- 1:50Speaker 4: we're also going to talk about our Pet of the

- 2:03Speaker 4: is happening tomorrow and Steve Animal, my frequent tag team partner,
- 2:06Speaker 4: and I will be over there for that tomorrow. So
- 2:08Speaker 4: we're looking forward to that. But we got serious news
- 2:10Speaker 4: we got to get to for a moment, the shooting
- 2:12Speaker 4: at the hospital. We've been reporting it all morning. There's
- 2:15Speaker 4: going to be a press event held at ten this morning.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Jeff Jenkins joined us from the newsroom. Now, Jeff, good morning.
- 2:20Speaker 6: Hey, good morning. Yes, So about one this morning, a
- 2:24Speaker 6: call came in to Knaw County Metro nine one one,
- 2:27Speaker 6: there's a disturbance in the er at CMC General here
- 2:32Speaker 6: in downtown Charleston, and so police were called and police
- 2:39Speaker 6: fired on the person and it was a fatal shooting.
- 2:43Speaker 6: It was an officer involved shooting. No police officers were injured.
- 2:46Speaker 6: CMC put out a release. After they put out a statement,
- 2:49Speaker 6: they said just a few things, and that they said
- 2:52Speaker 6: that in the emergency room they experienced a patient who
- 2:56Speaker 6: had become violent in the waiting area and so then
- 2:59Speaker 6: they called police and we know what happened with police.
- 3:04Speaker 6: Police confirmed that there was an officer involved shooting and
- 3:06Speaker 6: a person was killed. The emergency room is put on
- 3:09Speaker 6: lockdown for a couple of hours. They're back operating now,
- 3:12Speaker 6: and we'll hear more information from city police. Chief Dempsey
- 3:16Speaker 6: is going to give a statement at this ten o'clock
- 3:18Speaker 6: news conference downtown that will staff will be at. We'll
- 3:20Speaker 6: find out more information about you maybe what caused this,
- 3:24Speaker 6: you know, where the shooting took place. Was it, you know,
- 3:27Speaker 6: in another part of the emergency department, you know, maybe
- 3:30Speaker 6: some more details about that and who this person was
- 3:33Speaker 6: and what the situation was.
- 3:34Speaker 4: So that's kind of basically all.
- 3:35Speaker 2: We know.
- 3:37Speaker 6: No other injuries other than the person that was causing
- 3:41Speaker 6: the disturbance, and so we'll find out more.
- 3:44Speaker 4: All right, Jeff, I appreciate it, man, thanks a lot.
- 3:46Speaker 4: All right, and again that press event is going to
- 3:48Speaker 4: be at ten o'clock. We will be stapping that. They'll
- 3:50Speaker 4: have more coming up on Metro News talk Line with TJ.
- 3:53Speaker 4: Meadows and Dave Wilson at ten o'clock, and of course
- 3:55Speaker 4: Amanda and I will have more on it at noon
- 3:58Speaker 4: today on Metro News mid Day. All right, let's get
- 4:01Speaker 4: into a little lighter news. It is Friday, which means
- 4:03Speaker 4: we introduce you, as always to our Adopt Me Please
- 4:06Speaker 4: pet of the Week, and let's bring an Angie Gillenwater
- 4:09Speaker 4: from the Knell Trosty Main Association. Angie, good morning to you.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Good morning, It's finally Friday.
- 4:15Speaker 4: It is, it is indeed, and we have in studio
- 4:18Speaker 4: with us your good friend Amanda Pollard. Good morning, Amanda morning,
- 4:23Speaker 4: and also no one's good friend Steve Animal is here
- 4:26Speaker 4: from ninety eight to seven a mountain because we're going
- 4:28Speaker 4: to be taking part in Kegs for Canines tomorrow. Now
- 4:31Speaker 4: we're gonna do this a little bit differently today, Angie,
- 4:33Speaker 4: because Amanda has got to get upstairs to do an
- 4:35Speaker 4: interview with Steve. So we're gonna start by talking for
- 4:38Speaker 4: Kex for Caneines and you can weigh in as well,
- 4:40Speaker 4: and then we'll get to the adopt me please Pet
- 4:42Speaker 4: of the Week. That sound all right with you, Angie,
- 4:43Speaker 4: that sounds perfect.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I love hearing Amanda.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Talk, and no one loves hearing Steve Animals week indeed,
- 4:53Speaker 4: and a rabid pet of the week. All right, So
- 4:55Speaker 4: talk about KEX for Caine, I, Amanda and ANGI you
- 4:57Speaker 4: could jump in at any time.
- 4:59Speaker 7: So Keg's or Caine is happening tomorrow, August ninth at
- 5:02Speaker 7: the Red Carpet. We've got a great afternoon plan. It's
- 5:06Speaker 7: a super laid back beer festival. We've got live entertainment
- 5:10Speaker 7: from Peddler's Glory and Hot Jazz of Charleston. We'll have
- 5:13Speaker 7: some vendor tents set up, and most importantly, we will
- 5:17Speaker 7: have some adorable adoptable pups there. And thanks to our
- 5:21Speaker 7: presenting sponsor, Dutch Miller Super of Charleston, all adoptions at
- 5:25Speaker 7: the event are fully sponsored. So if you've been looking
- 5:29Speaker 7: to add a new furry friend to your family, tomorrow
- 5:32Speaker 7: is a great time to do it.
- 5:33Speaker 4: That would be the great time to do it an animal.
- 5:35Speaker 4: You and I are going to be over there tomorrow. We
- 5:36Speaker 4: will as always hoping to get adopted. Yeah, please please.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Last year, I have to say that was my first
- 5:43Speaker 4: year I've ever been over at Keketra Can and it
- 5:45Speaker 4: really is a first church time I've ever been there.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It is.
- 5:48Speaker 4: It was a fantastic event.
- 5:49Speaker 7: Thank you. Yeah, we you know, really just enjoy bringing
- 5:53Speaker 7: the community together, Folks that have dogs, folks that love dogs,
- 5:58Speaker 7: just to come out and support Kseyha's saving mission. It's
- 6:01Speaker 7: it's just a great day. And it should be beautiful
- 6:04Speaker 7: weather tomorrow, which makes it even better.
- 6:06Speaker 4: And of course, as I said, you're gonna have you
- 6:08Speaker 4: as you said, you're gonna have animals available for adoption
- 6:11Speaker 4: over there as well. We actually witness our our good
- 6:14Speaker 4: friend Mark last year adopting an animal there and taking
- 6:19Speaker 4: Miller ride home.
- 6:20Speaker 7: Miller home. So tomorrow's kind of his gotcha day for
- 6:24Speaker 7: Mark and he'll be there tomorrow afternoon hopefully with Miller.
- 6:29Speaker 8: Yeah, that'll be awesome. And like my last three dogs
- 6:31Speaker 8: have all come from the shelter. We have rescued the
- 6:34Speaker 8: senior dogs Cleo Wavo and Jug Jugs a terror, but
- 6:40Speaker 8: he's a good dog. And there's a lot of good
- 6:43Speaker 8: dogs that need a home.
- 6:44Speaker 4: So absolutely, yeah, you have any cats there, tours it
- 6:47Speaker 4: just dogs, just dogs tomorrow. Okay, those are two toys now,
- 6:51Speaker 4: easy now, all right, Amanda. I appreciate you stopping by,
- 6:55Speaker 4: uh and we'll see you there again. Give the folks
- 6:57Speaker 4: the details on it again, the time and so on
- 6:58Speaker 4: and so yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 7: So it's tomorrow, Saturday, August ninth, from four to seven
- 7:02Speaker 7: at the Red Carpet. Tickets are still available online or
- 7:06Speaker 7: you can always pick them up at the door.
- 7:08Speaker 4: They say seven but eight.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Yeah, seven is it's at the Red Carpet. So if
- 7:13Speaker 7: people want the party to continue.
- 7:15Speaker 4: They can hang out cold beer for cold noses. Yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 4: I mean what we did, dogs and beer. What more
- 7:20Speaker 4: could you want exactly? Amanda, very nice having you on
- 7:23Speaker 4: the show. Steve adequate as always. I appreciate you being here,
- 7:27Speaker 4: and Steve, you and I will be there hanging out
- 7:29Speaker 4: to its busy day for us tomorrow because we're also
- 7:31Speaker 4: going to be over to Tropes and Landing. Then we'll
- 7:33Speaker 4: be giving away a thousand bucks in cash and a
- 7:35Speaker 4: new motorcycle over there tomorrow. We'll talk to Sean during
- 7:37Speaker 4: the next round.
- 7:38Speaker 8: Your new motorcycle over to cakes to canines and hang
- 7:41Speaker 8: out with me PG the rest of the crew.
- 7:43Speaker 4: And then give that and then donate that thousand dollars
- 7:46Speaker 4: to the shelter.
- 7:47Speaker 3: There you go.
- 7:47Speaker 4: What about Steve? Two dollars and twenty one cents. I
- 7:51Speaker 4: want my two dollars, all right, Steve, get out of
- 7:53Speaker 4: my studio, all right, taking Amanda all right, they're going
- 7:56Speaker 4: to go upstairs to the Mountain Studios. Amanda, very nice
- 7:58Speaker 4: to meet you, Thank you for being here, and we'll
- 8:00Speaker 4: see you tomorrow. Thanks a lot, all right, Angel, Let's
- 8:03Speaker 4: get to our normal order of business. Our adopt me
- 8:05Speaker 4: please ped of the week, and there's always the pictures
- 8:07Speaker 4: posted Dave Alan Radio and Facebook and at Dave a
- 8:10Speaker 4: seventy on x tell us the story of Peanuts.
- 8:14Speaker 3: So Peanut actually came to our shelter as astray, and
- 8:18Speaker 3: boy is he the sweetest dog that has come through
- 8:21Speaker 3: those doors. He's super friendly with everyone he meets, dogs included.
- 8:26Speaker 3: He loves to play with other dogs, loves kids, and
- 8:30Speaker 3: like I said, he's not a stranger to anybody. He
- 8:33Speaker 3: has been friendly with everyone he's cross pats with at
- 8:36Speaker 3: the shelter.
- 8:37Speaker 4: He's a great looking dog and he's the I don't
- 8:40Speaker 4: know that I would call him the classic West Virginia
- 8:43Speaker 4: brown dog because he's definitely brown, But I don't know
- 8:46Speaker 4: if he's what I would what I would do. What
- 8:48Speaker 4: I would say is a West Virginia brown dog. But
- 8:50Speaker 4: he's brown and he's a dog.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he is a brown dog. He's got more
- 8:54Speaker 3: of that like rich chocolatey coloring to him, whereas the
- 8:59Speaker 3: West Virginia brown for me is more of like on
- 9:01Speaker 3: the Tannish side of things.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Yeah, we had a text here and I can't remember
- 9:07Speaker 4: did we pronounce the dog's name. Was it Wesley or Weasley?
- 9:10Speaker 4: Had that. We had a couple of weeks ago, Oh
- 9:12Speaker 4: Weasley and text I wanted to know if Weasley had
- 9:16Speaker 4: been adopted, and I think Weasley has I saw it
- 9:18Speaker 4: on your page. Is that right?
- 9:19Speaker 3: Yes, Weasley has been adopted. And if you want to
- 9:22Speaker 3: see a very very very very sweet video of him
- 9:26Speaker 3: leaving the shelter with his new adopter, it is on
- 9:28Speaker 3: our Facebook page and our TikTok, So definitely check that
- 9:32Speaker 3: out if you want a good cry today.
- 9:34Speaker 4: I was going to say, and now, how long had
- 9:35Speaker 4: how long had Weasley? How long was he there at
- 9:38Speaker 4: the shelter?
- 9:40Speaker 3: In just a couple of weeks, it would have been
- 9:42Speaker 3: a year. He was like half a month. Shy of
- 9:45Speaker 3: a year at the shelter, all right?
- 9:46Speaker 4: And that video is posted over on your guy's Facebook page.
- 9:52Speaker 4: But without crying, Angie described if people are driving right now,
- 9:55Speaker 4: they can't check their phones or their or their social
- 9:57Speaker 4: media describe the video.
- 10:00Speaker 3: So you'll see. Early that morning, me and our director
- 10:04Speaker 3: of veterinary care wrote every single animal that's in our
- 10:07Speaker 3: care right now. We wrote their name with chalk on
- 10:09Speaker 3: our sidewalk, which totals up to about four hundred and
- 10:12Speaker 3: some names. And you see Weasley and his adopter walk
- 10:16Speaker 3: past all those names, including his own and our staff,
- 10:21Speaker 3: which totals about to forty people. Have Laune made like
- 10:25Speaker 3: a little line for him, a little tunnel type situation
- 10:28Speaker 3: to walk through, and he is just you know, saying
- 10:31Speaker 3: goodbye to all of our staff. There are several people
- 10:34Speaker 3: that were his you know fa air quote favorite people
- 10:36Speaker 3: at the jukes there and he was, you know, running
- 10:39Speaker 3: up to them, giving them kisses and tail wags, and
- 10:42Speaker 3: then he jumps into the car and heads out of there.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I mean, it really is. It is a is a
- 10:48Speaker 4: touchy moment. And look, you guys deal with these animals
- 10:50Speaker 4: all the time, but you obviously get attached to them
- 10:53Speaker 4: because if you didn't, you wouldn't be doing what you're
- 10:55Speaker 4: doing up there. It's a special kind of person that
- 10:58Speaker 4: does what things like what you and Amanda and all
- 11:00Speaker 4: the others do up there. But when you see a
- 11:03Speaker 4: dog like that, even a cold hearted person like I am,
- 11:08Speaker 4: as I've been accused of being, it'll put a tear
- 11:12Speaker 4: in your eye when you see those situations when a
- 11:14Speaker 4: dog or a cat or whatever has been waiting so
- 11:17Speaker 4: long for their their forever home, as you say, and
- 11:19Speaker 4: they finally get sprung out the joint.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, absolutely, and especially in Weasley's case. I mean,
- 11:26Speaker 3: these dogs have been in our care for a year.
- 11:28Speaker 3: At that point, they feel like our personal pets. So
- 11:31Speaker 3: it's almost like we're saying goodbye to our personal pets
- 11:34Speaker 3: and sending them on with you know, someone else that
- 11:36Speaker 3: we know is going to take care of them and
- 11:38Speaker 3: love them just as much as we do. So that's
- 11:40Speaker 3: another emotional aspect of it.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It's nine eighteen. We're talking to Angie Gillen Water from
- 11:45Speaker 4: the Gnaal Charlestyumaine Association. But Dave Allen showing five any
- 11:48Speaker 4: line presented in part by Generations Physical Therapy nine practices
- 11:51Speaker 4: all off for an extended hour. So access to physical
- 11:54Speaker 4: therapy has never been easier. For your appointment three zero four, seven,
- 11:57Speaker 4: six zero fifty six sixty or visit Generations PT dot com.
- 12:02Speaker 4: What do you need of I mean we always so
- 12:04Speaker 4: there's always a lot of things that are on the
- 12:05Speaker 4: wish list of things that you need as far as
- 12:07Speaker 4: suppli as goes. What's the what's the top couple that
- 12:09Speaker 4: you're needing right now?
- 12:11Speaker 3: Uh So we are hurting for Purina chow products. So
- 12:15Speaker 3: purina dog chowcat chow as long as it's purina. And
- 12:20Speaker 3: cat toys are another thing we're running really low on.
- 12:23Speaker 3: And believe it or not, cardboard. So if you have
- 12:27Speaker 3: old Amazon boxes, if you have a little cardboard tray
- 12:31Speaker 3: that your canned goods come on, uh, those we use
- 12:35Speaker 3: as litter boxes and little Heidi boxes for our cats
- 12:38Speaker 3: to hide in, because if you are cat owner, you
- 12:41Speaker 3: know cat love a good cardboard bo oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So if you have any cardboard air quote litter trays
- 12:50Speaker 3: or cardboard boxes that we can use for our cats,
- 12:54Speaker 3: we would greatly appreciate those as well. And I will
- 12:56Speaker 3: say be mindful of the cardboard boxes that your donat
- 13:00Speaker 3: because certain sizes will fit into those kennels. If you
- 13:06Speaker 3: need a guest met and want to come look at
- 13:08Speaker 3: the kennels to you know, even if you donate cardboard
- 13:12Speaker 3: that's too big, we have a recycling area to take
- 13:14Speaker 3: care of that.
- 13:15Speaker 4: All right, Hey, Angie, I do I want to let
- 13:17Speaker 4: you know that I will not be here next week.
- 13:19Speaker 4: I'm taking a couple of days off, so I'm leaving
- 13:21Speaker 4: you in the capable hands of Dale Cooper next week.
- 13:24Speaker 4: So just so you know, I will not be here
- 13:25Speaker 4: next week.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Okay, well that sounded great. Enjoy your vacation.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Well, and I'm going to enjoy ketch for cane IDEs tomorrow.
- 13:31Speaker 4: So again, everything starts about four o'clock tomorrow over at
- 13:36Speaker 4: the Red Carpet Lounge. There's lots of food, there's music,
- 13:39Speaker 4: and the best thing about it is it is all
- 13:42Speaker 4: about the pets. And big shout outs to folks at
- 13:44Speaker 4: Dutch Miller's Super Roof for making it all possible. We'll
- 13:46Speaker 4: see you there tomorrow. Okay, sounds great, See then all right.
- 13:50Speaker 4: Angie Gillawater from the Gnal, Charles and Umane Association talking
- 13:53Speaker 4: about Peanuts, our adopt me please pet of the Week.
- 13:57Speaker 4: He's ten months old, great with others and kids, about
- 14:01Speaker 4: fifty pounds, not neutered yet, but he will be just
- 14:04Speaker 4: a fantastic dog. If you and your family are looking
- 14:06Speaker 4: for a wonderful pet, this would be the one. Loves
- 14:09Speaker 4: other dogs, love kids, ten months old, about fifty pounds
- 14:12Speaker 4: and again he's not neuted yet, but he will be.
- 14:14Speaker 4: You'll be getting a great dog. If you want to
- 14:15Speaker 4: see Peanuts picture, go over to my social media. It's

- 14:29Speaker 4: Of course, on a serious note, the big story we're
- 14:31Speaker 4: following this morning that shooting at the hospital here in Charleston.
- 14:35Speaker 4: The Charleston Police Department have a press conference schedule for
- 14:38Speaker 4: ten a m. This morning. Jeff Jenkins and the news
- 14:40Speaker 4: team will be staffing that and they'll have more on
- 14:43Speaker 4: that coming up throughout the day. We'll be covering it
- 14:45Speaker 4: today on Metro News Midday and Wilson and Meadows. We'll
- 14:49Speaker 4: have immediate details available on talk line today and so
- 14:52Speaker 4: what we know at this point there was a disturbance
- 14:56Speaker 4: and police were called. It was an officer involved shot
- 15:00Speaker 4: voting officers were not injured, but the alleged suspect in
- 15:03Speaker 4: this was killed at the scene, and we've got information
- 15:06Speaker 4: available about already posted at wv metronews dot com. It's
- 15:09Speaker 4: the lead story this morning. The press event with the
- 15:11Speaker 4: Charleston Police Department and others is scheduled for ten and
- 15:15Speaker 4: we will be covering that. The nave Allan showing five

- 17:44Speaker 4: a good friend from trojan Land. He stopping by the
- 17:46Speaker 4: studio this morning. How are you certain? Good morning, sir,
- 17:48Speaker 4: I'm doing well. Are we ready to give away a
- 17:51Speaker 4: motorcycle tomorrow? I'm I'm ready. I'm ready.
- 17:53Speaker 11: I know there's a lot of exciting customers and out
- 17:56Speaker 11: there and people participating and stopping in it nearly every
- 18:00Speaker 11: location to put in their names.
- 18:02Speaker 4: So yeah. So what we've been doing in the last
- 18:04Speaker 4: couple of months and this has been all of our
- 18:06Speaker 4: stations that have been taking part than this, uh we're
- 18:09Speaker 4: called it called it through d Ride to Riches game,
- 18:12Speaker 4: and we had registration boxes pretty much all over the
- 18:16Speaker 4: Kanawa Valley and we ask people, you know, to register
- 18:19Speaker 4: to win this bike. Tell us about the bike we're
- 18:20Speaker 4: going to be given away tomorrow.
- 18:21Speaker 11: So it is the rural infield Himalayan four to fifty
- 18:24Speaker 11: So it's a four to fifty two liquid cold engine.
- 18:29Speaker 4: It's really the.
- 18:31Speaker 11: I mean really right now is where everything is at
- 18:33Speaker 11: financially across the country. It is one of the hottest
- 18:36Speaker 11: selling bikes that we have anywhere, because we have people
- 18:41Speaker 11: driving five, six, seven hours to pick these bikes up
- 18:43Speaker 11: even from us, let alone other dealers. It's a great
- 18:48Speaker 11: it's a great mixed road bike. Good for the highway,
- 18:51Speaker 11: good for the dirt road. Take it a little off road,
- 18:53Speaker 11: get a little mud.
- 18:56Speaker 4: And that's really that's for pols that aren't necessarily motorcycle people,
- 18:59Speaker 4: and I'm not, but I I could talk about it
- 19:01Speaker 4: a little bit. When you say mixed road, that's kind
- 19:04Speaker 4: of that's kind of a newer thing in the in
- 19:06Speaker 4: the in the world of bikes. Talk about it.
- 19:08Speaker 11: Well, it's well, it's it's pretty common. I mean for
- 19:11Speaker 11: the people that are into this type of biking.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I guess what I meant was the popularities take yeah, yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 4: popular is taken off.
- 19:17Speaker 11: You know, there's some other brands have had some legendary
- 19:20Speaker 11: bikes like the kl R and stuff from Kalasaki, but
- 19:24Speaker 11: they're heavy bikes, they're big bikes. The one thing about
- 19:27Speaker 11: this being a four fifty, the the bike away half
- 19:30Speaker 11: as much as some of the other brands. Uh, it's
- 19:33Speaker 11: really nimble, really like fun fun bike to john bike
- 19:36Speaker 11: to ride.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:37Speaker 11: So you know, whether you get on some a muddy trail,
- 19:42Speaker 11: a muddy like say a country road, you know, going
- 19:45Speaker 11: down a gravel road gets muddy, things like that, and
- 19:48Speaker 11: then turn around and hit the highway and it's got
- 19:50Speaker 11: highway speed. But the adventure style of biking is getting
- 19:54Speaker 11: more and more popular, and roll Infield in general is
- 19:59Speaker 11: just getting more popular because it's such a lighter weight
- 20:01Speaker 11: bike but a cool classic.
- 20:02Speaker 4: Look how long has that particular brand been around since
- 20:06Speaker 4: nineteen oh one? Okay, because I learned that when we
- 20:08Speaker 4: did an adventure place not long ago. Okay, I thought,
- 20:12Speaker 4: you know, because for years people to my generation you've
- 20:14Speaker 4: heard about the big one J Harley, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Aamaha,
- 20:17Speaker 4: you know all those and they're in are Indian and there.
- 20:19Speaker 4: But there's a couple more. But that was one that
- 20:21Speaker 4: I that I was I'd heard of it but I
- 20:23Speaker 4: wasn't very familiar with it. And you guys started carrying
- 20:26Speaker 4: those bikes when last November, Okay, that's when you started
- 20:29Speaker 4: the whole the whole power sports thing o there and adition,
- 20:31Speaker 4: I think they arrived in October. Yeah, in addition to
- 20:34Speaker 4: everything else that you're doing Trojan Land, and you added
- 20:36Speaker 4: those the bikes to the whole thing too, And I
- 20:39Speaker 4: mean it's really really taken off show.
- 20:41Speaker 11: Yeah, we've we've really surpassed where we thought we could
- 20:45Speaker 11: be at this point already. And it's and a lot
- 20:49Speaker 11: of it is the value that Rule Infield offers, and
- 20:52Speaker 11: you know, it is a history, historic brand, you know,
- 20:55Speaker 11: they and people are very brand loyal of people that
- 20:58Speaker 11: like those they are and there's more roll infield owners
- 21:00Speaker 11: in this state than I would have anticipated either too
- 21:03Speaker 11: when we open that up. But it's it's got this
- 21:07Speaker 11: seventies sixties style to it on some of the bikes
- 21:11Speaker 11: that are it is it just speaks to a lot
- 21:14Speaker 11: of people's childhoods. And it's half the way like we
- 21:18Speaker 11: we have several Harley's or I should say HD so
- 21:21Speaker 11: I don't call them out, but we've had several hds
- 21:24Speaker 11: traded into the store, and it's because people are downsizing,
- 21:29Speaker 11: getting out of those heavier bikes, just enjoying more local riding.
- 21:33Speaker 11: And it doesn't it has a style to it that
- 21:35Speaker 11: they grew up and they saw on their bikes back when.
- 21:38Speaker 4: They were kids. So it's a it's a cool brand
- 21:41Speaker 4: to Sean Hartman again a Trojan Landy to Dave Island
- 21:43Speaker 4: showing five eighty. Life is brought to you piped by
- 21:45Speaker 4: Hustin's Pizza or this month you can pick yourself up
- 21:48Speaker 4: a large eighteen inch pepperoni pizza and a big eight
- 21:50Speaker 4: inch chocolate chip cookie twenty three ninety nine dined in
- 21:53Speaker 4: carry out or order delivery by finding your closest Huston's
- 21:55Speaker 4: Hustins Pizza dot com. What's the value on that bike,
- 21:58Speaker 4: Shanna pro six thousand. Yeah, so that's so that and
- 22:02Speaker 4: we've got a thousand bucks in cash that you can
- 22:05Speaker 4: use for whatever. So the way this is going to
- 22:07Speaker 4: work is, as I said, over the last couple of months,
- 22:09Speaker 4: we've been registering people like twenty twenty five locations throughout
- 22:12Speaker 4: the Kanawha Valley and Tracy out Front has done the
- 22:15Speaker 4: work of calling these people and you know, reaching out
- 22:19Speaker 4: to them or emailing them or texting them whatever and
- 22:21Speaker 4: saying hey, we need you to be on the premises.
- 22:24Speaker 4: But if you weren't called, you didn't get an email
- 22:27Speaker 4: or text or whatever, we are going to allow a
- 22:29Speaker 4: select number of people to show up there tomorrow. So
- 22:35Speaker 4: think about it this way. If you got the call,
- 22:37Speaker 4: the text, the email, whatever, you're already a finalist. But
- 22:40Speaker 4: tomorrow we're going to allow people to register, but only
- 22:43Speaker 4: a select number of those people will be added. So
- 22:46Speaker 4: we don't want you to think, well, I mean, I
- 22:48Speaker 4: got called and they told me I'm a finalist, and
- 22:50Speaker 4: now you're letting two hundred other people sign up. No,
- 22:52Speaker 4: we're going to let people sign up for other prizes
- 22:54Speaker 4: because we are going to be giving away a lot
- 22:55Speaker 4: of prices. We're only going to choose how many approximately
- 22:59Speaker 4: that's what I thought. We're only gonna choose five names
- 23:02Speaker 4: there tomorrow to go into the drawing for the bike
- 23:05Speaker 4: in a thousand bucks cash. Now they could win some
- 23:07Speaker 4: other cool prizes, and we're giving away door prizes I
- 23:10Speaker 4: think throughout the event, right.
- 23:11Speaker 11: Yeah, I think every twenty thirty minutes we got door
- 23:13Speaker 11: prizes coming away from the other sponsors that have joined
- 23:15Speaker 11: us in this this epic giveaway, so that'll be nice. Yeah,
- 23:21Speaker 11: so the the you still got a chance to win,
- 23:24Speaker 11: That's what it comes down to. You still got a
- 23:25Speaker 11: chance to win the the Himalayan. That's uh. You know,
- 23:30Speaker 11: we had someone even in the here yesterday, a really
- 23:32Speaker 11: cool guy who who bought the exact bike were given
- 23:35Speaker 11: away just because he wanted to make sure he got
- 23:37Speaker 11: that color even if and he's still trying to win.
- 23:40Speaker 11: So he's still trying to win in himself.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Well, and I will say this too, Uh, the last
- 23:46Speaker 4: live event that we that we did there, we did
- 23:49Speaker 4: a live broadcast from there. You guys moved the bike
- 23:52Speaker 4: out so people could see it, and people were just
- 23:54Speaker 4: all over this bike. Man and people that were just
- 23:56Speaker 4: like browsing. They weren't even necessarily mark they just wanted
- 23:58Speaker 4: to say they came out just see the bike. I
- 24:00Speaker 4: mean it's a it's a beautiful bike. It's a beautiful bike.
- 24:02Speaker 11: And uh, you know, if everyone for those who need
- 24:05Speaker 11: to get out there before eleven, you know, we're going
- 24:07Speaker 11: to have the food truck and open open tomorrow. So
- 24:09Speaker 11: Heather's going to do a one off menu and have
- 24:12Speaker 11: sauces and biscuits and uh, you know, so that's all complimentary.
- 24:16Speaker 11: The uh now, there will be a lemonade truck there tomorrow,
- 24:19Speaker 11: which is you've got to pay for that one because
- 24:21Speaker 11: that's not a part of us.
- 24:22Speaker 4: But and you got to keep hydrated markets. You gott
- 24:24Speaker 4: keep hydride. It's going to be warm.
- 24:25Speaker 11: It's going to be a warm day, so uh, you know,
- 24:27Speaker 11: come have breakfast, hang out, try to win some door prizes,
- 24:30Speaker 11: and then try to win that bike.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and again all kinds of door prizes are gonna
- 24:34Speaker 4: be given away. All of our stations are going to
- 24:36Speaker 4: be there, you know, the Mountain KWSV one hundred de beat,
- 24:40Speaker 4: I mean, we're all going to be their cchs will
- 24:42Speaker 4: all be there hanging out tomorrow. So you can come
- 24:44Speaker 4: and hang out with all of all of your favorite
- 24:46Speaker 4: WVRC media personalities. If you haven't heard about this event,
- 24:49Speaker 4: you either just moved here you hate radio. So yeah, exactly,
- 24:53Speaker 4: because it's been all over and we've been talking on
- 24:55Speaker 4: social media and things as well. We'll talk about the
- 24:58Speaker 4: apparel that you have there. Oh yeah, you know, in
- 25:00Speaker 4: a motorcycle game, no matter what the manufacturer is, there's
- 25:05Speaker 4: a lot of people that wear the apparel that don't
- 25:07Speaker 4: even have bikes. Yes, And I had someone in at
- 25:10Speaker 4: another place one time they told me that about fifty
- 25:14Speaker 4: about fifty percent of the people that come up buy
- 25:16Speaker 4: merchandise don't even own a bike. They dis like the
- 25:18Speaker 4: merchandise and they want you to buy a bike. But
- 25:19Speaker 4: we'd also like you take a look at merchandise because
- 25:21Speaker 4: you've got a lot.
- 25:22Speaker 11: Oh, we have tons of stuff that's thirty percent off.
- 25:26Speaker 11: We've got riding boots for seventy five bucks. I mean,
- 25:29Speaker 11: we we've got discounted jackets for you know, this coming winter,
- 25:34Speaker 11: you know, for those who ride a little bit later
- 25:35Speaker 11: into the year, early in the spring, and then we
- 25:37Speaker 11: have even just your everyday riding jackets you need to
- 25:40Speaker 11: wear right now because you need to be uh, you
- 25:43Speaker 11: need to be dressed up. A lot of people ride
- 25:45Speaker 11: in shorts and t shirts. And I know it's hot outside,
- 25:47Speaker 11: but you got to be worried about the what if? Yeah,
- 25:50Speaker 11: you know, so, so we have all that in stock.
- 25:54Speaker 11: You know, come check it out. You know, if you're
- 25:55Speaker 11: going to be a first time buyer or first time rider,
- 25:58Speaker 11: we got everything you need to get going.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Well, if somebody's listened to us right now, Sean they think,
- 26:03Speaker 4: you know, it's always been my dream to own a
- 26:05Speaker 4: bike and become a rider, but I really don't. I
- 26:08Speaker 4: may have ridden the what we what we called many
- 26:11Speaker 4: bikes back in the day, but I'm an adult now
- 26:13Speaker 4: and I'm older. What what do you what's your advice
- 26:16Speaker 4: to people that say, I want to take this up,
- 26:17Speaker 4: Because before you ever get on the bike, there's a
- 26:19Speaker 4: safety Uh, there's a there's a safety component that needs
- 26:23Speaker 4: to be Yeah, it need to be very caught.
- 26:24Speaker 11: So for me, I hadn't rode in twenty two years
- 26:28Speaker 11: before we went down this venture. So the best thing
- 26:32Speaker 11: to do is, you know, take your learners. Sign up
- 26:37Speaker 11: for the motorcycle safety class the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Here
- 26:40Speaker 11: in West Virginia, they do a course up here in
- 26:43Speaker 11: a big chimney Elkview at the Elk Center, I think
- 26:46Speaker 11: it's the Elk Center Elementary is where it's at over
- 26:50Speaker 11: where the Canal County has a large parking lot there
- 26:56Speaker 11: with the school system. So take that course because that
- 27:00Speaker 11: is that course is more beneficial even for someone who's
- 27:05Speaker 11: been a rider in the past. It really teaches you
- 27:08Speaker 11: how to ride slow, take turns, get comfortable on the
- 27:12Speaker 11: bike because once you feel comfortable turning left and right
- 27:15Speaker 11: in a parking lot, the rest of it becomes very
- 27:17Speaker 11: second nature. And but yeah, take the safety course, or
- 27:22Speaker 11: if you buy the bike, you can definitely get your
- 27:25Speaker 11: learners and buy a bike, but just take it home
- 27:27Speaker 11: and stay in your driveway, your neighborhood. Learn how to
- 27:31Speaker 11: use that clutch. That friction zone is the most important piece.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Indeed. All right, it's good, good advice. All right. So
- 27:37Speaker 4: we're going to start about ten o'clock tomorrow morning. I
- 27:40Speaker 4: think that's when we're gonna be there starting to set
- 27:42Speaker 4: up stations. Will be there about nine or nine thirty.
- 27:44Speaker 4: And we got the you got your food truck out there,
- 27:47Speaker 4: and I want to I'm very interested in the food
- 27:49Speaker 4: truck because every time we do an event there, I
- 27:51Speaker 4: go home with.
- 27:52Speaker 11: Stuff, you know, because ye shockle and Animal already said
- 27:55Speaker 11: that that's all they're looking for to it, says they're
- 27:58Speaker 11: all salivating already.
- 28:00Speaker 4: Yeah, Heather, Heather cooks some good food, very very good stuff.
- 28:03Speaker 4: I gotta I stopped by there when they were doing
- 28:06Speaker 4: a live broadcast. I took some food home with the
- 28:08Speaker 4: wife and I a couple of weeks ago, and it
- 28:09Speaker 4: was good stuff. Oh, I appreciate it. She'll appreciate that. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 4: it's good stuff, all right. So again, we want people
- 28:15Speaker 4: to show up about ten uh ten or so tomorrow. Uh.
- 28:19Speaker 4: If you are a finalist, if Tracy contacted you, you
- 28:21Speaker 4: got an email, you had a text or whatever, Uh,
- 28:24Speaker 4: then you because you must be present to win if
- 28:26Speaker 4: you were a finalist. And again, we're gonna let five
- 28:28Speaker 4: people other people that just show up tomorrow. They can register,
- 28:31Speaker 4: as you said, Sean, for all kinds of other door prices,
- 28:34Speaker 4: but we'll choose five of them to go in with
- 28:36Speaker 4: the mix with the other ones that are already there.
- 28:38Speaker 12: Uh.
- 28:39Speaker 4: And somebody's gonna get out of there.
- 28:41Speaker 11: With that bike in a thousand bucks in casters there's
- 28:42Speaker 11: five six hundred people already kind of signed up. I mean,
- 28:45Speaker 11: it's it's gonna be a big day. So but you
- 28:47Speaker 11: got to have boots on the ground to win this bike.
- 28:48Speaker 11: So you gotta be there.
- 28:49Speaker 4: You got to be present to win. And we'll give
- 28:51Speaker 4: it away. What time will the drawing actually be shown
- 28:54Speaker 4: around right around there round now? And that's what time
- 28:56Speaker 4: we normally do it. Yeah, and then and then we'll
- 28:59Speaker 4: go through all the all the stuff afterwards. And I
- 29:01Speaker 4: remember when we have done similar events like this in
- 29:04Speaker 4: the past, how popular they are, but we've never done
- 29:05Speaker 4: one like this at Trojan Lands. You got plenty of.
- 29:09Speaker 11: Room, yeah there, we've got plenty of parking. Plus you
- 29:12Speaker 11: can also park along round sixty one there before you
- 29:16Speaker 11: get to the business and walk up and give us
- 29:18Speaker 11: the address of the business Sporting. Yeah, yeah, soon you
- 29:21Speaker 11: assume everyone knows we're at. But yeah, so fourteen fourteen
- 29:24Speaker 11: of corkorl Avenue Southwest, all right, so we're right there
- 29:27Speaker 11: and here for a lot of people know the old
- 29:29Speaker 11: Sport mark.
- 29:29Speaker 4: All right. So Jeohn's gonna be a great day tomorrow
- 29:32Speaker 4: and we're looking forward to being there. I'll be down there,
- 29:34Speaker 4: as I said, all of our stations are going to
- 29:35Speaker 4: be there, and thank you so much for you and
- 29:38Speaker 4: Heather for for doing this. And it's gonna be a
- 29:40Speaker 4: big community event. And even if you're not interested in
- 29:42Speaker 4: a bike, just stop by because we're gonna have the
- 29:44Speaker 4: music pumping, We're gonna have all kinds of door prizes
- 29:46Speaker 4: and great food now here. Sean's gonna be the DJ
- 29:49Speaker 4: Sean right out back of his truck. DJ Shannie Mac
- 29:52Speaker 4: Seannie mcmire. Because when you think of hip hop, and
- 29:57Speaker 4: when you think of good times and rhythm, you think Sean.
- 30:00Speaker 4: You thank Sean Maye. Yeah, so we're gonna we'll have
- 30:03Speaker 4: him there. We'll all be there tomorrow and looking forward
- 30:05Speaker 4: to seeing you there as well. Sean. Thanks a lot, buddy,
- 30:07Speaker 4: Thank you miss so much. Appreciate it. Twenty three minutes
- 30:09Speaker 4: away from ten, Doctor Casey Saxonbridge Valley's coming up back
- 30:12Speaker 4: after this on the Voice of Charleston WCCHS.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Brought to you by the Eric J. Tar Family Businesses.
- 30:21Speaker 13: Eric J.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Tar Family Businesses want to thank you for supporting local
- 30:24Speaker 2: small businesses.
- 30:26Speaker 14: The summer driving season is underway here in West Virginia,
- 30:29Speaker 14: and if you're still dragging that old, worn out ride
- 30:32Speaker 14: up and down the turnpike, it's.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Time for an upgrade.
- 30:39Speaker 14: Get to Walker Chevrolet and Nitro, where Gene and Ryan

- 33:36Speaker 4: Thank you for being here. You know, I don't know

- 33:39Speaker 4: you're not, if you are, I should say I would
- 33:42Speaker 4: invite you, you and Yorn, as we say in southern
- 33:45Speaker 4: West Virginia to stop by and see us tomorrow at
- 33:49Speaker 4: a Trojan landing on a Cork avenue because we're giving
- 33:51Speaker 4: away one thousand bucks in cash and a Royal Infeld
- 33:56Speaker 4: Himalayan motorcycle.
- 33:58Speaker 18: Well that sounds like fun.
- 34:00Speaker 4: There's food trucks too, so.
- 34:02Speaker 18: That you had me at food truck you much?
- 34:04Speaker 4: Are you a bike ride? I know you're an outdoors enthusiast.
- 34:07Speaker 4: But but are you a motorcycle rider or have you
- 34:09Speaker 4: been in the past.
- 34:09Speaker 18: I've never ridden a motorcycle in my life.
- 34:12Speaker 4: Well, tomorrow would be a great opportunity for you to
- 34:14Speaker 4: stop by. So your invite is there. We're there starting
- 34:17Speaker 4: at ten o'clock tomorrow morning, and we're going to give
- 34:19Speaker 4: away that bike and we're gonna give away one thousand dollars.
- 34:22Speaker 4: So if you're in town, you're more than well, you're
- 34:24Speaker 4: more than welcome to stop by and see is there
- 34:26Speaker 4: at Trojan Landy tomorrow and also thank you. I know
- 34:28Speaker 4: you're an animal person too. I want to get this
- 34:30Speaker 4: out there. Kegs for k Nines is going on tomorrow
- 34:32Speaker 4: at the Red Carpet Lounge with the can Trot all right,
- 34:36Speaker 4: all right, well definitely, Well we'll also we're going to
- 34:38Speaker 4: bump into each other because we're going to be there
- 34:40Speaker 4: at that event tomorrow as well.
- 34:41Speaker 18: So good well, I'll see you.
- 34:43Speaker 4: I'll see you at that absolutely all right. So when
- 34:46Speaker 4: classes start at a Bridge.
- 34:47Speaker 18: Valley the eighteenth, really soon, we're so excited.
- 34:51Speaker 4: So what kind of prep goes into getting ready? Because
- 34:54Speaker 4: you always have things going on. I don't want you
- 34:56Speaker 4: to make the I wanted to make it sound like
- 34:57Speaker 4: that the college is closed all summer. There's always some
- 35:00Speaker 4: and going on. But when when a new batch comes in,
- 35:02Speaker 4: what kind of prep goes into that?
- 35:04Speaker 18: Yeah, Fall, you're right. Fall really is our big enrollment push,
- 35:07Speaker 18: and we I just checked yesterday. We're up eight percent
- 35:11Speaker 18: today compared to the same day last fall, so we're
- 35:13Speaker 18: still growing, which is wonderful. I love to see that
- 35:18Speaker 18: you can register all the way up until the eleventh
- 35:20Speaker 18: to start classes on the eighteenth. So if you're listening
- 35:22Speaker 18: today and you've sort of been thinking about it, now
- 35:24Speaker 18: is a great time to decide that you want to
- 35:26Speaker 18: be in a new program. And there's a lot of
- 35:29Speaker 18: prep that goes into it. Our faculty, most of them
- 35:32Speaker 18: are on nine month contracts, and so for the most part,
- 35:37Speaker 18: people have people have come back to campus, they're getting
- 35:40Speaker 18: labs ready, they're getting classes ready, they're really excited, and
- 35:43Speaker 18: the energy is wonderful this time of year.
- 35:45Speaker 4: Well, and you said that you have to the eleventh,
- 35:47Speaker 4: to keep in mind, that's just a few days away,
- 35:48Speaker 4: because the day's the eighth, So so we want to
- 35:51Speaker 4: make sure that people get themselves registered. Anything new. As
- 35:54Speaker 4: far as we always have exciting programs out there, but
- 35:56Speaker 4: anything in particular that you'd like to tell people about
- 35:59Speaker 4: for the upcomings mess So actually.
- 36:01Speaker 18: Something that we have fun that's coming going on next week.
- 36:04Speaker 18: You invited me to kegs for canines. I would like
- 36:07Speaker 18: to invite you and everybody listening. Next week, we're doing
- 36:09Speaker 18: a ribbon cutting for a mobile EMS lab. We've purchased
- 36:14Speaker 18: a big ambulance and it's a classroom. And so while
- 36:17Speaker 18: lots of places do ribbon cuttings for new buildings, we
- 36:20Speaker 18: thought we should do a ribbon cutting for our new ambulance.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Why not? Why not then the thirteenth, that's the thirteenth,
- 36:25Speaker 4: And what time is that going to be on the thirteenth.
- 36:28Speaker 18: It's the thirteenth to two o'clock in the afternoon in
- 36:31Speaker 18: the parking lot in South Charleston up at the Tech Center.
- 36:34Speaker 4: All right, thirteenth at two o'clock. We'll try our best. Well,
- 36:37Speaker 4: I'm actually busy at two o'clock. I do a radio
- 36:39Speaker 4: show in the afternoon, so I can't be there.
- 36:41Speaker 18: Do it from Bridge Valley?
- 36:42Speaker 4: Allay, Well, you got to talk to the sales department
- 36:44Speaker 4: about that, because hey, I ain't cheap, honey, you know
- 36:46Speaker 4: it could cost to get me to leave the stick.
- 36:48Speaker 4: I'm kidding, I'm kidding. We'll see what we can work out,
- 36:51Speaker 4: all right. So your WIM Academy, along with your partnership
- 36:55Speaker 4: with the WU Medison, picked up some hardware. I understand
- 36:58Speaker 4: we did.
- 36:59Speaker 18: Actually, this was so fun. The Education Alliance does a
- 37:02Speaker 18: School Business Partnership award, and the WIN Academy and WVU
- 37:06Speaker 18: Medicine Thomas Hospitals were the regional winner for our area,
- 37:09Speaker 18: really highlighting the incredible partnership that exists there between the two,
- 37:14Speaker 18: and it came with a small monetary prize. It was
- 37:16Speaker 18: enough for us to buy something that's called a veinfinder,
- 37:19Speaker 18: and so it's a new piece of equipment for anybody
- 37:22Speaker 18: in the health sciences that's learning how to draw blood.
- 37:25Speaker 18: So we use that a lot in phlebotomy but also
- 37:28Speaker 18: in nursing and rad tech and other programs, and it
- 37:30Speaker 18: helps people really learn where's the best place to prick you?
- 37:34Speaker 4: And you're a golf tournament is coming up to.
- 37:37Speaker 18: I understand here you already signed up.
- 37:41Speaker 4: That's TJ. Meadows. TJ. Meadows is our resident He and
- 37:44Speaker 4: Jared Parsons and Sean Meyer are resident golfers. On the staff.
- 37:48Speaker 4: I'm not much. But now if you need to wnd
- 37:49Speaker 4: a ride around in the cart and drink beer, I'm
- 37:51Speaker 4: your guy.
- 37:52Speaker 18: I mean, I do think that is part of the appeal.
- 37:55Speaker 4: So talk about the golf tournament.
- 37:57Speaker 18: So we do an annual golf tournament here at Bridge Valley.
- 37:59Speaker 18: It's a lot of fun. This year it's a Edgewood.
- 38:02Speaker 18: It's September twenty ninth, it's early morning. I think that's
- 38:05Speaker 18: the only bad part about golf tournaments is.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Yes, golf golfers don't care. They don't care. They'll be
- 38:09Speaker 4: out there and ready to go. You give them a
- 38:11Speaker 4: little some to eat and they'll be ready to go.
- 38:13Speaker 4: But go ahead.
- 38:13Speaker 18: That's right, That's exactly it. It's just a lot of fun.
- 38:16Speaker 18: We end up getting some terrific prizes. It's it's always
- 38:19Speaker 18: been so much fun, and we're really looking forward to it.
- 38:21Speaker 18: We'd love to have more teams join.
- 38:23Speaker 4: The fun, all right, And where can people? Because I
- 38:25Speaker 4: know my friends that are golfers, especially in the summertime
- 38:28Speaker 4: and in the fall, there's always all these golf tournaments
- 38:30Speaker 4: and there's some of them. I got a couple of
- 38:32Speaker 4: my buddies that I am convinced that that's what they do,
- 38:35Speaker 4: because they're always playing in this golf tournament for this
- 38:39Speaker 4: for this college, or for this cause, or for this
- 38:41Speaker 4: chamber of commerce or whatever. And it's good work if
- 38:44Speaker 4: you can get it. So to all my guys, all
- 38:48Speaker 4: my golfers out there, where can people sign up or
- 38:50Speaker 4: where can they get more information on how they can
- 38:51Speaker 4: join the tournament?
- 38:52Speaker 18: All of it is a Bridge Valley EEDU?
- 38:55Speaker 4: All right? And again it's the twenty ninth up at Edgewood,
- 38:59Speaker 4: Doctor Saxon. It' always a pleasure to have you on
- 39:02Speaker 4: the show and looking forward to getting to see you
- 39:04Speaker 4: and yours tomorrow out at Kegs for Canines over at
- 39:07Speaker 4: the Red Carpet Lounge. I know, as I said, I
- 39:09Speaker 4: know you very well. I know that you're an animal
- 39:11Speaker 4: lover as am I, so looking forward to seeing you
- 39:13Speaker 4: there tomorrow.
- 39:14Speaker 18: Likewise, we'll see you tomorrow, all.

- 41:23Speaker 4: the show on Monday, West Virginia Secretary State Chris Warner
- 41:26Speaker 4: is going to be on. And you may think when
- 41:29Speaker 4: it comes to elections, what is there to talk about
- 41:31Speaker 4: with the Secretary of States? I as well, this is
- 41:34Speaker 4: the time when it's an off year for elections, which
- 41:38Speaker 4: having worked in that office, I can tell you there's
- 41:40Speaker 4: no such thing as an off year for election. It's
- 41:42Speaker 4: the time that poll workers are needed and there's a

- 45:33Speaker 4: with the person driving through Multifest yesterday? Well it turned it,
- 45:38Speaker 4: you know. I the story first broke late yesterday afternoon,
- 45:42Speaker 4: and apparently what happened was there was a vendor at
- 45:47Speaker 4: Multifest that was setting something up and they got out
- 45:51Speaker 4: of the car, as best I understand it, and there
- 45:53Speaker 4: was a six year old in the car and somehow
- 45:57Speaker 4: the car was knocked into gear and then proceeded. No
- 46:03Speaker 4: one was injured, thankfully, the six year old was not
- 46:05Speaker 4: booked on any charges. No charges are going to be filed.
- 46:08Speaker 4: But it wasn't as bad as again, stop me if

- 46:15Speaker 4: thing first happened yesterday, talking about how unsafe it was
- 46:18Speaker 4: because somebody, some madman with a car was driving through
- 46:21Speaker 4: the crowd. That's not at all what happened. It was
- 46:23Speaker 4: a simple mistake. Could have been a lot worse. But
- 46:26Speaker 4: apparently a six year old was in the car and
- 46:30Speaker 4: I think the car struck a concrete burm or something
- 46:33Speaker 4: like that. No one was injured, nothing like that. Wasn't
- 46:36Speaker 4: some person driving through the crowd or anything like that.
- 46:38Speaker 4: It was an unfortunate mistake that happened yesterday and multifest
- 46:42Speaker 4: went on as scheduled and will continue, of course through
- 46:46Speaker 4: the weekend. Let me I got another text here, because
- 46:50Speaker 4: once I get into this next story, it's going to
- 46:51Speaker 4: take me a while. As we close out the show,
- 46:53Speaker 4: Tex says, would be nice if there was someone at
- 46:55Speaker 4: Trojan Landing of RD to take donated items for the
- 46:58Speaker 4: animal shelters, since there'll be so many people there, those animals,
- 47:01Speaker 4: the great staff and volunteers need all the extra help
- 47:04Speaker 4: and support we can give them. Well, that's a good idea.
- 47:07Speaker 4: That's a very good idea. So I'll tell you. I'll
- 47:10Speaker 4: tell you what we'll do. You want to bring out
- 47:13Speaker 4: some things to Trojan Landing tomorrow when we have all
- 47:16Speaker 4: these people out there, fine, we'll take it. I'll be
- 47:21Speaker 4: in charge of it. Just look for me. I'll be
- 47:23Speaker 4: the one with the incredibly pale white legs because I'll
- 47:25Speaker 4: be wearing shorts tomorrow. Not hard to find. If you
- 47:27Speaker 4: want to bring out somebody's somewhere to donate to the
- 47:29Speaker 4: animal shelter, I'm sure. Angie and a man and those
- 47:32Speaker 4: folks would love to have it. Bring bring it down.
- 47:35Speaker 4: You heard what they said. They need they need cardboard boxes,
- 47:39Speaker 4: they need they always need towels and sheets and things
- 47:42Speaker 4: of that nature. Bring it down. All of our stations
- 47:44Speaker 4: will be there. We've got a lot of vans and
- 47:46Speaker 4: a lot of trucks there. We'll get a loaded up.
- 47:48Speaker 4: So I get I guess I just volunteered myself. I'll
- 47:50Speaker 4: be that person. So bring bring you stuff on down.
- 47:54Speaker 4: Chris Lawrence with the story this morning at the website.
- 47:56Speaker 4: There has been a civil action filed in the US
- 48:00Speaker 4: District Court here in Charleston on behalf of the woman
- 48:02Speaker 4: who investigators say was sexually assaulted while being held at
- 48:06Speaker 4: the Judicial Annex. Attorneys Jesse Forbes, Dante Dtrappano or on
- 48:09Speaker 4: the case. The woman is only at this time being
- 48:12Speaker 4: identified by her initials. She was at the courthouse for
- 48:16Speaker 4: a hearing in regards to a charge from another state court.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Documents say she was removed from her holding cell on
- 48:24Speaker 4: multiple occasions before and after her hearing by Canawa County
- 48:29Speaker 4: Sheriff's deputy and bailiff Cast Close. The victim claiming mister
- 48:33Speaker 4: Close subjected her to numerous inappropriate comments before removing her
- 48:37Speaker 4: from her cell and forcing her into his office. The
- 48:40Speaker 4: victim is claiming that close committed sexual acts on her.
- 48:44Speaker 4: It is a graphic story for sure, something that I'm
- 48:47Speaker 4: really not going to want to get into on the
- 48:49Speaker 4: show this morning, but it is all laid out for
- 48:53Speaker 4: you in Chris Lawrence's story at w Metronews dot com
- 48:56Speaker 4: and you can actually read the lawsuit in there. There's
- 48:59Speaker 4: a link to it. And then the lawsuit names the
- 49:01Speaker 4: Canawa County Commission as the defendants since they are the
- 49:06Speaker 4: employing agency. That's just the way it works. Disclaimer here,
- 49:10Speaker 4: all persons are innocent until proven guilty. I did mention
- 49:16Speaker 4: that multifest is continuing today in Charleston. So many different
- 49:21Speaker 4: activities going on. Kegs for canines, that's where we will
- 49:24Speaker 4: be tomorrow. Will also be a Trojan landing giving away
- 49:27Speaker 4: that bike there. We talked to Eric Arnold from the
- 49:31Speaker 4: Alumni Association of Greater Kanaal Valley West Virginia University. They've
- 49:34Speaker 4: got their big event, their kickoff if you will, to
- 49:38Speaker 4: send the WVU kids to college. That's happening at the
- 49:41Speaker 4: Bucket this weekend. So lots of stuff going on. T
- 49:44Speaker 4: J Meadows is in the middle of all of it.
- 49:46Speaker 4: I just I think I just signed you up to
- 49:48Speaker 4: take part in a golf tournament, just so you know.
- 49:50Speaker 4: When September twenty ninth at Edgewood, Well, I got this
- 49:55Speaker 4: little thing called radio. That's what I said. I mean,
- 49:58Speaker 4: that's what doctor say. You want to let me go
- 50:00Speaker 4: golf instead of doing that? Hey, I'm for it. Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Now you're more of a solo golfer though, aren't you.
- 50:05Speaker 4: I mean, I play scrambles and stuffkay, okay, because I
- 50:08Speaker 4: thought I thought you was one.
- 50:10Speaker 19: Of the best things about my previous position before I
- 50:13Speaker 19: came here. A lot of golf tournament invites.
- 50:16Speaker 4: That's what I was talking about. I was talking about
- 50:18Speaker 4: that earlier. I've got a bunch of buddies in mine.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Every time I called him up or text him, I said,
- 50:22Speaker 4: what do you I'm playing on a golf tournament. I
- 50:24Speaker 4: was like, how do you get off the play golf? Well,
- 50:25Speaker 4: that's for a good cause, you know, it's for the
- 50:28Speaker 4: United Way or for the Chamber of Commerce, or the
- 50:30Speaker 4: Boy Scout Special Olympics, whatever the politics. It is a
- 50:34Speaker 4: great it's it's a it's a great way to network
- 50:36Speaker 4: and uh, you're an avid golfer. Jared our boss here
- 50:40Speaker 4: is an avid golfer. Sean Meyer, I think is a golfer.
- 50:42Speaker 4: So freddie per Singer, Fred Pursinger is a is an
- 50:46Speaker 4: avid golfer.
- 50:47Speaker 19: He was giving me tipsy other day. By the way,
- 50:49Speaker 19: he's a great coach. Let me let me switch gears
- 50:52Speaker 19: on you for a second. Today's day and age with
- 50:55Speaker 19: the technological advances that we have, and maybe it's in place,
- 50:58Speaker 19: and it just I missed it. Should an inmate ever
- 51:01Speaker 19: be truly alone with a bailiff, Should there be a
- 51:05Speaker 19: camera in some room somewhere, well, not only to protect
- 51:08Speaker 19: the inmate but the bailiff is I understand what you're saying.
- 51:11Speaker 19: And that was the first thing that when this story
- 51:13Speaker 19: came out, someone asked me, was there there was no
- 51:15Speaker 19: camera in there?
- 51:16Speaker 4: I guess it was a private office. I mean, it's
- 51:18Speaker 4: all going to come out in the court case. So
- 51:21Speaker 4: I agree, other than a maybe a restroom facility, that
- 51:26Speaker 4: would be the only I agree, But again, not only
- 51:29Speaker 4: to protect the m a but also to protect the
- 51:31Speaker 4: officer as well. Bad people do bad things, Yeah, but
- 51:34Speaker 4: there wasn't some kind of control to ensure that anyway.
- 51:38Speaker 4: What you got on the Big Show today, buddy.
- 51:40Speaker 19: So coming up on the Big Show, we have a
- 51:42Speaker 19: newly nominated, newly announced West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Thomas
- 51:47Speaker 19: ewing On at ten oh six. We'll talk with him.
- 51:49Speaker 19: We continue to follow this shooting at camc General in
- 51:53Speaker 19: the emergency room, so press conference. I think at ten
- 51:56Speaker 19: o'clock we're hoping to have someone from the police department
- 52:00Speaker 19: on and or someone who's at the conference, so you know,
- 52:02Speaker 19: things are in flux. We'll see what happens there. Howard
- 52:05Speaker 19: Monroe joins us. He has an interesting commentary out about
- 52:08Speaker 19: town halls. Of course, it's Friday, Styrwaltz here. Maybe a
- 52:12Speaker 19: thing or two is going on in Washington.
- 52:13Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Maybe we'll get into Texas redistricting. He can take some
- 52:16Speaker 4: of the heat on that. I heard some of the
- 52:18Speaker 4: conversation with you and mister Pushkin yesterday that I got
- 52:20Speaker 4: a little heated. I don't I wouldn't see it kind
- 52:23Speaker 4: of heated. I think it, but you if you shook
- 52:25Speaker 4: hands at the end, So but I think it got
- 52:27Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 52:28Speaker 19: I appreciate Mike's passion. I'm a passionate person, you know.
- 52:31Speaker 19: But but he was civil. I mean it was hung
- 52:33Speaker 19: out after him.
- 52:34Speaker 4: You can be heated but still be You can disagree
- 52:37Speaker 4: with someone and you can still what is it, love somebody? Yeah,
- 52:40Speaker 4: there you go. All right, it's my line. All Right,
- 52:42Speaker 4: I gotta go. I'll see you later today. I'll Metro
