- 0:02Word to the wise,
- 0:04don't eat almonds before you have to talk
- 0:06on a mic.
- 0:07Almond skins stick to the back of your
- 0:09throat.
- 0:11But we're also going to talk about some
- 0:12cool shit next week.
- 0:24I love the chase and the hunt,
- 0:25and I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:27I always take what I want,
- 0:28and I always give it one hundred.
- 0:30Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:32Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:33I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:34Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:36Now wake up!
- 0:37It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:40Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:42friend to me.
- 0:43It's not working out,
- 0:44maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:45It's time to break up so I can
- 0:47make a better man.
- 0:52It's lunch time!
- 0:54What is going on, everybody?
- 0:56We are back and better than ever on
- 0:59a Tuesday afternoon.
- 1:00It's the Clydesdale and Cowboy hanging
- 1:04out.
- 1:05The quarterfinals are done.
- 1:07And there's a really fit woman in the
- 1:10chat.
- 1:11Yes, she is.
- 1:13Really fit.
- 1:16Not only did she crush the open,
- 1:19she crushed the quarterfinals.
- 1:21Top ten finish in her age group.
- 1:25Lito Caligiani.
- 1:28Did I get that close?
- 1:30Caligiani.
- 1:32I don't know if that's right or not.
- 1:33I just made that up,
- 1:34but it sounds good.
- 1:39Ridiculously fit, dude.
- 1:40I was chatting with her yesterday.
- 1:42She smashed it.
- 1:43It's insane.
- 1:44And they just keep coming, man.
- 1:46Denise just popping in here.
- 1:49CrossFit Games champion.
- 1:52All we need is Shanna Bunce to jump
- 1:53in with the CrossFit Games championship.
- 1:56I'm sure she's coming.
- 2:00She said I did very good.
- 2:01Very good.
- 2:03She gave me the... Are there, Shanna?
- 2:10We got all the fit women here today.
- 2:13Love it, dude.
- 2:14Love it, love it, love it.
- 2:16So yesterday I teased something about Ben
- 2:20Bergeron.
- 2:22Oh, God, yes.
- 2:22I forgot all about it.
- 2:24It's been a whirlwind.
- 2:26I was leafing through YouTube and I saw
- 2:32this thumbnail pop up.
- 2:45so it now i have to so i
- 2:47teased this yesterday yeah because i think
- 2:51it's pretty well known that matt was kind
- 2:54of fit before he got to ben and
- 2:58he was really fit after ben and
- 3:06I have to, gosh, how do I?
- 3:09If there is one person that I kind
- 3:12of despise in CrossFit, it's Ben Bergeron.
- 3:20And what's crazy is when I first got
- 3:21into CrossFit and I was like drinking
- 3:24Kool-Aid out of both hands and all that
- 3:27stuff,
- 3:27I listened to Chasing Excellence like
- 3:29every time it came on.
- 3:31But the dude,
- 3:32all the dude does is talking cliches.
- 3:35Big ones.
- 3:36It's a ten-point system for building a
- 3:40better mindset.
- 3:41It's the six-point system for this.
- 3:44Everything's a TED Talk.
- 3:46Everything's in bullets.
- 3:47Everything's in cliches.
- 3:53And so I had to hear what he
- 3:54had to say about building the fittest man
- 3:57in the world.
- 4:01So I got,
- 4:01I don't know if you saw the red
- 4:03line.
- 4:03I did not make it through this podcast.
- 4:05I would imagine you didn't.
- 4:08I guarantee you this much,
- 4:09you got further than I would have.
- 4:11You could write that part down right now.
- 4:13But I made it as far as the
- 4:14discussion on Matt Frazier.
- 4:15Mm-hmm.
- 4:18And in all fairness,
- 4:21this is not chasing excellence.
- 4:23This is not his podcast.
- 4:24He did not create this thumbnail.
- 4:27It was somebody else.
- 4:30Uh, her name is Dr. Kristin Holmes.
- 4:34He was on with her.
- 4:36She's the one that created that thumbnail.
- 4:38He never claims in the podcast that he
- 4:40built the fittest man on earth.
- 4:43Thank God.
- 4:45And actually,
- 4:46he takes a very subdued approach to it,
- 4:49which I was really surprised about.
- 4:52Good for him.
- 4:55He actually says that he only discovered
- 5:00Matt because he tried to get into a
- 5:02competition he was holding.
- 5:05And he submitted a video because it was
- 5:08by invite only,
- 5:09or you could submit a video of this
- 5:11one workout.
- 5:13And then if you got it,
- 5:15if you had like a great score and
- 5:16he,
- 5:17the best score in was seven minutes and
- 5:19Matt submitted his at three.
- 5:22Wow.
- 5:23And so that's why Bergeron let him in.
- 5:25And before the competition even happened,
- 5:27Ben reached out to him and said, Hey,
- 5:28I'd like to help you if you'd move
- 5:30to Boston.
- 5:32And so he did.
- 5:33But he said, listen,
- 5:34I was just helping him.
- 5:35He already had the gymnastics.
- 5:37He already had the weightlifting.
- 5:39He already had the drive.
- 5:43And I just kind of was there to
- 5:45help guide everything around it.
- 5:48And he said he even hired like movement
- 5:53specific coaches that worked with him and
- 5:57all that stuff.
- 5:58That was not me at all.
- 6:00Like he hired a nutritionist.
- 6:02He hired a weightlifting coach.
- 6:05So whoever this chick is,
- 6:07Andrew Hiller does like putting up the
- 6:10clickbait headline.
- 6:11Yeah.
- 6:12Okay.
- 6:14And the rest of the podcast was the
- 6:16guiding principles and the six bullet
- 6:20points of this,
- 6:21the eight bullet points of that,
- 6:22the ten bullet points of that.
- 6:23Standard Ben Bajeron babbling nonsense.
- 6:27Got it.
- 6:29But I was thinking about it,
- 6:29and you know I'm a sports fan and
- 6:31everything else, especially football.
- 6:34And I think of Ben Bergeron as that
- 6:36coach.
- 6:37And I compare him to like Mike Martz.
- 6:40And if you don't know who Mike Martz
- 6:41was,
- 6:41he was the offensive coordinator of the
- 6:44Rams of the early two thousands that were
- 6:47known as the greatest show on turf.
- 6:48The Kurt Warner, Marshall Falk,
- 6:52Isaac Bruce, Torrey Holt.
- 6:54It could not be stopped.
- 6:57But whenever Mike Martz went to coach
- 6:59anybody else, he failed miserably.
- 7:03Because he had one system that worked for
- 7:05this group and never developed or adapted
- 7:11to anybody else.
- 7:13And that's the way I view Ben Bergeron.
- 7:18He was good with Katrin.
- 7:23Pause.
- 7:28In all fairness, he truly did coach her.
- 7:31And she won two championships.
- 7:34Back to back.
- 7:35But when he tried to make a training
- 7:37center and he brought people in,
- 7:40most of them broke down and didn't even
- 7:41make it through a season.
- 7:43No, it failed miserably.
- 7:47So I looked,
- 7:48I looked at that as that same guy,
- 7:52that coach that cannot,
- 7:54he has the same cliches he had in
- 7:56two thousand twelve when I first started
- 7:58listening to him.
- 7:59Nothing has changed.
- 8:01He doesn't adapt and develop.
- 8:05No, and the game has changed.
- 8:08The game has changed from when I started
- 8:09CrossFit, period, and started competing,
- 8:11which is about a year after I started.
- 8:13It was when I started realizing you could
- 8:14compete and started doing local comps and
- 8:16stuff like that.
- 8:18It's not the same thing, dude.
- 8:20That was twenty eighteen is now twenty
- 8:21twenty six, eight years in and.
- 8:26Training methods have changed.
- 8:30Equipment has changed, gotten better,
- 8:32developed grips.
- 8:34You have to take all that kind of
- 8:35stuff into account.
- 8:37Mindset stuff has definitely shifted from
- 8:40what it used to be to what it
- 8:41is now.
- 8:42You think for half a second that somebody
- 8:45would throw dirt on Jason Hopper while he
- 8:47was doing push-ups and they would get away
- 8:49with that?
- 8:54no because i can pretty much promise you
- 8:56that wouldn't go that wouldn't fly would
- 8:59not fly all right i followed comp train
- 9:04for a very long time um and all
- 9:09credit to it because it you know their
- 9:11extra programming definitely helped me
- 9:12along um as far as that goes but
- 9:15once i switched it was absolutely insane
- 9:19what it's what my journey's been like
- 9:20since then so
- 9:22And I did the same thing as you,
- 9:24like when I first got in and I
- 9:25figured out who he was and listened to
- 9:27his stuff and like, man,
- 9:28this is really good stuff.
- 9:29And then after a while,
- 9:31it's like you could go through his podcast
- 9:33collection and it's the same talk.
- 9:36Yeah,
- 9:36just put the first ten episodes on loop
- 9:38and you get it all.
- 9:41It's the same over and over again.
- 9:44He's been having the same six
- 9:46conversations, eight conversations,
- 9:48whatever it is,
- 9:49for God only knows how long.
- 9:52Daniel says Comtrain might have been the
- 9:54absolute worst online programming that
- 9:55ever existed.
- 9:58So I would,
- 9:59I don't know if worst ever existed.
- 10:02I would argue that just from, right.
- 10:05I would argue that from my own experience,
- 10:07it has ups and downs in the,
- 10:09let's see, nineteen, twenty,
- 10:12twenty five or so years that I did
- 10:14it.
- 10:15It definitely went through cycles,
- 10:17but I feel like all programs do that
- 10:18kind of stuff, right?
- 10:20You have good months, you have bad months,
- 10:21you have good seasons,
- 10:22you have bad seasons.
- 10:26In the past couple of years,
- 10:27especially since they're no longer comp
- 10:30trained, they are complete training.
- 10:32It has completely gone to crap,
- 10:35in my opinion.
- 10:40Here's my beef with it.
- 10:42My gym did it for five years, maybe.
- 10:48It was the most boring thing.
- 10:51training I've ever done.
- 10:52I'm never going to be a games athlete.
- 10:55That was never my goal coming into this.
- 10:58I just wanted to have fun with my
- 11:00friends and be as fit as I could
- 11:02possibly be.
- 11:04And to do something like I'm going to
- 11:06try to be some kind of big games
- 11:09athlete and be programmed like I'm
- 11:12training for that did not fit what I
- 11:15wanted in gym programming.
- 11:18I wanted to go have fun while I
- 11:20was getting fit because I'm not trying to
- 11:23win.
- 11:24I might enter a local comp,
- 11:25but I ain't trying to win the games.
- 11:28I don't need...
- 11:29to evaluate last year's game season and
- 11:32say, well,
- 11:33we got to focus on dumbbell hang snatches
- 11:37and then do them six times a month.
- 11:40Like that.
- 11:41I don't need that shit.
- 11:46Yeah, no, I agree.
- 11:47Uh, Shanna says, I said,
- 11:48you're still involved with country.
- 11:49I believe he is.
- 11:50I think I saw a reel where him
- 11:52and Ben were working out together.
- 11:53He still does.
- 11:54He is the last I checked.
- 11:57So they had some really good coaches.
- 12:00And then they all left one at a
- 12:02time and went to HWPO, went to Proven,
- 12:07went to, like,
- 12:08they had really good coaches that were in
- 12:10charge of the competitor program,
- 12:13whatever you want to call it,
- 12:14stuff that I was following.
- 12:15And one by one, they all left.
- 12:17Like, they would come in.
- 12:18They'd be there for a little while.
- 12:19Hey, we got a new coach.
- 12:20This is this guy, blah, blah, blah,
- 12:21whatever, and they would move on.
- 12:22And now, as far as I know,
- 12:23because I haven't, like I said,
- 12:24I haven't done it in three years,
- 12:27Cole was in charge of it.
- 12:29And I have no idea what the quality
- 12:31is like.
- 12:33But I know it was.
- 12:35And I can tell you that class programming
- 12:36is still,
- 12:38there's some wacky shit going on.
- 12:40What I do appreciate about the evolution
- 12:42of programming for affiliates is there's a
- 12:45compete track usually,
- 12:47and then there's the everyday just want to
- 12:49be fit track.
- 12:52And those two should not mesh together.
- 12:57Because you want to retain your everyday
- 12:59average Joe athlete and make them want to
- 13:02come back to the gym every day to
- 13:05do the next workout.
- 13:06Where the compete track,
- 13:07that's a different animal.
- 13:09Those are people that are driven and want
- 13:11more.
- 13:14The compete stuff is not fantastic for
- 13:20general pop.
- 13:22depending on what it is.
- 13:23I mean, everything is scalable.
- 13:26Well,
- 13:26you can take a piece of it and
- 13:28put in gen pop.
- 13:29Yeah.
- 13:30If I showed you what a full day,
- 13:33just a regular full day of my training
- 13:35looks like,
- 13:36and I don't do all of it,
- 13:38most people's heads would spin because,
- 13:40like,
- 13:41We have a lot.
- 13:42But Brandon says specifically, hey,
- 13:44I'm not expecting everybody to do all of
- 13:45this every single day.
- 13:47I know how much it is.
- 13:48You have options to where if you need
- 13:50to work on this, here's this.
- 13:52If you need to work on that,
- 13:53here's that.
- 13:54You want to lift?
- 13:54Cool.
- 13:55Here's this.
- 13:56You want accessories?
- 13:57Boom.
- 13:58We got a whole bunch of that.
- 13:59Here's the Metcon.
- 14:00Here's the various levels.
- 14:02You can't take that.
- 14:03It doesn't translate over to a class as
- 14:06well because it's just too much.
- 14:07It's just too much.
- 14:12Wayne says,
- 14:13Ben was fortunate to witness Matt becoming
- 14:14the fittest on earth.
- 14:15Matt would have succeeded regardless of
- 14:17what programming he attached his name to.
- 14:21And in fairness,
- 14:23Ben did say that in this interview.
- 14:25Ben essentially said, Matt came in,
- 14:27we gave him a gymnastics move,
- 14:29and he could do it without ever trying
- 14:30it and do it first attempt successfully.
- 14:33Because he freestyle skied,
- 14:35and so he had body awareness.
- 14:37His parents were Olympic athletes.
- 14:39He had the genes and the makeup to
- 14:42pretty much be able to adapt and do
- 14:44anything on the fly.
- 14:45And he was a junior Olympic weightlifter.
- 14:47So, like, he knew how to snatch.
- 14:49He knew how to clean and jerk.
- 14:50He knew how to do all of that
- 14:52stuff.
- 14:52He had a real good base of strength
- 14:54before he went in there, like,
- 14:56he had all the tools in the drawer.
- 14:58He also said he's a four point O
- 15:00engineering student who would memorize
- 15:02full textbooks.
- 15:03Correct.
- 15:05Like anomaly dude.
- 15:06He was so driven even in education to
- 15:10be the best he could be with all
- 15:11of that stuff.
- 15:13Um, and so it,
- 15:16it really was clickbait after I clicked on
- 15:19Ben did not take credit for Matt in
- 15:21the interview.
- 15:22Um,
- 15:23It was just clickbait on the thumbnail.
- 15:26And yeah.
- 15:28And he actually gave a lot of credit
- 15:29to his individual coaches of like
- 15:32nutrition, weightlifting, gymnastics,
- 15:36as much as taking any credit himself.
- 15:38Good for him.
- 15:41Carolyn said,
- 15:42I would say that for a lot of
- 15:44top athletes with any program.
- 15:45Yeah.
- 15:48Nine times out of ten.
- 15:49They come in with tools.
- 15:52Any good coach is going to do that,
- 15:54really with anybody,
- 15:55but especially with top athletes.
- 15:56Okay, what can you do?
- 15:58What are your strengths?
- 15:58What are your weaknesses?
- 15:59Let's look at that.
- 16:00Okay, good.
- 16:01We got that down.
- 16:01Here's a program.
- 16:03We're going to shore up your strengths and
- 16:05we're going to work on,
- 16:05we're going to hammer the shit out of
- 16:06your weaknesses.
- 16:07Let's go.
- 16:09My only argument to Carolyn would be if
- 16:11you're an athlete like Carolyn or like
- 16:14Matt Fraser or like Danny Spiegel,
- 16:16you are better equipped to adapt to
- 16:19whatever comes your way when you first
- 16:23start a program.
- 16:26And so I think – I just think
- 16:30that that –
- 16:31that makes a big difference.
- 16:32How,
- 16:33what athleticism you come to the table
- 16:35with full credit to Matt's athleticism
- 16:39walking in the door.
- 16:41If I get Carolyn Prevost walking to my
- 16:43gym, right.
- 16:45And there's nothing you can throw at her
- 16:47that she can't do.
- 16:48And I'm like,
- 16:49I'm salivating at the mouth at that point.
- 16:51Like, Oh, well, okay.
- 16:54Okay.
- 16:55Well, I mean, she's playing double on it.
- 16:56She's just not real good at it.
- 17:00oh but seriously like you look at it
- 17:03she walks in you're like oh okay here
- 17:06we go and you start you got to
- 17:07start like poking and prodding at it to
- 17:09see what she actually can't do or what
- 17:11her weaknesses are because anything you
- 17:13throw at her she's like oh yeah no
- 17:14i can do that oh yeah no i
- 17:16can do that uh savan says only coach
- 17:19have to make a female male and female
- 17:22and female champ in the same year
- 17:25It's all like perspective, right?
- 17:27Because you could say Shane Orr had Matt
- 17:29and Tia in twenty twenty.
- 17:31Yeah.
- 17:35So I would say first coach to have
- 17:38male and female the same year,
- 17:39because I would say, I mean,
- 17:41when Matt and Tia were training together.
- 17:45I mean, with Shane, their coach,
- 17:46I kind of feel like he kind of
- 17:47I mean, he probably served as their coach.
- 17:50He did,
- 17:51I think as much as Ben did.
- 17:53Yeah, a hundred percent, dude.
- 17:55I mean, Matt shows up, right?
- 18:00And Shane's like, oh, already then.
- 18:05Yeah.
- 18:06Like,
- 18:06I don't know if Shane was tweaking Matt's
- 18:08game that much at that point in his
- 18:10career,
- 18:12but he was technically his coach at the
- 18:13games.
- 18:13Correct.
- 18:14Correct.
- 18:16Correct.
- 18:21Yeah, don't program double unders.
- 18:27Eddie, I asked you a question, Corey.
- 18:30Do you want that or an athlete who
- 18:32is willing to put in the daily work
- 18:34to be better on everything?
- 18:36Ideally both.
- 18:39In an ideal world, you want both.
- 18:40Somebody who's good but thinks that
- 18:42they're not.
- 18:43Right.
- 18:44Somebody who looks at stuff and goes,
- 18:46I can only do sets of a hundred
- 18:48dumbbell and there's unbroken.
- 18:49And you're like,
- 18:50you have to sit there and kind of
- 18:51process that for a second and go, okay,
- 18:55do you say only?
- 18:56Cause that doesn't make any sense.
- 18:57Like I'm not clocking that.
- 18:59So yeah, ideally both.
- 19:01You want somebody who is willing to work
- 19:03and do put in, you know,
- 19:06all the blood, sweat, tears,
- 19:07all that kind of stuff,
- 19:08but it helps if they know what they're
- 19:10doing.
- 19:12whenever they get there or adaptable,
- 19:14right?
- 19:16So there's that.
- 19:18Like I said,
- 19:18we talked about the story on the street.
- 19:22And from the Savon Rumor Mill,
- 19:24story on the street.
- 19:27Man of the people.
- 19:28The story on the street,
- 19:29Shane did all of Matt's programming.
- 19:32I don't disagree that he did the
- 19:33programming.
- 19:34Yeah.
- 19:35I just don't think there's anything Shane
- 19:36had to tell Matt.
- 19:39Like, hey, I hope you beat Tia today.
- 19:41Or you played tighter in your trip.
- 19:46Or I don't think there was a lot
- 19:48of technique coaching going on.
- 19:50No, no, no.
- 19:51There wasn't any.
- 19:53Your ring muscle-ups could use a little
- 19:54work.
- 19:55Let me modify you to that.
- 19:57And maybe he did.
- 19:58But I just don't see a whole lot
- 20:00of that happening,
- 20:00especially not by the time he got to
- 20:02where him and Tia were hanging out.
- 20:06And then HWPO programming originally was
- 20:09Shane's programming and now Bad Blood.
- 20:13If you look at Matt's book in the
- 20:15workouts that he was doing,
- 20:18it became what HWPO was.
- 20:21So if those are the workouts he was
- 20:22doing while he was with Shane in the
- 20:24book, and then it moves over to,
- 20:26then that tracks.
- 20:27Yeah, makes sense.
- 20:28Absolutely makes sense.
- 20:33And what's funny is in the podcast,
- 20:36Ben actually talks about the rowing
- 20:39intervals and all that stuff that Matt did
- 20:42on his own.
- 20:44He won everything he was weaker than other
- 20:47athletes on.
- 20:48He just pounded until he got good enough.
- 20:53Yeah.
- 20:54When at that point you don't have to
- 20:56beat,
- 20:56you don't have to beat everybody in a
- 20:58rowing workout.
- 20:58You just have to be able to not
- 21:00get your ass handed to you by everybody
- 21:02in a rowing workout.
- 21:03Believe me, I know all about that.
- 21:10He started winning some of those things.
- 21:12Yeah.
- 21:13Like those sprints and the rowing stuff.
- 21:16He like,
- 21:17he wasn't the best rower in the game,
- 21:19but he was pretty damn good.
- 21:21No,
- 21:21and when he went and learned how to
- 21:23run, I mean, that's a watershed moment,
- 21:25right?
- 21:26That's an all-time game's highlight of him
- 21:30running down the field and beating
- 21:32everybody in that sprint where the year
- 21:34before that he got it.
- 21:35I mean,
- 21:36that video of him from the year before
- 21:38where he's looking around and he's
- 21:40narrating and he goes, and I'm just like,
- 21:42how is everybody so fast?
- 21:45Well, it's not that everybody was so fast.
- 21:46It's just that he was that slow.
- 21:49Because once he caught up,
- 21:50nobody else in the year following that,
- 21:52the other people did not get that much
- 21:54faster or didn't.
- 21:55You know what I'm saying?
- 21:56Like they stayed where they were.
- 21:57He just caught up is all there was
- 21:58to it.
- 22:00Yeah.
- 22:03Do coaches get credit for creating an
- 22:05environment in which athletes can
- 22:06flourish?
- 22:08I think that is a definite yes.
- 22:09I think if you look at what Colton's
- 22:12been saying about his relationship with
- 22:14Joey –
- 22:15that he feels better at a competition when
- 22:19Joey is there as his support.
- 22:21Yeah.
- 22:22I think there is a comfort that is
- 22:23created,
- 22:25and it doesn't always have to be through
- 22:29programming or through the environment.
- 22:31Just being there and knowing what the
- 22:34needs are of your athlete.
- 22:35Yeah.
- 22:37That coach-athlete relationship,
- 22:40relationship is super duper important.
- 22:43Like if you are not comfortable, if you,
- 22:45you,
- 22:45you have to be matched up with the
- 22:46right person, right?
- 22:48It doesn't matter.
- 22:48It does.
- 22:49I'll say it doesn't matter.
- 22:50It matters less what they know and matters
- 22:55more what they can provide to you.
- 22:56Does that make sense?
- 22:58Like programming is programming.
- 23:00When it comes down to it,
- 23:00everybody's got a row.
- 23:01Everybody's got to lift weights.
- 23:02Everybody's got to do all the gymnastics
- 23:04and all that kind of stuff right there.
- 23:05But your coach instilling,
- 23:07being able to instill in you, um,
- 23:10the level of confidence that you're going
- 23:11to need to be able to get out
- 23:12on the floor and do the things that
- 23:14you are capable of doing like that's
- 23:16paramount right building up that belief
- 23:19building a bad environment like you said
- 23:21about what uh what colton said he feels
- 23:26better he you know that dude is is
- 23:29giving him the things that he needs
- 23:30mentally to be able to push past what
- 23:32his boundary what his perceived boundaries
- 23:34are i think that's amazing
- 23:36When I think even Matt said that Shane
- 23:39doing the programming took something off
- 23:41of him that allowed him to focus on
- 23:43other things.
- 23:44Yeah.
- 23:45Well, it's just like, I mean,
- 23:48as he progressed, right?
- 23:49So second, second meets Sammy, right?
- 23:54Sammy starts taking off of all his daily
- 23:56stuff.
- 23:57He doesn't have to cook anymore.
- 23:58Not that he cooked before,
- 23:59but she starts taking all of that kind
- 24:02of stuff off.
- 24:03Well,
- 24:03now he's got that much more time and
- 24:05mental capacity to focus on that.
- 24:09And then same thing,
- 24:09like he gets to Shane and him and
- 24:11like,
- 24:11now I don't have to worry about
- 24:12programming because clearly he knows what
- 24:14he's doing because Tia's, you know,
- 24:17smashing everybody at that point.
- 24:19One less thing that he has to actually
- 24:20do.
- 24:21I mean, that's ridiculous, dude.
- 24:24Like as far as that kind of stuff
- 24:25is concerned.
- 24:27Denise Moore,
- 24:28when my coach is at a competition,
- 24:29I tend to do better.
- 24:30I always feel the need to please my
- 24:32coach.
- 24:33I had that need ever since high school
- 24:35sports.
- 24:38Carolyn Prevost says he didn't get that
- 24:40much faster sprinting.
- 24:41He just recovered more than the other
- 24:43people.
- 24:47So the perception is that all of a
- 24:48sudden he could sprint.
- 24:51Well,
- 24:52and if you go look back at fourteen
- 24:53and fifteen, he died on Saturday.
- 24:58Bad.
- 24:58Like he was he was the Matt we
- 25:01became to know on the first couple of
- 25:04days of the games and Saturday he would
- 25:07hit a wall.
- 25:08Yeah, I mean, he fell smooth off.
- 25:10I mean,
- 25:10how many failed kettlebell deadlifts did
- 25:13he have in that final workout against Ben
- 25:16in XV that allowed Ben to win the
- 25:19games in XV?
- 25:22It was painful to watch.
- 25:26And then after that,
- 25:28you never saw Matt have those failures
- 25:30again.
- 25:32No, I like it,
- 25:32as a matter of fact, whenever they did,
- 25:35was it Fibonacci,
- 25:36like two years in a row in the
- 25:38first year?
- 25:40He just kind of coasted through it because
- 25:42he was taking it in.
- 25:44In the second year, he was like,
- 25:45all right,
- 25:45let me see what I can actually do,
- 25:46and then went through.
- 25:49That kind of stuff was wild to watch
- 25:50because he was still that fresh at that
- 25:52point in the game where he was like
- 25:54he could afford to go out and take
- 25:55risk at that point and just see what
- 25:56was going to happen.
- 25:59Yeah.
- 26:02So many people hate on Ben and discredit
- 26:04his success.
- 26:05And yet he had Cole, Matt, Katrin,
- 26:07et cetera.
- 26:09I don't think it was luck.
- 26:11I think that he was really good as
- 26:13a one type of coach.
- 26:15And I use the analogy into a football
- 26:18metaphor earlier.
- 26:20You may be a great coach with the
- 26:22right players on your team.
- 26:24And then when you go to a different
- 26:25team with a different group of players,
- 26:27your system doesn't work anymore.
- 26:30And ever since Ben went away from those
- 26:32three and tried to bring other people into
- 26:36that format, it's failed.
- 26:39And what I,
- 26:40what I criticize Ben for is lack of
- 26:44adaptation to other athletes.
- 26:53Yeah, I think it's pretty apparent.
- 26:58So
- 27:00And maybe the reason he took a step
- 27:01back involved that he,
- 27:04that the game was starting to pass him
- 27:06by.
- 27:08I would want to represent agree with that.
- 27:10And I think he was wise enough,
- 27:13perceptive enough to kind of see it and
- 27:15pass it on down to somebody else.
- 27:17You know,
- 27:17he thought he was going to be able
- 27:18to be,
- 27:20to keep it moving and just take a
- 27:23step back and I'm going to go ahead
- 27:24and just put my focus somewhere else.
- 27:26Yeah.
- 27:33But I do think,
- 27:34and this is probably the case with a
- 27:36lot of coaches,
- 27:38the athlete has to be the right fit
- 27:39with the coach.
- 27:41The coach has to be the right fit
- 27:43for the athlete.
- 27:45It's symbiotic in some ways.
- 27:48It has to be.
- 27:50And when they tried to do the big
- 27:51academy and they tried to do this mass
- 27:55camp thing,
- 27:57I think a lot of camps like Proven,
- 28:02like HWPO,
- 28:05learned that to do this in mass is
- 28:08not doable at one location.
- 28:15Proven adjusted, HWPO adjusted.
- 28:20Ben just shut it down at that point.
- 28:28So anyway, it was just,
- 28:32I saw that on YouTube and out and
- 28:34just for people jumping in late,
- 28:35this is what,
- 28:37what sparked the whole debate.
- 28:41And that, what that is this,
- 28:46how I built the fittest man in the
- 28:47world.
- 28:48But again,
- 28:48Ben did not create the thumbnail.
- 28:51A whole different podcast.
- 28:54A whole different podcast.
- 28:57Full transparency.
- 28:58This was another person's podcast.
- 29:00They created this.
- 29:02I just saw it and I was like,
- 29:04whoa.
- 29:05I think that's why my hair stood up
- 29:06so much yesterday whenever you said it
- 29:08because I was like,
- 29:10did he really come out with that?
- 29:12Did Ben say that himself?
- 29:13That's wildly...
- 29:17but it was somebody else and it's one
- 29:19hundred percent clickbait.
- 29:20So good on her for baiting people in.
- 29:25Make me watch it because I wanted to
- 29:27hear how he built them in the interview.
- 29:30He does not take,
- 29:32he really doesn't take much credit for
- 29:34Matt at all in the interview.
- 29:38So anyway, moving on.
- 29:42So quarterfinals ended last night.
- 29:44Yes, sir.
- 29:46Yesterday afternoon, I guess noon.
- 29:48Two p.m.
- 29:48my time.
- 29:48Three p.m.
- 29:50your time.
- 29:54And, whoops.
- 29:55Noon and the only time zone that Savant
- 29:58cares about.
- 30:02We have the unofficial leaderboard.
- 30:05What you'll notice this year is if the
- 30:08scores have been validated,
- 30:09it is regular font.
- 30:11If the score was not validated,
- 30:14it is italicized.
- 30:17So, on the men's side,
- 30:22I got to just say I was shocked.
- 30:24Flabbergasted would be a good word.
- 30:28I was flabbergasted over a lot of things.
- 30:31I thought Colton won for sure.
- 30:34Yeah.
- 30:36I thought he won going away.
- 30:37I thought nobody would touch Tudor in that
- 30:44–
- 30:45Double under workout.
- 30:46He came in seventh.
- 30:49Insane.
- 30:52And so Jay Crouch wins quarterfinals
- 30:54unofficially.
- 30:55Austin Hadfield second.
- 30:56Jeffrey Adler third.
- 30:58Saxon and Spencer Pancheck come
- 31:00back-to-back fourth and fifth.
- 31:02Yonikoski sixth.
- 31:03Colton Merton seventh.
- 31:05Noah Olsen eighth.
- 31:06Nate Ackerman ninth.
- 31:08And Ricky Garrard tenth.
- 31:09Oh, Ricky Mack.
- 31:13I'm talking about the Panchak twins coming
- 31:15in right next to each other.
- 31:17What's more flabbergasting?
- 31:20Big brother in twenty second.
- 31:23That's not flabbergasting.
- 31:24That dude has been fit his entire life,
- 31:29his entire career.
- 31:30That does not surprise me in the least.
- 31:34He's right there with Jason Hopper and
- 31:36Dallin Pepper.
- 31:36Mm hmm.
- 31:41But yeah, really surprised about all that.
- 31:44Any big surprises for you?
- 31:46I mean,
- 31:46aside from Colton not being in first,
- 31:50the rest of it makes sense to me,
- 31:52one hundred percent.
- 31:52But like, I really didn't think,
- 31:55first of all.
- 31:57The fact that somebody went faster than
- 31:59Tudor's time on that deadlift double under
- 32:02workout is wild, like completely,
- 32:06completely wild.
- 32:07This one also hit me from the blind
- 32:10side.
- 32:12I know Kyra's fit.
- 32:13I understand that,
- 32:15but I didn't think she was that fit.
- 32:17If you would have given me twenty guesses
- 32:19on who would win the quarterfinals,
- 32:21Kyra would not have shown up in my
- 32:23list.
- 32:23No.
- 32:24So, good on her,
- 32:25because that blew my mind completely as
- 32:27well.
- 32:28Like, Ariel, okay.
- 32:29Danielle, sure.
- 32:30Lucy Campbell, Lucy McGonigal, yep.
- 32:32Why not?
- 32:34Miriam.
- 32:35Miriam, yep.
- 32:36And for Kyra to knock all of those
- 32:38girls down, that's outstanding.
- 32:41Good on her, dude.
- 32:42Like, for real.
- 32:44And seeing the workouts,
- 32:45I can see Andrea Solberg.
- 32:47I can see Elena Caratala.
- 32:50Those fit them.
- 32:52I could see all of that.
- 32:54But man,
- 32:55the Kyra thing just smacked me right
- 32:57between the eyes.
- 32:59And look, good owner.
- 33:02Good owner.
- 33:03That's amazing.
- 33:03I'm happy for her.
- 33:09But holy smokes, that was shocking.
- 33:12Look at Olivia in twelfth.
- 33:15Yep.
- 33:18There's kind of the list.
- 33:21No,
- 33:22no real surprises in the top twenty five.
- 33:24No.
- 33:27So I saw I saw a couple.
- 33:30I saw a couple.
- 33:32Italicized ones last night and they've all
- 33:36been removed.
- 33:38From the top twenty five of women's.
- 33:42So.
- 33:44Yeah, when ours came out yesterday,
- 33:45I was looking through the leaderboard,
- 33:46just kind of digging around for some of
- 33:48that stuff that was going to end up
- 33:50getting removed.
- 33:53I think, I say I think,
- 33:55I have absolutely nothing to base this on,
- 33:56but there was some dude that had,
- 34:00in my age group, it's gone now,
- 34:01had a .. .
- 34:02.
- 34:02a .. .
- 34:02.

- 34:08. .
- 34:08squat clean workout and i was like no
- 34:10you didn't no you didn't you just didn't
- 34:14maybe that was your tie break time and
- 34:16you entered it wrong but you did not
- 34:20do the forty bar muscle ups and eighty
- 34:22hang squat cleans in six minutes and seven
- 34:25seconds and that didn't that actually came
- 34:27off pretty quick so i was i was
- 34:28kind of excited about that but
- 34:33Ed,
- 34:34I hope Kyra and Kiefer keep this up
- 34:35for the games and didn't peak too soon.
- 34:39Rooting for her to make it back to
- 34:40the games this year.
- 34:45If I'm going to be completely transparent
- 34:47and honest about Kyra,
- 34:50I met her back in the underdog days.
- 34:55I didn't think she was serious enough
- 34:57about death to be this good.
- 35:02And I felt like she didn't have the
- 35:04belief in herself.
- 35:07She was very self-deprecating in her
- 35:09humor.
- 35:12She was always fun.
- 35:13She was a great interview.
- 35:15Love talking to her.
- 35:16All of those things.
- 35:18Just didn't sure she did.
- 35:21Wasn't sure she had all that.
- 35:23So if she has gotten all of that.
- 35:25Yeah, I do.
- 35:28Getting your headspace straightened out is
- 35:30a game changer.
- 35:31Yeah.
- 35:31In a quarterfinals that was not heavy?
- 35:34Correct.
- 35:38Yeah.
- 35:38I'm telling you, dude,
- 35:39getting your headspace right,
- 35:42I guess you could say,
- 35:43is a game changer.
- 35:45If that's what it took,
- 35:46and this is a sign of things to
- 35:50come, yeah,
- 35:51she's going to be fun to watch the
- 35:53rest of the season.
- 35:55Yeah.
- 35:57Like I said,
- 35:58it smacked me between the eyes.
- 35:59If she was this good on these workouts,
- 36:02what is to come for her?
- 36:05Wish her nothing but the best.
- 36:06I've met Kiefer at the last Southland camp
- 36:09that we had, and that dude's awesome.
- 36:14she's hanging out with him and she is.
- 36:17Yeah.
- 36:19Yeah.
- 36:19I, uh, my,
- 36:21my biggest memory with her is one of
- 36:23the years she didn't make the games.
- 36:24We were in Madison.
- 36:25I was sitting on some steps and I
- 36:26was doing Instagram updates and she sat
- 36:31down beside me and we did an update
- 36:32on the games sitting on these steps and
- 36:34she was all in on it again,
- 36:37always fun,
- 36:38always willing to jump in and do whatever.
- 36:41Um,
- 36:43just wasn't sure she had that that dog
- 36:47right yeah it seems there seems she may
- 36:52have adopted one yeah so super impressed
- 36:57with her her quarterfinals performance um
- 37:02so yeah uh
- 37:09Anything else on the doc today?
- 37:10I don't have a lot of notes.
- 37:12I don't have any notes, actually.
- 37:13I didn't take a note today.
- 37:17I don't have any notes either,
- 37:19oddly enough.
- 37:21No, dude.
- 37:22Have you ever taken a note for this
- 37:23show?
- 37:24Yes.
- 37:25Oh, wow.
- 37:27I have.
- 37:28I have.
- 37:29I don't remember what it was for,
- 37:30but I remember writing some stuff down,
- 37:32so I didn't forget about it.
- 37:36Oh, Denise.
- 37:36Denise.
- 37:39uh denise said i got the flu real
- 37:40bad right lit right after twenty six point
- 37:42three high fever for days a burpee over
- 37:45the bar workout killed me i couldn't
- 37:47breathe that would happen to me without
- 37:52the flu
- 37:55Shout out to everybody who made semis.
- 37:58Mr.
- 37:59Joseph Ramirez finished inside that top
- 38:01four hundred in our age group.
- 38:02He is going to be moving on to
- 38:05online semifinals.
- 38:06He just put it in earlier that he
- 38:08got his scores validated.
- 38:11Shout out to Mr. David Johnson.
- 38:13He and I have been chatting a whole
- 38:14lot past couple of days just by the
- 38:17leaderboard and what it looks like and
- 38:21hoping to get an invite at some point
- 38:24to be able to go compete in person.
- 38:26I think I did.
- 38:27I think I did enough,
- 38:28which is what I was trying to do
- 38:29this season.
- 38:30That was my biggest goal for the year
- 38:33that I wrote down was to be able
- 38:34to finish high enough and put me in
- 38:37a spot to be able to go compete
- 38:38in person.
- 38:39So,
- 38:40If we are giving shout outs,
- 38:44let me first shout out Thirdsy.
- 38:48It is the game changer that will help
- 38:50you recover on the weekends.
- 38:52It will help you get ready for this
- 38:54Easter holiday weekend this weekend.
- 38:56It'll get you ready for semifinals,
- 38:59all of that stuff.
- 39:01And you can get fifteen percent off by
- 39:02using code Jazzy at checkout or going to
- 39:05Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 39:07But other shout outs,
- 39:08our very own Carolyn Prevost,
- 39:11finishing forty fifth in the world in the
- 39:13elite division.
- 39:15In addition to that,
- 39:16she took first in the age group,
- 39:18thirty five to thirty nine.
- 39:20She's an animal.
- 39:21Jamie,
- 39:22who is taking the year off because of
- 39:25hip surgery.
- 39:27Twenty second in her age group.
- 39:31She's taking a year off and she finished
- 39:33thirty something spots ahead of me.
- 39:39And Corey Leonard, you,
- 39:43the man finishing fifty seventh in your
- 39:45age group and moving on to semis.
- 39:47And hopefully you get that in-person
- 39:49invite to either Magic City or Legends so
- 39:52we can see you out there on the
- 39:53floor.
- 39:55Micah,
- 39:55if you watch and I would really like
- 39:56Birmingham six hours from here.
- 39:58I do not want to have to fly
- 39:59halfway across the country.
- 40:00Actually,
- 40:00I'm not flying halfway across the country.
- 40:02I'm just not.
- 40:03It's too much.
- 40:07That's an excellent question.
- 40:09So Denise is asking,
- 40:09is Jamie going to do semis?
- 40:12So I will say it depends.
- 40:15And she has told me what the parameters
- 40:17are and her limitations with her body.
- 40:19But I will leave that for her to
- 40:21say publicly.
- 40:27I'm going to text her after we get
- 40:30off this.
- 40:31It all appears on what the workouts are.
- 40:34I don't think she's going to try to
- 40:35go do an in-person.
- 40:37I think if she does it,
- 40:38it will be the online just because of
- 40:41her recovery from the hip surgery.
- 40:43Right.
- 40:45So David's comment right there.
- 40:53So that's what mostly what he and I
- 40:55have been chatting about.
- 40:56So if you take a list of people
- 40:59from Kane Hayes down to me, right?
- 41:02Kane finished quarterfinals in first in my
- 41:05age group.
- 41:08Mostly take out the international names,
- 41:10okay?
- 41:10Like the guys that are in Europe,
- 41:12the guys in South America.
- 41:14I highly doubt Kane is flying from
- 41:16Australia to come over here just to do
- 41:18an in-person semifinal when there's one in
- 41:19Australia.
- 41:21And now all of a sudden,
- 41:23I have a way better chance of getting
- 41:25an invite to somewhere.
- 41:27So that's what me and David have been
- 41:28doing.
- 41:28Mostly David's been doing it,
- 41:30if I'm being completely honest.
- 41:31He was running the names this morning.
- 41:32We were chatting about it.
- 41:36Ed asks,
- 41:36can we expect Clydesdale Media to maybe
- 41:38stream, announce a semifinal comp,
- 41:40maybe a smaller comp?
- 41:42It's something I've always wanted to do.
- 41:45Ed, when I was a kid,
- 41:46I wanted to be a sports broadcaster.
- 41:48That's why I started this podcast because
- 41:50I gave up on that dream when I
- 41:51was like, I was like, I was like,
- 41:52I was like, I was like,
- 41:53I was like, I was like,
- 41:53I was like, I was like,
- 41:54I was like, I was like,
- 41:54I was like, I was like,
- 41:55I was like, I was like,
- 41:55I was like, I was like,
- 41:55I was like, I was like,
- 41:56I was like, I was like,
- 41:56I was like, I was like,
- 41:57I was like, I was like,
- 41:57I was like, I was like,
- 41:58I was like, I was like,
- 41:58I was like, I was like,
- 41:59I was like, I was like,
- 41:59I was like, I was like,
- 42:00I was like, I was like,
- 42:01I was like, I was like,
- 42:02few years back i don't want to get
- 42:03into the details of why that fell through
- 42:05right but it's led to some animosity with
- 42:10some people um but other than that i
- 42:14would love to do it at some point
- 42:16But right now,
- 42:17I've got to get through what I'm going
- 42:19through medically,
- 42:21and hopefully after this season,
- 42:23we can refocus, re-energize,
- 42:26and get back into doing maybe a smaller
- 42:28comp or something like that and get our
- 42:31feet wet and see what we can do.
- 42:35A lot of work,
- 42:36but I imagine it's fun as shit.
- 42:42Jamie, Natty are not incoming.
- 42:46ever seen that girl eat you understand
- 42:48that she is one hundred percent natural
- 42:50it's it's amazing to watch yeah it's so
- 42:56every time we go out to eat every
- 42:58the waiter always thinks her meal is mine
- 43:01yeah and mine is hers and i'm like
- 43:05no you gotta you gotta switch those and
- 43:07they look at me with wide eyes like
- 43:10really
- 43:11Really?
- 43:12I had wide eyes watching her going, oh,
- 43:15and she just kind of giggled and she
- 43:17went, yeah, I can eat whatever I want.
- 43:18And I was like, I see that.
- 43:24Oh, uh, Shannon's doing her semis online.
- 43:29That's the other thing we were talking
- 43:30about as far as that kind of stuff
- 43:32is,
- 43:32is me and David was like the people
- 43:34who are just not going to go in
- 43:36person.
- 43:37Like we was going to, you know,
- 43:38feel more comfortable doing semifinals at
- 43:41their own gym.
- 43:42I guess go ahead and just go the
- 43:43online route.
- 43:44Cause honestly,
- 43:46if you're looking at just the numbers
- 43:47game,
- 43:47you get a way better chance of making
- 43:49it from the online.
- 43:51Cause they're just taking more people than
- 43:52if you showed up for in person,
- 43:53but I want the in-person experience.
- 43:56I need more experience.
- 43:57Yeah.
- 43:58Being in there, being in the trenches,
- 43:59going against those guys that are
- 44:02games-level athletes.
- 44:06Is Jamie enjoying the Big Blue success?
- 44:09I think I can safely speak for her
- 44:11on that, and that is an absolute no.
- 44:15If it ain't green and white in Michigan,
- 44:17she ain't for it.
- 44:21If you go to her house,
- 44:23the whole living room is decorated in
- 44:25Michigan State.
- 44:28It's crazy.
- 44:32Lito is doing online semis,
- 44:34then the French throwdown on back-to-back
- 44:36weekends, so May should be fun.
- 44:39If anybody's fit enough to handle that,
- 44:42it's Lito Calagiani.
- 44:46I will say this, Lito, to that point,
- 44:48is that I'll probably be doing him
- 44:52If I get an invite to Magic City,
- 44:56I'll be doing Magic City and then doing
- 44:58online the week after.
- 44:59So I know where you're at.
- 45:04Meg,
- 45:04that sounds like terrible decorations.
- 45:06Well, not how I would decorate my house.
- 45:09And again, Meg,
- 45:10I have no say in how my house
- 45:12is decorated.
- 45:16So speaking of which,
- 45:17so I got these floating shelves that my
- 45:19wife wanted.
- 45:21And I said,
- 45:21all I need for you to do is
- 45:23put a line,
- 45:24a pen line on the wall where you
- 45:27want the center of the shelf to be
- 45:29both height and width.
- 45:32And I will put them up.
- 45:34It has been four days.
- 45:36I still don't have a line.
- 45:37And yet when we're in public with other
- 45:40people, well,
- 45:41I gave them a chore list and the
- 45:43chore list is just sitting there.
- 45:46Cause the minute I know I put up
- 45:47those shelves and I don't use her line,
- 45:49it's going to be, it's up too high.
- 45:51It's down too low.
- 45:52You put it off to the right too
- 45:53much.
- 45:54I ain't doing that.
- 46:06Yes.
- 46:06Good luck leader.
- 46:07You're going to kill it.
- 46:08She's going to smash it, dude.
- 46:09She's going back to the games.
- 46:10Her and I had a discussion yesterday.
- 46:13Denise,
- 46:13thank goodness Delmar is two weeks before
- 46:15the online semis.
- 46:17She's the only one signed up.
- 46:20Age group.
- 46:21I think she's going to be okay.
- 46:26Meg says, just put them up.
- 46:28I have done that.
- 46:29And then I've been ridiculed for years
- 46:31about the placement.
- 46:32I am not.
- 46:34I'm not falling in for that trap.
- 46:39Yeah, exactly.
- 46:40I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight.
- 46:45um i don't know if most wives notice
- 46:48oh she must be thinking about the location
- 46:50still i don't know if most wives notice
- 46:52but if you get banished to the couch
- 46:54it's like going on a camping trip like
- 46:56it's not really that big a deal like
- 46:59i'm gonna bring a blanket and a pillow
- 47:01i'm gonna watch tv until i fall asleep
- 47:05like it's someone snoring beside me yeah
- 47:08and worry about knees in my back at
- 47:10any point during the night no i'm good
- 47:12dude
- 47:14Daniel, this has gone through my head.
- 47:18It's almost like she wants me to fail.
- 47:21So she can hold it over my head
- 47:23for the next ten years.
- 47:28That's funny.
- 47:29I'm sorry.
- 47:31Wayne's got the strategy.
- 47:32Rev up the drill a few times and
- 47:34then she'll come running to make sure
- 47:35they're in the right place.
- 47:37Not even for that.
- 47:38What are you doing?
- 47:38What are you doing?
- 47:40Why is the drill on?
- 47:41What are you doing?
- 47:42Well,
- 47:43I'm trying to get your attention and tell
- 47:44me where you put these shelves up,
- 47:45because if not,
- 47:46I'm just going to put them up wherever
- 47:48and however I want.
- 47:49So when they come up looking like this,
- 47:51I feel like I want to go Art
- 47:52Deco and make them all slanty.
- 47:54Then you ain't got nothing to say about
- 47:56it.
- 47:59They would never be slanty.
- 48:01I am like, you know,
- 48:03about like getting the level out,
- 48:06making sure the shelf is just slanted.
- 48:09My wife is one of those people should
- 48:11start a project in the middle of it,
- 48:13go F it and then walk away.
- 48:16Oh yeah, no,
- 48:16we don't do that at the house.
- 48:19And then I'm like, well now I,
- 48:22and I really believe it's her tactic to
- 48:23get me to finish the job.
- 48:25Mm-hmm.
- 48:28Or she starts and does such a bad
- 48:29job with like the paint strokes and the
- 48:32drips and the, or something like that.
- 48:34And I'm like, no, no, go sit down.
- 48:38And that's exactly what she wanted in the
- 48:39first place.
- 48:40Yeah.
- 48:41Got it.
- 48:49So,
- 48:49so there is a method to her madness.
- 48:54I never,
- 48:55ever said the female gender is stupid.
- 49:00Oh, no.
- 49:01Not at all.
- 49:02My wife's the smartest person I know.
- 49:04And I know some pretty smart people.
- 49:05Yeah.
- 49:08And she knows what she's doing.
- 49:11Like,
- 49:12we're coming up on our twenty ninth
- 49:13wedding anniversary in May.
- 49:16And we dated for five years before that.
- 49:18Oh.
- 49:20Thirty four.
- 49:21So we've been together thirty four years.
- 49:26I know her tricks.
- 49:28She knows mine.
- 49:34My wife is great at paint construction.
- 49:36However, is like she is sacking wildcats.
- 49:39Exactly.
- 49:41My wife.
- 49:42So we got this new thing for our
- 49:44car because with my sinuses,
- 49:46I blow my nose a lot.
- 49:47So it's like a tissue holder that connects
- 49:50to your center console.
- 49:52But it also has like a pad to
- 49:53put your arm on.
- 49:56It adds two cup holders, right?
- 49:59But the tissues are like half the size
- 50:04of a regular tissue.
- 50:05And she goes,
- 50:06we could just take the Sawzall and cut
- 50:07the tissues in half.
- 50:10And I'm like,
- 50:12that's like taking a cannon...
- 50:19It's like taking a cannon and...
- 50:20And deer hunting.
- 50:21Yeah.
- 50:23And I don't mean like an old musket
- 50:25ball cannon, like a... Yeah,
- 50:27pirate cannon.
- 50:32I'm like, first of all,
- 50:33the tissues are going everywhere.
- 50:35You're not even going to get through the
- 50:36tissues before that thing is whipping them
- 50:38all over the place.
- 50:42Just cut it in half with a sawzall.
- 50:45You know,
- 50:45that sounds like a great idea in theory.
- 50:47Or we could not do that at all.
- 50:50I said, or we could use scissors.
- 50:53Because they're tissues.
- 50:56Yeah.
- 50:58Because it's paper.
- 50:59It's literally made out of paper.
- 51:02Oh, look at David with the subtle flex.
- 51:05My wife beat some games athletes in the
- 51:07deadlift workout,
- 51:07but don't make a big deal out of
- 51:09it.
- 51:11Yeah.
- 51:13I would be tooting her horn.
- 51:16life everybody is all about collecting
- 51:18coins it's like mario yep it's like super
- 51:21mario brother the more coins you can
- 51:22collect and bag up for later use the
- 51:25better your marriage will be absolutely
- 51:32all right i have been i changed out
- 51:36all the toilet seats today in the house
- 51:40surprise i'm surprising her with that
- 51:42she'll probably come home and say i didn't
- 51:43put him in the right location
- 51:46but did you do them in the right
- 51:47order?
- 51:47Yeah.
- 51:52All right, guys.
- 51:54Don't forget to buy your third Z third
- 51:55Z.com backslash Jazzy.
- 51:58Tomorrow we will not be on the air.
- 51:59Tomorrow is my heart surgery.
- 52:03Hopefully everything goes well.
- 52:07Procedure starts at eight thirty a.m.
- 52:08Eastern time.
- 52:10So hopefully I'll be out and in recovery
- 52:13two hours after that.
- 52:15And then they said it's about four hours
- 52:17before they let us go home.
- 52:19So sometime afternoon,
- 52:20I should be getting home.
- 52:22And then we'll see how I feel on
- 52:24Thursday.
- 52:26So with that,
- 52:28we will see you hopefully Thursday,
- 52:30Thursday, Thursday, Thursday.
- 52:34Hopefully we see you for Thursday,
- 52:36Thursday.
- 52:37Good old Thursday, Thursday.
- 52:40And thank you all for the thoughts and
- 52:42prayers.
- 52:43Always appreciate those.
- 52:45And we will see you guys then.
- 52:47Hope you have a great rest of your
- 52:48day and we'll see you soon.
- 52:50Bye.
