- 1:02What's up, race fans? And welcome to the Monday Night
- 1:04Rewind presented by Federated Auto Parts and Elh detailing
- 1:08live on top of Racing Media, your weekly interview show for
- 1:12the people, for everybody in Michiana Motorsports tonight,
- 1:16another great guest lineup right off a great performance at the
- 1:20Kalamazoo Clash. At 7:05, we have the 87 of Chloe
- 1:23Mazigotti joining us on the Monday Night Rewind.
- 1:26Following her will be recently crowned new Paris Speedway St.
- 1:29Stock Champion Haley Bowl at 7:40 PM.
- 1:32And at 8:05 PM or 8:10 PM, excuse me, it'll be Kyle
- 1:36Trinkline. And I'm going to be learning a
- 1:37lot about Kyle Trinkline tonight.
- 1:39So yeah, excited for our lineup. Another stacked one.
- 1:42Once again, I'm joined as always by Louis Noakes.
- 1:45How are we doing tonight, Louis? Catching up on a lot, but we're
- 1:50pushing through. So it's a Monday, it's time to
- 1:52rewind, right. So it was a a long weekend, 4
- 1:59out of the five days at racetrack doing something.
- 2:01So Sabrina BB2, I want to give a big shout out to Sabrina.
- 2:05She's a you know, she's a hard worker.
- 2:08She's really dedicated at Kalamazoo.
- 2:11She has to manage a lot at one time.
- 2:14You know, she's the she's kind of turned into the photographer.
- 2:17Kalamazoo doesn't have an official track photographer, but
- 2:20there are many nights if it weren't for her, there would be
- 2:22no photos. So, you know, she does the
- 2:25photos, but what she was originally there for is to help
- 2:27with on boards. That's what she really came to
- 2:29Kalamazoo this year to help with And so she's taking that on and
- 2:33as being a rock star with that doesn't, you know, doesn't miss
- 2:36a whole lot. And then she's of course the
- 2:38photographer Galesburg. So I know they had their
- 2:41championship on Saturday and then she was back with and she's
- 2:45at Corrigan with me on Friday and and then she was at back at
- 2:49the mini wedges for Kalamazoo on Sunday.
- 2:51So she too had a four out of five days.
- 2:55And so I know she has a lot going on.
- 2:57So that's where she's getting ready to move.
- 3:00So that's where I definitely thank her and we'll be back at
- 3:04it again on Friday. We got season championship at
- 3:06Kalamazoo. Couple are still up for grabs
- 3:09and then they'll have night destruction at Galesburg.
- 3:13New Paris will have the Sizzler and then we'll both be back at
- 3:17Corgan on Sunday. So for the harvest.
- 3:20So it just keeps on grinding, right?
- 3:24It's that time of the year. It it is very much crunch time
- 3:26in racing season now. It's all all big shows, all the
- 3:29stuff's wrapping up and it's all this is where it all comes
- 3:32together. So yeah, it's it kind of piles
- 3:34up here at the end of the season for you, doesn't it?
- 3:36Yeah, but how was your weekend though?
- 3:37Like how are you doing? It was pretty good.
- 3:39I had a blast at M40 this weekend.
- 3:40It was a a top of racing media driver Evan Verdine run up to
- 3:45the M40 Speedway for the first time.
- 3:47So I rode up there with him and and his St.
- 3:50Stock team there and we had a blast.
- 3:51I mean he it's a tricky little track up there at M40.
- 3:54So it it took him the whole day kind of get it figured out.
- 3:56But you could tell at the end of the feature he started reeling
- 3:58some cars back in and he had fun.
- 4:00So that's what counts. First time on American racers
- 4:02and first time at M40. So it was definitely a challenge
- 4:05for my driver. Like I said, it was a fun day.
- 4:07M40 had seven classes, 99 cars. They were honest about 99 and it
- 4:14was done by 10 PMI think that's unbelievably impressive.
- 4:18No plus 20. No, no plus 20s.
- 4:22Well, but it's also on my race pass, which is transparency.
- 4:24With 40, you're right. You're right there.
- 4:26So you can't really lie if you're on my race pass so.
- 4:29But yeah, like, like I said, seven classes, 99 cars, and I
- 4:32think the last checkered flag flew at 9:59 PM exactly.
- 4:35So wow #40 on that. Yeah, can't.
- 4:39I mean, again, 99 cars and it isn't, isn't that their second
- 4:44highest this year because I think they eclipsed 1. 100,
- 4:46yeah, they did get over 101 time this year.
- 4:48I'm not. Yeah.
- 4:49I assume this is the second most, then yes?
- 4:51I'm just trying to figure out as you talk about them like so
- 4:54where did they park them because.
- 4:58It was because they use that strip, because the vintage
- 5:01modifieds were there and they use that strip going towards the
- 5:04concession stand for the traveling series usually.
- 5:06It didn't really feel like it was extra packed in there or
- 5:08anything. I mean, it was, it was pretty
- 5:10comfortable. Yeah, because I've always what
- 5:13was it a few weeks ago when someone said 100?
- 5:16I think Johnny made an like a one of his videos where he
- 5:19talked about, hey, we're just trying to figure out where we're
- 5:22parking them and, you know, let us know if you're not there
- 5:24because we're definitely getting you guys in.
- 5:26So again, how incredible though. I mean, just think about M40 and
- 5:29we have, I know Chloe's getting set up in the staging area.
- 5:32So that's why I haven't brought her on yet because I her camera
- 5:34was sideways at first. So we got Chloe was kind of like
- 5:37sideways. She's still sideways and it's
- 5:41it's not there. She's good now, but I like.
- 5:45Well, it kind of. Be like this, like, don't mind
- 5:49us, Chloe. We just got a little neck kink.
- 5:50We're just, you know, but you know, I know I believe she's
- 5:54done M40 and so we'll talk with her about that.
- 5:57I know you know, with M40, right?
- 5:59It's always not that long ago that it was on its door, you
- 6:04know, deathbed, right? I mean literally.
- 6:06Healthy as ever right now, so. They just to think of what the
- 6:11Russells have done with that, right, And sometimes the grain,
- 6:14right, sometimes they bought the grain of what everyone else is
- 6:18doing, but they're succeeding with it.
- 6:20And that's what I was kind of thinking there.
- 6:21Saturday is like, you can say what you want about the path
- 6:24that they've taken to do what they're doing, but it really
- 6:27does feel like it's a pretty family atmosphere when you're
- 6:29there. It kind of feels like
- 6:31everybody's getting along. I mean, obviously you have your
- 6:33moments. There's, there's always moments,
- 6:35but it does feel like there's a little bit different feeling at
- 6:37M40 than at other places to me personally.
- 6:40And I'm not, that's not a shot at anybody else, but they, they
- 6:42have something very unique and special to them going on up
- 6:44there and it's working so. Well, and it's, and that's where
- 6:47you just go just again, I know it's against the grain
- 6:51sometimes, but it's like just keep doing what you're doing
- 6:53because you must be doing something right.
- 6:55You're selling tickets, you're you're packing in cars, you
- 6:58know, like it may not be the way this track does it or this track
- 7:04is doing it, but if you have metrics that shows that what
- 7:09you're doing, I mean, finances are always finances.
- 7:12And we obviously don't have those kind of metrics And we
- 7:14that's not our our, not our business, you know, but there's
- 7:18a lot of, you know, there's a lot of tracks in that same boat
- 7:20where, you know, finances may suggest a different metric.
- 7:22But if you can look at your stands and see fans and you can
- 7:26see that they look happy ish, you know, like they may not love
- 7:30everything, but but you know, if you kind of got those things
- 7:35going in your in your direction, I mean, you must be doing
- 7:38something. So I know I'm excited.
- 7:41We had a a nice crowd. You know, obviously it wasn't
- 7:44full, but we had a nice crowd at New Paris on on Saturday for the
- 7:48season championship night. Ray Roberts brought in like Ken
- 7:52folk from literally all over the country, someone they drove up
- 7:55from Kentucky places so. They were coming out of the
- 7:57hills for Ray on. Saturday, so that was exciting.
- 8:01At the Kalamazoo Clash, it was absolutely packed.
- 8:03It looked like a night of destruction crowd.
- 8:07I think there's close to 4000 people there.
- 8:09I was told that that's not the number that was there, but I'm
- 8:12like, I don't know. It looked really full to me.
- 8:14So I. Motor math back to that plus 20.
- 8:17Yeah, yeah, well, yeah, well, this sounds like subtraction to
- 8:20me, but but it's 4000. I ish 3 to 4000 was there
- 8:25packed. Chloe once again I think had the
- 8:27loudest ovation out of everybody.
- 8:29And so we'll talk a little bit about that 'cause that has to
- 8:32feel good too. When you go around the country,
- 8:34you know, racing, doing different things to have a, you
- 8:36know, just your name said and all of a sudden you got a whole
- 8:40crowd roaring behind you because that has to get the, the blood
- 8:42flowing. So, so big crowd.
- 8:45And obviously Summer Sizzler, she will be there.
- 8:48If I recall, she's on the list for Reveal Hammer.
- 8:50We can confirm with her. So I'm excited to see what that
- 8:53crowd looks like because we're at 23 Outlaws right now for
- 8:56that, plus we have the limited light models going.
- 8:59I think for 2000 to win that number may change.
- 9:03The sponsor was getting in on that and then we'll have the
- 9:06Modifieds race two of three. So if you're ready, we can bring
- 9:09on Chloe and talk all about it, from not only Clash to Sizzler
- 9:13and everything before and after. Absolutely.
- 9:16I'm excited. All right, so let's go ahead and
- 9:18let's bring on again. Awesome run at at Kalamazoo.
- 9:23Thanks to fast lane images Chelsea Landis for providing the
- 9:26image we have Chloe Mazagotti. So Chloe, welcome to the Monday
- 9:30night rewind. It's your debut on our on our
- 9:34platform. So I definitely appreciate you
- 9:36joining us tonight, especially after a long weekend.
- 9:38I know you're at Owosso late. Oh yeah, it was.
- 9:42It was a long night. So and again and, and a long
- 9:47night for you too at Kalamazoo, maybe not so much because of
- 9:49rain, but I know you guys were still there well after I left
- 9:53and you were still there out in the parking lot area and
- 9:56everything. So I'm traveling all over to
- 9:58race and all that. So I again, I appreciate you
- 10:01coming on tonight to join us. And so we call this a shoot
- 10:05first aim second show. It's kind of like sitting in a
- 10:08pit area just, you know, shooting the breeze.
- 10:10So I always start with the softball question because some
- 10:13people watching may not know you, like what your face is,
- 10:17right? They may know your car, which by
- 10:19the way, booze you if you've not seen her car.
- 10:22Oh yeah. It's amazing that we have.
- 10:25The same taste and. Colors nobody see it sit right
- 10:28over. There, Yeah, the eagle was I I
- 10:32walked by, I think I was alive and went oh, look at that.
- 10:35And so I have to start with the softball question of who's Chloe
- 10:39Mazzagatti? Just so that for those who know,
- 10:41you will probably be like, OK, we know this.
- 10:43But for those who don't know, you will be like, oh, that's who
- 10:45she is. Or, hey, that's what she looks
- 10:47like. Yeah, I'm Chloe Mazzagatti,
- 10:50driver of the number 87 Super Outlaw late model and Prolate
- 10:53model. The pro cars pink and blue right
- 10:56now and usually all my cars have pink on them but right now my
- 10:59Outlaw is red, white and blue with the eagle down the side of
- 11:01it. So what?
- 11:03What goes into your schemes? Because you just said you
- 11:06usually have these colors. So what do the colors mean to
- 11:08you? Pink, just, I don't know,
- 11:11there's always like fluorescent pink neon colors.
- 11:14We decided it was Big 250 this year, 4th of July.
- 11:17Berlin was a big race. It was on the 4th of July.
- 11:20So we decided to go red, white and blue.
- 11:21And I liked it so much we just kept it.
- 11:23So now we'll probably keep it for Labor Day and who knows,
- 11:26maybe the whole year. Yeah, it's a sharp again, if you
- 11:30the picture I took does not do it any close to justice.
- 11:33If you get you got to see that in person, which August 29th at
- 11:37the new Paris Streetway is a great place to see it in person.
- 11:39But again, you ran the clash for the second time Chloe.
- 11:44So what was it like? You know, last year's your first
- 11:47time at Kalamazoo Racing getting that.
- 11:49So if you want to take us back even in a year ago, your first
- 11:52time at Kalamazoo, then coming back your second year to, I
- 11:54mean, a fourth place finish and a very stout lame out.
- 11:58I mean many champions. Terry Seneker junior came out of
- 12:02I don't know if he was like retired, but he's been out of
- 12:04the racing for a little bit, came out of and got his sixth
- 12:07record win. Of course, I know Steve Needles
- 12:10has been mentoring you a lot this year.
- 12:12I actually went to school with Steve Needles high school
- 12:14together. So if you want to talk a little
- 12:16bit about your journey with Kalamazoo between your first
- 12:19time and your second time and and what it takes to be
- 12:21successful at a place like Kalamazoo.
- 12:24Oh yeah, so my first time there is I immediately fell in love
- 12:27with the place. I don't know what it is about
- 12:29these different tracks. Kalamazoo in Berlin I've always
- 12:32loved. You know, we had a top ten car
- 12:36at the first time around Kalamazoo back in 2025 and I was
- 12:41the youngest person ever start the race and the only females.
- 12:43That was pretty cool and we we had a good run in the race.
- 12:48We had some wiring problems, had to pit.
- 12:50We were at the front end off, had to pit, but we still ended
- 12:52up I think top 10. So that was pretty cool.
- 12:55And then this time come around, I was excited just to be back.
- 12:59It was my first time back since the Clash last year.
- 13:01So we went out there and gave it our all in practice.
- 13:05Just wasn't super fast. We never put on tires or
- 13:09anything. Just kind of went out there and
- 13:11got me used to the track again and we ended up tied for 10th
- 13:15and qualifying and then all of a sudden took off in the race.
- 13:18Like track became cool and I don't know, just came alive in
- 13:23the race. Well, and you put on, I mean,
- 13:27just watching you move up, it was like there's a couple times
- 13:31I panned over because I'm like, where'd she come from?
- 13:33You know, like you were you all of a sudden were there?
- 13:36And so again, that was impressive to watch because I
- 13:38know it's a a lengthy race. You know, it's definitely you
- 13:42guys were on the track for a while. 2 I mean, two cautions
- 13:46were 14 minutes total themselves, you know, between
- 13:48the two. So that's that starts going.
- 13:50So you know, what does it take for 125 laps?
- 13:53Like what do you tell yourself that this isn't a 20 lap race or
- 13:57a 30 lap race or a 40 lap, this is 125 laps that you're going.
- 14:01So how do you how do you keep yourself calm, cool and
- 14:04collected in a race like that? Oh, you know, I, I sit there and
- 14:07I prayed the whole time, especially without having a spot
- 14:10or anything. It gets real quiet in the car,
- 14:12so you almost got to talk to yourself.
- 14:14You just want to keep the wheels under it and be there at the
- 14:17end. You know, sometimes it's half
- 14:19the battle is just trying to be there at the end and have a car
- 14:22at the end, which I noticed a lot of people started off real
- 14:24strong and then started to fall off and I just was getting
- 14:28started. So you know, we ended up 4th and
- 14:30that it just it, it wasn't a win, but it was a win for us.
- 14:33After a lot of top 10s this year, the top five just felt
- 14:36amazing, especially at the Clash.
- 14:39Do you prefer a longer do a longer race or shorter race or?
- 14:43Well. All my races this year have been
- 14:45100 plus laps, 200 Owasso and stuff.
- 14:48I do like the longer races because I get better in the long
- 14:51run. Oh, OK.
- 14:53Well, so then for so Owasso this past Saturday, I know you guys
- 14:57worked through rain delays, you worked through all these
- 14:59different things. I think someone said features
- 15:01finally took the track around 10 or something like that.
- 15:04So you've talked about Berlin, so you want to talk a little bit
- 15:07about for those who maybe don't know, you're from the Ohio area,
- 15:11you know where you got your start racing.
- 15:13And then how have you been been able to take those lessons early
- 15:16to apply to a place like Berlin where a lot of people are like,
- 15:18man, that's just like nowhere else that I raised.
- 15:21And of course, Owosso the the newest looking facility around.
- 15:26Yeah, so I started off in band Valero and Legend cars, which
- 15:30little things, and we hopped in the late motto just to test back
- 15:34when I was 13 last year. And dad, my dad just said go out
- 15:38there, we're going to make laps. You don't need to be fast or
- 15:41anything. Just get used to the car.
- 15:43My second time out, you know, we were top of the charts and my
- 15:47dad's like, you want to race Saturday?
- 15:48I'm like sure, let's do it. So they qualified P1.
- 15:54This is at Norton Raceway Park, formerly Barberton Speedway,
- 15:57qualified P1. We started scratching the race
- 16:00just to, they thought I was just going to drive around and keep
- 16:03logging laps and I ended up in the hunt P2 and we're passing
- 16:07for the lead on the last lap. So that was pretty cool.
- 16:09And then going on from that, we went to Midville Speedway and
- 16:14ended up winning the week after. So in Midville is a little bit
- 16:17bigger, a little bit faster than Barberton.
- 16:19So, you know, there's a lot more cars.
- 16:22I think there's 18 cars. So it really just took off from
- 16:25there. And then having Steve at Berlin,
- 16:27who's raced there, I don't even know how many times.
- 16:31You know, he taught me and helped me a lot.
- 16:33I went out there and I was kind of like, whoa, what, what is
- 16:37this all about? And then I ended up by the end
- 16:40of the race, I was like, I wish I could race here locally.
- 16:44Yeah, it's, I mean, we've had Matt Kent Bond, we've had a
- 16:47couple who Berlin. They're like, once you figure it
- 16:49out, you love it. But sometimes you got to figure
- 16:53it out to love it and that, you know, what was it coming out of
- 16:56Turn 3? Like you got to hit your mark in
- 16:58three or four. It's one of them that, yeah,
- 16:59there's a yellow line, but you don't use the yellow line.
- 17:02You're like against the wall. Yeah, you just got a diamond.
- 17:05It it's it's funky, but I've always liked the weirder tracks.
- 17:11Now you go from a place like Berlin, Kalamazoo, Owasso, you
- 17:15know, 3/8 and bigger to now the bull ring of Amish country, as I
- 17:20call it. And each time and some people
- 17:23argue on the Amish and literally we had three Amish go by on
- 17:25Saturday. I'm like, there you go.
- 17:27That's all I need. I just need one Amish a day to
- 17:29go by and I'm already right. So anyways, obviously new pair
- 17:32of speedways where you'll be with reveal the hammer this
- 17:35Saturday. So then how do you and 100 laps,
- 17:39right? So another 100 lap race for you.
- 17:41But how does how do you go from there at Owosso and everything
- 17:44to now a Bull Ring quarter mile, a lot of cars on the track at
- 17:49one time, How do you manage all that?
- 17:51It's it's definitely a lot. I've always been real good at
- 17:55adapting for some reason. That's something I've always
- 17:57been good at is I could hop in the pro late and go run at
- 18:00Owosso and then hop in the Outlaw and go run at M40.
- 18:04You know, I've always been real good at that.
- 18:06So you really, especially having no spotters again, Owosso, we
- 18:11had spotters this time we're not.
- 18:13So it's really you just got to, you almost got to train yourself
- 18:16to be able to go back and forth. What, what do you remember from
- 18:20New Paris last year? Because didn't you race last
- 18:22year too at New Paris? So what do you remember last
- 18:25year that are some lessons you want to take into this year?
- 18:28Because a lot of people talk about one and two turn 1 and 2,
- 18:31like that's, that's a spot. But then we had someone on a few
- 18:34weeks ago like, well, three and four are a little difficult.
- 18:36And I'm like that most people don't say that, not that they're
- 18:39wrong, but 1 and 2 is like where a lot of the action happens.
- 18:43So what are some lessons that you remember from last year at
- 18:45New Pairs that you'll be bringing this year with you?
- 18:47Of course, you don't have to give all your secrets away.
- 18:51There was a lot less cars last year.
- 18:53It wasn't revealed at him or anything, so I think I don't
- 18:57even know where we ended up in that 6th on.
- 19:00But yeah, 1 and 2 is definitely really tricky.
- 19:02You almost, you think it looks like you can drive it in way
- 19:05deep, get on the brakes and make the corner.
- 19:07You almost got a lift at the flag stand and it's kind of like
- 19:11almost messes with you. You want to be able to drive it
- 19:13in like that and you can't. So that's the only thing I
- 19:17really remember. I've raced so many different
- 19:18tracks since then, but I was pretty good there for that was
- 19:22my first time ever outside of Ohio racing.
- 19:25So in the big car I raced, it barbered in a Midville before
- 19:29that and then going to New Paris.
- 19:30It was, it was a little bit tricky, but I think we'll be, I
- 19:33think we'll be real good this year.
- 19:37Buju. What else?
- 19:38So a couple drives you get linked to because you're also in
- 19:42such close proximity in age as Bryce Bozell and Mason Metzger,
- 19:46and it seems like you guys have a good relationship with each
- 19:48other. But I'm curious if you guys
- 19:50being so linked so close gives you a little bit extra drive
- 19:53when you're racing those two to maybe come out ahead?
- 19:57Yeah, I know. I haven't talked to them in a
- 19:58while. Yeah, but.
- 20:01When I'm out there with people I know I'm always looking for them
- 20:04and seeing how they're doing and stuff.
- 20:06Like when I seen Bryce, he got into an incident at in turn 3:00
- 20:10and 4:00 and I just prayed that he was OK.
- 20:12And you know, seeing Terry Seneker up front and then seeing
- 20:16Terry or Steve needles in front of me, then going on to pass
- 20:18him, it was super cool. Even though he was having car
- 20:21issues, I still count to pass. But just being out there with
- 20:24them, super cool. Especially with Andy and Phil
- 20:27and and Terry, like it's just super cool being out there with
- 20:31them. Who do you like racing against?
- 20:34Like when you like if you had a maybe not a rival per SE, but
- 20:38like who, when you're on the track, brings out the best in
- 20:41Chloe. Really anyone you know, I my
- 20:47favorite to race with this thief because the past two races I've
- 20:50gotten to and that's just super cool for me.
- 20:52He's been my crew chief. Even when he's racing, he's
- 20:56still crew chiefs me and he'll even though he's all the way up
- 20:59in Michigan, he'll go to Florida, race with us,
- 21:01Nashville, all my CRA races he's at.
- 21:04So it's really cool working with him and then being on the track
- 21:07with him. And beating him too.
- 21:11Yeah, yeah, We were passing him when the caution came out of
- 21:14Owosso I was having all kinds of radio issues and I didn't have a
- 21:18spotter for that whole time. So it's pretty nerve wracking.
- 21:20The first 50 laps of the Owosso race and we were pushing on and
- 21:25pushing on him. I finally got to his inside and
- 21:27then caution came out. I was like, gosh darn it, I
- 21:30really wanted to pass him for the second race in a row, but we
- 21:34were close. Do you know if he's racing New
- 21:38Paris Saturday? No, he won't.
- 21:39He'll be. He'll be there crew chiefing me.
- 21:41Though, Yep, well, that's probably a short drive for him
- 21:44compared to the other tracks that we go to because he's, I
- 21:47mean, he's literally down the road from me.
- 21:48So wait. Yep.
- 21:50That way, he's down the road that way.
- 21:53And so that's where you know, that's that's it's always nice
- 21:58when we're local, right, because it's the, you know, some of the
- 22:00drives that you make. And so what's the what's your
- 22:03favorite race that you've ever done that just really stands out
- 22:06to you where you're like, Dang, like everything came together
- 22:10the best way possible. Or even it doesn't even have to
- 22:13all come together. Could be just like that was fun,
- 22:16you know, just even if it was like, hey, I hit the wall, but I
- 22:20saw the great time, like whatever it may be.
- 22:22What's the race that stands out to you?
- 22:25Yeah, my second time ever hopping in a late model.
- 22:28We're going to head the Norton Raceway Park and it rained out
- 22:31so we ended up going to Midville, started 8th and ended
- 22:36up in the hunt for the lead. And there's a lot of good
- 22:38drivers there, even like Brandon Short who not racing at Owosso
- 22:40and stuff, Gary Whitkey, a lot of old main event drivers and
- 22:44stuff. And we went up there for the
- 22:46first time in the car and we're on old tires, went out there and
- 22:49won the race and that was super cool being my second ever start
- 22:52against 18 drivers. So that was really cool.
- 22:56And then the Clash, obviously that was just that was really
- 23:00cool for me. It wasn't a win, but like I
- 23:02said, in our eyes, I was a win. On the flip side of that, how
- 23:06about one race you, If you could have it back and change one
- 23:09thing or change something, maybe, maybe it comes out a
- 23:11little better for you. If you could have one race back,
- 23:13what would it be? Probably the first when we went
- 23:20to speed weeks in New Smyrna, we just got that brand new Pro Late
- 23:23models, got dropped off at the track and we're running good and
- 23:28next thing you know we're backed into the wall and need a rear
- 23:30clip first night, so probably that one.
- 23:34We pitted and we had to go to the tail, so we were back there
- 23:37with some. It got pretty messy back there,
- 23:40so that's how it happened. So if I could take it back, we
- 23:43wanted a pit and everything should have been fine.
- 23:47Does something like that shake your confidence?
- 23:48Is that something that's hard to overcome when something like
- 23:50that happens? It was that 1 was definitely
- 23:53frustrating having to go into our backup car, which wasn't
- 23:56ready to get out. I mean, we had all kinds of
- 23:58issues with that car. We did a motor swap on Friday.
- 24:02It was, it was a mess. So, you know, it definitely was
- 24:06a long two weeks and frustrated me for the rest of the weeks,
- 24:10but now cars back together and we're running great in it, so I
- 24:16can't complain. So where all do you erase the
- 24:19Pro Late like I remember on your page because I started following
- 24:23you last year on your page and obviously have since then where
- 24:27I remember you debuting in the Pro late.
- 24:29But where are places that you've raced it, or where are places
- 24:32that you want to race it and plan to go and travel around?
- 24:35Yeah, so in the pro late I'm running the CRA turn 1 Series
- 24:40right now. We'll, we'll run speed weeks and
- 24:42stuff again, but right now, like I ran Owosso two times in that
- 24:49car. Birch Run all kinds of places.
- 24:55One I'm excited for at the end of the year is All America 400.
- 24:58We went there last year and made 13 laps.
- 25:00We got no practice. We're having all kinds of
- 25:02mechanical issues. That's our backup car again, so
- 25:05we shouldn't have to get that one out this time.
- 25:07And I'm excited for that race. So I'm getting to learn and try
- 25:11out a lot of tracks this year and it's been awesome, like M40
- 25:15and Ken Ross up in the UP and all over the place.
- 25:21What's 1? What's 1?
- 25:22That's still what's still on the list that you want to check off.
- 25:27Or a few maybe. I'm not trying to lay me at A1.
- 25:30Cool on the pro late. I'm excited to try Berlin in it.
- 25:33I know I've been there in the Outlaw Winchester, that one,
- 25:36that one's going to be pretty cool.
- 25:38My dad ain't very happy for that one though.
- 25:39But. That's what I say.
- 25:41You're great. You're brave.
- 25:41That I am Chloe. I've never been there, so I've
- 25:45never never even been there to watch a race, so I'm pretty
- 25:48excited for that one. Well, Buju, I thought you're
- 25:52that was like the perfect segue. Her question or her answer to to
- 25:55like you usually ask what's your favorite racetrack?
- 25:57So I thought that's where you're going.
- 25:58Then you swerved a little bit on me, so I'm going to steal it
- 26:02then, unless you want to take it back.
- 26:04No, take it, that's all you. I'm knocking my laptop over now.
- 26:08So while he deals with like Titanic issues over there, we're
- 26:11sinking shit. But but Chloe, what's a track
- 26:14that obviously you're talk about all these places you go.
- 26:17What's one that really stands out to you, where you just look
- 26:19forward to it, or to your favorite to watch or race at, or
- 26:23both? Berlin, I, I don't know what it
- 26:26is about that place. There's such good racing there
- 26:29to be able to run side by side. I ran side by side with Phil
- 26:32there for I don't even know how many laps now.
- 26:34Some really good racing that was really cool to do, especially
- 26:37with him winning there last year.
- 26:40So it was really cool to do that.
- 26:41And of course, Nashville, those two tracks always stood out to
- 26:45me. Both beautiful facilities.
- 26:47I don't know what it is about them, just love them.
- 26:51Now someone on here so Ryman Castle is saying it's a weapon
- 26:55on I Racing, so what's all that about?
- 26:59Me and him do I race a lot? I haven't even been on I racing
- 27:02since racing season started. So but no, we we do have a lot
- 27:07of fun on eye racing. He's the weapon, though.
- 27:09I we we usually I think me and his go to are super late models
- 27:15at 5 flags. So it it's a lot of fun on
- 27:19there. We'll get Jaden Kotashi.
- 27:21I don't know how you say his last name to him on there.
- 27:23Yep, Yep, I was close. We'll get him on there and all
- 27:26kinds of people. So it's a lot of fun during the
- 27:28offseason. Yeah, Chloe smoked me and I
- 27:31racing before as well. Equal opportunity provider.
- 27:35That's what I'm hearing. She's an equal opportunity
- 27:38provider. Now, is there anyone who you've
- 27:41raced and I racing who you've then had a chance to, you know,
- 27:45to go out and race in the big cars where you're like I beat
- 27:47you and I racing and I beat you in real life too?
- 27:50Yeah, me and Jayden, I never got to race them before.
- 27:55Well, I raced him at Berlin and then at Owosso this year.
- 27:57The one time he did race and he did beat me by I think one or
- 28:01two positions, but me and him did battle for a few laps.
- 28:04That was pretty cool. From I Racing.
- 28:06The real life I can't. I've raised Bryce Mason on I
- 28:10Racing, that's there's quite a few people but I can't think of
- 28:15the rest. Why?
- 28:17Because someone, I saw a post where someone was talking about
- 28:20out in Ohio or Pennsylvania somewhere where they're like
- 28:25they were naming the names for like, I've raced against these
- 28:27guys on I racing for five years and finally had a chance to race
- 28:30with them in person at a racetrack.
- 28:32Like they were all in one spot at one time for the first time
- 28:36after like five years. And so they were.
- 28:37So I, I figured I'd ask because that's kind of in a topic where
- 28:40people are like, I'm finally meeting people who I've seen and
- 28:43I racing or race and I racing where now I can race against
- 28:45them in person too. So so I thought that's pretty
- 28:48cool because I racing is a way to bring a lot of people
- 28:50together from, you know, around, you know, everywhere, right.
- 28:53So you may not always get a chance to race against people
- 28:56like that. But I know as we're hitting the
- 28:59the home stretch here, of course, to get to all these
- 29:02places, you need a big support group.
- 29:04Who all is? Who's behind you?
- 29:07And from the stands, there's a lot of fans that are also behind
- 29:10you, but like sponsors, marketing partners, whatever you
- 29:13want to call them, plus family and everything else.
- 29:14Like who's all behind Chloe, Mazi, Gotti getting you to the
- 29:17racetrack all the time. Oh yeah, my family for them
- 29:21putting up with me every weekend.
- 29:23It's been, it's been a lot. We're we're on the road all the
- 29:27time, like going from Owasso to Kalamazoo to Owasso.
- 29:30Now we're going to New Paris. And then who knows after that we
- 29:33got to go one week at a time. But you know, my dad, he drives
- 29:36the big rig there and my mom follows in her truck.
- 29:39So once we get there, we can get back and forth to the hotel and
- 29:41to eat and stuff. And my little brother, he, he
- 29:46tries to be a part of the pit crew.
- 29:47He's a big help out in the shop and stuff.
- 29:49And John Pritchett, he comes out and helps.
- 29:52We're out there in the shop right now.
- 29:53We're helping a buddy with the street stock.
- 29:55And you know, Steve Needles, once we get to the track, it's,
- 29:58it's hard because he lives in Michigan.
- 30:00We want him to move to Ohio, but we'd love to have him here.
- 30:04But you know, once we get there and we take our cars up there,
- 30:08just he's a great guy. Him and his dad, Doug, they've
- 30:11both taught me and showed me so much and both gave me hot rods.
- 30:16You know it. It shows too.
- 30:19And then I know Brandon, he's he's always busy.
- 30:23I don't know when Brandon sleeps either, but I know you had
- 30:25Brandon Hollis the other day. He.
- 30:26Was Brandon Hollis and Justin Hart?
- 30:28Yep. Brandon, yeah.
- 30:30He's like he's going to be at Owosso for the the big ASA race.
- 30:34Is it Wednesday? Tuesday, Wednesday.
- 30:37I think it's just Wednesday. OK, yeah, he'll be there doing
- 30:41tires. You know, he never stops.
- 30:43He's go, go, go. And he's he's tires are a big
- 30:46deal in these cars. So he's always gave me a good
- 30:48car too. And then we got my spotter,
- 30:50Justin Hart. He's there at all the races and
- 30:53when there is spotters and even when there ain't spotters, he's
- 30:56always there hoping. So we got a, we got a really
- 30:58good crew put together. Now for those who may be
- 31:01wondering, because there's a lot of drivers who've never had a
- 31:04spotter before, but obviously some for some big races, you see
- 31:07them a lot in the stands, like even CRA last year we had.
- 31:10So if you want to talk a little bit about, you know, obviously
- 31:12in NASCAR we know the spotter's role and what they do and that
- 31:15kind of deal. So do you want to give people a
- 31:17little bit of an idea for you in a short track racing, seeing
- 31:19like how a spotter can help you or some of the different things
- 31:22that a spotter can coach you through as you're on the track?
- 31:26Yeah, they're they're definitely busy.
- 31:28I don't, I'd love to try to spot people when I'm not racing, but
- 31:31I don't think I could do it. You got to like you got to stick
- 31:35with your decision. You know, I'd be like, oh, they
- 31:37look like they're going to go. Oh, they're not.
- 31:39You know, I'd I'd get somebody killed out there.
- 31:44But but you know, they're they keep you safe out there.
- 31:49You know when they're there, they tell them all right,
- 31:52they're looking, they're looking, they're there.
- 31:54They're you're clear. You know, they're rolling the
- 31:56outside, they're the leaders are coming.
- 31:58You know, they they provide a lot of information for you.
- 32:02Even on the choose cone, if you choose inside or outside,
- 32:04they'll count the rows out for you.
- 32:06It's their job is a lot busier than I feel NASCAR in my
- 32:11opinion. They got a lot more stuff to
- 32:13keep track of in NASCAR, but on track wise, they're definitely
- 32:18busy keeping you safe out there. So it's happening a lot faster
- 32:22and what you're doing. Yeah.
- 32:25Yeah, again, that's where I know that 4th place finished at
- 32:29Kalamazoo was just incredible to watch and I I'm excited to see
- 32:33you again. I, you know, instead of watching
- 32:35you just once this year, I get to watch your new pair.
- 32:37So I'm excited to see what you do down at that, you know,
- 32:40quarter mile Bullring because, you know, without lay models, we
- 32:44race them once a year at New Paris and this is it.
- 32:47And it's a 25th annual too. So it's, you know, it's one of
- 32:50those historic races that some of the names that you raced
- 32:52against or competed with at Kalamazoo are going to be down
- 32:55there too. And so what's it like been
- 32:58racing for a reveal? And then what's your goals with
- 33:03the Reveal the Hammer Series before we let you go here?
- 33:06Yeah, New Paris, everybody should be pretty equal, I guess.
- 33:09Like you said, with them racing once a year, we nobody's going
- 33:12to be like, oh, I race every weekend and have an advantage on
- 33:15anybody. So there should be some really
- 33:17good racing with how many cars are entered and everything.
- 33:20It's definitely going to be a tight track.
- 33:21But you know, my goal for Reveal the Hammer and CRA right now is
- 33:26Rookie of the Year. We're both currently second in
- 33:28points really close though, so rookie of the year in both and
- 33:33top ten in both. And we're running for Owosso
- 33:36points. And I think, I'm not sure where
- 33:38we're sitting in that after last night, but or Saturday.
- 33:42All my days are running together now.
- 33:44We we got up at 5:00 in the morning to head to Owosso.
- 33:48We looked at the weather, 100% of storms all day.
- 33:50We're like, we're going to go back to bed.
- 33:52You know, they ain't getting it in.
- 33:54We woke up at 8:00 and they said we're getting in no matter what.
- 33:58So by the by 9:00 we're on the road rushing there.
- 34:01We get there 10 before 2 and practice starts at 2:00.
- 34:05We just throw the car out of the trailer, check air pressures and
- 34:07go. So it was really cool to be that
- 34:10fast at Owosso for, especially from the race.
- 34:14We didn't get to qualify on new tires or anything.
- 34:16And after all the rain, the track was actually really good
- 34:18and I want to give a shout out to the track for getting the
- 34:21show win. Yeah, I kept watching the
- 34:23updates because Chris Colby announces or he announces at
- 34:27Corgan. And so we were talking about his
- 34:28busy schedule. I'm like, yeah, I have 4 out of
- 34:30five days where, you know, I I only knew it's Monday because
- 34:34I've been scheduling the Monday night rewind since I talked with
- 34:36you the other day. So I'm like, I know Monday's
- 34:39coming, I just didn't always remember.
- 34:41And you know, like what time is it?
- 34:44There's a sun up or sundown. But but I know, you know,
- 34:47obviously with the drives that you guys are making to get there
- 34:49just in time at Owosso and load off like that, but at least you
- 34:52had some rain delays maybe to just catch your breath a little
- 34:55bit too. So, but kudos to them because
- 34:57that's not easy, you know, to to do that.
- 35:00And I don't know, it probably gets people super frustrated,
- 35:03like, OK, you should have just canceled this because now it's
- 35:05this late, but you know, they got it in, you know, the
- 35:08obviously a big team there and, and the late mile race seemed
- 35:11like it was great too. From I was following along with
- 35:13Chelsea Landis's updates as she was posting different things.
- 35:18So I'm like, oh, hey, they're going.
- 35:20So so again, I know you got you guys are working on a car.
- 35:24You said you're in the shop and everything working.
- 35:26So I definitely don't want to keep you any longer because
- 35:29you're busy and, and maybe at some point you'll see you're on
- 35:32board at some point. I know that they died.
- 35:35I think yours was under the last caution, so we needed like one
- 35:39last caution and we would have had the whole race, but you'll
- 35:43get to see that tonight. I was just getting ready to edit
- 35:45yours. I'm like, oh shoot, now I got to
- 35:46get on so. It was 640.
- 35:48I've been waiting for that. I'm excited.
- 35:51They did have a lot of cautions. I was, I was getting so nervous.
- 35:54And then when they single filed us, I was like, oh boy.
- 35:57Yeah, that's how I can tell where we were in the race is
- 36:01with the cautions, because this camera died after Kyle Krump
- 36:05spun out. So at least I knew where we were
- 36:07within the race. But I was, I was actually
- 36:10shocked. I thought we'd get like 50
- 36:11minutes, but the cameras performed.
- 36:13They just an hour, most of them got anywhere from an hour 30 to
- 36:17hour 36 and and you're thinking, well, that's usually like a full
- 36:20race, not, not quite so so you will see yours.
- 36:25It's common, but I I appreciate you again for allowing me to be
- 36:28in your car and, and ride along with you.
- 36:30So again, you're, you're fun to watch and and you're definitely,
- 36:35I mean you're, you're gonna carry this sport into the future
- 36:37and you're what, 14 now? Or did you just?
- 36:40Just turn 15. I was gonna say, I thought it
- 36:42was just your birthday not too long ago, so just turn 15.
- 36:45So again, booze. You just think of the future of
- 36:46the sport. Yeah, when we have someone like
- 36:49Chloe Mazzagotti who's already a trailblazer and and laying a
- 36:52solid foundation for the future. So keep up what you're doing
- 36:55because one to to compete at the level you're competing at is not
- 36:59easy. You know, people in the
- 37:01grandstand think it's easy sometimes, but obviously, you
- 37:04know, there's a big difference between driving in the
- 37:06grandstand and driving on the track.
- 37:07And so mm hmm, you know, just keep doing what you're doing
- 37:09because you're coming a really long ways.
- 37:11And just in the year to year watching at Kalamazoo, I'm like,
- 37:14if that's what you did in one year, I don't know, may not be
- 37:18too long before maybe you're hoist hoisting that trophy at
- 37:21the Kalamazoo Clash because you were on the move.
- 37:24And I think if we had a 200 lap race, you might have even been
- 37:28right there too 'cause you were gaining on them lap after lap.
- 37:30So again, great run at Kalamazoo and I'm looking forward to
- 37:34seeing you this Saturday at the new Paris Speedway.
- 37:37Yeah. Thank you for having me on.
- 37:38I appreciate you guys. Oh, awesome.
- 37:40Again, thank you Chloe for taking the time tonight.
- 37:43So. But I know you're working, so
- 37:45we'll let you get to work. We'll get that race car ready.
- 37:48Yeah, yeah. Do you ever raise straight
- 37:49sacks? Or do you think you'll ever
- 37:50raise the street sack before we let you go?
- 37:54We had, we owned one, we just sold it a couple years back.
- 37:56We're working on our buddies right now.
- 37:59I mean, I've talked to Josh Way. I was thinking about running the
- 38:02Triad and at Lorraine. And then?
- 38:04But then we figured out we got a Berlin race, I think it is that
- 38:07weekend. So maybe one time you'll cash me
- 38:09in a Street Stock. I mean, I'll drive anything
- 38:11anybody offers me so. I like that.
- 38:15Someone take someone take note on that.
- 38:17We got a lot of people watching right now.
- 38:18We're bringing on after you Haley bowl.
- 38:21She's the first female if from what we know, unless Cindy
- 38:24Streamy did it way back, but she's the first female to win a
- 38:27street sock championship at new parents and she had a roller
- 38:30coaster day that was she between rated air blowing and still
- 38:34coming back out. So, you know, she's her first
- 38:37year in a street stock. So I was just wondering because
- 38:39we just don't have a lot of females in the street stock
- 38:41ranks. But since you said St.
- 38:43Stock, I'm like, would you ever jump into a Street Stock?
- 38:45So if someone's listening to that's a street Stock, you never
- 38:48know. Chloe said she'll race anything,
- 38:50so might just get one ready. But again, thank you so much for
- 38:54joining us tonight. Yeah, keep being the
- 38:56representative of this work. Thank you.
- 38:59Oh yeah, again, we were talking with Chloe Mazzagatti out of
- 39:03Ohio. She just raced at Kalamazoo last
- 39:05Wednesday, raced at Owosso on Saturday, and she will be at the
- 39:09new pair of Speedway for the Summer Scissor 25th edition this
- 39:14coming Saturday with Reveal the Hammer series.
- 39:16So you can come on out and see Chloe Mazzagatti race in her
- 39:20very beautiful 87. If you've not seen it in person,
- 39:24you need to. But someone who just won a
- 39:29championship, and I mean, my heart broke for Haley when her
- 39:34radiator, when I'm like, this is not the way the championship
- 39:37should be decided. And then I just kind of sunk on
- 39:39the roof there. Obviously, I sponsored Charlie
- 39:42Hannah and Sage Hannah, so I'm rooting for them.
- 39:44But you know, I gave a little, I don't know if it helped Haley or
- 39:47not, but I gave her a little bit of a pep talk earlier in the day
- 39:49because watching her has been so fun.
- 39:51And when that radiator, I went, this is not how this should go.
- 39:55And, you know, you leave it on the track and and she definitely
- 40:00did. She came back out after that
- 40:01lengthy a red flag. And so that that was really
- 40:05exciting to see. Kudos to the team for bust and
- 40:08tail to get that done. So let's go ahead and let's
- 40:11bring on the Monteith's tire 2026 new pair Speedway St.
- 40:16Stock track champion and rookie of the year Haley Ball.
- 40:22Haley, welcome to the Monday Night Rewind.
- 40:24Thank you for having me. Oh, I I'm excited, like I said,
- 40:28you know, even though I have two cars obviously who are in the
- 40:31point chase with you, You know, I, I not only did I go and make
- 40:35fun of sage first, that's always one of the first things I do at
- 40:37the track. Make fun of her for a little
- 40:38bit, talk to Charlie, but then I always come over and stop and
- 40:42and have a chat with you and and Rich and you know, that's when
- 40:47that radiator when I'm like, I just, I was so defeated and I'm
- 40:51not even in the car. I'm like, this is not how this
- 40:54should go. This is not how championship
- 40:56gets decided. But you came out and the the
- 40:58championship got decided the way it's supposed to on the
- 41:01racetrack. And so for those who are
- 41:04watching who may not know you because we just had Chloe on,
- 41:07she brings a huge audience to who's Haley Bold?
- 41:10That's always the softball question.
- 41:12Then from there we shoot 1st and aim second.
- 41:14So it's just from there we kind of figure out where we go.
- 41:16But let's always start with who are you?
- 41:20Well, I'm a third generation race car driver, obviously my
- 41:24dad and then my grandpa before me.
- 41:28I just got in a street stock this year and I love it.
- 41:33Other than that, I really like to read books and play with my
- 41:39dog, which if you hear her, I apologize.
- 41:40She's. There somewhere we welcome pets
- 41:43on the show. Yeah, we've had well, what my
- 41:46gizmo, a cat made an appearance. We've had Ron Vrash has had his
- 41:50dogs and the thing. So we're we're not anti animal.
- 41:53And I do apologize if I cough. Ever since they put all that oil
- 41:56dried down at New Paris, I've had a cough.
- 41:58And so I am not appreciative of the oil dried at the moment
- 42:01because I, I'm sure I inhaled well a year's worth of whatever
- 42:06that is. But so if I cough, I apologize.
- 42:09I forgot to say that to Chloe earlier.
- 42:11I'm not coughing because I'm I'm just that oil dry got to me on
- 42:15on on Saturday, which is not your fault, by the way.
- 42:18We heard Buju. She apologized to the safety
- 42:21team. I mean felt bad.
- 42:25Yeah, I I hear you. She, she apologized and I'm
- 42:29like, so no need to apologize for my cough.
- 42:32This is not your responsibility. It happens.
- 42:34I mean go to super shoe and I will catch up with my coughing
- 42:38by then too 'cause there will be more oil dry there than on I
- 42:41think the whole season. But but again, a huge
- 42:44congratulations. I know this year some
- 42:47frustrations too, right? Like you're loving the street
- 42:49stock, but some frustrations because you are so dominant in
- 42:53that Hornet and you did so well in the Hornet.
- 42:55You got so used to getting checkered flags and parking at
- 42:59Victory Lane and it and maybe not it coming easy, but like
- 43:03making it look easy, right? Then you made the jump to the
- 43:05street stock earlier this year and it is different.
- 43:10And so first one, we just start there.
- 43:13What for you because we've had Evan Verdainen who's talked
- 43:16about that. We've had Sage Hannah who's
- 43:17talked a little bit about about it.
- 43:20For you going from a very successful Hornet career to the
- 43:23Street stocks, what is what was the big difference and change
- 43:26for you Not talking about confidence?
- 43:30For when I had to learn how to drive a clutch Still sometimes.
- 43:37Sometimes my dad and Zach have to remind me like just slow down
- 43:40and like, you know, you got to, you have a clutch now.
- 43:44And sometimes I literally just forget and I'll go to take off
- 43:48and it just dies on me. But I'm, you know, first year in
- 43:51and I'm trying not to be. I do get frustrated with it
- 43:54though, because I'm like, come on, like remember that.
- 43:56But other than that, the speed was a big thing which obviously
- 44:03as I got more comfortable and then I picked up time, which was
- 44:06wonderful because I was not happy with my lap times at the
- 44:08beginning of the year. But I won A149 on Saturday, so
- 44:14that's my fastest lap at New Paris yet.
- 44:16So I was pleased with that progression.
- 44:23I guess just being in a bigger car, like it's longer, it's
- 44:26wider, yet the you know, you can't just dive moment in there
- 44:30anymore like you could have worn it.
- 44:33Preferably not. Preferably not, no.
- 44:38And then probably kind of, I don't want to say like I had to
- 44:43relearn the track completely, but you know, you have different
- 44:46left points and different points you can get back on the gas
- 44:50with, you know, like where I'm comfortable out in the car to
- 44:53where I was. So I mean with the Hornet, I
- 44:56don't know that I was off the gas for much more than maybe a
- 45:00second. Where is the street stock?
- 45:02You know, I had to like relearn all that.
- 45:03And it's definitely more than a second probably, I would say.
- 45:09So do you want to talk a little bit about the confidence in two,
- 45:11right? Because that's something that I
- 45:12know and you don't have to if you don't want to.
- 45:14But you know, you had like Buju myself and like hundreds of
- 45:18thousands of people behind you, like, no girl, you're doing it
- 45:21like you're doing so well. But I know for you, right, like
- 45:24that was a big thing. So how do you overcome that to
- 45:27the point that now you can say, hopefully very proudly by the
- 45:32way, after everything you went through on Saturday, I am the
- 45:352026 new Paris Speedway track champion and from what most of
- 45:39us could figure out, the first female, Unless Cindy's tremie
- 45:42did it, or someone who were. Not sure, Chris said.
- 45:45Cindy did. But.
- 45:46Oh, Cindy did Haley's the first rookie to do Oh, first rookie.
- 45:49So I mean clean sweep. I oh, I just see the comment
- 45:52now. My mistake.
- 45:53But although I did say earlier, Cindy might have done it if
- 45:56anyone did do it. But I mean, think about that.
- 45:59Cindy's Tremie Trailblazer Haley Bowl in the same sentence.
- 46:04Track champion at new pairs. What's that like?
- 46:06Especially for that confidence where I know that was a big
- 46:09thing for you to go overcome, where even your dad's, like I
- 46:12keep trying to tell her. I'd get lectures every night.
- 46:17Like get out of your head. I don't even want to know.
- 46:21I don't. I don't even know if I could
- 46:23count how many times I was told in like the last seven days
- 46:26leading up to Saturday last week, how many times I was told
- 46:30by him to just like get out of my head and calm down.
- 46:32And he's like, you're racing one car and like, go out there, run
- 46:35your race. As far as confidence, I'd, I
- 46:40think I still don't know that I have a lot of it in the street
- 46:44side just because I, my, I'm very hard on myself and I like
- 46:48to see like to me, like, even though like I have the
- 46:51championship, I still haven't won the feature in the street
- 46:54sock. So like to me, I'm like, OK,
- 46:56that's, that's you know, that's my next goal.
- 46:59And yeah, I'd say while I'm like more comfortable in the car, I
- 47:05don't know that I have that like confidence level that I used to
- 47:07have like in the Hornet. But I will say the last couple
- 47:11weeks, even with the hardships that have come because my last
- 47:14couple weeks of my season was honestly kind of ridden with bad
- 47:19luck. But even, you know, the last
- 47:21couple weeks, I just, I guess the confidence started coming in
- 47:24terms of competitiveness like what I did gain just because I
- 47:28got more comfortable in the car. I started getting faster lap
- 47:30times. I started qualifying like higher
- 47:32up on the board and I got more comfortable out on the track in
- 47:37the car. So I guess I did gain some, but
- 47:39not to the level that I had it before.
- 47:42It's common, I hope, because again, you're just to watch you
- 47:46this year. And this is one of the things
- 47:48that I love about going to a track weekly.
- 47:51You know, even though I get I get invited to go to all these
- 47:54different places that I could build a schedule where I can go
- 47:57here, go there. I just I love being on a track
- 48:00weekly. I love the routine of it, but I
- 48:02love the connection of it. I love being able to talk with
- 48:05drivers, you know, you know, connect with them, get to know
- 48:08them, get to know their story and watch that growth and
- 48:12watching you your first time out of the street sack to even like
- 48:16roller coaster of emotions on. I mean, like I said, I had I was
- 48:19sad and I'm like, this is not how this should go.
- 48:22And and meanwhile, a car that I do sponsor could have won the
- 48:27championship if you'd stayed in the pit area, right?
- 48:29But it's like, no, this is not how this should go.
- 48:31It needs to be settled on the track, right?
- 48:33So the roller coaster Saturday, even then, like I had a chance
- 48:36to talk with you when I switch in batteries in the Gopros.
- 48:39And you seemed you seemed calm. You're like, I'm thirsty.
- 48:44That's her first time. Like not well, I'm like, I can't
- 48:47help you with that. But you know, but it was one of
- 48:50those things that I think, you know, if you watch video
- 48:53backing, you just see the things that you've been able to do.
- 48:55I mean, it's night and day from where you first started, but you
- 48:58were Dang good out the gate too. So it was one of those things
- 49:01that I I hope that it comes for you because you're, I mean,
- 49:05you're just so good behind the wheel.
- 49:07It's natural. It's part of your bloodline,
- 49:10right? I mean, you've grown up a race,
- 49:12yeah. You've grown up around racing.
- 49:14You've and obviously when you have someone like Rich who has
- 49:18championships he had and multiple tracks, right?
- 49:21I mean, he has those feature ones, He has those things.
- 49:23It's going to come and and just think about that too.
- 49:27Everything that you guys overcame on top of, you know,
- 49:29obviously a lot of people know that he's had some health issues
- 49:32over the last couple weeks in and out of the hospital.
- 49:35Like that has to play in things too, where like, OK, I got to
- 49:38focus. I'm at the racetrack.
- 49:39I am here to race. But how's dad?
- 49:41What's Dad doing? Why is he not sitting all these
- 49:45all these things which we're not going to tell on him in case his
- 49:48doctor's watching. But yeah, I don't think he
- 49:51probably sat much on Saturday like he should have been.
- 49:53But So do you want to talk a little bit about like, you know,
- 49:58your goal was rookie of the year, right?
- 50:01You know, talk a little bit about not only from that
- 50:04confidence, but then, you know, how do you keep yourself
- 50:06grounded, you know, when you have all these other things
- 50:09going on, like what kept you so grounded and in the moment
- 50:12rather than getting ahead of yourself or getting behind
- 50:15yourself? Well, at the beginning of the
- 50:19year it was more so I guess getting race, getting to race
- 50:25with my dad for the first time, because obviously I didn't get
- 50:27to do that in the Hornet. And a lot of it was if I could
- 50:30just focus on like, I don't know if anyone like ever paid
- 50:34attention like during hot laps or whatnot, but I would go out
- 50:36at the same time and make sure I could like chase him.
- 50:39And I guess focusing on like, you know, my following his line
- 50:45and like watching where he's letting off stuff like that.
- 50:47I guess in a way that kept me grounded and like kept me from
- 50:51getting overly. I mean, I'm always in my head at
- 50:54the racetrack. I'm not going to lie to you.
- 50:55That's always like, it's a mind game.
- 50:59But yeah, I guess in the beginning of the year, it was
- 51:02more so that just because I knew there was a lot to learn there
- 51:05and I knew if I could focus and just calm down and ground
- 51:09myself, that the right there is like 40 years of experience that
- 51:14I could learn from. And then in June when he got
- 51:18benched, he was more of like a vocal coach like he was before,
- 51:22obviously, because he wasn't able to be out there.
- 51:27And then these last couple weeks, I guess what grounded me
- 51:29was just since I don't know, I'm assuming people probably know
- 51:34this, before I took over the points lead, he was the points
- 51:36leader and that would have been his 12th championship if he
- 51:40would have won it. And he never had one at New
- 51:43Paris. Either so first.
- 51:45For him, so the last couple weeks it was more of course I
- 51:51wanted it for myself, but I wanted it for him also because
- 51:56if he couldn't win it, it's you know, his next obviously best
- 52:00choice would be me. So I guess that would be what
- 52:03kept me grounded and focused just cuz I know if I let myself
- 52:07get overly I could mess up and let it slip so.
- 52:12Ambuja, she did take the advice. She found a spot on Saturday
- 52:15away from the car as I I recommended, I said go find
- 52:19somewhere not near the car, not even in an where did, where was
- 52:22your spot? Where did you find comfort?
- 52:25So my best friend, her husband, came to the races on Saturday
- 52:29and I went with her over to her vehicle and just kind of sat
- 52:33there for a couple minutes in silence and calm down a little
- 52:36bit right before the feature. It was, I think the four
- 52:38cylinders. My head just went out and I'm
- 52:40like, OK, I have a couple minutes so.
- 52:43Good, when she said she did do that I'm like yes cuz I might.
- 52:48I was still nervous, but it did, it cleared my head a little bit
- 52:51so. They sometimes say if you're
- 52:53having like rough days. So I'm a very Sheldon Cooper
- 52:57when it comes to some things where like I like the same
- 53:00parking spot. I like the same kind of things
- 53:03where sometimes they say if you need to get out of your head,
- 53:06park in a different spot, like far away from your comfort, you
- 53:09know, walk to a building differently than what you
- 53:12usually do, take a different path.
- 53:14And so that's why I'm like, don't be near a car.
- 53:17Don't, don't be in the pit area. It may help you.
- 53:20And if it doesn't, at least we tried it.
- 53:21And like, Nah, bro, I hated that.
- 53:24Then don't do it again. But but at least it helped a
- 53:26little bit. But I know I've asked a lot of
- 53:28questions. I'm going to get a drink of
- 53:29water and I know Buju's followed question.
- 53:31So I'm going to let Buju take a couple here.
- 53:33So yeah, one thing we had in common is that we had the
- 53:36favorite. We had the same favorite driver
- 53:37growing up. He just happened to be your dad.
- 53:39So you said he was a great teacher, but how has your dad
- 53:42been as a teacher so far moving up to the street stock?
- 53:46Honestly, he's a lot calmer than I thought he'd be.
- 53:48Yeah, that's surprising. I.
- 53:50Figured. He'd be nervous honestly, just
- 53:53because you know, it's a big step, you know, going from a 4
- 53:56cylinder to AV8I really. And I don't know, I feel like
- 54:01sometimes he really only has to tell me something like once or
- 54:05twice it just clicks. I don't know if it's the way, I
- 54:07don't know if it's the way my brain works or the way he's
- 54:09explaining it, but I don't know. And, and I think it helped that
- 54:14he could just show me too. Also, like I get to go out there
- 54:18and just followed him around. And he's been through it all
- 54:21already, at least once for sure. Yeah.
- 54:24Has has this experience, your experience in the streets, not
- 54:27giving you any more respect for what he's done all these years?
- 54:30I know you're already his biggest fan already but.
- 54:34Yeah, points racing alone. I I've joked, I'm like I've
- 54:39joked multiple times. I don't ever want to do that
- 54:41again. That was stressful.
- 54:42But I'm not going to lie, it was very rewarding in the end.
- 54:44So I'm sure I'll do it at some. Point.
- 54:47But to have eleven of those? Yeah.
- 54:51That's that's impressive. And yeah, I don't even know how
- 54:54I did this one. So I can't imagine how he felt
- 54:57getting love in them. So and they were going till 3:00
- 54:59in the morning and they. Had a tea?
- 55:01Feature and yeah, well, that's where I didn't know he didn't
- 55:06win one at New Paris in my head, I mean, I knew South Bend, I
- 55:09knew Plymouth and in my head I thought he had a new Paris one
- 55:12at some point, but so I just learned something new tonight.
- 55:15That's where I, I thought he did, but I mean, he seemed
- 55:19pretty calm on Saturday too, which probably good from a
- 55:23doctor's standpoint that, that he seemed calm.
- 55:27So do you want to talk a little bit about, because I know in
- 55:29your post race interview, which was recorded, it's just not
- 55:33edited yet. It'll, it's coming though.
- 55:35But in your PO or your championship interview with
- 55:38Jeremy, you talked a little bit about there's a lot of people
- 55:41who helped you get back on the track.
- 55:42So obviously that red flag was super helpful that they had a
- 55:46lot of a clean up to do, right. So do you want to talk a little
- 55:48bit about that Behind the wall where nobody really could see
- 55:52what's going on except for those in turn four and three who
- 55:56helped like get that car back together to get you back on the
- 55:59track so that the championship is decided the way that it
- 56:02should always be decided, and that's on the track?
- 56:05So I'm not going to lie, there was so much going on.
- 56:09I can't remember a couple people who were helping.
- 56:14For one, it was Jazz, which he has helped my dad for the last
- 56:18few years. My mom was over there for moral
- 56:21support, making sure she's like, you know, someone didn't hear
- 56:25something. She'd be like, hey, they said
- 56:27they need this. You know, my dad was trying to
- 56:29jump in, even though he probably should have been.
- 56:32I know Bobby Schechler was over there.
- 56:36My boyfriend Zach was over there helping my cousin Christopher.
- 56:40I mean, there were so many. Oh, Will left turn Willie was
- 56:45over there. My goodness, there was, there
- 56:47was so many hands and, and that I, I, I'm honestly grateful
- 56:53because I walked off the track and I'm icing oil and I'm like,
- 56:58OK, my nights done. Like I'm like half into the
- 57:01trailer. I'm getting my fire suit off and
- 57:03Zach's like, we're going to try to fix it, get in the car and
- 57:06get ready. And I'm like, OK, I seen oil,
- 57:09but OK, I'm like, if you say so because you know, at that point,
- 57:14like I didn't know everything I was looking at either.
- 57:17So, so I'm in there and they start, you know, all these
- 57:23tools, the fan shroud comes off because it's all wadded up and
- 57:29they like rerouted a whole oil line because there was a hole in
- 57:33it and bypassed a bunch. It was honestly.
- 57:36And then I seen a ratchet strap coming in at some point to hold
- 57:39my radiator in my car. Like I it was honestly like how
- 57:44fast they work too and how In Sync, like someone would say
- 57:47something you'd be like, Oh yeah, like I can do this.
- 57:50And some guy ran for a funnel because no one could like the
- 57:54simplest thing, like no one could find 1.
- 57:56So it honestly like it was it was really cool and especially
- 58:01to be on like the receiving hand of that.
- 58:02Like you always see people talk about like the community at a
- 58:06racetrack, but to be like on the receiving end of that, that's.
- 58:09Really cool, very humbling for sure.
- 58:13Well, again, just you taking us through that, right?
- 58:15It's like, I mean, just the amount of people who jumped in
- 58:19to help with that again, I, I hesitated posting is kind of
- 58:24like, do I post? Do I not post?
- 58:26Do I post or not post? And because it's like it sucks
- 58:31that it happened, but it's like, but it keeps people updated.
- 58:34And then when you came back out, I'm like, OK, we're we're back
- 58:37in this right? And and I shouldn't say we're
- 58:39because it's I'm not in the car, but you know, you know, but it
- 58:42was one of those again, like I'm rooting for Charlie, rooting for
- 58:46Sage, but rooting for you because I've just where you've
- 58:49come and where you've gone, right?
- 58:50Like it's just like I'm a big fan of what you're doing and how
- 58:53you're racing in the way that you're racing.
- 58:54You know, you're not out there bullying people.
- 58:56You're not taking people out, you're not putting them in the
- 58:57wall. You're not like as a rookie, you
- 59:00don't look like a rookie. You know, and I'm sure people if
- 59:03I show people video and I said pick the rookie in this race,
- 59:06the 22 with pink is Oh, and it's not too bad.
- 59:10That's the first bark and we've been on almost 30 minutes,
- 59:12right. So that says, but it was out of
- 59:14nowhere. I'm like, maybe they maybe he
- 59:16agrees, but but I mean, you know, just, I bet if I ask
- 59:20someone to pick a rookie, they're not going to pick your
- 59:23car, right? Like you don't stand out as a
- 59:25rookie. And so, so with that, that's
- 59:28where, you know, taking us through that.
- 59:30It's like, I couldn't see what was going on because you're just
- 59:32behind the big wall there. So I'm like, OK, I, I see
- 59:36commotion, I hear stuff. But but again, that just for
- 59:41everyone to jump in. Josh Summers, Let's give a shout
- 59:43out to Josh Summers. Unfortunately, the new Paris
- 59:46rule is once the race starts, they can't change cars or
- 59:49anything like that. It opens up Gray areas, which I
- 59:51I understand. I'm kind of like, well, what if
- 59:53the whole field took a vote that was next?
- 59:55And you know, I was trying to trying to politic a little bit,
- 1:00:00but but you know, Josh Summers, right, he volunteered his car.
- 1:00:05He was going to get out of his car and let you get in it just
- 1:00:07so you can finish the race. And I thought again, that
- 1:00:10gesture, right. It's almost like you want to
- 1:00:12honor that gesture. I get rules or rules, but I see
- 1:00:14rules broken all the time. By the way.
- 1:00:16So which rule are we enforcing and when?
- 1:00:18And and that's not a new pair thing.
- 1:00:20I there are rules everywhere, right, Galesburg, wherever, like
- 1:00:23rules or rules, right. And so sometimes it's like.
- 1:00:26I don't know, you let that rule go.
- 1:00:27So why, you know, and again, this is not a specific new
- 1:00:30pairs. It's just sometimes those rules.
- 1:00:32I'm like, man, you got someone who's willing to give up their
- 1:00:34car and this is the championship night.
- 1:00:36Like it's not like a weekly night, right?
- 1:00:38This is the championship. And so, but I didn't I obviously
- 1:00:42didn't force it because it's not my it's not my rule book, but
- 1:00:45it's like, man, if ever can get on.
- 1:00:47So let's you know, Josh Summers to do that.
- 1:00:48That was incredible because again, that shows the community,
- 1:00:51right? You know, that, hey, like, I
- 1:00:53know this is bigger than me. I've raced here a couple times
- 1:00:56this year. Haley's literally in the
- 1:00:57championship chase. Like let's get her a car, let's
- 1:01:00get her on the track, and let's finish this where it should be
- 1:01:02finished, and that's on the track.
- 1:01:04So I didn't want to forget that point that, you know, Josh
- 1:01:07Summers offered that. So kudos to him because he
- 1:01:10didn't have to, right? No one had to.
- 1:01:12Yeah. I thought it was awesome when I
- 1:01:14was. Told about that I'm like I not
- 1:01:17that I would have honestly, I would never expect that on
- 1:01:19anybody. Like, no one, especially like
- 1:01:23someone who you don't know how they're going to run your car,
- 1:01:26you know, like. I don't know it.
- 1:01:27Takes a lot for someone to offer that up.
- 1:01:30Yeah, 'cause I mean, anything could happen in any given
- 1:01:32moment, right? And it'd be like, Hey, this is
- 1:01:34this is a bigger moment than any of us right now.
- 1:01:36And so I'm again, just big kudos to Josh Thomas and and, you
- 1:01:40know, for offering that opportunity.
- 1:01:42But that's when you came back out, the crowd was excited, a
- 1:01:44huge, I mean, a big round of applause and cheer because
- 1:01:48again, it was that was really just again, sad to see when it
- 1:01:53happened. And I know there's a brake
- 1:01:54check, right? Like the field kind of checked
- 1:01:57up and you just kind of hit it at the right spot at the wrong
- 1:02:00time or wrong spot, right time, whatever, how much weight we
- 1:02:02want to go with it. So when we're at this moment now
- 1:02:07thinking of who did that in the pit area, who are the sponsors
- 1:02:10who are on your car this year that have helped you, You know,
- 1:02:13both you and your dad get to the track.
- 1:02:15Hold on. Yeah, you're allowed to read, by
- 1:02:18the way, doing. This, yeah.
- 1:02:19As the fill in announced with the new pair of Speedway, the
- 1:02:21list is long. OK, so for one, I want to I
- 1:02:28thank my mom, my dad, my grandpa Zach, Christopher Jazz just for
- 1:02:33the, you know, the weekend week out support the help, you know,
- 1:02:37any, everything, you know, anything, everything under the
- 1:02:39sun. And then R&B Car Company,
- 1:02:42Milligan's Auto Plus, DC Garage Door, Depew Auto Group, Hoax
- 1:02:47Graphics, Tough Guy Enterprises, Davis Family Racing, Dirty D
- 1:02:50Motors, Brand Roofing, BNS Logistics, and I want to say I
- 1:02:56covered them. Brand Roofing.
- 1:02:59I maybe said that already. There you go twice.
- 1:03:01So he got it. He got a shout out.
- 1:03:03His money's worth, yeah. Yeah, so cuz I mean, obviously
- 1:03:07it takes a lot of people, especially St.
- 1:03:09Stock racing, right? So, So what are your plans?
- 1:03:12Obviously you're in the street stock, but do you have any like
- 1:03:15your dad did outlaw late model racing?
- 1:03:17Do you think you would ever want to do limited late model racing
- 1:03:20or outlaw late model racing? Or are you pretty happy and
- 1:03:23content and the OK? Maybe not happy, All right.
- 1:03:26You're pretty content in the street stock, right?
- 1:03:28Because I know obviously we got work on the confidence part.
- 1:03:31So maybe I, you know, So what, what are your plans like?
- 1:03:34Where do you see your career going as it continues to unfold?
- 1:03:39So I definitely want to stay in a so St. stocks are my favorite
- 1:03:42class like period dot like I will always probably the rest of
- 1:03:47my racing career, at least try to have one.
- 1:03:50So that's obviously like my favorite and I'm very content in
- 1:03:53in that class right now. I don't know.
- 1:03:56I think, you know, give me a couple of years and if we still
- 1:03:59had outlaws, maybe I would jump in one if dad was cool with it.
- 1:04:02But as of right now, now I'm like fully focused on the street
- 1:04:06stock. I probably wouldn't if someone
- 1:04:11if he were to be like next year, like, hey, do you want no, not
- 1:04:15at this moment, No, maybe like 4 year.
- 1:04:18Give me another couple. Years like.
- 1:04:19You know, maybe, but yeah, at least that full time.
- 1:04:24When a lot of people, I mean, you have a lot of late model
- 1:04:27drivers who have gone, I don't want to say go back because I
- 1:04:31don't I don't want to make it seem like it's a downgrade, but
- 1:04:34who have stepped over to the street socks and they're like
- 1:04:37they're more fun. You know, Steve Stacy said that
- 1:04:40in the past who obviously he too has championships and all that
- 1:04:43kind of deal. Like he's loved the street sock
- 1:04:46where I think this is the first year really that he's gotten the
- 1:04:49late model as many times as he has in a in a while.
- 1:04:52But, but that's what I was wondering because it's like, I
- 1:04:54know the Outlaws are there, although I think you guys did
- 1:04:57sell one. Yeah, we have one still.
- 1:05:00So I, I know obviously he's talked a little bit about that
- 1:05:04and, and having an outlaw. So that's where I'm like, I
- 1:05:06wonder if you'd ever jump in that because obviously template
- 1:05:09racing really isn't staying around.
- 1:05:10And I know he raised templates for a little bit too.
- 1:05:14So with that Buju, did you have any other questions?
- 1:05:16Because I know, like I said, I've, I know I've asked a lot,
- 1:05:18but my, my brains racing as I'm going through the questions.
- 1:05:22Back in new Paris next year are playing still in the air.
- 1:05:24What's next year looking like? I definitely love to go back to
- 1:05:28New Paris. I and well, I enjoyed racing.
- 1:05:30There's a Hornet that was one reason why I wanted to go back.
- 1:05:33Plus my dad, you know, he's very firm on the fact that if you can
- 1:05:37race New Paris, you can get around there, you can get around
- 1:05:39anywhere. So when I got the street stuck,
- 1:05:41it was very important for to him for me to go over there.
- 1:05:45And I, I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed the staff, the people
- 1:05:50there, the racing. I don't, I don't know, I enjoyed
- 1:05:53it. I will definitely go back.
- 1:05:55Yeah. Any plans for bigger big races
- 1:05:58next year? Maybe Ravers, Rumble, something
- 1:06:00like that. I might attempt the flagger boy,
- 1:06:04I don't know. As far as this year, I would
- 1:06:09like to go to the Showdown at South Bend, but that's my home
- 1:06:12track so I would love to go back there.
- 1:06:14Yep, where a lot of history too for your dad and your
- 1:06:18grandfather, right? I mean, just ball racing in
- 1:06:21South Bend Motor Speedway or South Bend Speedway, right?
- 1:06:24Just go hand in hand, so and I know.
- 1:06:27Do you have any memories of your Sorry to cut you?
- 1:06:28Off Oh no, no, you. Have any memories of your
- 1:06:30grandpa are racing or no? I don't.
- 1:06:33No, you missed out. I, I know when I was really
- 1:06:37young, my dad would take the old El Camino that he would run to
- 1:06:42like not a destruction event, but that's like the only other.
- 1:06:46Than I wasn't sure how the years lined up, but yeah, he was.
- 1:06:49He was wild to watch sometimes, as you could probably imagine.
- 1:06:53Well, 'cause wasn't he? Didn't he landed in the turn
- 1:06:56through bleachers? Wasn't he one of the drivers who
- 1:06:58did? Or was that a Hannah?
- 1:06:59That could be that was a Hannah that.
- 1:07:02Was OK, I know you're talking about but I thought I.
- 1:07:03Wouldn't be surprised if Rick did it too.
- 1:07:05Yeah, I felt like I felt like Rich talked about something,
- 1:07:09something like that one time and I can't remember.
- 1:07:12And I've tried, but but with that, right, you know, obviously
- 1:07:16we continue to hope for your dad to maybe find time to sit and
- 1:07:19relax a little bit too. But, you know, because watching
- 1:07:23him race is still always fun. And and he's been a huge
- 1:07:27supporter of Chris and Tracy too.
- 1:07:29So, you know, that's where you know, when you have an
- 1:07:32endorsement like Rich Bowl giving it to New Paris, that's
- 1:07:35where I wish more and more drivers would share their
- 1:07:38experience because I don't think, you know, Chris and Tracy
- 1:07:41are are sometimes getting the credit that they do deserve.
- 1:07:43I mean, they're keeping a track open that, you know, I'm sure
- 1:07:47some developer at some point might come to them with all that
- 1:07:50farm field around there and offer a nice fat check.
- 1:07:52And they could just here you go, here's the keys and walk away,
- 1:07:55right? That, you know, your dad has
- 1:07:57been very vocal about. I love my time at New Paris.
- 1:07:59They've treated me with nothing but respect.
- 1:08:01And that and then hearing you say that.
- 1:08:03And we have a lot of people watching right now to hear like,
- 1:08:06you know, I know people have perception of New Paris in the
- 1:08:09past. And obviously even in that
- 1:08:11moment in day, there might be times where people are mad that
- 1:08:14day at New Paris. Like you might even be mad one
- 1:08:16of these days, like, man, this place, you know, but then it's
- 1:08:18like, OK, adrenaline, all the things, right?
- 1:08:21Like, you know, I still love it here.
- 1:08:23And so I'm gonna hear you even say you're positive.
- 1:08:26It's like, that's the kind of stuff that we need more and more
- 1:08:28people to say about new Paris, that it's not what it was five
- 1:08:33years ago, six years ago, seven years ago.
- 1:08:35Like, you know, they're, they're, they're said they
- 1:08:37sometimes take it on the chin for the, for what they've had to
- 1:08:40do. But they've they've definitely
- 1:08:42made it an environment where people can be a part of the
- 1:08:44staff works well together. So it's like, man, just so
- 1:08:47hearing you say that, I'm glad you know, to hear your
- 1:08:50experience there and that you look forward to coming.
- 1:08:52So I know Chris is in here watching.
- 1:08:54So just to be clear, I'm sure Chris did not pay you any money
- 1:08:59out of the table to. Say this is not a paid
- 1:09:01endorsement by the new pair of Speedway.
- 1:09:03But he did wonder about Trifecta on September 19th, Saturday.
- 1:09:07If I know you didn't do the two Trifecta races yet, but maybe
- 1:09:12September 19th, come on out. It's the final race at New
- 1:09:15Paris. Weekly regular racing at New
- 1:09:17Paris maybe? I'll say maybe.
- 1:09:21Maybe it'll. Just yeah, it'll depend on, it's
- 1:09:24like I said, I, I would really, I, I'd really love to go to
- 1:09:27South Bend. So I guess it would probably
- 1:09:29just honestly depend if the car got tore up there.
- 1:09:32Well, we're gonna hope not for that.
- 1:09:34Everybody behave at South Bend on this.
- 1:09:36Wall. Yeah.
- 1:09:38Well, so you'd be South Bend in the Hornet, right?
- 1:09:41Because didn't you race the Hornet at South Bend?
- 1:09:43A couple? No.
- 1:09:44Yes. No.
- 1:09:44Yeah, so my rookie, my first ever season racing was like the
- 1:09:48last full season of South Bend. So I raced there the full year
- 1:09:52in the Hornet and then last year, the year before, whenever
- 1:09:57they did like that last lap, I went there for that in the
- 1:10:02Hornet. And then 4th of July, Misty
- 1:10:05Gardner let me get back in my old Hornet and I went there to
- 1:10:08race. So in a straight suck, I haven't
- 1:10:10raced there, I'm kinda nervous, but I was a blast in the Hornet
- 1:10:14so. Again, your dad is right.
- 1:10:16A lot of people say this too, but your dad definitely is
- 1:10:18right. If you can race at new Paris,
- 1:10:21there are a lot of places you can race just because it's, it's
- 1:10:25a technical track in a lot of ways.
- 1:10:26You get, you know, getting through one and two.
- 1:10:29I mean, you, you were at the tail end of Chloe coming on and
- 1:10:31talk a little bit about how it, how it feels that you should
- 1:10:34race new Paris versus the reality of racing new Paris.
- 1:10:37And so, so again, if, if you can do that, like I'd love to see
- 1:10:41you someday come up to Kalamazoo and give that a shot and race
- 1:10:44with that group of St. Stocks and, and see how you do
- 1:10:48with them and, and just get that experience right.
- 1:10:51Like Cody Lawler has done that this year where I think he's
- 1:10:55made a lot of gains in doing that, where the couple trips he
- 1:10:58made, right, he was off the pace to everyone else.
- 1:11:01But this year he's been right with them.
- 1:11:02And so including doing really well in the ravers until his
- 1:11:06fall start. That kind of changed that race
- 1:11:08for him. But but it's like you get up
- 1:11:11there and then if you can race Kalamazoo, you'd be able to go
- 1:11:15just about anywhere and probably beat some butt while you're
- 1:11:18doing it. So, so again, I know you've had
- 1:11:22a busy weekend. I, when I message where when you
- 1:11:26messaged me yesterday, I'm like, I could just imagine your inbox
- 1:11:29and, and I know you still probably have messages to catch
- 1:11:32up on. That's why I'm like, I'm sending
- 1:11:33this at 1:00 tomorrow. That's my routine.
- 1:11:35But cuz then I at least like to be somewhat near the top of the
- 1:11:38inbox. But again, you, I, you have so
- 1:11:42many people in your corner. So just keep going out control
- 1:11:46what you can control and within that circle, because you're,
- 1:11:49you're doing better than I think you think you're doing.
- 1:11:52So you know, just, but I know at the end of the day, it's not
- 1:11:55what we think. At the end of the day, it has to
- 1:11:57be what you're thinking. So because you're the one behind
- 1:12:00the wheel, but just know that the person behind the wheel
- 1:12:03knows what they're doing and is doing just a absolutely
- 1:12:06fantastic job at it. So thank you.
- 1:12:08You're doing because you're, you're, you have one of what is
- 1:12:12going to be many track championships in your career.
- 1:12:16And that feature is common. It's, I mean, you were close a
- 1:12:18few weeks ago and they say the hardest 1 to get is the first
- 1:12:22one, but I have a feeling once you get that one, Haley's taking
- 1:12:27over, it's going to be the Haley Tour.
- 1:12:29So again, congratulations on your 2026 Monte's Tire St.
- 1:12:34Stock new pair Speedway Track championship and Rookie of the
- 1:12:38Year Clint Sweep. I don't know if that happens too
- 1:12:41often either that you get rookie, someone gets rookie of
- 1:12:43the year and a championship in the same year.
- 1:12:45First one a new pairs apparently.
- 1:12:47Yep. So, so again, congratulations
- 1:12:50Haley on that. Yeah, congratulations.
- 1:12:52No, again, thank you and thank you for coming on tonight.
- 1:12:54Oh, thank you for having me. Oh, you're hey, it's our honor
- 1:12:59to have Someone Like You on here.
- 1:13:01So again, we've we've. Lewis will send your check in
- 1:13:04the mail. Yeah.
- 1:13:06I mean, we've talked about you a lot on, you know, between
- 1:13:09Mondays and Thursdays, you know, because you're definitely
- 1:13:12impressive out there. So enjoy it.
- 1:13:15Well, you know, just take a moment and enjoy that
- 1:13:17championship. Yeah.
- 1:13:19All right. Oh, no.
- 1:13:20Again, thank you again. We've been talking with Haley
- 1:13:23Bowl. She is the official 2026
- 1:13:26Monteith Tire St. Stock track champion at the new
- 1:13:29Paris Speedway. It sounds like you'll get to see
- 1:13:32her next at the South Bend Motor Speedway Showdown.
- 1:13:36Buju, what are the dates on that?
- 1:13:37I obviously I'm out of the loop. That would be.
- 1:13:41The weekend of September 12th so.
- 1:13:43All right, so hey, if you're not at the night of destruction at
- 1:13:47Kalamazoo or at New Paris, it sounds like you should be down
- 1:13:51at South Bend to watch the showdown.
- 1:13:53I'll be racing as well. I believe so.
- 1:13:55But you don't count. My track record, that's only a
- 1:14:00couple. Laps at a time, so.
- 1:14:03So go watch Haley. Who?
- 1:14:04That's who we're advertising right now.
- 1:14:05We're advertising. Race and I'll make an appearance
- 1:14:07as well. So Buju will be there pretending
- 1:14:11to be race car driver like he does a lot of the time.
- 1:14:13So again, just busting on Buju a little bit.
- 1:14:17I haven't had a chance to do that in a while.
- 1:14:19But before we bring on Kyle, Drew Jack wants me to do a
- 1:14:23little bit of a drawing here. And I know Kyle, he's been in
- 1:14:26the chat area for or staging area for a little bit.
- 1:14:28So I'm ready to bring on Flipper, which I will address
- 1:14:30him as Flipper because that's how he addresses himself as his
- 1:14:33flipper. So so it's kind of like how you
- 1:14:35don't go by Brandon, you go by Buju.
- 1:14:37So all. Right, we got a flipper coming
- 1:14:39on next. Yeah, so, so I I'm.
- 1:14:42Excited. I'm excited to learn about.
- 1:14:43Kyle slash flipper I. I know the name and I've
- 1:14:46definitely seen him race a few times.
- 1:14:47So. Curious to learn the name.
- 1:14:49The guy behind the name, Yeah. Well, because I even went
- 1:14:52through and I watched a bunch of his videos too, because I've
- 1:14:54called him Kyle numerous times, right?
- 1:14:55But then I'm like, OK, every video though, he addresses
- 1:14:58themselves, his himself as Flipper.
- 1:15:00So I'm just calling him Flipper even though the graphic will
- 1:15:03have his real name on there too. I'm like, I if that's what he
- 1:15:07calls himself, that's what we're going to, that's what we're
- 1:15:09going to call him. That's at least what I'll call
- 1:15:11him. You can call him whatever you
- 1:15:12want, but you guys can, you can tussle, you know.
- 1:15:15Just remember though, he has an outlaw that can chase down that
- 1:15:17Hornet. Yeah, you're you can chase down
- 1:15:21my Hornet on. Foot So let's go ahead and do
- 1:15:25this wheel of names for Drew Jack.
- 1:15:26So is it showing the ad? It's an ad shoot well.
- 1:15:31No free ads. There we go.
- 1:15:33It's going now. Well, you never know when you go
- 1:15:35to websites like this, you never know what they're going to show
- 1:15:37either. So it's kind of one of those
- 1:15:38like you just don't, I don't want to take a risk and, you
- 1:15:42know, be advertising something that we shouldn't be advertising
- 1:15:45because that would be my damn luck.
- 1:15:46So anyways, let's, I don't know how many I'm supposed to do for
- 1:15:50Drew. So what?
- 1:15:51Here's what we're going to do. We're going to just, we're going
- 1:15:53to pick three names and, and Drew can figure it out because
- 1:15:56he didn't give me the directions.
- 1:15:57So you said can you do, can you do this for me on the show?
- 1:16:01And I said yes. So we'll do three.
- 1:16:03If it's one, it's one. If it's two, it's two.
- 1:16:04If it's three, it's three. We'll let Drew figure it out.
- 1:16:06Sound fair? Sounds fair.
- 1:16:08Is he in the chat? Not in the chat.
- 1:16:10So we're making up the rules as we go.
- 1:16:11That's right. We made it up and the points
- 1:16:14don't matter. Yeah.
- 1:16:15Yeah, so the first person to receive Chris, I want to make
- 1:16:20sure it's going to stop by Chris.
- 1:16:22Oh, is it going to? Oh, wow.
- 1:16:24I'm like just a figure. Just one, just one, Andy said.
- 1:16:27Just one. So Chris Elwell is our winner.
- 1:16:29Oh, OK, All right. Who said just one?
- 1:16:32Andy Drew, sorry. Oh, OK, Sorry.
- 1:16:35Yeah, Yeah, I call him Drew. He's been Andy for me too.
- 1:16:39He was Andy to me for too long. He's Andy forever.
- 1:16:42I'm like, because I didn't see the post, I didn't see anything.
- 1:16:44I'm not really been on Facebook today.
- 1:16:45I've had a lot of other fish to fry and this has not been one of
- 1:16:48them. So, so Chris out well in 95
- 1:16:51front wheel drive. He's raced out of Cal at
- 1:16:54Kalamazoo a couple times. Again, this is for Birch Run.
- 1:16:56So that is our that's our winner there.
- 1:17:00So former spring spring, Oh my gosh, they're making up Birch
- 1:17:04now. Spring port racer as well.
- 1:17:06That's where I got to know Chris.
- 1:17:07A lot is over at Spring Port. So so I I'm excited because he's
- 1:17:12he's got a different card than what he's had in the past and
- 1:17:14he's been booking it. So I know he's had some tough
- 1:17:16luck, but but yeah, so they're going over to Birch Run.
- 1:17:21So if you're not going to Birch Run on Friday, obviously
- 1:17:25calendars you will have their championship night.
- 1:17:27And just so everyone remembers calendars you as a tradition and
- 1:17:30I I love it. I love this features only,
- 1:17:32especially on championship nights, because heat races won't
- 1:17:35determine the champion. The features will determine the
- 1:17:37champion. So there's a couple times that
- 1:17:40new Paris on Saturday. I'm like, do they not remember
- 1:17:42that the race of their championship?
- 1:17:43You know, like why are we crashing in the heat race?
- 1:17:46And that that got frustrating because I'm like, you know, This
- 1:17:49is why I hate heat races on a championship program night or
- 1:17:53big night. It's like heat races ruin it.
- 1:17:56And and I get it, you know, I hear Tim Craig in my head.
- 1:17:59Well, I'm here to race. I'm not here to just do a
- 1:18:00feature. Well, you know, he had bad luck
- 1:18:03in the heat race and his night almost could have ended there.
- 1:18:06So it's like, if it's going to end, it might as well end in the
- 1:18:08future. But so Callum is used to in
- 1:18:10features only. That's what they do every
- 1:18:12championship night. This features only, unless
- 1:18:13something did change. Tina will correct me if I'm
- 1:18:15wrong, but that's what Donnie said.
- 1:18:17This features only and then obviously at the start of the
- 1:18:20year we always do features only. So I like that they make it
- 1:18:23matter. I'm guessing if it's in the
- 1:18:25past, if the futures might even be extended a few laps, that's
- 1:18:28usually what they do. So it's like racing a heat race,
- 1:18:30but it's in the future where the points matter.
- 1:18:33At Kalamazoo we give just participation points for doing
- 1:18:35heat races, 10 points to everybody.
- 1:18:37It's like Oprah, you get 10 points and you get 10 points.
- 1:18:40First or last you get 10 points. So the heat race doesn't really
- 1:18:43do anything at Kalamazoo anyways.
- 1:18:45They do that because they have a throw out night.
- 1:18:47So I know because of the throw out, whether Matthew Elsie
- 1:18:50Junior is at Birch Run or he's at Kalamazoo, he is the champion
- 1:18:55because he can't. Yeah, he has a throw at night.
- 1:18:58And so Matt Elsie I believe is second is Scott Elsie's third,
- 1:19:03Tina Dick from Features only. So that's where as they are
- 1:19:05crashing each other in the heat races at New Parasol.
- 1:19:07I'm on the roof. Stop.
- 1:19:09This is not where you crash. I mean, crashing's not good
- 1:19:12anywhere, but not in a heat race.
- 1:19:14Come on, you get like 5 bucks for this.
- 1:19:15So, but everyone does things a little different so that they
- 1:19:20that's what they did. But I'm like, stop crashing.
- 1:19:23You muted yourself by the way. So 35 laps for the real world
- 1:19:28drive. So that's an extension for some
- 1:19:30of them. Late models usually go 35, but
- 1:19:33for limited late they'll go 35 and then shoe socks 35.
- 1:19:36It looks like it. Then 30 for the A feature, which
- 1:19:39that's five more laps in normal. B is five more laps than normal.
- 1:19:43They usually go 20, and then the C is usually 15 laps, so they're
- 1:19:47going 20. So see, it's like running a heat
- 1:19:49race, except you're doing in the future where the points matter.
- 1:19:51So anyways, Speaking of points matter, Flipper's been waiting
- 1:19:56around a little bit, so we're now a little bit behind.
- 1:19:58So let's go ahead and bring on Flipper and we can talk about
- 1:20:01his journey to the Kalamazoo Clash and of course everything
- 1:20:03that that he does with his YouTube.
- 1:20:07Program so again let's bring on Kyle slash flipper, who I will
- 1:20:11be referring to from here on out as flipper because that's how he
- 1:20:15calls himself so I want to make it right so so flipper again
- 1:20:18welcome to the Monday night rewind I know you said you were
- 1:20:21excited for this and I'm like it's it's an honor for me to
- 1:20:23have you on just like having you know we had Chloe and Haley to
- 1:20:26start it's like I always appreciate everyone who comes
- 1:20:28onto our program and his camera is also in that beacon group
- 1:20:33with Chloe so his his is one of the few that made it all the way
- 1:20:36to the end we get him parking in the pit as he talked about I
- 1:20:40think we have one gallon of fuel left so.
- 1:20:43No, I you, you made it to my end.
- 1:20:47We we were right. Now 5 to go SO5TO.
- 1:20:50Go. All right.
- 1:20:51Yeah. Because did you?
- 1:20:52Did you? So you ran out of fuel for sure.
- 1:20:55Yes. Oh yeah.
- 1:20:56Yeah, we got back and I I threw a little bit of fuel down the
- 1:21:00the throat there and she fired right up.
- 1:21:02So thankfully that's all it was. But yeah, so close.
- 1:21:09Well, and that's where you know, again, when you run a race like
- 1:21:13that, right, 125 laps, you never know what's going to happen
- 1:21:18because I know like a was it at Owosso this year that they had a
- 1:21:21late model race where I think it was at the beginning of the year
- 1:21:24where they ran more or maybe it's last year they ran more
- 1:21:27caution laps than they did actual feature laps just because
- 1:21:32one thing after another. So with the Outlaws, you just
- 1:21:34never, I always tell people it's one or the other.
- 1:21:37It's either going to be like green, green, green, green,
- 1:21:40green, green, green, you know, and it just goes forever and
- 1:21:42ever and ever. There's momentum, right?
- 1:21:44Or it's going to be like opposite end where it's just
- 1:21:47kind of caution filled. And and even though the clash, I
- 1:21:51think the clash had like 11 cautions total, it was really
- 1:21:54like 2 of them that really stretch it because that it was 2
- 1:21:58cleanups that were like 7 minutes each time.
- 1:22:01And so that's, I mean, that's 14 minutes of just, you know,
- 1:22:05circling around and, you know, it's kind of one of those that
- 1:22:09it just, it happens, right? Oh yeah, and, and me, I'm in my
- 1:22:1440s now. So 11 cautions I was OK with
- 1:22:19because I got to catch my breath a little bit.
- 1:22:22Well, and so for those, so while we catch our breath, right,
- 1:22:26because that's something that for you to even get to the clash
- 1:22:30was a really big deal. You did a tire waffle, which is
- 1:22:34the official word you can use on Facebook is waffle.
- 1:22:38If you use a different word, Facebook gets really hairy and
- 1:22:43you know, so we're not allowed to use those words.
- 1:22:45But yeah, so with the waffle, I know you did that.
- 1:22:47You had some people step up and give some extra prizes and all
- 1:22:49that. So why don't we start there of
- 1:22:52getting you to the clash and then we'll rewind it a little
- 1:22:55bit to for those who may not know who Flipper is and why
- 1:22:59flipper, Someone even said, you know, where does the name
- 1:23:01Flipper come from? Like there's even AI know you
- 1:23:04can't see in the photo but there's a a a plushie and the
- 1:23:08car with him if you want to tell Louie about that story too.
- 1:23:12So. So, so let's start with to get
- 1:23:15to the clash and then we'll rewind.
- 1:23:17All right, so kind of, I guess to start with getting to the
- 1:23:23Clash, what is the Clash to me? Well, my first time going to the
- 1:23:27Clash was with my son Bryce. He was, you know, about very
- 1:23:31tall and huge Kyle Busch fan and Kyle Busch was racing.
- 1:23:35It was his first time running the clutch.
- 1:23:37So we went and all these outlaw late models ripping around for I
- 1:23:41think it was 100 laps back and it's so cool.
- 1:23:44And it that's one of those shows that you sit there in the stands
- 1:23:48and you never sit there and go. Someday I'm going to be able to
- 1:23:50do that, especially not as a a young dad with the family and
- 1:23:54all that. Fast forward now my son's
- 1:23:58graduated. He, he's, he's starting his own
- 1:24:01life. I've got an opportunity to do
- 1:24:04something that I never thought I could.
- 1:24:08And at first I was looking forward to the clash.
- 1:24:11But you know, life happens and some stuff came up and, you
- 1:24:14know, you kind of have to make that decision.
- 1:24:17I can't do it. I, I might be able to, but if
- 1:24:19something goes wrong now I'm dipping into bill money and
- 1:24:23stuff like that. And that's don't do that, you
- 1:24:25know. Well, someone had put up a, a, a
- 1:24:28reply saying, well, why don't you have a raffle or waffle and
- 1:24:34I'll try anything once. And so I threw it up there.
- 1:24:38The craziest thing, people started buying spots.
- 1:24:41I never expected. I kind of expected it to just
- 1:24:44fizzle out and like, all right, well, we tried it and that was
- 1:24:46fun. So it snowballed.
- 1:24:49We started having some stuff donated for various spots and I
- 1:24:53think I sold, we had like 55 waffle spots and I sold most of
- 1:24:57them. I think 30 of some of them, at
- 1:24:58least enough to get me to the tires.
- 1:25:01I sold some race car parts and and it worked.
- 1:25:06We ended up going to the Clash again.
- 1:25:09This is a race where I sat in the grandstands and I never
- 1:25:13would have thought 10 years down the road I'm going to be on that
- 1:25:17track doing that with those guys.
- 1:25:20Let alone the fact that I got Terry Seneker on the track with
- 1:25:24me. I got Andy Bozell blowing my
- 1:25:27doors off all of all of the names that I used to watch and I
- 1:25:33get to watch them a lot closer now.
- 1:25:37It was so cool, man. I was so excited for it.
- 1:25:40We went there, we had one goal. We just wanted to make it to the
- 1:25:43future. We wanted to make the feature
- 1:25:47very under budget team, very under powered car.
- 1:25:51I'm out there having fun. I no unrealistic expectations.
- 1:25:55I know what we have. And so my goal is to just make
- 1:25:58the feature and at the driver's meeting they go well, there's 28
- 1:26:01of you in my stomach immediately goes, oh, this is going to be
- 1:26:05tough. We're starting all of you.
- 1:26:07Yay awesome. So yeah, of course I get on
- 1:26:13Facebook and like we made the clash and then went, I better
- 1:26:16make sure I actually turn all the laps and make it to the
- 1:26:19feature. But we did, you know, when when
- 1:26:24you're a budget team, you have to be very patient and you have
- 1:26:28to save money where you can, which means a lot of used part
- 1:26:31used parts also kind of come with a little bit of a Gray
- 1:26:34area. So making the feature sometimes
- 1:26:37is is a big feat. But I mean, not only do we make
- 1:26:43it, we were in 100 and 20 laps of the the 125 lap feature
- 1:26:47before we ran out of fuel. It was crazy because about lap
- 1:26:5280, I thought something was wrong with the car because I'm
- 1:26:55going around under caution. It's grinding.
- 1:26:58What in the world? No, it's my my helmets laying
- 1:27:02against the I couldn't hold my head up anymore.
- 1:27:05The G forces were so much. I just I'm yeah, laying it
- 1:27:09against there and like what's. Oh, so, but then it became I was
- 1:27:13on a mission. It was just I'm finishing this
- 1:27:15thing and such a cool experience.
- 1:27:21And on that note, I got to thank, you know, I got to thank
- 1:27:24my wife because she puts up with it and encourages it, which
- 1:27:29encouraging this in me. Bad combination, but she's OK
- 1:27:34with it. And, and, and I married her
- 1:27:37obviously. You know, I got to thank my son.
- 1:27:43He came out, he was there at the Clash before me.
- 1:27:47He already had a spot honed out and everything.
- 1:27:49He was excited. Huge help.
- 1:27:52So thank you to Bryce. One of my sponsors, Union City
- 1:27:55Speed Shop, John and Betty Culp showed up.
- 1:27:58They were in my pits helping out.
- 1:28:00God, we had fun. Bottom line, I, you know, we
- 1:28:04finished I think officially 19th and I think you'd have a hard
- 1:28:08time finding someone that finished better, that had more
- 1:28:10fun then it just it was such a cool experience.
- 1:28:14It was such a blast so. Well, even talking with you
- 1:28:19after the race, right, like, I mean, you're in great spirits
- 1:28:22and and you the way that I kind of described it to someone, I
- 1:28:26said he is who he is, right? You're always energetic.
- 1:28:30You're all, and I mean that in a good way, right?
- 1:28:32Like you're like any time I've ever interacted with you,
- 1:28:35whether it's at Springport or wherever, you're always, you
- 1:28:38just always seem to be in a good mood, right?
- 1:28:40And I'm sure there are things that might make you mad or
- 1:28:41frustrated or angry. We all are human.
- 1:28:43We all have that. But I've not had a chance to
- 1:28:47wow, besides that, besides the F17 behind you, right?
- 1:28:53But but right, just watching you walk through, I mean, you're,
- 1:28:58you remind me a lot of like Joel, where Joel always seems
- 1:29:01happy at the track. He always seems to be in a good
- 1:29:03mood no matter what's going on. Even if he's kind of getting it
- 1:29:06taken on the channel a little bit, he's still like, OK, well,
- 1:29:10I'm just doing me right. And you know, even to have a
- 1:29:13camera with you and, and afterwards, like it's well, it's
- 1:29:16an honor for me to have one of your cameras.
- 1:29:17Like, no, like I get to ride with you, right?
- 1:29:19And that was really exciting for me just because I was watching
- 1:29:22your journey. And if I wasn't in a spot where
- 1:29:25I am financially, I definitely would have been jumping in on
- 1:29:27that to help you because it's like, man, those are the people
- 1:29:30who you cheer for and root for. Those are the people who you
- 1:29:33want to make the show because they're out there, you know,
- 1:29:36they know you were very upfront with everyone.
- 1:29:38Like I know I'm not running this race like, but it didn't stop
- 1:29:43you from going. It didn't stop you from racing.
- 1:29:46It didn't stop you from wanting to be there where you know,
- 1:29:50there are, there are sometimes drivers.
- 1:29:53And I'm not talking locally. It's just in broad general
- 1:29:55stroke like the bigger show, they're not going to go because
- 1:29:59that's there's competition, right.
- 1:30:01And that didn't seem to bother you one, but you're like, I
- 1:30:03don't care who I'm racing with. I get to race, I get to be there
- 1:30:06and it's the clash and it's prestigious.
- 1:30:08And so, so again, that was, it was just so fun watching it
- 1:30:11happen. I didn't know the story.
- 1:30:13I mean, I just learned it while you were telling it here.
- 1:30:15And I mean that to me, that is what racing is supposed to be.
- 1:30:19Like Lewis said, a lot of times people don't show up to these
- 1:30:21big shows because they know that it's a long shot that they're
- 1:30:25going to win. But when you were talking about
- 1:30:27just what the Clash means to you and what just being there meant
- 1:30:30and how great of a day it was just being part of the show,
- 1:30:33that's what racing is supposed to be.
- 1:30:34So thank you for sharing that. I don't even have a question for
- 1:30:37you. I just want to thank you for
- 1:30:38sharing that because that's an awesome story and
- 1:30:40congratulations on being part of it, man, That's awesome.
- 1:30:42Awesome. Thank you.
- 1:30:44I, I appreciate it. You know, and it kind of it, it
- 1:30:48was kind of surreal because after the race, yeah, I, I, I
- 1:30:53was running around the back of the pack.
- 1:30:55I, I could have got a little racy with the guys in front of
- 1:30:58me. I toward the end, I could
- 1:30:59actually hold with them a bit. And, but I don't know where I'm
- 1:31:02at lap wise and, and I'm lapsed down, man.
- 1:31:05Last thing you want to do is 'cause some sort of incident.
- 1:31:08Sorry, Adam, we hugged it out. It's OK.
- 1:31:16No, you don't want to cause an incident, stuff like that,
- 1:31:19especially if you're not even on that disease, guys.
- 1:31:21But yeah, so I hung around the back and after the race, I had
- 1:31:24people coming up to me, man, telling me we're rooting for you
- 1:31:28and all this me, I, I, I, I'm you're looking at the wrong end
- 1:31:34of the the the track there. But thank you.
- 1:31:38It was just kind of surreal. I thought that was just the
- 1:31:40coolest thing. Well, again, it's it's that
- 1:31:45story, right? It's kind of like when you think
- 1:31:47about, you know, like, let's say there's a a baseball team that,
- 1:31:52you know, wins all these tournaments and everything.
- 1:31:54And they barely have a budget to do that, but they have a chance
- 1:31:57to go to like the Little League, World Series or some kind of big
- 1:32:00thing, right? You people rally around, right?
- 1:32:02Let's help make this happen. And and again, it's for you know
- 1:32:07who you are as a person, the impression that you leave on a
- 1:32:10lot of people, the the joy that you just seem to have and what
- 1:32:14you do and how you do it. That sticks with people more
- 1:32:17than wins and features and big checks and big trophies.
- 1:32:20Like it's who you are as a person, right?
- 1:32:23And so I think that's that's where, right?
- 1:32:26And that's not saying that those other people who have those
- 1:32:28things aren't, you know, authentic and everything else
- 1:32:30either. But your people want to rally
- 1:32:34for the person who's the underdog, right?
- 1:32:37Like that's you see it in the college football, you see it in
- 1:32:40Pro Football, you see it in everywhere, right?
- 1:32:42Who's the underdog? That's who we that's who we kind
- 1:32:45of rally around, right? The support, get the troops
- 1:32:47around this guy or gal and let's help them, you know, get there.
- 1:32:51So, so again, the when I talked with Steve Stacy and we were
- 1:32:56wondering how many were there, I said, well, if there's 28 or so
- 1:32:59here, I said I would bet they start them all.
- 1:33:01I said we're not going to send home 2 cars.
- 1:33:03Basically. I said we started 25 a few years
- 1:33:05ago, which is the benchmark in my mind.
- 1:33:07So I'm like 3 cars. Is it going to be a good
- 1:33:09difference if they used to start 30?
- 1:33:12But I get it like that's payout and all that.
- 1:33:14So, but when I saw there's 28 and I'm like, and I didn't go to
- 1:33:18the drivers meeting, but I just had a gut feeling.
- 1:33:20I'm like, yeah, they're going to start them all there.
- 1:33:21I would be shocked if they didn't.
- 1:33:23So and and you know, you started towards the end, but you still,
- 1:33:28we're out there and you're still doing the Dang thing.
- 1:33:30So that's what matters, right? And that's why you have people
- 1:33:31behind you, because of who you are.
- 1:33:34Oh, I look at it this way. We spend way, way too much money
- 1:33:41on these things to not have fun. Like I've said multiple,
- 1:33:46multiple times, this this has been a dream of mine.
- 1:33:49This is something I never thought I could do.
- 1:33:52I don't care if I'm first last, I'm going to live in and I'm
- 1:33:57going to have a blast doing it. And and I want the people around
- 1:34:00me, you know, the guys that come down and help me in the the pits
- 1:34:04and stuff like that. I want them to have fun too,
- 1:34:06because they're a part of it, right?
- 1:34:09So yeah, it it's you got to have fun.
- 1:34:12It's way too expensive not to. Otherwise I don't know what are
- 1:34:16we doing. Right.
- 1:34:19So Speaking of fishing, you have a manatee that rides along with
- 1:34:24you, but you also go by the name Flipper.
- 1:34:26So this is the spot where like if you haven't heard our show
- 1:34:29before, we shoot first, aim second.
- 1:34:32Like we don't have scripts or anything that we follow.
- 1:34:34We kind of go wherever the conversation goes.
- 1:34:36So since you just said fishing, I thought Flipper, fish,
- 1:34:39manatee, all these things come together.
- 1:34:41So what, why don't we do that rewind part now where we go back
- 1:34:44to, you know, how did you get the name Flipper?
- 1:34:48You know, how long have you been racing and that kind of deal and
- 1:34:52why you're probably not fishing and you're racing an outlaw lay
- 1:34:55model. So, so kind of let's go that
- 1:34:58rewind part since you did just bring up fishing.
- 1:35:00I'm like, that's a perfect segue.
- 1:35:02That that was beautifully done. No, the nickname Flipper.
- 1:35:12When I first started racing back in 2000 I was racing a little 4
- 1:35:16cylinder truck over on the east side of the state.
- 1:35:19I was about £100 skinnier. I was just all arms, legs and
- 1:35:25big feet. I had a size 14 wide shoe and I
- 1:35:29weighed about £120 soaking wet. I'm walking through the house
- 1:35:34barefoot one day and my brother who's home on leave goes, Jesus,
- 1:35:40where'd you get those whale flippers next?
- 1:35:44Next thing I know, it's painted on the side of my race truck.
- 1:35:46It's painted on my helmet. Truth be told, I hated the
- 1:35:50nickname at first. Obviously it's grown on me a
- 1:35:54little since then, but by the end of the season, there are
- 1:35:58guys I've been racing with all year long that had, they didn't
- 1:36:00know what my real name was the the champion that year came up
- 1:36:04and hey, man, what's your real name anyways?
- 1:36:06It just, and it's, it's kind of been one of them things that
- 1:36:09stuck. And now obviously now I've I've
- 1:36:12grown to like it a little bit. So and then the manatee that you
- 1:36:18brought up totally separate from the flipper thing, my mom is, or
- 1:36:26what I should say was a cancer survivor.
- 1:36:29She had cancer four or five times.
- 1:36:34She moved down to Florida because she's a big she loves
- 1:36:37fishing. That was her thing.
- 1:36:38She loved fishing. So she moved down to Florida to
- 1:36:41fish and she loved the manatees while she was down there and so
- 1:36:47much so that she actually took me and at the time my
- 1:36:51girlfriend, I proposed to her on that specific trip, but at the
- 1:36:55time, my girlfriend on a swimming with the manatee
- 1:36:59excursion. It was just so cool, right?
- 1:37:02So Fast forward and Ma comes down with cancer again and they
- 1:37:08think it's actually from the radiation from one of the first
- 1:37:10go arounds from cancer. Long story short, she passed.
- 1:37:16She passed shortly before Thanksgiving last year, which is
- 1:37:20one of the things that kind of delayed this.
- 1:37:23But manatees and stuff with us was was kind of a thing.
- 1:37:26So at her celebration of life, my, my wonderful wife had
- 1:37:31brought this little stuffed manatee and had it around
- 1:37:34everything. So in a way, mom's with me in
- 1:37:38that manatee and zip tied it to the inside of my car.
- 1:37:43So I, I, yeah, that's, that's my way of, of having my mom ride
- 1:37:46around with me a little bit, if you will.
- 1:37:48So, and she kind of got me on a serious note there.
- 1:37:52I know, I'm sorry. Well, even the tone changed.
- 1:37:54I went. He went from excited to OK, now
- 1:37:56we're a little somber so we'll bring it back up.
- 1:37:58But I mean, just think of how proud, you know, we know she is
- 1:38:01that you got to race in the clash and she got to race with
- 1:38:05you at the clash and and be with you that entire time.
- 1:38:07And and again, that's just something that the story behind
- 1:38:12right, just brings everyone that brings it all together because
- 1:38:15in short track racing, think about, you know, I mean, yeah,
- 1:38:19it has NASCAR and all these things.
- 1:38:20We don't hear about it, right? They celebrated and in like
- 1:38:22October, because that's what that month says.
- 1:38:24It says all this is breast cancer awareness month, just
- 1:38:26like February's Black History Month.
- 1:38:27So check mark for the marketing team.
- 1:38:29OK, we did something Black History Month because it's
- 1:38:31February, right, Where in short track racing, there are no check
- 1:38:34marks or no, there's no itinerary, there's no calendar,
- 1:38:37there's no marketing ploy. It's, you know, we're, we're
- 1:38:41people who live everyday jobs, who, you know, do our best to
- 1:38:44get to the track with what we have and, and right, we're
- 1:38:46budget racing teams or budget whatever.
- 1:38:49Obviously there are some teams that have a little bit more
- 1:38:51backing than others, but even 2, they're on a budget at some
- 1:38:55point. Money is money, right?
- 1:38:57You know. And it does at some point, you
- 1:39:00know. You you can only crash so many
- 1:39:02times before you got to buy, right?
- 1:39:05And but it's one of those things, right?
- 1:39:07Like, again, that's where your story and it all comes together,
- 1:39:11right? That and why you have so many
- 1:39:13people who are behind you, whether it was that super shoe a
- 1:39:16few years ago when you race that super shoe and and I think
- 1:39:18that's when you debuted that late model, right?
- 1:39:20Is that super shoe or a? Late Model.
- 1:39:24Yeah, as I say, different. That's where I corrected.
- 1:39:26I'm like a late model. It wasn't that one, but it like,
- 1:39:31you know, you got to be a part of that.
- 1:39:33Yeah. Well, and then obviously then
- 1:39:35goes the way that you had hoped. There's a lot that went wrong
- 1:39:38for a lot of people at the start of that race, but but it that
- 1:39:43week. Sorry, no, no, no that that
- 1:39:47weekend I figured it out. It cost me almost $1000 a lap.
- 1:39:53Oh wow. That was a very expensive super
- 1:39:57show. Ouch.
- 1:39:59That's. Yeah, that's, yeah, that sounds.
- 1:40:04Good. No.
- 1:40:05So do you want to talk a little bit about your scheme then too
- 1:40:08because you did, you ran a similar scheme a few years ago
- 1:40:11too, right. So if you want to talk a little
- 1:40:13bit about, so do we get back on the high note here, you know a
- 1:40:18little bit about your scheme because the patriotic and that
- 1:40:21kind of deal where that comes from and some of the work that
- 1:40:25you do especially with Flippers garage?
- 1:40:28Yeah, so I had the the blue on the sides and the white on the
- 1:40:34top and stuff like that. And where I looked at it, you
- 1:40:36know, I grew up watching, I don't know if some of you might
- 1:40:40recognize the name gentleman by the name of Dave Stehauer.
- 1:40:44He had a another very patriotic looking late model I thought was
- 1:40:47kind of cool. So as I started to put this car
- 1:40:50together, that's what kind of kept rolling through my head.
- 1:40:53And on top of that, one of my friends that, that helped
- 1:40:56sponsor the car, he has a non profit called a veteran help and
- 1:41:00veteran. And it just it, it tied into it
- 1:41:03so well. And my brother's a, a, a Air
- 1:41:07Force vet, you know, I've got a bunch of friends who are
- 1:41:09veterans. So I just it, it was a no
- 1:41:12brainer for me. And the more, you know, as I've
- 1:41:16done vinyl for years and stuff, and as a vinyl guy, I always
- 1:41:20know when the design is good because I start getting excited
- 1:41:22about it when I'm putting it together and putting it on the
- 1:41:24car. And that's the way this thing
- 1:41:26was. The the more I put the vinyl on,
- 1:41:28I'm like, Oh, this is so cool, you know, and I'm sorry.
- 1:41:32It sounds like I'm Tooting my own horn.
- 1:41:34I know. No, no, me, I, But yeah, it, it
- 1:41:38just I, I, I love the way it laid together and, and the, the
- 1:41:41fan response to it has been incredible.
- 1:41:44I've had every race I've been to, I've had people after the
- 1:41:48races come up to me. Man, I love the paint scheme.
- 1:41:50I love the way the car looks. That's so cool.
- 1:41:53Thank you. Yeah, you know, like I said, the
- 1:41:58my one sponsor, veteran help and veteran, I guess I'll kind of
- 1:42:01segue on this. He's putting together a big
- 1:42:04program with the Berlin Raceway September 11th and 12th.
- 1:42:09They've got celebrating the the the 25th anniversary of
- 1:42:14September 11th, which me being a former firefighter, the
- 1:42:19September 11th always hits a little close to home.
- 1:42:22That was obviously the the, the World Tower and the Pentagon,
- 1:42:29you know, the attacks. And when that happened, 343
- 1:42:33first responders lost their lives.
- 1:42:35I know I'm getting back on a somber note here, but.
- 1:42:37We'll bring it back up. Yeah, it it's coming around.
- 1:42:40Just stay with anyways. 343 first responders lost their
- 1:42:45lives. When you become a firefighter or
- 1:42:46first responder, all of a sudden that stuff really starts to hit
- 1:42:50home to you. And Veteran Health and Veteran
- 1:42:52is putting together a big show at Berlin for the September 11th
- 1:42:56and 12th race, which is great because we're going to be racing
- 1:42:58there with this on the 12th. He's got the the nozzleman from
- 1:43:03Chapter 7. It's a motorcycle club.
- 1:43:05They're going to have a special 343 formation on the front
- 1:43:07stretch. There's the hooligan fly over.
- 1:43:11They're going to have a Humvee parade lap.
- 1:43:13Yeah, it's a lapse of honor at Berlin.
- 1:43:15That's September 12th and the September 11th.
- 1:43:18So nice little Segway and plug on that one.
- 1:43:22I'm excited about it. Obviously Berlin is such a cool
- 1:43:25track and to get to run one of these cars on it, I mean,
- 1:43:29especially this one with the small motor.
- 1:43:32We're we're we're at a huge disadvantage.
- 1:43:34But I don't care. It's it's important to my
- 1:43:37sponsor. It's important to my friend and
- 1:43:39I'm going to go out there and we're going to go and run as
- 1:43:41long as we can and we're going to have fun with it.
- 1:43:44And what's cool about Berlin and this is this.
- 1:43:47I, I, I wish more tracks promoted this after the races.
- 1:43:53It, it is just, it's a part of their culture.
- 1:43:55They mob the pits every then grandstands empty and everybody
- 1:44:00comes down pits and the drivers have left their cars out of the
- 1:44:05trailers. Nobody's loading up because the
- 1:44:08crowd's coming up getting autographs or getting pictures
- 1:44:11and stuff. I had kids in and out of the
- 1:44:12car. It was so cool.
- 1:44:14So if you do make it out to Berlin, make sure to stop by
- 1:44:18after the races. I'd love to see you.
- 1:44:20I'd love to hear from you. Check the car out.
- 1:44:22Yeah, it's going to be a fun time.
- 1:44:25Well, and that's where, you know, that's what I like about
- 1:44:27Kalamazoo. Right after the races, everyone
- 1:44:29comes down to the pit area. There's only a few tracks that
- 1:44:32don't allow fans in the pit area after the races and insurance
- 1:44:36things, whatever. But I'm like, I don't know, all
- 1:44:38these other tracks allow it. So it doesn't make sense to me.
- 1:44:41And they have the same insurance carrier.
- 1:44:43But you know, everyone has different rules and I understand
- 1:44:45that, but because there are only two insurance companies in the
- 1:44:48whole United States that does race tracks.
- 1:44:49So you, yeah, you have one or the other.
- 1:44:51So, but anyways, that's where I know a lot of people around your
- 1:44:55pit area too. And, and it's hard to believe 25
- 1:44:57years already for September 11th.
- 1:44:59I'm like, I'm now that you say that, I'm like, I kind of feel
- 1:45:02old. You know, I was in 8th grade
- 1:45:05when that happened. And and not to make other people
- 1:45:07maybe feel old who are listening, but it's like I
- 1:45:08remember that day. I was in second grade to make
- 1:45:10you feel old. Watch.
- 1:45:15This who's just going to disappear?
- 1:45:18No, I'm kidding. But like I can replay that day.
- 1:45:21It was hat day and the football team played Marshall that Friday
- 1:45:25and it was like, I can play all these things in my head, right
- 1:45:30That, you know, I was standing in this classroom when the tower
- 1:45:33fell. I was standing here when or I
- 1:45:34was sitting here when we were it was like 25 years, though.
- 1:45:38And, and what's funny but not funny because it's not obviously
- 1:45:42funny days, but there's so many people now who are alive who
- 1:45:48don't even know September 11th, right?
- 1:45:50Just like there are people who don't Pearl Harbor.
- 1:45:52We we have some who are just hanging on right but.
- 1:45:55Our first guess was 15 years old tonight, yeah.
- 1:45:57Yeah, that's crazy to think. Yeah.
- 1:46:00We got late, we got late model contenders that weren't 10
- 1:46:03years. Shy of yeah, that's.
- 1:46:04Crazy. So while they may hear about it
- 1:46:07and they may they may wonder because you can watch video, you
- 1:46:10can watch all that kind of deal and kind of see the day play
- 1:46:13out, but it still isn't the same, right.
- 1:46:16And so I think that's the thing that for Berlin to do, you know,
- 1:46:20something especially for for first responders and that sort
- 1:46:24of deal to have that and for you to be working, you know, with
- 1:46:28the veteran group who obviously they fought a long war after all
- 1:46:31that. I mean, that all, you know, that
- 1:46:33all comes into play because I sometimes think like for those
- 1:46:37of us who lived it and experienced it, right, it's
- 1:46:39still there. But how many of the lessons from
- 1:46:42the day that we've all forgotten as we've moved on with our
- 1:46:45lives, right? Like everything, we just move on
- 1:46:46with our lives. And you know, but it's one of
- 1:46:49those that, you know, where I where I was also going to go
- 1:46:53with that when you're saying sorry for the plug is that on
- 1:46:56Mondays, we always have a time in the show where we call it
- 1:46:59Mankind Monday because Mick Foley always said cheap plugs,
- 1:47:03right? You know, cheap pops where how
- 1:47:06we use Chicago, right? Like get the cheap plug because
- 1:47:10when you're faced, you got to get that right.
- 1:47:11So, so cheap plugs are definitely in play, especially
- 1:47:15on a Monday. We call it our mankind moment of
- 1:47:17the Monday so. As a former wrestling fan, I'm
- 1:47:23kind of glad I I filled that little category.
- 1:47:25Yeah, yeah, because last Monday we didn't get a cheap plug in at
- 1:47:29all. And I remembered it's, I think I
- 1:47:32remembered on Thursday when I was doing the Clash tickets
- 1:47:34where I'm like, hey, I didn't get a cheap plug on Monday, so
- 1:47:36I'm going to do all my cheap plugs tonight on Thursday.
- 1:47:39But so yeah, fair game, all cheap plugs matter.
- 1:47:42And because that's, you know, that's a Mick Foley throwback,
- 1:47:45so. So again, And for the other
- 1:47:48Jenner and Mick Foley was an old wrestler.
- 1:47:53He's still around, though. He's still a wrest.
- 1:47:56Well, he doesn't wrestle. But he doesn't say.
- 1:47:58What? Yeah.
- 1:47:59Well, he's with AEW now. He went to the other side.
- 1:48:02Yeah, he went to the other side of things.
- 1:48:04And so so. For dude love.
- 1:48:07Yeah, at this. Point he's with AARP.
- 1:48:11Yeah, yeah, he might even be sponsored by them.
- 1:48:13I don't know, but but yeah, so, so with that, when you think
- 1:48:18about your racing career, right, you know, obviously you're doing
- 1:48:22late models right now, but there was someone who commented, hey,
- 1:48:24didn't you used to race this? So I know you and Matt Kemp have
- 1:48:28like a background. And so if you want to talk a
- 1:48:30little bit about the different things that you have raced in
- 1:48:32your career. Man, I it it, it sounds like
- 1:48:40boasting, but I've been incredibly fortunate.
- 1:48:44I started out racing little 4 cylinder pickup trucks.
- 1:48:48That was the Class S 10s Rangers.
- 1:48:51There's a little Toyota from there.
- 1:48:53I've raced just about everything up to a late model.
- 1:48:58The only thing short track wise I haven't been behind the wheel
- 1:49:02of now is a modified and a Sprint car.
- 1:49:05They're both on my bucket list. Again, I'm just extremely
- 1:49:09fortunate. I used to race with the the
- 1:49:11short track Truck Series, used to travel around Michigan, Ohio,
- 1:49:15Indiana. Got to race some really cool
- 1:49:16tracks doing that. You guys were talking to Chloe
- 1:49:19about Winchester earlier. I got Grace there and such a
- 1:49:23cool experience. You know, funny thing about that
- 1:49:28is the old short track truck motor is what's in this.
- 1:49:32No kidding. This was built in 2006.
- 1:49:38It sat since 2008. All I did was prime it and throw
- 1:49:42some battle springs in it and the way we went.
- 1:49:45So I was crossing my fingers for 120 laps.
- 1:49:52Well, so while we even talk about that, right, we have a
- 1:49:57question in here. What's next on your bucket list?
- 1:49:59Since you did the Clash and your fingers obviously crossed long
- 1:50:02enough that you got almost all the way through that race,
- 1:50:05what's next for you? You know, right now I got to
- 1:50:10soak this up. I don't know how long I can do
- 1:50:13this. So I'm I'm going to live it up
- 1:50:15as much as I can. Sprint cars and modifieds, like
- 1:50:18I said, are on on my bucket list.
- 1:50:21Dirt late models. I mean, cool.
- 1:50:24You know, I one of the ones that I have tried and tried and it's
- 1:50:32been so close. I want to race against my son.
- 1:50:37We've been on the track at the same time but the the first time
- 1:50:41was Owosso with the mini cups and it rained.
- 1:50:44Oh no. They were this close, right went
- 1:50:48out to he he ended up driving a friend's car at the little
- 1:50:52Owosso, the dirt track, and I ended up pulling off with a
- 1:50:56couple laps in because the car just wasn't right.
- 1:50:59So we've been close, but that's one of the ones I, I really
- 1:51:02would like to do is I'd love to race against my son.
- 1:51:05To me, that's just, you know, that huge proud dad moment.
- 1:51:08And I can't wait to spin him out.
- 1:51:14Joking. You're joking.
- 1:51:16You know, having said that, inevitably it'll happen because
- 1:51:19of Murphy. But I just, I don't know, I'm,
- 1:51:27I'm living it up right now with this.
- 1:51:29Yeah. I'd I'd love the opportunity to
- 1:51:31race one of these other classes. Realistically, probably not
- 1:51:34going to happen it it just not within my budget.
- 1:51:37But man, one of the things that I I actually got to check off
- 1:51:42without really even realizing it this year.
- 1:51:45I always wanted to have one of my designs because I've done
- 1:51:49vinyl for since like 2006. I always wanted to have
- 1:51:55televised to me. That's just be so cool to see it
- 1:51:59on. Well, between flow and and and
- 1:52:03the racing America and these all these programs.
- 1:52:06This thing's been on TVI didn't even I mean very quick, you
- 1:52:10know, leader goes by and there I am, but it's been on TV, so I
- 1:52:16got to check that off. It counts.
- 1:52:18You know it counts. It is.
- 1:52:22It's like up there I am. OK, so that was one of the the
- 1:52:26items, you know, some of the more far fetched stuff driving a
- 1:52:33monster truck. I mean, again, this is this is
- 1:52:35up there, but I mean, how cool would that be?
- 1:52:38I I not a competition anything like that, but just to get
- 1:52:42behind the wheel and drive over something that'd be on a similar
- 1:52:48note, being an announcer, I'd love to call a monster truck
- 1:52:53show. You know, when I used to
- 1:52:56announce like at Springport and stuff, I used to have theme
- 1:53:00songs and theme music for the cars to pull out on.
- 1:53:02And you get the crowd going, which is great because you could
- 1:53:05just start a certain song and the crowd starts cheering your
- 1:53:09intro line. You're like, yeah, that, that's
- 1:53:12my line. But cool, you know, it's cool
- 1:53:16you get to do that with monster trucks in a big way, I mean.
- 1:53:20Yeah. Bad to the bone place.
- 1:53:22Everybody knows who that is, you know, Thunderstruck, this Blue
- 1:53:26Thunder that might be a little outdated now, but calling the
- 1:53:29Monster Truck tower would just be so cool.
- 1:53:31So that's definitely one of the things that's on my bucket list.
- 1:53:36Yeah, it just, I've been very fortunate.
- 1:53:39I've been able to cross a lot of really cool things off.
- 1:53:42You know, racing Super Shoot was one of those things back in the
- 1:53:48day. I was so close.
- 1:53:50We had the old short track truck ready.
- 1:53:52We were going to race, but then financials fell through because
- 1:53:55I went to college. So it just every time we tried
- 1:53:59to raise super shoes, something would fall through.
- 1:54:00And then the one year you guys were talking about Andy Jack,
- 1:54:05I'm, I'm sorry, we're going to go down story time here, but.
- 1:54:08I love it. I love Dream Jack stories
- 1:54:10though. I got, I got a message from Andy
- 1:54:14Jack and it's Friday of super shooting.
- 1:54:16It's like, hey, I got a car, You want to drive it?
- 1:54:20Yeah. And so I up at the track and
- 1:54:23it's not running. It's like, oh, it's just got a
- 1:54:26fuel pump switch. No, the fuel pump was was dead.
- 1:54:29So I'm like, oh, you know what way up here?
- 1:54:34Well, my buddy John Culp, Union City Speed Shop, he's there.
- 1:54:38He's got his late model and a front wheel drive 4 cylinder and
- 1:54:41he comes up and he's like, I'm having too hard a time jumping
- 1:54:45back and forth between the two. You want to drive the 4
- 1:54:48cylinder? Yeah, it's super cute.
- 1:54:51Drive anything right now. So I jump in and the the first
- 1:54:55practice session I got together with another car, ended up
- 1:54:59tangled up into the wall. I'm like, oh, come on it just so
- 1:55:03we get back into the fix, get the car fixed, cool, we're back
- 1:55:06at it. Long story short, ended up
- 1:55:09winning the heat race, ended up winning the future and it was a
- 1:55:13party afterwards we had a laugh. Super Shoot hasn't been quite so
- 1:55:20kind to me since then. Used up all your luck.
- 1:55:26Yeah, I, yeah, I did. I used it all up and and, and
- 1:55:29you know what's funny about that though, is having having raced
- 1:55:32all these different tracks and, and having run all these
- 1:55:35different races and now Kalamazoo Clash, that first win
- 1:55:39at Super Shoe still ranks us as one of my top three biggest wins
- 1:55:44in a little 4 cylinder car. Yeah.
- 1:55:48It doesn't matter the class man, have fun with it and make it
- 1:55:52your own. The the most fun I have racing
- 1:55:56is in these still little mini cup cars.
- 1:55:59Dollar for dollar most fun I've ever had racing.
- 1:56:03And you know what the best part about it is?
- 1:56:05You wipe the right front off the car, you're out 200 bucks.
- 1:56:09I don't 200 bucks in fuel in this thing right, right.
- 1:56:15So sorry, I kind of veered off. Hey, remember, shoot first, aim
- 1:56:22second. We go where we go, you know, we
- 1:56:24don't. We don't.
- 1:56:25That's why I mean, quite frankly, that's why we get a lot
- 1:56:28of compliments about the Monday Night Rewind is because it's a
- 1:56:31lot of people have said it's like sitting in a a pit area,
- 1:56:36you know, at a round a trailer or after the races or whatever,
- 1:56:39popping up in a cold one and just talking, right.
- 1:56:41So, so that's where you know, it's like we go where we go.
- 1:56:47That's part of the journey of each Monday night here.
- 1:56:49So that's what I could ask you a question.
- 1:56:53You could go off on a big tangent.
- 1:56:54I'd go are you a politician? Because you did that really
- 1:56:56well, right? But but no, I because this all
- 1:56:59matters, right? And how you're and why these
- 1:57:02moments stand out again, why people like you, why people
- 1:57:05support you, why people are behind you because of just what
- 1:57:09you represent right. So I think even someone in here
- 1:57:12it was Betty, I believe, and she's down at new Paris and
- 1:57:16Betty will tell you what she thinks by the way, she's you
- 1:57:18know, she does not hold back whatsoever.
- 1:57:21And that's what I love about her she's so sweet, but she'll
- 1:57:24definitely say it how it is and she's like, wow, love this
- 1:57:27flippers excitement. That's what our sport needs.
- 1:57:29When you have someone like a Betty Berkley giving you an
- 1:57:32endorsement, if you ever get a chance to come down to New Paris
- 1:57:34and meet her, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
- 1:57:37Like, she's so sweet, but I've also seen her get angry too.
- 1:57:41And I'm like, I'm staying on the roof because she's unhappy right
- 1:57:44now. And it's I'm not going to go
- 1:57:45experience that. But you know, for her to say
- 1:57:48something like that, that definitely stands out so.
- 1:57:53I take that as quite the compliment.
- 1:57:54Thank you, Betty. Yeah, from Betty for sure.
- 1:57:58And then, oh, this. OK, so, so Buju, I regretted my
- 1:58:02camera angle because Flipper has a thing, a mount on the side of
- 1:58:08his car. Here's the question.
- 1:58:11So what's up with the lights and the light model during pace
- 1:58:14laps? Actually, it's all race by the
- 1:58:16way, too. He did.
- 1:58:17I don't think you turned them off during the race.
- 1:58:19I think they were on the whole time.
- 1:58:21No, I have to turn them off. I I can't see Blair's too much.
- 1:58:26So maybe then. Because I'm like, I felt like
- 1:58:28they were on at some point in the race, but maybe not.
- 1:58:30Maybe I was seeing things, but it's like that blue is out there
- 1:58:32so. You know, I, I, I joke around,
- 1:58:41if you can't run up front, you got to get fans somehow.
- 1:58:44You got to be creative. So I put lights on the car.
- 1:58:48Really what it is is you turn the lights on.
- 1:58:53Every single kid in that grandstand's going.
- 1:58:56Yep. And that's just so cool.
- 1:58:59You know, you get the kids fired up about it.
- 1:59:01And I'm a big kid myself. I'm one of the guys in the
- 1:59:04grandstand going, you know, give them something to cheer for,
- 1:59:10give them something to get fired up about.
- 1:59:11The kids are going to love it. They're going to want to come
- 1:59:13back. So that's really what it is.
- 1:59:16It's just something kind of fun. And I I knew kids would love it
- 1:59:20so. I mean, it stood out to me when
- 1:59:22I noticed because I like, oh, maybe it was pay slash, I don't
- 1:59:26know. All I know is I'm like, hey,
- 1:59:28it's lit up. Not only is your car easy to
- 1:59:31find because it's blue and white and red and not black like most
- 1:59:35cars are, which I know is just easier for a lot of people with
- 1:59:38the black, but it stands out. It has different colors.
- 1:59:41Obviously that's a very patriotic theme, so that stands
- 1:59:43out too. But then the blue lights with
- 1:59:45it, I'm like, man, that is awesome.
- 1:59:47So cuz I, I even think I came up to him like I didn't know you
- 1:59:51had lights. I, I must have missed something
- 1:59:53somewhere because I'm like, that was just really cool.
- 1:59:57Instantly after I'm like, I should have put my mouth on the
- 1:59:59outside of the car because we could have got all those lights.
- 2:00:01So I remember that for sure. I said after the race, like,
- 2:00:04man, I missed an opportunity there to blue light special.
- 2:00:07That's what we talked about, you know, but he was also working on
- 2:00:10his car because they were fixing something.
- 2:00:11So I tried to not be in the way too long but.
- 2:00:14You're you're, you're not in the way and like I said before, it's
- 2:00:17an honor having you, you're riding along with us.
- 2:00:20I think that's so cool what you do the, the, the exposure you
- 2:00:24bring to the local racers is I don't think you give yourself
- 2:00:28enough credit. So thank you for that.
- 2:00:30As one of those local racers, and I said it clash, you know, I
- 2:00:35feel honored to have one of your cameras in my car.
- 2:00:38I, I, I appreciate what you do. I I think it's so cool.
- 2:00:41I love watching the videos, so my little props to you there.
- 2:00:46As far as on the outside of the car there, I mean super shoe.
- 2:00:51Yeah, yeah, Yeah. Well, that's because I'll start
- 2:00:55taking sign ups here in a couple weeks because I mean, if you
- 2:00:58think about it, we're almost what, a month away from super
- 2:01:01shoe now? I think it's a month, you know,
- 2:01:03a month from now. So it's like, I mean, we crown
- 2:01:06champions on Friday and then we have two weeks off and it's a
- 2:01:10night of destruction and then or one week off, 2 weeks off.
- 2:01:12I think it's two weeks off and then we have another week or so
- 2:01:15off and it's super shoe and it's just, it's crazy how it's
- 2:01:18already coming all the way, you know all.
- 2:01:21The way where did this go? I, I don't know, like that's the
- 2:01:26thing, even sitting in New Paris, which hasn't had a lot of
- 2:01:28rain outs, I think they've had like 2 rain outs maybe their
- 2:01:32whole season 1 one or two. Like they've not been rained out
- 2:01:35a lot. They've actually beat the,
- 2:01:37beaten the rain a couple times. And it's like, man, it's already
- 2:01:41season championship and it just feels like we were just doing
- 2:01:43trifecta race one in May and we were just doing the first night
- 2:01:47of destruction. And it's just crazy, right?
- 2:01:51That's why it's like I, you know, I keep telling people get
- 2:01:53out to the racetrack like it's so easy to be like, well, I
- 2:01:56could probably go next week. Just go now because if we're all
- 2:02:00I've done this before. I mean, I was out of racing for
- 2:02:0210 years. We'd stopped going when my mom
- 2:02:05was getting was going through her second round of breast
- 2:02:08cancer. We had stopped his finances just
- 2:02:10didn't allow us to go to the races anymore.
- 2:02:13It barely allowed me to go to college and and all these other
- 2:02:16things. And so we're just out of racing
- 2:02:18for my light keeps turning off. We are out of rate, clap on,
- 2:02:24clap off. See, we are out of like I was
- 2:02:27out of racing until I went to South Bend in 2017 for the first
- 2:02:30time in a long time. That's the first time I was at
- 2:02:32racetrack and then just from there.
- 2:02:34And so I tell people like, I'll go next week, I'll go next week
- 2:02:37to go now, because next week's not guaranteed, right?
- 2:02:40Like we got to, we got to get out to these tracks.
- 2:02:43We got to support them, especially now because pretty
- 2:02:45much their ability to earn money, you know, from the
- 2:02:49season, because they're, I promise you, most tracks are not
- 2:02:52profitable. They're barely scratching by
- 2:02:54right? And, and a lot of times people
- 2:02:56think they're profitable. It's like that, that $6 hot dog
- 2:03:00probably still cost them this much to make and replenish and
- 2:03:02all that. Like they're not making all this
- 2:03:04money that you think they are. And sponsor money doesn't cover
- 2:03:07the purse anymore. Or you're like, it barely covers
- 2:03:09the purse. In some places it doesn't even
- 2:03:12cover the first place. So, you know, it's like just
- 2:03:16like let's get out and support because we're right, we're
- 2:03:19winding down. I mean, New Paris has four
- 2:03:21events now, I think left. Kalamazoo has season
- 2:03:24Championship, Night of Destruction and Super Shoe.
- 2:03:28So they're down to three because there's no bad Santa this year
- 2:03:31that enduro's being moved somewhere else at some point in
- 2:03:34time. And so it's like you only have a
- 2:03:37couple times to get out to Kalamazoo, you only have a
- 2:03:39couple times to get out to M40. So it's like it's it's winding
- 2:03:42down here. We need to see clap on, clap off
- 2:03:44and shut off again. But yeah, whatever, it's fine.
- 2:03:49It just looks like a low budget show for a moment, but it's like
- 2:03:51I can't afford. I could go upstairs and be in
- 2:03:54light, but I'm like, it's too nice to be out, you know,
- 2:03:56upstairs. So I mean, we're closer to snow
- 2:03:59than we are. Rain showers bring May flowers,
- 2:04:01just so everybody knows, but. There's this over ring thought.
- 2:04:08Yeah, we've kind of had ups and downs, right?
- 2:04:10But, but other than that, I know you said super shoe, you talked
- 2:04:13about your Berlin race on September 11th and 12th.
- 2:04:16So where else could people see you?
- 2:04:18Because I you're not doing reveal, so you're not racing
- 2:04:20with reveal. So what else?
- 2:04:23Where else can they see the F17 this year?
- 2:04:27For the late model, those are really the only two shows I got
- 2:04:31left. We, we, we've kicked around the
- 2:04:34idea of new Paris, but you, you have to have a certain amount of
- 2:04:39horsepower to pull yourself up off the corner there.
- 2:04:42Even with the Truck Series, it was noticeable.
- 2:04:45These things hook up way better than anything I've ever driven.
- 2:04:50I just, I feel like especially as tight a track as it is, I'd
- 2:04:54just be in the way and I, I don't want to tear up equipment,
- 2:04:58mine or somebody else's, just because I, I know what I've got
- 2:05:02and then it I'm fine with it. To give you an idea, I mentioned
- 2:05:09the engine in this from the old church.
- 2:05:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a three O 5.
- 2:05:15It has stock Vortec heads, it's got a a hydraulic Cam, it's got
- 2:05:21a decent intake and a good carburetor.
- 2:05:24It's about 320 to 330 horse. There's not much pulling on that
- 2:05:31thing. So, you know, at Berlin, I went
- 2:05:34out there and I'd race there with the the Truck Series and I
- 2:05:37kind of thought, well, it's not a motor track.
- 2:05:39It's a big momentum track. And, and with the trucks it was
- 2:05:43like that you you kind of had to play the throttle and all that.
- 2:05:45Well, first time out with this and it just hooked immediately
- 2:05:50and I went, oh, I am so in trouble.
- 2:05:53And yeah, there 22 cars every straightaway.
- 2:05:56Shoot, shoot, cool. It was kind of cool.
- 2:06:02I mean, you're you're watching talk about the catbird seat,
- 2:06:05watching these guys fighting for the lead and you're like, oh,
- 2:06:08yeah. But it will.
- 2:06:12It was cool. But again, I know what I have.
- 2:06:15I don't want to cause a wreck. I feel like at a especially a
- 2:06:19tight track like in Paris, man, I'm just going to be in the way.
- 2:06:22So we're not going to go there. We're going to run Berlin.
- 2:06:25Yeah, I know they're going to blow by me.
- 2:06:27But again, my sponsor, he's got a big show going together.
- 2:06:31I'm going to go there, support him.
- 2:06:32We're going to have some fun with it.
- 2:06:34Again, the the crowd there is amazing.
- 2:06:36Super shoe. Super shoe.
- 2:06:39How can you not? Well, I know how you cannot
- 2:06:42because I've already lost one car there.
- 2:06:44But. And who?
- 2:06:47Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.
- 2:06:51I'm going to run the little mini cup car.
- 2:06:54We've got a race this weekend at Owosso Cart Speedway Motorsports
- 2:06:59Park, little fifth mile track again, dollar for dollar, most
- 2:07:03fun I've ever had in a race car. And then that's kind of going to
- 2:07:10round it out for my season. You know, when you're budget
- 2:07:15racing, you, you kind of pick and choose your shows and, and
- 2:07:19on top of that, just as busy as life is only running a handful
- 2:07:23of shows isn't bad. You know, I, I can still go out
- 2:07:26and do things with my wife. I can still go out and do things
- 2:07:28with my kid. And, you know, when I was
- 2:07:31younger, I, I was such a die hard racer was, I was racing,
- 2:07:36you know, 234 times a week if I could.
- 2:07:40And, and there were a few weeks where I did race four times a
- 2:07:42week. You get older, your perspective
- 2:07:46starts to change a little bit, you know, and all of a sudden,
- 2:07:50yeah, I could go racing, but kind of really want to go
- 2:07:52camping with my wife. Right, right.
- 2:07:55That's that's not bad. So younger kids will get there
- 2:08:00someday. Well, that's for a few weeks
- 2:08:03ago. Since I became top row, I hadn't
- 2:08:05missed a race unless it rained out, but mom had tickets to
- 2:08:09that. Chili Peppers or chili baseball?
- 2:08:13The cosmic chili team. I think it's Chili Peppers,
- 2:08:17whatever they are, but they played at Grand Rapids at the
- 2:08:205th 3rd. No, it's not 5th 3rd park
- 2:08:22anymore, it's LMCU ballpark. Or whatever.
- 2:08:26But she had tickets for that for a long time and then they were
- 2:08:29going to cancel because she's like, well, Kenny Wallace is at
- 2:08:31Kalamazoo, so you should be there.
- 2:08:32And I went, I'm not going to Kalamazoo.
- 2:08:34I, you know, this is something she'd look forward to.
- 2:08:37I was at Kalamazoo on her birthday.
- 2:08:39I was at M40 on Father's Day. I was at M40 on Mother's Day.
- 2:08:42Like I've been at, or maybe Corrigan was one of those dates
- 2:08:45and M40 was the other. But I'm like, I've been at
- 2:08:47racetrack and all these days for many years and it's like, Nope,
- 2:08:51you have tickets for this. You've been excited for this for
- 2:08:53a really long time, right? So why would I cancel?
- 2:08:57You know, I've, I've always been a big believer in family 1st and
- 2:09:00then it's like it's time for me to live that for a moment.
- 2:09:02It's OK that I'm not at a racetrack on one of these
- 2:09:04nights. There are other people to cover
- 2:09:06it and I don't I don't need to be there, right?
- 2:09:09And so that was kind of refreshing, you know, to have
- 2:09:13family time on a race night. It's like, yeah, my my skin was
- 2:09:18kind of ticking, like I should be doing this right now or
- 2:09:20should be doing that right now because I know racing was
- 2:09:23happening, right? And you're when you're in a
- 2:09:25routine, but it's like, but I was so excited to be at the
- 2:09:28game. I was so excited to be there
- 2:09:30experience. And I and I think sometimes,
- 2:09:33right, that it's nice to step away from the racetrack.
- 2:09:37And I haven't done that a lot until then.
- 2:09:39And that was nice, like I enjoyed it like so I, I think
- 2:09:46sometimes we need to ground ourselves again because points
- 2:09:48racing gets stressful. You know, that's why I like
- 2:09:50night of destructions a lot because they're there to crash
- 2:09:54stuff. You know, they don't, you know,
- 2:09:55they they'll go get a new car and no big deal.
- 2:09:58And but it's laid. Back.
- 2:10:00Where I'm points night, right, everything's just kind of
- 2:10:02stressful and uppity and you know, it's just different,
- 2:10:06right? And so cuz there's money on the
- 2:10:07line, there's lots of things on the line.
- 2:10:09So, so sometimes it's like, OK, you can kind of feel the tension
- 2:10:13on some nights. So like I know there's going to
- 2:10:16be a lot of stress this Friday for a lot of people.
- 2:10:18So like I already know, like, OK, I just need to have my Pepsi
- 2:10:23ready to go and get on the roof and be ready.
- 2:10:26And but other than that, you know, because I already know
- 2:10:29like some groups and some teams are just going to be stressed
- 2:10:31because it's the last night and points are on the line and
- 2:10:34there's a lot on them. There's still two class or two,
- 2:10:37three classes I think that are not decided yet.
- 2:10:39So there's a lot of pressure, right?
- 2:10:41So it's like, OK, just keep myself grounded, keep myself
- 2:10:44grounded, keep myself grounded. So I get like the camping and,
- 2:10:47and doing those moments and having that.
- 2:10:49Because there are people who you talk to now who are like, man, I
- 2:10:52wish I would have went camping a few years ago.
- 2:10:54I wish I would have done this. And I think if you get to that
- 2:10:56wish part, it's like you don't want to do that later, you know,
- 2:11:00where your wife is like, man, even though she supports you
- 2:11:03doing this, right, Like, man, I, you know, we would have, we
- 2:11:06really could have went and done this trip and you know, and now
- 2:11:08we don't get that opportunity, you know, whatever it may be.
- 2:11:11So definitely can't turn those kind of things down.
- 2:11:15And, and and don't get me wrong, some of my best memories are at
- 2:11:20the racetrack. Some of my best friends made at
- 2:11:22the racetrack. It's just, you know, as you get
- 2:11:25older, your perspective changes and there are people who their
- 2:11:28whole families, the racetrack is, is where it's at and that's
- 2:11:32awesome and it's complete. More power to you.
- 2:11:36Not saying that that that's a bad thing by any means.
- 2:11:40You just, you got to kind of find your own.
- 2:11:43And and as I. Got older, you know, every now
- 2:11:45and then going camp and going fishing, it ain't all that.
- 2:11:49They don't always have to be at the racetrack.
- 2:11:51So the reveal of the Hammer series, you know, they've got,
- 2:11:55you know, what was it, 5 kills this year?
- 2:11:58They think they had eight last year.
- 2:11:59That's about perfect for where I'm at in my life.
- 2:12:02So yeah, it's man, this year went by fast so.
- 2:12:08Yep, what I know your wife has been on the on the in the chat
- 2:12:13area a lot too. So I know we're definitely, you
- 2:12:16know, we've had almost an hour. So we're we're keeping you away
- 2:12:18from her for a little bit. So I know you have things to get
- 2:12:22ready and do and enjoy that family time, you know, every
- 2:12:25night. And so that's where, again, I
- 2:12:28just appreciate you, you know, being able to come on tonight
- 2:12:31and tell your story, you know, for Boozoo.
- 2:12:33Oh, though, before I forget, Boozoo, did you did you have any
- 2:12:36questions or anything? Because I know you're learning a
- 2:12:38lot, right? So, yeah, but I don't want to.
- 2:12:40I almost cut you off. I don't mean to cut you off, but
- 2:12:44sorry, that's my mistake. No, you're all good.
- 2:12:47We're getting past my bedtime here.
- 2:12:49I'm about to turn into a pumpkin anyway, but OK, I'll ask a
- 2:12:51couple of my standards. Favorite racetrack?
- 2:12:53Kyle. You know, probably I I would say
- 2:12:592 non operational now. The old half mile at Tri-City
- 2:13:06Motor Speedway. If you ever get a chance look up
- 2:13:10old YouTube videos. It was a left-handed Rd. course.
- 2:13:14Legit five turns elevation changes.
- 2:13:17You're going up and down banking, no banking.
- 2:13:20It was insane. It was such a cool track.
- 2:13:25Favorite track current. I mean, Winchester, Winchester,
- 2:13:30what absolute blast there. I'd love to get back there
- 2:13:38someday, so. Would you Would you run there?
- 2:13:42I ran the the short track truck there, almost get around there
- 2:13:46without lifting. Yeah.
- 2:13:48Oh man, you got. Screaming around.
- 2:13:52You're you're yeah, it's the, it's that track is so cool
- 2:13:56because you go into the corner and everywhere else you're
- 2:13:59looking here off to the side at Winchester, you're looking up
- 2:14:03here and there's no sideways G forces.
- 2:14:07It's just right down in the sea. I've not been in Winchester yet,
- 2:14:13but each year I have someone who's like just come on down,
- 2:14:15come on down and obvious. And I have I've had a chance to
- 2:14:18connect with Dan Redmond because of the Boers Compact series.
- 2:14:20And so him and I talked earlier this year at the 500 Tour media
- 2:14:25day where he said, yeah, Someone Like You can't just show up,
- 2:14:29you're a little too big now. And, and he said, but you know,
- 2:14:34we'll see what we can do. So, so that's where I, I don't
- 2:14:38think it's going to work in my schedule based on how
- 2:14:40everything's panning out right now with some other Bahama
- 2:14:43brackets and other things going on.
- 2:14:44At some point, you know, money does come into play and I got to
- 2:14:47be able to afford to to go to some of these places in Bahama
- 2:14:51is in Grundy, Illinois. That's or not Grundy Morris, but
- 2:14:54Grundy County that's going to require hotel stay and all that.
- 2:14:57So obviously that's going to cost them money.
- 2:14:59So I need to figure out a way to afford some things now at this
- 2:15:04point to do some of these post season shows.
- 2:15:06But but that's where, you know, Winchester's definitely a bucket
- 2:15:10list to get down there. So because I mean it just it
- 2:15:13looks fun so. It won't disappoint.
- 2:15:17But but like I said, I know we've kept you way long.
- 2:15:20Your wife is probably like 40 minutes.
- 2:15:22It's almost an hour, bub. So and you've been on actually a
- 2:15:25little longer than that. We were a few minutes behind
- 2:15:27with Poland Jews number things or name things.
- 2:15:30So again, congratulations to Chris Elwell for getting that
- 2:15:35and heading off to Birch Run in the 95 front wheel drive.
- 2:15:38But other than that, Kyle, like I excuse me, flipper.
- 2:15:42Oh, I said. I wasn't going to call him Kyle
- 2:15:46the rest of the night after that first introduction.
- 2:15:48But Flipper? They call him Muttworth, so
- 2:15:51either one more. So again, you know, definitely
- 2:15:55thank you for joining. You get to be a part of the
- 2:15:57closing here a little bit. So I'm going to keep you on
- 2:15:59screen. I do want to remind everyone
- 2:16:01that you can throttle up with us this Thursday night on the
- 2:16:03Thursday night's throttle where we preview the upcoming weekend.
- 2:16:07I just know that Buju and I, we're going to do 2 weekly shows
- 2:16:11left of the throttle and then we're going to start phasing it
- 2:16:14out where after that we're going to go down to every other week
- 2:16:18just to open up some Thursdays for us, especially as the season
- 2:16:21gets lighter. And so the Monday night rewind
- 2:16:24will change some format, not much because we have a good
- 2:16:28formula going with what we do here by shooting first, aim
- 2:16:30second. But there will be some things
- 2:16:32that we'll pull from Thursday's housekeeping items, you can call
- 2:16:36them parking lot items that will include on Mondays going
- 2:16:39forward, probably at the last part of the show.
- 2:16:42And then starting in November, we're going to go down to once a
- 2:16:46month. So October is going to be like
- 2:16:47that transition month, September and October transition.
- 2:16:50And then we're because you got Thanksgiving and Christmas and
- 2:16:53New Year's and all these holidays that Thursdays just
- 2:16:57seem to run into that. Also, a quick little note for
- 2:17:00the Monday night rewind on Labor Day weekend, that Monday we will
- 2:17:04not be doing a show just because that is such a huge travel day
- 2:17:08for a lot of people that we're going to have that Monday off.
- 2:17:10But that week we're going to do a Wednesday show, which will
- 2:17:14take place of the Thursday night Throttle and Monday night
- 2:17:17Rewind. So we're going to do a Wednesday
- 2:17:18show that week, similar format to Monday Night Rewind.
- 2:17:21In fact, they'll probably be called the Monday night Rewind
- 2:17:23on a Wednesday. We'll just adjust to that
- 2:17:25accordingly. But I'm not changing the logo.
- 2:17:28We're it's going to be the Monday night Rewind just a few
- 2:17:30days later. And one note that I do want to
- 2:17:34add to is that I want champions to reach out because I want to
- 2:17:38do champions shows where we interview champions 1015 minute
- 2:17:41slots, not full interviews like what we do normally do on a
- 2:17:45Monday, but like quick little come on, talk about your
- 2:17:47championship, think who you want to thank and just kind of get
- 2:17:51out there. So I know a few more
- 2:17:53championships are still being decided.
- 2:17:54So I'll be putting something out on Facebook for that notice.
- 2:17:57And that can that's open to any track.
- 2:18:00Plymouth, South Bend, Angola, Kalamazoo, M40, Hartford,
- 2:18:04Owosso, Corrigan, Arthur Raceway Park, wherever you are.
- 2:18:10If you want to come on again, we'll have 10 to 15 minutes.
- 2:18:12You could be in Iowa for all I care, because it's a it's a your
- 2:18:16chance and your opportunity to come on and talk about your
- 2:18:18championship because the win championship is an accolade in
- 2:18:21itself. And so let's celebrate that.
- 2:18:23So wherever you are, it's open to any track, any series, MCR
- 2:18:27dwarfs, doesn't matter. So again, we've been talking
- 2:18:30with almost say it again, Flipper.
- 2:18:34I'm struck out, struck out. We've been talking with Flipper
- 2:18:37again. Follow on Flipper's garage where
- 2:18:39you can see his YouTube channel. Also on Facebook.
- 2:18:42He has clips and reels and everything on there that he does
- 2:18:45in his daily life. Of course, again, you'll get to
- 2:18:47see him at a few more tracks in the year.
- 2:18:49So certainly follow Filper's Garage on Facebook to see where
- 2:18:53he's heading next. Other than that, it's our
- 2:18:56favorite time of the night that now I have Dalton Irish in my
- 2:19:00head every time it gets to this point where I have to do it
- 2:19:02almost exact. So I'm going to pause so I don't
- 2:19:05mess it up like I did last week. All right, Buju, it's almost
- 2:19:08time to turn left and go fast because.
- 2:19:11We'll see you at the races. Flipper.
- 2:19:14Last word. Yeah, I thank you for having me
- 2:19:18on again. I appreciate what both of you
- 2:19:21guys are doing, getting, getting the local guys in a little bit
- 2:19:24of limelight. It's it's so cool.
- 2:19:26It's it's truly been an honor to to to be on the program with you
- 2:19:29guys. Thank you.
- 2:19:31Again, thank you and we'll see you all at the races.
- 2:19:35At the races.
