- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:03Don't underestimate the value and power of prayer.
- 1:07Many things viewed through the lens of the world will seem impossible,
- 1:11but God says He inclines His ear towards us and that all things are possible to Him that believes.
- 1:18Join us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries as Kim takes a close look at Psalms 41.
- 1:25I waited patiently for the Lord, and he inclined unto me and heard my prayer.
- 1:32Hello and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 1:35I'm not sure there's anything more satisfying to your soul than knowing God hears your prayers.
- 1:46So many times in the scriptures, we are encouraged to bring our burden to the Lord.
- 1:51And so many times in the scriptures, we are told that if we ask,
- 1:56we'll receive. If we seek, we'll find. If we'll knock, it'll be opened unto us.
- 2:00Hebrews chapter 14 explains to us that we are to come boldly to the throne of God.
- 2:05He tells us to cast our cares upon him, for he cares for us.
- 2:10All through the scriptures we are
- 2:13given the promises the examples and
- 2:16the encouragement to come to the lord with
- 2:19our burdens to come to the lord expecting an
- 2:22answer to come to the lord expecting relief and i'm fairly certain that everyone
- 2:28who hears this message if they're honest with themselves would say they found
- 2:33themselves sometimes in their life where they were in a position where they
- 2:37desperately needed God's intervention.
- 2:40I imagine that we have found ourselves for a period of time,
- 2:45and sometimes for an extended period of time, where we were praying for God
- 2:50to come and answer our prayer, that we needed whatever that oppression was to cease,
- 2:56and that I'm certain that there has been needs in your life that you came diligently
- 3:00to God on your own behalf or on the behalf of others requesting that God would meet that need.
- 3:07We've come desperately wanting God to reveal himself to us.
- 3:13The psalmist David in Psalms chapter 40 writes these words in verses 11 and 12.
- 3:19He says, withhold not thou tender mercies from me, O Lord.
- 3:23Let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
- 3:27For innumerable evils have compassed me about.
- 3:30My iniquities have taken hold upon me so that I'm not able to look up.
- 3:34They are more than the hairs of my head. therefore my
- 3:38heart felleth me the psalmist
- 3:41David is in that very predicament that I was talking
- 3:44about in that place where he desperately needed God and in verse 11 he begins
- 3:51with withhold not thou thy tender
- 3:55mercies from me he begins to tell you in verse 11 how he knows who God is.
- 4:02And so when you read verse 1 of chapter
- 4:0540 you understand what he says when he
- 4:07says i waited patiently for the lord he could
- 4:11wait patiently for the lord to deliver him from his oppression and to deliver
- 4:16him from the things that were causing him such a burden and to provide for him
- 4:21what he had need of because he knew who god was and he proves that to us in
- 4:26verse 11 when he says Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me.
- 4:31O Lord, let thy loving kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
- 4:38David understood his own frailties. And David understood that he wasn't worthy of an almighty God.
- 4:47And that he had nothing about him or within himself that would enable him to
- 4:53deserve God, to preserve him. but he knew who God was and he trusted in him.
- 5:01In verse 3, he says, and he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God.
- 5:07Many shall see it in fear and shall trust in the Lord.
- 5:12David understood as he came patiently, waiting for God to deliver him,
- 5:18waiting for God to give him the answer that he was asking.
- 5:21He understood that when he did, he would have a new outlook on life and that
- 5:26God would make all things beautiful again. And that the things that people meant
- 5:30for harm for us and the devil meant for no good, that he would turn for good.
- 5:35And David understood that God would be glorified in all things if he would just follow.
- 5:42And in verse 12 of Psalms chapter 40, we are given the full understanding that David was not perfect.
- 5:50And David didn't always get it right. But one thing was true about David. He knew who God was.
- 5:58And his knowledge of God and his knowledge of what God could do for him was
- 6:03enough to allow him to wait patiently.
- 6:06Now, patience isn't one of my greatest virtues, but I can wait on God to do it.
- 6:11You see, once I come to that realization that I need to give it to God,
- 6:16and that should be instantaneously, and once I give it to God,
- 6:21I can wait for God to fix it.
- 6:25I've heard stories in my life where people have prayed for years upon years
- 6:30upon years for the salvation of their loved one.
- 6:34And when the whole world had given up on it, God saved that soul because he was tender towards him.
- 6:43And he was patient with him and honoring the prayers of those that prayed until
- 6:48somebody finally spoke of Jesus in a way that broke through.
- 6:53And the Holy Spirit never gave up knocking on that person's heart's door because
- 6:58somebody prayed patiently.
- 7:01So many of us will pray about something for a little while, one,
- 7:07two days, maybe even a couple weeks.
- 7:10And we might even have in our hearts a desire to do it longer when we first start.
- 7:18But something fades.
- 7:22And we cease praying for it when it doesn't happen. Do you know what I think fades?
- 7:27I think it's our knowledge that God is working.
- 7:31You see, none of us want to do something continually and not see any progress.
- 7:37And for the Christian, we're no different. But we have to see progress through
- 7:42eyes of faith sometimes.
- 7:44We have to know that God is working because of what God speaks in our heart,
- 7:48because of what he shows in his scriptures, because the King David said that.
- 7:52He waited patiently for the Lord and he inclined unto me and heard my cry.
- 7:59You see, David also explains later on in the scriptures that we can't hold iniquity
- 8:04in our heart or God won't hear our prayers.
- 8:07But David shows us how to have a breakthrough. We don't have to send money to
- 8:12the local church. We don't have to send money to the guy on TV.
- 8:15We don't have to do the Facebook thing and God will prosper us.
- 8:19We've got to do business with Jesus, who is our advocate with God the Father.
- 8:26And we've got to understand in our hearts that we have to believe that he is
- 8:32and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
- 8:35And we have to pray knowing that the answer is on the way.
- 8:38I love it when I understood that when I give it to God, I need to follow it with, thank you, Lord.
- 8:47I got to know in my heart that he has taken care of it and that the answer is coming.
- 8:53And I want to thank him for the answer. When you do it that way,
- 8:57there is no doubt that you are trusting in him.
- 9:01And you know what? You'll walk away from that prayer and you'll have peace that
- 9:05passeth understanding and a joy unspeakable and full of glory.
- 9:09I mean praising him for the answer before you see it with your eyes.
- 9:14That's what David was doing when he waited patiently
- 9:18because see if you don't see it with your eyes that's
- 9:21okay but if you don't see it with your heart you're
- 9:25not going to continually sit there in joy in peace
- 9:29in that all knowing that all is
- 9:32well entrusted in faith you're not going to do that you're
- 9:36going to be anxious and the Bible says don't
- 9:39be anxious for anything you see you got to
- 9:41be willing to take god's answer because you know
- 9:44who he is you see i've prayed many
- 9:47a prayer for god to heal someone and in my heart and in my mind i had an idea
- 9:52of what i thought that would look like but god had a different idea and god
- 9:56healed him completely when he took him to the other side but you see i could
- 10:01stand in my heart and in my mind and in my christian and walk and say, thank you, Lord.
- 10:08Because I waited patiently, not because I'm special, but because I am the child
- 10:13of the Most High God, and He never makes a mistake.
- 10:17And when your faith is wavering, it's time to read. When your faith is wavering, it's time to pray.
- 10:24When your faith is wavering, it's time to do business with Jesus,
- 10:28and you need to talk to Him, and you can ask Him, Lord, increase my faith.
- 10:32Lord, help me see in your scriptures something today that's going to help me
- 10:37wait patiently I know who you are, Lord.
- 10:39I love you, Lord. But something's a little wrong in my heart right now.
- 10:43I need you to sweep through and clean it.
- 10:45I need you to let me know that the world didn't give it to me and the world can't take it away.
- 10:50I need you to let me feel the sun in my soul when there is rain in my sky.
- 10:55Lord, I need you to help me today. Lord, don't let me falter. Don't let me waver.
- 11:01Lord, give me the breakthrough. And I want the breakthrough,
- 11:04Lord, that just lets me know that I've given it to you and you've got it.
- 11:07And you're the almighty God that loves me. And let me wait patiently.
- 11:11Let me remember that your ear is here. Lord, let me know of your loving kindness.
- 11:18Lord, let me feel your mercies. That's the kind of breakthrough I'm talking about.
- 11:24Because you see, the answer's not in your hands.
- 11:28The results are not up to you. You can't do a thing.
- 11:32The Bible says you can't even add one second to your life. Don't worry.
- 11:39And that sparrow out there, the Lord feeds that sparrow and that sparrow don't have a soul.
- 11:45That sparrow's not created in his image, but you are my friend.
- 11:51And he died for you. How much more is he going to take care of you?
- 11:56The Bible says if you can believe all things are possible to him that believeth,
- 12:01Oh, don't underestimate the value and the power of prayer.
- 12:05Give it to God. I mean, really give it to Him. Cast your care upon Him.
- 12:11Don't pull it back. Don't get up from the altar wondering what happened.
- 12:15But that's going to require you knowing him so that you can wait patiently.
- 12:19I promise you that when you wait patiently, he's going to incline his ear to you.
- 12:24He's going to hear your cry. And the answer will be better than you could have
- 12:29ever imagined or dreamed up.
- 12:31Because God is in control. And Jesus loves you, this I know.
- 12:36Your breakthrough is waiting on the other side of your prayer.
