- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to just the cats with michael bennett.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello big blue nation welcome to just the cats my
- 0:15Speaker 2: name is michael bennett on this thursday october 8th i
- 0:20Speaker 2: you know usually i have to go look at my
- 0:22Speaker 2: phone to see what date it is but today i
- 0:24Speaker 2: uh i was like i was ready to reach over
- 0:26Speaker 2: and see what the date is like oh i don't
- 0:27Speaker 2: have to today so anyway but uh Hope everybody's having
- 0:30Speaker 2: a great day so far. I, I, yes, I'm exhausted.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I am tired. You're right, Justin. I look tired, but I, I,
- 0:38Speaker 2: I've never been happier in my life. Good morning to you.
- 0:40Speaker 2: How are you doing in Louisville?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Good morning. I'm great. I am just happy for you.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Happy birthday. It's a, it's a big day for you.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Raise one. You got to race tonight. I know you're,
- 0:50Speaker 1: you're living large.
- 0:51Speaker 2: My friend. Yeah, I am. I just, I'm having a
- 0:56Speaker 2: time in my life right now. I'll tell you that. But, uh,
- 1:00Speaker 2: I will say it's as exciting as this has been,
- 1:04Speaker 2: I'm exhausted. Because, you know, I was talking about it yesterday.
- 1:08Speaker 2: My son, Mason, was telling me, now, Dad, if you're
- 1:13Speaker 2: going to wear race stuff and I'm going to wear
- 1:15Speaker 2: race stuff with you, people are going to yell at you.
- 1:17Speaker 2: People are going to randomly yell and say stuff and
- 1:20Speaker 2: it's not going to be nice and just be prepared
- 1:22Speaker 2: for it. Don't say anything back. Don't look at me.
- 1:25Speaker 2: I mean, all these things I cannot do. And I
- 1:29Speaker 2: will have to say, everything that Mason said was going
- 1:32Speaker 2: to happen was the absolute opposite.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And I was really, honestly, surprised by it. So my
- 1:40Speaker 2: son lives what they call downtown in an area of
- 1:43Speaker 2: New York City called Tribeca. And so it is at
- 1:50Speaker 2: the absolute, almost most southern part. So if you know
- 1:53Speaker 2: where the World Trade Center is, he lives about five
- 1:56Speaker 2: blocks from there. And that's where I am right now
- 1:59Speaker 2: in his apartment. And so from there, you have to
- 2:02Speaker 2: take a subway all the way to the opposite end
- 2:05Speaker 2: up to the Bronx where the Yankee stadium is. So
- 2:07Speaker 2: we took the subway up there. How long does that take?
- 2:10Speaker 2: It took about 25, 30 minutes. It really wasn't that bad.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And so I got on the train. We rode up there.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Everybody's kind of looking at me and then looking at
- 2:22Speaker 2: Mason and smiling and then We get to the game
- 2:26Speaker 2: really early. People were exceptionally nice to us. Are you
- 2:31Speaker 2: from Florida? What part of Florida? You know, they all
- 2:33Speaker 2: ask the same questions.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And of course, there's a.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Tiny bit of confidence in them that they were going
- 2:38Speaker 2: to win. And quite honestly, I will tell you right now, Justin,
- 2:41Speaker 2: I was prepared for a loss last night. I just,
- 2:45Speaker 2: I was confident the Rays would lose. And that's a
- 2:50Speaker 2: good thing because now you're prepared for it. And if
- 2:52Speaker 2: they win, oh my goodness. things are even better.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Did that change early on when they scored that early run?
- 2:59Speaker 1: By the way, what was the atmosphere like when they
- 3:02Speaker 1: scored that first run?
- 3:04Speaker 2: It was quiet.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Was it? Oh, yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I mean, I think the Yankee fans were in shock
- 3:11Speaker 2: that here this lowly St. Petersburg Tampa Bay team comes
- 3:15Speaker 2: in here and pays what, the third or fourth least
- 3:19Speaker 2: amount of money for their players, and the Yankees are
- 3:21Speaker 2: one of the top three And here we come in
- 3:24Speaker 2: there and we're two games up. A lot of the
- 3:28Speaker 2: fans were the ones that we interacted with. By the way,
- 3:31Speaker 2: they were the nicest people in the world. They were saying, yeah,
- 3:34Speaker 2: it's going to be tough for the Yankees to come back.
- 3:36Speaker 2: You know, you're 2-0 down. It's tough to come back
- 3:39Speaker 2: and win. And that's the one thing I'm going to
- 3:42Speaker 2: tell you right now. New Yorkers in general get bad
- 3:46Speaker 2: rap that they're rude people. I have never had any
- 3:51Speaker 2: experience where they have been rude to me. It's always
- 3:54Speaker 2: been visitors. It's always been tourists that have been rude.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's not the New Yorkers. And like we had a
- 4:01Speaker 2: couple of gentlemen sitting in front of us. They worked
- 4:04Speaker 2: together and they came to the ballgame and they saw
- 4:08Speaker 2: us and, oh, we got the enemy behind us. They
- 4:10Speaker 2: were cutting up with us and they won. They want
- 4:12Speaker 2: to talk more about the horses because I told my
- 4:14Speaker 2: head of horse racing at Belmont. They want to talk
- 4:16Speaker 2: more about that than baseball.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because it's more sunshine and rainbows than their Yankees.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Oh, exactly. So I had a couple of guys that
- 4:24Speaker 2: came in from Long Island next to me and they
- 4:28Speaker 2: wanted to talk about Florida more than they want to
- 4:31Speaker 2: talk about the Yankees. And I mean, because I'm taking
- 4:34Speaker 2: it in. We got there. I think it was about
- 4:37Speaker 2: like an hour and forty five, two hours early. Mason,
- 4:40Speaker 2: I just. It was our, it was his, he's already
- 4:42Speaker 2: been to the new Yankee stadium. I hadn't been to
- 4:44Speaker 2: the new Yankee stadium and I just wanted to soak
- 4:47Speaker 2: it in. And he did too, especially playoff. And it was,
- 4:51Speaker 2: it was just, it was just the night. I'll never
- 4:54Speaker 2: forget because of the fact that that's just one of
- 4:56Speaker 2: those kind of, like I said yesterday, a bucket list situation.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And as we're, when the game's over, we stayed to
- 5:04Speaker 2: watch the Ray celebrate. And I mean, Yankee fans are
- 5:07Speaker 2: passing by. Congratulations. Congratulations. Go beat the next and you
- 5:12Speaker 2: get to the world series. I mean, they could not
- 5:13Speaker 2: have been nicer. It was honestly, I was surprised by
- 5:16Speaker 2: that because Mason told me they're going to yell at me.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Did you see many other race fans? Oh my gosh.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So like a section down from us, they said it
- 5:24Speaker 2: was a lot of the family of the race and
- 5:28Speaker 2: they were celebrating like crazy. Oh yeah. That's and Yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I didn't take my shirt off. So, just letting you know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: If anybody's going to ask me, somebody texted me last night,
- 5:38Speaker 2: talk to Michael. Like, yeah, no, I didn't. I didn't
- 5:41Speaker 2: do it.
- 5:41Speaker 1: What did you eat?
- 5:48Speaker 2: What a question.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I'm curious.
- 5:51Speaker 2: So, I was fascinated by this one thing they offered
- 5:54Speaker 2: at Yankee Stadium. They had a huge steak sandwich. They
- 5:58Speaker 2: had hot dogs. They did have all kinds of stuff. But,
- 6:01Speaker 2: They had this cup where on top of it was
- 6:05Speaker 2: this other cup where your French fries. So you had
- 6:09Speaker 2: your drink underneath. And then the other cup that was
- 6:12Speaker 2: like a bowl sat on top of the cup of
- 6:15Speaker 2: your drink. And inside that cup was your French fries
- 6:20Speaker 2: and your chicken strips. And that's what I got. And
- 6:25Speaker 2: then in the middle of it, a straw would go
- 6:27Speaker 2: down so that you could sip your drink without having
- 6:30Speaker 2: to remove the cup to get the chicken out of
- 6:34Speaker 2: the way.
- 6:34Speaker 1: You're telling me.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You went to a playoff game at Yankee Stadium.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I did.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And got chicken tenders and fries.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I did. Because I was fascinated by the cups that
- 6:48Speaker 2: they had with it. Yeah, I know it's weird.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Did you eat ice cream?
- 6:52Speaker 2: No, I didn't. I just that was all I had.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I was full and I didn't eat half of that.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Mason ate the rest of it. So I wasn't really hungry.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I was nervous. Just like I like the game Saturday night.
- 7:04Speaker 2: LSU UK. I won't I won't hardly eat anything because
- 7:08Speaker 2: I'll be so nervous. I just won't be interested in food. Now,
- 7:12Speaker 2: I might get some of the kettle corn because I
- 7:13Speaker 2: think they make the best kettle corn at the Commonwealth Stadium.
- 7:17Speaker 2: But no, I just I just wasn't hungry. But I
- 7:18Speaker 2: was fascinated by the cup. and the bowl on top
- 7:22Speaker 2: of it, and the bowl, and then the center of it,
- 7:24Speaker 2: you put your straw down, and you can drink it.
- 7:26Speaker 2: You didn't have to remove it. I thought it was awesome.
- 7:27Speaker 2: It was just genius.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I can't believe you didn't go steak sandwich. You mentioned
- 7:31Speaker 1: steak sandwich, but you end up with tenders and fries.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 7:35Speaker 1: It was a huge steak sandwich.
- 7:36Speaker 2: That you can get anywhere. I know. I know.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Was it good, at least?
- 7:40Speaker 2: No, it was terrible. It was... And that was the part...
- 7:43Speaker 2: That's probably why I didn't eat the rest of it, either.
- 7:45Speaker 2: I just gave it to Mace. It was horrible. But.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Now.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Was that... A home run in your mind by Volta,
- 7:55Speaker 2: or was it a double? Did they rule it the
- 7:58Speaker 2: correct way? Did you see where the fans reached out?
- 8:00Speaker 2: All right, so they did reach out. Yes. All right.
- 8:03Speaker 2: That's the way I saw it, and I think they
- 8:05Speaker 2: called it correctly. Now, my question, though, is when a
- 8:11Speaker 2: ball is hit towards you, it's hard not to react
- 8:15Speaker 2: to reach out for that ball. Is that fair to say? Absolutely.
- 8:19Speaker 2: So it wasn't but five minutes later, they escorted those
- 8:22Speaker 2: guys out that reached out for the ball.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Really?
- 8:26Speaker 2: Yes. So it was fan interference. And because of that,
- 8:30Speaker 2: they were kicked out of the game. Do you think
- 8:32Speaker 2: that is fair? Or is that an antiquated rule that
- 8:35Speaker 2: needs to be completely changed? And they should be allowed
- 8:38Speaker 2: to stay at the game?
- 8:40Speaker 1: I don't think in that situation last night, they should
- 8:42Speaker 1: have been removed. Now, maybe... Could it have been they
- 8:46Speaker 1: were being removed for their own safety? Because we talked
- 8:49Speaker 1: about it on my show this morning. I mean, I'm
- 8:50Speaker 1: sure they probably faced some things if other Yankees fans
- 8:54Speaker 1: recognized them. I'm sure they would get some things thrown
- 8:57Speaker 1: at them or things said their way. So I don't–
- 9:00Speaker 1: unless it was being removed for their own safety, I
- 9:02Speaker 1: don't think that was– I don't think it was egregious
- 9:05Speaker 1: enough for them to be kicked out of the game, no.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But you're right. I mean, it is instinctual to grab
- 9:11Speaker 1: for a ball. But in that scenario– If he just
- 9:15Speaker 1: sits in his seat, that ball's going to land right
- 9:18Speaker 1: in his lap. I don't know why he was so
- 9:20Speaker 1: gung-ho to grab it. It was going. That ball was out.
- 9:23Speaker 1: That ball was out.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It was short.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It was short. It was going to bounce off the
- 9:28Speaker 1: top of the wall right into his bread basket. I
- 9:31Speaker 1: promise it was. It wasn't going to hit the top
- 9:34Speaker 1: of the wall. That ball was gone. Okay.
- 9:37Speaker 2: All right. I'm going to disagree with you. The ball
- 9:39Speaker 2: was short.
- 9:40Speaker 1: But my vantage point was better than your vantage point.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I've seen every review of it and it was short.
- 9:50Speaker 2: It was going to hit not the very top, but
- 9:53Speaker 2: towards the top, but on the side of the fence.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Now he couldn't catch it. OK. All right, then. Well,
- 9:58Speaker 2: we're just going to have to disagree. It's my birthday.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm right.
- 10:00Speaker 2: OK, so get over it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Fair enough.
- 10:03Speaker 2: But but I just don't like it. Maybe it was
- 10:06Speaker 2: for safety reasons, but I don't know if I necessarily
- 10:09Speaker 2: think that because unfortunately, everybody got a video of them
- 10:13Speaker 2: being escorted out of the stadium. And so everybody knows
- 10:17Speaker 2: who it was, which I feel bad for the guy.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Because I can tell you, if it was me out there,
- 10:23Speaker 2: I would have reached out to try and catch the ball.
- 10:25Speaker 2: It's just a reaction. You cannot help that reaction.
- 10:30Speaker 1: So in real time when that happened, were you like, oh, gosh. Oh, yeah.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Tie game. We're screwed. They got all the momentum.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I told Mason, I said, let's go. I'm out of here. Oh,
- 10:43Speaker 2: I was so done. And, of course, he's laughing at me. But, yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 2: I just thought, okay, here's the momentum swing that they needed,
- 10:50Speaker 2: the complete game shift. And I thought the game was
- 10:53Speaker 2: over at that point.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Now, was it super loud with boos when they came
- 10:58Speaker 1: out and made the call?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Well, I wouldn't say it was super loud. It was
- 11:02Speaker 2: loud with boos. But I think a lot of people
- 11:05Speaker 2: realized it was the right call. And it's just unfortunate
- 11:08Speaker 2: that happened. I mean, if that fan had not, who
- 11:11Speaker 2: knows what would have happened to that game. You hate
- 11:13Speaker 2: to say it was that one play. It wasn't that
- 11:15Speaker 2: one play. But, I mean, it was definitely a momentum
- 11:19Speaker 2: shift one way for a couple of minutes and then
- 11:22Speaker 2: completely the opposite way the next couple of minutes and
- 11:25Speaker 2: for the rest of the game. But it was a
- 11:28Speaker 2: lot of fun. I mean, I'd do it again. We
- 11:31Speaker 2: were ready to buy tickets for tonight's game, but thank
- 11:34Speaker 2: goodness we didn't. We didn't have to.
- 11:36Speaker 1: You were going to go again tonight if they play?
- 11:38Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely. I was going to go. And I know
- 11:40Speaker 2: I was going to jinx it and they were going
- 11:42Speaker 2: to lose. And then they'd go back to St. Pete.
- 11:45Speaker 2: And guess what? They would lose it in three games.
- 11:47Speaker 2: So that's because that's how I think. But can I
- 11:51Speaker 2: tell you about the ride back on the subway, though?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Please do.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. So it was jam packed with people
- 12:00Speaker 2: trying to get on the subway in the first place.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Soon as the doors opened to the subway, people started
- 12:06Speaker 2: shoving you. And, I mean, I'm about ready to fall.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You get in there. And, I mean, they are pushing,
- 12:13Speaker 2: trying to get as many people on the subway car.
- 12:16Speaker 2: For a guy that's claustrophobic, that was a nightmare. That
- 12:20Speaker 2: was the worst case scenario. I thought I was in
- 12:22Speaker 2: a nightmare, just to let you know. I mean, my
- 12:24Speaker 2: dream about a truck running down my front door the
- 12:27Speaker 2: other night, this was far worse. Because, I mean, they
- 12:30Speaker 2: were squishing you. trying to get in that subway. That
- 12:33Speaker 2: sounds like the good news is, well, what made it
- 12:37Speaker 2: best is I had two pretty girls next to me
- 12:38Speaker 2: and they were squeezing in. I said, ma'am, I'm not
- 12:40Speaker 2: touching you. I promise. So, uh, but then she just
- 12:44Speaker 2: kind of looked at me and laughed. So, uh, I said,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I promise I'm not some creepy old guy, but.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Uh, that's exactly what a creepy old guy would say. Oh,
- 12:52Speaker 1: come on.
- 12:52Speaker 2: That is not what a creepy old guy would say.
- 12:55Speaker 2: But no, the crazy part was, um, The young lady
- 12:59Speaker 2: I was talking to, she had a Tampa Bay Rays hat.
- 13:01Speaker 2: She now lives in New York. And I started talking
- 13:05Speaker 2: to her and she said, oh, you're from St. Pete too?
- 13:07Speaker 2: And I said, yeah, well, we have a place down there.
- 13:09Speaker 2: And she said, I said, where I'm really from? She goes,
- 13:14Speaker 2: I was just in Louisville two weeks ago for a wedding.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Then she says, I was at Harmony Landing Country Club.
- 13:24Speaker 2: which is five minutes from my house, the club that
- 13:27Speaker 2: I belong to, Big Springs Harmony Landing. And it was
- 13:29Speaker 2: just too many weird things. And then she ends up
- 13:32Speaker 2: knowing people I know in Louisville. And then Mason knows
- 13:36Speaker 2: people she grew up with in St. Petersburg. It was
- 13:39Speaker 2: just crazy. And here we are meeting on a subway
- 13:43Speaker 2: after a ball game in a jam-packed subway. So it
- 13:46Speaker 2: was just wild.
- 13:46Speaker 1: One of those small world moments.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Oh, exactly. It definitely was. But anyway, all right, we've
- 13:52Speaker 2: got to talk about football.
- 13:54Speaker 1: I could talk about this baseball game all day.
- 13:56Speaker 2: You can ask me anything you want.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I was locked in. I watched the first pitch to
- 14:00Speaker 1: the last pitch.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Did you really?
- 14:03Speaker 1: Really?
- 14:04Speaker 2: No.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Well, no, because it started at 8, didn't it?
- 14:07Speaker 2: It started at 8 o'clock, yes.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I think I went to bed around 9, 45, 10.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I saw, I think, the first six innings.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Well, then you missed the ball game, basically.
- 14:16Speaker 1: No kidding.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, so, but no, I, I'm like you, I
- 14:21Speaker 2: could talk about it all day, but I don't think
- 14:22Speaker 2: people that are listening to this radio station, a little
- 14:24Speaker 2: Kentucky want to hear about Ray's baseball. So, and I
- 14:27Speaker 2: don't blame him. Plus, you know, we're two days out now. Uh,
- 14:31Speaker 2: the one thing I liked is that, uh, they had, uh, uh,
- 14:35Speaker 2: officially displayed the power K at Commonwealth stadium and it
- 14:40Speaker 2: looked fantastic.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I disagree.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Oh, you don't like it.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I don't like it.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Tell me why.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I don't like the white circle around it.
- 14:49Speaker 2: I love it.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I don't know. Why couldn't they just put the Power
- 14:53Speaker 1: K on the midfield? I don't understand why you had
- 14:56Speaker 1: to put that goofy white circle around it.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Okay, you don't like the circle. I don't. Okay. Well,
- 15:01Speaker 2: that's reminiscent of the old. Some of the old helmets
- 15:05Speaker 2: had stickers that looked exactly like that. And I think
- 15:08Speaker 2: that's where it's coming from. So I liked it. And
- 15:12Speaker 2: I understand you might not like it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I like the Power K.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I know what you're saying.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I think it's a goop. I don't know. Maybe it's
- 15:21Speaker 1: just because I feel like the circle's maybe too big.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Maybe they needed to make the actual K bigger, and
- 15:27Speaker 1: I think maybe it would have looked a little bit better. But, yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 1: for me, it didn't do anything. It's very underwhelming.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Well, that's because that is the original. Well, I think
- 15:36Speaker 2: that's more of a blend of the original Power K.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It wasn't a really big one. So this is like
- 15:41Speaker 2: an earlier version of the Power K. And I mean,
- 15:44Speaker 2: they've gone full blown power K all over the place.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I mean, it's, it's a credit to them for doing this. Now,
- 15:51Speaker 2: if UK loses by a ton this weekend, do you say, okay,
- 15:54Speaker 2: we need to do away with power K. Do you
- 15:57Speaker 2: blame the power K and its lack of power? Or
- 16:00Speaker 2: if they win, do you give credit to the power K?
- 16:03Speaker 1: No, it has nothing to do with the power.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Oh, of course it does.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Nothing to do with it. But now are they sold
- 16:10Speaker 1: next week or next home game? Whenever that is. they
- 16:13Speaker 1: don't they're gonna just go back to the regular logo
- 16:16Speaker 1: at midfield.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Or they i don't know i haven't heard i don't
- 16:19Speaker 2: know because the following weekend uk plays uh oklahoma and
- 16:24Speaker 2: norman and then i don't remember is the next game
- 16:27Speaker 2: tennessee or is it yeah so you got two away
- 16:31Speaker 2: games uh the next couple of weeks so and two
- 16:34Speaker 2: tough away games at that but uh uh anyway uh
- 16:37Speaker 2: but yeah i i listen I think it's going to
- 16:40Speaker 2: be a lot of fun. The only part I'm concerned
- 16:43Speaker 2: about is just the injuries that we continue to hear about. And, man,
- 16:49Speaker 2: the injury report came out yesterday, and it just was
- 16:52Speaker 2: not pretty. I mean, I know Will Stein was talking
- 16:55Speaker 2: about how the linebacker room is really bare, and it is.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I mean, you've got four players from linebacker room. that
- 17:09Speaker 2: are completely out between Antoine Smith, Alex Safari. Uh, well
- 17:14Speaker 2: he's out for the season. I think it'd be because yeah,
- 17:18Speaker 2: that sucks. Uh, Jaden Smith and Tavian Wallace. Then you
- 17:23Speaker 2: got defensive back grant Grayton and offensive lineman, uh, Ava sound. So, uh,
- 17:29Speaker 2: they are the only three that are questionable are running back.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Jordan Colbert, Cole, uh, Cole, uh, Marzellick and, uh, the
- 17:38Speaker 2: defensive lineman, Kalen Edwards. Now I think the, the nice
- 17:42Speaker 2: part is that we do have a couple of players
- 17:47Speaker 2: that are back. So that's the part I'm, I'm, I'm
- 17:52Speaker 2: kind of thankful for. And that's DJ Miller, the wide
- 17:55Speaker 2: receiver and Jason Patterson, the running back. So that helps
- 17:59Speaker 2: as far as that goes. But I mean, that kind
- 18:02Speaker 2: of gives you an indication with the linebacker room being
- 18:05Speaker 2: so thin, why South Carolina was, able to run at
- 18:09Speaker 2: will last week.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Well, and LSU's going to be able to do the
- 18:12Speaker 1: same thing.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Maybe even more effectively than South Carolina was able to.
- 18:16Speaker 1: So all that being said, it does feel like one
- 18:19Speaker 1: of those games where you're just going to have to
- 18:22Speaker 1: go outscore them. And I think this offense has shown
- 18:25Speaker 1: the ability to be able to do that.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely they can. And this is a team that
- 18:33Speaker 2: has proven to you they don't panic if they get down.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I mean, they were down, as we all know, by
- 18:38Speaker 2: 17 points last weekend. And lo and behold, the comeback.
- 18:43Speaker 2: And I don't know if you've seen it or not.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I'm going to squirrel on you. Have you seen the
- 18:46Speaker 2: uncut version from last weekend's game?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I didn't watch it yet, no.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I know they're long. And I know, but man,
- 18:54Speaker 2: UK does an unbelievable job. You've got to go watch
- 18:57Speaker 2: this uncut version.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I did watch the one from last week, but I
- 18:59Speaker 1: haven't seen this week's yet. Really?
- 19:01Speaker 2: Okay, yeah. Yeah, it was really good. So but anyway,
- 19:06Speaker 2: shout out to those guys. But I just I want
- 19:09Speaker 2: to take a break. I want to talk more about
- 19:12Speaker 2: this UK football game. If you want to join us,
- 19:15Speaker 2: 502-384-1450 and call in. If you want to text me
- 19:18Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief text line, you can do that
- 19:21Speaker 2: at 502-414-1450. You can tweet me at just the cat radio.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 2: LSU has a number of players out, but I mean,
- 19:29Speaker 2: they've got six completely out. None are questionable. But, you know,
- 19:33Speaker 2: we've got six that are out. And it just, man,
- 19:36Speaker 2: that just, that hurts. But anyway, we're going to take
- 19:39Speaker 2: a break. Stay right there. More of Just the Cats
- 19:41Speaker 2: coming right up. oh 502-384-1450. You want to call in? 502-414-1450.
- 20:19Speaker 2: You want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text
- 20:23Speaker 2: line or you can tweet me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I stand corrected, Justin. Goose21T' s tweeted me at Just the
- 20:31Speaker 2: Cat Radio saying, you're right. It should just be the
- 20:37Speaker 2: K at midfield like it used to be. And then
- 20:39Speaker 2: he sends a picture of the Power K. I can't tell.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I think it's Commonwealth. Yeah, it is Commonwealth Stadium. And
- 20:47Speaker 2: it doesn't show the circle.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It looks way better.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Looks way better.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Well, there you go. There's your Power
- 20:57Speaker 2: K of the day. So, I like that even more.
- 21:02Speaker 2: By the way, last night at the Rays-Yankees game at
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yankee Stadium, They introduced the one and only Julius Randall.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so he was there. I didn't realize he had
- 21:15Speaker 2: been traded because, you know, he played for the Knicks.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Then he was amongst that trade with Carl Anthony Towns
- 21:21Speaker 2: between them and Minnesota, wasn't it?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Correct.
- 21:23Speaker 2: The Timberwolves. Now he's playing for the Nets.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Correct.
- 21:27Speaker 2: So I didn't realize that.
- 21:29Speaker 1: And he's never going to win anything ever again.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the really sad part about it. I know.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think he likes living in New York, but I
- 21:37Speaker 2: don't know if he's going to enjoy playing for the Nets,
- 21:40Speaker 2: which is a really sad part about it. But one
- 21:43Speaker 2: person texted in, so how does one leave Yankee Stadium?
- 21:47Speaker 2: By the subway or Uber, Wrigley Field is always fun
- 21:49Speaker 2: riding the L back. I took the subway. And here's
- 21:55Speaker 2: why Mason told me we should take the subway instead
- 21:58Speaker 2: of getting a car. He said it would take far longer.
- 22:01Speaker 2: to uh get out of the traffic there oh.
- 22:03Speaker 1: And it was probably way more expensive to take an
- 22:05Speaker 1: uber too probably i'd imagine right i don't know.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Oh yeah oh yeah all right you know how much
- 22:10Speaker 2: it cost us to go up and back uh on
- 22:14Speaker 2: a subway and i'm talking a 30 minute 20 25
- 22:18Speaker 2: minute ride up and a 20 25 minute ride back
- 22:21Speaker 2: to his apartment.
- 22:22Speaker 1: I would guess between the both of you five dollars
- 22:26Speaker 1: oh no it's.
- 22:26Speaker 2: 12 okay It's $ 3 up, $ 3 back. So, yeah. I mean,
- 22:33Speaker 2: and I thought, okay, that's a good way to go.
- 22:35Speaker 2: That's very reasonable. Yeah, plus it's so much quicker. But, no,
- 22:40Speaker 2: I like it that way, so we kept it that way.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Scoots was just, that was just good morning in Russian.
- 22:47Speaker 2: But then you already knew that, comrade.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he sent a questionable phrase at the end of
- 22:56Speaker 1: one of his texts this morning. And I was like, Jamie,
- 22:59Speaker 1: I'm hoping you just didn't make me say a bad
- 23:01Speaker 1: word in another language. Because I read it.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Oh, you did? I did. Now you can't get in
- 23:07Speaker 2: trouble for saying a bad word in a different language,
- 23:09Speaker 2: can you?
- 23:10Speaker 1: I would imagine not, but I'm not here to offend people.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. John here. Happy birthday, Michael. I hope your
- 23:18Speaker 2: Rays can get it done and you can finally celebrate
- 23:21Speaker 2: a World Series victory. The Rays were the better team.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I hope my Yankees make adjustments. Don Maddenly as the skipper.
- 23:28Speaker 2: It would be a dream come true. Well, it was fine. So,
- 23:34Speaker 2: and thank you for the birthday wishes. I appreciate that.
- 23:36Speaker 2: But yeah, I hope they do. I mean, I've experienced,
- 23:41Speaker 2: I mean, my Bengals haven't won a Super Bowl, but
- 23:43Speaker 2: I've won one with the Bucks. Stanley Cup with the Lightning.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That's the only hockey team I like. And then Of course,
- 23:54Speaker 2: we've all experienced the UK championships. Let me think. I've
- 23:58Speaker 2: experienced a championship in 78, which I remember, 96, 98,
- 24:06Speaker 2: and 2012. So of the eight that UK's won, I've
- 24:10Speaker 2: experienced half of them that I remember. Yeah. So I
- 24:15Speaker 2: think that's fine. Yeah. I haven't. Yeah, never mind. Anyway.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Let me, let me. ask you this before we move
- 24:24Speaker 1: on do you give the rays a fighting chance if
- 24:27Speaker 1: they're able to get to the world series.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Do i give them a fighting chance absolutely.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Against the brewers or the dodgers.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yes i give them a chance you you you didn't
- 24:37Speaker 2: say do i think they'll win i give them a
- 24:40Speaker 2: chance absolutely that's the one thing i was talking to
- 24:43Speaker 2: my son uh this morning i said uh This team,
- 24:46Speaker 2: and this is the difference with certain teams, when it
- 24:49Speaker 2: seems like they all get along really well, and this
- 24:52Speaker 2: is what Cal was so good at, that he can
- 24:55Speaker 2: get a team to really gel together. And I feel
- 24:59Speaker 2: like that's the Rays right now. They're just having so
- 25:02Speaker 2: much fun. And when you have a team that's having fun,
- 25:05Speaker 2: the sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned. And
- 25:07Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I think the best in the business
- 25:10Speaker 2: was always John Calipari. He could figure out how to
- 25:14Speaker 2: get all kinds of personalities, all kinds of talent levels
- 25:18Speaker 2: to come together and become a team, not just a
- 25:21Speaker 2: singular player. Now, the last few years of his time
- 25:25Speaker 2: at UK, for some reason, it wasn't able to happen. But, man,
- 25:29Speaker 2: I don't think there was anybody better than John Calipari
- 25:32Speaker 2: at that job.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I mean, I can't necessarily disagree with you, but you're
- 25:37Speaker 1: right about the Rays for sure. They're just out there
- 25:40Speaker 1: having fun. It's a bunch of guys you've never heard of,
- 25:42Speaker 1: but they work well as a unit.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And see, that's the best part. You never heard of
- 25:46Speaker 2: these players. And the fact that they're out there doing
- 25:49Speaker 2: this is just amazing. By the way, all kidding aside,
- 25:53Speaker 2: because I know how we feel about Eli Drinkwitz, but
- 25:56Speaker 2: this news about his freshman offensive lineman, DJ Jones, that
- 26:01Speaker 2: is requiring a heart transplant. Have you seen that story?
- 26:05Speaker 2: I haven't. Oh, and to see Eli Drinkwitz talk about it,
- 26:10Speaker 2: It's just you talk about heart wrenching. That's that's it.
- 26:14Speaker 2: And I'm not going to make fun of Eli Drinkwince
- 26:18Speaker 2: about this whatsoever, nor Missouri or anything like that. But
- 26:22Speaker 2: credit to him for being able to get in front
- 26:23Speaker 2: of the media to talk about it. And of course,
- 26:26Speaker 2: you know, we send our thoughts and prayers over to Missouri.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And this player, DJ Jones, that now has to have
- 26:32Speaker 2: a heart transplant. So he's on the list to get one.
- 26:36Speaker 2: And hopefully he's able to do that, but that's just a,
- 26:38Speaker 2: or 18 years old. Yeah. And for him to have
- 26:41Speaker 2: to be going through this and clearly he can't play football.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I doubt if he could ever play football again. Do
- 26:46Speaker 2: you think?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Probably not. I mean, I have a cousin who had
- 26:50Speaker 1: to have a heart transplant when she was five and
- 26:53Speaker 1: she can't, she's never been able to play any sports.
- 26:56Speaker 1: She got into golf briefly because it was the one
- 26:59Speaker 1: sport that she could play that didn't like make her
- 27:01Speaker 1: heart go crazy. But yeah, I mean, five years old,
- 27:03Speaker 1: she had to get a heart transplant and she's, I mean,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I don't want to say she hasn't been the same
- 27:09Speaker 1: since because she was still developing a personality at that point. But, yeah,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I know that's been really tough for her. I just,
- 27:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I can't imagine anybody that's 18, 19
- 27:18Speaker 1: years old or younger, they shouldn't have to deal with
- 27:20Speaker 1: stuff like that.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Oh, can I ask you a question? So
- 27:24Speaker 2: there was a video that went out a couple of
- 27:27Speaker 2: nights ago. I think it was between the Braves and
- 27:31Speaker 2: the Dodgers. Is that who? They were playing the Braves
- 27:34Speaker 2: and Dodgers, wasn't it, in the playoffs? Yep. There was
- 27:36Speaker 2: a video that went out of a guy, and it's really,
- 27:40Speaker 2: he looked like he was maybe 18, 19 years old,
- 27:43Speaker 2: catches a foul ball. And people were criticizing him. Then
- 27:48Speaker 2: there were a number of people said, no, he gets
- 27:50Speaker 2: to keep it. They were saying that he should have
- 27:52Speaker 2: given the ball up to a little kid that was
- 27:54Speaker 2: sitting behind him. What do you think? Is there an
- 27:59Speaker 2: unwritten rule if an adult, but I don't think this
- 28:02Speaker 2: was an adult. Well, I shouldn't. He was probably 18, 19,
- 28:05Speaker 2: 20 years old. He kept the ball and didn't give it.
- 28:09Speaker 2: So people were criticizing, people were supporting him. Where do
- 28:13Speaker 2: you stand with this?
- 28:15Speaker 1: It differs with age, I think, for me. Because if
- 28:18Speaker 1: I'm 18, I'm probably keeping that ball too.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:22Speaker 1: If I'm 36 like I am now, I know that
- 28:26Speaker 1: that baseball would mean way more to a kid than
- 28:29Speaker 1: it does me at this point in my life. So I'm,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I'm giving it up to the kid for sure.
- 28:34Speaker 2: What if you're 36 and you have a kid at home?
- 28:40Speaker 1: That muddies it a little bit, but I.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Think it muddies it a lot.
- 28:45Speaker 1: No, I mean, I still think I would give it
- 28:46Speaker 1: to the kid in the park because I'm, I'm creating,
- 28:49Speaker 1: I'm creating a memory for them. Whereas if I just
- 28:52Speaker 1: take it home and I give it to one of
- 28:54Speaker 1: my kids, they're like, Oh, thanks dad for the baseball.
- 28:57Speaker 1: And they're, they're not going to have an understanding of,
- 28:59Speaker 1: what I had to go through to get that or
- 29:01Speaker 1: the pain I had to feel in my hand to
- 29:03Speaker 1: catch that thing. They're not going to be appreciative of that.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So I would still give it to the kid in
- 29:07Speaker 1: the studio.
- 29:08Speaker 2: I kind of go both ways. I understand what you're saying.
- 29:12Speaker 2: If it's just some random game where it's just middle
- 29:15Speaker 2: of the season, I'm probably giving them up. But if
- 29:18Speaker 2: it's a home run that was maybe a game-winning home
- 29:21Speaker 2: run or if it's playoffs World Series, I don't know
- 29:24Speaker 2: if I'm giving that ball away to a kid. I
- 29:27Speaker 2: might be keeping something for myself as a special memento
- 29:31Speaker 2: from that game. See, I think there are differences as well.
- 29:36Speaker 2: And that muddies it up even more. So if it's
- 29:38Speaker 2: a playoff game, I'm... keeping it. If it's a regular
- 29:41Speaker 2: season game, yeah, I'm giving it away. It's a meaningless baseball.
- 29:45Speaker 1: I actually experienced something like this over the summer. It
- 29:48Speaker 1: was a really cool moment. So when I went up
- 29:49Speaker 1: to a Reds game and with my dad and his
- 29:53Speaker 1: twin and his daughter and her daughter. So it was
- 29:56Speaker 1: my second cousin. She's I think six, maybe seven, but she,
- 30:01Speaker 1: so the reds were shooting these little basketballs out after
- 30:04Speaker 1: the game, like the little soft foam ones. Well, the guy,
- 30:07Speaker 1: the guy behind us caught one and she immediately just
- 30:12Speaker 1: broke down and starts crying because she wanted it so
- 30:15Speaker 1: freaking bad. And next thing you know, the guy just
- 30:18Speaker 1: puts it over her shoulder and, and hands it to
- 30:21Speaker 1: her and the joy on her face. So that's kind
- 30:24Speaker 1: of what I go back to in situations like this. Like,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you can really create that memory for that kid. So
- 30:30Speaker 1: I think the right move, no matter the situation is
- 30:33Speaker 1: just give, give it to the kids in the studio.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Well, I just wanted to ask you.
- 30:37Speaker 2: All right. So Lane Kiffin puts out a quote in
- 30:40Speaker 2: the yellow. Yeah. Puts out a quote that Kenny Minchie
- 30:45Speaker 2: never said. I know you talked about it. I didn't
- 30:48Speaker 2: get to hear it, unfortunately, but tell me, repeat yourself.
- 30:52Speaker 2: If you don't mind, tell me, why are we doing
- 30:55Speaker 2: stuff like this? Because I think, and to be called
- 30:58Speaker 2: out makes it far worse for his team to think, well,
- 31:02Speaker 2: why are we posting stuff that's not even true? So
- 31:05Speaker 2: it's at the football office. If you haven't seen the tweet,
- 31:08Speaker 2: if you haven't seen the pictures of it, they're at
- 31:11Speaker 2: the football offices or practice facility at LSU. They put
- 31:15Speaker 2: up a fake quote from Kenny Minchin. What do you
- 31:18Speaker 2: think is talking about the defense and how they haven't
- 31:21Speaker 2: seen our offense? So what do you think about this?
- 31:24Speaker 1: I mean, it's just a wild situation. Like, for all
- 31:28Speaker 1: the reporters to go out, and Peek was talking about
- 31:31Speaker 1: it yesterday, how they cross-check every interview that these players
- 31:34Speaker 1: or coaching staffs do, and the fact that that quote
- 31:37Speaker 1: simply was not true. Now, I don't know if Benchies
- 31:40Speaker 1: came out and said that he never said that, which
- 31:42Speaker 1: I don't really see a need for him to do that.
- 31:44Speaker 2: No.
- 31:44Speaker 1: But it's just, for me, it makes it, like... Why?
- 31:50Speaker 1: I guess would be my main question. Because that screams that,
- 31:54Speaker 1: is Lane Kiffin scared? Why are we going around making
- 31:58Speaker 1: up quotes trying to manufacture bulletin board material? It just
- 32:02Speaker 1: doesn't make sense. You're the better team going into this game,
- 32:05Speaker 1: but it appears from the outside that maybe he's got
- 32:08Speaker 1: some trepidation going up against this Cats team.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and I agree with you. Well, it makes me believe,
- 32:15Speaker 2: it makes you believe that he's nervous about this game.
- 32:19Speaker 2: And he knows the importance of what every game means.
- 32:22Speaker 2: And now he's coming in here and he's seeing the
- 32:24Speaker 2: success that Will Stein is having all of a sudden
- 32:27Speaker 2: in this young season and a young season. You realize
- 32:31Speaker 2: we're almost halfway through the season. And, but, but you think, okay,
- 32:36Speaker 2: why would you fabricate something like that to show to
- 32:40Speaker 2: your team? How, how, how in what mind are you
- 32:43Speaker 2: thinking this is going to help your team? And then
- 32:46Speaker 2: to me, What's far worse to only find out it's
- 32:49Speaker 2: not true. What does your team think of you now?
- 32:52Speaker 2: I mean, do you think he did this or do
- 32:55Speaker 2: you think somebody at the football facility decided to come
- 32:58Speaker 2: up with this fake quote?
- 33:00Speaker 1: I'm sure there were multiple people in cahoots with one another.
- 33:03Speaker 1: I mean, I don't want to put the blame directly
- 33:06Speaker 1: on somebody else or somebody in particular, but yeah, I'm
- 33:09Speaker 1: sure there was, it was like a team effort, but
- 33:11Speaker 1: it doesn't make sense. Like if you've truly wanted bulletin
- 33:14Speaker 1: board material or a quote from a player, then I'm
- 33:17Speaker 1: sure there's something out there that you could have been
- 33:19Speaker 1: able to use. You didn't have to go make something up.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It's just, it's loser behavior.
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's what I think. And I don't understand it. And
- 33:28Speaker 2: if LSU ends up losing this game, that's going to
- 33:31Speaker 2: be something that's going to be remembered for a long time.
- 33:35Speaker 2: And people are, it won't be just Kentucky fans. It'll
- 33:38Speaker 2: be fans all over the place. Tennessee fans, I guarantee you,
- 33:40Speaker 2: will say something about it. Ole Miss fans will say
- 33:43Speaker 2: something about it. I mean, it will be something that
- 33:46Speaker 2: stays around for a long time. And it's like, okay,
- 33:49Speaker 2: now we know what a liar Kiffin is. And it's
- 33:52Speaker 2: just like, okay, I looked at that and I'm like, okay,
- 33:55Speaker 2: Justin is getting right into me, into my head as
- 33:59Speaker 2: far as how to feel about Lane Kiffin. And I'm
- 34:01Speaker 2: kind of getting that way now. And I've always liked
- 34:03Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin. I never had a problem with him. I
- 34:06Speaker 2: don't like the how he treated Tennessee, but it didn't
- 34:08Speaker 2: affect me. I don't even mind what he did to
- 34:12Speaker 2: Ole Miss. I'm sure... I know how upset that fan
- 34:15Speaker 2: base is, but it's like you could have done it
- 34:18Speaker 2: a different way, but he did it that way, which
- 34:21Speaker 2: I can see where people would have a problem with it.
- 34:24Speaker 2: But again, he didn't affect me. So but now doing
- 34:28Speaker 2: something like this to a player that didn't come close
- 34:31Speaker 2: to saying anything like this, it's just you said it's
- 34:34Speaker 2: loser mentality. Why would you do something like that? And
- 34:38Speaker 2: I've thought about the last 24 hours since it came out.
- 34:40Speaker 2: I honestly can't figure out because, you know, people are
- 34:43Speaker 2: you're always fact checking me, which I'm OK with. But
- 34:47Speaker 2: but to do something like that where people are going
- 34:50Speaker 2: to fact check this is and you still have the
- 34:55Speaker 2: gall to put it up. It's like, wow, that takes
- 34:57Speaker 2: some real guts to do something like that. And then
- 34:59Speaker 2: he's found out.
- 35:00Speaker 1: You bring up a good point, though, about the players.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I do wonder. what the mindset of the LSU players
- 35:07Speaker 1: was when they found out that that was not even
- 35:09Speaker 1: a real quote. Heck, maybe they don't even know. Maybe
- 35:12Speaker 1: it hasn't even trickled down to them. Oh, they know.
- 35:16Speaker 1: I would think so, too.
- 35:17Speaker 2: I would think that they know.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I do wonder what their mind– like, were they just
- 35:21Speaker 1: in their house last night just chopping this dude up
- 35:23Speaker 1: because he's such an idiot and making up quotes? I'd
- 35:26Speaker 1: be curious.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I just– I don't know. If you're in the LSU
- 35:32Speaker 2: fan base, they are so– mesmerized and under a spell
- 35:36Speaker 2: is what I think with Lane Kiffin. They just, he
- 35:39Speaker 2: could do no wrong. So they're just like rolling their eyes. Oh,
- 35:42Speaker 2: who cares? I think it's funny. No big deal. But
- 35:45Speaker 2: if you're a player, you're kind of looking at this
- 35:47Speaker 2: and thinking, okay, that's really kind of weird. Yeah. That's
- 35:51Speaker 2: what I think. I think it's just kind of odd
- 35:53Speaker 2: to do something like that. All right. We got to
- 35:55Speaker 2: take another break. When we come back, I do want
- 35:57Speaker 2: to talk about some more. Let's talk about the game
- 36:00Speaker 2: and what do we think? UK has to do to
- 36:04Speaker 2: win this game and how we hope this will turn out,
- 36:07Speaker 2: which we all know how it's going to turn out,
- 36:09Speaker 2: we hope. But we'll talk about that as well. Plus,
- 36:12Speaker 2: I'll get back to your texts as well. 502-414-1450. Stay
- 36:14Speaker 2: right there. More Adjusted Cats.
- 36:31Speaker 1: All right, so yesterday there were a few people tweeting
- 36:40Speaker 1: out that....
- 36:59Speaker 2: Uh, college game day was going to switch from Tuscaloosa
- 37:04Speaker 2: covering the Georgia Alabama game, uh, coming up to Lexington
- 37:08Speaker 2: due to a hurricane. That's not true. So I hate,
- 37:12Speaker 2: I hate to be the bear of bad news. That's
- 37:14Speaker 2: not true.
- 37:15Speaker 1: By the way, speaking of this whole Lane Kiffin thing
- 37:18Speaker 1: that we were just discussing, did you see Will Stein's
- 37:20Speaker 1: comments on the coach's show last night?
- 37:23Speaker 2: I did go ahead.
- 37:24Speaker 1: It was, I mean, this is just a tremendous quote.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So he's asked about them using that fake quote, and
- 37:30Speaker 1: he says, coaches have been doing crazy stuff for a
- 37:33Speaker 1: long time in terms of getting their team ready to roll.
- 37:36Speaker 1: My guys are ready to roll because of the brotherhood
- 37:38Speaker 1: they have and the opportunity to play in front of
- 37:41Speaker 1: our fans. Yet another win for Will Stein.
- 37:45Speaker 2: That's what's getting ready to say. It's what a great
- 37:47Speaker 2: way to handle a question like that. And I appreciate
- 37:50Speaker 2: the fact that Tom Leach asked that question and brought
- 37:54Speaker 2: up all of that. So credit to Tom for doing
- 37:56Speaker 2: that and credit to Will Stein for answering really in
- 37:59Speaker 2: a nice way. I mean, that's not a way that's
- 38:01Speaker 2: a knock at Kiffin, even though it, it, it's not
- 38:06Speaker 2: a knock. It's just an honest way in a reality
- 38:09Speaker 2: way to answer what, a situation that was created by
- 38:13Speaker 2: a team he's getting ready to play this weekend. So
- 38:15Speaker 2: he gave them absolutely zero locker material, yet Lane Kiffin
- 38:21Speaker 2: gave UK all kinds of locker material. I just hope
- 38:25Speaker 2: it backfires. That's the only thing. I hope to goodness
- 38:29Speaker 2: this completely backfires for LSU.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Can I just say this?
- 38:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I don't know that there has ever been a time
- 38:37Speaker 1: in my life Where I am cheering for Kentucky football
- 38:41Speaker 1: more than I am this Saturday.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Are you really?
- 38:44Speaker 1: I am the biggest Big Blue Nation member there is
- 38:47Speaker 1: this Saturday.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I appreciate that. So, 502-414-1450. Jamie texted out, why are
- 38:54Speaker 2: you going to the game without your kid to begin with?
- 38:57Speaker 1: True.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Be, what does that say? Be lit. Thanks for the ball. Dad,
- 39:03Speaker 2: a ticket would have been nicer.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 39:11Speaker 2: Well, part of it is maybe he didn't get the
- 39:14Speaker 2: ticket and he was invited by somebody else.
- 39:17Speaker 1: True.
- 39:17Speaker 2: Are you supposed to say, no, I'm not going unless
- 39:20Speaker 2: you get a ticket for my kid, which is kind
- 39:21Speaker 2: of obnoxious. So I, I, maybe he was invited by,
- 39:25Speaker 2: I don't, maybe he doesn't have any kids. Well, yeah. Anyway,
- 39:30Speaker 2: I'm nothing. I'm going to move on from that. I just,
- 39:33Speaker 2: I just, uh, okay. Uh, one person. Wow. This guy
- 39:37Speaker 2: has not texted since April. So Rutherford show Louisville coming
- 39:42Speaker 2: with a new offer to Cal, uh, to Cal wide receiver. Uh,
- 39:47Speaker 2: they are going to visit tomorrow. Hmm. Okay. But is
- 39:53Speaker 2: it going to help? So that's the Christian Academy wide receiver.
- 39:59Speaker 2: First of all, why are you coming with a new offer?
- 40:01Speaker 2: You've already offered something. They're worried about that player.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Apparently they've already re-upped once, so this will be a
- 40:09Speaker 1: second re-up. Wow, really?
- 40:11Speaker 2: That's what I've heard. Okay. So I'm telling you, then
- 40:18Speaker 2: if they're having to re-up for the third time, they
- 40:21Speaker 2: don't really have him because he's considering all kinds of stuff.
- 40:25Speaker 2: He's going to the, the indicator to me, he's going
- 40:29Speaker 2: to the highest bidder and he's hoping it's either UK
- 40:32Speaker 2: or U of L, I guarantee you. And you know,
- 40:34Speaker 2: Texas is in the mix as well as Oklahoma. Man,
- 40:38Speaker 2: that's big money as far as I'm concerned. Now, is
- 40:40Speaker 2: he worth that kind of big money to them? I
- 40:42Speaker 2: don't know, but I think he is as far as
- 40:44Speaker 2: recruiting for inside this state. You're shaking your head. Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 1: He, that kid is freaking awesome. Yeah.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Really?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Wherever he wants to go. I think he's worth the money.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Now what about, have you heard any rumblings about Seneca driver?
- 41:01Speaker 2: I haven't.
- 41:02Speaker 1: So the Boyle County tight end, he's Matt. Everybody after the,
- 41:06Speaker 1: the game on Saturday was, or was tweeting him like, Hey,
- 41:09Speaker 1: you might want to, might want to reevaluate. Cause he's
- 41:12Speaker 1: going to Oklahoma, which is, It doesn't really make sense.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I mean, if you're from Boyle County, Kentucky, I think
- 41:17Speaker 1: Lexington would probably be the spot for you, especially seeing
- 41:20Speaker 1: how they use their tight end. So I'm curious if
- 41:23Speaker 1: anything ends up happening with him or not.
- 41:26Speaker 2: I don't know. And the guy that would definitely know
- 41:29Speaker 2: would be Larry Vaught because he's all Mr. Boyle County.
- 41:32Speaker 2: But I don't know. And to me, again, that's another
- 41:37Speaker 2: indicator that he's going there because they offered him the
- 41:40Speaker 2: most money. So and hopefully UK can just I don't know.
- 41:44Speaker 2: You got to get to a point where here's the
- 41:47Speaker 2: money we can offer. We can't go any further than this.
- 41:50Speaker 2: And if we lose you, we lose you. So I
- 41:52Speaker 2: don't know. It's just recruiting today's crazy. So but but
- 41:58Speaker 2: I'm telling you, if Mike Rutherford is reporting that UofL
- 42:02Speaker 2: is going to offer him another offer and you said
- 42:04Speaker 2: the third one, that that's a huge indication he's not
- 42:09Speaker 2: really committed to UofL. You can say whatever you want
- 42:12Speaker 2: about that, but I'm just telling you. 48 Hanley texted in,
- 42:17Speaker 2: we all agree giving a baseball to a random kid
- 42:20Speaker 2: is a nice gesture, but keep it in mind the
- 42:23Speaker 2: person catching the ball might have a very worthy intention
- 42:27Speaker 2: for the ball themselves. See, I agree with that. Maybe
- 42:30Speaker 2: for an aging parent or one of his own children,
- 42:33Speaker 2: a children's birthday or maybe a cancer patient. I listen,
- 42:37Speaker 2: you never know. I, I think that's a great text
- 42:40Speaker 2: right there. I, I mean, let's be honest.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Who's taking a baseball from a stadium and saying, Hey mom,
- 42:46Speaker 1: I know you're 89 years old and you may not
- 42:49Speaker 1: have long left on this earth, but here's this random baseball.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Are you kidding me?
- 42:56Speaker 1: Your parents wouldn't appreciate that nearly as much as the
- 42:59Speaker 1: kid in stadium.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Cancer sucks. Here's a random baseball.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Good grief. Now, the cancer kid, I'm sure, would appreciate it.
- 43:06Speaker 1: But even taking that ball and wrapping it up for
- 43:09Speaker 1: one of your kids' birthdays, they're going to be like,
- 43:10Speaker 1: what the hell, Dad? You got me one baseball? You
- 43:13Speaker 1: couldn't even afford a 12-pack?
- 43:16Speaker 2: This one's used, Dad. I want a brand-new baseball. What
- 43:19Speaker 2: the heck, man? You just found this in the gutter?
- 43:21Speaker 2: Where'd this come from? I mean, come on.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Now, if it was like a– the only way I
- 43:28Speaker 1: see this situation differently– As if it's like maybe a
- 43:33Speaker 1: ball from a World Series game.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Or a playoff. I think playoff is still worth
- 43:38Speaker 2: something as well. And clearly you don't. But I think
- 43:41Speaker 2: a playoff game, if I could have caught a baseball
- 43:44Speaker 2: last night, I can tell you I'd probably kept it.
- 43:47Speaker 1: You would have.
- 43:48Speaker 2: I probably would have.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Sorry. What if Mason asked you for it? I'm giving
- 43:53Speaker 1: it to Mason. That's my sign.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Of course I'm giving it to him.
- 43:58Speaker 1: But random little girl in front of you turns around
- 44:01Speaker 1: and says, I want that. You're not handing it off.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Turn around, kid. Go buy some popcorn. Is that horrible?
- 44:08Speaker 1: No.
- 44:09Speaker 2: If it's a random middle of the season game, I'm
- 44:11Speaker 2: giving it to the little girl in front of me.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I'm keeping it because it's a playoff game and my
- 44:16Speaker 2: Rays are about to sweep the Yankees. That's something significant.
- 44:19Speaker 1: What are you going to end up doing with that?
- 44:20Speaker 1: But you're going to put it on a shelf and
- 44:22Speaker 1: never look at it again.
- 44:23Speaker 2: That's not true. I got baseball. I have baseballs I've caught.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Even at Redbirds, I still have. When it was the Redbirds.
- 44:33Speaker 1: I mean, do you mark them all? Do you have
- 44:35Speaker 1: like the score written on all of them and the
- 44:37Speaker 1: result of the game and all that?
- 44:38Speaker 2: I could have done that, but no, I haven't. But yeah,
- 44:42Speaker 2: that would have been the thing to do. Keep that ball.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Mark on there what the final score was, the date
- 44:47Speaker 2: of the game and who it was against. That would
- 44:49Speaker 2: be fun. I bet there are a number of people
- 44:52Speaker 2: out there. But does that devalue the baseball? How do
- 44:56Speaker 2: you know if you get on a sports memorabilia site
- 45:01Speaker 2: and say, oh, that's a baseball I'd love to have.
- 45:04Speaker 2: How do they guarantee that that ball was from that
- 45:07Speaker 2: game being hit by that player?
- 45:09Speaker 1: A lot of those are like verified.
- 45:12Speaker 2: I understand they're verified. But how do they verify them, though?
- 45:16Speaker 1: That I don't know.
- 45:17Speaker 2: See, that's the part I'm really concerned about. I'd like
- 45:20Speaker 2: to know something like that. I don't. I don't know.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I've never been into sports memorabilia that much. I know
- 45:26Speaker 2: people are really into the baseball cards and all that stuff.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I've never really been into that, but it is fascinating
- 45:33Speaker 2: to see all the stuff that you could buy out there.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Like for instance, I love it. When you could go
- 45:39Speaker 2: to one of the baseball parks, you can go to
- 45:41Speaker 2: the Tampa Bay rays and buy a game used items,
- 45:45Speaker 2: baseball bats, helmets. I bought my, one son a baseball
- 45:49Speaker 2: helmet and another son a baseball bat from their favorite
- 45:52Speaker 2: players from the past. And I thought that was– I'd
- 45:55Speaker 2: love to have a baseball– are you kidding? I would
- 45:57Speaker 2: love to have a baseball helmet that was used by
- 45:59Speaker 2: a Rays player last night. I don't even care which
- 46:01Speaker 2: one it was. I think that's kind of cool. Yeah.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Baseball helmets are kind of cool. What did you say?
- 46:07Speaker 1: I said bench coach.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Get his helmet.
- 46:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. It would probably be a lot less money,
- 46:14Speaker 2: I'll tell you that. It was funny, though, when they're
- 46:18Speaker 2: doing the introduction, they had the support staff and I
- 46:21Speaker 2: start standing up clapping really loud for the support staff.
- 46:24Speaker 2: It's like my son's like, please sit down. You look great.
- 46:27Speaker 2: But it's just like, come on, do we really need
- 46:29Speaker 2: to have the support? It was an introduction that took
- 46:32Speaker 2: at least a half an hour because they went through
- 46:36Speaker 2: everybody that's on that team. It's like, oh, my gosh,
- 46:38Speaker 2: nobody knows who these people are. Just go through the
- 46:41Speaker 2: starting lineup. Let's move on. But I will say seventh
- 46:45Speaker 2: inning was pretty cool because they sang God Bless America.
- 46:48Speaker 2: And I thought, here we are in New York City,
- 46:50Speaker 2: and they're doing that. All right, we've got to take
- 46:52Speaker 2: a break. Hour two coming up. We're going to talk
- 46:54Speaker 2: more about U.K. football, and we've got some U.K. basketball
- 46:58Speaker 2: news as well as far as the women. They have
- 47:00Speaker 2: a record coming up. We'll talk about that. See you
- 47:02Speaker 2: in a minute. This is just a cast.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Not too particular, not too precise.
- 47:09Speaker 2: I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 47:25Speaker 2: All right, hour number two on this Thursday. If you
- 47:27Speaker 2: want to call in 502-384-1450, you want to text in
- 47:30Speaker 2: on the Whiskey Thief text line, you can do that 502-414-1450,
- 47:33Speaker 2: or you can tweet me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 47:36Speaker 2: So somebody, Dr. Dever, tweeted to us at Just the
- 47:43Speaker 2: Cat Radio saying they had to cover the UK permanent
- 47:47Speaker 2: logo on the football field. That's why they had to
- 47:50Speaker 2: do the big circle.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Gotcha. Okay.
- 47:52Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 47:53Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 47:54Speaker 2: It does. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So as disappointing as it is,
- 47:57Speaker 2: cause you know, the more I look at it, it's
- 47:58Speaker 2: like the more you're right. I don't like the circle.
- 48:02Speaker 2: I wish they could do away with it. And it
- 48:03Speaker 2: was just the power K and that it, but now
- 48:06Speaker 2: that we know it's all due because of the permanent
- 48:10Speaker 2: logo under there, I mean, should they make it the
- 48:13Speaker 2: permanent logo power K just, they can rip it out.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Can't they?
- 48:16Speaker 2: And replace it with a new one.
- 48:18Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's a lot of work. That's probably a
- 48:22Speaker 1: lot of work. I do think it would look better,
- 48:24Speaker 1: and you can tell me if I'm wrong here, but
- 48:26Speaker 1: I do think it would look better if it was inverse. Like,
- 48:29Speaker 1: if the circle was blue and the Power K was white.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Oh, you would like that more.
- 48:35Speaker 1: But the Power K's never been white, so it wouldn't
- 48:38Speaker 1: make sense to do that in this situation, but I
- 48:40Speaker 1: do think it would look better.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, new generation, though. That's right, yeah. You should change things, so.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Or even like a black. I know you don't like
- 48:49Speaker 1: the black, but I think a black circle with the
- 48:52Speaker 1: blue logo just outlined by white, I think that would
- 48:55Speaker 1: look really good.
- 48:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 48:58Speaker 2: All right, then. Well, I know they won't consider it,
- 49:00Speaker 2: but it's a suggestion. I'll put it in the box. Yeah, exactly,
- 49:05Speaker 2: which nobody will ever read. I don't know if you
- 49:08Speaker 2: saw this or not, but the NCAA Basketball Oversight Committee
- 49:11Speaker 2: introduced a proposal That would allow teams to play up
- 49:15Speaker 2: to three games either domestically or internationally during the year.
- 49:20Speaker 2: eight-week summer period. What do you think of this? Do
- 49:23Speaker 2: you think this is– because, you know, Mark Pope has
- 49:26Speaker 2: wanted this ever since he got to Kentucky. Nothing he
- 49:29Speaker 2: wanted before then when he was still at BYU. So
- 49:31Speaker 2: that would allow basketball teams to go play three exhibition
- 49:38Speaker 2: games in the summertime. Do you think this is good
- 49:41Speaker 2: or do you think this is bad?
- 49:43Speaker 1: Is that separate from their summer trips that they're now
- 49:46Speaker 1: allowed to take?
- 49:48Speaker 2: You know, I would assume it's the same thing. They
- 49:51Speaker 2: did not clarify if this was different or separate from
- 49:55Speaker 2: the summer trips or not. I would assume it means
- 49:59Speaker 2: only three games no matter if it's a summer trip
- 50:02Speaker 2: or not. But I don't know that for a fact.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Then I don't like it.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Really?
- 50:07Speaker 1: Because, I mean, you would have teams that, Like, for instance, Louisville,
- 50:12Speaker 1: I don't remember what year it was, but they went
- 50:14Speaker 1: overseas one summer and they played like seven, eight games.
- 50:18Speaker 1: So I don't like the fact that you're limiting them
- 50:21Speaker 1: on games. I mean, if you're in a showcase of
- 50:24Speaker 1: some sort internationally, then you should be able to play
- 50:27Speaker 1: as many games as it requires until the tournament's over.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Well, it says the games would have to be played
- 50:33Speaker 2: 30 days before the first on-court practice date. So it
- 50:38Speaker 2: would have to be just the three games, and that's it.
- 50:41Speaker 2: If approved, this would keep all. It could start next
- 50:47Speaker 2: summer if they approve it. So we'll see if it
- 50:51Speaker 2: happens or not.
- 50:53Speaker 1: I mean, it's better than nothing and better than certainly
- 50:57Speaker 1: having to wait every four years to go on one
- 50:59Speaker 1: of these trips. I mean, I just like that they've
- 51:02Speaker 1: been progressive enough to allow these teams to do this
- 51:06Speaker 1: every summer. as opposed to just every four years.
- 51:08Speaker 2: But is it healthy to play this much of any
- 51:11Speaker 2: particular sport? Doesn't matter if it's basketball or not. Is
- 51:14Speaker 2: it healthy to play a sport all year long and
- 51:18Speaker 2: not give your body any kind of rest? Well, maybe
- 51:20Speaker 2: they give it rest in the springtime, but it sure
- 51:23Speaker 2: seems like more times than not, these athletes are playing
- 51:27Speaker 2: every single day all year long.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but if it's only three games that you're playing
- 51:31Speaker 1: on these trips... you got to think of what that's
- 51:34Speaker 1: doing to your team elsewhere with, with like the bonding
- 51:38Speaker 1: and the, the brotherhood, like Will Stein said, I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 1: just your team's knowing, growing with each other. They're learning
- 51:44Speaker 1: each other more with these trips. I mean, you're obviously
- 51:47Speaker 1: you're going to figure out each other's games on the,
- 51:49Speaker 1: on the floor as the, as the practices ramp up
- 51:52Speaker 1: and all that. But I just, I just think these,
- 51:55Speaker 1: these trips can be very beneficial for cohesion purposes.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Oh, very much so. I agree with you wholeheartedly there, but,
- 52:02Speaker 2: They're beneficial until you have one or two of your
- 52:04Speaker 2: players get injured. Then they're not beneficial.
- 52:06Speaker 1: That only happens to Kentucky.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Well, it seems like it only happens to Kentucky. I'll
- 52:11Speaker 2: tell you that right now. But if it does get approved,
- 52:15Speaker 2: where internationally would you like to see UK go play?
- 52:19Speaker 1: Africa.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Wow, really?
- 52:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:24Speaker 2: I hadn't even thought about that. To me, I would
- 52:27Speaker 2: go to the furthest place away from Lexington. I think
- 52:31Speaker 2: Africa is definitely one of them. I would say Australia, too.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Well, I yeah, Australia would work for me. I think
- 52:38Speaker 1: of this more so as me being selfish. Where do
- 52:41Speaker 1: I want to go? What would I want to do
- 52:43Speaker 1: when the team's not on the court? Like if we
- 52:46Speaker 1: get some off time, I think going to a safari
- 52:48Speaker 1: would be awesome. I think you could do something similar
- 52:51Speaker 1: in Australia, but you're just not going to see lions
- 52:53Speaker 1: and giraffes and elephants. But I think that could also
- 52:56Speaker 1: be a lot of fun.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Wow. So you, you, one of the top places you
- 53:02Speaker 2: would like to go is Africa and go on a safari.
- 53:05Speaker 1: A safari is one of the very top things on
- 53:08Speaker 1: my bucket list.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Is it really? I'm curious. What is it about a
- 53:12Speaker 2: safari that you want to go do?
- 53:15Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. You can, like, you can
- 53:16Speaker 1: see all these animals across the country in zoos, right?
- 53:19Speaker 1: But how many times do you get to see them
- 53:22Speaker 1: in their actual element? Where, like, where these animals actually
- 53:26Speaker 1: came from and how they live there? And plus, with
- 53:28Speaker 1: a safari, you never know what you're going to see.
- 53:30Speaker 1: I mean... You got some safaris, they experience some pretty
- 53:33Speaker 1: crazy stuff, seeing other animals kill each other, fighting or whatnot.
- 53:37Speaker 1: I think that would be awesome. I would love to
- 53:39Speaker 1: do that.
- 53:39Speaker 2: Oh, you want to go see death is what you
- 53:41Speaker 2: want to see.
- 53:42Speaker 1: That's not what I said at all. But if death
- 53:45Speaker 1: happens along the way, then I'm there for it.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. Well, I've just seen the video of
- 53:51Speaker 2: people on safaris and rhinoceros is chasing after them, which
- 53:55Speaker 2: is one of the more dangerous. I didn't know rhinoceros.
- 53:57Speaker 2: We're so dangerous, but clearly they are. They're almost the
- 54:00Speaker 2: king of the jungle, not the lion. They have tigers
- 54:03Speaker 2: chasing after them. It's like, I don't know if I
- 54:05Speaker 2: like this because that would be, let me tell you
- 54:08Speaker 2: right now, that lion's out there looking at me and say,
- 54:10Speaker 2: that's a good meal right there. So I don't know
- 54:13Speaker 2: if I'm interested in that.
- 54:14Speaker 1: Do you know what animal kills more people than any
- 54:17Speaker 1: other animal yearly?
- 54:21Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Technically it's mosquitoes, but we're throwing that out.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Well, that's an insect. That's not an animal. All right.
- 54:28Speaker 2: So an animal that kills. All right. Are you talking
- 54:31Speaker 2: to the United States or are you talking worldwide?
- 54:33Speaker 1: Worldwide. And I'll give you a hint. We don't have
- 54:36Speaker 1: them in the United States.
- 54:38Speaker 2: We don't? I honestly do not know. Hippos. Okay. So
- 54:44Speaker 2: it is a hippopotamus. Wow.
- 54:47Speaker 1: They kill more people than anybody else, any other animal yearly.
- 54:51Speaker 2: Do they really?
- 54:53Speaker 1: Crazy, right?
- 54:53Speaker 2: I assume they're killing him over there in Africa.
- 54:56Speaker 1: I assume. Yeah.
- 54:57Speaker 2: Yeah. another random fact you never knew you'd learn on
- 55:01Speaker 2: just the cat so uh will from south central said
- 55:04Speaker 2: i've gone to many reds games in my life i've
- 55:06Speaker 2: never gotten close to catching a foul ball i'm well
- 55:09Speaker 2: past 50 and if i ever get a chance to
- 55:11Speaker 2: hit a foul ball i will knock i will knock
- 55:16Speaker 2: over a kid to get it and no way i'm
- 55:19Speaker 2: giving it up earn your own ball kid we will uh.
- 55:24Speaker 1: We will see Will from South Central on SportsCenter one
- 55:27Speaker 1: day getting roasted by Scott Van Pelt.
- 55:30Speaker 2: I now have a newfound best friend at a Will
- 55:33Speaker 2: from South Central. I think that's awesome. And, you know, well,
- 55:38Speaker 2: credit to you. I mean, why not? Why does it
- 55:40Speaker 2: always have to be an unwritten rule? You have to
- 55:42Speaker 2: give it to a kid. That dude caught it, hurt
- 55:45Speaker 2: his hand, probably got a black guy because the ball
- 55:47Speaker 2: went right through his hands, hit him in his eye.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Just like the hockey guy. Remember, we're talking about that
- 55:52Speaker 2: last week. The poor hockey guy got hit in the head,
- 55:54Speaker 2: had to go get stitches, all bandaged up. Give the
- 55:57Speaker 2: stinking hockey puck to that guy. That's what should happen
- 56:01Speaker 2: for baseballs.
- 56:02Speaker 1: Look here's the deal you don't have to give it
- 56:04Speaker 1: to a little kid if you want to make the
- 56:05Speaker 1: decision to keep the baseball that's fine that's that's a
- 56:08Speaker 1: you decision but just know in that scenario you're probably
- 56:12Speaker 1: going to get booed into.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Blue i'm changing seats then hopefully it doesn't happen till
- 56:18Speaker 2: the seventh or eighth inning and the game is well
- 56:21Speaker 2: out of hand i'm out of there keeping the ball
- 56:23Speaker 2: see you later sorry little kid i'm going to go
- 56:26Speaker 2: to the uh the concession stand and buy you a
- 56:28Speaker 2: corn dog there. Does that make you happy? Because that
- 56:31Speaker 2: kid is going to forget about that baseball 10 minutes
- 56:34Speaker 2: after the game is over.
- 56:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah. It's true.
- 56:38Speaker 2: And adults going to enjoy it, sit there and enjoy it. Um,
- 56:42Speaker 2: one person's texted in lane. Kiffin still orders happy meals
- 56:45Speaker 2: for his dates. Oh my gosh. I was not expecting
- 56:51Speaker 2: that one right there.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Not a smart business move. You don't get monopoly pieces
- 56:55Speaker 1: on kids meals.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Oh geez. Scoots is only going to give the ball
- 57:00Speaker 2: to a kid if their mom is a three or
- 57:03Speaker 2: higher on the Scoot-O-Meter. That is so true, Jamie. I
- 57:15Speaker 2: guarantee you would look and then the first thing you do, okay,
- 57:18Speaker 2: what's the mom look like? Does she have a wedding
- 57:20Speaker 2: ring on? And then you decide from that point what
- 57:23Speaker 2: you're going to do. Uh, four day handle. He said
- 57:26Speaker 2: a friend of mine's mother was a lifelong Yankee fan
- 57:28Speaker 2: because her father had once had a tryout with him.
- 57:32Speaker 2: So I would ask you scoots. Do you think a
- 57:35Speaker 2: baseball caught at Yankee stadium would have been meaningful to her? Ooh,
- 57:44Speaker 2: come on, man.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, if he worked out for them, then yeah,
- 57:48Speaker 1: I would say so, but that's a very specialized circumstance.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Okay. All right. Then if you say so, it's a
- 57:57Speaker 2: very specialized circumstance. But I think there's all kinds of
- 58:01Speaker 2: circumstances you're not considering, and you just want to give
- 58:03Speaker 2: it to the kid.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Because I have a heart.
- 58:09Speaker 2: A heart.
- 58:10Speaker 1: Wow. Y'all are like the Cowardly Lion with these baseballs.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Did you see where scouts were impressed with the roster?
- 58:19Speaker 2: They said the only team that UK couldn't really compete
- 58:23Speaker 2: with was Florida. Yes, I did. Because we talked about
- 58:27Speaker 2: it a little bit yesterday about how they were two
- 58:30Speaker 2: and three deep. I mean, they had several scouts for
- 58:32Speaker 2: pro day the other day. And I did not see
- 58:37Speaker 2: where they said the only team they couldn't beat was Florida.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I still think, listen, any given night, any team can
- 58:42Speaker 2: beat anybody. Do I think Florida is number one in
- 58:46Speaker 2: the country? Absolutely. And I think Florida is going to
- 58:49Speaker 2: run away with it this year. I don't think anybody's close.
- 58:52Speaker 2: To having the talent level is Todd Goldman, Florida. What
- 58:55Speaker 2: do you think, Justin?
- 58:56Speaker 1: No, I'm right there with you. I mean, they basically
- 58:58Speaker 1: have the exact same team they had last year. And
- 59:01Speaker 1: that was basically the exact same team they had the
- 59:03Speaker 1: year before. You're just adding Denzel Aberdeen, which I guess
- 59:07Speaker 1: that still doesn't make a difference. I don't know. Yeah,
- 59:09Speaker 1: I don't know that it makes that much of a
- 59:11Speaker 1: difference either because they still have all the big guys
- 59:14Speaker 1: down low. They just lost Olivier Ryu, who wouldn't have
- 59:17Speaker 1: played anyway.
- 59:18Speaker 2: How much do you think Denzel will play for Florida
- 59:21Speaker 2: next year?
- 59:21Speaker 1: A lot. If he's eligible, he'll play a lot.
- 59:24Speaker 2: Okay. All right. And of course he'll have another title
- 59:27Speaker 2: on his, um, uh, ring on his hand. So, uh,
- 59:30Speaker 2: credit to him for that, by the way, uh, UK
- 59:32Speaker 2: women's basketball, uh, they released their schedule as you know,
- 59:38Speaker 2: and they're going to play. Are you ready for this?
- 59:40Speaker 2: A record 17 games on national TV this season. That's,
- 59:46Speaker 2: you know, that's something that will help Kenny Brooks in
- 59:50Speaker 2: recruiting in a huge way. Um, And honestly, to me,
- 59:56Speaker 2: that's the Kenny Brooks difference, Justin. And I think definitely
- 59:59Speaker 2: you would agree with something like that.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Absolutely. I mean, this roster, I don't remember where I
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: was listening yesterday, or maybe it was the day before,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: but somebody was talking about this roster and the way
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: it's set up. My gosh. It really is an incredible
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: job putting a roster together. Keeping Clara Strack, obviously, is
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: going to be huge.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: She's going to be a preseason All-American. Heck, she has
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: a chance, I think, to be. player of the year
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: in women's college basketball, which is a crazy thing to say.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: But then you add those, those three freshmen, all Americans,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: I think they're going to provide some really good things
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: for this Kentucky team, all kinds of transfers coming in.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's, it really is just such, such a
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: good roster.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Absolutely. Here's where they're going to be playing. So nine
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: games will be played on ESPN, ESPN two or ESPNU
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: and one game on ABC. which I already know it's
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: going to be the Texas game. And the other seven
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: will be played on the SEC Network, and the remaining
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: games will be broadcast on the SEC Plus app. So
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: if you've got YouTube, you'll be able to watch every
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: one of those games. But I'm telling you, that's a
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: huge deal for Kenny Brooks and the U.K. basketball women's
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: program because when you are now on TV that much,
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: it makes it that much easier to sell your program. Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: No doubt about it. I mean, did you know he's
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: got a 6'5 point guard?
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't know she was a point guard. 6'5. Really?
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: That is the size of, I think Clara Strack's 6'5.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: I mean, that's incredible that she is a, yeah, Asia,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I guess it's pronounced A-J-S-A, Sivka. She's going to be
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: one to watch this season. I think she's going to
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: be awesome. Well, we'll have to talk about.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: We'll have to talk about her next week when Kenny
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: comes on the show with us.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: By the way, is Gabby his daughter? Do you know?
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: No. It's not his daughter? I don't believe. I don't
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: think so.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: No, I don't think that's his daughter. One person texted in,
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: so why do you keep a baseball that came from
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: an MLB game? You can't prove it.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: Unless you have the video to go along with it
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: of you catching it.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Every game's on television. So yeah, you would be on
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: TV catching that ball. I, you would think the MLB
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: would have something that would differentiate their baseballs from everyone else's.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: And you think every team would differentiate it, differentiate it
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: even further, but I guess they don't care. It was,
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: it was impressive though. Every time it seemed like every
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: time a play happened, they would throw the ball out.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: They threw out, I mean, countless numbers of baseballs. And I,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Why are they throwing them out when it just touches
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: the dirt?
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: I've never understood that either.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I do for the life of me. I don't understand
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: why you throw a baseball. It's like the baseball's in
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: perfect shape. Are you kidding me? When my kids are
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: playing high school, little league, that, that ball would be
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: so scuffed up dirty and they would still throw with it.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: And yet in baseball, they just throw them out like
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: it's candy.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: Cause they got a lot of money. They can.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Well, I guess that is the case.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: So, But I know their baseballs are differentiated in terms
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: of they do have the MLB logo on them.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: But the teams don't differ. Like, for football, you have
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: everybody with their own logoed football. I do think it
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: would be cool that if, like, if you were at
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: a Yankees game last night and you caught a foul
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: ball if it had the Yankees logo on it, I
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: think that would be awesome.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Well, I will give the Yankees credit, though.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: It seems like there is– There's not another team out
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: there where the fan base wears their product. I mean, everybody,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: I would say 98% of the fans there had on
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: some kind of Yankee gear. Doesn't matter if it was
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: a hat, a jersey, a shirt, anything. They all were
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: wearing Yankee gear. And credit to them for that. There
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: aren't many other franchises out there that have that kind
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: of support, is there? No.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I mean, they're, they're probably the top of the list.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. So, all right, we got to take a break. Uh,
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: when we come back, we got to talk about Oregon basketball.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: What the heck is going on there? I mean, man, what, what, what,
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: what a flip. I mean, yeah, it, it really, it's,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: I don't know if it's a joke other than I just,
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: it's really kind of sad, but it's kind of like
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: Virginia all over again. So we'll talk about that. And then, uh, uh,
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: we got some other games happening this weekend. I want
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: to talk about, uh, and, uh, And then we have
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: to talk about this lady that broke her own record, too.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: So stay right there. We've got a lot more Just
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the Cats coming right up. All right, so yesterday. My God,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I'm trying to talk and you're singing.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I'm just singing. I love this song so much.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: I don't even know which one it is. You have
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: to tell me.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Brown Eyed Girl. I just told you.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Oh, it is. Okay. Oh, okay. I didn't know you
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: were going to play that.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I don't know if I've ever heard his version.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: Oh, really? Yeah. Well, you know who sang the actual,
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: the original version, right?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I'm about to blow your mind. Van Morrison.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Whoa. Are you okay? How did you know that?
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: I'm a genius.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Well, I'm not going that far. I mean, I can
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: look at the mirror at both of us right now
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: and say, neither of us are geniuses, but, uh, okay.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I'm really proud of you for knowing that was Van Morrison,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: but yeah, I always liked Jimmy Buffett's version of a
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: brown eyed girl.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. Uh, So yesterday, Oregon, I mean, what's going
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: on in Oregon, by the way? And, you know, I'm
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: to a point now, I feel bad for Jasper Johnson.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: You know, he transferred from Kentucky and goes out to Oregon.
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: Oh, he did go to Oregon.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Yes. And now he's without a coach. Is there any
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: chance now, you know, with Dana Altman, the head coach
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: at Oregon State, just outright retiring is what he announced yesterday.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Now you've got 25 days before any of those athletes
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: are 25 days before their first game. And then on
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: top of it all, you have a waiting period of
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: a 31 days before any of the players can put
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: themselves in the transfer portal. Just doing something like this,
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: this close to the season to me, I think the
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: NCAA should look at this and think, no, we need
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: to have a special concession for these athletes that lose
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: their coach right before the season starts. Cause that's not
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: fair to them.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Absolutely not.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: And so I, I look at it and think, okay,
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: granted Jasper Johnson, I'd love to see him back at UK.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Is there any chance you see him transferring back to UK?
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: It just, no way. No, I don't, I don't, I
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: don't think so, but I mean, I feel bad for
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: him as well. And not only just him, but everybody
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: out there, because you think they went to play for.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: Tony Stubblefield? No, they went to play for Dane Altman.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: And now, less than a month before the season, you decide, no,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: I don't really want to do this anymore. You're telling
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: me you couldn't figure this out back in May or
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: June when you had all this downtime? I'll never understand
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: why coaches get into October and then decide, no, this
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: isn't for me. I'm going to hang it up. I
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: hate using this word to describe people, but that is
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: a coward move.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: It's selfish. I really think it's the athletic department getting
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: together with the coach and say, well, don't do it.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: They had to have known something was coming up long
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: before this was going to happen. And to me, it's like,
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: now you've got these athletes that are stuck there and
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: that's not fair to them. So to me, if, if
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: a coach announces this soon towards the start of the season,
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: They should be allowed to put their name in immediately
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: into the transfer portal. No waiting period. Let them get
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: out of this because that happened with Auburn last year.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: And I think a number of those athletes would have
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: just said, I'm out of here. I don't want to
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: play for Bruce Pearl's son. And of course, you see
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: how that turned out last year. And that should have
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: been a really good. team. But this is unfair to
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: the athletes. As much as I'll support the schools, the coaches,
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: this is not fair to the players. So as much
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: as they're getting paid, it doesn't matter anymore. They came
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: to that school to play for Oregon and to play
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: for that coach.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: And for that to happen is an absolute tragedy.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more with you.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Well, I mean, do you think there's anybody else out
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: there that Kentucky could maybe bring in? But again, we
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: talked about it yesterday. We're on our second month of
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: school now. How can they go join another team at
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: this point?
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure. I mean, there is a lot of.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: talent on that on that Oregon roster if they were
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: able to get into the transfer portal I think there
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: would be some some good options there for you but
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: like like you said I mean they got to wait
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: that 31 days bogus as it is I'm with you
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I think they should be able to hop in immediately
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: when when Dana Altman makes that announcement yesterday if anybody
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: wants to leave they should be able to leave now
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: that does put Stubblefield in a really tough position if
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: that's the case because then he's got to turn around
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: and try to replace all the guys that are hopping
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: in the portal. And so it's just like a circle
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: that never ends if you allow them to just get
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: in the portal.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: I understand, but that should be to where the coaches say, well,
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: I don't want to put my school at jeopardy of
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: losing all their players. So at that point, you say, well,
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: maybe I should have retired a lot earlier. Maybe I
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: should think this, and maybe the athletic department should plan ahead.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: If something like this happens, I mean, that's, that's not
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: the player's fault. And that's not that it's on the
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: school for this happening. Cause I'm telling you, I have
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: to believe at Virginia and maybe not Virginia. I think
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: that was a bit of a surprise, but at Auburn
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: and at Oregon. Now I have to believe the school
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: knew this was going to happen and they kind of
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: held him off from doing it. until the athletes, the
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: players are stuck there for the season to help the
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: coach that comes in as the interim coach.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know so much as I would blame
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: the schools, but I would definitely think that Altman knew
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: something was up. And I don't know, maybe he's just
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: trying to prop up his longtime assistant, make him look good.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Maybe he thought he liked this team, but his heart
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: wasn't in it. And maybe he wants old Tony to
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: look like the winner. So I don't know, but it
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: is a really weird situation. I hated it when I
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: saw it yesterday because I just, I think, You said
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: the right word. It's extremely selfish.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, without a doubt. I'm just, I'm telling you there's
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: conspiracy theories out there. And I think the athletic department
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: knew this as well. And this is in conspiring to
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: help the next coach. And I don't, I don't like that.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: And if that makes them jeopardize having a team and
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: they got to go out there and be an LSU,
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: I mean, I think that's what should happen. That's, that's
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: just the way it should be.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: So, uh, LSU wants them to be in the portal immediately.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: Huh? Did you hear that joke Will Wade said referring
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: to Lane Kiffin and we got him just in time?
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: It's like, oh my gosh, man. He was at a
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: Rotary Club speaking yesterday and made that joke. Listen, you
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: go speak anywhere, it's on record. People are going to
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: repeat what you're saying. Because, you know, Lane Kiffin is
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: under radar right now. And I'm telling you even more so,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: Will Wade is under radar. And people are watching what
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: they do. Because They're going to say a lot of
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: this is unfair, what's going on. But anyway, Jolene texted in.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: She hadn't texted in since August.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Welcome back, Jolie.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, happy birthday, Michael. Well, thank you, Jolie. Wishing you
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: all of the best. Fingers crossed my brew crew get
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: to meet your rays in the World Series. Cheers. Jolie,
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: that's really nice. I really appreciate that. That put a
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: smile on my face without a doubt.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Y'all have to link up and go to a game together.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: I don't know if Ms. Patricia would care for that.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: But she would say, no, Michael, I'm going to the games.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: And that's some other lady. But one person texted in,
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: beneath the stadium with you, my brown-eyed girl. Yes, that's
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: a great line. One of the most enduring oldies ever.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Michael. Is your horse running in Elmont, New
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: York today? Name and race, por favor.
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: So... After we're done in the next, well, within the hour,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: are you ready? I am going to go try and
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: figure out how to go catch the subway from my
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: son's apartment and take the subway from here up to
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: Grand Central, switch over to another train, and ride it
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: out to Belmont Park. Fingers crossed I get this done.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: I don't have much faith in me.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: What race is it?
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: So it's race seven. At Belmont Park, we have, it's
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: Hunting Goodwill.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Oh, six to one, I'm in.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Yeah, six to one. And he's got post position six.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: So it's on the turf. It's a mile and a 16th,
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: and it's his first start. And he's six to one.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: So Horacio DePaz trains this horse, who I've come to really,
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: really like Horacio DePaz. And Manny Franco. who is the
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: top jockey at Saratoga this summer, is riding them. And
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: he's continuing his successful ways at Belmont Park. So, yeah,
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: he's going to be racing at Belmont Park. So I've
- 1:14:31Speaker 2: gotten two bucket lists in a matter of 24 hours.
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Going to a Yankees playoff game at Yankee Stadium and
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: going to see a horse race at Belmont Park, the
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: new Belmont Park on top of it all. I'm going
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: to take lots of pictures of that. Because I think
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: that's going to be, they say it's an absolutely amazing place. So, yeah,
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: there you go, 48 Handley. If you want to watch
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: the race, I know America's Day at the Racing, you
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: can watch it on FX2 or FX1, one or the other.
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: And you can also get on YouTube and look up
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Belmont Park or NYRA, New York Racing Association, NYRA, and
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: follow it along on YouTube as well. and watch all
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: the races. So I'm hoping I get a little TV
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: time this afternoon.
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: I'm excited. You didn't get any last night, which I
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: was very disappointed. I kept looking for you. Never did
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: see you, but I went, I went three across on
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: hunting Goodwill. So let's get it done today.
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Oh, you've already done it. Oh my gosh.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: I already did.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: Okay. All right.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: You owe me nine bucks if it loses.
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: See, I'm not doing that. No, no, no. Uh, are you,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: are you ready for this? Yeah. And I want to
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: know how long you can do one. A 61-year-old Canadian
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: woman broke her own record at doing this one thing. Planking.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Are you ready for how long she did a single plank?
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: I want you to guess how long you think she went.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Mind you, a 61-year-old woman. I would say like 17 hours.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: Oh, no, you're way over.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. She went five hours doing a single plank.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: That's what I say. 61-year-old woman doing this.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: I don't even think I can go five minutes.
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: See, that's what I was trying to figure out. Because
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: I've done many planks. They say it's really good. If
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: you have a bad back, the best thing to do
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: is get your abdomen strong, your midsection on your body.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: And that will help with your back. So planking is
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: one of the best things to do. I hate doing them.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: Every time I do one, my butt's way up in
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: the air. It's like, no, no, no. You got to
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: keep your butt as close to the floor as you can.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I don't think I could go. I bet I could
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: go two minutes and that's it.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: I bet you couldn't.
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: You don't think I could do two minutes?
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: And you think you can go five minutes?
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: No, I said I don't think I could go five.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: Okay, how long do you think you could go then?
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: I think I'd be lucky to get 90 seconds. That
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: would probably be the top for me.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Really? 90 seconds?
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: No, I kind of want to try it during this
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: next break. See if I can do it.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you can do more than 90 seconds.
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: You're already looking at the ground. That floor is so
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: disgustingly filthy.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: I vacuumed earlier this week, so we're good.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Oh, you did?
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to pick out my spot.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: You want to come over to my house and vacuum
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: some for me?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Everything's got a price, Michael Bennett.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Oh, of course it does. There we go. Price, price, price.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: I'm not doing it for free. Are you kidding me?
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: I still think I could do two. I don't know.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Maybe you're right.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Let's try it during the break. How about that?
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: Oh, geez. I don't want to start sweating before I
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: have to go.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: You're not going to sweat from a plank.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: Oh, I think I am. Oh, I definitely think I am.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: I'm going to be sweating like a dog. All right.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: I don't want to get into it yet, but I
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: do want to talk about the UK football game. I
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: want to save that for the last break. Because there
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: are a number of things I think that UK can
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: do positively, but then there's some things I'm a little
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: concerned about from the football standpoint. But anyway, I'm looking
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: forward to the race. Sixth race. I'm sorry. Seventh race.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Sixth position. Hunting Goodwill. You can go watch that. everywhere
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: uh that you want to and what is it 4
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: 30 okay yeah i'm going to get out there early they.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Were really 4 31 technically they sent me tickets a
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: parking pass and a food voucher wow how do you
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: like that oh yeah it's.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Like how much money am i going to be able
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: to spend i don't need the parking pass i don't
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: even have a car.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Hopefully they got good tenders and fries.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: Oh geez i not going to get that. I'll get
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: something else just to make it. But when you think
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: of New York food, what's the first thing you think of? Well,
- 1:18:56Speaker 2: of course, a hot dog at a baseball game. Yeah.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: I should have had a hot dog. I made a mistake.
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: I had pizza for lunch yesterday. It was the first
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: thing I wanted as soon as I got off the plane.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: Got to his apartment, dropped my bag off, and went
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: and got a piece of pizza.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: I still think you messed up by not getting the
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: steak sandwich.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but here is the problem with the steak sandwich.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: I know it's going to be a terrible take. I
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: don't like American cheese. And they were putting American cheese
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: on the steak sandwich.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: You probably could have got it without cheese. Probably so.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I'm with you. If I'm eating a steak sandwich, I
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: don't want cheese on it. Yeah, no, just give me
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: the steak. I don't even want the bread. I'm going to.
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: Just gnaw the whole steak, hold it in my hand,
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: and just go on. All right, we've got to take
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: our last break. When we come back, we're going to
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: talk about U.K. football and the LSU game and then
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: some of the other games that are happening this weekend,
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: which I'm really excited about because I think it's a
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: fun-filled weekend of football this weekend. So stay right there.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: One more segment of Just the Cats coming right up.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Watching the sun.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: Bake All of those tourists Covered with oil Strumming.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: My six strings.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Just got a text from Kenny Brooks' office. So he's
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: going to be on either next Tuesday or next Thursday
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: with us. So just trying to finalize that. So either 930...
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: nine 30 on one of those two days. So I
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: think next Thursday sounds a good day to have him on.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm in.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I think next Thursday would be a perfect day.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: You know, October 15th, there's really not much going on
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: that day. I think October is a perfect 15th. The
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: best day to have him on.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: I think so too. Although I think I won't be here.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Oh, you gotta be kidding me. No, we can't do that.
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: Then I was just messing with, cause I know it's
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: your birthday that day.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: I think I will not be here that day, by
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the way. you are not doing a plank for two minutes.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: I'm here to tell you right now, if you can
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: last 20 seconds, I will give you all the kudos
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: in the world.
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: Seriously.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I went 15.4 seconds.
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: That's all. That's all.
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: It was, it is so hard. And it hurts so
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: much as Michael now gets on the floor to try
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: to do a plank in his son's apartment. You're going
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: to be screaming here anytime soon because it is painful.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: I can beat you. I can't do two minutes right now.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: Holy cow. Yeah. Okay, yeah, two minutes was a bit
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: of an exaggeration.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Well, and the hardest part is getting up. Oh, no.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Tell me about it. I mean, my gosh, man, this
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: old fat guy. Are you kidding?
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: I mean, I think I'm exercising on air. I love it.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: I like that. All right. Let's talk about UK football
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: in your mind, Justin. What does UK have to besides
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: score more points? OK, don't answer that. But but on
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: the on the field, what does UK have to do
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: to win this game?
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: Obviously take care of the football. I mean, that's something
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: they've been really good at doing all year long. They
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: don't cough it up all that often. So if you
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: can take care of the ball, especially if you got
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: a little bit of rain and moisture in the air,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: that's going to become a little bit more tricky in
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: terms of hanging onto the football, but can't have any
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: costly interceptions. And then defensively, I know we talked about
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: how they're down and they've got a number of players out,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: but If you can force some turnovers, maybe force two turnovers,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: then I think you're going to be in a pretty
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: good shot here to somehow sneak away with the win.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think a win is off the
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: table in this game. Let me just say that.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. But percentages are against Kentucky. I mean, every
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: time you turn around, Las Vegas is betting against Kentucky
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: and Kentucky has proven them wrong. Two out of the three,
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: the only game that they were right was the Alabama game,
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: but UK prudent wrong with the Texas a and M
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: game in the South Carolina game. So I I'm still
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: kind of surprised, especially if this game was in Baton Rouge,
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: I would, I would agree that the game should be
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: double digit as far as UK being the dog on that.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: But since it's in Lexington and UK keeps finding ways
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: to win these games, I was kind of surprised. It's,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: Anything above seven points. Seven, I would probably agree with.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: But man, when you get up nine, 10, 11, some places,
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: it's like, come on, really? I just was surprised by that.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: You think Lane Kiffin, who is known to do a
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: lot of trick plays, you think he's going to bring
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: anything out of the bag against UK?
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: No question.
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: No question.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: Especially since he's putting up these fake things. I'm like you.
- 1:24:30Speaker 2: You said at the beginning of the show you feel
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: like he's worried about they're scared of this game. I
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: feel the same way, that he's really worried about this game.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: But maybe he gets worried about every game. It just
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: seems like– but it's different with Kentucky. This is not
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: last year's Kentucky team. Because, you know, Kentucky went down
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: to Ole Miss, what was that, three years ago and
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: beat them when Kentucky had no reason to beat them
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: down there.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: Mm-hmm. I mean, anything's possible. It's SEC football. We were
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: talking about it earlier with SEC basketball, but anybody can
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: beat anybody on any given night. If you come out
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: and you play your best, maybe your opponent's not at
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: their best, then, yeah, anything can happen. So I think
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: that's what kind of makes this game exciting is the
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: fact that You have seen Kentucky already win an improbable
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: game this year down at Texas A & M. I mean,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: so who's to say they can't do it again? Now
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: this time you're at home. You're going to have a
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: crowd that is going to be out of control loud,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: if I anticipate correctly. I just think the atmosphere at
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: Kroger Field is going to be crazy on Saturday.
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: Absolutely. I mean, because I know you said it earlier,
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: it's a matter of UK offense can outscore LSU's offense.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Does UK have enough offense to beat LSU?
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: Do they have enough defense to beat LSU? I think
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: that's the bigger question.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Yeah, that I'm not convinced of.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: I'm not either. That's probably the part I'm worried about
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: the most is on the defensive side. It's not the offense.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: And because I know they're going to be guarding and
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: be it all probably double team Kenny Darby the entire game.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: That's fine. If you get DJ Miller back.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Well, that does help. And I think the fact that
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: you've got some confident tight end as well, that can
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: get out there and catch the ball. I just, plus
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: you got Jason Patterson back. I mean, once you get
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Patterson back, you kind of feel good about that. So,
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: but you're right. Once you get some of these players
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: back to the office side, I'm not really concerned about
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: the offense. It's got to be a clean-play game. We
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: cannot fumble the ball, and Kentucky cannot throw interceptions. They
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: just can't give them easy chances to score. Now, if
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: we get that on the other hand, I'm starting to
- 1:26:55Speaker 2: feel really good about this. I am. I am looking
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: forward to this game and see how Kentucky can handle
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: an LSU team. Because, yeah, do I think they should
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: be ranked where they are, but do I think they're beatable?
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: Absolutely they are beatable. Yeah. And I think this UK team,
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: with Will Stein at the helm, I mean, he has
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: changed the whole dynamic of football at UK. There is
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: a mentality we haven't seen there in a while. And
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: that's the part that's fun to me. And not only
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: do you witness the players buying into this program, now
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: we're starting to see the fan base buying into this program. Because,
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: you know, before... I'll give you an example from last weekend.
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: Down 17, I'm done. It's like, okay, here's same old
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Kentucky team. Well, same old Kentucky team doesn't come back
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: and win that game. Same old Kentucky team doesn't come
- 1:27:49Speaker 2: back and have all kinds of changes at halftime and
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: come out there with confidence and win that game. That's
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: not the same old Kentucky team. That's the part I
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: love the most, Justin.
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: You know what Trevor's been calling that?
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: What?
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: He has been saying for a couple weeks now that
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: Kentucky fans as a whole you're all suffering from Stoops brain.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: Like you're, you're so used to the way that Stoops
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: did things that you, you're not, you haven't rounded into
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: form yet with the way that Will Stein does it.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: So your, your natural instinct is to go to worst
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: case scenario more times than not, because that's what would
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: have happened under Stoops.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: Well, he's right. And I think that's a great way
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: to say it, but it's, it's, it's happened long before
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: that though, too. It wasn't just Stoops. We would end
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: up losing games with Howe Mummy, Bill Curry, Jerry Claiborne,
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: even Rich Brooks. Even though Rich Brooks turned it around
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: at UK, we would still There would be games where
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: it's like we would lose to Tennessee when we should
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: have never lost to Tennessee. We would lose to Florida
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: when we should have never lost to Florida. So it
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: wasn't just Stoops. But, you know, Stoops was there 11 years.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: So you can't help but think time management, not calling
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: timeouts when you should have, not making adjustments at halftime.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: I mean, yes, Trevor is right. And that was very
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: insightful to say something like that. And it's hard to
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: overcome those things.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: You just got to start believing. I mean, like I said,
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: I think they've got a decent shot to win this
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: game on Saturday. For me, another factor of this game
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: that I think is going to really play out in
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: a positive way for UK, if they can handle it,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: you've got to get the defense off the field. You
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: can't let LSU have these long, sustained drives where they're
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: picking up multiple third or fourth downs. And then on
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: the inverse of that, when your offense is on the field,
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: you've got to try to do that to them. Make
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: their defense– war out, keep them out on the field
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: as long as possible. Be efficient in third down or
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: fourth down if you get to that spot and just
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: wear them out defensively. And I like the odds a
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: lot more for this game.
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: Well, you got to get off the field when it's
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: third down. If you get LSU on third down, you
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: got to stop them there and make it fourth down.
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: You can't just let the, because that was the one
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: thing that UK was really guilty of last week with
- 1:30:09Speaker 2: South Carolina. It's like, okay, third down. You can't let
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: them get up for it, especially when it's third and long.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: It's like, what are you doing here? So And that's
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: where I think the linebacker position has really been hurting
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: without a doubt. So, all right. I do love that
- 1:30:26Speaker 2: CJ Baxter and Jason Patterson, as I mentioned, are both back.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: I think that'll help. I do feel like this, though.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: If UK does win, they should wear that uniform for
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: every other game the rest of the season.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: No.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: Oh, come on. No.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I'm not. Look, I'm superstitious when it comes to sports,
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: but I'm not that superstitious.
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: I'm just a little stitious. So other SEC games this weekend,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: you got Texas A & M at number 14, Missouri.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: I think this is a defining moment for Elko. If
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: he's going to be able to stay at, I know
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: he hadn't been there that long, but man, if he's
- 1:31:07Speaker 2: going to stay at A & M, he's got to
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: show something in Columbia.
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: Well, good news for him is, If you've paid attention
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: to the SEC this year, if a team goes and
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: gets a huge win like Missouri got last week, more
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: times than not, the following game, they're not nearly as sharp.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: It's a letdown. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Exactly. UK almost experienced that as well. With a big
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: win down at College Station, then they should have beaten
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: South Carolina. But they ended up winning, thank goodness. But
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: South Carolina is at number 16, Florida. I mean, it
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: just doesn't get any easier for Shane Beamer. And man,
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: that fan base is all over. Did you watch his
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: weekly news conference this week? Oh, it's just brutal to watch. So, yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: you got that game going on. I don't think Florida
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: will have a hard time with them at all.
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: I don't either.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's going to be a good recovery
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: game for them after getting blown out by Missouri last weekend.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: You got number one Texas playing Oklahoma in the Red
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: River rivalry. Is this the game they play in Dallas?
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: I don't know where they play this one.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: I think it's at AT & T State. Yeah.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: But, I mean, that game lost a lot of its
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: luster with Oklahoma not being as good.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Have they been a bit of a disappointment in
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: the SEC, by the way? I kind of think so.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: You got number nine, Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. I think
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: this is an interesting game as well to see if
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Vanderbilt can come around and beat Ole Miss because I'm
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: still not a buyer on Ole Miss yet.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: I'm not a buyer on Vanderbilt.
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Oh, you're not?
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Diego's not walking through that door.
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: No, but they got that freshman quarterback from Georgia that
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: he's going to be good. He's not there yet, but
- 1:32:59Speaker 2: he's going to be good.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: I agree.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: So then you got the big game, Georgia. Number two
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: versus number six, Alabama and Tuscaloosa. Now, I think this
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: game is going to show you what the Bulldogs are
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: made of.
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: I was thinking the opposite. I think it's going to
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: show you what Alabama's made of.
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: Oh, really? Okay. So you think Alabama comes away with
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: a win is what you're saying?
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: I don't. No, I think Georgia.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: Oh, you don't?
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: I think Georgia wins this game, but I do think
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: there's an opportunity for Alabama to show the rest of
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: the country, hey, we've got that number six by our
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: name for a reason. So, if they lose that game by,
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: I don't know, three to seven points, somewhere in that ballpark,
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: I think that's a respectable result.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: All right. So, by the way, I just got a
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: call from the trainer, Horacio DePaz. Scared to live and die.
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: I think he forgot him on the radio. He goes, Michael,
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: don't worry. I just want to see if you're coming
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: to the race. It's like, oh, my gosh. It's like,
- 1:33:53Speaker 2: I'm thinking scratch. And I'm like, oh, please, not when
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: I've come all the way up here.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: I was about to withdraw that bet. Oh, I know.
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: Exactly. Oh, can you do that, by the way? Uh-huh.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: Can you? I didn't realize that.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I can cancel it up until the post-op.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That's really cool. Okay.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: I'm not going to because it's winning, baby!
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: Woo! I hope you're right. We'll see. Patrick texted in,
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays. Looks like you helped
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: by being in New York, Michael. I would like to
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: think that now I have to go to Florida and
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: go to these games. I think that's what I need
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: to go to Florida. 48 Handley said defense is the problem,
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: so it That's the concern. I don't know if it's
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: the problem. That is my biggest worry. All right, Justin,
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: I'm going to let you go. We'll talk to you soon.
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: Thank you for listening. Just the cats. We'll see you soon.
