- 0:00Speaker 1: Adam Capell. Here will get Adam's power rankings after the
- 0:04Speaker 1: eleventh week of the season as the Eagles head into Dallas,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Dallas week. Where are the Cowboys? Are they in his
- 0:09Speaker 1: top of the power rankings? Now, they look good last night.
- 0:12Speaker 1: That allics Cowboys. I gotta give him that credit. They
- 0:14Speaker 1: did look pretty good last night, and we'll discuss that
- 0:17Speaker 1: with Adam Kaplan here on the Sports Best and listen.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I the caveat of the Cowboys looking good is they
- 0:23Speaker 1: played against a half assed Raiders team. That team stinks.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But I will give you credit for going on the
- 0:30Speaker 1: road and beating up on a team that you should
- 0:34Speaker 1: beat up. I hate when people say, well, you only
- 0:38Speaker 1: beat this team. Look what the Giants did to the
- 0:41Speaker 1: Eagles this year. Never take for granted going on the
- 0:44Speaker 1: road and winning a football game. Six nine four three
- 0:48Speaker 1: oh nine seventy three. Some text messages coming in, but
- 0:50Speaker 1: right now, Adam Kaplan for today's football at four from
- 0:54Speaker 1: the Inside of the Birds podcast Inside the Birds dot
- 0:56Speaker 1: Com joins us today with some Eagles news notes information,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and we're gonna take a look at his power rankings
- 1:03Speaker 1: after eleven weeks of the season, which is it is
- 1:05Speaker 1: a jumbled mess at the top. Adam Kaplan joins us
- 1:09Speaker 1: now on the Sports Batch. Adam welcome.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, Mike again, We've been talking about this
- 1:16Speaker 2: for weeks. It's so wide open to the National Football League.
- 1:19Speaker 2: You know, you look at fourteen teams to magat seventh
- 1:21Speaker 2: from both conference. We used to have twelve, but then
- 1:23Speaker 2: they added the extra wildcard team. But it's really wide open, Mike.
- 1:27Speaker 2: This is a good year if you're maybe if you're
- 1:29Speaker 2: not having your best year, just get in and you
- 1:32Speaker 2: got a shot.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Just get in, got a shot. I agree, it's open season.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Everybody's got a shot here real quick. You saw Dallas
- 1:41Speaker 1: last night the first game with Quinn Williams defense. I
- 1:45Speaker 1: know they played the Raiders, but you got to give
- 1:47Speaker 1: you know, you go on the road and you do
- 1:48Speaker 1: what you're supposed to do. You beat that team up.
- 1:51Speaker 1: We know they have a dangerous offense. I know we're
- 1:53Speaker 1: a deep dive into this game on Friday's show, But now,
- 1:57Speaker 1: were you impressed with Dallas last night?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll give you a quick couple of nuggets on
- 2:02Speaker 2: this game and from Dallas' standpoint, so they got two
- 2:08Speaker 2: important pieces back. We're coming up major knee injuries to
- 2:10Speaker 2: Marven Over shown just a really good football player. It's
- 2:13Speaker 2: been besieged with knee problems. Give us kid credit. Some
- 2:16Speaker 2: kids would have just retired.
- 2:18Speaker 1: He didn't.
- 2:18Speaker 2: He played last night. I believe thirty snaps. Shavron Ravel,
- 2:23Speaker 2: who was a third round pick, a corner out of
- 2:24Speaker 2: East Carolina. He probably would have been a high second
- 2:27Speaker 2: round pick if he was to come back to an
- 2:28Speaker 2: ACL injury. He played twenty one snaps. This is the
- 2:31Speaker 2: first his first playing time. So they're much lying. Terrible defense,
- 2:36Speaker 2: sometimes not competitive. I know it's the raider Sheina Smith
- 2:39Speaker 2: has really regressed, but we know about the five powers
- 2:44Speaker 2: you mentioned. These pieces that they got are going to
- 2:47Speaker 2: help them. They got Millie Hooker when they're starting state
- 2:49Speaker 2: back off injury reserve in this game, this past game
- 2:53Speaker 2: as well. Tell we'll see how they mix in. But
- 2:56Speaker 2: the talent levels now increased for a Dallas defense that
- 3:00Speaker 2: at times Mike and Neagles will see this when they're
- 3:02Speaker 2: well where they're Kelly Greens. Yeah, in Dallas on the afternoon,
- 3:06Speaker 2: they'll see this first half.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and we know they have a good offense. They
- 3:11Speaker 1: make a couple of catches on Opening night this game
- 3:13Speaker 1: has a lot more meeting. But I'll tell you what
- 3:15Speaker 1: you know. We know the stat no team has re
- 3:19Speaker 1: back to back in the NFC East. They would have
- 3:21Speaker 1: to win this game Dallas and pretty much I think
- 3:24Speaker 1: Dallas is in a situation where they almost need to
- 3:25Speaker 1: win out. They have four wins. What do you think
- 3:28Speaker 1: the number is ten.
- 3:31Speaker 2: To get way to get in and win the NFC.
- 3:33Speaker 1: No to' get into the playoff. I mean, I don't
- 3:35Speaker 1: think that the Listen, if they win this week, we
- 3:37Speaker 1: have a different conversation next week. But to get into
- 3:40Speaker 1: the playoffs, you're probably gonna need ten wins and they're
- 3:42Speaker 1: at four right now. Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: So Mike, if you look at you know, I send
- 3:46Speaker 2: you my list, and how I see them in my
- 3:49Speaker 2: top ten teams. I think I've got six NFC teams
- 3:53Speaker 2: the NFC for the first time in many years. It
- 3:56Speaker 2: might just be a little bit better than the ANFC. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'd agree that you're gonna need at least ten. They're
- 4:03Speaker 2: four to five and one. If they beat the Birds,
- 4:05Speaker 2: you know, they'd be five hundred tie. It's just so
- 4:07Speaker 2: funny how that actually could play into something. Wouldn't that
- 4:10Speaker 2: wouldn't They wouldn't that be hilarious if Green Bay started
- 4:12Speaker 2: really falling apart and they and they finished with the
- 4:16Speaker 2: same exact records they fight each other, that came down
- 4:19Speaker 2: to like some odd time record. But that that's that's
- 4:22Speaker 2: well down the road.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Well I'll tell you what you just mentioned it right now,
- 4:26Speaker 1: green Bay with that tie is actually helping them out, uh,
- 4:30Speaker 1: because they are ahead of the forty nine ers because
- 4:32Speaker 1: the Niners have four losses even though they have seven wins.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So the tie is helping green Bay out. They are
- 4:38Speaker 1: the six seed and the Niners are the seventh seed.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Let's see how you see them, Adam Kaplan. As we
- 4:43Speaker 1: finish eleven weeks of NFL football, do we have a
- 4:47Speaker 1: new team at the top of the standings?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so I did these. You know a couple of
- 4:53Speaker 2: weeks ago from the Eagles are coming on the buy.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Things have changed. Look injuries, lineup changes, all sorts of
- 5:00Speaker 2: things have changed. And I know the Eagles beat the Rams.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I get that the Rams dominated that game for almost
- 5:08Speaker 2: three quarters, like it wasn't even competitive, and then the
- 5:11Speaker 2: Rams had a comedy of ours. I give the Eagles
- 5:14Speaker 2: credit for coming back in that game very ear in
- 5:15Speaker 2: the season. No team has played better than the Rams
- 5:18Speaker 2: since then, and I've got the Rams at eight and two,
- 5:21Speaker 2: same recu as Eagles as my number one team right now.
- 5:24Speaker 1: All right, well at Philadelphia obviously beat them here in Philly,
- 5:27Speaker 1: but you like the Rams better. You do have Philadelphia though,
- 5:30Speaker 1: moving down from one spot because I think the last
- 5:33Speaker 1: time we did this, this a couple of weeks ago,
- 5:34Speaker 1: I think Tampa Bay was in that spot, in the
- 5:37Speaker 1: number two spot, and I don't know that they made
- 5:39Speaker 1: your top fourteen.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Well, see, the thing is, I have to stick now.
- 5:46Speaker 2: I'm trying to put the divisional winners in there. I
- 5:48Speaker 2: would have Tampa Bay in but uh, you know, now
- 5:52Speaker 2: are they going to win their division? Carolina's another that
- 5:57Speaker 2: Bucks are so beat up, But I Mike, I've got
- 6:01Speaker 2: the Eagles at number two.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Now.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Elane Johnson injury. You and I have not talked obviously
- 6:05Speaker 2: since he's had this injury. The list, Frank Sprain, it's
- 6:08Speaker 2: not it's not a rupture. The rupture means he's done
- 6:11Speaker 2: until till late spring, early summer following n Kobe Dean
- 6:15Speaker 2: had that rupture in twenty twenty three at that ended
- 6:18Speaker 2: his season. It's a bad injury. Daley had it. It's
- 6:22Speaker 2: it's ended careers that Mike Mamula told me to end
- 6:25Speaker 2: his career. That's the rupture. This is not the rupture.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It's the midfoot sprain. You didn't tear it. It's a sprain.
- 6:33Speaker 2: So h, we'll see Mike Breg Johnson fills in their
- 6:38Speaker 2: depth on the offensive line. Now, let's we'll see if
- 6:43Speaker 2: we'll see if what they do to add depth on
- 6:48Speaker 2: their offensive line.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Uh.
- 6:50Speaker 2: The question is when will the draft pick Miles Hitting
- 6:55Speaker 2: be ready? That leak, Sir said to me, watch and
- 6:57Speaker 2: see if they if they activate him soon, we'll have
- 7:00Speaker 2: to see or at least put him in the twenty
- 7:02Speaker 2: one day window.
- 7:03Speaker 1: All right. Uh, let's take a look at the next
- 7:05Speaker 1: group of teams. Here, Rams one, Eagles two. Who's three
- 7:09Speaker 1: four and five?
- 7:11Speaker 2: All right? This one, Mike, they have look the coltsm
- 7:15Speaker 2: into soft gardener trade. I believe they're coming off their
- 7:17Speaker 2: by right. They've got It's funny they get soft Gardiner.
- 7:21Speaker 2: They're still not eat the corner until they get Shavari's
- 7:24Speaker 2: word back, who was previously their top corner. The big
- 7:28Speaker 2: injury for them is to Frest Buckner. They don't know
- 7:30Speaker 2: what he's going to be back or it probably have
- 7:32Speaker 2: them even a little bit higher. But see the thing
- 7:36Speaker 2: about this, Mike, it's like you go through fourteen teams.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Every team has a problem. Yes, coverage problems, injury problems,
- 7:44Speaker 2: coaching issues. The Colts have the Farst Buckner problem, one
- 7:47Speaker 2: of the top five defensive tackles in the league. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: don't know when he's gonna returns. Hope he returns to
- 7:52Speaker 2: the playoffs. But Daniel Jones for the most part has
- 7:56Speaker 2: been lights out then one bad game. Uh, They're are
- 8:00Speaker 2: really good, they're well coached, and they're my number three team.
- 8:04Speaker 1: What year is this, nineteen ninety eight, the Culture three
- 8:07Speaker 1: and the Patriots are four.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Mike, I just I can't. I totally missed on the Patriots.
- 8:13Speaker 2: I'll never forget on sports grid. So we do our college,
- 8:16Speaker 2: we do our over under totals, and I laughed. I said,
- 8:18Speaker 2: there's no way to going over eight and a half wins,
- 8:20Speaker 2: No way, Because the odds makers were thicking Rabe will
- 8:24Speaker 2: be like last year with Jim Harball, by the way,
- 8:26Speaker 2: same eight and a half win future total. And it
- 8:28Speaker 2: went over the total. I'll admit it. I told my
- 8:31Speaker 2: buddy with the Patriots, the same thing I said, Dude,
- 8:33Speaker 2: I don't see it. Good luck to you guys, and
- 8:34Speaker 2: I'm totally wrong. I'm happy to admit it. They've completely overachieved.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Mike Drake may having a breakout season. Wow, now he's
- 8:41Speaker 2: got to I vote in two polls. I'm I've got
- 8:44Speaker 2: to seriously consider him for MVP when we get down
- 8:46Speaker 2: to it. But I've got them at number four. Coaching matters,
- 8:48Speaker 2: by the way, don't you think?
- 8:49Speaker 1: Oh? Absolutely, And I think a lot of people did
- 8:52Speaker 1: not see the Patriots doing what they're doing right now.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But how about the team in the five spot? Did
- 8:56Speaker 1: anybody see this team at eight and two? Well, they may.
- 9:00Speaker 2: The playoffs last year, but I hate the the Broncos.
- 9:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I just can't stand them. Their defense is
- 9:04Speaker 2: phenomenon and Evans shows up NFL's best defense and a
- 9:08Speaker 2: number of metrics. Bo knicks he sufficient, he's athletic, very
- 9:15Speaker 2: up and down the JK. Dobbins for the year. He
- 9:19Speaker 2: had another bad injury. It's a shame. I feel bad
- 9:21Speaker 2: for him. He's had so many different injuries. They're a
- 9:24Speaker 2: good team, don't get me wrong. They might even win
- 9:27Speaker 2: their division. They worry me. They're kind of like the Eagles,
- 9:30Speaker 2: They've got a lot of upside, but you trust them
- 9:33Speaker 2: the score points despite by the way, do you think
- 9:35Speaker 2: the Eagles have talent on offense? The Broncos are still
- 9:37Speaker 2: loaded at receiver.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That Broncos team's got a very good defense too, as
- 9:41Speaker 1: you mentioned, just kind of like the Eagles are. Their
- 9:43Speaker 1: defense kind of leads them to wins some weeks there.
- 9:46Speaker 1: All right, after this, it gets very interesting. You can
- 9:48Speaker 1: start picking teams out of a hat. You can pretty
- 9:50Speaker 1: much picking all fourteen teams out of a hat. Yere,
- 9:53Speaker 1: who is your six team on your power rankings?
- 9:56Speaker 2: All right, I've got the Niners here at seven and four.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Rod perty back. They dominated by the way that point spread.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I laughed, that was I said this on sports cried
- 10:05Speaker 2: one of the worst lines I've I've seen all year.
- 10:08Speaker 2: How in the world, Mike, were the Niners only three
- 10:10Speaker 2: and a half point favor against the team that can't
- 10:13Speaker 2: do anything right? The Cardinals? John vian Gannon, It's not
- 10:15Speaker 2: really his fault, Mike. They have a bad roster now
- 10:19Speaker 2: that they they they loaded up to the defensive line.
- 10:22Speaker 2: They just cannot win games. Cardinals. For getting back to
- 10:24Speaker 2: the Niners, they're getting healthier. H McCaffrey has been phenomenal. Mike.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I got them at six. They're playing good football. They're
- 10:32Speaker 2: getting a little.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Healthier, all right. For Bile the way that division, you
- 10:37Speaker 1: have the Rams at one, you have the Niners at six.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You have another team in that division coming up, but
- 10:43Speaker 1: they're not next We're going back to the AFC East.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, listen, if Sam Donald didn't have seven
- 10:49Speaker 2: turnovers in the last two weeks, Mike, I'd have them higher.
- 10:52Speaker 2: That's embarrassing. I know the players have been very out
- 10:55Speaker 2: there and protecting Donald. They've stuck up for him. I
- 10:59Speaker 2: get it, Mike, with Donald to the head coach, but like,
- 11:01Speaker 2: come on, man, how do you have seven turnovers in
- 11:03Speaker 2: two weeks? That can't happen? And I've got damn Mike
- 11:08Speaker 2: at I've got the Bills ahead of them at seven
- 11:10Speaker 2: and three. By the way, Josh Allen two two weeks ago,
- 11:14Speaker 2: terrible last week, lights out, he bounced back there at.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Seven seven for the Bills. That's gonna be an interesting
- 11:20Speaker 1: battle in the AFC East. They play each other coming
- 11:22Speaker 1: up down the stretch. Here another crazy battles the NFC West.
- 11:26Speaker 1: This is where the Seahawks, who showed a little crack
- 11:29Speaker 1: in the game against the Rams. You have them at
- 11:30Speaker 1: number eight and.
- 11:32Speaker 2: They could have won that game. Their defense shut down
- 11:34Speaker 2: the Rams for the most part. They hung in there,
- 11:37Speaker 2: but then Donald was a turnover machine. With the four turnovers.
- 11:41Speaker 2: I've got them at seven three. Their defense is top
- 11:43Speaker 2: three in the National Football League. If Donald stopped turning,
- 11:46Speaker 2: the third team that could make a run in the NFC.
- 11:48Speaker 2: If they can stop.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Turn it over. Yeah, they turned it over. And the
- 11:50Speaker 1: Donald people back out there saying, see when a big
- 11:53Speaker 1: game happens, that's what you get. Packers number nine, six,
- 11:57Speaker 1: three and one. And by the way, the Bears are
- 12:01Speaker 1: the leaders in the NFC North right.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Now, bad division. Ro Well, let's put it this way.
- 12:08Speaker 2: The Lion, we'll get the lines at a minute. The Packers,
- 12:11Speaker 2: now here's where the Packers. They just have to get in.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They'll get Josh Shakes back for the playoffs. It's week
- 12:15Speaker 2: to week with the knee injury. They've got a couple
- 12:18Speaker 2: of injuries they've got to get through. That's not going
- 12:20Speaker 2: to be good not having Josh Jacos. Because Matt Lafort,
- 12:24Speaker 2: mister Ballance, we have to run the football. You know
- 12:26Speaker 2: he trust to run way too much. That hurts them.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Their defense has got some injuries. But I've got them
- 12:32Speaker 2: at nine. They are six three and when I give
- 12:34Speaker 2: him credit for winning last week, but they're start to
- 12:36Speaker 2: come back to earth a little bit.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And then the Lions. So right there that division Packers, Lions,
- 12:43Speaker 1: but the Bears not in there. But like the Lions
- 12:45Speaker 1: better than the Bears. I do.
- 12:47Speaker 2: The Bears are beat up in the second at Jalen Johnson,
- 12:50Speaker 2: who's terrific. He's been missed most of the season. One
- 12:53Speaker 2: of the top corners in the league. The nickel corner
- 12:55Speaker 2: Kylin Gordon's been out. They're they're they're winning dangerously. They're
- 12:59Speaker 2: not that good. They're kind of fun to watch. Of course,
- 13:02Speaker 2: they played the Eagles and Black Friday here Philly, which
- 13:05Speaker 2: is gonna be crazy on a Friday. I've got the
- 13:07Speaker 2: Lions at ten, Mike, Yet I got the lines at
- 13:09Speaker 2: six and four. They just have to get healthy their quarnerbacks,
- 13:12Speaker 2: Twich is decimated. They'll be healthier for the playoffs.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Let's look at it that way, all right, these last
- 13:16Speaker 1: four teams, looking at two of them that are not
- 13:19Speaker 1: even in the playoff field. As we speak. I know,
- 13:23Speaker 1: by the way, the Lions are also not in the
- 13:25Speaker 1: playoffs if they started today as well at number eleven Baltimore, Mike.
- 13:32Speaker 2: See, remember it's projected and we're not in the playoffs.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Don't start now. So I've got the Ravens at five
- 13:37Speaker 2: and five. Only four teams since in the last thirty
- 13:41Speaker 2: five years I've made the playoffs starting at one and five.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Andy Reid did it, and then I think I have
- 13:47Speaker 2: to pretty certainlyy won ten in a row after being
- 13:50Speaker 2: one and five without looking twenty fifteen, Andy third year.
- 13:54Speaker 2: So John barbo is a great coach and Andy Reid disciple.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I like them, and I'm gonna put them in the playoffs.
- 14:01Speaker 2: By the way, they're probably they're gonna shock the world
- 14:05Speaker 2: and probably win that division.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Hey, listen, we have who's in, who's out coming up
- 14:09Speaker 1: at five point thirty tonight. The last three weeks, I
- 14:11Speaker 1: have switched over. I agree with you. I picked the
- 14:14Speaker 1: Ravens to win that division and Aaron Rodgers out. We
- 14:17Speaker 1: don't know how long he's got a broken something wrist
- 14:20Speaker 1: and over there all right, Chargers, there's another one. I mean,
- 14:24Speaker 1: the Eagles have no Lane Johnson. We know what their
- 14:25Speaker 1: record is without him, But the Chargers have been a
- 14:28Speaker 1: disaster with this offensive line.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, both tackles are out for the season. It's Betsy
- 14:35Speaker 2: is not played quite as well as he did last year.
- 14:37Speaker 2: He's been hurt a little bit. Uh. But they're seven
- 14:40Speaker 2: top for two weeks. Right when they hammered the Steelers,
- 14:44Speaker 2: I think they were mostly spent. They got to They
- 14:48Speaker 2: got to Jacksonville on a Friday to get used to
- 14:50Speaker 2: the time difference three hours. It didn't help. They got
- 14:53Speaker 2: blown out.
- 14:53Speaker 1: They got spent.
- 14:54Speaker 2: They're really well coached. They got smoked and embarrassed by
- 14:57Speaker 2: a mediocre Jaguars team, although that a ours defense is
- 15:01Speaker 2: pretty good. I got the Chargers at twelve at seven.
- 15:03Speaker 1: And four, and the Chargers got smoked by the Jazz.
- 15:05Speaker 1: But you still like them better than the Jags.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I get that. See these are I don't look
- 15:11Speaker 2: at powerings when I assume for Fox sports dot Com.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Oh well, this team beat that team, so they can't
- 15:15Speaker 2: be high.
- 15:16Speaker 1: I don't.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I don't like. I don't do that. I go by
- 15:18Speaker 2: what I'm projecting the playoffs mic and how I see
- 15:21Speaker 2: them as we as we if the playoffs started today,
- 15:23Speaker 2: This is how I see them. I got the Jacks,
- 15:25Speaker 2: but Anthony Anthony Campinelli has done a phenomenal job as
- 15:29Speaker 2: a defense coordinator, but the quarterback Trevor Lawrence, has been
- 15:33Speaker 2: a disappointment. Say the least, I have them six or four,
- 15:36Speaker 2: but they do have some upside at thirteen if I
- 15:38Speaker 2: have them all.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Right, and then last the final playoff team, Oh yeah,
