Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
0:03
Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to pick up
0:06
where he left off with the Bill Gates transcript with
0:10
Congress question by mister Spector. Now question, thank you, mister Gates.
0:16
You already testified in the last hour you gave no
0:18
financial payments. You had no financial arrangement or payments with
0:23
Jeffrey Epstein. Is that right answer? That is right question.
0:27
Just want to clarify a little bit using a document,
0:29
so I'll enter as majority Exhibit five A contract from
0:33
the Epstein owned entity, Southern Trust Company, Incorporated, dated May
0:37
twenty eighth, twenty thirteen. This is from the DJ's release.
0:41
It's mark with Bates number e FTA zero one one
0:45
one one nine to six y one. I'll give you
0:48
a moment to look at it. It seems to be
0:50
a contract of some kind for consulting services. Answer between
0:54
who and who question. If you direct your attention to
0:58
the second block of texts, the second or third line
1:01
up from the bottom, It says Bill Gates and affiliated trusts, partnerships,
1:05
limited partnerships, and limited liability companies of and any other
1:10
entities affiliated with mister Gates. And then it says collectively
1:14
clients because the list of collection of clients. Do you
1:18
have any knowledge about whether you were a client of
1:20
any of those Southern Trust Company? Answer? I was not.
1:23
Question have you ever heard of the Southern Trust Company? Answer?
1:27
I believe this document was shown to me as part
1:29
of the Epstein files as one of the documents that
1:32
my name came up in a dishonest and misleading way. Question,
1:37
So that's your characterization, is that this is a dishonest
1:40
and misleading you know, mentioned of you as a client. Answer.
1:44
That might be a little strong because it doesn't actually
1:47
say I was a client, but it suggests that I
1:49
might be one of the clients. And I was never
1:52
a client in any way of mister Epstein or any
1:54
of his entities, including this thing that I don't know
1:57
much about called Southern Trust Company. Question. Thank you, mister Moran,
2:02
asking questions again? Sorry, just for my record. That was
2:06
Mark five, mister Grant. Answer is yes, sir, now Emmer's
2:10
back and prior to reviewing this document, had you ever
2:13
come to learn during the course of knowing mister Epstein
2:16
that he was representing himself to you as a client. Gates,
2:19
I didn't know that he would represent that and it
2:22
would have been a falsehood. Emmer, thank you, mister Grant.
2:26
Asking questions again, mister Gates, it seems, through the course
2:30
of reviewing the documents and as part of this interview
2:32
with you here today, that there were more than a
2:35
few people either associated with yourself and some of your
2:39
ventures or Microsoft generally, that had a relationship with mister
2:42
Epstein at the time. Were you aware of all these
2:46
associates of yours having relationships with some kind with mister Epstein. Answer, well,
2:51
I'll mention the three and then you can tell me
2:53
if there's more than that. I thought mister Nickolitch had
2:56
a very limited relationship with mister Epstein in terms of
2:59
facility heading meetings that I had with him. You know,
3:02
the email show a more extensive relationship. I thought that
3:05
doctor Walker knew Epstein. He mentioned her to me one
3:08
time in our first dinner meeting, and then she sent
3:11
me an email asking about the meeting. Subsequently, I don't
3:15
think we communicated about Epstein, although apparently there's some possibility
3:19
of an August twenty fourteen email and that maybe that's
3:22
an exception. I'll have to track that down. So the
3:25
extent of her relationship with mister Epstein, I don't know.
3:29
I think another name that came up with Steven Sinofsky,
3:32
and I did not know of him having any relationship
3:34
with mister Epstein. Question and what about mister Mirvold? I
3:39
know he was brought up at some point an earlier
3:41
hour here today. Question No, I never discussed mister Epstein
3:45
with mister Miervold. Question and you had no awareness of
3:49
them having any type of relationship at all at the time? Answer?
3:53
I know when Epstein files came out, there was some
3:55
things related to mister Mehervold having some relationship with mister Epstein.
4:00
Well before that, I had a vague awareness of some
4:03
of the connection and I don't know where that came from,
4:05
but we never discussed it. Question and what about mister
4:09
Reid Hoffman were you aware of him having a relationship
4:11
with mister Epstein. Answer? I did know that through some
4:16
MIT connection, but I'm not sure that mister Hoffman had
4:19
met mister Epstein. But I was never other than Actually,
4:23
there is a December breakfast, the final meeting with Epstein,
4:26
where I'm presenting a group of people about philanthropy and
4:29
global health mister Hoffman attended that and so did mister Epstein.
4:33
So that's one case where mister Hoffman and mister Epstein
4:36
and I were all together in the same place. Question
4:39
and did you ever discuss mister Epstein with mister Hoffman
4:42
other than this one meeting you just mentioned. Answer? It
4:45
might have come up. You know that I talked to
4:47
mister Hoffman about a lot of things, but the fact
4:50
that he was kind of an unknown but a person
4:53
with a bad reputation that may have come up in
4:55
my conversation with mister Hoffman. Question and mister I'll call
5:01
it a relationship with mister Epstein. Is that due to
5:03
his own accord or is that because of his close
5:05
proximity to you? Answer? I wouldn't call it a relationship.
5:09
I mean, on my behalf of you was involved, particularly
5:12
in the doctor Nikolic exit discussions, but I wouldn't call
5:15
that a relationship. Question fair enough, And did mister Epstein
5:20
ever ask you to hire someone to either Microsoft or
5:22
any of your other ventures? Answer never. Question are you
5:27
aware of anyone at Microsoft or any of your other
5:30
ventures giving any type of inside investment information? Answer no.
5:34
Question did mister Epstein ever ask you for any type
5:37
of inside investment information to your companies or adventures. Answer
5:41
no question. Did you ever discuss any stocks or trades
5:45
or anything related to financial markets with mister Epstein? Answer no, Well,
5:51
let me amend that. I mean the general idea of
5:54
where markets going up or going down that came up
5:56
in some discussions, but not any specific company that was
6:00
going to happen with its stock questions, So mister Epstein
6:03
wouldn't have a conversation with you then about a particular company,
6:07
say Tesla, and say you should short this stock or
6:09
buy this stock? Answer no, spector just one quick question
6:13
for the last couple of sections here, did any law
6:16
enforcement entity of any kind ever approach you or ask
6:19
for information about Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? Answer yeah, I
6:22
think my lawyers can probably do a better job on
6:24
this than I can. But I think the US Virgin
6:27
Islands conducted a voluntary interview with me, Miss Claire. Yeah,
6:30
if I could just clarify, the Attorney General of the
6:33
US Virgin Islands made an informal request to mister Gates
6:36
to cooperate with its investigation, very much like he did here.
6:40
Mister Gates cooperated voluntarily. We turned over some documents to
6:45
the Attorney General, and mister Gates sat for a voluntary
6:48
proffer with the representatives of the US Virgin Islands. Spector
6:52
what sort of documents to the Virgin Islands, request Claire,
6:56
they from recollection. They related mostly to financial documents. It
7:00
was in connection with, you know, tax questions primarily, and
7:03
they're related to JP Morgan Chase and some banking issues.
7:07
So it was primarily focused on that, mister Grant. And
7:11
just so the record's clear, no one from the Southern
7:14
District of New York ever reached out to you during
7:16
Epstein's troubles when he was arrested subsequently in twenty nineteen.
7:21
Answer no question, And the same question for miss Maxwell
7:25
during her arrest of twenty twenty one. Answer no question,
7:28
Thank you, Specter asking questions again, mister Gates. We do
7:33
sort of a format in some of our interviews. I'm
7:36
going to read you a long list of names. The
7:38
question is the same for each person. Answer okay, question,
7:42
It's simply have you ever communicated with that person regarding
7:45
Jeffrey Epstein or Glenn Maxwell? And there may be some repetition.
7:49
I'll try to cut out the ones that we've already
7:51
talked about for the most part, so for the first one.
7:53
Richard Kahn answer no, never communicated with him. Question. Darren
7:59
Endyke answered no question. Leslie Groff answer, I don't believe so.
8:03
I mean she might have been on some of the
8:05
email chain, but I don't think I communicated with her.
8:08
Question Sarah Kellen answer again, she might have been on
8:11
the chain, but I never communicated with her. Or I
8:14
don't know. Maybe she's one of the women I wasn't
8:16
introduced to in the photos. I'm not sure. Question. When
8:19
you say that miss Groff and miss Kellen may have
8:21
been on the email chain, do you mean an email
8:23
chain along with mister Epstein. Answer yes. Question next person
8:27
Doug Band answer no question. Larry Summers answer yes, as
8:32
I've discussed doctor Summers came to a dinner, which is
8:34
the second time I met Epstein and other than that,
8:37
no question. Have you ever discussed Jeffrey Epstein's crimes allegations
8:43
against Jeffrey Epstein with Larry Summers answer no question. Noam
8:47
Chomsky answer no, I never met Noam Chomsky. I know
8:50
has worked very well. I think he's fairly old now,
8:53
but I never met him or talk to him. Question redacted.
8:56
I don't recognize that name, so no question. Alan Dershowitz
9:00
answer no question. George Mitchell answer no question. Andrew Mountbatten
9:06
Winsor formerly Prince Andrew. Answer yeah, I never nothing connected
9:10
to Epstein. I encountered him two times and official visits
9:13
in the UK where he was serving as something like
9:16
the trade representative. Question but never about Epstein? Answer never
9:20
about Epstein? Question okay. Answer Weirdly, in the set of
9:24
photos that I guess Epstein kept, there's a photo of
9:26
me and Prince Andrew at one of those official state meetings,
9:30
but nothing in connection with Epstein, even though Epstein seemed
9:33
to have that picture and it shows up in the
9:35
Epstein files. Question that's right. Do you recall if Jeffrey
9:39
Epstein was also in attendance at that state dinner? Answer never,
9:43
question he definitely wasn't in attendance there. Answer no, I
9:46
never saw him in the UK and those were both
9:49
meetings in the UK. Question thank you, Peter Mandelsson answer
9:53
no question. Corinia Shuliac answer I don't know. Is that
9:58
one of his assistants. Question she's reported to have dated
10:01
mister Epstein. Just if you recall having a conversation with
10:04
these people about Jeffrey Epstein or Ghlaine Maxwell answer. The
10:09
only time I recall a meeting was earlier today. Someone
10:12
sitting on that side of the table said that a
10:14
person that I couldn't identify in a photo had that name. Question,
10:17
but you don't recall any specifics of any conversation with
10:20
her if you had one? Answer no, apparently though I
10:23
was photographed with her. I think somebody represented that here today.
10:27
Question thank you. Edwud Brock answer no question. Paul Morris
10:32
answer yeah, I don't recognize that name. Question. Sultan Ahmed
10:35
Binsuliam answer no question. Leslie Wexner answer no question. Harvey
10:41
Weinstein answer no question. Any member of the Rothschild family
10:46
answer no. It's a lot of people, but still no question.
10:49
There are several names I can read if you would
10:51
like answer no, no, please question. Casey Wasserman answer no question.
10:56
Stacy Plaskett answer, I don't know who that is. Question.
10:59
Howard Lutnik answer no, Steve Bannon answer no. Elon Musk
11:03
answer no. Abigail Johnson answer no, Jeff Bezos answer no,
11:08
Larry Page answer nope. Sergey Brinn answer no question. President
11:13
Bill Clinton answer no, Secretary Hillary Clinton, no question. I
11:18
don't think I said other than the one meeting where
11:20
Ted Waite was Glenn Maxwell, have you ever discussed Jeffrey
11:24
Epstein or Glenn Maxwell with Ted Waite? Answer no, mister Gates,
11:28
just a couple of final questions for you, so your relationship.
11:32
Can you remind us for the record when your relationship
11:34
with mister Epstein, formally, when you cut off ties with
11:37
mister Epstein other than his couple of reachouts. Answer after
11:42
the December meeting in twenty fourteen. Question, and during the
11:46
last hour you discussed a little bit about the final
11:49
few meetings or discussions with regard to the donor advised
11:52
funds with mister Epstein that was in twenty fourteen. Is
11:56
that right answer? That's right question? And I'm just trying
11:59
to understand after the summer of twenty thirteen and all
12:03
of the various emails we discussed again acknowledging some of
12:07
them you didn't know about at the time. But regardless
12:09
the interactions you had with mister Epstein where he was
12:12
making veiled threats about personal issues, including your affairs, why
12:16
did you continue to engage with mister Epstein about philanthropy
12:20
going into twenty fourteen. Answer, well, you know, the Doctor
12:24
Nikolch exit, you know, ended up exactly as it started,
12:26
with something that I felt was fair, and Doctor Nikolich
12:29
ended up deciding was fair. And so that was kind
12:32
of a weird thing, and I admit it should have
12:34
added to the many negative things about mister Epstein. And
12:38
then in the fall, I have the dinner where my
12:40
ex took her already somewhat negative view with mister Epstein
12:44
and felt that she had met him in person that
12:45
one time she had an even more negative view of him.
12:49
You know, there was a lot of things saying that,
12:50
you know, the risk of even in this very limited role,
12:54
which was referring me to people not being paid, not
12:57
playing any role, that I should have had better judge
13:00
to cut it off. And I would say that I
13:02
was a bit stubborn in thinking, hey, was this completely
13:05
a dead end? And so I continued through twenty fourteen
13:08
to try to get meetings with actual donors, and then
13:11
in September I got that then there's one more breakfast
13:15
where I presented philanthropic opportunities, and only then did I
13:19
completely abandon any connection with him. Question and did you
13:23
formally tell him at this point that you didn't wish
13:25
to see or speak to him anymore? Answer? I think
13:28
my final email to him says, hey, the raising money
13:31
isn't going to work. And so, because that was clearly
13:33
the thing I had focused time on, that was clearly
13:36
the end of the relationship. He continued to email me,
13:39
and so through Larry Cohen, not in an email, because
13:42
I sent the final one email and that was it,
13:44
But mister Cohen made it clear to mister Apstein that
13:47
I had severed the relationship completely and that I wouldn't
13:50
be seeing me or hearing from me. Question and one
13:54
final question for you. When we were discussing earlier about
13:57
the two initial extramarital affairs and then we talked about
14:00
a third one, one of the reasons you gave for
14:03
those being the only ones that are relevant to the
14:05
committee's inquiry was being because mister Epstein had anything else
14:09
bad to say about you, any other damaging information about you,
14:13
than he would have written it elsewhere in the emails.
14:16
Is that a fair characterization of what you said? Answer? Yeah,
14:19
he managed to put it in some true embarrassing things,
14:22
specifically the affairs, and then he managed to put in
14:25
a lot of false things, and so I think if
14:27
he had known anything negative about me, it would have
14:30
shown up in those But that's all speculation based on
14:33
what I've seen in January of this year. You know,
14:35
the foolishness of my spending time with him is about
14:38
one hundred times higher after I seen the January emails. Question. Okay,
14:42
thank you, Chairman Comer, mister Gates on behalf of the
14:45
Oversight Committee and the entire Congress, I want to thank
14:49
you for coming in today voluntarily, thank you for answering
14:52
our questions. And I have to conclude by thanking you
14:55
for your philanthropy and all the great charitable work that
14:58
you've done and will hopefully continue to do. So. Thank you, Gates.
15:03
Know that will be the focus of the rest of
15:04
my life. And I don't know if anything I did
15:06
today is helpful in your request, but I hope you
15:09
can find justice for the victims. Chairman Comer, thank you, Specter,
15:14
thank you, sir. We can go off the record, all right, folks.
15:18
There it is the transcript from Bill Gates and his
15:22
interview with Congress. The next one we're going to move
15:25
into is Leslie Groff. All the information that goes with
15:30
this episode can be found in the description box.
