- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, welcome back.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: It's the Skincare Anarchy.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: This episode is gonna be pretty short, but it's very, very special to me because we recently were able to publish a paper that I was kind of skeptical about at first because usually in the medical community it's you know, or rather, what I'm used to is you publish data um that you collect through experiments, but the review and the mini review um sector of medical research and publishing is um it's very new to me.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: But um luckily we are now um collaborating with a wonderful medical journal.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Um, and this journal is actually um everything I was looking for.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: It's you know, they everything they publish is double blind, it's um a clinical dermatology journal.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: So there's gonna be a lot more articles that we publish with them, and because it's open access, um, which is something I really wanted because I wanted um all of our listeners, um, you guys just go onto the website um where the article is and be able to access um whatever we write.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: And this is real science that's been reviewed by um, you know, a review committee that consists of doctors and scientists and people who really know their stuff.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: So for us at Skincare Anarchy, this is huge, um, in the sense that this was always part of my vision, which was to bring the science community into the um realm of beauty, skincare, skin health, and I feel like we're finally taking our steps towards doing that.
- 2:09SPEAKER_01: So I hope you guys will check out that article.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: It is um b the the topic of the article is um blue light, and I know this is a very interesting topic because we have a lot of brands that say, you know, you need to be wearing sunscreen all the time, even if you're sitting in front of your laptop or if you're you know looking at your phone.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: And you know, when we went through the literature, we found um some really interesting stuff which was you know kind of not contradicting it, but it was it was definitely not validating these claims.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: So I really urge all of you to go check out that article.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: We will be posting it on the Instagram um page and you know, kind of like giving you a little summary of what's in there, but the the article is basically called you know thymine dimers and if they play a role um, you know, in the in the uh progression of uh skin melanoma and you know what this has to do with blue light, because and the reason I you know I chose this topic was because when we talk about any kind of cancer that forms in the skin due to UV um, you know, UV rays, it's usually due to this mutation that occurs in our s in our um DNA, which is and they're called thymine dimers.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: And um thiamine is actually one of the nucleotides in our body.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: So, you know, when these two if you have uh two thymines that are next to each other in a DNA sequence, they'll what happens is they're gonna like crunch together and form this little like almost like they melt together.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: So what happens when that when that occurs is that um you know our normal machinery in our body can't um make normal proteins, and so we get this really you know kind of downstream effect that's you know it's due to this mutation and it leads to cells not being able to do what they're supposed to normally do, and you know, it just causes a lot of disruption in normal cell function because it is on the DNA level, and you know, this is really the you know biggest hallmark in skin cancers in terms of like you know what they teach in medical school, what they what dermatologists will tell you about you know um the effects of UV rays and stuff.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: So we really really wanted to touch on this topic, and we uh reviewed all the literature out there, you know, it was a lengthy process, but we have compiled all of that information in a mini review for everyone who is interested in the extra science and wants to learn um you know just that little bit more, right?
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: About um the cellular level of things and and and wants to really understand skin cancer.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: So definitely go check that out.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Um, and you know, I while we're here, I am going to urge you guys again.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: I know this was in the beginning of the episode, but Dr.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: Dennis uh Gross, who I recently had on our podcast, is going to be holding this phenomenal masterclass.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: Um, it's basically for anyone who wants to do a deep dive into all of the latest skincare ingredients, all the trends, any breakthroughs we've seen recently.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it Dr.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: Gross himself is going to be, you know, teaching this masterclass and it's gonna be about everything skin.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: So some of the topics are gonna be, you know, um obviously the science science of peeling, which is um a hallmark in the line that he's created because his peel wipes are just iconic and they're so so game-changing for anyone who's really into taking care of their skin and you're really interested in skin health.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, these for me, these uh wipes were a total game changer, like my skin completely changed after I started using them.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: So he's gonna be talking about them, he's gonna be really going into the science of that, and in addition to that, he's gonna unveil some never before seen clinical data and really talk about some of the mysteries and how hydroxy acids work and um discuss a unique cocktail that he's created of anti-aging ingredients and how they work for the skin and how they all kind of come together in this synergistic effect.

- 6:27SPEAKER_01: He is truly a master of his craft and and and knows, you know, science in and out when it comes to dermatology.
