- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:12Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:15Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm your former Hallmark hater.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Today we're discussing Round and Round, part of Hallmark's Countdown
- 0:21Speaker 1: to Christmas series. You may notice that we're continuing to
- 0:26Speaker 1: drop episodes even after the conclusion of the series, and
- 0:28Speaker 1: we're glad you're here. We would also love to see
- 0:31Speaker 1: you elsewhere. You can find us outside the podcast. On Instagram.
- 0:34Speaker 1: We have two accounts. One is Girls Gone Hallmark. One
- 0:37Speaker 1: is Megan and Wendy.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Come on over to our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Lots of discussion about movies and actors and things happening
- 0:48Speaker 2: in the Hallmark world. It's a nice group Girls Gone
- 0:52Speaker 2: Hallmark on Facebook.
- 0:54Speaker 1: That is right, Wendy, Why don't you hit us with
- 0:56Speaker 1: a synopsis?
- 0:57Speaker 2: I will Rachel's stuck in a time time loup, reliving
- 1:01Speaker 2: the night of her parents' Hanukkah party. Ken Zach, the
- 1:04Speaker 2: nice boy Grandma's trying to set her up with help
- 1:07Speaker 2: her make it to tomorrow.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Time for news and notes. This movie was written by Tomorrow.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Lady Tamar has just seven previous writing credits. She wrote
- 1:16Speaker 1: Crashing through the Snow for Hallmark back in twenty twenty one,
- 1:18Speaker 1: as well as a handful of episodes for Pretty Little Liars,
- 1:21Speaker 1: Heart of Dixie and General Hospital Night Shift.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Do you remember when General Hospital had that like nice
- 1:29Speaker 2: Shift series? Yeah, I don't want. I remember seeing commercials
- 1:33Speaker 2: for it. I didn't watch it, but I can't remember
- 1:35Speaker 2: how long it was on for Anyway. Stacy in Harding
- 1:40Speaker 2: directed this movie. She has twelve directing credits, including Amash
- 1:46Speaker 2: stud which he talked about. I laugh every time. I
- 1:51Speaker 2: laugh every time I think of this title Amash Stood,
- 1:55Speaker 2: and I just think of Luke McFarlane, who is a
- 1:57Speaker 2: real stud. You know what I mean. Anyway, Amishtad the
- 2:01Speaker 2: Eli Weavers story, which was for Lifetime for Hallmark. Stacy
- 2:08Speaker 2: has directed Hearts in the Game, Love Classified, Christmas Sale,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and one of the Mystery one oh one movies. Additionally,
- 2:16Speaker 2: she's worked on Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist, one of Meghan's favorites.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I do enjoy that show, I know. She was also
- 2:24Speaker 2: first assistant director for the reboot of Charmed and Unreal
- 2:30Speaker 2: Nice Okay, so I have an update that is not
- 2:34Speaker 2: in the news, and notes that you see Meghan. Just
- 2:37Speaker 2: on my personal I DM Stacy because I was like,
- 2:42Speaker 2: I need to know if this movie was actually for
- 2:46Speaker 2: Hallmark or was it presented for a bigger streaming service
- 2:51Speaker 2: like Netflix or Amazon Prime or whatever. And she replied
- 2:55Speaker 2: back so nicely and was very sweet. She said, this
- 2:59Speaker 2: was indeed a Hallmark project, and the EP is somebody
- 3:04Speaker 2: the executive producer, someone who she collaborated with last year
- 3:08Speaker 2: for Love classified a movie we loved, right and next
- 3:14Speaker 2: year's Holidays, which will be a particularly fun launch for
- 3:20Speaker 2: the network. And I was like, I'm so glad you
- 3:23Speaker 2: said something about Holidays, because we thought it was going
- 3:26Speaker 2: to be this year, So it's happy. I'm happy to
- 3:29Speaker 2: hear it's still forthcoming. Yeah, but I think it's been
- 3:33Speaker 2: in post production now for some time.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It was announced last year, so I don't know when
- 3:42Speaker 1: the actual filming took place. But it's I think pretty
- 3:47Speaker 1: unusual for them to announce a product project that far
- 3:49Speaker 1: out without even a release date attached. So I'm glad
- 3:53Speaker 1: to know it's still happening. It hasn't been shelved, it's.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Not dead in the water somewhere right Hallmark Purgatory. Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 2: So I mean it's still coming, and it's so crazy
- 4:04Speaker 2: to see, Like this season in particular, we've seen so
- 4:07Speaker 2: many actors attached to that project. So I'm like, where
- 4:11Speaker 2: is it, When is it coming? What is it about?
- 4:13Speaker 2: I don't even know what it's about. I'll tell you.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's a series. It follows five families in Oak Bay, Oregon,
- 4:19Speaker 1: who live on the same cul de sac as they
- 4:21Speaker 1: deal with the joys and stress of coming home for
- 4:23Speaker 1: the holidays. I mean, so, are we going to get
- 4:27Speaker 1: one episode every weekend of countdown to Christmas? I think
- 4:32Speaker 1: that's brilliant, to be honest, I can't wait to hear
- 4:35Speaker 1: how it's gonna drop. Okay, me too, I'm excited. Maybe
- 4:38Speaker 1: we'll see it on our Hallmark cruise next year we
- 4:42Speaker 1: do get a premiere of some movie to b I know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: and I already picked our seats in the theater.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I'm so excited.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Round and Round was filmed east of Vancouver, British Columbia,
- 4:54Speaker 1: in a town called Maple Ridge, filmed from March through
- 4:57Speaker 1: May twenty twenty three. According to Heavy dot com.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Okay, I also wanted to note. As I was putting
- 5:03Speaker 2: these notes together, I was convinced that this was not
- 5:07Speaker 2: a Hallmark movie. And this was one of my first
- 5:09Speaker 2: clues why even though now we know it was a
- 5:12Speaker 2: Hallmark movie, like it was made for Hallmark, because you
- 5:17Speaker 2: got a project filming from March to May. M that's
- 5:20Speaker 2: a long time.
- 5:23Speaker 1: There's no way they were consistently filming for two months.
- 5:26Speaker 2: They couldn't have been, And maybeheavy dot Com has inaccurate
- 5:30Speaker 2: information here. Michaelis. She plays Rachel. She has twenty four
- 5:36Speaker 2: acting credits, which include a lot of shorts and videos,
- 5:39Speaker 2: but has also been in episodes of Blessed This Mess, Upload,
- 5:43Speaker 2: the reboot of Charmed, and a sketch comedy series called
- 5:47Speaker 2: College Humor Originals.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Brian Greenberg plays Zach. He's probably best known for his
- 5:52Speaker 1: role as Jake on One Tree Hill, but his other
- 5:55Speaker 1: forty seven acting credits include ABC's October Road, How to
- 6:00Speaker 1: Make It in America on HBO, The Mindy Project, Bride Wars,
- 6:04Speaker 1: Friends with Benefits, and Prime. One of one of these
- 6:08Speaker 1: favorite movies. Up Coming for Brian is a thriller he wrote, directed,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and starred in called Junction, which also starts his wife
- 6:16Speaker 1: Jamie Chung and former One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I don't know who Rime is. Oh, it's so good.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It's so good. It's him and Uma Thurman, and it's
- 6:27Speaker 2: a very like Missus Robinson's type relationship because she's older
- 6:31Speaker 2: than him, and Meryl Streep isn't in it. She plays
- 6:35Speaker 2: his mom and she's a therapist. It's great, It's so great. Oh,
- 6:41Speaker 2: I love it. I just love it so much. And
- 6:45Speaker 2: Jamie Chung, do you know who this is? Shout out
- 6:47Speaker 2: to MTV. I was gonna that's what I was gonna say.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It was on the Real World?
- 6:53Speaker 3: Was she?
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yes, she's writing for the Real World San Diego and
- 6:58Speaker 1: an honest episode of the Challenge.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And then did she get hired? Hired for TRL? I
- 7:03Speaker 2: swear she was on TRL as like a correspondent or something.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I don't think so, because I'm already in Oh. She
- 7:11Speaker 1: was in Once Upon a Time. She played Milan.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Rick Hoffman plays Rachel's dad. Stan Hoffman has been in
- 7:17Speaker 2: a lot. He has sixty five acting credits, including billions,
- 7:21Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty for four episodes of Suits, Ballers,
- 7:26Speaker 2: Samantha Who, and so many more. He's like one of
- 7:29Speaker 2: those faces that you just recognize from TV.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I love him and I loved him as Lewis Litt
- 7:38Speaker 1: in suits, and I'd like to point out people are
- 7:41Speaker 1: watching that show now. It's got a new life. I
- 7:43Speaker 1: think it's on Netflix now, and it was used to
- 7:46Speaker 1: be on It.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Was on US USA.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I watched it when I was on
- 7:50Speaker 1: television week to week because Meg and Marco starred in it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: So it has like a renewed audience and everyone's like, oh,
- 7:57Speaker 1: look at this show, and I'm like news, but it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: a great show.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Maybe I should watch it. You might like it. You
- 8:04Speaker 2: might like it.
- 8:05Speaker 1: David Atar plays Terrible boyfriend Adam. Now, David might be
- 8:09Speaker 1: the only actor who has previously been in a Hallmark movie.
- 8:13Speaker 1: We've seen him in Guiding Emily field Day, Unexpected Grace.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Does he played the ex husband in Unexpected Grace.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I can't recall, but possibly, yeah, I liked that relationship.
- 8:25Speaker 1: A fabled Holiday Autumn in the City and Nika and
- 8:27Speaker 1: Nora sister sleuth. Paula Shaw plays Grandma Rosie. She has
- 8:31Speaker 1: eighty nine other acting credits mini Hallmark movies, so David
- 8:35Speaker 1: Atar isn't our only Hallmark vet here.
- 8:37Speaker 2: We've seen her in Hanakhah On Ride, Wedding of a Lifetime,
- 8:40Speaker 2: The wedding veil legacy and it was always you among others.
- 8:45Speaker 2: So this was another thing. I was like, our three
- 8:48Speaker 2: like main stars have never been in a Hallmark movie before.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Mm hmm, so that's why I was like, this is
- 8:54Speaker 2: definitely not a Hallmark movie. But I stand corrected.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It was at the time of this. Round and Round
- 9:01Speaker 1: did rank twenty six in ratings for count end to
- 9:02Speaker 1: Christmas premieres, with one point five four million live viewers.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Got to say, I find that zero percent surprising given
- 9:10Speaker 1: that it's a hunk movie, and I hope it gets
- 9:13Speaker 1: a second life for reasons we will discuss.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Now, go ahead, tell me what you're like. Oh no, no,
- 9:19Speaker 2: it's first impressions.
- 9:20Speaker 1: My first impression is, turns out the best Hallmark Christmas
- 9:24Speaker 1: movie isn't a Christmas movie at all.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm so glad we're on the same page.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Oh mine is any movie that starts with an iconic
- 9:33Speaker 2: eighties song that gets my attention? And with that said,
- 9:37Speaker 2: this maybe might be my favorite movie of this season.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Mmmmmmm, let's tuck what we liked. Okay, you go first, Well,
- 9:46Speaker 1: this was an ambitious story doing a time loop.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I think could go.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Either way and I loved the execution of it. And
- 9:54Speaker 1: one of the things I liked is the pacing was
- 9:56Speaker 1: so nice, and even though she's revisited the same scenes
- 10:01Speaker 1: over and over again, it was done with a fresh
- 10:04Speaker 1: take every time we did get that first round of
- 10:09Speaker 1: her reactions to everything happening, but then as it went forward,
- 10:12Speaker 1: every day was a little bit different from the viewer's perspective.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it kept.
- 10:16Speaker 1: You engaged, and then you got this merry band of
- 10:19Speaker 1: nerds that came in to help her crack the case.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I thought the execution was excellent. I agree.
- 10:28Speaker 2: I liked It's literally almost word for word what you
- 10:33Speaker 2: just said. Oh. I loved this movie first because it
- 10:39Speaker 2: was nothing like I expected it to be. It was
- 10:42Speaker 2: fast paced, it was full of Quippi dialogue. It had
- 10:45Speaker 2: tons of retro pop culture references, lots of jokes, it
- 10:50Speaker 2: was very well written. I just loved it. And even
- 10:55Speaker 2: though the time loop trope is familiar, which I don't
- 10:59Speaker 2: usually love because I'm like, ooh, sci fi, I'm out,
- 11:02Speaker 2: I just love the way it was done here. Like
- 11:06Speaker 2: like you said, we see her go through the full
- 11:08Speaker 2: day and then it kind of skips ahead like it
- 11:10Speaker 2: fast forwards a few days you know, and then still
- 11:14Speaker 2: plays out every day, but just the little twist that's
- 11:18Speaker 2: slightly different. I just loved it, and I had to
- 11:21Speaker 2: tell you skip ahead because I'm gonna give a spoiler
- 11:24Speaker 2: if you don't want to be spoiled, So skip, skip skip.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I love the twists at the end, that the drado
- 11:31Speaker 2: had been used time and a time again to match
- 11:34Speaker 2: up the couples. I love that so much.
- 11:36Speaker 1: And that her dad, who in my notes I called
- 11:39Speaker 1: him Lewis Litt. I wrote, Lewis Litt knew in all
- 11:42Speaker 1: caps because we knew we were getting hints that Grandma
- 11:46Speaker 1: knew it was going on mm hm, but we didn't
- 11:49Speaker 1: know that everybody else knew. And I loved.
- 11:53Speaker 2: That surprise twist. Yeah. I thought it was so good,
- 11:57Speaker 2: so so good. What else did you like? Like you said,
- 12:00Speaker 2: the writing's hilarious. There are so many funny one liner
- 12:03Speaker 2: and quips in this movie. Terms like Hanukah super spreader.
- 12:07Speaker 2: If Zach calls the dirt on the Donuts trail spice,
- 12:11Speaker 2: he says, you need to be more dork positive. They
- 12:14Speaker 2: use the phrase you need to stay in your own
- 12:16Speaker 2: dance space, which is a dirty dancing line, which I
- 12:19Speaker 2: say constantly when they make her do the time warp
- 12:24Speaker 2: with Oh, I'm like, I laughed so hard. It's so funny.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It is so funny this movie. Yeah, it's it's so clever,
- 12:33Speaker 2: it's really clever, and the whole like, I'm Auntie McDowell
- 12:37Speaker 2: or you Bill Murray like it, and it just is
- 12:41Speaker 2: so funny because Annie mcdallas on the Hallmark Channel, you
- 12:44Speaker 2: know what I mean. I just loved it. I love it.
- 12:48Speaker 2: I thought both these were fantastic, Brian and Vic. Earlier
- 12:53Speaker 2: she goes by Victoria, but she has changed her name
- 12:55Speaker 2: to Vic mccallis, not changed it, but shortened it. I
- 12:58Speaker 2: thought they were fantastic together, tons of chemistry. They were
- 13:02Speaker 2: spectacular together, but then also great in their own right.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I thought, In fact, I thought the entire cast as
- 13:10Speaker 2: a whole was excellent. The sister and her partner, the
- 13:14Speaker 2: guys from the comic book store, the grandma, the cousin
- 13:18Speaker 2: with the Madonna accents.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, when she switches back to her prosy accent,
- 13:23Speaker 1: it's one of the best moments in the whole movie
- 13:25Speaker 1: for me.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I agree, I agree, And then even the customer and
- 13:28Speaker 2: the donut shop who's in line with her. Yes, Milly
- 13:33Speaker 2: love it, you know it's the bottom.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I think that's such a nice point because they do
- 13:38Speaker 1: a nice job of tying all of these threads together
- 13:42Speaker 1: in a way. It's not just like the cousin with
- 13:45Speaker 1: her Madonna accent. Isn't just a punchline. She ends up
- 13:49Speaker 1: being the one who helps to get Rachel her break,
- 13:54Speaker 1: she helps find her agent, and then Mildred knows the
- 13:56Speaker 1: grandmother and they all come together. And this is the
- 14:00Speaker 1: kind of movie you need a murder board for, where
- 14:02Speaker 1: they're like, how do all of these people tie in together?
- 14:04Speaker 1: How do we make this work a little bit?
- 14:07Speaker 2: But it wasn't confusing.
- 14:09Speaker 1: It wasn't confusing, But there were no loose threads. It
- 14:12Speaker 1: wasn't just like Mildred in the Donut Shop was a punchline. Yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: everyone came together in the end.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Are you ready for what you wish? I am?
- 14:20Speaker 2: Go ahead. This is somewhat similar to what you said earlier.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Hallmark puts out forty plus Christmas movies, which is more
- 14:28Speaker 2: than enough, and I think the network needs more than
- 14:31Speaker 2: one token Honkah movie, especially because now we're kind of
- 14:34Speaker 2: at the end of the countdown to Christmas. Season. Like
- 14:37Speaker 2: you said, how does the one non Christmas movie end
- 14:42Speaker 2: up being the best of the bunch.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I just think like part of me was like trying
- 14:48Speaker 2: to figure this out. I was like, this movie really
- 14:50Speaker 2: wasn't about Honkkah. Yes, there was tons of like it
- 14:53Speaker 2: was they were at a Hanukah party, and there was
- 14:54Speaker 2: a lot of elements of like traditions done during Hanukkah, Right,
- 15:00Speaker 2: But it was a time loop movie. Like they could
- 15:02Speaker 2: have put it anywhere. It could have been in any background,
- 15:05Speaker 2: do you know what I mean. Yeah, It's just that
- 15:07Speaker 2: the Honiker representation is nice and it's fresh, and it
- 15:12Speaker 2: could have been a Christmas movie and it would have
- 15:14Speaker 2: been fine, and I probably would have loved it. But
- 15:16Speaker 2: I think it might not have been so special if
- 15:19Speaker 2: they're like, here is our heirloom ornament, and the ornament
- 15:24Speaker 2: is what launches the time loop. Right, Like you said,
- 15:27Speaker 2: we have thirty nine other movies that heavily feature ornaments
- 15:31Speaker 2: in Garland and stalking and hot chocolate and all of that,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and so yeah, and my point is, like, we have
- 15:38Speaker 2: these stories that are set in Christmas. We could have
- 15:40Speaker 2: taken any story from any of the thirty nine other movies.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And made it a Hanuka movie, is what I'm trying.
- 15:46Speaker 1: To I agree, Yes, I agree.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I just it kind of makes me mad that there's
- 15:53Speaker 2: only one yes and I. And it's funny because I
- 15:59Speaker 2: love this movie so much, and I think back up
- 16:01Speaker 2: last year, hanakut on Rye was also a standout movie
- 16:04Speaker 2: to me, and I just feel like it's not getting
- 16:07Speaker 2: enough promotion. That's my other wish. This movie came out
- 16:12Speaker 2: of nowhere right. There was like not really any heavy
- 16:15Speaker 2: promotion for it, nothing, And it's like, you know, they
- 16:19Speaker 2: build up a lot of these other movies and they
- 16:22Speaker 2: don't turn out to be so great. This movie just
- 16:24Speaker 2: was like it just was so good, so great.
- 16:27Speaker 1: It's been written up in other publications as being the
- 16:31Speaker 1: best and also possibly most non Hallmark movie. You know,
- 16:35Speaker 1: you're common about this could have been a Netflix movie,
- 16:37Speaker 1: right you add in some swearing and light nudity and
- 16:40Speaker 1: boom when it's a hit on Netflix. Well, even Brian
- 16:44Speaker 1: Gruenberg had a line at what he almost says ass
- 16:47Speaker 1: like he then he's like, I got knocked on my
- 16:52Speaker 1: tookis so yes, you're right, That's why I swear. I
- 16:56Speaker 1: was like, this is definitely a movie for Netflix. Like
- 16:58Speaker 1: it was so out of the Hallmark box to me,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and it felt like higher budget. They had like eighties
- 17:06Speaker 1: ish music there was you know, I'll Melt with You
- 17:09Speaker 1: is obviously like a big song, but like all the
- 17:12Speaker 1: other music that was played in had like real eighties vibes.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Well, my wish is a very trivial one, and it's
- 17:18Speaker 1: simply I wish Rachel would have changed clothes. Why because
- 17:25Speaker 1: she wears the same outfit every day during her time loop,
- 17:28Speaker 1: which I don't think is necessary. She knows she's in
- 17:31Speaker 1: a time loop. Yeah, isn't she tired of putting on
- 17:34Speaker 1: the same cardigan every single day? Everyone else has to
- 17:37Speaker 1: be in the same clothes and for continuity certainly makes
- 17:40Speaker 1: it much easier to edit this together with her in
- 17:43Speaker 1: the same clothes.
- 17:45Speaker 2: But I thought that might have been fun. She's like,
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm not wearing that again today. Are you ready to
- 17:51Speaker 2: move on to digite that? Sure? I have two, Okay.
- 17:57Speaker 2: The first one is the day that was repeated was
- 18:00Speaker 2: December thirteenth, which is also Taylor Swift's birthday.
- 18:03Speaker 1: No, which means nothing about that thing, but it means nothing.
- 18:08Speaker 5: But when I saw it, I was like, December thirteenth.
- 18:10Speaker 5: How interesting that they would use December thirteenth. I mean
- 18:14Speaker 5: unless that was the actual seventh night of Hanuka this year.
- 18:18Speaker 5: It probably was, and I just don't I don't know
- 18:20Speaker 5: those details.
- 18:21Speaker 2: But yes, what do you have? Because my next did
- 18:23Speaker 2: you see that? Is kind of You're gonna have to
- 18:26Speaker 2: bear with me while I get through it. Okay, Well,
- 18:29Speaker 2: I have a couple.
- 18:29Speaker 1: First of all, they use these like title cards in
- 18:33Speaker 1: these movies as they're bumping to commercial, like this movie
- 18:36Speaker 1: was brought to you by and it's been the same
- 18:38Speaker 1: title card for every movie. It has their like pink
- 18:41Speaker 1: and green and red candy logo on it with like
- 18:44Speaker 1: candy canes and stripes. Yeah, and for this movie it
- 18:48Speaker 1: was blue and yellow and white with a jelly donut
- 18:51Speaker 1: on it.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Oh and I.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Thought, nice job, guys changing up the cards for this
- 18:56Speaker 1: one movie. I thought that was the chirons that slide
- 18:59Speaker 1: in the bottom that are promoting every other movie are
- 19:02Speaker 1: still their classic Christmas colors. However, but your work did
- 19:06Speaker 1: not go unnoticed.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I have a did you see that? From IMDb? Yeah?
- 19:11Speaker 1: Tell me, says the bar they go to when they're
- 19:14Speaker 1: hunting down her bad boyfriend is supposed to be in Tribeca,
- 19:18Speaker 1: but then they show where it's located, which is on
- 19:21Speaker 1: West forty fifth Street, which, according to this comment or
- 19:23Speaker 1: is more of a Hell's kitchen, nowhere close to Tribeca.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Oh interesting, I know it. To finish up.
- 19:29Speaker 1: My last sear sure, Rick Hoffman as Dad makes an
- 19:33Speaker 1: Uncle Harvey comment which might have been coincidental, But you
- 19:37Speaker 1: can't convince me that that's not a nod to Harvey Specter,
- 19:42Speaker 1: the lead role in the show suits, who is his
- 19:47Speaker 1: like nemesis but also someone he really wants to be
- 19:51Speaker 1: loved by. In the show, they owe they're lawyers together.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Interesting, m very interesting. Interesting.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Okay, So here just I'm ready to go for a ride.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Bear with me here a second. Okay, So the top
- 20:06Speaker 1: of the movie we hear Rachel. She's talking about how
- 20:09Speaker 1: her parents meet, right, yes, and it was a long
- 20:13Speaker 1: night and they crossed the Brooklyn Bridge and they spend
- 20:15Speaker 1: the whole night.
- 20:16Speaker 2: At Goldberg's bake shop. So they go from like the
- 20:21Speaker 2: club that the mom's DJing at. She's narrating this, right,
- 20:24Speaker 2: they go to the From the club, they show a
- 20:27Speaker 2: New York City skyline from the vantage point of the
- 20:30Speaker 2: Brooklyn Bridge, and then they show them in the bakries.
- 20:34Speaker 2: So we are to think that skyline photo should be
- 20:39Speaker 2: of the eighties, right, oh, hear me out? All right.
- 20:44Speaker 2: So it took me on a little bit of a
- 20:46Speaker 2: deep die because at first I was looking for like
- 20:48Speaker 2: the Twin Towers sure, and I didn't see them. So
- 20:54Speaker 2: I was like, okay, well, I don't know New York
- 20:57Speaker 2: geography that well. So I was like, I don't know
- 20:59Speaker 2: where the Brooklyn bridges. Can you see the former Twin
- 21:03Speaker 2: Towers or the new like one World Trade Center tower
- 21:07Speaker 2: from the Brooklyn Bridge. So I looked up all these
- 21:11Speaker 2: pictures on Google. I'm telling you it was a deep dive,
- 21:14Speaker 2: and I figured out that from the vantage point, the
- 21:21Speaker 2: Twin Towers or the current World Trade Center would have
- 21:25Speaker 2: been left a frame, so we wouldn't have seen it.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And I thought, okay, that was probably purposeful. That dates it, right, yes, okay,
- 21:32Speaker 2: hear me out. Then I see the Verizon building. The
- 21:37Speaker 2: Verizon Building is like at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge,
- 21:41Speaker 2: and so the Verizon Building used to be home to
- 21:45Speaker 2: the New York Telephone and Bell Atlantic, but in twenty
- 21:52Speaker 2: twenty two they replaced the signage to Verizon. My point
- 21:58Speaker 2: is that b Roll is not from the eighties. That's
- 22:01Speaker 2: my point.
- 22:02Speaker 4: It's just that's all.
- 22:03Speaker 2: That's It took a long way to get there. I know,
- 22:05Speaker 2: I was my I had set out looking for like
- 22:08Speaker 2: the Twin Towers, but then I had really zeroed in
- 22:11Speaker 2: on the Verizon building and had learned that people really
- 22:14Speaker 2: hate that Verizon building apparently. Oh it's like architecturally not
- 22:18Speaker 2: pleasing to look at, so they hate it. Who knew?
- 22:20Speaker 2: I'm love that paid off for you in the end. Okay,
- 22:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry I did it for you. Oh it did
- 22:25Speaker 2: for me.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm just saying you went looking for one thing it
- 22:28Speaker 1: wasn't there, but then you were able to find something
- 22:30Speaker 1: else that proved your point.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Yes, yes, I'm not knocking the research. Okay, what did
- 22:36Speaker 2: you rate this movie? Five stars? Totally me too easy?
- 22:40Speaker 2: You know it's funny though. The only other five star
- 22:43Speaker 2: movie I gave was Biltmore Me Too, and two totally
- 22:46Speaker 2: different movies. Right. And the way that I'm thinking is
- 22:50Speaker 2: because we are going to launch our best movie bracket,
- 22:53Speaker 2: and I'm like, how do you like there are two
- 22:55Speaker 2: different movies? How do you pick? There can be only one?
- 22:58Speaker 1: I agree though it is hard to pick, and if
- 23:01Speaker 1: you were to ask me to pick my favorite of
- 23:03Speaker 1: the season, it would be hard because they're very different movies.
- 23:07Speaker 1: This was the best comedy of the season, but Biltmore
- 23:10Speaker 1: was the best romance of the season.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Interesting, both are time traveling, time looping.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Oh what is wrong with me? Maybe I don't like
- 23:23Speaker 2: sci fi? Yeah, I don't know. I mean, there's no Dolorean. Yeah. Man,
- 23:29Speaker 2: but those nerds at the comic shop give it in.
- 23:32Speaker 1: The loved good so much when they read her book
- 23:37Speaker 1: and start taking notes on it and they're all in
- 23:39Speaker 1: on this project. I loved them.
