- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello everyone and welcome back to another episode of the Live Well podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: It is a gloomy day here in Toronto.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: It was it's starting to clear up a bit now, but there was a lot of like rain showers and it just felt like what is like a Monday with like raining in the morning.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's such like a Monday type of vibe.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, luckily things have been open in Toronto, so I had a wonderful weekend getting outside and finally getting to have brunch on a patio.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I feel like we are the like the last ones like on the planet basically to come out of lockdown.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: And I know um we are like the people who've been in lockdown the longest compared to other parts of the world, so finally excited.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I also have reservations for this Friday to go to Vibi Sushi Place and go shopping with some friends.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I am so excited.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: So it's like it just feels like summer game, you know, when you can go out, you can go to patios and everything like that.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: So super excited.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: As I always give an Akasha update in my my little live well updates, Akasha is doing well, her parasites have cleared.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I got a text from the vet this morning.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Um, I feel like I need to do a whole episode on like puppy life slash raising a puppy, and because also from what I understand, she has been a more difficult puppy than most.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: So at least that would help some of you guys out if you're getting a puppy and you experience the same troubles.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: So maybe in the future I will do that.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, I did want to announce because I launched something new today.

- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Let's get into this episode all about trauma.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Live Well Podcast.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: This podcast is designed to help you live well, body, mind, and soul.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Liv, a natural health and wellness expert.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And each week you will walk away with the insights, tools, and tips to truly live your best life.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to live well, you are in the right place.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: A new episode starts now.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Alrighty, everyone, welcome back to another episode, and today we're diving all into trauma.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is something I've been meaning to do a little like riff mini podcast episode about because this comes up all the time.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: I'm getting DMs like, oh, I've tried, you know, this many functional medicine doctors and naturopaths, and I'm eating clean and I'm taking supplements, but I'm still bloated, I still have hormonal issues, I'm still stressed out, I'm still not sleeping, I'm still not losing weight, I'm still not feeling good, I'm still breaking out, whatever it is, basically you're still not feeling good and it's still a mess.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: And every single time I always say, it's because you are not doing the emotional work.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: You are not releasing the emotional trauma which gets, you know, stored in your body.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Like, why do I have no libido?
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Why do I have all this?
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: It's oftentimes because of the emotional stuff that we are, you know, storing in our bodies.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And no matter what, you always need to get to the root, which is trauma.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And after a while, if you don't do this, even with taking supplements and eating a clean diet, you are going to be, you know, back to square one because your body isn't like deprived.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, like, depending on your nutrition, your body, yes, can be deprived of like certain nutrients, but that's not the real root.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: The herbs and supplements in the clean diet can help, but the real root can be, oh, you're stressed out over your boss.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're stressed out because of you know relationships, or the childhood trauma that you've you know you've stored since you were little.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And oftentimes people tell me, Well, I don't have trauma, but what we have to understand is that there's a scale to trauma.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: It is not just trauma is not just you know being you know physically abused or mentally abused when you're although it can include that.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Trauma can be like you lost your mom for five minutes in the grocery store, and that is enough to subconsciously store in your body the feeling of abandonment or the feeling of being rejected, and that's gonna carry out into your gut health.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: So if you're getting bloated all the time, that could be a reason why.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And then oftentimes people don't feel free to express themselves because they feel like their trauma isn't valid.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And I'm here to tell you that no matter what your trauma is, it is valid.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: It can be something like losing your mom in the grocery store, or it can be something, you know, like going to war, seeing someone get killed, losing a family member or a loved one that was just super close to you.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: It can be witnessing something, you know, but it can also be those quote unquote what you think smaller things are.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So whenever time people tell me that they don't have trauma, I almost like I half laugh and be like, mm, sweetheart, you have trauma.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: We all do, and that's something to be ashamed of.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Everybody has trauma.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: It would be pretty much impossible to go through life and not have trauma, me included.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And it's only when I started working through that stuff did my health like finally get to that stage where it was like healed.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: You know, I had taken the supplements, I had cleaned up my diet, you know, not eating gluten, doing this, and my gut had repaired.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Like, do not get me wrong, that stuff helps.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: But you need to do it all.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: There's still times where, like, well, I'm eating clean, I'm taking all the things, I'm working out.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Well, why am I still bloated?
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: And it was because I hadn't released, you know, childhood trauma of you know, feeling unworthy, being a people pleaser, feeling guilt, shame, being like fear of rejection, being bullied, you know, when I was in high school and middle school, all of those things and up adding to physical manifestations of symptoms.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: So I want you guys to think about trauma is basically like an energy blockage, and it keeps the body basically reliving the trauma every time you encounter it.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So this can also lead you to be afraid of being too much or not enough or not worthy, that emotions are bad, and then you push down all that trauma, right?
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Because your subconscious doesn't want to deal with it.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: To keep you safe, it might push it down, but it's still there, it's still lingering in the back of your head.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: And so every time you're basically triggered into a fight or flight response that you're not fully aware of.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: So, not to mention the fact that we have like normal adult things that we're going through for a fight or flight response, but now we're also adding into the fact that we didn't release the trauma from when we lost mom in the grocery store when we were five years old, and we definitely went into a fight or respon fight or fight or flight response then, and your body is still you know storing that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: So every time you go to the grocery store, do you know what your body does?
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Your body goes into a fight or flight response, and then you go home and you eat it cleaned in, you're like, well, why am I bloated, Liv?
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: And you're bloated because you went to the grocery store, which seems innocuous, but because you have a traumatic event that you don't even consider trauma, but isn't actually an energy blockage in your body, you are storing that, and that is going to lead to bloating, constipation, diarrhea, hormone issues, anxiety, you know, even things like hormone issues caused by subconscious stress or you know, skin stuff coming up through your skin, whether it's eczema, psoriasis, acne, all of this stuff, there ends up being an emotional route to absolutely everything.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: I mean, I have done some like emotional eating podcasts in the past, so go back and listen to that, even things like weight gain or weight loss, like there's certain types of weight gain in certain areas that means certain things and certain emotions.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And until you go back and release the trauma, no matter how much weight you try to lose by eating clean or doing this or exercising, your body is not gonna feel safe to do so, and so it's gonna gain it back.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So it's really not until you work through that emotional trauma can you fully get the health that you really, really want.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Think about it like a light bulb.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: A light bulb that's constantly on and burning away.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: And you may not even know the light bulb's on, but the light bulb's burning and burning, and this trauma is just sitting there and sitting there in your body.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Until you turn that light bulb off, it's going to keep burning, just as that trauma is going to keep making you have headaches or making you have hormone issues or making you bloated or making you constipated.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: Um, this is especially true when people are like, oh, I've struggled with it for years, or you know, I had one thing um, you know, a few years ago and now I've never recovered since.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: That always, always tells me that there is trauma in the body that needs to be released.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: And not to mention this, but it also stops you from feeling pleasure.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: Because if you are storing trauma in your body, your body as a protective mechanism is not gonna allow you to feel delicious, it's not gonna allow you to experience life as wonderful and magical as it could be.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: So when I tell people, like, oh my god, like I live for my morning coffee, like my morning coffee turns me on, like life should be turned on.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: However, you're not gonna be able to feel pleasure.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna be able to be turned on by your morning coffee, let alone your partner in the bedroom, if you have trauma in your system because you're stuck in a fight or flight, right?
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: You guys have heard me talk about the fight or flight response before, but you're not gonna be in that rest and digest.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: The rest and digest is not only exactly what it sounds like, which you know helps you digest food and helps you sleep, but it helps calm your nervous system down to actually enjoy, feel gratitude, feel love, feel happiness, and feel all of these things.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: But if your nervous system is still jacked up, you know, from being left in the grocery store, like not being able to find mommy for five minutes at the grocery store when you're five, well then your nervous system is still gonna be wired, and you get that wired and tired feeling.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: If you feel like you're you like need caffeine a lot, that's a sign that your nervous system is out of whack and it's probably dealing with a lot of trauma that needs to be released.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: And so unfortunately, you can't clear it by yourself, right?
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: That there's a reason it's called shadow work, it's because it is your shadow, and oftentimes you have probably pushed it down where you don't even remember what it was that first made you feel unworthy or first made you feel not enough.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Sometimes you, you know, you do, which is great.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Um, and then you can always like work with someone to release that.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: But even then, even if you knew, okay, yeah, I remember when I was, you know, left in the grocery store, for you to release it on yourself is very difficult.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Even I don't clear things on myself from myself, right?
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: So there's an advantage to working with someone both not only to help you clear it and help you clear it deeper, but also to help you clear things that you may not know what they are, where they came from.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And that's the beauty about like trauma work and what the work that I do with people is that you don't actually have to remember that you know you were five years old in the grocery store.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: You can, and like because of my intuitive nature, I will I'm able to see things.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: If you've had a a reading with me or you've been a one-on-one client, you know that I'm like, oh yeah, when you were seven, XYZ happened, and I see you like you know in the playground, or I see you at home in the kitchen with your mom, or you know, I see you wearing this, and people are always often so shocked, they're like, Oh my god, like how can you see that?
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: And so, like, that's also like a gift that I have, but even then, you don't even have to know where it was for us to release it.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: Even every single time that I go back, people are quite shocked by how they can feel it in their body.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: They either feel tension or emotion or constriction, like they feel a sensation in their body, and then you know, we release it and they're like, wow, and they don't realize how often they're like, Oh yeah, I don't get bloated anymore since we did that.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Um actually, this was reminded me of a one-on-one client that I was talking to last week, and this is crazy.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Guys, when she came to me, she was doing enemas twice a week in order to poop.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're not unfamiliar with what an enema is, basically it's a little tube you shove out your butt, put some water up there to release um your poop so that you can go because you're super constipated.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: And she had been to so many doctors, she was eating clean, she's grain-free, gluten-free, doesn't eat refined sugar, like eat super clean.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, she had done some energy work, she'd gone to like some Reiki practitioners, but she never healed her gut health.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: Her gut was she was still bloated all the time, like I said, still constipated, not feeling good.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: And we've been doing emotional releases, and every single call I've had with her, it's honestly quite beautiful to watch.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: She has an emotional release and she starts crying, and we, you know, go back to different memories, different times in her life, and we release that.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: And now she's going to the bathroom every day, type four, which if you guys haven't listened to the there's no such thing as or how to what your poop says about your health.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Um, we talk all about poop perfection.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: You basically want a type four, you don't want to be constipated every day, obviously.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And she's now doing that on her own, which is so so powerful.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Like, yes, we're doing a bit of like, you know, gut repairing with some supplements, but the big game changer is going to be the emotional route.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: Because no matter what, if you are a people pleaser who's feeling guilty and shame, and you're doing that every day, plus you have all this childhood stuff, there is no supplement in the world that's going to be able to outsupplement that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: And so when people ask me, like, oh, like how what's the difference between working with you and working with another naturopath, I always tell them that I do the emotional work.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I can give you supplements, we can clean up your diet, I can teach you how to eat healthy and all of that jazz.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: But most importantly, we're gonna release the emotional health so we can stop, you know, basically triggering you every single time, like you go to the grocery store, you do this, and that way the healthy eating and the supplements actually do a much better job, and you're also able to feel a lot more pleasure in life and feel a lot more delicious.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: So, that is my little tangent on trauma.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: I want to give you guys kind of like a basic overview.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: I if you guys like this episode, I'll do a more in-depth one about how we can like manifest in your health.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: But basically, there's not much that trauma can't manifest in hormones, gut health, you know, bloating constipation, low libido, bad at hormones, like PMS, anxiety, depression, honestly, overall, even self-worth, like not feeling enough.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Like your relationships are a reflection of you know, your self-love and self-worth.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: If you've got trauma, you're not gonna have that.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: You know, your career, your you know, your income level, all of this stuff is a reflection of that.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: So that's why, you know, when I was doing emotional work with people, they got promotions.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Like I had a one client who got a$35,000 raise because we cleared her sexual trauma and raised her worth.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Huge, huge, huge stuff, guys.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: And that's why that's why this work is so important, and that's why I love what I do because I love showing people that you know there is still hope.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: If you feel like you've tried everything, you've done everything, and there is nothing you can do to feel good, I'm here to tell you that's definitely not true.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: And the amount of people who've come to me and been like, I've been to everyone, and then when I was with you, it changed my life.
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yes, because that's the power of emotional work.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: So if you guys have any questions about trauma, if you think that you're like, oh, Liv, like I think I need this, I think I have some of this, definitely shoot me a DM on Instagram.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: If my one-on-one is closed, I can direct you to another program or I can direct you to an energy healing and a causal reading.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: Um, depending on what you are feeling, I'll direct you as to what is the best for you.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Um, not everyone needs one-on-one depending on their level of trauma.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Uh, because I have like cleared someone's migraines in one energy healing before that she was having every week that left her bedridden.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: So, depending on your history, we can kind of go from there and I can tell you what is the best way to release your trauma.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So, with that being said, if you guys enjoyed this episode, I would love for you to give it a five star rating in review and tell me what you've liked from the from the episode.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Also, feel free to let me know any podcast topics you would like me to talk about in the future.
