- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh come on, uh huh, I sure will A good
- 0:08Speaker 1: morning everybody. You are listening to the voice, Come on now,
- 0:13Speaker 1: digney if you will. One and only, Steve Harvey got
- 0:17Speaker 1: a radio show, you know, one of the things about
- 0:22Speaker 1: being successful. And I was sharing this just the other
- 0:25Speaker 1: day with a young man and he asked me. He said, hey, man,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I just don't see how you get up that early
- 0:34Speaker 1: in the morning. I just don't see how, man, it
- 0:37Speaker 1: would kill me to get up this.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Early in the morning.
- 0:40Speaker 1: Well, I sat down and I'm listening to it because
- 0:42Speaker 1: it's just a thousand times I've heard it, you know,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and my life is, you know, not too different from
- 0:48Speaker 1: a lot of people's lives.
- 0:49Speaker 2: There's a lot of people out there.
- 0:51Speaker 1: That rise early, and I just sit there, man, because
- 0:55Speaker 1: I mean, first of all, I'm grateful to be able
- 0:57Speaker 1: to have a job. I'm so grateful to be able
- 0:59Speaker 1: to do one and several that I happen to enjoy doing.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I mean, you know, it's work, and it's difficult at times,
- 1:06Speaker 1: but I mean, you know I wanted this. You know
- 1:08Speaker 1: you got it. You know you can't ask God for nothing,
- 1:11Speaker 1: any give it to you then be mad that you
- 1:12Speaker 1: got it. Don't make no sense.
- 1:14Speaker 2: You know. The problem with asking God for stuff is a.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Lot of times we ask it for stuff we don't
- 1:19Speaker 1: really know what all it encompasses, what all it really is.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And I ask for this. Now along the way, I've
- 1:25Speaker 1: gotten far more than I asked for. I want you
- 1:28Speaker 1: to do. Understand that, and you know that's His grace
- 1:32Speaker 1: at work in my life. But I get up early
- 1:34Speaker 1: and I go to work because I do understand something
- 1:37Speaker 1: that it is not walking up to you. Nobody walks
- 1:41Speaker 1: up to people normally and just hand them checks all
- 1:44Speaker 1: the time, and enough checks to sustain your life, and
- 1:48Speaker 1: not only sustain it, but to have a life that
- 1:50Speaker 1: where you could enjoy and do some of the things
- 1:53Speaker 1: you want to do. I don't know the person that
- 1:55Speaker 1: walks out hands out that money just to be doing it.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And then with a lifestyle though, well, you can you know,
- 2:02Speaker 1: give your kids a Christmas, you know, take your family
- 2:04Speaker 1: on vacation, you know, a year once a year. I
- 2:07Speaker 1: don't know nobody passing out to kind of money. So
- 2:09Speaker 1: I get up early in the morning and I get
- 2:10Speaker 1: at it. I was taught to get up early in
- 2:14Speaker 1: the morning by my father because my father says aint
- 2:18Speaker 1: nothing gonna come to you while you laying now. And
- 2:21Speaker 1: you know what, it's just true, man, it's just a
- 2:23Speaker 1: little common sense. Little old people smart man. They've been
- 2:26Speaker 1: around a long time. You don't get you know, some
- 2:28Speaker 1: old foods out there, but you know you don't have
- 2:30Speaker 1: to deal with them. But old people are pretty smart, man.
- 2:33Speaker 1: They've learned a lot along the way. And waking up
- 2:35Speaker 1: early and getting at it is one of them things.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And I ask everybody man to think about this scenario
- 2:40Speaker 1: of your life. If a day has twenty four hours
- 2:43Speaker 1: in it, and let's just say you choose to sleep
- 2:47Speaker 1: eight of those hours because they tell you you need
- 2:51Speaker 1: eight hours sleep, so you sleep eight hours. That's a
- 2:55Speaker 1: third of your life asleep already, Just a third of
- 2:59Speaker 1: your life is spent a sleep.
- 3:01Speaker 2: If you gonna do eight hours a day.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Now, let's say you have a job that you work
- 3:06Speaker 1: eight hours and it is not the job of your dreams.
- 3:09Speaker 1: It's not your dream career, your dream profession. It's just
- 3:12Speaker 1: the one you took, like all of us, to get
- 3:14Speaker 1: it started. And then, like all of us, some of
- 3:17Speaker 1: us end up having to state at because we've created
- 3:19Speaker 1: these bills, because we checked and checked so we can't
- 3:22Speaker 1: leave it because we'll lose what we've worked for. So
- 3:25Speaker 1: let's just say you got a job that you go
- 3:27Speaker 1: to work to for eight hours. That's another third of
- 3:30Speaker 1: your life. That's two thirds of your life. Feel how
- 3:33Speaker 1: you want to feel about your two thirds? Well, I
- 3:36Speaker 1: like sleep. Okay, cool, there's a scripture about that too.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But now you spent two thirds of your life, one
- 3:41Speaker 1: on a job you don't care for if you're not
- 3:43Speaker 1: happy there, or one that just pays the bills and
- 3:45Speaker 1: it's not your dream job or career. Another third of
- 3:47Speaker 1: your life is sleep. Oh now, let's hold on. Let's
- 3:50Speaker 1: talk about the one hour of preparation that it may
- 3:53Speaker 1: take to get to the job. That's seventeen hours. Let's
- 3:57Speaker 1: say your drive time, let's say getting to your job
- 4:00Speaker 1: for the average person is anywhere between thirty to an hour.
- 4:04Speaker 1: That's an average of what it takes to average person. Now,
- 4:07Speaker 1: some people out there hustling way harder than that. But
- 4:09Speaker 1: let's just say your average is an hour getting to work.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You add another hour to that going to work. You've
- 4:15Speaker 1: now spent eighteen hours out of the twenty four doing
- 4:21Speaker 1: something that's either nonproductive, you're not happy with you're not
- 4:25Speaker 1: pleased about. It is not your dream job, it's not
- 4:28Speaker 1: your dream profession. And rest of the time you sleep
- 4:30Speaker 1: eighteen hours. Now you got to come from the job,
- 4:33Speaker 1: so let's just say it's another hour to get back home.
- 4:35Speaker 1: That's nineteen hours. Nineteen hours out of a twenty four
- 4:38Speaker 1: hour day. You now have five hours left in your day.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Oh you watch TV two hours a day. Okay, excuse me.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Let's put now you put two hours of TV on
- 4:47Speaker 1: that you've just spent twenty one.
- 4:49Speaker 2: You now have three.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Hours in the day to do something super productive for
- 4:56Speaker 1: the development of yourself and the future of your family,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and your future as a person and what you can
- 5:02Speaker 1: provide for your family. Uh Oh, I need to chill.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I need to smoke one. Uh Oh, I needed some
- 5:11Speaker 1: time at Happy. I'll seem like all I do is
- 5:14Speaker 1: dry to work and go to work. I'm gonna go
- 5:16Speaker 1: out with the fellas drink one. Okay, let's say you
- 5:21Speaker 1: spend two hours at Happy. I don't nobody go to
- 5:23Speaker 1: a Happy Hours yet for a hour. Let's say you
- 5:25Speaker 1: spend two hours at Happy, I'll all smoke in all
- 5:28Speaker 1: some video games. Let's throw that in there. Two hours
- 5:30Speaker 1: of smoking, chilling video games. That's twenty three hours of
- 5:34Speaker 1: your day gone. Don't you see how your day slips
- 5:37Speaker 1: away from you? So why would you get up early?
- 5:41Speaker 1: You get up early to get a jump. You get
- 5:44Speaker 1: up early to produce, to plan, to become productive. You
- 5:49Speaker 1: get up early in the morning to care about every
- 5:52Speaker 1: single minute of your day. You wake up early in
- 5:54Speaker 1: the morning because you have a plan, a mission, You
- 5:58Speaker 1: have something you want to accomplish. The earlier you get up,
- 6:01Speaker 1: the more time you have just for you to devote
- 6:03Speaker 1: to your plan. You map it out, you make them,
- 6:06Speaker 1: send some emails, whatever it is you need to do
- 6:09Speaker 1: to get your dream under way. Then you go get ready.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Then you get in your car and go to work.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Then you go to your job, but on your job,
- 6:18Speaker 1: instead of sitting at your lunch break messing around with
- 6:20Speaker 1: a bunch of people laughing and talking about nothing, playing dominoes,
- 6:24Speaker 1: why don't you take that hour to do some more research,
- 6:26Speaker 1: to send out some more emails, to put some feelings
- 6:30Speaker 1: out there, to see what can get you in the
- 6:32Speaker 1: place that you want to be. Then when you get off,
- 6:35Speaker 1: instead of driving straight home, why don't you go somewhere
- 6:38Speaker 1: in a meeting you take in a session with some
- 6:40Speaker 1: people in a positive mental state, group of people that
- 6:43Speaker 1: get together network for business, not drink at happy hour.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I set network for business. So after you've done that
- 6:50Speaker 1: eight that you don't really care for on a job,
- 6:52Speaker 1: you spend some more time pursuing, looking into researching, working
- 6:57Speaker 1: towards sending out some more applications, putting in some more
- 7:01Speaker 1: time to build your new app discussing some more networking ideas. Okay,
- 7:06Speaker 1: that's your happy hour. Then when you go home, instead
- 7:08Speaker 1: of chilling, drinking one, having a cold one, smoking one,
- 7:13Speaker 1: playing a video game, why don't you take that two
- 7:15Speaker 1: hours and devote that to that business idea. You got
- 7:19Speaker 1: to that family that you talk about, You really want
- 7:22Speaker 1: spend some time with your children, put something into them.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Do something.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Man, when all these precious hours that God gives all
- 7:29Speaker 1: of us in the course of a day, take advantage
- 7:32Speaker 1: of every minute of that. No human being has more
- 7:36Speaker 1: than twenty four hours a day, including myself.
- 7:39Speaker 2: But if you care about every single.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Minute of that day, you'll be amazed at how much
- 7:45Speaker 1: you could get accomplished in a twenty four hour day.
- 7:48Speaker 1: But you can't get none of that happening because you
- 7:51Speaker 1: sleep and you chilling and you smoking. Okay, what has
- 7:57Speaker 1: that done for you, your family, or your future? Care
- 8:00Speaker 1: about every minute of your
- 8:01Speaker 2: Day you're listening to The Steve Harvey Morning Show.
