- 0:00Speaker 1: Time out for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balance Life Chiropractic. And we have doctor Harley and we're
- 0:04Speaker 1: going through bone by bone and we're going to start
- 0:07Speaker 1: with the top and work our way down. And we
- 0:09Speaker 1: learned a little something about C one last week and
- 0:11Speaker 1: today let me guess C two.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we are going to talk about C two.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Look at me, Hey, you're learning. I am So the
- 0:19Speaker 3: C two is right below the CE one. That's all.
- 0:22Speaker 3: I know. What else should we know?
- 0:23Speaker 2: It's also called axis, So the top two bones in
- 0:26Speaker 2: our neck have different names, and it makes sense when
- 0:29Speaker 2: you look at what they do. So we have atlas,
- 0:31Speaker 2: which is the top we talked about that, yeah, and axis,
- 0:34Speaker 2: well that's what C one pivots around. So all our
- 0:37Speaker 2: upper head motion rotation comes from those two.
- 0:41Speaker 3: So those are very important.
- 0:42Speaker 2: They're very very important.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yes, would you say that's where you see a lot
- 0:46Speaker 1: of the issues. Is it kind of more so than
- 0:49Speaker 1: all of the rest or more than it's fair share
- 0:52Speaker 1: at least?
- 0:52Speaker 2: I would say definitely more than it's fair share, for sure,
- 0:55Speaker 2: just because of that mobility aspect, it's a lot easier
- 0:58Speaker 2: for them to move and get, you know, thinking about
- 1:01Speaker 2: your day to day. How your position posture plays a
- 1:04Speaker 2: big factor how we sleep. Sleep with your head crank
- 1:07Speaker 2: to one side, it makes sense that you're gonna probably
- 1:09Speaker 2: made some more upper cervical upper neck type issues, and
- 1:12Speaker 2: there's just so much movement there that it can make
- 1:15Speaker 2: it work gets locked up real easily.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So and we as we look at the C two
- 1:18Speaker 1: and the areas, see I got a charge to look
- 1:20Speaker 1: at it. I don't know any of this stuff, but
- 1:22Speaker 1: in the areas I see there's a lot of things
- 1:24Speaker 1: that again, these things seem very common.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Very much so. So C two actually goes back up
- 1:30Speaker 2: indoor heads. So C two sits about kind of right
- 1:32Speaker 2: underneath our ear lobe kind of area. So those nerves
- 1:35Speaker 2: actually go back up indoorhead and they help control the eyes,
- 1:39Speaker 2: the optic nerves, the auditory nerves, which are your hearing nerves,
- 1:43Speaker 2: the sinuses, the mastoid bones, and the tongue in the forehead.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I got on that question. What is a mastoid bone
- 1:49Speaker 3: that sounds like a dinosaur.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So if you feel right behind your ear, there's kind
- 1:53Speaker 2: of that bump there, Yeah, that's the mastoid area. So
- 1:56Speaker 2: they're actually hollow because it helps lower the weight of
- 1:59Speaker 2: our skull didn't have some hollow areas in our skull
- 2:01Speaker 2: are still be way even more.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I've been accused of having a hollow skull a lot.
- 2:05Speaker 3: So you say I have a big masteroid. That's all so,
- 2:08Speaker 3: and what are some of the effects. Then if I
- 2:09Speaker 3: have some issues with.
- 2:10Speaker 2: My C two, so we can have some sinish issues, allergies.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I'm kind of calm in this type of visual issues. Deafness,
- 2:18Speaker 2: my troubles, earaches, fainting or dizzy spells are come of
- 2:23Speaker 2: some big ones with the ear.
- 2:24Speaker 3: So this is some I know it you had with
- 2:28Speaker 3: with the C two. Yeah, there you So.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was pulling on my ear issue with saying that,
- 2:32Speaker 1: So it's probably wondering why is he doing that, because
- 2:34Speaker 1: now I was feeling the bone back.
- 2:36Speaker 3: There is what I'm doing.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But so this is something again, a lot of people
- 2:39Speaker 1: probably experience some of this some of the time. So
- 2:42Speaker 1: if I'm experienced some of these things, that doesn't necessarily
- 2:44Speaker 1: mean it's a C two, but there's a pretty good
- 2:46Speaker 1: chance that could be something connected to it.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Very true. Yeah, that's very very good opportunity for that.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We see C two a lot with kids, especially with
- 2:54Speaker 2: ear infections.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I was going to ask if this is
- 2:56Speaker 1: more prevalent in certain ages. So is this something that like,
- 3:00Speaker 1: do you grow out of ear infections or you can
- 3:03Speaker 1: continue to have those for the rest of your life.
- 3:05Speaker 2: We do kind of grow out of them because we
- 3:07Speaker 2: have to think about the way these we're called them.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You know, they're called the U station tubes, and that
- 3:11Speaker 2: is the drainage tube from the inner ear to the
- 3:14Speaker 2: back of the throat.
- 3:15Speaker 3: There by my mastoid bone.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Not quite, but they're more inside your skull. So as
- 3:20Speaker 2: children are you station tubes. They are actually horizontal. They're
- 3:23Speaker 2: like parallel to the ground, and as we age they
- 3:27Speaker 2: actually start to point downward. So when we're children, they
- 3:30Speaker 2: don't drain very well because they're horizontal, so they drain
- 3:32Speaker 2: a lot better as we older, So we do see
- 3:34Speaker 2: less ear infections as we get older.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Very very cool.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So if somebody listening is going, Okay, I know I've
- 3:39Speaker 1: got siginus issues, I've got allergies, I guess some visual things,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and they want to come and see if hey, maybe
- 3:44Speaker 1: my C two needs a little help. That would be
- 3:47Speaker 1: a good place to start. But how do they connect
- 3:49Speaker 1: with you. What's the best place, the best way to
- 3:51Speaker 1: connect with you to get on the schedule and actually
- 3:53Speaker 1: talk to you about it.
