Transcript
- 0:10Hello, everybody, and welcome to another edition of the ABA Coffee In The Park podcast.
- 0:14My name is Cam Milliken, and I am here with my co-host extraordinaire, Jennifer Herrick, the executive director of the Acheson Business Association.
- 0:23Hello, Jennifer.
- 0:25Hello, Cam.
- 0:26How are you this morning?
- 0:27Oh, it's a great day.
- 0:29The sun is shining.
- 0:30It's nice.
- 0:31It's just a good spring day.
- 0:33You know, you were telling me you looked up the other day, and you saw the flock of geese.
- 0:39Yes.
- 0:39Yes.
- 0:39And you were fascinated.
- 0:40They were doing that V thing.
- 0:42The V thing.
- 0:42And they were like, it was huge.
- 0:44Like it was this massive V of geese.
- 0:47And my initial thought was poor guy at the front has to lead the way.
- 0:51If he, if he.
- 0:52It's a lot of geese pressure.
- 0:53That's pressure.
- 0:54If he slips up, do all the geese just fall to the ground?
- 0:57I don't know.
- 0:57And then I saw the guy at the very back, and I felt bad.
- 1:00He's the last guy in the V.
- 1:03Like poor goose.
- 1:04Like anyway.
- 1:05And then I asked you where you thought they were going.
- 1:07Alberta Beach, I think.
- 1:08Yeah, that's where I think they're going.
- 1:09Which is like an hour from here.
- 1:11But you said the golf course.
- 1:13Yeah, probably.
- 1:14Probably the golf course.
- 1:15But anyway, yeah, so you know that it's spring when you see the geese is around, and that's pretty cool, I think.
- 1:21The geese are the gooses?
- 1:22Yeah, I don't know what, I already called them a gaggle of geese.
- 1:27We had two out in front of our office the other day.
- 1:29Fred and Wilma.
- 1:29Fred and Wilma.
- 1:30And they were just sitting there.
- 1:32But they haven't been back.
- 1:34I think they were just there for a snack.
- 1:35Well, I honked at them when I drove away, and maybe that scared them off.
- 1:38But nonetheless, we digress.
- 1:40Hey everybody, thanks for listening today.
- 1:44Jennifer, do you have something to tell us about some very important people?
- 1:47We would like to thank our gold corporate sponsors, which include the Myshak Group of Companies, Genics, Parkland County, and Bow Valley Credit Union.
- 1:55Yeah, and without them, we would not be able to do what we do.
- 1:58So thank you all very, very much for helping us.
- 2:02Today is a very special show.
- 2:05Once again, a very special show.
- 2:08Well, every show is very special, but today is very, very special, because again, it's just you and me today.
- 2:17We don't have a guest.
- 2:18But that's okay.
- 2:19No, that's good, because today our theme is, tell everybody our theme.
- 2:24Pet Peeves. Pet Peeves! Get ready.
- 2:27Buckle up.
- 2:28Sit down.
- 2:29This is the Pet Peeves show.
- 2:31Yes.
- 2:32And because you and I, in the course of our conversation, We have a lot of Pet Peeves.
- 2:39Some days we have a lot of Pet Peeves.
- 2:41And I thought, and you thought, we thought that it would be a good idea to one day just do a show about...
- 2:48Everybody has Pet Peeves.
- 2:50If you're out there listening to us and you say, I don't have any Pet Peeves.
- 2:52You're lying.
- 2:53That's one of my Pet Peeves, is that people say, I don't have any Pet Peeves.
- 2:57Because everybody has a Pet Peeve about something.
- 2:59And I guarantee you, the ones we're about to talk about, people will be nodding their heads saying, yes, you will be driving and we will say our Pet Peeve.
- 3:08And you will nod and go, yes, that is a Pet Peeve that I have as well.
- 3:11Before we talk about Pet Peeves, Cam, tell our listeners where we're coming from.
- 3:16That's right.
- 3:19I got so worked up about Pet Peeves.
- 3:21I know.
- 3:21We are coming to you from the Wall Coffee Roasters in the heart of beautiful downtown Acheson.
- 3:29That's right.
- 3:30So that means if you hear some noises in the background, coffee machines whirring, people talking, kids screaming, I don't think there's any kids in here today. Not today.
- 3:38It's because we're live.
- 3:39We're live today at the coffee shop.
- 3:42And if you've never been to the Wall Coffee Roasters, you need to come.
- 3:46You do.
- 3:47Because they have great drinks.
- 3:49And spring and summer drinks.
- 3:51Like the JC.
- 3:52The JC drink.
- 3:54This is a drink that Jennifer and I invented.
- 3:58And Michael, the owner of the Wall Coffee Consortium.
- 4:02Limited time.
- 4:03Summer only.
- 4:04Summer only.
- 4:05Come in, order the JC.
- 4:06Very refreshing.
- 4:07It's awesome.
- 4:08It's sparkly.
- 4:09It's refreshing.
- 4:10It's got bubbles.
- 4:12It's amazing.
- 4:12And if you order it, the JC, you'll get 10% off your JC order.
- 4:18That's right.
- 4:18If you say, I heard Cam and Jennifer talk about the JC on the podcast, they will give you 10% off.
- 4:25Who wouldn't want 10% off?
- 4:26Everybody wants 10% off.
- 4:28These days?
- 4:28This.
- 4:29That's exactly.
- 4:30Yeah.
- 4:30That's one of my pet peeves.
- 4:31Okay.
- 4:31Let's start.
- 4:32Okay.
- 4:32So I'm going to start.
- 4:34Here's my, this is my first pet peeve.
- 4:36So I was at Costco on Saturday.
- 4:38First mistake on an Easter weekend.
- 4:39But I love Costco.
- 4:40I know, but I love Costco.
- 4:42I go, I could go there every day to Costco, but things are, I did, it's, it's driving me.
- 4:48It's, I'm going, first of all, number one, their bagels went up in price.
- 4:51Well, I think everything's gone up in price at Costco.
- 4:54I know, but, but there's some things that should just never go up.
- 4:58But okay, let's get down to the nitty gritty of Costco pet peeve.
- 5:01Here is my number one.
- 5:03Okay, number one.
- 5:04Costco pet peeve.
- 5:05Yes.
- 5:05Is cart drivers.
- 5:09Yes.
- 5:09People driving their carts in Costco.
- 5:13And they just cut you off, and they just go in front of you, and they don't signal, they don't give you a hand signal.
- 5:20They come out of the aisle into the main thoroughfare.
- 5:23It should be like bicycles hand signals.
- 5:24It's unbelievable, and it drives me crazy.
- 5:26Okay, so can I just make a point?
- 5:29Yeah.
- 5:29And I'm sorry to bring this up.
- 5:32But this is the one thing that I wish we would have kept from the days of when we were in COVID.
- 5:36Oh, I know where you're going with this.
- 5:38Do you?
- 5:38Yeah.
- 5:39The little arrows.
- 5:41I know.
- 5:41Up the aisle that showed you which way to go.
- 5:44There is nothing worse than going down the aisle of Costco and people have their stupid carts parked right in the middle.
- 5:51Well, exactly.
- 5:52And so like, okay, people, you park your car in the middle of the aisle.
- 5:56Do you do this with your cars?
- 5:58Exactly.
- 5:58Do you just in the middle of the roadway, stop, get out of your car, go to the bush to go or whatever you're doing, and just leave your car in the...
- 6:05Move over.
- 6:06Move over.
- 6:07Park your cart on the side.
- 6:08Now, I have to be honest.
- 6:09Do you do this?
- 6:11Well, I don't stop in the middle of the road.
- 6:13And then, but in COVID, I didn't like those arrows, but that's because it was a bigger issue.
- 6:18It was COVID.
- 6:19But now don't you wish the arrows were back?
- 6:22That's because, you know, people at Costco, I think you need a cart driver license.
- 6:28Like before you can get a cart, you have to show your cart driver license so that you know how to drive your cart through Costco.
- 6:34Do you know the other problem?
- 6:35So carts are so giant, they take up a lot of real estate.
- 6:38And I know Costco does that on purpose because they want you to fill your cart.
- 6:41Well, they do.
- 6:41The other thing that bothers me is people who tailgate you in their cart, and then they hit your heels.
- 6:47BAM! And it's like people, people.
- 6:51And you don't have cart insurance, so you're, you know, so...
- 6:53I don't think I've ever been hit by a cart.
- 6:56Oh, I have, I have.
- 6:57And it hurts.
- 6:59It hurts for a long time.
- 7:00Or they come out of the aisle and they smack right into ya.
- 7:03And it's like people, people, people.
- 7:05And your eggs or whatever just all over the place in your cart.
- 7:09You know what?
- 7:09Let's talk about another pet peeve at Costco.
- 7:11Because this also has to do with traffic and cart issues.
- 7:14Yes.
- 7:15The sample area.
- 7:16This, okay.
- 7:17Can I just say people, one sample, one sample, not six.
- 7:22Not, it's when the lady's cutting it up, you don't go over and grab six of them.
- 7:27Other people want samples.
- 7:29I don't care if you have, like you said before, 12 children.
- 7:32I exactly.
- 7:33Take one.
- 7:34No, I agree.
- 7:35And, you know, just for example, take say it's a mozza stick and they cut the mozza stick into three and they put them in the little white cups and they put them out on the tray.
- 7:44And all of a sudden, somebody just swoops in, takes 12 of them, takes them to the cart with their whole family.
- 7:50And then you got to wait.
- 7:51Literally their whole family, 12 children, grandparents, six uncles, five aunts.
- 7:56And you're standing, you've been waiting for 10 minutes to have a mozza stick.
- 8:00It's not acceptable.
- 8:01It's unbelievable.
- 8:02Really.
- 8:03There is etiquette.
- 8:04There is Costco sample etiquette.
- 8:07Costco etiquette.
- 8:07You know what?
- 8:08I think there should be a sign when you walk in Costco that everybody should have to read Costco etiquette.
- 8:12I think everybody should have to sign an agreement.
- 8:15You are going to abide by the Costco rules because it just gets out of hand.
- 8:19Well, you know what else is out of hand?
- 8:20What's that?
- 8:21The lineups.
- 8:22Okay.
- 8:22And people don't, they have no clue.
- 8:25No.
- 8:25Now, you were telling me the other day, your biggest pet peeve at the lineups is the self-serve.
- 8:31What do you call that?
- 8:32The self-checkout.
- 8:33Self-checkout.
- 8:34Self-checkout at Costco is there.
- 8:37If I want to run in and grab eggs and milk and something quick.
- 8:40No.
- 8:41You are not supposed to be there with 30 items in your cart.
- 8:43Exactly.
- 8:44The guy ahead of you has like 4,000 items in the cart.
- 8:47He's going through the self-serve or whatever you call that.
- 8:50Yes, and they don't even know how to use it.
- 8:51No, they don't know how to use it.
- 8:52And they're like putting the thing on and taking it off.
- 8:55Please remove that.
- 8:57The lady's got to come over.
- 8:59Please remove that from the cart.
- 9:01And it drives me nuts.
- 9:03That's what lines are for.
- 9:04Exactly.
- 9:05So limited number of items in the self-serve.
- 9:09I think self-serve should be five items or less.
- 9:11I agree.
- 9:12Five items or less.
- 9:13And so I just need to say it again.
- 9:16I love Costco.
- 9:17I love it.
- 9:17It's your favorite place.
- 9:18I do.
- 9:19If I'm feeling down and kind of blue, I just go to Costco.
- 9:23You know, here's the thing about Costco.
- 9:25It's the anticipation of today there's going to be something new.
- 9:29You're right.
- 9:29Like it's like when something new comes out, it's like, oh, it's like, whoa, this is amazing.
- 9:37That's for me.
- 9:38That's what it is.
- 9:38But I have learned that if you see something and you're like, I'll get it next time.
- 9:43No, buy it.
- 9:44You have to get it now because it won't be there next time.
- 9:47I get in so much trouble from my wife for this because I'll say, let's get it next week.
- 9:51And she's like, no, no.
- 9:52And then I go back next week and it's gone.
- 9:54It's gone.
- 9:55And I, oh, then I feel, I feel terrible.
- 9:58I go to the front.
- 9:59I say to the Costco people at the desk, you know that whatever it was that I wanted, do you have any more?
- 10:06And they get in their computer.
- 10:08No, we don't have any.
- 10:09I'll tell you what.
- 10:10So let me just name one.
- 10:12Balderson sliced cheese.
- 10:14I love Balderson.
- 10:16No, I do.
- 10:17Balderson sliced.
- 10:19I used to buy it.
- 10:20I loved it because it was sliced.
- 10:22They haven't had Balderson sliced cheese for like eight months now.
- 10:27They still have Balderson cheese, but you have to slice it on your own.
- 10:30And I went to the lady at the desk.
- 10:32I said, excuse me, will you be getting the Balderson sliced back?
- 10:38And she said, no, it doesn't look like it in the near future.
- 10:41I said, if you had told me this at the time, you would have stocked up.
- 10:45I would have bought like 20 packages.
- 10:48Probably cheese goes bad, though, too.
- 10:50Well, but they don't tell you and you don't know.
- 10:52You don't know.
- 10:53So see, I agree with you 100%.
- 10:55You got to get it while it's there or you don't know.
- 10:58You just bought something there.
- 11:00You bought a wagon.
- 11:01I did.
- 11:02A wagon.
- 11:02Yeah.
- 11:03Because you're the team manager of your son's baseball team.
- 11:06Well, that's a whole other pet peeve.
- 11:07That's another pet peeve?
- 11:08Yeah.
- 11:08Do you want to go there now or later?
- 11:09Not yet, I'm not done with Costco.
- 11:10Not done with Costco.
- 11:11OK, so yeah, so that's my...
- 11:13But I still love Costco.
- 11:15Costco, I love you.
- 11:16And so don't ever raise the price of your hot dogs.
- 11:19They say they won't.
- 11:20No, they say they won't.
- 11:21Don't ever raise the price of your chickens, your roast rotisserie chickens.
- 11:26Yeah, rotisserie chickens.
- 11:28I like those rotisserie chickens.
- 11:31And I like their soft serve ice cream.
- 11:33It's good ice cream.
- 11:34OK, but this is a bit of another pet peeve.
- 11:36Yes.
- 11:38The way they have the food court set up now.
- 11:41I know.
- 11:44No, seriously.
- 11:45Seriously.
- 11:46Like, remember the days when you could easily get a table and people didn't linger?
- 11:50People linger far too long.
- 11:52OK, can I?
- 11:53And I'm just going to say people don't hate me.
- 11:56Don't hate.
- 11:56But I'm going to just say it.
- 11:58When I sit at a table, if it's just me by myself or me and my wife or me and my daughter, whoever, and it's just us two and that leaves two spots.
- 12:06If you come and sit beside me, no offense, no offense.
- 12:11Don't talk my ear off.
- 12:13I just don't, they just talk, talk, talk.
- 12:15I'm trying to eat my hot dog, trying to do my poutine, and they just talk, talk, talk about nothing.
- 12:21And I just, I just, I need a bit of alone time at the Costco table.
- 12:26Costco is a little overwhelming.
- 12:27It is.
- 12:27And so no offense.
- 12:29If you come sit with me, hi is good.
- 12:31Hi, how are you?
- 12:32Good, good.
- 12:33But I don't need to hear about your grandchildren, your dogs.
- 12:37I don't need to hear about, you know, the weather.
- 12:40I know what the weather is.
- 12:41I live here, too.
- 12:42So that's just what I'm saying.
- 12:43Oh.
- 12:44That's my pet peeve.
- 12:45Yeah.
- 12:46I know people now are thinking, he's so mean.
- 12:48I'm not.
- 12:49I just don't want to talk at Costco.
- 12:53And that's fair.
- 12:54Yeah, I think it is.
- 12:55Yeah.
- 12:55I know.
- 12:56Others will be right now.
- 12:57People right now will be so mad.
- 12:58They're going to send us emails, Cam.
- 13:00Do you know what else used to be a huge pet peeve?
- 13:03No.
- 13:03But I don't do it anymore.
- 13:04What's that?
- 13:04It's the gas line up.
- 13:06You know, that's like the nozzle.
- 13:07It's okay.
- 13:08It's long enough to like go around.
- 13:10But no, no, no.
- 13:13And then some people don't realize you have to have a Costco card.
- 13:16Yes.
- 13:16And so they're like turning or they're like pushing the buttons.
- 13:19And then the line up is back up.
- 13:20They're like calling the guy, the attendant door, excuse me, excuse me.
- 13:24And the guy's like, are you a member?
- 13:25No, I didn't know you had to be a member.
- 13:27Now you've held up for like four hours.
- 13:29Everybody in line.
- 13:31It's like people.
- 13:33But there's cheaper gas now in Spruce Grove, so I don't have to go to Costco anymore.
- 13:37I know Costco, you're not doing a very good job.Not anymore.
- 13:39No, you're not, no, you're not.
- 13:41So anyway, so yeah.
- 13:43So is there anything else about Costco?
- 13:45Because you were complaining about the parking lot the other day.
- 13:49Again, people in the parking lot.
- 13:51Like this is not this is not F1.
- 13:54This is not Indy, this is not demo car derby.
- 13:57Like the rules of the road apply in Costco parking lot.
- 14:04The other thing is, if you see there is a lineup of cars that are trying to park, you don't need to back in.
- 14:12Okay, don't back in.
- 14:13Listen, I agree.
- 14:15The stalls are large enough.
- 14:17I know.
- 14:17At Costco, there is no need to back in.
- 14:19No, there's no need to back in.
- 14:21A, number one, if you have a backup camera, use it.
- 14:25Number two, just look around, see, oh, there's 18 cars waiting.
- 14:30Maybe I'll just drive in instead of...
- 14:32And no offense again, no offense.
- 14:35I just can't deal with it.
- 14:37And yet we still keep going.
- 14:39I love Costco.
- 14:40I love Costco.
- 14:41I'll never stop going.
- 14:43I have to admit, there's times I've been to Costco twice in one day.
- 14:47But I've kind of avoided some of the...
- 14:49But you know what?
- 14:49It depends what you need, because the business Costco...
- 14:51I know, you go to the business Costco.
- 14:53I do, because it's great, because nobody's there.
- 14:55But you can't get a hot dog.
- 14:56No, you can't get a hot dog.
- 14:58Or a chicken.
- 14:58And all those fun things in the middle aisles, you can't get that either.
- 15:02And the other thing about the business Costco is, have you ever...
- 15:05They put all the meat, all the dairy, all the fruits and vegetables in one giant room. It is freezing! You have to spend too much time in that cooler.
- 15:13Well, it's about 4,000 below in there.
- 15:14I know.
- 15:15And you walk in there, and you're just like...
- 15:16By the time you're done, you come out, you got hypothermia, you're shaking, and it takes you an hour to warm up.
- 15:22I agree.
- 15:22But other than that, the business Costco...
- 15:24The business Costco is the bees knees.
- 15:25Because they sell cool things.
- 15:26They do.
- 15:26They do.
- 15:27Like if you need a full stove kitchen unit for your restaurant, they have it.
- 15:32If you need a mixer that can make 400 loaves of bread...
- 15:352000 lbs of pickles, they have it.
- 15:37Yes.
- 15:37I saw the other day, I was at the business Costco.
- 15:40They had an oil drum full of olives.
- 15:43I know.
- 15:43And I thought, who would buy that?
- 15:46But I thought...
- 15:46Again, it's business.
- 15:47It's for restaurants.
- 15:48I know.
- 15:48Could you imagine?
- 15:49I'll take an oil drum of olives, please.
- 15:51Like that's incredible.
- 15:52It really is.
- 15:53Like where else?
- 15:54Nowhere else but Costco.
- 15:55I know.
- 15:56And now the business Costco is close to the Chick-fil-A.
- 15:59So if you go to the business, you don't get a hot dog.
- 16:02You go over to the Chick-fil-A.
- 16:03Yes.
- 16:04And you get a Chick-fil-A.
- 16:05We have no pet peeves about Chick-fil-A.
- 16:07No, I love Chick-fil-A.
- 16:08Yes.
- 16:09I'm so glad Chick-fil-A came to Edmonton.
- 16:11If you're listening to us and you don't have a Chick-fil-A in your hometown, I'm sorry.
- 16:15Because it's amazing.
- 16:17It really is.
- 16:18I love Chick-fil-A.
- 16:19We tried to get the Chick-fil-A owner to come on our podcast.
- 16:22Well, maybe, maybe, maybe they will still. They are just busy.
- 16:24No, they might still.
- 16:24They have to check with corporate because you can't just go on a podcast.
- 16:29You got to check with corporate.
- 16:30So, anyways, I don't know why.
- 16:347,000 people listen to us.
- 16:36That's like 7,000 Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches right there.
- 16:41Or that's like 5 million chicken nuggets right there.
- 16:45That's amazing.
- 16:46I'd come on it like that.
- 16:48So, because they won't come on, go to Wing Snob instead.
- 16:51Go to Wing Snob.
- 16:52Mike Chadi.
- 16:53Wing Snob! They just opened their 10th store in Edmonton.
- 16:57Yes.
- 16:58And Mike Chadi told me they had 50 people lined up out the door the morning they opened.
- 17:02Seriously.
- 17:02Love their wings.
- 17:03For Wing Snob.
- 17:04No, it's amazing.
- 17:05It's on Gateway Boulevard.
- 17:06I only know this actually.
- 17:08I'm going to make a confession because on Sunday, Easter Sunday, I went to, we went to the new Krispy Kreme donuts.
- 17:17Just to get a Krispy Kreme.
- 17:18Because it's Easter Sunday.
- 17:20Normally, I would never go there because they're just way too sweet.
- 17:22They are very sweet.
- 17:23And Wing Snob's right next door.
- 17:24Now, okay, can I just talk for a second about the Krispy Kreme donuts?
- 17:28The lineup at the Krispy...
- 17:30Is this the Pet Peeve?
- 17:32Okay.
- 17:32People, when you get to the donut case, know what you want.
- 17:37I'm not even kidding.
- 17:39Like, is it that hard to choose between a chocolate dip and a sprinkles and a bunny donut?
- 17:45You're there to get a Krispy Kreme.
- 17:48And if you're standing in line, you should know what you're getting.
- 17:50The lady in head of me ordered like five dozen.
- 17:53And you'd think by dozen number two, you'd know exactly what you want.
- 17:58Nope, it just, she couldn't.
- 17:59And anyway, it took a long time to get my Krispy Kreme.
- 18:04Not like, you know who's got donuts down?
- 18:06Yeah, donuts down.
- 18:08No, you do.
- 18:09Donuts down.
- 18:10I like that.
- 18:10The Donut Mill in Red Deer.
- 18:12Yes.
- 18:13Yes.
- 18:14I was there a week ago.
- 18:15I tell ya, they could have a line up out the door and those people move you through it.
- 18:20And not only they sell more than just donuts, they sell like the sandwiches, they sell the soups, the chillies.
- 18:26Shout out to the Donut Mill.
- 18:27I love the Donut Mill.
- 18:29That's like the best donut.
- 18:31It's like so good.
- 18:33I ordered two and I hadn't even got out of the parking lot and I ate them both. They were like gone.
- 18:37And you know what?
- 18:38They always throw in when we're there, they always throw in like their version of Timbits for Hayden.
- 18:43It's great.
- 18:45What do they call those?
- 18:45Timbits?
- 18:46They don't call them Timbits.
- 18:47They call them whatever, little donut holes? but whatever they are, they're really good.
- 18:49Yeah, they're amazing.
- 18:50I know.
- 18:50No, I like that.
- 18:51That's a great.
- 18:52If you've never been to the donut mill in Red Deer, Alberta, it's on gasoline alley.
- 18:56You got to stop.
- 18:57It's amazing.
- 18:58Yeah, they didn't pay us to say this.
- 18:59No, they didn't.
- 19:00They don't even know.
- 19:01Hopefully, they listen.
- 19:02But anyway, probably Costco listens and we're going to get mail from Costco.
- 19:06I guarantee we're going to.
- 19:08But Mike Chadi, I'll text Mike Chadi and tell him we talked about him on this week's podcast.
- 19:13We told them don't go to Chick-fil-A.
- 19:14Go to Wing Snob.
- 19:15Go to Wing Snob.
- 19:15That's right.
- 19:18And Wing Snob is open on Sunday.
- 19:20Just want to say, just throwing that out there.
- 19:22And I respect that Chick-fil-A is not open on Sunday.
- 19:26I respect that.
- 19:27I respect it.
- 19:28But there have been Sundays I've been craving a Chick-fil-A.
- 19:31And you can't go.
- 19:32No.
- 19:33I even once, I drove there and I knew it.
- 19:36I knew they weren't.
- 19:37I don't know why I forgot.
- 19:38I went there.
- 19:39Did you go to the mall, though?
- 19:40Yes.
- 19:40See, that's why it's extra annoying.
- 19:41And I stood in front of it.
- 19:43The gates were there.
- 19:45And I was sad because I wanted a Chick-fil-A.
- 19:50I can't even go down the road of my Pet Peeves in the mall.
- 19:52Okay.
- 19:53No. That would take like..
- 19:53That's the mall.
- 19:54That's a whole other show.
- 19:56The mall.
- 19:57Can people?
- 19:57Not again.
- 20:00Can you not learn to walk?
- 20:03No.
- 20:03Can you not learn to walk?
- 20:05I have things to do, places to be.
- 20:08I know.
- 20:09And nothing drives me crazier than I'm walking behind the slow group that's like taking up the whole freaking aisle.
- 20:17It's like mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, cousin, uncle.
- 20:22Move over.
- 20:23Usually a stroller or two.
- 20:25And they're just like moving down.
- 20:27At the pace of a turtle.
- 20:28It's like, hello, I need, I have to get, please, to whatever store I have to get to.
- 20:36And you are, and it's, and you say, excuse me, excuse me, nicely, excuse me.
- 20:42You just like, excuse me.
- 20:43And they're like, they look at you like, ooh, like what are you doing?
- 20:47It's like, excuse me, can I just get by?
- 20:49I am not there for a leisurely stroll.
- 20:52Oh, the mall is the same as Costco.
- 20:54There should be this way and this way, but everybody, no, we got to go, they're just like, oh, and it's unbelievable.
- 21:00And it's just like some days, ah, I don't even know why I go to the mall.
- 21:05I avoid it on the weekend.
- 21:06Yeah, weekends aren't a good day to go to the mall.
- 21:08Okay, now I want to talk about this because I know, let's talk dogs.
- 21:15You have two.
- 21:16I do.
- 21:16They're giant.
- 21:17Well, one time I saw your dogs, I'm not kidding, man.
- 21:22I rang the doorbell and I was like, I thought I was going to die.
- 21:25No, I'm not even kidding.
- 21:26I was like, oh, my shattered nerves.
- 21:28You have dogs.
- 21:29I do.
- 21:29I don't have any dogs.
- 21:30I used to have dogs.
- 21:31I don't have any dogs.
- 21:32So yeah.
- 21:33So dogs.
- 21:34Oh, I have a huge pet peeve with dogs.
- 21:37And what is that?
- 21:38Cam, I consider myself a responsible dog owner.
- 21:41I would think you probably are.
- 21:42So you know what?
- 21:44Take care of my dogs.
- 21:45I walk my dogs.
- 21:46Here's my pet peeve.
- 21:47What's that?
- 21:47When I walk my dogs and my dog poops, I clean it up.
- 21:52Are we allowed to say?
- 21:53I'm saying it.
- 21:53Okay.
- 21:54Yeah.
- 21:54Because there is nothing worse than poop all over the place.
- 22:00In parks where kids are, on the sidewalk.
- 22:03Take a fricking bag, people.
- 22:05It's not hard.
- 22:06I agree.
- 22:06I'm telling you.
- 22:07Now, anybody who knows me knows that I usually wear white running shoes.
- 22:11That's hard to say.
- 22:12White running shoes.
- 22:13And if I'm walking, and I'm in the grass, and I step on some poop, it just destroys my white running shoes.
- 22:22Do you know what is the worst?
- 22:23Winter.
- 22:23Because people get lazy, and then the snow melts, and it's disgusting.
- 22:28It's disgusting.
- 22:29So, I thought it was a law.
- 22:31I don't know.
- 22:32It is a law. You are supposed to.
- 22:32That you have to pick up.
- 22:33Yes, it's a bylaw.
- 22:34You are.
- 22:35Now, we hire people to enforce a lot of things.
- 22:38Like speed on the highway.
- 22:40Let's not get into that.
- 22:41I don't want to go down that road.
- 22:43But maybe we can hire people to make sure people pick up their dog poop.
- 22:48And you know what?
- 22:49I get it.
- 22:50Sometimes your bag falls out or something happens.
- 22:53But I tell you, it's the same perpetrators over and over.
- 22:57I'm with you.
- 22:58And so, there should be people that walk around with cameras following people.
- 23:02I've called people out.
- 23:03Have you?
- 23:04Yes.
- 23:04Did they get mad at you?
- 23:06They tried to pretend like, oh, I was going to.
- 23:08I'm like, liar! Wrong.
- 23:11Here's a bag.
- 23:12Pick it up.
- 23:12I'm with you on that one.
- 23:14All right.
- 23:15Have your dog.
- 23:16Dogs are nice.
- 23:17Have your dog.
- 23:17That's good.
- 23:18But be responsible.
- 23:21I'm a little bit scared of some dogs.
- 23:23Your dogs, I have to be honest.
- 23:24When I saw them, I froze.
- 23:26I was like, oh, they're going to kill me.
- 23:27Once a golden retriever.
- 23:28How scary is he?
- 23:29Well, listen, it's a childhood trauma thing.
- 23:32I won't get into it today.
- 23:33That'll be a show we do on childhood trauma.
- 23:35I won't get into it.
- 23:36It was a dog incident.
- 23:37And anyway, it didn't go well.
- 23:39But however, so big dogs, well, even sometimes little dogs scare me.
- 23:43But nonetheless, I love dogs.
- 23:44I have I've had dogs.
- 23:46People just be responsible.
- 23:47Just be responsible.
- 23:49Be responsible for your pet.
- 23:50You can get poop bags at the dollar store.
- 23:52It doesn't even have to cost you a lot of money.
- 23:53There you go.
- 23:55There's no excuse.
- 23:560.01 cent for a poop bag is like that's a bonus.
- 24:00So get the poop bag and then just don't throw it in somebody else's garbage.
- 24:05Hey, did you hear about this?
- 24:08Is it Edmonton?
- 24:08I don't know who's doing this, but there is some sort of campaign where you can like mark your garbage can that it's okay for people to throw their dog poop in your garbage can or not.
- 24:18Yeah, it's not okay for me.
- 24:20I because when I open the lid to put my garbage and you've thrown your poop bag in my garbage and it opened up, it stinks.
- 24:29I don't do that.
- 24:30Good for you because you know that it's just like people like, oh, man, I have to hose it out.
- 24:36It's inconsiderate.
- 24:38It's just like I don't like it.
- 24:40No, yeah.
- 24:41No, I agree.
- 24:41I mean, okay.
- 24:42So, all right.
- 24:43So people pick up your poop.
- 24:44Yes.
- 24:45And I don't know if we're allowed to say that, but we did.
- 24:47Well, we're saying we're saying.
- 24:50Okay, any other pet peeves?
- 24:52Oh, Cam, there's lots of pet peeves.
- 24:54So I talked about pets.
- 24:55What's another one of yours?
- 24:57Well, where do we start?
- 24:58I mean, okay, so here's the thing.
- 25:01When you when I go and order a burger, okay?
- 25:05Yeah, like say I go to McDonald's and I get a cheeseburger.
- 25:08Yeah, I was thinking about this yesterday because it really bugs me.
- 25:11If you see the ad on TV, you see it looks like it's a nice cheeseburger.
- 25:15Oh, the bun is nice. No. False advertising.
- 25:17The little drizzle of ketchup.
- 25:19You go and get it at the thing.
- 25:21It looks like somebody sat on my burger.
- 25:24It's like squished.
- 25:28I hate that.
- 25:29Can you not give me what you advertise?
- 25:33Another pet peeve.
- 25:34Can you not get my order right?
- 25:36Exactly.
- 25:37How hard is it?
- 25:38Exactly.
- 25:39Get my, when I say, every time, when I say, no onions, I like hot fries.
- 25:43Hot fries.
- 25:44I specifically say that every time.
- 25:46Don't give me saggy ones.
- 25:47that've been sitting there.
- 25:48And then go, Oh, we're sorry.
- 25:49They just came out of the fryer.
- 25:51No, they didn't.
- 25:51They came out of the fryer four days ago.
- 25:54Give me the hot fries.
- 25:55Or you're right, onions.
- 25:57I don't like onions on my burger.
- 25:58I can't eat raw onions.
- 26:00I just have an aversion to raw.
- 26:02I don't know what happens to me, but I can eat a cooked onion, which is very unique.
- 26:06I can eat cooked, but it's like apples.
- 26:08I can't eat a raw apple, but I can eat a cooked apple.
- 26:10Anyway, I agree with you.
- 26:12Just give me the right order.
- 26:14Every single time.
- 26:16How hard is that?
- 26:17How hard is it?
- 26:17You have a computer in front of you.
- 26:19Chick, chick, chick, chick.
- 26:20You tell us.
- 26:21You read back my order.
- 26:22That's right.
- 26:23And when you give me my cheeseburger, don't look like it was made yesterday and it was shoved under a tire and ran over six times.
- 26:31I want it to look like it does in the ad.
- 26:35Is that too much to ask?
- 26:36Apparently.
- 26:36Apparently it is.
- 26:37It's too much to ask.
- 26:38And I'm paying for that.
- 26:40You do the ad on TV.
- 26:41I'm sitting there drooling, I need a cheeseburger.
- 26:44And I think that looks so good.
- 26:45And then I go there and it's disgusting.
- 26:47Remember the other pet peeve?
- 26:48Remember the days when you could go to a McDonald's and it wouldn't cost you that much money?
- 26:53You're going to McDonald's and now it's 40 bucks later.
- 26:55Exactly.
- 26:56And that's just for you.
- 26:57And then you take your family, you gotta take out a loan.
- 26:59I'd like a mortgage for McDonald's please.
- 27:01No, you're absolutely right.
- 27:03I remember $3 you got a cheeseburger, fries and a Coke.
- 27:07I get things have gone up, but it's too much.
- 27:09No, it's ridiculous.
- 27:10Nothings cheap anymore.
- 27:11No, the cow's still the same, the baker's still the same, the wheat still grows the same.
- 27:17Why?
- 27:18Why?
- 27:18Why is this going up?
- 27:19I don't, anyway, I don't understand.
- 27:21I don't either.
- 27:22No, used to be, you could get deals.
- 27:24There's no such thing as a deal.
- 27:25There's no deals anymore.
- 27:25Don't even tell me you're giving me a deal.
- 27:27No.
- 27:27You go to a restaurant and they say, today's special is, on special, it costs more than everything else on the menu.
- 27:33It's supposed to cost less.
- 27:34You're right.
- 27:35I don't understand.
- 27:37I know.
- 27:38I know.
- 27:39But what can you do?
- 27:40I mean, seriously, what can we do?
- 27:42I mean, you can't complain.
- 27:44If you say to the manager at McDonald's, this cheeseburger looks like you sat on it, he'll give you like 10 reasons.
- 27:49Wow, it's just the way it comes, or it's just the way.
- 27:52No, just make it.
- 27:54How is that hard?
- 27:56Apparently, it's difficult.
- 27:57I guess it is.
- 27:58And the same with the mall.
- 27:59If you ask people to move over, they get offended.
- 28:03It's like at Costco if you say, could you just move your cart?
- 28:07You'd think you'd ask them to give a kidney.
- 28:09I mean, they go crazy.
- 28:11You get the stink eye.
- 28:12I was just there for a second.
- 28:14It's like, I don't have a second.
- 28:15I have to move forward.
- 28:17It's true.
- 28:18Anyway.
- 28:19It's true.
- 28:19Well, that's about 30 minutes right there.
- 28:23And we didn't even cover the field.
- 28:25I've got so many more pet peeves.
- 28:27Anyways, so thanks for listening today...
- 28:30If you're listening, if you are listening...
- 28:32Let us know your pet peeves.
- 28:34Yeah, send us an email or...
- 28:35Send us an email.
- 28:36Okay, don't...
- 28:37Okay.
- 28:38I apologize that I talked about the people who sit with me at the Costco table.
- 28:43I just feel like I've offended somebody already.
- 28:46And they're gonna be like, I remember that guy.
- 28:48I was sitting there and he didn't listen to a word I said.
- 28:50He was the guy with the white runners.
- 28:52Exactly.
- 28:52He was the guy with the white runners.
- 28:55And he didn't listen to a word I said.
- 28:57And I said, no offense.
- 28:59Sometimes I just got a lot on my mind.
- 29:00But anyways, it's just like...
- 29:02I'm sorry.
- 29:03He'll be back at Costco tomorrow.
- 29:05That's right.
- 29:07I'll be there at 3 if you'd like to come and join me.
- 29:12I won't tell you which Costco.
- 29:13You can try them all if you want.
- 29:16Anyways, yeah, so thanks for listening.
- 29:20We didn't have a guest today.
- 29:22If we did, they didn't say anything.
- 29:24So it's like, yes, that's the way it goes.
- 29:28And hey, so be sure to tell your friends about the podcast.

- 29:58And one of my family members came over to me with their phone and said, How come I don't know when you're doing a new podcast?
- 30:06Did you show them how to subscribe?
- 30:07I did.
- 30:08And I said, here, do this, subscribe.
- 30:11Well, you would have thought I had bought them a house.
- 30:13They were so excited.

- 30:27As we learned one day.
- 30:30Standing in line at a hockey game.
- 30:32That's right.
- 30:32Your son helped us figure that out.
- 30:35That was it.
- 30:35Well, not me.
- 30:36Somebody else.
- 30:37That was amazing.
- 30:38Anyways.
- 30:39So yeah.
- 30:39So hey, listen.
- 30:40Subscribe.
- 30:41Listen.

- 30:56And so we just appreciate y'all listening.
- 30:59And just a quick note.
- 31:01Note.
- 31:01We're coming up on our one year anniversary of the podcast.
- 31:04Can you believe it?
- 31:04Yes.
- 31:05One year.
- 31:06I can't believe it.
- 31:07End of June.

- 31:09It really is.
- 31:10Cause I know you thought it would last like about two weeks.

- 31:18And truth is they have gotten bored.
- 31:20But everybody else listens to it.
- 31:22No, that's not true.
- 31:23Your mom is a faithful listener.
- 31:25She is a faithful listener.
- 31:26She is faithful.

- 31:37And see you next time.
