- 0:03Speaker 1: Happy Monday people. Josh Harrison, it's here. Let's go.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Two former pirates. Wow, two former pirates on the show.
- 0:11Speaker 2: We're gonna have to start the show off with some
- 0:12Speaker 2: pirate stock.
- 0:13Speaker 3: Yes, thank you.
- 0:14Speaker 2: But Jay, Hey, great to see you man. You've been
- 0:16Speaker 2: having fun on Bucco Territory.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Oh yeah, man, it's been a blast.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Kept me in the game and uh, you know, it's
- 0:21Speaker 4: always good to keep up with your former team, and
- 0:24Speaker 4: you know see how the city's been doing.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's been a better year to cover the
- 0:28Speaker 2: team than the last several years. So it's been exciting.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We're going to get into them coming up in just
- 0:32Speaker 2: a moment.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Before we do.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It was Father's Day yesterday, so happy Father's Day to
- 0:38Speaker 2: both of you.
- 0:39Speaker 1: This was my favorite tweet crafts from the weekend.
- 0:43Speaker 3: C J.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Abrams had a home run in each game over the
- 0:46Speaker 2: weekend for the Nationals and he was hanging out with
- 0:49Speaker 2: his dad. So this is Spencer Nussbaum, who was just
- 0:52Speaker 2: on the show the other day last week and he's
- 0:54Speaker 2: part of District Territory on the Ft Network. He said
- 0:56Speaker 2: this was at the time when he hit his second
- 0:58Speaker 2: on the weekend. He hit another one the next stay,
- 1:00Speaker 2: but Nusbom tweeted that is back to back games with
- 1:03Speaker 2: a home run for CJ. Abrams, who seems empowered by
- 1:06Speaker 2: the father's day trip. He and his dad have a
- 1:08Speaker 2: little phone bat in the hotel room and they were
- 1:10Speaker 2: taking VP in the room. Asked if it might have
- 1:12Speaker 2: helped him. Abrams said it might have, and then again
- 1:15Speaker 2: he homer the next day. So people were joking they're
- 1:18Speaker 2: gonna have to take that phone bat around and he's
- 1:20Speaker 2: gonna have to do hotel room VP before or after
- 1:24Speaker 2: every single game, because clearly that's working for him. Kratz,
- 1:27Speaker 2: I love those stories.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Hey tell me, tell me you're not wrong. If a
- 1:32Speaker 5: man gets two homers, there's one other person on the
- 1:35Speaker 5: team that bought a phone bat, and it's just at
- 1:37Speaker 5: least like getting somebody to flip some balls to him, know.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Oh for sure. And it was a dad's trip.
- 1:43Speaker 4: You know, somebody said a pops I almost send a
- 1:45Speaker 4: klobby to go to Kroger Walmart something, you know, a
- 1:49Speaker 4: s hand by coordination, man, keep it simple.
- 1:53Speaker 5: Learn, learn from the best, you learn, you go back,
- 1:57Speaker 5: You go back to like what brought you into the game,
- 1:59Speaker 5: like a phone bat. Hey, dad rolling on the ground
- 2:02Speaker 5: to me, I might need to and you get right,
- 2:05Speaker 5: you feel good, get a haircut, you feel good.
- 2:07Speaker 6: Dad comes in, you feel good. Whatever it takes to
- 2:09Speaker 6: hit dangers.
- 2:10Speaker 2: M h feel good, play good. I like that a lot. Okay,
- 2:14Speaker 2: let's dive in.
- 2:16Speaker 6: Let's charge on that.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna start with.
- 2:19Speaker 2: The Pirates and get a check on where they're at
- 2:21Speaker 2: with Jay hey here, So they dropped a series in Colorado.
- 2:25Speaker 2: That's not what you want. It's the worst team in
- 2:27Speaker 2: the National League. They have played much better than last year,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but I mean, these are some games, Jay Hay, where
- 2:33Speaker 2: it's like bases loaded, You've got opportunities in the ninth inning,
- 2:36Speaker 2: and they're now coming through against one of the worst
- 2:39Speaker 2: teams in baseball. We also had the runners interference play,
- 2:43Speaker 2: which we can get into. That's Billy Cook, who was
- 2:46Speaker 2: running from second to third, knocks the glove of Cairos
- 2:49Speaker 2: for Colorado and that turns into what would have been
- 2:53Speaker 2: a run to tie the game instead and out. So
- 2:55Speaker 2: your thoughts on this weekend set for the Pirates and
- 2:58Speaker 2: what they look like going forward. I know that they
- 3:00Speaker 2: have significant bullpen issues, but does it look like this
- 3:04Speaker 2: team has a chance to get through a somewhat difficult
- 3:09Speaker 2: National League wild card picture and be a real contender at.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Least through the season.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I'm not even saying can they make the playoffs? Like
- 3:15Speaker 2: can they stay in this race and be within a
- 3:17Speaker 2: couple of games in September?
- 3:21Speaker 4: Man, looking at this weekend, obviously you go to Colorado, Cratzy,
- 3:24Speaker 4: Correct me if I'm wrong. Man, that's one trip that
- 3:26Speaker 4: every hitter has circled, you know, going to course Field.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Oh man, I'm looking forward to, you know, just missing
- 3:33Speaker 4: one and you know, being rewarded, you know, offensively. But man,
- 3:36Speaker 4: they've been going through a little rough patch, you know,
- 3:38Speaker 4: as a whole. You mentioned relief pitching, you know, as
- 3:41Speaker 4: a whole lately.
- 3:42Speaker 3: You know, at one.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Point starting pitchers had a little struggle, and then you
- 3:46Speaker 4: couple that, you know, with not playing that great of
- 3:48Speaker 4: defense and having some injuries to some key guys you
- 3:52Speaker 4: expect to have, you know, some hardship. But as you mentioned, man,
- 3:56Speaker 4: they're still in the thick of it in a wild
- 3:57Speaker 4: card here we are, and you know, mid June, all
- 4:00Speaker 4: you can ask for, especially when you're missing some key guys,
- 4:03Speaker 4: is to keep your head above water. And you know
- 4:05Speaker 4: how the season started for these guys with the energy
- 4:08Speaker 4: that you.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Know P and C.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Broom from you know opening day to you know kind
- 4:12Speaker 4: of Griffin making is you know, debut and you know
- 4:15Speaker 4: them getting off to a good start. There's a lot
- 4:18Speaker 4: of energy that's around P and C and Pittsburgh that
- 4:20Speaker 4: hasn't been felt in a long time.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But as I said, here they.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Are in the middle of June, kind of the middle
- 4:25Speaker 4: of things where you know, on the outside looking in,
- 4:28Speaker 4: but still you know, within striking range. I think more
- 4:31Speaker 4: than anything, they're they're looking to get their guys healthy,
- 4:34Speaker 4: and as those guys come back, you still want to
- 4:36Speaker 4: be in the thick of things because as that happens,
- 4:39Speaker 4: you have an opportunity to say, hey, we're looking to add.
- 4:41Speaker 3: But with that, you have to go into Colorado.
- 4:44Speaker 4: Like teams against Colorado, you have to win those series
- 4:46Speaker 4: because you know it's only going to get harder and
- 4:48Speaker 4: harder as the season goes. So looking at this weekend,
- 4:51Speaker 4: definitely some disappointing losses on their end. You mentioned the
- 4:54Speaker 4: second game of what they would call a controversial call.
- 4:58Speaker 3: That's baseball.
- 4:59Speaker 4: But they've had a lot of losses this year that
- 5:01Speaker 4: they probably could prevented and Obviously in these moments they
- 5:04Speaker 4: get magnified because you know you're getting closer to the
- 5:06Speaker 4: trade deadline and you know things are starting to shape up.
- 5:09Speaker 4: So every win, every loss is you know, going to
- 5:12Speaker 4: be magnified that much more. But you know they all
- 5:15Speaker 4: count the same at my book.
- 5:17Speaker 5: Hey Jay, Hey, first of all, Daniel McCutcheon is not
- 5:20Speaker 5: pitching on the mound. This is not a lugo play
- 5:22Speaker 5: at the plate. Okay, this is not the situation. This
- 5:26Speaker 5: is a team that is ready to make the playoffs.
- 5:29Speaker 5: But all those things you mentioned were highs Connor Griffin
- 5:33Speaker 5: all opening day, we have all these like we have
- 5:36Speaker 5: all these new signings, Paul Skins is still around. Then
- 5:40Speaker 5: Connor Griffin gets called up. Then you have a little,
- 5:43Speaker 5: you know, some Pittsburgh magic. When the adrenaline wears off,
- 5:47Speaker 5: or when the like magic wears off. What kind of
- 5:50Speaker 5: team do they have? They have a team that should
- 5:52Speaker 5: play good defense, but they sacrifice that a little bit
- 5:55Speaker 5: for offense. They should pitch really well. I think they're
- 5:58Speaker 5: starting pitching has proved and they should find somebody in
- 6:03Speaker 5: the bullpen to be able to make these make these
- 6:07Speaker 5: leads that they do get hold up. But the reality
- 6:10Speaker 5: is it seems like a little bit of their adrenalines
- 6:13Speaker 5: worn off. Paul Schimes, I think his last five outings
- 6:16Speaker 5: they haven't won, and he's given out less than two
- 6:18Speaker 5: runs in each seven outings. I'm sorry, seven outys and
- 6:23Speaker 5: so that kind of thing. You need these guys to
- 6:25Speaker 5: step up. You need the guys who you signed to
- 6:28Speaker 5: step up. Ohearns now back and healthy. You need Brian
- 6:32Speaker 5: Reynolds to be the guy that I think he should
- 6:36Speaker 5: be the best hitter on the team consistently. And I
- 6:38Speaker 5: think this is where this will be the make or
- 6:41Speaker 5: break the rate of five hundred make or break? What
- 6:43Speaker 5: way do you want to go when you react to
- 6:46Speaker 5: losing to a team in Colorado? I would have said
- 6:48Speaker 5: on Friday, hey, this is a huge series. Let's go
- 6:50Speaker 5: in there. When two most likely three from Colorado, it
- 6:54Speaker 5: went the opposite way. So now how do you react,
- 6:56Speaker 5: how do you make how do you make the adjustment?
- 6:59Speaker 3: And how happened? Right now? You can't wait for it
- 7:01Speaker 3: to happen.
- 7:04Speaker 1: It is that time. We're looking ahead. What do we
- 7:06Speaker 1: have this week?
- 7:07Speaker 2: Seekek helping us out as they'll get you some ten
- 7:09Speaker 2: percent off tickets with the promo code Territory ten. So
- 7:12Speaker 2: I'm looking at a few matchups that begin tonight. The
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yankees meet up with the Tigers first series, while Detroit's
- 7:18Speaker 2: been playing really well, and it's kind of like life
- 7:20Speaker 2: support for them to try and get themselves back closer
- 7:22Speaker 2: to the five hundred mark or else we're just going
- 7:24Speaker 2: to talk about Errek School every day all day until
- 7:26Speaker 2: he gets traded. Astros Blue Jays gets a little bit
- 7:29Speaker 2: interesting now too. Kratz is, the Stros are playing better,
- 7:32Speaker 2: and I think they have the second best record over
- 7:35Speaker 2: the past month in the American League. You've got yourd On,
- 7:38Speaker 2: You've got Hater, You've got Hunter Brown, and the Mariners
- 7:42Speaker 2: are certainly not running away with the division.
- 7:45Speaker 3: They're not.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Here's where the Astros, if they can pitch, they can
- 7:48Speaker 5: certainly hit where the Mariners and the rest of the
- 7:50Speaker 5: American League can't really hit that much. So hey, if
- 7:53Speaker 5: the Astros can hit, they can figure out this pitching
- 7:56Speaker 5: with Hunter Brown. And I don't know, I still think
- 8:00Speaker 5: they're a team that's five under five games under five hundred.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, they're sixteen and eleven in their past twenty
- 8:07Speaker 2: seven games.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's a good not.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Great, but for that stretch that's actually the second best
- 8:12Speaker 2: in the American League because Josh, the American League has
- 8:16Speaker 2: been a little bit weaker than the National League. It's
- 8:18Speaker 2: a bunch of negative run deferentials. Yeah, it's stinky.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it's definitely, you know, that's part of baseball. But
- 8:28Speaker 4: and we're still covering, you know, talking to Yankees and
- 8:31Speaker 4: the Tigers, and I was actually, you know, looking at
- 8:34Speaker 4: it to where I'm going with the Yankees. You know,
- 8:36Speaker 4: Garrett Cole money Line obviously former teammate of mine, but
- 8:41Speaker 4: you know, just seeing him healthy and I know what
- 8:43Speaker 4: he can bring to the table, and the Yankees obviously
- 8:45Speaker 4: missing Judge, but you know, playing that market. Garrett's a
- 8:48Speaker 4: perfect guy as ready for the ball, and I think
- 8:50Speaker 4: Garret's gonna do what he does.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and one more I'll highlight if you want to
- 8:54Speaker 2: go grab a ticket on Seaki Gavin Williams matching up
- 8:57Speaker 2: with Anthony K. Kratz are gonna have seven between the
- 9:00Speaker 2: White Sox and Guardians over the next weekend change between
- 9:03Speaker 2: now and July six, So if you want to grab
- 9:05Speaker 2: a ticket to that one and see what's up. White
- 9:07Speaker 2: Sox have lost seven of their last ten games, so
- 9:10Speaker 2: we'll see if they rebound. Kyle Teel is back first,
- 9:15Speaker 2: a huge game of the season coming up for him,
- 9:17Speaker 2: so it's a good little burst. So the code you
- 9:20Speaker 2: know it for ten percent off your MLB tickets at
- 9:24Speaker 2: SIK ten percent off is code Territory one zero, where
- 9:28Speaker 2: you can click the link in the description to download
- 9:30Speaker 2: the app and have the code automatically added to your
- 9:32Speaker 2: account so that you can use it later and then
- 9:34Speaker 2: find the seats that you want on seat geek they
- 9:37Speaker 2: help you out. It is the number one ticketing app.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Reynolds has been really good, by the way.
- 9:43Speaker 3: He's been having a good year for sure.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Yeah, top twenty in ops on the season after last
- 9:49Speaker 2: year being below average by ops plus by league standards there.
- 9:54Speaker 2: So I mean he's definitely been the best bat on
- 9:56Speaker 2: the team. I guess you could probably put Brandon Lao
- 9:59Speaker 2: second there, right, Yeah, and of course they're missing crews
- 10:02Speaker 2: who had some really good moments. But I don't know
- 10:05Speaker 2: what the timetable is for him. The offense hasn't really
- 10:08Speaker 2: been the problem, but yeah, you can't go seven starts
- 10:11Speaker 2: where they're losing skiing starts. You can't have the bullpen issues,
- 10:14Speaker 2: and then I mentioned this, and I looked it up
- 10:15Speaker 2: specifically because I was popping in and out of games
- 10:18Speaker 2: watching them over the weekend. Friday bases loaded down or
- 10:21Speaker 2: run strikeout, double play, Saturday bases loaded one out down
- 10:28Speaker 2: a run strikeout, and then the interference play. And technically
- 10:32Speaker 2: I know that they were a little pissed Jay Hey,
- 10:34Speaker 2: but the OMPs got it right. They didn't make the
- 10:36Speaker 2: call initially, but then they got together and they made
- 10:40Speaker 2: the right call. I mean, there was contact with Kiris's glove.
- 10:43Speaker 3: That's it.
- 10:43Speaker 2: That's interference right there. So maybe he just wanted to
- 10:46Speaker 2: make sure someone else saw it too. And it's tough
- 10:48Speaker 2: to catch that if you look at it first blush
- 10:51Speaker 2: live even on TV, right, you don't really see it.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And then the replay is clear.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Well typically you'll see you know, a collision, not necessarily
- 10:59Speaker 4: a collision, but you'll see something where arms or foot,
- 11:02Speaker 4: where a guy jumped out the way it was so
- 11:05Speaker 4: you know minute that you know he kind of impeded
- 11:09Speaker 4: the ball, but at the same time it was trying
- 11:10Speaker 4: to get around and Carrols also has a third basement.
- 11:13Speaker 4: It's charging that ball, like, hey, I gotta do a
- 11:15Speaker 4: do or die play and I don't think Carross was
- 11:18Speaker 4: you know, doing that play to try to get an interference,
- 11:20Speaker 4: but he was also like, if I hesitate, I'm gonna
- 11:23Speaker 4: get this in between hot And what happened is just
- 11:27Speaker 4: a situation where I mean, it's one of those things
- 11:29Speaker 4: you I mean, baseball is going on. How long you
- 11:33Speaker 4: haven't seen this play happen to where a guy actually
- 11:36Speaker 4: ends the game this way, usually the ball to hit
- 11:38Speaker 4: a runner. You know, these are things that, as you mentioned,
- 11:42Speaker 4: they still had opportunity to win the game before that moment.
- 11:46Speaker 4: So when we're talking a pirate scheme seven starts, I
- 11:49Speaker 4: think a lot of it, honestly has been some defensive miscues,
- 11:54Speaker 4: not having you know, some timely hitting, and you know,
- 11:57Speaker 4: when you're not winning your starts of a guy that's
- 11:59Speaker 4: your horse like that, I mean, what is that saying
- 12:01Speaker 4: about a you know, the other four starters that you
- 12:04Speaker 4: know may not be a guy at you pretty much
- 12:06Speaker 4: saying as an automatic win. And I think you got
- 12:08Speaker 4: a team that's still learning how to win. You got
- 12:10Speaker 4: these pieces that came in and you know, have shown
- 12:13Speaker 4: how to you know, go about the business every day.
- 12:15Speaker 4: But there's still a thing about crats. You understand showing
- 12:17Speaker 4: up every day and learning how to win these close
- 12:19Speaker 4: games in these moments. And I think what you're seeing
- 12:21Speaker 4: as a team that is still trying to find how
- 12:25Speaker 4: to win those games in those moments.
- 12:27Speaker 5: I think they have a shot. I still think they're
- 12:29Speaker 5: in this thing. I really do.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree with you. They're just in their
- 12:34Speaker 2: rough stretch. They've lost ten to fifteen. They need to
- 12:38Speaker 2: get bullpen help base happen. The reason why they can
- 12:40Speaker 2: before the trade deadline. But this is big crats because
- 12:43Speaker 2: this does happen every year. They can dangle something that
- 12:46Speaker 2: actually has a deadline to it. I think we talked
- 12:48Speaker 2: about it with Ken last week, and I don't remember
- 12:50Speaker 2: if I read it or we talked to Ken about
- 12:52Speaker 2: it or both. But they have the thirty fourth overall pick.
- 12:54Speaker 2: That's a compic that they're able to trade. You have
- 12:56Speaker 2: to trade it before the draft, though, so that's significant. Well,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I mean it's a few weeks right before two weeks
- 13:03Speaker 2: before the actual trade deadline, so they need to get
- 13:05Speaker 2: that done. And the comp was Brian Baker from the
- 13:09Speaker 2: Orioles to the Rays, and they give up a compick
- 13:11Speaker 2: so you can get a controllable reliever or I don't
- 13:13Speaker 2: think you're going to get a rental because I think
- 13:15Speaker 2: teams will hold off on the top two or three
- 13:18Speaker 2: high leverage arms, but they could get somebody pretty valuable
- 13:21Speaker 2: that they can maybe control for another couple of years.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So I'm sure they're shopping that right now and they
- 13:24Speaker 2: need that kind of help asap, which just the prices
- 13:27Speaker 2: stay high right now while so many teams are in it.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Hey a little home run derby news.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We're going to start to get that leading into All
- 13:34Speaker 2: Star festivities. Jor Don Alvarez is a no for the
- 13:37Speaker 2: home run Derby. I don't know if you got an
- 13:39Speaker 2: official invite, it doesn't matter. He would have said no.
- 13:42Speaker 2: He is one of the best hitters in baseball, one
- 13:44Speaker 2: of the best power hitters in the game. He missed
- 13:45Speaker 2: a good chunk of last year Crad's no surprise. I
- 13:49Speaker 2: did not expect him to participate. I know it sucks,
- 13:51Speaker 2: but I did not expect him to participate.
- 13:54Speaker 6: I want to see it, although it might be boring.
- 13:56Speaker 6: He might just keep hitting him.
- 13:57Speaker 5: He might go twenty for twenty and everyone else will
- 13:59Speaker 5: just be like, I guess I'm not trying. He's such
- 14:02Speaker 5: a good hitter A Oh well, oh well, it's fine.
- 14:05Speaker 5: It's fine. I'm not mad. I'm not mad. There's plenty
- 14:07Speaker 5: of other good.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Hitters there are. Yeah, for sure. I agree with you,
- 14:12Speaker 3: especially with the new rules too.
- 14:14Speaker 4: He definitely might have gone twenty for twenty, so well,
- 14:17Speaker 4: you might want to see guys like that. At the
- 14:20Speaker 4: same time, you know, health is priority and if I'm
- 14:23Speaker 4: sure he's got a valid reason, and it sucks.
- 14:25Speaker 3: But as you said, there's other guys out there that
- 14:27Speaker 3: can fill.
- 14:27Speaker 2: In anyone real quick that you guys are thinking about
- 14:31Speaker 2: that you definitely want to see in the Derby this year.
- 14:36Speaker 3: I'll go first.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd like to see Junior Commonero. It's easy to
- 14:43Speaker 4: like easy pop watching them, so I think i'd like
- 14:46Speaker 4: to see him.
- 14:47Speaker 1: He was in last year, right to be Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 5: Yeah, and he wants to be set on the show.
- 14:51Speaker 5: He's like, I want to win it. He also wants
- 14:53Speaker 5: a million dollars. I like the hungry dudes that want
- 14:55Speaker 5: a million obviously, Schwarber, I feel like O. Neil Cruz
- 14:58Speaker 5: hit one so far last year that you just have
- 15:00Speaker 5: to like have him in. But no, I get it,
- 15:06Speaker 5: I get it, but I.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Want to see Yeah, they're both going to do it.
- 15:13Speaker 7: I have.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Sure we've talked a lot about Rafael Devers over the
- 15:24Speaker 2: last couple of years, and here we are talking about
- 15:26Speaker 2: him again. It's a bad Giants team. It's the ninth inning.
- 15:30Speaker 2: The Giants were swept over the weekend, Krats. And in
- 15:34Speaker 2: the ninth inning he was down. Oh too, worked a walk,
- 15:38Speaker 2: They're down a run. He sees a pinch runner, Jonah
- 15:42Speaker 2: Cox coming out to replace him, and he had a
- 15:45Speaker 2: full on temper tantrum, both standing at first and then
- 15:49Speaker 2: when he went into the dugout and eventually to the clubhouse.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Let's find out thoughts from former players here, Krats will
- 15:56Speaker 2: start with you, how does this make him?
- 15:59Speaker 5: Let's let's just let's just go baseball. Move right here, Ruffy,
- 16:04Speaker 5: You ain't stealing that bag. Whether Jonah Cox did or
- 16:06Speaker 5: not doesn't matter. You ain't stealing that bag. You ain't
- 16:08Speaker 5: still stolen a bag this year. It's not about to
- 16:12Speaker 5: be in. Secondly, the fact that the way he handled it,
- 16:15Speaker 5: I thought he was kind of joking, like I just
- 16:18Speaker 5: worked a big walk.
- 16:19Speaker 6: You know, we're down a run.
- 16:20Speaker 5: He wanted to keep running in a ninth inning, Oh
- 16:23Speaker 5: we need that run. The score you're out, Like I
- 16:25Speaker 5: thought he was joking, and it turned into something where
- 16:28Speaker 5: he did throw a tantrum in a dugout, like he
- 16:30Speaker 5: doesn't want to be congratulated.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Come on stop. Yeah that's tough man.
- 16:36Speaker 4: You even look at uh the first base coach, you know,
- 16:40Speaker 4: he's kind of like, hey man, you got to come out,
- 16:43Speaker 4: and but.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Like he's like, what am I supposed to do?
- 16:46Speaker 4: And uh, yeah, it did look like a joke at first,
- 16:48Speaker 4: but I didn't take it as a joke when I
- 16:50Speaker 4: saw him like going like this, But you're right, baseball
- 16:53Speaker 4: play man. Everybody knows in that situation, if we need
- 16:56Speaker 4: this run, we got to get a base runner, a
- 16:58Speaker 4: guy that's got some speed that's going to get that
- 17:00Speaker 4: extra ninety, that might steal a bag, that can score
- 17:02Speaker 4: on something in the gap. And I think was it
- 17:06Speaker 4: not mentioned that they were planning to give him a
- 17:08Speaker 4: little break on his legs or something too. So when
- 17:10Speaker 4: you're taking all these things into account of being a professional,
- 17:13Speaker 4: you're communicating with your team and if you've already said, hey,
- 17:16Speaker 4: my legs, a little shot might be a little this,
- 17:18Speaker 4: and you're not a base stealer in that situation, you're
- 17:21Speaker 4: getting ran for because obviously you've done your part to
- 17:23Speaker 4: get on base, you're not about to I mean, they
- 17:27Speaker 4: need that run to potentially win.
- 17:28Speaker 3: The game, going to extras or whatever.
- 17:30Speaker 4: But what good does it do it if you got
- 17:32Speaker 4: a guy that's on base and it's just not a
- 17:33Speaker 4: good look, given how he's been in the media, you know,
- 17:37Speaker 4: surrounding trades and you know from Boston and San Francisco,
- 17:40Speaker 4: how he's received. That's not a team player. And I'm
- 17:44Speaker 4: not saying that Rafia is in a team player. I
- 17:45Speaker 4: haven't played with them, but that right there was a
- 17:48Speaker 4: very selfish move because, as you said, Kratz, he wasn't
- 17:51Speaker 4: still in that bag. He was just trying to make
- 17:53Speaker 4: a point to say, no, I can do what I
- 17:55Speaker 4: want almost and then to you know, turn away when
- 17:59Speaker 4: somebody's trying to congressulate you. Man, no wonder this team
- 18:01Speaker 4: is in plan will teams that don't win and do
- 18:05Speaker 4: stuff like that.
- 18:10Speaker 5: When my puppy Bella has something wrong, I'm not going
- 18:13Speaker 5: to go around googling what to do.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Kratz, let's have a better plan.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Today's episode is sponsored by the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance Program.

- 18:57Speaker 2: Insurance is underwritten by either Independent American Insurance Company or
- 19:01Speaker 2: United States Fire Insurance Company and produced by PTZ Insurance
- 19:04Speaker 2: Agency Limited. The ASPCA is not an insurance and is
- 19:07Speaker 2: not engaged in the business of insurance.
- 19:10Speaker 5: Yeah, and obviously he doesn't speak to the media. I
- 19:13Speaker 5: heard Richard really on their post game say, well, you know,
- 19:16Speaker 5: we don't know what he's thinking because he never speaks
- 19:18Speaker 5: to the media. But my thing is, like, what's the
- 19:23Speaker 5: hierarchy here because my guy, Sugar Shane Robinson's the first
- 19:27Speaker 5: base coach there, and first base coach isn't going to
- 19:30Speaker 5: be like, bro, like you got to get out of here.
- 19:33Speaker 5: But then it's like, are you is there a hierarchy
- 19:36Speaker 5: in the sense that like maybe Raffi doesn't respect Tony's moves.
- 19:41Speaker 5: Maybe I'm going too far into this, but I know
- 19:43Speaker 5: Sugar Shane's one of the base running coaches. So it's like,
- 19:47Speaker 5: why you're you're putting me in a spot right now?
- 19:50Speaker 5: Why am I sitting here going well, yeah, obviously Cox
- 19:53Speaker 5: is coming in for you, whether we steal him or not,
- 19:56Speaker 5: like there has to be a hierarchy. And then they
- 19:59Speaker 5: panned to Tony Tello in the dugout and our guy
- 20:02Speaker 5: Ron Washington was right behind him, and Ron Washington said,
- 20:05Speaker 5: in spring training, I don't care if you got one
- 20:08Speaker 5: day or one hundred years in the big leagues. If
- 20:10Speaker 5: you're the manager, you're the hefe. That's who everybody looks to.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Ron Washington on this show said those exact words when
- 20:17Speaker 5: we were talking about rookie hazing for the manager, like jokingly,
- 20:20Speaker 5: and he was like, no, no, no, we don't play
- 20:23Speaker 5: that way. So I'll be interested to see what comes
- 20:25Speaker 5: up with this, just to hear what the reaction from
- 20:29Speaker 5: the coaches or the rest of the team were.
- 20:31Speaker 4: After this, right, Because I mean, we all know guys that, oh,
- 20:35Speaker 4: you got a day off tomorrow, and now I'm going
- 20:37Speaker 4: in to talk to Skip.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Like we're not talking.
- 20:40Speaker 4: You know, Hey, we're gonna give you the day off tomorrow,
- 20:42Speaker 4: and you go in and talk your way out of
- 20:43Speaker 4: having a day off.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Like that's different.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Everybody's had cases where managers are like, oh, man, I
- 20:49Speaker 4: love when a guy comes into my office and you know,
- 20:51Speaker 4: tells me I don't need a day off because I'm
- 20:53Speaker 4: facing so and so tomorrow. But this wasn't a pinch
- 20:55Speaker 4: hit because you facing somebody nasty. This was this was
- 20:58Speaker 4: a team move, meaning a we're trying to win a
- 21:00Speaker 4: ball gaming right now, we need one of our better
- 21:02Speaker 4: base runners on and you know you did a job
- 21:04Speaker 4: to get on, and you know, it does come to
- 21:07Speaker 4: ask a question is it a respect thing? Like is
- 21:10Speaker 4: it a thing where it's like, man, I don't really
- 21:12Speaker 4: respect And I'm not saying that Rafi doesn't respect him,
- 21:14Speaker 4: but realistically that does make you ask that question because
- 21:19Speaker 4: you know you're not going to agree with every move,
- 21:21Speaker 4: but at the same time, some moves are going to
- 21:22Speaker 4: make sense, and I thought that was a move that
- 21:24Speaker 4: made sense in the situation of the game as well
- 21:26Speaker 4: did a lot of people.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Well, let's get thoughts from Tony Bytello, who talked about
- 21:31Speaker 2: how you know he wants guys like Devers and Logan
- 21:33Speaker 2: Webb who don't want him to come take him out
- 21:36Speaker 2: like you guys said, there's a difference between that and
- 21:39Speaker 2: the level of respect that everybody saw on camera.
- 21:42Speaker 1: So here's Vytella on.
- 21:44Speaker 7: With Dever's there in the ninth Yeah, I mean he
- 21:46Speaker 7: was signaling over to us that he's good to run.
- 21:48Speaker 7: You know, we DHD him the first game after the
- 21:51Speaker 7: day off just because from from running from base running
- 21:54Speaker 7: a little bit of soreness in this leg, but he's
- 21:56Speaker 7: good to go, and so a part of that and
- 21:59Speaker 7: then part of it too, you know how competitive he
- 22:00Speaker 7: is you want to stay in the game.
- 22:02Speaker 3: What do you make of that reaction?
- 22:03Speaker 2: It seems like he's wave of jonah Off then went
- 22:05Speaker 2: right back into the clubhouse.
- 22:07Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't see where he went afterwards, but once
- 22:09Speaker 7: we announced the move, the move is made. So just
- 22:13Speaker 7: going with what our best effort is to win the game. Obviously,
- 22:15Speaker 7: he'd like to get Jonah to go get a bag.
- 22:18Speaker 7: You know, he's relatively quick to the plate, but on
- 22:21Speaker 7: a double going with our best chance to be able
- 22:24Speaker 7: to score.
- 22:25Speaker 4: So do you feel like you need to tuck to
- 22:26Speaker 4: Evers after that?
- 22:27Speaker 7: Now we talk every day. I'm good. I want I'd
- 22:30Speaker 7: rather have guys like Webby that you got to rip
- 22:33Speaker 7: them off the field as opposed to vice versa.
- 22:38Speaker 2: From now we're showing it for the podcast audio crowd.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Alex Cora chiming in, who's sipping Margarita's hanging out getting
- 22:45Speaker 2: paid by the Red Sox to watch them burn. But
- 22:47Speaker 2: he's also watching the Giants go through their struggles with
- 22:50Speaker 2: Raffy Devers, who caused him a lot of turmoil. Those
- 22:53Speaker 2: two were going at it when they were going over
- 22:55Speaker 2: the position change. But Alex just said but but dot
- 22:59Speaker 2: dot dot, and then an emoji with the zipper that
- 23:03Speaker 2: he's not saying a word.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Lips are sealed. That should say it all.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Alex Cora clearly had significant issues with Devers and they
- 23:11Speaker 2: did not get along. And he's trying to tell the
- 23:13Speaker 2: world right now, are you sure it had to do
- 23:16Speaker 2: with me or did it have to do with him?
- 23:19Speaker 2: And I covered and unknown Rappie since he was like
- 23:22Speaker 2: a kid, right and he was like an innocent, young,
- 23:24Speaker 2: easygoing kid in the clubhouse.
- 23:26Speaker 1: But he is it seems like he has changed.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I don't know him as much the last few years,
- 23:29Speaker 2: but we've seen enough of this going on with him
- 23:33Speaker 2: that it does seem like he's changed. Krats you disagree.
- 23:35Speaker 2: He doesn't speak to the media much, maybe like a
- 23:38Speaker 2: few times it's very rare, right that he speaks to
- 23:40Speaker 2: the media, And maybe he feels like stuff's been misconstrued
- 23:42Speaker 2: in the past.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 23:43Speaker 2: But you had the whole issue with the Red Sox
- 23:45Speaker 2: last year. Then he gets traded over to here. He's
- 23:48Speaker 2: actually hit pretty well since a bad first month this season,
- 23:51Speaker 2: Like he's kind of at his Rappie number since May one.
- 23:53Speaker 2: He's two sixty four, three, thirty eight, five forty with
- 23:56Speaker 2: the Giants. Those are not park adjusted. That's his slash
- 23:59Speaker 2: line with the Giant. So like, he's not the problem
- 24:01Speaker 2: from a hitting perspective, But you don't want to see that. No,
- 24:06Speaker 2: doesn't that kind of show you there's more going on?
- 24:10Speaker 6: It does?
- 24:11Speaker 5: It does? And but has he had a moment like this,
- 24:14Speaker 5: we've seen it visually before, it was he said, she said,
- 24:17Speaker 5: And then Big Poppy was like, nah, I think Raffie's great.
- 24:21Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden, Big Poppy turns around
- 24:23Speaker 5: and was like no, no, no, no, Like I remember
- 24:25Speaker 5: where my paychecks come from, So Raffi's awesome. Like, I
- 24:28Speaker 5: guess we're just gonna have to be able to view
- 24:31Speaker 5: It's like Manny Machada. We're gonna to view it based
- 24:33Speaker 5: on the things that happen in games. Like if you
- 24:36Speaker 5: have immature moments like Raffi just had and you don't speak, what.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Are we supposed to say?
- 24:43Speaker 6: Like how are we.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Supposed to misconstrue something that we never hear your side
- 24:47Speaker 5: of it? So maybe maybe it's a little bit immature,
- 24:51Speaker 5: But I think there's also a I think there's just
- 24:55Speaker 5: double standards, not the right word. Superstars are treated differently.
- 24:58Speaker 5: Like if I'm a manager of IT team, I may
- 25:00Speaker 5: say I'm gonna treat you all fairly, but I'm gonna
- 25:03Speaker 5: treat each of you, not treat each each of you equally,
- 25:07Speaker 5: but I'll treat you fairly because you're not all equal.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Some of you are better, So superstars need to be
- 25:13Speaker 5: treated differently, but they also need to make sure they're
- 25:17Speaker 5: respecting what's going on on this team.
- 25:21Speaker 4: I kind of disagree with you there, superstar, non superstar,
- 25:25Speaker 4: you gotta be held accountable. I don't care if you
- 25:28Speaker 4: are better than this guy. There's certain things on winning
- 25:32Speaker 4: clubs that shouldn't be and I get it, we understand
- 25:35Speaker 4: the fire, but that to me is like, I don't
- 25:38Speaker 4: think superstars should get a pass because he's a superstar.
- 25:41Speaker 4: You know what, You put your boots and your clothes
- 25:43Speaker 4: on just like the next man. So if it's something
- 25:45Speaker 4: that you need to be chewed up for just because
- 25:48Speaker 4: you make a lot of money in you good don't
- 25:49Speaker 4: mean you get a pass. And I think that's where
- 25:51Speaker 4: this game has gone because a lot of these guys
- 25:53Speaker 4: have been getting paid and getting you know, passes on
- 25:56Speaker 4: being accountable for things when it's like, bro, it's just
- 25:58Speaker 4: simple communication. You said your legs for short. They probably
- 26:02Speaker 4: told you, hey, you lead off this and you get on,
- 26:04Speaker 4: we're gonna pinch run for you. If that wasn't communicated,
- 26:07Speaker 4: that's a fault on the team, But that's also a
- 26:09Speaker 4: fault on them just not really communicating. But anybody knows.
- 26:12Speaker 4: I don't care your status. Accountability to me is big.
- 26:15Speaker 4: How you treat somebody should be throughout that clubhouse because
- 26:19Speaker 4: everybody putting on that uniform.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And I get it.
- 26:21Speaker 4: There's certain things you let superstars slide with as far
- 26:23Speaker 4: as okay, yeah, hey cut when I was there, you
- 26:27Speaker 4: know what, you don't need to run ninety percent on
- 26:29Speaker 4: that ball back to the picture, but I need you
- 26:31Speaker 4: to give me sixty or seventy, you know, don't and
- 26:33Speaker 4: don't show me up, you know, And I get it
- 26:36Speaker 4: in those moments, But like, I don't think you'd see
- 26:39Speaker 4: real leaders of a team look at a manager and
- 26:41Speaker 4: be like, bro, I'm not coming out. And to me,
- 26:44Speaker 4: that's an accountability thing. You let things slide and then
- 26:47Speaker 4: it makes it makes it acceptable for other people.
- 26:51Speaker 5: You said it, you said at the beginning of that
- 26:53Speaker 5: statement right there, you said it, Jaa, you said a
- 26:56Speaker 5: real leader. Maybe they don't have a real leader maybe
- 26:59Speaker 5: or maybe maybe he's not that real leader. And I
- 27:01Speaker 5: think that's okay because I don't know that he wants
- 27:04Speaker 5: to be that leader. I think they paid William Domas
- 27:08Speaker 5: to be that guy. I think they have opportunities for
- 27:11Speaker 5: other guys to step up. Logan Webb's that guy. But
- 27:15Speaker 5: the reality is they're not all treated the same. They're
- 27:19Speaker 5: not all treated the same, and never should the respect
- 27:22Speaker 5: ever change. No, that's that's not gonna happen. But Jay
- 27:26Speaker 5: hay is gonna be treated way differently in some cases
- 27:30Speaker 5: than Andrew McCutcheon is. In fact, even even with Jay
- 27:34Speaker 5: hayes an All Star, even if Raffie Devers never came
- 27:37Speaker 5: to me and said his legs were sore, Raffie, you
- 27:40Speaker 5: ain't as fast as Jonah Cox.
- 27:42Speaker 6: That's it.
- 27:42Speaker 5: We need his bag, we need We don't score runs,
- 27:45Speaker 5: so I need this ball to float into the outfield
- 27:47Speaker 5: and we're gonna score because Jonah Cox stole stole second
- 27:51Speaker 5: base and now we got a tie ball game.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Also right, if the name of the game is winning,
- 27:59Speaker 2: whatever you feeling so or not, Jonah Cox is much
- 28:03Speaker 2: faster than you, Bro. It's two one in the ninth.
- 28:06Speaker 2: We're about to get swept on a Sunday against the Marlins.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Thank you for your two turning into a walk. You
- 28:12Speaker 2: did your job. Go to the dugout, high five everyone,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and say let's score that damn run.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Period. That's the end. You're getting so much money to
- 28:21Speaker 1: do that. You got on base.
- 28:22Speaker 2: I mean, homer would have been nice, but you got
- 28:23Speaker 2: on base, like you battled in a net bat. Done right,
- 28:27Speaker 2: That's it.
- 28:27Speaker 3: That's arbitration.
- 28:30Speaker 2: No, yeah, bullets like no, this is the most basic
- 28:33Speaker 2: baseball strategy too, Like, there's no debate here. Your manager
- 28:36Speaker 2: wants to put in a pinch runner to try and
- 28:38Speaker 2: freaking score either steal a base or yeah, maybe there's
- 28:41Speaker 2: a gapper or some extra base hit that turns into
- 28:43Speaker 2: a run, and the percentage chance is someone else is
- 28:46Speaker 2: scoring that better than you. The only reason you want
- 28:48Speaker 2: to stay in the game is you think, oh, this
- 28:49Speaker 2: is going extras. I'm getting in an extra A B.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Because you're not staying there. You're not making a case
- 28:54Speaker 2: that you're faster than Cox. You want to do a
- 28:56Speaker 2: freaking a race after the game. You want to race
- 28:59Speaker 2: Cox after the games? Yeah, that goes. You don't want
- 29:01Speaker 2: that smoke. You're there for power, You're there for your bat.
- 29:04Speaker 2: You did your job. Go sit down and high five
- 29:06Speaker 2: everyone and show that you're a good teammate. It wasn't
- 29:09Speaker 2: just that that he was arguing. Then then he goes
- 29:10Speaker 2: into the dugout and who was it Jase Tinkler trying
- 29:14Speaker 2: to give him a little smack, like good stuff, and
- 29:16Speaker 2: he avoids him, like like it's a that to me
- 29:19Speaker 2: was the true temper tantrum right there, like don't touch me?
- 29:22Speaker 2: What that's too much?
- 29:26Speaker 6: That move?
- 29:27Speaker 5: That move hearkens me back when you were talking, back
- 29:31Speaker 5: to what Craig Breslo said, and I kind of laughed
- 29:33Speaker 5: at it. Craig Breslow said, we're gonna be a better
- 29:36Speaker 5: team without Raffi Devers, and I was like, what you're
- 29:38Speaker 5: gonna be You're gonna find thirty five Homers somewhere else,
- 29:41Speaker 5: And I laughed at it. But if there's if he
- 29:44Speaker 5: did this in public, I have a hard time believing
- 29:48Speaker 5: there's not worse happening behind closed doors. That's it, And
- 29:52Speaker 5: maybe this is this is fresh. It just happened yesterday.
- 29:55Speaker 5: The team's not playing well, and I'm overreacting to it.
- 29:58Speaker 5: But if it happens in PubL Blake, I wonder what's
- 30:01Speaker 5: going on behind closed doors? And maybe Craig Breslow was right.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Maybe I owe Craig Beslow an apology.

- 31:11Speaker 2: Pat Murphy back surgery on Thursday. As Adam Mcalvey said,
- 31:16Speaker 2: it's going to be appetizer. Then he gets right hip
- 31:17Speaker 2: surgery during the All Star break, so he does not
- 31:20Speaker 2: anticipate missing any Brewer games. And while we're on the
- 31:24Speaker 2: Brewers fun series this weekend, guys, Josh, we had Mis
- 31:28Speaker 2: pitching again on Friday, dominating for a while. But the
- 31:30Speaker 2: Braves did just enough almost playoff baseball feel to it,
- 31:33Speaker 2: where they're like, hey, we just got to get contact.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Let's figure this out. Due Bond's been there. Clutch guys
- 31:37Speaker 2: like almost four hundred with two outs and runners in
- 31:39Speaker 2: scoring position, gets it done. They had another close win
- 31:43Speaker 2: the next day against Ashby and the bullpen for the Brewers.
- 31:46Speaker 2: So the Braves they played them well there at home.
- 31:49Speaker 4: That was Askedby's first loss, right, thank I, Saul, Yeah, yeah, man,
- 31:55Speaker 4: what you got to two teams at the top of
- 31:56Speaker 4: the division.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Good baseball man.
- 31:59Speaker 4: And know, as you mentioned, the potentially kind of felt
- 32:01Speaker 4: like the playoffs. You know, it's always good to have
- 32:04Speaker 4: series like that, you know, especially between teams, because you
- 32:07Speaker 4: know that's what you want.
- 32:09Speaker 3: Showed up to the to the field every day.
- 32:11Speaker 4: There's so many games that can go sideways, you know,
- 32:14Speaker 4: big score here, big score there. But this weekend show,
- 32:17Speaker 4: when you got two teams at the top of their game,
- 32:19Speaker 4: top of their divisions, and they meet and you have
- 32:21Speaker 4: those games like that. It's it's refreshing. I think it's
- 32:24Speaker 4: good for baseball. You're seeing good pitching, you're seeing timely hitting,
- 32:29Speaker 4: and you're you're you're just seeing the overall product of
- 32:31Speaker 4: what you know, fans want to see, you know, some
- 32:33Speaker 4: exciting games, back and forth, good pitching, all those things
- 32:36Speaker 4: mentioned before. And I'm sure the Atlanta Braves fans enjoyed
- 32:39Speaker 4: it because it was it was in Atlanta, right, and
- 32:41Speaker 4: they had some pretty exciting wins. But you know, it's
- 32:45Speaker 4: always good to see good baseball. And you know, you
- 32:47Speaker 4: mentioned Pat Murphy and the Brewers. He didn't miss much.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I know we've got some beef, some chirping between Trek
- 33:02Speaker 2: Scougel and the White Sox on Friday.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Mike Vassel the picture.
- 33:06Speaker 2: He's the wand guy, right, Kratz, He's the wand guy
- 33:09Speaker 2: on the White Sox. He's got the magic wandering. Yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 2: he looks like a good time. He looks like fun.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Him and Schoogle had some fun. Schooble seemed like he
- 33:17Speaker 2: had fun going back and forth with him after the game.
- 33:19Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, some good words getting exchanged there, But
- 33:22Speaker 2: what did you think of a little back and forth.
- 33:26Speaker 5: I liked it until I saw a little bit of
- 33:29Speaker 5: a little bit of interaction later with Vassal and you
- 33:33Speaker 5: know his teammates Scooble obviously Vassals. You know he's that
- 33:39Speaker 5: not clubhouse lawyer, but like dugout chirper, he's not he's
- 33:43Speaker 5: not healthy right now, he's got the wand the boys
- 33:45Speaker 5: are playing good. I think some of that, like let's
- 33:48Speaker 5: make sure we're we're not like we're not rustling the
- 33:53Speaker 5: nest too much. I'm not saying that the Tigers are
- 33:55Speaker 5: gonna come back. I'm saying the White Sox. You guys
- 33:57Speaker 5: are playing well. You guys, ever are an energy team,
- 33:59Speaker 5: and I think Vassals part of that energy. I just think,
- 34:03Speaker 5: you know, it didn't come out. It didn't come out
- 34:06Speaker 5: too well. And I saw a little bit of the
- 34:07Speaker 5: interaction before, like he's in a dugout laugh and everybody's laughing.
- 34:11Speaker 5: So maybe it was a good time. Maybe maybe that's
- 34:13Speaker 5: what's fired these boys up a little bit, but didn't
- 34:16Speaker 5: come out on top for the weekend. So I just
- 34:18Speaker 5: want to make sure, like, hey, you're riding high. You're
- 34:21Speaker 5: doing well, Like, let's stick to what's kept us going well,
- 34:25Speaker 5: and maybe this is it. Maybe they've been chirping and
- 34:27Speaker 5: nobody's chirp back at him.
- 34:28Speaker 4: Yet, right, Yeah, we don't know for all what it's worth,
- 34:33Speaker 4: you know, how long they've been doing it. But obviously
- 34:36Speaker 4: from a standpoint when you got to got like schooba
- 34:38Speaker 4: on them, Ount, I'm sure you know him missing some time,
- 34:40Speaker 4: that's probably you know, oh man, I missed this type
- 34:43Speaker 4: of competition, So I'm sure for him as you read
- 34:45Speaker 4: his comments, it's fun chirping back and forth. But I
- 34:48Speaker 4: agree with you if that's something that was out of
- 34:50Speaker 4: character for their dugout, you know, you want to stay
- 34:54Speaker 4: the same. But if that's what they've been doing, as
- 34:57Speaker 4: you mentioned with the White Sox being an energy team,
- 34:59Speaker 4: you know, by all means, continue to do what you're
- 35:01Speaker 4: doing because that's that's what works for y'all. But you know,
- 35:04Speaker 4: just know that some guys you're going to get a
- 35:06Speaker 4: reaction out of, whether you like it or not. But
- 35:09Speaker 4: if it's all competition and ain't nobody you know, trying
- 35:12Speaker 4: to harm nobody, Hey, things are going to be said
- 35:14Speaker 4: in the heat of the moment, all you sup, all
- 35:16Speaker 4: you can't get me out, all go sit down. But
- 35:19Speaker 4: you know within that, you know, hey, every team has
- 35:22Speaker 4: had a guy that's not active right now that you know.
- 35:25Speaker 4: It's keeping vibes up. And sometimes those guys are there
- 35:28Speaker 4: to get under the skin of the other team, you know,
- 35:30Speaker 4: just to get you off your game. And you know
- 35:33Speaker 4: sometimes that's just the part of you know, why you
- 35:35Speaker 4: got guys in the dugout of hey, we need all
- 35:37Speaker 4: the energy we can. And I didn't say anything wrong
- 35:40Speaker 4: with it, because I mean, it's just chirping. You play,
- 35:44Speaker 4: you know enough chirping, So I didn't say anything wrong
- 35:47Speaker 4: with it other than just make sure you're chirping the
- 35:49Speaker 4: right people, because some people will say, okay, you poked
- 35:53Speaker 4: the bear, all right, I'm coming for you.
- 35:56Speaker 5: That's that's where like you saw you saw turn around
- 35:59Speaker 5: in Pittsburgh, you were part of that turnaround Pittsburgh. All
- 36:01Speaker 5: of a sudden, the boys start getting a little more
- 36:03Speaker 5: confident and the White Sox are winning. So when that
- 36:08Speaker 5: chirping happens, like teams, teams are all of a sudden
- 36:11Speaker 5: coming after the White Sox, how do the White Sox respond?
- 36:14Speaker 5: Is going to be the tail of two halves of
- 36:17Speaker 5: a season, or it's going to be the tail of Hey,
- 36:20Speaker 5: this is our playoff run team, and this is how
- 36:22Speaker 5: we did it. Like it's how you respond when you're
- 36:24Speaker 5: the one being hunted, exactly.
- 36:28Speaker 4: And it's fun to be on that side because it's
- 36:31Speaker 4: been a long time for the White Sox. But as
- 36:33Speaker 4: you mentioned, how are they going to handle it? Because
- 36:36Speaker 4: you know, you can chirt, but you got to be
- 36:37Speaker 4: able to back it up. And you know, as you mentioned,
- 36:39Speaker 4: they're riding high right now, but it's a long season.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Like to see him keep it up. But at the
- 36:44Speaker 4: same time, hey, this is a long season. You better
- 36:47Speaker 4: be able to back it up for the whole time.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah, and that teams in your division, don't don't poke
- 36:52Speaker 1: the bear there.
- 36:53Speaker 2: The Tigers are chilling right now, you know, and now
- 36:55Speaker 2: they swept on they're having a good month. They're starting
- 36:58Speaker 2: to turn things around a little bit. Vassal said, I
- 37:01Speaker 2: was up there on the top step helping the team out,
- 37:04Speaker 2: cheering them on. Next thing, I know, I'm getting reamed out.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Schoobl did a lot of smiling when he was talking
- 37:09Speaker 2: about everything, So, I mean, he said it was some
- 37:11Speaker 2: pretty choice words, and I shared back some choice words.
- 37:14Speaker 1: School said. It was good stuff.
- 37:16Speaker 2: So to me, you're you're kind of firing up the
- 37:18Speaker 2: Tigers the way you don't want to fire up the
- 37:20Speaker 2: Tigers in mid June, you know, like just let them
- 37:24Speaker 2: do their.
- 37:24Speaker 1: Thing, right, Josh.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I mean the White Socks are kind of new to
- 37:27Speaker 2: this party. They are fiery though as a team, like
- 37:29Speaker 2: there is an identity there when you watch this team,
- 37:32Speaker 2: it is it's almost like dating the polar opposite of
- 37:35Speaker 2: what they were a few years ago, where you felt
- 37:37Speaker 2: like nobody on that team that was getting paid was
- 37:39Speaker 2: ever on the field. Now, these guys, I mean antonotcha
- 37:42Speaker 2: get hit by a pitch every other five seconds?
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, you were there, you see. So you watch it
- 37:46Speaker 1: White Tox team this year and you watch it when
- 37:48Speaker 1: you were over there, and.
- 37:49Speaker 2: You're like, they completely just gutted it and started with
- 37:52Speaker 2: guys that are going to die to be on the
- 37:54Speaker 2: field every day.
- 37:56Speaker 4: And it carries over, as you mentioned, lists to the comments,
- 38:00Speaker 4: whether you're on the field or not.
- 38:02Speaker 3: We're gonna be high energy, and as.
- 38:05Speaker 4: You mentioned, sometimes you bring that high energy, and what
- 38:07Speaker 4: it was was sometimes there's going to be some people
- 38:10Speaker 4: that are going to match that energy. And you just
- 38:11Speaker 4: better be prepared for that energy to be matched. Then
- 38:14Speaker 4: time will till.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Yeah for Detroit. So Mike Petrieller just tweeted this an
- 38:22Speaker 2: hour ago. Kratz best record in the American League this
- 38:25Speaker 2: month and it's June twenty seconds, so we're a few
- 38:27Speaker 2: weeks in. Second most homers in baseball during this month,
- 38:32Speaker 2: second lowest dra And now this is perfect test mode here.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Six of their next ten come against the Yankees, a
- 38:38Speaker 2: Yankees team without Judge, but still a good Yankees team.
- 38:41Speaker 1: So you get to face some good competition here, not
- 38:45Speaker 1: that the White Talks were bad competition. The White Talks
- 38:47Speaker 1: have played well this year.
- 38:48Speaker 2: But it's not a cupcake schedule coming up for this team.
- 38:52Speaker 5: Yes, one hundred test and they started it off on
- 38:55Speaker 5: the right foot, they really did, because you're not going
- 38:58Speaker 5: to face better competition in the American League unfortunately. That's
- 39:02Speaker 5: just Hey, you gotta beat who you play. And the
- 39:05Speaker 5: White Sox have been playing well. They went in and
- 39:07Speaker 5: took two or three from them. The Yankees just lost
- 39:11Speaker 5: two of three. So you say, okay, this is a
- 39:14Speaker 5: time we gotta we gotta pounce on this. We have
- 39:17Speaker 5: to You have to keep hitting if you're gonna if
- 39:19Speaker 5: they're not gonna hit, they gotta hitdingers like they are
- 39:21Speaker 5: in June.
- 39:24Speaker 2: You know why you are enjoying this minute because we're happy, Krats.
- 39:27Speaker 2: We're happy because we're wearing mac Weldon.
- 39:30Speaker 5: Yes, I'm six foot five and nobody can give me
- 39:32Speaker 5: tall clothing, but mack Weldon allows me to have it,
- 39:36Speaker 5: so I don't really have to care about how I look,
- 39:39Speaker 5: and I still look good. Because I don't put a

- 39:43Speaker 5: my clothes.

- 40:19Speaker 2: m ack W E L d O N dot com
- 40:23Speaker 2: code foul. Did you guys see the there's been a
- 40:26Speaker 2: bunch of pinch hitting articles about the Tigers and now
- 40:29Speaker 2: that's been a big part of their game over the
- 40:31Speaker 2: past few years, and this year they're one of the
- 40:33Speaker 2: worst teams with pinch hitters. Right, it's starting to backfire
- 40:37Speaker 2: and guy's gotten cold, Like Jami Jones has been one
- 40:39Speaker 2: of those guys who's popped up in games mid game
- 40:41Speaker 2: late and one of the what was it Saturday, I
- 40:44Speaker 2: think he's mid game replacing Kerry Carpenter and he strikes
- 40:49Speaker 2: out and it put him in a I think he
- 40:51Speaker 2: had been in an oh for twenty one snapped it,
- 40:54Speaker 2: and then I think with that strikeout he was still
- 40:56Speaker 2: like one for his last twenty three, so he was
- 40:59Speaker 2: getting food heavily. Fans are just sick of that strategy
- 41:02Speaker 2: when it's not working, And here's what he said about it.
- 41:06Speaker 8: Yeah, I think that's the first time in my career
- 41:09Speaker 8: I've been booed by an entire stadium, and I feel
- 41:13Speaker 8: like fans forget.
- 41:15Speaker 9: That We're trying just as hard, I promise, but obviously
- 41:19Speaker 9: it's it's a bad feeling.
- 41:20Speaker 8: You never want to get booed by your home fans,
- 41:23Speaker 8: But at the end of the day, I can't get
- 41:25Speaker 8: wrapped up in that. Obviously, if I got wrapped up
- 41:27Speaker 8: in it, I would have not been able.
- 41:28Speaker 9: To do what I did my last set bad.
- 41:29Speaker 8: I would have been worrying about, you know, if the
- 41:31Speaker 8: fans are gonna boo me again.
- 41:32Speaker 9: But you know, hopefully I start turning it on so
- 41:35Speaker 9: they can forgive me.
- 41:36Speaker 8: But but no, I mean, it's just part of it. Obviously,
- 41:40Speaker 8: I know that the entire city wants us to win,
- 41:42Speaker 8: They want us to be good.
- 41:43Speaker 9: They know how good we can be as a team, and.
- 41:45Speaker 8: You know, obviously we want to do that too. So
- 41:47Speaker 8: I feel for him, I really do. But nobody takes
- 41:51Speaker 8: it harder than we do. So we're just trying to
- 41:53Speaker 8: do everything we can to put together good abs, good results.
- 41:56Speaker 8: And right now, obviously I've had some sparings and you know,
- 42:01Speaker 8: it's been big moments where I've been put into the
- 42:03Speaker 8: game and obviously I want to contribute. So just trying
- 42:06Speaker 8: to do everything I can to get back into that
- 42:07Speaker 8: rhythm and we you know, keep.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Going good attitude.
- 42:12Speaker 2: But yeah, it can be tough when you're struggling and
- 42:14Speaker 2: then they keep putting you in these big moments and
- 42:16Speaker 2: you're carry Carpenter is a dude there and you replace
- 42:19Speaker 2: a mid game like they stick to their process, but
- 42:22Speaker 2: that's a tough process to take someone like that out.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I get what they've been doing for a long time
- 42:27Speaker 2: now with the platooning, but it also can stunt development.
- 42:30Speaker 2: We've gone over that quite a bit too, Josh, where
- 42:32Speaker 2: you know, constantly guys are looking knowing, uh uh left,
- 42:35Speaker 2: he's going to come in the game. I'm going to
- 42:37Speaker 2: get taken out. I'm only going to get half my
- 42:38Speaker 2: bats today.
- 42:40Speaker 4: I know how it feels. I've been there, and especially
- 42:44Speaker 4: guys that aren't used to pinch hitting. But then you
- 42:46Speaker 4: mentioned pinch hitting for Kerry Carpenter, and yes he might
- 42:49Speaker 4: have gotten booed, but some of those boos aren't necessarily
- 42:52Speaker 4: directed just at him. They booed after he struck out.
- 42:55Speaker 4: A lot of it is probably buoying the manager too,
- 42:58Speaker 4: like why do we keep doing this? But you know
- 43:01Speaker 4: he meant you mentioned his struggles when you don't play
- 43:03Speaker 4: every day and then you're being thrown in there to
- 43:05Speaker 4: pinch it against some of the best arms out the bullpen.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Then it's a tough situation.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Not as you mentioned, you heard him say he's trying,
- 43:12Speaker 4: but he had a good attitude about it because you know,
- 43:14Speaker 4: he knows every time he steps up there, he has
- 43:17Speaker 4: confidence in himself.
- 43:18Speaker 3: Just hasn't gotten the results. But that's not easy.
- 43:20Speaker 4: I think twenty twelve, I think I was like three
- 43:24Speaker 4: for twenty three pinchhitting.
- 43:25Speaker 3: So and that was just pinshitting.
- 43:27Speaker 4: So when you mentioned and I was pinshitting and at
- 43:29Speaker 4: times where oh, go pinchhit for Garret Jones, go pinch
- 43:32Speaker 4: it for Pedro because they brung it lefty, and it's like, okay,
- 43:37Speaker 4: you know, and so I've been in those shoes. So
- 43:39Speaker 4: to hear him say that, it's like, yeah, I want
- 43:41Speaker 4: my opportunity. But then you know, you strike out, you
- 43:43Speaker 4: might hear booze, but it's like, you know what, hey,
- 43:46Speaker 4: you got to shake that off because you know, baseball
- 43:48Speaker 4: is a short term memory game. And as he said,
- 43:51Speaker 4: you know he wouldn't have been able to do what
- 43:52Speaker 4: he did his next that bad at feet was worrying
- 43:54Speaker 4: about being booed.
- 43:55Speaker 3: But it's definitely tough.
- 43:56Speaker 4: But it also shows that when you got guys in
- 43:59Speaker 4: a lineup, trust him to do what they do, and
- 44:01Speaker 4: you don't make these moves when it makes sense. Just
- 44:03Speaker 4: because they bring a guy out the pin in the
- 44:05Speaker 4: six or seven doesn't mean you have to make that
- 44:06Speaker 4: move because it's a lot easier for guys that are
- 44:09Speaker 4: already in a fload of game to hit.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Then bring somebody off the bench.
- 44:11Speaker 6: Code.
- 44:23Speaker 2: This is an aerk Kratz special for slap. Look at
- 44:26Speaker 2: what Ken Rosenthal put out there. It's a thirty one
- 44:29Speaker 2: year old getting a call up to the show. The
- 44:32Speaker 2: name is Julian Garcia, a tenth round pick in twenty sixteen,
- 44:36Speaker 2: making his major league debut for the Reds at Triple A.
- 44:39Speaker 2: He earned it three zero three ERA, punching out thirteen
- 44:43Speaker 2: point six per nine krats. Not many people can speak
- 44:47Speaker 2: to this, you can.
- 44:50Speaker 5: Getting called up at thirty one years old is not
- 44:53Speaker 5: the way you drew it up. But you know what
- 44:56Speaker 5: you're there now, So go ahead and just spend ten
- 44:58Speaker 5: years there tire as a forty one year old's that's
- 45:01Speaker 5: the way to do it, Julian.
- 45:04Speaker 2: That's what he did. That's what he did. It's very impressive.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Let's show this tweet from you know, Cyrus, one of
- 45:10Speaker 2: my favorite baseball nerds, and over the weekend he put
- 45:13Speaker 2: this out there. I figured you'd like this scrat, So
- 45:14Speaker 2: we're going to show you the drag by date on
- 45:16Speaker 2: all four seam fastballs.
- 45:18Speaker 1: He said.
- 45:19Speaker 2: That's what we're showing you on the screen. He said,
- 45:20Speaker 2: if it seems like there's been more offense recently, there has.
- 45:23Speaker 2: And well, there's this drag on the ball currently lower
- 45:27Speaker 2: than any year other than twenty nineteen, when baseball broke
- 45:30Speaker 2: all kinds of home run records. He said, super weird,
- 45:33Speaker 2: considering MLB owns the ball maker and has humidors in
- 45:37Speaker 2: every ballpark.
- 45:40Speaker 6: WHOA, no way, super weird. Must be a coincidence.
- 45:45Speaker 5: Wait, well was the other year that there was low
- 45:47Speaker 5: drag on the ball? Oh, twenty nineteen, and it was
- 45:50Speaker 5: proven that these balls were made differently?
- 45:53Speaker 6: Wait, major League Baseball owns the ballmaker, and yet we
- 45:56Speaker 6: can't get one uniform baseball.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Of conspiracies?
- 46:02Speaker 4: What was it a cooner the other day, like in
- 46:05Speaker 4: a dugout, like a ball like this?
- 46:09Speaker 5: No, no, jay, Hey, baseball players wouldn't know.
- 46:13Speaker 3: They're just big buffoons, they're big jummies.
- 46:17Speaker 4: I think a BP ball might have found his way.
- 46:19Speaker 4: That's what he was looking at.
- 46:21Speaker 5: Oh wait, wait, wait, wait, there's different baseballs like BP
- 46:25Speaker 5: balls or home run derby balls. Jay, Hey, you must
- 46:28Speaker 5: be an idiot because you don't wear a backwards hat,
- 46:30Speaker 5: because only idiots wear backwards hats.
- 46:34Speaker 3: I was just merely speculating.
- 46:36Speaker 4: I don't know if there are different Sometimes some of
- 46:37Speaker 4: them say practice, maybe they don't.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 46:40Speaker 6: Hey, well, we played for the pirates. I know we're
- 46:41Speaker 6: running out of time. We played for the pirates.
- 46:43Speaker 5: You know, the pirates were never buying the good BP balls,
- 46:46Speaker 5: and you would hit them things and they'd be like
- 46:50Speaker 5: anywhere and they get in the game the balls a lot.
- 46:57Speaker 1: That's good ware.
- 47:01Speaker 2: So guys, people want to know, like, do you yes,
- 47:04Speaker 2: the baseballs clearly are getting built differently year to year.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Do you think that there's conspiracy theory deep enough to say, hey,
- 47:11Speaker 2: there's people sitting in a room like let's tweak those specs.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Or do you think that there's just massive inconsistencies because
- 47:17Speaker 2: of the way that it's built.
- 47:18Speaker 1: You think the option A is going on.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Crats They're sitting in a room and they're like, hey,
- 47:22Speaker 2: how are we going to tweak the baseball this year?
- 47:25Speaker 5: This is a whole conspiracy theory. You know me and
- 47:28Speaker 5: my conspiracy theories. Hey, pitching starts to get too expensive,
- 47:32Speaker 5: Let's change the ball to be a little Oh, hitting
- 47:34Speaker 5: starts to get a little expensive.
- 47:35Speaker 6: Let's make the ball a little bit better for pitchers.
- 47:37Speaker 6: But like, of.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Course, yes, you're talking about massive sample sizes that can
- 47:43Speaker 5: change and swing how players are paid.
- 47:46Speaker 6: Yes, there's a huge, huge difference.
- 47:48Speaker 3: That's why I love you.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I have a good conspiracy theory. He's full of them. Josh,
