  SPEAKER_00: Now, here on this podcast, we talk a lot about creativity and habits, but I want to shift gears for a little while and emphasize more of the business side of writing.

  SPEAKER_00: Now, you might know, or maybe you don't know, that about a year ago I left my full-time job as a college professor to do ghost writing full-time.

  SPEAKER_00: That's my main gig, but I also run the Daily Writer Club, which is our membership community, as well as produce this daily podcast, and I also am working on my own books as well.

  SPEAKER_00: Most writers have a desire to make money and to build either a part-time or a full-time career with their writing.

  SPEAKER_00: So we're going to lean into this topic for a little while, this topic of building a business with your writing.

  SPEAKER_00: And as I've thought about my own journey and as I have examined the journey of many other writers I know who have a successful writing business, I've distilled this down into seven key components.

  SPEAKER_00: And I call each of these keys or each of these steps milestones as we go throughout this series.

  SPEAKER_00: So that's the terminology that we're going to use is milestones for each of these seven components.

  SPEAKER_00: Now, before I give you these seven steps or seven milestones, let me share with you the key idea of what this whole idea of the writer's path is all about.

  SPEAKER_00: Building a writing-based business is a sequential, achievable process to help you build a multifaceted, robust writing business based on a growing network and multiple streams of income.

  SPEAKER_00: Now let's break this down into seven clear steps, and these are the seven milestones of the writer's path.

  SPEAKER_00: Number one, clarify a powerful message for a specific audience.

  SPEAKER_00: Number two, build the platforms where you will share your content.

  SPEAKER_00: Number three, write consistent content that helps your readers.

  SPEAKER_00: Number four, publish and market books that solve problems for your readers.

  SPEAKER_00: Number five, expand your network of friends, fans, and connections.

  SPEAKER_00: Number six, create streams of income based on your writing and services.

  SPEAKER_00: And number seven, practice key habits for wellness, productivity, and success.
