Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm either and I am an artist from the Faroe Islands,
- 0:05Speaker 1: a musician, I'm a writer.
- 0:08Speaker 2: March marks your first ever headline tour of Australia and
- 0:11Speaker 2: New Zealand after opening for High Loan here in twenty
- 0:13Speaker 2: twenty four. What made this feel like the right moment
- 0:16Speaker 2: to return center stage with the full production?
- 0:21Speaker 1: What can I say? It was just, first of all,
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's always been a big dream of mine to go
- 0:29Speaker 1: to Australia to play and to experience Australia. I've always, like,
- 0:34Speaker 1: somehow just been a fan of Australia without you know,
- 0:38Speaker 1: haven't been there, but just yeah, And so I was
- 0:43Speaker 1: fortunate enough to come over with High Long and it
- 0:46Speaker 1: was such a beautiful experience. And with that in mind,
- 0:52Speaker 1: you know, afterwards, I was like, I have to go back,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and I was lucky enough to have people who could
- 0:58Speaker 1: make that happen. So I'm just so excited to come
- 1:03Speaker 1: over again with my whole band and and to play
- 1:07Speaker 1: for the Australians again. It's going to be wonderful.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yeah, lovely.
- 1:11Speaker 2: And did you get to say much when you were
- 1:13Speaker 2: here last time?
- 1:16Speaker 1: A little bit? Yeah, we didn't have that much time
- 1:19Speaker 1: to explore, but a bit of time, and this time
- 1:21Speaker 1: we'll have even more time to maybe, you know, see
- 1:25Speaker 1: some stuff thee some wild stuff, yeah, which which you
- 1:32Speaker 1: have a lot up there?
- 1:33Speaker 3: We do, we do.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I'm really curious about because everyone knows us Australians for
- 1:38Speaker 2: you know, our wildlife, our koalas and kangaroos and all
- 1:41Speaker 2: that Pharaoh Islands. What is there for us to see.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Sheep?
- 1:49Speaker 3: Okay, that's all right, that's cool.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Thank cute, cute, cute little sheep. But also you know,
- 1:58Speaker 1: there is some Faroe Islands. It's you know, it's just
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's between Iceland and Scotland in the middle of the
- 2:06Speaker 1: Atlantic Ocean, and it's it's very mountainous. So there the
- 2:12Speaker 1: nature here is very beautiful and peaceful and rough at
- 2:18Speaker 1: the same time. So, I mean, I think if you're
- 2:23Speaker 1: in for a nature experience, this is a beautiful place
- 2:27Speaker 1: to go to go to.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds absolutely beautiful.
- 2:33Speaker 2: And you've described your live shows as more than concerts,
- 2:37Speaker 2: almost ritualistic experiences. When you're preparing for a tool like this,
- 2:41Speaker 2: what determines the emotional or spiritual arc of a set.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I always find it very interesting to make set lists
- 2:51Speaker 1: for tours, and it's something that I brew in my
- 2:54Speaker 1: head often for a long time, all the way up
- 2:56Speaker 1: to the tour, almost because it's you're taking people on
- 3:01Speaker 1: a journey. I like to think about the set list
- 3:03Speaker 1: as a journey. You know, where does it starts? And
- 3:05Speaker 1: where do we go and where do we land again?
- 3:08Speaker 1: And it's it's a beautiful thing to make a set list,
- 3:14Speaker 1: I think, and exciting to kind of think about that.
- 3:19Speaker 1: You know, what, where do we want to go on
- 3:22Speaker 1: this show? And I don't know. I just I pick.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I pick songs and I put them together as I
- 3:31Speaker 1: see it fit. And then maybe there's a space in
- 3:34Speaker 1: the set where I think, okay, we need to go,
- 3:36Speaker 1: we need to go there, so I'll pick maybe an
- 3:39Speaker 1: old song from my repertoire or a new one or
- 3:42Speaker 1: you know, so it all depends on I like to
- 3:46Speaker 1: pick songs that kind of work together for that particular
- 3:51Speaker 1: journey somehow.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And obviously the journey is a different like everywhere
- 3:55Speaker 2: you go, it's yeah different, Yeah.
- 3:57Speaker 1: It's going to be different. I like to switch around
- 4:00Speaker 1: a bit and not play the exact same set every night,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know. I like to kind of keep it a
- 4:05Speaker 1: bit playful and open.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, beautiful and you're joining Sylvain on this run, whose
- 4:13Speaker 2: work also played spirituality, atmosphere and intensity. What was it
- 4:18Speaker 2: about her music that made this pairing feel natural?
- 4:23Speaker 1: We taught I was fortunate enough to tour with her.
- 4:27Speaker 1: She toured with me around Europe, and that's how I
- 4:31Speaker 1: got to know her. She came along as a support
- 4:34Speaker 1: act and we so just immediately clicked. We became friends,
- 4:38Speaker 1: and I was like, oh my god, where have you
- 4:40Speaker 1: been all my life? And she's such a wonderful spirit
- 4:44Speaker 1: and a beautiful artist, and there's something beautiful about sharing
- 4:50Speaker 1: the stage together with another artist, to share a night
- 4:54Speaker 1: like that, because it's yeah, And I'm just really happy
- 5:01Speaker 1: that she's coming with me to Australia. And I know
- 5:03Speaker 1: she's too, She's super excited too.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I must say, you guys, like the pairing of you
- 5:08Speaker 2: guys together is just like otherworldly, Like it's so good.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It's nice. That's yeah, I think so too. I think
- 5:17Speaker 1: we kind of somehow come from the same world world somehow.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Yea and our world are not the same, but they
- 5:27Speaker 1: kind of match.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I totally agree.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and many Fancy first discovered your voice through The
- 5:37Speaker 2: Last Kingdom, where Yeah, your music reached a massive global
- 5:42Speaker 2: audience through that. How did composing for that world change
- 5:45Speaker 2: the way you think about storytelling through sound?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yeah that was. Making music for The
- 5:53Speaker 1: Last Kingdom was like the first time I had made
- 5:56Speaker 1: music for a TV show. And it's such a different
- 6:01Speaker 1: approach to create because you're creating music for something, You're
- 6:08Speaker 1: you're pulling out the emotions of something that's already there.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You're you're not making an album or anything. You're you
- 6:16Speaker 1: don't have to invent the emotion, you have to make
- 6:19Speaker 1: it stronger, right. So it was just so freeing and
- 6:24Speaker 1: beautiful to make the music for this beautiful TV show
- 6:28Speaker 1: which has such dramatic things going on. And I really
- 6:34Speaker 1: got to dig deep down to my roots actually because
- 6:41Speaker 1: it's a Viking show and you know, I come from
- 6:44Speaker 1: the Faro Islands and grew up with the traditional music
- 6:49Speaker 1: from the Farao Islands, which is something I drew a
- 6:51Speaker 1: lot of inspiration from when I made the music from
- 6:55Speaker 1: for that show. And I forgot the question that's okay.
- 7:03Speaker 1: It was just flabbering away.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Like no, it totally, It's fine.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Worked it was, and there is a bridge between that
- 7:15Speaker 1: and my music and I have played a lot of
- 7:18Speaker 1: music for the Last Kingdom. I've played it a lot
- 7:22Speaker 1: on my live shows the past year and it just, yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 1: it works together. So I bring some of that to Australia.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I was just gonna say, can we have some of
- 7:34Speaker 3: that here?
- 7:37Speaker 1: I'm sure you will get some of that.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, good do you when you were composing those songs
- 7:44Speaker 2: for the show, did you see a lot of the
- 7:47Speaker 2: music in your head as you were watching the scenes?
- 7:50Speaker 3: Is that kind of how it worked.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Or yeah, it was totally. I mean I was invited
- 7:56Speaker 1: to come to London to work with John Long, who's
- 8:00Speaker 1: the main composer of the show, and he was looking
- 8:03Speaker 1: for like he was looking for something and he had
- 8:06Speaker 1: heard my stuff on YouTube and he just wanted to
- 8:11Speaker 1: have a play around in the studio and see what
- 8:16Speaker 1: I would come up with along with his score. And
- 8:20Speaker 1: it was a crazy experience because he had the one
- 8:24Speaker 1: of the scenes of the show. It was like, as
- 8:26Speaker 1: I remember correctly, it was a battle scene. There are
- 8:29Speaker 1: a lot of those scenes, so it was a battle scene,
- 8:33Speaker 1: you know, on the battlefield. Really crazy and it was
- 8:38Speaker 1: on a big screen and I got a microphone in
- 8:40Speaker 1: front of me and like, what would you sing to this?
- 8:43Speaker 1: You know, said, and I just I just started improvising,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and I was like, what would I sing to this?
- 8:51Speaker 1: I would just I would scream to this, and that
- 8:56Speaker 1: kind of became the the what you call it, the
- 9:01Speaker 1: main theme. So it was like just my first impression
- 9:05Speaker 1: of that and it was so inspiring, so much fun.
- 9:09Speaker 3: That's so cool.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Do you think that whole experience changed the way that
- 9:13Speaker 2: you create creative future songs?
- 9:17Speaker 1: I think in a way it was it was a
- 9:20Speaker 1: new discovery, but also in one way, it was also
- 9:23Speaker 1: like going back to my roots. It felt it felt
- 9:26Speaker 1: like coming home a bit like Okay, yeah, this is
- 9:29Speaker 1: like a place where you can be completely free and
- 9:34Speaker 1: just you know, belt it out. And that's very much
- 9:38Speaker 1: what very folk music is about. It's very free and
- 9:44Speaker 1: and it was in that sense, very freeing and totally
- 9:49Speaker 1: I think it woke up a side of myself that
- 9:52Speaker 1: I felt had been sleeping for a bit, and I've
- 9:56Speaker 1: taken it into my music somehow in a different way. Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Oh that's amazing.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And do you.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I find that your music is kind of hard to categorize.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I mean, we can say that your music is you know,
- 10:13Speaker 2: traditional folk, but then I agree, I also feel like yeah,
- 10:18Speaker 2: it's so much more than that though too. Do you
- 10:20Speaker 2: feel free now to follow instincts rather than genre expectations.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, absolutely, it's I don't know, maybe because I've
- 10:32Speaker 1: been doing this for so long, and the older you get,
- 10:35Speaker 1: the more the less you care or something. You know,
- 10:40Speaker 1: you just start to focus differently on what you want
- 10:45Speaker 1: to do, and you know better what you don't want
- 10:49Speaker 1: to do. And you know, I think like fifteen years ago,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I might have been more more of more searching for
- 11:00Speaker 1: or something as an artist, and I'm still searching. It's
- 11:05Speaker 1: always like, it's always a discovery when you make music,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but it's just a bit more like filtered in and
- 11:12Speaker 1: more compact like the Yeah, the idea is I know,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I know what I want and and that's a very
- 11:23Speaker 1: wonderful feeling. And I'm not I'm not worried about what
- 11:28Speaker 1: people would expect, because they expect all kinds of things
- 11:31Speaker 1: from me, you know, because I've done so many different things. Yes,
- 11:34Speaker 1: some people will want to want me to sing in English,
- 11:37Speaker 1: some people want me to sing very with some people
- 11:39Speaker 1: want me to do traditional folk music again, some people
- 11:43Speaker 1: want me to do rock music. It's it's and if
- 11:47Speaker 1: you start thinking about what people want. You totally lose
- 11:51Speaker 1: your your plot, You totally lose your yeah, your authentic self.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I think. So it's yeah, it's about not listening too
- 12:02Speaker 1: much too, that's what was in your head, I think.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah, listening to your true self, I think, and.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Not all the noise around maybe yeah, yeah, exactly, yes, exactly,
- 12:13Speaker 2: and not.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Fall into the trap of you know, or what would
- 12:19Speaker 1: people want? What do they want me to hear?
- 12:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 12:22Speaker 2: Exactly, yeah, ed Well said, your performances also often feel
- 12:28Speaker 2: deeply physical, almost elemental.
- 12:30Speaker 3: How do you prepare vocally and.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Mentally for shows that demand that level of emotional and
- 12:34Speaker 2: bodily intensity night after night.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Long questions your question?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Sorry, love that, I love that. Yeah, it is a
- 12:43Speaker 1: very physical thing for me to be on stage. How
- 12:49Speaker 1: do I prepare? I mean it's for me, being on
- 12:52Speaker 1: stage is very much about kind of shutting out my
- 12:59Speaker 1: my my thoughts, and I want to be in the
- 13:04Speaker 1: moment with the people who are there. I want to
- 13:07Speaker 1: be right there in the moment with people and not
- 13:11Speaker 1: distracted by any thoughts or or you know, the dishes
- 13:16Speaker 1: at home or whatever, you know, you know, whatever I
- 13:22Speaker 1: feel that day. I don't want to bring too much
- 13:25Speaker 1: of that. I want to be like a vessel or something,
- 13:28Speaker 1: you know, when I'm on stage. I want to be
- 13:30Speaker 1: someone who just where the music can just flow really
- 13:35Speaker 1: through me. And I like to keep it a bit.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I like to keep the house, which is my body.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I like to keep it open, you know, and to
- 13:46Speaker 1: be able to receive whatever the audience brings to the table. Also,
- 13:53Speaker 1: because there's such a big part of my shows the audience,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and so I don't know, I just I prepare. It
- 14:00Speaker 1: is more to just just be in a quiet space
- 14:06Speaker 1: and not do too much before the show, and I
- 14:09Speaker 1: warm up slightly, not too much, just a bit, yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 1: slowly and gradually through throughout the evening. Before I go
- 14:18Speaker 1: on stage. I try to keep my voice warm and
- 14:23Speaker 1: you know, mm hmm, but it's not I don't prepare
- 14:28Speaker 1: in any crazy way. Yeah, I might meditate a bit
- 14:33Speaker 1: or do some stretches, you know, yeah tragic, well.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Crazy, that's mad.
- 14:42Speaker 1: But otherwise it's more about just getting into the zone
- 14:45Speaker 1: and in the right mindset for me. Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Is there any music you're putting on or listening to
- 14:51Speaker 2: whilst you're doing that?
- 14:52Speaker 1: Or sometimes we actually we like to put music on
- 14:57Speaker 1: the band. Also, you know, just to get into a
- 15:01Speaker 1: as a mood. Yeah, and we get what kind of music.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Sometimes it depends on how we feel that day. I guess. Yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 1: we listen to all sorts of music wealth in the
- 15:13Speaker 1: tour bus and also backstage.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're not listening to do you listen to
- 15:20Speaker 2: songs outside of your genre or do you listen to
- 15:23Speaker 2: a lot of music inside of your from your genre.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I think that the music that I often tend to
- 15:30Speaker 1: listen to is so different from my music. It's totally Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I think that's Yeah, it makes sense in my head,
- 15:39Speaker 1: like because it's you don't want to listen to the
- 15:42Speaker 1: kind the same type of music that you create yourself.
- 15:45Speaker 1: You want to listen to something take different. Yeah, I
- 15:49Speaker 1: mean I love to listen to you know, electrode like
- 15:54Speaker 1: super electro music or or even you know Lenarcow and
- 15:59Speaker 1: Who's More for folk, Arthur's story, Yeah, yeah, David Bowie,
- 16:05Speaker 1: Nick Cave. I love listening to Nick Cave and yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 1: the listless long yes, and very it's something that's yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Oh that's beautiful.
- 16:18Speaker 2: This is a question I really want to ask you,
- 16:20Speaker 2: and I hope I go about it in the right way.
- 16:23Speaker 3: I genuinely thought no one.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Could cover Kate Bush's Running up that Hill in a
- 16:27Speaker 2: way that felt so respectful and transformative as Placebo. They're
- 16:31Speaker 2: one of my favorite bands, and I think they did
- 16:33Speaker 2: an amazing come up cover, except I then listened to your.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Cover of that, and it's on my mind.
- 16:40Speaker 2: It was amazing, and I have to say, I think
- 16:42Speaker 2: it was even better than Placebo.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Oh where did you hear that? That was just done
- 16:48Speaker 1: on a TV show in Iceland? Oh?
- 16:51Speaker 3: Really?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Oh I or maybe it's on YouTube. It might be
- 16:56Speaker 1: on YouTube now that's.
- 16:57Speaker 3: How I saw it. It was a thank you, But anyway,
- 17:02Speaker 3: I loved it, absolutely loved it. And I do have
- 17:04Speaker 3: a question.
- 17:06Speaker 2: What draws you to Kate Bush's work And how do
- 17:08Speaker 2: you approach honoring something so iconic while still making it
- 17:11Speaker 2: unmistakably your own?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Oh you soual kind of course. I mean Kate Bush.
- 17:18Speaker 1: She's like, she's this legend and this golden voice that
- 17:23Speaker 1: I've always admired a lot as as a female singer
- 17:28Speaker 1: myself and growing up. I remember like I was just
- 17:32Speaker 1: in awe of her and an artist like her, and
- 17:36Speaker 1: The York and Jeanny Mitchell and all these amazing female
- 17:41Speaker 1: personalities that sing and make music. Yeah, inspired me a lot.
- 17:49Speaker 1: And and then I did a cover of for an
- 17:53Speaker 1: album I did like many years ago. I did a
- 17:55Speaker 1: cover of that song Hounds of Love, and that was
- 18:02Speaker 1: like just a very spontaneous It wasn't a planned thing,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but we were in the studio and playing around and
- 18:09Speaker 1: the drummers started to just play this drumbar and I
- 18:12Speaker 1: just started to sing sounds of Love on top of it.
- 18:16Speaker 1: More of her. It was more of a jam and
- 18:18Speaker 1: a fun thing. It was not like intentional that let's
- 18:22Speaker 1: cover this, but it was just more of a playful thing,
- 18:24Speaker 1: and it ended up on the album. It's an album
- 18:28Speaker 1: called Larva, an album I made aged decades ago.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And so later, I mean I was I was on
- 18:35Speaker 1: this TV show in Iceland, and they suggested I covered
- 18:40Speaker 1: Kate Bush running Up that Hill because it was because
- 18:43Speaker 1: of stranger things. It was at the time she had
- 18:47Speaker 1: her come back. It was such a beautiful comeback that
- 18:51Speaker 1: she got all of a sudden out of the blue
- 18:53Speaker 1: right definitely, and I just I wanted to sing this
- 18:58Speaker 1: song because it's such a cool song, and yeah, I
- 19:02Speaker 1: thought it was a great idea. So we played this
- 19:05Speaker 1: song live just on this TV show and I loved
- 19:10Speaker 1: sing me.
- 19:10Speaker 4: It was like, yeah, and she has this, yeah anyway,
- 19:19Speaker 4: she just she's got it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: You did a beautiful job.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And I don't know, please make that more available somehow,
- 19:26Speaker 2: put it on an album or something.
- 19:27Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Maybe that's a good idea. That's such a cool song,
- 19:33Speaker 1: isn't it. It is?
- 19:34Speaker 3: It really is.
- 19:36Speaker 1: It has all these It's produced so amazingly too. That's
- 19:41Speaker 1: why I was like, my god, yes, let's play that song.
- 19:44Speaker 1: And when you play a song, you also discover how
- 19:46Speaker 1: the production is put together, all these little patterns that
- 19:49Speaker 1: come in and go out. It's in a cool production.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I remember the first time I heard it, like, I
- 19:57Speaker 2: just got chills and I was like, what is this?
- 20:00Speaker 3: I was very young at the time, but it stuck
- 20:01Speaker 3: with me. Anyway. I could talk about that for ages,
- 20:04Speaker 3: but you didn't have me too.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Thank you. Thank you some much, of course.
- 20:11Speaker 3: And I'm running out of time. Okay. What feels non
- 20:15Speaker 3: negotiable for you as an artist? Now?
- 20:20Speaker 1: No negotiable? I mean that's definitely having someone tell me
- 20:25Speaker 1: what to do, you know, having someone telling me what
- 20:28Speaker 1: to wear, what to do, what to Wright, I think
- 20:33Speaker 1: in my on my journey, which has been for a
- 20:36Speaker 1: while now, I started when I'm sixteen. You know, you've
- 20:39Speaker 1: been through all these different faces and chapters. I think
- 20:43Speaker 1: in your life you worked with many many people, many
- 20:47Speaker 1: many managers, many labels, and you kind of slowly become
- 20:53Speaker 1: more you come. I think you come closer and closer
- 20:58Speaker 1: to yourself and find out out what's the right thing
- 21:01Speaker 1: for you and who are the right people for you
- 21:03Speaker 1: to surround yourself with, and so so I think it
- 21:09Speaker 1: would be too, It would be non negotiable for me
- 21:12Speaker 1: to have like an A and R person at a
- 21:14Speaker 1: label or someone to to make rules about what what
- 21:19Speaker 1: I should do and how I should look like and yeah,
- 21:22Speaker 1: all that, all that.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Stuff, and it all comes with you.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I enjoy being independent and free, a free artist.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah that's lovely. And as you were saying, like, I
- 21:32Speaker 2: think that only comes with time, doesn't it.
- 21:34Speaker 3: You start to realize actually, yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I think so, Yeah, yeah, I think so. As a
- 21:38Speaker 1: young artist, you don't know this, You don't know how
- 21:42Speaker 1: it's supposed to be, you know, And yeah, yeah, you
- 21:48Speaker 1: think you have to do all these things in order
- 21:50Speaker 1: to to have success or something or or to be
- 21:54Speaker 1: able to release something, you have to do all these things.
- 21:57Speaker 1: But today I'm I think I'm also enjoying it more
- 22:03Speaker 1: everything about it, Like I enjoy writing, I enjoy touring
- 22:07Speaker 1: and also creating the artworks, and everything is just fun
- 22:11Speaker 1: because it's it's a playful process and and you can
- 22:17Speaker 1: choose the right people to work with every time, and
- 22:21Speaker 1: it's just it's wonderful.
- 22:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it does.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Of course. It sounds like I have this amazing I'm
- 22:29Speaker 1: always like, oh, everything's wonderful. I have days where I
- 22:33Speaker 1: think everything sucks, though.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: No, I was just like, oh, I'm gonna have to
- 22:39Speaker 1: throw all these songs in the trash that.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Never do that, whatever you do. No, I was just
- 22:47Speaker 3: gonna say, it sounds like you're really grounded. You're very soothing,
- 22:51Speaker 3: You're oh you're sweet.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Aside from your voice, which does that to me anyway,
- 22:56Speaker 2: puts me to sleep in a good way.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Oh good, it's beautiful.
- 23:05Speaker 2: This tour being framed as a kind of homecoming and
- 23:07Speaker 2: shared sanctuary for fans and Nordic and spiritual folk traditions.
- 23:11Speaker 2: What does community mean to you in the context of
- 23:15Speaker 2: live music?
- 23:17Speaker 1: Oh my god, can you say that one more time?
- 23:19Speaker 3: Yeah? Sorry, it's another huge question.
- 23:23Speaker 2: This tour is being framed as a kind of homecoming
- 23:26Speaker 2: and shared sanctuary for fans of Nordic and spiritual folk traditions.
- 23:31Speaker 3: What does community mean to you in the context of
- 23:34Speaker 3: live music.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's almost almost almost makes me cry
- 23:39Speaker 1: because I think that it's so it's so beautiful to
- 23:46Speaker 1: meet my fans around the world, and it really touches
- 23:48Speaker 1: my heart to come to come to a place like
- 23:52Speaker 1: Australia and and feel that I have an audience there
- 23:57Speaker 1: and it's really for me it's a homecoming as well.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And last time I was there, I felt so welcome
- 24:05Speaker 1: and I felt that the people there was like it
- 24:09Speaker 1: was like family, you know. It's like the room was
- 24:11Speaker 1: so full of love and compassion, and for me, that's
- 24:17Speaker 1: just what the world needs right now. And it's such
- 24:20Speaker 1: a beautiful thing to get to share meaningful moments with
- 24:26Speaker 1: people all around the world and to just come together
- 24:29Speaker 1: in peace and love. You know. I think that's the
- 24:35Speaker 1: greatest gift that I've been given to be able to
- 24:39Speaker 1: share this moment with people. So it means the world
- 24:42Speaker 1: to me that community really does.
- 24:46Speaker 3: That's beautiful.
- 24:46Speaker 2: It's nice to know that you can feel it to
- 24:49Speaker 2: yourself up there on stage, because.
- 24:50Speaker 3: You know, as fans, we don't always know that that
- 24:54Speaker 3: translates to you as an artist.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I certainly feel it, you know, and it
- 25:02Speaker 1: makes me so happy, it really does.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And yeah, for audiences in Australia and New Zealand who
- 25:11Speaker 2: may be seeing you headline, who may be seeing you
- 25:14Speaker 2: headline for the first time, what do you hope they
- 25:16Speaker 2: feel when they leave the venue?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Wow, that's a tricky one, isn't it. What do I
- 25:25Speaker 1: hope they feel? I hope they feel. I hope that
- 25:30Speaker 1: they feel something at least. I hope that they feel
- 25:35Speaker 1: somehow when I play my shows. I just whatever people
- 25:41Speaker 1: want to feel they should feel. And we're all so different.
- 25:46Speaker 1: We all go through different things in life, and we
- 25:52Speaker 1: might experience a song differently, you know, some might experience
- 25:58Speaker 1: very different emotions, you know, And I feel that I'm
- 26:02Speaker 1: quite sensitive like that. I feel a lot of different
- 26:07Speaker 1: emotions in the room when I play, and that's beautiful
- 26:10Speaker 1: to kind of, you know, just share this and be
- 26:13Speaker 1: able to deal with something within yourself. So I just
- 26:18Speaker 1: feel that I hope that people have gotten something good
- 26:21Speaker 1: at least out of the shows, whether it's joy or
- 26:26Speaker 1: dealing with their sadness, or I hope it's something good.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I hope they feel let me say, I hope they
- 26:33Speaker 1: feel loved. They feel loved, and they leave the space.
- 26:38Speaker 3: That's so wonderful. That's the lovely thing I've heard in
- 26:41Speaker 3: a lot. That's beautiful.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I really thank you. Well. I think that's the simple
- 26:48Speaker 1: way of saying it. I think, yeah, yeah, oh, and
- 26:51Speaker 1: just know.
- 26:51Speaker 2: That it's projected back at you as well. We love
- 26:55Speaker 2: you and we cannot wait to see you in March.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Thank you so much for your time.
