- 0:39SPEAKER_05: Welcome in everybody to the Talk and Tech Podcast Powered by Guns Up Nation, part of the Guns Up Nation Podcast Network.
- 0:45SPEAKER_05: I am your host, Steven Rodriguez, my co-host Tristan McGonagall.
- 0:48SPEAKER_05: Tristan, March Madness is here.
- 0:51SPEAKER_04: Sunday selection day is here.
- 0:54SPEAKER_04: Steve and I are several beverages in.
- 0:57SPEAKER_04: So we're going to move this segment along.
- 1:01SPEAKER_04: So we spent an hour with our buddy here.
- 1:04SPEAKER_05: Yes, we are talking with Jackson from the Ramlin Raiders.
- 1:07SPEAKER_05: We are breaking down everything you could possibly want to know about this year's bracket, what to expect, what to look forward to with Texas Tech moving forward in the NCAA tournament.
- 1:17SPEAKER_05: So we're going to put that over right now.
- 1:20SPEAKER_05: Here is Jackson with Ramlin Raiders.
- 1:25SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 1:26SPEAKER_05: We are here with Jackson of the Ramblin' Raiders.
- 1:29SPEAKER_05: We just got news Texas Tech, a three seed in the West Division going into the NCAA tournament.
- 1:37SPEAKER_05: Boys, uh what what a draw for Texas Tech.
- 1:42SPEAKER_05: California love.
- 1:44SPEAKER_03: Hey man, all I know is the last time we were uh we were in the West region, we were playing for a national championship.
- 1:51SPEAKER_03: So not the easiest of roads, I'll admit my on my initial reaction, but overall, I mean, hey, we we we were the best in the West in 2019.
- 1:59SPEAKER_03: I'm hoping that we can do it again in 2022.
- 2:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah, before we continue continue for further, can we just admit to the fact that this has been way too long coming?
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: That we've had Jackson Griffon of the Rambling Raiders on the podcast since we've done a joint podcast.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: Here we are, the two podcasts of the Guns Up Nation uh podcast networks, and it's been this damn long.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: I know, man.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: I know we we had a great uh episode or crossover like way, you know, months, excuse me, months ago or whatever, long time ago.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: And I feel like we're always interacting on Twitter, you know, we're all we're all in the same Guns Up Nation Slack channels and groups, and we're we're in constant communication, but we deprived the people from an you know a just masterful content-filled episode um that that they were, I think, a little thirsty for.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: So it has been too long.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: I agree.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: And I know our our listeners are gonna um you know enjoy this.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: We're we're playing them on both, uh, you know, through both outlets here.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: And and so uh it's great to be with Steven and Tristan as well with Talk and Tech.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: We are the the Guns Up Nation podcast team, podcast network.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: And uh, you're right, man.
- 3:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, way overdue, way overdue.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: It's true.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: This is this is for the listeners, not at all for us to to to drink on a Sunday afternoon and uh put out our awful takes.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: That's it's just for the listeners.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: It is purely for y'all.
- 3:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no doubt.
- 3:21SPEAKER_05: But um, man, I guess we have to start with initial reactions because uh, you know, watching this, it didn't take too long on the selection Sunday show to see our name pop up.
- 3:30SPEAKER_05: Uh, much to a lot of Texas Tech fans' dismay.
- 3:34SPEAKER_05: Uh, we were put in the West region, which uh, you know, for for me, it's gotta be the most difficult region when you're just looking at it right now initially.
- 3:42SPEAKER_05: Um, but but Jackson, what do you think about this whole West region where Texas Tech is put?
- 3:49SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, I think it's interesting.
- 3:50SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm I'm kind of you know, I'm excited to hear y'all's sort of not, I mean, not in depth since we're all just getting this information.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: This is uh selection Sunday, Sunday, fun day night um for us, you know.
- 4:02SPEAKER_03: And so we're just now getting this these uh the the way the the cards fell and these um seedings for the tournament.
- 4:08SPEAKER_03: But initially I was kind of uh I'm I'm almost a little more worried.
- 4:13SPEAKER_03: This is gonna sound strange, but I was a little bit more worried about Bama than I was even, you know, going past that point.
- 4:18SPEAKER_03: Uh, I think tech matches up with a Duke team, you know, if Duke can even get past Davidson or Michigan State with a Duke team that, you know, kind of limped out of a and got first out of a very uh down ACC this year, only getting four teams into the tournament.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: You know, they uh they were um the first place, you know, the victors of that um uh conference in the season, not obviously in the tournament.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: They they got beat, but they've had a couple of uh pretty bad losses down the stretch.
- 4:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, North Carolina coming in and absolutely waxing on uh waxing them on Coach K's final night uh, you know, over there in Cameron Endor and then losing in the tournament.
- 4:56SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, not being able to complete the run uh there and win the ACC tournament.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: Um, I think their conference is a little down this year.
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: Like I said, they they got first, but it's it's not overly impressive, in my opinion.
- 5:07SPEAKER_03: And I think tech kind of matches up decently with um with the Blue Devils.
- 5:13SPEAKER_03: Bama in the second round can be a little bit scary.
- 5:16SPEAKER_03: I think they're uh, you know, we we were talking about this pre-pod.
- 5:18SPEAKER_03: I think they're the best sixth seed in um in the tournament.
- 5:23SPEAKER_03: So it look, and this reaction overall wasn't the you know the best draw um ever.
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: I know everybody I hated that we weren't in the south.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: Everyone was really excited about the prospect of this team playing in Fort Worth and getting to try to make a run to San Antonio.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: So wasn't the worst draw, wasn't the best draw, but I was most upset about the location.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Just because I I wanted like hell to be in uh uh in Fort Worth, you know, for St.
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: Patty's Day at Dickey's Arena.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: I honestly kind of get why they didn't do it because it would have been a legit home game, like it would have been the USA there uh in there.
- 5:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I think a lot of that had to do with it.
- 6:00SPEAKER_05: Turn out Texas Tech was the last three seed.
- 6:03SPEAKER_05: Uh when they were looking at all three seeds, Texas Tech was last, which I didn't necessarily agree with, but uh, I mean, initially when I'm watching the broadcast, I'm like, okay, Gonzaga's the top overall seed.
- 6:14SPEAKER_05: Just I don't want our name to be called this early.
- 6:16SPEAKER_05: And then turns out our name was called this early, and it was like, oh, okay, I guess that's fine.
- 6:22SPEAKER_05: And then we kept seeing more and more teams from this bracket in our region get announced.
- 6:27SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, okay, Arkansas, Memphis has kind of turned it on lately, Alabama's beaten some good teams, Duke is Duke, Michigan State.
- 6:37SPEAKER_05: I mean, so you know, when I'm looking initially at all four of these regions, ours is clearly the toughest, in my opinion.
- 6:46SPEAKER_05: But uh, you know, also when you're in the NCAA tournament, you're playing good teams no matter where you're at.
- 6:52SPEAKER_05: So that's also my mentality.
- 6:54SPEAKER_05: I'm like, we have to go through tough teams no matter what.
- 6:56SPEAKER_05: We're not gonna play Arkansas, Gonzaga, Duke, Michigan.
- 7:00SPEAKER_05: So we're not gonna play all these teams, but it's just the prospect of playing all these teams that kind of scares you.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 7:07SPEAKER_04: This is definitely the toughest bracket that you could be set up in.
- 7:10SPEAKER_04: But uh, as as Jack is Jackson was saying, this is like the kind of toughest sled you have to be put up against.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: But I mean, once you get past the first round, things get tough.
- 7:18SPEAKER_04: That's March Madness is it is what it is, right?
- 7:21SPEAKER_04: Um, but honestly, if I can ride it up in differently, I think I kind of love the potential of being put up against uh Coach K's Duke team.
- 7:30SPEAKER_04: Like, what do you love to be the team to put them away forever?
- 7:33SPEAKER_04: I mean, how beautiful is that?
- 7:34SPEAKER_04: The tech sec red raiders of Coach Adams being putting away Coach K.
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: I kind of love it.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: I don't know about y'all.
- 7:41SPEAKER_03: I I saw it's funny you bring that up.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: I tweeted it out sort of, you know, after um processing the initial draw for tech and and observing our region.
- 7:50SPEAKER_03: I put a tweet out that wouldn't it just be absolutely iconic for us to be the you know, hand Coach K his last L of his career as the as Duke's head coach.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: I love the prospect of it.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: And I'm I'll I'll be honest, man.
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: I looking around, I'm I'm a little more bullish on on some of these other two seeds.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: Uh, and I think we might have differing kind of differing views on this, but um, yeah, I to me it's it's the the prospect of Bama in in the second round, the uh round of 32 matchup that honestly worries me a little more.
- 8:20SPEAKER_03: I think if you give Coach Adams a full week to prepare for a Duke team, um, and I guess where would that be?
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: The Sweet 16 for this region is do we know where that's at?
- 8:30SPEAKER_05: Uh it's in uh San Francisco.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: San Francisco.
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: So I mean, I I don't hate it, man.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: I think Adams could could really uh you know kind of dissect this this Duke team, and um then after that, you know, I thought you brought up a good point.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: I'll say, uh, Steven, about how you see the the region, you see the teams that we're up against, right?
- 8:46SPEAKER_03: But it's like, you know, you're not you're not uh Arkansas, we wouldn't see until until the Elite Eight.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: Um Yukon is good, but we wouldn't see them there.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: I mean, obviously, you know, you have Memphis and Gonzaga, but um, yeah, I don't know, man.
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: It's it's gonna be interesting.
- 9:00SPEAKER_03: I did want to get y'all's opinion on this because it's a question I kind of had.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: Um, and of course, you know, a question that that I already have an answer to, but I want to see see how y'all feel about it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: How big of a factor do you think it will be for this tech team playing so far away from our roots, uh, you know, not even being close to the south, even the Midwest.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: And I know 2019, I believe we started in Oklahoma, right?
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: So, like the fact that we're starting off just out there on the West Coast, this team has notoriously been bad on the road all year, right?
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: Uh, they're they're amazing at home, which is why I think we so desperately wanted to get that South region because of Fort Worth.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: I mean, that team would have fed off of it and and um you know, fed off that energy, fed off that crowd.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: How big of a factor is it to you?
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: Um, tech playing so far away, uh, with the struggles that we've seen on the road, do you think it's gonna ultimately be kind of a deciding factor or not or not as much?
- 9:56SPEAKER_05: I mean, for me, initially, you're like, damn, you know, I I'd love to play in Fort Worth.
- 10:00SPEAKER_05: I love playing San Antonio because that's Texas.
- 10:03SPEAKER_05: We're gonna have the majority of that stadium no matter where we're at.
- 10:06SPEAKER_05: You know, being in California, the first thing I looked at was who else is in our region?
- 10:10SPEAKER_05: Who else is gonna have fans there?
- 10:12SPEAKER_05: Uh, you know, potentially for this game.
- 10:15SPEAKER_05: And I mean, obviously, Duke has the t-shirt fans, Gonzaga has the t-shirt fans, they're on the West Coast, but you know, Arkansas, I don't know if they're gonna travel better than Texas Tech over there to San Diego.
- 10:26SPEAKER_05: Uh, you know, Memphis, uh, Alabama, I don't think those fans are gonna travel any better than Texas Tech over to California.
- 10:33SPEAKER_05: But um, so I I don't know.
- 10:35SPEAKER_05: I think actually, when you're looking at the grand scheme of this region, uh, the the location to me doesn't matter that much.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: I don't think we're gonna have an overwhelming disadvantage from opposing fans.
- 10:48SPEAKER_05: Now, if we were to have a San Diego state or a UCLA or USC in our bracket, like that would have been an issue.
- 10:56SPEAKER_05: But for for where we ended up and the other teams that also ended up in the West region, I don't think it's really a disadvantage for Texas Tech.
- 11:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'll I'm I'm gonna write off with Stephen there.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think Texas Tech is in a great spot here whenever it comes to Texas Tech, like with uh with fans there is you know, I think we're gonna be obviously relying on our which we probably have alumni bases and SoCal, but obviously the traveling fans as well.
- 11:18SPEAKER_04: I don't think any of the teams you're gonna go up against has a greater presence in general, even the t-shirt fans.
- 11:22SPEAKER_04: How much how much energy do t-shirt fans bring to a neutral site game like this?
- 11:27SPEAKER_04: I don't think it's really that much.
- 11:29SPEAKER_04: I think you gotta be more localized to really bring that sort of energy.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, I think we're in a good spot.
- 11:33SPEAKER_04: Otherwise, if the only teams that are gonna match us is like the teams like Michigan State, Duke, uh well, only because the t-shirt fans and in Arkansas obviously have a loyal fan base like Tex Tech does a very similar to us like that.
- 11:45SPEAKER_04: And um, I other than that, dude, I think we've kind of rolled a grid dice here because I think we've met pretty equal ground when it comes to where we're playing with fans.
- 11:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I couldn't agree with y'all more.
- 11:57SPEAKER_03: I I you know, after initially kind of looking at the teams in our region, you sit there and you think, I mean, yeah, we're we're far away, right?
- 12:05SPEAKER_03: But so is everybody else.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: And I don't think these SEC teams are necessarily, like you said, Bama.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, the teams that we would have to worry about immediately, Bama or uh, you know, Duke's farther farther away than we are, right?
- 12:16SPEAKER_05: So besides, I mean, most of them, most of them are further away.
- 12:19SPEAKER_05: You look at Yukon's coming from Connecticut, I mean, Arkansas, uh, even Duke, Duke's coming from all the way across the country over there in North Carolina.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I think more than I think it's the alumni base.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think it's interesting because uh in not just in our region, but it seemed like as far as um you know location location went, a lot of teams they sort of mixed and matched.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: I feel like usually you have some advantages here and there, but most of the Texas teams, besides uh Baylor, um, you know, uh, I think their first rounds in Fort Worth, but then they got to go uh somewhere out east.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's funny to me that like I don't think anybody really got a huge advantage as far as, especially in our region, a huge advantage besides um, you know, Gonzaga um being being over there on the West Coast.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I don't think it'll be that big of a factor.
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: I think it would have been a huge help to tech had they landed in the south.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: But as far as you know, an equal playing field, yeah, these teams are coming from from across the way as well.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: And so it'll be interesting to be uh to see this team perform in an environment where it's maybe more like KC was where there are fans there, but it's it's a little bit more neutral on both sides.
- 13:29SPEAKER_04: I mean, even even with a team like Gonzaga, you know, we're talking about a very small religious private school other than Washington, where the most lile loyal fan base is, and then they'll obviously get the the fans who attract to their success.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: But even then, man, I don't know if they necessarily outdraw a huge state brand like Texas Tech.
- 13:48SPEAKER_04: I'd honestly be more nervous about like a Boise state drawing more crowds to San Francisco than a Gonzaga, but uh I definitely see what you're saying.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: And uh, no, I mean it's uh I mean like Davidson, Michigan State, Montana State, really on our side before we'd have to get to the Elite Eight.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: I don't think any of these teams have an advantage.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: So I do like that the optics of that where it's gonna be neutral court, um, neutral site, uh, you know, game, and then and hopefully a neutral officiating crew as well, you know, not not getting uh any any uh home cooking here.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: Um and I think earlier I actually misspoke.
- 14:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm a little more bullish on Duke and the prospect of tech uh you know going up against them and being able to find some success, but can't get to Duke unless you beat uh Alabama and Montana State first.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: And I don't even know who the hell Alabama's uh I can't see it on this on my other computer show.
- 14:38SPEAKER_05: Alabama is Alabama's playing the winner of Rutgers and Notre Dame.
- 14:42SPEAKER_05: They're gonna be in the play-in game.
- 14:44SPEAKER_05: So okay, so actually honestly, honestly, dude, when I'm looking at it, I th I Rutgers plays well against really good teams.
- 14:52SPEAKER_05: So, you know, if I'm a bending man, I'm probably going rutgers to make it out of that group, out of those three teams to play Texas.
- 15:01SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh, oh, and then so that's I mean, I keep talking about Bama.
- 15:06SPEAKER_03: That's not even a guarantee.
- 15:07SPEAKER_03: I mean, Notre Dame, even though they were playing in, those are two big brands and two high-caliber um teams that could potentially get Bama first.
- 15:14SPEAKER_03: So I don't know, man.
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: It's it, I just keep like keep coming back to it's it's not the greatest draw we've ever had, but you know, at the end of the day, I think Tech's got a decent chance at a at a an elite eight, maybe appearance or you know, sweet 16 run.
- 15:27SPEAKER_04: I mean, before before we had you on, I mean, obviously have these these long pre-pod talks, even now we're talking about like you know, it's you could play you can complain about the draw all day long, but it's it's March Madness.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: I mean, you're gonna be playing good teams no matter where you are.
- 15:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, you can play about how you have slightly harder teams here or there, but no matter what, you're going up against teams that are the best of the country.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: So, I mean, if you can get through this bracket, you can get through anybody.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: I mean, we could then we could talk, we talk about elite, uh elite four, you know, that's a thing, final four.
- 15:55SPEAKER_04: If we get through this, so I mean, I I you hate the straw, but you kind of love it at the same time, right?
- 16:02SPEAKER_05: Well, you you also look at what happened in 2019.
- 16:05SPEAKER_05: We had to beat Michigan, we had to beat Gonzaga, we had to beat Michigan State.
- 16:08SPEAKER_05: Those were three really good teams that year.
- 16:10SPEAKER_05: So, you know, if we have to go through the same thing where we have to potentially beat a Duke, a uh Gonzaga, and a Alabama, I mean, those are three good teams.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: So, you know, it's it's it's always beating good teams in March Madness.
- 16:23SPEAKER_05: So this isn't this is the you know, NCA tournament for a reason.
- 16:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and oh that that's why I pose the the um you know, kind of being away from uh re the the regional question, I should say, as far as location is concerned, because to me it's always been more about you know, can you get fans in the stands to to support and kind of get that home atmosphere environment going?
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: Uh, because yeah, I agree with you.
- 16:45SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's it's really for the first, second, and third seed, majority of the time, maybe four, you could loop in there, and it starts getting a little dangerous in the 512s.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Besides that first game that you're feeling comfortable about, after that, it's any, I mean, you could lose to anybody.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: You're playing a bunch of good teams.
- 17:00SPEAKER_03: So I think it's more the there's more weight put onto the location, which is why you'll see a lot of tech fans on Twitter and and kind of across the way on social medias, you know, talking about how they really wanted that south draw.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: You know, unfortunately didn't get it, but like I said, neither did the any of the other teams in our our region, right?
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: They didn't get the home cut the home call either.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: So I think it's gonna be a pretty equal playing field.
- 17:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and you could look at even this season, if you're looking at just comparisons, we played two real true neutral site games this year.
- 17:29SPEAKER_05: One was against Gonzaga in Phoenix, and the other was against Tennessee in New York City.
- 17:34SPEAKER_05: So, you know, we we played really good, and you know, we played good in one of those, obviously.
- 17:39SPEAKER_05: In that Tennessee game, it was an absolute rock fight, and neither team was shooting well from downtown.
- 17:44SPEAKER_05: Uh, in that Gonzaga game, we were short-handed without TJ.
- 17:48SPEAKER_05: So, you know, you can kind of look at those two and be like, well, we played we won one of them against Tennessee, who ended up being another three seed in this tournament.
- 17:55SPEAKER_05: And we I thought we played pretty decent against Gonzaga.
- 17:58SPEAKER_05: They pulled away at the end.
- 17:59SPEAKER_05: But um, in neutral site games, true neutral site games, not like the Big 12 tournament where you're playing Kansas in the final, but you know, there's 75 Kansas fans there.
- 18:10SPEAKER_05: Uh, it's uh in true neutral site stuff, we played pretty good.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I I think it'll I think tech will have a very good showing, you know, based on that fact.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: And and if we would have had to run up against somebody out there in the Pac-12 or that would have had a little bit more of an advantage as far as getting their fans out, you know, uh and having good branding there, it might have been different.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: But tech fans ultimately, I think, you know, I know we've been doing like the longest initial reaction ever, but uh ultimately, you know, I I think you can feel good about just the overall kind of optics of this of um the overall, yeah, I mean, optics of this region as far as you know, I'll just flat out say it.
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: And if we end up losing that first round, I'll I'll just you know go into hiding for months.
- 18:53SPEAKER_03: But I think you look at you know, Montana State, and this actually this was a point I had put on the outline to kind of transition through.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: Initial line has tech at 16 and a half.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: I don't think that's a fluke.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, this is a team that has not played.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: I think uh Steven, you said pre-pod, right?
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: They took Colorado to OT, and that that was like the only P5 team they uh they played all season.
- 19:15SPEAKER_03: They've been playing teams close in in the big sky.
- 19:18SPEAKER_03: This you know, they won the tournament, which is great, but they they lost to, and I'll let Steven rattle off who they lost to over there.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: This is a team I think tech should absolutely dominate.
- 19:27SPEAKER_03: They haven't seen a um a team as physical as we have that can play defense at the caliber that we can.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: So um, you know, you get past that, and then like we said, it's anybody's game, whether it be Bama or Notre Dame or Rutgers, and then Sweet 16, Duke, or Michigan State, whoever.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, there's there's no cupcakes after that.
- 19:44SPEAKER_03: So ultimately, the point I want to make is I think tech fans should probably feel pretty decent about about where we're at, about um, you know, the fact that it's it's a true neutral site game.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: There's not going to be a distinct advantage for any of these teams as far as crowd goes.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: It's you know, it it's gonna I I think you can feel pretty decent about it, and we sure as hell should not lose to Montana State.
- 20:05SPEAKER_03: I you know, you get you at least get to the round of 32 and then toss them up, baby.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: You know, anything anything goes.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Jackson, put some respect on the Bobcats, bro.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: They're out there in my big sky basketball country.
- 20:16SPEAKER_03: I got mad disrespect for him right now, and it might come back to Biden.
- 20:21SPEAKER_05: To be honest, I didn't know the mascot until you just said it, Tristan.
- 20:24SPEAKER_05: So uh, you know, they're just one of those teams where we actually played them in football here in 2019, and uh, you know, the great Texas Tech quarterback that was Alan Bowman ended up going off uh in that game, and we ended up beating them, I think 45 to 10.
- 20:38SPEAKER_05: But that's the only experience I've seen with Texas Tech and Montana State.
- 20:44SPEAKER_05: But this team out of the big sky conference, like you said, Jackson, uh a lot of close games and a lot of bad losses.
- 20:51SPEAKER_05: You look at the losses that this team suffered throughout the year, it was um it was to Colorado.
- 20:56SPEAKER_05: That was their one power five game they played.
- 20:58SPEAKER_05: They took them to overtime, played pretty well against a decent Buffalo team.
- 21:02SPEAKER_05: But at New Mexico, at Northern Colorado, they lost to Weaver State at home, eastern Washington, and then they lost to, I guess, their rival Montana.
- 21:12SPEAKER_05: Um, but you know, I think of all the 14 seeds, you this is probably a pretty good draw.
- 21:18SPEAKER_05: You know, you wouldn't really Yale's made some noise in the tournament in the past, they're a 14 seed.
- 21:23SPEAKER_05: Uh Colgate has also made a little bit of noise in the past.
- 21:26SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then I guess Longwood is playing Tennessee, so I I guess you'd be fine with playing Longwood too.
- 21:32SPEAKER_05: But um, this 14-seed matchup, it's it's uh it's fine.
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: I don't think you should worry about it.
- 21:38SPEAKER_05: The 16 and a half point um line, what was it you said?
- 21:42SPEAKER_05: I think that's that's probably a pretty safe bet for Texas Tech.
- 21:45SPEAKER_05: Uh, this defense is absolutely soul crushing, and Montana State has not experienced anything close to that this season.
- 21:53SPEAKER_03: So true, man.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: So true.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: Well, I, you know, getting past that, I was gonna ask y'all, I had another question on.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Hear about realistic, you know, some realistic goals for tech fans to have and to set going to the tournament.
- 22:06SPEAKER_03: Of course, we're all gonna, you know, as we fill out our brackets through the SPN app, we're all gonna just um take tech in there and click on it just to see the confetti fall and get that feeling.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: And then we're gonna go back and be like, okay, now what do I really think is gonna happen?
- 22:18SPEAKER_03: You know, we all um optim, you know, uh hopefully, you know, wish and think that tech can make a run.
- 22:23SPEAKER_03: But realistically, what do y'all think uh a good goal for tech fans to to keep in mind as we you know get into tournament play?
- 22:32SPEAKER_03: You know, as far as an outcome, yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: And I I think that's probably what most people here are to here to like you know uh agree upon, right?
- 22:39SPEAKER_04: Is um, you know, I I really do think that a sweet 16 is serviceable, you know, to to uh to say that this was a great first season for Mark Adams to end in the sweet 16.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: But Elite Eight, I think, is a a huge success.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: Uh Elite Eight is a obviously a huge accomplishment, and obviously, beyond that is obviously exceeding all expectations.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: Um, but to me, I think hitting the sweet 16 is enough to say that we have our guy.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: You know, I already do believe that, but that this that nothing's been lost that Texas Tech basketball's here to say.
- 23:11SPEAKER_04: I think sweet 16 sends that statement.
- 23:13SPEAKER_04: What about you, Steven?
- 23:14SPEAKER_05: I I'm I've been super high on this team all year long, even from the preseason.
- 23:20SPEAKER_05: I thought this Texas Tech team was gonna go far in the tournament.
- 23:23SPEAKER_05: Whether or not we finished pretty high in the regular season didn't matter to me early on.
- 23:27SPEAKER_05: So I'm gonna probably say Elite Eight is probably where I expect this team to go.
- 23:32SPEAKER_05: Um, just with the experience that we have on this roster and and the NCA tournament experience.
- 23:38SPEAKER_05: I mean, you talk about Kevin O'Banner with Oral Roberts last year.
- 23:41SPEAKER_05: Adonis Arms had a really good tournament in the in the game he played with Winthrop last year.
- 23:45SPEAKER_05: Uh, and then we just have so much veteran leadership.
- 23:49SPEAKER_05: I I think if we lose one of these early round matchups, it's an absolute, you know, uh kind of a black spot on the season because we shouldn't lose to Montana State.
- 24:01SPEAKER_05: We shouldn't lose to Alabama.
- 24:03SPEAKER_05: Now, if we're playing Duke in the seat sweet 16, I think that would be as you know, obviously a uh an okay loss when you're looking at it.
- 24:11SPEAKER_05: But I I think this team's ceiling is championship and this team's floor is sweet 16 for me.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: I freaking love that, dude.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 24:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, man.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: I uh I maybe be have become you know a little more cynical uh these past couple weeks, and it's weird because um there's times throughout this season where I I think the exact same thing.
- 24:36SPEAKER_03: You're like, man, this team can and they can if they play up to their potential, you know, play with anybody, uh run with anybody.
- 24:42SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm I'm kind of more, I think, in in Tristan's camp as far as I think an elite eight would be like absolutely incredible.
- 24:50SPEAKER_03: Um, my I think my my expectation is more sweet 16-ish uh, you know, level.
- 24:56SPEAKER_03: But again, it's kind of like once you get to that point, anything goes.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: Um a sweet 16 to me would be I I would consider that a solid first year for Mark Adams.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: An elite eight run to me would be a huge just um cherry on top, you know, what a year.
- 25:11SPEAKER_03: And then if we go to the final four, I I I'll be honest.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: And again, I'm usually on our podcast, I'm usually the guy who's the the overly optimistic, you know, throwing things out.
- 25:20SPEAKER_03: I think a final four run would be a gift, man.
- 25:22SPEAKER_03: I just with the struggles we've seen lately, and I and it's so I don't know if teams are kind of figuring out um our personnel, figuring out our schemes and and able to game plan, or if it's just um struggles internally with guys uh you know not for whatever reason being able to protect the ball, turnovers and and um offensive lapses, but the turnovers mainly, that's my biggest concern, honestly, heading into the heading into the tournament.
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: If we can't figure out how to how to mitigate, you know, turning it over 12, 14 times a game, it's just gonna be really tough to get past a Duke.
- 26:01SPEAKER_03: Um hell to get past an Alabama, man, if you if you're gonna turn it over at a at a clip like that.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: So uh I expect this team to be able to get to the sweet 16 and then hopefully elite eight from there, but we just gotta figure out a way to fix to right some of these these wrongs that we've been seeing here down the home stretch.
- 26:17SPEAKER_03: I will say the Kansas game did give me a lot more confidence um because I think tech plays up to their, you know, that they play down to their competition, they play up to their competition.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: So before it started getting a little uh uh dicey kind of at the end of that game, I mean it was uh it felt like a final four caliber game against a very good Kansas team.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: So, you know, who who's to say that if we do get past uh Montana State and then Bama, they go into a Duke or a Gonzaga and they they elevate their their game, you know, they elevate their their level of play.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, to me, a sweet 16 would be awesome and then a lead eight would be a really good good year.
- 26:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I I think I I'm kind of getting into the team structure and everything like this with but the natural thing is to you know compare this team to the 2019 team, and the difference between those two teams is the ball handling, is the protection, is the the low turnover count.
- 27:08SPEAKER_05: You know, in 2019 you had Moretti, you had Mooney, you had Culver, guys that just don't turn the ball over.
- 27:14SPEAKER_05: And with this team, you don't have any sort of a true point guard.
- 27:18SPEAKER_05: So, you know, McCullough, I guess, is your best option there, and Malik Wilson, I guess, when you're talking about it, but uh yeah, the turnovers have been a killer.
- 27:27SPEAKER_05: And I think to your point, you know, Kevin McCullough's back now and he looked healthy in the Big 12 tournament, and that is going to be such a big part of our offense and hopefully, hopefully, not turning the ball over as much as we have uh to end the regular season and into the Big 12 tournament.
- 27:44SPEAKER_05: But um, you know, I this team, when you're looking at it, the overall uh for this division for this region that we're putting in, I think we have a pretty good matchup against pretty much every team.
- 27:57SPEAKER_05: Now, if we're looking at a really hot three-point shooting team, that might be a struggle.
- 28:01SPEAKER_05: But Duke is not one of those, even Gonzaga is not one of those.
- 28:05SPEAKER_05: So uh, you know, I I think Arkansas, if anything, Arkansas might give us the most trouble of all these teams.
- 28:12SPEAKER_05: And and this is one that I did not want to be in our region.
- 28:16SPEAKER_05: I have talked so much shit about Arkansas this year after we got Kevin O'Banner that if Arkansas beats us, I may as well just get off Twitter and get off social media.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: That's how that's how I felt about UT this year, man.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: I was like, we lose one of these two games, like I gotta go into hiding for a while.
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: Um but yeah, and I think to your point, real quick, Steven, that's what scares me about Bama is that they are that team that can get really hot, but uh, you know, to on the adverse side of that, they can also be absolutely trash, like you know, and just having a really off night.
- 28:48SPEAKER_03: So um that kind of segue, I mean, segues us into another point.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: I was gonna do some notes on Bama, Montana State.
- 28:55SPEAKER_03: Bama, I'm just gonna say I I I really hope whether whether it's the Rutgers or Notre Dame, I hope whichever team that is handle hands them an L in the first round.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: I don't think it'll happen.
- 29:06SPEAKER_03: But um, you know, they lose to they lose to Iona this year at one point.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: They lost to Davidson, who is um, you know, a team that that uh we could potentially see if they can get past Michigan State and then Duke or uh that Bama could potentially see.
- 29:20SPEAKER_03: So they lost to Davidson earlier this year, you know, mid-major.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: Um, but then they've also beaten Gonzaga, they've also beaten Baylor, right?
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: Um Baylor team that we beat twice as well.
- 29:30SPEAKER_03: But it's like they they just have these moments where they go out and they'll drop 90, 100 points, you know, and hundreds uh they didn't do that that many times, but they've scored 90 a lot this season.
- 29:40SPEAKER_03: They can really get out, and to me, I think that's worrisome with it with this Mark Adams uh, you know, coach team.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: It seems like we like to do a lot of half-court stuff.
- 29:51SPEAKER_03: We like to sort of um, even though I wish we would be a little more aggressive in transition, um, sometimes off of you know trying to run the fast breakoff steals, it could play to our favor.
- 30:02SPEAKER_03: Our defense is, you know, it's it's gonna be one of those matchups where it's defense versus offense.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Like R D is spectacular and elite.
- 30:08SPEAKER_03: Their offense can be next level where their defense can kind of have all these lapses.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: I think that favors the defense, but at the same time, if tech's having a slow day offensively and Bama just so happens to be hot, it could lead to trouble.
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: So I see a game that scenario playing out either Tech dominant, you know, winning by 10, 15, giving them the business, or Bama winning in a in a you know what would be a five-point game, a close one where they just get really hot and Tech's D can kind of try to slow it down some, but it ends up being uh us trying to catch up to them, and it's a you know it's a three, three to five point loss.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: So I don't know.
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: Ben I think that was that six draw is is the one I hate the most, man.
- 30:48SPEAKER_03: I would have rather had LSU, I would have rather had uh a lot of different uh, you know, some of these other six uh Colorado State, some of these other teams in there.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: So it is what it is, but um, yeah, man, I I don't know.
- 30:59SPEAKER_05: Yeah, Bam Bama's the three B all.
- 31:02SPEAKER_05: No, yeah, Bama, especially, they just really they rely on that three-point shot a lot.
- 31:08SPEAKER_05: And we've seen that in games like in the OU loss or in the Kansas State loss.
- 31:12SPEAKER_05: They have just been on fire from three.
- 31:15SPEAKER_05: What I think Texas Tech has done a nice job of is since those games, we've really guarded the perimeter better.
- 31:21SPEAKER_05: Now, have we been perfect?
- 31:23SPEAKER_05: No, but we've definitely done a better job of getting a hand in those guys' faces, not allowing so many threes, not letting a guy like Jaden Shackelford or Javon Quinnerly or JD Davidson just go off from three uh from that Alabama team.
- 31:37SPEAKER_05: So uh for me, I feel a little better than I would have mid season for Texas Tech in guarding the perimeter and doing all that sort of stuff.
- 31:45SPEAKER_05: But um, yeah, like you said, if a team gets hot from three, it's it's a it's tough for Texas Tech to overcome that.
- 31:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, a quick response to both of y'all on on those is one, the whole audience just got a healthy, healthy uh uh audio of Steven Re pouring his glass of whiskey.
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, did I see it was that?
- 32:05SPEAKER_03: It was it was a perfect like whiskey pop, you know.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Like there you go.
- 32:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then pour.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: And second, is it with Jackson?
- 32:15SPEAKER_04: I mean, great, great points on that, man.
- 32:17SPEAKER_04: Is obviously, you know, hot hot offense teams are gonna be the death of us.
- 32:20SPEAKER_04: Because I mean, offense is isn't really something we can keep up with, but if there's any if there's anything we can do to other teams, it's it's slow down their scoring.
- 32:28SPEAKER_04: And and to respond to Steven on it about the uh before that is um if we're gonna re if we're gonna, you know, with the with the healthy guys, is you know, we got our guys back, we got K Mac back, we got TJ back, we got Baucho back, and man, are they back?
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: So I feel pretty good about all of them heading into the tournament.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: So uh there's my point input there, gentlemen.
- 32:47SPEAKER_03: Hey, and it was uh excellent input, it was man.
- 32:53SPEAKER_03: Man, y'all are making me.
- 32:54SPEAKER_03: I I was telling I was telling y'all pre-pod, you know, I've been at the rodeo, I've been um you know celebrating tech, getting all the way to the Big 12 championship, each of those respective nights that they beat Iowa State and Oklahoma.
- 33:04SPEAKER_03: I was in Austin earlier in the week for a work thing going out, and so y'all are really testing me right now, man.
- 33:10SPEAKER_03: Uh making me want to go pour pour a little whiskey glass.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: But I told myself I needed to take a break from this bender I've been on this week.
- 33:17SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we were we were the complete opposite.
- 33:19SPEAKER_05: We were the complete opposite.
- 33:20SPEAKER_05: We just uh we took it easy all weekend, and then when Martin when selection Sunday came around, we were like, all right, damn it, here we go.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, gave up, gave up drinking during the week for Lint.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: So here I am drinking my ranch water during the podcast.
- 33:34SPEAKER_04: So that's I'm just uh getting getting it all out now.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: So I'm tempted.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: If I run off screen and come back, y'all know what it's for, man.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: I'm super tempted right now.
- 33:42SPEAKER_05: Hey, where's no judgment over here?
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: Where's my gist?
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: I mean, look at us, man, just great influences on one another.
- 33:51SPEAKER_05: This is very unread rater of all of us.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: That's the guns up nation uh stamp right there, man.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Golden stamp.
- 33:58SPEAKER_05: Absolutely, dude.
- 34:00SPEAKER_05: Um, all right, man.
- 34:01SPEAKER_05: We should we should talk about some uh potential upsets that we see, just talking about March Madness, getting back to the whole grand scheme of things when we're looking at the tournament as a whole.
- 34:11SPEAKER_05: Uh Jackson, I don't know if you have any written down, but maybe some potential upsets that you see in the first round from this whole March Madness NCAA tournament.
- 34:19SPEAKER_03: So the first one, everyone listening to this, or I would assume 99% of our list, the listeners are gonna like, unless we have some rando UT stragglers.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: I like I like Virginia Tech over uh I think they're playing really hot right now.
- 34:33SPEAKER_03: They just beat they just smoke Duke in the ACC uh you know tournament title game.
- 34:39SPEAKER_03: I had that pulled up earlier.
- 34:40SPEAKER_03: I mean, they beat them by uh a pretty healthy, let's see.
- 34:42SPEAKER_05: They beat them pretty good.
- 34:43SPEAKER_05: I think it was like 80, 82, 60 something.
- 34:48SPEAKER_03: I mean 15 points.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: They're they're look they look really good.
- 34:51SPEAKER_03: Um, they they've come down uh the home stretch and played really solid basketball.
- 34:56SPEAKER_03: There are they're I mean, they're a scary 11.
- 34:58SPEAKER_03: That's that's I think Texas fans are looking at that thinking, damn, that's a that's not the the matchup we wanted to see uh as far as 11 seeds go.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: I so I could see Virginia Tech over UT.
- 35:09SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, some people might say it's biased, and and maybe it is a little bit, you know, just some pure hatred there.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: Um I also, you know, funny enough, I've kind of been ragging on how I would like to see Colorado, you know, or I would have liked to have seen a Colorado State as our six in our region instead of Bama.
- 35:25SPEAKER_03: But to be honest, looking at their I think Michigan got um, you know, they're 11th seed, but almost some favoritism in this tourney, if that makes sense, as far as who were the first four in.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: You know, there was speculation when Richmond won today, who's gonna be the the team out of um Wyoming, out of Michigan, out of AM.
- 35:44SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 35:45SPEAKER_03: Apparently, yeah, AM was also way down the list according to the committee.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: But Oklahoma, uh, who's the other one?
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Notre Dame, like who SMU teams?
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, SMU of these teams, who's who just got screwed over by Richmond?
- 35:57SPEAKER_03: And Michigan to me, like they were really high on them.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: I I get the Big Ten's, you know, super competitive, but uh yeah, I don't know, man.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: They've had some issues this year.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: They they've I feel like late, they've had a lot of problems.
- 36:10SPEAKER_03: I mean, we know what happened with Juan Howard just straight up decking the coach from uh smacking, you know, giving a little slap to the coach from uh what was that with Wisconsin, I think, yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_03: So I I I think Colorado State, uh, this will be my my hot take or my sort of ups that maybe is I I like Colorado State getting to um maybe a sweet 16.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: Man, I think they they they can cruise by Michigan and then Tennessee has not been to the Sweet 16 since Rick Barnes has been their coach.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: To me, that's almost like uh one of those weird freaky trend things that you gotta pay attention to, right?
- 36:44SPEAKER_03: And so I'll I'll say Colorado State to to the sweet 16 um is is another sort of upset that that I could see taking place.
- 36:53SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 36:53SPEAKER_05: There you go.
- 36:54SPEAKER_05: How about you guys, man?
- 36:56SPEAKER_05: You know, when I was looking at this, and and I may be giving away my bracket as a whole, and I promise everybody, I promise Ramblin' Raiders, I promise Guns of Nation, I'm going to make a bracket in your bracket challenge.
- 37:07SPEAKER_05: I just wanted it, I just wanted it to uh to all transpire before I started doing all that.
- 37:12SPEAKER_05: But uh really obviously Virginia Tech over Texas, that has to be up there.
- 37:17SPEAKER_05: They just won the ACC tournament, they've looked good all year, but they've really just been bad at bad moments when where they lose these games.
- 37:26SPEAKER_05: And for them to just absolutely deck Duke, I mean, uh you know, you can't help but pick them over a Texas team that has been, you know, kind of underachieving all season.
- 37:36SPEAKER_05: Uh again, completely no bias over here on this podcast.
- 37:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, not none whatsoever.
- 37:41SPEAKER_05: But I actually I like Davidson over Michigan State too.
- 37:44SPEAKER_05: If we're talking about, you know, who's gonna be in our region.
- 37:48SPEAKER_05: Davidson's good, man.
- 37:49SPEAKER_05: There, they really are.
- 37:50SPEAKER_05: They they've kind of caught a bunch of eyes all season.
- 37:53SPEAKER_05: Uh, and Michigan State has underperformed.
- 37:55SPEAKER_05: Uh, they've hit some big wins this season, but a lot of really bad wins.
- 37:59SPEAKER_05: So uh Davidson over Michigan State, I have Miami over USC.
- 38:04SPEAKER_05: I have uh Miami has had some really big games again over Duke in Cameron, Coach K's last season.
- 38:11SPEAKER_05: Miami's played really well, so I would expect them to put up a fight over USC, but this is my biggest one right here.
- 38:18SPEAKER_05: And now I don't think there's gonna be another 15 over two seed like we saw with Oral Roberts over Ohio State last year, but South Dakota State over Providence.
- 38:28SPEAKER_05: Providence has been they beat tech.
- 38:31SPEAKER_05: Now, I understand that.
- 38:32SPEAKER_05: I understand Providence has been solid, but I hate those guys because that would have been another good win for us.
- 38:40SPEAKER_05: But South Dakota State is sneaky good, and if anything, I would expect them to beat the friars here.
- 38:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I like it.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: All right, so he I'm like I'm like scanning my uh 2022 bracket sheet here, and I can't find Texas AM anywhere.
- 39:00SPEAKER_04: I'm sure I see Texas Tech, UT, I see Baylor, I see TCU.
- 39:07SPEAKER_04: Where's AM?
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: I thought they're like good at everything.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: I you know, I've I've I don't think they make they made it up.
- 39:13SPEAKER_03: A good thing I have my headphones in, or else my wife might run up and throw something at my computer.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: Well, it looks like Texas AM Corporate Christie, the true AM uh campus has made it in.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: Y'all just made Nick very proud.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, uh as a guy who clearly knows nothing about anything, I'm gonna run into the bracketology by just throwing things at a wall.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: But man, I mean, I'm probably gonna like just speak from our own experience.
- 39:42SPEAKER_04: I would be scared to play pretty much pretty much any Big 12 team.
- 39:45SPEAKER_04: I think the only big 20 to Big 12 team I'd want to be paired up against is TCU.
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: I think I'd rather have TCU than Iowa State because I think Iowa State's hungry.
- 39:53SPEAKER_04: And even even like looking at a future Big 12 team like Houston, they're good as hell.
- 39:57SPEAKER_04: And I would be scared to play them as well.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: So I can't really come out here and give a definitive who's gonna win anything.
- 40:03SPEAKER_04: I think the only definitive who's gonna win anything is Tex Tech's gonna win the national championship.
- 40:07SPEAKER_04: And I know that's not a hot take, but I think I just gotta well, that's an easy one to choose when you're talking about when you're talking about Iowa State.
- 40:15SPEAKER_05: That's an easy one to choose.
- 40:16SPEAKER_05: A an easy upset over LSU because LSU just had that whole thing go down with Will Wade getting firing, right?
- 40:23SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna circle, yeah.
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: I was just gonna circle back to that and say that we missed one of the most obvious ones.
- 40:29SPEAKER_03: I mean, I you you I don't know anybody why they would want to pick LSU over Iowa State, especially coming off the scandal.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: I mean, what a weird time for the I I I haven't looked into it as much, but why the hell would you not wait until at least after the tournament?
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: Or maybe maybe they were scared that LSU'd go on a run and then it would look even more sus.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: But uh yeah, I think that's an easy one.
- 40:52SPEAKER_03: And for everyone that uh I referenced earlier, you just made Nick proud.
- 40:55SPEAKER_03: Just so y'all know, Nick was an island boy before he was a red raider, man.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: That's that's a tough scene.
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: That is a tough scene.
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: He was a Texas AM Christie Islander, island boy before that.
- 41:09SPEAKER_03: Um, another one, real quick, I'm seeing, and actually the the CBS um commentators were were kind of speculating on this a little bit.
- 41:16SPEAKER_03: Look, I know Baylor has has really done well and and looked good um for the majority of this season.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: Uh I know injuries have plagued him, but let's be real, man.
- 41:26SPEAKER_03: If I'm looking at eight, nine matchups to that as a one seed, I'd be scared about a a North Carolina or Marquette could be a I think a sort of gritty matchup, a gritty game for a Baylor.
- 41:38SPEAKER_03: Whereas like I think Gonzaga probably rolls Boys of Year Memphis, um Arizona, also a seaton hall.
- 41:44SPEAKER_03: I mean, I just looking at the the round of 32 potential ups that's a TCU TCU or Seton Hall against an Arizona team that that really relies heavily on their offensive game.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Um, and then yeah, Creighton, San Diego, I think Kansas will.
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: It's easy to say, and this is another point.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you know, I'm just ADD and all over the place right now.
- 42:03SPEAKER_03: Um, that that Tristan and I were kind of talking.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, uh Steven and I brought up earlier about uh pre-pod about the Midwest.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Kansas absolutely got the the most cake region uh out of anybody, man.
- 42:15SPEAKER_03: I'm like, who's the who's the true number one, like the overall number one seed here?
- 42:19SPEAKER_03: Because seems to me like Kansas got a way better you know pizza the pie than Gonzaga did.
- 42:24SPEAKER_05: Yeah, really, when you're looking at that Midwest region, I mean Iowa's pretty hot right now.
- 42:28SPEAKER_05: Iowa's looking good, and and really you look at that second half of the bracket, Auburn.
- 42:34SPEAKER_05: I I mean Auburn's had some really sketchy moments to end the season.
- 42:38SPEAKER_05: So yeah, uh they almost lost a brandy, I'm pretty sure.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they've been deflated here down the home stretch.
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: So I think Kansas got gifted a uh, you know, uh a pretty decent pathway here.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I mean those I think uh Arizona is in jeopardy, and Baylor are the two one seeds that are most in jeopardy of potentially losing to a North Carolina Marquette or a Seaton Hall TCU.
- 43:02SPEAKER_04: What the heck is a deflated end of season sequence?
- 43:06SPEAKER_05: Would it never Auburn Auburn has been bad season, dude?
- 43:11SPEAKER_05: It's been bad.
- 43:12SPEAKER_05: Not yeah, not us, not Armin.
- 43:15SPEAKER_05: No way.
- 43:15SPEAKER_05: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 43:17SPEAKER_05: Luckily, luckily, we kind of redeemed ourselves here at the Big 12 tourney, but uh but yeah, I would have been saying I would have been saying the same thing about Texas Tech if we didn't go through that Big 12.
- 43:27SPEAKER_03: I just got the scary thinking about that Oklahoma State game, dude.
- 43:31SPEAKER_05: Holy hell yikes, yeah.
- 43:32SPEAKER_05: Oh, all three of those games, but um one is the easy one because everybody's gonna choose Loyola Chicago over Ohio State because of course last season Ohio State blew it to Orl Roberts, and Loyola Chicago has been on multiple runs, you know, in the past few years.
- 43:48SPEAKER_05: I'm not choosing that one because everybody's going to choose that one.
- 43:53SPEAKER_05: It's the same type of thing as the Villanova Winthrop game last year.
- 43:58SPEAKER_05: Everybody was on board.
- 44:00SPEAKER_05: Winthrop beating Villanova and upsetting them.
- 44:02SPEAKER_05: I don't know if y'all remember, but I think uh Colin Gillespie tore his ACL starting point guard for Villanova.
- 44:09SPEAKER_05: So they were like, okay, this is it.
- 44:10SPEAKER_05: That's gonna be the matchup, that's gonna be the upset.
- 44:13SPEAKER_05: And it didn't end up being that.
- 44:15SPEAKER_05: And I think that's what this game is gonna be like with Loyola, Chicago, and Ohio State.
- 44:19SPEAKER_05: I think Ohio State's gonna take care of business here.
- 44:21SPEAKER_05: Um, but I do have one for the round of 32, and that's if no matter what, right here, Purdue is gonna make the round of 32, Purdue's gonna win their first round matchup, but they are going to lose to one of Murray State or San Francisco.
- 44:38SPEAKER_05: I'm saying it right here, right now.
- 44:40SPEAKER_05: That's gonna happen.
- 44:41SPEAKER_05: Purdue is gonna lose in the round of 32 to one of those two teams.
- 44:44SPEAKER_05: I don't care which one wins, they're gonna lose.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: Murray, oh yeah, okay.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: I see.
- 44:50SPEAKER_03: Oh, so wait, I think I think Yale, I think Purdue would have to, unless I'm looking at this wrong, I think they'd have to do Texas or Virginia Tech.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: Is it as a three seed because Murray, Murray State and San Francisco?
- 45:02SPEAKER_05: I messed that up.
- 45:03SPEAKER_05: I messed that up.
- 45:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, so I see what you were saying.
- 45:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because I was looking at it too, like that.
- 45:07SPEAKER_05: Suspicious edit incoming.
- 45:09SPEAKER_05: Suspicious edit incoming.
- 45:11SPEAKER_05: No, no, no.
- 45:11SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna keep this in.
- 45:12SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna keep this in because I messed that up.
- 45:14SPEAKER_03: But I think that bleep, uh no, I'm gonna keep that in the case.
- 45:20SPEAKER_05: You're right.
- 45:21SPEAKER_05: Purdue, if Purdue does get past one of Texas or Virginia Tech, and potentially Murray State or San Francisco, whoever wins that game gets past Kentucky.
- 45:29SPEAKER_05: I don't know if that's gonna happen, but Kentucky's had some really suspect games.
- 45:33SPEAKER_05: I'm still picking them to go to the Elite Eight.
- 45:36SPEAKER_05: So watch out, Purdue.
- 45:37SPEAKER_05: I don't think you're beating one of Murray State or San Fran.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: Hey, and just for the record, like Ramblin' Raiders are all about like sus edits because we do it all the time.
- 45:46SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 45:46SPEAKER_05: We do it, we do it for sure.
- 45:49SPEAKER_03: Uh so there's a team uh during the the CBS you know bracketology announcement, whenever they were running through the teams that were making the tournament, which is like also like one of the coolest things in sports, I think.
- 45:59SPEAKER_03: When all they're like, they're in the auditory or the gymnasium, everyone's getting like crunk because their team made it.
- 46:04SPEAKER_03: There was a team that made it for the first time ever in program history.
- 46:08SPEAKER_03: I can't remember who it was, but I would also go back and look, unless it was one of these one or two seeds.
- 46:14SPEAKER_03: Um if that was like a uh I'm trying to look here.
- 46:20SPEAKER_03: I don't know who if that team is even if it's a two-seed, maybe I'd keep an eye on that.
- 46:25SPEAKER_03: Long story short, because like first time in the tournament, dude, you never know.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: I feel like there's that Jacksonville State.
- 46:31SPEAKER_05: Is it them against Auburn?
- 46:34SPEAKER_05: Because I know Jacksonville State got in because of some bullshit.
- 46:37SPEAKER_05: Like the the the team that won that conference didn't get in because of the the like four or five year deal when they're moving up from conferences.
- 46:48SPEAKER_05: I can't remember the name of it, but yeah, Jacksonville State got in on some BS.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: Was it?
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: I'm trying to look.
- 46:54SPEAKER_03: Whoever it was, unless it was Jacksonville State, um I just there's something about that, I think there's something to be said about like being at the tournament for the first time ever.
- 47:03SPEAKER_03: You know, there's gonna be so much hype and like yeah, just energy around that program, around their fan base, uh, since it'd be their first ever tournament appearance.
- 47:11SPEAKER_03: So I if we can figure that out, we'll we'll tweet it out or get back to y'all at some point.
- 47:15SPEAKER_03: Whoever that team was, that it was their first time making it ever, keep an eye on them in the first round as well.
- 47:21SPEAKER_05: So, what I'm what I'm trying to say here is I'm I'm looking it up now.
- 47:24SPEAKER_05: Jacksonville State lost to Jacksonville in their conference tournament.
- 47:29SPEAKER_05: But Jacksonville lost to uh I'm trying to see it right now.
- 47:35SPEAKER_05: They like Jacksonville State didn't even play in their conference championship game because of some weird rule of like if you've moved up from conferences move or moved up from divisions, maybe like division two to like lower seed division one, you can't participate in the NCAA tournament for like the first four years that you're in that new division.
- 47:57SPEAKER_05: Oh, I got you.
- 47:59SPEAKER_05: So they got screwed over hard.
- 48:02SPEAKER_05: Uh, both Jacksonville and the team that ended up winning that division.
- 48:06SPEAKER_05: Uh, but but Jacksonville State is playing, I think, Auburn, and they are, I don't know, man.
- 48:12SPEAKER_05: They they kind of got in on some luck.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 48:15SPEAKER_03: No, that sounds like some fishy, fishy business going on.
- 48:20SPEAKER_03: Um, but, anyways, guys, other than that, man, I I uh, you know, we'll obviously dissect as we move into the week, kind of look at Montana State, what they bring to the table, and then let the cards fall where they will, as far as uh either Notre Dame, Rutgers, or Bama.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: But um man, I'm I'm just excited, dude.
- 48:38SPEAKER_03: I think there's a lot to be uh said about tech making a run to the Big 12 tournament and actually losing.
- 48:44SPEAKER_03: And this is a hot take that we were throwing around at the rodeo last night.
- 48:48SPEAKER_03: Uh ran into a young man named Steven as well, who is a Texas Tech fan, uh follows like listens to a bunch of Texas Tech podcasts.
- 48:55SPEAKER_03: Great name.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right.
- 48:57SPEAKER_03: Great guy, great name, runs uh you know, runs an all Stevens out there.
- 49:01SPEAKER_03: Um but he I was wearing a Ramblin' Raiders gear and he like he came up and was talking to me and Lane about it.
- 49:07SPEAKER_03: And and I think maybe losing to Kansas is something that you know Tech seems to come out fired up after after they lose.
- 49:17SPEAKER_03: You know, they got that bitter taste in their mouth.
- 49:19SPEAKER_03: And what something we mentioned earlier, playing down and up to competition.
- 49:23SPEAKER_03: Uh you know, Montana State would obviously be a trap playing down to lower competition, but the fact that we lost to me kind of says, hey, I I have a good feeling tech's gonna come out and whoop that ass against Montana State.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: This team always responds well after a loss.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: In fact, I don't think we've lost two games in a row all season.
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: I'm pretty sure.
- 49:42SPEAKER_03: I have to go back and double check.
- 49:44SPEAKER_03: Unless we I don't know, I could be wrong on that.
- 49:46SPEAKER_03: I have to go.
- 49:47SPEAKER_05: No, I think you're I think you're right on that.
- 49:48SPEAKER_03: I'll say I don't think we've lost two in a row.
- 49:52SPEAKER_05: No, I don't I don't think we've lost two in a row for sure.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: So I I feel good about the fact that they're gonna come in and handle, you know, not play down to their competition as we've seen tech do uh at times this season.
- 50:02SPEAKER_03: Um play, you know, smoke Montana State, play the way they can and dominate, and then um, you know, go into a game against uh one of these teams where hopefully our defense prevails and gets it done uh against uh either a hot Alabama offense or uh let's say an offense that can potentially get hot in Alabama or um a Notre Dame Ruckers.
- 50:21SPEAKER_03: So yeah, I don't know, man.
- 50:22SPEAKER_03: I think tech it's not the location we wanted, guys.
- 50:25SPEAKER_03: But my my kind of ending remark and and just overall assessment is I think we're in a good position, as good as as good as you can hope for, man, being a three-seed uh to make a run to the sweet 16 Elite Eight, and that that would be a really great season for us.
- 50:40SPEAKER_04: Look, I all I know is is we're gonna win this whole damn thing, but I mean, going to the elite eight and going to the sweet 16 is seriously it's good enough for me.
- 50:50SPEAKER_04: I don't mean that as like uh oh you know, not expecting much kind of fan, but like seriously, the year one with a great new coach, I think that's a great move.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: And I mean, I couldn't ask for much in this in the in the conference season, and having that be the the the cherry on top, as Jack said earlier, would be fine to me, but I know we're gonna make a deep run.
- 51:10SPEAKER_04: This team has been built for making those deep runs.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: We got that veterancy, we got that cohesion, we just have the ingredients, we got the sugar and spice and everything nice to make it deep into the tournament.
- 51:20SPEAKER_04: And I really do think that we have a lot to look forward to.
- 51:23SPEAKER_05: Yeah, and I mean, obviously, when you're looking at this whole thing, Mark Adams gets his team prepared.
- 51:28SPEAKER_05: He does, and no matter if they're playing Montana State or Duke, he's gonna get them prepared and ready to play.
- 51:34SPEAKER_05: And yeah, I think to Jackson's point, it's it's a real thing losing in your conference tournament game, guys getting on Twitter afterwards, saying, you know, calling out the fair weather fans, all that kind of stuff.
- 51:46SPEAKER_05: It fuels these dudes, and we saw it in 2019.
- 51:49SPEAKER_05: 2019, we lost in the first round of our uh Big 12 tournament, so they're coming off and they fuel off this kind of stuff.
- 51:57SPEAKER_05: So I would feel really, really scared if I'm a Montana State fan right here against this Texas Tech team and you know, carrying forward.
- 52:05SPEAKER_05: These guys build off energy.
- 52:07SPEAKER_05: I'm excited for this team.
- 52:08SPEAKER_05: I as we said earlier, I'm I'm really high on this team, and I I expect them to go pretty far in this tournament.
- 52:15SPEAKER_05: And uh, you know, I'm excited to see who we play in the next round, who we play in the next round, who we play in the next round, because I think Texas Tech is gonna go pretty far.
- 52:24SPEAKER_04: Look, we give respect to this to the other team on this on this podcast.
- 52:28SPEAKER_04: Can anyone tell me where Montana State is?
- 52:30SPEAKER_04: Like what's Bozeman?
- 52:32SPEAKER_05: So Bozeman, look at you! I Googled it.
- 52:38SPEAKER_03: Remind Montana's that one next to somewhere up there.
- 52:44SPEAKER_05: It's up there.
- 52:46SPEAKER_05: Lot of a lot of land.
- 52:47SPEAKER_05: Yeah, one of those irrelevant states.
- 52:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and and America's hat up there.
- 52:51SPEAKER_04: That's uh over the north.
- 52:53SPEAKER_03: We know there are gonna be just thousands.
- 52:55SPEAKER_03: If there, if there are even that many alumni, there'll be thousands of Montana State fans listening to Crossover at Jackson.
- 53:01SPEAKER_05: Dozens of dozens of fans uh listening to this uh we were reaching out prior to this, and there just aren't any Montana State specific podcasts, it's mind-blowing out there.
- 53:14SPEAKER_03: Well, we'll just we're inviting y'all in.
- 53:16SPEAKER_03: Come on, tune in.
- 53:17SPEAKER_03: You're not gonna like anything that you're hearing, but you know, your team's being talked about.
- 53:22SPEAKER_04: You ask literally any other team that's playing us.
- 53:24SPEAKER_04: Loving's apparently this absolutely town of a hundred people at most.
- 53:28SPEAKER_04: So if Bozeman's out there, listen to this barren, barren wasteland in Texas.
- 53:35SPEAKER_05: I think I think Bozeman has a few less people than Lovick, but that just might be me.
- 53:39SPEAKER_05: But uh, but this was fun as hell, man.
- 53:43SPEAKER_05: I mean, I'm so excited that we're at this point because we were talking about this earlier when we graduated, when we were at Texas Tech.
- 53:50SPEAKER_05: We didn't expect anything like this shit.
- 53:52SPEAKER_05: We didn't expect anything like looking at selection Sunday and hoping that we were potentially maybe a two-seed, or you know, hoping we're in the best three seed in the bracket to get in the region that we want to.
- 54:05SPEAKER_05: Man, at one point in our lives, we were just hoping we were in the in the NCAA tournament.
- 54:09SPEAKER_05: So I'm just so happy that our program is where it's at, that it's built up the way that it's at, that Mark Adams is leading the way right now.
- 54:17SPEAKER_05: I I couldn't be happier for our program.
- 54:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I couldn't agree with you more, man.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: And and I know you guys on the Talking Tech Podcast like to do the songs of the week, right?
- 54:27SPEAKER_03: That's we do, we do.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: That's y'all's, yeah, man.
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: I I enjoy uh you know tuning into the songs of the week and seeing what everyone's feeling.
- 54:34SPEAKER_03: So I feel like you'd be wrong if I leave, you know, bless y'all with a little knowledge here.
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: We were kind of talking about it pre-pod, and you know, I went to the rodeo last night, saw Parker McCullum for the first time.
- 54:46SPEAKER_03: I'll be honest, I I do like country, but I don't actively go to concerts and kind of uh seek the the live um entertainment.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: I know, man.
- 54:55SPEAKER_03: I feel like it's like disrespectful to say that as a uh as a guy who spent time out in Lubbock, Texas and went to Texas Tech.
- 55:02SPEAKER_03: But um, I think it was I just I saw Josh Abbott one too many times.
- 55:06SPEAKER_03: He just came around so so damn much in Lubbock.
- 55:08SPEAKER_03: I was like, okay, I gotta I gotta take like a five-year hiatus.
- 55:11SPEAKER_03: He's a Red Raider.
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: What do you want him to do?
- 55:14SPEAKER_03: No, I love it, man.
- 55:15SPEAKER_03: He's he's repping the brand well.
- 55:16SPEAKER_03: But um Parker McCullum was great.
- 55:19SPEAKER_03: I I you know wasn't as familiar with a lot of his songs.
- 55:21SPEAKER_03: Um, so I'm I'm just gonna give a general like go listen to this guy.
- 55:25SPEAKER_03: He's from Conroe, Texas.
- 55:27SPEAKER_03: He's uh uh he's a stud and he's a young gun.
- 55:29SPEAKER_03: He's out there just pimping it, man, when he's on stage and puts on a great show.
- 55:33SPEAKER_03: So check him out as a as an artist.
- 55:35SPEAKER_03: You know, that's my artist recommendation of the week.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: But my wife was fortunate um enough.
- 55:40SPEAKER_03: I was not fortunate enough.
- 55:42SPEAKER_03: I'm very unlucky in the fact that she got invited to go to the rodeo the night beforehand, where uh Bun B was playing.
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: Um it was a cold, chilly night in Houston, man, and and everybody was in there just with their whiskey blankets on, having apparently what was an amazing time.
- 55:58SPEAKER_03: I'm actually like, I had so much envy when she was explaining it to me.
- 56:00SPEAKER_03: She got back.
- 56:01SPEAKER_03: So uh he brought out like Paul Wall, Slim Thug, you know, some guys who uh who I also saw in in Lubbock uh a couple times, you know, at concerts.
- 56:10SPEAKER_03: And apparently it was just a huge like reunion Houston rapper fest, man, at the rodeo.
- 56:16SPEAKER_03: And so Bun B, that's gangsta.
- 56:18SPEAKER_03: This Texas Tech team is gangsta, Mark Adams is gangsta, and uh they're gonna get it done in the NCAA tournament.
- 56:24SPEAKER_03: So that's the song of the week.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: Put it on uh, you know, I was gonna say like earlier, I was thinking Old Town Road, but that's been completely ruined for me now with uh with how that played out, not only in the tournament, but with how that coach decided, you know, ended up uh leaving us behind and actually making us a better program in the process.
- 56:42SPEAKER_03: So actually, we should probably be thanking him.
- 56:44SPEAKER_03: But um, yeah, no more old town road.
- 56:46SPEAKER_03: We're gonna have a new song uh heading into to these to these um games to this tournament.
- 56:52SPEAKER_03: For me, it's bun B.

- 57:20SPEAKER_05: You know we love doing that here on the talk and tech pod.
- 57:23SPEAKER_05: Tristan, I know you prepared one, but let me hear it.
- 57:26SPEAKER_04: How do I feel of Big Velvet's whole like just the whole of him with the public the uh song of the week because he told pre-pod, just go have something by the end of the pods, yeah.
- 57:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was like, I'll just improvise here.
- 57:43SPEAKER_04: All right, boys.
- 57:44SPEAKER_04: So uh I'm gonna I'm gonna head over to the country zone as I do every single time.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: I love that we have something else starting it out, but I'm gonna do something, someone I haven't done before.
- 57:52SPEAKER_04: I'm doing Casey Donahue.
- 57:54SPEAKER_04: I know many many listeners are gonna be familiar with him, but uh definitely a guy, a song that I'm gonna do a pump up song here.
- 58:00SPEAKER_04: It's what cowboys do.
- 58:01SPEAKER_04: As Jackson said, he is just at the rodeo.
- 58:04SPEAKER_04: This is all about you know sitting in the chutes before you uh boast it up at those gates, and that's what we're about to do.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: We're in the chutes right now, and that gate is about to bust wide open.
- 58:12SPEAKER_04: We're on that uh one-ton bull, we're about to ride it until March is over, baby.
- 58:17SPEAKER_04: So I'm going with the cowboys do Casey Donna.
- 58:20SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna hang out until the ride is true.
- 58:28SPEAKER_08: That's what cowboys do.
- 58:31SPEAKER_03: Hey, Parker McCullum actually he covered that one last night.
- 58:35SPEAKER_03: No way, everybody was rocking, dude.

- 58:41SPEAKER_03: You just come out, come out of the gate and knock it, knock us dead, man.
- 58:44SPEAKER_03: So I like that one, man.
- 58:45SPEAKER_03: That's that's a good uh good pick right there.

- 58:52SPEAKER_05: So, all right, I'll finish it off with Song of the Week.
- 58:55SPEAKER_05: Now, I it's more about the title than anything.
- 58:58SPEAKER_05: We're in the West region, we have the most difficult region in the NCAA tournament that Texas Tech has to go through.
- 59:05SPEAKER_05: My song of the week is better class of losers by Randy Travis, because this is going to be the best class of losers after Texas Tech beats everybody going through here.
- 59:15SPEAKER_05: All right.
- 59:16SPEAKER_05: So Duke, Gonzaga, UConn, Arkansas.
- 59:21SPEAKER_05: All these teams are going to be the best class of losers when Texas Tech eventually makes it to the championship game.
- 59:27SPEAKER_05: So that's my song of the week.
- 59:28SPEAKER_05: Better class of losers, Randy Travis.
