- 0:15SPEAKER_02: It's all coming next.
- 0:35SPEAKER_02: Episode four of Let's Stick Together brought to you by Y Wan.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: We had a week off last week, I'm sorry.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: But we're back, all three of us in a room, Brendan celebrating.
- 0:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, plenty to talk about.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: First of all, how are you guys?
- 0:52SPEAKER_05: Uh all but relegated, so not in the best of places.
- 0:58SPEAKER_05: Never say never, but yeah, tough, tough, tough to come back from a 19 goal difference.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: I mean you went straight into straight into the the woes of Bowdoin.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: But can we just quickly touch on is Yupe okay?
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: You alright Yupe?
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: You can relegate it.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: What what's your issue, boy?
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: What's your issue?
- 1:23SPEAKER_04: Nothing, brother.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: This went completely past me.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: I don't think I'm sorry, I shouldn't laugh.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: That's terrible, brother.
- 1:30SPEAKER_05: Not officially relegated, we're all but relegated.
- 1:33SPEAKER_05: There's a difference.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: You've got two games to go, you're six points behind and a minus 19 goal difference behind the the the team that could go down.
- 1:43SPEAKER_05: But if we win 10-nil this weekend, we're one goal ahead.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: What's the max what's the um what's the maximum you scored this year against anyone?
- 1:56SPEAKER_05: Oh that is a tough question.
- 1:58SPEAKER_05: Three?
- 1:58SPEAKER_05: I think three.
- 2:00SPEAKER_05: It's asking a lot, but it's possible.
- 2:05SPEAKER_05: You are you okay?
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm good.
- 2:08SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Stop grinning.
- 2:10SPEAKER_05: You stop enjoying people's struggles.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Right, before we get on to Bowden and Brendan's Brendan's tough times of being relegated.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Um first of all, a couple of things.
- 2:22SPEAKER_02: I got an email the other day from our from our platform that told us that since we've started using an official platform, we've just hit a hundred thousand downloads.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: So thank you very much to anyone who's been tuning in who's a new listener who's an old listener.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: 100,000 downloads.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: It's probably something to celebrate.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: So, congratulations to you two choppers.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: You're gonna make some comments about him carrying the podcast for the last six seasons.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: But yeah, thank you.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: Thank you to anyone who tunes in and listens to the three of us talk what a drill.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: That's actually pretty cool.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: Like, come on, that's pretty cool.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: For two average podcasters and one really good one.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: That's that's really that's that's an achievement.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: That's really, really, really, really well done.
- 3:09SPEAKER_05: I'm fucking sick of him, Phil.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: We've only been on for two minutes, but that's fair enough.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: But yeah, thank you very much.
- 3:16SPEAKER_02: Um, and thank you to the people who listened for long enough last week to give us more suggestions about a slightly inconvenient thing for a burglar to steal.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: We had a lot of people collecting batteries.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Um didn't one of you say batteries last week?
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Brendan did.
- 3:34SPEAKER_02: So I don't know how hard people are actually listening, but um a lot of people were talking about taking the batteries out of the remotes.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Um is there any any insoles of shoes?
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: That's quite a good one.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Nothing's nothing's jumped out to me to make me think we're gonna send them something, which again is it's go on, Brett.
- 3:57SPEAKER_05: On the insoles of shoes, Strown Walker.
- 4:00SPEAKER_05: When he played in Hamburg, he actually had his insoles of his shoes stolen and still doesn't know who it is to this day.
- 4:10SPEAKER_05: So Struew Walker now plays up front for Serviton.
- 4:12SPEAKER_05: He is genuinely an individual that has suffered that and genuinely is still annoyed to this day.
- 4:18SPEAKER_05: So turns out it really is a mild inconvenience.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Speaking of Struan Walker, he has a rival hockey podcast.
- 4:27SPEAKER_02: Did you know that?
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: I only found that out today.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: What stream Walker Scottish International with Max Anderson, who's I think in the EDP, play for Surbiton.
- 4:38SPEAKER_02: They've got a rival hockey podcast.
- 4:40SPEAKER_05: What's it called?
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: No idea, but here's a here's a free plug for you guys on a fellow hockey podcast.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: You doesn't look impressed.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: No, not really, to be honest.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Like I'm I'm not gonna ash him because he's coming to Orange Road.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: I'm really happy he's coming to Oraine Road.
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: You can't do people understand him?
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: Like he thought he speaks Scottish, right?
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: He's like posh Scottish though.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: So he's not like a Lee Morton where you can't understand a thing he says.
- 5:15SPEAKER_05: He's uh Did he did he tell you he'd started a rival hockey podcast?
- 5:19SPEAKER_02: I feel like he mentioned it and then and then um Darcy Bourne, who's a Y1 athlete, mentioned it to me today.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: Because we did a uh there was the we did a Y1 photo shoot at Bisham with uh a lot of the GB uh athletes where I was I I actually had to put my podcast hat on and interview some of the athletes and and ask them silly questions.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Um one of them being what's you what would your spirit animal be?
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: Do do either of you know what your spirit animal would be?
- 5:53SPEAKER_05: Quite gangly.
- 5:55SPEAKER_05: Gibbon?
- 5:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah, a gibbon, yeah, a gibbon.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: They can be loud and annoying.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: Do you know you this will annoy you, but you're the third person today that gave himself a sloth.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: They're so mainstream.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: I I've never I've never never said that I wasn't mainstream.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Like I I'm a I'm a popular guy, so he has popular opinions.
- 6:23SPEAKER_05: Oh fucking hell.
- 6:24SPEAKER_05: I'd give him a giraffe, another gangly fuck.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that seems fair, seems more accurate.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: But they also think um like uh what what's the what's it called?
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: What's the little animal in um in the Lion King with with uh Timon and Puma?
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: What what are they called?
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: What's it yeah, like a very very like uh uh distracted by life, or like a Labrador, like a dog who's distracted by life itself.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: ADHD, yeah, just an ADHD kind of kind of who's like, oh, what's that?
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: What's that like you know something like that?
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: I like you as a makeup.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: That's a good that's a good uh like picture in my mind.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: Um but we did have a Y1 shoot, it was it was looking good.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: Amesy Amesy was on photography.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: UP will be devastated that you know Amesy wasn't, you know, you weren't here for AMC to photograph you.
- 7:15SPEAKER_02: We were doing some challenges, you know.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: I have got a couple of problems.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: So first of all, they gave us our sticks.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: The sticks are really nice, nice and proactive for next year.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: Sticks are looking cool, but problem when you do these like shoots, or you people are taking photos and videos of you and trying to make you do cool stuff is we have a really good sponsor goalie called Ollie Payne.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: We've talked about him quite a lot, and what he does is what I've worked out is ruin photo shoots because he just continually saves the ball.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: So word to the wise for anyone who's listening who's trying to run a successful video shoot for athletes looking good, choose a rubbish goalie.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: You heard it here first.
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: Can you imagine telling like a sponsored goalie, you can't be in for this bit, we need some goals, and then bring on someone else.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Imagine being told we need you as a goal shooters we need to score a goal.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: Equally, imagine being told to step out of the picture if you're one of the outfielders because you can't score goals.
- 8:13SPEAKER_05: Like it's just a horrible place to be.
- 8:18SPEAKER_02: Also from last week, Jody Paul, uh, who who I know I know fairly well, who's one of the assistant coaches of uh England GB Women, um came straight up to me this week in the offices uh with a massive smile on his face, shook my hand and thanked me for talking about the the GB Women, but was also expressed his disappointment that you poor Brenn didn't give him any ideas, thoughts about about you know the direction and and what you really thought.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Uh Brendan, as normal, he thought you were too on the fence.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: Um so Jody, I know you're listening.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: Appreciate your appreciate feedback.
- 8:54SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, Brendan will take it on.
- 8:55SPEAKER_02: He he was annoyed at you for for just randomly starting to talk about why GB and England are two separate things.
- 9:02SPEAKER_01: And just but if he if the if this guy has a problem with me, come up to me.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Don't don't don't tell you about this problem with me.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I'll I'll I'll I'll tell him to space.
- 9:15SPEAKER_05: I'll give him your number, you I'll give him your number.
- 9:20SPEAKER_05: I'll fuck him up.
- 9:21SPEAKER_05: That's what I'm doing.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Fucking hell.
- 9:27SPEAKER_02: Ren, you got any comments about that?
- 9:29SPEAKER_05: Oh no, he's got a good point.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: I think I think it's exactly what I meant with uh why I would choose a mere cat or a labrador.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I just get distracted and lose sight of the conversation we're having and start to go in a different direction.
- 9:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fair enough for that.
- 9:47SPEAKER_01: I'm not I'm not excusing myself for it, not excusing us for it.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: That's just the way it goes.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: If you don't like it, Jody, listen to another podcast.
- 9:54SPEAKER_05: No, don't, because he'll go to the rival podcast.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: No, he's not listening to Struan.
- 9:59SPEAKER_02: I know Jody well enough.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: Jody's sticky with us.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Um, first of all, we'll touch on the youp.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: I have got something to to ask you because I think we kind of scoffed a little bit at you a couple of weeks ago when you started talking about oh are gonna make the playoffs.
- 10:14SPEAKER_02: You heard it here first.
- 10:16SPEAKER_02: We've had a I've had a decent look at the table, seen your results, and I can see it.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: I'm getting a little bit more you know punchy.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: If we were on a betting section, I I wouldn't be adverse to stinging a couple of quid on it.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: Well, to be honest, this weekend we'll be uh we're going away to blue now.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: So we can either we we could either book our our holidays on Sunday or uh we're very, very, very much in it.
- 10:45SPEAKER_01: We're only three points down of the number four spot.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Momentum is shifting our way, fives are high, confidence is at an all-time high.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're going places.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Um I don't need the playoffs, but we're going places.
- 10:59SPEAKER_05: Your results haven't necessarily been convincing, though, have they?
- 11:03SPEAKER_05: Says the guy who's been relegated out of the English Premier League.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Like, come on.
- 11:08SPEAKER_05: Uh not officially yet.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Who's unofficially relegated?
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: We had the um, it's a nice segue towards um the most uh pathetic, uh, most uh embarrassing part, I think, of my hockey career to date.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: Um, and there's let's be honest, there's been some embarrassing moments in my hockey career.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: Um, there's been a mixtape about all the corners I've gotten against me uh in the World League uh four in 2019 or 2018.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: Um missed out on several uh uh selections.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Uh um you can name it.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: We we got a corner against uh SCHC.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: It was uh 15 seconds to play, 16 seconds to play.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: We got a penalty corner.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Stixer um took their goal, had their goalie off, so there were five players in the goal.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: We as a record decided to take the penalty corner short and go into the corner instead of going for goal.
- 12:08SPEAKER_05: Bill, have you not seen the highlights?
- 12:10SPEAKER_05: No, it's amazing.
- 12:11SPEAKER_05: They literally just take the take the ball to the left slip and just run to the corner and lose the ball.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: You're not being serious, not mentally serious.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: I'm actually missing it.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I'll explain the situation.
- 12:22SPEAKER_01: We're kind of traumatized.
- 12:24SPEAKER_01: I think in the last four games, four balls have been taken off the line uh by the opponent.
- 12:31SPEAKER_01: Um like we we we kampong scored a goal against the corner we had, so they had like a counter-attack scored a goal.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: We were kind of kind of like nervous to say the least.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: Um, me and Slover, we kind of had like a like a brain fart in which we forgot uh sc didn't have their goalie in.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: So Slow said, let's just fuck it, let's just go to the corner, let's save, let's waste time because it's only uh 17 seconds, they will never have a chance to score.
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: So we took the corner, went to the corner.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: All of a sudden, I look at the goal and I thought fuck they didn't have a goalie.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: So it was very embarrassing.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: We still like we won the game, and they didn't it it our plan kind of worked to be honest, but still, it's in my top three moments of most embarrassing things in my career.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: And so you're gonna it's not three, it's not two how you how you want to play the game.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: It's also I understand that I was thinking the whole time, you know, you don't have a an out and out flicker, but I would still if it was me, um, and I'm not a hugely confident guy, but I'd I'd take a little bunt and I'd I'd I I'd back myself to score.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: Um, I am disappointed in any of your flickers that they didn't turn around to you two and go, um, I reckon I could flick this one in.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was a I think one of the flickers actually tried to, but then we were very uh and I'm not it was very much like not a debate.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: We were like, no, shut the fuck up, we're doing this.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so do you not normally go to the coach on the sideline to get the call?
- 14:13SPEAKER_05: Do you not go to the coach to the sideline to get the call?
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so one of the flickers went to the sideline with with the call.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: We overruled it.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was a it was a great, great showing for the first year.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: But like my my my my mantra of the like my my my my slogan for the last couple weeks is you can only win three points on a Sunday.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Doesn't matter, there's no pictures on the scorecard, three points in the back.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: We have a we have a very like can't argue.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: We don't have like a goal difference of Bowden, but we're like pretty close to it.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: So we're not even worried about the goal difference anymore.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: We gotta win it outright, so we're not even worried about that.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: You gotta find a way to win.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: I understand that part.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: That's a good that's a good way.
- 14:57SPEAKER_02: I do I would like to know after the game whether you and De Slow were trying to put the other one under the bus and be like, oh well, it wasn't definitely wasn't me.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: No, we both we both said uh uh uh well to to the group we said it was uh it was our call.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: I said to multiple people wasn't it that it was Slow's call, not my call.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Slow said to a bunch of people it was my call, not his call.
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: So uh yeah, I think in the end people will still think it was our call.
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Uh was it a stupid call?
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: Yes, it was.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Um uh but yeah, fuck it.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: Shit happens.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: On to the next one.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: You live and you learn, Philip and Brennan you live and you learn.
- 15:35SPEAKER_05: So much admiration for the way you've just owned that whole situation.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah, it was us.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: We made the decision.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: Is that move on?
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: Is that better or worse than than Sam Ward today?
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: We were playing five on five drills, like a continuous five and five where there's three teams, and um, they were two-minute games, and every time his team was winning with 30 seconds to go, he would try to take the ball into the corner.
- 15:58SPEAKER_02: Because I gave him some stick and he was immensely proud of himself, which was quite funny.
- 16:04SPEAKER_05: But again, it's good shit owsery, yes.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: But in training, I don't know how much I agree with it, but it is good shit owlsery.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: Um, Brent, going on to Bowden.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Like, do you want to give us a lowdown or are you happy with what you've said?
- 16:16SPEAKER_05: Uh we won again on the weekend.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: We've we've somehow turned up for the books, but unfortunately, it's a little too late.
- 16:24SPEAKER_05: Um, yeah, it's as simple as it is, just a little bit, a little too late.
- 16:30SPEAKER_05: Um, I I do have a question, and it's the question I asked you on Sunday, Phil.
- 16:36SPEAKER_05: Um, why in the league, in the three groups of four, are two groups starting from zero and one group starting from whatever points they've earned throughout the season?
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: That doesn't really make much sense to me.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: I mean, are there are we really going down this road again where we have to no?
- 16:57SPEAKER_05: It's more just that's a question, but it's just a stupid fucking rule.
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: That's basically all I'm saying, and we're moving on.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: You know, I I I think the the English Federation should should like think of an idea, and once they think this is the best idea we've we have, throw it in the trash can, never look at it again, and do the complete opposite of what they thought was a good idea.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I think then they have some solid golden hands.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: I think you you you very clearly last week made made your stance on English structure, and I don't think we need to get back into that either.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: So we'll just shit.
- 17:34SPEAKER_05: Let's move on.
- 17:34SPEAKER_02: Well, let's probably move it on.
- 17:36SPEAKER_02: Um would it would do a thing?
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Like are they let's say I would be in the loop in the in the in the at a table with them.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Would they like think what's this guy talking about?
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: Where or do they think, yeah, we might fucked we we might have fucked it up a little bit?
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Like what do you know their stance on it, or do they like do they own it, or do they like do they like I'm not completely sure who made it?
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: So so I think they'd throw it around the table like you and Dislova.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Being like, it wasn't me, it's him.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: No, it's his idea.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: It's his idea.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: Okay, so um I'll very quickly touch on OG's week.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: Oh, you won again.
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: Who cares?
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: You were 4-0 up after 10 minutes.
- 18:20SPEAKER_05: It's boring now, mate.
- 18:22SPEAKER_05: We want you to be in like a close game or like come and join up at the bottom of the table where you travel every week.
- 18:27SPEAKER_05: Come and join.
- 18:28SPEAKER_02: We've had two weeks, Brent.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: You forget, and so the the week before last, we actually dropped our first points of the year.
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Um, we drew five-all with Wimbledon.
- 18:37SPEAKER_02: Um we were five three up with six minutes to go, managed to manage to throw it away.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Um, and then this week we've gone into phase three.
- 18:46SPEAKER_02: We're not gonna talk about phase three, but we beat East Crinstead 6-1.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: Um on only described as a as a bad pitch at our own home place, but we'll move on, right?
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: We're gonna do an EHL preview and our own intriguing players to watch for the EHL.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: So I've stole this shamelessly from Bill Simmons, who's a basketball podcast.
- 19:14SPEAKER_02: But intriguing players, we're gonna choose from different categories.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: But first of all, before we get into that, for anyone who doesn't know, um the EHL is on from the 16th to 21st of April, which should be in a couple of days if this is getting released at the right time.
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: It is the final 12 of the women and the final eight of the men.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: Brendan, you got your hand up already or not?
- 19:37SPEAKER_05: No, I was giggling because I was like, if this should be released on time.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: We're not completely sure.
- 19:43SPEAKER_02: And for I'm gonna be trying to try and be helpful to people.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Where can you watch the EHL?
- 19:48SPEAKER_02: Well, every game will be broadcast on a pay-per-view basis at eurohockeytv.org, and you can pay 14 euros 99, which grants access to all 26 games, just uh go to eurohockeytv.org.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: You you're smiling, you okay?
- 20:06SPEAKER_02: Is this just feel weird that we're providing a service?
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: But the way the way you said it was funny.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Where can you watch it?
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: Did you ask yourself, did you ask yourself, where can you watch it?
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: That's a great question, Phil.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: You can watch it.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: Hey, I'm doing my best here.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: Um, I'll try and very quickly describe how the final 12 of the women work.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: So there's four games in the first day on the 16th of April, and all of the winners will then play in the quarterfinals against four already qualified teams.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: The men, it's just a straight quarterfinals.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: So before I start, you guys got anything before I start the uh intriguing players to watch?
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: No, Phil.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: Great introduction, like it.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I've come up with five categories.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: We're all gonna choose five, but um, so you can choose any of the women or the men, but from the categories are superstar player, under the radar, guy or girl, watch them save the ball, bit of fire, anger, and a goal scorer.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: So we're all gonna obviously you could be hopefully you're gonna choose some intriguing players and explain why, and we can have a little chat about it.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: Brendan, do you want to start?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: You can choose from any category.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: We'll go we'll go superstar.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: No, but you can choose you could say, okay, I'm gonna choose a under the radar next.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: It doesn't matter.
- 21:40SPEAKER_05: Oh, oh, okay.
- 21:42SPEAKER_05: Um I'll start with superstar.
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: Alright.
- 21:47SPEAKER_05: Um my superstar is Duco Tolkien Camp.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: Um mainly because I kind of want to see if he can back it up.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: Because kind of like he's a bit of a known problem.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: Prospect now, everyone's kind of seen him a bit.
- 22:02SPEAKER_05: He's got another opportunity yet again on TV to behave like a twat or go and score some goals.
- 22:08SPEAKER_05: So either way, I think it's going to be great to watch him.
- 22:12SPEAKER_05: And especially against English opposition, I think it'll be a really good um matchup for game one against Serberton.
- 22:17SPEAKER_05: So Campon v.
- 22:18SPEAKER_05: Serviton in that first game.
- 22:19SPEAKER_05: So for me, he is definitely a superstar player because I think I think he'll bring the both the good side and the bad side of him, which I think will be really good to see.
- 22:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's it is it's so yeah, nice, nice one, Brent.
- 22:31SPEAKER_02: That's a solid start.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: And what what I'm a little bit disappointed about is there's the no German teams playing.
- 22:37SPEAKER_05: Because so I was gonna raise this.
- 22:40SPEAKER_05: Is this the first time?
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: Must be in a long time, yeah.
- 22:45SPEAKER_05: Because it's it is wild, isn't it?
- 22:47SPEAKER_05: That there's no German side in the top eight for EHL.
- 22:52SPEAKER_05: Bear in mind how much money's been spent by some German sides on players.
- 22:56SPEAKER_05: Absolute cashole are thrown at any foreigner, and they're still not qualified.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's fair.
- 23:02SPEAKER_02: It's fair.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: But yeah, going back to Duco, I think that that it'll be it'll be pretty exciting.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: I think there'll be a lot of people watching him.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: But if if you're not, then I think it's a great choice from Brenn.
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: UP, any comments on that, or do you want to take it away?
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think there's a lot more to to add.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: I think I'm also curious about Duco.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: I I love the guy, he's he's so fucking funny.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: Um shall I go with the next?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, go for it.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: I'll take under the radar guy girl.
- 23:34SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm I'm going uh for uh and I'm completely uh unbiased in this one.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: I'm going for Struan Walker.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: I think the guy is gonna score a couple of good goals against Kampong.
- 23:52SPEAKER_01: I think he's gonna let Kampung know he's gonna give his uh his uh what do you call his business card to Kampong?
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Like, watch out, you motherfuckers.
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: Next year you're in for a treat.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: Uh and he's gonna score.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: I think they're gonna lose 7-6 and he's gonna score five.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: My prediction.
- 24:09SPEAKER_05: Do you question do you think is David Hart back in or is STN Creek playing?
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: Makes a hell of a difference though, but I have no clue.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: I don't know to be honest.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: I really have no clue though, like like no clue.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: I think he's like close, but for a goalie, he's he's injured quite a lot, eh, David Hart.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 24:34SPEAKER_05: Old boy now, isn't he?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: It's a it's a really good pick.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: I think I don't know how under the rate Ostruan is because he's fairly well known over here, but I think it's a good pick.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: He's also, I think, either got that ability to score an absolute worldie.
- 24:50SPEAKER_02: Um, so so let's hope we let's hope we see that.
- 24:53SPEAKER_02: Um shall I go next?
- 24:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you go, Phil.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: So I'm also totally unbiased.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: Um I'm gonna go watch them save the ball, and I'm gonna put our very own OG's George Pinner.
- 25:10SPEAKER_02: Now, there's a couple of reasons for this.
- 25:13SPEAKER_02: Is first of all, he he really enjoys a big occasion and he is an absolute shit house.
- 25:18SPEAKER_02: So if anyone doesn't know that you should 100% watch it, watch him because first of all, he's a talented goalie.
- 25:26SPEAKER_02: Second of all, if we go to shootouts, you will see all of the shithouse re under the sun.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: And if anyone from the crowd starts getting stuck into him, he has an ill ability to shut his mouth and he will a hundred percent go back at them.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: So I think I think three of them reasons are are pretty good to say he is an intriguing player to watch, he is an intriguing goalie to watch, he enjoys a cartwheel, so probably watch him.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: He's a he's he's an idiot, right?
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: He's he's he's he's he's he's an idiot, right?
- 25:58SPEAKER_05: He's not an idiot.
- 25:59SPEAKER_05: Why he he is a sh he is a shit house.
- 26:02SPEAKER_05: That is the best way to describe him, just to shit.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: That's like he's like I've never spoken to him or anything, but he seems like in a positive way.
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: He's like, I'm an idiot as well, but he's also easily he's an idiot, right?
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: He likes he likes or you're not on Twitter, he likes nibbling at people on Twitter as well, which is hilarious.
- 26:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, good, he's got a good Twitter account, yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: I might go to I might just go to watch your game just to stand behind the goal and just say a couple of things to him.
- 26:28SPEAKER_01: You're shy, mate.
- 26:29SPEAKER_01: You're shy.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: Why are you Australian?
- 26:34SPEAKER_05: No, no, men of the world.
- 26:38SPEAKER_05: Right, I'll move it on.
- 26:39SPEAKER_05: Um, I've gone oh, I'll go goal scorer.
- 26:44SPEAKER_05: I've gone Blumenthal's Aussie up front.
- 26:48SPEAKER_05: Nice little segue.
- 26:49SPEAKER_05: Uh Nathan Ephraims, he seems to be banging in goals in the league and quietly going about his business, just putting the ball in the back of the net.
- 26:57SPEAKER_05: And I think he'll be.
- 26:58SPEAKER_05: I'm actually intrigued to see what he's like uh in the HR because I think they've if Blumenthal get a little bit of a run, he's got a chance to score a bucket load because they feed him pretty well.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: Pretty good one.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: I think we've already talked about him a little bit, so yeah, probably nothing to add there.
- 27:17SPEAKER_05: Absolute books, man, just delivering.
- 27:19SPEAKER_05: Come on then, you what you got on the spot.
- 27:22SPEAKER_05: What you got?
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: I'm going uh bit of fire.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm going bit of fire uh guy.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: And I'm going with uh Antoine Kina.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm he is must watch TV in a way that I've never seen someone complain as much to a ref as he does.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: He's like in the same category as Tom Grambush.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: The annoying thing with him is though is that he that he he backs it up, if that makes sense.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: I don't think he's like he's one of the few players like you have um uh your co your coach has probably told you once that you be you gotta be in circle one.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: You have like six circles of attention or whatever, and you gotta be in circle one as me and my job.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: He's always in circle six, but his circle six like is is is also includes him and his job.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: So he it's his job is to come to constantly complain to a referee, take a card every now and then, but also fuck everyone up that's in front of him with like uh uh skills in the in the square meter.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: So like big fan of his and especially the way he handles himself.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: I think it's really funny.
- 28:31SPEAKER_05: I think that's also got a it's an all-Belgian quarter final, isn't it?
- 28:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that against um Leopold.
- 28:39SPEAKER_01: Leopold, right?
- 28:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, which also had adds a little extra spice on top of it all.
- 28:45SPEAKER_05: Fife.
- 28:46SPEAKER_05: A little bit of spyth.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: I think I think that's also a great, a great call, Antoine Kina, who's if you could just play a cam him, I think the whole time.
- 28:56SPEAKER_02: First of all, you get insanely talented hockey, but also you get the whole package.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: You get you get the the the moaning, the the dribbling, the passing, everything.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: It's it's uh it's the whole package, so definitely one to watch.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: Very, very good you.
- 29:14SPEAKER_02: Um who should I take next?
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: What a choice.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: I I'm gonna go easy, I'll go for goal scorer, and I'm I'm gonna take Tom Boone.
- 29:26SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I mean, it's just just he's got it in him and he to just rock up and score seven and walk away.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think Gantoir are probably the better team on paper, but I think when you have him up front um with his flicking and ability to score from absolutely anywhere, I think that that yeah, it's a very obvious one and a bit of a boring one to be honest.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: So I'm pretty sure we can just move straight along.
- 29:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you're pretty good, mate.
- 29:51SPEAKER_05: We don't want to talk about you.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Um I'll go we get it.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: You score a shitload of goals, you're one of the best players right now.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: We get it.
- 29:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we're not bothered by it, we want more box office.
- 30:02SPEAKER_05: Keno is box office, Duco is box office.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: That's what we want.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: Right, we're back for part two of EHL Intriguing players.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: It's Brendan's pick.
- 30:15SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go under the radar and I'm gonna go for two.
- 30:18SPEAKER_05: I don't know if they've made it into the seniors yet, but they definitely were under 21s.
- 30:22SPEAKER_05: Um, Dutch Internationals, Maud Van der Hervel and Meta Vinta.
- 30:26SPEAKER_05: I think like having watched them quite a bit now, they are actually seriously good players.
- 30:32SPEAKER_05: Um, two young forwards that kind of play the game a little bit differently.
- 30:36SPEAKER_05: Meta Vinter plays as if she's about 35, she's just got a serious amount of intelligence in there, and Maud is forward coming through that's just pretty lethal in front of goal and is putting the ball away this season.
- 30:46SPEAKER_05: Um, so they're my two under the radar ones to watch.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: Nice choices, Brad.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Oh it's my turn again.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Um I'm going for um goal score, and I'm not going the conventional route of going for uh Hendrix or Yebian's or whatever.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: I'm going for and this will be the first time I'm actually butchering a name.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: Um Andre Belling Belgium girl who's uh front from Gantoise.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're not sure how you pronounce it either.
- 31:31SPEAKER_01: So nice job, you thank you.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: It's exactly how you pronounce it.
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: But she plays she plays up front at uh at Gantoise, she has a drag flick, she scores goals.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: Like I think she might I think Gantois, like I'm not sure, but they might only be the only like threat towards um the Dutch teams, uh as far as you can consider any other team a threat.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: But uh, I think they could like do some damage there.
- 31:57SPEAKER_02: So I think that's a really good pick.
- 31:59SPEAKER_02: I do I do feel quite disappointed that you scoffed at me a couple of weeks ago when I said Gantois could do the double, and you were like, oh, no one's gonna beat the Dutch women's teams.
- 32:06SPEAKER_05: But now you're not just what you just said then, Phil.
- 32:10SPEAKER_05: You just went a challenge if you could call it that.
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: The arrogance of this boy, it's doing my head in.
- 32:15SPEAKER_05: It's still arse.
- 32:17SPEAKER_05: It's my arrogance.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yours.
- 32:20SPEAKER_01: What not Phil's.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: What what did I do wrong?
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: Because I I don't believe they can do a double.
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: In two games she plays, she can score a couple goals, right?
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: And then she faces Dutch team and she's out.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: That's not that's I never said they're going to win it.
- 32:35SPEAKER_01: I just said she's gonna score some goals.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fair enough.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: I think that is actually a really good choice.
- 32:39SPEAKER_02: She's a she's a very, very good goal scorer, and um, like very, very, very um nice to watch.
- 32:45SPEAKER_02: I think she can score from a lot of angles.
- 32:47SPEAKER_02: So um on to my one.
- 32:50SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go with bit of fire, guy and girl.
- 32:53SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm gonna go with a friend of the podcast, previous guest, Vortelbur.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: Now I didn't think he was angry, but then I saw him at the Hockey India League, and he was angry all of the time, to a point where I was kind of worried for him, and I actually spoke to him about it and thought maybe you know he's turned it down a little bit.
- 33:14SPEAKER_02: But he he he was he was adamant that it was the umpire's fault.
- 33:17SPEAKER_02: So I think if you want to again watch someone who's got immense talent, but along with along with plenty of fire, um, I think watch watch for he's angry at life classic carrot farmer.
- 33:34SPEAKER_05: Yeah, don't like the guy.
- 33:35SPEAKER_05: What an idiot.
- 33:37SPEAKER_05: Um watch them save the ball.
- 33:40SPEAKER_05: I've gone for a pretty bog standard, and like you guys, I've kind of gone for that um biased opinion.
- 33:47SPEAKER_05: Um, I've gone for Maz Mazarello for Serbiton.
- 33:50SPEAKER_05: I think that game one against Campong is gonna be a pretty good test to see.
- 33:57SPEAKER_05: Basically, I think it's gonna come down to the goalkeepers, and I think with Campong's if Davy Hart's playing or not playing, I think I'll make a big difference for them.
- 34:04SPEAKER_05: And likewise, if Maz has a good game, I think there's a good chance of the English side going through.
- 34:08SPEAKER_05: So, from that point of view, I think I really hope Maz has a good weekend, and he's one of those goalkeepers that I genuinely do love to watch because he's a little bit unconventional.
- 34:17SPEAKER_05: I wouldn't necessarily say he's like your textbook goalkeeper, I'd just say he's just seriously good.
- 34:21SPEAKER_05: So, yeah, that's my pick.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Nothing to add.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: Maz is shit as well.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, shit.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm going for also watch them save the ball, and I'm going for uh Dek Meyer from Rotterdam.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, not because he's a good goalie, but I think uh the other team he's playing against will hit a lot of balls against him, so he'll look very good.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: No, I think I genuinely think Derek Meyer is like a goalie to watch.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Uh he he has it he has a terrible attitude, he's very arrogant, especially towards me.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: He he last week he made a joke where he was drinking a ginger beer.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: Send me a picture where he uh crossed the ginger part and wrote you beer.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: Um like that's that's like 90% of the jokes towards me are about the color of my hair, which I don't even have that color, but fine.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: Uh but I think he will be a player to watch, and I can go to watch.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: He can be very uh on and make it look.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: I like his style of goading, in the which he looks like he doesn't give a shit, but still saves a lot of balls, and I like that kind of like it looks very um aloof, very effortless, effortless.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Still, still, I and I know he doesn't, I still don't like him, but uh as a person, he's an idiot, but uh no, I love him, he's a good guy.
- 35:49SPEAKER_02: What would you say he's best at in a goalie?
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Or maybe what's his weakest side?
- 35:55SPEAKER_05: Just just ask him for a mate.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: Sorry for context there.
- 36:00SPEAKER_02: Oh Georgians, my team are playing are playing Derek Meyer's team.
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: He is though, he is the most approachable guy in the field.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: I've ever we played Rotterdam beginning of the second half season.
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: He saved the corner, but he saved it like right straight back into the nine yards.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Um and I walked past him and I said, It was a shitty save or something, but I said it not too words, but I like said it in the air.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: I heard him laughing and on the way back when we crossed each other again.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: He like mimicked my voice.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: He didn't want a thitty save.
- 36:33SPEAKER_01: Like, that's and he the whole game he had it in his head, but it didn't really affect him.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: But he's like very so if you just say something to him, Phil, just you're you're close to him, just say something to him.
- 36:41SPEAKER_01: I'm guaranteeing you'll get a response from him.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: He's like you know, it will be a good goalie fight.
- 36:46SPEAKER_05: Spinner against Maier.
- 36:48SPEAKER_05: Phil, I re I reckon you I reckon you go for the wrong name with him.
- 36:52SPEAKER_05: You go for like a dick or a dirk or a dirk, you know what I mean?
- 36:56SPEAKER_05: Like with Dick Devilde, like that kind of thing.
- 36:58SPEAKER_05: Just just mess around with his name.
- 36:59SPEAKER_05: I reckon that'll get in his head.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: We'll just call him Moritz Vissa.
- 37:02SPEAKER_02: You're that is that your name?
- 37:05SPEAKER_05: Shit, I was ready.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: I've actually spent most of my most of my week trying to trying to like it's a really fun way of training where you like really want to get into a goalie's head.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: So anytime I score past Maz, I'll just instantly tell him about it and then just ignore him anytime he saves the ball off me.
- 37:27SPEAKER_02: So then it to a point where he chased me after he saved a one-on-one just to tell me that he'd saved a one-on-one.
- 37:34SPEAKER_02: I was like, it's a good headspace run here, Maz.
- 37:37SPEAKER_05: I'm in I'm in there.
- 37:39SPEAKER_02: I'm in there.
- 37:42SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, also I guess Hugh, can I ask you a serious question about Maya?
- 37:47SPEAKER_02: Like, is is um what would you say the chances are of him becoming number one in the next few years?
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: Is it him and Vissa going head to head at the moment, or is it what is it a serial uh just a normal one-two?
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to be honest, I don't really know because I don't really um know anything about uh being a goalkeeper.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: Like genuinely.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: I have no clue who's better at the moment.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: I think they're both very good.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: Uh, I think Kim in was this the like clear number one for uh for a while.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: Um and he's uh yeah gone.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: What what did you what did he dead, Brandon?
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: It's just not goalie anymore.
- 38:32SPEAKER_01: What the fuck?
- 38:34SPEAKER_01: Uh but you just made it cross.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Um but um so uh yeah, I've no I have no clue.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: I think they're like it's very close.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: Like I'm happy I don't have to make that decision, to be honest, like because I I wouldn't know.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: Genuinely, I think both both are really good.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay, fair enough.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Just intrigued.
- 38:52SPEAKER_02: Uh Brendan, back on to you.
- 38:54SPEAKER_05: No, you're one, Phil.
- 38:55SPEAKER_05: You've got two to go still.
- 38:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, is it me?
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: Um I am going to go for superstar player, and I am gonna go for Xandervard.
- 39:06SPEAKER_02: I think it's pretty easy, easy, easy take.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, you know, we've there's a huge first game there in that if Sticks will win their first game, they're gonna play Den Boss for the women, which uh I think in Yupe's opinion, and to be honest, most people's opinion, that would be the the the most likely the kind of quarterfinal that is a final.
- 39:29SPEAKER_02: But I think even though they haven't had the the the run-in on Den Boss um or the success, when you still have the world's best player, I think you have a chance.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: I think the way that that she can break through lines, carry the ball, is just you know, for anyone who doesn't know hockey incredibly well, you just want to make sure that you watch her play um because she plays the the way uh you know very aesthetically pleasing.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: So yeah, she's my choice.
- 39:56SPEAKER_05: Nice.
- 39:57SPEAKER_05: Um I know my bit of fire.
- 40:01SPEAKER_05: I've got a combination of I've got a combination of two from the English from the OGs at the lair.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: It's the second time you choose two players, Brendan.
- 40:10SPEAKER_05: Yeah, because both of them have got the opportunity and both of them got it in them to snap.
- 40:15SPEAKER_05: Um, I've gone for number 14 and number 15 from old Georgians.
- 40:21SPEAKER_05: James Aubrey, Phil Roper.
- 40:23SPEAKER_05: I think they've both got it in them to give a lot of shit out, and they don't have much capacity to take shit.
- 40:31SPEAKER_05: So I think there's um there's an opportunity, especially with umpires.
- 40:35SPEAKER_05: I can't wait for a Roper Death stare.
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: I haven't seen that on this on the screen for a while, and I reckon the thought of even Sam Ward being touched is already getting James Aubrey riled up and ready to run at the umpire because I've seen that so much over the years.
- 40:49SPEAKER_05: I'm excited to see that once again grace the screens.
- 40:53SPEAKER_05: So there, my two.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: I don't think it's I don't think it's a bad pick, a double pick.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: I think from my EHL um history is probably when I've been my most angry uh and and my worst with Deathstairs and shouting at umpires.
- 41:14SPEAKER_02: Um I actually had one in Eindhoven a few years ago where I got many messages afterwards because I ran past a microphone place for playing for Wimbledon in the EHL shouting, are you fucking high to the umpire?
- 41:25SPEAKER_02: Which didn't go down particularly well.
- 41:27SPEAKER_02: Um would again say would would stress my points from a couple of weeks ago when I said that people can change.
- 41:35SPEAKER_02: People know I'm naturally more zen now, which I'm sure you're gonna see.
- 41:39SPEAKER_02: Now I think with Aubrey, um, yeah, you've got a great chance of seeing that fight.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: You've got a great chance he plays on the edge.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: He's again a huge guy for us in our team and uh someone that you kind of want on the edge.
- 41:53SPEAKER_02: So don't mind either of them.
- 41:55SPEAKER_05: All I'll say, Phil, and as another rebuttal to your argument, is volcanoes can stay dormant, but only for so long.
- 42:04SPEAKER_05: It's a matter of time and pressure.
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: That's all that's needed.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: That's can that be the quote of the episode?
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: Volcanoes can stay.
- 42:21SPEAKER_02: I don't know where to go with that.
- 42:22SPEAKER_05: What you got?
- 42:25SPEAKER_02: I have no clue what I have left.
- 42:28SPEAKER_02: You haven't you haven't done an under the oh you have done under the radar, you haven't done superstar superstar.
- 42:38SPEAKER_01: Um I just had one, but I forgot superstar.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: Yep, I'm going for uh a man who hasn't played hockey a lot in the last um year, ever since he's won Olympic gold.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm going for Jonas de Geus.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: He's been out of it quite a while.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: I think he's the the the the engine of uh kampong.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Uh he's not a thousand percent fit, I think, but like I would take a Jonas de Geus at 80% uh over uh almost any midfielder uh there is.
- 43:18SPEAKER_01: So um yeah, I'm taking him.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: I think he's very yeah, he scored.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: Um he's just yeah, he's just a really, really good good uh player, and I like him so completely uh completely biased, but um, yeah, who gives a shit?
- 43:35SPEAKER_01: I'm taking him.
- 43:36SPEAKER_03: I'm like all your options a bit biased.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Hey no, you pack actually went he went all all he he went over to Belgium for a for a brief stint.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: So you know he chose one player.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: Um I think I've only got under the radar left.
- 43:56SPEAKER_02: I don't know how under the radar this is, but I'm gonna also gonna shamelessly.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Plugger plug a good guy and a guy that I played with in um for Soma in India with and that is um Poncey Ponsile for Leopold.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: I don't know how under the radar he is, but I don't think he gets anywhere near the credit that he deserves.
- 44:16SPEAKER_02: He is an insanely talented player with a gift of looking like he's got way more time than he has.
- 44:25SPEAKER_02: So I think for anyone again watching that first first round draw, Leopold versus Gantois, he's 100% one to watch, and someone that I will be following closely.
- 44:34SPEAKER_02: He's uh he's uh an insanely good player, got a bit of everything.
- 44:38SPEAKER_02: Also, another fellow loves the right hand side of the pitch.
- 44:41SPEAKER_02: Like to see a Ponselet Demol right hand side of the pitch, it'd be it'd be a great, great combinations.
- 44:48SPEAKER_05: The world's strongest right side.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: I think I uh don't get me wrong, I like Ponsolet.
- 44:57SPEAKER_01: I think you're being a little um um uh like insane, insanely, insanely talented and insanely good.
- 45:05SPEAKER_01: Insane is like very like okay, isn't that a bit uh much, uh Philip?
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you couldn't you could I I reckon I could have used better adjectives.
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: If Ponselet is insanely good, like what what should we say about uh Atu Vandora?
- 45:24SPEAKER_05: He's not he's not in the competition yup.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: I know, but insanely good is like I'll hey hey, I'll take your feedback.
- 45:31SPEAKER_02: I appreciate your feedback.
- 45:33SPEAKER_02: I'll use better adjectives, I'll be more careful with my words.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 45:37SPEAKER_05: Less use of less use of that, Phil.
- 45:39SPEAKER_05: Less use of insane.
- 45:40SPEAKER_05: Come on, be more interesting.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sorry, let's not let's not bring up the interesting again.
- 45:45SPEAKER_05: I've tried so hard now in every conversation to not use it, and it's horrible.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Um, before we move on, do you think there's any anyone we've we've really missed that we should talk about?
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: I think out of them teams.
- 45:59SPEAKER_01: Um I don't yeah, I think we I think we missed a lot of players, but I don't want to talk about them.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: Is that does that make sense?
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we can name we can name Alexander Hendricks and Yibi Yonsa and uh Wallace and Jorat Kron or whatever, but I think there's yeah, everyone knows they they they they have to watch those guys so and girls.
- 46:19SPEAKER_02: So yeah, definitely ready to move on.
- 46:26SPEAKER_02: Well, again, this was our EHL preview.
- 46:31SPEAKER_02: And last last I guess last thing on it is that um you have to choose the two teams that are gonna win.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: So your predictions go on here and they get published.
- 46:40SPEAKER_02: Brendan, choose choose your two, women and men.
- 46:45SPEAKER_05: Um in the women's it's hard to look past.
- 46:51SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go Styxie, you know, one extra game.
- 46:54SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go SCHC for the women.
- 46:57SPEAKER_05: And for the men, I'm gonna go.
- 47:02SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go Gantois.
- 47:05SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna mix it up.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say something very controversial, and I think Gentwas will win the double.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: We'll win both great choice.
- 47:19SPEAKER_02: That's an original pick well, don't you?
- 47:22SPEAKER_02: Thank you for taking my question seriously.
- 47:27SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: Are you ready to your options, Phil?
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: Who are my options, I think.
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Well go so yeah, I am.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: I'm arm he's got me with that one.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: Everything's just a joke to him.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: You can't have a serious conversation with him.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: Okay, Philip.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: Unless we talk about the unless we talk about the masters, then you can get him going.
- 47:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, you got me.
- 48:00SPEAKER_03: Not yet.
- 48:01SPEAKER_03: Not yet.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: No, right, let's move it on.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: Let's go into hold on.
- 48:09SPEAKER_05: Am I the only one that's given actual suggestions?
- 48:12SPEAKER_05: What is this?
- 48:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll be serious.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: I think I think at the men's side, I do think Gantois are gonna win, and I think at the women's side, it's going to be uh then boss.
- 48:26SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll go with women, then boss, and men old Georgians.
- 48:32SPEAKER_02: Okay, you heard it here first.
- 48:35SPEAKER_01: You're gonna look like such a knob after you lose 5-1 to Rotterdam, but okay.
- 48:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but who cares?
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: Then at least I can look back and be like, Well, I backed it.
- 48:44SPEAKER_02: You think you're gonna come in top four, mate?
- 48:46SPEAKER_02: What are we doing?
- 48:53SPEAKER_03: It's so oh nibble nibble nibble.
- 48:58SPEAKER_02: Philip.
- 48:59SPEAKER_02: I don't know where we're going from here.
- 49:00SPEAKER_02: Can we go into the coop?
- 49:02SPEAKER_02: Is there any coop or not?
- 49:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I actually have a coop.
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Um, I spent the afternoon thinking of or looking up facts about the EHL, facts about us in the EHL.
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: No, I'm kidding.
- 49:18SPEAKER_01: Uh Ramon Min, uh, a guy who does all the stats um for Oranio Hockey and who lives on stats.
- 49:25SPEAKER_01: Um sent me a send me a text and said um uh would it be fun if I send you guys guys some uh facts about uh noop in the EHL, Phil in the EHL, Brandon EHL, and some like top like fun facts about the EHL.
- 49:40SPEAKER_01: Uh I said no, but he still sent them.
- 49:42SPEAKER_01: Um no.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: So I said that would be very welcome.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: So I have a couple questions for you guys.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Um and uh I'm curious about your EHL knowledge.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: So it's a little EHL quiz.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: Ready?
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, how many goals did you mole score in the EHL?
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 50:10SPEAKER_02: So you played back in the day when OR were good and they used to smash teams like 8-0 in the semi-final, yeah.
- 50:20SPEAKER_01: Fair.
- 50:21SPEAKER_02: Did anyone ever trust him to do a backhand deflection?
- 50:26SPEAKER_05: Or a back to injector?
- 50:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: That's what that meant.
- 50:30SPEAKER_05: Three.
- 50:31SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna go three goals.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna play it safe and go one.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: I scored one goal against Wimbledon in the semifinal field goal against Philip.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: It was an ever so important 6-0.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: I was running through, hit a ball in front of the goal, and the defender tapped it in, but it own goals didn't come, so it wasn't the name of you the ball.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Amazing goal.
- 50:59SPEAKER_01: Um how many goals has Phil Roper scored in his EHL career?
- 51:17SPEAKER_01: This is this is the part where you guys can guess and give an answer.
- 51:20SPEAKER_02: Five.
- 51:22SPEAKER_02: Um gonna go six.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: Wow, Philip, it's six.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: You actually scored six goals in 11 games, uh, and you have a uh a win uh loss.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: Uh um you you won four out of your 11 games, you drew two and you lost five.
- 51:46SPEAKER_01: So you're you're like the definition of average in the EHL, where you win as much as you lose and draw a couple.
- 51:53SPEAKER_01: I no one asked for this information.
- 51:56SPEAKER_01: F1 uh eight in regular time, one and lost one, uh, which adds up to ten.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: I have no clue where the other games are.
- 52:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, I drew three, I see now.
- 52:12SPEAKER_03: How many goals has Brandon scored in the EHL?
- 52:18SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna go with none.
- 52:22SPEAKER_03: One against Bosch, the Scottish team.
- 52:27SPEAKER_03: I scored against Grange.
- 52:31SPEAKER_05: Or I scored against Grange, or as yoobes called him, Grunge.
- 52:39SPEAKER_01: I actually have a really good story about this.
- 52:42SPEAKER_01: We actually had to play Grange.
- 52:45SPEAKER_01: No one had a clue with uh with Oray Road in the in Barcelona.
- 52:49SPEAKER_01: We played like a qualifier, uh, and uh we we had no clue who this team was, we didn't even know anywhere from Scotland, and then we had to watch video because our coach wanted to take it seriously.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: We had to watch video, we watched video of a of a of a of a of um a cop game, like uh like a the Scottish Cup or whatever for from five years before none of the players we were analyzing, yeah.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: The guy with the yellow stick as a good ball through.
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: No one was playing with the yellow stick, so we were completely lost, but one like 8-0 or whatever.
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: But it was a really, really funny.
- 53:29SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, you probably have to be there, but I thought it was really funny.
- 53:32SPEAKER_01: Brent Brent, when did you score?
- 53:34SPEAKER_05: Uh 2016, first round.
- 53:39SPEAKER_05: 15 range at home.
- 53:41SPEAKER_05: Was that 15?
- 53:42SPEAKER_05: Was that Harvest Hooder?
- 53:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, well done.
- 53:45SPEAKER_05: Going wide, and the goalkeeper put it in.
- 53:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 53:52SPEAKER_01: Um who is the top scorer of the EHL of all time with the men's side?
- 53:58SPEAKER_04: Herzberger.
- 54:01SPEAKER_04: How many goals?
- 54:03SPEAKER_04: 35.
- 54:04SPEAKER_04: Fuck it.
- 54:05SPEAKER_02: 37.
- 54:07SPEAKER_04: 47.
- 54:08SPEAKER_02: Fuck it, that was a lot.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: Interestingly, who is number two?
- 54:12SPEAKER_04: Tombone.
- 54:13SPEAKER_04: Milcow.
- 54:14SPEAKER_04: Wow, Brendan.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: It's Milkow with 35.
- 54:18SPEAKER_01: Tombone is third with 33.
- 54:21SPEAKER_01: Number four is Payot with 29.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: Who's number five, Brendan?
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Fuchs.
- 54:33SPEAKER_05: No, but good shout.
- 54:35SPEAKER_05: I've got two two guesses.
- 54:36SPEAKER_05: Christopher Zeller.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: No.
- 54:38SPEAKER_05: Or Mink van der Veden.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: No.
- 54:41SPEAKER_05: Oh, who's this?
- 54:42SPEAKER_04: Who's who is number five?
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Ash?
- 54:44SPEAKER_04: Austrian, Austrian legends.
- 54:46SPEAKER_04: Michael Corper.
- 54:48SPEAKER_04: Fuck.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: Who's the top scorer at the women's EHL?
- 54:53SPEAKER_05: Oh shit, that's not me.
- 54:55SPEAKER_05: Matler?
- 54:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Matler.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: Jesus, Brent.
- 54:58SPEAKER_05: It's only been going for like two years, Phil.
- 55:01SPEAKER_05: It's quite easy to guess that one.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: And now who is the highest loaded English player in the top scorers list?
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: He scored 19 goals.
- 55:17SPEAKER_05: I've got two two guesses, but I'll let Phil go first.
- 55:22SPEAKER_02: No, go on, take one of them.
- 55:24SPEAKER_05: Who are you going for?
- 55:28SPEAKER_05: Uh I'll go, I'll go the one that's a bit more abstract that I think might might nick it.
- 55:33SPEAKER_05: Uh Cymantell.
- 55:39SPEAKER_01: No, it's Richard Mantel.
- 55:41SPEAKER_01: Oh he scored all of his goals for Reading.
- 55:45SPEAKER_01: He scored 19.
- 55:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, corners.
- 55:51SPEAKER_01: Is Reading in England?
- 55:52SPEAKER_01: No, eh?
- 55:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yes.
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: It is.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 55:57SPEAKER_01: I think Sam Ward actually has the potential of beating him.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: He has 18.
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: He scored for Beeston, Holcomb, and Or George Jeans.
- 56:05SPEAKER_01: He's also kind of a club slot, huh?
- 56:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, big one.
- 56:09SPEAKER_02: He's with me.
- 56:24SPEAKER_03: 23-nil.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: 19-nil.
- 56:28SPEAKER_03: 19-2.
- 56:30SPEAKER_03: Amsterdam first.
- 56:31SPEAKER_05: It was Amsterdam in Harvest in Hamburg.
- 56:33SPEAKER_05: It was Amsterdam, wasn't it?
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: It's Amsterdam versus Homo Zanin Toolun from Poland.
- 56:40unknown: Fuck.
- 56:41SPEAKER_01: Leisure scored four.
- 56:42SPEAKER_01: Bain scored four.
- 56:43SPEAKER_01: It was actually.
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: And the biggest win in the is Denbos versus Pegasus, an Irish team.
- 56:51SPEAKER_04: 8-0.
- 56:52SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 56:53SPEAKER_01: 9-0.
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: Oh Brennan you're actually on fire.
- 56:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're actually on fire, Brendan.
- 57:00SPEAKER_01: I'm just a loser.
- 57:02SPEAKER_01: There have been 15 out of the 16 EHL uh editions in which uh one Dutch team was in the final.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: So out of the 16 EHL uh 15 teams, a Dutch team was in the final.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: Only in 2019 it wasn't the case.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: Can you name which two teams were in the final where it wasn't a Dutch team who was there?
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: What what ducks?
- 57:23SPEAKER_01: As a tip, it was at Orange Road.
- 57:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was Watt Ducks against who was it?
- 57:29SPEAKER_02: Was it no not Rot Vice?
- 57:31SPEAKER_04: Was it Rot Vice?
- 57:33SPEAKER_04: The Germans! The Rotweiss.
- 57:37SPEAKER_04: Fucking hell.
- 57:40SPEAKER_05: That was the year that they fucked up the sound on the shootouts and they fucked us.
- 57:43SPEAKER_05: Serberton versus Watt Ducks.
- 57:46SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: Um dick.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: Only nine team have uh nine teams have uh ever won the EHL.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Like nine different clubs.
- 57:59SPEAKER_01: Blumenaus won six.
- 58:01SPEAKER_01: Let's say Humboldt has three.
- 58:03SPEAKER_01: Uh Oiswacht won, Brambling, HGC, Pinoquet.
- 58:08SPEAKER_01: Did an English team ever win EHL?
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: No.
- 58:12SPEAKER_02: I think yeah, Redding won it before it was the EHL.
- 58:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 58:16SPEAKER_05: There's only one Englishman to have won the EHL.
- 58:22SPEAKER_05: And there's one Welshman.
- 58:26SPEAKER_05: Draper.
- 58:27SPEAKER_05: Draper and an Englishman called Richard Orson Smith.
- 58:29SPEAKER_05: They're the only two English and British players to have won the EHL.
- 58:35SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 58:36SPEAKER_01: Congrats on both of you.
- 58:40SPEAKER_05: That's awesome.
- 58:43SPEAKER_05: Why do you laugh?
- 58:44SPEAKER_05: It's like oh poor people.
- 58:50SPEAKER_01: I tried really hard to make it sincere.
- 58:54SPEAKER_02: No, no, but you just come across as an arsehole.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but your voice, your voice really didn't didn't didn't do that at all.
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: I genuinely tried.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: I love Draper.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: I think he's a really funny guy.
- 59:05SPEAKER_01: And and he's a really good guy, but like um wait, he listens to the pot, right?
- 59:13SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: Not sure.
- 59:14SPEAKER_01: He said it fucker said he would he would text me back.
- 59:18SPEAKER_01: He never texted me, idiot.
- 59:19SPEAKER_05: Oh yeah, you you're never gonna get a response.
- 59:22SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 59:23SPEAKER_02: Wouldn't worry about it.
- 59:24SPEAKER_02: He doesn't text anyone.
- 59:26SPEAKER_01: I'm not worried, but that I've now come to realization.
- 59:29SPEAKER_01: He said, Yeah, yeah, I'll text you.
- 59:30SPEAKER_01: I said, Oh, okay, nice.
- 59:31SPEAKER_01: Someone's texting me.
- 59:32SPEAKER_01: Let's see, actually.
- 59:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Drapes, if you're listening, can you text me back as well?
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, why are it send random like uh uh uh uh uh something as well because it's not are you stalling because you've got no more EHL questions?
- 59:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I had a couple, but uh it it sounded more fun.
- 59:52SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, like it's tough to make up questions out of just facts.
- 59:56SPEAKER_01: Well, it actually isn't, but I'm kind of done with doing it to be honest.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, before we wrap up, I think maybe just I guess maybe just finish with what's what's your favorite EHL memory?
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_02: Either you're in it or you're um watching it on TV or online when you were younger.
- 1:00:15SPEAKER_01: Mine?
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_01: Um mine is uh it's pretty easy.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: It's the uh final um well I to be honest, I was mostly watching it.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: Uh I wasn't the team, but was mostly watching it, didn't really play a lot.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_01: Played two minutes um against UATse Hamburg with Orahi Swad, uh, where we had a shootout which lasted, I think, uh 45 minutes.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_01: Um players of us, including our coach Michel van der Heuvel, were yelling to I don't know where, but we're yelling uh EHL mafia, EHL mafia, like the mafia means uh mob in uh in Dutch.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: Um because that there were like videos, and we thought the videos were ridiculous or whatever, but it took us like uh Bob the Vogue to take three shootouts, um, which like we won it, then they asked the video, they won it, we asked the video, then we won it again, and like it was a very um chaotic final, but we won it, and it was like uh it my whole club career went downhill from there.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: But it was my first year at the highest level, won the league, won the EHL.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_01: Thought hockey at the highest level is pretty simple.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_01: Um boy have I found out that it isn't so uh I think uh that's it.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_01: And that's actually winning and winning 8-0 against Philip uh in the semi-final of EHL is also a core memory, which I will carry with me the rest of my life.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_02: That is weird that you say that because I actually my favorite watching um was was that game that you just said about because I remember sat at home watching that game, and it was like the most insane shootouts, and shootouts hadn't been going that long, and you're watching them being like, This is absolutely mental, and no one really knew how to, you know, there wasn't like the the tactics or the video or the history of shootouts, so everyone was just going in and kind of all guns blazing, keepers were flying out, there was like dribbling round them.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_02: There was none of the like you know, now just did something, I had a feeling.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_01: No one really like no one had like the magic formula of like going with your bum into the goalie or like like had a had a tactic or whatever.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_01: So yeah, they just ran at each other in the goalie, sometimes went for like a one all or nothing move.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_01: It made some great television.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was good.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_01: Bring that back.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_01: Um, by the way, also one more favorite moment is when Robert van der Host had the ball in the corner of the field at his own uh corner and put it through his own legs on Philip's uh foot.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_02: That wasn't me.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_01: That wasn't me for the for the story.
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say it was you.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_01: It was Philip with Wimbledon.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: He got humiliated.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_01: Ha ha, Philip.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_05: Um before I got into my playing one, Brennan.
- 1:02:58SPEAKER_05: Uh mine would have been EHL 2016 in 2017 in Amsterdam when we beat Yube.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_05: 4-1 down to draw four all and then went on shootouts.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: Well, I did that five.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_05: But my my core memory from that was the game before when you boys play when OR played against um Leopold and Robert Vanderhoor scored the most outrageous goal of just literally just ran through the whole team and then just flicked it top corner.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that was like that's like a core memory that sticks out in my brain.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_05: Or like the other one is Rotterdam playing again uh when Martin Knowles was there and he scores that absolute worldly that did the rounds.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_02: They're definitely two of the best EHL goals that you've just talked about.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, if anyone doesn't know about them, look them up on YouTube because they're they're fantastic.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_02: What's yours, folks?
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_02: Um, probably EHL 2017 when we were in the last 16.
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_02: Um, no one thought anything of us.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_02: We were like a lonely little Wimbledon team that no one had heard of, and we played UHC Hamburg in the first round with like Mo Furster at the helm, and we did an absolute job on them.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_02: I scored a horrendous back stick reverse stick.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_02: Um we they then took their goalie off with 2-1.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_02: Mo Firster did like the it was when the rule was that if you had a bib on uh as the is as the uh outfield goalie, you could slide tackle.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_02: He did a full slide tackle in his own D, and then uh and then and then I managed to tap one into an open goal after that to win 3-1 against UHC Hamburg was pretty pretty special.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_02: But I guess uh this has been like kind of an informative EHL podcast.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_02: So congratulations to both of you.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_02: We we did we did something, and to you, Philip.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: Congrats to you as well.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_02: And we're celebrating you know 100,000 downloads, so you know we had to probably put a bit of effort in for this one.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_02: So we did hope you guys do a million.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_02: Um that is episode four of Let's Dick Together.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_02: Brendan's got his glasses the wrong way around.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_02: We've had a bit of a shocker because the meeting just ended and we're still on very professional Zoom terms.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_02: You look like he's working.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_02: Brendan's lost his mind.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_02: This has been Let's Dick Together.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_02: We'll see you next time.
