- 0:00iHeart Country takes over the heart oft CMA Fest with a show we call iHeart
- 0:04Country House Party. It's inside Tequila Cowboy on the first floor, Jason Aldean's
- 0:08kitchen, rooftop bar. And the amount of artists that roll through Nashville,
- 0:12the amount of people in Nashville for CMA Fest, It's crazy. Hey Day
- 0:16one gives us George Burrs and Dylan Scott. Let's check in with those guys.
- 0:20Now, Well, my name is Tay Hamilton, my co host Waynedy
- 0:24and I do afternoons here on the big Night eight. Do we have any
- 0:26locals in the house? Okay? Okay? And then everybody else who's from
- 0:31out of town okay, Well listen, no matter where you're from, y'all,
- 0:36we are gearing up for such a big weekend here. Well, I'm
- 0:41really excited because this is our second year hosting iHeart Country House Party with our
- 0:45friends TC Restaurant Group and Tequila Cowboys. So welcome back, and I'm excited
- 0:51to bring out our very first guest of the weekend. Y'all give it up
- 0:55for George Burrs. Yeah, oh here, I'm not gonna miss a country
- 1:00house party with you guys. So I'm here. What's up everybody? Thanks
- 1:03for showing up, guys. What a crew. All right, so we're
- 1:07here at CMA Fest. What's what are some of your favorite memories from Cmafest.
- 1:12We have come a long way from my first CMA fist, from playing
- 1:18a stage for about ten people and just feeling glad to be part of the
- 1:21festival to this year. We're playing on the Riverfront stage on Saturday, so
- 1:26it is pretty cool and pretty nostalgic for me to be here see all the
- 1:29energy going on, and it's it's like a big reunion for country music.
- 1:32Everybody's finally in town because we live on the road, so all your buddies
- 1:34are in town. Everybody flew in to listen to country music. There's cold
- 1:38beer, the weather's perfect, it's I mean, it's hard not to have
- 1:41a good time. So when you're running into different people, is there somebody
- 1:45this year that you're hoping to run into? I mean, I'm always trying
- 1:49to run into George Strait somewhere at some point, but I don't think he's
- 1:53doing CMA festold But I'd say Jason Aldan's probably at the top of my list.
- 1:57But if you see me out getting routy. He's probably gonna be with
- 2:00my buddy Matt Still, that's like, that's my best buddy. So we're
- 2:01always, you know, walking around causing trouble somewhere. That'll be awesome.
- 2:06Well, congrats on your successful Mind on You song, I mean straight to
- 2:12number one first radio single. What does that feel like? It's your first
- 2:15one? Thank you guys. Yeah, hey, and let me just start
- 2:19by saying that doesn't happen without every single one of you. That's something that
- 2:23I've dreamed about my whole life, and it has completely changed my life,
- 2:25having my first number one. And I don't take that for granted for a
- 2:29day, because that doesn't happen without country music fans being the most incredible fans
- 2:32of the world, turning it up, requesting it, and making it part
- 2:36of the soundtrack of your life. So thank you guys so much. It
- 2:38means more than me than you'll ever know. And damn, it's pretty cool.
- 2:40I just hung the plaque on my wall. I got a big old
- 2:43plaque that says number one song on my wall, so that feels pretty cool.
- 2:46And we got a new one that's flying too, So I'm feeling very
- 2:51blessed these days. So now I want to ask you, because Mine on
- 2:53You was so crazy successful, do you kind of like feel the pressure for
- 2:59picking out like what's going to be the next single. I felt a huge
- 3:02amount of pressure when that song went number one, just because you got to
- 3:07go try to back it up, right, You've got a standard to meet
- 3:09now. But when I wrote my new single, Cowboy Songs, it eventually
- 3:14like just kind of took that pressure off my shoulders because it was exactly what
- 3:16I wanted to sound like. I love the way that it just felt like
- 3:20a party coming out of the speakers. And once I had written that song,
- 3:23I knew, no matter what, like, I feel good. I'm
- 3:25proud of this and I can't wait to put it out And it's actually moved
- 3:29even faster than Mind on You on the way up. So thank you guys
- 3:30so much for blowing it up. It's as excited as ever been about new
- 3:35music. I mean, you're geared up for a pretty exciting year. You're
- 3:38also going on the road with Sam Hunt. How did that come about?
- 3:43So yeah, this year has been like out of a movie for me.
- 3:46We went from playing you know, tiny bars with nobody in them to playing
- 3:51the biggest amphitheaters in America. We just wrapped up our last weekend with Parker
- 3:54McCollum last week, which was cool. A couple of Texas boys out.
- 3:57We did fifteen shows together. They were sold out every it was unbelievable.
- 4:00I was so thankful for the opportunity. And Sam actually heard the Mind on
- 4:04You remix and they reached out to my management and I had never met him
- 4:08before, and he said, hey, we like this song. We want
- 4:10to take you on tour. And I think that's one of the coolest things
- 4:12about Nashville is the superstars are always listening. They're always a paying attention and
- 4:15to give a guy like me a shot. We're gonna go play some of
- 4:17the biggest shows of my life all summer long, and I cannot wait to
- 4:19get to know him better. So it's gonna be a good time. That'll
- 4:21be awesome. Okay, So before we get to live music, I have
- 4:25one more question. Besides going on tour and working this summer, what's something
- 4:30else personally that you're looking forward to doing. I am taking my kids to
- 4:34the beach for a week for the fourth of July and I'm gonna sit in
- 4:38the sand and drink cold beer and do absolutely nothing. Yeah, they're gonna
- 4:42think it's a beached whale out there on the beach because I'm just I'm not
- 4:45moving. I'm stuck out there and I cannot wait. It's gonna be a
- 4:47good time. Yeah, it's well deserved. Y'all make some noise one more
- 4:51time for George Burrs. The party continues at Tequila Cowboys in downtown Nashville with
- 4:57iHeart Country and he's a special guest, Dylan Scot. Thank you for showing
- 5:00up to our iHeart Country House Party. My name is Brick Taylor. I'm
- 5:03the host of the midday show at the Big ninety eight. You can hear
- 5:06iHeart Country House Party on the Big ninety eight Saturday nights and everywhere on the
- 5:11free iHeartRadio app. But y'all make some noise for Dylan Scott. We'll seap
- 5:20everybody. You're gonna ask some juicy questions or what listen. I'm gonna leave
- 5:28the juicy questions to the fans, all right, sucy questions. I always
- 5:32love cmafest so much because you really get these intimate moments with fans that you
- 5:36usually don't get to have it shows. Yeah, we don't get to do
- 5:39this very much, you know, so I think it's cool. I think
- 5:41it's cooler. Body travels in from all over to see all their favorite artists,
- 5:45and we get to play really cool shows like this, and you know
- 5:47the fact that they do it in the heat of Nashville this time of year.
- 5:51Y'all. Y'all are real fans. Who's been sweating today? H anybody
- 5:55sweating? Yeah, make sure you grab some of those Ihart country house party
- 6:00fans on the way out. They're gonna save your life later today. I
- 6:03gotta say, I got baby number two on the way. Come on.
- 6:05You are one of my favorite dads to follow on social media because I feel
- 6:09like you're such a present dad. You're really good at balancing work, live
- 6:13stuff. At least you show it on Instagra. Yeah, I keep it
- 6:15real, you know so. I just realized, man, I dreamed about
- 6:19playing music my whole life, and then when when I came to daddy,
- 6:21I was like, you know what, being a daddy's the coolest thing in
- 6:25the world, and so I do. I try to give as much time
- 6:27as I can to my kids when I'm home, and I love how honest
- 6:30you are. I know you posted I think it was a couple of weeks
- 6:31ago, something about waking up in the morning you're just not feeling it today,
- 6:35and you're like, but I'm just too blessed to be stressed. Yeah,
- 6:39you share those real moments. Yeah we are. We're all too blessed
- 6:42to be stressed, you know. But we're all we all get down sometimes.
- 6:45And that day, I don't even know what the problem was. There
- 6:46really was no problem at all. I think I was just tired, you
- 6:48know, That's usually how it goes. It's just like you need a little
- 6:50bit more sleep, right, No doubt we all need that. How are
- 6:54the babies. Are they doing well? Babies are great. My son's playing
- 6:57baseball, my girls in gymnastics, and I got to month old. That's
- 7:00just eating and doing nothing up, pooping and eating. That's all he's doing.
- 7:04Yeah, that's what they're good at. Okay, the transition from one
- 7:06to two, tell me about that, because that's what I'm about to deal
- 7:09with. From one to two. It was a little transition, you know,
- 7:13but it was you. You fall right into it, it's no big
- 7:15deal. And then after that it's just you can have seventeen kids it is
- 7:18what it is. Okay, I'm gonna pass on the seventeen kids. You
- 7:23can get your on TV show if you do that. That's a fact.
- 7:25Maybe that's the way to go. Maybe that's my my get rich quick scheme
- 7:28right there. Just keep having babies, all right, think about your questions
- 7:30here in the front row here in just a second. Okay, so you
- 7:32have one already. What is that you got? It's y'all's twenty fifth anniversary.
- 7:39Congratulate. Happy anniversary, y'all, Happy anniversary to those upfront, y'all.
- 7:44Just spend it here at CMA fest. Y'all are some brave souls,
- 7:47man, brave souls? What you got? Oh? My wife, there's
- 7:55no question you're demanding something from me right now? Yeah, yeah, right,
- 8:03yes, her baby's obsessed with Dylan. You filming right now? Bailey?
- 8:15I love you. You should be here, but your mama didn't bring
- 8:18you, so throw me bai. Oh my goodness. All right, we
- 8:24got to talk about new music real quick, because June twenty first, you're
- 8:28releasing this new song. Tell us about I Owe you one. I Owe
- 8:31you one, brand new song coming this month. I didn't write this song,
- 8:35but when it was sent to me. It just spoke to me,
- 8:37you know. I mean, like you said earlier, I'm very blessed.
- 8:41I'm very blessed in a lot of different ways. And I feel like I
- 8:43owe a lot of people that, from my hometown to you guys, to
- 8:48radio, to my family. So yeah, it's kind of an ow to
- 8:50everybody. Like man, I'm so grateful and I owe y'all one. Thank
- 8:52you. What are you looking forward to most about twenty twenty four? We're
- 8:56halfway through what's coming? What's coming down the pipeline. We're out with coleswin
- 9:00Dale right now on tour, so we got quite a few dates left with
- 9:03him, and then we're playing our own shows. And then I got I
- 9:05got more music coming that. I'm pretty fired up about it. Anybody else
- 9:09excited for new music from Dylan Scott? We all want new music? Heck
- 9:13yes, all right, Well I'm gonna get out of the way because you
- 9:16guys are here to see him, not me, So y'all make were do
- 9:18this together. I mean, listen, noll, I don't want to hear
- 9:22me say. I'll tell you that background vote. I don't know if I
- 9:24could keep up seven months pregnant. I'll be out of breath by verse two.
