- 0:03Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to foul Territory. I'm Heidi Watney. I'm
- 0:07Speaker 1: mean for Stott Braun today, amocrats Aj Prasinski. You guys
- 0:11Speaker 1: are going to be leading the way today because this
- 0:13Speaker 1: is my maiden voyage on foul Territory. How do you
- 0:16Speaker 1: guys feel about carrying the show?
- 0:19Speaker 2: Easy?
- 0:20Speaker 3: And we can't hear a j he's muted. So since
- 0:29Speaker 3: he's back, he's back.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You know, like Heidi shirt, Montreal has n't been the
- 0:35Speaker 2: same without the expos Quick pitch hasn't been the same
- 0:38Speaker 2: without Heidi. I'm not gonna lie, I haven't watched it.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Well, thank you. I appreciate that it was a great show.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Miss the show good times. The White Sox haven't been
- 0:48Speaker 1: the same without you either, A So.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I mean that's like that, that's way more of an understatement.
- 0:53Speaker 2: And quick pitch do you trust me?
- 0:57Speaker 1: That's true? That's true?
- 0:59Speaker 4: How you guys?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Where are you joining us from?
- 1:02Speaker 2: I am at a golf course down in South Florida
- 1:04Speaker 2: called Grove twenty three. I am in the conference room.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So I'm there's a guy that owns Oh no, there's
- 1:10Speaker 2: people coming in. There's a guy named Michael Jordan that
- 1:12Speaker 2: owns this place. I don't know if you guys ever
- 1:14Speaker 2: heard of him, so I'm trying to. I'm on the
- 1:16Speaker 2: download down here.
- 1:18Speaker 1: We're name dropping, like sixty seconds into the show. I
- 1:21Speaker 1: love it.
- 1:21Speaker 2: AJ listen my day.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Listen.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'm going to say this my I don't want to
- 1:27Speaker 2: say my life was made. My day was made today though,
- 1:29Speaker 2: when I saw MJ and he said, hey, I listened
- 1:32Speaker 2: to you on the playoffs. You did awesome, Like it's
- 1:34Speaker 2: hard to when the goat says that to you. It's
- 1:37Speaker 2: really hard to have a bad day, right, like when
- 1:41Speaker 2: you haven't seen him for a while and that's what
- 1:43Speaker 2: he says to you. It's really hard to have a
- 1:46Speaker 2: bad day.
- 1:48Speaker 1: That's amazing. I take two things from that. First of all,
- 1:51Speaker 1: you did a great job in the playoffs, and that
- 1:53Speaker 1: he's watching, which is great.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I know he's a basic right, yes, So sorry sorry
- 1:59Speaker 2: if I named her, but I mean that made me
- 2:01Speaker 2: feel happy. So we're always looking for positives on the show. God,
- 2:04Speaker 2: it's a positive.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Anytime you run into MJ. You can name Jock Eric
- 2:09Speaker 1: anything with your day? Did did like Derek Jeter have
- 2:12Speaker 1: coffee with you? This morning?
- 2:15Speaker 3: I took a walk with my wife and I tried
- 2:17Speaker 3: to fix my mower. That was fun.
- 2:21Speaker 2: What's a mower? What's a like a what kind of
- 2:25Speaker 2: more like a manscaper? Or are we talking like a lawnmower?
- 2:29Speaker 3: Talking about a push lawn mulching? More? I got leaves.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I got leaves, so I got to pick the leaves up.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I mulch them, and then I put them in a
- 2:37Speaker 3: pile and then I make some nice leaf mulch out
- 2:39Speaker 3: of it. It's tremendous. It's nothing you would know about.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Nothing you would know about the.
- 2:44Speaker 1: East Coast with leaves this time of year. Don't even
- 2:47Speaker 1: want to go there. All right, we're just going to
- 2:48Speaker 1: jump right into it right now. We are. Let's charge
- 2:51Speaker 1: the mountain guys about all right, We've got the MVP
- 2:59Speaker 1: of War winners being announced tonight. We're going to start
- 3:02Speaker 1: in the American League here because this is going to
- 3:05Speaker 1: be the race that everyone is talking about. It's really
- 3:09Speaker 1: coming down to a two man race. Aaron Judge cal Rawley.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I want to know. I think I know, being former catchers,
- 3:16Speaker 1: who you two are going to pick, But who do
- 3:19Speaker 1: you think is going to actually win the award? AJ
- 3:21Speaker 1: We'll start with you.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Listen, I hope cal Rawley wins, but he's not. So
- 3:27Speaker 2: Aaron Judge is going to win just because he's Aaron
- 3:29Speaker 2: Judge and he had an awesome year and he's deserving
- 3:31Speaker 2: as cal Rawly is. But I really want cal Rawly
- 3:34Speaker 2: to win just for Catchers all over the world, Like
- 3:36Speaker 2: I need Catcher. I need more Catcher love. Okay, more
- 3:39Speaker 2: Catcher love please from people.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, we definitely need we need cal to win it,
- 3:45Speaker 3: not only because I put a little lager down when
- 3:48Speaker 3: Aj told me he was going to win it right
- 3:50Speaker 3: before maybe before even half, like the beginning of June,
- 3:53Speaker 3: and I was like, yeah, I need so I need
- 3:55Speaker 3: that to win today, So that would be huge. But
- 3:59Speaker 3: like Brent Rookers said Friend of the Show, he said,
- 4:02Speaker 3: you know what, whoever wins, it's okay, Like you don't.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be East Coast bias. It doesn't
- 4:10Speaker 3: have to be Aaron Judge fatigue. It can just be
- 4:14Speaker 3: whoever wins. Let's look just at what they did because
- 4:18Speaker 3: both guys. Whoever becomes an MVP, it's gonna be historical
- 4:23Speaker 3: and we need to we need to celebrate it. And
- 4:25Speaker 3: Brent Rooker let everybody know he's really good and letting
- 4:29Speaker 3: everybody know. And I'm sure he got a lot of
- 4:30Speaker 3: hate from Mariners fans, and I'm sure because he's in
- 4:33Speaker 3: their division. And I'm sure he got a lot of
- 4:36Speaker 3: hate from Yankees fans because he's not on their team.
- 4:39Speaker 2: And that's what Yankee fans do. Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Yeah, Yankees fans love to just hate on anyone. Look,
- 4:46Speaker 1: I covered both of them this year. I interviewed both
- 4:48Speaker 1: of them. Aaron Judge Aaron Boone said, he plays in
- 4:53Speaker 1: a different league. He's just that much better offensively than
- 4:57Speaker 1: anyone else. He led all of baseball and average opp slugging,
- 5:01Speaker 1: ops and war and a lot of the voters. The
- 5:05Speaker 1: voters are writers, and what are the writers look at?
- 5:07Speaker 1: The writers are going to look at stats. Judges wore
- 5:09Speaker 1: nine point seven, Raleigh seven point three. But I think,
- 5:13Speaker 1: like heart of heart, I'm with you, guys. Cal is
- 5:16Speaker 1: a switch hitting catcher who had a season for the
- 5:20Speaker 1: Ages sixty home runs while being behind the plate for
- 5:25Speaker 1: almost every single game. I know he DHD some, but
- 5:29Speaker 1: he leads that pitching staff, and that pitching staff is
- 5:33Speaker 1: why the Mariners are in the postseason, right, It.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Just doesn't matter. That's a matter of Heidi, because you know,
- 5:41Speaker 2: the voters are like, oh, a Rod Wants won the
- 5:44Speaker 2: MVP and the last place team, but he had the
- 5:46Speaker 2: best stats. Like No, that's where that's where the value
- 5:50Speaker 2: of MVP versus best player come into because for me,
- 5:54Speaker 2: cal Rawley's MVP because he caught every day nothing against
- 5:57Speaker 2: Aaron Judge. I love Aaron Judge. I think he's awesome,
- 5:59Speaker 2: great for the game, and one of the best players
- 6:02Speaker 2: in baseball, top three player in the game. But this year,
- 6:04Speaker 2: one year, Aaron Judge, you can have it again next year,
- 6:07Speaker 2: But for this one year, cal Rawly did things that
- 6:09Speaker 2: we have never seen. He deserves.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's one of the things that you want
- 6:15Speaker 1: to stay away from is the voter fatigue with Judge
- 6:19Speaker 1: because he is still what he's doing is insane and
- 6:23Speaker 1: that's why he's probably gonna win, and he's doing it
- 6:26Speaker 1: in big market. But I just think you have to
- 6:28Speaker 1: look at the entire position, right. Look, when you look
- 6:31Speaker 1: at show Hey, you don't ignore the fact that he's
- 6:33Speaker 1: hitting and he's pitching, and that's probably why he's going
- 6:36Speaker 1: to win the National League. You can't just just glance
- 6:40Speaker 1: over at the fact that he is the quarterback of
- 6:42Speaker 1: that team.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Right, Eric, one hundred percent. And you know what, if
- 6:48Speaker 3: you go back and I think we've shifted through the years,
- 6:52Speaker 3: like there was years where you know, they went back
- 6:54Speaker 3: and created the war for players, and there's a lot
- 6:57Speaker 3: of guys that didn't have even close to this war
- 7:00Speaker 3: as the top war person who didn't even win MVP.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So I think throughout the years will shift and everything
- 7:07Speaker 3: will change. But I love that. I love that comparison
- 7:10Speaker 3: that he just made Heidi with the fact that show
- 7:13Speaker 3: hey incredible DH when he did last year just at DH. Yes,
- 7:17Speaker 3: he earned the MVP because it was historic. The fact
- 7:21Speaker 3: that he's pitching and hitting now, I don't see how
- 7:24Speaker 3: anybody else could win it. The fact that cal Raley
- 7:27Speaker 3: has to lead his team. I think he caught one
- 7:29Speaker 3: hundred and twelve games this year and he played one
- 7:31Speaker 3: hundred and fifty six total. Like the fact that he
- 7:34Speaker 3: has to lead his team and be behind the dish
- 7:37Speaker 3: and get no days off. DH is not a day off.
- 7:40Speaker 3: DH is a day to just not catch, but he
- 7:43Speaker 3: has to do it essentially on both sides of the ball,
- 7:46Speaker 3: and it's taking nothing away from judges' outfield. Before his
- 7:50Speaker 3: elbow got hurt, He's one of the best right fielders
- 7:52Speaker 3: in the game, best arm, accurate, all that stuff. When
- 7:55Speaker 3: he got hurt, he essentially gave some of his defense up,
- 8:00Speaker 3: the same thing that happened to Cal. It would not
- 8:03Speaker 3: have been like Cal couldn't have played behind a dish hurt,
- 8:06Speaker 3: so he would have had a just DH and we
- 8:07Speaker 3: wouldn't even be having this conversation, right.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And honestly, most valuable player also most valuable player to
- 8:16Speaker 1: your team. Now, you take either one of those guys
- 8:18Speaker 1: off their teams, they're not making the postseason, so they're
- 8:21Speaker 1: obviously both very valuable. But you take the catcher that
- 8:24Speaker 1: has guided that staff from the time that every single
- 8:27Speaker 1: one of those guys came up, and you take him
- 8:30Speaker 1: off the team. The Mariners aren't winning their first division
- 8:33Speaker 1: title since two thousand and one. And Jose Ramirez the
- 8:36Speaker 1: third guy in this debate. And Jose's like the bridesmaid, right,
- 8:40Speaker 1: He like always the bridesmaid, never the bride. He's in
- 8:43Speaker 1: the MVP conversation every years.
- 8:47Speaker 3: He's just in the He's not even the bridesmaid, He's
- 8:50Speaker 3: just in everybody's wedding. And I think Jose Ramirez, if
- 8:53Speaker 3: you watch him, I think he loves it. I think
- 8:55Speaker 3: he'd be like, h whatever, MVP, it doesn't really matter.
- 8:58Speaker 3: He loves being in everybody's wedding. He's the dude nothing
- 9:01Speaker 3: is expected of and he's just he's there for the party,
- 9:05Speaker 3: He's there for the for the Guardians. He keeps signing
- 9:08Speaker 3: his extensions to stay with the Guardians, like, but he is,
- 9:13Speaker 3: he's legitimately. I have to look at I thought he
- 9:15Speaker 3: had something like six top ten finishes and MVP in
- 9:19Speaker 3: his career already, like, and he just keeps he could
- 9:23Speaker 3: be a forty forty guy. I think it will take
- 9:24Speaker 3: a down year from other guys for him to finally
- 9:26Speaker 3: win it and for him to get exactly to his
- 9:30Speaker 3: forty forty without the last game of the season being canceled. Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Thirty home runs, forty four stolen bases this year, one
- 9:39Speaker 1: thirty seven ops plus and he's the heartbeat, like you say,
- 9:43Speaker 1: of that team. And he doesn't seem to mind that
- 9:45Speaker 1: he's not getting the attention of Kal Rowl and Judge.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But I mean, I think we know the outcome tonight,
- 9:52Speaker 1: but this is going to be a race to watch.
- 9:54Speaker 1: This is going to be the closest I think of
- 9:56Speaker 1: all of them.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Let's hope we don't know the outcome, we don't know
- 10:00Speaker 2: the oga.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd be pleasantly surprised.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And meaning, I hope cal Rowly wins, like everything, assuming
- 10:08Speaker 2: Aaron Judge is gonna win. Like, let's hope that kel
- 10:10Speaker 2: Rowly wins, because it gives hope to the smaller people
- 10:14Speaker 2: out there, you know, us catchers, crats. It gives us hope.

- 11:19Speaker 1: All right, some big news from San Diego today. The
- 11:22Speaker 1: Padres have announced through a letter that the Seidler family
- 11:25Speaker 1: is exploring their strategic options, which could result in the
- 11:29Speaker 1: sale of part or all of the team. The announcement
- 11:33Speaker 1: comes one day shi of exactly two years after Peter
- 11:36Speaker 1: Seidler died. Peter Sidler was the heartbeat of this organization
- 11:39Speaker 1: and the team so badly wanted to win the World
- 11:42Speaker 1: so he's even go to the World Series for him.
- 11:45Speaker 1: But it's been a tumultuous time with the ownership group
- 11:49Speaker 1: since he died. I mean, he was the Padres. He's
- 11:52Speaker 1: the reason that they had the Padres and we've heard
- 11:57Speaker 1: a lot, We've heard a lot around the team recently,
- 12:01Speaker 1: so they're going to evaluate the process and the Padres
- 12:03Speaker 1: it looks like might be up for sale. Guys, what's
- 12:06Speaker 1: your reaction to that?
- 12:07Speaker 2: Aja, Okay, if they're not going to spend the way
- 12:10Speaker 2: Peter Syler did, then yeah, sell the team. That's that's
- 12:13Speaker 2: my reaction. That's totally my reactions. Peter Siler wanted the
- 12:17Speaker 2: team to win. He wanted to bring a championship to
- 12:19Speaker 2: San Diego.
- 12:20Speaker 3: He was all in.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Unfortunately he got sick and passed away, which is very sad.
- 12:24Speaker 2: But if the rest of the family doesn't want to
- 12:26Speaker 2: do what he did and sell the team, because somebody
- 12:29Speaker 2: else will do it and the Padres are bowling Hidi.
- 12:31Speaker 2: I don't know when the last time you took Apple
- 12:32Speaker 2: TV to San Diego, because last time I was there,
- 12:35Speaker 2: I saw Apple TV, but it was the other crew.
- 12:39Speaker 2: They sell out every game. The whole area is unbelievable.
- 12:42Speaker 2: They got people up in the high rises, you got
- 12:45Speaker 2: people at the gas loom, you got everybody wearing Padres
- 12:48Speaker 2: here because it's the only team in town. They are
- 12:50Speaker 2: behind this team. If you're not going to try and
- 12:52Speaker 2: compete and spend money and do it right, then sell
- 12:54Speaker 2: the team and move on and get your two billion,
- 12:56Speaker 2: and someone else will take over and try.
- 13:00Speaker 3: For this. I applaud him for saying, you know what
- 13:03Speaker 3: we want to get out, not you know what, this
- 13:07Speaker 3: is making us a lot of money. We'll just kind
- 13:09Speaker 3: of do whatever we do and keep the money and
- 13:11Speaker 3: keep the keep the team rolling. Hopefully it gets in
- 13:14Speaker 3: an ownership group that wants to win a World Series
- 13:18Speaker 3: for the city of San Diego just as bad as
- 13:21Speaker 3: the late Peter Seiler did because he built that he
- 13:25Speaker 3: built this team, He allowed the spending to go ham
- 13:30Speaker 3: because he wanted to win a World Series. That is
- 13:33Speaker 3: all we ever ask, all we ever ask of any
- 13:36Speaker 3: owner is do whatever you could possibly do in your
- 13:39Speaker 3: time as owner to win a World Series because your
- 13:43Speaker 3: fans will forever be behind you. And look at what
- 13:45Speaker 3: the Padre fans have done. Ever since twenty nineteen, when
- 13:49Speaker 3: Fernando Tatist made his debut opening series of the year,
- 13:55Speaker 3: that place has just continually gone up and up in
- 14:00Speaker 3: in attendance, in popularity. They are the place to be
- 14:04Speaker 3: for eighty one nights. And I think if you are
- 14:07Speaker 3: looking to buy a team, why would you not want
- 14:10Speaker 3: to buy this team? Why would you not want to
- 14:13Speaker 3: continue the trend of a sold out stadium Because that
- 14:17Speaker 3: is where your revenue is, That's where your local revenue is.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I get it's TV too, but to me, if the
- 14:22Speaker 3: Seidler family says, you know what, we don't want to
- 14:24Speaker 3: be involved in this anymore, good for them. Time to
- 14:27Speaker 3: get out. They'll get someone else in that wants to
- 14:30Speaker 3: continue what Peter had been doing.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you guys and San Diego. You
- 14:36Speaker 1: know when they lost the Chargers, the Padres are the
- 14:38Speaker 1: show in town. That's the only professional sports team in town,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and that place is packed, and then they built the
- 14:45Speaker 1: gas lamp around it, and it's got that beautiful stadium.
- 14:48Speaker 1: They've got a dynamic roster tactiss in Jackson Merrill and
- 14:53Speaker 1: Manny Machado, And I mean the rivalry with the Dodgers
- 14:57Speaker 1: has become insane, one of the best in the sport
- 15:02Speaker 1: right now. I mean that is it's it's rare to
- 15:05Speaker 1: see a franchise decide that they're going to even explore
- 15:09Speaker 1: selling a team when the franchise is doing so well.
- 15:12Speaker 1: But I think you're right, Aja, and that that's the
- 15:14Speaker 1: best way to honor Peter Seidler is if you don't
- 15:17Speaker 1: have the heart in it, if you don't if you're
- 15:19Speaker 1: not going to put the resources in it, that Peter did,
- 15:23Speaker 1: or if whatever is going behind this going on behind
- 15:25Speaker 1: the scenes with the family and with Peter's widow and
- 15:29Speaker 1: the brothers, if whatever's going on is just too much
- 15:32Speaker 1: and it's it's going to hurt the franchise, then yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 1: explore selling it and let someone else take that the
- 15:38Speaker 1: franchise that has become one of the better franchises in
- 15:42Speaker 1: the sport with a roster loaded with talent, and take
- 15:45Speaker 1: them into the future.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I do.
- 15:46Speaker 1: I applaud them, like you guys for doing.
- 15:48Speaker 2: That's pretty big. What's over your right shoulder? I think
- 15:51Speaker 2: it's your right shoulder.
- 15:53Speaker 1: World Series Trophy?
- 15:55Speaker 2: What's the ultimate goal in baseball?
- 15:58Speaker 3: That?
- 15:59Speaker 2: Yes, So if you're not going to try and do that,
- 16:01Speaker 2: And we just had Jason on right about the Orioles,
- 16:04Speaker 2: and you know what, the new owner hasn't done. He
- 16:05Speaker 2: hasn't proven that he wants to win that badly. He's
- 16:08Speaker 2: kind of they're doing the same thing as the Angelou's
- 16:10Speaker 2: family did, like, oh well we're trying, but we're we're
- 16:14Speaker 2: really not trying. So if Peter one thing about Peter Sidlers,
- 16:18Speaker 2: he wanted it, he wanted it in his family that
- 16:20Speaker 2: they don't want it, sell it, sell I get your
- 16:23Speaker 2: two billion and get out, because two billion spends nicely
- 16:26Speaker 2: on the open market. I'm just saying, like, I could
- 16:28Speaker 2: do a lot with two billions, So you know, I'm
- 16:30Speaker 2: just thinking like, man, you know, I give me two billion,
- 16:33Speaker 2: I'm happy to take it. So move on and find someone.
- 16:37Speaker 2: But you have to find the right owner, because just
- 16:39Speaker 2: because you get a new owner doesn't necessarily me know
- 16:41Speaker 2: the right owner. So you've got to do your stuff
- 16:44Speaker 2: and make sure you get the right owner that will
- 16:46Speaker 2: actually go for what's behind Heidie shoulder, which is a
- 16:48Speaker 2: World Series trophy.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that might be what's happening in Miami right now,
- 16:53Speaker 1: right which, by the.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Way, how did you get that trophy? Like, is that
- 16:56Speaker 2: your trophy?
- 16:58Speaker 1: It's my husband's trophy from what team Astros?
- 17:04Speaker 2: Oh, he was a trash can bager twenty seventeen.
- 17:08Speaker 3: She didn't want to say it. She didn't want to
- 17:09Speaker 3: say TROPHYI.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Was a pro scout for the Houston Astros in twenty
- 17:16Speaker 1: seventeen when they won the World Series. And as someone
- 17:18Speaker 1: who worked in front offices in baseball for twenty years,
- 17:22Speaker 1: you're right, that's the ultimate goal. And and so he
- 17:25Speaker 1: he wanted the actual trophy.
- 17:28Speaker 2: He just just ignored that whole thing. Kratz. I love
- 17:30Speaker 2: it television. That's professional television at its best. Right there.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Next to that is a David Ortiz Jersey Poppy.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Just look at that.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Just look at that. Pop is my boy love Poppy,
- 17:48Speaker 1: all right.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I mean I've known him since we were eighteen or
- 17:51Speaker 2: nineteen together, and he had a different name of that
- 17:55Speaker 2: time too, so that's cold he did. We traded for
- 17:57Speaker 2: the wrong guy. We remember telling Terry Ryan that he
- 18:00Speaker 2: David Arias when I played against him. He was a
- 18:02Speaker 2: uh Seattle. We traded for him, and we're like, hey, Terry,
- 18:05Speaker 2: you got the wrong guy. You're supposed to trade for
- 18:07Speaker 2: David Areas. He's like, no, he changed his name and
- 18:08Speaker 2: lost five years and just kidding, but we used to
- 18:11Speaker 2: tell David.
- 18:11Speaker 3: That he didn't.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And now whether you call him David Ortiz or big
- 18:17Speaker 1: Poppy or whatever.
- 18:19Speaker 3: He can't.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I can't call him big Poppy because I knew him
- 18:22Speaker 2: when he was big crappy to me, like he was nobody.
- 18:25Speaker 2: He was just David. Like I think everyone's like, oh,
- 18:27Speaker 2: I'm like, to me, he's just still David. I've known
- 18:31Speaker 2: him for so thirty but almost thirty years now, so
- 18:33Speaker 2: to me, he's still David, Like there's no because I called.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Him David too, and people look at me like I
- 18:39Speaker 1: have two heads when I say that. But I knew him.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I was the Red Sox reporter for four years with him,
- 18:44Speaker 1: and I called him David. I didn't call him.
- 18:47Speaker 2: They go, they go, like hey, they go, they go,
- 18:49Speaker 2: they go, and I was, you know, And then all
- 18:52Speaker 2: of a sudden he listened to the notorious Big Song
- 18:55Speaker 2: and he used to sing it. I love him when
- 18:56Speaker 2: you call me big pathy and then all of a
- 18:58Speaker 2: sudden he took off, and then he's big coffee.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Cratsy. What do you call them?
- 19:04Speaker 3: I call them. Let's go to break.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Such a suck up crap, which I appreciate.
- 19:12Speaker 1: All right, we are going to take a quick break
- 19:14Speaker 1: and we're gonna come back with That's what he.

- 20:19Speaker 1: Paul Skeens was named the cy Young Award winner, second
- 20:23Speaker 1: pitcher to win the award the year after he was
- 20:25Speaker 1: named the NL Rookie of the Year. That's duplicating Dwig
- 20:29Speaker 1: Gooden's feed for the Mets in eighty four and eighty
- 20:31Speaker 1: five and Frnanda Veltinzuela, of course, in eighty one won
- 20:34Speaker 1: the MVP and the cy Young that year. Skeens though,
- 20:38Speaker 1: the interesting thing about him and here you go unanimous.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Skeen said afterwards, you know, winning the award is obviously
- 20:44Speaker 1: a big honor, but winning it unanimously, that's where it
- 20:49Speaker 1: goes next level. It's pretty pretty special for him. Skeen's
- 20:55Speaker 1: best pitcher in baseball last year. I mean, he just
- 20:57Speaker 1: blew away the competition. But he has some interesting quote
- 21:02Speaker 1: afterwards about Pittsburgh and about wanting to stay in Pittsburgh
- 21:06Speaker 1: because story came out yesterday that he wanted to be
- 21:09Speaker 1: traded the Yankees. Always wanted to play for the Yankees.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Not sure where that came from an anonymous teammate. I
- 21:14Speaker 1: always wonder about those things. What did you guys think
- 21:16Speaker 1: about Paul Skeen saying he wants to not only stay
- 21:21Speaker 1: not get traded, he wants to bring a World Series
- 21:24Speaker 1: title to Pittsburgh. Kratzy will start with you.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I want to see why AJ is pouting. I see
- 21:28Speaker 3: his big lower lips. So that's before we comment on anything.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I want to know why AJ is pouting. Did he
- 21:35Speaker 3: not think did he think Christopher Sanchez was going to
- 21:37Speaker 3: win the SiO.
- 21:39Speaker 2: No, I'm acting like Paul Skeins did when he's won
- 21:41Speaker 2: the Rookie the Year and the SYOM.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Okay, his reactions, what's that about, dud?
- 21:48Speaker 2: If someone for like eighty one Rookie of the Year
- 21:50Speaker 2: and the next three you want say I would be
- 21:52Speaker 2: doing backbooks, like I'd be showing Libby Done how to
- 21:54Speaker 2: do the balance beam.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Well maybe he just thinks everyone's looking at Libby Done
- 21:58Speaker 1: and no one's looking at him. Anyway, darn is like
- 22:00Speaker 1: look of the air.
- 22:02Speaker 2: He's like uh huh. And this year he we actually
- 22:04Speaker 2: kind of got a fist pump, like a double fist pump,
- 22:07Speaker 2: So like, yeah, I just feel like you should have
- 22:09Speaker 2: been more excited, don't you. I guess when you're just
- 22:13Speaker 2: expecting to be this awesome, he just doesn't get you excited.
- 22:16Speaker 2: But the last year one is a meme of all time,
- 22:18Speaker 2: a gift gift with whatever you call it. But it
- 22:21Speaker 2: was an all timer because he's like, yeah, I know,
- 22:24Speaker 2: Paul's like mm hmm brushed it. Yeah, But anyways, that's it.
- 22:30Speaker 2: That's why my face is like that, because I'm not surprised.
- 22:33Speaker 3: The kids use the kids use that video as the
- 22:36Speaker 3: nonchalant final boss, Like there couldn't be more of a
- 22:41Speaker 3: chalant type of moment where you're like, yes, yes, so honestly,
- 22:46Speaker 3: I need to see Paul Skeans win a World Series
- 22:48Speaker 3: because I want to see him go hard. I get it,
- 22:51Speaker 3: he was an Air Force guy. I get it. He's
- 22:54Speaker 3: he thinks he's supposed to do this. But I want
- 22:56Speaker 3: to see him celebrate like it's nineteen. Like I want
- 23:01Speaker 3: to see him like really, because you know, he puts
- 23:04Speaker 3: in a ton of work and maybe that's why he
- 23:06Speaker 3: kind of has that like demeanor where he's never too high,
- 23:10Speaker 3: never too low. But you want to see a guy
- 23:12Speaker 3: be able to celebrate. And this year he went all
- 23:14Speaker 3: the way out to hear yes, but the kids say, oh,
- 23:18Speaker 3: bro gonna be nonchalant. Bro got to be nonchalant. Or
- 23:22Speaker 3: maybe he's just waiting to get called up to the
- 23:24Speaker 3: next league that Aaron judge, so be Aaron judge him.
- 23:27Speaker 3: And this year cal Raley and Shoho Tani it before
- 23:31Speaker 3: Man League. I guess you.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Could you could do that. I wonder if because he's
- 23:39Speaker 1: one of those guys who's always been team right. He's
- 23:43Speaker 1: he said, the individual awards are great, but what.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I play for is all right there he HEDI stuff.
- 23:49Speaker 2: He's in Pittsburgh, okay, so that whatever you're pointing out
- 23:52Speaker 2: back there. That is probably not gonna happen. He was
- 23:55Speaker 2: in Pittsburgh, so maybe enjoy getting a Sally Young, enjoy
- 24:00Speaker 2: getting Rookie of the Year, Like that's those are cool.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Like I didn't win that. If I would
- 24:05Speaker 2: have wanted to say, I would, I mean I was,
- 24:07Speaker 2: I would have been a pitcher or if I would
- 24:10Speaker 2: have won the MVP, are you kidding me? I would
- 24:12Speaker 2: have had a party like nobody's business. Like I would
- 24:14Speaker 2: have rented out and he's an LSU guy, I know live.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I would have rent it out LSU Stadium and had
- 24:18Speaker 2: a party and been like, yeah, people celebrate me. Instead
- 24:22Speaker 2: he's like cool, bro.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Maybe he's so salty because the Pirates don't really seem
- 24:31Speaker 1: to be doing a whole lot to add to the team.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I mean, one of his quotes, he said, I personally
- 24:37Speaker 1: love if we're losing, the fans don't show up in
- 24:39Speaker 1: the same numbers. If you want fans, you have to win.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I want to be a part of the group that
- 24:44Speaker 1: accomplishes that. The fans do come. They come once every
- 24:47Speaker 1: five days when he's the starting pitcher. Otherwise they don't come.
- 24:51Speaker 1: But maybe he's just so salty because he wants more.
- 24:56Speaker 1: He wants more around him. He doesn't want to be
- 24:58Speaker 1: the only main attract in Pittsburgh.
- 25:02Speaker 3: I think that's fair. But I think Pittsburgh can look
- 25:05Speaker 3: not too far to the north in Detroit and see
- 25:10Speaker 3: that a team can win with a legit starting pitcher,
- 25:14Speaker 3: and really they're not. You're not asking the Pirates to
- 25:17Speaker 3: put to put Wan Soto in, Sho Heo Tani and
- 25:21Speaker 3: Kyle Tucker all around him. You're just looking to surround
- 25:25Speaker 3: Paul Skeens. And you know what, that starting rotation is
- 25:29Speaker 3: pretty legit. And at the end of the season, I
- 25:31Speaker 3: think they were like the sixth best defensive team. So
- 25:34Speaker 3: maybe the Pirates aren't that far And maybe Paul Skeens
- 25:37Speaker 3: is saying this just to say the right things because
- 25:40Speaker 3: he was trained really well by his agent, by some
- 25:44Speaker 3: media people, whatever it is. But you know what, if
- 25:48Speaker 3: you're somewhere, you might as well want to win while
- 25:50Speaker 3: you're there, and you might as well try to push
- 25:53Speaker 3: other people around you, not just your not just your
- 25:55Speaker 3: fellow players, maybe the front office, maybe ownership. You know,
- 26:00Speaker 3: last year at the at the awards ceremony, when we
- 26:02Speaker 3: had Paul Schemes on the show, Bob Nutting showed up,
- 26:06Speaker 3: so he showed up so he knows that Paul is
- 26:08Speaker 3: pitching really well for his team. Maybe this is Paul saying,
- 26:12Speaker 3: you know what, I'll keep doing this for you. I
- 26:15Speaker 3: get it. You might not resign me, but don't make
- 26:17Speaker 3: me spend four years in purgatory here. Don't make me.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Don't make me win another cy Young at ten to ten.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Like I've had his historical start to my career, maybe
- 26:29Speaker 3: you need to start doing something too. And maybe that's maybe,
- 26:32Speaker 3: hopefully that's what some of these comments, which are not
- 26:34Speaker 3: salacious at all, spurse something like get some kind of
- 26:39Speaker 3: fire or spark or something for the Pirates front office.
- 26:44Speaker 1: All right, well let's give his personal catcher at Henry Nobody.
- 26:48Speaker 2: No, no, I think this is I think this is
- 26:51Speaker 2: a bad stand. If I had Paul, I would have man,
- 26:54Speaker 2: I could have had the best catcher's era of all time.
- 26:56Speaker 2: I know crowds agrees with me. But although he's probably
- 26:58Speaker 2: catchers e guy like okay, oh listen, I get to
- 27:01Speaker 2: catch the ace. So my catcher's era is better than
- 27:04Speaker 2: the catcher who catches the four. Other days it might
- 27:06Speaker 2: get the five guy or a bullpen day or whatever
- 27:08Speaker 2: it is. I think it's one of the worst stats
- 27:10Speaker 2: of all time because you could suck your way right
- 27:13Speaker 2: up into a good catcher's vra if you're good at
- 27:15Speaker 2: and I know some people that I played with that
- 27:17Speaker 2: were good at it.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Okay, but there's got something behind it because the pirates.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Are looking for it. I just told you. I just
- 27:25Speaker 2: told you what it was. If I caught Paul Schemes
- 27:27Speaker 2: right now, he might have had so Henry Davis had
- 27:30Speaker 2: a one point eight one ERA when he caught him, Okay,
- 27:33Speaker 2: so I might have got him to a one point seven.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Am I a better catcher than Henry Davis right now? No?
- 27:38Speaker 2: So I don't deserve any credit either, Like that's it's
- 27:41Speaker 2: the crats is laughing, But I hope he agrees with me.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Like catcher's e ra A. To me, this doesn't mean
- 27:46Speaker 2: what people think it means because it all depends on
- 27:48Speaker 2: who you catch when you catch him, what lineup, who's
- 27:51Speaker 2: available in the bullpen. It's like such a such a
- 27:53Speaker 2: random stat it can be manifuam well, good job Henry Davis.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Because I will say this about Henry is he stuck
- 28:00Speaker 2: in the big leagues and he proved he can catch
- 28:02Speaker 2: at the big league level, So for that, I will
- 28:04Speaker 2: give him kudos.
- 28:06Speaker 3: We're gonna happen. Real, what's that, Heidi?
- 28:09Speaker 1: Go ahead, keeping the ace happy? I mean, personal.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Catcher, Heidi, You're you're drinking the same kool aid. I'm
- 28:18Speaker 3: trying to think when you were in Boston. If that
- 28:21Speaker 3: person John Lester doesn't need a personal catcher, John Lester
- 28:27Speaker 3: is paid a person.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Tim Wakefield couldn't catch the knuckleball Josh Barr, so Doug
- 28:37Speaker 2: mure Belly had to get the personal from San. I
- 28:42Speaker 2: know that's different, Heidi, that's different.
- 28:44Speaker 3: And nobody's gonna listen to this because all the other
- 28:47Speaker 3: people have always sold this as if you are the
- 28:50Speaker 3: legit catcher. If we're going to talk about catchers e ra,
- 28:53Speaker 3: which I think it's a thing. But show me the
- 28:57Speaker 3: number five pitcher. Show me the number five pitcher and
- 29:00Speaker 3: he had a career year because you caught him all
- 29:02Speaker 3: thirty two of his starts. Show me the number four
- 29:06Speaker 3: pitcher on your staff. Don't show me, Paul Skeins, don't
- 29:09Speaker 3: show me John Lester.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Whoa what am Greg Mannix? Greg Mannix, back in the
- 29:16Speaker 2: day you kind of started this, Greg Max, like Tobby Lopez.
- 29:19Speaker 2: He can't catch me. Is he only hits forty homers
- 29:22Speaker 2: a year. I need Charlie O'Brien or Eddie Perez to
- 29:25Speaker 2: catch me. Greg Max is going the Hall of Fame
- 29:27Speaker 2: no matter what.
- 29:29Speaker 3: Here's the two here's the two examples. AJ's gonna play
- 29:32Speaker 3: every five, five days in a row. I'll play one day, okay.
- 29:36Speaker 3: AJ has to go out there. If he's like, you
- 29:40Speaker 3: know what, I'm gonna give everything I have to this
- 29:43Speaker 3: to this one starting pitcher and screw the other four
- 29:46Speaker 3: cat pictures that I'm catching, then he's not gonna be
- 29:49Speaker 3: doing his job right. AJ has to focus on the
- 29:51Speaker 3: one guy that he has that one day. Whether it's
- 29:54Speaker 3: the best pitcher or the worst pitcher, you have to
- 29:57Speaker 3: focus on that. It's the same as a backup catcher.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Like if you're saying this guy throws, like if a
- 30:03Speaker 3: picture and now it was tired to me when a
- 30:05Speaker 3: picture would be like, ugh, I don't like throwing to
- 30:08Speaker 3: this guy. Why do you not like throwing to that guy? Like?
- 30:11Speaker 3: Is he is he holding your arm back? Well? You know,
- 30:14Speaker 3: he just doesn't call the right pit like you're a
- 30:16Speaker 3: grown man, call your own pictures. I feel more comfortable
- 30:20Speaker 3: the way he sets up. So then talk to the
- 30:22Speaker 3: other guy, like as the backup. If somebody comes to
- 30:24Speaker 3: me and complains about the starting catcher and says I
- 30:28Speaker 3: don't like throwing to that guy because of this, go
- 30:33Speaker 3: tell him we're all on the same team. Just because
- 30:37Speaker 3: you didn't like a shift or you didn't like the
- 30:39Speaker 3: way that something was, Like, we're all trying to win.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Like the catcher's era stuff is cool. It's a cool
- 30:46Speaker 3: stat but I think it's done completely wrong when we
- 30:49Speaker 3: start talking about cy Young's and the best pictures on
- 30:53Speaker 3: the staff. Like if I pay, if I pay somebody
- 30:56Speaker 3: one hundred and sixty million dollars, I don't need to
- 30:58Speaker 3: bring over his personal catcher. Sorry, I'm paying you one
- 31:01Speaker 3: hundred and sixty million, you're gonna throw to the guy
- 31:03Speaker 3: who we won. In fact, I might even put the
- 31:05Speaker 3: bad guy back there.
- 31:08Speaker 2: By the way, Cratzy, I'm gonna use I'm gonna use
- 31:09Speaker 2: this as so. When I played for the Red Sox
- 31:11Speaker 2: for half a year, the opening day John Lester Pitch
- 31:14Speaker 2: in Baltimore, we lost one to nothing on a Nelson
- 31:16Speaker 2: Cruz homer that hit the foul pall on right field, Okay,
- 31:19Speaker 2: I didn't catch John Lesser again for months because they
- 31:22Speaker 2: said we didn't match up. Well, I'm like, not done.
- 31:25Speaker 2: This wasn't John, This wasn't John. This was the coaching staff. Okay,
- 31:28Speaker 2: So I love John, but he's like, oh yeah, I'm
- 31:31Speaker 2: like he gave up one run in like seven innings
- 31:33Speaker 2: on opening day and it was a it was a
- 31:36Speaker 2: shanked homer by Nelson Cruz that hit the foul pall.
- 31:39Speaker 2: What did I do so wrong?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Ah?
- 31:40Speaker 3: This?
- 31:41Speaker 2: And I'm like, okay, whatever, and then for the other
- 31:43Speaker 2: four days I concentrate on that. But I knew as
- 31:45Speaker 2: a player, like for that one day, I wasn't gonna play,
- 31:48Speaker 2: which is totally awkward to me. Personal catchers, Fine, if
- 31:52Speaker 2: you have to have that to get by, great, but
- 31:55Speaker 2: I don't. I'm not. I'm just not. I wasn't a
- 31:56Speaker 2: believer in it, Like you should be able to throw
- 31:58Speaker 2: who whoever. And again, like like what krat said, if
- 32:00Speaker 2: you had a problem with something I was doing as
- 32:02Speaker 2: the everyday guy, come talk to me. I'll fix it.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Don't go behind my back and say, oh I don't
- 32:07Speaker 2: like the way he sets up all right, Well, come
- 32:09Speaker 2: to me. I can I can adjust, just tell me
- 32:12Speaker 2: have a conversation that. That's why I'm not a big
- 32:14Speaker 2: personal catcher guy. People believe in it. Fine, it works,
- 32:17Speaker 2: it works. But again, like I said, the important thing
- 32:19Speaker 2: here about Henry Davis, besides Paul Skeins winning the Pion,
- 32:22Speaker 2: Henry Davis proved he could catch in the big leagues,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and that was the big question mark.
- 32:25Speaker 3: So good for you. Henry Davis proved a j wrong.
- 32:31Speaker 3: You guys like he call you out. Didn't he call
- 32:33Speaker 3: you out? When he came on the show, he said,
- 32:35Speaker 3: I heard what you said. I heard what you said
- 32:37Speaker 3: on that on that first in his first.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Game, Yeah, because I his like his second game catching
- 32:43Speaker 2: he was not good and and Derek Shilton was like,
- 32:46Speaker 2: he's not a catcher. And then the next spring I
- 32:49Speaker 2: saw him and I was like, he wasn't very good,
- 32:52Speaker 2: but he listens good. That's what I'm saying. Good for you,
- 32:54Speaker 2: Henry Davis. You proved you can catch in the big leagues.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I've given him as kudos, like his value as being
- 32:59Speaker 2: the one of one pick. It was the first pick
- 33:01Speaker 2: overall was his bad and the fact you could.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Catch, I mean maybe not one of one, but.
- 33:14Speaker 2: He was one one. He was the first pick in
- 33:16Speaker 2: the dragon.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Maybe he has lived up to a one to one, but.
- 33:19Speaker 2: His value was as a catcher, and his value was
- 33:22Speaker 2: as bad as a catcher, and they put him in
- 33:24Speaker 2: right field, like make him catch and make him hit
- 33:26Speaker 2: as a catcher, that's your value pirates. Okay, there's other
- 33:32Speaker 2: people that have been No, there's other people though that
- 33:35Speaker 2: were their value as a catcher and they're moved to
- 33:37Speaker 2: other positions and they lose their value because if you
- 33:40Speaker 2: could do what you do as a hitter and a catcher,
- 33:42Speaker 2: your value goes up as a first baseman, d h
- 33:45Speaker 2: outfield or left field or whatever it is. Ambassio talk
- 33:48Speaker 2: about the Orioles boom. You lose some value because catching
- 33:51Speaker 2: is so hard.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And and the Orioles with his bad speed and
- 33:56Speaker 1: his comps to Jordan Alvarez and Vladimiric Junior as sealing
- 34:00Speaker 1: as a hitter, like they don't want his body taking
- 34:03Speaker 1: that wear and tear. But that's the Orioles discussion. Did
- 34:07Speaker 1: you guys see the skins with the hot dog machine
- 34:10Speaker 1: last night? He's got this in his house and this
- 34:14Speaker 1: isn't the cy Young party. Isn't just the only time
- 34:16Speaker 1: he's he's broke this out. Man likes some hot dogs.
- 34:21Speaker 1: You guys like hot dogs, and you're add on the hot.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Dogs, love them, love hot dogs. Every time I go
- 34:29Speaker 2: to a Ballparkidie, like you know you travel for Apple,
- 34:32Speaker 2: I travel for Fox. When I go into the press
- 34:35Speaker 2: dining room and they have the hot dog roller machine
- 34:38Speaker 2: and they have all the First of all, I have
- 34:40Speaker 2: to put all the condiments because I'm a Chicago dog guy.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Now they don't have the pickles and all that stuff.
- 34:45Speaker 2: They're going on Chicago dog. But I got to go
- 34:47Speaker 2: catch it. Mustard relish onions just slattered on there. And
- 34:52Speaker 2: then oh, I'm all in.
- 34:55Speaker 1: So you don't like the hot dogs, you like all
- 34:57Speaker 1: the condiments.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Can you be a man of both? Can you be
- 35:02Speaker 2: a man of both?
- 35:05Speaker 1: Crazy?
- 35:07Speaker 3: Hot dog's good? But only a big leaguer would look
- 35:10Speaker 3: at it and say, oh, yeah, I went to the
- 35:11Speaker 3: press box and have a hot dog. The minor leaguers
- 35:14Speaker 3: when the bus stops to change bus drivers on a
- 35:17Speaker 3: twelve hour bus trip at.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Three in the morning and you roll you're getting the
- 35:23Speaker 2: Takeito's on the hot dog roller at seven eleven.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what Paul was missing. You can tell he
- 35:28Speaker 3: was a big leaguer. You're getting the teketos. You got
- 35:31Speaker 3: a hot I mean, you don't want one of the
- 35:33Speaker 3: front hot dogs. You want one of them mac ones
- 35:35Speaker 3: that's been on there since six probably like the dinner rush.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And now it's three in the morning.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Ooh, a tube fil a that's what it is.
- 35:44Speaker 2: You're hoping the lady at seven to eleven has the Cuban
- 35:47Speaker 2: Cubano press going so you can get a hot sandwich,
- 35:50Speaker 2: right Like, you're like, can we get the full hot
- 35:53Speaker 2: press Cubano? Maybe pizzas sometimes pizza is good in the
- 35:57Speaker 2: in the truck stops.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Man at that meat rolling doesn't know anything about.
- 36:02Speaker 2: This private jets And yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 1: You know Skien spent a good day or two in college,
- 36:10Speaker 1: so he may have, you know, eaten a couple of
- 36:12Speaker 1: peanut butter and jelly sandwiches himself.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Not Lanes.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say, yeah, air Force, Air Force,
- 36:20Speaker 3: they weren't. They weren't having that. They weren't having that
- 36:23Speaker 3: in the in the mess hall and l s U.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I mean it was raising canes or or walk on,
- 36:31Speaker 3: walk on.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Might the spread at L s U might be better
- 36:35Speaker 1: than what they get in Pittsburgh.
- 36:37Speaker 3: We get it again the n L m v P
- 36:39Speaker 3: bet MGM odds from starting the season. I mean, looking
- 36:42Speaker 3: at it now, hey, j at plus one at plus
- 36:46Speaker 3: one sixty, Why did we not take show?
- 36:48Speaker 2: Hey?
- 36:49Speaker 3: Was it?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Just?
- 36:49Speaker 3: Did we just not like free money? Because he's going
- 36:52Speaker 3: to be the m v P as long as he
- 36:53Speaker 3: stays healthy every single year.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, I mean show he's gonna win. But
- 37:03Speaker 2: if you bet like ten thousand dollars on that crotch,
- 37:05Speaker 2: he could have won like ten six hundred dollars. So
- 37:08Speaker 2: I mean you should have done that. I don't know
- 37:09Speaker 2: why you rich as hell? Why did you not do it?
- 37:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm I'm at I'm at my golf course right
- 37:15Speaker 3: now too. If you show my picture, I'll be that's
- 37:17Speaker 3: that's where I am about to play, about to play
- 37:19Speaker 3: a round of golf with nobody. But I mean Sorber
- 37:24Speaker 3: made a Schwarmer made maybe my golf course. But you know, yeah,
- 37:30Speaker 3: my pupput. Actually I can see right past my rape
- 37:33Speaker 3: pass my monitor. I can see my uh my putting
- 37:36Speaker 3: mat that I have in my basement. So I'm slowly
- 37:39Speaker 3: getting better. In one day I'll be allowed to golf
- 37:40Speaker 3: at Grove City, I mean Grove twenty three whenever I
- 37:44Speaker 3: whenever my friend invites me there, since he's a member.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Better call better call Griffy and see if he can
- 37:50Speaker 2: get you in.
- 37:51Speaker 3: I mean, now we know each other. He knows me
- 37:53Speaker 3: as that backwards. So I hope, I hope you can
- 37:56Speaker 3: call him sometime to come and be a guest on
- 37:58Speaker 3: our show.
- 37:59Speaker 2: So that's just that's just be he wasn't against anyways,
- 38:03Speaker 2: here's the thing. The three names up there, there was
- 38:06Speaker 2: a shorter uh so so sorry short Showta showed up.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Show there's too many sows. But schorver Soto and show
- 38:18Speaker 2: he show. He's going to win this every year as
- 38:19Speaker 2: long as he keeps healthy and he can pitch and hit.
- 38:22Speaker 2: I mean, there's no way you can lose this award.
- 38:25Speaker 2: He might if he keeps healthy, he might. This isn't
- 38:28Speaker 2: really going out that bar in the lamb, but he
- 38:30Speaker 2: might break Ferry up Barry Bond's record of seven consecutive
- 38:33Speaker 2: mbps because nobody can compete with it what he does,
- 38:36Speaker 2: because he pitches and hits, which you've never seen.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Before, not consecutive seven total for his career.
- 38:42Speaker 2: That's what I mean.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yep, Heidi, this is your read.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Ben MGM players will receive a no sweat token to
- 38:52Speaker 1: apply to any bet on Pro Football. To use the
- 38:55Speaker 1: token at a bet on Pro Football event to your
- 38:58Speaker 1: betslip and activate the token, receive bonus bets of the
- 39:01Speaker 1: bet that was made with the token. Loses if you
- 39:05Speaker 1: have a gambling problem or concern called one eight hundred gambler.
- 39:10Speaker 1: All right, sign for the hot corner, and it's a
- 39:13Speaker 1: it's a position that neither one of you ever played,
- 39:16Speaker 1: and you know, may may not have been able to handle.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I don't know catchers, but we've got some topics for you.
- 39:24Speaker 1: And Ben Rtvetz right at the age he didn't like
- 39:27Speaker 1: that comment.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Ben Wartvetz, Heidi, I was fully scared of the ball.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I'm not afraid.
- 39:33Speaker 1: I mean it's the hot corner for a reason.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I was fully scared of the ball. Trust me. Put
- 39:39Speaker 2: the gear on me. I'm not scared. Put a helmet
- 39:41Speaker 2: on me in a bat and not scared. Put me
- 39:42Speaker 2: in the infield. Scared your death.
- 39:46Speaker 3: He always worried. You always were equipment. You had a
- 39:49Speaker 3: huge elbow guard when you were hitting, you had huge
- 39:52Speaker 3: catchy equipment. You said, Nike, make me something bigger. I'm
- 39:54Speaker 3: gonna wear something bigger so I don't get hurt.
- 39:57Speaker 2: True, and I didn't get hurt, Thank you NI.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Designing Apparel. Now, Ben Rtva also a catcher. Red's claimed him.
- 40:08Speaker 1: He was starting for the Dodgers in the wild Card
- 40:10Speaker 1: series and really.
- 40:11Speaker 2: I mean wouldn't to play where HEII, this is the
- 40:15Speaker 2: problem they have. They have Travino and they have Stevenson.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Where's he gonna play? Is he gonna be a third catcher,
- 40:22Speaker 2: He's gonna be Homer Bailey's Homer Bailey's personal catcher. Where's
- 40:28Speaker 2: he going to play? That's my problem?
- 40:30Speaker 1: Like, well, they had injuries both Stevenson and Travino last year,
- 40:34Speaker 1: so having some depth in the minor league, someone who
- 40:38Speaker 1: can come up and hold his own. Maybe not offensively,
- 40:42Speaker 1: but he certainly he was big for the Dodgers down
- 40:44Speaker 1: the stretch. Will Smith was hurt. Remember leading into the postseason,
- 40:47Speaker 1: it was when when and if he'll be back? And
- 40:50Speaker 1: he was catching in the wild Card series, So I mean, yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 1: Stevenson's their guy, but he's been hurt quite a bit.
- 40:57Speaker 3: I hate this for Ben because I was there. But
- 40:59Speaker 3: if I my math right, and maybe we'll have to
- 41:01Speaker 3: get it finalized. I think he has an option left.
- 41:05Speaker 3: So you're talking about a guy with over three years
- 41:08Speaker 3: of service that you could have three big league catchers.
- 41:11Speaker 3: And I know Ben didn't hit very well, but you
- 41:13Speaker 3: know his value is there, and maybe the Reds are like, hey,
- 41:16Speaker 3: you know what, we can pass them through waivers, probably
- 41:18Speaker 3: the same thing the Dodgers were hoping. And then the
- 41:20Speaker 3: Dodgers would pay him a lot to go playing Triple A,
- 41:22Speaker 3: like you always need three catchers every season.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Well in case the backup gets hurt brutal.
- 41:34Speaker 1: You know, they said that Trevino was a big leader
- 41:37Speaker 1: on that team too, when.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Stevens Travino on here all the time, and then he
- 41:40Speaker 2: went to the Reds and he forgot about us. So
- 41:42Speaker 2: you know, some people change.
- 41:43Speaker 3: And he didn't like he didn't like AJ's questions. He
- 41:47Speaker 3: only liked talking to backup catchers like me because he
- 41:49Speaker 3: has a goal. He has a platinum glove and neither
- 41:52Speaker 3: of us have have gold gloves or platinum skillet.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Was that gol.
- 41:57Speaker 3: You could tell You could tell Aj how good he
- 41:59Speaker 3: was defensively by the way he hit. He's got two
- 42:02Speaker 3: thousand hits, that's what his gold globe is.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Also, listen, Craszy I'm gonna say this. I was a
- 42:07Speaker 2: finalist for a goal Globe numerous years. I just never one.
- 42:09Speaker 2: I don't know what that means. I don't know if
- 42:11Speaker 2: you can take that to arbitration, but I mean I
- 42:14Speaker 2: was a finalist.
- 42:16Speaker 1: Can we just talk about how hard it is to
- 42:18Speaker 1: play in Cincinnati? It's freezing cold.
- 42:22Speaker 2: And then it.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Goes from freezing cold to like a skillet with humility
- 42:29Speaker 1: and everything.
- 42:30Speaker 2: And listen, I'm gonna explain some of you. If you
- 42:33Speaker 2: can hit eighty one games in Cincinnati, it's like playing
- 42:35Speaker 2: in Colorado. Sign me up. Please? Oh wait, I missed
- 42:39Speaker 2: that one. Oh my bat's broken. Oh it goes in
- 42:41Speaker 2: the it's over great American small park. Trust me. No,
- 42:46Speaker 2: ain't no one complaining about playing in the Cincinnati to hit,
- 42:49Speaker 2: all right, And.
- 42:50Speaker 3: It's the big leagues. As last thing's Mill it said
- 42:53Speaker 3: there ain't no wind in the big leagues. Like it
- 42:56Speaker 3: doesn't matter what the temperature is, you always it's always
- 42:59Speaker 3: better playing in the big leagues cold hot. You can
- 43:02Speaker 3: complain about it, but nobody wants to listen.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Lasting Miller's never complained about anything that is true.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I was the best part when you're slapping hands at
- 43:25Speaker 1: the end of a game. Hey cratsy, what are you
- 43:27Speaker 1: wearing on your head today?
- 43:31Speaker 3: Chase Tingler's new assistant to the director of the head
- 43:34Speaker 3: coaching minor league coaching extra strategy coach for the Giants,
- 43:39Speaker 3: came on the show, so I had to wear my
- 43:41Speaker 3: Giants hat. I wasn't as good a Giant as a.
- 43:44Speaker 2: J Hum, but I was who left faster? Miria?
- 43:52Speaker 3: Oh, actually I had much better. I always tell people
- 43:55Speaker 3: I had. I had much better exit velocity with the Giants.
- 43:58Speaker 3: I left that clubhouse so fast. That was my exit
- 44:01Speaker 3: velocity with the Giants.
- 44:03Speaker 2: I mean, I made it a whole year, so I'm
- 44:04Speaker 2: proud of myself for that. But I will say this,
- 44:07Speaker 2: I'm more of a slap ask guy than a slap
- 44:08Speaker 2: hands guy.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Okay, that's fair. Would be a good show, wouldn't be
- 44:14Speaker 3: a segment? Good segment name slap hands?
- 44:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I think half the guys doing in
- 44:22Speaker 1: the line. Anyway, Why do you leave that? Speaking of
- 44:26Speaker 1: the opposite of great American Ballpark?
- 44:28Speaker 3: Why did you believe so fist in San Francisco Because
- 44:31Speaker 3: I stunk and they didn't
- 44:32Speaker 2: Want me me too grab
