Bend Whitewater Park Gets Major Upgrade | Bend News
The Bend Whitewater Park is getting a $15.3 million makeover — its biggest upgrade since opening in 2015 — to tackle safety, erosion, and outdated water gates while boosting experiences for surfers, tubers, and kayakers. Inspired by last summer’s study, the project includes rebuilding waves, fixing dangerous spots, and improving fish passage — with even basic fixes costing $5–$9 million. Plans also extend to McKay Park downstream, aiming to future-proof the river for changing flows by 2029 and restore natural habitats along the Deschutes.
