- 1:03the sixties like the Archies and the Banana Splits. Four Finger Discount Dude,
- 1:23Welcome to four Finger Discount, where we are currently at the beginning of season
- 1:27seventeen. It's the podcast where we always love to go on tandem bike rides.
- 1:32This week we hit the review an episode that I rather enjoyed. It
- 1:34is Marge's Sun Poisoning. I'm Dando. I am guy in the back seat
- 1:40of the tandem bicycle and taking rather a different attitude to my man Dando,
- 1:47because no, I did not think much of Marge's sun Poisoning at all.
- 1:52Started off great, by which I mean it had a really good couch gang,
- 1:57and after that things steadily went down like a tandem bike with a trolley
- 2:04behind it with an overweight police chief. I've always been a fan of Margin
- 2:07Bart's stories because, in my opinion, you always get the best version of
- 2:09Bart when you have Margin Bart stories, and always find them quite relatable.
- 2:14Sometimes you get Bart being addicted Margin. By the end of it, he
- 2:15sort of comes to his senses that when he lashes out at Margin this episode,
- 2:21it was believable to the point where because he's getting bullied, right,
- 2:23and when you're ten, the worst thing you want in the world is to
- 2:27be, you know, getting bullied at school, So you don't want to
- 2:28be seen as a mum's boy. You don't want to be teased and things
- 2:30like that because she brings up the princess kake and things like that. What
- 2:32was nice is that he lashed out at her, but then immediately felt bad
- 2:37apologize and said, hey, happy would do something else instead. So it
- 2:39was that's why I say when I was saying, before you get the best
- 2:42version of Bart, that's what you get. He kind of like Marge being
- 2:44not proud. There's another episode called Bart the Mother. I always finding quite
- 2:47relatable and sweet in saying that I didn't like the B plot in this.
- 2:51I thought it had it was starting well, somewhat potential, my other is
- 2:53different whatever, but it just seemed pointless in the end because as soon as
- 2:57he arrived, he left, and I was like, just felt kind of
- 3:00what was the point? I know, sometimes I guess you got to think
- 3:04we've got to get home and into the episode, but it's like, well,
- 3:07if it's if it makes sense this here it was almost like a the
- 3:10Homer They fall where most seas, but I hope we're getting beaten up,
- 3:14and he's like, oh, I can monetize this. Here he sees Homer's
- 3:17arm, Oh I can monetize this, except he doesn't go and face for
- 3:21a championship. He gets there and goes much doesn't care about me. I'm
- 3:24gonna go home again. I'm like, you just got there, this is
- 3:27your first fight. Yeah, the b plot didn't seem very well thought out
- 3:34or even all that well conceived to begin with your right, It did feel
- 3:37very much like a rehash of the Homer They fall, or just felt like
- 3:40I imagine there's a big folder full of half baked, half conceived ideas that's
- 3:47sitting somewhere on a shelf in the Simpsons HQ, and when there's a gap
- 3:53in an episode, it was like, Oh, we've got to fill some
- 3:54space, so we've got to feel some time. They almost sort of reach
- 3:58into it at random and pull something thing out, and it's like, oh,
- 4:00yeah, this'll do, you know, I mean, and you know
- 4:03we'll find some way to resolve by the end, you know, through magic
- 4:06or something like that. But yeah, I was not a not a fan
- 4:11of the Homer arm wrestling thing. I don't how it started, how it
- 4:15ended, anything in it. Oh well, maybe the bit with the Texas
- 4:18Does Texas guy have a named West call him Texas Guy called billionaire Texas Billionaire,
- 4:23Rich Texan is what he's called Rich Texan Okay, Look I didn't mind
- 4:28that so much. I mean, he's usually good value when he shows up,
- 4:31and you know the bit with Homer, you know, pulling his hustle
- 4:35by being a dog and sort of doing a bit of a frank not unfun.
- 4:40But yeah, generally speaking, not a fan of that B plot.
- 4:43And yeah, when it came to the A plot, Look, you're right.
- 4:45I mean there's certainly some good mileage to be gotten out of the margin
- 4:54bart relationship. Although it tends to feel usually like the same thing over again.
- 4:59You know, Bartle disappoint feel bad about it, There'll be some kind
- 5:02of resolution. I think it was done so much better in March, being
- 5:06not proud all that kind of stuff. This time around. I don't know.
- 5:10It certainly had mm it had substance to it. You're right. I
- 5:15mean that whole scene where are the three bullies I confronting bart and you know
- 5:20it's like, oh, doesn't want to be seen as a mum's boy or
- 5:23anything like that. Yeah, that rings very True's you can actually you can
- 5:27believe you can see yourself when you're tend doing that without thinking You're just like,
- 5:30hang on, how do I fix this? Because your whole world is
- 5:33school, the schoolyard, or that is your world, and the bullies are
- 5:35picking on you. Gotta fix that immediately lashing out at your mum. I
- 5:40could see myself when I was ten doing that and regretting it a second later.
- 5:44But I can still see myself doing it in the moment. Yeah,
- 5:46but the way it was executed in this episode, I don't know, it
- 5:48just didn't really engage me in any way. I mean, I found it.
- 5:55We'll be watching these episodes and I'll be sitting all the way through it
- 5:58paying attention, taking notes or the kind of stuff. I honestly felt my
- 6:00attention just drifting, drifting all the time. It just was really half of
- 6:04this episode too, I know, keep its grip on my attention. Now.
- 6:10Maybe that's because the Oscars are on, We're recording this on a Monday,
- 6:15and the Academy Awards are on. I was sort of half playing attention
- 6:18to that. But in honesty, I mean, yeah, Marche soun poisoning
- 6:21just I don't know, it just really failed to grab me. I don't
- 6:26know. I don't want to be an absolute hater or anything like that.
- 6:29It just, yeah, it didn't work for me, and I don't know
- 6:31why. I don't want to be an absolute hater, but I can't tell
- 6:32you why. It's because you're live tweeting at the same time out the Oscars
- 6:35that he's suposed to be watching The Simpsons. No, no, I put
- 6:39a break on the live tweeting, and I only live tweeted like three things,
- 6:43and that's mainly just yeah for Key Hi Kwan. By the way,
- 6:46but this will probably be online by the time everyone's seeing the Oscars, so
- 6:50no spoilers. There were actually going to be doing an oscar specially for the
- 6:55very first episode of the new and improved Movie Guy podcast. So going forward,
- 6:59the Movie Guys is longer the Movie Guys. It's the Movie Guy.
- 7:01And what we're going to be doing is I'm gonna be there sort of just
- 7:04conducting the train, keeping things on track. But you guys, you listeners
- 7:08are going to be sending in your questions, so you can either we're gonna
- 7:10be asking on Twitter. We're gonna be asking on in the Patreon group as
- 7:13well. So if you haven't followed us on Twitter, we've just reached eleven
- 7:16thousand followers on Twitter, So think you have one rind of a pause for
- 7:18jumping on board and pointing us there at four Finger Pod. Follow us on
- 7:21there, and each month I'm going to be asking for some movie related questions
- 7:26and each episode, now, guys just going to run through and smash through
- 7:28as many male bad questions as you can in relation to the movie industry,
- 7:31movies and TV as well film and TV. And because you know, guys,
- 7:34we're gonna untapped out potentially have that there's so much knowledge in that brain.
- 7:40We've got to hack our way in there and get all that knowledge out.
- 7:42So, yes, film and TV questions we're going to be answering on
- 7:46the Movie Guy podcast are every month on Patreon. But with the with the
- 7:50margin bar story, getting back to the episode, I also enjoyed the way
- 7:55they got out of the story because I'm watching this thinking, so Marge and
- 7:58Bart are becoming friends here, they're enjoying each other's company. Mars made the
- 8:01mistake. The're getting back together again. But I'm like, but how you're
- 8:03going to get back to the status quo, because that's what they're gonna be
- 8:07gonna get back to the status quo. You can still be friendly, but
- 8:09they can't be best friends because that's just woin't work for the dynamite going forward.
- 8:13I like the way that they turned on Marge. We're Marge realizing,
- 8:16wait a minute, I hang on, he's becoming I'm making him Muma's boy.
- 8:20I'm turning him into skinner. I like using the skinner Agnes as the
- 8:22example of going Marge saying wait a minute, no, no, I don't
- 8:26want this. We can love each other, but you your job is to
- 8:30give me things to worry about it. Go out and be a boy,
- 8:31kind of like when we were reviewed the Sound Loot to the Sound Loot kids.
- 8:33Go ahead and go ahead and make some trouble. That's true, and
- 8:37that's a good point. Look, I feel bad that I'm sort of sledging
- 8:41the episode of the way that I am because it's got like a good structure.
- 8:45It's got good architecture to it, you know. I mean, as
- 8:48you said, using the truly toxic mother some relationship of Agnes and Seymour as
- 8:56an example of what not to do or you know, a bad mother son
- 9:00relationship. Yeah, I think that's pretty smart. And no, no folding
- 9:03into the karaoke thing. I guess it's kind of entertaining. But I just
- 9:07like how where Marge thought she was finally getting what she's always wanted, her
- 9:11son, who was her best friend, and then she realized, no,
- 9:11no, don't be my best friend, which is, let's just be friends.
- 9:15You know, let's just hang out occasionally, but let's just not hang
- 9:16out together all the time. Don't blow off Millhouse to come hang out with
- 9:20me, you know, don't don't have tea parties and stuff like that.
- 9:22Let's just be friends but not best friends. And so Marge finally sort of
- 9:26found in middle ground between what she's always wanted and what she actually needs and
- 9:30wants. You're explaining it in a very good way, and you are sort
- 9:33of turning my ship around. God, I don't know. I thought maybe
- 9:37it was a tonal thing as well with this episode. You know, when
- 9:39Marge was depressed, she seemed really depressed. I didn't like the montage where
- 9:43she was like taking the bike to Miami or something like she went to Miami.
- 9:45Why. I think it's a shout out to Midnight Cowboy. Sorry I
- 9:50missed that, Okay, but my apologies. Yeah no, no, no,
- 9:52no, I mean Midnight Cowboys bad as old as me. They did
- 9:58that recently on a Future runer episode, remember the mid Cowboy, especially the
- 10:01same song they used, Well, I don't think it was, was it.
- 10:05I don't think it was. No. I mean everybody know, well
- 10:07not everybody, but the song Everybody's Talking is kind of the most famous from
- 10:11from Midnight Cowboy. Yeah, it usually gets used whenever you're sort of referencing
- 10:16that, but I think they just use some of the some of the soundtrack
- 10:18from Midnight Cowboy in this particular instance, and it wasn't necessarily a real big,
- 10:22sort of obvious kind of shout out. But yeah, for nerds like
- 10:26me, it's like, I think that's what they're doing here, because this
- 10:28is when the characters are sort of about their lowest, and this is when
- 10:31Marges had her lowest, and it's like, I get that she's down,
- 10:37but yeah, this feels a little too down, you know, and I'm
- 10:41feeling more sad for it than perhaps I should. It was sad to the
- 10:45point where it wasn't funny because there was one line where she says I was
- 10:48really looking forward to that. I was like, oh, that's just sad,
- 10:50that's not funny because you do the bike ride with her and then he's
- 10:56just like, no, I'd rather watched TV, and then she's just really
- 10:58sad about it. I was like, oh, and then following that though
- 11:01she wasn't really sad so much. After that she was just sort of trying
- 11:05to rather bite by herself, and then she just I guess, you know,
- 11:07if you realized at that point no one wants to spend time with her,
- 11:09but but would rather play a video game based on her mother's son ten
- 11:13and Bite ride Maggie pretending that she's asleep, Lisa was just inconspicuously missing from
- 11:16that scene, and and Hope would rather watch TV, so she's you know,
- 11:22no one wants to spend in time with much, so I can understand
- 11:24why she would have mean sad. I did like though that as soon as
- 11:26Bart realized that she was feeling this way, he tried to fix it.
- 11:31That's true. Yeah, that was good. That was good. I think
- 11:33the end of the reason they had Homo go do the armrest and contest though,
- 11:35so he could come home and see I'm coming home to you. That
- 11:39was the only reason I didn't like that sing Sweetheme Alabama. I thought the
- 11:45Bart Marge singing the sweethem Alabama riding the Bite together was quite nice. It
- 11:50was pretty sweet, and yeah, I know it's appearanced by male man as
- 11:52well, who just wanted to It was just glad to get sharing their fun.
- 11:56Yeah, because the thing was season seventeen. It's hard. They try
- 11:58and cram these sweet moments into the show, but very rarely do they come
- 12:03across as genuine. And I thought there was a couple of sweet moments in
- 12:05this episode. Did that did come across as genuine, Like when but tries
- 12:11to tell Talmage, no, I really am sorry, I really do you
- 12:13want to spend time with you. It was just at that point in time,
- 12:16I just was trying to I wasn't beating. I wasn't I wasn't being
- 12:20honest. I was just putting on this act so the bullies would not make
- 12:22fun of me. Yeah. I thought that was a nice sweet moment.
- 12:24And then when they'll just ride the bite together, I thought was quite sweet
- 12:26as well. Yeah, it had a lot of, you know, genuine
- 12:30moments in there, but I just don't think they were executed quite right.
- 12:33It's like, yeah, they didn't quite pull off. And it's like,
- 12:37oh, I see what you I honestly see what he's trying to do,
- 12:41and you're giving it a red odd go bad. Yeah for me, at
- 12:45least it wasn't quite sick. Yeah that's fine, but I yeah, but
- 12:46I understand how some people would go yourself included dinner. I go, Yeah,
- 12:50they nailed it, good on it. It's not the best episode.
- 12:54I'm just saying there was. There was a lot to enjoy for me.
- 12:56Yeah, hey, my favorite. What were your favorite moments from the episode,
- 13:01mister Davis? Oh god, were there that many? Because I've actually
- 13:05written down here wrote in ink not a fan of this episode. Well,
- 13:13while you try to find something for your stuff, I enjoyed the bike ride,
- 13:15like I was saying earlier, Um what else? There was a moment
- 13:18with I loved Homer saving them from the pinball machine Devil's advocate and oh was
- 13:24a Devil's advocate? Yeah, oh okay, I'll not noticed that. Just
- 13:30I just always a pinball machine. I didn't see it was Devil's advocate,
- 13:31too busy watching the oscars about them when he says, well, had this
- 13:37happened? We're trying to impress some girls and think just got away from us.
- 13:39I'm we've all been there. What about you? If you found anything?
- 13:45I think, like I mentioned earlier. I think my probably my favorite
- 13:46moment is just Homer being a dork. I like that when he was doing
- 13:52his hustle a white partner. Well yeah, but also the thing that'll make
- 13:56sure that ginger really is flat because the bubbles Maine buds. I did also
- 14:01enjoy when marches at the end don't end up like that and skins like what
- 14:05a wall? Next question? You there eating the past. All right,
- 14:11it's time for some trivia. But before we get into the trivia, it's
- 14:16time to ride out the names of some of our beloved patrons who have contributed
- 14:18to this show, starting with our man. Of course you'll know his name.

- 15:31on patron Remember, guys wants to here a thousand supporters. We will be
- 15:33launching that Bob's Burgers podcast all right now, beginning each trivia. Now we're
- 15:39going to be doing our brain Was it a box office Brainbuster? One?
- 15:43Was the title we decided on yes, okay, the box office brainbuster.
- 15:46All right, so this episode originally aired mister Davis November thirteenth, two thousand
- 15:52and five. So what do you think was at number one at the box
- 15:56office for the week of November thirteen, two thousand and five. Before I
- 16:00give any clues, you need to have a stab at it first, and
- 16:04then we'll give some clues. For some reason, I want to say Revenge
- 16:07of the Sith, but I don't think that's it. He came out in
- 16:11May those films, the Star Wars films, but it was so popular it
- 16:14could have been hanging around forever. I'm going to need that first clue down
- 16:18to come all right and throw me a lifeline children's film from the from our
- 16:22friends at Pixar. No, don't believe. So here's a clue. Not
- 16:27Stuart, not start. So it's not Little, it's not Stuart. Your
- 16:33clues are really as a Derek man, it's Chicken, Little, Oh oh,
- 16:37Chicken. That's a terrible movie. I remember seeing that thing number one
- 16:41at the box Yeah. Kids, they're silly, they'll go see anything.
- 16:48Number two though, I'll give you a clue if you want to train you
- 16:52wouldn't want this to happen. Oh, well, that's Oscar Winner crash.
- 16:56I'm assuming No, it's a great, great, great movie, of course,
- 17:00but what specific to train. I'm thinking derailed, derail or to correct
- 17:07that is the one yes, and third was actually Zaura, a space adventure
- 17:10that's not bad, like an unofficial sequel to Jamanji. Yeah, yeah,
- 17:14I always I never I remember watching it once, but it was like at
- 17:17a party when kids are running around being crazy. It was on, but
- 17:18I never really properly washed it. But it's one I've always gone, I'm
- 17:21going, I'm watched this one day because I know I would enjoy It's always
- 17:23been a big fan of Jamanji. But um yeah, a random a random
- 17:26box office top three for the week of Neverber thirteen and two thousand and five
- 17:29Chicken, Little Derailed and Zura a space adventure. It certainly is. I'm
- 17:33trying to remember who's in de Rail. I think it's Clive Owen and Jennifer
- 17:37Raniston. Yeah, I watched about Aniston, but it's definitely Clive Owen's.
- 17:38Yeah. Yeah. Two business people having an affair and some some criminals going
- 17:45to out them or something, and they're going to find a way to stop
- 17:47him or something like that. That's right, Yeah, yeah, and yeah.
- 17:51The main thing I remember from this Zathura, I think it was the
- 17:53first time that a story young actress named Kristen Stewart, and I thought young
- 17:57ladies got something. She might go on to start them, I think,
- 18:00And it turns out she did. So well done me and well done Christen
- 18:03stear all right. My first question for you is why were they tearing down
- 18:08the pier oh um set on a sign? They did? They did?
- 18:12Didn't they for rich people's condos? Yeah, condos for Richard Hits. Yeah,
- 18:18for Richard Hits. All right, what's your first one? Who will
- 18:22provide you with tobacco lotion? Tobacco lotion? Was? Is it lung lung
- 18:30strong, strong lung something strong lung doctor lung strong, doctor lung strong.
- 18:37Yes. I did write it down, but I could be bother trying to
- 18:40find it my notes. My next one is what is the entry fee for
- 18:44the arm Wrestling Championships. It's the same as the prize money. Uh no,
- 18:52miss that one. Twenty dollars, fifty dollars, fifty dollars. I
- 18:56got a little dyslexic with my numbers there. What is the strong man's name?
- 19:00Oh? I do have that? Also, when there's a starts with
- 19:02R, doesn't it is R? Some what it begins with it does?
- 19:04Indeed? Um, it's not robusto mm a robust store. It's not for
- 19:11sale. And my final question is what color bumper card does Homer take?
- 19:17Isn't a red one? Isn't it? I read one? Yes, he
- 19:19is indeed, one question for you, Dando, all right, he hit
- 19:22me. Um the leaf Garrett unfortunately has to close due to what in its
- 19:27cakes? Rat droppings, rat droppings. I like that she ended her letter
- 19:33there with very polite, very sweet. It looks it looked like a nice
- 19:38little place to leave, Garrett. It's one thing living with an English person,
- 19:42certain sayings that I never would have ever heard of my life or said
- 19:45before, and I've now find myself sort of saying it. They love saying
- 19:49proper. Everything's proper. This is prop proper coffee. But it's when they
- 19:53say hello, it's hi. You're right, it's not hi. How are
- 19:56you going? Hi? Hi? You're yeah, you're right? Yeah?
- 20:00Yeah, how you're right? You're right. Yeah. It's just a continuous
- 20:02loop, all right, Yeah, you're right. Yeah, right, how
- 20:03you're right? And they love saying when you say something's nice right. Just
- 20:06say, for example, Alie, you should have said when did drew me
- 20:07today? They go oh, bless, oh bless, oh bless ye my
- 20:14bless. By the way, I think we should give a shout out to
- 20:17our favorite englishwoman apparently did very well with the running on the weekend. Yeah,
- 20:22my wife, Nicholas. She ran for the first time fifteen kilometers.
- 20:26She never stopped. She was training for it, but the most she ever
- 20:27got to running continuously was just under thirteen case. But she pushed through and
- 20:32that the turns out was actually fifteen point three ks. But they didn't tell
- 20:34anybody Nicolaus that she tiped over the fifteen came. She's like, you lie,
- 20:37I trusted you. She had like another three hundred meters to run through.
- 20:41But the we're waiting at the air near the finish line, and the
- 20:44photographer it was there. We're sort of like clapping all everyone that we're getting
- 20:45the kids to clap through. I was with my mom and my dad.
- 20:48The other contestant says, are running past us, and they appreciated the little
- 20:52clapping and stuff. But the photographer was there. It's like, here's your
- 20:55mum coming and yeah, like all right, we sit down and clap and
- 20:57he took a photos from the addie. Somebody there's going to be afraid of
- 21:00Nicola in the paper somewhere this week finishing off her race with the kids cheering
- 21:03her on, which which is nice marvelous stuff. Well, running fifteen k's
- 21:07NonStop, I mean, go on, I don't think I could do that
- 21:11unless there was some one with the shotgun behind me. Never then, do
- 21:17you love Bob's Burgers? Of course you do. Who doesn't? Well,
- 21:19what if I was to tell you that if you supported your Pal's Guy and
- 21:22Dando for just a dollar a month, you could help us finally launch a
- 21:26weekly Bob's Burgers podcast. Yes, we've set ourselves a goal of launching the
- 21:30new show once we hit a thousand supporters, and we're currently sitting at three
- 21:33hundred and fifty, so you know, there's still a way to go.
- 21:37But if you've enjoyed the thousand plus hours of concept we've chucked out over the
- 21:40last eight years, you can show your support by joining the four figure discomp
- 21:42family today and actually making it a reality. So go ahead, help us
- 21:47reach our goal and finally launched that Bob's Burgers podcast by going to patreon dot
- 21:51com slash four figure discount. You have the parent inside you right now,
- 21:53so use it. The original airdate of Marge's Sun Poisoning was November thirteenth,
- 22:03two thousand and five. Production code gab F two zero, written by Daniel
- 22:07Chun About Daniel Chunt, the writer of this episode. This was the first
- 22:11one he ever wrote for The Simpsons. He went on to become the head
- 22:14writer and executive producer of the Office. Well done, Daniel, Yes,
- 22:18moving on to I Dare I say bigger and better things by this point?
- 22:22I think because The Office is one of the most acclaimed US sitcoms of all
- 22:27time, especially in the last twenty years, certainly of recent years, certainly
- 22:32the twenty fifth century. Yeah, I mean it's one that people just keep
- 22:34going back to and back to and back to. Yeah. I mean,
- 22:37it's probably one of the things that Netflix was built on. It really was.
- 22:41Yeah. Well, do you think that's probably Steve Carrell's best role ever?
- 22:47Is that? Is that if if he had to put something on his
- 22:49tombstone when it came to a role, is that what's going on there,
- 22:52I reckon. So, yeah, I think that's is there a bigger role
- 22:56than Michael Scott. You know, he's the fort y old version of things
- 22:59like that, But I don't think it gets any bigger than that for him.
- 23:02I think when the time comes and we bid farewell to Steve Carrell a
- 23:04little saying in his um in his obituary, that'll be the first thing Star
- 23:08of the Office, Steve Correll. Yeah, I think The Office too was
- 23:12one of those shows that seemed to be meaned a lot more than others when
- 23:15when gifts and means became a thing. Yeah, absolutely, when that first
- 23:19started. Yeah, you were seeing a lot of a lot of Office reaction
- 23:23shots. Yeah, it seemed. I don't know if it started doing that
- 23:29in response to it or if it started. I mean, because you hear
- 23:32about movies and TV shows that are basically crafting scenes like oh yeah, they'll
- 23:36meme this or they'll turn this into a gift. So but yeah, I
- 23:41think The Office was definitely one of the first to be adopted by by social
- 23:45media in that regard. Reason I bring up The Office once again, All
- 23:48ties, all ties into the great circle of four figure discounts. Life.
- 23:52Our man Patton Right, one of our very first patrons, the first person
- 23:56to ever donate any made to this, to this little crazy empire that we've
- 23:59been building it the four Finger Discount Network. Pat Right and his beloved wife
- 24:03Katie are launching exclusively for us on the few on the four Finger Discount Network.
- 24:07They're going to be creating their own podcast. They've sent me the first
- 24:08episode yesterday on the Office, So if you're a fan of the Office,
- 24:11you can hear Pat Right and his wife Katie discussed every episode of all time,
- 24:15starting with the pilot of the first episode in My Possession. We're gonna
- 24:18beginning a couple more in the bag and we're gonna be launching that one in
- 24:21the coming weeks as well, so look out for that. I'll promote it
- 24:22on all the social media pages. But there's going to be an Office podcast
- 24:26here on the fourth Finger Discount Network, not hosted by us. Oh my
- 24:30god, a branch an atmostde They're branching out Pat Wright stage in our hostile
- 24:34takeover. Yeah, although is Pat Canadian? Pet Canadian? He is Canadian?
- 24:38Yes, okay, so won't it'll be a polite to take over?
- 24:45All right? So as I said, we're here to review Marge's son Poisoning.
- 24:48It was written by Daniel Chun, directed by our man Mike b Anderson
- 24:52and the couch gay. Let's discuss the couch game. He said at the
- 24:53start that you enjoyed it. It was almost like a mini horror movie,
- 24:56wasn't it. It was? It felt direct out of Treehouse of Horror.
- 25:00It really did. I mean, there should have been what started Treouse of
- 25:03Horror sixteen last week? You'd think so, yeah, because and it's like,
- 25:07oh, okay, oh they've been the couches a monster it's eating them
- 25:11or they're running away from the couch. That's oh, that's all good.
- 25:12Now let's get on the episode. D No, No, that's there's more.
- 25:17Oh, this couch is all over town. That are, you know,
- 25:21snapping people up, whether it's Sherry and Terry, Moe is being attacked
- 25:25by multiple couches someone other people are getting devoured. Had a nice, uh,
- 25:32spooky horror movie feel to it. And yeah, we're on a little
- 25:33longer than I expected, but just long enough. And didn't you know,
- 25:37didn't outstay It's welcome, I know, not at all, because last week,
- 25:41what did our stays, wellcome, I say last week, I mean
- 25:42never the last episode of seasons seventeen, Treouse of Horror sixteen that the Cane
- 25:47and Curtis watching the baseball that just went on and on and nine and nine
- 25:49and nine. Yeah, yes, and I know they have to cram Cane
- 25:53and Cotis into the tree House of Horrors somehow, but you literally could have
- 25:56had this couch gag, just have them get eaten by the couch on the
- 26:00ship or something like that problem solved. It would have been far more enjoyable.
- 26:03I think, so. Yeah, anyway, but yeah, it's a
- 26:07good couch gate this one. I wonder who who did it. I'm not
- 26:08too sure. I wonder what there was like a guest animal doesn't say anything
- 26:11on the wiki page. But anyway, So the episode kicks off with the
- 26:15family at Paradise Pier and March says she always wants to write that ferrest wheel,
- 26:18but it explodes because they're tearing the pier down to build condos for rich
- 26:23idiots, and but says, what are the joke is going to do?
- 26:26Or were they going to do their drugs? What are they going to re
- 26:27under? I don't worry, They're strong people. They'll find something that's back.
- 26:32Have you ever had a run in with a junkie under a bridge?
- 26:34I've said this story on the podcast before we did. There's a bridget goes
- 26:37over. There's numerous bridges, but there's a bridget goes over, sort of
- 26:40like the middle part of the Las Vegas strip. And we'll better go up
- 26:42and over the stairs. And I remember Nickel on a honeymoon. We'll better
- 26:45walk up. And this guy's just like a mate. How much for your
- 26:49wife or how much for your missus for half an hour? Or how much
- 26:52for your game from a half an hour? And I was like how much
- 26:55you got? No? I was just like Nicola, just keep I mean
- 27:00was flattered, like Nick, you're junk under a pitch. You got to
- 27:04take those compliments when you can get them. I guess absolutely. I don't
- 27:08know how committed that gentleman is to the junkie lifestyle. Yeah, he should
- 27:14be spending his money on drugs rather than other people's wives. Or maybe you
- 27:17didn't actually ask money. I think you just said, can I borrow your
- 27:19missus for half an hour? I think he just sets something Okay, committed
- 27:22to the junk because it was just cadging. He wasn't going to pay You're
- 27:26just like, yeah, three feet lend is your wife, We pay you
- 27:30back back. Always wants to be a to score the junk. He's come
- 27:36up to you at the bus stop. Hey mate, you got home.
- 27:37You've got money for a pack of smokes. I'll pay you back tomorrow.
- 27:38I'm like, well, you're really mate, you need to get home if
- 27:45you got two fifty oh get we need to use the phone. Remember they
- 27:48starts money for the phone. Yeah, that payphones died out. That was
- 27:51sucking at that little scheme, but they go. I did really enjoy actually
- 27:56here when they're pulling down there the various little stores in games, how the
- 28:00bottles didn't fall down? I know. I mean, you're a bit of
- 28:04a reminiscent of the South Park we recently did when they were, yeah,
- 28:08taking advantage of by the carnies who made the ball that the whole goes through
- 28:12just a turn a bit too small, and yeah, it's I would say
- 28:17it's common knowledge, but it's a bit of a common stereotype that no matter
- 28:21how hard you throw a ball that that stuck with milk bottles, that I
- 28:23will never fall down finally they finally revealed the horrible truth. By the way,
- 28:29if you I found at South Park and you haven't checked out that podcast,
- 28:32we just uploaded our review of Chef a one of the most notable episodes
- 28:36of all time. South Chef A Manly was running while at that point,
- 28:38so I highly advised to check out our south Park podcast Going down to South
- 28:41Park. It is really fun and quite honestly, it's catching up to four
- 28:45figure discount. It's going pretty fucking well when it comes to people listening to
- 28:48that show. So hey, I love South Park and I've been watching the
- 28:52new episodes and the last two or three episodes have been really good. Have
- 28:55you seen the Japanese toilet one yet? Because that was fucking hilarious. I
- 28:59have not seen it yet. Unfortunately, I'm the cue, so I'll ramp
- 29:03it up, ramp it up the que a bit. That's one thing Tray
- 29:06and Matt. I know it's training Matt who are in charges, but whoever's
- 29:07in charge of distributing the south Like, they do it right. They put
- 29:11it on TV and they make it accessible immediately worldwide. It's like you want
- 29:15to watch your ship here. It is. It's like that's how it should
- 29:17be. Yeah, don't need to part it, don't need to VPN.
- 29:22You know everyone out there, you know everyone's talking about at the same time.
- 29:26Yeah, it's really good stuff. So yeah, check out going down
- 29:26to South Park if you haven't already. But yes, the bottles don't fall
- 29:30down home. It goes to Captain Dodgems or before that though, the guy
- 29:33who approaches that they do the jackhammer and I think it's like the sledgehammer or
- 29:37whatever, the bottles trying to get him to fall over. Then Rosco from
- 29:40the steel mill factory arrives to check it out. Oh my gosh, that
- 29:45worke hard. We play hard. That was in. There were a few
- 29:49there are a few shout outs in this episode, or a few callbacks.
- 29:52I mean, the whole life partner thing is apparently a bit of a callback
- 29:56as well, is it to what? Yeah, that's what I'm trying to
- 29:59That's I was trying to remember, because I'm like, who said, where
- 30:02did you see this? Who said it was a callback? I saw it
- 30:03on the internet, which wouldn't lie to me. Okay, yeah, um,
- 30:07well it looked they didn't say to what it was a callback too.
- 30:11Yeah, I too sure. Um anyway, but he goes to the other
- 30:15dodging cars and he takes the red one and he connects to the tram line.
- 30:18I'm assuming it's a tram line, and that's how he gets driving along.
- 30:21I did love did love wise guy or guy with the wax guy boy
- 30:25saying shouldn't be a problem, and he bumps into the cops and they treat
- 30:30like the dodging cars. I hate this, right, there's always that one
- 30:32kid that just gets stuck in the corner on the dodgings or that you know,
- 30:34there's always that one where like the dad can't operate it properly, so
- 30:38that the guys trying to fix it, and he's just the dad's so embarrassed
- 30:41and he can't operate the fucking dodging. He's like hanging on with one hand
- 30:45and ship trying to steal the car, giving it a shake. Then we
- 30:51see all the different things getting pulled down. King Neptune saltwater bath which cures
- 30:55imbacility is how he said the word in facility inmbciles imbacility. I'm not even
- 30:59sure it's basil. He is a word. Tell let's go with it,
- 31:00Let's go with it, Ah, doctor Lunstrong's tobacco station and sulfur pops.
- 31:04That loud pronouncement means it's working. And magnesium vapor soaked tubs. But what's
- 31:10one of these? Much as No, So he goes limp, just behaving
- 31:11like a even ture little child that kids tend to do. Lisa, my
- 31:17daughter, Holly's just learned how to do that, so doesn't get what she
- 31:19wants. You're holding her hand, Limp and oh no. To the people
- 31:25who are watching it, it's like, look look at that awful man dragging
- 31:29his child. It's like she's not walking to drag it. What do you
- 31:32want me to do? So? You know, and even Marge here they
- 31:36actually pointed out in this moment he's just faking that he's lost vitality. Yes,
- 31:40I believe it's like no years. And then Homer says it is Robusto
- 31:45for sale. He's not for sale, but he wants to um sell of
- 31:48his stuff. So Homer buys his last dumbbell for five dollars. And this
- 31:52is where Marge sees the tandem bike. She's very intrigued by this. And
- 31:56I looked at this and went, that's actually a really fun idea. I
- 32:00don't know if Nicola and I together would have the coordination to operate one though.
- 32:02They seem like you'd have to be perfectly in sync, like one person
- 32:07slightly off and it's old game over, you know. That's the thing.
- 32:09It seems very much like a test of your relationship. And if you couldn't
- 32:14be in sync riding and riding a bike, then you'd probably start snapping it.
- 32:16Well, no, it was your fault on whatever. I don't know.
- 32:21To me attend them bike just does not look like fun at all,
- 32:23because like that point, it would have been twenty I want to say,
- 32:28you've maybe fifteen, twenty sixteen. Maybe I've brought this story up years and
- 32:30years ago were probably going to happen. But we're in Adelaide and they've got
- 32:35these bike ride tours where you're you're ride like mountain bikes right up through the
- 32:38hills and through the bush and ship and then you end up riding through the
- 32:42city a bit and you come to like suburbia, and then you ride at
- 32:45this guy's place who sort of runs the place right sort of at his house
- 32:46in Suburbia. Nikola, fine, fucking up these hills, down these hills,
- 32:52no issue. Through the city of Adelaide. No, it's kind of
- 32:53like a big gelong Adelaide. But she's stopping at the traffic. She's fine,
- 32:57blah blah blah. We get to suburbia, sort of just ride along
- 33:00giant, wide fucking street, barely a car part on the side of the
- 33:04road, no one around. I was here, crash splash, turned around
- 33:07Nicolas laying in the gutter if they bite titty hanging out of her dress,
- 33:10just fucking lay in there. Nicola, what happened? She's like, I
- 33:15don't know, I lost control. I'm like, this is where you lost
- 33:19control. And there's the whole time when she's just laying there, boob hanging
- 33:24out. This is guy who's watering his front lawn like his natures trip,
- 33:28just looking at her, none of us saying that, noting I was just
- 33:30watering his grass watching looking at it. What a creep. I was just
- 33:35like her. I was just like, Nicola, should put a bob away.
- 33:37I was like, you're done. He's just It's just like he's just
- 33:39like standing there watering nare sip, watching her laying in the gutter. But
- 33:44yeah, I just remember always thinking Nicholas you went through the hills, through
- 33:46the traffic in the city of guests. The suburbia just done, so defeated
- 33:50by the suburbs of Adelaide. Whenever I get intreated by the idea of a
- 33:53tandem bike, I think of that moment and go, if you can't write
- 33:57through suburbia, if you can't handle the streets of Adelaide, maybe the streets
- 34:02of Gelong out a question. By the way, we mentioned parking on our
- 34:07recent review of the parking space for Talking Seinfeld, and we've got a message
- 34:12from a one of our listeners, one of our patrons, of course,
- 34:15oh i'll say his name, So if you're a fan of signf I check
- 34:16it out, but you'll we will be responding to it because it was It
- 34:20wasn't a heated message, but it was from It was defending the idea of
- 34:22putting a bike lane in Geelong. It was one of a man, Dan
- 34:25Motter, and he is he's an American who's never been a Gelonge says,
- 34:30granted that, but he's a city planner who specializes in transportation, so he
- 34:34was very Look, he didn't agree with our opinion and he's got to give
- 34:37this big spear and I was like, I think we need to retort to
- 34:39this on our talking sign of our podcast, so listen out for an episode
- 34:43of The Keys. We were retorting to that. Indeed, indeed, I
- 34:46won't go into it town because that's for that episode. Yeah, Dan,
- 34:51I believe I prefaced my ramp by saying, these guys have got good intentions
- 34:55and a good idea, and it be better if cities were all a bit
- 34:59more bike. But at the same time, you went about it all wrong,
- 35:02Shave. We can't blame you for the traffic congestion because you had good
- 35:07intentions. But we'll talk well, Dan, Prepare for a Prepare for a
- 35:15big rebuttal Yeah, that's a tease for our episode of Talking Sipop for The
- 35:17Keys the season finale of season three. A bicycle belt for two and I
- 35:23could be one of those two on me. If I buy a bicycle belt
- 35:30for two, will you ride with me? I don't hate your mother,
- 35:35I just won't be sad when she dies forty seven forty eight. I was
- 35:38asking for something, Yes, sure, whatever you want ninety five ninety six,
- 35:44thirteen sixty four Banana. It was. It was pretty much a joke
- 35:46throughout this whole opening at home. I'll just being a dickted margin whenever situations
- 35:52like this OC I tend to ride in my notes, Oh, great homes
- 35:53being a joke? This time I write great homes being an asshole? Do
- 35:58you think when he really was? Do you think moments like that cause you
- 36:00to sort of switch off a bit when you're watching the Do you think it
- 36:04puts the bad taste in your mouth? And do you think that's what's caused
- 36:07you to not really see the positives of the marsh story because you're not fixated
- 36:09on the home, but it just leaves a bad taste, like, Oh,
- 36:12it's one of these ones, I think. So I wouldn't be surprised
- 36:15if that was actually the case. When you know, you push the jerk
- 36:19angle just into the red I'm like, really, you're going to be like
- 36:22this, I don't know, man, If you're not going to meet me
- 36:24halfway, forget about it. So she crosses tent buying a tandem bike off
- 36:30her bucket list. She also wants to visit holy Land and return safely,
- 36:34download something that never get new hairstyle though, yeah, and never never change
- 36:39hair do, and try wheatbread. This is the speaking of wheatbread. Right
- 36:44when you go to subway and you say I want wholemeal bread, they give
- 36:47your wheatbread. And what this motherfucker is not weak. This is not wholemeal
- 36:51bread like multigrain bread. It's wheatbread. I'm like, there's no grains on
- 36:54this, Like that's the closest thing we have. I'm like it might be
- 36:58the closest, but I asked for LTI gram bread. Used to have multigran
- 37:00bread. I wouldn't have it anymore. I'm like, well, you just
- 37:02need to tell me that next time instead of just assuming I want your wheatbread.
- 37:07I've met a subway in a while. Is it still? Is it
- 37:09still a tasty sandwich? I haven't been. I didn't go because we had
- 37:14a letter shortage here in Australia recently and they started putting cabbage in with the
- 37:17letters and I was like, I'm not eating a solid sandwich of cabbage in
- 37:20it. No, thank you, It's just not happening. Yeah, And
- 37:22I haven't again. It's been six months. I just I prefer to just
- 37:24make my lunches. Now now that I'm working from home, I've sort of
- 37:28have more time to make my own lunches. I used to get Subway when
- 37:30I wanted a healthy year option for lunch when I was working in the office.
- 37:32But now that I'm at home, I'm like, do my shopping on
- 37:35a Sunday, buying my ship for the week, and i make my salid
- 37:37roles for lunch, and I'm happier. Yeah, save your money. That
- 37:39makes a whole bunch of sense. Yeah. So now we're at home and
- 37:44Homer's not refusing to ride the buck of Marge. He's just showing no interest
- 37:47at all. He'd rather watch TV. And but also, and that's when
- 37:52Marge says, I was really looking forward to it. I was like,
- 37:54oh man, this is really not heartbreaking. It's just like it makes home
- 37:59to look give them work us, you know, Like I said, I
- 38:00think that was the one two punch that's like, this episode is copying an
- 38:06attitude that I don't necessarily enjoy. Yeah, we all see marges like our
- 38:09mother. She's our country mother, and we don't like her seeing her feel
- 38:13sad. So but at first, you know, he'd rather play the video
- 38:15game, which you know, I like the joke that the fact that he
- 38:17was playing tennem Bike Robbing one and Maggie pretends to be asleep, so Marge
- 38:22tries riding it by herself. She keeps crashing, and she finally is the
- 38:25hang of it. But Bart's in the treehouse of with Nelson and Millhouse and
- 38:29they point out how lonely she is and where Bart sees it, and you
- 38:31know, he wakes her up in the morning and offers to go for a
- 38:34bike ride and she's like, there's gotta be a catchy. He's like,
- 38:37nope, he just wants to be a good son. I was like,
- 38:37oh, that's nice. That was a nice turn. That made me think
- 38:42this was could be going somewhere. It might might right redeem itself. And
- 38:45dear that this whole following sequence where they're you know, riding through the streets
- 38:50and having a mid of a having a bit of fun together, Yeah,
- 38:52it was heartwarming. One say she brings up. I think she says,
- 38:57you're just trying to get me a call pizza in the morning or something,
- 38:59which leads to calling Dominoes which isn't open yet and having an argument with a
- 39:02recorded message. Because it's season seventeen, Homer Barton Marge and now singing Sweet
- 39:08Home Alabama as we come back from commercial just driving through the streets of Springfield,
- 39:13taking it all the scenery and all the various things going on. I
- 39:15do like it when they just sort of go through Springfield, whether it were
- 39:17driving through or right and a bike. In this example, you just see
- 39:21life in Springfield just happening. A day in the life of Springfield. I
- 39:23like it. We see moments like this and they end up going through a
- 39:25scary woods and then they arrive it. I think it was a place called
- 39:29Springshire. Was that where what it was called the place they arrived at.
- 39:32That sounds right. Just double check lets Springshire in my notes, but for
- 39:36some reason that does seems to like it's going to be wrong. I'm just
- 39:37gonna double check spring Shire, Simpsons. It is, Yeah, Springshire,
- 39:40that's what it's called, all of you in England, Springshier. It's Lincolnshire,
- 39:45lincoln not Inncolnshire, Lincolnshire, Springshier, Springshire. I guess we should
- 39:51probably say Springsher, considering that there it seems British like tea tea tea pot.
- 39:55Yeah, it's got a little bit of a British field this episode.
- 39:59Say, I wouldn't be surprised, spring Shier, Springshier, what sounds nice.
- 40:04I think spring Shire sounds nicer Springshire. They're both nice. They're both
- 40:07nice. Yes, but I can't we buy, can't we? You know,
- 40:10bet on both the you know, being good. I like the idea
- 40:14that there has always been this nice place, but Marge has never visited because
- 40:16you're scared to go through the dark woods, like there's gonna be a little
- 40:20there's a reason why they have never gone here before. But they arrive,
- 40:22they come across the what was the place called the leaf Garret? The leaf
- 40:28Garrett, Yes, a little bit of a plate. You're far too young
- 40:31to be aware of. A seventies pop star named Lafe Garret lost them.
- 40:37I knew this would have been something, but I'm like, guy, will
- 40:39explain to me. It was lost on me. My sisters were very big
- 40:44on him back in the back in the late seventies. I'm like, hey,
- 40:45this girl looks like a wiener because I was a charming little brother.
- 40:52Is it because also, too that you think that, you know, when
- 40:55I've never had I had a younger sister, when he had older sisters.
- 41:00When they started taking notice of boys, were you protective of your sisters or
- 41:04because they were older, you didn't have that sort of element to you.
- 41:07No, I'm not protective of all my sisters. I mean I think there
- 41:09was some element of me that was like part of me wanted to defend them
- 41:15if they needed defense. And Bart of me also recognized there's not much I
- 41:19can do against this guy who's got maybe two feet on me, also has
- 41:22a mustache. I meanwhile, I'm talking like that, you'd be nice to
- 41:29my sister, you like me to deal with or else or else, but
- 41:34it needs the bathrooms. They go into the tea house and Bart is enjoying
- 41:37all the various sweets. That's the thing about having a tea. It's like
- 41:40a there's an it's like called English tea. What's the call when you go
- 41:44out for like a small supply tea? Yes, high tea, that's it.
- 41:47Yes. And I remember one time Nichols, we're going to a high
- 41:51tea like we'll got in England and her dad organized and I was like,
- 41:52high team. I don't drink tea, God damn it. And I'm like
- 41:55whatever, we're here, we're here, let's just do it. And we're
- 41:58then it's like what how many cakes would you like? And I was like,
- 42:00this is a high tea. This is like the endless scones. I
- 42:05was like, this is awesome. I hope you sort of you took him
- 42:07inside, said you got a branding problem. Yeah, you're calling this high
- 42:12tea? Why don't you call it all? Are you going to eat cakes?
- 42:15I get the feeling you would quadruple your aladiness. Cake buffet is what
- 42:22it should be called. Homer then enters mos. He finds the more stuck
- 42:27under Devil's Advocate, and I can't believe he didn't realize that you're falling.
- 42:30No, it's your favorite moment that hurts. Hey, what's the big idea?
- 42:37Getting trapped under that thing? Long story. We were trying to impress
- 42:42some girls and things kind of got away from us. Just from a record,
- 42:45I regretting Latin Homer, how'd your right arm get so strong just lifting
- 42:52this stumbo nine fifty? I'm pretty happy with it. Maybe no, it's
- 43:00lefties turn. Oh no you don't. I just got an idea. Hey
- 43:10what you yeah? Son? Bart goes through the fridge and all he can
- 43:20say is healthy food. Now, did Marge take away all the treats?
- 43:22Out of the fridge, so that Bart would want to go back to the
- 43:25tea house. Is that? What is that the idea you got from this?
- 43:28That's a pretty savvy move, I think. I think Marge and might
- 43:31have pulled a bit of a swifty there. You know. Either way she
- 43:35wins, you know, but it's like, oh, well, I guess
- 43:37I'm gonna have to have some of these healthy snacks or you get on the
- 43:40bike and your ride to the cake place. Yeah, either way, Marge
- 43:45is coming out of win and so is Bart. This is getting some exercise
- 43:49that he wouldn't be getting otherwise, that's true. And you know, all
- 43:52that all that bike riding is going to earn the gate, all the sugar.
- 43:55He's interesting or some of it at least. Anyway, as you think
- 43:59points that he bales on Millhouse, I think it with a dentist appointment or
- 44:01something like that. And it's a lazy eye. Lazy eye, that's right.
- 44:05Yeah. So you can see here that Bart is now putting Marge above
- 44:07his friends, which is nice, but it's not a healthy relationship all the
- 44:12time. Balance moderation, Yeah, everything in moderation, which Texan and arrives
- 44:19and Mow and hammer are going to swindle him, and I just really enjoyed
- 44:22this. I love a good hommer remost scheme. Give me a bottle of
- 44:25bourbon. I got a new liver and I'm breaking it in. Excuse me,
- 44:30mister Barker third man, I have a sugar free kinky rail and make
- 44:37it flat. Your bibbles being made buds gold durn it son? What the
- 44:42hell kind of cissy are you? Hey? Are you calling my life partner
- 44:45a sissy because a hundred bucks says he could whoop you an arm wrestling jexis
- 44:50penny it is? Yeah, gol, dang it, i'n't played like a
- 44:57dim which kazoo? Yes, we make a dyn of my team. Huh
- 45:04with your arm and my head? Gonk, we're going right to the top.
- 45:07Whoa, This is one texting who don't like when he's made out to
- 45:12be a fool. Well, what do you like? I don't know?
- 45:15A good book? Long walk on the beach. So we kind of even
- 45:22things up here, not yet, I want to play some frisbee bastely Marge
- 45:27and Bart and they've arrived at the teahouse, but unfortunately it's closed because they
- 45:30had rat droppings in the cakes because they just weren't paying attention. So Bart
- 45:36then sees this and he's like, when just doesn't have to be the end
- 45:38of our little adventure. You come to my treehouse and Marge's taking it back.
- 45:43You're inviting me to your treehouse, And I'm thinking when that happened,
- 45:45I was like, you're right, Marge has never been in the treehouse by
- 45:50invitation. True, But I think mothers would have enough mindfulness to go.
- 45:55That's for the kids go. I mean, you'd stay out of there only
- 45:59in only in case of emergency would you go in. You know, you've
- 46:01got to respect some boundaries in that regard. I was watching this shot though,
- 46:06when she's sitting there with Bart. You had tall marges with her hair
- 46:08and stuff, and she's sort of sitting on her bum and nowhere any touching
- 46:10the roof, And it gave him the idea for a video or an editorial
- 46:15or some kind of the unexplained sort of layout of BArch tree House and the
- 46:21size of this new some weeks to have a yeah, the weird geography of
- 46:25Springfield, Yeah, or just BArch Treehouse in particular. It's just because sometimes
- 46:30there's giant parties with adults, and yeah, some weeks it's been for James
- 46:34Kahn. Sometimes it's too small for yeah anything else. Yeah, but it's
- 46:38like how big is this tree exactly that this treehouse is in. But yeah,
- 46:43for Marges, I'm not quite a fan of how dirty the places.
- 46:45There's some standing water that began as a bowl of cereal and Marches look,
- 46:49I can turn this treehouse into a tea house. Nice play on words there
- 46:52by March I actually like this. She pretends to throw out his comics like
- 46:58you got him. I mean we mentioned on what would have been review the
- 47:01Trust where it was I was the King of the Hill podcast who recently did
- 47:05the Order of the Straight Arrow talking about trust between a father and son.
- 47:07You don't want to play jokes and your kids all the time because I never
- 47:09trust you in the end. But it's okay to occasionally have a little sort
- 47:13of jab here, like marshes I threw out of your comics. Why would
- 47:15you do that since she's just laughing. Pulling pranks is different to sort of
- 47:20having a bit of a joke, you know. So this is just a
- 47:21nice little joke from March here, and then she steals them. In my
- 47:23last so you can never read them again. And I think the younger,
- 47:27the child, the quickie, you've got to let him know. Oh yes,
- 47:31it's like my dad can't let it linger. We mentioned in that podcast
- 47:36that my dad constantly would make these jokes with me growing up to the point
- 47:38Wright has never trust him anymore, and he sometimes makes these jokes of Alliott,
- 47:42and I'm like, no, no, no, I'm like, this
- 47:44kid is for He takes everything literally. He's like, he's like directs from
- 47:51Guardians the Galaxy. He got no sense of irony, no, no grasp
- 47:53of nuance. If you tell him that that nugget he's just eating is actually
- 47:58dinosaur pooh, he will believe you and he won't eat nuggets ever again.
- 48:00So please, sir. Maybe not such a bad thing, but yeah,
- 48:07but if it's the only thing he eats, and to get food, to
- 48:08get poating in him somehow, mister Davis, very good point. But this
- 48:12is where we see Homer and Mode they're leaving for the arm wrestling circuit.
- 48:15How will this affect your job at the plant? Negatively? Ascatively? I
- 48:17assume they mightn't make this joke anymore. To be honest, To be honest,
- 48:23do we ever even see him working at the plant anymore. I forgot
- 48:27it even has a job. It's been a while and they may as well
- 48:30have just like ended his job at the plant. It's given him some other
- 48:32way of making money, whether it be like a worker's comp or something.
- 48:35Just don't worry about that job anymore, you know. Yeah, this kind
- 48:38of felt like the instance where the air sort of came out of the tires
- 48:43when there's like, don't you have a job? Yeah? I mean you're
- 48:47not even coming with ways to sort of work around it anymore. It's just
- 48:51like, yeah, I don't go to work an him. I wonder if,
- 48:54ah see, there's pros and kinds of this idea, but I wonder
- 48:57if, like, to say, season thirteen that has went all right,
- 49:00an accident happens at the power plant and Homer gets workers where it gets paid
- 49:02a weekly amount of money. He doesn't get it all in one lump sum.
- 49:06He gets it paid weekly or whatever, right, so the family can
- 49:07live. But then would the viewer not be able to relate to Homer because
- 49:12you need to have him, but he's not working anyway. Though, So
- 49:15the idea of like Homer being relatable is that he was like a middle class
- 49:17He had a dead end job, and he was relatable because seventy people feel
- 49:21like their job's a dead end job. It's like, oh, you know,
- 49:22he's pain, you're working to pay the bills. But if you never
- 49:24actually see him at the plant, what's the point in having it in the
- 49:27first place. He might as well of just having living as workers company.
- 49:30At least that would make sense as to why he's able to go on adventures
- 49:32all the time. It makes sense. Yeah, I mean, I don't
- 49:36know. Maybe after seventeen seasons, the idea of, yeah, following Homer
- 49:39to work again, it's like, oh, yeah, that's a bit dull.
- 49:43Yeah, I mean, but I'm not coming up with the story ideas
- 49:45that are work related. Can't be that hard, surely, and or coming
- 49:52up with ways to sort of fold the side hustle into Homer's everyday life that
- 49:57includes his job. That would be far too much worse. Like it just
- 50:00don't have him, just have him not do that job anymore. It would
- 50:02just make far more since he's living off workers. In my opinion, this
- 50:06would have been far easier. I get where you're coming from, because I
- 50:09think a lot of people's disdain for the Homer character in these later teen seasons
- 50:14came as results like how is he like? And just the writing in general?
- 50:19How was he able to do all these things when he's supposed to have
- 50:21a job, you know, because in the earlier seasons it wasn't very often
- 50:24he was off doing something that would forever take him away from his job.
- 50:28Might say that though there was a lot of side hustles, but they were
- 50:31side hustles. They weren't really taking him away from his job for long periods
- 50:36of time. Oh no, I mean he did go to space. That's
- 50:39a pretty big anyway, enough thought about it. But that's that's another story.
- 50:43That's another article or video we can do in the future. But how
- 50:46should Homer's character have been handled his job? But yeah, so she leaves
- 50:51Margins and bothered by it at all, and Home is concerned that she didn't
- 50:53care because she's happy now, she's content, she's got her son, she's
- 50:57got a friend to hang out with with. Homer's gonna be a friend in
- 50:59him, but it's going to be a friend. And Mo says, don't
- 51:01worry about it. You know, he's just thinking about himself. Let's go
- 51:04make some money. So we're now at the mall where the bathrooms are no
- 51:07longer at the end of a weird hallway. Why is that? I was
- 51:09thinking about that today. Actually, why do you always have to go down
- 51:12it's really weird and dingy, smelly hallway to get to the bathrooms to the
- 51:15toilets. I just think you want to keep the toilets as far away from
- 51:20the place of commerce as possible. That's actually a very good answer. Do
- 51:22you want the smell to be as far away from possible? Yeah? That
- 51:25is correct. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Thank you for answering that
- 51:29question for me. There you go, Dan, that's some planning advice for
- 51:34you, my man. I feel it's gonna be a feud here, guy
- 51:37versus Dan. I'm looking forward to it. But margin buy have bought a
- 51:40new T set Crusty Brand tea set from the China Syndrome. Marge is accidentally
- 51:45taking a salesman pen, so while she goes into return the pen to the
- 51:46salesman, but runs through the various crusty teapots sayings, I like that,
- 51:51what's this? I'm not doing that one learn from a professional kid, Yeah,
- 51:58the bulleys and make fun of him. Hey Simpson, what are you
- 52:01gonna do with that teapot? Gay y'all, I'll answer for you. Yes,
- 52:06what um uh? I just shoplifted this bad boy housewears never knew what
- 52:12hit him. One is still something cool because I'm gonna bring it back to
- 52:16the store for store credit. He are you gonna get credit without a gift
- 52:21re seat? Ass um, Well, we've seen your hanging out with your
- 52:24mom, Simpson. Word on the street is you're a mama's boy. There
- 52:31is no way that Bart Simpson is a mama's boy. Oh but aren't they
- 52:37jazzy? They match the new curtains we hung in your treehouse. He'll tryers
- 52:42on. I got your child's large because your tummy's getting kind of bloopy from
- 52:45all the cakes weep been having. Somebody here likes princess cakes. Princess cake,
- 52:52Bart, you just got yourself a nickname for life. Hey, Princess's
- 52:57cake. Want some princess cake? Are you having a fight with your boyfriends?
- 53:02Shut up? I don't want your stupid sweatshirt or your tea set lashing
- 53:08votes my warranty. I have a good life. Mom. I only hung
- 53:12out with you because I felt sorry for you that was weird. But this
- 53:19whole moment here, as I said, I thought it was quite believable in
- 53:22the sense that Bart's lashing out at Marge because he's doing all he can to
- 53:24keep his image, because he images everything. When you're a kid, your
- 53:28brand, as they talk about it in south Park recently, you can have
- 53:30your brand, and his brand is sort of like the bad boy of the
- 53:35fourth grade. And these bulleys are going to ruin. Actually, they spread
- 53:37the rumors about the princess cake. So he he lashes out at Marge and
- 53:40he says he only hung out with her because he felt sorry, which is
- 53:44true to an extent. It is, but you never say you never say
- 53:47that to anybody. No, you never say that. But like, he
- 53:51didn't only hang out with her because he felt sorry, maybe initially, but
- 53:53in the end he realized he'd liked hanging out with March. That was the
- 53:55thing, and that's why he was doing what he is now. He just
- 53:59sort of it was he was enjoying it too much, that I guess.
- 54:00But the bully's then ask Marge once he leaves if they can be taught how
- 54:05to smoke, and she says, no, you think they'd know how to
- 54:07smoke by now, I'm pretty sure you would assume. So. Yeah,
- 54:09So we come back and Barter is tearing down his treehouse all the all the
- 54:14new changes that Marge made, including fixing the booger wall and things like that.
- 54:16Back at my old place of work, I won't name any names,
- 54:20but we had the booger bandit. We referred to them as in the office
- 54:23where in the male's toilets there was just this boogers that would appear on the
- 54:28wall next to it. So the obviously this person would sit down and wipe
- 54:30their booger on the wall, and the cleaner would clean it. And you
- 54:32go out the next day and there to be boogers on the wall again.
- 54:36Oh my god. We never found out who the booger bandit was. It
- 54:38was a weird one. I had my suspicion. Lisa is concerned. She
- 54:45goes to see Bart. She looked, I'm really worried about mum. She's
- 54:47just been sitting there for two hours, petting the dog and not letting him
- 54:50leave, just just patting him, patting him, patting him. And Margining
- 54:52goes for a bike ride. We get the weird montage. But you said
- 54:55this was a Midnight Cowboys, which part of this was the bidnight Cowboy reference,
- 55:00just the vibe of it. Yeah, it's sort of closer to the
- 55:04end when, Yeah, things aren't going well for our two main characters at
- 55:08Midnight Cowboy. You know, one of them is getting very sick. Neither
- 55:10of them got any money. Life in New York City is just hard.
- 55:15So they decided to board a bus to Miami. Okay, but there you
- 55:17go. So he's got the bucket of fish hats tipped on her head.
- 55:20She sees the billboard for hugging your mother. She uses the basket from the
- 55:22bike in a barrel. I'm like, why is why is there a fire
- 55:24at a barrel? What he's going on in your baka makes sense with there
- 55:28going for that parody. Margers said to Bart that she sold the bike to
- 55:30the police. Go for a ride down the hill, and Bart tries to
- 55:36apologize. You know, I didn't mean I was I was just no,
- 55:37it was just caught up in the moment. So he suggests they do the
- 55:39karaoke night at the school. We never had this at our school. We
- 55:44never had a parent child event at school. The parents were never involved.
- 55:47The parents were part of the crowd and that's it when he came to school.
- 55:51Yes, personally, I'm all for that. I think there should be
- 55:55a separation of church and state when it comes to that kind of deal.
- 55:59Yeah, I don't think your parents should be involved in your school activities.
- 56:02They should witness them, they should not be part of them. The sort
- 56:06of this doesn't has nothing to do with um with school. But I remember
- 56:12when we used to go to the Geelong Show. My daddy is a hunter,
- 56:14right, likes you know, shoots his guns and the hunts rabbits and
- 56:15foxes and things like that, which I know you don't like hunting foxes,
- 56:19but you know he hunt because they killed the lambs and things like that for
- 56:21the farmers. But when you go to the Gelong Show. So speaking of
- 56:23carnivals earlier at the pier, and that one thing my dad was always the
- 56:28best at was the shooting the ducks, you know the duck game, right,
- 56:31but he would do is he'd buy it. He'd buy a set,
- 56:34right, buire the gun, work out how they've tweaked it, and then
- 56:37do another lot and go bang bang bang bang bang bang. It just get
- 56:40like perfect scores every time. So that's one thing my dad was like my
- 56:45dad and I always good at I was like, all right, Dad,
- 56:46I want that toy. He's like, all right, son, you're going
- 56:51to get it, buddy. Like you'd be like all right, he goes,
- 56:54and then the next guy would come. My dad used to always take
- 56:57great joy and go and shoots to the left as an experson to get into
- 57:01us, like, yeah, I worp this one out, heads up,
- 57:05aimed to the right, and but this thing, though, every gun had
- 57:09its own thing. One shot too high, one shot two fights to the
- 57:12left, and like once my dad had worked it out, it was just
- 57:14like you could never miss, basically. But every one when you know the
- 57:17games are talking about right with a ducks goalong the yeah, yeah, yes,
- 57:21yes, So I know they still do it because you're firing a weapon.
- 57:23Not sure if they're still allowed to do that. But my dad thought
- 57:25the first time he missed a few second time he just never missed. You
- 57:30just see the car and he's just like shite legend. But we're now at
- 57:36the arm Wrestling Championships. Marge still has not called Homer, pretends that she
- 57:39has. He says, don't worry about it. Get your head in the
- 57:42game. The first matches against Lefty the Right, he left Right. He's
- 57:45only lost once when he had a fight against the literacy. Homer too has
- 57:47lost that battle. Yes, and Homer then calls Marge during the fight.
- 57:51We pan out when we were revealed that he's actually midfight. When he's calling
- 57:54Marge and she's still answering, I'm like, what is the point of this?
- 57:58Doesn't make any sense? Well, this is the championship. The prize
- 58:01money is fifty dollars, so how are you going to be making money from
- 58:05this moment? Doesn't make any You're not making money because you have to pay
- 58:07fifty dollars to enter and if you win, you getting your money back.
- 58:10So why are we doing this? Oh? Well, they're not They're not
- 58:14the sharpest tool your own psych gags are killing the story, but most of
- 58:20He wants to make it to the quarterfinals of the East Division Class B over
- 58:22thirty five amateur grouping, but Home is not interested, so he starts heading
- 58:24home. We're now at the drunk paralegal karaoke supplier and March is choosing a
- 58:30song to sing as a duet with Bart and Skinner. Claims Ebony and ivory,
- 58:36because that's what he and Agnes always sing, or, as people refer
- 58:38to it, scary oke, scary talent. Adays, I'm singing a song
- 58:44with Bart tonight Capitol. My mother and I have been performing together since I
- 58:47was in fourth grade, and it's really brought us closer. Say more,
- 58:51where were you? A brightly colored car? Hurt my eyes? Don't worry,
- 58:55mother, I am your eyebomb and my man birds right here. Good
- 59:00boy, you can push your crib into mummy's room tonight. It's not a
- 59:04crib, it's a cut. If it has rails, it's a crab.
- 59:10She says, you can push your crib into mummy's room tonight. And I
- 59:13was like, that's this one step over a creepy. Yeah, it's and
- 59:16stupid. It's guys, we get it, Yeah, we get it.
- 59:22What the I cream would have been enough? You didn't need to push the
- 59:24crib into mummy's room. I was like, it's a cut. So now
- 59:29I have the karaoke night where people get the chance to butcher their favorites,
- 59:31and we have a Pooh getting quite overwhelmed singing where all the Cowboys Gone?
- 59:36Is that what it's called? Were the Cowboys? Gone it is yeah big
- 59:39in the early two thousands, m I think the woman who sang the Dawson's
- 59:45Craig theme song, I think sang that one. I don't want to wait
- 59:49for minute. There's something nostalgic about that song. For me, there is.
- 59:53I don't know if I started singing I don't want to wait for my
- 59:57life to be over in Cartman voice or Cartman di around the episode of South
- 1:00:00Buck but where whenever I sing him, that's how I sing it. The
- 1:00:09encartment voice is better though, makes it twice it really, I'm just gotta
- 1:00:14here. This was no. That song was released ninety six by Paula Cole.
- 1:00:17Well, yeah, but it is the same woman, Paula Cole.
- 1:00:20It is the same woman. Yes, yeah, but but she's saying,
- 1:00:22she's saying when of Dulin's critics was ninety eight, I reckon, don't you?
- 1:00:25I think so? Yeah? It's okay, very late nineties, early
- 1:00:30two thousands to stall you when we me. It says here that she gained
- 1:00:37attentions for her performance as a vocalist. I'm Peter Gabriel's nineteen ninety three to
- 1:00:39nineteen ninety four Secret World Tour. She released her first album as a result,
- 1:00:44Peter and Paula nice. Yes, just need Mary. Where is my
- 1:00:52Childwen? Where he is my prairies? Where is my ha be? Indeed,
- 1:01:02God, God, good dude, do do do do? Do?
- 1:01:07Do do do? What? What do you think of a poosing it?
- 1:01:13It just sort of felt like absolute filler. I guess I sort of I
- 1:01:16guess I was. I was emphasizing how lame this night is though, isn't
- 1:01:20it. I think it's like, yeah, it felt It's like you feel
- 1:01:23like a gag. You feel like you're meant this feels like it's meant to
- 1:01:28be you know, a bit, but it's not working. Why is it
- 1:01:31the case? You know, he's really sort of going for it, and
- 1:01:35you know, the audience like we're not buying this up open. I don't
- 1:01:38know, Yeah, but just it felt uncomfortable more than funny. The margin
- 1:01:45bart are all dressed up for their for their show, but it's a big
- 1:01:47fan of his, Tinklis, and he's referring to her as mother. I
- 1:01:51think he caught a mother earlier in the episode as well. He did plenty
- 1:01:53of mum mother. Just it's just it's not weird, but it's just like
- 1:01:59it's it's my I only do it to take the piss. Yeah, mother,
- 1:02:01dear mother, Hello mother, Hello, Hello, Hello, mother.
- 1:02:07Might even have to you're a good buddy. Bat a Skinner and Agnes are
- 1:02:15here and they start singing their their evany in Ivory, and Wush envisions her
- 1:02:21and Bart being in the same position in a few years from now. She
- 1:02:22says, stop the show. She's just a bart. Don't call me mother,
- 1:02:27And she said, my son has no mumma's boy. Don't want you
- 1:02:29to turn into that. What a wall. And she says, you know
- 1:02:34your job is to give me things to worry about. So she rubs up
- 1:02:37his hair and she gives them the fire extimulature and he shoots people the fires
- 1:02:39from her skinner in the crowd and whatnot, and she laughed at him,
- 1:02:43saying, die die die. Was he okay? S Marge is now at
- 1:02:49home singing Sweet at Home Alabama by herself. But she has a smile on
- 1:02:52her face, which she's seeing it at this time because she's sort of remembering
- 1:02:54by her and Bart their pals. Now she doesn't need Bart there to sing
- 1:02:59it. She's like she's it's almost like she's content now with where they're at
- 1:03:01as a mother and mother and son duo. Yeah, but Homer arrives to
- 1:03:06sing the song with her, but he arrives with the trophy. I was
- 1:03:08like, he left mid first match, how does he have a trophy?
- 1:03:12Yeah, that's a good point. I mean, I know his arm was
- 1:03:15so strong that he's able to beat left in mcwrites and or writes MC left
- 1:03:17and or wader whe the hell his name was? But yeah, he shouldn't
- 1:03:20have got a trophy out of that. No, and didn't. The trophy
- 1:03:22didn't really add much to anything. No. The thing is, he talks
- 1:03:25about how he won a pied he contest on the way home, and I'm
- 1:03:29like, why didn't you just make the trophy the pied in contest trophy.
- 1:03:32But they go to bed, they get the bullies because they mentioned earlier that
- 1:03:36the bullies they wanted to see my Sharona. So they end up seeing my
- 1:03:37Sharona on the front lawn. Hommer throws the trophy at him and says that
- 1:03:40that's a pop music footnote, which is not true. My Sharona is a
- 1:03:45well, I suppose a bit of a foot No. No, I don't
- 1:03:47think the knack who sang my Sharona or ever went much further than My Sharona,
- 1:03:52but still a bit of a classic song. It's a classic song,
- 1:03:55but I've sort of put it in the same sort of level as Oh,
- 1:03:59Mickey, You're so fun, just so fun Mickey. Everyone knows that everyone
- 1:04:02enjoys it. You played at every wedding, that's true. But yeah,
- 1:04:05the Knack aren't going to be put into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
- 1:04:10That plus, you know, watching this with the subtitles on, you
- 1:04:14realize, oh, wait a minute, creepy song, pretty one. He
- 1:04:20always gives it up for the touch of the younger kind, is like,
- 1:04:24who was singing? This is Gary Glitter Death? And then the stairs?
- 1:04:29But that is our review of Marge's son Poisoning, all right. So yeah,
- 1:04:32overall it's um no table. So I really I enjoyed the Marge bart
- 1:04:36story. The Homer story didn't annoy me. It was just seemed pointless because
- 1:04:40when as soon as he got there it was over, I was like,
- 1:04:42what was the balls the point in the first place? Just to kill some
- 1:04:44time, I guess. But I warmed up to it a little, mainly
- 1:04:47because of just the warmthy you were giving off, Dan just you live to
- 1:04:51give and I did a little bit of receiving this time around. So okay,
- 1:04:57good for you. What do we learn Bomber? What did you learn
- 1:05:00from this episode? Mister Davis? Um that I well that if you that
- 1:05:06if you smash the crusty Bann teapot you have, would avoided the warranty you
- 1:05:11have. Indeed, I've learned that whenever I go to a high tea,
- 1:05:14make sure I'll look out for those rat droppings, just in case they weren't
- 1:05:16paying attention. From knee forward, your name droll me. All right,
- 1:05:21it's time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship. The current leader board stands
- 1:05:27at this in first position, we have Luke McKay. Now, actually we
- 1:05:30had a bit of controversy last week. Luke messaged me, so Ryan done,
- 1:05:35that was given the two points and the last guy that was New Name
- 1:05:38Championship it was actually going to Luke McKay. Luke says, Luke, I
- 1:05:40don't want to be that that person, but just let you know that the
- 1:05:44person you gave two points too didn't actually come up with the three that you
- 1:05:46read out. So they had a similar idea a name for the first segment
- 1:05:49and the next two were different. I just read the first name. It
- 1:05:53was the Treas of Horror. The two points actually last week didn't go to
- 1:05:56Ryan done that unfortunately, apologies Ryan, They went to Luke McKay. So
- 1:05:59Luke mcca is in first position on eight points, Nora Coker in second on
- 1:06:02five points, and in third position we have Garrowed Harrowhill on three points.
- 1:06:05So it was Ryan nun Lap. Just just rub it in a little bit
- 1:06:11more extra all right, what were the notable mentions this week? A couple
- 1:06:15of notable mentions before we get to the points. How I met my mother?
- 1:06:18That goes to Luke McKay. So Luke McKay's notable mentions this week,
- 1:06:23Hey and mom, I'd like to follow what's your thirty three fifty men?
- 1:06:28Heath? That will be all right. One point goes to Nope the top.
- 1:06:36Oh, he's no longer n Lap. That's Ryan dune Lap with the
- 1:06:39one point this week, Ryan, well done Lap. Yeah, a nice
- 1:06:44play on the Sylvester stallone arm wrestling movie. Over the top. Two points
- 1:06:48go to Tea Bartie. Tea Bartie is by Adam Woolhouse. I believe that
- 1:06:55is Adam's first points on the leaderboard this season. So what on, Adam,
- 1:06:59You're now in the wild card draw if you do not win this season.
- 1:07:01So Adam Wollhouse with the two points there on on Woolhouse in the house
- 1:07:05and three points for a nice bit of word play quality. That's tea time
- 1:07:13quality time. I really like that, and that's really good. That is
- 1:07:15by David Mott. Also their first points for this season. So well done.
- 1:07:19Some newbies here on the Guy Davis New Name Championship. I'm a fan
- 1:07:23indeed turned down for Mott. So current leaderboard stands at this now in third
- 1:07:30position, we have a three way tie all on three points. Good harrow
- 1:07:31Hill turned down for Matt, David Mott and Ryan Nunlap on three points.
- 1:07:36In second position. We have Nora Coca still on five and still in first
- 1:07:40position, Luke McKay on the eight points. Remember to be part of it.
- 1:07:44Just going to be a part of the Patreon Facebook group, to be
- 1:07:46part of the Guy Davis New Name Championship. Now, mister Davis, it's
- 1:07:49time for some mail bag for Marge's son poisoning. Yeah, Demail is here
- 1:07:57all right. First one here comes from turned down for Mott David says,
- 1:08:00what's your go to karaoke song? Mine is actually Ring of Fire by Johnny
- 1:08:05Cash. I can pull off a not had not half bad Johnny Cash.
- 1:08:10So that's one that I like to do, although it's a little it was
- 1:08:15almost a little too mellow. I'm trying to give a one. I did
- 1:08:18Tumbling Dice by the Stone, Yeah, and was told that it wasn't too
- 1:08:23bad, so I wasn't told to get off the stage, So I'll take
- 1:08:27that. What do you think mine is? And I once bolted this out
- 1:08:30at the Chinese Place on Yarrow Street here in Geelong, the karaoke place,
- 1:08:33and got a standing, got a standing ovation. We've talked about this about
- 1:08:38I wouldn't say was something about the Gunners. No, no, you're thinking
- 1:08:41of the one that was Proud Mary. I did Proud Mary once and also
- 1:08:43got a standing. Ova shad fucking forty year old women that forty women are
- 1:08:46dancing on their tables at that one. But what do you think is my
- 1:08:50go to? I'll just tell you my go to is Sweet Transvestite from Rocky
- 1:08:54Horror. Oh fucking love that song. No, just you got to commit.
- 1:09:00Yeah, that's a good one. Tim Curry just you can't imagine anyone
- 1:09:02else but Tim Cary playing that role, and he played the role. He
- 1:09:05played the role on the stage Shaw before the movie even came out, Like
- 1:09:09he just was Frankin further very much. So yeah, and I mean now
- 1:09:13it seems like every every soap star in the world when they want to branch
- 1:09:16out into a bit of a bit of theater stuff, was like, we're
- 1:09:19gonna play Franken for that'll be fun. I'm sometimes it backfires, like it
- 1:09:24does with Craig McLaughlin. So this one's from Glenn Gomez. Oh, I
- 1:09:30think this one might be for me. What do you see doing together with
- 1:09:31your kids? Well, you've got Louise's that's true, Louisa's children do things
- 1:09:40with them, um when it comes to avoid each other. I'm just looking
- 1:09:45forward to just thing things like playing video games with Eliott to the point where
- 1:09:47like it's actually like a challenge, you know, where like you don't have
- 1:09:50to sort of pretend to lose, because Alice saw at that age where like
- 1:09:55he doesn't like to occasionally I all beat him, just keep things interesting,
- 1:09:58but you have to sort of like make an effort to lose when you're doing
- 1:10:00car racing games and things like that. I'm looking forward to sort of playing
- 1:10:03games against him where it's an actual challenge and I'm like trying to beat him.
- 1:10:08But that's the day where I realized I can't beat him anymore. That's
- 1:10:11a day you've aised your lights over. I think it's like the day you
- 1:10:14realize that your son can beat you up. When it's just like oh Man
- 1:10:17getting the grave. Andrew J. P says two part question, what's your
- 1:10:23favorite Rusty tie in product? The pregnancy test? I thought that was two
- 1:10:30pac question, like what about two packs? Um, I think I'm just
- 1:10:34passed with a Rusty Burger. I love that he's got his own franchise.
- 1:10:39Yeah, yeah, I think that. Yeah, Grusty Burger, I'm all
- 1:10:42for it. An actual fast food rush chains pretty cool. Yeah. And
- 1:10:45favorite TV shows slash movies slash celebrity tie in product. He likes licensed video
- 1:10:49games of movies. A lot of them awful, but there's also a few
- 1:10:51good ones. Well. It sort of times this times into this episode in
- 1:10:57some way because I think I've told this story in the past. But when
- 1:11:00I was about fourteen years old at school, forgotten my lunch and Mum rocked
- 1:11:04up with my with a very lovingly prepared lunch. You know, I've got
- 1:11:08a nice sandwich in there, bottle of something or a can or something.
- 1:11:12But it was in my old six million dollar Man lunch buns and Mum actually
- 1:11:18you know, found the classroom that I was in. Go you forgot your
- 1:11:21lunch. It's in your lunch box. Six million Dollar Man had been off
- 1:11:26the air for quite some time. You know, he didn't even write his
- 1:11:30own episodes, honestly, God, it was very much just the class turned
- 1:11:36in Unison just pointing at me. Oh man, I know. It was
- 1:11:42one of those kind of things where it's like, mom, lunch boxes are
- 1:11:45very cool. Though. I think when you're a kid like Elliott's age,
- 1:11:47maybe the way like your fashion statement is your school bag, Like what brands
- 1:11:53school bag have you got? It's got his light in McQueen one and he's
- 1:11:56got his Tressy park one. It's like I've got the fucking course, I've
- 1:11:59got the who's got the cool bag? It's me? It's me. You
- 1:12:00don't you don't have to tell me. I know, I know it's very
- 1:12:04important for Elliott to what is on his drink bottle. The drink bottle is
- 1:12:09a big deal for Alliot at the moment, Like what is his poor patrol
- 1:12:13drink bottle? Is it the drassy park because the water tastes different from each
- 1:12:15bottle, you know, like at bedtime it's going to be this one because
- 1:12:17you can't be drinking water out of the dressy part room bottle at night time.
- 1:12:19It just doesn't fly. It's got to be at the port patrol drink
- 1:12:21bottle, different times a day, different tastes of water. All right,
- 1:12:27a couple more, Jake McFarlane, did you have a favorite activity you enjoyed
- 1:12:31doing with your mum growing up or even today? When I was a kid,
- 1:12:36I just enjoyed going to the movies with my mum. It was just
- 1:12:39sort of, you know, my sister will stay home with my dad,
- 1:12:41would go see a movie. I specifically remember my mum taking me to see
- 1:12:44Space Jam and yeah, it's just memory. It's always just yeah, it's
- 1:12:46just the most random, obscure memories to stick with you for some reason.
- 1:12:49And mum taking me to see Space Jam and getting my Space Jam cup.
- 1:12:53Speaking of tie in proces, I've always been a sucker for the tie in
- 1:12:56movie related cups at the cinema. Yeah, I've still got my space because
- 1:13:00the space sham one had had obviously the characters and she's on the actual cut,
- 1:13:03but it had a dome on top with a piece of cardboard in the
- 1:13:05middle with a little tabs on each side that you can flick a little basketball
- 1:13:10through to each side. So it was like, my god, mini basketball
- 1:13:13game. Yeah, it was. It was really cool. Um. Yeah,
- 1:13:15going to see the movies that my mum was always fun. What about
- 1:13:17you. I have a similar movie related memory with my mum, And I
- 1:13:20was talking about this with her the other day because we saw like a Pink
- 1:13:25Panther double feature. You know, it's just her and I and I just
- 1:13:29remember that my and my mom is not a unhumorous person. She know,
- 1:13:34she liked a good laugh, but I don't think I've ever seen slash heard
- 1:13:38her laugh quite as much as during these Pink Panther movies where you know,
- 1:13:42Peter Sells just you know, falling over and making absolute goose of himself.
- 1:13:45She was probably on the verge of pissing herself because she was just enjoying it
- 1:13:49that much. And it's just a very, very fond memory for me.
- 1:13:53For me similar to like that was. I was like raised on the Muppet
- 1:13:58Show, right. I loved the Muppet Show on one and my nan used
- 1:14:00always tape it for me. And she's to work at this place called Grosby
- 1:14:03Footwear. Do you remember Grosby's in Geelong? Yeah, they're great mate.
- 1:14:08Yeah, Yeah, she used to work there, Bubby Dog, they're a
- 1:14:11great mate. Yeah. And yes, before she used to go to work
- 1:14:15at six o'clock in the morning, she'd push record on Channel ten and tape
- 1:14:16the Muppet reruns used to air in the early nineties for me when I was
- 1:14:19a kid, I said, always watch Themupets at NaN's place. And there
- 1:14:21was one segment and because my name's my family really not me, in particularly
- 1:14:26my whole family, they love country western music, country music, right,
- 1:14:29And the guest star was Lauretta Lynn at the time, and she was singing
- 1:14:31a song called Ones on the Way and had the Muppet babies like these little
- 1:14:34baby, ugly little baby looking things on the Muppets and they're singing the song
- 1:14:39with her. Asked me, every time my name watched that, she just
- 1:14:42burst out laughing. I've never seen my name laugh as much as what she
- 1:14:44did when she used to watch that segment. I know what it was about
- 1:14:45that segment, but she just loved it. So whenever now I hear I
- 1:14:48watched that segment, I remember when Nan passed away back in twenty twenty,
- 1:14:53the Muppet Show wasn't it went on to Disney Plus long after that, and
- 1:14:57I put that segment on and it just made me smile. I'm just like,
- 1:14:59this remind Nan being happy, you know. So that's that's nice that
- 1:15:02he sort of had memories like that. But it's good. But final question
- 1:15:05here is from Ryan King, and he says this is more of an anecdote
- 1:15:10to than a question. Okay, so it's n He says he's twenty five
- 1:15:13and he still lives at home with his parents. He and his mum always
- 1:15:15have their regular movie nights together. They started with him introducing her to the
- 1:15:18horror genre, then watching all the great cinema classics. They're currently working their
- 1:15:24way through the Last of Us series because they played the game together. Do
- 1:15:27you have any activities that you do with you Okay, so it's the same
- 1:15:30kind of thing, but do you have any activities that you do now with
- 1:15:30your mother? Doc? Do you do you still do anything with your mum.
- 1:15:36My activity. My activity is mom, can you babysit the kids?
- 1:15:41Mine is I go over and I'd tolerate mums, sort of recounting sky News
- 1:15:46talking point not sky News. Yeah, he's got a bit radicalized old Margaret
- 1:15:51Mary, and you're not Wogaya. Who's that fact dude that resembles the dude
- 1:15:57from the Simpsons, the one it was just far right. He's he's at
- 1:16:00night News. He's like the post you're talking about. Oh is it Paul
- 1:16:04Murray? It's Paul Murray, that dickhead. I remember I met him ages
- 1:16:10ago when I was writing about TV there was a Foxtel sort of junket and
- 1:16:14met him and interviewed him, and he seemed he seemed like a really nice
- 1:16:16guy, which is a shame. I think a lot of them just they
- 1:16:19know what gets makes them money and they just play it up. I think.
- 1:16:23So, I really think that is the case, and that's that's a
- 1:16:26little bit there, that you've got to be sort of that kind of cynical
- 1:16:29and you know, maybe you sort of believe what you're talking about, but
- 1:16:32you don't. You have to amplify it by you know, you're gonna push
- 1:16:35it up to eleven just to cut through. By the way, it was
- 1:16:39Birch Barlows, the guy from The Simpsons to take off of Rush Limbo.
- 1:16:42Ah. Yeah, yeah, all right, that is Marge's son poisoning.
- 1:16:45Hope you guys enjoyed our review. The next episode we are reviewing here from
- 1:16:47season seventeen will be ce Homer Run. But we have some exciting exclusives coming
- 1:16:51to our Patreon in the coming weeks and eventually you'll hear these on the free
