- 0:02Hey, welcome to the City Point Church podcast.
- 0:04Thanks for joining us. Every day is an opportunity to
- 0:07take hold of. So we hope this message inspires
- 0:10you and build your faith that it helps you have more of a God
- 0:13perspective for your day. Enjoy.
- 0:15I'm going. To start with a story, I've got
- 0:19a good story to tell. You know why it's good?
- 0:22Because it's a true story. It's a testimony of what God did
- 0:27in my life. I got saved.
- 0:30For those that don't know, I got saved seven years ago and praise
- 0:35God and early on I had this dream and vision that God had
- 0:42put in me to go to Bible college.
- 0:45I didn't know what it was. I didn't know it was a
- 0:47university. I had no idea where I was going.
- 0:51I just know that God had put this dream and was calling me
- 0:55into Bible college. Yes, I'd heard about it through
- 0:59the Grapevine and people would come up to me and say tji see
- 1:04Bible college all over your life and I thought to myself I might
- 1:08go check this out. So what do I do?
- 1:11I asked my wife to sign me up and she signs me up.
- 1:16I thought I was going to a life group that learned about the
- 1:19Bible. I had no idea you had a degree
- 1:22the after that that you would attend and get a degree.
- 1:25I had no idea that you could become a pastor through it.
- 1:29I was just going there because God just kept putting dreams in
- 1:33me. I'd wake up in the middle of the
- 1:34night and I would dream about Bible college and have visions.
- 1:38I forgot, I better stop this. I've got to go.
- 1:41And so I went, went on my merry way.
- 1:45And I had so much. I didn't have an idea of where I
- 1:50was and what I was doing. And I seen all these people that
- 1:54surrounded Bible college and they were saying doctor this and
- 1:57doctor that. I didn't know that you could
- 2:01have a doctrine in a different field.
- 2:04I went home to my wife. I said, I'm perplexed.
- 2:08I learned that word in Bible college.
- 2:13There's all these doctors over there.
- 2:15What are they doing? Is that where all the rich
- 2:16people hang out? Is that what they do?
- 2:19And I thought, you only have one doctor.
- 2:21It's a medical doctor. My wife, she laughed.
- 2:23She said, DJ, that's so funny. You could have a doctorate at
- 2:27any field. And I did not know that.
- 2:30And that was a good start to Bible college.
- 2:33And anyway, I would attend diligently full time.
- 2:36And I was only nine months into my salvation going there.
- 2:40You didn't know a lick of the Bible, hardly even knew Jesus,
- 2:43just knew that I encountered him and he was real and I was there
- 2:48and people would begin to speak these words and I never heard
- 2:51such vocabulary in my life. I was uneducated.
- 2:54My vocabulary, Larry was about that big.
- 2:58And I was thinking to myself, what are they saying?
- 3:02What are these words that are coming out of my their mouth?
- 3:05So all through the lecture I'd put my hand up.
- 3:07What does that word mean, Sir? What does exegesis mean?
- 3:11What does Officer Jesus mean? What is that?
- 3:14And I'd turn a three hour lecture into an 8 hour lecture.
- 3:19I even asked one question once. I said I was Hitler, the devil.
- 3:23I seriously had no idea. And he's like, teacher, I'll
- 3:26just see you after my class. He was so gracious to me.
- 3:31Then it got too hard. It got to the point where I had
- 3:34no idea that you had to do. They started talking about
- 3:37assignments and they started talking about referencing and
- 3:41doing all these 2000 word essays.
- 3:45The only essays I knew was my mates from Mexico.
- 3:53But here I am and I started doing it on my own strength and
- 3:59I thought I could do it alone, apart from God.
- 4:02Let me just give you a say. If you're in Bible college
- 4:04today, what you will do in Bible college, you'll replicate in
- 4:08ministry. What you will do in Bible
- 4:11college, you'll replicate in ministry.
- 4:14If you think you can get through Bible college without God,
- 4:16you'll think you can get Bible college.
- 4:18You think you can get into ministry without God too?
- 4:21There is no shortcuts like past the rights.
- 4:23Give a, a word a couple of years ago, two years ago to the dream
- 4:28team. There is no shortcuts to this.
- 4:30The anointing is real. You know when you got it and you
- 4:34know when you're done. So I end up taking off and I
- 4:39left church for two years and I didn't say a word to the Dean of
- 4:44the college. I didn't say a word to my
- 4:46pastors. I just left without notice.
- 4:49COVID happened and I let I use that as a cover up.
- 4:53Every excuse. Oh you know, never my fault
- 4:57until God sent a beautiful couple in this very church to
- 5:03come save me and my wife from that desert that I put myself in
- 5:06and my family. I LED my family inside a church
- 5:10and I let him ride out and God sent 2 beautiful family members
- 5:15to come and rescue us from our desert and they would walk
- 5:20through US, walk with us in this journey and bring us back to
- 5:23church. And God would do a beautiful
- 5:26work in my heart and I'll come back to church.
- 5:29And I felt this burning desire and unfinished business to go to
- 5:35those people and ask for forgiveness and are repented of
- 5:39what I did to their face. And I went to my Bible college
- 5:44Dean of the school and I met with him and I thought he was
- 5:47going to say, TJ, why didn't you call me?
- 5:50TJ could have helped you and I could have done this and I could
- 5:52have done that. But I walked out of that meeting
- 5:56feeling so uplifted. I felt like $1,000,000 that I
- 6:01promised myself I'd never walk into Bible college and somehow
- 6:04walked out of that meeting and said sign me up again.
- 6:11So I titled this message, Repentance is a superpower.
- 6:18Repentance is a superpower. It's freeing.
- 6:22It's freedom. Man.
- 6:24When I got my first taste of true repentance, I was hooked.
- 6:29I couldn't believe it. I was carrying around this
- 6:32weight for so long. I would toss and turn, even on
- 6:36my bed in the desert season, wondering about the people that
- 6:39are wronged and how I wronged God.
- 6:42But all it took was a moment of repentance that released me from
- 6:45the trap and from the snare and from the chain of unrepentance
- 6:50that led my heart to become hard.
- 6:53Repentance is a superpower, and for so long I wondered that
- 6:58word. I always wondered what is
- 7:00repentance because for me, from the outside in, I always assumed
- 7:05repentance had to do when it was like when you got in trouble by
- 7:09your parents. You've been a bad boy, naughty,
- 7:14bad times. Or associated repentance with
- 7:17hell condemnation because the way I've seen some people preach
- 7:22on it, Repent now you go on to hell.
- 7:25OK, fair enough. But repentance in the Bible is
- 7:31so beautiful and that's what I want to highlight the beauty of
- 7:34repentance. See it's biblical meaning is in
- 7:38the Old Testament is to turn, to return, to turn back to God.
- 7:44And in the New Testament it says it like this, to change, to
- 7:49change one's mind, one's thinking, to change your
- 7:52thought. See, we make repentance and
- 7:56think about it. This big thing that has to
- 7:59happen. Like Jonah and Nineveh, where he
- 8:02went there and he preached and he told them what God had told
- 8:06him, and they threw on sackcloth and ashes and they went into a
- 8:11time of fasting. That is amazing.
- 8:14But repentance can be as small as this.
- 8:18Oh, I never seen it that way. And you've changed your mind and
- 8:24you're thinking according to the word of God, the truth that He's
- 8:28given you. There's been so many times.
- 8:32Thank you for that bell. There's been so many times where
- 8:35I have spoken to an elder in this church and I believe one
- 8:40way wholeheartedly and they've gone on.
- 8:42TJ, that's just not true. But I said, yes, it is.
- 8:48They're like, no, it's not. It's in your word.
- 8:50And I would go home and I'd read it because I want to know for
- 8:52myself. And I'd go to my word and I'd
- 8:57see that they were right. And I'd have a change in my
- 9:00thinking and a change in my thought pattern around that,
- 9:04which changed my action. It changed my belief around what
- 9:08I believed. And that's transformation,
- 9:11right? But nobody attributes that to
- 9:16repentance. We all give that word
- 9:21transformation, and it deserves it too.
- 9:24Such a big praise party. But seldomly do we realize that
- 9:29repentance is the vehicle and road in which we come to that
- 9:33place of transformation. We can ask our brothers and
- 9:39sisters today, especially if you're discipling somebody, what
- 9:46is your prayer life like? We all know that question.
- 9:49Everyone knows that question. What is your prayer life like?
- 9:55But the question is this. That I think is equally
- 9:59important. What is your repentant life
- 10:02like? What is your repentant life
- 10:07like? Have you kept up to repentance,
- 10:11beloved? But, TJ, what are you telling
- 10:15me? I thought our sins are forgiven.
- 10:17Yes. They're forgiven eternally from
- 10:20condemnation. We're forgiven from eternal
- 10:24death. But don't stay in that place
- 10:29where we think we've graduated from repenting.
- 10:34Because that place leaves you stuck.
- 10:36That place robs you from transformation.
- 10:40It's a continual process. See the Apostle Paul says this
- 10:45in Acts 26 verses 20. If we can go there in our Bibles
- 10:51or take notes today, he says I preach first to those in
- 10:56Damascus who knows Paul, man, come on then in Jerusalem and
- 11:03through it all Judea and it also to the Gentiles that what all
- 11:11must repent of their sins and turn to God that all must
- 11:19repent, not some, not a not a few, not the ones that have come
- 11:23to Christianity that all must repent and turn to God.
- 11:27And here's a key and prove they have changed by the good things
- 11:31they do. Man, there's proof around your
- 11:38repentant life. You know, John says it this way,
- 11:43The the John the Baptist, he says produce fruit by keeping up
- 11:50to repentance. Who's ever made that connection
- 11:57with repentance and producing fruit?
- 12:01Are you kidding me? By by keeping up to repentance,
- 12:05that means there's something producing in our life and that's
- 12:08fruit. Maybe sometimes we we feel like
- 12:11we have going through an unfruitful season or an
- 12:14unfruitful time. Maybe it's time we got back on
- 12:18that place where we're like God. I, I live a life of repentance
- 12:22to produce fruit in my life. Proof.
- 12:29The evidence is transformation, but how we get there is through
- 12:35living a life of continual repentance.
- 12:40See, repentance is not about bringing you down and for your
- 12:43demise, but Christ to lift you up and lift you up and edify you
- 12:47and bring you to a a place deeper in relationship with Him
- 12:51and transformation. No longer you think that way.
- 12:54No longer you act that way. No longer you believe that way
- 12:58because the word of God has got inside of you and you've been
- 13:02transformed in the inside out and no longer will I walk that
- 13:05way. See, there's some people in here
- 13:07today that no longer longer do things they did five years ago,
- 13:1110 years ago. Why?
- 13:13Yes, because of transformation. But let me tell you, I celebrate
- 13:16yous today because that comes from repentance, the vehicle and
- 13:21road. And which got you to
- 13:22transformation. One of the greatest
- 13:31illustrations of the beautiful nature of repentance comes from
- 13:39the story in the Holy Bible about the Prodigal Son.
- 13:43I could cry here, so it's OK, we can cry together.
- 13:49But the prodigal son, he thought he had a better way.
- 13:56He believed the grass is greener on the other side.
- 14:01Maybe he's seen his father's bank statements and thought he's
- 14:04holding that here. I need to get me some
- 14:07inheritance. And quick, why wait?
- 14:12There's a good life there, there.
- 14:13All my mates are drinking, all my mates are doing party life.
- 14:16But I'm missing out here on the farm eating farm food.
- 14:24I want Mackers and Hungry Jacks like my mates, but Dad's got me
- 14:28on a strict diet. And maybe he thought, you know
- 14:32what, Dad wouldn't mind if I took some inheritance early.
- 14:40I know you're getting old now, but you know I've had enough.
- 14:45An actual fact, you got your bank statement the other day and
- 14:48the reason why you couldn't find it is because I was reading it
- 14:50for two hours. So we off he goes with his
- 14:56inheritance, but then life happens.
- 15:01See, The thing is, the inheritance here without Christ
- 15:06is nothing. But you've got an eternal
- 15:10inheritance in his name's Jesus, and that never runs out.
- 15:17You think you can hear on earth and spending on on good times
- 15:23and spending on on on things that that aren't of eternal they
- 15:28they lead to brokenness. They lead a down.
- 15:30Trust me, I've been through everything in life where I've
- 15:33tasted and I've seen what this world's got to offer and they
- 15:37give me a piece just for a moment and then he'll come back
- 15:40and with interest and absolutely rob me every time.
- 15:45But God's eternal inheritance in Jesus Christ.
- 15:48You know that he calls you and his his inheritance.
- 15:51How amazing is that? But the prodigal, he said verses
- 15:5617, it says when he come to his senses, another version says he
- 16:00come to his own man. Imagine what he was feeling.
- 16:04He's he's come broke now he's finished his inheritance.
- 16:09And he said how many of my father's hired servants have
- 16:13food to spare? He knows that.
- 16:17And here I am starving to death. I will set out and go back to my
- 16:23Father and say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and
- 16:28against you. How many of us have done that
- 16:35when we've gone to somebody and say, I have not only sinned
- 16:37against you, but I've sinned against heaven, I've sinned
- 16:41against God in you. I'll repent for my mistake.
- 16:50He says, I'll set out and go back to my father and say to
- 16:52him, Father, I've sinned against heaven and against you.
- 16:55Verses 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
- 16:59Make me like one of your hired servants.
- 17:02Don't even give me the position of being to be called son
- 17:06anymore. So he got up and went to his
- 17:08father, But while he was still a long way off, some of us can
- 17:14still feel a long way off. But this is the beautiful nature
- 17:20about repentance. It's displayed here.
- 17:23Is that what happens when we come to Father God in a repented
- 17:27heart and how His response is in the Bible every time.
- 17:30If you read and read the response of true repentance, you
- 17:35will see what our God did with that.
- 17:38It's not for your demise. It's not for your destructions,
- 17:41but it's beautiful. It's magnificent.
- 17:45It frees you. And he saw him and he was filled
- 17:49with compassion for him. And he ran to his son.
- 17:52That was a cultural unknown in that time.
- 17:56And he threw his arms around him and kissed him.
- 18:03That's our Father's response when we repent.
- 18:08His response is this. And the son said to him, Father,
- 18:12I've sinned against heaven and against you.
- 18:14I'm no longer worthy to be called your son.
- 18:17But the father said to his servants, quick, quickly, bring
- 18:24the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and
- 18:27sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill
- 18:32it. Let's have a feast and
- 18:33celebrate. For this son of mine was dead
- 18:36and is alive again. He was lost and and now found.
- 18:40So they began to celebrate. Let me tell you, beloved, when
- 18:45you come to God in this way, in true repentance, there is a
- 18:49celebration. God saying, come on my son, come
- 18:53on my daughter, I want to celebrate you that you've had
- 18:56this hard position to come to me and now I'm going to transform
- 19:02you in this area in your life. Our Father is this is his
- 19:06heavenly nature to when we come to him like this, He will never
- 19:11turn his back on us no matter what.
- 19:17True repentance isn't about shaming you for your demise of
- 19:20destruction. It's about Jesus lifting you up
- 19:24and restoring you to freedom and a transformation in him.
- 19:31It's about transforming you, getting into your mind and your
- 19:35thoughts that one way you were thinking this way, He wants to
- 19:39get in to those areas in your life.
- 19:43And I'll use tithing for an example for some of us here
- 19:47today, and this isn't about trying to put you down, but I'm
- 19:51saying that when we come into that place and we say, God, oh,
- 19:55I can't give you that area in my life that that's the area that
- 20:00God won't work in because you haven't give him permission.
- 20:02He's a gentleman. He wants to get into that part
- 20:06of your life and transform you and take you to a higher level
- 20:09and bless you with His blessing and give you his favor.
- 20:14But when we come before and say, you know what, God, I haven't
- 20:18let you in in that part of my life.
- 20:21I'll ever haven't let you into that part of my mind.
- 20:23I haven't let you into that part of my heart.
- 20:26But here I am, Father God. I repent, but not only do I
- 20:31repent, would you teach me and show me and strengthen me in
- 20:37this area? You don't do it alone.
- 20:42There is a Father that's running after you today, and maybe you
- 20:47come to church today and this is your first time.
- 20:50And I thank you so much for coming to church and being in
- 20:55this great church. The Father's been running after
- 20:58you for a long time, and there's no mistake that you're in this
- 21:03place today. This is who Father God is.
- 21:07There is a robe, there is a ring, there is new sandals and a
- 21:10celebration for you. All that take up the name of
- 21:14Jesus and call upon His name, Whoever believe in Him and put
- 21:24their faith in Him will not perish.
- 21:26You will receive eternal life and that's the good news today.
- 21:30There is joy and repentance. It's not for your destruction,
- 21:35but for your transformation. Repentance is a superpower.
- 21:41See Edwin Lewis Cole said this about the prodigal.
- 21:44I love this quote because he picked up on a pattern about the
- 21:48prodigal son. And the pattern of the prodigal
- 21:52is this rebellion, ruin. And in the middle of repentance,
- 22:01reconciliation, restoration, he rebelled, come to ruin, he
- 22:09repented, was reconciled and restored back to his father.
- 22:15Let me tell you today, maybe you've tasted this world for way
- 22:19too long and the world is giving you nothing but grief and you've
- 22:23been living life the same way for 1520 years and it hasn't
- 22:27worked out for you. And you keep trying and trying
- 22:30again. But let me give you this today.
- 22:32Have you tried Jesus? Have you tried Jesus?
- 22:36Have you put Jesus on? Have you give Jesus?
- 22:39You'll have you. Have you wanted to say, you know
- 22:41what, God, I'll give you my life.
- 22:45See how that works out for you and keep coming to church and
- 22:48fellowship and see how your life gets transformed and changed.
- 22:54That's repentance right there, where you turn away from the old
- 22:58way of living, turn away from the old man.
- 23:00And he said he'd put his spirit in you and he'd make you a new
- 23:04creation, a new person. You can't even help it.
- 23:07You can't even earn it. He just does it.
- 23:10I remember one guy said to me today, a while ago, was down at
- 23:14the Bribie Island jetty, I just love to talk to people.
- 23:21And I was evangelizing to him, giving him the gospel and the
- 23:24good news. And he said, how'd you change,
- 23:27mate? And I was like, hey, hook, line
- 23:34and sinker, ask me that again, brother.
- 23:38You know, you just bait them. You bait them into those
- 23:41questions, man. I'll tell you what, it's not my
- 23:43favorite thing. It's awesome.
- 23:47Let me tell you. I changed and he took a step
- 23:51back and he was fairly offended at what I said.
- 23:57And he said, what do you mean? No, no, that was all you, you,
- 24:00you did that. That's what you did.
- 24:02And, and, and let me tell you, you've worked hard for that.
- 24:05Don't you dare. And I said, I understand where
- 24:09you're coming from, but the truth is this.
- 24:13I tried everything, brother. Everything.
- 24:17Every single thing. I tried it and it didn't work.
- 24:21And I tried Jesus and it worked. Jesus, the name of Jesus.
- 24:29He's the only one. He's the one that transforms
- 24:32you. He's the one that gets inside of
- 24:34you and transforms you. He's the one.
- 24:36He's the one. He's the one.
- 24:39He's the one for this community. He's the one for your family.
- 24:42He's the one for your friends. Come on, Jesus, He's the one.
- 24:49He's the one. There's no way I could have done
- 24:52that on my own. He's the one I'd help all along.
- 24:57Just like that Bible college story, I end up coming back to
- 25:02that place. Two years, 2 1/2 years, I stayed
- 25:07in that place and I finished only because of Christ and the
- 25:11Spirit that he's given me. And I remembered and he
- 25:14strengthened me. And I said, oh, that's right,
- 25:15God, this isn't for me to take over myself.
- 25:20This isn't my ministry. This isn't my mission.
- 25:23I had a moment of repentance that led me into transformation.
- 25:29You know how freeing that is. People talk about addictions and
- 25:32they say, you know how bad that is.
- 25:34Yeah, fair enough. But those addictions turned into
- 25:40something now where I'm addicted.
- 25:42I can't wait to get in His word. I can't wait to get into prayer,
- 25:46man. I'm addicted to the presence of
- 25:48God. How much more can we be addicted
- 25:52to freedom? Man, I'm fully sold out to
- 25:55freedom. There's so many old Search my
- 25:58heart. Oh Lord, why was David saying
- 26:00that? Search me so I can repent, so I
- 26:04can transform God search what's in me that I can't see so I
- 26:09could repent and transform so I can change the way I think so I
- 26:13can change my belief system, so I can change what I what I
- 26:17thought was true, but I was deceived, but only by the word
- 26:21of God that you've brought in a sword that cut me going in.
- 26:26And yes, it hurts sometimes, but brothers and sisters, let me
- 26:30tell you, we not allow that sword of the spirit, which is
- 26:34sharper than any other sword, to have its time to come out and
- 26:38heal. So many of us don't give the
- 26:43opportunity of the Word of God to heal.
- 26:46It's the only sword I know that cuts and heals at the same time.
- 26:54But so many will get in this, let it cut their heart and stay
- 27:01in that place and allow God. We've got to allow God to let
- 27:06the washing of the world, let the healing of the world, let
- 27:09the transformation and the renewing of the mind as the band
- 27:15comes up, Oh God, God's magnificent.
- 27:23He's wonderful. Repentance is beautiful.
- 27:29Maybe repentance has had a bad shade, but the more I read the
- 27:34word, the more beautiful and wonderful and freeing it is.
- 27:41It's not for your demise. Repentance is for every
- 27:46Christian. Repentance should be in a daily
- 27:51lifestyle, quick and ready to repent, to turn away.
- 27:58And I know even for me, there's things that I don't know right
- 28:01now, and I'll be honest with you that I'm waiting for God to
- 28:05come, waiting and waiting. I do this every day.
- 28:10God, I shouldn't have thought like that.
- 28:13I'm sorry. But repentance is more than a
- 28:16good sorry. It's about your faith in action
- 28:21that leads to repentance, that leads to transformation.
- 28:25The proof on your life that something has taken place in
- 28:31your mind, in your heart, is that you've actioned towards God
- 28:38and allowed that transformation to happen.
- 28:43We no longer can sit in limbo and linger and stagnant.
- 28:51There's areas in our life that God wants in all the time
- 28:56because He wants to free you, would set you up into a higher
- 29:00place and edify you, would lift you up a life of repentance.
- 29:09I've given 3 scriptures here that will help us practice this
- 29:14way of living. One of them is a lifetime verse
- 29:18for me. Number one.
- 29:21Romans chapter 2 verses 4 in the new King James Version says
- 29:25this. This is Paul speaking the
- 29:28apostle. Or do you despise the riches of
- 29:32His goodness, forbearance and long-suffering ready, not
- 29:40knowing that the goodness of God lead you to repentance?
- 29:49That's different. The goodness of God leads you to
- 29:53repentance. And another version that says
- 29:57kindness. So hold up.
- 30:02It's not shame that leads me there.
- 30:06It's not guilt that leads me there.
- 30:10It's not condemnation that leads me there.
- 30:13What is it? It's His goodness and His
- 30:17kindness. So when you're in that moment
- 30:23and you've come to God and you're, you're standing in
- 30:25repentance, celebrate and be overjoyed that his goodness has
- 30:30LED you there, that his kindness has LED you there.
- 30:34Oh God, how exciting is that? So instead of being Lord and
- 30:42focus on your sin all the time, one big key God give me in a
- 30:47revelation he give me was that I had trouble overcoming some
- 30:52addictions when I first come to Christ.
- 30:56You know that scripture fix your eyes on Jesus.
- 30:59It didn't say fix your eyes on your sin.
- 31:01It says fix your eyes on Jesus and instead of focusing on my
- 31:07sin and focusing, I turned and I repented and I turned to God and
- 31:13I said, oh God, you're magnificent, You're wonderful.
- 31:17You're the one that strengthens me.
- 31:18You're the one that's put your spirit in me.
- 31:21Father, I know that my sin is great.
- 31:24Forgive me and help me and teach me.
- 31:27I need you God and I'll keep focusing on you.
- 31:31Like Pastor Andrew Stagg says, what has got your attention has
- 31:35got you. What grabs your attention, grabs
- 31:38you. What's grabbed you today,
- 31:41Church, What's captivated you today?
- 31:44Is it Christ or your sin? What do we focus on?
- 31:48I'm not trying to say sweep it under the carpet, come to God
- 31:51honestly and truthfully, but fix your eyes on the author of life.
- 31:56Fix your eyes on Christ. Fix your eyes on Jesus, on
- 32:01Jesus, on Jesus, on Jesus. That's the key there.
- 32:07Be excited that His goodness and His kindness has LED you to that
- 32:11place #2 in Joel chapter 2 verses 13 in the NIV says this.
- 32:26Rend your heart and not your garments.
- 32:32Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and
- 32:38compassionate. There's that word, compassionate
- 32:41again, slow to anger, abounding in love, and He relents from
- 32:50sending calamity. Rend your heart and not your
- 32:57garments. He's saying here there's no
- 33:01substitute for your heart, Rend your heart.
- 33:06Don't rend your time for a substitute for him.
- 33:10Don't rend your money for a substitute for him.
- 33:15We're not coming to him and trying to substitute, but he
- 33:20said just give me your heart, rend your heart to him.
- 33:23Offer it up to him for him to do a deep work and and partner with
- 33:29God work with him so many times. I want to God to ZAP me.
- 33:37He ZAP me all right, ZAP me with truth and conviction.
- 33:43Get up. I want to partner with you TJ in
- 33:46relationship. It's going to be hard.
- 33:49They're going to be tough times, but I'm with you.
- 33:56Rend your heart every day before you look at your phone, before
- 34:02you start your day here. I am God, for you to use a
- 34:08living vessel, A chosen instrument.
- 34:11Start speaking identity over yourself.
- 34:13Beloved. I'm loved today, brother.
- 34:18Almighty God, I rend you my heart.
- 34:20God. Thank you, father #3 Revelation
- 34:272, verses four and five. I love this Scripture.
- 34:31This is my lifelong Scripture because I know what it was like
- 34:36to fall out of the love of God, and I know what it was like to
- 34:41be restored in His loving arms in repentance.
- 34:44And here's a key here. It says, yet I hold this against
- 34:49you. He's talking to the Ephesus
- 34:50church, but it applies to us today.
- 34:53You have forsaken the love. You had it first.
- 34:59I've done that. I've forsaken the love I had at
- 35:02first when I first got saved, man, I remember being so
- 35:07overcome by His love. I knew that there was a God.
- 35:13I knew Jesus was real in that moment.
- 35:15Just one touch, one revelation, I knew and I was overcome by His
- 35:21love. I never knew a love like that,
- 35:25but that was immense, that was intense, that was supernatural.
- 35:30I've never felt love like that from a human being, ever.
- 35:34But that love of God, and I still can't comprehend it.
- 35:36I still can't fathom, and I'm good with that, His depth of his
- 35:41love. But for us, some of us, maybe
- 35:46the love has gone cold. And here's a real key for you
- 35:49today. Maybe you, you have you just
- 35:52saying God, I don't know where you are anymore.
- 35:54I can't feel you anymore. I, I used to remember being in
- 36:00your presence like that and I would feel you in a certain way,
- 36:03but I can't even remember the last time I spoke to you.
- 36:09I feel empty. This verse is for you.
- 36:14Verses 5 is a real key here. It says consider how far you
- 36:18have fallen. There's a consideration of how
- 36:23you how far you have fallen. If that's you today, you look
- 36:26back from your salvation and you consider how far you have walked
- 36:31away from the living God. He never walked away from you.
- 36:36Just like Adam and Eve, when they sinned, where did they go?
- 36:39They went hid. Men and women, brothers and
- 36:45sisters, children of God have been hiding from God ever since.
- 36:51They've been hiding from God the shame, the condemnation that the
- 36:58world tells them that the enemy comes in and deceives God,
- 37:02saying consider how far you have fallen ready, repent, Consider
- 37:08how far you've fallen. Repent and watch this.
- 37:12What does it say up there? And do the things you did at
- 37:16first. Do you remember when you first
- 37:20got saved, what you did? Do you remember how long you
- 37:25spent in your word? Do you remember how long you
- 37:30prayed to the living God? Do you remember how excited you
- 37:34were when God encountered you and when you knew the love of
- 37:39Christ and there was nothing else that could compare?
- 37:43And man, you just couldn't wait to get home after work and be
- 37:47and sit with Jesus. And you couldn't wait after
- 37:51being having such a long day to go to life group and share and
- 37:56listen to the brothers and sisters and have fellowship.
- 37:59You couldn't wait to church and and praise, worship Him in
- 38:04spirit and in truth. Oh man.
- 38:07But life gets in the way and it tries and, and and this
- 38:17decreases and prayer decreases and our tanks start to empty and
- 38:28the enemy comes in and he starts to deceive.
- 38:33He tell you lies. He tell you who you you are when
- 38:37God is saying something totally different and he's telling you
- 38:40who you are in here. He's saying I'm made in you.
- 38:45You're made in my image, that you are loved.
- 38:49It says if you do not repent, I'll come to you and remove your
- 38:55lamp step from its place. And it can feel like that.
- 38:59Oh man, I know what it's like to to live in darkness after I've
- 39:03encountered God. I know what it's like to feel
- 39:06the love of God grow cold in me. Man, it's the worst knowing God,
- 39:14but knowing that you keep walking away from him, walking
- 39:17away from the only source of goodness, the only source of
- 39:20love. He doesn't remove himself from
- 39:26you like you see in the prodigal son.
- 39:28Every time you you repent and say I'm no longer walking this
- 39:33way. I've had enough.
- 39:35I've come to my senses. Oh God, I repent.
- 39:39I repent because I know you're good.
- 39:41This world ain't going to give me the love that you have.
- 39:44This world isn't going to speak over me like you do.
- 39:47I'm turning away from that whole way.
- 39:50Oh Jesus, and I'm turning towards you right now and I'm
- 39:53making a decision right now. Consider, repent, and do the
- 40:02things you've done at first. Like I said this morning,
- 40:06there's some things that I have too have put down when I when I
- 40:12first encountered Christ and now it's time for me to pick those
- 40:17things back up. Church.
- 40:20It's time that we get excited about being in the presence of
- 40:24God. It's time that we get excited
- 40:27about coming to church again. Oh, it's time that we get
- 40:31excited about being with Jesus and telling him and letting him
- 40:35wash over you. It's time that we invite that
- 40:38family member. It's time that we no longer
- 40:41stand in line in shopping center and not tell the person next to
- 40:45us about the hope in which we hold, about the living hope in
- 40:49which we carry, and about the Holy Spirit in which you have
- 40:54been filled all. Its time.
- 40:55You don't do it on your own, it's with Him.
