Latest / What's Your (Least) Favorite Scary Movie? / #338: Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Thank God for rednecks. Yeah.
- 0:12Well, there was Your Least Favorite Scary Movie, The
- 0:14podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly and the
- 0:17absurd, and all of our favorite and least favorite scary movies.
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has this
- 0:22fanbase. Even if we don't always get it.
- 0:23My name is Travis. My name is Jesse.
- 0:25And welcome back to Zombieland. We're talking about the sequel
- 0:29today, Zombieland. Double Tap.
- 0:31After all this time, back for more.
- 0:33Yeah, Yep. And you know, this is, I guess,
- 0:36kind of a Part 2 of our Patreon pick because we, we, I don't
- 0:40think we mentioned it on the last episode, but we had a, we
- 0:42did. Yeah.
- 0:43Well, we mentioned it on the one before that because I said we
- 0:46had a tie for our Patreon vote. And we also didn't look at the
- 0:51April calendar closely until we started putting the schedule
- 0:54together and we realized that there were 5 Thursdays.
- 0:57We didn't have a fifth movie plan.
- 0:58So tiebreaker was just everybody is a winner.
- 1:01Yeah, yeah. So that's what's happening.
- 1:03That's why we got this one going for y'all today.
- 1:06Do we have any announcements? Several, all right, so first of
- 1:10all our TV or not to be after a weeks delay.
- 1:13Thank you for your patience for everybody that came out this
- 1:17past weekend that was on Zombie Verse.
- 1:19It was a fun time. Go listen to it.
- 1:22Second for our budget tier bubbies over on the Patreon.
- 1:25We will have a bonus episode out before the end of the month.
- 1:30Hopefully we'll get to record it next weekend.
- 1:35We're also going to have to very soon record our new franchise
- 1:41announcement video and that's for everybody.
- 1:44So everybody keep your eyes on the out on the lookout for that
- 1:48on social media because that's starting in May.
- 1:50That's right, it's coming, right?
- 1:51On so quick so soon so just keep an eye out for that and I think
- 2:00that's awesome all of my. This guy covered.
- 2:04Yeah, which is a lot. That was a lot to cover.
- 2:06That's a lot going. On right now, it kind of all
- 2:09happens a lot at the same time. At the end of the month then,
- 2:11Yeah, so cool. Be on the lookout for that.
- 2:14Yeah, that also means there will be another Patreon vote too
- 2:17coming out soon. Yes.
- 2:19So be on the lookout for that also, yes, but for now, stay
- 2:23here cuz we're gonna be talking about Zombieland too.
- 2:25Trust we have a goddamn poll. Oh, God, we do, don't we?
- 2:29Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm kind of curious to see what
- 2:31the results for this were. Right.
- 2:32OK, let me pull it up here. OK, so we wanted to ask
- 2:37everybody This came up during the discussion of last week's
- 2:40episode. Which is a better time, the Fun
- 2:45Center, Gaddy Town, McDonald's Play Happen Playplace.
- 2:50Playplace or Chuck E Cheese's. So we have 0% for Fun Center,
- 2:57which was Jesse's pick, 60% Gaddy Town, which was my pick,
- 3:030% for McDonald's play place, Wow, 40% for Chuck E Cheese.
- 3:09Clearly the people are down with pizza and games.
- 3:13And obviously I defended it on my on my pick last week.
- 3:18I'm going to Gaddytown. Gaddytown is the one that has
- 3:20movies, has games, has pizza, cheese sticks.
- 3:24Great time, no scary mouse. Fun centres, there were lots of
- 3:29different types of names for them, but those were just like
- 3:34like ultimate playgrounds and those were so fun.
- 3:38Highlight of my childhood when we could go to those.
- 3:41But also, like, McDonald's Playplace was there for us.
- 3:44Like did. McDonald's play, yeah, Like
- 3:46that. That was for like the.
- 3:48I mean, we had one of those where I grew up, you know, and
- 3:51that was probably the only one I had like.
- 3:52That it was like sometimes like the the like cheapest, easiest
- 3:57place for us to be able to play when we were younger, That like,
- 4:00McDonald's really took care of us in a way that I don't think
- 4:04we appreciate as adults. That's because it got shitty.
- 4:06I agree. I think it was just always
- 4:09shitty. It's just people started caring
- 4:11more. I don't know.
- 4:12I think that there was a time where obviously I was a kid at
- 4:15that time, so it was magical to me for sure.
- 4:17But you know. Like it was always good.
- 4:20It's like my mom would go, like she could sit there and read her
- 4:22book and like we could play and we'd get cheap.
- 4:25Like when the cheeseburgers were actually $0.99, you know?
- 4:30Exactly. That's good times.
- 4:33Oh, the good old days. OK, OK, well let's talk about
- 4:37post apocalyptic days and. Post Acropolis.
- 4:42Post Acropolis. Yes, that's right.
- 4:44Forgive me. All right, let's talk about
- 4:46Zombieland. Double tap.
- 4:48Yay. OK.
- 4:49You're just trying to check your phone for that.
- 4:51Information I'm going to have to use my phone for some of this
- 4:53information because whenever I was doing the notes for this
- 4:56right here, my iPad just shifted all of the things I wrote way
- 5:02out of whack and now it's just hard for me to read everything
- 5:05here but I'm able to get a lot of this stuff.
- 5:08So I'm going to do 5050 on my phone, looking at some of this
- 5:11stuff, and then the other fifty. I've just got to have to power
- 5:15through this. Right now I relate after what
- 5:16happened to me with cooties so. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's not fun.
- 5:20It's a hard life, people doing this shit right.
- 5:22Here it's a it's a spirit killer it.
- 5:25Really is. Because it never happens when
- 5:28you just started. It happens on your.
- 5:30Own at the end. Exactly.
- 5:31I was writing down the last bit and then that's when that shit
- 5:34happened. All right, so Zombieland double
- 5:38tap that movie, Oh my God hold release October 18th, 2019.
- 5:50We watched it on Tubi, and if you would like to watch it, you
- 5:53can also watch it on tubi. That's the only place you can
- 5:55stream it as of right now. There's also an option for prime
- 5:58as add on, I don't know what as it's.
- 6:00I didn't see anything. The only thing I saw with Prime
- 6:03is you can rent it there, which you can also rent it on Apple
- 6:07TV, YouTube. Fandango at Home.
- 6:09Written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Dave Callahan.
- 6:13Directed by Reuben Fisher. Special effects makeup by Tony
- 6:18Gardner. Yeah.
- 6:21Music by David Sardi. Starring Jesse Eisenberg as
- 6:25Columbus. Emma Stone motherfucking Jesse
- 6:28Eisenberg. Emma Stone is Wichita.
- 6:31Abigail Breslin as Little Rock. Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee.
- 6:35Zoe Duch as Deutsch. I assume it's Deutsch I.
- 6:41Just hear that in Fat Bastard or No Gold.
- 6:45Yeah. Gold member.
- 6:48Oh yeah, yeah. Even Joia as Berkeley, Luke
- 6:54Wilson as Albuquerque, Thomas Middleditch as Flagstaff.
- 6:57Rosario Dawson is Nevada and. Eventually Reno.
- 7:02Eventually Reno, yeah, yeah. And yeah, that that rounds up
- 7:05the gas there. All right, time for a favorite
- 7:10game on the show budget. Budget.
- 7:14I think this is a budget, yeah. This is big time budget.
- 7:17This is $42 million. Yep.
- 7:22I gotta say though, like being so into horror movies has really
- 7:25skewed my idea of what a typical budget is for a movie.
- 7:28I know like that. 42 is low budget for like an action movie.
- 7:33I know which this is kind of yeah, it's kind of insane.
- 7:37So the opening box office, it was 26.8 million worldwide
- 7:41gross, 122 million. So I did pretty well.
- 7:45IMDb score six point. Listen. .6.
- 7:57You all don't understand because Travis has edited this but there
- 8:01are like these insane pauses between his words this.
- 8:08Is so hard. How do people do this shit on
- 8:12the fly? I I have mad respect for
- 8:15anybody. I can do that shit.
- 8:18Oh my God. 6.6 IMDb 6. .6 IMDb OK.
- 8:22All right, I do have 3 movies from 2019.
- 8:24I've got them all right here. I know what I'm doing here.
- 8:26This will be easy. I've got a theme.
- 8:29The theme is going to be, oh, we're doing a sequel.
- 8:32OK, that's. OK, yeah, All right.
- 8:36So movie number 13 from hell. Oh, OK, we were doing a sequel.
- 8:41That one makes the least amount of sense because it's like, all
- 8:44right, one of your most notable actors is dead, so now you're
- 8:49going to do another movie. They.
- 8:50Started filming it when he was still alive that they had to
- 8:54change it considerably and then that's when they brought Richard
- 8:57Brake in. If you're going to replace him
- 8:59with anybody, Richard Brake is probably the best person to do
- 9:02that with. So I think it works out pretty
- 9:04well. I remember having a good enough
- 9:06time with that. Man, I just remember watching it
- 9:07and we were shocked at how Sick said.
- 9:10Yeah, yeah. The scene they didn't.
- 9:13Get to follow them. Yeah.
- 9:14So that movie came out September 16th, 2019.
- 9:17Had a $3 million budget. It's $2,000,000 gross, 5.4 on
- 9:22IMDb. All right, it's probably the one
- 9:26we revisit the least. Yeah, but there are times I'm
- 9:29like, should we watch that again?
- 9:30I don't think I would hate to ever watch it again.
- 9:32It's just it's I. If I'm watching one of those
- 9:35movies, I'm usually going to go with Devil's Rejects.
- 9:38Yeah, Devil's Rejects is like that is Rob Zombie's like.
- 9:43This is magnum opus. It is, yeah.
- 9:46It's so good movie #2 Happy Death Day to you.
- 9:50OK, Yeah, that came out February 13th, 2019.
- 9:55Had a 9 million budget, 64,000,000 gross, 6.2 IMDb
- 10:00score. That was just one where it's
- 10:03like a sequel that I didn't really need.
- 10:05I need it. I didn't have as much fun with
- 10:07it. This is a different genre.
- 10:09And I like. Just didn't like it.
- 10:12I didn't like it. That we put too much sci-fi into
- 10:16it, and I feel like with a time loop movie, you have to stay
- 10:20away from it. Yeah, yeah, the less.
- 10:23Explaining you try to do the best.
- 10:25Yeah, the more you try to explain it, if you just hand
- 10:28wave it away, people are gonna be able to accept that a lot
- 10:30easier than you offer this bullshit explanation.
- 10:34Or like, if you were gonna try and sciency it, do it in like a
- 10:38montage where angry physicists walk away from the camera like
- 10:41they do in Palm Springs. Yeah, sounds like you don't
- 10:44actually need my help here. Exactly.
- 10:46Yeah, and then you toss a goat in as a test.
- 10:49And then then we're just doing Palm Springs.
- 10:52Yeah, pretty much emphatic period, which is really just an
- 10:57exclamation point. All right, the final movie, 47
- 11:00meters down, uncaged. Yay, or as we call it in this
- 11:04house 48 meters down. Yeah, look, I'm not mad that
- 11:07that sequel exists, but it's just like AI didn't expect a
- 11:10sequel. I didn't and I love that it has
- 11:13nothing to do with the original. I'm OK with it.
- 11:15I like it. I think it does like a really
- 11:18good job as a sequel. You know, I didn't different
- 11:20enough. I didn't need Mandy Moore in a
- 11:22Jaws movie where the shark is out to get her and her family
- 11:26personally like. Yeah, I don't need that either.
- 11:28Yeah, it's fine. It does a good job.
- 11:30I like it. So that came out on August 16th.
- 11:33Has a 12 million budget, 47 million gross, 5 on IMDb.
- 11:38Rude. Yeah.
- 11:40Yeah. All right, so I don't have any
- 11:44tagline. No taglines at all.
- 11:47None whatsoever. Isn't that crazy?
- 11:49What I know I I have. So we got we got to do
- 11:53something. Oh boy, we're gonna have to do
- 11:55something about this. The world is our oyster, at
- 11:57least in this moment. That's true.
- 11:59We we got unlimited potential here.
- 12:02I wouldn't go that far. That's true, yeah.
- 12:05Have you seen the two of us today?
- 12:07Yeah, I'm a fucking. Mess Our potential is
- 12:10incredibly. I fell apart at the moment I
- 12:12tried to put the bed together last night.
- 12:14That was where like all the hell broke loose for me and I don't
- 12:17think I've ever fully recovered from that.
- 12:20It was just, it was just hard, sad.
- 12:22It was hard to watch. This is what decline looks like.
- 12:27You're witnessing it first in all, Right, So I got some fun
- 12:32facts. Yeah.
- 12:33So they came off the first movie wanting to kind of turn it into
- 12:38a lot of sequels. Like, yeah, they were wanting
- 12:41this to be several movies, and they were wanting to strike
- 12:44while the iron was hot. And a lot of the cast was on
- 12:47board with it. Woody Harrelson even, like, as
- 12:50soon as they arrived filming, he went over to them, all of the
- 12:52directors. Like, this is the first time
- 12:54I've ever really wanted to do a sequel to a movie.
- 12:57Well, it took them a while. They all got super famous and
- 13:01super busy. Well, they were already all
- 13:03pretty famous, but they got. Hooked.
- 13:06I'm. Yeah, that's actually going to
- 13:08be a part of some of this here. Just that whole process.
- 13:11But that all happened. But it also took them a while to
- 13:13get the script going. They didn't finalize the script
- 13:15until 2017. Wow.
- 13:17In the process, they actually like.
- 13:19He also wanted TV shows to be a thing, so they did a pilot show.
- 13:23I don't. Have you ever heard of that?
- 13:25Yeah, they did a pilot for Amazon.
- 13:27Really. Yep, it was basically continuing
- 13:30this. Like it wasn't like a remake or
- 13:32anything. That's Columbus, Tallahassee,
- 13:34Wichita and a Little Rock. All played by the same actors.
- 13:36All recast. Don't care about.
- 13:39That yeah, that was a big part of it right there and it did not
- 13:44do well. It just had the pilot.
- 13:46They released the pilot. You can watch that now.
- 13:48I think it is on Amazon. But yeah, it just, from what
- 13:53I've heard, it's not good and the writers are kind of bitter
- 13:57about it. That's.
- 13:59Weird. Actually, yeah.
- 14:01So part of the issues with getting the movie going was
- 14:05whenever they had the script together, they're like, OK, now
- 14:09we got to make it make sense financially for the company.
- 14:12So the original Zombieland had a budget, a little over $20
- 14:15million. This was in 2009.
- 14:18Well, here in 2019 or around 2018 when they started filming,
- 14:22a lot of these guys got pretty fucking big.
- 14:25Woody Harrelson was already pretty big at the time.
- 14:28Jesse Eisenberg, he was, he's kind of been about the same
- 14:31since they're, you know, Zombieland was he had Social
- 14:35Network kind of escalated or like elevated him a little bit
- 14:38higher. I'd I'd say Social Network was
- 14:41probably his most mainstream movie.
- 14:43Yeah, that was his biggest for sure.
- 14:45And ever since then he's been kind of typecast as that guy.
- 14:49So he was kind of that guy here anyways.
- 14:53But yeah, So like, I think the biggest success story here is
- 14:57Emma Stone, who has went on to, like, win awards since then.
- 15:01Multiple awards. She's been you.
- 15:03You can't turn around without seeing a poster with her name on
- 15:06it. Yeah.
- 15:07And so. And Abigail Breslin, like, I
- 15:09mean, she has continued to work steadily, which is remarkable
- 15:14for somebody who is a child actor.
- 15:16Yeah, she's in Stream Queens, which we like.
- 15:18Love it. Yeah.
- 15:19And yeah, she, she didn't really have like, the huge movie career
- 15:22like these other people had, but you know.
- 15:23She has a steady career. Yeah, she's got a steady career
- 15:26going for, but they had to make this inflated budget for them
- 15:31make sense for them financially to do it.
- 15:33So they had to convince everybody.
- 15:35And that's why we have doubled the budget of the original 1
- 15:37like in the 40,000,000 here, because these people are just
- 15:40more expensive now. But they made it work.
- 15:43They did it. So they made the movie Go.
- 15:45I don't really have much more here.
- 15:46So I will say Albuquerque and Flagstaff were the original
- 15:51names of Columbus and Tallahassee.
- 15:54Oh, OK. Which is why the counterparts of
- 15:56them in this movie are named that.
- 15:58And Speaking of the counterparts, here we have Luke
- 16:01Wilson, who plays Albuquerque and.
- 16:04No, Yeah, Albuquerque. So he was not the first choice.
- 16:08The person they were originally wanting to play, that was Ryan
- 16:12Gosling. No, no, not Ryan Gosling.
- 16:15Ryan Reynolds. I'm thinking of Ryan Gosling
- 16:17because we talked about. Yeah, we talked about zombies.
- 16:20Ryan Reynolds was going to be the original choice to be
- 16:22Albuquerque, but he could not do it due to conflicts.
- 16:25I'm glad it ended up being Luke. Wilson I am too.
- 16:27I think he's a better. Fit, I think.
- 16:28Yeah, I think he's the correct choice.
- 16:30I'm just going to say it. Luke could do Wedding Crashers.
- 16:34Owen couldn't do Zombie Land. He.
- 16:35Could not, No, this is not as like an Owen Wilson movie right
- 16:39here. And another alternate casting
- 16:42here, the first pick for Flagstaff.
- 16:45Can you take a guess who that was going to be?
- 16:49I have a picture of his face but I can't remember his name.
- 16:52OK, Michael Cera. Yep, Yep.
- 16:56Michael Cera just turned it down.
- 16:58I think Michael Cera doesn't want to be associated as like
- 17:01the mirror image of Jesse Isenberg.
- 17:02Probably fair because he I think the moment he says yes to that
- 17:05role right there the is when he accepts it and it gets cemented.
- 17:09Very conscientious about his image and typecasting.
- 17:12We talked about that a few years ago when we talked about this as
- 17:15the end because he did not want to play himself, he wanted to
- 17:17play the opposite of himself. Exactly.
- 17:19Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:19So you know, yeah. I mean, I think it would have
- 17:22been good casting, but I think Thomas Middlebish is a good.
- 17:26I'm never going to be mad about seeing Thomas Middleditch in a
- 17:28movie. Yeah, he's funny.
- 17:29He's funny in this too. I like it.
- 17:31Watching this made me want to watch Final Girls.
- 17:34I've been wanting to watch final girls all week.
- 17:35I don't know why we haven't just watched Final Girls.
- 17:37All right, we're watching it today then, I guess.
- 17:40After we watch Bone Temple. Oh yeah, OK, we got to do that.
- 17:42We watched 28 Years Later last night.
- 17:44Finally, life. Life precluded that from
- 17:49happening for a while. I'm really, I'm going to talk
- 17:51about that on the show here soon.
- 17:52I'm just going to say alphas are fucking scary.
- 17:55They are like Titans from Attack on Titan.
- 17:57I have a problem with perspective because when Travis
- 18:02said that guy's huge and I was like, how can you tell they are
- 18:05in the distance it was in? It was like silhouettes and they
- 18:08both walked over the same horizon.
- 18:10I just. Assumed that he was farther
- 18:12ahead. Really fucking good movie.
- 18:16I know it's kind of a polarizing one of the people, but I love
- 18:18that movie. I thought it was really good.
- 18:20I'm really, really excited to go into Bone Temple.
- 18:23Yeah, me too. That was it for fun facts.
- 18:25Okay, so let's get into our good, bad, ugly and absurd then.
- 18:30Okay, so I like that. Should we have evolved to the
- 18:35zombie some that makes sense. That was cool.
- 18:37Yeah. I like that they have like, new
- 18:39additions. Yeah.
- 18:39And. I think it's really interesting
- 18:41because we had a lot of zombie talk going on both on the show,
- 18:44you know, and as we just discussed, watching 28 Years
- 18:46Later last night. So seeing the way these
- 18:49different movies handled the evolution of zombies, I think
- 18:53it's kind of fun. This.
- 18:55I like that they name them after pop culture, like icons.
- 18:59I like that we see a little bit of differences in how different
- 19:01areas refer to them. Yeah.
- 19:04You know what with the T8 hundreds being called bolts at
- 19:07West. Yeah, that's another thing in 28
- 19:10years later too. Yeah, they have the alphas or
- 19:13the Berserks. Yeah, exactly.
- 19:15Yeah, I think that's fun. I think it's I like that they
- 19:18turned turned the phrase to Murray somebody or I almost
- 19:24Murrayed you and they drew there's.
- 19:26Oh, well, that's just sad. That's probably an urban legend.
- 19:29There was, I wanted to do a theme so bad for movies that
- 19:33came out this year, like movies that wouldn't have been possible
- 19:35thanks to Jesse Eisenberg killing him.
- 19:38Because in this year Dead Don't Die came out also, but I mean,
- 19:44you're not going to get 3 like two other Bill Murray movies,
- 19:46so. Yeah.
- 19:48So I think that that's a lot of fun.
- 19:50I like that we go to like a commune because I think so many
- 19:55times in these movies, like think about the end of 28 Days
- 19:59later when they wind up at the military compound and it's bad.
- 20:04I like that this one is good, stupid from like, you know, a
- 20:09self preservation standpoint. But I get it, Like, and
- 20:14generally speaking, like, what do you do 'cause if you start
- 20:17having those guns in reserve, like, is there going to be one
- 20:20person that will get a little bit too power hungry?
- 20:22You know, like, you have to ask yourself these questions as
- 20:24you're rebuilding in the face of an apocalypse.
- 20:27Anyway, I'm just glad we get to see that side of it, yeah.
- 20:30It's a different side. Yeah, yeah, I get them.
- 20:32I like that we are still seeing their relationships like them
- 20:36dealing with kind of those ruts in life and I hate to say rut
- 20:40because it sounds negative but like.
- 20:42That's what they call it themselves.
- 20:43Yeah, but like because like everybody hits that at some
- 20:47point where you realize like you've kind of just formed a
- 20:50routine and it's very comfortable and you're not
- 20:52feeling. It's not even necessarily
- 20:55excitement, it's more just like challenge, like you need to have
- 20:57something different to keep your brain and your soul and
- 21:03everything alert and activated. Yeah, I gotcha.
- 21:06And I think it makes sense that we do that here.
- 21:08And then I like the introduction of the two new characters cuz
- 21:13we've got Madison. I like.
- 21:15Madison, I thought she was a lot of fun and her just having an
- 21:18allergic reaction. I couldn't remember if like I
- 21:21just remembered that because whenever I was watching this I
- 21:24saw her eat the nut and then she was talking about her tongue
- 21:26getting swollen. I'm like, that sounds like an
- 21:27allergic reaction to me. Yeah, I, well, I remembered that
- 21:30being the situation. I couldn't remember how she came
- 21:33back to them, but I remembered that it was an allergic reaction
- 21:36and he didn't actually shoot her.
- 21:37I also like that Berkeley is so full of himself and he really
- 21:40thinks that he's got Little Rock, like, wrapped around his
- 21:45finger. And I like that she kind of
- 21:48snaps out of it. She does.
- 21:50It's interesting that even in this, like, zombie apocalypse
- 21:52that she is still falling for, like, the same kind of bullshit
- 21:57of, like, I'm gonna act stupid. I mean, this guy that I like,
- 21:59think that I like, you know, he wants to hang out with me.
- 22:03The thing is, I mean I she was part of normal society
- 22:07beforehand too so like this is all ingrained in her growing up
- 22:10still. That's true, that's fair.
- 22:12I just, I feel like cuz she was so young when it happened, I was
- 22:14hoping that like maybe she hadn't been socially
- 22:17conditioned, but that does start as such a young fucking yeah
- 22:20girl especially she was. Like 12 in the first movie.
- 22:22Yeah, yeah. She would have been, yeah.
- 22:25So. Yeah, OK.
- 22:27And I like that we see their Family Foundation to things and
- 22:32still some of those normal life things happening.
- 22:35So I liked it as a follow up. I think it was a lot of fun and
- 22:38I still had some good funny moments.
- 22:39So I agree it was good, yeah. Yeah, I like this.
- 22:43I agree with what you said there.
- 22:45I like that it doesn't just like retread a lot.
- 22:48I mean, of course it retreads a little bit.
- 22:50We have a lot of similar story beats here.
- 22:52I love Wichita getting the note left for her and they just keep
- 22:56throwing it back at her. They're like, yeah, it doesn't
- 22:58feel good, does it? Yeah, I like that too.
- 23:01We also, I mean, it's basically the same as the first movie
- 23:03where they go to the supposed safe haven.
- 23:06Like they go to the amusement park in the first one where they
- 23:09think it's supposed to be safe, and now they go to Berkeley or
- 23:12not Berkeley Babylon, which is supposed to be the safe haven
- 23:16here. And that's where shit goes down
- 23:18again, you know, but the story, it's not just like retelling the
- 23:24same jokes over and over and over again.
- 23:26Like it's, it's having fun with, like it's continuing it on.
- 23:29Yeah. And I really like the whole
- 23:31bringing in the duplicate versions of each other thing
- 23:34here cuz that was just a fun thing.
- 23:36That was a fun thing I liked. I liked what's his new Flagstaff
- 23:40having the commandments. I like seeing the commandments
- 23:43versus the rules and it's just like you just have that scene of
- 23:47them going like going back and forth and then it's just like
- 23:49the above them, the text just keeps like battling it out or
- 23:52something up the top. Yeah, and they keep arguing
- 23:54about where their different rules and commitments place,
- 23:57which ones they think are more important.
- 23:59Yeah. I also like the Flagstaff and
- 24:03Albuquerque kind of have, like, the romanticized version of the
- 24:07relationship that Columbus and Tallahassee have because they're
- 24:11just like, complementing each other back and forth and like,
- 24:13they've like fully embraced the broness of it.
- 24:16Yeah. And the other two have like,
- 24:18it's like a juxtaposition. They're not quite at that
- 24:22embrace. It's what Columbus, I think,
- 24:25wants for them both, but I don't think that's what Tallahassee
- 24:28envisions for them. Tallahassee is still it still
- 24:33kind of has that one foot out the door.
- 24:35Like that trauma response. Yeah, kind of like can't get too
- 24:39attached. I'm a little bit bummed we
- 24:41didn't get alternate versions of the other two.
- 24:43Characters I know. I thought for sure that would
- 24:46happen, but. Yeah, you would think, but Oh
- 24:49well, Yeah, it would have been funny if the other one, the
- 24:52opposite of Abigail wrestling, was Emma Roberts.
- 24:55You know, I got another Chanel. I my brain was still stuck on
- 24:59MSMS stone. Oh yeah, Two Ms. Yeah, two Ms.
- 25:02movie, I guess. Never mind.
- 25:03Forget it. OK, OK, so bad stuff.
- 25:10All right, I said I can never be mad at a movie for putting
- 25:12Thomas Middleditch in it. And I'm going to kind of
- 25:15contradict myself a little bit because how are you going to put
- 25:18Thomas Middleditch in it for 5 or 10 minutes and then kill him?
- 25:22Off that was my bad too. I wish that they hung around
- 25:25longer. I I think like, I don't think
- 25:28it. I would have gladly, I would
- 25:31have gladly traded the extra screen time we got with Madison.
- 25:35For them, yeah, I it's the same for me, yeah.
- 25:38I, I wanted more of that back and forth between the two of
- 25:41them there, you know, like, I feel like you could have used
- 25:43that as like a weights for like character growth too.
- 25:46Like you could see like the others, like witnessing and
- 25:49having a realization that that's like them.
- 25:51Yes. And then kind of like playing
- 25:53off on each other and, you know, like there's all kinds of
- 25:57potential there with that. And I, I don't think that they
- 25:59explored it enough. I think they saw it as just like
- 26:02a gag and like they're done with it.
- 26:04Yeah, no, it could have been a really good storytelling device.
- 26:06Yeah, I think so too. That was a bummer.
- 26:08That was my one and only bad that I had written down here.
- 26:11OK, ugly. So I'm a person that prefers a
- 26:20clean, organized space. And just because you've moved
- 26:26into the White House in the middle of an apocalypse doesn't
- 26:28mean that everything should be messy.
- 26:31Yeah, I think there's a little bit too much debris and whatnot
- 26:36left behind. You kind of have to embrace the
- 26:38chaos if you're going to live in that type of world, I think.
- 26:41But also it doesn't have to all be chaos.
- 26:43You can have like. I don't like the concept of
- 26:46cleanliness just being a social contract.
- 26:49I wish it was something that we valued.
- 26:52Yeah, OK. Fair enough.
- 26:55I think, I think cuz for me, like, and it's honestly, it's
- 26:59not just like a hoity toity Ness, it's a mental thing for
- 27:04me. And I think it comes from like a
- 27:06history of dealing with depression and not taking care
- 27:10of myself in those moments. Like I really value keeping my
- 27:14space clean and keeping myself clean because you know, Maslow's
- 27:19hierarchy of me, it's like I gotcha.
- 27:21Yeah, yeah. So that's that's where that's
- 27:23coming from. OK, no, I understand.
- 27:26My ugly is the fucking coughing up a hairball from Bill Murray
- 27:32at the end of the. Movie.
- 27:33I couldn't listen to it. It's just like.
- 27:35I couldn't. Yeah, it is gross to listen to.
- 27:39And I also I don't understand where that fit in the timeline.
- 27:43That was the outbreak. That was the initial outbreak.
- 27:47Is that definitely what it was meant?
- 27:50To be yes yeah. I looked it up yeah yeah.
- 27:52That was supposed to be like when it all began.
- 27:54So like when he cuz he, it wasn't him being resurrected or
- 27:58anything. That was just like how it all
- 27:59started for him. OK.
- 28:01At the initial, like in 2009, there were 3 Garfield movies
- 28:05that came out in that time. Alternate universe, Yeah, I
- 28:09guess. OK, absurd.
- 28:17OK, the amount of weed that Berkeley has on him.
- 28:23Where did he get all that weed from?
- 28:25He must have ravaged a place. How?
- 28:26Much did he have before Wichita and Little Rock picked him up.
- 28:31That's true 'cause you know that dude wasn't going so brutally.
- 28:34This. Hell no, hell no, but like how
- 28:38the fuck can you live in that world high as fuck, no weapons
- 28:44and not get your fucking assy? I don't know.
- 28:48Oh also I love that they kind of like gave us a bullshit hand
- 28:52WAVY excuse for why the power was still on and they're like
- 28:55yeah no as long as it keeps raining the the Electro hydro
- 28:59stuff from the. Namster works.
- 29:01Yeah, OK. Like, I mean, I was thinking
- 29:03about it a little bit, but at the same time I'm like,
- 29:04whatever, it's just a movie. Yeah, I I don't care that much.
- 29:08It's funny when he is at one point reading The Walking Dead
- 29:11in bed and he goes wow this is really interesting but super
- 29:14unrealistic. Yeah, my absurd is just the
- 29:17whole idea of having a pacifist mindset in this world.
- 29:21I don't think it, just like I don't think you can be a
- 29:23pacifist and survive like a zombie apocalypse.
- 29:27Yeah. You have to defend yourself,
- 29:30yeah, or you're going to die. The fact that there's a whole
- 29:34community of that. And the fact that, like, OK, if
- 29:37you're going to be a pacifist, that's cool, but like, don't be
- 29:41stupid and fire off fireworks. That they're so dumb.
- 29:45And then as soon as they finish defeating the zombies, like more
- 29:48fireworks, like that's going to just draw more of a crowd.
- 29:51You didn't. Kill all the zombies, just the
- 29:53ones that were there at that time.
- 29:55Exactly. There's another Horde coming for
- 29:57sure. Yeah.
- 30:00All right. OK, time to raid it.
- 30:01What do you raid it? I think this is a solid 8.
- 30:06OK. Yeah, I'm thinking about 7 1/2.
- 30:10I like this movie. It was a fun time.
- 30:11It was a good sequel. Good follow up. 7.75 starting
- 30:14average. All right, That's pretty good.
- 30:17All right, we start off learning about how zombies have evolved
- 30:20in these intervening years. Yeah, there's different.
- 30:22Types. Yeah, we've got the Homers,
- 30:24which are the dummies. You don't really have to worry
- 30:26about them. We got the Hawkings, which are
- 30:30smart. They're the ones you got to
- 30:32really pay attention to. And you got the ninjas, which
- 30:35are silent in Deadly, yes. So I think that's good.
- 30:39It's good to have a good communication system like this.
- 30:42We see how it works out for them later when they're fighting.
- 30:45Yeah, yeah. I mean, like, it's nice to
- 30:46recognize your enemy enemy and be able to call them out.
- 30:50So we see them, they're pulling up at the White House.
- 30:53They're looking for a place to settle down for a while.
- 30:55I appreciate that they still did another Metallica opening.
- 30:59Yeah, credit sequence. Which song was it this time?
- 31:01Master of Puppets. That's right.
- 31:02Yeah, Yeah, yeah. So it's a montage of them just
- 31:06mowing down some zombies in front of the White House there.
- 31:09Yeah. And then they enter and they set
- 31:11up shop. They have a debate of who is
- 31:13going to be president. Yeah, there's a good arguments
- 31:16for and against everybody in that group.
- 31:18Yeah, so and then we get this montage of them enjoying the
- 31:22little things, having fun living in the White House for a little
- 31:25while. Wichita and Columbus have their
- 31:27own little domesticity kind of situation.
- 31:31The Lincoln Room I agree with. Wichita keep his.
- 31:35Eyes covered, honest Abe's got them wondering eyes.
- 31:38Yeah. Yeah, so that's a little creepy.
- 31:42Yeah, he abolished slavery, but that doesn't mean I want him to
- 31:46watch us do it. Yeah, exactly.
- 31:48Like both things can be true. That was so reasonable.
- 31:52Yeah. So with that going on, Little
- 31:54Rock is kind of she's wanting out.
- 31:57She's wanting to explore the world, other people.
- 31:59She's wanting a boyfriend. Like, and I feel so bad for her.
- 32:03And we were talking about that. We talked about that we were
- 32:05watching 28 years later also because it's just like you've
- 32:08got kids that grew up in this and they like they're still
- 32:12always going to be that like biological her to go out and
- 32:18explore, understand the world, be able to defend yourself, be
- 32:21able to find a mate, you know, find people your own age.
- 32:25You need a peer group cohorts. Yeah, exactly.
- 32:27And like when you're that age and you're around your family,
- 32:30you want other people for a little bit you.
- 32:33Know, yeah. And that doesn't mean that you
- 32:35love your family any less. It just means that, you know,
- 32:37sometimes you need a fucking break.
- 32:39Yeah, exactly. You need your own people.
- 32:41Yeah. So it's Christmas time in
- 32:43November. Yeah.
- 32:46Tallahassee is dressed up as Santa Claus, asking everybody
- 32:48what they want for Christmas. Yeah, and you can definitely
- 32:52tell he sees Little Rock as a daughter.
- 32:53Yeah, exactly. For sure we saw that
- 32:55relationship starting in the first one and I'm glad that
- 32:58it's. He's a good dad, you know, Like,
- 33:00it's really sweet of him to like, take on that.
- 33:02And it's really easy to forget that he lost his very young son.
- 33:08Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 33:09So this is a very important to him.
- 33:11Yeah, they're exchanging gifts. I like Wichita gifted Columbus a
- 33:16book, a first edition book, a Fellowship of the Rings.
- 33:19And you wrote in it. She's like so many words like
- 33:24oh, and you just kept going. You just kept going and the dust
- 33:29jackets torn too. It's just so funny.
- 33:35See, like Jesse Eisenberg, he, he's just good at this type of
- 33:38character, you know? Yeah, I'm glad he knows what his
- 33:42character. He understands the assignment.
- 33:43He gets it. Yeah.
- 33:46And Tallahassee gifts Little Rock Colt 45.
- 33:51Belonged to Elvis. Belonged to Elvis and she was
- 33:54like cool another gun. Yeah, so she kind of just storms
- 33:59off. Wichita that night, she's
- 34:01worried about her, you know, because of all the things that
- 34:03we were just talking about. You know, she wants somebody her
- 34:06own age. She wants to grow up, spread her
- 34:07wings a little bit. Columbus is like, well, I've
- 34:11been thinking about how you said we don't take any risks or any
- 34:14chances. And he proposes with the hooked
- 34:15diamonds, and she doesn't have to answer right away.
- 34:17It's the most lackadaisical proposal ever.
- 34:19He's like, here's a ring. Maybe you can think about it.
- 34:22We'll talk about this later. This is so great.
- 34:25This is going to be amazing. Doesn't seem like a Columbus
- 34:30proposal. You know what would have seemed
- 34:32like a Columbus proposal? Do it as the Christmas gift down
- 34:36there in front of everybody. Yeah, put her on the spot.
- 34:39Make it even worse when she's like, I've told you multiple
- 34:42times that I'm not really into the whole marriage thing.
- 34:45She's like, everybody gets divorced.
- 34:46She goes, well, divorce is just kind of a legal construct.
- 34:48So I don't know if, you know, if we could do that here.
- 34:49And I want to be like, couldn't you say the same for marriage?
- 34:53Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 34:54Marriage. So wake up next morning, Qam's
- 34:59feeling great. He's just assuming he's going to
- 35:02get that yes. If you didn't get the yes right
- 35:04away, you're not getting the yes Duddy.
- 35:07Dude it's not good with social clues.
- 35:10No, This is why he thrives in zombie land.
- 35:14Exactly. Yeah, this is his people where
- 35:16you just don't talk to people. Yeah, or you got Tallahassee,
- 35:19who tells you every word on his mind.
- 35:21You don't wonder where you stand with him.
- 35:23Exactly. Well, Tallahassee found a note
- 35:26that morning, and Wichita and Little Rock are gone again.
- 35:30Bad at notes. Sorry.
- 35:32Yeah. Bye.
- 35:33And she left the Hope Diamond bind.
- 35:35That's what he proposed with, was the Hope Diamond.
- 35:37So Wichita and Little Rock, they're driving and they find
- 35:40another teen slash, young adults from Berkeley.
- 35:45We'll learn more about him in a little bit.
- 35:46Yeah, they pick him up. Columbus and Tallahassee have
- 35:49gone to the mall. They're just kind of coping with
- 35:51the loss. Want to blow off some steam?
- 35:54I would love rummaging in a dead mall.
- 35:58Yeah, I think that would be a lot of fun too.
- 36:00Fun time. Yeah, they're they're on.
- 36:03What? What the fuck are these things
- 36:04called again? Segways.
- 36:07Segways, Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're on Segways just like
- 36:10like rolling around the mall there.
- 36:11And Tallahassee says you have one more day to mope.
- 36:15It's been a month. We need to hit the road.
- 36:19Wichita and Little Rock are not coming deck.
- 36:22And this is him not wanting to admit how sad he is about a
- 36:25Little Rock. Exactly.
- 36:26Yeah, And then he starts to open up about being part Blackfoot.
- 36:31Yeah, he's yeah. It's hard to say if this is real
- 36:35or not. I don't think it is.
- 36:38No, So Columbus goes to a candle store, she says.
- 36:40I can't emphasize how bad 'cause I'll be laying smells.
- 36:44I can imagine. I'm sure it's terrible and I
- 36:48feel like probably going into a Yankee Candle isn't going to fix
- 36:54the problem. Likely not, but it kind of does
- 36:57temporarily here because he finds somebody there.
- 37:00He finds Madison, yes. Not a zombie.
- 37:02She's been hiding in the freezer at the Pink Berry because the
- 37:06zombies can't get in. But it's really cold.
- 37:09And I said, did you think about unplugging it?
- 37:11And she said she couldn't find the cord.
- 37:13So they invite her, invite her, or Columbus invites her.
- 37:18Tallahassee is kind of against it, doesn't know what the extra
- 37:20company. Yeah, And he says something
- 37:23about like, hey, it's got a whole thing for rules.
- 37:25And she's like, I wanna hear them all.
- 37:28So he's just going on and on and on.
- 37:29By the time they get back to the White House and she asks for a
- 37:33tour and Tallahassee is just, he is so fucking annoying.
- 37:37He still wants to hit the road in the morning.
- 37:38He's like, I'm going. Madison didn't actually want a
- 37:42tour. Yep, she just wanted to have
- 37:45some intimacy. Yes, you guys, it's been forever
- 37:47at Zombieland. You don't get this all that
- 37:49often, so get it when you can. So I there was a a moment
- 37:55because they hear something. Tallahassee and Columbus got a
- 37:57check out at the sand. Tallahassee knows all the rule
- 37:59numbers. I thought that was interesting
- 38:02that he's got those memorized. Well, I would imagine you if I
- 38:04hearing them so many times, you'd probably have a kind of
- 38:07ingrained. I also feel like there's an
- 38:08element of him like that's that's his little buddy.
- 38:12I guess, you know, yeah, I guess that's true.
- 38:14Yeah, it's one of those things like he won't say it directly,
- 38:18but. Yeah, so Wichita is what the
- 38:21sound is. She's in the other room there
- 38:23and she's there to grab weapons. Yes, and she tells him that
- 38:28Little Rock is gone. Said it happened after they
- 38:32picked up Berkeley. He's a musician and a pacifist,
- 38:34and Tallahassee is a guest. That Little Rock.
- 38:37Would get involved with somebody like this.
- 38:40Just the idea that this person is from Berkeley is enough to
- 38:43drive him mad. And I love this little moment
- 38:46that they have because Little Rock says, have you ever heard
- 38:48of Graceland? And Berkeley immediately goes
- 38:51into a spiel about being anti Elvis.
- 38:52And she goes, oh, well, I always wanted to visit.
- 38:54And he goes, but yeah, no, that would be great.
- 38:56That'd be fun. Let's see that.
- 38:58Yeah, we had an opportunity to go to Graceland but did not
- 39:01because I don't really care about Elvis.
- 39:02Yeah, and also it would have been like a lot of money to do
- 39:05the tour. Yeah, not worth it.
- 39:07Yeah, I don't care. Wichita told her no because she
- 39:10didn't think the Graceland thing was going to be a good idea.
- 39:12It was just a gut feeling. And Little Rock at Berkeley left
- 39:16a note and went and she was like, it's so messed up.
- 39:20She just left a note and Tao has seen Columbus.
- 39:22You're like, yeah, yeah, it's messed up, isn't it, Wichita?
- 39:28Also, she mentions that there's a new zombie type out there.
- 39:31Yes, what? Berkeley was telling her.
- 39:32Yeah, we don't have any more details yet, just that there's a
- 39:35new kind of zombie. She OK?
- 39:37Yeah, Wichita says that she's really not there for them.
- 39:40Like, she didn't come to see them.
- 39:41She didn't come to ask them to help.
- 39:42She's just there for more weapons and ammunition.
- 39:44And they're like, well, we're gonna we'll load up.
- 39:47We'll go. We're gonna go save her
- 39:49together. And Wichita apologizes for just
- 39:53kind of leaving the way she did. And Columbus is like, you know,
- 39:56maybe this can be a turning point for us.
- 39:58And then Madison appears and asks if Columbus is coming back
- 40:01to bed. And she's very clearly wearing
- 40:04his shirt because his shirt says Law and Mordor.
- 40:07Yeah, yeah. And Wichita?
- 40:10Not too happy about. It Here's the thing.
- 40:15In a normal life, yes, a month. A month is moving on too soon in
- 40:21Zombieland. It's harder to yeah.
- 40:24Well I would also assume like a month gone you're probably not
- 40:29seeing her. Again.
- 40:30Yeah. Like she probably truly is gone
- 40:32from your. Life like she is lucky that they
- 40:34were even still there. Yeah, exactly.
- 40:37Yeah, So like. I get where she's coming from
- 40:41and I get where he's coming from and.
- 40:44As Ross once said, they were on a break.
- 40:47I'm I'm not I'm I'm not in the right headspace to have this.
- 40:50Argument right now. It was a completely different
- 40:52thing. This is where it comes into the
- 40:55nuance of like time and respect for the relationship.
- 40:59Ross waited one day. Ross waited like 2 hours.
- 41:03That's true. Ross waited two hours.
- 41:05Columbus waited a whole month. Yeah.
- 41:07And in Zombieland. Yeah, Ross wasn't in a post
- 41:10apocalyptic situation. It was never about the
- 41:13technicality of them being broken up or not.
- 41:16Maybe he didn't technically cheat on her.
- 41:18He emotionally devastated her and that's the importance of it.
- 41:22And she even says in that episode, she's like, you're not
- 41:25going to get out of this on a technicality.
- 41:27And that's what kills me about all the people saying that they
- 41:29were on a break. Who fucking cares?
- 41:31She's saying that it hurt her and why.
- 41:35We clearly have some energy for this.
- 41:39I didn't realize I was just making a comment.
- 41:42I didn't realize I was going. To you should have known.
- 41:44You should have known. Oh, boy.
- 41:48Oh God. All right.
- 41:51Next morning, everybody's still going playing, so on.
- 41:53They're going to Graceland. They're going to go save Little
- 41:55Rock. Did we see?
- 41:56Madison, bring all of these. No, I don't think so.
- 42:00OK, she's she just rummaged around and found.
- 42:03She happened to find matching suitcases with her jumpsuit.
- 42:07Yeah. I mean, it's just the color
- 42:08pink. Yeah, I know, but I don't expect
- 42:10to see that in the White House, just that, you know, normally.
- 42:13But bro, I know I've never been to the White House, so maybe
- 42:16pink's all over that place, you know?
- 42:18It's not the Pink House. You know, it's kind of a bummer
- 42:20to think about is the way this was shot and the layout of the
- 42:23White House and the time of this movie.
- 42:26It wouldn't be the same layout no no today.
- 42:30It would not. It is a little bit sad.
- 42:33So they're going and yeah, they, they basically we're going to
- 42:37forget Madison there until she, you know, came in right before
- 42:40they're pulling up. She's got all of her luggage and
- 42:43Tallahassee offers to put it in the back because she kind of is
- 42:47like, are you going to put my bags up?
- 42:48Oh my God, thank you. And he just leaves it all
- 42:51sitting there because that's one of the rules that quietly you
- 42:53got to travel light. So they're on the road and they
- 42:58come across a bridge and they stop and I thought it was
- 43:02because we were eyeing another Twinkie car, but that's not the
- 43:05case. No, they're trying to find a new
- 43:07vehicle because Tallahassee really doesn't want to drive the
- 43:09minivan because that's all they have left after Little Rock
- 43:13stole the. Piece did we talk about this in
- 43:15the original Zombieland? Like what did they have Woody
- 43:18Harrelson eating with the Twinkie?
- 43:19Because Twinkie is not vegan. I can't remember.
- 43:24I feel like we did talk about. It, I feel like we talked about
- 43:26it. Either that or like he had a
- 43:27spit bucket or something. I don't know.
- 43:32But yeah, they're, they're trying to find a new vehicle
- 43:33because right now they're in a minivan and it that's making
- 43:37Tallahassee mad. The car, the beast that he and
- 43:40Little Rock had worked on, is what Wichita and Little Rock
- 43:42stole, and then Little Rock and Berkeley stole.
- 43:44OK, I this is a interesting Google search because I just
- 43:48grew a search. How did Woody Harrelson eat
- 43:50Twinkie? Apparently mock Twinkies were
- 43:58prepared for him. They were made from corn mill.
- 44:02Is that it? Yeah, custom vegan safe Twinkies
- 44:07were made for him. OK, I'm glad that they did that.
- 44:10I just. What do you mean?
- 44:11Is that it? That was your.
- 44:12That was the answer to your question.
- 44:14Well like was all that was in it corn meal?
- 44:16Was he basically eating cornbread?
- 44:18Is what I'm trying to ask. I guess, yeah, it's gross, yeah.
- 44:25OK, OK, you get. Subscribed to all kinds of weird
- 44:28Woody Harrelson facts because of like, oh, clearly this guy if
- 44:30he's interested in how he's twinking.
- 44:32Text messages, woody, hairless and facts daily.
- 44:35Yeah, OK. Little Rock asks Berkeley about
- 44:41smoking weed. She's like, I've always wanted.
- 44:43She was like, smoke too much weed, he goes.
- 44:45Do I look like the type of person who would have a lot of
- 44:47weed on him? Because I am.
- 44:50Yeah, he's like, come on, look at me.
- 44:51Yeah, yeah. So yeah, they're looking the our
- 44:55main group is looking for a new ride and they see an RV.
- 45:00It's near a clown ice cream truck, which in case you'd
- 45:03forgotten, Columbus very afraid of clowns.
- 45:06So they go down there. Madison is all ready for this
- 45:10because she partied with three doors down and an RV one time.
- 45:14That sounds like a good time. I guess I don't know.
- 45:16I don't know those guys. I couldn't tell you too much.
- 45:21Subscribing for facts for them too, I guess.
- 45:22Let me get to know them. So they they're gonna check out
- 45:28the RV, but Madison opens the door and starts the car alarm,
- 45:31which causes this warm as zombies to come towards them.
- 45:34And she's just kind of standing in the way while Wichita,
- 45:37Columbus in Tallahassee, they are like a well oiled machine.
- 45:40I was reading this came from like the original script of the
- 45:44ending of the first movie where this played out in the first,
- 45:48like with Tallahassee and Columbus where one of them got
- 45:52on top of the building and we're calling out like 66 o'clock
- 45:55whatever, you know the time. That's the smart way to do it.
- 45:58Yeah, it is. Yeah.
- 45:59At one point, Wichita's gun jams and Madison uses Mace on the
- 46:03zombie to save her. Yeah, because they were all
- 46:06laughing. Because she's she is kind of a
- 46:10pacifist in her own way. She's a vegan.
- 46:13Yeah, She just said she doesn't really want a gun.
- 46:15She doesn't know how to shoot guns, but she's got Mace for
- 46:17protection. And they all kind of laughed at
- 46:18her, but it worked. Yeah, she's survived this long
- 46:20because clearly she's doing something.
- 46:22Yeah, she comes across as stupid, but I think she's, like,
- 46:25ditzy. Yeah, but I think she's got some
- 46:28smarts there. She just, you know, she likes
- 46:31pink and she's a little like. She's fun.
- 46:33Yeah, she mixes up her words sometimes.
- 46:35Yeah, Norsty, I like how she says that a lot.
- 46:38Yeah, or like soy cute. Yeah, so they encounter a new
- 46:44zombie for the first time. Here.
- 46:46It's a zombie that just refuses to die.
- 46:48Also really good at dodging bullets.
- 46:50Yep, they call it the T800. It is a mutated strain and it is
- 46:54harder to kill. Berkeley in the car with Little
- 46:59Rock plays Rolling Stone, and he even has the audacity to sing it
- 47:03in a Bob Dylan S voice. And Little Rock is like, wow,
- 47:10did you write that yourself? And he's like, yeah.
- 47:14And she was like, well, you got to remember that.
- 47:16I like it was 12 when the zombie apocalypse happened and that
- 47:20just made me sad thinking about it cuz I was like she really was
- 47:22so young. It's terrible to think about.
- 47:24It Yeah. And he's like, here, I got
- 47:26another one for you. You're gonna love this.
- 47:27He starts playing free. She's high, man.
- 47:34It's good music. She doesn't care.
- 47:38Getting high and listening to music, definitely the right
- 47:41thing to do. Yeah, he's.
- 47:42Fun. He's got a competent skill on
- 47:44the guitar and singing. Yeah, he's good.
- 47:47Yeah, He just didn't write this shit.
- 47:49Yeah, I like this part. Madison was like, she's just
- 47:52sharing her dreams. She's like, you know what I
- 47:54would have liked to have done? Like this app.
- 47:56Hold on, this doesn't happen yet.
- 47:58No, it hasn't, no. Because they start to drive out
- 48:01in the RV and immediately blow a tire.
- 48:04Tallahassee wants to take the clown truck because he doesn't
- 48:07want to get back in the minivan. And Columbus is like no,
- 48:09absolutely not that's a non starter.
- 48:11This is like my one big thing the.
- 48:14Clown is on top of it. You won't see it.
- 48:16Do you really think there won't be clown iconography inside of
- 48:18that van? No, probably.
- 48:20Yeah, you're right. It's an ice cream truck, Travis.
- 48:22You're right, you're right. OK.
- 48:25So yeah, back in the minivan. Back in the minivan.
- 48:27I like how every time he gets in the minivan he just like knocks
- 48:29something off of it. Like he like knocks a mirror off
- 48:32every single. Time.
- 48:33By the time the end of this movie it comes around, it looks
- 48:35like my old Saturn did. Dude it.
- 48:38Is a movie he. Throws this fucking grenade in
- 48:40there. Yeah, I just have missing pieces
- 48:42all over that thing by the time it was done.
- 48:46So now it's when she tells of her dream.
- 48:49She's like, I had this idea that, like, you could call
- 48:54somebody and they could drive you in their car to where you
- 48:58want to go. And, like, maybe they could
- 49:00have, like, little treats or something.
- 49:01And they're all laughing. They're like, oh, yeah.
- 49:03That's what our moms told us to get into a car with strangers,
- 49:06especially if they offer us candy.
- 49:08And she goes, no, but like, to avoid like, you know, a murder
- 49:11situation. You can, like, rate them like,
- 49:14one star. This guy tried to murder me.
- 49:17It's like I there, there's the good, the brains right there.
- 49:23Like that's like a good idea, you know, like, yeah, yeah, of
- 49:25course hearing that shit at that time definitely does not sound
- 49:29like. I would have never thought that
- 49:30that would have taken off. First time we heard of Uber and
- 49:33Lych, we wanted nothing to do with it.
- 49:34The only reason we ever tried it is because it was going to take
- 49:38an hour and a half for a taxi to come pick us up at the bar.
- 49:41And so I was feeling really sick.
- 49:45So you're like, well, let's just try this and see how it goes.
- 49:48We've got a group big enough with us.
- 49:50They can't murder all four of us.
- 49:51And. Just like she said, I feel like
- 49:54there are flaws with the taxi business model and that was one
- 49:58of them. Took way too long for us to get
- 50:00home that. Day.
- 50:00Yep. So.
- 50:03Yeah, she starts acting sick. 'Cause they're eating trail.
- 50:06Mix they're eating trail mix in the back and she starts acting
- 50:09sick and as you noted, she's saying like her tongue is
- 50:12swollen. And I remember even the first
- 50:13time watching this feeling like, well, her tongue swollen.
- 50:15It sounds like she's having an allergic reaction.
- 50:18They get they stop the van, she gets out and she's throwing up
- 50:20and they're arguing about who has to shoot her and yellers my
- 50:25dog paw. I'll take care of her.
- 50:27Yeah, so Columbus goes out there, takes her to the woods,
- 50:32and then you just hear two shots in the distance.
- 50:34You think he's done it and he just comes back.
- 50:37They drive to Graceland. They get there.
- 50:40The building's destroyed. There's no beast, no sign of
- 50:45Little Rock. Yep.
- 50:46So you just drive down the road just a little bit, come across a
- 50:49motel. It's the Hound Dog Hotel, Yep,
- 50:51which is also kind of like a museum for Elvis, and it looks
- 50:55like kitschy fun. It does.
- 50:57Yeah, like big neon lights. It does look like a fun time.
- 51:01Also, the beast is outside, so a Little Rock must be there too.
- 51:04Yeah, so they go in there. They're looking around the blue
- 51:10suede shoes, too tiny for Tallahassee.
- 51:13You guess who they fit? Columbus.
- 51:15Perfect fit, feels like Cinderella.
- 51:18We find Nevada. She lives there and they say
- 51:21where in Nevada and she goes, Nevada's as close as you're
- 51:24getting. Wasn't wasn't even fucking
- 51:26matter anymore, you know, like where you got to go to or where
- 51:28she lived. And I also just assumed that it
- 51:31was Tallahassee's thing, was just saying where you're from,
- 51:34but apparently this. This taking on.
- 51:37Everywhere. Yeah.
- 51:38Yeah. And she was like, you guys look
- 51:40terrible. I always Murrayed you.
- 51:42And they're like, do you mean murder?
- 51:43And she goes, no, Murray. Like, that's what happened to
- 51:46Bill Murray because somebody thought he was a zombie and they
- 51:48killed him. If I ever found out who killed
- 51:51Bill Murray. And they're like, wow, that's
- 51:54probably just an urban legend. That's crazy that like, yeah.
- 51:58Word travelled. Yeah, like that right there.
- 52:02But she said that Little Rock and Berkeley were there, but
- 52:05they left days ago. They left the beast behind.
- 52:07So that was to establishment. Yeah, and they were headed a
- 52:13place. We don't get the name of it yet,
- 52:15but Berkeley had mentioned it so many times and she was so sick
- 52:18of it. Cut to them in the car.
- 52:20They're headed to Babylon. It is.
- 52:22A younger generation has built a peaceful commune, so that's what
- 52:26they're going to do. Tallahassee and Nevada talk
- 52:29about Elvis. They seem like a very good
- 52:31match. You can feel the chemistry
- 52:32between them. Yeah.
- 52:34Little Berkeley and Little Rocker heading to the state, OK.
- 52:38Yeah, they get to Babylon. Yeah, they get there and no guns
- 52:41allow. No guns allow to turn.
- 52:42The guns in. They're going to be melted and
- 52:44turned into peace sign medallions.
- 52:45And like I said, this is kind of one of those things because you
- 52:51need something to protect you in this world.
- 52:54Like it doesn't make sense to get rid of all of your weapons.
- 52:57However, when you have a community like this and you
- 53:03develop any kind of a power structure and some of those
- 53:05people with more power have access to weaponry, you start
- 53:09creating situations where there's the aspect for
- 53:13exploitation and danger and whatnot.
- 53:16So there's not really like. There's not a perfect way to
- 53:20handle this whole. Thing I think somewhere in
- 53:23between that is we're going to have to come back to it again 28
- 53:26years later where they've all got their limited resources and
- 53:29just kind of like hey everybody we're agreeing to be fucking
- 53:32cool right they. Just went back to bow and arrows
- 53:34then. Yeah, well, and you have to make
- 53:36your own arrows. Yeah, sharpen them sticks or get
- 53:40really good at collecting them. Just not if you shot them at A
- 53:43at a zombie. Yeah, so it's the next day and
- 53:47we got some new people pulling up at the hotel there and a big
- 53:50old monster truck. Run right over the truck.
- 53:54You don't know that you don't like this person yet.
- 53:55I. Know yeah, it's a power move.
- 53:58Yeah, it's Albuquerque and Flagstaff.
- 54:02And it's just so funny watching them interact because
- 54:05Tallahassee and Albuquerque immediately pissing contest
- 54:08Flagstaff and Columbus are going back and forth talking about
- 54:11their commandments and rules. I like how Wichita the entire
- 54:15time I was like, how do you guys not see that this is like mirror
- 54:20situations? I like it's like in a little
- 54:23bit, but whenever both Flagstaff and Columbus like correct her
- 54:26about the 2 to 8000, she's like, oh great, there's two of you
- 54:28now. Oh, she makes a joke because
- 54:31they said they've been in the West.
- 54:33They've been calling the T8 hundreds bolts like Usain bolts
- 54:38and she makes a joke. She's like, that makes the one
- 54:41that we saw sound like AT700. And they're like, well, the T800
- 54:45is actually the first. Model.
- 54:46Yeah, the T700 never existed. That's right.
- 54:54But yeah, they're coming east because the food source out West
- 54:57is getting dry, which makes me curious, you know, if they ever
- 55:01have the ability to do a third zombie land, are they going to
- 55:05go out West? And we're going to see.
- 55:07That would be interesting. They want to do a third one.
- 55:08Yeah, we're hoping it turns out to be around 2029, so let's see
- 55:13in a couple years. Just do one every 10 years.
- 55:15Yeah, yeah. Every 10 years.
- 55:19So yeah, they're they're having that pissing contest.
- 55:22I like this whole thing of the commandments versus the rules
- 55:25here, which is where we see that showdown go on here.
- 55:28I like Tallahassee or Albuquerque is like he's talking
- 55:32of Flagstaff so much and about how great his commandments are
- 55:35and how they're better than like stupid rules and stuff.
- 55:37And so Tallahassee goes, so he's like your little sidekick.
- 55:41He goes, I think of him as partner, and then they hear
- 55:44sounds and some of the T8 hundreds or bolts or whatever
- 55:48you want to call them have followed and everybody's like,
- 55:51all right, let's get up. You're up to go outside and
- 55:53you're like, no, no, we brought them here.
- 55:55This is our mess to clean up. So they go out, fight them
- 55:57together. We don't really see a whole lot
- 55:58of that. Yeah.
- 55:59They come back in. They're having a good time.
- 56:01Albuquerque is letting Flagstaff wear his hat.
- 56:04You can tell that Columbus is very jealous.
- 56:07Oh my God, you gotta wear that. She's like, that's so cool.
- 56:12Yeah. And they're just kind of like,
- 56:14you know, puffing each other up there.
- 56:16And then all of a sudden, somebody notices Albuquerque's
- 56:19wrist. He's like, hey, what is that
- 56:20right there? You got a bite?
- 56:21He's like, that's not a bite. That's a tattoo I got.
- 56:24They're like, you got a tattoo of a zombie bite.
- 56:28Anyway, Flagstaff got bit twice. Yeah, Albuquerque starts
- 56:33throwing up, starts vomiting. Asks us.
- 56:35Flagstaff. We get this really cool tracking
- 56:38shot throughout. Yeah, it was a one shot sequence
- 56:40that was really well done. I was reading that they they
- 56:43wanted them to turn in the zombies like right in front of
- 56:46you there and have it all be like laid out right there.
- 56:48And the way that they shot that, that was really well done.
- 56:51Yeah. So they they kill them.
- 56:54Yeah, Yep, Yep. That's, that's what happens.
- 56:57And then they're gonna, they're gonna go.
- 57:00Wichita admits that she was coming back to find them, so
- 57:05that's kind of a nice moment. Tallahassee can't drive the
- 57:08monster truck. Yeah, and that's surprising to
- 57:10me. And he, it's surprising to him.
- 57:12I think he thought it would be no big deal.
- 57:14He not only wrecks the monster truck, he also finishes off the
- 57:18beast so they have none of the new vehicles to go for and they
- 57:22have to use the minivan again. Yep.
- 57:24And then he just takes his frustration out on another part
- 57:27of it. So as they're driving to
- 57:30Babylon, the clown truck appears beside them with Madison driving
- 57:34it, and we find out that she was having an allergic reaction.
- 57:39He had shot over her head to try and scare her, scare her away,
- 57:43and she was like trying to tell him that she was having an
- 57:45allergic reaction but like her mouth was too swollen.
- 57:48How did she even survive that? Like that's supposed to be
- 57:51fatal, right? Well, so an EpiPen like does a
- 57:56pump of adrenaline to the heart. So maybe like the gunshot?
- 57:59The adrenaline. I don't know, 'cause like you
- 58:02can't just do an EpiPen and then you're done.
- 58:04Like you still have to go to the ER for treatment.
- 58:06I don't know. I've never had a like
- 58:07anaphylaxis so I don't really know how it.
- 58:09Works. It just hit her so hard and
- 58:10fast. I would imagine it should have
- 58:12killed her, but whatever movie. We're just keeping her alive.
- 58:15She's I mean, she's the T800 of like non zombies.
- 58:18Yeah, you're. Right.
- 58:20You're right. Yeah.
- 58:21So she's back in the crew. She gets back in the van.
- 58:24They get to Babylon and Tallahassee throws a grenade in
- 58:27the van and they're like, why did you do that?
- 58:28And he goes, that's one of the rules.
- 58:30Enjoy the little things. Yeah, Yep.
- 58:33Except then they find out they have to give up their guns.
- 58:37They'll laugh for a minute because they can't think of any
- 58:41reasonable society where this rule would exist when there's
- 58:43zombies all over the place. But apparently that's here.
- 58:46And he's like, I'm not doing it. And they're like, OK, well, I
- 58:48guess you can wait in the car. Yeah, and I got to see a Little
- 58:51Rock. So he turns him in rocks.
- 58:53Only they get up there and they find a Little Rock.
- 58:56She's really shocked to see them there.
- 58:57And she's like, they're nice here.
- 59:01I don't think you'll fit in. Yeah, they're also younger.
- 59:04And yeah, you guys are just not gonna really fit in here.
- 59:07And. That's kind of harsh.
- 59:09They went all that way to go see you and she's like, you should
- 59:11go. I mean, she didn't ask them to
- 59:13do it. I guess that's true, yeah.
- 59:17I know that they were worried about her, but this is like,
- 59:20it's the whole metaphor for like growing up or whatever.
- 59:23This is just what it looks like in Zombieland.
- 59:26I suppose, I suppose you're right.
- 59:28It's its own version of it. So they're they're.
- 59:33Tallahassee is essentially an an empty nester.
- 59:36Yeah, you know, and he's going to go strike out on his own now
- 59:41that he knows everybody's safe, you know, So that's what he's
- 59:44going to do. As he's driving off, he sees a
- 59:47pack of T8 hundreds running towards Babylon because those
- 59:51dummies are shooting off fireworks.
- 59:52Bunch of fucking fireworks. Which How are you going to get
- 59:55rid of all the guns but keep the?
- 59:56Fireworks, right? It's like dynamite.
- 59:59And why would like just fire them at the zombies too if
- 1:00:01you're just firing them off already?
- 1:00:02You know, like. These people.
- 1:00:05They're not the smartest. I think you need at least one
- 1:00:09mean person in this scenario that can be like, hey, we gotta
- 1:00:14be ready to kill zombies. Yeah, you have to have somebody
- 1:00:17that's aggressive. You have to.
- 1:00:20So yeah, he goes back there to warn them.
- 1:00:22He's like, hey, big fucking packet CA Hunter's coming, we
- 1:00:25gotta do something. So the game plan, they're gonna
- 1:00:28take the cool in the. Midst of this, Little Rock
- 1:00:30breaks up with Berkeley and Tallahassee is so happy.
- 1:00:34Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah.
- 1:00:35Calls. Like dude, even fucking 12 year
- 1:00:37olds know about bot. Yeah, because he's like, I'm a
- 1:00:39songwriter and not a defense planner.
- 1:00:43And she's like, you're a song transcriber.
- 1:00:45Yeah. So the plan is they're going to
- 1:00:47take the fuel that they have and they're going to just make a big
- 1:00:50old bomb and where the zombies there and blow it up and get as
- 1:00:53many as they can and then take out the stragglers.
- 1:00:55Yep. So that's what they do.
- 1:00:57They draw. They tear down a part of the
- 1:01:00wall and draw all of the zombies towards that area.
- 1:01:03They light the fire and they've essentially created a Ring of
- 1:01:06Fire. It explodes, kills a lot of
- 1:01:09them. They're feeling good about it,
- 1:01:10but then they're just overwhelmed.
- 1:01:12So many more than they expected. So many more.
- 1:01:14They have a little group huddle and they say their goodbye.
- 1:01:17Breeching Tower. They're about to die.
- 1:01:20And then who pulls up but Nevada and the monster trip?
- 1:01:24And she must have fixed it. She must have repaired it and
- 1:01:26then just also taken off. Because Nevada's a badass.
- 1:01:29She is. And yeah, so they climb in and
- 1:01:32they're just running over zombies.
- 1:01:34Yep, just mowing them down. Their own Derby.
- 1:01:37And then they get enough kill to where they run up the tower.
- 1:01:41There were in the rest of the zombies up there.
- 1:01:43And then you see once they get up to the top, the rest of the
- 1:01:47community there have created a barrier that is going to just
- 1:01:51push the zombies straightforward off the edge of the tower.
- 1:01:54And this goes back to the story that Tallahassee was telling
- 1:01:57about the Blackfoot at the beginning, how they would lure
- 1:02:00Buffalo to the edge of a Cliff and run them off, which is what
- 1:02:04they're doing here. And of course, he's the last one
- 1:02:07last human to run up. And he grabs onto a hook and all
- 1:02:10of the zombies are falling and they've almost all gone except
- 1:02:14for the last two, which is a prisoner and a police officer,
- 1:02:19and cut together. And they grab onto his foot.
- 1:02:23And Little Rock saves the day because she still has her gun.
- 1:02:26Yeah, kept the call. She was a smart one.
- 1:02:28She was a smart, mean one. Well, she was really high and
- 1:02:30she forgot she had it, but she also said she wouldn't get rid
- 1:02:32of her favorite Christmas gift ever.
- 1:02:33Aw, that's. So sweet.
- 1:02:35And this also tells me that these people were so serious
- 1:02:38about their no weapons rule that they never actually checked.
- 1:02:40I know they're so true. You.
- 1:02:42Could lie. So we also see Wichita, Greece
- 1:02:49to she says yes to the marriage proposal, and they're all happy.
- 1:02:55Berkeley and Madison, they start making out, Yeah.
- 1:02:59And. Nevada says she's from Reno,
- 1:03:03actually. She says the county.
- 1:03:04She says the county, I don't remember what it is, but
- 1:03:06Tallahassee knows that. It's right.
- 1:03:08He figures it out, Yeah. So it's the next day and they're
- 1:03:11all together now. They're all driving off.
- 1:03:13They're in Elvis's pink Cadillac with the plush Ellis seats.
- 1:03:17Like where to now? And Columbus says home and then
- 1:03:20they say where is that? He says think we're already
- 1:03:22there. Which makes me mad because
- 1:03:24you're the one that said it. Yeah, like you're not
- 1:03:26contributing anything. You're just.
- 1:03:28Trying to be cheesy and deep and it's gross, EW.
- 1:03:32Like Wichita is thinking this thing over again.
- 1:03:35She's like, Oh my God. No lawyers.
- 1:03:37No lawyers. Where's another piece of paper I
- 1:03:39need needed to write another note.
- 1:03:42That's the end. That's the end.
- 1:03:44But we get in aftergrows. We see the beginning of Bill
- 1:03:48Murray's experience with the zombie outbreak, and he's doing
- 1:03:52press for Garfield 3. Press junket.
- 1:03:55Yeah. Yeah, and Al Roker is trying to
- 1:03:57get him to gag, and then Al Roker turns into a zombie and
- 1:04:01then he kills a bunch of people on his way out.
- 1:04:03And that, that's how it goes. So yeah, that's how that goes.
- 1:04:09I think it's a decent follow up. It makes me want another one.
- 1:04:12I was worried it wasn't going to be.
- 1:04:14Good. I was the first time I watched
- 1:04:15it. I was really surprised that it
- 1:04:16was as good as it is. I'm you know, I think I am
- 1:04:18bumping it to an 8 for me. Yay, ending average 8.
- 1:04:22I'm keeping it, keep it, OK? Talia was like in herself during
- 1:04:26this. She was dreaming big too.
- 1:04:27I remember she was having a good time.
- 1:04:29She was dreaming big. She went out with 20 minutes
- 1:04:34left. I think she just wanted to
- 1:04:35extend it a little bit. She did.
- 1:04:37She didn't want it to end. So I think Talia will give this
- 1:04:39an 8, yeah, because that's what the zombies did.
- 1:04:41Yeah, that's true. Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:04:45I think, I think Zoe respected the TA hundreds, their tenacity.
- 1:04:51Yeah. Their refusal to quit.
- 1:04:54I get it, I agree. That's Zoe in the mornings when
- 1:04:56she's trying to wake me up to get her to food or get me to
- 1:04:59feed her. You know who watched this entire
- 1:05:01movie with us on the couch? Cordelia.
- 1:05:04Cordelia, you know who watched None of 28 Years Later with us
- 1:05:07on the couch? Cordial, Yeah.
- 1:05:09In the kitchen. Two different she's like zombie
- 1:05:11movie. It's gonna be funny, great guys.
- 1:05:13And then she started watching. 28 years later, she's like, this
- 1:05:15is terrible. She went and sat in the dark.
- 1:05:18Dude the beginning of that movie is so fucking dark is she saw
- 1:05:22that she's like what is humanity?
- 1:05:25She didn't go think. This is a comedy.
- 1:05:27Is this supposed to be funny? She's.
- 1:05:29Like I thought zombie movies were funny movies.
- 1:05:32Why is this? Zombie versus Zombieland.
- 1:05:35Cooties. Cooties like they've set a
- 1:05:37precedent clearly that they're supposed to be comedies and this
- 1:05:40person goes out and makes them scary.
- 1:05:42This is a hoop for her. Yeah, she liked it.
- 1:05:45Yeah. Who did you relate to while
- 1:05:49we're on the topic? I guess I probably relate.
- 1:05:55I relate to Madison I think because I am also a vegan and if
- 1:06:01anything was going to Take Me Out of the zombie apocalypse,
- 1:06:03it's like 5050 between it being a zombie or an allergic reaction
- 1:06:06to something. Oh my God, Yeah, that's a good
- 1:06:09point. Yeah.
- 1:06:12Oh boy, I relate to Al Roker because here in Bill Murray make
- 1:06:16that sound makes me one of on it.
- 1:06:19OK, that's a good, that's a good thing to relate to.
- 1:06:22OK, right? Dream sequel.
- 1:06:28OK. If we do get a third one.
- 1:06:29I want them to go out West. OK, yeah, go out West, change
- 1:06:33the scenery. Bring back Luke Wilson and
- 1:06:36Thomas Middleditch. Obviously they're not going to
- 1:06:38be their same characters, but I, I.
- 1:06:41Bring them back, they can be alive.
- 1:06:42You know, like whatever hand wave it away.
- 1:06:45No, because they turned into zombies and they got killed.
- 1:06:48Very much on this. Well then how do you bring them
- 1:06:49back? I was going to say that and you
- 1:06:51didn't give me a chance. Oh, go ahead.
- 1:06:53No one here. Bring them back and they're
- 1:06:56different characters. And the whole time everybody's
- 1:06:59like, they seem really familiar. And because Little Rock wasn't
- 1:07:02there, she was like, yeah, they're obviously just like
- 1:07:04Tallahassee and Columbus. But what if they play like the
- 1:07:08opposites of Little Rock and Wichita?
- 1:07:12Yeah. That would be so funny.
- 1:07:14OK, Yeah. All right, which one's which?
- 1:07:17I think Thomas Middle just still has to be the younger one.
- 1:07:19Yeah, he's so high. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking
- 1:07:21too. OK, that's it.
- 1:07:22Yeah. Perfect.
- 1:07:23That that would be funny. All right, OK.
- 1:07:28What would Dom do? Well, Dom does not have any
- 1:07:33shortage of vehicles that can do maximum damage to zombies.
- 1:07:38And he wouldn't let the like shortage of vehicles, like
- 1:07:41working vehicles be a problem because he knows how to work on
- 1:07:43vehicles and get them running again.
- 1:07:44And he would never turn his shotgun in to any community
- 1:07:48whatsoever. So like he wouldn't go to to
- 1:07:53Babylon just because like he doesn't believe in Babylon.
- 1:07:57If he did though, like say he had to go get Letty or somebody.
- 1:08:01Yeah, 'cause Letty would. Well, B ran off to the well B
- 1:08:04ran off. Yeah, well, B is not in it for
- 1:08:07the life of cars and violence. I feel like he'd find a way to
- 1:08:11go in there and keep Babylon mostly peaceful but still have
- 1:08:14like people on patrol or something.
- 1:08:17He would lure them in with a BBQ full of Corona, Yeah.
- 1:08:22And he would lure their guard down.
- 1:08:24And then slowly there's like a mutiny and he like takes over
- 1:08:27and nobody ever realizes until like suddenly Dom is in charge.
- 1:08:32Yeah, OK. And then it just kind of becomes
- 1:08:36family and cars and racing, but zombies sprinkled in here and
- 1:08:41there. Yeah.
- 1:08:43But yeah, this mostly is just fast and furious from there.
- 1:08:46OK, I'm good with that. Back to still in DVD players,
- 1:08:51OK. Combo TVDVD players.
- 1:08:55True, true. Different, different game.
- 1:08:59All right, let's do a tagline. Let's slap one on this bad boy.
- 1:09:03Give peace a chance. Maybe.
- 1:09:08No. Take my gun if you want to live.
- 1:09:12Take my gun if you want to live. Yeah, it's from T2.
- 1:09:15Take my hand. Take my hand if you want to
- 1:09:16live. OK.
- 1:09:18I like that. Yeah.
- 1:09:19Yeah. Good.
- 1:09:19I like it. All right.
- 1:09:22Review. Yes, yes, I believe it's time.
- 1:09:31OK, so I got a four outs in here.
- 1:09:33It's titled not funny, but desperately trying to be.
- 1:09:36The original had some charm. The sequel has a little to none.
- 1:09:41Sequels are always difficult because producers want to repeat
- 1:09:44a formula. Money hungry producers want to
- 1:09:46repeat the success, instantly forgetting that any good films
- 1:09:48basis for success, its originality and most sequels are
- 1:09:52simply not original in any way. The original Zombieland movie
- 1:09:55had some charm, It wasn't superb, but it's still quite
- 1:09:58enjoyable. The sequel though from the get
- 1:10:00go, desperately wanted to be funny and fell as at it quite
- 1:10:03miserably. There is more bad news.
- 1:10:05I need some serious characters I can believe in, even in the
- 1:10:07comedy before I can really appreciate the jokes.
- 1:10:10But the characters in this sequel are flat cardboard
- 1:10:12characters and boring stereotypes.
- 1:10:14It simply bored the heck out of me after half an hour as no good
- 1:10:18jokes, no true to life acting, no distinguishable or
- 1:10:21originality. It's simply a zombie movie for
- 1:10:24the masses who will watch it on their misguided hope it will be
- 1:10:28as good as the original. It is not.
- 1:10:30Dang. Yeah, I don't think.
- 1:10:32It's as good as the original, but I don't think it's a let
- 1:10:34down. I don't either like I it's one
- 1:10:37of those ones that like I was happy with how good it did as a
- 1:10:40sequel because it's one of those ones where you are worried that
- 1:10:43they're going to be like that sequel we.
- 1:10:44Put off watching it for so long and then we finally did.
- 1:10:48Enjoyed it so much I. Was like, yeah, like, wow.
- 1:10:50I'm glad that it turned out way better than I ever expected it
- 1:10:54would have. Yeah.
- 1:10:55And yeah, like it's, I don't know, like I, I think it
- 1:10:58deserves its fair chance. Like it, it stands on its own.
- 1:11:03But yeah, it's not as good as the first, but that's, you know,
- 1:11:05like who's going to expect it to be better?
- 1:11:09You know, like, I think you need to come in just hoping that
- 1:11:14it'll be maybe as good as the first, but you know, like it's
- 1:11:18fine. I don't.
- 1:11:19I mean, I don't even think it rehashes anything that bad.
- 1:11:22Like, I, you know, like, it's not original, but it's just fun,
- 1:11:27you know, like, you know what you're getting with this.
- 1:11:30So, like, you know, if it is exactly what you're expecting,
- 1:11:33there's nothing wrong with that. Nope.
- 1:11:35OK, let's check out some listener reviews then.
- 1:11:38All right. Yeah.
- 1:11:38We don't really have anything. So if you haven't really seen
- 1:11:40this movie, you know, check it out if you've been afraid to, if

- 1:11:45first one, you know, like, maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised.
- 1:11:49I recommend it. Yeah.
