- 0:02The people have spoken. That's something I don't think I
- 0:05would take a chance out of. In my opinion, 218 strikeouts
- 0:08were a guy who was his third year in the league.
- 0:10Now that's a lot of strikeouts. And they're here to deliver.
- 0:15He wants to be on a competitor, period.
- 0:19Bringing you the facts. Jose brings trash man.
- 0:23I fell for that hard. While keeping you up to date,
- 0:26man, like what a like question mark that is after you leave
- 0:30Cole, you get him out of the game and all of a sudden you
- 0:33don't know what you're going to get on the other side on all
- 0:35fantasy baseball news. As a slouch man, he's.
- 0:39Just a a potential he's a. Slug.
- 0:41Dark Horse winner of a Cy Young candidate.
- 0:44Welcome to Bourbon Involved. Averaged like 160 strikeouts
- 0:48prior to his breakout year. I don't even call that breakout
- 0:50year. I would call that a career year
- 0:52because I don't think you have another.
- 0:53Year, we're going to talk about a lot more baseball.
- 0:56This is just the beginning guys. That's right.
- 1:02All. guys, that's it.
- 1:17This is bourbon and ball. Hold on one second.
- 1:19I got to set up our stream. Think you muted?
- 1:47All right, you got me now I'm I'm like pulling up the the
- 1:53recordings for Patriot Radio while I'm I'm talking.
- 1:56So I'm not paying attention to all this stuff that's going on.
- 2:00Silly me. So yeah, it's bourbon and Bald
- 2:04Man Show 44 coming. You do.
- 2:06I'm, I'm in the man cave. I'm on the other side of The
- 2:08Cave over here. Mikey VS down at Clearwater, FL
- 2:12Man, what a week of baseball. What a ton of information and
- 2:16fun videos that we have for you this week.
- 2:18A lot of stuff going on. Yeah.
- 2:21So this is bourbon and ball. Everybody's going to say, well,
- 2:23why bourbon? Why ball?
- 2:24Well, we like to sip bourbon. And, you know, I'm sipping out
- 2:27of our, our bourbon and ball bourbon glasses right here and I
- 2:33hope whoever's watching has a, has a nice little cocktail or
- 2:36something for themselves. And of course, we talk fantasy
- 2:39baseball for two hours. So we get pretty in depth.
- 2:42We talk about our, we've been doing fantasy baseball for over
- 2:4720 years now. It's an ESPN points league.
- 2:49So a lot of the information that we give you are via our points
- 2:53league information. But if you're a, you know, top
- 2:56ten, top 15 player pitcher in a points league, chances are you
- 2:59are the same in a cat's league pretty much.
- 3:03It's when once you get out of like the top 25 is when you
- 3:05start really splitting the hairs on that stuff.
- 3:08So yeah, we've been doing it for 20 years.
- 3:10And like I said, it's a head to head points league.
- 3:13And of course, with that said, we're coming to you from MBR
- 3:15Radio. We're coming to you from Patriot
- 3:16Radio, where Roku via Patriot Radio, NPR Radio, and we're
- 3:22simulcasting. You catch this again Saturday at
- 3:24Roku via New England Streaming Sports.
- 3:28And of course, with that said, a lot of military affiliation
- 3:31because we're using a lot of military platforms.
- 3:33I myself was a paratrooper for over six years.
- 3:35I've jumped to Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands and I was a
- 3:39combat veteran in Afghanistan in 2011 to 2012.
- 3:44Yeah, my father was in the Air Force or in Vietnam War let.
- 3:48Me. I can't hear you, Mike.
- 3:50Oh no, you can't hear me. Really.
- 3:58How about now? Let.
- 4:05Me, see if I can. Let me see if I can hook you up.
- 4:08Man, you unmuted me. OK, you're good.
- 4:10I got nothing. Really, I don't know.
- 4:16I don't know what's going on at my end.
- 4:17I thought I didn't click anything there.
- 4:20I can't hear it. What were you saying?
- 4:24Mikey V is experiencing some technical difficulties.
- 4:27He's going to be with us in probably a couple more seconds.
- 4:29Like I said, unfortunately we have a lot of stuff going on
- 4:35this week and he's a busy man so he cut up some slack, but what's
- 4:41back on? We are going to go around the
- 4:42league. Mikey V.
- 4:46You got me now. I got you brother back.
- 4:50Whoof. Military affiliation shoot.
- 4:55Well, father was Air Force during the Vietnam War and my
- 4:59grandfather was a paramedic during World War 2, so a lot of
- 5:03affiliates in my family as well. Doug.
- 5:05Awesome. That's good stuff.
- 5:07So we have a ton of stuff to go through.
- 5:10I'm hoping we get through it all.
- 5:12Yeah, you want to start, you want to just hop on and go
- 5:15around the league real quick. Let's just go around the league
- 5:17real quick. Let's see what we got here.
- 5:25All right, man, We're to lead off first and foremost.
- 5:30Let's talk about Diamondbacks third baseman Eugene Suarez.
- 5:33Eugeno Suarez as they pronounce it.
- 5:35So Saturday night, last Saturday, he against the Braves,
- 5:40he became just a 19th player in MLB history to do this.
- 5:44And I'm going to show you and I'm sure you all know what it
- 5:46is, but I'm going to add it to the stage.
- 5:47Take a look at this video. He hits 1 high and deep to left
- 5:52field. Are you handy?
- 5:54Suarez gets the Diamondbacks on the board.
- 5:58Suarez fly ball left field. It's going, it's going and it's
- 6:04gone. There's a little bit more up in
- 6:06the zone. Suarez.
- 6:08It's another fly ball. Oh my Gino. 3 bats and three
- 6:15home runs. The trifecta for Suarez.
- 6:19Last week. Was it best?
- 6:20This week have been terrific. Suarez live ball, There's 4.
- 6:26Edward Tied. There have been 19 four Homer
- 6:40games in Major League history, the last two by the Arizona
- 6:45Diamondbacks. Man, what a game for him.
- 6:51Unfortunately, something tells me that he was probably not on a
- 6:53ton of rosters, right? Because this is what he does.
- 6:58You know, just to mention, three of those home runs were off of
- 7:01Grant Holmes. Who is probably not going to
- 7:04last that much longer than that rotation he's going against the
- 7:06Dodgers. He did have a pretty good first
- 7:08and 2nd inning. They were clean, but I think he
- 7:10had a couple runners on the top of the third.
- 7:12So I'll keep a track on that. But I mean, you know, this is
- 7:16the type of player Eugeno Suarez is, right?
- 7:18I mean, you look at the year sitting 202, he's got 10 home
- 7:21runs. He's got 20 ribbies, 17 runs,
- 7:25one stolen base and he's got 30 strikeouts, right?
- 7:28He's got 83 total points. So he's giving you 3.1 a start,
- 7:31but he kills you for a few weeks and then this, right, he goes on
- 7:37a binge to begin the season with five home runs in four games.
- 7:40It's 4 now, so that's nine. So he's got 10 home runs.
- 7:43He hit you nine home runs in two weeks.
- 7:45So the last, you know, 2 1/2 weeks before he hit these four
- 7:48home runs, he was hitting under 200, right?
- 7:51187, almost 150. Horrible and a lot.
- 7:54And that's just the type of player he is.
- 7:56You're going to live and you're going to die with Eugeno Suarez,
- 7:58without a doubt. Yeah, look, he's a, he's a Major
- 8:02League Baseball player, no doubt.
- 8:04You know, fantasy aside, you know, from a he's not a 4A
- 8:08player, he's not a AAA player. He, he's a true Major League
- 8:11Baseball player. That's why he got the contract.
- 8:13He did when he got it. From a fantasy perspective
- 8:16though, you know, category league, he does check some boxes
- 8:20there. So there's power, there's some
- 8:21RBIs, but like you said, mostly in point leagues, he can kill
- 8:25you for two or three weeks and then he can win you a week.
- 8:28But really those aren't the guys that you want to consistently
- 8:31have in your line UPS. But at the same time though, you
- 8:34know, it's risky out there at third base of time, so you're
- 8:37going to have to take a risk for some people.
- 8:39I mean, with the Arizona Diamondback line up, the way
- 8:41they have it right now, that's guy I would want to take a risk
- 8:43on if I really needed a 3rd baseman, maybe a Josh Young,
- 8:48right? But yeah, it's cool.
- 8:51Feet four home runs. Not a lot of people do that,
- 8:53right? That's pretty dope.
- 8:54That's that's special. And like you said it it it's a
- 8:58line up that's getting better. Quinto Marte back from the IL
- 9:00today, he was one for one right away.
- 9:03He got a hit as first at bat. Love to hear.
- 9:05The only thing again, like they have him batting lead off,
- 9:08right, Corbin Carroll's second, it's the line up is just, it's
- 9:12very odd. Like the way they set that up.
- 9:15I, I don't particularly like it. I, you know, I like a set line
- 9:18up. I say these are you guys.
- 9:20I understand moving to mix in a couple people, but you know, I
- 9:23think the top of your order is the top of your order.
- 9:27So I don't necessarily agree with that.
- 9:30You know, I think now they moved Eugenio Suarez up, he's batting
- 9:32like third or or 4th. And then you got Josh Naylor
- 9:35batting after him. So Naylor's really got no
- 9:38protection in that line up. It's tough.
- 9:41I mean, they're still 17 and 14. They're three games above.
- 9:44They're in the talk. They're in the hunt.
- 9:46It's very competitive NLNLW. It'll be interesting to see what
- 9:51happens. You know, you know, Gallon look
- 9:54good against the Mets. Yeah, sounds ahead, looks great.
- 9:59You know, that's what you want to see.
- 10:00I just, I don't know what to expect from them.
- 10:03I, I mean, I know what to expect from Eugenio Suarez.
- 10:07Probably around 2:40 at the end of the year.
- 10:08Maybe 220. All right, Thirty home runs.
- 10:13Yeah, maybe 2.62 point 5, maybe. Maybe less.
- 10:18I don't, you know, he's already got 30 strikeouts. 30 strikeouts
- 10:21a month. That's thirty.
- 10:23I was thinking the same thing when you said that that's at
- 10:26least a strikeout for a game. But if you're getting thirty
- 10:29home runs, though, that's pretty good from a guy that really is
- 10:33going to strike out a lot. He's going to at least get some
- 10:35of that rebound back. But like you said earlier, he
- 10:37doesn't steal a lot of bases. So there's not a lot of
- 10:39opportunity to get that rebound points back.
- 10:43So it's just kind of tough. It's tough with him.
- 10:46You you you won't guys 60. I say that every week.
- 10:49You know, I try not to beat such a knock, but you got to call a
- 10:52spade a spade. I totally agree.
- 10:56All right, let's move on. Let's let's do the Yankees.
- 10:59There's a lot of stuff going on with the Yankees as you know,
- 11:01right? They closed with Devin Williams.
- 11:04He's been taking out close a role after getting, I mean, he
- 11:07was over 2 at 1125 ERA. He did have 4 saves, but he only
- 11:14gave you a points lead, 6.84 points on the year, 6 points on
- 11:18the year. That's not good.
- 11:21It's it's tough and and honestly, it's, it's kind of
- 11:26getting worse for them. I I mean, their bullpen isn't as
- 11:30good as they thought it would be.
- 11:31You're drafting a guy who you thought would be a top five
- 11:34closer who's not even a top 50 closer, I think.
- 11:37And now they're making moves and put and Stanton is going to go
- 11:41to the they moved him to the 60 day IL.
- 11:44So it tells me he's not going to be ready till who knows, right?
- 11:46I mean, they talked about maybe halfway through the year, then
- 11:49they talk about maybe the whole year he might be out.
- 11:54So they that's all up in the air on top of that.
- 11:57But they have been some good parts to that team, right?
- 12:01Aaron Judge, Max Reed were named AL pitcher and AL player of the
- 12:05month for April. And let's let's just give some
- 12:10positivity for the Yankees. They they were the first MLB
- 12:14team to hit 3 consecutive home runs to start a start a game off
- 12:17in the year and they did it twice.
- 12:21So the first team to do it twice to start a game, 33 hitters,
- 12:26three home runs back-to-back to back twice so far.
- 12:30And it's a month in, right. I got that clip for you.
- 12:34Let me play that because I just love watching home runs.
- 12:37This is I want to say, yeah, this is this was Tuesday.
- 12:41This was against Kyle Gibson, who has fallen and it's just
- 12:47supposed to show you how how much the Orioles have sank to
- 12:50start a guy like Gibson in my opinion.
- 12:53But here is here's the video. High 5 ball, right field and
- 13:00deep. Gloriano turns, looks.
- 13:03See ya, he's done it again. Red hot shrink.
- 13:06Grisham gives the Yankees a run. Anger high fly ball right field
- 13:14Loriano back track wall see ya. The Yankees open up with
- 13:20back-to-back blast, they lead to nothing.
- 13:29Driven out to right field, Loriano back turning looking see
- 13:34ya. Nope.
- 13:36They say Stanen no and he's gone a home run.
- 13:39So back-to-back to back by the Yankees.
- 13:42They're up 3, nothing. The only difference we've seen
- 13:48this once before this year is it took five pitches instead of
- 13:51three. So listen, I no one ever said
- 13:57that we're going to hit right. And and just to to even put that
- 14:02into bigger context, is Bellinger even hit a home run
- 14:05that inning. He got five runs.
- 14:07He hit four runs. So listen, they're no one ever
- 14:11said that we're going to hit. They're they're a very they're
- 14:15they're a great team, right. Their pitching is is all right.
- 14:19I think, you know, Max Freed, they got their race.
- 14:21I really think missing Cole for the years.
- 14:24I mean that's a hurt. I don't care how you look at it.
- 14:26I mean, you're telling me a rotation with Cole and Freed
- 14:29versus Freed and Rondon. I mean you're talking that's
- 14:32night day. In my opinion.
- 14:34I think that's going to hurt them in the long run.
- 14:36Obviously you can't replace an arm like like Garrett Cole, but
- 14:40they're they're doing well. I think they're, I mean, Judge
- 14:44is what, 35370 now Win a couple weeks without a home run but not
- 14:51striking out like he did last year, which is good to see.
- 14:55I they're definitely going to be in the thick of it in October.
- 14:57You can't take that away from them.
- 15:00No, they're a pretty streaky team, but they're they're always
- 15:03going to be hitters on that team.
- 15:05And surprisingly, like if you take Judge out of the equation
- 15:07too, they're pretty relatively young team with Valpi, with Ben
- 15:11Rice coming up last year. You know, just this first full
- 15:14season looks like the Power's staying with him this year,
- 15:16which is great for them to see. Even, you know, even talk of
- 15:20Goldschmidt, you know, even for a little bit, he's hitting for
- 15:22average. The Power's not there,
- 15:24obviously, but he's still hitting for average for him for
- 15:26sure. He's, I think what, still 37380?
- 15:30It was a little more, might be like 350 now.
- 15:33Yeah, he probably dipped a little bit there, but he still
- 15:36had I think about 12 ribbies or so.
- 15:37He's still contributing. So that whole lineup up and down
- 15:40is very, very good. And they're also just kind of
- 15:42still learning too as they're going back.
- 15:45To your first point, though, with Devin Williams, you know,
- 15:48we talked about the closes last week and that's just become a
- 15:51theme a little bit with what's going on.
- 15:53And you know, and and same on us last week, we didn't even
- 15:56mention the good closer of Mason Miller.
- 16:02I mean, that guy's been nailed this year.
- 16:04He deserves and. Got another win yesterday too.
- 16:07He he deserves the tip of the cap, you know, because that guy
- 16:10is, he's a stud, you know, and there's a lot of guys this year
- 16:14that are not studs. So it's just tough when you find
- 16:18them now, it seems. Because even in free agency, in
- 16:21fantasy, I don't see guys sticking out like thorns that
- 16:24are just crushing it in the bullpen.
- 16:26Feel like everyone's kind of getting knocked around a little
- 16:28bit this year. You know, I feel like there's a
- 16:30little bit of stuff, a shortage in closers and you know, if you
- 16:34have points in the, you know, set up, I feel like you're
- 16:37almost more successful doing that over a closer at times just
- 16:41because sometimes they're just more nails in in those type of
- 16:44situations in the 7th or 8th inning.
- 16:46So yeah, again, Devin Williams, it's a shame.
- 16:49It sucks. That was a big trade.
- 16:51That was a big acquisition for him.
- 16:53Not really working out right now.
- 16:54Hopefully he figures it out. It's very early in the season,
- 16:58but yeah, like you said about the rotation, rotation's going
- 17:00to be pretty good. Freed's killing it right now.
- 17:03Got to give him the credit for what he is right now.
- 17:05I think he's going to get the best out of him early on in his
- 17:08career as a Yankee than you will in the back end.
- 17:10I think this is what you're paying for now.
- 17:13Hopefully another playoff run is coming in place for him as well,
- 17:16so he'll have another chance of hitting another ring like he did
- 17:19with the Braves earlier in his career.
- 17:21So there's a lot of good things there.
- 17:23And just like one last note, I'm going on a little bit of right
- 17:25here, but you did mention Garrett Cole.
- 17:29And not for nothing, just between what we've seen the last
- 17:32few years with guys that are getting into like their mid 30s
- 17:35to 40s, they're not usually the same guy when they come back
- 17:40from these injuries. You know, Garrett Cole's, this
- 17:44is wear and tear already. Now he's going through this long
- 17:46rehab with this Tommy John surgery again.
- 17:50So I'm just not dead set on even him coming back as the same
- 17:54Garrett Cole that we knew and we loved, you know, when we first
- 17:58started this podcast like we did, because we did.
- 18:01We did talk about Garrett Cole a lot.
- 18:05But yeah, I, I don't know. I'm just going to probably stay
- 18:08away from Garrett Cole the next couple years and really see if
- 18:10he really does have it when he does come back.
- 18:12You know, just as AI guess, a deep, deep 2027 prediction.
- 18:18I guess I don't know, Going too far in my bag right now.
- 18:22I mean, it's interesting for sure.
- 18:23I think the only comparable maybe like I, I Jacob, you know,
- 18:27degrom type right? That was someone who later on in
- 18:30his career and he, he pitched good, he got to win his last
- 18:33start up. I think the only difference is
- 18:35though, if you look at innings on the arm, degrom has been hurt
- 18:40so much that he doesn't have the innings that Garrett Cole does
- 18:46because Garrett Cole wasn't hurt as much as him.
- 18:48And Garrett Cole went out there and gave me almost 200 innings
- 18:51and 200 strikeouts for like 5 years in a row, right?
- 18:55And that's the only difference between the two.
- 18:58So it it, it will be interesting to see how he does, how he
- 19:02bounces back. I mean, nothing in my mind tells
- 19:05me that he still probably won't go out of the top three rounds
- 19:08anyways. Someone's going to dig him.
- 19:10You think that early? I I think he's going to.
- 19:12I think he's going to fall. I think he's going to fall.
- 19:15If he if he if he was back at the beginning of the year,
- 19:19because I'm I, you know, forgot he's still going to miss another
- 19:21half year next year, right. So you're talking about maybe
- 19:24after, after this, the break, if he came back like a like
- 19:29Strider's doing now and you know, Strider at the beginning
- 19:31of the year, you, I could definitely see him go third or
- 19:34fourth round. If now that he's a half year now
- 19:37I'm, I'm going to step back and say, well, maybe the 7th, 8th,
- 19:44right, right around there. I mean, that's kind of where
- 19:49right? Right around where Strider went.
- 19:52I think that's a good evaluation there.
- 19:54I think stride is a good, good talking point right there.
- 19:57You know, Sandy, he was healthy in spring training.
- 20:00He was his first of all season. Coming back this year, he fell
- 20:03in a lot of drafts and then like right before drafts, he kind of
- 20:07climbed up a little bit because he was looking good.
- 20:10But I think Eric Cole is in just a different tier.
- 20:13So like you said, I think maybe like fifth round, you know.
- 20:18Like you said, the Grom, like you know, the Grom was kind of
- 20:20high on draft boards this year too.
- 20:23People had kind of a high ceiling fan I think, or
- 20:26expectations at least. They're paying off.
- 20:28He's paying off going six or seven.
- 20:30They they're taking the training wheels off.
- 20:33They're riding them. They're going to, although
- 20:35something tells me that Texas, they're underperforming.
- 20:39You know, Seger's on the IL Simeon's having a horrible year.
- 20:43Someone tells. Me that you know you, I would be
- 20:47surprised if degrom gets shut down like a month before the
- 20:49season ends, maybe just because of the innings.
- 20:52And they're just like, hey, listen, we're we're out of this
- 20:54race, right? We're we're we're nowhere close
- 20:56to it. There's no point in US putting
- 20:58you out there. So I could I could definitely
- 21:01see them shutting degrom down early just because it's just I
- 21:04mean, it's a very underperforming year for them,
- 21:07Although I will say Nate of ALDI is we're going to talk about him
- 21:10later on. He has been a a diamond on the
- 21:13rough for them. I want to say like, you know,
- 21:16they had signed they even even before the extension, like he
- 21:19still went out there and he I mean, yeah, he got an IL stint
- 21:24here or there, but he still to me overproduced his contract,
- 21:28overperformed his contract. I think he could be worth a lot
- 21:31more. And and we'll look at his
- 21:32numbers for this year. But even last year he still
- 21:34finished the top 25, top 30, you know, fantasy picture.
- 21:38The strikeouts are there. The the velocity's there.
- 21:41So that to me tells me, you know, if, if they can keep those
- 21:46two guys, you know, and, and I, I know Vivaldi will be back.
- 21:50I'm not sure if degrom has another year left on his
- 21:52contract. But you know, if you bring those
- 21:54two guys back and maybe, you know, lock up something at the
- 21:58end of that rotation, that offense, though, is going to
- 22:01need a revamp. That's that's, that's the thorn.
- 22:04You know, they're Dolores Garcia.
- 22:07That experiment's over. Unfortunately, I think you, you
- 22:11just get what you can for him. I mean, he's still a capable
- 22:13hitter. I'm not saying he's bad, just
- 22:14strikes out a ton. You know, Marcus Simeon and we
- 22:19all said Corey Seeger, right? We knew what they were getting
- 22:21when they signed to Corey Seeger.
- 22:22We knew they, he wasn't going to go out there and give you, you
- 22:26know, every single game or, you know, 140 games a year.
- 22:30We knew he wasn't going to do that.
- 22:31And now you're seeing it. And I don't know why it's a
- 22:35surprise to people that he's hitting the IL again, you know,
- 22:39and he's older too. So, you know, the the
- 22:41expectation in putting up like those, you know, World Series
- 22:46MVP numbers and 3:50 or whatever, they're out the
- 22:49window. Totally.
- 22:51They're going to have to make a decision, I think because their
- 22:53team is aging out a little bit. Degrom, I just looked up, he
- 22:57does have a contract club option all the way through 2028.
- 23:00So he's got this year, he's got next year.
- 23:03He's he just signed that deal. It's a five year deal.
- 23:06So he's going to be sticking around for a little bit.
- 23:08Let me pull up Corey Seeger's contract here.
- 23:10This is this is a 10A10 year contract that Corey Seeger's on.
- 23:14Yeah, I know they have him for for a while.
- 23:17So he's, he's on the club until 2032.
- 23:21So he's, he's there for forever too.
- 23:24So it's they committed, they're they're all in is what is what
- 23:29we were talking about here. So that's interesting because
- 23:33now if you look at these contracts and if they're all in
- 23:35on on Seeger, they got the ground for five years, they're
- 23:38kind of creating this little pocket right now.
- 23:40So they're going to be in, I think, talks in free agency this
- 23:45coming year when it comes to big name free agents, because I
- 23:49think they got a lot of holes that they need to fix and they
- 23:52have a lot of commitment to the team already at this point.
- 23:55So they're going to go and like you said about native ALDI too,
- 23:58What a hoss. He's just a hoss.
- 24:00He's the he is a great pitcher. He is, he is one of those guys
- 24:04that he's probably not going to make Hall of Fame, but he should
- 24:08be talked about more. You know, he's going to be like
- 24:10my my Derek Lee category and my Maglio Adonia's category, you
- 24:15know, because those guys had their moments in their careers
- 24:18where they were like one of the best pitchers or hitters in the
- 24:22league. And I think Nate, Nate Ivaldi's
- 24:25done enough in the in his career, I think to to prove
- 24:28that. So yeah, yeah, he's, he should
- 24:31be highlighted a little bit more.
- 24:32I'm glad we're going to talk about him later.
- 24:34Yeah, Oh, for sure. I, I have him on my in the Iron
- 24:37Hour Bourbon League and he's been, he's been lights out, he's
- 24:39been nails. Bourbon League, my team is
- 24:43atrocious by the way, I, I I'm taking a look at it earlier and
- 24:47I I might have to make some moves.
- 24:51So hey. Call me up.
- 24:52I'm. Going to I'm going to let that
- 24:54happen there 4. Wins in a row this week.
- 24:56It's it's going to be tough. I think we got the same amount
- 24:58of pictures. I think I'm down by like 10.
- 25:01So it's it's going to be it's going to be tough, but all
- 25:05right, let's let's move on. And this is more of just what
- 25:08what we've seen. This is what I've seen anyways.
- 25:11Blue Jays outfielder bar show, Dalton bar show, right.
- 25:16We all remember him. He was a he was a big prospect.
- 25:18Catcher came up, actually wasn't pretty bad, wasn't too bad maybe
- 25:21three years ago had a really good year.
- 25:23He went from the catcher to an outfielder now.
- 25:26And he played the Red Sox on Tuesday and he's been swinging a
- 25:29hot bat. By the way.
- 25:30I think he's hit like 2-2 or three home runs this week.
- 25:33So something to look at might be a guy you want to add, you know,
- 25:36just as a as a as a flyer or somebody of the filling out
- 25:40field, or, you know, just maybe see who they play and and start
- 25:45them based off match ups. Somebody to look at.
- 25:48But he made this play and it makes me laugh because people
- 25:52say it's the play of the year. People say it's not the play of
- 25:55the year because he did it to himself.
- 25:57So let me show you the video and and take a look.
- 26:02He is the engine of this team. I fly ball center field.
- 26:09Varsha's back, he falls down. Oh my goodness, did he just do
- 26:15that? Are you kidding me?
- 26:17He made the catch after falling down behind his back.
- 26:21Wow, a circus catch if you have ever seen one.
- 26:26Oh my God, that was ridiculous. The just the pure concentration.
- 26:32Oh my. Goodness, I mean he hits in
- 26:35barrel rolls somehow keeps his eye on this.
- 26:38Watch this. First I thought this was getting
- 26:41out of the ballpark. Loses his footing.
- 26:44How does he keep his eye on that ball and still make the backhand
- 26:48catch? That was unbelievable.
- 26:49You must be joking. Man, what a, what a catch.
- 26:56What a catch. I I mean, obviously you can say,
- 26:58well, he did it to himself. It should have just been a
- 27:00routine ball, but the theatrics in it, I, I think it obviously
- 27:04it was probably one of the best, best defensive plays so far this
- 27:07year. I just think like I, I want to
- 27:10say that might have been Loomer Loney that was on the side of
- 27:13that, but he would, you know, I think he was absolutely right.
- 27:18You know, the guy falls down, trips over his own 2 feet, rolls
- 27:22over, still manages to catch the ball backhanded behind him is I
- 27:26mean, it's a great play. That's a great play.
- 27:28Play of the year so far, 100%. That's just how.
- 27:33What else can you say about it? Oops.
- 27:35You have to, you have to relocate the ball again, try to
- 27:37catch it. That's one of the toughest
- 27:40things to do in sports is is look at a ball, fly ball, lose
- 27:43it, track it, get in position. That is even if he did it to
- 27:48himself, it doesn't matter. It looked awesome.
- 27:52So Yep, play of the year. Awesome.
- 27:55Well, I'm glad we both agree on that one.
- 27:57The next one I don't think we will agree on too much.
- 27:59Oh no. Astro Astani pitcher Lance
- 28:02Mccullers, junior, making his return to the mat.
- 28:05He's starting Sunday. This is going to be his first
- 28:09start since 2022. This is three years in the
- 28:13making. Has a really good year.
- 28:16You know, career numbers. He's 49 and 32.
- 28:19He's got a 3-4 ERA, seven seasons, all with Houston.
- 28:23But here's the thing, what's your expectation?
- 28:27What's your reaction? Because I know what mine are,
- 28:29but I'd love to hear what yours are.
- 28:30Because you're a Lance guy. You've been a Lance guy since
- 28:35since man, since forever, since he came out.
- 28:38You know, unfortunately he's been hurt every single year,
- 28:42pretty much every single year. So yeah, what's what?
- 28:47What's your expectations? So I'm going to take a step back
- 28:50here and instead of thinking from a fantasy perspective, I'm
- 28:53going to ask the question that you just asked to the Houston
- 28:56Astros and be like, what do I expect from from Lance Mccullers
- 28:59this year? And I expect him to eat some
- 29:02innings up for him, but really just not going to push it.
- 29:05He's not going to push it at all this year.
- 29:07I think he's going to go, you know, his first outing is
- 29:09probably going to be about 5 innings.
- 29:11Now he is getting stretched out. I was following his some of his
- 29:13rehabs. He's throwing 70 to 80 pitches
- 29:16in these in these games. So he is geared up to go the
- 29:19distance if he wants to. And I don't know, like at this
- 29:23point you just don't, you can't bank on a guy coming back from a
- 29:26surgery like that coming back to the major leagues and just being
- 29:29like a, a top 20 pitcher. That's just not realistic.
- 29:32That's just not really what you're looking for.
- 29:35So now kick it back to fantasy after saying all that.
- 29:38It's a guy that's definitely rosterable, but you're just
- 29:41you're just not going to play him every single week.
- 29:43I think you're going to have to let him obviously air out first.
- 29:46You're going to have to see some starts.
- 29:47You're going to see if he's going to stay healthy first.
- 29:49There's a lot of question marks there.
- 29:52Now. I think we've learned our lesson
- 29:54this year already with pitchers that are coming back from
- 29:57injuries and it is. It's all unfolding and we're
- 30:02going to talk about it more in the Hurt Locker.
- 30:05I'm going to hate this Hurt Logger segment because I know I
- 30:07got guys up there, especially one that's in the Bourbon League
- 30:11that that obviously we've talked about multiple times on this
- 30:15show. But going back to to the
- 30:17original point though, it's just like these guys, you just can't,
- 30:20you can't bank on being a top of form and moving forward.
- 30:24You know, a guy like Grayson Rodriguez too, coming back.
- 30:28I know he's young, but it's just like, man, you can't expect him
- 30:31to just go out there and just whip it right away for the
- 30:34people that are holding on to them right now.
- 30:36Same thing with Shane Bieber. It's like, you know, the Biebs,
- 30:38we love the Biebs. But at the same time, though,
- 30:40it's like you got a temp. Your expectation with some of
- 30:42these guys, again, they're going to come back later in the season
- 30:46and they're going to eat your innings.
- 30:47That's what they want. So going back to Lance, I think
- 30:50he's just going to be a little innings eater.
- 30:52Is he going to go 6 or 7 some of these games?
- 30:54Yeah, definitely. I think he will if he stays
- 30:56healthy. But in the beginning you just
- 30:58got to let him air out first couple starts here and there.
- 31:02That's my expectation. I'm going through a lot of
- 31:05injuries right now though with my team.
- 31:08So I'm not going to probably go out and get a guy that is
- 31:12already injury prone and and roster him along with my other
- 31:18injury guys already. You know, it's already been a
- 31:21tough year for me, Prayer for injuries when it comes to
- 31:24pitching for sure. So I'm just not going to go out
- 31:28there and take a risk on a guy now at this point and say, yeah,
- 31:31I'm going to roster him. I'd rather take a risk on like a
- 31:34a Tyler McGill that's out there right now in a lot of leagues
- 31:37still that's pitching for the Mets, that's pitching relatively
- 31:40well. He's got good metrics and stuff.
- 31:42So I think I'd rather go out and roster him than a guy that's
- 31:45coming back from a three-year injury, almost.
- 31:48So as much as I love you, Lance, I love you black cleats, I love
- 31:52I love you style. Seen you since day one.
- 31:55But, you know, I think this time he's going to have to hit the
- 31:57bench right now. See, I, I, I actually don't
- 32:02think he's rosterable. I wouldn't pick him up, you
- 32:05know, And you, you nailed it, though.
- 32:07You're right. You were like, well, how many
- 32:09pitchers have come back from these long IL stints that you're
- 32:14expecting to give you wins and and just kind of hop back on the
- 32:18saddle? But they haven't done that,
- 32:20right? Shane, Shane Mcculloughan from
- 32:24from Tampa Bay, he hasn't even gotten a chance to play yet.
- 32:27He got hurt during spring training, right?
- 32:29And he looked amazing during spring training.
- 32:33Sandy Alecantra, another one, right?
- 32:37He actually, he came out and he had really good like 2-2 or
- 32:41three starts, but he's been getting whacked pretty hard.
- 32:43The last couple, you know, Walker Buehler, he look, he got
- 32:47whacked his first start, turned the ship around, but you know,
- 32:49he's back on the IL, right? So it's like it's almost like
- 32:54what we always say about strikeouts, right?
- 32:57You can't have three or four or five guys that you know will
- 33:01give you 150 plus strikeouts a year, right?
- 33:04You can't have a team that's has Matt Olsen, that has even like a
- 33:09De La Cruz and AJ Rod. Like if you have three or four
- 33:13of those players, like, yeah, OK, their end numbers might look
- 33:16decent, right? You might get 30 plus home runs
- 33:18from Olsen. But fantasy isn't about the
- 33:23season. It's about the week or the day
- 33:25based off of your your league, based off of your format.
- 33:29So, yeah, hey, you know what, J Rod?
- 33:31And he gave me, you know, 20 plus points this week, next
- 33:35week. I've seen him give somebody -5
- 33:38points for an entire week -5 points for a week.
- 33:41You were better off not playing anybody, you know, but that
- 33:46Austin Riley, like, if you have a bunch of those people, yeah,
- 33:49they'll crush you. You could be the the top
- 33:51performer that week if they all hit.
- 33:54And then the very next week, you could be the lowest because they
- 33:57won't hit. They'll strike out and they'll
- 33:59drag your entire roster down with them.
- 34:01And I use that metaphor because I believe it's the same with
- 34:05injury prone pitchers. I don't think you should have a
- 34:08roster with three or four pitchers that you know are
- 34:13injury prone. Like, we don't have to hide it.
- 34:15We all know these guys are injury prone, right?
- 34:17We know Sandy's been injury prone, right?
- 34:19He's coming back. We know got even even I hate to
- 34:23say, but Strider is injury prone now.
- 34:25I mean he got hurt even before the Tommy John like he had a
- 34:28hamstring issue. He was on he was out for like a
- 34:30couple months two years ago. Then he comes back pitches
- 34:34pitches a good start hurt hamstring.
- 34:37I think again, right, it was hamstring or lat and now he's
- 34:41out. But it's you like it.
- 34:45You can't have rosters like a four or five of these type of
- 34:49players because they'll they'll kill you.
- 34:52And I think Lance Mccullers hasn't really shown me, you
- 34:56know, anything maybe like in 2001 or 2 or 2020 or 2021 when
- 35:04he first came on, you know, his first or second year, he ended
- 35:07it great. I think he ended up winning
- 35:08like, you know, 10 or 12 games that year and, and you know,
- 35:12because they called them up, pitched amazing.
- 35:15And then everybody started drafting them early and that's
- 35:17when all those injuries started happening.
- 35:20I don't think I would, I don't think I would draft.
- 35:21I don't think I would take a flyer on him.
- 35:23I, I wouldn't roster him. I, you know, I just, you know,
- 35:27you wait and see. You know, obviously the thing
- 35:30about that is let's wait and see.
- 35:32But then while you're waiting, somebody else is going to scoop
- 35:34them up and maybe they can reap those benefits.
- 35:36And you might not. But you also got to say to
- 35:39yourself, well, you know, let him pick him up and if he gets
- 35:41hurt again, well, then hey, I made the right move.
- 35:44There's so many different ways to look at it, but I just, I, I
- 35:47don't know if I would take a roster spot on him.
- 35:50Really don't. Not right now anyways.
- 35:52No, and honestly, you just kind of have to go with it too.
- 35:55You just kind of have to just be like, hey, this is what I truly
- 35:58believe in. Like we're talking about here.
- 36:00You just got to trust your instincts on it.
- 36:02And then when that person does pick them up and then they kind
- 36:05of just go South, maybe like we kind of thought then it's like,
- 36:08hey, look at that. No harm, no foul there.
- 36:09I'm glad I picked up Tyler McGill.
- 36:12You know, you never know. That's that's kind of the
- 36:14difference sometimes is, oh man, I just missed out on that guy or
- 36:19well, I missed out on this guy. I'll get this guy instead and
- 36:22maybe it works out for you. But yeah, I mean, depending on
- 36:26the league you're in, if it's the deeper league, I guess he's,
- 36:29you know, a flyer guy, you know, maybe week to week guy.
- 36:34But yeah, yeah, we'll see what happens.
- 36:36And I, I will say I know we're talking about Goldie.
- 36:39He just had a three run shot. And he was due.
- 36:43He was due. He's.
- 36:44He's, I'm telling you, he wasn't a bad pick.
- 36:46You got him really, really late, cut down on the strikeouts.
- 36:50He looks, you know, this is the sunset, I think for his career.
- 36:55So, you know, not a Hall of Famer unfortunately for me, but
- 37:00he's on the cusp. There's no doubt about it.
- 37:02Then former MVP. It's just unfortunate that when
- 37:06he went to the Cardinals, they didn't really give him much
- 37:09ammo. I mean, Arenado they got, but
- 37:11then it was there was nobody else in that line up.
- 37:13So kind of hurt his numbers, I think.
- 37:17And then last but not least, we have Guardians third baseman
- 37:20Jose Ramirez sets the team record with 250 stolen bases.
- 37:24He also had one today. So he's got 251.
- 37:28Good chance he'll get the 300, in my opinion.
- 37:31Maybe the 3:50, you know, still in his early 30s.
- 37:34I want to say he's maybe 31. So he still has time.
- 37:38I mean, he's him. He's on a Hall of Fame path for
- 37:41me. But again, I mean, a lot of guys
- 37:44are and then they hit that, you know, 3231 age and that's when
- 37:49you start to see that separation between a true Hall of Famer and
- 37:53a pretend. So he's on that cusp where he
- 37:56can go either way. And obviously, you know,
- 37:59starting the year off a little slower than usual like he did
- 38:01last year, but he's still stealing bases.
- 38:04So unfortunately, the Guardians, they just, they don't, they're
- 38:09not much. They're there, They're there.
- 38:11That's it. Yeah, they have an attraction in
- 38:14in Jose Ramirez. We we were talking in our group
- 38:17chat earlier this week about Jose Ramirez and Sean.
- 38:21Sean was kind of dunking on him a little bit.
- 38:24And I, I pulled up the numbers. I think I even screenshotted
- 38:27him. I put him in the chat and it was
- 38:29almost like looking in a mirror where he was to this point
- 38:33versus what he was last year. And I think he worked out pretty
- 38:37well last year. Other thing with Jose Ramirez
- 38:40too, is that he doesn't get injured like his his career.
- 38:43He's been relatively healthy. He hasn't had any like crazy
- 38:47major issues, you know, knock on wood, obviously, but.
- 38:50You know, I, I, I, I do have to say he was pulled from the game
- 38:54today for a pitch runner. He was 2 for two and when he hit
- 39:01his second single, they pulled him for a runner.
- 39:05So, OK, obviously some kind of injury, right?
- 39:11Like hopefully it's just like cramp but I mean going around
- 39:15lately, but. Can't say it was a jinx when it
- 39:18already happened, right? I mean we what a terrible thing,
- 39:23but still. A stud.
- 39:24Still a stud, hands down. I mean previous to that he's
- 39:28been pretty relatively healthy. So I'd like again, the moving
- 39:33forward, I expect nothing less from him.
- 39:35By that I mean, Kendall Marte is, is about 33 years old too.
- 39:39He's he's, you know, swinging the bat pretty well for his age
- 39:42too, you know, And he's kind of like that same similar size too,
- 39:46kind of a little bit shorter. It's got a little bit bump to
- 39:49him, you know, a little durability to him, like kind of
- 39:52similar players too. They kind of have the same
- 39:54element of game. But yeah, I don't expect Jose
- 39:59Bears to slow down and I think he is on the right projectile to
- 40:02be a Hall of Famer regardless of who he's playing with and what
- 40:05he's doing. If you got the numbers, you got
- 40:07the numbers. That's what we always talk
- 40:09about. That's what everyone looks at at
- 40:10the end of the day. So he is going to probably have
- 40:13the numbers to get there because in modern day baseball, to have
- 40:17as many stolen bases and home runs as he does, as he's
- 40:20projecting to get to, it's, it's rare company.
- 40:23It's good company to be in. Yeah, I totally agree.
- 40:28All right, so that ends all around the league and now we'll
- 40:32we'll dive right into the hurt locker because this this again
- 40:35might take up some time. So we might have to move this
- 40:37we're we're already 40 minutes in.
- 40:39We haven't even gotten to the meet the.
- 40:42Meet the. Advertisers right now, man.
- 40:45All right. I have 10 players on this list.
- 40:56I'm going to split it up. I'm going to go 5 and 5.
- 40:59All right, I'll, I'll break down 5.
- 41:01Mike, you can come in and, and, you know, do your spiel, talk
- 41:06about some of them. Some you think are probably more
- 41:09important than others. And then I'll, I'll list the
- 41:11other five. Then we'll take a break and
- 41:12we'll start getting the good stuff.
- 41:13So let me start off and then yeah, we'll just, we'll just
- 41:17keep moving first and foremost. And I did make this list
- 41:21yesterday, but I did update it. So I will, I did add the updates
- 41:24to them because a lot of these people were day-to-day and a lot
- 41:27of the tests came back today. And most of them I, I, I think
- 41:31all of them hit the IL for the most part.
- 41:34Some of them are tough. Here's one Diamondbacks, a
- 41:36relief pitcher, Justin Martinez. He was day-to-day with a
- 41:39shoulder issue. His fastball, which sat at 100.4
- 41:43miles an hour from opening day to April 23rd, dropped to 92.7
- 41:49on Sunday. Then it dropped to 93.5 on
- 41:52Wednesday. It doesn't sound good, whatever
- 41:55the issue is. So Fast forward to today.
- 41:58He is on the 15 day IL. He had shoulder inflammation.
- 42:02He's 1 and 110 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts, six walks, 3
- 42:06saves, 3 holds, 27 ERA, 42.9 points, 3.6 to start.
- 42:13I do think it's surprising to see a 270 ERA considering
- 42:16Wednesday against the Mets, he did not record a single out and
- 42:20that's when they pulled him because of the injury.
- 42:21He gave up two walks, a hit and two earned.
- 42:23And his ERA is still a 27 on the year.
- 42:25All right. And he he was in line to take
- 42:28over that closest role for them. I think when he comes back, if
- 42:30he can prove he's healthy, they'll they'll probably just
- 42:33give it to them as they should. Baltimore second third baseman
- 42:36Jordan Westberg hit the 10 day IL.
- 42:38He's got a lot of hamstring strain.
- 42:40They're looking at a mid-May return for him.
- 42:44All right, numbers not what you expect.
- 42:45You know, 217, four home runs, six ribbies, 12 runs, no stolen
- 42:49bases, 22 strikeouts. It's only giving it 35 points,
- 42:531.5 a start. But on the flip side, before he
- 42:56did get hurt, he was hitting 385.
- 42:58He was five. He had five hits and 13 at bat.
- 43:01So in three games look like maybe he was starting to turn a
- 43:04corner. Unfortunately, he he didn't he
- 43:07didn't make the turn. Cubs starting pitcher showed a
- 43:11he's day-to-day. He's got a leg cramp.
- 43:14His next start wasn't questioned.
- 43:16I think they're going to start him.
- 43:17He's going to go out there and make it.
- 43:18Just something to look at. Obviously they want to keep him
- 43:22in from six to seven innings, but if the issue reoccurs, they
- 43:25might just pull him early. No sense in having him hurt.
- 43:28He's 3 and 139 innings pitched, 30 strikeouts, 13 walks at 270
- 43:33RA, 90 points, 12.9 a start. That's what you want.
- 43:37That is exactly what you want from a starting pitcher.
- 43:41I got a couple more, let me two more.
- 43:43Cincinnati outfielder Austin Hayes, which was a good pick up.
- 43:46I actually picked him up and had him in my line up for a couple
- 43:48weeks. He, he was day-to-day MRI was on
- 43:55his hamstring. So it's, he did hit the IL
- 43:57literally right before the pitch and at 7:00 they put him on the
- 44:0110 day. He was having a great year.
- 44:04Just coming back. It was only in three weeks.
- 44:07He, he put 60 points together in three weeks, which is crazy. 4.7
- 44:10to start, he hit 365. He had five home runs, 13
- 44:14ribbies, 15 runs, a stolen base, 13 strikeouts and 52 at bats.
- 44:19Not too shabby for him. So I I love what Cincinnati's
- 44:22doing. I think it's a great line up.
- 44:24And then last before I let you cut in, Mike, I know next week
- 44:28Ragan's was day-to-day with pending test.
- 44:31It seems it's a groin injury, which will probably cost him his
- 44:35next start. All the information I read seems
- 44:38like early next week you should be go to go.
- 44:40Good to go. But they're still going to wait
- 44:41to hear. Still don't know what's going on
- 44:44with that one and one. 30 innings, 46 strikeouts, nine
- 44:48walks, a full 4 ERA, giving you 12612.6 to start, 75 points and
- 44:54then to stay on the Kansas City train.
- 44:57Salvador Perez, the catcher, is day-to-day.
- 44:58He had a hip injury. He was pulled from the lineup
- 45:00yesterday. So I think they're just going to
- 45:04let him sit. It doesn't look like anything
- 45:05too serious, but they'll throw him back in probably.
- 45:07I want to say the start of maybe Monday.
- 45:09Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they sent him for the weekend,
- 45:11but we'll see. Or they might let him DH Sunday,
- 45:14who knows. Man, a lot of good stuff there.
- 45:19I mean, let's start where he just ended.
- 45:20Let's let's start with Cole Ragans.
- 45:22I think that's probably the biggest name out of this list
- 45:24that you just said. I think he's going to be OK.
- 45:28I think he's going to be fine. And I think from a fantasy
- 45:31perspective, this is a guy that you can probably buy low right
- 45:34now. Came off an All Star year last
- 45:37year, pretty stellar year. He was kind of the breakout guy
- 45:43last year. We kind of people kind of had
- 45:45him pegged already as a sleeper last year, Did the breakout
- 45:48because what he did at the end of the previous year.
- 45:51But he's got like a four 4 ERA right now and he's going to be
- 45:55coming back from an injury. He's going to be playing for a
- 45:57pretty good ballclub. He's going to be competitive.
- 45:59He's supposed to be their ace. So I think if you can, if you if
- 46:03you have a a team that you can trade with and they have Cole
- 46:06Ragans, I think you can get a pretty good deal on him right
- 46:09now just because of the injury. But I feel like that shouldn't
- 46:12spook you from making a deal just because it does sound like
- 46:14he is going to miss one start, right?
- 46:17Doesn't sound that bad at all. Yeah.
- 46:20The other guy that I want to talk about real quick is Jordan
- 46:24Westford. Man, this is a guy that was
- 46:28coming back from an injury. We thought he was going to be
- 46:30the dude. He was my dude last year.
- 46:31You know that, Doug. You were an eye on him, man.
- 46:34He was second, third base eligible like he was and he was
- 46:37hitting the ball really well. He ended up being an All Star
- 46:40last year too. Another guy, what am I looking
- 46:43at here? He had eighteen home runs, 63
- 46:45RBIs. This year so far, he's only got
- 46:47four home runs. He's got 6 RBIs.
- 46:49So the RBIs are not coming in right now.
- 46:51Sounds like a lot of solo shots if you ask me.
- 46:54Sounds like almost probably all of his RBIs probably came from
- 46:57the the home run, to be honest. Very good possibility.
- 47:02But yeah, not not too hot right now.
- 47:04Obviously going on to the injured list.
- 47:06You probably drafted him in leagues, you know, not Lolo, you
- 47:11know, you probably drafted them where people drafted like Matt
- 47:14McClain, give or take, you know, two guys that were coming back
- 47:17that played infield multiple positions.
- 47:21And, you know, honestly, they're both not playing that great.
- 47:24Matt Mcclain's kind of striking out a time and and doing some
- 47:27things, but he had to pick probably between between one of
- 47:30those two guys to be maybe a, you know, a corner fielder or
- 47:34maybe an middle infielder. But yeah, it's just not going to
- 47:38work with him this year. You know, I'd rather just drop
- 47:40him, pick up someone else, take a, take a flyer on someone else.
- 47:44I mean, he's really hot right now, but like a guy like Polanco
- 47:47for Seattle, We're going to talk about him in a second.
- 47:49I know. But he's just kind of, you know,
- 47:52on a on a tear right now. I'd rather take a flyer on maybe
- 47:55one of those type of guys, not him.
- 47:58Obviously he broke out already. But, you know, I'd rather go to
- 48:01the free agent pool at this point rather than just have
- 48:03Jordan Westberg on my bench and then Austin Hayes, you know, tip
- 48:07the captain. Austin, man, what a stud he was
- 48:10going into the into this week. You know, the injury is
- 48:13unfortunate. But man, I do like what
- 48:16Cincinnati's doing. I know they had a hard time
- 48:18against Saint Louis. They had that double hitter what
- 48:22Wednesday? And I think they almost got shut
- 48:25out both games. I think it was like 6 to
- 48:27nothing. Then it was like 9 to one or
- 48:29something. It was, it wasn't pretty.
- 48:31But when they are on all cylinders, though, they are a
- 48:34really good baseball team and it's a very long season.
- 48:37We're only a month into this. You know, we do have some stats
- 48:40now that we can kind of backfill and, you know, obviously good
- 48:43talking points for us just to to have the show.
- 48:46But now you've got the now you've got the the scope of what
- 48:50kind of what teams are masked of, you know, what are they
- 48:53going to be relying on? Austin Hayes is one of those
- 48:55guys where right-handed bat, he's going to be facing a lot of
- 48:58left-handed pitching. The way he was bringing the bat,
- 49:01he was going to be playing almost every day almost at that
- 49:03point until the injury. But I mean, man, what a great
- 49:08guy to have on like a daily roster, you know, even on a
- 49:11weekly team he's been great. But like on a daily team, to
- 49:14know that Austin Hayes is in your line up and he's he's been
- 49:17raking. It's just I think a little
- 49:19nostalgic too, because he's been around the block a little bit at
- 49:22this point in his career. And now he's kind of found a
- 49:24nice little home now he's a little bit older now too.
- 49:27So it's kind of it's just nice to see those guys still, still
- 49:29hanging around. Former Baltimore Oriole,
- 49:31remember? And that see, that's what that
- 49:34was going to be my point about Westberg and the Orioles as a as
- 49:38a team, right? I mean, we talked about it last
- 49:41week. It's like you talk about like
- 49:43underperforming, right? Not only are like
- 49:45underperforming, but they didn't they didn't sign anybody.
- 49:49They had Austin Hayes, you know, Santa Air, you know, obviously
- 49:53he's not, he's not producing like he hit 41 home runs last
- 49:56year. But who's to say he he'd be
- 49:59having the same numbers if they resigned him, You know what I
- 50:01mean? No one knows.
- 50:01We can't go down that path because we could come up with
- 50:04what ifs all day. But the point is they lose 2
- 50:08bats and they don't resign anybody.
- 50:11I don't think it was, it was smart to, to say, hey, these
- 50:16young guys are ready. I don't, I mean, they, that's
- 50:18what they did. They put their balls in the
- 50:19basket and said, hey, we got young guys.
- 50:21Let's just give them every day at bats.
- 50:23I don't think that was the right idea.
- 50:24They were really young. You know, you're talking about
- 50:2621, not 20 years old. Yeah, I, I get give them a
- 50:31couple at bats here and there, but full time starts aren't, you
- 50:35know, it just not, it's not what to do.
- 50:38And without replacing a big bat, you know, a 41 home run bat,
- 50:42your entire offense is, is struggling and you're looking at
- 50:45it, you know, as a first, first or second round bat.
- 50:50And he is. He might be outside the top ten
- 50:54in shortstop right now. IIA, 100% agree with everything
- 50:58you just said. I just think with with
- 51:00Baltimore, and I think with a lot of teams too, is that it's
- 51:05what you're the hand you dealt with, right?
- 51:08It's it's, it's the Baltimore Orioles.
- 51:10They've never went out, they never spent money.
- 51:12They're a small market team. They they are really not,
- 51:15they're not even like they're somewhat of a medium, I guess at
- 51:18this point now because of all the hype in the last few years.
- 51:21But you know, it's, it's really a small market team.
- 51:24So in order for them to be successful, they can't just go
- 51:29out and just sign players and and think it's going to work
- 51:33out. And you're right, because they
- 51:35did have Austin Hayes, they hit, they did have Anthony standing
- 51:38on here. So like they could have they
- 51:40could have, you know, they did make offers, you know, on
- 51:42standing on here. I know, but they they're not
- 51:45going to spend the money, which is their issue.
- 51:49So they got to bring these kids up to spark something.
- 51:54They got these kids on their contract for whatever seven or
- 51:58eight years before they hit free agency.
- 52:00You know, luckily for the kids, they're, you know, getting their
- 52:04service time in early, you know, so they're going to hit a free
- 52:06agency at a younger age, which is good for them in the long
- 52:09run. I'm sure some of them are going
- 52:12to sign extensions that are going to be more team friendly.
- 52:15But they're all very, very good. And that's something that's
- 52:18interesting, too, because we already saw the signings with
- 52:22other minor leaguers going into the majors right away, like,
- 52:25like a Christian Campbell, for instance.
- 52:27You know, he had what, no at bats and he got a $60 million
- 52:31contract right away. I find it interesting that I
- 52:35don't see those big contracts or those those type of contracts
- 52:39with Baltimore yet now I think didn't Henderson sign a
- 52:43contract? Yeah.
- 52:46So they got they got Henderson, but now it's like, OK, now you
- 52:50got Jackson Holiday that's still very, very young, not really
- 52:54looking great so far, to be truthful.
- 52:57But he's he's so he's so young, he's so green still in my
- 53:01opinion, even though he's got a lot of at Batson now.
- 53:04So I don't know. I might be talking myself out of
- 53:06Jackson Holiday soon, you know, But regardless, they got.
- 53:09No, it's not on on Jackson a while ago.
- 53:12You were, you were. But there's other guys in that
- 53:14organization like that outfielder, hide it.
- 53:19I forget how you say his name, but he he's a really young,
- 53:22powerful, talented kid and he's supposed to be.
- 53:24He was the one that almost got in the fight with the Yankees
- 53:26this week, slid in the second base there.
- 53:29And I forgive it as I don't know how to say it, but yeah, yeah.
- 53:34He, he, yeah. So he's he's he's supposed to be
- 53:39one of the top prospects going until into last year.
- 53:42And he got called up, got some at bats.
- 53:44Now he's getting some full time at bats.
- 53:46I mean, they got so many young guys that they should probably
- 53:49locked up sooner than later. So that way, you know, they can
- 53:53actually build towards something.
- 53:54And then when they do need to get that one guy, they can go
- 53:57out and get him. And they just had Corbin Burns
- 54:00too, you know, they they if they had the guy in their
- 54:02organization, I think Corbin Burns signed for 240 million,
- 54:06you know, is that out of Baltimore's pocket?
- 54:09I mean, that's it's expensive. But imagine having a guy that's
- 54:13a staple that is, you know, top five pitcher in the league.
- 54:18You know, fantasy or not, I think Corbin Burns is a top five
- 54:21pitcher. I'd rather him out there in a
- 54:24lot of different ball games than I'd rather a lot of other guys.
- 54:27So I mean, Baltimore, it's just a small market team.
- 54:31They got to think outside the box.
- 54:32They said, hey, we're going to go with all the kids.
- 54:34It's going to attract fans. We're going to sell out games,
- 54:37going to bring excitement this and that.
- 54:40Now you're paying the consequence record speaks for
- 54:43itself right now. And I mean, as a kid, as as a
- 54:46mental kid, like how do you recover from that?
- 54:49You know, are you going to be strong enough mentally to to be
- 54:52like, all right, we got to turn their ship right now because we
- 54:55got the Yankees in four games in New York next week.
- 54:58And if we lose 3 out of those four games, we could be really,
- 55:01really in trouble. So it's wild.
- 55:05It's wild. It is, and it's unfortunate, but
- 55:08you know, it's like you said, you know, you can sign these
- 55:11players early, but again, you're, you're digging a gamble
- 55:14and doing that. You know, I think the Red Sox
- 55:16did it with who's that outfielder, Castile.
- 55:20Oh, Rafael. Yeah, he was Rodney Castillo or
- 55:25something, Something like that. I forget but.
- 55:26They Rodney Ello. Yeah, no, I'm talking even
- 55:30before that. I'm going to say a couple years
- 55:32ago. Oh, Rosney Castillo.
- 55:34Yes. Rosie Castillo, they signed him
- 55:36early and they had same kind of game plan.
- 55:39Let's try to lock him up early. And he was not good at all, no.
- 55:43That was robbery. It was.
- 55:44Robbery. He he ran to the bank all day
- 55:46and every day of that one. But you know, it's a game.
- 55:51I've never seen him in Pawtucket going to the Paw Sox games.
- 55:54He was playing center field and I remember just looking at him
- 55:57being like, man, you look small, like you look, you don't look
- 56:01like you. You fill the fill the jersey
- 56:03type. You know, it looks like you're
- 56:05not filling that jersey. And then when I saw Eli Jimenez
- 56:07down there when we were playing the White Sox organization, I'm
- 56:11like, that looks like a Major League Baseball player.
- 56:14And he ended up hitting two home runs to that game.
- 56:16So sometimes you can just tell by the eye of yes and no.
- 56:20Yeah, well, unfortunately they both aren't that good, so.
- 56:25I would say Eloy was not a good example there.
- 56:27But all right, we got five more and then we got to take a break.
- 56:30Time is our enemy today, but let's continue on.
- 56:33Let me give out these five and then, yeah, we'll break them
- 56:36down again and we'll take a quick break.
- 56:39So 1st we got Angels outfield, Mike Trott, You knew this was
- 56:43going to happen, right? He was removed from Wednesday's
- 56:45game. He's got he's got left knee
- 56:47soreness. It's kind of it.
- 56:48It probably could have been because he hasn't played that
- 56:50many games in a long time. So probably was his knee was
- 56:53sword turned out being a bone bruise on his knee.
- 56:55He is on the IL numbers, you know, 179.
- 57:01But nine home runs, 18 ribbies, 14 runs, two stolen bases, 36
- 57:06strikeouts and 106 at bats. 63 points still give me 2.2 a
- 57:10start, which isn't too bad. Yankees outfield, second third
- 57:15baseman Jazz Chisholm. He was day-to-day with a right
- 57:18oblique injury. They were having an MRI Thursday
- 57:21to see the severity. They actually got it back.
- 57:23He was placed on the IL today. He was batting 181.
- 57:27Seven home runs, 17 ribbies, 17 runs, six stolen bases, 39
- 57:32strikeouts and 105 at bats. Same points as Trout, 63 points,
- 57:372.1 a start. I think the difference was Jazz
- 57:41went a lot earlier than Trout. So you.
- 57:45Know. Take it for what it's worth,
- 57:47Seattle starting pitcher Logan Gilbert hit the 15th day IL.
- 57:50He's got a grade one right elbow flexor strain.
- 57:53He could be out three to four weeks.
- 57:56They're going to shut him down for two weeks.
- 57:57Then they're going to re evaluate where he is, how he
- 58:00feels. Pretty Goodyear so far, right
- 58:03one in 130 innings pitched, 44 strikeouts, six walks, 2-3 ERA,
- 58:0876 points or 12.7 a start, which is awesome.
- 58:13Next on the list we got Red Sox starting pitcher Walker Buehler.
- 58:16He travelled back to Boston to receive tests on his ailing
- 58:19shoulder. I guess after his last start he
- 58:21said it just didn't feel right. He wasn't recovering the right
- 58:23know how he normally recovers from a start.
- 58:26He was placed on the 10 day Altay.
- 58:27He's got shoulder inflammation. Really good start if you I mean
- 58:32his total numbers overall look all right.
- 58:33If you take out that clunker he pitched against Minnesota to
- 58:36start the year, they look so much better.
- 58:38Total Overall though, 4 and 133 in his pitch, 29 strikeouts,
- 58:42nine walks, a four, 2 ERA, 79.16 points, 13.2 is start with
- 58:47really good. And then last but not least,
- 58:51Tigers second baseman Gleber Torres.
- 58:53He's day-to-day with a hamstring injury.
- 58:55He might require an IL stint. I think they said he most likely
- 58:59will, but don't hold me to that. He's actually having a really
- 59:02Goodyear. Believe it or not that Tigers
- 59:04team is even with some of the bigger players that aren't over
- 59:08like performing where they should be, they're still looking
- 59:11really good. And Riley Green, he was a buy a
- 59:14buy low candidate and he has turned the corner in my opinion
- 59:17this last week, week and a half I think he has like 3 home runs.
- 59:20Anyways, Gleber Torres's total numbers, he's hitting 300 on the
- 59:24year. 4 home runs, 15 ribbies, 13 runs, four stolen bases, 8
- 59:28strikeouts and 80 at bats. 74 points, 3.7 a start.
- 59:34Those are really good numbers considering he's hit the IL
- 59:36earlier, so he's going to hit it again.
- 59:40But those are those are pretty much the significant IL stints
- 59:43for for this past week. Yeah, it sucks for Glee, but
- 59:46just because like, like you said, he was having a good year,
- 59:49you know, new home, good ballpark for him.
- 59:52Just a lot of open space in those gaps in that Detroit
- 59:55Tigers stadium and everyone, you know, that line up is so fun
- 59:58too, because they move a lot of guys around too.
- 1:00:00They got Javi Baez playing center field and we robbed the
- 1:00:05home run I think last night. I think that was that was
- 1:00:07something. So that was pretty cool.
- 1:00:09But I mean, going back to Gleber, though, obviously kind
- 1:00:12of a blow. Second base is really tough to
- 1:00:14fill if you don't have a second baseman.
- 1:00:17It's just kind of tough to find one out there and freeze and
- 1:00:19see, like we were talking about earlier.
- 1:00:22So yeah, it kind of just sucks for for Gleber and Detroit and
- 1:00:27fantasy owners, I guess. But you know, going back to
- 1:00:31Wakabua though, man, that sucks. He was just turning a corner
- 1:00:36too, right? He was looking good.
- 1:00:39And that's not that's not us saying from fantasy.
- 1:00:42It's from a Red Sox perspective, man.
- 1:00:44He was actually looking like it was going to work out for a
- 1:00:47second there. I mean, it still could work out.
- 1:00:49We don't know how serious this injury is yet.
- 1:00:51But when I see, you know, in quotations next to his name,
- 1:00:55shoulder inflammation, man, that's a red flag.
- 1:00:58That's that's, you know, weeks, you know that you're going to be
- 1:01:00missing out on him and you don't have a timable timeline yet.
- 1:01:05So that's that's the worst part about those kind of injuries,
- 1:01:08just because you just don't know what the the future holds.
- 1:01:11It could be, it could be really, really bad.
- 1:01:13It could be it could be short term, hopefully.
- 1:01:16But Walker Mueller, again, another guy coming back from an
- 1:01:20injury, pitched pretty well towards the end of the last year
- 1:01:23going into the World Series, right?
- 1:01:26Yeah, I was starting to see the wear and tear a little bit.
- 1:01:28So let's just, you know, keep a pulse on it.
- 1:01:32Let's be cool about it, Don't freak out.
- 1:01:35Let's see what it is. As a Red Sox fan fantasy.
- 1:01:40I mean, I yell them, But I mean, if you need a roster spot, I
- 1:01:43don't think it's the worst drop out there.
- 1:01:47What do you think of that? I would say based off of I was
- 1:01:51pitching, I I would probably IL him obviously, I don't think I'd
- 1:01:54want to drop him just because I do think they're going to be in
- 1:01:58the thick of it for at least a wild card later on in the year.
- 1:02:02So even though he might miss a month, I don't think it's going
- 1:02:06to be the end of the world because if he comes back, you
- 1:02:09know, I do, I do think it might be a better situation for you if
- 1:02:13you hold on to him, right, because think about it, he's
- 1:02:15coming back from injury. He might have an ennies cap.
- 1:02:18Now that he's missing a month that that you know, instead of
- 1:02:21shutting him down and you know, August, let's now we now we can
- 1:02:27we can keep him going till September.
- 1:02:29So you know, you got to look the bad with the good.
- 1:02:33Obviously I started him this week.
- 1:02:35He was supposed to be pitching today, but Brian Bellows
- 1:02:38actually pitched really well, even though he's not in the game
- 1:02:40six and a third. I think 5K1 earned really good
- 1:02:43start for him. But yeah, it is what it is.
- 1:02:47You know, I lost the start and I, but I, I, I'm definitely
- 1:02:50going to hold him and I yell him because he showed me that when
- 1:02:53he's healthy, he's still, like I said, you take that clunker out.
- 1:02:57I mean, the guy's ERA is probably like a three two, you
- 1:03:00know, so it's not, it's not horrible.
- 1:03:02I think. What do you give up four or five
- 1:03:03runs that, that Minnesota start his first start.
- 1:03:06So I, I don't see him. I, I don't know, I don't see it
- 1:03:11as a bad thing really. I really don't.
- 1:03:12Yeah, yeah, we'll we'll we'll see if he comes back hopefully
- 1:03:16sooner than later. And I'll just give Rick to
- 1:03:19Trout, right. I mean, let's let's just talk
- 1:03:24about let's I know we're against the clock here a little bit, so
- 1:03:26let's just talk about it real quick.
- 1:03:28I mean this, you know, I'm looking at his contract.
- 1:03:32I feel like I got to look at these guys contracts, see where
- 1:03:34they're at. He's about to rob the angels.
- 1:03:37He's got his contract till 2031. He's getting paid $37 million
- 1:03:42looks like annually a year. So it's going to be a very,
- 1:03:46very, you know, long six years if he continues to get hurt and
- 1:03:49just questionable as he's been the last, what, three years or
- 1:03:53so here. Look, he just doesn't play for a
- 1:03:56good baseball team. I feel like as a person, I'd
- 1:04:00probably be beaten up a little bit.
- 1:04:02You know, he's older, he's wiser.
- 1:04:04He's he's a leader and he he's never going to, you know, show
- 1:04:08his his true. Not that he's a bad person or
- 1:04:11anything like that. That's something I'm saying, But
- 1:04:13like he's not going to he's not going to go out there and talk
- 1:04:15to the media and he's not going to trash talk trash about, you
- 1:04:18know, the angels and his teammates.
- 1:04:20That's just not his character or anything.
- 1:04:22And that's being said. I I just think he it's he needs
- 1:04:26to just leave Anaheim. He needs to go somewhere else
- 1:04:30and he just needs just the DH. He just need he just he just
- 1:04:33doesn't need to play the field anymore.
- 1:04:35I mean, you know, same thing last year when he got hurt, you
- 1:04:40know, he had power last year. We saw her early on, but then
- 1:04:43you looked at his RBIs and they were very minimal because
- 1:04:46there's nobody on base. There's no one ahead of them to
- 1:04:48to get on there and and start a rally.
- 1:04:50You know, there's no, there's no consistency over there in
- 1:04:54Anaheim I feel at all. There's nothing that's getting
- 1:04:57the the wagon going. You know, we talk about these
- 1:05:00powerhouse teams, we talk about the Dodgers, we talk about, you
- 1:05:03know, we throw Arizona in there right now.
- 1:05:05You know, even like the vintage Braves teams, you know, you had
- 1:05:08guys just like gearing up. Didn't matter if they're about
- 1:05:11an 8th, 9th, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th. You had someone that can just
- 1:05:15start the rally. They don't have anyone over
- 1:05:17there in Anaheim that can start the rally.
- 1:05:19And he's a guy that would be a perfect fit.
- 1:05:22Imagine, imagine a Mike Trout in like a New York Mets uniform,
- 1:05:26you know, D agent for them, right-handed bat.
- 1:05:30I mean, just and and he would have Soto ahead of them or he
- 1:05:33would have, you know, Lindor around him somewhere in that
- 1:05:36lineup. You have Alonzo somewhere in
- 1:05:38that lineup. You know, he would thrive.
- 1:05:40And I feel like in an atmosphere like that too.
- 1:05:44But I think he's just so dull now in Anaheim.
- 1:05:47There's nothing going on. He doesn't have anything he's
- 1:05:49playing for. I mean, these injuries, he's I
- 1:05:53feel like he's just going to milk it.
- 1:05:55He might as well. So the injury, it could be
- 1:05:59minor. I know it's just a bruise.
- 1:06:01He'd probably be back like in a week or so could be a minimal
- 1:06:03stint. But it's just frustrating
- 1:06:05because every year you you have this hope that Mike Trout's
- 1:06:09going to be coming back and, you know, be be somewhat healthy.
- 1:06:13And even when you drafted him this year, you had expectations
- 1:06:16lower than you had in previous years.
- 1:06:19So I mean, should I be surprised No am IA little bit because he
- 1:06:26was hitting nine home runs. 18 RB is in in a categories league.
- 1:06:31That's that's pretty decent. Not the RBI so much.
- 1:06:35I wish there was a little bit more, but I mean the average is
- 1:06:37is what it is. He strikes out a ton his.
- 1:06:41Strikeouts are are what's I mean, you could sit there and
- 1:06:44say he doesn't play for a good team, which I would agree, you
- 1:06:47know, maybe a better bat behind him for protection, but it still
- 1:06:50doesn't really give an excuse for the strikeouts.
- 1:06:53I mean, 36 and and 100 at bats, 106 at bats.
- 1:06:58You know, that's a third of the time that's a lot of strikeouts
- 1:07:02do. You do you think he's just like,
- 1:07:05again, not to knock them, but do you just think he's just not
- 1:07:07invested? I don't know.
- 1:07:11I don't. I don't think he's that type of
- 1:07:12player. I think he is.
- 1:07:15If he was, if he was more to, like I said, if he was in the
- 1:07:18Mets uniform with the team they had right now, do you think he
- 1:07:22would be putting, I don't want to say putting more effort.
- 1:07:27I don't want to say he's not doing any effort.
- 1:07:28But I'm saying would he, would he be producing more?
- 1:07:31Do you think he would strike out 36 times in 100, in 100 at bats
- 1:07:35and in a Mets uniform? Well, I mean, with a soda and a
- 1:07:38line up, I, you know, I don't think so, but I, he's not in the
- 1:07:43Mets line up, you know what I mean?
- 1:07:45It's tough to say what his numbers would be.
- 1:07:47I, I couldn't tell you. You know, he strikes me as
- 1:07:51someone that might be like a JD Martinez, hopefully toward the
- 1:07:53end of his career, like he's, he might be that type of guy Now,
- 1:07:57unfortunately he doesn't want to accept it.
- 1:07:59So, you know, it is what it is for him.
- 1:08:03Unfortunately. I mean, you know what you're
- 1:08:05getting when you draft him. You're getting a couple IL
- 1:08:07stints, a couple, at least a couple here without a doubt.
- 1:08:11This isn't going to be his only one.
- 1:08:13I can I can guarantee that they'll be at least another one.
- 1:08:16I don't know what it will be. I don't know.
- 1:08:19But I, I totally agree though, he needs to DH, get out of the
- 1:08:23eye. You need to limit yourself, your
- 1:08:25body, you're old man. Your body is, is just starting
- 1:08:28to break down, man. Why don't you try to limit
- 1:08:29yourself, you know, make the switch.
- 1:08:32And Bryce Harper at least went to first, you know, do something
- 1:08:36similar. Get off the field.
- 1:08:38Get off the field. All.
- 1:08:42Right, man, let's let's move on. Let's take a break because then
- 1:08:47we still have our hottest and coldest hitter hitters and
- 1:08:50pitchers of this past week that we're going to talk about in a
- 1:08:53in a points league, which is probably translates perfectly to
- 1:08:55a cats league. And then some really good sell
- 1:08:58high buy low guys. And what I also did was I added
- 1:09:02some information on the sell high, buy low guys from last
- 1:09:04week to see how they did this week.
- 1:09:07Just to put a little context on it.
- 1:09:09Not to say we're always right, but some of these, some of these
- 1:09:14do look kind of right, some of them.
- 1:09:16All right. So don't go anywhere.
- 1:09:18Let's just take this break and then we'll be right back.
- 1:09:21All right, you going back in? damn.
- 1:09:37When I go home, people ask me, hey, who?
- 1:09:43Why do you do it, man? Wow, some kind of war junkie.
- 1:09:50I won't say a goddamn word. What?
- 1:09:55They won't understand. They won't understand why we do
- 1:09:59it. They won't understand.
- 1:10:04It's about the men next to you. That's it, That's all it is.
- 1:10:13Find us on the web at MB Radio dot US Want to make it clear
- 1:10:17that the views expressed by our hosts are not considered the
- 1:10:21official stance of MBR views? Remember this is all about
- 1:10:24having fun and enjoying the and now the guys you just love to
- 1:10:27hate. They're trash.
- 1:10:29It's it's. It's a Justifier.
- 1:10:33Man, it's a man. It's it's not.
- 1:10:36Doug and Mike are back with more bourbon and ball all.
- 1:10:39Right, let's just jump into this.
- 1:10:57All right, so I will show you the picture.
- 1:10:59These are the hottest players in our points league, which kind of
- 1:11:02translate to pretty much every league whatsoever, whatever your
- 1:11:05format is. There are two hitters and two
- 1:11:08pitchers. And no further ado, here they
- 1:11:16are. So let me go over the hitters.
- 1:11:21We'll talk about them, and then we'll do the pitchers
- 1:11:23separately. How's that sound?
- 1:11:24I love it. So you already talked about it.
- 1:11:27Mariners second baseman DH Jorge Polanco, he's batting 500.
- 1:11:33He hit you five home runs, twelve RBI, six runs, no stolen
- 1:11:38bases, one strike out. He gave you 44 points, 8.8 last
- 1:11:43week and he's only 63.8% owned right.
- 1:11:46But and this is This is why I always say, you know, he pretty
- 1:11:49much doubled his yearly stats in a week.
- 1:11:52I mean, on the year he's got nine home runs, 25 ribbies, 12
- 1:11:56runs. So he doubled his stats in a
- 1:11:58week, which tells me, I don't think he's obviously that those
- 1:12:03numbers are just, I don't think you started him.
- 1:12:06If you did, you must have a crystal ball because until the
- 1:12:09future because there is no way to know that that was going to
- 1:12:12happen. Second up, Dodgers hot field,
- 1:12:15Tiasco Hernandez. He batted 444.
- 1:12:18He had three home runs, 10 ribbies, seven runs, two stolen
- 1:12:22bases, only three strikeouts, which is really good for him
- 1:12:24because he does usually strike out a lot. 43 points, 7.2 a
- 1:12:28start. He's 95.9% owned.
- 1:12:32Those are the hitters. For the record, I have a daily
- 1:12:38league. It's a 12 team daily league.
- 1:12:40I did pick up Jorge Blanco two weeks ago, so I did reap the
- 1:12:45benefits of those nice, nice stats that he did have.
- 1:12:48So that was pretty exciting. I had to pat myself on the back
- 1:12:50for that one. But I mean, someone has to have
- 1:12:54the spark in the Seattle lineup, right?
- 1:12:55At least someone's doing it. I mean, this guy is really
- 1:12:58starting to show up here, huh? I mean, yeah, you're right.
- 1:13:01He did definitely double his numbers from his season total.
- 1:13:04But I mean, the average looks great.
- 1:13:07I know he doesn't play quite every single day, but I mean,
- 1:13:10the way the way he's swinging the bat, I think that's going to
- 1:13:12be changing pretty soon. Like you said that DH is
- 1:13:15eligible to, which in some leagues is a requirement.
- 1:13:19So kind of a nice back pocket position to have there.
- 1:13:23But yeah, I mean, again, second base, again, it's a tough
- 1:13:27position to fill if you don't have one.
- 1:13:29This is a guy only 63% owned in a lot of leagues if he's
- 1:13:33available. This is a guy you take a flyer
- 1:13:34on, you ride out the hot streak and then once it goes sour, then
- 1:13:38you go back to the drawing board, right?
- 1:13:39That's what fantasy is. You got to keep a pulse on
- 1:13:41everything. And Tiasco Hernandez really good
- 1:13:45week. Nothing much else you can really
- 1:13:47say about it. This is Tiasco Hernandez at his
- 1:13:49best. Only three strikeouts last week.
- 1:13:52That's a pretty, pretty good job on his part for a guy that does
- 1:13:56strike out pretty often, almost a strikeout per game.
- 1:13:59So these are the type of weeks that you really look forward to
- 1:14:02having at the Oscar Hernandez in the line up.
- 1:14:04So I don't have any of my leagues.
- 1:14:07Doug, we do like him. We talked about him a ton last
- 1:14:09year as well. Really good fit for that Dodgers
- 1:14:12lineup. Looks like he's continuing that
- 1:14:14from last year as well. It looks like a pretty good re
- 1:14:16sign if you ask Greg. Yeah, I was happy to see him go
- 1:14:19there because I don't I don't think he could reproduce his
- 1:14:22season last year with any other team unless it was with the
- 1:14:26Dodgers. So it kind of made sense for
- 1:14:28him. Jorge Polanco, he was always a
- 1:14:30really good contact hitter, really good hitter with the
- 1:14:32Twins, but you know, not this good.
- 1:14:36So ride them out. Unfortunately, a lot of times if
- 1:14:40you if you do end up picking them up and starting them, the
- 1:14:42hot streak's usually already over.
- 1:14:44So chances are next week in like 250, right?
- 1:14:49That's just the way it goes. You can't, it's tough to predict
- 1:14:53that. But yeah, you definitely want to
- 1:14:54take a flyer, you know, second base, even DH, like you said,
- 1:14:57that's that's a pretty good this is that's I mean, the numbers
- 1:15:01are amazing considering who else is in that team that just isn't
- 1:15:05producing at all, you know, which is which is sad.
- 1:15:07You know, Cal Riley's look at he he's the same type of player
- 1:15:12like a lot of the other guys are strikes out a ton or they get a
- 1:15:14lot of home runs, right. Hit you like four home runs last
- 1:15:18week. I mean, two weeks ago last week
- 1:15:20really didn't make much noise. So, you know, that's that's just
- 1:15:24the way it is. Let me go for the pictures
- 1:15:28section of this. We do have Royals starting
- 1:15:32pitcher who actually made this list a lot last year, of course
- 1:15:35fizzled toward the end of the year.
- 1:15:37I don't know if he's going to be able to keep this up either.
- 1:15:40He might fizzle again, who knows.
- 1:15:43But was Royals starting pitcher Seth Lugo.
- 1:15:46He went two and O on the week. 14 innings pitched, 13
- 1:15:48strikeouts, one walk, 2 earned. Tampa Bay and the Astros were
- 1:15:53the two games he pitched. Astros were scuffling.
- 1:15:55Tampa Bay is kind of not good. They're they're scuffling too, I
- 1:16:00guess. 47 total points, really good, right?
- 1:16:0472% owned. And the guy we were talking
- 1:16:08about earlier, right, Rangers started pitcher Nathan Ivaldi.
- 1:16:11He went one and O and two starts, 12 innings pitched, 15
- 1:16:14strikeouts, one walk, one earn the A's and the Giants.
- 1:16:18So, you know, those probably should have been both wins in my
- 1:16:21opinion. 39.76 points. He's 91.1% owned.
- 1:16:27I do have a couple honorable mentions.
- 1:16:29Dodgers outfielder Anthony Paze, he had 42 points.
- 1:16:33Cubs starting pitcher Conray, he had 37.
- 1:16:36He's only 99% owned. Joe Ryan had a turn around and
- 1:16:40he was a bi lo candidate last year, so we'll talk his numbers
- 1:16:43later on. And starting pitcher for the
- 1:16:46Tigers, Casey Miz. Man, yeah, we're starting.
- 1:16:51I mean, let's start with Nate Dogg.
- 1:16:53You know, Nate is a Dogg. I mean, the guy just doesn't
- 1:16:56doesn't now down to anyone. I feel.
- 1:16:58I feel like every time he goes out there, he's going to try to
- 1:17:00give it his best. And I mean, he throws hard too.
- 1:17:03I think his fastball is around 9697 right now and it looks
- 1:17:07harder than that. You know, a couple years ago he
- 1:17:10was almost pushing 100 at times. I know he was, it was he was
- 1:17:13pumping it when he was with the Sox for sure.
- 1:17:16Man. This guy's really kind of like,
- 1:17:18again, evolutionizing his career here in Texas and really just
- 1:17:22kind of doing a nice little, I don't even know what I think
- 1:17:25this one was fourth or fifth team potentially at this point,
- 1:17:29but he's just for a lot of different teams I feel at this
- 1:17:31point. So I feel like he's found a good
- 1:17:33home in Texas. I think when he signed it
- 1:17:34originally, I think we both said that's a really good fit for
- 1:17:37him. And you know, we we love Josh
- 1:17:40Beckett back in the day, but this guy's the new Texas tough
- 1:17:42guy. So I mean, what a great guy to
- 1:17:45have in your roster. And then Seth Lugo, I mean, but
- 1:17:49what what it means, the guy continues to impress.
- 1:17:51I feel after coming from last year, having the year that he
- 1:17:54did really consistent carrying over to this year, being on this
- 1:17:58hot list so earlier in the season.
- 1:18:00Now, are his numbers as good as they were already last year?
- 1:18:04They're about the same give or take going into it.
- 1:18:06But is he going to continue to produce?
- 1:18:10I hope he does because it's a nice little sleeper guy.
- 1:18:12This is a guy that's like a number four or five guy in your
- 1:18:15rotation again, plays for a pretty decent ball team in
- 1:18:19Kansas City. It's a weak division.
- 1:18:21He's going to have opportunities to go out there and and win ball
- 1:18:24games that maybe he shouldn't be winning just because of who
- 1:18:28their opponent is. You know, the White Sox, I mean,
- 1:18:32the the Twins, like they, they are terrible.
- 1:18:34I mean, I think Rocco is going to be out of the job pretty
- 1:18:37soon. It's it's looking a little grim.
- 1:18:40So there's going to be opportunities to get those cheap
- 1:18:42wins there too. And then like you said, you had
- 1:18:45a couple audible mentions. You mentioned Joe Ryan, he did
- 1:18:48pitch today. Looks like he wins 6 innings.
- 1:18:50He gave up one, earn 8 KS. Guys a stud.
- 1:18:53He's going to get no decision. The game is 1 to one at the end
- 1:18:56of the seven. So, but like you said, Doug,
- 1:18:59he's the guy that we, we thought he was going to rebound.
- 1:19:01He's just too good of a pitcher not to.
- 1:19:03And he's going out there and showing it now.
- 1:19:06Unfortunately for him though, he plays for Minnesota like we just
- 1:19:11said. So there, there is just a little
- 1:19:15bit of an element there, but he's just such a good pitcher.
- 1:19:17It's just like you kind of have to just ignore it I guess.
- 1:19:21And it was against Boston tonight too, a pretty good
- 1:19:23hitting team. So in Boston as well, that's not
- 1:19:27an easy task to go in there and, and go 6 innings one and eight
- 1:19:30KS on a Friday night in Boston. That's that's pretty damn good.
- 1:19:36Well, the socks are up three one now.
- 1:19:38Denver's had a 22 run single. Oh I just saw the update OK.
- 1:19:44And I will say the Jose Ramirez injury was like a freak injury.
- 1:19:47We were talking about him earlier.
- 1:19:48He ended up trying to run out an infield single, which he did run
- 1:19:52out. He got hit in the back with a
- 1:19:54baseball by the pitcher Chris Bessette, and then he trips over
- 1:19:57the first base bag and like sprains his ankle.
- 1:20:02Oh, it's a sprained ankle. Yeah, because he got hit with
- 1:20:06the pitch, so he tripped over the bag.
- 1:20:10Sprained ankle sounds like ADL stint.
- 1:20:13No, no, no. It's probably a minor.
- 1:20:15I don't know. I I I haven't seen the tape yet,
- 1:20:18but he definitely won't be in the line up tomorrow that's for
- 1:20:21sure. Yeah, I was thinking about
- 1:20:23dangling out there for the Bourbon League.
- 1:20:25That was going to be my my big trade ship.
- 1:20:28I still. Can.
- 1:20:32Not this value now when he's hurt.
- 1:20:34Disaster all. Right, let's let's go right into
- 1:20:43the cold players of the week. Some of them aren't surprising,
- 1:20:48but some of them are. So here they are.
- 1:20:52Right again, I'll read the names.
- 1:20:54You will do the hitters first and then the pitchers second.
- 1:20:59So we have first and foremost Giants third baseman Matt
- 1:21:01Chapman. He hit a 09/1.
- 1:21:04He had no home runs, no ribbies, no runs, one stolen base, 9
- 1:21:07strikeouts -3 points. Every time you started him, he
- 1:21:11gave you a negative half point on the week.
- 1:21:14He he's 82% owned right now. He was in the mid 90s before all
- 1:21:20this, this hot streak, this cold streak started.
- 1:21:23So we all knew the hit of Matt Chapman was we knew he struck
- 1:21:26out a lot. I don't understand the hype
- 1:21:29around him. I the the San Francisco Giants
- 1:21:32are a gritty team, but they're not a great team.
- 1:21:34Their offense doesn't do anything for me, so that doesn't
- 1:21:38surprise me at all. Next up, Diamondbacks outfield
- 1:21:41Corbin Carroll. This was tough.
- 1:21:43He made the hot 1 twice this year.
- 1:21:45Him and Nathan of all the other two players that have made it
- 1:21:47twice now. He's on a cold, unfortunately.
- 1:21:51148, no home runs, no ribbies, one run, no no stolen bases, 10
- 1:21:58strikeouts -1 point for the entire week.
- 1:22:01He's still 99.9% owned. He's still a top ten bat.
- 1:22:06I just hope he doesn't fall back into how we started last season.
- 1:22:11I, I know if he does, he'll still hit out of it.
- 1:22:15But I just as an owner of him, I, I would hate to be like now,
- 1:22:19OK, now I have to run. Now I have to ride with him for
- 1:22:22a month hoping he'll break out. And when he does, he will.
- 1:22:25It's just, you know, you just hope, well, maybe Kent, the
- 1:22:29Marte in that lineup going forward now, maybe that's going
- 1:22:32to help him a little bit. But he was raking when Mountey
- 1:22:34was hurt, right? It's only been this past week
- 1:22:36where you just you're seeing the strikeouts.
- 1:22:38So I don't know. I don't know what to expect
- 1:22:41right now. I wouldn't worry about it.
- 1:22:44I wouldn't just because I think he had some tough matchups.
- 1:22:47I think the Mets are a very good baseball team.
- 1:22:49I think we just have to say it out loud.
- 1:22:51At this point. They are just the winning
- 1:22:53baseball team. They showed it last year with
- 1:22:55the NLCS that momentum's carrying back over.
- 1:22:58I mean, Juan Soto had a couple home runs yesterday.
- 1:23:00I know he they they lost four to two.
- 1:23:03But if he's if his bat starts heating up and they're already
- 1:23:06winning baseball games, they're going to be very good
- 1:23:09contenders. In saying that about Corbin
- 1:23:11Carroll, though, Corbin Carroll's a West Coast guy in my
- 1:23:14opinion. I think he's a chill guy.
- 1:23:15I know he's from like Seattle. I think, I think he went to
- 1:23:18school at like UCLA. And I don't know, I think it's
- 1:23:22going to be one of those things where you just go out east
- 1:23:24sometimes and you get rocked just by the atmosphere and, and,
- 1:23:28and it's just a different element sometimes.
- 1:23:30And it's just you're not you're not used to it yet.
- 1:23:33You know, you're still in April and when you come to the East
- 1:23:37Coast, it's a little more rowdy, especially in the the Northeast.
- 1:23:40And I think this whole year, you know, he's had a lot of home
- 1:23:44games already. I feel like a lot of games that
- 1:23:47I watch are in Arizona. So I think he's just kind of
- 1:23:52just, you know, road trip might have been is what, second or
- 1:23:55third road trip this year? Maybe first one going out east,
- 1:23:59you know, long distance one could be jet lag for the week.
- 1:24:02I don't know what it is. I wouldn't worry about it
- 1:24:04though. I think he's just too talented.
- 1:24:06We just talked about him on the who's hot list already, right?
- 1:24:10I know, I know 10 strikeouts is a lot.
- 1:24:13That's it's nothing to not talk about, but that's what he kind
- 1:24:17of does sometimes at times. But again, he steals enough
- 1:24:20bases where he can make up for that.
- 1:24:21So no, I'm not worried about it. I think it's just a tough
- 1:24:24stretch that he's just going down right now and I'm not even
- 1:24:27going to waste my breath on Matt Chap guys dumps the fire.
- 1:24:32I don't, I don't get, I don't get the appeal.
- 1:24:34I love his glove, love his glove, great glove, but but the
- 1:24:38bat is just like it's obnoxious on how people think like he's a
- 1:24:42good hitter and he's he's just really not.
- 1:24:44I don't think he's that great of hitter at all.
- 1:24:47Totally agree. All right, so on the flip side
- 1:24:50of that, let's go to starting pitching, right?
- 1:24:53And unfortunately, they're both Blue Jay pitches.
- 1:24:58First and foremost, Blue Jays study pitcher, relief pitcher.
- 1:25:00Button Francis O and 1/3 innings pitched, 1 strikeout, no walk, 7
- 1:25:06earned -9.56 points almost -10 That start was a curse against
- 1:25:13the Red Sox. He's now only owned in 52% of
- 1:25:16leads. He was in a high 80s.
- 1:25:18He did finish last year on a really high note, so of course
- 1:25:20the expectations were he'd go higher.
- 1:25:23Fortunately, he didn't. He's kind of just been.
- 1:25:27And then this start kind of just kicked him down a little lower.
- 1:25:30And then Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gosman.
- 1:25:33O and 1/2 and 2/3 innings. 2 strikeouts, five walks, 6 iron
- 1:25:38-7 points. That was against the Yankees.
- 1:25:4184.5% owned. That was in the mid 90s.
- 1:25:45Listen, I watched the Yankees game.
- 1:25:47He it was Sunday. He got through 2 perfect innings
- 1:25:51and then he just imploded. I think he threw something over
- 1:25:53like 52 pitches that inning. Didn't get a couple calls.
- 1:25:57Very pissed off about that, got knocked out of the game.
- 1:26:01Then he got thrown out of the game because he was chirping on
- 1:26:03his way to the dugout. It is what it is.
- 1:26:06I, I still think he's a good pitcher.
- 1:26:08He's mid to high 90s, so pretty hard.
- 1:26:11So I, I mean, I have him, I'll bench him.
- 1:26:15Obviously, I'll start him. I might start him next week.
- 1:26:17I think he's playing either against the Twins or the Angels.
- 1:26:21I think Bessette's pitching against the Angels.
- 1:26:22So I might start him, but I still hold on to him.
- 1:26:26And some honorable mentions for starting pitching really is, is
- 1:26:30Mitchell Parker, the Nets started pitcher he gave you -3.6
- 1:26:34and Tigers Giant Flaherty -2.6. I think he's kind of, he's back
- 1:26:38to where he was. You know, he's, he's not as good
- 1:26:40as he was last. He's still serviceable.
- 1:26:42He's still a pretty good pitcher.
- 1:26:43But I think last year he just played out of his mind.
- 1:26:46That's all there is. Yeah, yeah, those, those guys.
- 1:26:50Yeah, Mitchell Parker was playing pretty good.
- 1:26:52I mean, he knew he was probably going to hit a wall soon
- 1:26:54eventually. I mean, we did tip his cap last
- 1:26:56week just because, I mean, you know, he was performing well.
- 1:26:59And so we kind of knew he was probably going to come back down
- 1:27:01a little bit. But yeah, I mean, tough day to
- 1:27:04be a Blue Jay pitcher. Berwick and Bong, who's not list
- 1:27:08man. Holy moly.
- 1:27:10Let's start with the worst. Let's start with Boden Francis.
- 1:27:13What do you think here, Doug? How how long of a leash do you
- 1:27:16think the Blue Jays give Boden Francis here?
- 1:27:18Because these starts look pretty pretty tough lately.
- 1:27:23I think they'll give him a, a pretty long leash, to be honest
- 1:27:25with you. You know, I think he came out
- 1:27:28last year and he did get knocked around.
- 1:27:30I think his first start, his first couple starts weren't good
- 1:27:32at all. They set them down, they called
- 1:27:34him back up, pitched better, but he didn't really turn it on
- 1:27:38until the last 2 1/2 months of the year.
- 1:27:41So I think they're, they'll get Malish, you know, I, I think the
- 1:27:45whole team isn't playing good. So it's like, well, if you're
- 1:27:47going to give Bowden Francis a short lease, then sure as hell I
- 1:27:52got to give Kevin Mccausman one too because he's not pitching
- 1:27:54any better. I think they're only good
- 1:27:56pitchers, big, crisp set, to be honest with you.
- 1:27:59So I don't, I don't know what they're going to do.
- 1:28:02I think with Godsman, he's a vet like Godsman's a vet at this
- 1:28:05point. He's been around the block like
- 1:28:07he he's not, he's not in jeopardy of losing his spot at
- 1:28:10all. Like he's, you know, and in
- 1:28:12fantasy purposes, like I I would rather start him if I have a
- 1:28:16chance in a matchup. I I don't think he's just a bad
- 1:28:18pitcher what whatsoever. And like you said, that was a
- 1:28:21really tough, weird game against the Yankees where it's getting
- 1:28:27pinched. You know, let's just call a
- 1:28:29spade a spade. We have to do it sometimes.
- 1:28:31I was getting screwed a little bit on some of these calls.
- 1:28:34So I, I don't, I, I get his frustration.
- 1:28:37And, you know, 1 bad pitch, you know, we've seen it. 1 bad call
- 1:28:40can turn into the four or five runs at times, and it can
- 1:28:44totally change the projectile of the game.
- 1:28:48So yeah. Yeah.
- 1:28:49And when you only pitch, you know, one day out of the week
- 1:28:51and you're getting screwed. Yeah, I'd be a little pissed off
- 1:28:54too, you know, trying to, you know, get my anger out toward
- 1:28:57it, especially walking out of the field.
- 1:28:59So no, Kevin Gosman's fine. But Bowden Francis, again, I
- 1:29:04don't think he was. He was a guy that was drafted
- 1:29:07decent, like middle drafts relief eligible.
- 1:29:10Now he's going to be a starter. Very appealing in weekly
- 1:29:13leagues. But this isn't the guy you just
- 1:29:16throw out there every week. I think some people thought I'm
- 1:29:20going to draft him as a reliever and he's going to be my extra
- 1:29:22starter the whole year. And you know, whatever flips on
- 1:29:25the other side, that's what I'm going to get because I think
- 1:29:28he's going to be pretty decent and that's why you drafted him.
- 1:29:30But I think at this point, I think you have to reconsider
- 1:29:34that. I think you have to have him as
- 1:29:35just a matchups guy. Maybe he's A2 starter.
- 1:29:38We do know what his capabilities are, right?
- 1:29:40He's a very, very good pitcher when he is on.
- 1:29:43But right now, just like last year in the beginning of the
- 1:29:46year, not good. He did the same thing last year
- 1:29:50too. And that's why he got demoted.
- 1:29:52That's why it took him about 1/2 a season before he get called
- 1:29:54back up. And he had that phenomenal last
- 1:29:56five weeks of the season. And that's what you hope that
- 1:30:00you do see later on. So don't give up faith yet, but
- 1:30:04just probably throw them on your bench, cool off a little bit.
- 1:30:09Let's see what happens. I, I just don't think you have
- 1:30:12to, to make any reactionary things, especially with these
- 1:30:15two guys on the board that we're talking about right now.
- 1:30:18I totally agree and I do want to give an update.
- 1:30:20I it just this just broke about Jose Ramirez.
- 1:30:24So he was just diagnosed about two minutes ago with a mild
- 1:30:29right ankle sprain after leaving Friday's game.
- 1:30:32They're saying he he should be good.
- 1:30:35They they, you know, the guardians might play it safe and
- 1:30:37give him maybe a day or two off, but no IL stint Looks like he
- 1:30:41might have dodged a bullet. So that's good to know.
- 1:30:44Thank God. You're telling.
- 1:30:47Me all. Right, Yeah.
- 1:30:51So let's let's just hop into the last segment of the show here.
- 1:30:54We got 30 minutes. Try to bust it out real quick.
- 1:30:57Let's talk about some wheel you're dealing.
- 1:30:59All right, this is the part of the show where we're going to
- 1:31:07talk about some sell high guys based off of their week's
- 1:31:09numbers and some some some buy low candidates based off of this
- 1:31:13past week's numbers. Just for some context, our sell
- 1:31:17highs for last week, we had Pete Crow Armstrong, he had an
- 1:31:20amazing week last week. He did hit a home run today.
- 1:31:23I will give him that. But this is a Thursday to
- 1:31:26Thursday numbers, so we're not counting today.
- 1:31:28He gave you 15 points, so not as not any as as near what he gave
- 1:31:32you last week. So count that almost a win.
- 1:31:35Matt Olson, he hit a home run again today, but again, this was
- 1:31:40this is a new week for us on the show.
- 1:31:42So he did get you again for about 14 or 15 points last week.
- 1:31:46I think the week before when we told him to sell high on him, I
- 1:31:51think he may have given you almost 30.
- 1:31:52So definitely coming back down and another sell high was Walker
- 1:31:57Buehler, 17 points. What happened?
- 1:32:00Arm issue. IL could have sold them high,
- 1:32:03could have sold them high, but whatever.
- 1:32:07Some Bilo candidates we had, Vinnie P, he looks like he might
- 1:32:11have turned the corner around. He had a really rough week the
- 1:32:14week before. Now he's got you 17.
- 1:32:16He hit what, two or three home runs last week?
- 1:32:19We had him as a good Bilo candidate, Eddie Rushman, only
- 1:32:23one strikeout gave you a solid 12 points, right?
- 1:32:26I think the week before that he only gave you two or three.
- 1:32:28So he's also and then I think this is our biggest, our biggest
- 1:32:34perfect call. Our biggest call.
- 1:32:36Last week we said buy low on Joe Ryan, hit a couple rough starts.
- 1:32:40What does he do his last night? He goes out and gives you almost
- 1:32:4330 points. What does he do tonight?
- 1:32:45No decision, but gives you a quality start. 6 innings, 1
- 1:32:48earned, 8 or 9 strikeouts. Those, you call them right man,
- 1:32:52you give credit where credit's due those.
- 1:32:55Those are some pretty good calls so far.
- 1:32:57Yeah, those are those are some fun names to talk about too.
- 1:33:00You know, it's really good to see Vinnie P starting to swing a
- 1:33:03good bat again this week. They really need to have him go
- 1:33:07so that way Wick can get going and get the rest of that line up
- 1:33:10going because they really can run away with this division when
- 1:33:13they are the best team on the field and they need him to be
- 1:33:15the best on the field as well. So yeah, really good that
- 1:33:18especially at first base position in fantasy, you really
- 1:33:21wanted him to turn around. Obviously a very slow start, not
- 1:33:24scoring a lot of points. He was almost as bad as Tristan
- 1:33:28Cassis at points, right. You know, I think a lot of
- 1:33:30people did drop him in the leagues because he's just not,
- 1:33:34he's just not cutting at this point.
- 1:33:36Yeah. But yeah, Vinnie P was like
- 1:33:38really, really close, though. He wasn't he wasn't cuttable,
- 1:33:41but it was getting it was getting questionable.
- 1:33:44And you know, what are you going to get from Vinnie P this year?
- 1:33:47So it's really good to at least see some like, what's that you?
- 1:33:52Got to have faith. Man, I, I think I'm reactionary.
- 1:33:55That's why I think I just reaction too much.
- 1:33:59But but yeah, I'm excited about that.
- 1:34:01I mean, TCAI think he's going to be a pretty good baseball
- 1:34:05player. I I think he's just going to be,
- 1:34:08you know who I'm going to compare him to.
- 1:34:09You're going to love this comparison, Doug.
- 1:34:11It's not even like a fantasy comparison.
- 1:34:13It's just like a player comparison.
- 1:34:15I think he's going to be like a Brett Gardner.
- 1:34:17That's the type of guy that I can see him turning into.
- 1:34:20It's kind of like a, a solid outfielder, you know, a pretty
- 1:34:24good bat at times. You know, he's got probably a
- 1:34:27little bit more pop than than Brett Gardner does.
- 1:34:29But you know, Brett Rodgers can steal bases, PCA can steal
- 1:34:33bases. And like you say, he scored 15
- 1:34:35points, you know, that's not bad.
- 1:34:38You know, that's about 3 points per game.
- 1:34:40You know, 5 / 5 days, five games or so that you're playing.
- 1:34:45And, and that's what you're looking for in a fantasy player
- 1:34:47is about 3 points per game. So if he can do that
- 1:34:51consistently, he'll be something something relevant.
- 1:34:53But like we talked about before, he doesn't have a lot of history
- 1:34:56right now. This is going to be his first
- 1:34:58full season up here. So when a guy like that, you can
- 1:35:02maybe trade, get someone that you do have a track record with
- 1:35:05that you do know what you're going to get with.
- 1:35:06Because right now PCA, it's so green that you don't know what's
- 1:35:10going to come at the end, at the end of the tunnel.
- 1:35:13So yeah, I, I think that's kind of where I'm going to take it
- 1:35:17back to you because I don't think, by the way, I think like
- 1:35:23time is the time is the essence. So let's let me, we'll, we'll
- 1:35:27kind of breeze through these because we really only got like
- 1:35:2920 minutes or so. But first and foremost on this
- 1:35:33sell high, I want to say I would sell, probably sell high on
- 1:35:37Michael Harris. He's 80% owned, right?
- 1:35:41Had a pretty decent week. He only hit you 231.
- 1:35:44He didn't give you any home runs, but he gave you 8 ribbies,
- 1:35:46two runs, two stolen bases. Only one strikeout gave you 24
- 1:35:50points or four start, which is pretty good, right?
- 1:35:53You look at his year stats, he's 233, three home runs, 19
- 1:35:57ribbies, 11 runs, six stolen bases, 21 strikeouts and 116 at
- 1:36:01bats, 665 points or 2.2. So you went from 2.2 a start to
- 1:36:07four in a week. I think when you have about six
- 1:36:09weeks of baseball, players are putting up weeks that almost
- 1:36:11double their point total. They're usually flukes or this
- 1:36:15is opportunities. So I, I like Harris, but he's
- 1:36:18been very up and down and mostly down over the years.
- 1:36:21Obviously, you know, his first year when they called him up,
- 1:36:24pretty electric guy, but injuries and then he just, he
- 1:36:27hasn't been the person you'd expect him to be, right?
- 1:36:30So he still has the following pretty decent week.
- 1:36:34A lot of people still high on him.
- 1:36:36Maybe this could be a chance for you to capitalize and move on.
- 1:36:39And that's all I'm saying. Yeah, I love it, honestly.
- 1:36:43You know, I'm a Michael Harris guy, you know that.
- 1:36:46And you know, when he is playing good baseball, he does score you
- 1:36:49a ton of points. He slaps the ball.
- 1:36:51I mean, when he's running healthy, he can run a single
- 1:36:54into a double, steals bases. You know, he's a really good
- 1:36:57overall player and he's got some pop in his bat.
- 1:37:00The last couple years he's been a little wishy washy, a little
- 1:37:03up and down with him. So now that he's, you know, on
- 1:37:05this hot streak right now and maybe with this past recent
- 1:37:09track record here, this is a really good time to move him,
- 1:37:11maybe get a little piece or something that maybe you've been
- 1:37:13looking for. You know, I always I'm I'm you
- 1:37:16know, you have the Mendoza line. I'm going to call it the Bryce
- 1:37:19Miller line. There's a Bryce Miller line.
- 1:37:21I feel like that's just a comp pitcher that is just like middle
- 1:37:25of the road, you know, can get you some quality starts in the
- 1:37:28season plays for, you know, a mediocre team.
- 1:37:31But just that rotation is so good that Bryce Miller gets
- 1:37:33overlooked a little bit. So he retracted later.
- 1:37:37So he's probably like, you know, before five guy, so you may be
- 1:37:40more reluctant to get rid of him than like maybe someone else.
- 1:37:43So I always kind of just throw that game out there and that's
- 1:37:45the reason why. But I think Michael Harris or
- 1:37:47Bryce Miller, you know, I think you can probably even get a
- 1:37:50little bit more at this point than a Bryce Miller for Michael
- 1:37:53Harris. And then also, you know,
- 1:37:56position specific if you need it as well, you know, hey, I'm down
- 1:38:01to 3rd baseman and Michael Harris is hitting the ball
- 1:38:04really, really good right now. You know, maybe I can go out and
- 1:38:08trade for like a a junior Cameron Arrow from Tampa, you
- 1:38:13know, to fit the bill. It's, you know, because junior
- 1:38:17has got some, you know, he's got a decent ceiling ahead of him, I
- 1:38:19think, But I don't know if it's going to happen this year or
- 1:38:21not, but it depends on what your priorities are and what your
- 1:38:24needs are too. So again, you know Michael
- 1:38:27Harris hitting the ball good just may be a good time to move
- 1:38:29him. Yeah, no, I totally agree.
- 1:38:32All right, Next up. This one's.
- 1:38:36This one's a fun one. I like this one.
- 1:38:38Right. Where is he?
- 1:38:40Where is he? There he is.
- 1:38:42He's in the wrong uniform, though.
- 1:38:47So Yankees outfielder, first base DH Cody Ballinger, 84%
- 1:38:51owned. Pretty good week, right?
- 1:38:53He hit 316. He gave you a home run, 4
- 1:38:55ribbies, 4 strikeouts, four runs gave you a little over 20
- 1:38:59points. So about 3.5 a start.
- 1:39:01Again, pretty good not too, not too bad.
- 1:39:04Overall his year it's hitting 204.
- 1:39:06He's got three home runs, 16 ribbies, 14 runs, three stolen
- 1:39:11bases, 25 strikeouts and 98 at bats. 56 points total to a
- 1:39:17start. Again, you look at the point
- 1:39:20total compared to the season total.
- 1:39:22He had a good week. You know, I just don't think
- 1:39:24it's it's good enough to make me want to hold him to see if he
- 1:39:28can continue it. That's my only my thing.
- 1:39:30You know, I'd love to move him. He raised most of his season
- 1:39:33stats on this week. So any plus he plays, he's got a
- 1:39:36ton of versatility. He plays for the Yankees.
- 1:39:40So I think there's appeal there. You know, I think you can still
- 1:39:43get, you know, a, a decent starting pitcher or somebody for
- 1:39:46him, you know, nothing crazy, but still decent.
- 1:39:49You know, his numbers overall aren't good, but there's,
- 1:39:54there's worse. And he, he did go kind of late
- 1:39:57in some drafts, I will say. So you know, something to look
- 1:40:00at. And you know, when you're, and
- 1:40:02again, like a lot of a lot of people when they look at trades,
- 1:40:05they'll just look at points, right?
- 1:40:06They'll say, what where's this guy at versus the guy I'm
- 1:40:09trading. So although you know, you're
- 1:40:11trading somebody that has you 70 points and you're getting
- 1:40:14somebody who has 70 points, look at where those points came from.
- 1:40:17If if 35 of those points came in one week, chances are.
- 1:40:21That they might not be as good of a player as you think you're
- 1:40:25getting back in return. So, you know, Cody Ballinger
- 1:40:30almost doubled his points in a week and, you know, I'd look to
- 1:40:33move them. But it's a Yankees team and he's
- 1:40:36really not a horrible guy. He's just, you know, I, I want
- 1:40:39more consistency, that's all. I I agree, You know, we talked
- 1:40:44about Eduardo Suarez earlier in the show, right, and how he had
- 1:40:47that four home run game and if you had him in fantasy, you
- 1:40:51know, you just you, you cashed it right, But then you don't
- 1:40:53talk about the other three weeks or four weeks that he got you
- 1:40:56the negative points, you know, and all the strikeouts, right.
- 1:40:59And and that's it. You know, if Cody Bellinger's
- 1:41:03name wasn't Cody Bellinger and if he didn't have pinstripes on,
- 1:41:06you know, I don't think we'd be even even having this
- 1:41:09conversation because I think he kind of is in that same exact
- 1:41:12category as Suarez where, you know, he'll have these this
- 1:41:17great week or maybe like, you know, 10 games, 15 game
- 1:41:20stretches. But then he'll just like, hey,
- 1:41:23you know, his his batting average is very, very low.
- 1:41:25His OVP is pretty low as well. He does strike out at these
- 1:41:28amount of times. And you know, at that, that MVP
- 1:41:32season was a long time ago. That was not, that was not a
- 1:41:37couple years ago. That was a long time ago.
- 1:41:39And it it might, I cannot feel it because Cody's somewhat of a
- 1:41:43young guy still. And I think that's probably the
- 1:41:46appeal with Cody is because he's been in the league so long that
- 1:41:50people think he's older, but he's not.
- 1:41:54But like I said, I don't think we'd be even having this
- 1:41:56conversation if if his name wasn't Cody Bellinger.
- 1:41:59That being said, his name is Cody Bellinger.
- 1:42:03He did just have it with me. And this is probably the best
- 1:42:08time to move him because I don't know if there's going to be a
- 1:42:11lot of other pockets of window of opportunity here earlier in
- 1:42:15the season where then he became, you know, gets a reputation
- 1:42:19later on where he doesn't become expendable.
- 1:42:22So maybe this is like your little pocket right now to, to
- 1:42:25make a move because as we talked about earlier with players, he's
- 1:42:28also one of these guys that's due for an IL stint throughout
- 1:42:32the year. So I'm I'm I'm in favor of the
- 1:42:36sell. My only, my only thing before I
- 1:42:40move on real quick about the IL stint thing is because Stanton's
- 1:42:44not in that line up, they've been DH ING them a lot.
- 1:42:46So they have been taking them off the field a little bit,
- 1:42:48which is good to see. Obviously when Stanton comes
- 1:42:51back, I don't know what they're going to do, but for now, I'm
- 1:42:55I'm not concerned about the IL just yet.
- 1:42:58Not yet anyways. You know, once that DH spot
- 1:43:02becomes Stanton's, if he does come back this year, then, yeah,
- 1:43:06they'll be a little concerned for sure.
- 1:43:08Definitely, for sure. All right.
- 1:43:13And our last but not least, this was a guy that I like and I
- 1:43:20still believe he's still a good pitcher.
- 1:43:25The Predator himself, Louise Bastille, So he's 90, almost 94%
- 1:43:32owned pretty good. Week 1 and O 6 innings pitched,
- 1:43:355K2 walk, 0 earned. Of course it was against Miami,
- 1:43:38but I mean, to me, Miami's offense and Seattle, Seattle
- 1:43:41might have a little better offense, but it's it's close to
- 1:43:44be honest. Still gave you 22 points
- 1:43:47overall, 3 and 232 innings pitched, 20 strikeouts, 14 walks
- 1:43:51at 36 ERA, 60 total points. He still has the right name
- 1:43:56recognition to me. I don't know he he hasn't really
- 1:44:00been that ace he was a season or even like two seasons ago.
- 1:44:04You drafted him, you finished as the top ten starting pitcher.
- 1:44:07I think the win this week helped this point total for sure, which
- 1:44:11is something everybody looks at again when you evaluate trades,
- 1:44:14how many points am I giving up versus getting?
- 1:44:16And that's what people are going to look at when with this.
- 1:44:19But I still think he's a good pitcher.
- 1:44:21I still think he's worth a decent bat and I I still think
- 1:44:25with the win, you know, if you're looking to move them,
- 1:44:28it's a it's a good sell. High time for for him.
- 1:44:30He got the win right. He's three and two.
- 1:44:32He's above 500 on the year. Go go with it and and try to get
- 1:44:37what you need out of it. If you if you don't want it.
- 1:44:39That's all. Yeah, I mean, you know, I'll put
- 1:44:43my salesman hat on and tell you, you know, Luis Castillo, you
- 1:44:47know, yeah, he pitched against Miami.
- 1:44:49But it sometimes just takes one solid start to someone to just
- 1:44:54get it going. And sometimes they just need a
- 1:44:56face of Miami or a Pittsburgh Pirate or a Chicago White Sox
- 1:45:01team to get the gears going. And I think we did see that a
- 1:45:05little bit with Wakabula before he started getting going.
- 1:45:08You know, that first really good quality start that he did have
- 1:45:10was against the White Sox early on.
- 1:45:12So, you know, with with Luis Castillo, maybe this is the kick
- 1:45:17that he needed here after the start.
- 1:45:19And hey, I'm, I'm buying pitching right now in a lot of
- 1:45:24weeks. And this is a guy that I would
- 1:45:26not mind having on my rotation that I think would would
- 1:45:31probably do pretty well. I think Even so, there's a lot
- 1:45:35of fun things around Luis Castillo is you're going to stay
- 1:45:37in Seattle this whole entire year.
- 1:45:39This is a guy that could potentially get moved.
- 1:45:41He's on the older side. He's on the other side of 30
- 1:45:43right now and you know, he could be pitching for a contender if
- 1:45:47Seattle starts to drip a little bit, which doesn't look like
- 1:45:50they are right now. Looks like they're kind of
- 1:45:52staying status quo that the whole the whole divisions wide
- 1:45:55up in the air I feel. But.
- 1:45:58But I think this is a great guy to buy.
- 1:46:00I I would not not just the sell high, but I'd also just buy at A
- 1:46:05at a market price. I think right now because I
- 1:46:08think maybe he is turning it around.
- 1:46:10So there's, you know, two different schools with that
- 1:46:13thought process and it's so high segment.
- 1:46:15But if you're just a Luis Castillo guy, it's maybe the
- 1:46:20time to get him now because maybe he did turn it around.
- 1:46:22He's not going to get a chance. Totally agree, totally agree.
- 1:46:27All right, so we do have the buy low candidates and again I got
- 1:46:31I'm going to try to to run this down because I only got 10
- 1:46:34minutes here. So let's try to move with the
- 1:46:39flow here. So you're going to be surprised
- 1:46:41at the first one, Hear me? He has a he had a really rough
- 1:46:43week. First baseman Bryce Harper, he's
- 1:46:4699.8% on. Only hit you 174.
- 1:46:49No home runs, two ribbies, one run, 6 strikeouts.
- 1:46:52Gave you 7 points on the week. Barely a point a start overall.
- 1:46:57Yeah, you know, 235, five home runs, 16 ribbies, 18 runs, six
- 1:47:01stolen bases, 26 strikeouts and 115 at bats, 92 total points. 3A
- 1:47:06start. But it seems far that someone
- 1:47:09would trade Bryce. I get it.
- 1:47:10But if you take away his week he had he had a week a few weeks
- 1:47:14ago where he hit like three home runs and gave you 40 plus
- 1:47:17points. So if you take those away, he's
- 1:47:20really only like a, you know, a 5060 point player, which is a
- 1:47:24little over 22.3 a start. So it's not horrible.
- 1:47:28So someone who say actually, you know, Rob in our on our money
- 1:47:32league offered him to me in a trade.
- 1:47:35So that tells me that he's trying to sell him, too,
- 1:47:38although he wasn't selling high at the time because I'm not
- 1:47:40giving Corbin Carroll to him. But, you know, yeah, he's aging.
- 1:47:45Yes, he goes on the IL a few times a year.
- 1:47:47But owners are looking to move in because in four or five weeks
- 1:47:50to start the year, he's been underperforming in four out of
- 1:47:53those five weeks, Right? I think offense, for the most
- 1:47:56part, in my opinion, with Trey Turner, has been underperforming
- 1:48:00in Philly. So, you know, you might be able
- 1:48:02to get away trading a first baseman, a AA1B first baseman
- 1:48:08for, you know, A1B pitcher type thing, A1 for one, you know, not
- 1:48:14nothing. Top tier.
- 1:48:14I don't think Harper is really a top tier anymore in my opinion.
- 1:48:19But you know, take it for what it's worth.
- 1:48:21You know, like I said, you take away that one week he gave you
- 1:48:233040 points. He's really only an average
- 1:48:26player. So, and that was just two weeks
- 1:48:29ago. Yeah, I think I, I think I have
- 1:48:32to say I'm guilty of was over projecting them, you know,
- 1:48:35earlier in the season, you know, just a guy I definitely thought
- 1:48:38was going to be a top five contingent first baseman.
- 1:48:41You know, I'm like, it's Bryce Hopper, you know what I mean?
- 1:48:44Just like how we talked about all the other top guys that we,
- 1:48:47we like to talk about, but you know, reality is, you know, 235
- 1:48:51batting average, we're talking about a, you know, 20/20/20 ish
- 1:48:55percent. So clip AK rate, you know, with
- 1:48:5825 / 115. So you know, that's not not the
- 1:49:02sexiest appeal right there. I mean, the, the sixth stolen
- 1:49:05basis is really nice. That's a nice little appeal for
- 1:49:08Bryce Hopper right now. I mean, if he can continue to do
- 1:49:11that, I mean, he'll be a 2525 guy.
- 1:49:13So it's not like it's all lost in the in the sand there.
- 1:49:16But it's just the occasions, you know, at least in my eyes, I
- 1:49:20pumped up that I thought he was going to be a better player than
- 1:49:23what he has been to this point. So in saying that, he is
- 1:49:28definitely a buy low guy. First base is a tough position
- 1:49:31to fill at an elite level. I feel like at this point now,
- 1:49:36but it's a lot of voids. You got corner positions you
- 1:49:39also got to fill. But I don't even know what I
- 1:49:42would even trade for Bryce, Harper, Doug.
- 1:49:44I don't even know what I would even move for a Bryce Harper
- 1:49:48because I feel like whoever I trade with, they're just going
- 1:49:51to want too much. For what?
- 1:49:53They're going to get back. So I'm not going to I'm not
- 1:49:55going to go out there and and you know, give you give you my,
- 1:50:01my Kento Marte for Bryce Harper. You know, I'm not doing that.
- 1:50:04I'm going to probably do, you know, something more like a 2
- 1:50:09for one for Harper. You know, I'm just not going to
- 1:50:12give up a quality person for Harper.
- 1:50:14That's. Fair.
- 1:50:18Yeah. All right, Next up on this list,
- 1:50:21Again, a big name. You'll know it when you see it.
- 1:50:26But there again, there's a reasoning it's and you'll
- 1:50:29understand once you see there he is.
- 1:50:35Padre's third baseman, DH Manny Machado.
- 1:50:37He again is 99.3% owned. He had AI mean he gave it last
- 1:50:44week. 263 no homers, three runs batted in, one run scored, six
- 1:50:49strikeouts. He gave you 4 points, gave you
- 1:50:51less than Harper overall. 279 two home runs, just two home
- 1:50:58runs, right? 13 ribbies, 18 runs scored, six
- 1:51:01stolen bases. So that you know stolen bases is
- 1:51:03a surprise for them too. For me, 20 strikeouts and 111 at
- 1:51:07bats which is nice to make contact. 78 total points, 2.6 to
- 1:51:11start. But man Machado has cooled down
- 1:51:14a ton right? This is a guy that was averaging
- 1:51:163.6 to start, you know, 2-3 weeks into the season.
- 1:51:20Like Harper. He's older now.
- 1:51:22Expectations should be limited. I think owners will be very
- 1:51:25hesitant to trade him when he was going strong, but now
- 1:51:28they're probably definitely at least taking offers on him,
- 1:51:30especially in re draft leagues, right?
- 1:51:32You might actually get a deal on him and if he continues to put
- 1:51:36up these numbers for another week for sure, you'll get a deal
- 1:51:38on them again. You know, the Padres lineup is
- 1:51:40pretty solid, so I don't see this cold spell lasting long,
- 1:51:43but I am surprised at only two home runs.
- 1:51:46Six stolen bases is a pretty good pretty good for him in my
- 1:51:49opinion. That's that's a surprise and if
- 1:51:52but if you take them away now you're going from somebody that
- 1:51:55was averaging, you know what, 2.6 to start to 2.3 or 2.2.
- 1:51:59So, you know, I think owners are just are looking at those
- 1:52:03numbers too and they see the home runs down.
- 1:52:06I wouldn't be surprised if now would be a time to just to just
- 1:52:09give them up on, you know, try to let them go if you can.
- 1:52:13Yeah, I mean, the two home runs is definitely disappointing,
- 1:52:15right? That's, I think the biggest
- 1:52:16number that sticks out to me. I think average is right on par.
- 1:52:20Even the RBIs are down this year with them, and I don't know if
- 1:52:23that's because of where he's back to the lineup or anything
- 1:52:25like that. I haven't seen too many Padre
- 1:52:28games, to be honest with you. For some reason, I try to avoid
- 1:52:30them. Don't know why, but I just don't
- 1:52:32watch a lot of Padre games. But yeah, I mean, Machado's been
- 1:52:37pretty consistent throughout his whole career.
- 1:52:39I can't believe he's only 32, Doug.
- 1:52:41I had to look him up earlier and I was like, whoa.
- 1:52:43I was like, man, I feel like he's like used to be like 3637.
- 1:52:47He's been around forever, but he got called up so young.
- 1:52:50So again, he's one of those guys, but I mean, only 32 years
- 1:52:53old. He'd just have some baseball
- 1:52:54left in him. Look, I mean, if you need a
- 1:52:56third baseman, you know what you're going to get out of him.
- 1:52:59Hopefully he picks it up this summer with the power and the
- 1:53:02RBIs for that matter, too. And I hope you think he will,
- 1:53:04too. I think he's a pretty durable
- 1:53:07guy. I feel like he does at the DIO
- 1:53:09maybe once a year or so, but really he's pretty minimal to
- 1:53:12it. Last year I think he had almost
- 1:53:14100 RB is I think the year before that he had 100 RB is so
- 1:53:18I expect him to still get your your 80s eighty or 9000 RB is in
- 1:53:22that range or so you're going to get a quality bat.
- 1:53:25You're going to get a quality bat at Manny Machado if you're
- 1:53:27going to buy a lot at this point.
- 1:53:29So you can find a guy that's freaking out that says, hey, I
- 1:53:32don't like what I'm seeing from him.
- 1:53:33I already got this other third baseman, so I'm going to move
- 1:53:35forward with them now. You can maybe suit a deal, get a
- 1:53:38guy that you can actually put in the lineup every single week.
- 1:53:41That's the type of guy Manny Machado is.
- 1:53:43Yeah, no, I agree. And I was trying to get him
- 1:53:45earlier, but he was hot when I was trying to get him.
- 1:53:47And obviously, you know, you ask for a lot of stuff when
- 1:53:51someone's hot, but now I feel like maybe they're just
- 1:53:54hopefully looking to just get rid of them.
- 1:53:57So we'll see what happens. I would still take a flyer on
- 1:54:00them. Anyways.
- 1:54:00That's a talented lineup. And last but not least, of
- 1:54:04course, our pitcher is none other than the C-SPAN.
- 1:54:08I had to. I had to find a pitcher with the
- 1:54:10beard shaved off. Dylan sees Andre started
- 1:54:13pitcher. He's 95.4% on.
- 1:54:15He had a really rough week. It was against Tampa Bay.
- 1:54:17O and 1/4 and 1/3 innings pitched. 6 strikeouts, four
- 1:54:20walks, 2 earned. Again gave you one point. 1.08
- 1:54:26overall, 1 and 229 innings pitched, 36 strikeouts, which is
- 1:54:30nice. Twelve walks though, A576 ERA,
- 1:54:3436 points or 6A start, which is not good at all.
- 1:54:38We all know going into this year it'd be pretty, pretty tough for
- 1:54:41Dylan sees to have a similar year he had last year.
- 1:54:43I think he was the top top ten pitcher for sure.
- 1:54:46Obviously the strikeouts are going to be there, right?
- 1:54:48He had 224 last year. He's on pace to probably do
- 1:54:51about the same, but he did average 13.2 a start last year
- 1:54:55and that's something you are not going to see this year.
- 1:54:57I can guarantee you that, right? He's a high 3, low ERA pitcher.
- 1:55:02So unfortunately he was probably drafted a player that was better
- 1:55:06than those numbers, right? You probably drafted him as a
- 1:55:08top ten pitcher in your drafts, but he probably should have
- 1:55:11never been. Unfortunately.
- 1:55:13I'm not saying he's horrible, but again, expectations when you
- 1:55:16look at the numbers of the whole right, he's definitely better
- 1:55:19than what we're seeing. So if I'm an owner, I'm still
- 1:55:22looking to sell. I think now would be a good
- 1:55:24time, you know, to, to trade them, you know, maybe even an
- 1:55:28Altuve for him. Why not both struggling?
- 1:55:31Trades. Right, something different like
- 1:55:33that I or even you could even say Vinnie P, but I, I might
- 1:55:37want to hold on to Vinnie P just because I think he's turning
- 1:55:39that corner. But those those were the two I
- 1:55:41would have. Yeah, it depends.
- 1:55:43Depends on your, your, your point structure.
- 1:55:45You know, I think our bourbon and bottle league, you know, I
- 1:55:48think it's a pretty pitcher friendly league when it comes to
- 1:55:51points, especially when you throw Crawley starts and wins.
- 1:55:54So I think guy like Dylan sees when he's on, he's on.
- 1:55:57He's he's pretty good. You know, he's he's one of the
- 1:55:59best when he is pitching at his best, but he gets erratic at
- 1:56:03times and he gets a little wild and can't find that strike zone
- 1:56:07sometimes walks a lot of batters and gets into some trouble.
- 1:56:10So, you know, come with the good, with the bad, right?
- 1:56:13That's kind of how it goes with Dylan season times.
- 1:56:15He does play for a really good baseball team still.
- 1:56:18They're committed to Dylan season teams.
- 1:56:20So he's still going to go out there.
- 1:56:22He's still going to get his starts.
- 1:56:23He's going to get some quality, quality starts in there.
- 1:56:26He's still going to strike out guys and this is a guy I
- 1:56:29definitely would want in my rotation for sure.
- 1:56:32You know, I talked about Louise Castillo earlier.
- 1:56:34This is a guy I'd probably take a step above Louise Castillo.
- 1:56:36I think this guy's still elite at times.
- 1:56:39And again, it's only May 2nd today.
- 1:56:42So we got a whole season still ahead of us.
- 1:56:44We still have about 130, a 140 games ahead of us.
- 1:56:49So it's a very, very long baseball season and this is a
- 1:56:52bad want in the long run. Yeah, I I mean, yeah, I mean,
- 1:56:57you know what you're getting from him.
- 1:56:58At least you know, he's not going to surprise you.
- 1:57:01But yeah. All right, that brings us right
- 1:57:03to the end, man. We just we just made the clip.
- 1:57:06So we were, you know, we were able to go around the league
- 1:57:08gig, talk some big injuries, talk about some hottest and
- 1:57:11coldest players from last week. And of course, some some sell
- 1:57:15high buy low candidates as well. So fun episode.
- 1:57:19Great episode. We'll be back here again next
- 1:57:22week, bringing it all over, starting it all over again.
- 1:57:26Yeah. So Mikey V, I'm Doug.
- 1:57:29This is bourbon and ball, right? Finish your drink.
