- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Telugu with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 80. That feels like a big number. Lucas: It does. And you know what? We've covered so many everyday situations — greetings, shopping, directions. But one thing we haven't talked about yet is what to say when you're not feeling well. Luna: Oh, that's such a good point. I had a cold last week, and I realized I didn't know how to say it in Telugu. Lucas: Then this episode is for you. Today we're learning phrases for illness — specifically cold and fever. Luna: Good. Let's start with the most basic one. How do I say 'I have a cold'? Lucas: In Telugu, you say: నాకు జలుబు చేసింది. Luna: నాకు జలుబు చేసింది. Lucas: Good. నాకు means 'to me', జలుబు means 'cold', చేసింది means 'has happened' or 'has been done'. So literally 'I have a cold'. Luna: నాకు జలుబు చేసింది. I'll practice that. What if I have a fever? Lucas: You say: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. That's fever, right? జ్వరం. Lucas: Exactly. వచ్చింది means 'has come'. So 'fever has come to me'. Luna: Right. So if I'm at the pharmacy, I can say: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. Lucas: Perfect. And then you might need to say 'I need medicine'. That's: నాకు మందు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు మందు కావాలి. మందు is medicine from our pharmacy episode. Lucas: Right. And if it's more serious, you might say 'I need a doctor': నాకు డాక్టర్ కావాలి. Luna: నాకు డాక్టర్ కావాలి. That's straightforward. Lucas: And a general phrase: 'I am sick' — నేను అనారోగ్యంగా ఉన్నాను. Luna: Wow, that's a long one. నేను అనారోగ్యంగా ఉన్నాను. Lucas: Break it down: నేను is 'I', అనారోగ్యంగా means 'sick' or 'ill', ఉన్నాను means 'am'. Luna: So 'I am sick'. Got it. Let me try all of them in a row. నాకు జలుబు చేసింది. నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. నాకు మందు కావాలి. నాకు డాక్టర్ కావాలి. నేను అనారోగ్యంగా ఉన్నాను. Lucas: That was excellent, Luna. Really good. Luna: Thanks. So let's imagine a scenario. I'm at home, I feel terrible. I call my friend and say... Lucas: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. నాకు మందు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. నాకు మందు కావాలి. Lucas: And your friend says, 'I'll bring you medicine.' Then you can say ధన్యవాదాలు. Luna: That would be so helpful. You know, if you find these phrases useful, please consider supporting us. Luna: నాకు జ్వరం వచ్చింది. Lucas: I need medicine. Luna: నాకు మందు కావాలి. Lucas: I need a doctor. Luna: నాకు డాక్టర్ కావాలి. Lucas: I am sick. Luna: నేను అనారోగ్యంగా ఉన్నాను. Lucas: Perfect.
