- 0:00Speaker 1: Trek the Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Hey, this is Daniel Trek Cast.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Guys.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We got a really great interview for you. Next, we
- 0:24Speaker 2: got to talk to Morgan Jay. He's known as the
- 0:29Speaker 2: Auto Tune comedian. He's got millions and millions of followers
- 0:33Speaker 2: on TikTok and Instagram, selling out all over the world
- 0:37Speaker 2: with his comedy shows. Also goes by the Goofy Gang
- 0:40Speaker 2: or Goofy Gang. But yeah, man, he was such an
- 0:44Speaker 2: awesome dude to talk to. Big Star Trek fan. I
- 0:47Speaker 2: think you're gonna like this interview, so I hope you enjoy.
- 0:50Speaker 1: It's been actually been a while since I've had a
- 0:53Speaker 1: chance to uh uh, you know, to have some time
- 0:58Speaker 1: to talk about it. You know. Right now though, I
- 1:00Speaker 1: am watching The Foundation as the sci fi show I'm watching.
- 1:04Speaker 1: They have a new season. Okay, there's a new season
- 1:06Speaker 1: of Foundation out. Yeah, the season three is it's on now. Yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I am man. I do like si if I've watched
- 1:16Speaker 1: the expanse Battlestar Galactica, you know obviously Rick and Morty
- 1:23Speaker 1: if you want to put that in the I love
- 1:25Speaker 1: lower Decks. I'm sad that they canceled it. I actually
- 1:29Speaker 1: moderated there was this There was a convention in Chicago
- 1:33Speaker 1: back in twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three. Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: so I moderated the Lower Decks panel. I moderated the
- 1:47Speaker 1: Discovery panel, okay, and then I also moderated the one
- 1:55Speaker 1: with Wesley. Why am I forgetting his? Why am I
- 1:59Speaker 1: forgetting the actors all of a sudden? Yeah, well, Wheaton.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I moderated his panel, although I didn't really much as
- 2:05Speaker 1: moderate it because before we went out there, he just
- 2:09Speaker 1: was like, look, talk to me for like literally two minutes,
- 2:13Speaker 1: and then we're just gonna do questions the rest of it,
- 2:15Speaker 1: because I think he's done them a bunch, and I
- 2:18Speaker 1: guess he'd I guess for he realized like it's just
- 2:20Speaker 1: better for him to uh just field as many questions
- 2:24Speaker 1: as he can, you know, yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I didn't know. I didn't know you were
- 2:28Speaker 2: such a big fan. I know you like liked a
- 2:31Speaker 2: few of our memes, and yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I do like the memes, dude, I do like
- 2:35Speaker 1: although they haven't popped up recently as much. But then again,
- 2:39Speaker 1: back in November, I went and I like literally unfollowed
- 2:42Speaker 1: everybody because my I just there was just too much
- 2:44Speaker 1: going on, you know, and so uh I just had
- 2:48Speaker 1: to like clean house and like slowly out people back,
- 2:50Speaker 1: you know. Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I do that every now and then too. Sometimes you
- 2:54Speaker 2: need that cleanse.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, man, it's uh, it's cool to beer,
- 2:57Speaker 1: so I appreciate it. I might even you guys. Did
- 2:59Speaker 1: you guys have a booth at the the Did you
- 3:02Speaker 1: have a booth at the festival? There was a podcast
- 3:05Speaker 1: There was a podcast that had a booth there set up,
- 3:08Speaker 1: but I forget what the name of it was.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Yeah. No, Actually our show, that was the first time
- 3:12Speaker 2: me and the other co host met each other in person.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay cool? Yeah yeah great.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because we're all in different birds of the country.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So, yeah, where are you based out of it?
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'm in North Idaho. Wow, we have electricity.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Is it beautiful up there?
- 3:27Speaker 2: It's gorgeous.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I do I do be hearing things about Idaho? Yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I do be hearing things about Idaho.
- 3:33Speaker 2: The nearest big city of Spokane if you've.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Been there, Oh yeah, I've been there. I didn't like it,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but Idaho must be nice. Yeah, Spokane had a big
- 3:43Speaker 1: meth energy to it.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Ah. Yeah, that's accurate.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It had big math energy. I hate to say that,
- 3:49Speaker 1: but it had big math energy. You know what's interesting,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I it's funny because we're on the Trek cast. I
- 3:56Speaker 1: will try to relate this to Star Trek even though
- 4:00Speaker 1: this is what truck casts. The Next Generation? Are we
- 4:02Speaker 1: talking about TNG or are we just talking about any
- 4:06Speaker 1: It's like the theme, right, I am like the next generation?
- 4:09Speaker 2: So weird thinking about our show. Our show used to
- 4:11Speaker 2: be hosted by some other guys for a long time.
- 4:14Speaker 2: They gave up the show, and then we as fans
- 4:16Speaker 2: of the other the original podcast, took over. So we're
- 4:21Speaker 2: the next generation.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yeah, oh wonderful, Okay, yeah, amazing. Yeah, because I was
- 4:26Speaker 1: likening it to jj Abrams's third Star Trek that came
- 4:31Speaker 1: out with with Chris Pine. Remember he like doesn't know
- 4:34Speaker 1: what He's like confused and he's like doesn't know what
- 4:37Speaker 1: he's doing out there, and like what do we We're
- 4:39Speaker 1: just going planet to plan at place to place, Like
- 4:42Speaker 1: I feel untethered and lost and like why do we
- 4:44Speaker 1: even do this? It honestly kind of feels like that, man,
- 4:48Speaker 1: because I just did I just did twenty Cities. You're
- 4:51Speaker 1: in a different hotel, every other night, a different flight,
- 4:55Speaker 1: a different language, a different city, and you're doing these
- 5:00Speaker 1: shows and you're kind of like on the same mission
- 5:02Speaker 1: every city, and you're kind of like, you know, I
- 5:05Speaker 1: don't even feel I don't feel tethered to my own
- 5:08Speaker 1: home anymore. I live in Los Angeles, you know, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: I spend probably this year, I'll probably spend at least
- 5:14Speaker 1: two hundred days out of the year not in Los Angeles. Wow.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: And so then you kind of get into this like
- 5:22Speaker 1: where do I live? Why does the pillow on my uh,
- 5:27Speaker 1: why does the why does the bed in the hotel
- 5:29Speaker 1: feel more like home than home does? Because you just
- 5:31Speaker 1: get used to this lifestyle. But I would also like
- 5:36Speaker 1: to say I'm not complaining. I'm just saying that, like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I think every job has an occupational hazard, and I
- 5:43Speaker 1: think for me, it's just like travel fatigue, possibly getting
- 5:48Speaker 1: sick on the road, and fans, you know, coming up
- 5:52Speaker 1: to you randomly to ask for photos that I think
- 5:54Speaker 1: those are like my main occupational hazards. I think, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: is that it's.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Hard to deal with when people come up to you
- 6:02Speaker 2: randomly or.
- 6:03Speaker 1: No, at the moment, it isn't. However, in the last
- 6:07Speaker 1: month or two I have. I guess I kind of
- 6:09Speaker 1: underestimated my popularity. I think I've been doing this so
- 6:11Speaker 1: long with the little attention that this last year or
- 6:16Speaker 1: two has been kind of bizarre. So I was in
- 6:18Speaker 1: New York, even like a week or two ago, and
- 6:21Speaker 1: I was in I was I was at the bar
- 6:25Speaker 1: on the top of the hotel, and it only took
- 6:27Speaker 1: like less than a minute for somebody to come up
- 6:29Speaker 1: to me and say something. And then after that, once
- 6:33Speaker 1: one person takes a photo with me, other people are like,
- 6:36Speaker 1: oh my god, that is the guy. That is the guy,
- 6:38Speaker 1: and they realize I am a nice person. So then
- 6:41Speaker 1: everybody kind of feels comfortable to take a photo with me,
- 6:44Speaker 1: And that's fine. But if I'm with somebody like a
- 6:49Speaker 1: significant other perhaps or a family member, and then it's
- 6:54Speaker 1: like person after person after person that could go on
- 6:57Speaker 1: for you know, a minimum ten minutes, maybe twenty, you
- 6:59Speaker 1: know and know how long it goes on. So then
- 7:03Speaker 1: at that point it becomes like annoying, annoying for my
- 7:06Speaker 1: friends or whoever is with me. For me, I don't mind,
- 7:10Speaker 1: because I really do appreciate my fans, but uh, I
- 7:13Speaker 1: mean one time I was like facetiming my mom in
- 7:15Speaker 1: an airport and a guy came up to me and
- 7:17Speaker 1: I go, hey, man, yeah, that's great, we'll take a photo.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Just keep let me just finish this conversation up with
- 7:21Speaker 1: my mom and then if you still want to wait,
- 7:23Speaker 1: I'll do the photo with you. But I just gotta
- 7:25Speaker 1: finish talking to her, you know. So I try to
- 7:27Speaker 1: be polite about it at the but I wouldn't say
- 7:29Speaker 1: it really bothers me yet because that's that's again, that's
- 7:33Speaker 1: kind of part of the job, you know.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I was watching some past interviews with you,
- 7:40Speaker 2: and you were talking about how long you've worked at it,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and so to get to this level, now, that's got
- 7:46Speaker 2: to be you didn't really think.
- 7:47Speaker 1: About or no I thought. I mean, I have friends
- 7:51Speaker 1: who are famous, and you know they they told me
- 7:53Speaker 1: the same thing. They're like, you know, having money is nice,
- 7:57Speaker 1: but you lose your and non and nanimity. Why can't
- 8:03Speaker 1: I say that word on a nanimity anonymity, you lose that.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But again, occupational hazard, there are worse. I mean, another
- 8:18Speaker 1: side effect of my job as people are trying to
- 8:21Speaker 1: like give me a lot of free things, you know,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and I'm starting to like say it because it's funny,
- 8:27Speaker 1: like the minute you can afford these things, people want
- 8:29Speaker 1: to give them to you for free. And it's like,
- 8:31Speaker 1: why couldn't you give this to me when I needed it?
- 8:33Speaker 1: You know? And and you know, I lived out of
- 8:36Speaker 1: it the last three months. I've lived out of a suitcase,
- 8:39Speaker 1: and I had like five outfits. And then I got
- 8:44Speaker 1: back to LA and I looked at my closet and
- 8:46Speaker 1: I just had a closet full of clothes of things
- 8:49Speaker 1: that like I'll never wear, and I just was like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: what am I doing? So I went through and got
- 8:54Speaker 1: rid of about half of it. I'm going to give it,
- 8:56Speaker 1: give it away to good will and stuff like that,
- 8:57Speaker 1: because it's just like it's ancessy, it's a unnecessary you know,
- 9:01Speaker 1: I'd give away more. Honestly. If if it was like
- 9:04Speaker 1: socially acceptable to wear like the same three things every day,
- 9:06Speaker 1: I think you actually, I think that is acceptable.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I mean, isn't that what Einstein did?
- 9:09Speaker 1: You had like the same out there, and yeah him
- 9:11Speaker 1: and Steve Jobs, and yeah, yeah, what the fuck am
- 9:13Speaker 1: I doing? Just wear the same shit every day?
- 9:16Speaker 2: There you go.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Anyway, Uh, either way, it's it's been. It's been quite
- 9:21Speaker 1: the journey, and I've learned a lot and I'm really
- 9:23Speaker 1: enjoying it and just trying to always remind myself that
- 9:26Speaker 1: I am living the dream that I had thought of
- 9:30Speaker 1: for myself. You know, so I always think about that, right.
- 9:36Speaker 2: That's that's a that's a good way to put it. Like,
- 9:40Speaker 2: I was watching some of your your past interviews and
- 9:42Speaker 2: you're reflecting a lot about that. And one thing that
- 9:45Speaker 2: really stood out to me was that you kept talking
- 9:47Speaker 2: about being your your fan first.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I talk about that all the time. Yeah, man, you
- 9:52Speaker 1: got to be your first fan. You've got to create
- 9:54Speaker 1: a show that you like, that you would watch, that
- 9:56Speaker 1: you would buy a ticket to, because you know, ultimately
- 10:01Speaker 1: it is all up to you, you know what I
- 10:03Speaker 1: mean to uh to like, uh, You're gonna have to
- 10:08Speaker 1: do that for the rest of your life, you know.
- 10:10Speaker 1: So that's kind of how I see it.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I know that makes sense to me. Yeah, But
- 10:16Speaker 2: you know, one thing I was thinking about some Star
- 10:18Speaker 2: Trek questions for you too. Well we were, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 2: getting ready for this, and one thing I was thinking
- 10:24Speaker 2: about was, you know, Star Trek has a big history
- 10:27Speaker 2: of putting comedians.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sorry, there was a focal thing. Yeah.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Uh, Sargy has a big history of penning comedians in
- 10:35Speaker 2: their show. Right. They had like Joe pesci on back
- 10:39Speaker 2: in the day with Data, Yeah, they had recently they
- 10:43Speaker 2: got what's her name tig.
- 10:48Speaker 1: On Discovery, right. Yeah, Yeah, that was an interesting that
- 10:52Speaker 1: was interesting. I auditioned for the new movie was it?
- 10:57Speaker 1: Section thirty section thirty one?
- 10:59Speaker 2: You A?
- 11:01Speaker 1: I auditioned for the role of Zephyr. Okay, and and
- 11:05Speaker 1: I auditioned for that, and I I even like, I
- 11:11Speaker 1: have my little card on vacation in Riza figure out,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and you know, I didn't want to come on too
- 11:19Speaker 1: strong at the audition. I want to be like extra thirsty.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But I and I met with the production company and
- 11:25Speaker 1: I just was like, you know, if there's any opportunity
- 11:28Speaker 1: for me to be in a show somehow, like I
- 11:31Speaker 1: would love to be considered obviously, like I understand, you
- 11:34Speaker 1: know how this works. I've been in this business for
- 11:36Speaker 1: a while, and that role of Zephyr. I read it
- 11:39Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, no, this isn't for me,
- 11:42Speaker 1: you know, but that's that's okay. But yeah, man, it's
- 11:46Speaker 1: it's it's it's all good stuff. I started watching Star
- 11:50Speaker 1: Trek believe it or not, like a year or two actually,
- 11:56Speaker 1: like before the pandemic. Okay, so you didn't grow up
- 11:59Speaker 1: with I didn't obviously, Like I saw it on TV,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and I saw TG in passing UH and Voyager on TV,
- 12:08Speaker 1: but in Deep Space nine, which arguably might be I
- 12:11Speaker 1: think in some respects sometimes better than UH TNG because
- 12:17Speaker 1: it's like I think, it's just like touched on a
- 12:20Speaker 1: lot of really serious themes, you know, yeah, and and
- 12:25Speaker 1: it just it just did things that like other shows
- 12:27Speaker 1: never did, right, you know. So. But but also who
- 12:32Speaker 1: doesn't love, you know, our main man here, you know,
- 12:37Speaker 1: he's just he's books. He just wants to read his
- 12:42Speaker 1: books and play his little flute and wear his skimpy
- 12:46Speaker 1: little pajamas. I see you, Captain Picard, wearing your weird
- 12:52Speaker 1: deep V cut satin pajamas. You sexy old man.
- 12:57Speaker 2: You.
- 12:58Speaker 1: That show is interesting too because it was like for
- 13:00Speaker 1: them to cast a captain that old, I think at
- 13:04Speaker 1: the time was like a very risky move, you know
- 13:07Speaker 1: what I mean, they didn't want to cast and I
- 13:10Speaker 1: had started watching it at that time because they just
- 13:12Speaker 1: became all available on Netflix, like all of TG had
- 13:16Speaker 1: become available, so TG was my entry point, and then
- 13:21Speaker 1: I slowly went through all the series.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Did you just like watch them all in order or just.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Like, yeah, no, I just watched them all in order. Well,
- 13:28Speaker 1: I started with TG, then I went to Voyager, then
- 13:32Speaker 1: I went to DS nine, and then I actually went
- 13:36Speaker 1: to Forgive Me the One, the One, Enterprise, Oh yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 1: and then I went to Enterprise, which I honestly like,
- 13:49Speaker 1: I didn't think that was that bad, to be honest
- 13:52Speaker 1: with you. I thought it was cool. And then obviously,
- 13:56Speaker 1: like the new stuff that's come out has been really great,
- 13:59Speaker 1: and I thought, I think there's a new season of
- 14:02Speaker 1: Strange New Worlds coming out this way in fact or tonight.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Maybe No, it just started last week, so did it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, Well, I think what I'm gonna do is
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna keep watching Foundation and then once the episode
- 14:15Speaker 1: stack up for Strange New Worlds, I will go there
- 14:18Speaker 1: because I'm gonna be doing a lot of traveling, so
- 14:20Speaker 1: it'll be nice to have these shows. Yeah, you know,
- 14:23Speaker 1: but uh, that's kind of how it started. And it
- 14:26Speaker 1: was just like Star Trek is just like a very
- 14:29Speaker 1: cozy show. Yeah, you know, every episode for the most
- 14:33Speaker 1: part is tied up in a nice little bow. I
- 14:36Speaker 1: did find. You ever find sometimes you're watching an episode
- 14:38Speaker 1: and then like within the last like thirty seconds, it
- 14:41Speaker 1: gets resolved. Like you don't because I feel like they
- 14:44Speaker 1: ran out of time or something.
- 14:46Speaker 2: You know, Yeah, they're like, oh, we gotta wrap this up,
- 14:47Speaker 2: we gotta wrap this up.
- 14:49Speaker 1: You know. I always found that to be pretty funny.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And then just some of the episodes were like you
- 14:55Speaker 1: hear stories about them, like not having enough budget for
- 14:58Speaker 1: something right, Like there was that I think it was
- 15:00Speaker 1: the end of season two or three of TG where
- 15:03Speaker 1: Will Riker, Uh he was just he's like, just has
- 15:06Speaker 1: flashbacks the whole episode, and it was like they just
- 15:10Speaker 1: had no money left for the season.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's funny. Yeah.
- 15:15Speaker 1: So uh yeah.
- 15:17Speaker 2: No. I was gonna ask, since you've been through all
- 15:19Speaker 2: of them, like, do you have favorite characters or ones
- 15:22Speaker 2: that resonate with you?
- 15:24Speaker 1: You know, I always really love any Vulcan in the show, Tuvac.
- 15:29Speaker 1: I really love Tuvac, and Voyager I thought he was
- 15:32Speaker 1: really great. I just love the idea of all the
- 15:36Speaker 1: non emotional characters like struggling to be emotional. You know,
- 15:39Speaker 1: seven of nine tu Voc Data Data, even Spock in
- 15:45Speaker 1: the new series, Like I always I always find that,
- 15:47Speaker 1: like I think, I think that resonates with me because
- 15:50Speaker 1: like I grew up in an immigrant household and we
- 15:52Speaker 1: didn't really like express a lot of emotion. Yeah, because
- 15:56Speaker 1: my mom moved here from Brazil. And I'm just like
- 15:59Speaker 1: putting this together now, but my mom moved here from Brazil,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and uh, you know, it was like work, work, work, work, work,
- 16:05Speaker 1: and trying to build a better life for her and
- 16:07Speaker 1: her family. So there wasn't really time to like, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 1: feel emotions or move through these.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Or if you did have emotions, you don't know how
- 16:17Speaker 2: bad we had it.
- 16:18Speaker 1: So yeah, one hundred percent. Are you are you child
- 16:21Speaker 1: of an immigrant?
- 16:22Speaker 2: I am Mexican.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so yeah, you know how it is. It's like, yeah,
- 16:26Speaker 1: I came here with a suitcase and I slept on
- 16:27Speaker 1: the floor and you're like, yeah, I guess you're right.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I guess it's not so bad for me. I guess
- 16:33Speaker 1: I have no reason to like complain about this or
- 16:35Speaker 1: that or the other. So oh do you see the
- 16:37Speaker 1: little uh I see it, Yeah, I see, but uh
- 16:43Speaker 1: but yeah, but I think that's kind of why I
- 16:44Speaker 1: really like those characters. You know, Yeah, I thought Data
- 16:49Speaker 1: was really great and uh in a lot of the
- 16:52Speaker 1: movies too, when uh, what was the one with with
- 16:55Speaker 1: with the movie with Whoopie Goldberg where they're like in
- 16:59Speaker 1: the Nexus.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Oh oh yeah, what's his name?
- 17:04Speaker 1: From Blade Runner Insurrection. Yeah, I thought that was cool too.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I like the movies, you know, I just I just
- 17:12Speaker 1: felt you know, the reason I like Star Trek is
- 17:14Speaker 1: because like every episode is thematically like very different, and uh,
- 17:19Speaker 1: you know, like Star Wars, I just felt like everything
- 17:23Speaker 1: was the same. Like every chapter of Star Wars, it
- 17:26Speaker 1: was like the Force, the good and the evil one
- 17:29Speaker 1: fighting the other. But we're like Star Trek would like,
- 17:32Speaker 1: you know, mirror something ethically going on. Like even when
- 17:34Speaker 1: you take that episode like the measure of a Man
- 17:36Speaker 1: with Data where you know is I mean, I feel
- 17:40Speaker 1: like that's so relevant now right with Ai and like
- 17:44Speaker 1: and they're like finding ways to communicate with each other
- 17:46Speaker 1: and like do we shut it down? Like at what
- 17:48Speaker 1: point is this?
- 17:49Speaker 3: You know?
- 17:50Speaker 1: And so is it alive or not? And it's like
- 17:54Speaker 1: these are themes that are still relevant, you know what
- 17:56Speaker 1: I'm saying. And that's why I always thought it was
- 17:59Speaker 1: really it was superior to Star Wars. I will however,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I will say and or is really really good. I
- 18:08Speaker 1: think I think the one the reasons why it is
- 18:10Speaker 1: so good because it has nothing to do with the
- 18:13Speaker 1: Jedi or good and evil. It's like, you know, it's
- 18:16Speaker 1: like mirroring things that are happening right now. You know.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Isn't it funny to hear isn't it funny to like
- 18:23Speaker 1: see people talk about Like, guys, if you've watched Star
- 18:26Speaker 1: Wars and like you are, if you're on the side
- 18:30Speaker 1: of you know, the Empire. You know what I'm saying,
- 18:33Speaker 1: Like what's going on right now? And like, you know,
- 18:35Speaker 1: disappearing people and this, yeah, kind of if you've watched
- 18:39Speaker 1: those movies and got nothing, like didn't realize what was
- 18:42Speaker 1: going on, and you can't see it reflected in modern times,
- 18:47Speaker 1: it's like something is terribly wrong with you.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Absolutely so well. I was gonna ask you when we
- 18:56Speaker 2: were talking about, like you auditioning for roles in Star Trek,
- 19:00Speaker 2: would you ideally want to do a Star Trek? Uh?
- 19:06Speaker 1: You know what, I wouldn't mind having a role like
- 19:10Speaker 1: who was that There was a in Deep Space nine
- 19:14Speaker 1: there was a recurring character. He was like a old
- 19:18Speaker 1: school mob singer that would show up. Do you remember
- 19:21Speaker 1: that Vic? And I saw Vic Fontage and I saw
- 19:26Speaker 1: some interviews with him talking about you know that role.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I mean, that'd be kind of a cool, like recurring
- 19:31Speaker 1: guest star that comes up every once in a while.
- 19:33Speaker 1: If they could mirror something like that, I wouldn't mind
- 19:36Speaker 1: being that guy in the show, you know, maybe the
- 19:39Speaker 1: recurring comedian. If I had like a character, like a
- 19:44Speaker 1: serious series regular on the bridge type or in the
- 19:49Speaker 1: engineering room.
- 19:50Speaker 3: My.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Yes. The thing, my only wish is that I would
- 19:54Speaker 1: never have to go through any sort of long, strenuous makeup.
- 19:59Speaker 1: My partner, she is a special effects makeup artist, and
- 20:02Speaker 1: we have watched the shows and she just was like, look,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I know in theory you'd want to be on Star Trek,
- 20:07Speaker 1: but I promise you, like, you're not gonna want to be,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you know, like an alien. You know you're not gonna
- 20:15Speaker 1: want to do that because you're gonna have to sit
- 20:16Speaker 1: in that you have to get there earlier, sit in
- 20:17Speaker 1: the chair longer, and it's going to be a pain
- 20:20Speaker 1: in the ass. So ideally I would love to book
- 20:23Speaker 1: like a Cydeboard role, maybe minim minimal prosthetics and minimal makeup.
- 20:29Speaker 1: That'd be an ideal role. I don't care what it
- 20:31Speaker 1: would be, but a minimal role or maybe like a
- 20:34Speaker 1: smuggler would be fun to be like a smuggler in
- 20:36Speaker 1: the show.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they had on stranging worlds. They had a in
- 20:40Speaker 2: the first season there was that Captain Angel. They were
- 20:43Speaker 2: like pirates, like maybe part of our cre or something.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that could be cool. Yeah so that that would
- 20:49Speaker 1: be good. But uh, yeah, that'd be fun. That'd be fun.
- 20:53Speaker 1: We'll see. That's all. It could it could, It could happen.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Man could happen?
- 20:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it could. It sounds like it could.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You know, It's in the realm of possibility. I'm already
- 21:00Speaker 1: in a couple of TV shows and movies now, so it's
- 21:02Speaker 1: like I'm making a name for myself. I'm getting in there,
- 21:05Speaker 1: you know.
- 21:05Speaker 2: And they're going to launch US Academy pretty soon.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, so that's uh, that's Captain Janeway's thing, isn't it.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Or No, she had the no no.
- 21:15Speaker 2: This is like basically the split off to discussion.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Oh academy. No no no. I auditioned for that too. Oh
- 21:20Speaker 1: did you I think I auditioned as like a professor
- 21:22Speaker 1: or some shit like that on that Oh that's funny
- 21:24Speaker 1: because I'm a little bit I'm a little bit older.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Well I'm I look a little younger, but I am older. Yeah.
- 21:29Speaker 1: So I did audition for that.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Can you talk about what role it was?
- 21:36Speaker 1: Remember, because I I'd have to look it up, but
- 21:38Speaker 1: I'd be auditioning so much. Right, But I did audition
- 21:41Speaker 1: for that too. That's funny.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Oh that's funny. Okay, Yeah, well, I mean if they
- 21:45Speaker 2: keep calling you back for auditions, that's.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's always win. Yeah, it's always a win. Yeah.
- 21:51Speaker 1: So but I'm excited to see that too.
- 21:53Speaker 2: So you know, one one question we asked yes our
- 21:56Speaker 2: podcast is what is the last episode to start trick
- 21:59Speaker 2: you've seen?
- 22:02Speaker 1: Uh? It was probably the season finale of Lower Deck
- 22:06Speaker 1: Lower Decks? Uh if that? If that that counts, you know, yeah,
- 22:10Speaker 1: they wrap that up in a nice little bow. And
- 22:14Speaker 1: then I could probably go to my Paramount plus app
- 22:16Speaker 1: and and and I'd have to go see. Uh it's
- 22:19Speaker 1: probably like if I was watching an episode of Next Gen.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Do I have it on my phone or is it
- 22:23Speaker 1: on my Apple TV downstairs?
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Sometimes I shot them on in the background.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I have to sign back in. But yeah, sometimes when
- 22:30Speaker 1: I'm doing laundry. I just pop it in when I'm
- 22:32Speaker 1: when I can't quite commit to like a new show,
- 22:35Speaker 1: I'll put that on like when I'm cooking or something,
- 22:37Speaker 1: you know, yeah, because then you'll go back and watch
- 22:40Speaker 1: episodes you you forget, Like there's that one episode with
- 22:46Speaker 1: of Next Gen where what's her name? I'm like forgetting
- 22:49Speaker 1: everything around because it's been because I haven't watched in
- 22:51Speaker 1: a little bit. But the doctor what Wesley's Wesley's mom?
- 22:56Speaker 1: Oh h yeah, yeah, she's like having night ror or
- 23:00Speaker 1: something and she can't like differentiate between like uh oh yeah,
- 23:05Speaker 1: reality and and like what's going on in the ship.
- 23:08Speaker 1: You know.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, they've made memes of that where she's like I
- 23:11Speaker 2: start with I'm not insane and.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, and it's those episodes are funny. I Will
- 23:17Speaker 1: Riker had one of those episodes where Romulans also like
- 23:21Speaker 1: we're trying to fuck with him and get like secrets
- 23:23Speaker 1: from him. There's a lot there's a lot of they
- 23:24Speaker 1: do repeat like themes and vibes, which, yeah, it's fine.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Episodes a year, you know.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, let's let's let's run a temporal anomaly episode. Is
- 23:36Speaker 1: that cool? Let's run a uh spatial disturbance, uh wave episode.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Constantly breaking down.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Yeah, let's run one of those where you know Mari
- 23:48Speaker 1: already comes back and tries to cost some mayhem. You know,
- 23:52Speaker 1: let's do one of those. Let's do one. Let's let's
- 23:56Speaker 1: let's put a little concert in this one. There are
- 23:58Speaker 1: a lot of concerts, aren't there. Yeah, I could fit
- 24:04Speaker 1: in it. I often think about how with all these
- 24:06Speaker 1: sci fi shows, only recently have some you know, video
- 24:11Speaker 1: games and TV shows and movies have they been incorporating
- 24:15Speaker 1: social media? But isn't it interesting how the future that
- 24:19Speaker 1: star trek Envision and vision like people on the ship
- 24:21Speaker 1: playing chess, people on the ship going to see classical music.
- 24:26Speaker 1: People on the ship you know my mind, you also
- 24:30Speaker 1: like going to the holid deck to like have some
- 24:32Speaker 1: freaky sex time, which we don't they don't ever explicitly say,
- 24:34Speaker 1: but we know what it was. It had to be
- 24:37Speaker 1: freaky sex time. I mean, if you had a holow deck,
- 24:41Speaker 1: I don't I don't see how you wouldn't only use
- 24:43Speaker 1: it for freaky sex time. The other thing I don't
- 24:45Speaker 1: want to get to too graphic. This is the comedy
- 24:48Speaker 1: minded me, like, there has to be a lower deck
- 24:50Speaker 1: recruit who is like responsible for cleaning the holow deck
- 24:55Speaker 1: because because the the secretions don't go nowhere, right, And
- 24:59Speaker 1: also imagine the other like species who use the hollow deck,
- 25:03Speaker 1: who like climax in a different way that we don't
- 25:06Speaker 1: even know, you know what I mean.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Well, they did the episode of Lower Decks where they
- 25:12Speaker 2: talk about that that they have to go clean the
- 25:13Speaker 2: holid decks.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Oh that's right. Yeah, did you ever watch Orville?
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yeah? I was gonna ask you if you were I.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Liked Orville, dude. I mean, honestly, it seems kind of
- 25:22Speaker 1: like a frame for frame rip off of Star Trek.
- 25:25Speaker 1: But I don't mind it. I do like it, and uh,
- 25:29Speaker 1: I think it's very fun.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah, their last season where they where they went a
- 25:33Speaker 2: little bit longer with the episodes.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think it's coming back to.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Oh is it okay? I've heard back and forth that
- 25:40Speaker 2: it is and it isn't.
- 25:41Speaker 1: My My my partnership was even telling me that they're
- 25:44Speaker 1: going to be doing another season and like they're looking
- 25:46Speaker 1: to fill out the the makeups effects team department stuff.
- 25:52Speaker 1: That's what from what I hear. But you never know,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you know, in Hollywood, you never know how these things
- 25:55Speaker 1: are because the TV is rapidly becoming like an endangered species,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you know.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess we'll see what happens after the Paramount merger.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Two Star Trek sticks around.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Because start Star Trek is a woke property. It's not
- 26:12Speaker 1: all phasers and and aliens, you know, and we have
- 26:17Speaker 1: to and it's it's very expensive. Yeah. I remember when
- 26:20Speaker 1: I was moderating in the panel, like the way they
- 26:23Speaker 1: shoot for like six months, and I mean, do these
- 26:25Speaker 1: these these strange New World's episodes are like little movies.
- 26:30Speaker 1: They're very well done and really nice.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and the special effects rival to movies, like it's
- 26:36Speaker 2: very impressive.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah. Man, I wish there really was like a
- 26:45Speaker 1: like a really good Star Trek video game. I know
- 26:48Speaker 1: there is a VR game, and I know obviously they
- 26:52Speaker 1: have like that uh Star Trek Command that's like the
- 26:57Speaker 1: app that you could use, which I haven't really delved into.
- 27:00Speaker 1: But it'd be cool if there was like a a
- 27:02Speaker 1: No Man's Sky type of hybrid, you know, No Man's Sky.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Have you heard of that video game? If there was
- 27:08Speaker 1: like a No Man's Sky or Star Citizen, but it
- 27:11Speaker 1: was like a Star Trek.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Show, I don't want to play on GTA.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Now that would be fucking crazy, bro.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Right, that would be cool looking for Glory.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Basically like yeah, basically like a Hogwarts Legacies game, but
- 27:26Speaker 1: for Star like they could totally do a Star Trek one. Yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 1: you know you build your skills? What what? What do
- 27:31Speaker 1: you want to be? Do you want to be a
- 27:33Speaker 1: security officer? Do you want to be? Like what's your
- 27:36Speaker 1: build going to be? Do you want to be an engineer?
- 27:38Speaker 1: Do you want to be a captain? Track? Do you
- 27:39Speaker 1: want to do? You know, like, what do you want
- 27:42Speaker 1: to do? Do you want to be a ship's counselor and
- 27:44Speaker 1: be respond? You know, kind of the same when you
- 27:46Speaker 1: play boulders Gate and you pick your class, like you
- 27:48Speaker 1: are going to have a certain skill set you want
- 27:50Speaker 1: to be like a marshal, you know you want to
- 27:52Speaker 1: be what do you want to do? You know?
- 27:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a lot of fun. Sounds like
- 27:57Speaker 2: you're a big gamer?
- 27:59Speaker 1: I yeah, I mean yea. I did back in my
- 28:02Speaker 1: day play play quite a few. I don't have as
- 28:04Speaker 1: much time as I have now I used to, but
- 28:08Speaker 1: ultimately I mostly played like Fortnite when I'm in town,
- 28:10Speaker 1: and just because that's my big part of my fan
- 28:13Speaker 1: base place Fortnite, and I can play with my fans
- 28:15Speaker 1: and it's kind of very kid friendly and uh but
- 28:18Speaker 1: I play Legal Legends, counter Strike, Grand Theft Auto of course,
- 28:24Speaker 1: stuff like that. So right, yeah, so.
- 28:29Speaker 2: What what pooled you into start? You see got into
- 28:32Speaker 2: it later in life. What pulled you into it? Was
- 28:34Speaker 2: it just because it's been around, You're like, oh, I better.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Check this out, or no, because I just literally I
- 28:41Speaker 1: like sci fi, And yeah, it was on and I
- 28:43Speaker 1: just was like, I've been told many good things about
- 28:46Speaker 1: Star Trek, and uh, I just turned it on. I
- 28:51Speaker 1: swear to god, I just like turned it on and
- 28:52Speaker 1: like gave it a chance. You know, obviously the first
- 28:56Speaker 1: pilot of TNG is you know, it's the two episode.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Was it Farpoint.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Humanity?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great, it was, but it like things
- 29:08Speaker 1: just move slower on the show, just especially the way
- 29:11Speaker 1: TV moved in general, like moves a lot slower, and so, uh,
- 29:16Speaker 1: you know, you just had to like give it a chance.
- 29:19Speaker 1: But I thought it was an easy show. It was.
- 29:22Speaker 1: It's interesting like going from series to series because it's
- 29:25Speaker 1: like once you've once I finished TG because it's obviously
- 29:28Speaker 1: a lot of episodes, it's a lot, and I moved
- 29:32Speaker 1: on to. I think the second one I moved on
- 29:34Speaker 1: to is Voyager. Uh. It was just like it's kind
- 29:40Speaker 1: of like when you finish reading a book and you
- 29:41Speaker 1: like miss the characters and you have to like start,
- 29:43Speaker 1: you have to get to know a whole new cast
- 29:45Speaker 1: and crew, you know, and you're like, I'm not go,
- 29:47Speaker 1: there's no way I'm gonna like these guys as much
- 29:49Speaker 1: of the last one, you know, But then you realize,
- 29:51Speaker 1: like they all bring their own kind of flavor, you know,
- 29:55Speaker 1: did you.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Have anyone like Guiding And you're like, oh, if you
- 29:58Speaker 2: like this series, go which I got this other one?
- 30:00Speaker 1: No? I just I just like sci fi, and I
- 30:02Speaker 1: just I just watched it. You know. Voyager was cool.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Deep Space nine was like just so like intricate.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it was so.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Yeah, because because the thing about Voyager was Voyager was
- 30:16Speaker 1: kind of like a Monster of the Week type of show, right,
- 30:20Speaker 1: if that makes sense, Because they were stranded in different
- 30:23Speaker 1: parts you just kind of like nobody knew what was
- 30:26Speaker 1: what what were they going to face this week and
- 30:28Speaker 1: their adventure, you know what I mean. And then when
- 30:31Speaker 1: it wrapped and like the way they resolved them getting
- 30:34Speaker 1: back and then like going back in time to like
- 30:37Speaker 1: fix fix it, so they're not you know what I mean.
- 30:42Speaker 1: I thought it was good. I mean I never disliked
- 30:45Speaker 1: any of it, but I always wonder if there was
- 30:46Speaker 1: a different way they could have gone about it, you know.
- 30:49Speaker 1: And uh and then Deep Space nine that I just
- 30:52Speaker 1: thought that was very cool.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Voyagers got one of the most controversial episodes.
- 30:58Speaker 1: The Oh the Two Bicks. Oh, yeah, I know she
- 31:01Speaker 1: has to make a decision, like this is a person now,
- 31:04Speaker 1: But do I split them up?
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yeah? Do you think she made the right decision or not?
- 31:08Speaker 1: Or I think she made the right decision?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I just gotta say he's my special boy.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I love the Two Vicks, but I I think yeah,
- 31:25Speaker 1: I think she made the right decision.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, look fair enough.
- 31:32Speaker 1: They had some crazy ethical questions. But remember when Wharf
- 31:35Speaker 1: was like asking little Riker to kill him? Yeah, you
- 31:38Speaker 1: know what I mean. Like they had some crazy like
- 31:41Speaker 1: talking about euthanasia and this and like living paralyzed or not.
- 31:44Speaker 1: And just like I thought, there was just some crazy
- 31:48Speaker 1: episodes and crazy not in a negative way, just like wow,
- 31:51Speaker 1: they like really took it there, you know.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, some really deep philosophical questions.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Deep Space nine also had that that famous one where
- 31:59Speaker 1: they go back in time and he's like he's like
- 32:01Speaker 1: a writer. Yeah, I forgot what that was called. I
- 32:05Speaker 1: think you want an Emmy for that. Maybe I forget, Yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 1: but you know which episode he goes back in time
- 32:10Speaker 1: and like he's you know, like just what they say
- 32:12Speaker 1: about race and I mean, do you Stein was like
- 32:15Speaker 1: one of those first shows that showed you know, like
- 32:17Speaker 1: a black family, uh, like a family unit like that,
- 32:22Speaker 1: you know, like the father and the son and the
- 32:24Speaker 1: way they were portrayed. It was like a very positive
- 32:27Speaker 1: it felt like you know, in mainstream media. That is,
- 32:30Speaker 1: you know, obviously there was like you know, other shows
- 32:32Speaker 1: that had something like that, but yeah, I guess there
- 32:35Speaker 1: was like Family Matters too, but.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Well it's one of the rare things where like the
- 32:39Speaker 2: dad wasn't made to be dumb.
- 32:42Speaker 1: No, one hundred percent, he wasn't a goofball. He was
- 32:44Speaker 1: like yeah, Sky who was like very layered. And also
- 32:48Speaker 1: like the religious undertones that that show kind of spoke
- 32:51Speaker 1: upon and like cult things and you know where science
- 32:55Speaker 1: and religion kind of have to like fight and who
- 32:58Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It was just a lot
- 33:00Speaker 1: of really interesting themes there.
- 33:02Speaker 2: I mean Cergex always had some interesting religious hundertones too.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Also remember the lesbian kiss in d S nine. Yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 1: and like that was like such a cool moment because
- 33:13Speaker 1: the kiss wasn't like the way it was it was
- 33:16Speaker 1: like a kiss of love and it wasn't just like
- 33:18Speaker 1: two girls kissing for no red you know what I'm saying.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, the Trill were very much a parallel to trans.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh yeah. And then the Wesley Crusher had that
- 33:33Speaker 1: whole remember that whole episode where like she her Remember
- 33:36Speaker 1: she's like, well, my understanding of love is like I
- 33:38Speaker 1: just can't like grasp what you grasp, you know, remember,
- 33:42Speaker 1: because that the Trill had to get transplanted into a
- 33:45Speaker 1: woman and then she just was like, ah, what do
- 33:47Speaker 1: I do? It's very interesting, Yeah, very interesting. Yeah, really
- 33:53Speaker 1: good episodes. But of course, but of course the episode
- 33:56Speaker 1: I think. You know what I always tell people as
- 33:58Speaker 1: my entry point into the show, like if you want
- 34:00Speaker 1: to get into it, you gotta watch the Inner Light
- 34:02Speaker 1: is what I tell them to watch. That's that's the
- 34:05Speaker 1: episode I always tell them to watch. And you see
- 34:07Speaker 1: how they've taken that idea from Like remember Rick, you
- 34:11Speaker 1: watch rickod Morty not often, No, Okay. So there's yeah,
- 34:15Speaker 1: there's a there's a they go to this place called
- 34:17Speaker 1: Blips and Chips, which is like a Dave and Busters.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And there's a game called Roy. And the game of
- 34:22Speaker 1: Roy is where you just you just live the life
- 34:25Speaker 1: of this this man from birth to from birth to
- 34:28Speaker 1: death and then like you take it off and then
- 34:31Speaker 1: that's the game, Like you live this whole life, you
- 34:33Speaker 1: know what I mean? And you're like, what the fuck?
- 34:36Speaker 1: And Rick is like because like you survived cancer and
- 34:39Speaker 1: you went to go back and work at the carpet store.
- 34:43Speaker 1: That's what you did, you know what I mean? Like,
- 34:47Speaker 1: this is really interesting. I thought it was funny.
- 34:49Speaker 2: That's funny to see that. Yeah, know that the episode
- 34:56Speaker 2: I recommend to people is in the Pale Moonlight where
- 35:00Speaker 2: Cisco and Gerrick end up killing that senator. Oh yeah,
- 35:06Speaker 2: and was it worth it to kill that one man
- 35:09Speaker 2: to get the romulants into the war and help them.
- 35:13Speaker 1: That's really fascinating because it's like such another allegory for
- 35:17Speaker 1: things like that that are going on now. Yeah, you
- 35:22Speaker 1: know it's like when actually I won't even talk about
- 35:25Speaker 1: it because I don't want to lower your views or counts.
- 35:29Speaker 1: You know, no, you're you're.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Fine, You're fine dock yet but yeah, yeah, it's it's
- 35:36Speaker 2: amazing how reflective. But that's the thing about sci fi though,
- 35:40Speaker 2: That's what the genre was designed, is you couldn't straight
- 35:43Speaker 2: out say things.
- 35:44Speaker 1: So I do. Yeah. I am a fan of like
- 35:48Speaker 1: the hard sci fi stuff that's been coming out, like
- 35:51Speaker 1: uh you know all the you know obviously the Martian
- 35:55Speaker 1: and then the new movie coming out. I read the
- 35:57Speaker 1: book of his uh A project here hell Mary, I
- 36:00Speaker 1: read that book and I don't know if you read
- 36:03Speaker 1: that book, but it's a hard sci fi book and
- 36:08Speaker 1: there is like an alien in it, and I don't
- 36:13Speaker 1: know if the audience is going to be ready for it.
- 36:15Speaker 1: I think I hope it doesn't turn them off, because
- 36:17Speaker 1: like in the book, it's very cool and very very realistic,
- 36:22Speaker 1: you know about how it would go down to like
- 36:24Speaker 1: meet an extraterrestrial from another planet, you know, So I
- 36:29Speaker 1: am curious about how they're gonna how they run that.
- 36:33Speaker 1: That's going to be interesting.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:37Speaker 1: And then another sci fi that I read, I hope
- 36:39Speaker 1: they make a TV show. Well. I read Seven Eves.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I don't know if you're familiar with Seven Eves, but
- 36:44Speaker 1: they are going to be turning that into a TV show.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Ron Howard is set to produce that. From what I understand,
- 36:49Speaker 1: so Seven Eves is basically basically the Moon explodes, not
- 36:54Speaker 1: not in the way you'd think, right, Like what happens
- 36:56Speaker 1: is like something goes through the Moon and like it's
- 36:58Speaker 1: just like a little bit. So now there's like just
- 37:02Speaker 1: chunks of the Moon that are still orbiting Earth. But
- 37:05Speaker 1: the issue is within several years that these chunks are
- 37:10Speaker 1: gonna come and crash down to Earth if that makes sense. Yeah,
- 37:14Speaker 1: it's good, it's gonna and then it's and ultimately it's
- 37:16Speaker 1: gonna kill all life on the planet. So they're like
- 37:19Speaker 1: they have to make an arc for humans. And in
- 37:23Speaker 1: the end, what happens is like everything kind of goes
- 37:25Speaker 1: awry and then there's just like seven women left to
- 37:28Speaker 1: like see what happens. And then you kind of see
- 37:31Speaker 1: what happens, like five to five thousand years later, what
- 37:33Speaker 1: happens to their descendants, And they're like the Seven Eves,
- 37:36Speaker 1: like Adam and Eve wow, and then and then there
- 37:39Speaker 1: are some people that like on Earth went underground and survived,
- 37:44Speaker 1: and there are some people on Earth who went into
- 37:48Speaker 1: the water and survived. Oh interesting, and then you kind
- 37:51Speaker 1: of see what what five thousand years of evolution does
- 37:54Speaker 1: to those people.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Huh.
- 37:56Speaker 1: It's very It was very fascinating and also a hard side.
- 38:00Speaker 1: If I one and then the other one I would
- 38:01Speaker 1: recommend is New Monon, which is about a legacy starship
- 38:06Speaker 1: that like they go, they travel to see a Dyson
- 38:12Speaker 1: sphere what they think is a Dison sphere, right, uh,
- 38:15Speaker 1: and then they find out it was a Diceon sphere.
- 38:17Speaker 1: But then by the time they get I'm sorry, it's
- 38:19Speaker 1: a generational starship, not like a generational starship. And by
- 38:24Speaker 1: the time they get back to Earth, like four thousand
- 38:26Speaker 1: years has elapsed, and then you kind of see how
- 38:29Speaker 1: Earth evolved by that point. And as what's funny is
- 38:33Speaker 1: they return and like the people of Earth like don't
- 38:36Speaker 1: even care that they're there at this point. They're like
- 38:39Speaker 1: forgot about it, you know, right years They're like what, okay,
- 38:43Speaker 1: so you guys are who Yeah. Yeah. So it's like
- 38:47Speaker 1: very it's a very fascinating thing. And yeah, a lot
- 38:51Speaker 1: of good shit, a lot of good ship out there.
- 38:53Speaker 2: So it sounds like you're a big reader then or audiobooks.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Or uh yeah, I've read. Uh, yeah, I am. I
- 39:01Speaker 1: haven't read a lot this year. I've been reading. I honestly,
- 39:03Speaker 1: if if you wanted, I've been reading the last year,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and I've been reading Harry Potter and Portuguese. Okay, just
- 39:10Speaker 1: I'm going to Brazil in a week and I'm doing
- 39:12Speaker 1: shows there, and I wanted to be in a place
- 39:15Speaker 1: with with my Portuguese where I could like really effectively
- 39:19Speaker 1: communicate there. I am Brazilian and I do speak it,
- 39:22Speaker 1: but I wanted to like speak it as well as
- 39:24Speaker 1: I could.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Ye.
- 39:25Speaker 2: So, yeah, are your show is going to be in Portuguese?
- 39:28Speaker 1: Or about twenty percent of the show I think will
- 39:31Speaker 1: be in Portuguese. My Brazilian fans I think will expect
- 39:35Speaker 1: a certain amount. Yeah, I think, you know, So we'll
- 39:40Speaker 1: see how it goes. Yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. Man.
- 39:46Speaker 1: I wish I have I wish we had Babblefish you know.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Oh you know what I mean, do you? Yeah? Hitchhiger.
- 39:52Speaker 1: I read Hitchhiger's Guy was one of my first sci
- 39:53Speaker 1: fi books. Ire Ad Hitchhiker's Guy to the University or
- 39:56Speaker 1: to the Galaxy. That was really good. I never I
- 39:59Speaker 1: never watched the movie with Mos def and what's his name?
- 40:05Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he's in a lot of shit. He's he
- 40:08Speaker 1: he's in uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. And
- 40:14Speaker 1: so once I, once I get back from Brazil, I'll
- 40:19Speaker 1: hop into a new sci fi book. For sure. It's
- 40:22Speaker 1: because I've been preparing for that.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Is there any like sci fi books that turned into
- 40:26Speaker 2: movies or TV shows that you think the shows or
- 40:28Speaker 2: movies were better than the books.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I think the the one that just came out, Dark
- 40:35Speaker 1: Matter by Blake Crouch on on Apple TV. I think
- 40:39Speaker 1: they did a really good job kind of like you know,
- 40:44Speaker 1: turning that into a series. As a matter of fact,
- 40:46Speaker 1: I think it did better. I think it did better
- 40:48Speaker 1: because it like got to show even more things. I
- 40:51Speaker 1: think I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed it. Yeah,
- 40:54Speaker 1: I wish there could be a I wish there could
- 40:58Speaker 1: be a sequel to that. But kind of one thing.
- 41:01Speaker 1: There is a book that I read called The Punch Escrow,
- 41:03Speaker 1: which was really good. That was it's about like in
- 41:08Speaker 1: this world, like teleportation exists, but the way they teleport
- 41:13Speaker 1: you is they make like basically a copy of you,
- 41:16Speaker 1: and the new they break you down into code and
- 41:19Speaker 1: then build you up in another place, but the issue
- 41:22Speaker 1: is the person that goes into the then just kind
- 41:28Speaker 1: of like gets incinerated.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Okay, and then.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Exactly so it's like everybody uses it until one time
- 41:39Speaker 1: it like malfunctions and then the guy gets transported but
- 41:43Speaker 1: his cop Remember that episode, Remember that episode of TNG
- 41:46Speaker 1: where Will Riker they find like the other Will Riker
- 41:49Speaker 1: because he bounced off and then he came back down.
- 41:54Speaker 1: But then dual Rikers, you know, so it's kind of
- 41:58Speaker 1: on that one. There was another one I read called
- 42:01Speaker 1: Infinite that was really cool and that was kind of
- 42:04Speaker 1: like that kind of touched on the the thought of
- 42:08Speaker 1: like you know, simulations within simulations within simulations were like
- 42:12Speaker 1: VR gets so you know, so real Doude. There is
- 42:18Speaker 1: another book that I read that I wonder if they're
- 42:22Speaker 1: let me see, if they make this into a show,
- 42:28Speaker 1: I will be shocked. Oh my god, so they are
- 42:37Speaker 1: going to make this into a movie. Okay. So Children
- 42:40Speaker 1: of Time is a book that I read that was
- 42:45Speaker 1: so it was also hard sci fi but so bizarre. Basically,
- 42:52Speaker 1: they from what I remember, they were going to seed
- 42:55Speaker 1: a planet. They were going to like terra form a
- 42:57Speaker 1: planet or find an existing planet and seed it with
- 43:02Speaker 1: like the evolutionary gene to like speed up the evolution
- 43:07Speaker 1: of apes so that way, like humans could evolve on
- 43:10Speaker 1: that planet, you know. But what happened was whatever the
- 43:15Speaker 1: evolutionary dream thing that they were supposed to like drop
- 43:19Speaker 1: on the planet, there was some sort of malfunction and
- 43:22Speaker 1: it landed on spiders. Oh so then spiders evolved to
- 43:30Speaker 1: be like to have language to communicate, and to have
- 43:33Speaker 1: complex like geopolitical systems, and then like humans eventually do
- 43:39Speaker 1: show up to the planet. But it turns out I mean,
- 43:45Speaker 1: I just was like, I wonder if they could make
- 43:47Speaker 1: this into the only reason I don't know if they
- 43:49Speaker 1: could make this into it shows because people have, like
- 43:52Speaker 1: a lot of people have a rachnophobia, and I don't
- 43:55Speaker 1: know if we could like see spiders regularly and not
- 43:58Speaker 1: be freaked the fuck out.
- 44:00Speaker 2: It reminds me of that Voyager episode where they meet
- 44:02Speaker 2: the dinosaurs. Dinosaurs evolved into people.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so funny, dude.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's an interesting, weird concept something they think about it.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Then again, it's that could happen. I mean, who's to
- 44:18Speaker 1: say that once humans are long gone from the Earth
- 44:20Speaker 1: that in another billion years, like you know, cockerroaches don't
- 44:25Speaker 1: evolve to like have like, you know, fundamental thinking skills.
- 44:28Speaker 1: You know what I mean, there's there's a role where
- 44:30Speaker 1: that happens. I believe it. I believe it.
- 44:35Speaker 2: I just think about the pitch meetings, Like you're right
- 44:37Speaker 2: around Star Trek and you're like, all right, you're gonna
- 44:39Speaker 2: put dinosaur people in this thing.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I mean, I've funck with it, man, Yeah with it.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Let's let's create this gaseous entity. How does that sound?
- 44:51Speaker 3: What is it?
- 44:51Speaker 1: It's just a gas that it can think.
- 44:54Speaker 2: This villain looks like a snowflake. The Crystal Line entity just.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Bro and it just like shoots a laser and destroys
- 45:01Speaker 1: everything in that's past.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Yeah, just no reason, just terrorizing people.
- 45:05Speaker 1: You know what I always think about Star Trek is like,
- 45:07Speaker 1: what do you think about soldiers who go to war
- 45:09Speaker 1: on Earth now and like the PTSD, they have any
- 45:13Speaker 1: think about somebody like Putcard, who is who has been
- 45:16Speaker 1: through every major terrible thing, held captive, tortured, uh, turned
- 45:21Speaker 1: into a board, lived a whole life, and then like
- 45:24Speaker 1: had a family and then came back. This dude is
- 45:28Speaker 1: how is he still fit for command and not have
- 45:31Speaker 1: a drinking problem. You know.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess. I guess that's why they have the
- 45:35Speaker 2: counselor on the ship.
- 45:36Speaker 1: I'll tell you, because of that holow deck there you go.
- 45:41Speaker 1: He's like, it's like, I don't have a kid. I
- 45:43Speaker 1: don't have I don't want kids. I don't have kids
- 45:44Speaker 1: because the hollow deck. That's where I do it.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's the argument that he did want kids because
- 45:53Speaker 2: of the movies when the next dis threes got all
- 45:55Speaker 2: the kids.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And yeah, oh the family there.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and then in the inner light as well, and.
- 46:03Speaker 1: You know there, I I do believe that.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Personally, I do believe in in parallel universes or or
- 46:10Speaker 1: branched universes. You know. I do believe the choices we
- 46:14Speaker 1: make lead you know. I believe in like this quantum
- 46:17Speaker 1: thing where you know, that's what that's what that's what
- 46:20Speaker 1: dark matter is all about. I don't know, did you
- 46:22Speaker 1: see the series?
- 46:23Speaker 2: No, I'm not.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I'm not highly highly recommend it. It's great. It's basically
- 46:28Speaker 1: you know, uh, he's able to unlock different universes where
- 46:33Speaker 1: he made different decisions and stuff. And uh, I believe that.
- 46:39Speaker 1: It also that also like gives me comfort, you know,
- 46:42Speaker 1: especially when I make a tough decision. You're like, well,
- 46:45Speaker 1: maybe if I didn't, you know, I know, I broke
- 46:47Speaker 1: up at that person, but I believe that somewhere in
- 46:50Speaker 1: another universe we stayed together. Yeah, you know, I think
- 46:53Speaker 1: about that.
- 46:54Speaker 2: H Yeah, I think it's possible, you know. Yeah, I
- 47:00Speaker 2: kind of think a lot about the simulation theory and
- 47:04Speaker 2: how similarly.
- 47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I do too. I mean, if that's I
- 47:09Speaker 1: think I would do that. And then the longer you
- 47:11Speaker 1: think about it, and the more down the rabbit hole
- 47:13Speaker 1: you go, it's hard not to like have an existential crisis.
- 47:18Speaker 1: It's sort of like it's sort of like if if
- 47:23Speaker 1: somebody made this, then who made their thing? And then
- 47:26Speaker 1: who made It's like who made their and then like
- 47:28Speaker 1: how far back do we go? Right and if and
- 47:30Speaker 1: if if there's nothing, like we have to exist, so
- 47:34Speaker 1: nothing doesn't exist, like nothingness only exists if something this exists,
- 47:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean, there has to be that
- 47:43Speaker 1: other thing right there. And then you just keep going,
- 47:47Speaker 1: You just keep going back and back, and you're like, huh,
- 47:50Speaker 1: how far back does this go? You know? Prock you
- 47:55Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be singing my songs, maybe you know
- 47:59Speaker 1: what I mean, yeah.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Yeah, well we should probably be wrapping it up.
- 48:03Speaker 1: I know that you had Yeah yeah, yeah, but thanks.
- 48:07Speaker 2: So much for being on. Anything you want to bring up.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, if you guys are watching this or
- 48:13Speaker 1: listening to this, it's it's morganja dot com or orgoofy
- 48:17Speaker 1: gang dot com. Uh. I am going on tour for
- 48:19Speaker 1: about a month. But when I'm back, we're gonna have
- 48:21Speaker 1: regular talk shows, live streamed talk shows back here. And
- 48:27Speaker 1: that that's what's going on. Just look me up and
- 48:29Speaker 1: and I appreciate you, and you know, live long and
- 48:31Speaker 1: prosper and go boldly as they say, and do not
- 48:36Speaker 1: be afraid of what is what is out there? Okay, uh,
- 48:40Speaker 1: because at the end, that's it. That's what I'll say,
- 48:43Speaker 1: you know, take that leap of faith, all those things,
- 48:45Speaker 1: all those good things. Travel the world, see other people.
- 48:49Speaker 1: You know. You know, we can't travel from planet to planet,
- 48:52Speaker 1: but I'll tell you what I've I've been in some
- 48:53Speaker 1: countries that felt like another planet to me. So I'll
- 48:56Speaker 1: say that there you go. Yeah, let's all say so.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I appreciate I appreciate you man.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Yet, thank you so much for being on Morgan. Yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 2: absolute blast.
- 49:05Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I look forward to hopping up to Idaho
- 49:07Speaker 1: and seeing what it's like over there.
- 49:08Speaker 2: You'd love it.
- 49:09Speaker 1: It's very green, so I can't I can't wait to
- 49:11Speaker 1: see it. Yeah, man, all right, well I'm gonna hop
- 49:13Speaker 1: out of here. I'm gonna go, but thanks again, dude.
- 49:15Speaker 2: All right, talk to you later.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Take it easy.
- 49:18Speaker 3: This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space nine and
- 49:21Speaker 3: Space God to the Bajorans. I have a mission for you.
- 49:24Speaker 3: This falls outside of Starfleet guidelines, so I can't order you,
- 49:28Speaker 3: but I'm asking for volunteers. Volunteers who will subscribe to
