- 0:12I've never seen a Ranger team quick before the Olympics.
- 0:15We're going to be looking at Aaron Judge and saying that he
- 0:17can't win the big game, Michael Jordan said.
- 0:20I played 82 games. You don't see the one doing
- 0:23that, but Jack Hughes did after getting his teeth knocked down
- 0:26to play every single shift he got back in the game.

- 2:20And Qi know you were enjoying Easter?
- 2:21What were you doing with your fans?
- 2:23Any any interesting things? Any family fights would usually
- 2:27happen on holidays. No, we didn't have no family
- 2:30fights. We was all good.
- 2:32We actually went, we had like church.
- 2:34So it was for us this Holy weekend.
- 2:36And there's a bunch of church events and different, yeah,
- 2:40different events that they have thrown for our church here down
- 2:43here in Atlanta. And then, so we did church,
- 2:45spent times with the kids and then it was a baby shower.
- 2:49Somebody scheduled a baby shower, which I think it's
- 2:51pretty crazy to have a baby shop on a holiday weekend.
- 2:55It's just, it's hard to pull people in for an event like that
- 3:00when there's a holiday weekend. But other than that, the heroes,
- 3:05the tomb is now empty and will forever be empty.
- 3:09And we enjoyed it, man. What about you?
- 3:12I was just hanging out with friends.
- 3:14Tommy. Tommy I know was doing stuff
- 3:16with his family. Speedy was doing stuff with his
- 3:18family, actually speeding and go home to Connecticut, which is
- 3:21usually something that we expect.
- 3:24But he didn't go home to his family, hanging out with his
- 3:26uncle and his grandmother. What I was doing as I went and I
- 3:29hung out with Mikey C and his family and it was fantastic.
- 3:32I, I never got a chance to see him and his four nieces
- 3:35together. Got a chance to see some of his
- 3:39nieces and nephews and and I get I got to see his mother, who
- 3:43reminds me of my mother. She's been always gracious and a
- 3:46lot of food. Italians love food.
- 3:50Oh my God, Italian food man, Yes.
- 3:52All the Italians stop. Shadow.
- 3:53American. A black American.
- 3:56I I know you like. Soul food.
- 3:58You like soul food over there in Georgia, right?
- 4:01Right. Yeah.
- 4:01I love soul food, by the way. I love.
- 4:03I love my. I love Italian too by the.
- 4:05Way who doesn't love Italian? Italian is very good because at
- 4:08any day you don't gain as much weight when you do Authentic
- 4:13Italian sauce. Oh, I love it.
- 4:15The stuffed shells we have the chicken cutlets they had the
- 4:18mushrooms, which I'm not a big fan of, some steak.
- 4:21It was a mixture of everything I brought myself.
- 4:23I, I bought a couple of pies for because I you can't go empty
- 4:27handed to a family event and expect to just walk right in
- 4:31empty handed. I always bring something, cake,
- 4:33pie, whatever, anything where I bring drinks, but I, I don't
- 4:38drink. So if I bring liquor to a party,
- 4:41you know, I'm not going to be the one drinking it.
- 4:43So I, I did, and I'm not a cigar smoker, but I brought a couple
- 4:47of cigars. So a lot of the guys that were
- 4:50there was smoking some cigars. So it's just not my thing.
- 4:54It, it never is my thing. But the, the food was delicious.
- 4:58I filled up my stomach. Brittany.
- 5:00Brittany didn't come. She was enjoying her sleep
- 5:03because she's been working back-to-back nights.
- 5:05She's back at it tonight at Elle Island Cohen.
- 5:08So she's always working. So she says you're always the
- 5:11one with the fun and I never had any fun And I notice everybody
- 5:15looking at our backgrounds. We do not have a green screen
- 5:18anymore. So we we're working on some new
- 5:21stuff for the fans to check out some of my sneaker collection,
- 5:24some of the some sneakers that are very, very rare.
- 5:27We got the Freddy Cougars on the back.
- 5:29We got the Christian Dior, Michael Jordan sneakers.
- 5:32Everybody, if you know sneakers, I'm going to every single week
- 5:35I'm going to change the sneakers so you guys can check out some
- 5:38of the new styles, some of the old styles I have so you guys
- 5:41can check out some of my my sick collecting habits because I love
- 5:47hats. I've got over 400 hats.
- 5:49I've got sneakers. I probably have about four or
- 5:52500 sneakers and I'm not telling you where I live, ladies and
- 5:55gentlemen, because if you know where I live, I'll there'll be a
- 5:58lot of slavery thievery. I almost said slavery thievery.
- 6:02I also have I collect glasses and anybody likes these AI
- 6:06glasses? I got a couple of pair.
- 6:08Of these. I'm not putting any glasses on
- 6:10the show tonight. I'm staying away from it.
- 6:12I'm not doing that. But I've got a ton of things.
- 6:15I do a lot and I spend a lot on some nice things.
- 6:19So whenever I have kids and, and anybody wants some used or some
- 6:24unique things, even behind Speedy, you see some of my
- 6:27gloves, some my kickboxing guy, you know, stuff.
- 6:31So I, I, I put it, I post up a lot of different things.
- 6:34You got Wayne Gretzky's farewell Daily News poster, a lot of
- 6:38different things for the fans to check out some of the things
- 6:41that we haven't done. Well, ladies and gentlemen, the
- 6:43Islanders fire Patrick Wah with four games left.
- 6:47It made no sense 24 hours ago. The New York Islanders announced
- 6:51yesterday that they fired coach Patrick War after almost two
- 6:56seasons with the team. They will replace him with Peter
- 6:59Deboer who was fired by the Dallas Stars last season and
- 7:03reports say that De Boer has been given a multi year contract
- 7:07four years. I heard De Boer is fifth among
- 7:10active head coaches with 662 career wins and has the most
- 7:16wins for any coach that has never won a Stanley Cup.
- 7:20This decision comes with four games remaining in the season
- 7:24and the Islanders losing back-to-back games to the Flyers
- 7:28and Hurricanes. The Islanders have lost four
- 7:30straight games and seven out of their last 10 games and now have
- 7:34fallen out of a playoff spot. They are one point back from the
- 7:38Flyers for the number three spot in the Metropolitan Division and
- 7:43one point back from the Senators for the final Wild card spot.
- 7:47Both teams have a game in hand against the Islanders.
- 7:51The Islanders are off until Thursday and then we'll finish
- 7:55the season with games versus the Maple Leafs, the Senators, the
- 7:59Canadians and the Hurricanes. Now, a lot of Islander fans
- 8:04sitting here today, and I'm an Islander fan and I speak for
- 8:07every single Islander fan. And wondering what Darsh was
- 8:13thinking four games left of the season.
- 8:17And there's a lot of ways you can point your fingers at what
- 8:20the Islanders did. You can argue that Darsh was
- 8:22wrong, or you can argue that maybe Darsh is a genius.
- 8:26And I'm going to tell you why. Darsh never picked Patrick Wah
- 8:30to be his head coach. As a matter of fact, when he was
- 8:32given the job, he was told by ownership that he has to keep
- 8:37Patrick Wah, that they want to move forward with Patrick Wah.
- 8:40They want to see what he can do with the young talent that
- 8:43they're going to bring in in this coming draft, which have
- 8:46proven to be guys that are going to be a part of this team in
- 8:48this organization next year. And Matthew Shaffer has had a
- 8:51sensational year. He's going to win rookie of the
- 8:54year. He might be up for a heart.
- 8:56He's not going to win the heart trophy.
- 8:58But he's been sensational. He's been the face of the New
- 9:00York Islanders. What you expect as a number one
- 9:02pick in the first round. But here's the problem.
- 9:05Patrick Wah over the years, if you remember when with Colorado,
- 9:09he's had a problem developing youngsters.
- 9:12As a matter of fact, he's had problems making the right
- 9:16transition with goaltending. This guy's arguably the greatest
- 9:19goaltender of all time. You can argue it's Patrick Wah
- 9:22or more Tan Brodor. 2 Canadian players that have stood pretty
- 9:29much stood on their head and stood for a lot of different
- 9:30things from Patrick Wah who was brought up and was brought up by
- 9:35the Montreal Canadiens in the 80s that won a Stanley Cup with
- 9:37the Canadians and eventually won.
- 9:39I think he won 2 Stanley Cups with the Canadiens and then won
- 9:42a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche.
- 9:44And I remember that 96, the year of the rat when they knocked off
- 9:47the Florida Panthers in four games and three overtimes.
- 9:51I remember it very well. Why?
- 9:52Because I'm a Van Peasburg fan. That's a whole nother story.
- 9:54Patrick Wah to me deserved it the least to finish the season.
- 9:59I do believe that. This guy, what was it, four or
- 10:01five weeks ago, was up for coach of the year.
- 10:04I was arguing that he was the coach of the year.
- 10:07And then all of a sudden, since the All Star break or the
- 10:10Olympic break, the Islanders slowly but surely were trembling
- 10:15the wrong way. And maybe it was the break,
- 10:19maybe it was the time off. I don't know.
- 10:22And then they made that trade for Braden Chen.
- 10:24They gave up a first round and a third round and a young player
- 10:27for Braden Chen. He waved his no trade clause to
- 10:30come to the Islanders. Maybe it was Matthew Shaffer,
- 10:32maybe it was Patrick Wall, whatever everybody is saying.
- 10:35Maybe it could have been both, who knows.
- 10:37But you brought this guy in to win or compete for a Stanley
- 10:41Cup. That's what you did.
- 10:43And what did you do? You brought this guy in.
- 10:45He's really the Brady. Chen has done nothing since he's
- 10:47come to the Islanders. I know it's only been a 10
- 10:50games, but he's really done nothing.
- 10:53Maybe it adds a little bit of leadership.
- 10:54You don't give up a first round and a third round and a player
- 10:58that was playing better than Braden Shedden in the last
- 11:02couple of weeks for a guy for a team that might not even make
- 11:06the playoffs now. Now, what are your arguments now
- 11:09if they fall short, if the Ottawa Senators beat you out for
- 11:12that playoff spot? Or how about the Philadelphia
- 11:15Flyers beat you out for a playoff spot?
- 11:17The Flyers. Peter de Boer is a good coach.
- 11:22He's been successful. He's taken multiple teams to a
- 11:25Stanley Cup Final but failed to win the big game.
- 11:29We've heard a lot of coaches and professional sports.
- 11:31If you look at their record, it's amazing.
- 11:33Peter Laviolette, if he didn't win a Stanley Cup years before,
- 11:37even with all the wins that he has, is one of the greatest, one
- 11:40of the top 10 greatest coaches of all time.
- 11:43We wouldn't consider him that because he couldn't win the big
- 11:45game, he couldn't win the championship game.
- 11:48Peter Laviolette did that. Peter de Boer has not.
- 11:52I don't care if he's a fifth amongst active head coaches with
- 11:56662 wins, that doesn't matter Now he's taking over teams in
- 12:01the middle of the season and taking him to Stanley Cups.
- 12:04We've seen that failed to win, so maybe that's what the
- 12:07Islanders are thinking about. But what I've been reading is
- 12:10that Peter de Boer was the hot name that was going to be
- 12:13available next year when it came to teams looking for a head
- 12:17coach. And the Islanders didn't want to
- 12:19lose out on him. They wanted to make sure that
- 12:21they linked him and they signed him before that happened.
- 12:24And I, I don't know Peter de Boer personally.
- 12:27I heard he's a nice guy. I've also heard a lot of players
- 12:29don't like Peter de Boer. He's been very, very bad when it
- 12:32comes to goaltending. He's had problems with every
- 12:35team that he's gone to, especially Ottinger when he was
- 12:37with Dallas, had a problem with him.
- 12:39Dallas, I remember that team Dallas was one of the best teams
- 12:42in the NHL a couple of years ago.
- 12:44They had one of the best records.
- 12:46I mean, flat out talent from top to bottom, from the first line
- 12:49to the fourth line. I mean, they were as good as
- 12:51anybody, but the fact here is that team failed to win.
- 12:56So no matter what, when you point your fingers on how
- 12:58talented or how great of a coach Peter Dubois has been in the
- 13:01regular season, and there are a lot of coaches that have been
- 13:04very good in the regular season in all sports.
- 13:07Do you want to go back and you want to go look at time time
- 13:10again pointing out coaches in the NFL, the NBA, the NHL and
- 13:15even the MLB that failed? Don Mattingly was a great
- 13:20regular season manager. He was a great assistant
- 13:24manager, but the guys never won a championship.
- 13:27Even as a player, one of the greatest Yankees, my favorite
- 13:30Yankee of all time, he never won a championship.
- 13:32Even as a manager or assistant or first base coach, he's never
- 13:37won a championship. And some teams and some players
- 13:42and some coaches just can't win the big one.
- 13:47That's what worries me about Peter Dabour.
- 13:49Now, I know Darsh is very liked in the NHL.
- 13:53He's he, this is the first time for him as a manager, as AGM,
- 13:57running an organization. He's young, he's energetic.
- 14:02And maybe Peter Dabour and him have these, have this
- 14:04relationship, maybe they're butt buddies.
- 14:06I don't know. I have no idea.
- 14:09But what I do know is if Darsh wants to make a statement, if he
- 14:14wanted to put his fingerprint, his thumbprint on this team, if
- 14:20he thinks Peter de Boer is the guy that's going to take him to
- 14:22the promised land, he's out of his mind.
- 14:25I just, I don't get it. I would have waited until this
- 14:29season was over. If Patrick Woff fails to get
- 14:31into the playoffs, if you fire him and you move on, if you lose
- 14:35out on Peter de Boer, there's quite a few good coaches that
- 14:38are still available right now or there are going to be coaches
- 14:41available at the end of the season because they're going to
- 14:43get fired. Peter Laviolette is still
- 14:46available. He's not hired.
- 14:48They're going to hire Peter Laviolette.
- 14:49You're going to tell me that Peter de Boer is better than
- 14:52Peter Laviolette? That's what makes no sense and
- 14:56that's my question. Now, if Peter Boar gets his team
- 15:00in the playoffs and this team makes a playoff run and they go
- 15:03all the way to the Stanley Cup and maybe they win a Stanley
- 15:05Cup, Darsh looks like a genius, looks like a complete genius.
- 15:10The chances of that happening when it comes to hockey slip to
- 15:13none. It's not going to happen.
- 15:15I'm telling you, all you hockey fans, all you Islander fans,
- 15:18listening to me right now, and if you're not listening to me,
- 15:20you can listen to me and hear me now.
- 15:23This team is not good enough to win a Stanley Cup this year.
- 15:27They have. You can argue they have the best
- 15:29goalie in the league and you can argue right now they have the
- 15:33best face off guy in the league, best two way player in the
- 15:37league in Bo Horvat and they have the best young player in
- 15:41hockey in Matthew Schaefer. Everything else, garbage.
- 15:46Garbage. And that's why they've proven
- 15:50time and time again, yes Ranger fans, because your team's
- 15:52garbage too. I don't want to hear how good
- 15:54their young players are playing now.
- 15:56They're garbage too. The only team that is worth
- 15:58watching right now in the metropolitan area of of hockey
- 16:03is the Buffalo Sabres, who you can argue is the best team in
- 16:05the NHL. And what is the consolation
- 16:08prize for the New York Islanders?
- 16:09If they sneak into the playoffs and get that wild card spot,
- 16:12guess who their consolation prize is?
- 16:14The Buffalo Sabres, Great. What a consolation prize for all
- 16:20you Islander fans to see them losing 4 or five games.
- 16:24Peter De Boer, I and I, I've talked to a bunch of Islander
- 16:27fans over the last 24 hours. Mikey C is a big Islander fan,
- 16:30he says. I don't know what Dash is doing,
- 16:33but Mikey, you see, also says that the Islanders don't have
- 16:35any talent, which I think is ridiculous.
- 16:37I think they have players that you can build around, not
- 16:42players I I don't think this team is fast enough to be a
- 16:46championship contender. And as far as the Flyers
- 16:49concerned, if the Flyers beat you out in the Metropolitan
- 16:53Division for that third spot, that's embarrassing.
- 16:55It's embarrassing because this team has been rebuilding for 10
- 16:58years. We all know what happened to
- 17:00their goaltender and some of their players after that mishap,
- 17:03the allegations. Remember that happened a couple
- 17:05of years ago. I'm not going to mention
- 17:06everybody knows if you know hockey what happened.
- 17:09Their top goalie prospect might never play hockey again.
- 17:12The Philadelphia Flyers as an organization has been a laughing
- 17:16stock since the Legion of Doom. What did they call him?
- 17:19The Legion? Yeah, the Legion of Doom with
- 17:22Eric Lindros and Le Clair, John Le Clair and and Michael
- 17:27Renberg. This team has not been very
- 17:29good. They've found ways to fail to
- 17:33get this team even into the playoffs some of the years.
- 17:35I think in the last 10 years, they've made the playoffs three
- 17:38times. I'm not saying the Ologies have
- 17:40been any better, but it's been bad.
- 17:42And the way Philadelphia was being portrayed going to the
- 17:44season was not good. And the second-half of the
- 17:47season, Since the Olympic break, Philadelphia has been one of the
- 17:51hotter teams in the NHL, them the Blue Jackets.
- 17:54Otto has been good. And that's why all three teams
- 17:57could sneak into the playoffs. And the Islanders might be
- 17:59waving on the golf course, drinking their beers, hanging
- 18:03out with the Ranger players, stuffing their thumbs in their
- 18:05asses. It's it's honestly, it's a joke.
- 18:10It is a joke and endorse. She's starting to scare me
- 18:13because we have seen GM's do this sleeping Lula Lamorello and
- 18:17I remember sleeping Lou. Sleeping Lou made one good move
- 18:21and that was trade for Bo Horvat, which at the time I was
- 18:25wondering if it was going to be a good move cuz they gave up
- 18:27prospects and players and and talents.
- 18:29It didn't make any sense. But it seems like Bo Horvat by
- 18:32far has been the better player. But what I see right now is a
- 18:35big problem and the organization trust in Dosch.
- 18:39Matthew Dosch is a, he's very well known for the Tampa Bay
- 18:43Lightning. He's been a part of that
- 18:44organization, the success of that organization, that
- 18:47organization that's won multiple championships.
- 18:50Darsh's was the guy. I thought it was a, it was a
- 18:52good hire by the Islanders instead of some of the old
- 18:54fellows that they were going to bring in after, after what you
- 18:57saw with Blue Lamorello after a couple of the last three years,
- 19:00it's been absolutely a joke. My problem here is he's signed
- 19:03guys. Pajo.
- 19:04He resigned. Pajo for what?
- 19:06Why did he do that? Some of the things that he has
- 19:09done over the last couple of weeks, the last two or three
- 19:12months, you start to shake your head, yes, this offseason,
- 19:16there's not a lot of great talent.
- 19:18What are you going to do? You're going to resign Anders
- 19:19Lee, you're going to give your captain a three-year deal?
- 19:22Are you going to pay him more than $4 million?
- 19:25You'd be crazy. None of it makes sense.
- 19:27Now. Again, these guys that they
- 19:29drafted over the last last season to me was 1.
- 19:33Not not only the greatest draft the Islanders have had in the
- 19:35last 25 years, it might solidify this organization for years to
- 19:40come because of the young talent that they brought in.
- 19:42Look at the look at the two first round draft picks.
- 19:45Akerson, he looks like he's going to be called up.
- 19:47He just signed a three-year deal.
- 19:49The other kid that they drafted, Eklund, he's playing for the AHL
- 19:52right now. He's probably on his way to the
- 19:54NHL next year. Eisman looks like he's going to
- 19:57make now. He wasn't.
- 19:58He wasn't Darsh's draft pick a couple of years ago.
- 20:01He's drafted by Lula Morello. He fell to the Islanders.
- 20:04He's been one of the better young United States players in
- 20:07the junior hockey championships. Eisman looks like he could be a
- 20:11player. He's been playing very well in
- 20:13Boston for college. They have talent that they're
- 20:16slowly but surely bring it up. But guess what?
- 20:18So Rogan is now 3031 years old. How many great years you have
- 20:23left with this young kid, this kid who just got a big contract
- 20:26from the Islanders finally is 100% healthy after two years
- 20:30after that back surgery where some people didn't think he was
- 20:33going to be at full strength. You're this guy's going to win
- 20:35goalie of the year finally when he failed to do it a couple of
- 20:38years ago before his back injury.
- 20:39And now you're going into an offseason, you're bringing your
- 20:42coach, you don't know where this team is.
- 20:45You know what this team's going to be next year and you don't
- 20:47have any money to invest. Everybody says the salary caps
- 20:50going up. Who cares if you can't bring
- 20:54these players in? Nobody wants to play at the UBS
- 20:56Arena. No offense, I'm sorry.
- 21:00Yes, Braden Shen waved. There's no trade clause.
- 21:03The guy's like 80 years old and he wanted to play with Matthew
- 21:06Schaefer. This isn't a guy like Cal
- 21:09Macaro. One of these guys, I mean, John
- 21:11Tavares told the Islanders go suck it.
- 21:14After the Islanders asked him at the trade telling do you want to
- 21:17stay or not, He told him he wants to be an Islander for for
- 21:19life. And what happens?
- 21:20He leaves the Islanders. Did he make the right choice?
- 21:23No, no. He made the wrong choice.
- 21:24He went to the Maple Leafs. But here's the facts.
- 21:28It seems like the Islanders always get screwed.
- 21:31Speedy. Always.
- 21:32Yeah, they're in a weird fusion right now of because they looked
- 21:36like they were pretty comfortably in a playoff spot.
- 21:38They decided to go after these veteran guys.
- 21:40Like you said, extending the veteran guys I I thought was
- 21:42very bizarre too. We knew it was going to be a
- 21:44pricey one with Braden Shen because he was a guy that's an
- 21:47older player, but he was a good playoff player.
- 21:49She was like, all right, maybe you can embrace this to work,
- 21:51but the price that they gave up was a lot and and now you're
- 21:54combining that with a lot of these already guys that are
- 21:56inheriting these big contracts as it is confused with these
- 21:58guys getting called up right at the end of the season.
- 22:00It was a weird mixture of trying to make a lot of things work all
- 22:03at once that apparently just didn't get to them.
- 22:05Now again, they were hockey is a sport where you've seen streak
- 22:08reliant team is still do very well.
- 22:10Auto has been that team now two straight years where they look
- 22:13at last year they had like one of the hottest winning streaks
- 22:16in the second-half of the season for them again in the playoffs
- 22:17last year. And then you're seeing with
- 22:18Philadelphia and as a result, somebody else has to fall out.
- 22:21The Islanders weren't playing bad.
- 22:22It was just mediocre up until this last two weeks.
- 22:25And now you're seeing the repercussions of it as far as
- 22:27the coaching move, yeah, I don't think it makes any sense right
- 22:29now. What are your four games left in
- 22:31the season? You were talking about it
- 22:32comparing to other sports, too. We talked about a win.
- 22:33The Denver Nuggets did it with Mike Malone late in the season
- 22:36and they had a guy that was in their system already and David
- 22:39Adelman, who many of our guests have said that he was going to
- 22:42get a head coaching job somewhere else no matter what.
- 22:44Now you're thinking the same thing with the board, which
- 22:46probably makes sense. He's been a hot commodity with
- 22:49every team he's gone to, but I just don't think the timing
- 22:51makes a lot of sense right now for this type of team.
- 22:53The board had happened in two other instances when he was
- 22:55hired by Vegas in the that was like 2 months into the season.
- 22:59That was a team that was already built.
- 23:01That was a team that just went to a Stanley Cup and they just
- 23:03got rid of Galan because the locker room issues.
- 23:05Then Dallas, the same kind of thing they got rid of Rick bonus
- 23:07was at the time was kind of a surprise.
- 23:09They had a bad year in the COVID shorten year, kind of a cup
- 23:12hangover. And then they got rid of Rick
- 23:15bonus, who's bumped around different teams since then and
- 23:17brought into Boer. But I don't think this type of
- 23:19team has anywhere close to the talent level that the Vegas or
- 23:22the Dallas Stars did at that time.
- 23:24It was a team still kind of in transition.
- 23:26They have good young talent for sure.
- 23:27They have some veteran talent that stepped up, but it's just
- 23:29it's a weird timing of it all to do it four games.
- 23:32Left and and this is the same thing.
- 23:34This is the same thing that the Golden Knights just did.
- 23:37They bring in a a very well known coach.
- 23:39You Ranger fans know very much about and so does the Vancouver
- 23:42fans for a little bit of time. And you decided to part ways
- 23:46with Cassidy who helped you win a Stanley Cup and also take in a
- 23:50Boston Bruins team to a Stanley Stanley Cup, a successful head
- 23:54coach and they were still a playoff team and they parted
- 23:58ways at the tail end. Well, 12 games left for what
- 24:01sense? What made any sense from that?
- 24:03It made no sense. Now is it going to work?
- 24:07Only time will tell. Only time will tell.
- 24:10So let me tell me is it is it is it an interim or is it four time
- 24:13he just? Now he's a four year deal.
- 24:15Four year deal, which is which. Cute.
- 24:19That's the other conservative thing too.
- 24:20He's always been one of those coaches that he does well early
- 24:24in his ten years with teams and then it'll fizzle out later.
- 24:27And I think a lot of coaches, that's a lot of a lot of times
- 24:30what you saw. You saw that with the Devils
- 24:31right away. They went to the Stanley Cup in
- 24:332012. They beat the Rangers in the
- 24:35Eastern Conference finals that year and then they fell off
- 24:37pretty badly where they didn't. They missed the playoffs for
- 24:39quite a while. And the same thing kind of
- 24:41happened with Vegas. Vegas is a very talented team,
- 24:43but they knew they had to get rid of him when that core was a
- 24:46workout. They bring in Cassidy and a
- 24:48year, a year or two later, they trade for Eichel the deadline
- 24:50before they missed the playoffs because the rest of their teams
- 24:52hurt. And then they win the Cup the
- 24:53next year. And I think that's the same kind
- 24:55of thing you're dealing with here.
- 24:56And he went to Dallas you forget about.
- 24:57That I know and Dallas was a different case.
- 24:59Now they went to the three straight Western Conference
- 25:01finals but never got over the hump.
- 25:02Now granted, I think Vegas was a better team than that year, but
- 25:05they definitely could have beaten Edmonds in one of those
- 25:06two times. But I again, it got fizzled out.
- 25:08Like you said, he had a bad relationship with Huntinger, bad
- 25:10relationship with Jason Roberts, and especially who was one of
- 25:13the supposed to be one of the better young players.
- 25:14He fell off the bat. A lot of bad relationships with
- 25:18goaltender. If you look at the goaltenders
- 25:20that he's dealt with now, he's going to an Islander team that
- 25:23has arguably the best goalie in the NHL.
- 25:25You can argue he is the best goalie in hockey right now and
- 25:30you send them over there. How does this make sense?
- 25:32It it only hurts, it only hurts the Islanders because this guy's
- 25:36been standing on his head all season long and now you're going
- 25:40to go into the playoffs. Let's say you make the playoffs.
- 25:42Are you going to trust that this guy is going to work well with
- 25:44Sorokin? I wouldn't think so.
- 25:46Yeah. And you?
- 25:47Mentioned something else too, like there's now, especially
- 25:49with Cassidy now available like you have him available, you have
- 25:52Laviolette available like why what?
- 25:55What's wrong with waiting on one of those three guys?
- 25:56All right, is the bore your main target?
- 25:58Fine, but if you miss out on de bore, go get Bruce Cassidy, go
- 26:01get the lobiolette. Like you could have done that.
- 26:03Lobiolette started early on with the Islanders and then Millbury
- 26:06dysfunction and got they got rid of him because Mike Millbury's
- 26:09an idiot. But nevertheless, like you have
- 26:11enough candidates out there that are going to do good things.
- 26:14If Carolina lose again in the playoff, maybe Rob Rimmore gets
- 26:17fired. He could be available.
- 26:18Like there are options that the Islanders had.
- 26:20They didn't have to rush everything for last four games
- 26:23of the season. It makes no sense.
- 26:25And and again, as an Islander fan, and I am an Islander fan,
- 26:28I'm wondering what is now. I'm not taking shots at Matthew
- 26:31Darsh and Island fans, please understand me right now.
- 26:35I I don't dislike Matthew Darsh. I like him.
- 26:38I think he's a good GMI, like what he did in the draft last
- 26:41year. I like what he's slowly but
- 26:43surely making this a young team. Lou La Morello has built a a
- 26:46veteran team, the oldest team in NHL.
- 26:49And slowly but surely, yeah, you got lucky.
- 26:51You won the draft, you got Matthew Shaffer.
- 26:53So good luck. You got very lucky.
- 26:55And then you, you made that trade for Noah Dobson.
- 26:57You moved him away. You went to Montreal, you
- 26:59brought in a goal scorer who's been very important to their
- 27:02offense and you brought in two first round draft picks.
- 27:04That could be the future of this organization.
- 27:07But what you've done wrong and what you've put yourself in is
- 27:11you're bringing a guy like Peter de Boer.
- 27:13Now, Peter de Boer could be great for the Islanders.
- 27:15You might be as an Islander for jumping for joy.
- 27:17Speedy likes to jump. I'll jump too.
- 27:19But my, my pecs might pop back and forth.
- 27:22The fact here is as an Islander fan, you wonder is this
- 27:27organization put in the right position to win?
- 27:30Even with Peter de Boer, even if you kept Patrick Wah, I would
- 27:34have waited for Cassidy, I would have waited for Laviolette and
- 27:37interviewed these guys. Before you just jump and hope
- 27:40that Peter de Boer is the guy and he's going to take this team
- 27:43to a championship that has. This team hasn't won a
- 27:45championship since the early 80's.
- 27:48The early 80s. When was the last time they were
- 27:51in the Stanley Cup? I know in the early 80s.
- 27:53They haven't made it since then. Yeah.
- 27:55So do you think it was a a decision just based off the late
- 27:59season mishaps and losing games or do you think it was something
- 28:02else that added to this, that they had to make a decision this
- 28:04quick? I think Matthew Darsh and
- 28:06Patrick Ward didn't like each other.
- 28:07I don't think Matthew Josh ever liked Patrick Ward.
- 28:10He was forced to keep Patrick Ward.
- 28:12And that's the problem with with professional sports.
- 28:15If you're hiring a coach, here's the thing, if you're hiring your
- 28:18GM, you hire the GM first over the coach.
- 28:21It's been a big problem for the New York Jets over the years.
- 28:23They hire the coach before the GM.
- 28:26They did that with Aaron Glenn. Aaron Glenn was hired and then
- 28:29they brought in Muji. Muji didn't want Aaron Glenn.
- 28:32Muji made a joke when he was out there at the press conference.
- 28:35He said, I interviewed Aaron Glenn.
- 28:36I liked him, but he didn't want to put in.
- 28:38I didn't hire him because he didn't hire him.
- 28:41So he hired Sean Payne. They were waiting for Sean Payne
- 28:44was to come become available and they traded first draft draft
- 28:47picks for him. They gave up talent for him.
- 28:50So he never wanted him. So what is he doing right now?
- 28:53Emoji is not making an excuse for Aaron Glenn.
- 28:55He's just making sure that he's going to put his team in the
- 28:58right position so he doesn't lose his job.
- 29:00Now you look at Matthew Dosh, Matthew Josh was handed the job.
- 29:05He was handed the job and he said you got to keep Patrick
- 29:08Wall and he's probably saying, well wait a second, I was picked
- 29:12to be the GMI could have picked and he could have taken any job
- 29:15because there were other teams that were very interested in
- 29:17Matthew Dodge. He was one of the highly
- 29:19profiled up and coming GM's he was and what happened?
- 29:24He took the Islander job. Why did he take the Islander
- 29:27job? Well, he took the Islander job.
- 29:29One reason why is the Islanders won the draft, they got the
- 29:32number one pick. So he had his pick of the litter
- 29:35and the way the Islanders were structured, he thought, I, I
- 29:39can't do any wrong. I mean, this is the oldest team
- 29:41in the NHL. They're they haven't been good
- 29:43for the last couple years. Lula Morello has been a joke.
- 29:46That's why we call him Sleeping Lou because he sleeps more than
- 29:49he understands where he is. He can't do wrong.
- 29:52So he took the team where he's going to keep his job for a
- 29:54significant amount of time and he won't have to worry about
- 29:57being fired. And that's why he is.
- 30:00So him take your Patrick Wall on was a joke.
- 30:03And now he's happy because he gets Peter de Boer.
- 30:06But to me, what when you look at Peter de Boer and his success,
- 30:11is that the success that you want to bring in for your
- 30:14organization and, and know that this guy has got, he's been to
- 30:19the promised land, but he's never won.
- 30:21He's been there what, 2-3 times and he's never won.
- 30:25That's scary. And the Islanders are trying to
- 30:28win. They haven't won in 30 something
- 30:30years, almost 40 years so. Kid, we got to move.
- 30:34On attack. Kid, we're going to move on to
- 30:36Golf Club in a bit. I just want to say maybe Lou
- 30:38Labarello should either learn football or Aaron Glenn should
- 30:40learn hockey. They'll be the perfect coach.
- 30:41GM Pier. If you don't know about it, Lula
- 30:43Morello. Lula Morello was not AGM for
- 30:47hockey when he came up as AGM and as an executive.
- 30:50He was doing it for. He was doing it for basketball
- 30:53and football. He was perfect.
- 30:55He was a basketball football director before he took over and
- 30:59he got his first GM job with the Devils and he's he was
- 31:02unbelievable for the Devils. He wants 3 Stanley Cups.
- 31:06He drafted Martin Brodeur, he built that organization.
- 31:09But you know what he did wrong and why he tailed off as AGM?
- 31:12Because he decided to keep old players re sign old players like
- 31:17Scott Stevens, Rob, I'm sorry, Scott Niedermeyer, all these
- 31:21guys that he drafted, he decided to keep him at the tail end of
- 31:24the career career and the team fell apart right in front of
- 31:26their eyes. He made some great change.
- 31:28Jason or not, he he he Bobby Ho leak.
- 31:31I remember I remember those teams.
- 31:33But guess what guys at the tail end he lost because he couldn't
- 31:39decide when do I move players and when do I decide they're
- 31:44done? And that's exactly what he did
- 31:45with the Islanders and that's why he doesn't have a job
- 31:47anymore. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 31:49my golf clap of the day. This deserves a golf clap, no
- 31:54doubt. Golf clap, golf clap.
- 31:58All right, ladies and gentlemen, my golf clap of the day is I, I,
- 32:02I don't know what's going on here.
- 32:03The Chicago Sky has traded WNBA All Star Angel Reese to Atlanta
- 32:09for the to the Atlanta Dream for not one but two first round
- 32:14draft picks, a 2027 and 2028 on Monday.
- 32:18Makes no sense, ladies and gentlemen.
- 32:20And here's the reason why. I know when you look at Angel
- 32:23Reese, she's 23 years old. She's one of the better
- 32:26rebounders in in right now in the WNBA.
- 32:29She's a star, She's the face, She's great.
- 32:32She's a troublemaker and you trade for a troublemaker.
- 32:37Now, right now, an organization like the Atlanta Dream that's
- 32:40looking to rebuild, looking to build around stars.
- 32:44Angel Reese is the girl you want to build around a person that
- 32:47doesn't get along with everybody, doesn't get along
- 32:50with teenage take shots at players on other organizations
- 32:53and teams, has her own thoughts about with the way the WNBA
- 32:57should be played and the game should be played.
- 32:59She's been an absolute weird personality, I would say to say
- 33:04the least. And she's she was the first
- 33:06woman to get a Reebok deal from Shaquille O'Neal and Allen.
- 33:08Ive isn't good for her. I'm I'm happy for her,
- 33:10congratulations to her. But as far as giving up two
- 33:14first round draft picks for Angel Reese, to me that's going
- 33:17to set Atlanta back a couple of years.
- 33:20I don't think this is a good move.
- 33:22This I, I just, I'm not a big fan of this move.
- 33:25I you say what, what is she averaging right now?
- 33:28She's averaging. How many rebounds she averaging?
- 33:31What do you mean how many rebounds she's averaging?
- 33:33We have a 14 rebounds. Yeah, she's avering to 14 and 11
- 33:36right now, and she's averaging about 3.7 assists right now.
- 33:40I got the numbers right in front of my face.
- 33:42To me, that doesn't win championships, bud.
- 33:45You got to be a good because you got to be a good team.
- 33:47Player 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds.
- 33:49She's not a good team player. She doesn't get along with
- 33:51teammates. That's why Chicago decided to
- 33:54pour ways with her. Why would Chicago want to give
- 33:57away their superstar if if they thought that she was a face and
- 34:02a personality that they can build around?
- 34:04She's 23 years old. She says something out of
- 34:07pocket, I can't remember exactly what.
- 34:09She. Says a lot of things out of
- 34:10context. You know, but it was just
- 34:11something recent that kind of rubbed in the wrong way.
- 34:13So they. Everything rubs me the wrong way
- 34:14when Angel Reese means she's rubbing.
- 34:19She's like top five, top two or three most viewed WNBA.
- 34:23And how does that help the basketball team?
- 34:25Has Chicago won? Anything.
- 34:29What has Chicago done since she's been there, bud?
- 34:32Say what? What has Chicago done since?
- 34:34Chicago's not a good team. Exactly.
- 34:36And why aren't they a good team? Because they got to deal with
- 34:39that mischief. Crazy woman.
- 34:41Their issues happened way before injuries.
- 34:44Got and they still got a problem with her when she was there.
- 34:46And what are they doing now? They're parting ways with her, a
- 34:4923 year old phenom that every she was the one that had took
- 34:53shots at Caitlin Clark. Caitlin Clark has helped the
- 34:56WNBA grow. She's brought, she has used.
- 34:59Yeah. What?
- 35:00What she done? Viewership.
- 35:03All this stuff matters. Oh yeah, it was just in the
- 35:06cart. Who's our arch rival?
- 35:08Here's my arch. You don't.
- 35:09Think they play on that. Here's what I think she is.
- 35:12I'm not saying Angel Reese isn't a person, a face.
- 35:15I'm not going to build my team around.
- 35:17I'm not giving away 2 first round draft picks for a woman
- 35:20that is uncontrollable. It's the WNBA, it's not a lot of
- 35:24talent. You act like it's a.
- 35:26A billion dollar deal. So.
- 35:29What do you mean, Saul? So what?
- 35:31No, I didn't. Who would you say, Caitlin?
- 35:33Clark has helped him get TV deals and bring in billions of
- 35:37dollars. Has Adrian Reef.
- 35:38Oh, really? Really.
- 35:40Yes, he has to have a rival. It's the magic bird rival she
- 35:43was. Bitching and moaning when
- 35:45Caitlin Clark got that big huge deal from Nike.
- 35:47Oh well, I do not get it. Well, I have another girls.
- 35:50Got it. Major this she got a Reebok.
- 35:52Yeah, she got a Reebok deal because they couldn't find
- 35:54anybody else to sign with Reebok.
- 35:56They can't find nobody they couldn't find.
- 35:57Anybody else they would have to share?
- 36:00I mean to try to get. Dude, it was all over Netflix.
- 36:04It was all over Netflix. I watched the whole episode.
- 36:08The only person that was interested in signing with them
- 36:10was Angel Reese. They went to Shay, they went to
- 36:13Kawai, they went to everybody. They're all said no.
- 36:17They all said no. But guess who said yes?
- 36:20Angel Reese. Angel Reese.
- 36:21Angel Reese. Good for.
- 36:22Her shoes selling too. Man, Oh yeah, great.
- 36:25Ugliest shoes I've ever seen in my.
- 36:27Time no way, no way ugly all right now you just hate it dude.
- 36:30It's just say I'm a hate it. She's got these ugly purple
- 36:33sneakers. That make me wear a purple shoe.
- 36:35I like purple, it's one of my favorite colors.
- 36:37I would never buy an Angel Reese shoe.
- 36:39They're ugly. Hater.
- 36:40Just say I'm a hater then. I'm not a hater.
- 36:42Because of the shoes. Yes, you're right, I'm a hater.
- 36:44For her shoes. I'm a hater for her shoes.
- 36:46They're ugly ugly sin. I'd rather take a dump and make
- 36:51that the color of my shoes than the purple ugly ones.
- 36:53The. Purple nurples the purple.
- 36:55Nurples that she has over there. You want to go and buy a Reebok
- 36:58shoe? What are they, $1415.00 Right
- 37:00now? Nobody's buying them.
- 37:02No, that was like 80. That was like 80, I think 80.
- 37:04Two, I rest my case. Overpriced. 0140 we both for
- 37:08them. I'm selling out now.
- 37:10I'm not buying her sneaker. Look at anyways.
- 37:12Line, line, line. The folks won't.
- 37:15Huh. They want them shoes.
- 37:16Look at. That Why don't you buy them?
- 37:18Why don't you buy the shoes? If my daughter was older, I.
- 37:21Would here, here's the shoe. Yeah.
- 37:23Like if she had a beautiful shoe like this.
- 37:25If she had a shoe like this, that'd be different.
- 37:28I'd buy those shoes. Overrated.
- 37:29No overrated support. Overrated.
- 37:32Can't tell it overrated. These are beautiful.
- 37:35It's only because of the rare is the reason these.
- 37:37Are beautiful. I can dance and prance around.
- 37:40You see that, Look at it. I can move.
