- 0:03Speaker 2: This Opposition Territory podcast was recorded on Tuesday, February eighteenth,
- 0:07Speaker 2: twenty twenty five. By the time you hear this, some
- 0:10Speaker 2: things may have changed here there, but we hope you
- 0:12Speaker 2: enjoy the show. Welcome to Opposition Territory here at the
- 0:32Speaker 2: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:35Speaker 2: sports podcast show.
- 0:37Speaker 1: In the world. That's right over eleven and a half
- 0:39Speaker 1: year strong.
- 0:40Speaker 2: This coming April is actually going to be twelve years
- 0:43Speaker 2: that we have been consistently doing the PST podcast show
- 0:47Speaker 2: and putting up weekly content. My gosh, twelve years. It's
- 0:50Speaker 2: almost that time. But I'll say this week, right here,
- 0:54Speaker 2: right now, as you are listening to with this particular episode,
- 0:57Speaker 2: it is time to get into the New York Knicks
- 1:00Speaker 2: on Opposition Territory.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We've got a great guest.
- 1:02Speaker 2: We've talked NBA with him before, We've talked about the
- 1:05Speaker 2: New York Knicks with him before. What is this team
- 1:07Speaker 2: looking to do in the Eastern Conference. We're not We're
- 1:11Speaker 2: not gonna get into the sixers. I'm telling you that
- 1:12Speaker 2: right now. There's absolutely no need to even discuss the
- 1:16Speaker 2: Philadelphia seventy six Ers with our guest, This Knixt team.
- 1:20Speaker 2: As much as US Sixers fans hate to see it,
- 1:22Speaker 2: they're good. They are a good team. What are they
- 1:25Speaker 2: gonna be able to do in this Eastern Conference from
- 1:27Speaker 2: here on out, We've got a great discussion.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Let's get right to it.
- 1:30Speaker 2: And joining us from the dime with Josh and Quab
- 1:34Speaker 2: that great podcast. I've been on there a number of
- 1:37Speaker 2: times and we'd love having them on the PST podcast
- 1:40Speaker 2: show here, especially our opposition Territory pod. We've got the
- 1:43Speaker 2: one and only Josh Rodriguez. Buddy, how you doing, my man?
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm doing good man. Congratulations to your Eagles. Well,
- 1:49Speaker 3: thank you, free show, but I have to say it
- 1:50Speaker 3: on air to officially thank you. Congratulations.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Listen.
- 1:54Speaker 3: For as bad as the season the Sixers are having,
- 1:56Speaker 3: the Eagles had equally as good of a season. Absolutely,
- 1:59Speaker 3: it's it evens out. It evens out?
- 2:01Speaker 1: It does it does? It evens out in the end.
- 2:03Speaker 2: You know a lot of US Eagulls fans, Phillies fans,
- 2:05Speaker 2: Sixers fans, you know, Flyers fans, We're thinking, Okay, what's
- 2:08Speaker 2: the next Philly sports team to get a championship.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We have absolutely no idea who it's going to be,
- 2:12Speaker 1: so yes, again, probably absolutely absolutely.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I'm right. Well, dude, I brought you on because I
- 2:18Speaker 2: really wanted to get into this New York Knicks team
- 2:20Speaker 2: with you. You're not only a fan, but you follow
- 2:22Speaker 2: this team, you know, you and KWAB you're talking about
- 2:25Speaker 2: them on the Dime podcast all the time. And I
- 2:28Speaker 2: really wanted to get your perspective because you know, they're
- 2:30Speaker 2: a team that I thought was going to be heading
- 2:32Speaker 2: to the Eastern Conference finals, and things are looking good
- 2:35Speaker 2: for this team right now. They're currently third in the East.
- 2:37Speaker 2: They're eight games behind the number one overall Calves. At
- 2:40Speaker 2: this moment here at the halfway point of the season,
- 2:43Speaker 2: how would you assess what we have seen from this
- 2:46Speaker 2: New York Knicks team from from an overall perspective? How
- 2:49Speaker 2: do you view this season thus far?
- 2:51Speaker 3: It's interesting because this team, their record is probably the
- 2:54Speaker 3: best it's been after fifty something games that it's been
- 2:57Speaker 3: my whole life, Yeah, the whole life time since I'm
- 2:59Speaker 3: a kid, since I was going to like middle school,
- 3:01Speaker 3: elementary school.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yep.
- 3:03Speaker 3: But on one hand, you know, the vibe in New
- 3:05Speaker 3: York and the vibe around Knicks fans. It's not like
- 3:07Speaker 3: we don't really like this team. It's weird, like we
- 3:10Speaker 3: want to like this team, we want to believe in
- 3:11Speaker 3: this team. But when you go oh and too against
- 3:13Speaker 3: the Celtics, and the Celtics smack you both times they play. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 3: when you loose to the Cavs the only time you play,
- 3:18Speaker 3: when you loose the Thunder both times you play, it's
- 3:20Speaker 3: hard to believe that this team is actually a championship contender.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I say it all the time in the dime. I
- 3:24Speaker 3: think the Knicks are the best of the next tier,
- 3:26Speaker 3: but the next tier to me is in contenders. Yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 3: so if they can kind of creep out of that,
- 3:31Speaker 3: I think I'll be more confident. And also, they just
- 3:33Speaker 3: they just don't embody the city like last year's team did.
- 3:35Speaker 3: It's a completely different team. I know there's a lot
- 3:37Speaker 3: of the same players, but it just feels different and
- 3:39Speaker 3: it's just a lot getting used to so right now,
- 3:42Speaker 3: it's a city, it's a fan base that is willingly
- 3:44Speaker 3: willing and waiting to open their arms out to this
- 3:47Speaker 3: team just to give us a reason. And even though
- 3:49Speaker 3: they're winning games, it just doesn't feel the same.
- 3:51Speaker 2: It's interesting you mentioned that because I was going to
- 3:53Speaker 2: get to it, you know, in the topics that I
- 3:55Speaker 2: sent to you, And actually I'll just ask you now
- 3:58Speaker 2: because it really I think that vibe that this team
- 4:01Speaker 2: has really has a lot to do with Karl Anthony Towns,
- 4:06Speaker 2: and I want to I want to really kind of
- 4:07Speaker 2: get into him in the trade itself, because he came
- 4:10Speaker 2: into a difficult situation after that trade. Fans had absolutely
- 4:14Speaker 2: fallen in love with last year's Knicks team, but the
- 4:17Speaker 2: trade meant losing two very pivotal players for the Knicks.
- 4:21Speaker 2: But all of that, I mean, I guess it's not underwater.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I thought maybe for Knicks fans, maybe that's all underwater
- 4:27Speaker 2: under the bridge, you know, due to the fact that
- 4:29Speaker 2: they are third in the East, you know, control a
- 4:31Speaker 2: lot of their own destiny. Because I do think that
- 4:35Speaker 2: Kat is really doing everything Knicks fans have hoped for
- 4:39Speaker 2: and so much more. But from what you're saying here,
- 4:41Speaker 2: it's just it doesn't necessarily have that same feel of
- 4:45Speaker 2: last year. So I'm wondering, like, what kind of dynamic
- 4:48Speaker 2: has Karl Anthony Towns really brought to the team through
- 4:51Speaker 2: his first forty I'm sorry fifty four games as a Nick,
- 4:55Speaker 2: and you know, can can things start to feel a
- 4:58Speaker 2: little bit better because of him?
- 4:59Speaker 1: Maybe?
- 5:00Speaker 3: You know, it's interesting. I don't blame Kat for this
- 5:01Speaker 3: at all. I think Kat has come in and he's
- 5:04Speaker 3: fitting beautifully. He's been phenomenal on offense. I mean he's
- 5:07Speaker 3: had his moments on defense. He hasn't been great defensively,
- 5:09Speaker 3: but at least tries. To me, it's more about losing Hertenstein,
- 5:14Speaker 3: losing Dante who was a fan favorite. Dante was on
- 5:17Speaker 3: the Knicks for one year. I can't remember a Nick
- 5:20Speaker 3: maybe e Xavier McDaniel like a Nick who's on the
- 5:23Speaker 3: team for one year as beloved as Dante. I mean,
- 5:26Speaker 3: he was a fan favorite and he's gone. Julius. You
- 5:28Speaker 3: can say whatever you want about him. He's still brought
- 5:31Speaker 3: some type of toughness and some type of attitude to
- 5:33Speaker 3: the team that's missing. But Kat, to answer your question,
- 5:36Speaker 3: I think he's fitning beautifully. I really do. I think
- 5:39Speaker 3: he's taken this offense to another level, one that is
- 5:42Speaker 3: better than last year's team. I think they're more dynamic
- 5:45Speaker 3: on offense. I feel very comfortable to ball in his hands.
- 5:47Speaker 3: He's a phenomenal passer. I knew he's a good paus pastor.
- 5:49Speaker 3: I know how good of a passer he was. So
- 5:52Speaker 3: it's weird because we've made all these moves and Kat's
- 5:55Speaker 3: the big move. And if you were just hear Nick
- 5:58Speaker 3: fans talk about how disappointed or how there's not really
- 6:00Speaker 3: filling the team, you would assume it's because of cap,
- 6:02Speaker 3: but it's actually not a lot of it is mckel, Bridges,
- 6:04Speaker 3: and a lot of is missing Hartenstein and Gande.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It's amazing invention Michael Bridges. I wasn't going to get
- 6:10Speaker 2: any type of Sixers talk, but God, he's somebody that
- 6:13Speaker 2: I wish we actually had on this team. But we
- 6:15Speaker 2: did have it.
- 6:15Speaker 1: We drafted them for God's sake.
- 6:17Speaker 2: To a few hours later, but still as a discussion,
- 6:20Speaker 2: I guess for another time. But I also wanted to
- 6:23Speaker 2: get into some of the positives and negatives that you
- 6:26Speaker 2: have seen from this NIXT team so far this season. Again,
- 6:29Speaker 2: first half of the season, you know, they you're talking
- 6:31Speaker 2: about them playing to certain competition that they're just not
- 6:34Speaker 2: able to win games against, and essentially that that that
- 6:39Speaker 2: that top tier, or I should say the second tier,
- 6:42Speaker 2: they're right at the top. So kind of two part
- 6:45Speaker 2: question here. You know, when you look at the biggest
- 6:47Speaker 2: positives that you've seen from the next team this season,
- 6:50Speaker 2: can you name some of them let our listeners know,
- 6:53Speaker 2: you know, where are things heading for this next team
- 6:56Speaker 2: in the right direction. Then we'll get into some of
- 6:57Speaker 2: the negatives. But what are some of those positives attributes
- 7:00Speaker 2: of this team? Definitely the offensive end of things. They're
- 7:03Speaker 2: starting to run more, which I like. I think you're
- 7:05Speaker 2: really good in transition. I have the utmost confidence in
- 7:08Speaker 2: Jalen Brunson as someone you can give the ball too
- 7:10Speaker 2: late in games and they get you a bucket. He's
- 7:12Speaker 2: also has a way better year this year distributing the
- 7:14Speaker 2: basketball and.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Running an offense. He looks more like a point guard
- 7:17Speaker 3: this year than he has at any time in his
- 7:19Speaker 3: career to me, so individually, like he's looking good, Kat
- 7:22Speaker 3: is looking good, and the offense as a hole is
- 7:24Speaker 3: looking good. I think that's what we're kind of like
- 7:27Speaker 3: resting our laurels on is the fact that this offense
- 7:29Speaker 3: is really freaking good and got off to like a
- 7:32Speaker 3: borderline historic start for the NBA. Yes, they kind of
- 7:35Speaker 3: slowed down a little bit, but you know, us Nick
- 7:37Speaker 3: fans were not used to that. We're used to like
- 7:39Speaker 3: grinding it out, playing defense and our offense being just
- 7:42Speaker 3: good enough. And it's kind of flipped where it's like,
- 7:43Speaker 3: our offense is really good, we just can't stop anybody exactly.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And God bless Jalen Brunson because he's an Eagles fan.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Thank God, Yeah he is.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I love him.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I love him for that.
- 7:54Speaker 2: But on the on the flip side of the coin, though,
- 7:56Speaker 2: biggest negatives that you've seen from this team thus far,
- 7:59Speaker 2: and with regard to the negative, is it a concern
- 8:02Speaker 2: for you as you look towards the postseason?
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the biggest negative is a defense. You know,
- 8:07Speaker 3: this this team is something we thought this team was
- 8:09Speaker 3: going to be a fantastic defensive team. You get mikel Bridges,
- 8:12Speaker 3: you pay them with Og and Anobi on the wings
- 8:14Speaker 3: and it's like that, you know, you can argue is
- 8:17Speaker 3: a top two three defensive tandem on the wings there.
- 8:20Speaker 3: And you know, mckil bridges came over and he's been
- 8:23Speaker 3: very underwhelming defensively. He's had his moments and he's been
- 8:26Speaker 3: getting better, but they haven't been the tandem that we
- 8:29Speaker 3: thought they would be. They are missing Hartenstein they're missing
- 8:32Speaker 3: Mitchell Robinson thankfully who we get back, you know, and Kat,
- 8:36Speaker 3: like I said, he's he's been bad in drop coverage.
- 8:38Speaker 3: He forgets to rotate sometimes. So you know, when you
- 8:41Speaker 3: have Jalen Brunson out there, you can't afford Karl Anthony
- 8:44Speaker 3: Towns to have these defensive lapses because then you're playing
- 8:46Speaker 3: three on five and then especially with mckel not, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 3: fighting over screens like he usually did, or you know,
- 8:52Speaker 3: being a point of fact attack of defender as he's
- 8:54Speaker 3: typically in his whole career. You know, this defense has
- 8:57Speaker 3: been just downright awful at times.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Why he hasn't been fighting through those screens? He thinks,
- 9:01Speaker 2: I don't know's.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I don't know if it's effort, I don't know if
- 9:07Speaker 3: it's scheme.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Scheme, That's what I'm actually wondering.
- 9:11Speaker 3: If it is, Yeah, I mean a lot of their
- 9:12Speaker 3: scheme is drop coverage, so cat would drop, but then
- 9:15Speaker 3: it's up to the person being screened to fight over
- 9:16Speaker 3: the screen as hard as possible and put picture over
- 9:18Speaker 3: the top. And he's just not doing it. He's been
- 9:20Speaker 3: doing a better job lately, but there's still time, Like
- 9:22Speaker 3: there's still times where he's it's very underwhelming.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 3: So, and I think that's the thing with Michael mckel
- 9:28Speaker 3: has been. He's been good offensively here and there, it's
- 9:30Speaker 3: just it's just like a crap shoot with him. And
- 9:32Speaker 3: I think they just needs to be more consistency. And
- 9:35Speaker 3: you know, I think getting Mitch back will help a lot.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Or you can put him at the five, cat at
- 9:39Speaker 3: the four and ket. You know, we saw when they
- 9:42Speaker 3: beat the Nuggets in the playoffs, like he did a
- 9:43Speaker 3: phenomenal job defensively that series because he had go Bear
- 9:46Speaker 3: next to him. And I think that's probably the best
- 9:48Speaker 3: version of this team defensively. Uh. And that's what I'm
- 9:51Speaker 3: hoping for because I do think that that's what they're
- 9:53Speaker 3: going to need, as much as Mitchell Robinson is a
- 9:55Speaker 3: zero on the offensive end, like the defense.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Well, let's dive into josh A Knicks
- 10:03Speaker 2: report card here. I'd like to go through a few
- 10:05Speaker 2: players here. I'd like for you to give me a
- 10:08Speaker 2: grade for each of these players and then a brief
- 10:10Speaker 2: explanation as to why he gave that grade for them.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So let's start off with a gentleman you talked about earlier.
- 10:16Speaker 2: I have a feeling he's going to be an A plus.
- 10:17Speaker 2: But let's get your thoughts here, Jalen Brunson, what grade
- 10:21Speaker 2: do you give him? And brief explanation as to why.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Jalen's and A plus. He's a captain. I think
- 10:26Speaker 3: he's had a phenomenal year. He's adjusted his game on
- 10:29Speaker 3: the oppositieve end to include others. I think he's made
- 10:31Speaker 3: a conscious effort to distribute the basketball, be more of
- 10:33Speaker 3: a playmaker, lead, transition, clutch, I mean, just everything you
- 10:36Speaker 3: want in a point guard, franchise player. A plus for sure.
- 10:39Speaker 2: All right, kt Man, Kat Karl, Anthony Towns. What do
- 10:43Speaker 2: you give him in terms of the grade and.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Why I'm gonna givehi an as he's been phenomenal offensively.
- 10:49Speaker 3: He's been a beast on the boards as well. He's
- 10:51Speaker 3: been a great passer, great playmaker, someone we can use
- 10:54Speaker 3: a hub on the oppositive end. Just wish we had
- 10:57Speaker 3: more on the defensive end. Like I said, he's not
- 10:59Speaker 3: good in he forgets to rotate sometimes, but he's been
- 11:02Speaker 3: so good offensively that it's hard to give him anything
- 11:04Speaker 3: less than a minus.
- 11:05Speaker 1: All right, very good? Og Here do you what do
- 11:09Speaker 1: you think with him and the grade you give him and.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Why Og is interesting because Og got off to such
- 11:15Speaker 3: a really good start to the year, then had a
- 11:17Speaker 3: really bad slump and then was starting to come back
- 11:19Speaker 3: a little bit then got hurt. I'm gonna give him
- 11:21Speaker 3: a b okay Og somebody who It's interesting because a
- 11:25Speaker 3: lot of teams like have like a big three or
- 11:26Speaker 3: your third option right now that goes back and forth
- 11:29Speaker 3: between McKellen and Og, and Og can be that, but
- 11:32Speaker 3: sometimes he kind of just disappears and it's weird. But
- 11:35Speaker 3: he's defensively, he's been our best player, Yes, sir.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Absolutely, And we were talking about him a little earlier.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Next on the list here in terms of the report card,
- 11:44Speaker 2: Michael Bridges. Wow, Like I'm wondering if you were actually
- 11:49Speaker 2: gonna give him maybe like a C C minus somewhere
- 11:52Speaker 2: around there.
- 11:53Speaker 1: What do you think C plus?
- 11:54Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, he has gotten better. I think he got
- 11:56Speaker 3: off to a really rough start to the year, especially
- 11:59Speaker 3: shooting the bass ball. Defensively, it looked like the Knicks
- 12:02Speaker 3: we're going to regret trading for him. But he has
- 12:04Speaker 3: come around offensively. He's had moments offensively where he has
- 12:07Speaker 3: carried us and hit clutch shots. So I got to
- 12:09Speaker 3: give him credit there. He's also gotten better defensively. I
- 12:12Speaker 3: don't know if it's a conditioning thing or an effort thing,
- 12:14Speaker 3: but he's definitely getting better defensively. But he's not He's
- 12:18Speaker 3: not what we signed up for. This is not the
- 12:19Speaker 3: Mickael Bridges overall that Knicks fans wanted and one that
- 12:23Speaker 3: we thought could take us over the top against the Celtics.
- 12:25Speaker 3: So until he starts playing consistently, I can't get more
- 12:27Speaker 3: than a seety plus.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Josh, it's interesting that you mentioned about Michel Bridges
- 12:32Speaker 2: and he's been fascinating for me to watch in terms
- 12:34Speaker 2: of his career, and I have been of course. Again,
- 12:37Speaker 2: the Sixers draft him and then a few hours later
- 12:39Speaker 2: they end up trading him.
- 12:40Speaker 1: His mom worked for the team.
- 12:41Speaker 3: How could you sadly?
- 12:42Speaker 1: I know, it's I mean, we're like, oh my god,
- 12:44Speaker 1: this is really cool, what a great storyline. Okay, well
- 12:47Speaker 1: so we'll send him off someplace else. Oh my goodness,
- 12:49Speaker 1: it's ridiculous.
- 12:50Speaker 2: But with regard to his great like, I wonder if
- 12:52Speaker 2: there's players and every now and that we don't hear
- 12:54Speaker 2: necessarily these stories where they've been in a league a
- 12:56Speaker 2: certain period of time and maybe the sport is just
- 12:59Speaker 2: take on something else within their bodies, where then they
- 13:03Speaker 2: have to adjust after a certain period of time being
- 13:05Speaker 2: in the league and their bodies have to adjust, And
- 13:07Speaker 2: I wonder if maybe he's going through something like that.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I'm not trying to make an excuse for him, because
- 13:12Speaker 2: we're not necessarily seeing the same Michael Bridges that we
- 13:14Speaker 2: have seen in the past, and I just it's really
- 13:17Speaker 2: mind boggling for me, and I wonder if certain guys
- 13:20Speaker 2: we do see it in the NBA, certain guys get
- 13:22Speaker 2: to a certain point in their career and they have
- 13:24Speaker 2: to start restructuring and altering their play on the court
- 13:29Speaker 2: in order for them to have that longevity within the league.
- 13:32Speaker 2: And we see it in other sports too, but I
- 13:34Speaker 2: wonder if that is a possibility with Bridges here.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I also think it's his role. I mean, he
- 13:39Speaker 3: was on the next team where he was a number
- 13:40Speaker 3: one option and everything ran through him. He was the guy.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And now you're going to a situation where like you
- 13:45Speaker 3: are arguably the fourth option on offense, third option you know,
- 13:49Speaker 3: on its best day, and kind of just fitting in there.
- 13:51Speaker 3: So I think he might have had a hard time
- 13:52Speaker 3: adjusting to that offensively. Offensively, I think what you're saying
- 13:56Speaker 3: might hold some weight. Maybe he wasn't in shape.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I don't know these guys. I don't want to make
- 14:02Speaker 3: like accusation speculating, but it just seemed like he just
- 14:06Speaker 3: wasn't fighting over screens. Maybe a strength, I don't know.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:09Speaker 3: But he's he's gotten better. I'll give him that. Like
- 14:11Speaker 3: it's as the season's gotten on, he's gotten better on
- 14:13Speaker 3: the defensive.
- 14:14Speaker 1: End for sure.
- 14:14Speaker 2: All right, Well, the next player on the list here
- 14:16Speaker 2: I want to dive into. I mean, he is the
- 14:18Speaker 2: bane of Philadelphia seventy six ers fans existence because of
- 14:23Speaker 2: what he did during the last time that these two teams,
- 14:26Speaker 2: the Sixers and the Knicks faced each other in the postseason.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Josh Hart oh Man, Like what a shooter times out
- 14:32Speaker 2: there on the court. I mean, when you need him,
- 14:33Speaker 2: he's able to come through at times during in big spots.
- 14:36Speaker 2: But what grade would you give Josh Hart and and
- 14:40Speaker 2: why he's an A A plus? He's he's the heart
- 14:43Speaker 2: and soul of the team.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Without him, I don't know if this team functions. It's
- 14:47Speaker 3: like talking about romantic partner. I love Josh hart I
- 14:50Speaker 3: love everything about him. He's he's our biggest motor. He's
- 14:54Speaker 3: our hardest playing player. He's somebody who is fearless. He
- 14:58Speaker 3: can he will guard anybody any time. You can trust.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I don't know if you can trust with the basketball.
- 15:01Speaker 3: He has some stupid turno or sometimes, but you take
- 15:04Speaker 3: the good with the bad, right, He's just a basketball player.
- 15:07Speaker 3: He's somebody if I had a kid, if I had
- 15:08Speaker 3: a sign, I'd pointed, Josh Harden's like a watch him play?
- 15:11Speaker 1: All right? Oh very good? Yes, all right.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Next on the list here we got two more. Deuce McBride.
- 15:17Speaker 2: What's his great and why Deuce is a B plus
- 15:20Speaker 2: for me? B Deuce for his role coming off the bench,
- 15:24Speaker 2: he's been phenomenal. He did go through a little bit
- 15:26Speaker 2: of a shooting slump. He's he's a really good point
- 15:29Speaker 2: of attack of defender. Like he's somebody who you can
- 15:31Speaker 2: kind of insert on a smaller guard and he'll do
- 15:34Speaker 2: a decent job harassing them.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I would say B plus just because he had a
- 15:38Speaker 3: little bit of a slump there. But Deuce has been
- 15:39Speaker 3: everything that you know, Nick San's had won it end
- 15:42Speaker 3: ever since that night in Philadelphia last year. I don't
- 15:45Speaker 3: know what happened. I don't know if you're aware, but
- 15:47Speaker 3: last night last year in Philadelphia in January, he ate
- 15:50Speaker 3: like four threes in the first quarter. Yeah, and like
- 15:53Speaker 3: before that he was shooting like twenty six percent from
- 15:54Speaker 3: three for his career. And then since that night, it's
- 15:57Speaker 3: just been like he's a whole new person, Like it's
- 15:59Speaker 3: where did this come from?
- 16:00Speaker 1: The seventy six ers help other teams out and the
- 16:02Speaker 1: most bizarre.
- 16:04Speaker 3: It was like what is this? He hasn't He went
- 16:07Speaker 3: through a little bit of a slump, a little bit
- 16:09Speaker 3: of a slide, but he's back.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Obviously is a great, great bench piece for the Knicks.
- 16:14Speaker 2: And finally, campaign, what greade do you give him?
- 16:17Speaker 1: And why?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Campaign drives me absolute in same.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Yeah, crazyh Cam.
- 16:22Speaker 3: I'll give a C plus because they have had moments
- 16:25Speaker 3: where he has been a vital piece off the bench.
- 16:27Speaker 3: The Knicks bench is very weak and they rely on Cam,
- 16:30Speaker 3: They rely on juice to score the basketball and the
- 16:32Speaker 3: kind of you know tread warder there, but his shots
- 16:34Speaker 3: lunch and just like it drives me up a wall
- 16:39Speaker 3: at times of ted scratching. Yes, yeah, and listen, I
- 16:42Speaker 3: know he was a six last years. I don't know
- 16:43Speaker 3: how much you went through it last year with him, but.
- 16:45Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but you love his energy, Like he's one
- 16:49Speaker 3: of those players that like when he's on your team,
- 16:51Speaker 3: like you don't mind the energy, but when you're playing
- 16:52Speaker 3: against him, it's like this guy, get him. I hate him.
- 16:55Speaker 3: So I appreciate the effort, I appreciate the passion, but
- 16:58Speaker 3: just real back, just reel back the shot selection a
- 17:01Speaker 3: little bit.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Absolutely absolutely all right, Well, Josh, before I let you go, buddy,
- 17:05Speaker 2: I just wanted to kind of get into more of
- 17:08Speaker 2: an overall theme here and just a quick question for
- 17:14Speaker 2: you as Knicks fans, as just as basketball fans are
- 17:17Speaker 2: looking at this latter part of the season that's going
- 17:19Speaker 2: to be coming up, because you know, as the Knicks
- 17:22Speaker 2: get back on the court this week after the All
- 17:24Speaker 2: Star break, I'm wondering what you're hoping to see from
- 17:27Speaker 2: this team, you know, which is already I think in
- 17:29Speaker 2: a pretty good position hoping to possibly get to the
- 17:33Speaker 2: top of the Eastern Conference. It remains to be seen
- 17:36Speaker 2: if that can be done. But what is the hope
- 17:39Speaker 2: that you and Knicks fans are really seeing, like a
- 17:42Speaker 2: realistic expectation and or hope for the rest of this season.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Here, I mean, I think an expectation. Honestly, I don't
- 17:49Speaker 3: think this team is better than the Calves, and I
- 17:51Speaker 3: don't think they're better than the Celtics, so for me
- 17:53Speaker 3: to expect them to go to Eastern Conference Finals would
- 17:55Speaker 3: be kind of unfair of me.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 17:57Speaker 3: The hope is to get there, though, And the hope
- 17:59Speaker 3: is to see them play the Celtics on Sunday and
- 18:01Speaker 3: win a very hard fought, defensive game in like one
- 18:04Speaker 3: oh three ninety eight with clutch shots and clutch stops,
- 18:07Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, we're back. Like that's the hope.
- 18:10Speaker 3: The hope is the next time we played the caz
- 18:11Speaker 3: we're able to stop Mobley and we're able to get
- 18:13Speaker 3: some key stops down the stretch, and even though it's
- 18:15Speaker 3: a low scoring game, the Knicks played defense and they
- 18:17Speaker 3: win the game. That's the hope, right right, Like, I
- 18:20Speaker 3: don't know if it's gonna happen, but that's the hope.
- 18:22Speaker 3: The hope is that they play they played defense. The
- 18:24Speaker 3: hope is like that team that showed up against Philadelphia
- 18:26Speaker 3: last year where they were getting offensive rebound after offensive
- 18:29Speaker 3: rebound and getting stops. That's that's what I'm hoping for.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I don't know if we'll get it.
- 18:33Speaker 3: That's the hope.
- 18:33Speaker 1: That's the hope.
