- 0:00Speaker 1: For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show Podcast,
- 0:05Speaker 1: get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok for
- 0:10Speaker 1: Raw Doggett, four to seven every weekday on Radio Hauraki.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, mate. Ha ha ha ha ha. Hey.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Hey.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Jeez, missed you guys today. Hey, back at it, baby. Fellas. Hey.
- 0:23Speaker 2: You'll love this. Go on. Going home last night. Yeah.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Stopped at my dairy.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Oh.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Because I actually... Packet of darts, yeah. Yeah, yeah, packet
- 0:30Speaker 2: of darts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shoelaces? No, no shoelaces.
- 0:33Speaker 3: And as I was walking into the dairy, another fella
- 0:37Speaker 3: was walking into the dairy with me and he looked
- 0:40Speaker 3: at me and smiled and said... Don't worry, Jase, I'm
- 0:42Speaker 3: not going to give you my bike.
- 0:43Speaker 2: We outshat yesterday on the air. And I went, oh,
- 0:48Speaker 2: good on you, mate.
- 0:49Speaker 3: So that was quite funny.
- 0:52Speaker 2: What dairy was that? That's just the one up from
- 0:54Speaker 2: my house. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah.
- 0:56Speaker 3: It's very convenient. I've got like two dairies within 50
- 0:59Speaker 3: metres of me.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Well, did he know that as a result? Was it
- 1:01Speaker 2: the same dairy that you went into? Was it the
- 1:04Speaker 2: same dairy? Yes, it was the same deal. So did
- 1:06Speaker 2: he know it because you talked to him about it
- 1:08Speaker 2: or because he had listened to the radio? Because he
- 1:10Speaker 2: listened to the radio show. That's great.
- 1:12Speaker 4: And he must have listened to it literally in the
- 1:13Speaker 4: car on the way there or something.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:15Speaker 2: That's very funny. What a backbone.
- 1:18Speaker 3: That made me laugh. And the good thing was he
- 1:20Speaker 3: was a good bastard. Had a little chat and he
- 1:22Speaker 3: didn't follow me home.
- 1:23Speaker 2: That's good. You know what I mean?
- 1:25Speaker 3: That's the one thing about my house is if people do,
- 1:29Speaker 3: and I've had a few interactions with people at the
- 1:31Speaker 3: dairy and they will tend to follow me. and keep chatting,
- 1:35Speaker 3: and then I get to my driveway very quickly, and it's.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Like, okay, well, I'm not going to walk down until
- 1:41Speaker 2: you carry on walking.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I've had a couple of occasions where people have said
- 1:45Speaker 3: to me, oh, is that your place just there? And
- 1:48Speaker 3: I've gone, oh, no, no, it's a bit further down, mate,
- 1:50Speaker 3: a bit further down.
- 1:51Speaker 4: And they go, oh, yeah, that one, okay, that's good
- 1:53Speaker 4: to know.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's good to know. Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 4: And you're away most afternoons, eh, doing the radio.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. How are you guys today, man? How's life?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Pretty rooted.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 4: But pretty good, pretty good.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Am I?
- 2:07Speaker 4: I spent the afternoon. So today I was like, good,
- 2:10Speaker 4: I've just got my gaming podcast to do. Comes out tomorrow,
- 2:13Speaker 4: by the way, Extremely Casual Gamers.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It's great. So good, man. I love that podcast. Got
- 2:17Speaker 2: some exciting news on that front, Keezy. Oh, really? Yeah. Fuck,
- 2:20Speaker 2: that's awesome. Yeah. Love the sound of that.
- 2:21Speaker 3: So.
- 2:22Speaker 4: When I did that and around it, I had all
- 2:25Speaker 4: this admin I needed to sort. And I was getting
- 2:27Speaker 4: through it, getting through it. The last piece of admin
- 2:28Speaker 4: was hook up the printer I've ordered because we've never
- 2:30Speaker 4: had a printer. And I'm sick of coming to work
- 2:32Speaker 4: and having to scan. So like the $ 150 printer, boom.
- 2:35Speaker 4: It took me an hour and a half to make
- 2:37Speaker 4: the scan work so that it would send it to
- 2:39Speaker 4: my emails. Right. You don't just go scan, then type in.
- 2:42Speaker 4: You have to set up an email account on behalf
- 2:44Speaker 4: of the printer to send from.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you see.
- 2:47Speaker 4: And you have to approve it and use. And I'm
- 2:49Speaker 4: good with technology. It was a fucking ball ape, man.
- 2:52Speaker 2: It was a rig. Yeah, that is one thing I
- 2:55Speaker 2: just wouldn't even attempt, to be honest.
- 2:57Speaker 4: And honestly, I was at the point where, like, if
- 2:58Speaker 4: I didn't have an hour right now to actually read,
- 3:01Speaker 4: go on all these different websites, I would just be like, nah,
- 3:03Speaker 4: fuck it, I'm not doing it.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's one of those things, I just end up
- 3:05Speaker 2: throwing it through the wall. Yes. Or certainly want to. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And then, get this, I had my important documents ready
- 3:11Speaker 4: to go. I was like, okay, finally, I'll scan them,
- 3:13Speaker 4: then I'll go to work. Scan them all through. Send.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Error.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Didn't work.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Didn't work.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Everything I'd worked on hadn't worked, and so I came
- 3:21Speaker 4: to work and scanned them instead.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, good shit. Yeah, great stuff. Why don't you work
- 3:24Speaker 2: it out, though, Keezy? It'll all be worth it, won't it, mate?
- 3:26Speaker 2: It'll be great. It'll be really good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 2: You wonder what it's all for, don't you? Yeah. At
- 3:31Speaker 2: some point? Yes, I do. Yes. Yes.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Well, was it on this show we were talking about how– actually, no,
- 3:40Speaker 4: I think it was Romesh the other night when he
- 3:42Speaker 4: was talking at the comedy show. He was talking about,
- 3:45Speaker 4: which is relevant nowadays, there's heaps of Instagram videos of
- 3:47Speaker 4: people being like, you should wake up at 5 a.m.,
- 3:49Speaker 4: you should go for a run, you should do this,
- 3:51Speaker 4: you should look at yourself in the mirror and say,
- 3:53Speaker 4: I'm going to be a CEO or something, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 3:56Speaker 4: And that's great if you're wired like that, but if
- 3:57Speaker 4: you're not, You should try and do as little work
- 4:00Speaker 4: as possible.
- 4:00Speaker 2: For as much money as you can.
- 4:04Speaker 4: And spend as much time as you can doing stuff
- 4:06Speaker 4: that you actually like.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I agree.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Well, John Cleese was a big advocate of that in
- 4:12Speaker 3: terms of doing fuck all work.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Getting to a point where you can, if possible.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And he said, why do people get obsessed with working
- 4:19Speaker 2: all the time? It's the opposite. He loves being on
- 4:22Speaker 2: a beach and just. Chilling out. A thousand percent. If
- 4:24Speaker 2: I could live my life drinking piss on beaches around
- 4:26Speaker 2: the world, that'd be me. That'd be nice. Absolutely. But
- 4:28Speaker 2: in order to do that, you have to do a shitload.
- 4:31Speaker 2: If you're not born into it, it's a struggle. So
- 4:33Speaker 2: then you want to build businesses that have got passive
- 4:37Speaker 2: income that you set them up, you can have people
- 4:39Speaker 2: run them, and then you can leave. Yes, and then
- 4:41Speaker 2: they just send you the cash. Yeah, that's right. All
- 4:43Speaker 2: the cash just goes into the account. Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 4: The Hauraki Beach Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Now that's good listening. And it's live. What are you
- 4:55Speaker 2: listening to there? Oh, me?
- 4:57Speaker 3: Oh, sorry.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I was listening to the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Right.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Four to seven weekdays. Yeah, that's quite specific.
- 5:08Speaker 4: And I heart radio.
- 5:10Speaker 2: What, oh?
- 5:11Speaker 1: Cheers.
- 5:13Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I've got to set up some kind of cash
- 5:19Speaker 3: business before I.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Cashy business. You know, before I leave the old rager.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Just to keep it, you know, flying. Or, you know,
- 5:26Speaker 2: my wife and I.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I don't do that on the potty, Josh.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I think I might have mentioned it before, but, you know,
- 5:40Speaker 3: she was talking to this couple at her work who
- 5:44Speaker 3: have retired early.
- 5:46Speaker 2: And, you know, they've got a bit of money. They've
- 5:49Speaker 2: got a bit of money, but all they do is
- 5:51Speaker 2: house sit around the country. Well, there's a website. There's
- 5:53Speaker 2: a website that you can go on. Yeah. And so
- 5:56Speaker 2: that's a worldwide thing. Yes. I had a woman that,
- 5:58Speaker 2: I mean, I've had thousands, but this particular one, she
- 6:05Speaker 2: was building a website. And over the course of her
- 6:09Speaker 2: building this website, she was in Singapore, Indonesia, one other place,
- 6:16Speaker 2: and then a house in the country in France.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yes.
- 6:19Speaker 2: So her and her fiancé- You just go around and
- 6:21Speaker 2: you just house it.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:22Speaker 2: And it's just a website and that's it. So they
- 6:25Speaker 2: just go around doing that. They pay nothing for accommodation.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And you just go around feeding the cats. and staying
- 6:30Speaker 2: in these outrageous places as well. That's exactly right. Well,
- 6:32Speaker 2: why would you not do that? Yeah, I mean, that's
- 6:34Speaker 2: pretty good.
- 6:34Speaker 3: But like this woman was saying, you know, and they
- 6:37Speaker 3: go to these beautiful parts of the country, and she
- 6:39Speaker 3: didn't mention overseas, but my uncle does the same thing,
- 6:42Speaker 3: where him and his wife, they've got a little sort
- 6:44Speaker 3: of set up in New Plymouth, but they spend most
- 6:47Speaker 3: of their time just cruising around the country, looking after
- 6:48Speaker 3: other people's.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Houses, feeding the cats. You know what you do. You know,
- 6:52Speaker 2: and beaches, and usually pretty nice places.
- 6:56Speaker 4: I wonder if, it's probably.
- 6:59Speaker 4: My brother-in-law has a setup and it's fucking awesome over
- 7:02Speaker 4: in Amsterdam where he's 35 now, I think. Him and
- 7:07Speaker 4: his partner both work there. But in Amsterdam, they have
- 7:09Speaker 4: interest-free home loans for first home buyers. They bought the
- 7:13Speaker 4: third floor in one of the classic Amsterdam houses and
- 7:16Speaker 4: they're paying that off. However, the cost per night is
- 7:19Speaker 4: 400 or something euro to stay in that old part
- 7:22Speaker 4: of Amsterdam. That's how much they Airbnb their floor out for.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 4: And one night of that is enough to cover them
- 7:29Speaker 4: working four days or five days from Spain, which is
- 7:32Speaker 4: an hour flight away or something. And so someone will
- 7:34Speaker 4: book then their house for the weekend or maybe three
- 7:37Speaker 4: or four nights, and they'll literally just go to Spain
- 7:39Speaker 4: or something and work remote from there.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And make money. It's the one, isn't it?
- 7:43Speaker 4: It's fucking awesome.
- 7:44Speaker 2: My God. Yeah.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Actually, my father-in-law had just been– spent 10 or 15
- 7:51Speaker 3: days in Italy just recently.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Like, literally just recently.
- 7:55Speaker 3: And him and his partner were telling us that Italy's
- 7:58Speaker 3: falling apart, basically.
- 7:59Speaker 2: It's broke.
- 8:00Speaker 3: And everything over there, you know, in terms of housing
- 8:03Speaker 3: and stuff like that, is fucking nothing.
- 8:05Speaker 4: You can get a dollar house in those old villages.
- 8:06Speaker 2: It's just ridiculous. But they're all fucked, though. Yeah, well,
- 8:09Speaker 2: they will be. But, you know, if you're only paying
- 8:11Speaker 2: 10 bucks, I think.
- 8:13Speaker 4: By the coast it'll be fine.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:15Speaker 4: But certainly interior Italy, the weird little towns and stuff, yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 4: I've watched a few things about that.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It'd be lovely. Yeah. Let's just do it, eh, fellas?
- 8:23Speaker 2: I agree. I say that to my wife all the time.
- 8:24Speaker 2: It's certainly the arms that Zara and I are having.
- 8:26Speaker 2: We're just sort of.
- 8:29Speaker 4: Yeah, we've got a few years' work left in us,
- 8:30Speaker 4: that's for sure. The yarns I have with my wife is,
- 8:33Speaker 4: when are we moving to Christchurch? That's her yarn.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the dream. And I'm like, yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 3: My regular yarn with my wife is, fuck this shit,
- 8:41Speaker 3: let's just sell her and just cruise around.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And she goes, yeah, but... We need a proper house.
- 8:46Speaker 2: You do need a proper house, Jess. I'm like, nah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: fuck that shit, man. Where you at with the apartment?
- 8:50Speaker 2: You bourgeoisie bullshit.
- 8:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but your favourite thing is going into your lounge
- 8:55Speaker 4: and watching your TV and having a coffee and punching
- 8:57Speaker 4: a dart on your dick.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Cleaning up the duck shit.
- 8:59Speaker 4: And cleaning up duck poos.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, duck poos.
- 9:01Speaker 4: So you don't want that to be different.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Look, I know it's stupid. I know it is. But
- 9:05Speaker 2: it's just a fantasy in my head. Yeah, it's lots
- 9:06Speaker 2: of fantasies. It's nice to have those fantasies. All it
- 9:09Speaker 2: is is essentially what it comes down to is you
- 9:11Speaker 2: hate your life and you want something else. You know
- 9:13Speaker 2: what I mean? And you've got 25 different daydreams that
- 9:15Speaker 2: all seem like they'd be better, but they probably won't
- 9:17Speaker 2: be because when you get in there, there'll still be
- 9:20Speaker 2: you being a miserable fuck.
- 9:21Speaker 4: You look in the mirror and it's still your piece
- 9:23Speaker 4: of shit.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It'll still be you. Here I am.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It'll still be you carrying that massive burden on your
- 9:30Speaker 3: shoulders every day.
- 9:31Speaker 2: On that huge mountain between your legs. What's happening with
- 9:34Speaker 2: your apartment idea? It's still going? Yeah. Funnily enough. Funnily
- 9:38Speaker 2: enough with Jason Hoyt. No, no. Because we've had a
- 9:42Speaker 2: lot of trades.
- 9:43Speaker 4: True story this with Jason Hoyt.
- 9:45Speaker 3: We've had a lot of trades because, as you know,
- 9:46Speaker 3: we're getting the en suite done. And every tradie that
- 9:50Speaker 3: we deal with has said the same thing to us,
- 9:53Speaker 3: which is, now, how long are you going.
- 9:55Speaker 2: To be here? Oh, I thought it was going to be,
- 9:57Speaker 2: why is she with you?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, well, that as well. How long are you
- 10:01Speaker 3: going to be here? Are you going to be here,
- 10:02Speaker 3: are you looking to sell or are you.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Looking to stay for some time? If you're staying, we'll
- 10:05Speaker 2: do a good job. If you're going to leave, we'll
- 10:06Speaker 2: do a shit job. Well, not necessarily a shit job,
- 10:10Speaker 2: but a good job.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Yeah. So we can do this. If you're thinking of
- 10:15Speaker 3: leaving in a year, that'll be fine.
- 10:16Speaker 2: We've done some renos and we've just... We've done, like, all...
- 10:19Speaker 2: We did copper fitting. You just want it to last forever. Yes.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Whether you're staying in it or not. Do the best
- 10:24Speaker 2: job you can and don't be a fucking arsehole. Yeah, yeah. Well,
- 10:27Speaker 2: we always go, well, nah, just do the cheapest.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Hence the lino.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But the guy.
- 10:37Speaker 3: My wife was telling me today, the guy came over
- 10:38Speaker 3: and he said, but, you know, I mean, your house
- 10:40Speaker 3: on the exterior is not great. But he said, but
- 10:44Speaker 3: you've got a brand new roof.
- 10:45Speaker 2: You've got a.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Heat pump and stuff as well.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, heat pump. You've got good walls. You've got blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 10:51Speaker 2: all this sort of stuff. You'll be sweet as. It'll
- 10:53Speaker 2: be easy to sell this place. Oh, yeah. And we went, well,
- 10:55Speaker 2: my wife went, excellent.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Well, yeah, you should sell, get an apartment for cheaper
- 11:00Speaker 4: than your house.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Obviously. Well.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 11:04Speaker 4: And then so you've got a little bit of cash
- 11:06Speaker 4: to go and float around and, you know.
- 11:08Speaker 3: Well, we do have a fantasy, but I'll tell you
- 11:09Speaker 3: about that some other time.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Wait, is it sexual? Nah. Sadly not, maybe. Give us
- 11:14Speaker 2: a couple of those. Okay. Give us a couple of
- 11:16Speaker 2: those fantasies. How are you going with your sexual fantasies? Anyway,
- 11:19Speaker 2: have you ticked them all off?
- 11:21Speaker 3: No.
- 11:22Speaker 2: They just sort of ebbed away? Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 3: You give up on them. It's like a cloud of
- 11:28Speaker 3: smoke and it just dissipates. When you first blow.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It out, it's.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Big stream of smoke that then just dissipates into the atmosphere.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It does. How are your sexual fantasies, Keezy?
- 11:40Speaker 4: I haven't even started. I've got a lot to tick off.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:44Speaker 4: The first one is to listen.
- 11:45Speaker 2: The threesome? Oh, yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 4: Listen to the Hodaki Big Show, 4 till 7 on
- 11:49Speaker 4: Radio Hodaki. Obviously, I'll have an affair first.
- 11:53Speaker 2: You're still doing that, are you?
- 11:54Speaker 4: Based on last night's show, yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Good shit, mate. Nah, just joking.
