Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: I love the fact that you two went out and
- 0:01Speaker 1: invested in better microphones because you knew you're gonna be
- 0:04Speaker 1: on the podcast. Yeah, both of y'all speaking of recording, Well, Donald,
- 0:13Speaker 1: we handled it already. We handled it, We handled it already.
- 0:15Speaker 1: You're late. Tell Zac was what the problem was that
- 0:18Speaker 1: you sounded like shit? My housekeeper or my kids turned
- 0:22Speaker 1: the volume all the way up to ten. Oh okay, yeah,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna turn Should I turn mine down to dannuld
- 0:29Speaker 1: sound sounds Donald? If you're gonna blow out doing an
- 0:33Speaker 1: Oprah voice or just going full Donald, back up. Good
- 0:37Speaker 1: advice right there. Yeah, okay, if you're doing one of
- 0:40Speaker 1: your classic Donald moments that's gonna make you go woozy,
- 0:45Speaker 1: you might want to just back up from the mic.
- 0:47Speaker 1: And I'm in no mood to be what you're trying
- 0:53Speaker 1: to get into a day shoon. What you're trying to know,
- 0:57Speaker 1: let's get into the podcast. How are you men? I'm good.
- 1:01Speaker 1: I got a little headache. I think I think may
- 1:04Speaker 1: have had one glass of wine too many that led
- 1:07Speaker 1: to a what's called a headache. Really, I drink a
- 1:12Speaker 1: little bit of beer last night and woke up with
- 1:14Speaker 1: a little bit of a. It's it's gone now. But
- 1:17Speaker 1: it was like a little bit of a stuffy nose,
- 1:19Speaker 1: like a little bit of a running nose. When I
- 1:22Speaker 1: drink a lot of hops, Yes, when that gets it
- 1:25Speaker 1: or wheat or whatever that is, Yes, I get a
- 1:27Speaker 1: little bit of a running nose. I've noticed, Like I
- 1:29Speaker 1: drink a little bit too much wine, I get what's
- 1:31Speaker 1: called a headache. That's because of the sugar. Though I
- 1:35Speaker 1: know I need to drink more water when you drink
- 1:38Speaker 1: your wine, of course you do, but I like it
- 1:40Speaker 1: makes me happy. By the way, a lot of people
- 1:42Speaker 1: were saying they do want to play the Bengo game.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I told you I was wrong. I told you so. Um,
- 1:49Speaker 1: let's get some Bengo cards from that or you know
- 1:51Speaker 1: it'll be good Joel. If we could get that guy's
- 1:54Speaker 1: thing and then have it be easily downloadable for people. Oh,
- 1:58Speaker 1: I could probably work on that, Yeah, so they can
- 2:00Speaker 1: play along. We might need different we need different Yeah,
- 2:04Speaker 1: we need different Bingo cards. That's what I'm trying to
- 2:05Speaker 1: tell you. Well, who's gonna do all that manual labor?
- 2:09Speaker 1: High fans, If you would like to make Bingo cards
- 2:12Speaker 1: available for free, you would have our never ending gratitude.
- 2:16Speaker 1: We can't pay you what we could our gratitude and
- 2:19Speaker 1: our love and our respect, and a shout out right
- 2:22Speaker 1: here on the pot I will shout out right. Not
- 2:24Speaker 1: not only that, but if you live in the United
- 2:26Speaker 1: States of America, we will ship to you right So,
- 2:32Speaker 1: just you know, if you're in the mood, if you
- 2:34Speaker 1: got the time, make yourself a fake Doctor's real friends
- 2:37Speaker 1: bingo cards so everyone can can play along and somehow
- 2:40Speaker 1: Joel will figure out a way to make them available. Yes,
- 2:43Speaker 1: we can do that. We can select. We can select
- 2:46Speaker 1: a winner at random. So just making the card does
- 2:48Speaker 1: not guarantee you some GTS kombucha. Just to clarify, I
- 2:51Speaker 1: can pick one of you guys. Joel's doing the small
- 2:54Speaker 1: print now, Joe, I think it's supposed to say that,
- 2:55Speaker 1: like fast and low, like defend your card. Um. By
- 3:06Speaker 1: the way, you are allowed to go to the UK.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Donald you have to just quarantine alone for fourteen days.
- 3:11Speaker 1: It's it's it's the uh because you know the UK
- 3:14Speaker 1: left um the EU, so you just can't. We're not
- 3:19Speaker 1: allowed to go to Europe. I got it. Isn't that
- 3:23Speaker 1: so embarrassing? We're so bad at this that we've been
- 3:26Speaker 1: banned from Europe. Yeah, that's how it goes. Yeah, that's
- 3:30Speaker 1: how it goes. We didn't exactly nail it. Now we missed.
- 3:34Speaker 1: We missed by a lot. I saw this graph. I
- 3:38Speaker 1: saw this graph that showed the first spike and then
- 3:41Speaker 1: it said, uh, it was labeled naive. And then it
- 3:44Speaker 1: showed the second spike, and it goes stupid like you
- 3:49Speaker 1: can call the first spike naive, but the second spike
- 3:52Speaker 1: is just stupidity. Well, you know, and I'm just talking
- 3:56Speaker 1: about this because it's it's been the whole year so far,
- 4:00Speaker 1: the whole year. But fucking put on a mask, guys,
- 4:05Speaker 1: all of this bullshit about I don't need to wear
- 4:07Speaker 1: a mask. Like I was watching the news and some
- 4:09Speaker 1: dude actually said the same thing that they said in
- 4:12Speaker 1: the beginning. Oh, it's just like the flu. If I
- 4:15Speaker 1: get it, you know, my body could fight the infection.
- 4:18Speaker 1: You know, I'm not afraid of this thing. He has
- 4:21Speaker 1: no idea. Now, granted he was coming from Arizona and
- 4:26Speaker 1: going to Florida, the two hotspots in the United States,
- 4:29Speaker 1: but still, dude, I read in Wisconsin they're having a
- 4:33Speaker 1: herd immunity festival where people that want to try and
- 4:38Speaker 1: get it. Are all going to meet and go to
- 4:40Speaker 1: this festival, so they think that they can get it
- 4:44Speaker 1: and create some sort of herd immunity. But hasn't heard
- 4:46Speaker 1: immunity proven not to work with this virus. Some people
- 4:50Speaker 1: have caught it twice. Yeah, and not in and I
- 4:53Speaker 1: think in Sweden they did a whole experiment where they
- 4:55Speaker 1: weren't gonna get it. Didn't work. It didn't work, No,
- 4:58Speaker 1: and it didn't save them any dollars for their economy either.
- 5:01Speaker 1: It has not been a success. Um, how are you Donald?
- 5:05Speaker 1: Phase on? How's I? You know the picture you posted
- 5:07Speaker 1: of your daughter in the zach brafftowl really is a
- 5:10Speaker 1: beautiful shot. It put a tear to my eye because
- 5:13Speaker 1: she's such a beautiful child and what a glorious towel. Anyway,
- 5:16Speaker 1: how how are you? How's life over your house? How
- 5:18Speaker 1: are things different? Man? You know? Are you still using
- 5:21Speaker 1: the inflatable the kids over the inflatable thing he bought
- 5:24Speaker 1: from the backyard? Yeah, they are. So we started to
- 5:26Speaker 1: do a little bit of golf. So you know how
- 5:28Speaker 1: I saw that picture of you and your kids all
- 5:30Speaker 1: playing golf. You know how I love to play golf,
- 5:33Speaker 1: so I took them to the driving range, and my
- 5:35Speaker 1: daughter's really excited about it. She's gung ho about hitting
- 5:40Speaker 1: balls with dad and she you know, she's she's picking
- 5:44Speaker 1: it up. My son, however, would rather play video games.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I made a mistake when I was when I was
- 5:52Speaker 1: a few years ago. Well, last year I introduced Rocco
- 5:57Speaker 1: to video games. Big mistake. Every word out of his mouth. Now. Now, granted,
- 6:04Speaker 1: his vocabulary has grown, uh by leaps and bounds, but
- 6:11Speaker 1: holy cow, man, if I got to hear about, you know, uh,
- 6:16Speaker 1: Minecraft and the Enderman and and and Jewels and all
- 6:21Speaker 1: of that stuff. Minecraft is his favorite. Well, no, he
- 6:25Speaker 1: has three favorites. Well, now four it's Minecraft, Zelda, Breath
- 6:31Speaker 1: of the Wild. I see Joel loves Breath of the Wild.
- 6:36Speaker 1: This is a child of taste. Yeah, well yeah, uh.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Star Wars uh battle Front, which is a first person
- 6:45Speaker 1: shooter game but in the Star Wars universe, and the
- 6:49Speaker 1: fourth one it just started happening, and it's like some
- 6:54Speaker 1: I don't I don't remember the name, something like Castle
- 6:56Speaker 1: something I don't know. Anyway, Hold on Rocko. We've never
- 7:05Speaker 1: gotten a feature from We have one feature a while
- 7:07Speaker 1: ago from rock Very spend a minute Marco's first cameo.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm excited to hear what this lastness. It can be Castlevania,
- 7:17Speaker 1: that's so violent. Castle Crashers. I thought it might be
- 7:22Speaker 1: Castle Crashers. Yeah, I don't know. Castle Crashers. What is this?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Four player co op? Very like low polygraphics. It's really fun. Yes,
- 7:30Speaker 1: a living room game. I love it. It's a living
- 7:32Speaker 1: room game, a game that everybody can play, a game
- 7:35Speaker 1: you can play in your couch. Everybody can play. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 1: everybody in your house can sit on the couch and
- 7:40Speaker 1: play a game. The game. Whereas Minecraft, you could play
- 7:43Speaker 1: it with four players, but that's just tough. Or two players,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm not sure. But uh, And I just got an
- 7:50Speaker 1: Xbox One, so I think I'm gonna try and get
- 7:52Speaker 1: into you know, get Castle Crashers. If you're into if
- 7:55Speaker 1: you know what you really you listen, I know, we
- 7:57Speaker 1: the Switch, Get that dude, and get Zelda Breath of
- 8:01Speaker 1: the Wilds. Well, that's what he's he's playing on Switch.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That's the one game he plays on Switch, and that
- 8:08Speaker 1: that game alone is worth buying the Switch for. Okay, period. Well,
- 8:14Speaker 1: I just got Xbox because I feel like I've reached
- 8:17Speaker 1: the point in quarantine where I'm gonna have to start
- 8:19Speaker 1: doing some new stuff and get the switch. Dude. But
- 8:21Speaker 1: to get into a video game, get the switch and
- 8:23Speaker 1: get Zelda. I'm telling you right now, I'm switching. Getzelda
- 8:26Speaker 1: Breath of the Wild. I just got an Xbox One.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I'm sure I can find a game to play an
- 8:29Speaker 1: Xbox One. Why are you telling me to get a
- 8:30Speaker 1: whole different system? Because this I'm telling you right now, dude,
- 8:34Speaker 1: if you want to play a game that's gonna occupy
- 8:36Speaker 1: your time and make your brain, do you know thinking stuff?
- 8:42Speaker 1: Zelda Breath of the Wild? Am I wrong? Guys? Please
- 8:45Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong. You're certainly not wrong.
- 8:48Speaker 1: It's a great game. There's also great games for I
- 8:51Speaker 1: will now return the Xbox One because I cannot think
- 8:57Speaker 1: of a game that I might like on Xbox one,
- 8:59Speaker 1: Sonabox one. I could think of game the back Paddle.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't know what type of game or zec is like,
- 9:06Speaker 1: what do you like in your video video games? I
- 9:09Speaker 1: don't really play, but when we were making the TV
- 9:11Speaker 1: show Scrubs, I would get into games, and the last
- 9:15Speaker 1: game I remember being really into was hit Man. The
- 9:18Speaker 1: first one. The first one, Okay, all right, they liked
- 9:23Speaker 1: it because for me it was, UM, I liked the
- 9:26Speaker 1: idea of like having to play a character and like
- 9:28Speaker 1: go undercover and um and like you'd feel your heart
- 9:32Speaker 1: beating when they were starting to figure you out. And
- 9:35Speaker 1: I really, I really like that. We finished that game.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I finished that game, that's how. But there's another one.
- 9:41Speaker 1: There's been a second one, UM that apparently is really
- 9:44Speaker 1: good that I never played third one on the way.
- 9:46Speaker 1: There's a third one on the way, so I think
- 9:49Speaker 1: I might. I don't know what do you call that
- 9:51Speaker 1: kind of game? That's what I like totally. I feel
- 9:53Speaker 1: like you might be like an Elder Scrolls or like
- 9:56Speaker 1: a sky Rim kind of guy. I don't like too
- 9:58Speaker 1: much wizardy shit. When people get the f out of here,
- 10:03Speaker 1: when people start like GTA might, when people start throwing
- 10:08Speaker 1: like wizard spells, I'm out. I don't like that. I
- 10:11Speaker 1: like reality. I started to like that one. Um, the
- 10:14Speaker 1: Spider Man kid is playing uncharged moment no, no, no, uncharted.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Oh Uncharted. That's a good one, great game series. Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Only problem it's for the PlayStation, so you can't get
- 10:26Speaker 1: it on Xbox. Sorry. Also, there isn't a Wild West
- 10:30Speaker 1: one that's kind of a redemption get that, yes, yes,
- 10:34Speaker 1: get that superword that at the second one red Dead
- 10:36Speaker 1: Redemption too, So just throw it out their Assassin's Creed
- 10:40Speaker 1: because I don't like that. I don't like those games. WHOA,
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's very similar to Hitmen, very similar video game form.
- 10:50Speaker 1: It is very similar. I just find it. It's weird
- 10:52Speaker 1: that I don't. I don't. I just don't like the game.
- 10:54Speaker 1: I don't know, that's just that's totally fun, totally Also,
- 10:57Speaker 1: when Cyber seventy seven comes out, Zach, I feel like
- 10:59Speaker 1: you really enjoy that game because you could create every
- 11:03Speaker 1: aspect and I mean every aspect of your character, and
- 11:06Speaker 1: then your choices determine the storyline. So there's not one
- 11:10Speaker 1: linear storyline that every player will have. It's entirely based
- 11:12Speaker 1: on your choices throughout the game. It's supposed to be
- 11:15Speaker 1: really good. I'm very excited about it. I tried to
- 11:16Speaker 1: get into GTA don because you were obsessed with it
- 11:19Speaker 1: while we did Scrubs, but I find it. I found
- 11:21Speaker 1: it boring after a while. Well, then you might not
- 11:24Speaker 1: like Red Dead Redemption too. Then if that's because it's
- 11:26Speaker 1: the same It's kind of the same thing as GTAP
- 11:33Speaker 1: was like going around, darn, we're about to get into
- 11:35Speaker 1: our first fight. Let's talk about this because every game
- 11:38Speaker 1: and I'm like, this shit is dope, You're like, yeah, right,
- 11:41Speaker 1: and then every game that you're like this shit is dope,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm like, that shit sucks. Get into No, we probably
- 11:46Speaker 1: shouldn't because we should segue off video games because there
- 11:49Speaker 1: might be listeners who are already bored as fun about
- 11:51Speaker 1: us talking about video games. We can do this later. Yeah, okay,
- 11:54Speaker 1: I should do a video game podcast. Okay. By the way,
- 11:58Speaker 1: I saw a lot of chatter or about people really
- 12:01Speaker 1: wanting a Donald Joel star Wars podcasts, So I think
- 12:06Speaker 1: you guys need a side hustle. I'm gonna agree with
- 12:09Speaker 1: a starting Star Wars. You guys can just go off
- 12:12Speaker 1: what You won't get stopped by me. You won't have
- 12:15Speaker 1: me going I'm so bored. You guys can geek out
- 12:18Speaker 1: about Star Wars. Forever wants to do a Star Wars podcast.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We're down to be the hosts of it, aren't we.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Joel absolutely absolutely, especially. I think between the two of us,
- 12:31Speaker 1: we probably know everybody who's either involved in like the
- 12:35Speaker 1: creation and or talking about I know, like it's one
- 12:38Speaker 1: of the talking heads from like star Wars dot com,
- 12:41Speaker 1: and you know, people like that to be fun to
- 12:42Speaker 1: do like interviews and talk about our favorite characters. I
- 12:44Speaker 1: can get you Deborah Chow, who directed a bunch of
- 12:47Speaker 1: the Mandalorians and is directing the new oilbi one series.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Want I tell you, I will sob openly. I'm so
- 12:53Speaker 1: obsessed with Deborah. Oh my god, get you your first
- 12:57Speaker 1: mega guest, Debra Chow would be our first episode. All right,
- 13:00Speaker 1: let me bring it to the higher up. We'll discuss.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I want to cut, and I want to and I
- 13:07Speaker 1: want to occasionally come on and be like this is
- 13:09Speaker 1: so boring, you'll never We'll never have you on the podcast.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Do you want to fucking count us in, Donalds, Let's
- 13:19Speaker 1: fucking start to countess in. But I also want to
- 13:21Speaker 1: talk about the fact that our neighbor in New York
- 13:26Speaker 1: City when we lived in New York. Yeah, he went
- 13:29Speaker 1: to Twitter. Amy Tan went to somebody hit her up
- 13:32Speaker 1: and said is this story true? And she was like,
- 13:34Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know. She was like, I
- 13:36Speaker 1: don't ever recall writing a letter to anyone, but I've
- 13:40Speaker 1: had several people live sublet the place, So can you
- 13:44Speaker 1: tell me the year? And I'm gonna tell it the year.
- 13:46Speaker 1: It would have been summer of two thousand and two, right,
- 13:50Speaker 1: either two thousand and two or two thousand. Well, we
- 13:52Speaker 1: came out two thousand and one. Yeah, the show came
- 13:54Speaker 1: on and one, so it would have been summer of
- 13:55Speaker 1: summer two thousand and two. Summer it was the it
- 13:58Speaker 1: was the loft and soho and it was one right
- 14:00Speaker 1: above your loft, miss Tan. And we apologize. We were
- 14:04Speaker 1: young and we were partying and we were loud, and
- 14:06Speaker 1: if it wasn't you, well we were told it was you,
- 14:10Speaker 1: and we definitely got a letter that we assumed was
- 14:12Speaker 1: from you, and then we also got told we also
- 14:16Speaker 1: got told by whoever we rented from that we needed
- 14:19Speaker 1: to shut the fuck up, yeah, and keep it down.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And they kept our deposit too. I wrote a very
- 14:26Speaker 1: angry letter about them keeping our deposit. I do remember
- 14:29Speaker 1: that as well, Yeah, because I was like, this is
- 14:31Speaker 1: some b s because we you know, the place had
- 14:35Speaker 1: some problems. We loved it, but it had some problems. Yeah,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Like if you ever rent a place and it's got
- 14:41Speaker 1: all these problems, but you kind of suck it up
- 14:43Speaker 1: and you're like, oh whatever, then they try and keep
- 14:45Speaker 1: your deposit. You're like whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa this way
- 14:48Speaker 1: saying all that. Now I talk about the fucking thirty
- 14:51Speaker 1: five things. We looked and looked at the other way
- 14:54Speaker 1: from like you know, like air conditioning. Right. Oh, it
- 14:58Speaker 1: was so high, like the fact that Donald didn't have
- 15:00Speaker 1: a room and started calling himself Benson anyway, said to
- 15:06Speaker 1: night Stories about show. We made a lot A bunch
- 15:12Speaker 1: of nurses said stories. So, yeadoo around here, yattoo around here.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I love you. Your beard's looking nice, by the way,
- 15:32Speaker 1: it's getting full grown in it. There's no gray in
- 15:34Speaker 1: that thing. There's a lot of gray in it. It's
- 15:36Speaker 1: just really I don't want to see it. Yeah. If
- 15:38Speaker 1: I grow a beard now, it's too it's too gray.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I don't like it. I feel that you have a
- 15:41Speaker 1: lot of gray. Yeah, it makes me look too old.
- 15:43Speaker 1: So I don't really do it anymore. Although I was
- 15:45Speaker 1: seeing on the interwebs they have this this uh die
- 15:48Speaker 1: you can put in your beard. Yeah, but then like
- 15:51Speaker 1: if you put your face on a pillow and the
- 15:54Speaker 1: pillows white, you gotta die all on the pillow. I
- 15:56Speaker 1: don't think it comes off. Really it comes off hell yeah, man,
- 16:01Speaker 1: oh you've tried it. No, I just think it comes off.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Let's make up though. I think the die is more
- 16:07Speaker 1: is more permanent. Okay. Heather Locklear is in this episode. Donald, Oh,
- 16:11Speaker 1: are you gonna sum it up for us? Yeah? I
- 16:14Speaker 1: am gonna sum it up for Okay. This is a
- 16:17Speaker 1: good episode, very funny. And uh. Heather Locklear is the
- 16:20Speaker 1: guest star. I think she does two episodes. Yes, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: she she gets the classic gorgeous woman entrance and scrubs
- 16:30Speaker 1: where she comes in the hallway and slow motion with
- 16:33Speaker 1: the fan and and uh, and she looks marvelous. But
- 16:37Speaker 1: let's first hear a summary. Let me get my stop
- 16:39Speaker 1: watch ready. Okay, I'm gonna be honest with you, guys.
- 16:42Speaker 1: This summary is really quick. Well, then you're gonna beat
- 16:45Speaker 1: thirty seconds. I guess I'm gonna definitely beat thirty seconds
- 16:47Speaker 1: this time around. Okay, Well, let's you know, don't because
- 16:50Speaker 1: this episode had so many things in it, but it
- 16:52Speaker 1: all boils down to one thing. Okay, stop watching. Wait,
- 16:55Speaker 1: but one second, I don't want you get too cocky
- 16:57Speaker 1: with your summaries. You have to really have to stop
- 16:59Speaker 1: watch ready and go all right, see this episode it
- 17:03Speaker 1: all boils down to one thing when you really think
- 17:07Speaker 1: about it. This episode is all about taking chances and
- 17:11Speaker 1: the positive things that can happen when you exit your
- 17:14Speaker 1: comfort zone. And it takes Elliott, J D, Carla and
- 17:18Speaker 1: doctor Cox this whole episode to realize good things can
- 17:22Speaker 1: happen when you step out of your comfort zone. That
- 17:25Speaker 1: was very good. You know, I noticed you slowed down,
- 17:28Speaker 1: so you were trying to make it fill the thirty seconds, right.
- 17:31Speaker 1: You know you spoke in a very leisurely pace. You
- 17:34Speaker 1: were because this time there's not because there's not much feeling.
- 17:37Speaker 1: The only thing you wanted to say was this episode
- 17:39Speaker 1: is about taking chances. So you were like, go, this
- 17:43Speaker 1: episode is about one thing. I got very I got
- 17:49Speaker 1: very Bill Shatner with it. Huh, this episode it's about
- 17:56Speaker 1: you know, do you remember remember when Um Schattner went
- 17:58Speaker 1: on SNL and uh, he was playing himself at a convention.
- 18:01Speaker 1: At a convention is like, yes, I have a question
- 18:05Speaker 1: in an episode three two seven, Um, what is the
- 18:08Speaker 1: combination to the safe? And he goes, look, I just
- 18:11Speaker 1: have to say one thing. After coming to all these
- 18:13Speaker 1: conventions and I get all your letters and your fan
- 18:17Speaker 1: mail life. I just have to say, get a life.
- 18:25Speaker 1: He goes, it was a show, we did it years ago. Great.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I remember that great, great episode, and I remember. I
- 18:33Speaker 1: wonder he must have gotten a lot of backlash from like, dude,
- 18:37Speaker 1: he is listen, I've I've I've met William Shatner quite
- 18:40Speaker 1: a few times, and he is a lovely man. He
- 18:43Speaker 1: is very funny and does not take the Star Trek
- 18:49Speaker 1: fandom serious like that seriously like that, like he's for real,
- 18:53Speaker 1: like on some I played this role. I love the
- 18:57Speaker 1: fact that everybody loves it, but that doesn't necessarily define
- 19:01Speaker 1: who I am. You know what I'm saying? Really so,
- 19:03Speaker 1: but so how are they? I wonder how those megafans
- 19:05Speaker 1: are with him, because a lot of people who are
- 19:08Speaker 1: in mega fandom pieces of content understandably and rightfully so
- 19:13Speaker 1: embrace the fan base and and do whatever they want.
- 19:16Speaker 1: And he embraces it completely. He embraces it, and does
- 19:19Speaker 1: he come to him He doesn't roll his eyes about it,
- 19:21Speaker 1: or I don't know that he rolls his eyes about it.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And I don't know how he is with his fans,
- 19:27Speaker 1: But when you talk to him about it, yeah, he's
- 19:29Speaker 1: well aware. I was in Star Trek and it was
- 19:32Speaker 1: a very popular show, and I you know, I crushed it.
- 19:35Speaker 1: That being said, you know he's a t J Hooker.
- 19:42Speaker 1: By the way, we're look what good hosts we are.
- 19:44Speaker 1: We're circling back to t J Hooker with with Shatner
- 19:47Speaker 1: and have the Locklan and had their lock there. What
- 19:49Speaker 1: an odd name for a show, t J Hooker. For
- 19:52Speaker 1: those of you who don't know, it was not about
- 19:53Speaker 1: a hooker. It was about a cop. A cop. They
- 19:57Speaker 1: a bunch of cops. They were partners, right. I never
- 20:00Speaker 1: saw an episode. I think she was on it. I
- 20:01Speaker 1: think she to This is how dope had a lock
- 20:03Speaker 1: leer career. Oh my god, back in the day. I
- 20:07Speaker 1: think she was on two hit shows at one time,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and I don't know if they were on the same network,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but I know she was doing two shows at one
- 20:14Speaker 1: time and both of them were hits, and she was
- 20:17Speaker 1: ratings gold well. She was on Dynasty, right, and she
- 20:20Speaker 1: was on melrose Place obviously what else, and she was
- 20:22Speaker 1: on t J Hooker right. I don't know if I
- 20:26Speaker 1: see it. It just seemed like if you wanted a
- 20:29Speaker 1: ratings bump and you needed some you needed to bring
- 20:33Speaker 1: the ratings up. You bring Heather Lockleer into the into
- 20:36Speaker 1: the fold, and she just works wonders on. She certainly
- 20:41Speaker 1: is a very pretty human being. And I think she's
- 20:45Speaker 1: also very very, very funny and talented. Man, it wasn't
- 20:48Speaker 1: it was it was she was on Spin City, she
- 20:50Speaker 1: was on Bill show, Spin City. It was also it's
- 20:53Speaker 1: like the perfect storm of you know, of talent. She's
- 20:57Speaker 1: very beautiful, she's very funny. You know she's coming on
- 21:03Speaker 1: the program, right, Joel, Yes, we have Harry schedules for
- 21:07Speaker 1: the next episodes. Absolutely, but the next episode we're having
- 21:10Speaker 1: her on Donald. How fancy is that? I love this.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I mean I think I don't want to I don't
- 21:14Speaker 1: want to let the fans down. I mean, you know,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you never know what can happen in in the in
- 21:18Speaker 1: the fast pace moving world of podcast booking guests. But uh,
- 21:22Speaker 1: so far, her, so far, we have her. I'm very
- 21:26Speaker 1: excited about it. She's um, she's um, I just wanted
- 21:29Speaker 1: to say, And she's she's having such an interesting life.
- 21:31Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta ask her, we gotta we gotta
- 21:33Speaker 1: go deep with Heather. Are you gonna go? Are we
- 21:35Speaker 1: gonna go? Deep. Are we gonna go Are we gonna
- 21:37Speaker 1: go deep deep deep undercover? Like Eddie Murphy and Benley
- 21:40Speaker 1: Hill's Cap. Two. No, I'm not trying to like ask
- 21:43Speaker 1: her personal questions, but I mean she's just had some.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I could say, ask a personal questions. Are we trying
- 21:47Speaker 1: to go deep? Deep? Deep? She likes Rocker. She was
- 21:50Speaker 1: married to Tommy Lee. She was married to Richie Sambora. Oh.
- 21:54Speaker 1: She she had a relationship with Jack Wagner, my sister.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I mean she rest in peace. And did she have
- 22:00Speaker 1: a crush on Jack Wagner? You know who that is? Donald. Yeah,
- 22:03Speaker 1: he's a great golfer Jack Wagner. No, but he's he's
- 22:07Speaker 1: an actor. No, I know he's an actor, but he's
- 22:10Speaker 1: also one of the best celebrity golfers. I think he
- 22:12Speaker 1: also sings too. I think my sister used to love
- 22:14Speaker 1: him so much. She used to listen to his music. Okay, No,
- 22:18Speaker 1: I've got her things up here. She's um gosh. She's
- 22:21Speaker 1: been on so many shows. Her first job, it looks like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: was on Chips as a teenager, Wow and t J
- 22:30Speaker 1: Hooker Dynasty, a show called Going Places, Melrose Place, Spins City.
- 22:40Speaker 1: She was on a show called lax in twenty and
- 22:42Speaker 1: forty five the melrose Place reunion. Geez, she works a
- 22:48Speaker 1: lot well her, it's heavi likelier. Dude, Hey, she was
- 22:51Speaker 1: in Uptown Girls. Yeah, wow, I mean, just to just
- 22:56Speaker 1: to show the audience how well we're dovetailing all this together.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Uptown Girls is the movie Donald made when we were
- 23:02Speaker 1: in New York, when Amy Tan got mad at us.
- 23:05Speaker 1: That's exactly this is. This is turning out to be. Wow,
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's almost like we planned at all. It's it does
- 23:14Speaker 1: seem like it's like our fans right now, the people
- 23:16Speaker 1: listening to this podcast right now are like they're making
- 23:19Speaker 1: this up, but we're not. Yeah, it's as though Donald.
- 23:22Speaker 1: So anyway, we're gonna ask her about some of that
- 23:24Speaker 1: we gotta I mean, I don't. I don't know what.
- 23:25Speaker 1: We're gonna ask her about everything. We're gonna asking about
- 23:27Speaker 1: Chattner's about melrose Place. Did you ever watch melrose Place?
- 23:33Speaker 1: I mean I did not. Yeah, it wasn't really aimed
- 23:35Speaker 1: at us. I don't think no, But um, yeah, Andrew
- 23:39Speaker 1: Shoe went to my high school. He was a very
- 23:42Speaker 1: good soccer. Nobody cares, Zach Oh, I'm just telling you
- 23:50Speaker 1: Andrew Shoe and and you know who his sister is,
- 23:53Speaker 1: Elizabeth Shoe. Yeah, both went to Columbia High School in Maplewood,
- 23:56Speaker 1: New Jersey. Now let me get this straight. Elizabeth Shoe Adventures,
- 24:00Speaker 1: Baby Sitting Elizabeth Shoe. Yeah, she and my wife kind
- 24:04Speaker 1: of look alike. Yeah, they have the similar hair and
- 24:08Speaker 1: similar chens too. You know who else went to my
- 24:12Speaker 1: high school? No, Lauren Hill. Lauren Hill drumming my pain
- 24:18Speaker 1: with his fingers, singing in my life with his words,
- 24:26Speaker 1: killing me softly with his song, killing me softly with
- 24:33Speaker 1: his song, telling my whole life with his words, killing
- 24:39Speaker 1: me softly. I love her, Miss Education of Lauren Hill
- 24:44Speaker 1: so much. With his song Oh that's that's You wouldn't
- 24:55Speaker 1: know that, but that's trip call quest right there. No, don't,
- 24:58Speaker 1: but that was That song was off the Fuji's album.
- 25:02Speaker 1: And but her solo album I loved so much. Yeah
- 25:06Speaker 1: that that record is one of the best records ever made.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I think I might agree with you to this day. Um,
- 25:12Speaker 1: she was at my bar mitzvah and um, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 1: we play a game at bar Mitza was well, at
- 25:19Speaker 1: least the kids used to called coke and pepsi And
- 25:21Speaker 1: it's like a dance floor game, like you're on one
- 25:24Speaker 1: side and your partner's on the other and your coke
- 25:26Speaker 1: and your partner's pepsi. And if they go coke, all
- 25:29Speaker 1: the all the kids run over and they sit on
- 25:31Speaker 1: your on your knee and they go pepsi and it's
- 25:33Speaker 1: like it's kind of like a musical chairs thing. The
- 25:35Speaker 1: last person there is kicked off, kicked off, kicked off
- 25:37Speaker 1: until there's only two left standing. Lauren Hill was my
- 25:41Speaker 1: coke and pepsi partner at my bar mitzphone. And that's
- 25:46Speaker 1: the extent of the anecdote. Did you guys win? I
- 25:49Speaker 1: don't think we want no. Well, because I invited some
- 25:52Speaker 1: jocks to my barmitz phone, I think they got really
- 25:54Speaker 1: serious about it. And you know they were Lauren and
- 25:56Speaker 1: I were like the two actors, you know, joking around.
- 25:59Speaker 1: We weren't like really trying to win coke and pepsi
- 26:02Speaker 1: got it? Would Can you tell me what song you
- 26:05Speaker 1: walked out to for your bar mitzvah and and and
- 26:08Speaker 1: how you and and the high stepping that you did.
- 26:10Speaker 1: So what happened was, um I entered my bar mitzvah.
- 26:14Speaker 1: So what they said, Oh my god, this is so embarrassing.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I love it though, it's so embarrassing, but you know what,
- 26:19Speaker 1: no one's listening. Um, it's just it's just so. The
- 26:24Speaker 1: theme was musical theater. Hell yeah. So you know, for
- 26:29Speaker 1: those of you who don't know, back in the day,
- 26:30Speaker 1: I don't know if kids do this anymore, but back
- 26:32Speaker 1: in the day, you're you're a bar Mitzva had to
- 26:33Speaker 1: have like a theme, and often kids would choose their
- 26:36Speaker 1: sport because that's what you know. My theme is soccer,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and like the centerpieces would be soccer balls and the
- 26:41Speaker 1: cake would look like a soccer ball, and it was
- 26:43Speaker 1: just you know that kind of thing. And uh so
- 26:46Speaker 1: my theme is musical theater. And um. The the company
- 26:51Speaker 1: that planned the party hired actors to dress up as
- 26:55Speaker 1: famous characters from the music from different musicals. Like one
- 26:59Speaker 1: guy was dressed as like a cat from Cats, when
- 27:02Speaker 1: Gal was dressed as someone in Sunday in the Park
- 27:04Speaker 1: with George with like a parasol. Someone was dressed as
- 27:07Speaker 1: like lame is you know, someone on a barricade kind
- 27:11Speaker 1: of thing. And and then so as I so, as
- 27:14Speaker 1: I walked into the room, these people were standing as
- 27:18Speaker 1: centerpieces in the middle of the tables frozen as robots,
- 27:23Speaker 1: and as I walked into the room, the band struck
- 27:26Speaker 1: up Let's hear it for the Boy, and then the
- 27:30Speaker 1: centerpieces all started moving at like robot like robotic figures
- 27:35Speaker 1: to the rhythm of let's hear it for the Boy.
- 27:39Speaker 1: And you high stepped into the and you high stepped
- 27:41Speaker 1: into your botta. Yes, let's hear it for the boy,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and the crowd went wild, and I can and all
- 27:48Speaker 1: the different robotic people moved it like robots to let's
- 27:53Speaker 1: hear it for the boy. Maybe he's no Romeo, but
- 27:56Speaker 1: he's my love love in one man show. Whoo whoa,
- 28:02Speaker 1: Let's hear it bother boy. I remember that, Um, I
- 28:08Speaker 1: remember that. My friend, my friend, Roger Heller, he noticed that, Um,
- 28:13Speaker 1: the guy playing in one of the cats from the
- 28:16Speaker 1: music Cats was distracted doing his robot dance to Let's
- 28:20Speaker 1: hear It for the Boy, And so he took his
- 28:22Speaker 1: spoon and he tied the guy's tail. I'm round up
- 28:27Speaker 1: a bunch a bunch silverware. So when the poor guy
- 28:32Speaker 1: when the number was over, and the guy was like
- 28:35Speaker 1: taking his bow and got down off the table, he
- 28:38Speaker 1: was clanking solar that Roger had tied to his tail
- 28:44Speaker 1: like like a like a car that had cans tied
- 28:47Speaker 1: to it. Just married. Oh my god, Oh my god,
- 28:54Speaker 1: it was so embarrassing. That's hilarious. Let's take a break.
- 28:57Speaker 1: We'll be right back after these fine words. Let's get
- 29:06Speaker 1: into the episode, all right. Heather Lockleyer comes in. Now.
- 29:09Speaker 1: I don't know if you know this, Donald, or if
- 29:11Speaker 1: our listeners know this, but I find that not everyone
- 29:14Speaker 1: knows this. This is a real thing that the pharmacutic.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Absolutely they send out. They're often beautiful women, so I
- 29:21Speaker 1: assume handsome men as well, but more often than not,
- 29:24Speaker 1: they're beautiful women. And their job is to convince doctors
- 29:29Speaker 1: to prescribe their drug and they'll they'll they still do
- 29:35Speaker 1: tons of shady stuff. I think some of it's been
- 29:37Speaker 1: attempted to be curbs because it was out of control.
- 29:39Speaker 1: I knew girls in my high school that would do
- 29:41Speaker 1: this right out of high school, like their first job
- 29:43Speaker 1: or right out of college. Their first job was going
- 29:46Speaker 1: to do this. And you got and if you're ever
- 29:48Speaker 1: in a doctor's office and you see someone come in
- 29:50Speaker 1: and they're all kind of dolled up and they're pulling
- 29:52Speaker 1: a little rollie bag, that's often a pharmaceutical rep and
- 29:56Speaker 1: you'll be frustrated when you see them go in the
- 29:58Speaker 1: office before you and you're like, oh, I've been waiting
- 30:00Speaker 1: here and now I have to wait for her to
- 30:02Speaker 1: go schmooze the doctor. And they always have. That's why
- 30:05Speaker 1: the doctor always has all this swag that we joke
- 30:07Speaker 1: about in the episode and the teachers, but that's the
- 30:09Speaker 1: least of it. They keep track of how much the
- 30:12Speaker 1: doctor is prescribing the drug, and if you prescribe it
- 30:16Speaker 1: a certain amount, they like can win vacations and trips,
- 30:20Speaker 1: and they take them to lunch and they buy them
- 30:22Speaker 1: expensive just like this dinner that's in this episode, and
- 30:25Speaker 1: they'll they'll they schmooze the nurses too, so they're like, Oh,
- 30:29Speaker 1: I brought sushi, I brought cupcakes, and it's all this
- 30:32Speaker 1: like it's like payola. It's like this super shady aspect
- 30:36Speaker 1: of the pharmaceutical world. Not that there needs to be
- 30:39Speaker 1: more shady aspects, but it's it's something that really really happens,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and it's really really fucked up, I think because they're
- 30:46Speaker 1: basically like incentivizing the doctors to prescribe their drug or
- 30:52Speaker 1: recommend it. Yeah, right. Well, in this episode, this drug
- 30:56Speaker 1: that she's pushing actually works very well. The only problem
- 31:00Speaker 1: that Cox has with it is that they've marked it
- 31:02Speaker 1: up so high. It's sort of like EpiPens. Repie pens
- 31:05Speaker 1: work great everybody. If you have allergies to anything and
- 31:10Speaker 1: you can and you go into anaphylactic shock because of
- 31:14Speaker 1: your allergies or because I said allergies, an EpiPen uh
- 31:18Speaker 1: can help save your life. The problem with EpiPens are
- 31:22Speaker 1: they're so expensive, and even the generic brand is so
- 31:27Speaker 1: expensive and very hard to come by. Yeah, I mean,
- 31:31Speaker 1: of course that and the marking up of drugs is
- 31:33Speaker 1: a whole other thing. You can That's why people drive
- 31:36Speaker 1: across the border to go to Canada where they don't
- 31:38Speaker 1: mark the drugs up like that. And and I mean
- 31:40Speaker 1: they have like literally have bus trips where they'll where
- 31:44Speaker 1: a bunch of seniors will get on a bus and
- 31:47Speaker 1: go to Canada to buy their drugs for a more
- 31:49Speaker 1: affordable price and then come back to this country. But
- 31:53Speaker 1: let's not go around a giant tangent like that, because
- 31:55Speaker 1: we can make a whole podcast about how fucked up
- 31:57Speaker 1: that shit is. But but anyway, this episode is about
- 32:00Speaker 1: a pharmaceutical rep coming to bribe everyone with pens and
- 32:04Speaker 1: swag and free steaks and sexiness and of course sexiness,
- 32:09Speaker 1: which is something that is a part of it. I mean,
- 32:12Speaker 1: I imagine in my brain some of this has been curbed.
- 32:16Speaker 1: But back in the day, it was all about like flirting.
- 32:18Speaker 1: I mean, all the girls that I knew that did
- 32:20Speaker 1: this were attractive women, and they would say, yeah, a
- 32:24Speaker 1: part of it is like, you know, gentle flirting to
- 32:27Speaker 1: get the doctors to to prescribe their drug. And then
- 32:31Speaker 1: they would have this girl once showed me. She's like,
- 32:33Speaker 1: you're gonna believe the data we have on these on
- 32:35Speaker 1: these doctors, like what they're prescribing, how many times they
- 32:38Speaker 1: prescribe our drug when they didn't prescribe our drug? And uh,
- 32:42Speaker 1: and they get they do all this sort of shady stuff,
- 32:44Speaker 1: like they put them certain doctors on retainer, Oh, you're
- 32:48Speaker 1: a consultant with our pharmaceutical company, which is basically just
- 32:52Speaker 1: fucking shady Paola, to make sure they're prescribing it. And
- 32:55Speaker 1: when it's not a when it's not an addictive drug,
- 32:58Speaker 1: it's like, okay, that's one of the of shity. Now
- 33:00Speaker 1: cut to it. When it's an opioid, and they're fucking
- 33:02Speaker 1: prescribing oxyconton and making everyone addicts. I highly recommend this
- 33:07Speaker 1: book called Dope Sick if you want to read about this.
- 33:10Speaker 1: It's about how the pharmaco industry, particularly Purdue Pharma, got
- 33:15Speaker 1: in basically turning in so many people into opioid addicts
- 33:20Speaker 1: because of the overprescription of oxyconton. And I just finished
- 33:24Speaker 1: this book and it's amazing, and I think Michael Keaton
- 33:26Speaker 1: is gonna make it into a many series. But don't
- 33:29Speaker 1: wait for that. Read the book Dope Sick. The episode
- 33:33Speaker 1: starts off with people getting hurt. This kid's gotten hurt,
- 33:36Speaker 1: got hurt, and you watched him get hurt one video. Yes,
- 33:40Speaker 1: I gotta be honest with you. I watched a lot
- 33:42Speaker 1: of crazy shit because I enjoy watching people get hurt.
- 33:44Speaker 1: But then it turns, it turns, you know sometimes like
- 33:48Speaker 1: sometimes it's like, wow, that was funny. He fell and
- 33:50Speaker 1: hurt himself, he busted his ass. But then the things
- 33:53Speaker 1: that you can see on the internet on like Instagram,
- 33:56Speaker 1: now some of these things you're like, I don't want
- 33:58Speaker 1: to watch that, you know what I mean? This is harmless.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Him crushing his nuts on a rail, do you do
- 34:04Speaker 1: you WinCE when you watch someone get their nuts hurt?
- 34:06Speaker 1: I feel a pain in my in my and my
- 34:08Speaker 1: and my genitals whenever I see anyone get hurt. It's
- 34:11Speaker 1: like a It's a quick pain. I don't know if
- 34:13Speaker 1: women understand this, And not to say that it doesn't
- 34:16Speaker 1: hurt when they hurt their groins, but but men have
- 34:19Speaker 1: a physical just reaction when you see someone hurt their
- 34:24Speaker 1: nuts where you you kind I kind of grab mine
- 34:27Speaker 1: if I'm alone and I'm allowed to, and just make
- 34:29Speaker 1: sure that they're okay. No, I I have this happens
- 34:32Speaker 1: to me if I see anyone get hurt. Ever, dude, ever,
- 34:35Speaker 1: if anyone I'm talking particularly a testicle moment like this. Yeah, ten,
- 34:39Speaker 1: this episode, he's he lands on a on a railing
- 34:43Speaker 1: skateboarding and he lands on the railing on his nuts.
- 34:46Speaker 1: It depends on how to watch. It depends on how
- 34:49Speaker 1: unsuspected it is, you know what I mean, Like we
- 34:52Speaker 1: knew watching this that the kid's gonna crush his nuts,
- 34:54Speaker 1: So I didn't necessarily flinch as hard as if I
- 34:58Speaker 1: were watching something and out of nowhere somebody gets pummeled
- 35:01Speaker 1: in the in the in the balls. That's when I'm like,
- 35:04Speaker 1: oh my god, and I and I flint and I
- 35:07Speaker 1: feel that sharp pain in my test. He's from it. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 1: I I I crushed. I clutched my balls when I
- 35:13Speaker 1: saw this kid fall over and over and over again.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I thought that she was hilarious. Now when she walks
- 35:18Speaker 1: in and does her his slow motion sexy walk in, Um,
- 35:21Speaker 1: they cut you cut to a fantasy and it's me
- 35:24Speaker 1: and Deontay Gordon, who's Donald standing, who's often in the background,
- 35:29Speaker 1: UM is next to me, and he's wearing Pooka shells.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Did you notice that? I did? I do remember when
- 35:33Speaker 1: Deonta used to wear Pooka shells. No, but that's hilarious.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I mean, I haven't seen someone were Pooka shells since
- 35:39Speaker 1: I was a child, and I didn't really notice that
- 35:40Speaker 1: Deontay was walking around the scrub stet we're wearing Pooka shells.
- 35:43Speaker 1: This was also twenty years ago, but but still, Pooka
- 35:46Speaker 1: shells were not in in two thousand and two. I'm
- 35:49Speaker 1: sure they were because they were. I think it's like
- 35:53Speaker 1: a choker too. It's not like unless it's like you know,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you know, like the women had this style. How a
- 36:00Speaker 1: few years ago where they're all wearing the tight chokers
- 36:02Speaker 1: around their neck. Yeah, what was the purpose of that?
- 36:04Speaker 1: Can we what was? What was? Chokers look awesome? There's
- 36:07Speaker 1: no no, they look awesome all the time in Victorian
- 36:11Speaker 1: times when they were hitting in the eighties and the nineties. Now, chokers,
- 36:15Speaker 1: I don't nice. It just looks weird to have a
- 36:18Speaker 1: black ribbon around your neck. Are you ready to husband
- 36:21Speaker 1: fell off? Take them off? Well, they're gone again, jewel Right,
- 36:25Speaker 1: the fad was strong for a couple of years. Now
- 36:27Speaker 1: I feel like it's gone again. Yeah. The punk princesses
- 36:29Speaker 1: are They're colder on strong. I love them. Rock on girls.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Uh yeah, not cea On like Vogue anymore or anything
- 36:36Speaker 1: like that though. No. And I would say Pooka Shells, yes,
- 36:39Speaker 1: early two thousands because the OC was around and those
- 36:43Speaker 1: had Oh maybe Deonte was inspired by the OC. Deonta's
- 36:48Speaker 1: from California. Deontay went to school in OC type of
- 36:54Speaker 1: high school. Yeah, man, so he wanted to be and
- 36:57Speaker 1: then he went to I think Deontay went to like
- 36:59Speaker 1: UC Hanna Barbara or something like that, one of the
- 37:01Speaker 1: party schools. You see one of those you see party schools. Well,
- 37:06Speaker 1: all I know is it's a very funny site watching
- 37:09Speaker 1: Deontay wearing a puka shell choker. Yeah, hilarious. And then
- 37:13Speaker 1: the corpse sitting up because of how hot Heather Locklear is.
- 37:17Speaker 1: That is funny, and she rubs his she rubs his
- 37:19Speaker 1: head through the body bag and then I give a
- 37:23Speaker 1: little like that's a gift. I see a lot. Is
- 37:25Speaker 1: that moment where where she like blows a kiss and
- 37:28Speaker 1: I do a little I do a little like kiss
- 37:31Speaker 1: to her? Is that a that a that? Yeah, I'm
- 37:33Speaker 1: gonna send you that gift after we get off the podcast. Right,
- 37:36Speaker 1: it's a funny one. But yeah, so Deontay and puka
- 37:39Speaker 1: shells his face is really funny too. Yeah, if you
- 37:42Speaker 1: if you guys are watching this, go to go around
- 37:45Speaker 1: uh two h six and you'll see this moment. It's
- 37:48Speaker 1: really really funny. And then threesome talk. Carla is very
- 37:53Speaker 1: into a threesome if it's with Heather Locklear, right, but
- 37:57Speaker 1: she's kind of talking smack because he doesn't know that
- 38:00Speaker 1: you're gonna go and try and she says, she's like,
- 38:03Speaker 1: oh you know, yeah, that's with someone like her, I'll
- 38:05Speaker 1: do it. And then she doesn't know that you're like
- 38:07Speaker 1: you when you go try and you gotta try and
- 38:09Speaker 1: chat Heather up right. The new title sequences back, and
- 38:13Speaker 1: I saw on wiki scrubs wiki that it's the last
- 38:16Speaker 1: time it's ever seen, So for those of you who
- 38:19Speaker 1: love it and uh and liked it, this is the
- 38:22Speaker 1: last episode it's ever seen, and then it's retired forever.
- 38:27Speaker 1: I thought that there's another change to the title at
- 38:30Speaker 1: some point where it just goes Superman, I'm no Superman. Yeah. Eventually,
- 38:34Speaker 1: what happens every every season, they kept cutting the amount
- 38:37Speaker 1: of show back to put in more advertiser time, and
- 38:41Speaker 1: so then it became like, well, we don't have time
- 38:43Speaker 1: for all of this whole title sequence. So then it
- 38:45Speaker 1: was just like I'm no Superman and that was it. Yeah. Yeah, Actually,
- 38:51Speaker 1: another thing I read on scrubs wiki, interestingly was that
- 38:53Speaker 1: this episode when it first aired was a supersized one,
- 38:56Speaker 1: so it was ten minutes longer. Remember that NBC at
- 38:59Speaker 1: the time was doing some supersized episodes, right, so they
- 39:02Speaker 1: still do that. Well, there's ten minutes of the show
- 39:05Speaker 1: that aren't on the one I watched that that we're
- 39:08Speaker 1: on when it aired, so god knows what those ten
- 39:10Speaker 1: minutes were, Oh, so there's show missing. Yeah, well, I
- 39:13Speaker 1: mean I watched it on iTunes. You watched on Hulu. Yeah,
- 39:17Speaker 1: well it was. If it was I think it was
- 39:18Speaker 1: twenty four minutes or something. But but there's a thirty
- 39:21Speaker 1: four minute version of this episode somewhere. I wonder if
- 39:24Speaker 1: that's on the DVDs or not. Probably that I don't know. Um.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I like when I try and hit on her at
- 39:30Speaker 1: three thirty three, I'm like, she goes, I'm Julie, I go,
- 39:33Speaker 1: were you named after a jewel? He he's so bad
- 39:40Speaker 1: at hitting on women, this guy. Yeah, well he's you know,
- 39:43Speaker 1: he's a nerds. Yeah, he's he's he's this is the
- 39:49Speaker 1: it's so charming though, you know, no friend nerd. He
- 39:51Speaker 1: does get some pretty amazing women. Yeah, he's so charming.
- 39:54Speaker 1: He's charming. He's a charming he's charming, and he's a
- 39:56Speaker 1: doctor and he's goofy um, I'd like yeah, but again,
- 40:05Speaker 1: in the spirit of flirting, she's like, come grab a
- 40:07Speaker 1: pen and they're like all right above her breast. Yeah,
- 40:10Speaker 1: you know, it's all about like, you know, one by one,
- 40:12Speaker 1: she's worked, she works Kelso, she works, doctor Cox, she's working,
- 40:17Speaker 1: she works. You with the steak that you eat makes
- 40:20Speaker 1: you sick works? Yeah? Oh man, have you ever had
- 40:24Speaker 1: a turf and turf night? We go steak night? We
- 40:26Speaker 1: used to go steak night all the time. It's just
- 40:28Speaker 1: a really we still legitimately go stag night, but now
- 40:31Speaker 1: I'm a pesketarian. Had steak night. This is where steak
- 40:35Speaker 1: Knight kind of started. This is where we learned turk
- 40:37Speaker 1: loves steak. Yes, you really love steak, turf and turf.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Turf and turf. Do you know until this episode, I
- 40:44Speaker 1: had no idea what surf and turf mint? Yeah, that's
- 40:47Speaker 1: when you have a lobster with you? Or does it
- 40:49Speaker 1: any fish or just lobster? I believe it's any any fish,
- 40:52Speaker 1: anything in the sea. Yeah. And then does that mean
- 40:56Speaker 1: it could be any food that eats grass? Good question.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I assumed it was always a steak. You know, I
- 41:03Speaker 1: grew up kosher, so I never had a lobster and
- 41:06Speaker 1: and and stuff like that, the shellfish until I was
- 41:09Speaker 1: like fourteen fifteen years old. Do you want to tell
- 41:12Speaker 1: them that story? Which one after you for a girl? Well,
- 41:21Speaker 1: my father made us kosher when we were kids, and
- 41:24Speaker 1: after my bar mitzvah, after I successfully became a man
- 41:29Speaker 1: in the eyes of the Jewish faith. My dad. I
- 41:32Speaker 1: said to my father like, well, if I'm a man,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I really don't want to be kosher anymore, and I'd
- 41:38Speaker 1: like to make that decision for myself. And he was
- 41:42Speaker 1: kind of his mind was kind of blown, like I
- 41:43Speaker 1: Jedi mind tricked them, and he was like okay, and
- 41:48Speaker 1: I was I couldn't believe it worked. Uh. And then
- 41:51Speaker 1: from that moment on, I was no longer kosher. But
- 41:54Speaker 1: he said, outside of the house, because like I would say,
- 41:58Speaker 1: there was no way you were bringing like a lobster
- 41:59Speaker 1: home for supermarket. No no. If I just sit down
- 42:04Speaker 1: the table and started being like a baky double cheeseburger,
- 42:06Speaker 1: no no, no no. But his rule was outside of
- 42:12Speaker 1: the house, you can eat whatever you want. Also, my
- 42:14Speaker 1: parents had gotten divorced and my mom was now, um,
- 42:17Speaker 1: you know, living with my stepfather and they weren't kosher.
- 42:20Speaker 1: So it was a confusing time for for us as kids,
- 42:22Speaker 1: like come on, guys, you guys got to get on
- 42:25Speaker 1: a unified front here, like what the hell are we
- 42:27Speaker 1: allowed to eat? You know? And uh. And so that's
- 42:30Speaker 1: kind of part of it too, you know. So we
- 42:32Speaker 1: never we never had any kind of shellfish or any
- 42:35Speaker 1: pork or any dairy mixed with meat. And then it
- 42:40Speaker 1: was such a bizarre rule like if you, let's say
- 42:43Speaker 1: you had meat for dinner, you would have to wait
- 42:45Speaker 1: an hour till you could have ice cream. Why that's
- 42:50Speaker 1: part of being the kosher rules? Like, is there is
- 42:54Speaker 1: there a specific reason on why that's Well, back in
- 42:56Speaker 1: the day, it was. It was theory about health and
- 42:59Speaker 1: eating things that wouldn't make you sick, you know, back
- 43:02Speaker 1: in like biblical times. But now it's just tradition, so
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know, you know, I always was like sitting there
- 43:08Speaker 1: being like, oh my god, how long has it been?
- 43:10Speaker 1: Forty five minutes? Do you think, Gosh, do you think
- 43:13Speaker 1: God is going to be pissed if I have the
- 43:15Speaker 1: ice cream? Like fifteen early? But you know, it's just
- 43:19Speaker 1: like any like that when you were a kid to
- 43:21Speaker 1: your parents. No, I mean, are you kidding me? I
- 43:23Speaker 1: was afraid of my dad. I wasn't saying anything like that,
- 43:25Speaker 1: but I mean I in my mind, I was thinking
- 43:28Speaker 1: like this is crazy, even as a kid, like this
- 43:30Speaker 1: is crazy. God does not care about this. That's how
- 43:34Speaker 1: I felt. That's how I felt. Donald right, so good, Um,
- 43:39Speaker 1: so let's go back to I'd like to double her Atandra. Yeah, Todd, Yeah,
- 43:45Speaker 1: I'd like to double her Ontandra. That might be I
- 43:48Speaker 1: should use that shit to this day. It's a double Auntandra.
- 43:52Speaker 1: I'd like to double her Ontra. It's not as good
- 43:54Speaker 1: as um. Are you going to turn everything into sexual innuendo? Um? Yeah.
- 44:03Speaker 1: The Todd is pretty funny in this episode, although it's
- 44:05Speaker 1: a little creepy that he's planning to hide out and
- 44:07Speaker 1: watch you have sex with Judy. No, he was in
- 44:10Speaker 1: the break room. He was in the room sleeping already.
- 44:12Speaker 1: He wasn't hiding out, he was already in there. Oh,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I was under the impression that he was. He was like,
- 44:17Speaker 1: he was like he figured out that you guys were
- 44:20Speaker 1: gonna have sex, and so he was like hanging out
- 44:22Speaker 1: on the top punk. No, no, no, no, he went
- 44:25Speaker 1: into that. He went in there right to be the
- 44:29Speaker 1: Todd and do whatever the Todd. That's a good ask,
- 44:31Speaker 1: rob question, how come how come the Todd is always
- 44:35Speaker 1: in the break room when something something's about to when
- 44:39Speaker 1: something something's about to jump off? The Todd does take
- 44:41Speaker 1: a lot of naps. I have to say he does.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Right there. There's an episode where Todd says, sometimes when
- 44:47Speaker 1: I'm banging this mattress, I'm thinking about banging that one,
- 44:50Speaker 1: the one underneath. So we know that Todd likes to
- 44:53Speaker 1: hump the mattresses in the break room, right, Um, so
- 44:57Speaker 1: I think we should ask Rob why is Todd always
- 45:00Speaker 1: in the break room alone? Well, between all the surgical
- 45:03Speaker 1: enhancements and rejuvenations, the Todd needs a little cat nap
- 45:07Speaker 1: to cut down on recovery time between operating sessions. I've
- 45:12Speaker 1: been told I'm a bit of a sleep humper, though,
- 45:14Speaker 1: sometimes when I'm banging the top mattress, I'm thinking about
- 45:17Speaker 1: banging the bottom one. Thank you, Thank you Rob, Thank
- 45:20Speaker 1: you Rob. And just to give Rob a plug. If
- 45:24Speaker 1: you guys want, you can hire them on Cameo, go
- 45:27Speaker 1: on that that app and you can you can have
- 45:30Speaker 1: you can hire Rob to say anything pretty much yeah
- 45:34Speaker 1: within reason right, And you can send your friends a
- 45:38Speaker 1: Rob video of him saying funny stuff. These are great
- 45:42Speaker 1: ideas for birthday presence. If you have friends that are
- 45:47Speaker 1: die hard Scrubs fan and fans and love the Todd,
- 45:52Speaker 1: here's a way for you to get the Todd to
- 45:54Speaker 1: deliver some sort of five and a funny anecdote. And
- 46:00Speaker 1: you know, I haven't really been on the cameo too much,
- 46:02Speaker 1: but I like the idea of hiring um people. I
- 46:05Speaker 1: like to say funny things. Yeah, Donald and I are
- 46:09Speaker 1: not on there, but we want you to put all
- 46:11Speaker 1: of your scrubs love in to Rob get robbed to
- 46:14Speaker 1: say funny things. I think I might hire Rob just
- 46:16Speaker 1: to send you a message. Donald, Okay, yeah, it's sure. Yeah,
- 46:20Speaker 1: I mean it's gonna be maybe with you. I should
- 46:22Speaker 1: hire a basketball player because they have a lot of
- 46:25Speaker 1: sports athletes on there, and I and I could get
- 46:27Speaker 1: you one. If you could get anyone to send me
- 46:29Speaker 1: a message, I would love a message from Tracy Morgan.
- 46:32Speaker 1: I don't know if he's I bet he's not a camy.
- 46:34Speaker 1: He's got a zillion dollars now, especially dudes. As a settlement,
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm Brian. If you could get Tracy Morgan to hit
- 46:39Speaker 1: me up as Brian Fellows, you did it once in
- 46:42Speaker 1: your life, you had Tracy Morgan went to Oh that's right,
- 46:47Speaker 1: I did, because you know I'm a huge Tracy Morgan, right,
- 46:49Speaker 1: And you know how much I love Brian Fellow. I'm
- 46:52Speaker 1: Brian Fellows, right. And it was just after I think
- 46:57Speaker 1: one of the best, uh, Tracy Morgan said, Day Night
- 47:00Speaker 1: Lives is when Brittany Spears hosted I made no sense,
- 47:06Speaker 1: but it was feel funny. But he's so funny on
- 47:08Speaker 1: that episode anyway, Rob Mascio's on cameo, guys, we're going
- 47:13Speaker 1: to break. I love how Rob seems to write out
- 47:24Speaker 1: his thing, like I thought he was just gonna, like,
- 47:27Speaker 1: le just answer it, but it seems very prepared, and
- 47:30Speaker 1: he writes them out and us the line. He puts
- 47:33Speaker 1: his time, and he runs his line, runs his line.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Their guests here, Daniel, Yes, they are Yeah, let him in, Yeah,
- 47:41Speaker 1: already Yeah, bringing the guests, Ladies and gentlemen. Give it
- 47:45Speaker 1: up for Devin. How are you man? I'm doing well?
- 47:52Speaker 1: What about yourself? We're chilling, you know, making it happen
- 47:55Speaker 1: like everybody else trying chilling, chilling like a villain. Donald,
- 47:58Speaker 1: Don't you say that. I don't ever say chilling like
- 48:00Speaker 1: a villain, You fucking tool. Devin. Do you see how
- 48:04Speaker 1: I'm addressed? Do you see how I'm how I'm talking
- 48:06Speaker 1: to Well, you made the dumbest remark and said, do
- 48:08Speaker 1: you say chilling like a villain? Donald? What says chilling
- 48:11Speaker 1: like a villain, Devin. Do you follow sports in basketball
- 48:14Speaker 1: in particular at all? I do, yes? And who's your
- 48:17Speaker 1: favorite team? I'm a Dallas Mavericks fan. Oh see, you're
- 48:20Speaker 1: lucky man, You've won a ring. You guys stole Pussencis
- 48:24Speaker 1: from us? Are you calling out? Are you? Are you
- 48:26Speaker 1: coming from Dallas right now? Are you hitting us up
- 48:27Speaker 1: from Dallas right now? I'm not. Actually, I'm one of
- 48:29Speaker 1: those weird Dallas Mavericks fans. I'm originally from Pennsylvania and
- 48:33Speaker 1: I'm in Virginia now. I became a Dallas Mavericks fan
- 48:36Speaker 1: because Dirk I lost a bet in junior high school
- 48:40Speaker 1: and so I had to take German as my foreign
- 48:42Speaker 1: language and I ended up sticking with it and I
- 48:46Speaker 1: majored in it in college. But my dad wasn't a
- 48:48Speaker 1: big basketball fan. He was a big baseball guy, and
- 48:52Speaker 1: so I kind of had free rein to pick my team.
- 48:54Speaker 1: And I always loved picking, you know, underdogs in the
- 48:57Speaker 1: The MAVs kind of had you know, pretty good squads
- 49:01Speaker 1: leading up to that championship team, but nothing fully came
- 49:04Speaker 1: together up until twenty eleven, and so I, you know,
- 49:09Speaker 1: picked Dirk and I Mark Cuban seems like a pretty
- 49:12Speaker 1: cool guy. UM hard to like a lot of what
- 49:15Speaker 1: he's doing. I like Markuban. Yeah, I don't know what
- 49:17Speaker 1: anything about sports, but I like Mark Cuban. Um, Devin,
- 49:20Speaker 1: do you have a question for us um about anything?
- 49:23Speaker 1: He does nothing about Scrubs, It could be about anything. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 49:27Speaker 1: I prepared a couple. I'm lucky enough to know John Putch,
- 49:32Speaker 1: who directed a couple episodes I think starting at the
- 49:35Speaker 1: tail end of season five. Yeah. Great. He grew up
- 49:38Speaker 1: in the same town I did, and frequent in the
- 49:41Speaker 1: restaurant my mom owned. Um. He actually filmed one of
- 49:44Speaker 1: his movies partially in that restaurant, and I got to
- 49:47Speaker 1: be an extra, so I got to meet him through that.
- 49:50Speaker 1: UM and I know you both have talked a lot
- 49:52Speaker 1: about what different directors brought, especially in the early couple
- 49:56Speaker 1: of episodes. So for someone like John, you know where
- 50:02Speaker 1: end of season five, you guys, I think it had
- 50:04Speaker 1: already done one hundred and twenties episodes, give or take.
- 50:09Speaker 1: What was it like, you know, coming in as a
- 50:11Speaker 1: new director. How and and you know, Zach you kind
- 50:14Speaker 1: of you got to direct your own couple of episodes
- 50:17Speaker 1: for a show. That kind of had its voice, it
- 50:20Speaker 1: had its style. How did you balance that with your
- 50:24Speaker 1: own personal styles? That's a good question. Someone like that
- 50:28Speaker 1: is in a tough place because they're coming into a
- 50:30Speaker 1: machine five seasons in that's so well oiled. You know,
- 50:34Speaker 1: we really all we crank them out. You know, by
- 50:37Speaker 1: the time you come to five seasons, everybody knows what
- 50:39Speaker 1: they're doing, everybody knows their characters, and a director that's
- 50:43Speaker 1: coming in brand new, they just got to make sure
- 50:46Speaker 1: that they that they go with the flow that you
- 50:48Speaker 1: still want to A director like John would still want
- 50:50Speaker 1: to come in and add his own spin and add
- 50:53Speaker 1: his own flair and come up with cool shots and
- 50:55Speaker 1: have suggestions, but you don't want them coming in and
- 50:58Speaker 1: trying to change the style at all and going in
- 51:00Speaker 1: and doing something out of the norm. But someone like
- 51:03Speaker 1: him would really have to know the show, really have
- 51:05Speaker 1: watched a lot of episodes. A lot of times what
- 51:07Speaker 1: they'll do is come and hang out on the set
- 51:09Speaker 1: and watch somebody else direct, so they just kind of
- 51:11Speaker 1: not only gives you a chance to meet everyone and
- 51:13Speaker 1: kind of shoot the shit a bit, but also you
- 51:15Speaker 1: get the sense of like everyone's vibe, like, oh I
- 51:17Speaker 1: see that Johnny c doesn't like to do more than
- 51:19Speaker 1: that many takes. I'm gonna just make a mental note
- 51:21Speaker 1: of that. And oh, I see that Donald never knows
- 51:25Speaker 1: his lines. Okay, good, let me memorize that. So you
- 51:28Speaker 1: kind of kind of come to the set and get
- 51:29Speaker 1: the feel of everything. So then when you when you
- 51:32Speaker 1: when you're all of a sudden, because like I said before,
- 51:34Speaker 1: it's such a bizarre job to be like, hey, everyone,
- 51:36Speaker 1: nice to meet you. I know you guys have been
- 51:38Speaker 1: working together for five years. I'm the boss this week.
- 51:41Speaker 1: You know. It's such a weird, a weird way to
- 51:44Speaker 1: create stuff, but it is kind of how it works.
- 51:48Speaker 1: A little trivia for you. Do you know who John Punch?
- 51:50Speaker 1: His mother is John Punch. His mother is Jean Stapleton,
- 51:54Speaker 1: who was Edith Bunker on the classic show All in
- 51:58Speaker 1: the Family Nose What a day? And you knew who you?
- 52:05Speaker 1: I can't hit that note. And girls Hoover again, Herbert
- 52:13Speaker 1: Hoover again, did no no more about everybody pulled his way,
- 52:20Speaker 1: g r old Lasal worked great, Sorry, sorry for your ears.
- 52:31Speaker 1: She was a fantastic actress and um and John Punches
- 52:35Speaker 1: mother A little bit of trivia for you I'll say this,
- 52:38Speaker 1: When John came in, it felt like he was already.
- 52:40Speaker 1: He really blended in very well with us. Yeah, and
- 52:43Speaker 1: I think that's why he came back for He was
- 52:45Speaker 1: also very fast. Yeah, that was another thing he was.
- 52:49Speaker 1: He was he totally like he got the show and
- 52:51Speaker 1: he got us. Also, Zach, have you have you guys
- 52:55Speaker 1: ever worked together other than we text sometimes and we
- 52:59Speaker 1: shoot the shit. He listens to the podcast, So, Hi John,
- 53:02Speaker 1: thank you for listening. Um, and we'll have him on.
- 53:05Speaker 1: I told him we'll have him on when the when
- 53:06Speaker 1: the time comes, I would love to have if if
- 53:08Speaker 1: we really keep this thing going for five. He's directed
- 53:11Speaker 1: so much television as well. We had Michael Spillern who's
- 53:14Speaker 1: directed quite a bit of television. John Punch is another
- 53:17Speaker 1: person who is you know, yeah, who who is a
- 53:21Speaker 1: well seasoned director. Yeah. I don't know what he's directing now,
- 53:24Speaker 1: I'll look it up. Well, nobody's directing anything right now. Well,
- 53:26Speaker 1: I'm saying pre quarantizzle. He's doing something. I think it
- 53:31Speaker 1: was American Housewife. I believe. Oh great, Yeah, Dietrich bad
- 53:35Speaker 1: love that guy. You have another question for us? Yeah, absolutely, So.
- 53:39Speaker 1: I think Scrubs means a lot to me because it
- 53:42Speaker 1: was one of the first times I saw a show
- 53:45Speaker 1: reflect a part of me that isn't just very outward facing.
- 53:51Speaker 1: I grew up and I had epilepsy, and there's an
- 53:54Speaker 1: episode where doctor Cox treats a patient who has epilepsy,
- 53:58Speaker 1: and I believe that the seat is she doesn't want
- 54:01Speaker 1: to take her medicine or isn't taking her medicine because
- 54:04Speaker 1: she she struggles with letting the epilepsy defying her and
- 54:09Speaker 1: prevent her from being a normal teenage girl. And I
- 54:12Speaker 1: was younger than her when I was dealing a lot
- 54:14Speaker 1: with it. But it was the first time I really
- 54:16Speaker 1: remember seeing a part of myself on a TV show
- 54:19Speaker 1: and feeling like, wow, that's you know, very core to
- 54:22Speaker 1: my identity. So for for both of you, when was
- 54:25Speaker 1: the first time, you know, either of you saw yourself
- 54:28Speaker 1: reflected in that way? If ever, good question you go first? Donald,
- 54:35Speaker 1: you mean you mean in television shows when we were
- 54:37Speaker 1: growing up? Or is that what you mean? Yeah, I
- 54:39Speaker 1: mean it could be growing up, it could have you know,
- 54:41Speaker 1: been a while, and it could be more present day. Whatever.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Well I was, I looked at it. I looked at Okay,
- 54:46Speaker 1: so I look at it a little bit different. I
- 54:47Speaker 1: didn't see myself and a lot of and a lot
- 54:50Speaker 1: of television growing up, mainly because there weren't a lot
- 54:53Speaker 1: of African American people on television, you know what I mean.
- 54:57Speaker 1: So seeing somebody who was like me was very hard
- 55:02Speaker 1: to come by. You know. People said I looked like
- 55:05Speaker 1: Todd Bridges when I was a kid, but I had
- 55:07Speaker 1: nothing in common really with what Willis and Arnold went
- 55:10Speaker 1: through in different strokes. It wasn't until a different world
- 55:15Speaker 1: came out and I was in I was. I guess
- 55:18Speaker 1: it was my freshman year in high school and Dwayne Wayne,
- 55:23Speaker 1: Dwayne Wayne came on television, played by Kadem Hardison, and
- 55:27Speaker 1: he was the one that had the flip up glasses
- 55:29Speaker 1: and they were so in love with Denise from The
- 55:31Speaker 1: Cosby Show, Lisa Bonnet. He was so in love with
- 55:34Speaker 1: that character, and I felt like, that's who I I'm
- 55:39Speaker 1: that guy. That's he had a bunch of energy. He
- 55:41Speaker 1: was really charismatic, and girls looked at him not necessarily
- 55:45Speaker 1: as the hot guy, they looked at him as the friend.
- 55:50Speaker 1: And I was drawn to Dwayne Wayne so much so
- 55:55Speaker 1: that I bought the glasses. You did you were? I
- 55:58Speaker 1: would wear the flip up. Now, remember I went to
- 56:01Speaker 1: the professional children's school. So there's me and maybe three
- 56:04Speaker 1: other black kids in the four other black kids in
- 56:06Speaker 1: the school or in my in the upper school at
- 56:09Speaker 1: the time, in the high school at the time, and
- 56:12Speaker 1: so a wearing I would wear the glasses. And I'm
- 56:16Speaker 1: sure these guys were like, this motherfucker came up in
- 56:19Speaker 1: here with the fucking Dwayne Wayne. It's a funnier story
- 56:22Speaker 1: if they're all if you're all four of you're walking around. Yeah. Anyway,
- 56:26Speaker 1: So Dwayne Wayne Kadeem Hardison when he showed up, he
- 56:30Speaker 1: had such an impact on my life because I felt
- 56:33Speaker 1: like I was looking at myself that he was. At
- 56:36Speaker 1: one point, he was one of my favorite actors in
- 56:39Speaker 1: the world. So if he was in a movie like
- 56:41Speaker 1: White Men Can't Jump, Vampire in Brooklyn School Days, the
- 56:46Speaker 1: list goes on. He was in quite a few things
- 56:48Speaker 1: when I was younger, I would gravitate towards his character
- 56:52Speaker 1: as the best character's character in those projects. I was
- 56:57Speaker 1: really joining to Anthony Michael Hall. I was just thinking,
- 56:59Speaker 1: you know, everything he played when he was young was
- 57:02Speaker 1: how I felt. I felt like the sort of nerdy
- 57:04Speaker 1: kid who you know, who could make people laughed and
- 57:07Speaker 1: was you know, I made friends by being a class clown,
- 57:11Speaker 1: you know, and so a lot of the parts, whether
- 57:15Speaker 1: it was you know, Weird Science or sixteen Candles or
- 57:20Speaker 1: Breakfast Club, I really related to him in those movies.
- 57:24Speaker 1: I really wanted to be Ferres Bueller more than anything.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Like when I saw Ferres Bueller's Day Off, I was like, man,
- 57:30Speaker 1: I wish I was that cool, Like I wanted to
- 57:31Speaker 1: be Ferres and John Cusack in Say Anything, I wanted
- 57:35Speaker 1: to be him. All of those movies are big parts
- 57:38Speaker 1: of my our big parts of my youth. Yeah you
- 57:41Speaker 1: say anything, Freaking sixteen Candles, Weird Science, you know, the
- 57:48Speaker 1: list goes on. All those John Hughes movies were huge
- 57:53Speaker 1: for me. The only problem I had with them was
- 57:55Speaker 1: that there were no black people in it, right, you
- 57:58Speaker 1: know what I mean? But those movies, like you know
- 58:02Speaker 1: a lot of the music that a lot of the songs,
- 58:05Speaker 1: I didn't even know all of the words to the songs,
- 58:06Speaker 1: but I knew, you know, when Lloyd did you should
- 58:10Speaker 1: uh was what was the song that he did? Uh?
- 58:13Speaker 1: Stop wait a minute, I knew you Yeah, is that
- 58:17Speaker 1: what that is? You should? Let me. No, No, that's
- 58:19Speaker 1: a little. That's a Mario. These just stamp fantas. Just
- 58:23Speaker 1: ain't words that I'm spending. I knew that he sampled ah, Papa,
- 58:32Speaker 1: I know this must be true, right, much is true?
- 58:39Speaker 1: And he goes baa baa, She's fun. But I want
- 58:49Speaker 1: you and I mean and nobody knew what that ship
- 58:52Speaker 1: was from. But because of my love of all of
- 58:54Speaker 1: these John Hughes movies and stuff, I knew where they
- 58:57Speaker 1: sampled you. Huh, it's called you. It's from two thousand
- 59:03Speaker 1: and six. Another one another? Do you have another one?
- 59:17Speaker 1: Do you have another? One? Another? One? Another one? Do
- 59:20Speaker 1: have another one? Um? So, Zach got a lot of
- 59:25Speaker 1: flak for having not seen Remember the Titans up until
- 59:28Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. So I've been thinking a
- 59:31Speaker 1: lot about some of Zach's philmography. Donald, I know you
- 59:36Speaker 1: have some kids. Have you seen Chicken Little? Yes? Okay,
- 59:41Speaker 1: I went from one Little? Did you really did? A
- 59:44Speaker 1: lot of people will be surprised, Devon. They don't know
- 59:46Speaker 1: that I'm the voice of Chicken Little. There's a Here's
- 59:49Speaker 1: a thing, Here's a thing, Devin. You can name pretty
- 59:52Speaker 1: much any movie Zach's been in I've seen it. That's
- 59:54Speaker 1: not true. Okay, what's the one you did with Michael Weston?
- 59:59Speaker 1: And uh? The last kiss? You like that one? No,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: there's another one that you two did together way before
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: you were ever um um getting to know you? Who
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: was the other? Who was the Yeah, she was in
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: that I've seen that movie. Uh. He also he also
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: did a movie called The Broken Hearts Club. Yep, broken
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: Heart seen that movie? Seen that movie? Uh? He also did.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Uh like we could go down his whole resume. I
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: promise you, I've seen everything. I didn't read Garden State,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: but I'm not a strong reader. I did read. I did,
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: I did? Uh? I did? Did you see Going in Style? What? Yes,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: I've seen. You didn't watch. I've watched. I've now watched
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Going in Style. I did not see it in the
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: theaters though. Oh that's fucked up, dude, No it's not.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: It's the truth. Though. I'm my first big studio movie
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I directed, and you didn't go see. You know your
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: first big movie you directed was Garden State. No, I'm
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: saying my first. It was my first and only so
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: far studio movie. I've directed it, and I directed these
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: three living legends. You couldn't fucking find the time to
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: go to the theater. See, this is what I'm talking about, Devin.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: You just started some fucking beef. I've seen the movie though,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: because you fucking rented it. I mean, if you're if
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you're my best friend, you're stalking taking the kids. Do
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: you want me to start naming my movie? Is it?
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: What movies? You? Shut the fuck up with this crap, dude,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: nobody wants to hear. I'm blowing out the mic. That's
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: how loud I'm getting right now. Let me turn it
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: down a little bit. Do you want to start this shit?
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Do you really want to start this ship? Do you
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: want to start this shit about how I've not seen
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: going in style in theaters. I can name movie after
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: movie after movie that I've been in that you've never
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: seen in your life. I've seen them. I saw Juice
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: in the theater. No you did it, Yes, you did it.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: You did not see Juice in the theater. I did.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I did, although it's cheating. It was in a screening
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: room at the driarback of Film Center. I was an
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: intern there and they invited me to see Juice, and
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I quite like, you're full of shit, dude, I know
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: you're full of shit. I was in high school. I
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: was a freshman. I was ninth grade when Juice came out.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I shut the fuck up. No,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: but can I defend myself? I was thinking. I was
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: thinking of Fresh? Are you in Fresh? I'm not in Fresh? Oh?
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Fresh is good? Have you guys seen Fresh? It's a
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: very underrated movie, dude, Fresh? It is very good. Direct
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: as Yak, who also directed Remember the Titans. You never
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: seen that, Joel? Have you seen Fresh? Yeah? Very good.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: I want our listeners to go. Directed by bo As Jakin,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: who also directed Remember the Titans? Now? Is that bo
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: as his first film? I think it may have been.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I think Price Above Rubies was his first. It's one
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: of those. It's either that one of I think one
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: of those. He's really a talented guy. He's very talented.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: What has he made lately? Has he made anything lately?
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: That He's written a lot of the Hostels, he wrote
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: a lot of The Dusk Till Dawns? Like he he's
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: changed up a little bit. He's more. He switched it
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: up a little bit. He's more comic book. Uh got it?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Horror now well, Devin, thank you for starting this fight. Um,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: we've got a good right. I know you had good
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: intentions and you were trying to make me. You were
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: trying to tell me under the bus, you know what.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I know what you were trying to do, but you
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: fucked up, Devin, Devin, I was I was going to
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: send you a message from from one of those guys,
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: but now you don't get over. I don't even know
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: what their names are, but you were gonna get one
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: from from No GTS kombucha for you. No No Gts
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: he's been, he's been ba all right by thank you
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: for coming on my Um Donald, you know want I
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: laugh at this whole bit with you giving Judy a
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: bus bass? Did I say bass? That was very funny?
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Did I say not just a nurse? Right? I love
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: I love the fact that that's where Turkey is. He's
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: that invested in his relationship that he's like, I know,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: my girlfriend could be doing so much better than she
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: is right now, and if I'm in the way, I
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: want to get out of the way and help her
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: achieve whatever it is that she wants to achieve. And
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: you know, being Turk, he just says it wrong. I
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: don't want you. I want you to feel like more
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: than just the nurds, just the nurse. Did I say
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: just a nurse? Well, he means as well, he means well,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: but he keeps putting his foot in his mouth and
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: she's like, you know, and she's saying, I love my job.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: I love what I do. Why why are people making it?
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of nurses, I would imagine, feel this,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: like it's such an honor to be a nurse. It's
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: so hard to become a nurse. And someone's like saying,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: you know, it's something with the attitude if you're just
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: a nurse. They're like, what, how fucking dare you? Do
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: you see? You know, see Carlos like, do you see
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: the pride that I have in what I do? Right?
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: And uh? And and I really like that. I thought
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: she was she was really good in this episode. Oh
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: she crushed it. Well she you know, Judy crushes every episode. Uh.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Elliot acknowledges j D's staring off into space. Yeah, she does.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: This episode. There's a funny moment where she says, uh,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: you're always starting off to space and I start to
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: stay and then I go, I don't stare off into
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: space like this, and then I go right into starry
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: off into space. That was fea. That's but yeah, I
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: mean I don't how does how does one get away
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: with daydreaming in front of someone when they're talking like
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: you're doing well, it's exaggerated for this show, but you
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: know we were all doing that. How many times are
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: you talking to someone you see them staring off and
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: then you go hello, like you kind of wave your
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: hand in front of their face, like I mean, I
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: do it to my wife all the time, where my
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: wife is talking to me and I'm just not there, yeah,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: and she'll be like, did you hear what I said?
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I'd be like yeah. She'd be like, repeat what I said,
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: and not just repeat what the last thing I remember
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: her saying, right, but you were still zoned out. I
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: was not there listening. I laughed at low when Kelsel
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: goes it's not because I got the name Johnny tattooed
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: on my butt. He's an old sailor buddy, And if
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: you knew what we went through, you'd understand. Yeah, we
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: should talk about the bungee jumping thing, which we've mentioned
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: on this podcast before, but two things I noticed this
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: time that you can clearly see that Sarah and I
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: are safety lined to the bridge and aren't going anywhere
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: from this bungee jump. If you pause it, you'll see
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: that there's a style line that ties us to the bridge,
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: so we're not going to accidentally fall off. And then
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: you can also see my mic right right under my collar.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: There's a big there's a there's a big puffy thing
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: that's my microphone. So there's two a little annoying wicky
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: scrubs wiki things. Yeah and um, and so we didn't
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: do this jump, and the two stunt people who did
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: it met this day and then got married. They fell
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: in love in this moment when they jumped off the
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: bridge together and are no longer married now. And now
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: now we learned the sad part of the story that
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: they got divorced, but you know, it is pretty romantic
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: that they met this way at least married for a
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: little while. Yeah. Absolutely, you know, I just to go
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: back a little bit. I really thought that was really
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: great of Elliott. You know, she's always being rescued in
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: these shows by you. You're always you know what I mean,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: And this is the one time where you're I told
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: you so backfires on you, and and and yes, she definitely,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: you know, rases you a little bit for it, but
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: in the end she's such a good friend. She's like,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: you know, we all need to take It's just like
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: I was saying from the beginning when I did the
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: when I did the recap. We all need to take chances,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: is what Eliot's saying. And here's one that here's one
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: that's perfect for us. This is going to scare the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: shit out of you. We're going to jump off of
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: a bridge together, but I'll be there with you. I
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: think that's I think it's an important life lesson that
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: the show tells people is the importance of not just
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: sitting on the stands, of getting on the court, as
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: they say, and participating and playing big. And these are
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: a lot of life lessons my father used to give
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: me about being brave and making bold choices and swinging
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: for the fences and asking the question you're positive someone's
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: going to say no too, But like just going for
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: putting yourself out there over and over and over again,
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: and and reaping the rewards when when you very often
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: get good results from it. Yeah, and Jade's not of that,
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: you know, when we've start off. J JD is a
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: let's wait and see type of person. And it's true,
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: you know, let's wait and see only gets you to
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: seeing what happens. It doesn't necessarily make it so that
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: you're in control of anything that happens. And certainly not
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Nothing exciting and new is going to happen that way,
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Nothing that's going to change your life. It's gonna You
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: can't just sit back and wait for life to happen
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: to you. You have to seize the day. Car car
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Bay dim as they as they say in Dead Poets Society,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: seize the day, Oh captain, my captain, um um. I
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: wanted to point out lastly that I was surprised to
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: know this far in it's very clear that Cox is
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: still pining for Carlo. You think, so, oh yeah, dude,
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: he doesn't go with Heather Lockleer's character, even though Heather
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: Lockleer is literally hitting on him and he's single and
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: she's single, and she's sitting provocatively on the front of
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: his car, and he doesn't go with her, and then uh,
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: and then you see him kind of staring at Judy
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: and being like, you know, I think it's pretty clear
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: to me, and my interpretation was that he's still sort
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: of pining over her, and when she talks about her
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: love for you, he then he then has a second
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: thought about it. I don't think so. I think I disagree.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I think he I'm sure there's still feelings for Carla.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Cox still has feelings for Carla, but I think he's
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: put them aside, because even at the dinner when she's like,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I love the fact that I'm at this dinner right now.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: My boyfriend's trying to eat his weight and meat. He's
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: bought his best friend with him this, you know, and
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: doctor Cox wants something that's not on the menu, wants
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: to eat something that's not on the menu, something like that,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and she's talking about Heather, and then he turns around
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: and he's like what he's because he wasn't paying attention.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: He was staring at have a Lockleyer's character. No, I
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: that wasn't my interpretation. My interpretation is that he's Uh.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: He goes and has a heart to heart with her.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: In when you're lying on the bed because your stomach
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: hurts in the hospital, they have like a bit of
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: a heart to heart and you're talking about how much
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: you you she's talking about how much she loves you,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: and then he yeah, but look he looks sad for
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: a minute, like like if you look at twenty two
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: thirty seven, he's got this sad look on his face
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: that to me reads I really need to let this go.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: This woman's in love with Turk. I don't know why
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'm still pining for her. Fuck it, I'm gonna go
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: meet Heather at the bar and maybe have a one
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: night stand. Who knows, but but I have to start
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: moving on. I didn't see it as that. I saw
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: it as a friend who and not we could dead
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: this after this. But I saw it as a friend
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: who listened to what was said. Turk went ahead and
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: try to get her involved in a program that would
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: grant her more power at the hospital, and Cox is like, dude,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: why don't you fucking take your boyfriend up on that
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Offer's that's a you'd crush that shit. You'd be really
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: good at it, And she's like, of course, i'd be
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: good at it. I know i'd be good at it.
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: I'm you know, I take pride in my job, and
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: the time that would be needed for me to crush
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: all of this would be time away from Turk and
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't want time away from Turk. Well,
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: it's up for interpretation. And if you're listening to this, um,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: you probably have your own opinion. Or if you don't remember,
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: you can go back and check it out. That's it.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: Thank you for listening. Everybody, don't forget to get the
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: ring tones, because everybody needs a ring tone. Everyone needs
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Donald going mmmmm as your notification. That right there is
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. Yes, another one, That's what I'm
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: talking about. That's that's what I'm talking about. Another one.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: We could just Donald and I could just make up
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: notification ideas for people's phones all day long. We should
