- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Giving away your power, it's something we all do and we don't
- 0:33even realize it, we do it quite frequently.
- 0:35As a matter of fact, we do it nearly every day in one way or
- 0:39another, we give away our power. Now, if I ask that question to
- 0:43people, I say, do you think you give away your power?
- 0:45The typical answer I get is no, no, I don't, I don't do that but
- 0:49when you break down the minutiae of it and you realize what I
- 0:53mean, when I say that, you're going to be quite shocked about
- 0:56how much you do, give away your power.
- 0:58One of the biggest ways we do this is Is by letting people
- 1:01push our buttons and as my favorite mentor of all time, dr.
- 1:07Wayne Dyer, apparently Ravens, favorite mentor to.
- 1:12He used to say it's not their fault for pushing your buttons,
- 1:16it's your fault for having the buttons they push, and it
- 1:20couldn't be more true. If you allow people to get in
- 1:24your head, if you allow people to, you know, take up residency
- 1:29inside your head. Going to end up in a very
- 1:32difficult situation because you're not in charge anymore,
- 1:36they are in charge. So, you know, you all have heard
- 1:39me say this many times when emotions go up, intelligence
- 1:42goes down and that stands true. No matter what.
- 1:46When we are out of control with our emotions here, we are
- 1:50allowing other people to come into our head and have a grand
- 1:56situation of getting in there and telling us how we're going
- 1:59to feel and You know, if really if being happy is the most
- 2:03important thing and we are focused on being happy and we
- 2:06are focused on, you know, having our own level of Happiness, be
- 2:12the way we want to Trend. We have to pay attention to
- 2:15those emotions that we're having and residing in every day.
- 2:19So while you don't think, you give away your power, every time
- 2:22that you allow someone to upset you.
- 2:25And every time you allow someone to tell you how you are supposed
- 2:29to feel that is What happens you give up your power, you give up
- 2:33what you were supposed to be able to control.
- 2:36And we don't even realize we do it just happens.
- 2:39So this this today is all about you recognizing, how many times
- 2:45do you give up your power? How many times do you let?
- 2:48Somebody else get in your head and tell you how you're supposed
- 2:53to feel? And if you can track this, if
- 2:55you can keep track of what's happening.
- 2:57If you can look. And say, this is a place where
- 3:00By fall down, this is a place where, in the words of Gandhi,
- 3:04you know, he's to say, I refuse to allow anyone to walk through
- 3:07my mind with their dirty feet. It when you figure out who those
- 3:14people are with dirty feet, or in my analogy of the bus, you've
- 3:17let the nuts on the bus. You've pulled the bus over,
- 3:19you've, let people get on there, pushing your buttons and you
- 3:22lose your cool, your ability to organize, your thoughts, goes
- 3:25out the window, your ability to control your emotions, goes out
- 3:28the window and and And we're screwed in that moment and then
- 3:33all our powers gone because we don't have the power of choice.
- 3:38We have that power of reactivity going on and nothing is more
- 3:42important than keeping your power of choice and staying
- 3:45cool. Now, as human beings, this is
- 3:48probably one of the greatest challenges we have, we have to
- 3:52constantly constantly constantly work on this being able to pull
- 3:57our emotions back. We have to really sit there and
- 4:00say, how do I feel about this? We have to really stop ourselves
- 4:03from going down the rabbit hole so to speak and we're just not
- 4:08great at it. Let's face it, we're just not
- 4:11great at it. This is like going into the gym.
- 4:15It is mental Fitness. It is something you have to do
- 4:18every day. Every moment throughout your day
- 4:22and you just have to accept it. I have a lot of clients that
- 4:26will say to me, I'm so frustrated.
- 4:27I've been working on this for such a long time and It keeps
- 4:31coming back. Well, I want to congratulate
- 4:33you, that means you're alive and that means you have blood
- 4:36pumping through your veins. Your heart is beating your
- 4:39breathing, you're alive because that's what being human is all
- 4:42about. This is not about a destination
- 4:45of getting there and then having it fixed, this is about a
- 4:47journey of saying. This is what being alive is, you
- 4:50have to manage and pay attention to the direction that you are
- 4:55allowing your emotions to go regularly.
- 4:59And once you nail that one, You say, I accept that that's the
- 5:02case, then it becomes a lot easier.
- 5:04You stop getting wasting time, getting mad at yourself for
- 5:07losing it and then you regain it quicker because really the game
- 5:10is about saying I can regain myself quickly.
- 5:14It's not about saying I'll never lose it.
- 5:17It's about how quickly you were gain it.
- 5:19It's about how quickly, you know that the off that's a button
- 5:22Pusher. Ah, I know that there are
- 5:24certain things in my world that push my buttons and I can tell
- 5:29you as much as much as Worked on them.
- 5:31Over the years, they are still things that push my buttons.
- 5:34Listen, I grew up, I'm an only child.
- 5:35I don't handle teasing. Well, and I'll be the first one
- 5:38to admit. I don't like it because I didn't
- 5:40grow up with it. I didn't, I didn't have brothers
- 5:43and sisters, that did it. So, if my husband gets teasing
- 5:46with me, and he grew up with a brother and he is that person,
- 5:50he thinks it's okay. And it's fine and maybe it is,
- 5:53but it doesn't mean, it doesn't push my buttons.
- 5:55It doesn't mean it doesn't make me feel bad sometimes, and as
- 5:58much as I work on it, it's still something that That I have to
- 6:01work on. I've accepted that about myself,
- 6:03I've accepted it and I've recognized that I don't have to
- 6:07have a perfect track record with it.
- 6:10I can just be like, okay, I lost it.
- 6:12I can regain it. I can be in control about it
- 6:15again. I don't have to stay in a place
- 6:17where somebody else is pushing my emotions in a direction.
- 6:20Does that make sense to everybody?
- 6:22So don't be mad at yourself for it.
- 6:24Be happy for it because if you, if you feel that and you
- 6:27recognize it, then, guess what you caught it, and With this
- 6:31game is all about catching yourself as quickly as you
- 6:34possibly can. Instead of driving the bus off
- 6:37the road off the Ravine down into the water and drowning you
- 6:41say wait, wait, wait, I hear the clunk clunk, clunk clunk, clunk,
- 6:43clunk clunk of the driving off the road grids on the side?
- 6:46You know, and then you go up, let me drive back on the road
- 6:49and you catch yourself quickly. That's what this is about.
- 6:51Not going into the ravine. You're going to go off the road,
- 6:56just don't go so far. So, hopefully, this is helpful
- 6:59today. Hopefully, you don't give up
- 7:01your power too much today, hopefully you control who you
- 7:04let on your bus, hopefully, you stop.
- 7:06And say, you know what? I'm just going to drive the bus
- 7:08right by this crew because I don't want anything to do with
- 7:11this mess. That's I'm being presented with
- 7:14and you move forward. And I hope you guys have an
- 7:17incredibly blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 7:19Bye.
