Latest / Rick Manis Ministries Podcast / A Certain Sound From Heaven
Transcript
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: There's a sound that goes beyond just what I'm saying, and it's what the that the Spirit says, and the Spirit speaks specifically, or as the Bible says, He speaks expressly.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: And so the reason one of the reasons that I that I feel like I'm been looking at this a lot and talking about it a lot is that that that's really where the where maturity is.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: That's really where the body of Christ is not only do we need to grow in that, but it's it's it's it's something that we're going to be growing a lot in.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of a lot of growth that can happen with hearing the Father's voice, because there's many sounds in the earth, and there's a certain sound from heaven, and it's spoken of here in Acts chapter 2.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: This is where I get that idea.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Um in verse 1, uh we're probably familiar with this verse, but it says, When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord and in one place.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: It filled the whole house.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Now, what I want to focus on here is that there came a sound from where?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: From heaven.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: It was a sound from heaven.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Now, think of this.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: For all of mankind, ever since you know the whole Garden of Eden thing, for all of mankind, there's there's been this other sound going out in the earth, or other sounds, we could say, going into the earth.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Jesus came, and remember, I love the quote from John chapter 1 where it says, No man had seen the Father or perceived the Father at any time, but the Son, Jesus, who's in the bosom, or he's in the heart of the Father, living in the heart of the Father, living in the heart of the Father, he has declared him, or he has revealed him.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: And so Jesus actually was the beginning, excuse me, the beginning of bringing that in.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: In fact, his teaching was your father, your father, something, something just that in itself was a sound that was not heard.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Um telling a woman who Moses said should be stoned, I do not condemn you, was a different sound that was coming to the earth.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: And even though Jesus spoke that sound, and we read those words, he says, I have many things to tell you, but you can't hear them right now.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: But the Holy Spirit, when the Spirit comes, he's going to reveal these things to you.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: He's going to take all of my glory, he's going to take what's my, and he's going to show it to you.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: He's going to reveal it.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: The Spirit living in us is the revealer of truth.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: You know, most of what Jesus taught in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, those twelve around him really didn't get it accurately, what he was talking about.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: And Jesus knew that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: But he says, All these things that I've said, the Holy Spirit will bring them back to you.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And he'll bring it back to your remembrance, and he'll reveal these things to you.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: So he knew that there was something they were going to hear beyond just the things that their physical ears heard coming out of his mouth.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Just those teachings.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: In fact, his teachings were heard in the natural ears of men, and because the natural ears of men don't perceive spiritual things.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: They're only spiritually discerned, as the Bible says.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: They misunderstood.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: They thought he was blasphemous, they thought he was had a demon, they thought he was crazy, they thought all these things.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And he was ultimately crucified.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: But there's a certain sound that comes from heaven.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So when Jesus brought that in, and then the Spirit comes, and this is what we were waiting on.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: He says, wait.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Don't do anything, but wait.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: There's coming that power from on high.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: And on that day is what many of us call the birthday of the church, because that's when the spirit came to humanity, and it brought with it a sound, a voice, if you will.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And that voice, when we have received it, when we've heard it, it starts to change us, doesn't it?
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: How many of you ever since you received that spirit, you started seeing things differently, you started thinking things differently, you started hearing a different kind of sound that was totally different from the one you did before.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: For me, I could describe that in many ways, but but uh the first thing I noticed is that it turned, changed from a hopeless sound to a hopeful sound.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: It changed from a negative sound to a positive sound, and it changed from a dark and hateful sound to a loving sound.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: And so we see the change.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: There is a sound from heaven, and a sound that comes.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Now, uh we see it spoken of in 1 Corinthians chapter 14, verses 7 and 8.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And the Apostle Paul's writing here, and he says, Now, even things without life, whether it's a flute or a harp, when they make a sound, unless they make a distinction in the sounds, how will it be known what is piped or played?
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: And so he's talking about a specific uh specificity.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Is that the word a specific sound?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: He said, a distinction.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Not just some kind of sound, like where you a kind of sound where you go like, what was that?
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: And some say it was this, and some say it was that, but like, no, that was that was a flute, and it was playing this particular tune.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: He says, unless they make a distinction in the sound, how will anybody know what's really being played?
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: And so it has to be a distinct, a certain sound.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: He says, for if the trumpet makes an uncertain sound, then who will prepare for the battle?
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So when he's talking about going to battle, and we'll look at that a little bit more too, and how that applies to this, when he's talking about going to battle, you know, there's a certain uh alarm to battle, a trumpet sound that calls men to battle, but if it's if that trumpet sound happens to be um, you know, whatever, or whatever they did with the ram's horns, and they did something else if they played, you know, Dixie or something, you know, they're like, what?
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: What do we do?
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: They they don't know because it has to be a certain sound, and there's a certain specific sound from heaven.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: It also goes on and it says there are many voices in the world.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And he says, and and none of them is without its own distinction.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: There are many sounds there, but there's a certain sound.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: And what we're looking at here is that what we what we go by, what we march to, is the sound of the Good Shepherd.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: And there is a sound that I'd like to see us as the body of Christ more not only tuned into it, inclining our ear to it, recognizing it, and what I really want to see, what I really look forward to seeing, is the manifestations that come from it, the joy that comes from it, there's a peace that comes from it, there's certainly love, there's all the manifestations or the fruit of the Spirit that come from hearing the sound.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Now, when we look at this, we understand that what we're doing is we're hearing something with the ability that God gives us, because we have natural ears and we have natural eyes, but how many know we also have ears to hear spiritual things?
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: And it's not these ears.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: We might hear teaching that goes into these ears, but we if we hear anything spiritually true, um, it's because we we our our our our hearts have heard that, because with the heart man believes.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And our hearts have heard it, and there's a sound that the heart knows is true, because the spirit knows all things.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: He even said, because we have the spirit, uh John says, Well, you have that anointing from the Holy One, and you know everything.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: You know everything.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: So when you hear somebody say that sound, or you hear that sound of the Spirit, even if it's just speaking to you personally while you're all alone, when you hear that that sound, you know.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: And even right now, before I say anything else, the truth is because of who you are and who's a who's in you and who's a part of you, the anointing, the Holy Spirit, Christ in you, you and it's a part of you.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: It's not you're not schizophrenic, you're not two people in there.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: You have become one man in Christ.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: And and and as this new creation, there is a part of you, get that part.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: There is a part of you, your inner man, that knows all of these things.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: So when you hear the shepherd's voice, you come to it because you recognize that sound.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Because it's a sound that's coming from within your heart.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: It's a sound that you bear witness to, and you know that that's your your Heavenly Father talking to you.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: And there's no confusion in it.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: The confusion comes from something else.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: The confusion comes because we're bouncing things off our brain here.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I can teach something, and then someone says, Well, that's good, but what about this?
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: And all that.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: And it's and it's innocent, and it doesn't bother me or upset me at all, but you but you know what's going on is they're they're bouncing it in their in their brain instead of hearing something in the spirit, and hearing that thing, and letting it just and and and and hearing that certain sound.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: I think of of how um Elijah was in that uh in that cave in the in the mountain, right, when he was hiding from Jezebel, and he wanted to die.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: It's like, it's over.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: I'm done.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: Take me, Lord, it's over.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: And uh, and he it's it's it's it's an interesting story how he could stand up to all these prophets on on Mount Carmel and all these people worshiping false gods.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: He could stand up to all them and call them out, and he could, he could, he could uh you know bring out this this this contest and have such faith and know that that he's gonna win.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: And then after he wins, one woman gets mad at him and he takes off running and gets scared.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: And he and he's in that place and he's afraid and he's depressed, and he feels like he just wants to die.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: He doesn't want to live anymore, and he tells, he, you know, he tells the Lord, it's enough.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I'm done.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: And he hears, you know, the story.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: He hears there's an earthquake, but God's not wasn't in that, and there was a big, a big uh wind that came, and it wasn't in that, and God wasn't in that.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: There was a fire, God wasn't in that, but then there was that voice, that still small voice.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: There was a certain sound that he heard.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: And that sound that we're talking about is a sound that's running through us all the time.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: A sound for us to hear.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: And really, creation is waiting for us to look, hear that sound.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: Creation is waiting for us to march to that sound.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And we're coming to it.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: As truly as God lives, the whole earth will be filled with the knowledge of his glory.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: We're coming to know him in his goodness.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: There are things that are sound, there is a sound that comes from heaven, and there are many sounds in the earth.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: But the good news is there is a sound, and that sound brings peace, it brings joy, it brings faith.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: It's that sound that you find when you're dealing with something in this world, and you turn to the turn turn to the Lord and you talk to him about it, and somehow in that whole thing, he ministers this thing to you, and you start to experience peace in a stormy situation.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Where did that come from?
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Because your heart heard something from the Father.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Your heart heard, peace be still.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Your heart heard comfort, your heart heard, I've got this.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: It brought a peace and an assurance to you because the noise was saying something else, but in the midst of that noise, you heard another sound that's an eternal sound, that's a stable sound, that an unshakable sound, and it's a sound that is always from heaven, and it's always true, and it's pure, and it's right, and it's good, and it's lovely, and it's all that stuff right there.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: In 2 Corinthians chapter 12, I love this story, how Paul really talking about himself here, this experience he had, in chapter 12, verse 4.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: He says, How he was caught up into paradise and he heard inexpressible words.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: He heard something.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: He was caught up into heaven.
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Previous verses he called it the third heaven.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: Here he calls it paradise.
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: He said he was caught up into paradise and he heard something.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: Now he wasn't caught up into earth, he was caught up into paradise, heaven, if you will.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Caught up into paradise, and he heard inexpressible words.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Some of your translations will say, I heard heard something that our words cannot express.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Something wonderful, something good.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: I heard these inexpressible words, which it's not lawful for a man to utter.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: Now, what did he hear?
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: He heard something.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: And he heard something from heaven, not from earth.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: But what could it be?
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: What was he hearing when he says, I heard these inexpressible words, and these are words that are not lawful for man to utter.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: It almost sounds like it's not something good.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: But I'm telling you, it's absolutely good.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Words that it's not lawful for a man to utter.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Think about this.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: Think about it this way.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: Let me throw this out here to you.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: In other words, what he heard was something that he heard in heaven.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: So it means whatever it was he heard, it must be lawful to express it in heaven.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Or else he wouldn't have heard it.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: It was lawful in heaven to be said, but it's not lawful on earth to be said.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: I'll give you another example.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Jesus, this has got him in trouble a lot with people.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Jesus, look what look what he did so over and over again.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: He was always uttering things that are totally lawful in heaven but were not lawful for man.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Moses says, the law says, this woman caught in the very act of adultery is supposed to be stoned.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Lawfully.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Lawfully.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: What do you say?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: And they're basically challenging him, like, are you going to go against the law of Moses?
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Are you going to be unlawful right here in front of everybody?
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: And he looks at the woman and says, I do not condemn you.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: That was not lawful for man to utter, but it was certainly lawful in heaven to utter that because God is good, God is love, God is merciful.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: God was for the woman.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: It was not lawful for him to speak to the Samaritan.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: He was always doing things that were unlawful for man to utter.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Someone told me today, I mentioned Zacchaeus like I do, because I love to preach about that little guy.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And someone was pointing out that his name means purity or something like that.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: And he says, he says, really, says, the fact that Jesus says, Zacchaeus, come down, I want to go to your house was a big deal because nobody else probably called him purity.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Purity, righteous, holy.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Nobody else probably called him that.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: They probably called him bad.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Probably called him thief.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Probably called him something ugly.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: But he called him something good.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: And he treated the man in the way that they didn't think was right.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: And we're talking about the church leaders of that system around there.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: And they didn't think it was right.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: It wasn't right for them to do that, but in heaven it was absolutely right.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: Jonah didn't want to go preach to the Ninevehites because they were bad people and they deserved some judgment.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And when God forgave them and was merciful to them, Jonah complained about it and said, These are bad people, you know, and you know, this is why I didn't want to go and why I didn't want to pray for them, because I just knew that you'd forgive them.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: And he says, Well, isn't it right that I do that?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Isn't it just that I forgive these people who don't know their right hand from their left?
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: See, heaven sees things differently.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Heaven sounds different than earth.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, come on.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: There are a lot of things that are lawful for us to say on earth.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: They make perfect sense according to the laws of man.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I'm not talking about just civil laws and religious laws.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about logic.
- 17:52unknown: Two.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: The laws of uh a lot of times I talk about heaven, they said, yeah, but what about reality?
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, what reality?
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: There are two.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: And one of them is very temporary.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: So it's like a vapor that just comes and goes, but there's one that's always going to exist and always has existed and always will.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: And that's the law of heaven.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: And the law of heaven is the is the way of the father.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So that's why Rick just talks about love all the time, because that's the sound.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: That's the heartbeat of the Father.
- 18:32SPEAKER_00: Amen?
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Are you hearing it?
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: So what Jesus does when he comes in and establishes this new covenant, and he washes us with his blood and comes to live inside of us by the Spirit like that.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: The things that were once could not be uttered, the things we couldn't conceive of, the natural man cannot conceive, cannot receive of the things of God.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: It's foolishness to him.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Only the spirit, by the spirit, can we know these things.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: I has not seen, as it is written, I has not seen, nor has the ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love him.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: That was a scripture that was written that had not been entered into the heart of man.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: But he writes this now after the Holy Spirit, and he says, But God has revealed them to us by his spirit.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Are y'all hearing this?
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Well, here there's a sound that makes the unlawful lawful.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: What did Paul the apostle?
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: Nobody was more about law than him.
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: That's according to his own words.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: Legalist, Pharisee, excelling more than my peers, concerning the law, blameless, a Pharisee of the Pharisees, Mr.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: Lawkeeper, Mr.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Do everything that is lawful, persecuting Christians because they were looking like they were making the unlawful lawful.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: And then it happens to him.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: Then he reveals something to us in Romans chapter 5, and he says, You know what?
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: Though I was living that way, let me take you behind the curtains to Paul's real life.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: He says, The things that I didn't want to do, I still did.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: And the things I wanted to do, I still never did it.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: I never lived up to it.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: I found a law which didn't give me any power.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: So, what's going to deliver me from this?
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: This body of sin, this sinfulness that I have.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I want to deal with this sin.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: What's going to do it?
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: I thank God through Jesus Christ my Lord that there is therefore now no condemnation in Christ Jesus.
- 20:57SPEAKER_00: For the law, heavenly law, not earthly law, not religious law, not man's law, not logic law.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus is what has made me free from the law of sin and death.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: And then Paul goes on to say later on, he says, you know what?
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: This was pretty bold for him to write this.
- 21:18SPEAKER_00: I'm so glad that he did, because it's scary to people.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: But he says, you know what?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: All things are lawful to me.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: They're not all good for me.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Not all good for me.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: It'd be stupid for me to do a lot of things, so I don't do those.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: But they're all lawful.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: They don't affect my righteousness, my holiness, my standing with God.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: They don't affect the blood of Jesus one bit.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: They don't affect my my relationship with God or whatever.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: They don't affect any of this because it was all about Him.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: All things are lawful too, but not all things are good.
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: What's going on?
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: Well, what Jesus did was high.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Whole thing this gospel has done is it took that which was unlawful for man and it made it lawful.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: It made it law to go ahead and be blessed, even though you're imperfect and you violate the law, the written, the law of Moses.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: It's amazing that Christians would even debate over that and think that, you know, you hear a lot of them say, Yeah, we're under grace, but we still have to live by that standard that's in the law.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: And they don't do it.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Not only can they not, they say, well, you know, we have ways of covering for that.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: We have uh, you know, confess it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: Uh say, well, you know, you've you've you've, who is it, Andrew Farley says, you've committed millions of sins, and I'm sure you've only confessed thousands.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Another thing, if we were really serious about keeping the law and keeping the words of Jesus in that way, most of us would have an eye gouged out tonight, right?
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: If your your right eye offends you, most of us would be pulling, would have would have pulled an eye out.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Most of us would be here with one hand at best.
- 23:25unknown: Right?
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: If we really were serious about that, but you know how we do as Christians.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: We're serious about the law that's easy for us.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: We're serious about the law that we just happen to keep without trying much.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: And we're serious about the law that other people break.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: All that stuff, what all that stuff goes on?
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: And what does it produce?
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: It's a judgmental thing, it's a it's an ungracious thing, it's uh an anger thing, it's a fear thing.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: All these things, and to think that God would give that kind of a freedom.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: That he says, I am going.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: This is love.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: How many know that that there is no fear in love?
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: That's what 1 John says.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: There is no fear in love.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: So you know that God is not afraid of blessing somebody that's committing a sin?
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: A lot of Christians are.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: You know what Christians say?
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: Well, I can't be good to them.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: I can't bless them.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: What message would I be sending?
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: You know what that is?
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: That's fear.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: I've had people tell me, you know, well, if you, like the adulterous woman, if they were there, I'll tell you, we it's funny how as Christians, we we we all think that we wouldn't be like the Pharisee.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: But wow, how many have told me things like this woman?
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: I'm thinking of a specific situation right now, where a uh a young lady was having a child and she was not married, and she was coming to our church, and we wanted to have a baby shower for her, and there was a couple in leadership that says, I will not partake of that, I will not be a part of it.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: How can we do that?
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Because what kind of message is that sending to the other young girls in our church?
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: And do you realize that's fear?
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: This says, if we if we bless this precious young lady that God loves so very, very much, and all his heart wants to do is love her and bless her and pour out his goodness and his abundance upon her, and you're afraid it'll send a bad message, that's fear, not love.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: So that's why God's way, which is the way of love, it makes it lawful.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Not all things are good.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: Not everything's good.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Not everything I do is good.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Not every way, you know, there I there's always can be improvement.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: But the fact that he's made us holy and righteous and blameless, it makes the unlawful lawful.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: And you know what's so good about this certain sound?
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Is that when you're hearing that sound, there is something about the beauty of that sound, there's something about the power of that sound, where you don't even feel tempted, like you were in the way that you once did, to go do the harmful things.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: Whereas when you're not hearing that sound, you're trying to straitjacket yourself.
- 26:56SPEAKER_00: I've dealt with how many people have I dealt with that had that had things that were that were detrimental to their life that they were involved in, and they were they were white knuckling this thing.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: They said, I'm trying my best.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: I'm fasting, I'm praying that I can stop, I'm begging God to deliver me.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: I've been up to for prayer, I've been to every stomach puncher and head squeezer and and pusher over, and I've done everything that I that I know to do.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: And I know some of them that were good friends of mine, that to this day they're not dealing with God at all because they got mad at God for not helping them.
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: And they begged him to help because they thought that was the issue.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: When God says, through Christ, it's all lawful.
- 27:42SPEAKER_00: Maybe it wasn't good for you, but it didn't have to affect me and you, says the Lord.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: You can still come to me every day, you can still enjoy me, you can still be loved by me, you can still be blessed by me.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: You don't have to be like Adam and go hide and run away from me.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Because what the reason that people run away or hide from God is just because of what Adam did.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: He was ashamed and he was afraid.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: He was ashamed because what he was doing or what he was not doing was not measuring up.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: He was naked and he was ashamed.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: And when God comes to be with him, God doesn't pull away, man pulled away.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: And Colossians says that we were alienated from God because, uh, excuse me, we were alienated from God in our own minds because of our wicked works.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: That's what I love about the blood of Jesus.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: He takes all that and says, none of that has to separate us.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: It's lawful to be blessed, even though you don't do everything right.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: It's lawful for God to love you.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: In heaven it is, in the spirit, and your heart really knows this.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: See, there are things it's lawful for you to be loved.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: I don't care if you hollered at the kids and kicked a dog on the way to heaven before you left the house tonight.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: It's law for you to be loved and cared for and nurtured and spoken gently to by the Spirit instead of harshly.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: It's lawful for you to not have to have be condemned because you did something wrong.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: It's in heaven, it's lawful.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: In man's world, it's not, because religion just won't allow that.
- 29:46SPEAKER_00: There's no condemnation in Jesus.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: It's lawful.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: Here's a good one.
- 29:52SPEAKER_00: It's lawful for me to wake up and live every single day without an ounce of condemnation anywhere on me.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: But yet be so imperfect.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Let's say it that way, you know what I mean.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: Be so imperfect.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: It's lawful to feel like you can be blessed, and God will hear your your prayers and bless you and what you're asking for and be good to you.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: It's lawful to go ahead and expect that.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Have faith, confidence in God.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: When you've just had the worst week as a Christian you've ever had.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: It's lawful.
- 30:46SPEAKER_00: Are y'all hearing anything?
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: It's good and it's right.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Somebody says, well, God's a just God, though.
- 30:52SPEAKER_00: He's he's He's got to deal with this stuff and all that.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: See, that's there again, that's man's courts.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: My Bible says that God is just.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: He is a just God.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: My Bible says God is just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all of our unrighteousness.
- 31:26SPEAKER_00: Psalms chapter 89, verse 15 has a verse here that sort of capsulizes this.
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: He says, Blessed are the people who know what sound?
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: The joyful sound.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: Are those who know that sound?
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: Now remember, Jesus said, My sheep know my voice.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: They walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance or in your presence.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: They walk in the goodness of that.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: Where do you get that?
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: From hearing that sound.
- 31:55SPEAKER_00: I talked about 20 years ago when something happened to me when I found out, after laying on the floor, I found out for the first time to be true.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: In such a way that just baptized me, it just I saw it, I heard the sound.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: That God loved me without any demands, without any conditions, and I didn't have to do a thing, and I would be loved, and God would like me.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Not just love, like me.
- 32:27SPEAKER_00: God would bless me and God would favor me all the time because that's what he wanted to do in the first place.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: And one of the things that we see when we look at the grace of God through Jesus Christ is we see that that was his intention the whole time, and that's what he wanted us to have.
- 32:41SPEAKER_00: No wonder he made such a covenant that takes us completely out of the way.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Where he fulfills his part of the covenant and he fulfills our part of the covenant, and says, You're not going to myth any of this up by anything you do.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: That's how all things are lawful.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: Are y'all here?
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: No wonder the grace of God, the goodness of God, the love of God, no wonder it scares people.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: It goes against their laws, goes against the rules, goes against their logic.
- 33:15SPEAKER_00: If we allow this, they'll all do this.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: What kind of message does that send?
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: What kind of message did Jesus send when he forgave a woman that was caught in adultery?
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: The message was you're still worthy to be loved.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: You're still worthy to live.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: You're still precious enough.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Now go and don't be in shame anymore.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: What kind of a message does it send out of all these people for you to go in that man's house?
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: Zacchaeus, go into that sinner's house.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: He's a thief, he's a traitor.
- 33:53SPEAKER_00: What kind of message are you sending?
- 33:55SPEAKER_00: The message he sent was Zacchaeus, you're important.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: You deserve to be loved.
- 34:02SPEAKER_00: You deserve to be treated like a human because that's what you are.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: A creation of God.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: You deserve as much as anybody else my presence tonight.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: I want to eat with you.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: That's the kind of message he sends.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Thank God he sent that message.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: There's a certain sound.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you how you I want you know this sound.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: And I'm saying this because we know right now, and it's really because of technology more than anything, and all the available outlets, there is a lot of noise going on.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: And they've all got their sounds.
- 34:45SPEAKER_00: And just like always from the very beginning, from the whole beginning of the fall of man in the garden, there's been a false sound.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: There have been false sounds that sound like the way.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: There's a way that seems right to man.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: But there's a sound from heaven.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: I'm hearing some things.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Sometimes when people are talking to me and they're like, they're and and they're like they're they're they're standing for God, and I'm like, God, if that doesn't sound anything like the heart that I know.
- 35:17SPEAKER_00: I'm like, if what they're saying, if that's you, then I don't know you.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: Because I know that sound.
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Jesus said here in John chapter 10, listen, now, this kind of explains some things.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: John chapter 4, verse 5, is where Jesus says, I'm the good shepherd.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: And verse 4 says, And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: That sound, right?
- 35:43SPEAKER_00: Y'all hearing this?
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: They know that sound, or they know his voice, yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him because they don't know the voice of strangers.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: What we're doing, what's happening to us, is we're we're we're recognizing that sound more and more, and it's bringing us into peace when we're when we need a decision to make.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe we're confused about something.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: There's that sound that comforts us, that directs us, that there's that's there with us and causes us to know things.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: And we as we're growing in this, we're learning that sound more and more and more, and it's bringing us into power, bringing us into peace, bringing us into faith.
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: We know that voice.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: And what I'm noticing, what I've noticed that it's that it's been doing in me for years, is it's drawing me away from the other voices that I maybe have listened to before, and I have echoed their voices even through my mouth.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: But what we're finding, if you haven't noticed yet, is that with this sound, we're we can feel it, we can see it, we're getting closer and closer to the very bosom of the Father, the very center of God's heart.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: And we're finding out that it's holy and it's pure and it's perfect and it's absolute life.
- 37:01SPEAKER_00: And we get to where we're not so familiar anymore with those other voices.
- 37:09SPEAKER_00: And finally, Psalms 23.
- 37:14SPEAKER_00: Because Jesus is the good shepherd.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: Now let me say this.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: Well, we'll see it here in the Psalm.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: Let's read Psalms 23.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: David writing says, The Lord is my shepherd.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: I shall not want.
- 37:34SPEAKER_00: Let me throw this out here to you.
- 37:37SPEAKER_00: Do you know what your soul is coming to right now?
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: It's coming to a condition as you hear this sound.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, this is good.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, I hope you can hear this.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: As you hear this sound, your soul is coming to a condition where you shall not want fullness.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: The way Paul said in Ephesians was I pray that you know all the dimensions of the love of Christ so you can be filled with the fullness of God.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Where you have no more lust, religious lust.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, I need to do this.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: We're supposed to be doing that.
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I have to do this.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: What's the Bible say to do about all this stuff?
- 38:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, I need God to do this, I need this, I need does God hear me?
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: Does God care?
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: What's going on?
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: See, all this stuff comes up in our head, but when we're hearing the shepherd, he brings us to a place where we shall not want.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: We feel full.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: Well, I want people to like me.
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: You'll feel loved already.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: And you'll find out some people might not like you anyway, but you're gonna like them because you shall not want.
- 38:55SPEAKER_00: They don't have to believe in you, but you're gonna believe in them because you're full.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: That's where your soul is coming.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: You shall not want.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: And that's what he's talking about when he says he makes me lie down in green pastures and he leads me beside still waters.
- 39:09SPEAKER_00: That's a place, still waters.
- 39:11SPEAKER_00: I love Judy and I.
- 39:12SPEAKER_00: We go to this place in the what we call the cool of the day, which is the time of the evening.
- 39:16SPEAKER_00: Uh by the Bible calls it the time of the evening breeze.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: But but where we live, we'll go to this this little lake, beautiful lake, and sit and watch the sun go down.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: And at that time of day, the birds are all coming in to roost.
- 39:28SPEAKER_00: They've all done their thing all day, hard days work, you know, fishing and all that.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: And they're coming in to roost in these cypress trees, and the waters almost every evening are just like glass.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: You know, during the day the breezes come up in the heat of the day and all that, but it just starts getting still.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: It's like that in the early morning, and it's like that in the late evening.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: And the waters are perfectly still, and it's the most peaceful, the most peaceful feeling that you get.
- 39:55SPEAKER_00: And that's what he's saying.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: He leads me into peace.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: That's a good way to know.
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: Any of these other voices of the world, they can be very tempting, but it's it's so easy for me to see it.
- 40:09SPEAKER_00: If it's leading you to peace and a sense of fullness where I shall not want.
- 40:16SPEAKER_00: If you feel like you're standing on a mountaintop, that's that certain sound.
- 40:21SPEAKER_00: If it makes you lacking, if it makes your waters turbulent, if it makes you fearful, right?
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: If it makes you angry, if it makes you feel needy, that's not heaven's sound, because heaven's sound is perfect.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: He restores my soul, that's part of the sound, right?
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: When you're feeling trouble in your life, you incline your ear to him and restoration of your soul.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: If you felt stress, you felt fear, you felt anger or something, you incline your ear to him, and he restores, doesn't he?
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: He just brings that back into being right.
- 40:58SPEAKER_00: He leads me in the path of righteousness for his name's sake.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil because you're with me.
- 41:09SPEAKER_00: Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: If there's an uncertain sound by the trumpet, how will we know to go to battle?
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: I will not fear.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: He says, You set a table for me in the presence of my enemies.
- 41:34SPEAKER_00: Now watch this.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: I wanted to do this little thing here.
- 41:40SPEAKER_00: Here is how to do spiritual warfare.
- 41:43SPEAKER_00: Here is how to win battles.
- 41:47SPEAKER_00: The enemy's raging.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Things are coming against you.
- 41:52SPEAKER_00: Devil's spouting condemnation.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: And here he says, in the midst of my enemies, whoops, I'll need this.
- 42:01SPEAKER_00: God sets a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
- 42:07SPEAKER_00: And when the enemies are all around, here's what you do.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: You have chicken spaghetti.
- 42:22SPEAKER_00: You eat.
- 42:25SPEAKER_00: This is why he set the table.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: But God, they're all around! He says, Come and enjoy.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: Come and eat.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: I think of those, remember those, I'm thinking of maybe those Western, some Western movies, you know, where they're having a saloon fight or a restaurant, and and it seems like I've seen a couple of them where somebody will be sitting down to eat, and all this fighting's going on all around, bodies are flying across the room and all that.
- 42:52SPEAKER_00: Somebody's eating, somebody will come slide across his table, and he'll just kick them off and he'll just keep eating.
- 43:01SPEAKER_00: Next time you're in a battle, next time you're surrounded by enemies, this is how you win.
- 43:08SPEAKER_00: The good shepherd brings you to peace.
- 43:15SPEAKER_00: He says, He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
- 43:20SPEAKER_00: He anoints my head with oil.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Hello, anointed ones.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: My cup runs over.
- 43:25SPEAKER_00: That's fullness.
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: No longer do we come to church and say, Here's my cup.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: Fill it up.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: After we just got it full last Sunday, we come back this week.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: No longer you show up when your cup is full.
- 43:41SPEAKER_00: I shall not want.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: That's tomorrow, the next day.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: From now until forever, that sound is your heaven.
- 43:59SPEAKER_00: And you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: Would y'all stand up?
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Bless you.
- 44:03SPEAKER_00: Did y'all hear anything tonight?
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: There's a certain sound.
- 44:09SPEAKER_00: That sound will always bring restoration to your soul.
- 44:12SPEAKER_00: And it's there with you all the time.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: And I want you to always just please incline your ear to it because it's there.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: And what you'll find out also is it's not that hard.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: People say, why is it hard to hear it?
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: Well, it gets easier.
- 44:28SPEAKER_00: One reason is at first because it's just so noisy right now.
- 44:32SPEAKER_00: But listen.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: Sometimes tell people, just stop for a bit.
- 44:36SPEAKER_00: Stop.
- 44:37SPEAKER_00: And listen.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Just listen.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: Give it a chance because he wants to lead you to steel waters.
- 44:48SPEAKER_00: Give it a chance.
- 44:49SPEAKER_00: And he'll bring you into peace, faith, and power, and joy.
- 44:53SPEAKER_00: For blessed are those that hear the joyful sound.
- 44:56SPEAKER_00: Well, Father, those that are standing here tonight, I'm impressed with your love for everyone here.
- 45:06SPEAKER_00: Father, we're so we're all just weak and foolish people.
- 45:08SPEAKER_00: You know our frame.
- 45:09SPEAKER_00: You know that we're but dust.
