It's stud Welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition The Store Waldo Show Episodember
0:21
six hundred ninety five for June eight, two twenty three. Welcome to this
0:27
week's edition of The ass Are two for you. I am one after show.
0:34
I am jack Back. Do you mind every single week in my coast,
0:37
the one only doctor Trey Franklin, Doctor Trey. Are you a dynamite
0:41
or collision person? My friend, I am more of an impact. Uh,
0:48
guy, I get, I don't know, you're not raw? Yeah,
0:50
I mean every every every wrestling show has to sound like a car crash
0:55
or some kind of sodomization type thing. I would you know. I had
1:00
a question for you. I was gonna ask you because I was worried about
1:03
you today. Okay, are you walking around with your respirator on in Connecticut
1:07
today? So yeah, for those not in the United States, I guess
1:12
let's peel back to the current here. So wildfires from Canada. Hope everybody
1:17
that is a Canadian listener of SRT is doing all right. The smoke is
1:22
making its way down to where I live here in the Northeast. And as
1:26
I turn around and I look outside my window, from the room that I'm
1:30
recording in my office. It is hazy. It is like dark. It's
1:36
it's like the sky looks the way it does just before a thunderstorm in the
1:41
summertime. But it's been that way for over twenty four plus hours, and
1:45
when you go outside, it just smells like you're walking into one big camp
1:49
fire. So no respirator. However, it did not take the dog out
1:55
for a long walk. Don't want her to get all messed up, and
1:59
have refrained from going out so much because as I look on my phone and
2:04
this is like, I guess nerdy here stuff. But um a QI is
2:09
the way that we measure like air quality. The air quality index a qui
2:16
UM over three hundred is considered hazardous. Presently, where I live is three
2:23
sixty four. So that is one of the most highly polluted air quality areas
2:32
in the world today. I think it's number one, is the area that
2:38
I live in, Doctor try. I mean, I'm watching the news,
2:40
and you know, of course they don't put guys in Connecticut. They put
2:44
people in the Bronx. And in Manhattan, it's just Manhattan's just New York
2:49
and they're showing it and everything and we like our our weatherman down here in
2:53
Alabama locally is kind of like a legend. Like the dudes are fans.
2:58
Maybe the best weatherman I've ever seen in my life when it comes to reports
3:00
and and uh actually seemed like he cares about the people. And he was
3:05
like, we are actually going to get some of that stuff in Huntsville over
3:08
the weekend. And I'm like, I don't even know if Huntsville knows.
3:12
Were like Canada is like it's crazy, it's a whole other world. But
3:17
that you're just seeing the reports and the Yankees game getting canceled and everything else
3:22
because we are quality. I'm like, well, uh, we beat India
3:25
at something, I guess, So there you go, we did it.
3:29
High fives all around. Doctor. They actually canceled a sports game that was
3:32
taking place indoors though w NBA at w NBA game, it's like in Barclays
3:38
in Brooklyn. Now granted the people have to travel to get there canceled,
3:42
so it's it's crazy. And like inside my place, inside my fiance's workplace
3:49
as well, like even though we're inside, you can faintly smell smoke.
3:53
It's it's bananas, it's um you know what, but at this point,
3:58
fuck it, right, I mean, if we went through a global pandemic,
4:00
I mean, what's this to me at this point? Right? I
4:03
mean, I mean everybody's got masked later around, although they're not quality of
4:08
Oh that's just probably the question. What draws better in the Northeast a w
4:12
NBA game or a GCW show. Probably GCW show. Yeah, so they're
4:16
they're protecting the eighty five people that were going to go out to the Liberty
4:19
Game to night. Yeah. Probably. I mean w W NBA is going
4:25
doing well. I mean, I guess I probably shouldn't have said that,
4:27
But GCW I think would be more popular. I don't know. We actually
4:31
we'll find out they're actually coming back to Alabama here next But we just had
4:35
a AW Life show. I was just gonna say, AW was in town.
4:41
Weren't they. Yeah. I did not go because I have a job
4:45
on. Like a lot of the people in Alabama, I couldn't make it.
4:48
But I do know h Conrad's Thompson's part time. I know Conrad was
4:55
there. I know that his UH co host on all of his shows,
4:58
Cassie Okay, was there. So I know quite a few people that went
5:00
to the show. Tony Kahn was there from reports I got, but I
5:06
was not there, so once again, not a special invite. I can't
5:10
even get on AW presents Ring of Honor, So I'm a little disappoint what's
5:15
the What are you hearing from people? Like? Do they enjoy the show?
5:17
Yeah? They said the show is good, A lot of it.
5:19
I mean they, I mean Darby was there. I don't remember. Jeff
5:25
Jarrett was there like some other people. It was not the top top guys,
5:31
but and I don't mean FTR, I mean like legitimately like the main
5:34
event guys, but you know, the upper mid card guys show is pretty
5:40
good. They also had some of their younger talents on the show, so
5:43
some matches were not so good but didn't draw fantastic, but didn't drop bad.
5:49
Like it was about nine hundred thirteen hundred people from from what I read,
5:56
so better than us at Rockets City, but not quite to what WW
6:01
typically draws when they come to Huntsville. Yeah, weird times for AW right
6:04
now. Obviously, a couple of weeks ago we talked about the attendance from
6:09
AW double or nothing. There's reports that some of the shows for the upcoming
6:14
Canada Swing the debut in Canada like that, they've only sold seven hundred tickets,
6:17
which is mind boggling. Like I know, AW creatively hasn't been hitting
6:23
on all cylinders lately, but I wouldn't have figured that seven hundred people would
6:27
just be buying tickets right now for one of the Canada shows. So hopefully
6:29
that improves. Which kind of go ahead, doctor try as I'll say,
6:32
I mean, once the game Canada is on fire? True, so true,
6:36
maybe they end up canceling that for all we know? Yeah, a
6:41
little bit. Yeah, so getting right into AW with that said, somebody
6:46
that could help those ticket sales, but I guess he hasn't because those are
6:49
collision shows. Is one cmpunk We talked about it towards the end of the
6:55
show last week. It kind of gets stuffed to weigh with everything that was
6:59
going on with or nothing, NXC Battleground and Night of Champions. But okay,
7:04
here we are now, Dot Trey, We've got a full slate of
7:06
hat. We've had some time to really think about this, and we got
7:10
to ask ourselves what is next for cmpunk in AW? Is it heal?
7:15
Is it Babyface? What does his first feud. Looks like there's reports out
7:19
there right now that the plan tentatively could be that his first match, which
7:25
by the time everybody listens to this will have bell already been announced. We're
7:28
recording it before Dynamite this week, is or excusing the main event for Collision,
7:32
which I assume has cmpunk in it. But there's reports out the right
7:35
now that it would be Cumpunk and FTR feeding with Bullet Club Gold for a
7:40
little bit, Jay White, Juice Robinson, and there's supposed to be wrestlers
7:46
that will be added to Bullet Club Gold soon. I want to be shocked
7:48
that maybe we get a turn of a Ricky Starks, maybe he sides with
7:53
Juice and Jay White in this feud with FTR. What are your thoughts,
7:59
Doctor Trey? What what's next? We've we've got the word out Sumpunk is
8:03
coming back. What does he come back as a heel? A baby face?
8:07
Who does he feud with? What's the direction of punk over these next
8:09
several weeks as he makes his return back in a professional wrest and after brawl
8:13
out. So I mean to me, I think since it's gonna be Collision
8:20
and it's gonna be in Chicago. He asked to kind of come back as
8:22
a baby face. I think though, as collision progresses and he sees they
8:28
see what the crowd responses in other areas, that that may change. But
8:33
you know, there there is quite a lot of fans that still love Cumpunk,
8:37
And you know, we talked to going back to the brawl out everything
8:41
else. Like I found logic, and I didn't hate what he said.
8:46
I hated how he said it and presented it, but there's a lot of
8:50
truth in that. I think the older generation probably you know, goes along
8:54
with that. So I'm to me, you know, you bring back in
9:00
his baby faces, see what the crowd does. I mean, the two
9:03
money matches to me are going to be to get him and Omega and him
9:05
and Jericho. So and I know reportedly him and Jericho have patched things up
9:09
or at least come to a mutual understanding, but hey, get him back
9:15
in the ring, get him back out there with FTR, let him do
9:18
like, let him help elevate j White, because I think Jay White's been
9:22
struggling in aw UM and then you know, move on to Jericho and then
9:26
build up to get to Omega at some point, but it is ironic that
9:31
if they do. From Punk and FTR, I mean that's that was the
9:35
six man match where he fracture his ankle in so kind of weird that they're
9:39
going right back into the sixth man thing. But those are his guys,
9:43
those are those are the guys that buy in and you want us surround yourself
9:45
with people that you trust. So it makes a lot of sense in that
9:48
way. So kind of jumping forward here in regards to Cehimfunk return to AW
9:54
to me this these next three months from the moment he returned Earns too,
10:01
once we get a clear picture of his direction for all in at Wembley Stadium
10:05
in London and all out in Chicago is going to be the most telling of
10:11
where things take themselves going forward. I would think that if I'm Tony Con,
10:16
if I'm aw, if I want to get the most bang for my
10:22
buck for CM Punk's return in the next three months, Doctor Trey, the
10:26
seeds have to be planted, the build needs to start happening, then the
10:30
matches need to be announced. That it is either he, as you pointed
10:33
out, takes on Kenny Omega in a feud and in a match, or
10:39
it's he an FTR taking on the Bucks and Omega. That is the money.
10:46
But if that doesn't happen, this to me just screams like, Okay,
10:50
if this isn't happening now, it will never happen, And what the
10:52
hell is the environment of aw right now? This to me is a very
10:58
crucial time, Like if we don't get that elite Punk feud nearly immediately upon
11:05
his return, then we're never going to have it, Doctor Troy. Yeah,
11:11
and you said all outs in Chicago. I believe it is. I
11:15
would imagine, So I'll double check that just to make sure. Because for
11:18
me, like I look at like, Okay, if I'm trying to fill
11:20
Wembley Stadium up and I need I need a marketing matchup, you can do
11:24
Punk and Jericho Wembley Stadium and those diehard fans are income and then that also
11:31
draws the casual fans in because hell, that's a WrestleMania rematch in Wembley Stadium.
11:37
There you get all out. It's like, yeah, Omega and Punk
11:39
would be great. But here's the thing. This is where the egos get
11:41
involved. Punk is not going to get booed in Chicago against Kenny Omega and
11:48
Omega and the Bucks are baby faces right now? Could they switch? Because
11:52
if we just did a whole don callis they we just did like we just
11:54
reunited the elite? Do you flip them because going into Chicago, you know
12:01
Punk's not going to get food? Or do you treat it like Bret Hart
12:03
in Canada when he's a heel? But then do you then make Punk a
12:09
heel heading into all Out? And if you don't pull the trigger now,
12:13
by the time you do get ready to pull the trigger, is there still
12:16
going to be enough fervor and interest in that match to really capitalize on it.
12:22
So it's really they've kind of I don't they booked themselves in the corner,
12:28
But you know, you're right, it's really interesting to see what they
12:31
do with Punk to have his return in Chicago and All Out in Chicago,
12:35
because you really he's not going to be a heel in those two places.
12:39
So do you just do the Bret Heart approach or do you just run with
12:43
it let him be a baby face? It's basically what they do with MGF
12:46
right in Long Island and everywhere else is the Bret Heart approach. And in
12:48
ninety seven for Canada. Yeah, it's it's really telling right now, because
12:54
I think once he returns, you're going to see what the atmosphere, what
13:00
the playing field is for AW, at least in the short term, which
13:03
has potential effects for the long term, because if Punk is creatively kept away
13:11
from the elite, then that to me again screams well one or both parties
13:16
never want to work with one another ever again, or ever in general,
13:20
because I don't work all them ever working with one another, and the good
13:26
for the company of controversy creates cash is not happening. I guess there's always
13:31
a case that maybe six months, nine months, twelve months from now,
13:35
that maybe they feud, but at that point I feel like the ship would
13:39
have been sailed, right. I Mean, the reason why Bret and Shawn
13:43
worked is because despite all the backstage crap in ninety seven and ninety six,
13:48
they were still working with one other in feuds and in the ring, and
13:52
they were taking shots that were very, very telling in the ring on the
13:58
microphone like this. To me, this is a game saving moment for AW.
14:03
Doctor Tree. I mean, this is what wrestling fans want to see.
14:07
People love drama. There's a reason why a lot of reality shows are
14:13
very popular nowadays is because of the drama. There is some real life drama
14:20
behind all this, and the best way to capitalize is to make money off
14:26
of it and feud Like I remember when Steve Austin came back in two thousand
14:31
and two after he left the company, took his ball and went home,
14:35
maybe it was oh three, and he started feuding with Eric Bischoff, and
14:41
because prior to all that, it was like, well, we heard the
14:45
stories. He was given the FedEx package or FedEx envelope and was fired,
14:48
and then WWE capitalized on it. Eric Bischoff himself just tummy to we is
14:56
it's his line, right, Controversy creates cash. He came WWE, and
15:01
that's something we never thought would happen, and there was some really good business
15:03
made because of it. And there was a lot of drama, real life
15:07
trauma that brought itself into the into the creative of WWE, and everybody worked
15:11
themselves into what was best for business for lack of better terms, So I
15:16
don't know, man, I just feel like if if they don't capitalize on
15:18
this in the next three months, I just don't see it ever happening,
15:22
and if it does happen, it's not going to be the same buzz that
15:26
it once was. So this is very telling talented for awn C and Punk
15:30
Doctor. Try. Yeah, I mean the way of my mind works.
15:35
I'm like, you know, if I was given the opportunity to present this
15:39
and they say, hey, we can't do it right now, but let's
15:41
build towards all in or you know, double or nothing, We're going to
15:46
build towards that, and I have a nine month build, I'm like,
15:48
all right, cool. That gives me the ability to kind of figure out
15:50
who Tony who wants to be the baby face, who he wants to be
15:52
a heel And you can start planning seeds earlier, you know, and do
15:58
a little bit of that long term story telling that you know we love WW
16:03
with to get to that point, because then you can circle back to all
16:06
this stuff and people like God, this is you can build the anticipation to
16:10
get to it. You know, if you do it early, it's still
16:12
going to do gangbusters. But you know, there is a way to do
16:17
it long term where it works. But right now, like I said,
16:18
if you have both these, you know, with the elite being baby phases
16:22
and Punk and FDRB and baby phases to then try to shotgun it. You
16:27
know it's gonna lose part of its luster. So there are ways of doing
16:32
it long term where it still works, but you actually helps set start planning
16:36
the seed right now. And I would really love them for them to do
16:40
a draft and literally have Punk and Omega drafting sides, because that could really
16:45
leap to it as well. If you did a long term version, well,
16:48
that takes us into our next story here, which I don't think that
16:52
they've done a draft that's played out on television. I think there's a draft
16:56
that is played out behind the scenes based on clicks, friendliness, who likes
17:00
who. So there's a lot of discussion right now whether or not AW is
17:04
going to conduct a brand split with the addition of Saturday Night Collision coming to
17:10
our airwaves in ten days less than ten days now on June the seventeenth.
17:15
I'm in favor of the brand splint, Doctor Trey. I feel like there's
17:19
been a lot of wrestlers that have fallen to the wayside that I would love
17:23
to see on television. Each week we keep seeing the same wrestlers. Whether
17:27
I really enjoy watch him on television like a Orange Cassidy and a sort of
17:32
Stricklin or sometimes I just don't get it with like a guy such as Jungle
17:37
Boy, and other stars aren't being pushed along that where they should be.
17:45
You know, there's been a lot of storylines that have just kind of fallen
17:48
off, a lot of momentum that has been derailed. You mentioned Jay White.
17:52
I could not agree more. To me, he's one of the hottest
17:53
free agents to hit the market and sometime comes to aw and he's been floundering
18:00
a little bit. I mean, I like him being paired with Ricky Starks,
18:04
but a j White to me, and I don't I get that.
18:07
This isn't with every Rustling fan because they don't watch New Japan is a upper
18:11
mid card slash main event talent. So I'm in favor of the brand split,
18:17
dynamite collision, whatever you want to call it. But should they do
18:22
it, Doctor Trey? Ultimately, should they do it is backstage politics.
18:27
The reason why they should do it is having way too many wrestlers on your
18:33
roster and not showcasing them why they should do it, or should they not
18:37
do it at all? And just get it all together create you know,
18:41
backstage PC wise, create a peaceful atmosphere and also creatively better utilize their talent
18:48
each and every week. See like so in twelve years here in the show,
18:53
like, I've always been a proponent of the brand splits when it comes
18:56
like WW because when you have eighty guy is on your main roster, you're
19:00
always going to focus on the people that you know draw and you're less likely
19:04
to take risks to build up talent. So but on that side, there
19:10
was always the buckstops with one guy. And I know that's been said on
19:14
eight of you, but in reality right now it feels like the roster's naturally
19:18
torn in half. So isn't the right thing to do, I think for
19:23
the good of the company to actually get more TV time for some guys that
19:26
maybe are underutilized, like we talked about. Yeah, it's great. The
19:32
reasoning though if it is legitimately like I can't work with them, I can't
19:36
work with him. I want to be on this show, I want to
19:38
be on that show, is not because once again it creates that whole the
19:42
wrestlers are running the asylums, you know, mentality, and then what if
19:48
you're a guy that is neutral and you get drafted to Collision and all of
19:52
a sudden, Kenny's calling you be like, Hey, did you tell Tony
19:53
you wanted to be there because you don't like me? Like? It kind
19:56
of creates a a ground for egos to be hurt. If somebody's like,
20:03
nah, man, Don'ty just put me there? Oh? I don't know.
20:07
I kind of heard that you said something to TK about you know,
20:11
you want to be on that show and not my show. It does create
20:14
that as well. So I think, like I said, for the prosperity
20:19
of the company and the prosperity some under ULI's talent Brandsplo's great, But for
20:22
the reasoning to do it, maybe not so much. That's a trade.
20:29
This is like a weird look for aw right, Like that, there's so
20:32
much hinging on perceived backstage politics right now. I mean, for all we
20:37
know, we could be sitting here right now and see him. Punk and
20:41
the elite have spoken, they are inclined to work together. All the stuff
20:47
that we're seeing heading into it is just to kind of feed the fire fan
20:51
the flames of an eventual feud and we're all being worked which is great if
20:55
that is the case. But if it's not and that this is legitimate,
20:59
is this really a poor reflection of an organization arresting promotion like this, Yeah,
21:04
because you know what it reminds me of, And you may have to
21:07
go back into your football history books, but like the old Eagles Dream team
21:11
when they had Jonathan Wenab and Vince Young and they had all this collection of
21:15
talent and they just couldn't do anything right, Like they were constantly floundering,
21:19
and they happened to blow the team up at the end of the year.
21:22
That's kind of how it feels right now, where like, you know,
21:25
you're kind of catering to the workers and that's not always the best thing to
21:30
do in business. Now you're abotually right, like could this be a work?
21:33
The whole thing be a work and everything be copasetic on the inside.
21:36
I don't know if everything's peg keen, but they might have figured a way
21:41
to work together and they're just working the audience, because I mean, this
21:44
is a company that can keep a secret. When they don't want something to
21:48
get out, it doesn't get out. And that's always boggled me. Boggle
21:51
my mind with all of this, is that like, there's all these leagues
21:53
and I'm like, wait, we didn't know about Brody Lee. We didn't
21:57
know about you know, a lot of stuff that they don't want getting out
22:00
unless it comes unless Tony Kahn puts it out there. So I'm always kind
22:06
of puzzled that when stuff comes out from AW is it like legitimate or is
22:11
it a work today that I guess I don't know if I want to say
22:14
they're better at it than the other company, but I think it's legitimate.
22:18
Yeah, I do, I think, to me, God, I hate
22:22
saying this because I love watching a w each and every week, and I'm
22:26
happy with what they've done for the wrestling world by being a promotion that is
22:32
a legit number two and opening doors for all different talents to keep the job
22:37
going. And it makes it better for the for the wrestling world, it
22:41
makes it better for the wrestling fans. But I think this is a reflection
22:45
of a company that has a lot of people on the roster that lacked maybe
22:51
maturity and professionalism that we see in a WWE Iron cloud environment. And granted
22:56
there's always stuff that squeaks out of w E, but maybe the NXC WWPC
23:03
system teaches folks on how to be professional and how to carry yourself behind the
23:07
scenes and what to do and what to say when it comes to the dirt
23:11
cheats, because I mean that run after brawl Out was nuts with the Sammy
23:17
Cavara Entrede stuff, Eddie Kingston, like NonStop. It was like, is
23:22
am I being worked here? Or is this company just an environment wise like
23:27
just a complete shit show, because you know, all encompassing and going full
23:33
circle here. Like you and I still watch the company. We will will
23:37
tune in each and every week and be fans of the company. But we
23:41
mentioned the attendance issues and I know that it gets heat because it's like,
23:45
okay, yeah, they're having troubles in parts of Canada, but they just
23:51
opened up more tickets and have sold sixty five thou in Wembley Stadium. But
23:56
I don't know that could be all just a way to send a message to
24:02
be there first for the first UK show. Maybe it's secondary market or if
24:06
it's legit, sixty five thousand awesome, but it doesn't make sense for fans
24:11
not to show up for double or nothing and their debut Canada Swing the Canada
24:15
tour doing a debut tour all through Canada and to have reportedly sold just seven
24:22
hundred tickets for one of the Dynamites does not make sense. Maybe this is
24:26
the domino effect of all that bullshit that happened in the Fall and the Winner
24:30
of last Year and really poor creative doctor Trey. It's it's a head scratcher,
24:37
no that like when you look at it, it's it's reality television.
24:42
And you know, look, you get that reality show that kind of catches
24:45
fire and everybody watches it, and then after a while you're like, I'm
24:48
just kind of sick of all the drama and the vs. The people start
24:51
to tune it out because you know, you watch the shows and you're like,
24:56
you know, like you mentioned earlier, like why is Jungle Boy always
24:59
being feat You know, it's like certain guys they like, why are they
25:02
being pushed? But then other people aren't being pushed, and you just you
25:04
get frustrated, and you know, ww's gone through. I mean there's times
25:08
that you and I have watched the show six, seven, eight years ago
25:11
and we're like, dear God, this is god awful. So there is
25:15
those elements of frustration and then the drama and then he was like, look,
25:18
I'll come back to you when you're crafted together. That's why if you
25:22
have a favorite restaurant and all of a sudden the service gets terrible, in
25:26
the foods bad, you're just like, Okay, I can't quit you completely,
25:30
but yeah, I'm gonna take a break into I see some Google reviews
25:33
or some Yelp reviews that you guys have got your stuff together. So I
25:37
kind of feel like that's where a lot of the middle ground fans that you
25:41
got your die hards that are going to tune in h every week. But
25:45
those middle ground fans that don't really have that overwhelming affection for it are probably
25:49
just kind of like, look, you guys, figure it out and I'll
25:53
come back. Until then, I'll just I mean, other wrestling right now
25:56
is so good you don't need an alternative to appease your appetite. So we're
26:03
both on board with the brand split ultimately, right, I think for the
26:07
good of the company, you have to do it. Yeah. I think
26:10
if you just look from the wrestling perspective, let's try to shelve the drama
26:14
the best we can. I think to push new stars and get them involved
26:18
is the best thing that could happen is a brand split for Collision and Dynamite
26:22
because there's guys and girls that I want to see Wressell more and they're just
26:26
not getting it. And I was not tuning into Dark and Dark Elevation because
26:30
I felt like it was a waste of time. And I also feel like
26:33
parts of Rampage are becoming a waste of time. So if you have two
26:36
solid legit shows and Dynamiting Collision, hopefully it's the best thing to push newer
26:41
stars or stars that have not been pushed in some time. For AW.
26:45
So, man, this is a This is an interesting three months for AW
26:49
Doctor Trey because with the CM punk stuff, the new show, going into
26:55
all in, going in all out, like this is a potential turning point
26:57
for the company when you really take step back and look at everything going on.
27:03
Yeah, I don't know if it's Fork in the Road esque, like
27:07
if this goes sideways, you know, and ratings tank you know? Is
27:14
this is it a turning point towards pulling the plug? Like I don't know,
27:19
I mean like yeah, I mean TBS and T and T obviously and
27:23
Warner Brothers in general are very invested in this product. Succeeding. Otherwise they
27:27
wouldn't give them another two hour time slot. They wouldn't talk about, you
27:32
know, with the new relaunch of the HBO Max you know, streaming platform.
27:37
You know, they wouldn't be kind of investing so much in this brand
27:41
if they weren't themselves invested in success of it. But at there are times
27:47
that you almost feel like it's too toxic to touch as well. So it's
27:52
it's it is kind of that turning point, like, hey, like,
27:56
how does this work, how does it take off? And can we make
27:59
it succeed on the next level, because I feel like this company is kind
28:03
of plateau the last year they've they've kind of hit a ceiling and they haven't
28:08
forgot to push the past that ceiling yet. So this is an opportunity to
28:14
kind of breakthrough and uh, you know grab the brass ring. Like just
28:18
to be alluded to by Vince back in the day switching gears. This past
28:22
Tuesday, two matches were announced for Forbidden Door two New Japan and All Wrestling
28:26
on I believe it's June the twenty fifth in Chicago, Illinois, one being
28:32
will Ospray and Kenny Omega and their third match. There was a match at
28:34
Wrestle Kingdom earlier this year for the United State Championship from New Japan, and
28:41
I believe there was another one. I can't remember now. I know this
28:47
is the third one. That's very terrible of me, but I'm drawing a
28:51
blank on that. Nonetheless, the second match, this is the one I
28:52
want to talk about, is Brian Danielson taking on cousin Chica Okada that has
28:56
been announced forbiddenote Door two. Danielson made the challenge during Dominion for New Japan
29:03
recently, or the Dominion Tour, and I felt like we talked about this
29:07
a year ago, and to me, this is one of those ultimate wrestling
29:11
dream matches, and I feel like that it may not have been the same
29:15
for you, Doctor Trey, But nonetheless, Danielson Okada has been announced for
29:21
me ultimate wrestling dream match. We don't get many of them nowadays. Is
29:25
it for you? Heading into Forbidden Door? Is Danielson versus Occada a dream
29:30
match? I mean from a pure wrestling standpoint, Yeah, Sometimes these the
29:37
super indie show approach where it's like, Hey, I wanna take my best
29:41
indie guy and your best indie guy, or from the rain together. I
29:44
still like a story now, I will say I'm more intrigued by it this
29:48
year because we have a heel Brian Danielson as opposed to maybe in the past
29:53
and we had the baby faced Brian Danilsons. Because heel Brian Danilson can do
29:56
some you know, sneaky stuff during the match and get the crowd and riled
30:00
up against them. Was like that. So I'm a little bit more on
30:03
board with it this year. But yeah, from a pure wrestling standpoint,
30:07
this is for me what Aj and Seth could have been if, you know,
30:11
given the time, and we didn't already kind of have a foregone conclusion
30:14
too, who was going over recently at the pay per view? So for
30:18
me ultimate wrestle in Juray match which end begs the question which ones remained now
30:22
from active stars, I don't want you to be like, well, no,
30:25
I would love to see Steve Auston versus Rick Flair in his prime,
30:27
Like no, no, we can't do that. It's it's impossible. But
30:30
right now, right what are those dream matches for me? Seth rons Will
30:36
Osprey. They went back and forth on Twitter over the weekend teasing money in
30:40
the bank, like, that's not happening. There's no way unless Triple H
30:42
is completely on board with this that will Osprey is coming to we to wrestle
30:48
the week after Forbidden Door to take on Kenny and Megan. It's then going
30:52
to take on Seth Rons for the Role Hiveway Championship. It would be very
30:55
cool. They've gone back and forth on social media for some time. That
30:57
would be badass. That is certainly one that's out there. Kenny Omega,
31:02
Seth Rollins, Kenny Omega, Roman Reigns is out there. You know what
31:07
other ones remain in your mind right now? USO's FTR. I think giving
31:12
them an actual program, one that doesn't involve like shaving the other wrestlers back,
31:18
would be phenomenal. What are some of those ultate wrestling dream matches that
31:23
remain? Because I felt like Okada Danielson, I think when you really look
31:27
at things, it's like, man, I think this is I think this
31:30
is it? Maybe Rollins and Okada right Like, there's not many left and
31:34
it's hard to pick these, but what are some of your remaining Ultimate Wrestling
31:38
dream matches? Doctor Trey AJ and the OC versus the Elite that's up there
31:45
for me. Yeah, AJ versus H. I just had one. Oh.
31:51
I love see Brian Danielson and seth Rawlins. At this point they're growd.
31:55
I think they've wrestled in the past, but at this point their careers
31:57
I think would be outstanding. Um, I'm trying to think of a couple.
32:02
I had a couple other ones. Um, oh, the New Day
32:06
and the Elite, like they had their little exchange a few years ago,
32:09
they had their little head to head gaming thing before aw started. But you
32:15
know, arguably two of the greatest tag teams of our generation. You know,
32:17
going going at it would be great as well. Um, I kind
32:23
of want to see Wardlow at Roman as well. Okay, that's an interesting
32:28
one. Just like I don't know if anybody else has the physical attributes that
32:32
Roman does as close to what Wardlow has. UM trying to think of anything
32:38
else here. Should we throw out Roman in the Rock? Like, I
32:44
mean, it's once again that's one of those like ones, Like it's kind
32:46
of what Stone Cold him. Kevin Owens was like, is it a realistic
32:49
match? It's possible, but you know it's it's just the activeness of the
32:55
Rock. Mean, the Rock hasn't wrestled in what six years, seven years,
33:00
en plush years, ten years. Okay, so it's it's a look
33:04
as like I'm saying, I want to see Mickfoley and John Moxley go out.
33:07
See this is what I was a friend. See this is what I
33:09
meant. It was like, you know, Brett Hart versus cum Punk.
33:13
It's like, no, that's that's not happening. But I do think Roman
33:15
versus Rock has the potential. Doctor try no, it's it's I mean,
33:22
trying to think of some other ones, but yeah, I mean it's it's
33:24
on the table because Rocks not that point. Like Rocks maybe the most physically
33:29
uh gifted people out of the semi retired folks. You know what I'm saying,
33:35
Like, you know, he can he still looks the part, he
33:37
can still do the job. Um, there's just not a lot of guys
33:42
out there that are retired that I mean. That's like saying, like,
33:45
oh, Sean Michael, we still never gotten Shawn Michael's Brian Danielson, Yeah,
33:50
you know, yeah, that would be great. But like you know,
33:52
in anything with Kenny and aj Or Seth or Brian Danielson involved, it's
33:57
gonna be a Dream Match just because of how great they are in the ring,
34:00
uh saying with the USO's FTR, the Elite New Day, I would
34:05
say, Okada Osprey, I'm huge fans of those guys. Yeah, you
34:08
know. Osprey for me is like when those guys is like when you saw
34:13
him go to the next level when he got bigger, you know, you
34:15
saw him actually take that step into like the heavyweight range of professional wrestling.
34:21
So that's that's great as well. I mean trying to think if there's anybody
34:24
from UH Impact that I want to see the factor she's really Paul now well,
34:31
I mean you know, uh sah. Thanks. Britt Baker, Yeah,
34:37
that would be cool. And there's some reports out there today that there
34:40
were some serious conversations with Mercedes Money coming to Forbidden Door prior to her ankle
34:46
injury suffered new And during the match with Willow Nightingale to kry the first New
34:51
Japan Strong Women's Champion. That would be cool. I would agree with you
34:54
on that one. I think at Breaker versus any of the top WI stars
35:00
to me is in there as well, Becky and Seth against Adam Colambritt Baker,
35:04
that'd be cool that Yeah, we're all forgeting. We're also forgetting Adam
35:07
Cole. I'm a big Adam Cole guy. There's plenty of Adam Cole matches
35:10
that I think would be badass. I'm just trying to think, like,
35:15
like, who can I put MJF up against that? Promo wise, like,
35:20
I'd love to see m JFF and the Miss, but then again,
35:22
they're both kind of heels, and Miss isn't as elevated as maybe he should
35:27
be. But m JAFF and Rollins yeah too. I mean m JFF and
35:32
Cody and www, yeah, m JFF and Cody might be one because I
35:37
mean I know he had the one, you know, a small few with
35:39
at that point. M JAFF really wasn't Cody established m JF. MJF now
35:46
has branched out on his own. Um, try think like Black Cool Combat
35:52
Club Bloodline. Wow, well, I mean there's some stuff going on the
35:57
Bloodline right now that we'll get to your momentarily that may change things. But
36:01
I think there's plenty of Ultimate Wrestling Dream matches out there still that remain.
36:06
But Okada Danielson for me, was one of the top ones, and I'm
36:08
very excited to see this for Forbidden Door two in just a couple of weeks,
36:13
presented by aw and New Japan Pear Wrestling Real quick, Hey, real
36:16
quick. By the way, So now that's forbidden Door two. Does that
36:21
fall in line with rock Sina too? Like, if it's forbidden but you're
36:25
doing it again, is it just become the door? Well they didn't say
36:29
that this is once in a lifetime. Yeah, but it is. But
36:32
the word forbidden means you shouldn't do it, but now we're doing it again,
36:36
So is it like is it like the lumbada? Like what'd you started
36:39
the forbidden dance? But then everybody did it for a while? Like I
36:42
just I guess, I mean, I just look at it now. Is
36:45
when wrestlers come over to other companies that are not WWA. Yeah, it's
36:51
kind of been the phrase for it now, right, I know they use
36:53
it everywhere now. It's like forbidden door and the word epic. So those
36:57
two things are in line together for me, I guess in awesome always awesome,
37:00
it's used. Finally. The last thing I want to talk about here
37:02
in regards the bloodline is on Friday Night's edition of SmackDown, they are teasing
37:08
that Jay USSO will be making his decision on what is next for him.
37:13
Will he side with Jimmy Usso, who was formerly kicked out of the Bloodline
37:16
this past week's edition of SmackDown, or will he align himself with Solo,
37:22
Skoa and Roman Reigns who ultimately turned their back on Jimmy as well in that
37:27
final segment on SmackDown that was executed very very well and a great segment,
37:30
very compelling stuff. So the decision lingers, Doctor Trey. But I ask,
37:36
as a wrestling fan, what is the most compelling move? What is
37:38
going to put you closer to the edge of your seat than you were previously?
37:44
I mean, it's gonna be Jay's signing with his brother for me,
37:46
Like, I just don't see it upside Like I like Jimmy USO. I
37:51
think Jimmy us is a fantastic wrestler. But as you and I discussed last
37:55
week and we've discussed as long as it's been going on, Jay's on a
38:00
different level right now than what Jimmy is. Like his facials, the emotion,
38:05
the storytelling he's doing without wrestling is a different level than what Jimmy does.
38:10
And I think you know, with you know, I guess kind of
38:14
the decision part two since he just had a decision a few months back,
38:19
with Sammy now having a decision with his brother, is you know, compelling
38:22
story tide because of how good Jay USO is, So I think that's the
38:27
more compelling story line. And to see the Usos against Solo in Roman,
38:30
Yeah, I think that is it for me as well, because if he
38:35
sides, If Jay sides with Solo in Roman, it's like, Okay,
38:37
where do things go from here? Right? Like it just doesn't make any
38:43
It doesn't make any sense. I mean, I guess it could be prolonged
38:45
out a little bit more that three six months down the line we're talking about
38:50
Jay eventually turning on the Bloodline. But I feel like if there's a time
38:53
for the decision to be made, like this is it, And I expect
38:58
this week's edition to SmackDown and have some pretty decent viewership because of it.
39:00
Doctor Try. Yeah, I mean it's kind of like the SmackDown after elimination
39:07
chamber, like what's gonna be the fallout umber the one with Sammy and turning
39:15
on Roman Royal Rumble, And to me, it's kind of in that Vein
39:19
where I mean that rating was pretty good because you want to see what was
39:21
going to happen with Roman and Sammy and everything else. So, I mean,
39:25
the fans are bought in on this. Everybody loves its angle. I
39:28
thought that's you know, everything happened last week on SmackDown. That whole closing
39:30
segment was fantastic and it kind of went along what we talked about, like
39:35
the fact that like Solo is Jimmy and Jay's brother, but Roman is kind
39:40
of the big brother. Like it's it was really good storytelling, and you
39:45
know, I think I think the Paul Hayman segment on Monday Night Raw saying
39:47
he'll fall in line or else, I thought was good as well. So
39:52
it's just been damn good storytelling from this aspect, And you know, it's
39:55
it's fun to watch a show where you're like, man, I have to
39:58
tune in each every week to see what the drama going on storyline wise is
40:02
and not just you know, the really good wrestling. Now. I know
40:06
they parodied Good Fellas right during the stuff leading into WrestleMania they were doing.
40:13
The movie parody was for Good Fellas, Like this bloodline is a Mafioso esque
40:19
storyline that's taking place, that we're seeing the family like people being whacked and
40:23
turning, and the leader of the group like losing his mind a little bit.
40:27
It's it's some of the most compelling and riveting stuff I've seen from W
40:30
and very complex, different dimensions, different twists and turns, and I think
40:37
we all kind of know what the end result will be, like Roman will
40:39
kind of cave in and cause his empire to collapse around him, and maybe
40:44
that's the way he ushers out of W is a full timer or this state
40:49
of a full timer? But I mean it's some really great stuff, Doctor
40:52
Trey, And I'm looking forward to Friday Night's edition of SmackDown, and I
40:54
agree with the most compelling move is for j two side with Jimmy, because,
40:59
like I said before, if he doesn't, then what what do we
41:01
see next? Who could side with Jimmy. I can't see Kevin and Sammy
41:05
coming over to SmackDown, I guess no, I mean maybe returning Drew McIntire
41:10
or somebody. I think Drew's he's on raw, He's he's raw like for
41:15
me. The other question then is you know, if Jimmy's side or Jay
41:19
side to Jimmy and you go basically two on two. The heels have to
41:22
get an advantage. And so either this is the ending of the bloodline and
41:28
Roman ends up alone, or they have to bring in reinforcements. And if
41:31
that's the case, like it probably won't be something from the I mean,
41:36
there's Jacob faugh two out there on the independence, but usually at this point
41:39
they where he got somebody in developmental in line to do something. They don't
41:45
really have that. So then is there somebody they bring in, almost as
41:50
you know, a Burke for Higher type approach, to help Roman hang on
41:54
to his title as long as possible. If they do to go the route
41:58
of splitting the bloodline down the middle, you're gonna hate me for this,
42:01
but you've been brought up about like bringing somebody in, and you're looking at
42:05
it from the Roman perspective, well from the USO's perspective. If like this
42:09
becomes a family war between the Annawani family, what is the likelihood that the
42:15
stuff that we're seeing right now actually does usher or at least open the door
42:20
for the Rock to return and have this feud with Roman fighting, having this
42:23
civil war amongst his family. It's possible. But then once again, if
42:29
the Rock. The way that works for me is if Jay turns on Jimmy,
42:34
Jay stays with Roman, and then the Rock comes into basically you know,
42:39
say that in reality, he's the head of the table and what Romans
42:42
doing the family is destroying the family. Like, I don't see Rock coming
42:46
in to side with Jay and Jimmy against Roman. It would have to be
42:51
where at the end of the day they're still outnumbered for it to be a
42:54
baby faced angle that kind of works. I still have this vision that like
43:00
Roman, like Rock's mom is ringside and Roman like rips are apart, and
43:06
that's what leads into verbally rips or apart, not physically. Guys will come
43:08
down, and that's what leads to the Rock from returning to WW Like.
43:15
I just feel like that would be another compelling layer to It's it's intriguing.
43:19
It's really intriguing stuff. You don't know where things go. I said it
43:22
before and I'll say it again. I find Jay was to be the most
43:23
compelling wrestling character in all of the profession right now, and that's extremely crazy
43:30
because he's just a tag team star who is slowly but surely starting to break
43:34
out and went from a guy that's like, man, I can't believe he's
43:37
feuding with Roman, He's in a w championship match, Like, what is
43:39
this all about too legitimately being someone I could see as a main eventor going
43:45
forward. So props to everybody involved with the bloodline because that storyline has been
43:49
awesome and I cannot wait for Friday SmackDown to check out what is that decision
43:54
this upcoming Friday. With that said, let's get a couple of plugs and
