- 4:02A lot of people don't your eyes, you know.
- 4:05Different things based on probably the roles that you play
- 4:07to them, but there there, how would you describe yourself, you
- 4:10know, on a personal basis? Thank you very much, Ademola.
- 4:18You have already done the introduction.

- 4:59I want to say that I work with many organisation that their
- 5:03financial statement is not up to date.

- 5:09they move to another organisation.

- 5:40problem. That's what made me to be a
- 5:43Chartered Accountant producer. I'm not just a Chartered
- 5:46Accountant. I produced Chartered Accountant.
- 5:49Including yourself. Yeah, I should.
- 5:52I should have read it. I do on on my discussion.
- 5:59Right. Wow.
- 6:00You are you are you are really great banana.
- 6:03Of course I always appreciate you know that value that that
- 6:07you you give and the value that you have actually issued in my
- 6:11in my life and you know that speaks to why I have been
- 6:14haunting you since last year to complete all the podcast.
- 6:18Thank you very much. So really, you know that you
- 6:23understand a person, right? I strongly believe that it is
- 6:26essential to to get to know about their childhood and what
- 6:31growing up was like for them because that those are the
- 6:34formative years, right? And you know, the values that go
- 6:38on to make an adult are usually formed, you know, in the process
- 6:42of childhood. So can you please, you know,
- 6:45tell us, you know, about your childhood and what growing up
- 6:48was like for yourself? Hmm.
- 6:52Hi Demola, the question you have just asked is a question are
- 6:56they like to reflect back on Go growing up but his childhood was
- 7:01a difficult one for. Me, I must tell you I want the
- 7:05youth coming out there to listen to this podcast again and again
- 7:10and learn from my AH. At my tender age, I want to tell
- 7:15you that I started paying my JSS 3 Why Heck examination myself.
- 7:21See when I get my pH. D.
- 7:23In fact, I would go like down the memory lane.
- 7:27My parents wish to sponsor my education but the power is not
- 7:34yet due to some difficulty they they face during that time there
- 7:41were to do person but at times that when we are growing they
- 7:45face some predicament that makes them not.
- 7:49To be up to their responsibility and during when I was young they
- 7:55used to call me big. No bigma as my ideas because
- 7:59I'm, well, chubby. Because of that name.
- 8:04That name makes me to say that if I'm called Big Man because my
- 8:09parents for now have some difficulty and challenges, I
- 8:13must ensure I become a person in life by when I was I think seven
- 8:21years. I do follow people that are
- 8:24constructing building. We call it brick layers.
- 8:27I. Do assist them to carry cement
- 8:31to make sand in order to get some money that I will use to
- 8:37take care of my academics. As I've said, growing up is not
- 8:43a good experience, but I. Have it in mind that I will
- 8:48become somebody and I will tell the youth over there.
- 8:51Even when you don't have parents, you can become whatever
- 8:54you want to become the moment you will have the determination.
- 8:58But two things must come on board.
- 9:01One, you must have a good attitude and you must be
- 9:05prayerful. Good attitude makes you to meet
- 9:09people that will assist you in your journey.
- 9:11So getting during my youth age. I fend for myself.
- 9:18Fend for my junior ones to the extent that while I was in the
- 9:26ND one at Federal Polytechnic offer, I want to become a
- 9:30lawyer. But when you have your jump and
- 9:33you won't be able to pursue it to the latter, you know our
- 9:36system. But thank God Professor Leidy
- 9:40came on board to stabilise it. Now even when Jam gave you
- 9:44admission, you still need to pursue it with some connections
- 9:49and other things. I was unable to do that.
- 9:51That's why I got to Andy at Federal Polytechnic cover.
- 9:55So during my day one. I.
- 9:58Need to pay school fees I didn't have but the Polytechnic have
- 10:02staff secondary school they are building.
- 10:04I need to go there to support the civil engineer will call
- 10:09bricklayer here and become the bricklayer boy to miss the
- 10:13cement and collect money. The experience I want to share
- 10:16is that one of my friends, a girlfriend Jokela Sisi, was
- 10:22passing by and she saw me and I'm a good idea allow my
- 10:29background to affect me in class.
- 10:30I was still the class captain because I'm brilliant right from
- 10:34childhood. I told myself that I will always
- 10:37be the first in the class which I don't see this present moment.
- 10:41So she saw me and instead of me to run away.
- 10:45I continued looking at her. She said I decided not to answer
- 10:49her pretending and see if I'm not the buyer.
- 10:51She now she said Wow people used to look alike look as if this
- 10:59person resemble by her. You know that she used to do cap
- 11:05in carrying those so she was she was murdered.
- 11:10So this person can actually look like bio in the evening when we
- 11:14have class. That very day I went home serve
- 11:17them, collect my money, take my bath and look nice, put perfume
- 11:22and get to the class. Joking.
- 11:24I said why you buy you buy your Come, please, please.
- 11:27I saw someone that looked like you.
- 11:29I said yes. God used to create us Tutu.
- 11:32So where is he? I said where is the person?
- 11:37Said Ohh. Person was walking staff.
- 11:39Secondary school is a bricklayer.
- 11:41I was angry. I said so You didn't have
- 11:44anybody to compare me with. You are comparing me with a
- 11:47bricklayer. Well, let's go.
- 11:51So we went for getting there. They've already closed, which I
- 11:55know you can't meet anybody like that, he said.
- 11:59They've closed. So what I'm trying to say is
- 12:03that my young age was a challenging one, but I take it
- 12:08in good faith knowing fully there will be a.
- 12:10Light at the end of the tunnel. And here I am today.
- 12:15I know what good I've done in my life.
- 12:17Thank you. Probably, yeah, that that sees.
- 12:21A really, really amazing and inspiring story right there.
- 12:26But then you know lessons and values that you know I
- 12:29personally peak from your childhood, right?
- 12:32Or self belief, right? Determination, right?
- 12:38Resilience. Persistence, right.
- 12:41These things are like really really essential and you know
- 12:45the the the goal with you to to propel you towards, you know
- 12:49upgrade things in life. Like you said your your attitude
- 12:54is very very very important in life.
- 12:56You know, I like to say that your attitude determines the
- 13:00magnitude of your I remember meeting.
- 13:07You when? I was in the course of, you
- 13:09know, becoming a chartered accountant and then I.
- 13:11Saw I saw how you believed in me as a young person and then you
- 13:16you identified that OK, this guy has a right.
- 13:22And then I was, I was I was support him like really I put it
- 13:26to you. I really appreciate you know,
- 13:27all of the support that you gave me, you know?
- 13:30In becoming a chartered accountant.
- 13:32And you know. Also.
- 13:36I remember that. My final yeah, my my, my final
- 13:40exams, right? That was the very first time
- 13:43that I ever filed papers. And then I felt really, really
- 13:46bad. I felt ashamed.
- 13:47And then when I came up to you, he saw me and he said, did you
- 13:52put your best? I said yeah, I tried.
- 13:54And he he said go you're seeing go and see.
- 13:57No more. Try again are you?
- 14:03Get it right this time. And then you know it just felt
- 14:07like, ohh, I disappointed myself and disappointed you.
- 14:10But then the way you took it was like, OK, don't be ashamed to
- 14:14feel right, but then never give up on yourself.
- 14:19And then the next time, we all know how the story went right.
- 14:21I think the the the very least score I had was like 72.
- 14:24I had 80 something. So just something.
- 14:27So really, when you look at people that are upcoming.
- 14:32A lot of times they face like challenges and life.
- 14:35Some of them might not be like financial challenges.
- 14:37We like fill in different ways in our lives, right?
- 14:40But then very importantly, it is essential not to use self
- 14:45belief. Because when you do self belief
- 14:48right, the essence of life is hope and faith.
- 14:51Basically when you lose yourself believe, it's like you've lost
- 14:54everything. Actually, I'd like for young up
- 14:58and coming people out there to learn, you know, a couple of
- 15:02things from your story and of course even.
- 15:04My own story as well with you. Like, you know, it is essential.
- 15:08That they do not lose their self, their self belief and
- 15:13which whatever they are going through in life you can always
- 15:17become somebody if you if you try so.
- 15:21Thank you very. Much for sharing the story of
- 15:24your childhood with us. So with that, you know been said
- 15:27like who? Who were your early life
- 15:28influences? Who were those people who were
- 15:31like early mentors and early probably does to you?
- 15:35OK. Thank you for that.
- 15:37Even during that trip period, I have somebody that is my
- 15:43influencer I call Alhaji Usman. Alhaji Ajetunmobi is a retired
- 15:51principal, mostly secondary school Shagam Open states.
- 15:57Uh is a husband to my sister. I lived with his Shagamu states
- 16:04what I love in him. That influenced me a lot.
- 16:08He never angry with anyone. It never angry with anyone.
- 16:13Even when the situation warrants him to be mad, he keep calm,
- 16:20maintain his calmness. Such is what I'm relate from him
- 16:24#1 #2. He doesn't use abusive language.
- 16:29The language you use when it's angry or even never angry, but
- 16:33when you just want to abuse someone, say Abu Mugi.
- 16:36Abu Mugi means do you drink pap for you to be missed in this way
- 16:41so you can see that it's a slight or light abuse.
- 16:45Apple Mugi Abu Musica do you smoke cigarettes or do you drink
- 16:49pap? That means it will be.
- 16:51That's the. Sophie's abuse, So.
- 16:54I'm like that and it's always happy.
- 16:57I visited him during this holiday.
- 16:59He's 70 years old now and he's still looking radiant, young and
- 17:04agile, so I emulate him a lot. I look up to him and also when
- 17:13we are growing up to the blessed memory moshood Kashimawo at
- 17:19Viola as a Chartered accountant, I always dream about to become
- 17:25become a Chartered accountant. That time you know it's from
- 17:28Mughal state, my state. So I look up to him and is an
- 17:35accountant, a chartered accountant, also a politician
- 17:38And you look at, you know, in me I have both as a chartered
- 17:43accountant and also a little bit political.
- 17:47It's just that Nigeria politics were wary of it, if not with
- 17:53fully. But when today I'm the Vice
- 17:57Chairman of Icon in Abuja FCT and by June 1st this year I've
- 18:04become the chairman of Abuja Icon.
- 18:06So politically. Congratulations on that.
- 18:11Thank you very much. So these are the two people that
- 18:16I look up to and they are my influencer.
- 18:20OK, so why? Why, growing up, was it always
- 18:24your dream to become a chartered accountant?
- 18:26Or like, did you, like, have other dreams and aspirations?
- 18:29During your childhood. Thank you very much.
- 18:33I dream to become a chartered accountant.
- 18:37Or a lawyer? Law is a force.
- 18:40To become a lawyer is a first thing.
- 18:42But because of we are life of Moshood Kashimawo Olawale,
- 18:47Abiola, I'm now moving away from that to become a chartered
- 18:53accountant. And also, you know, I told you
- 18:56when you are, when you when you jam gives you admission, but you
- 19:00can pursue it to the latter then I'm unable to go for that long.
- 19:05But the second that is to become a chartered accountant, to
- 19:09become an accountant. I got admission to a federal
- 19:13Polytechnic offer to study accounting.
- 19:15So the two are what I intend to do, and I still believe that
- 19:21with age in my side, I've got my side.
- 19:23I can see for sure my LD if I so desire.
- 19:28Well that actually is the lead up to my next question, right?
- 19:32That is you know talk us through your academic background because
- 19:35you are a man of numerous qualifications.
- 19:38I know probably all your LinkedIn, right.
- 19:41You are probably out of space for all of the qualifications
- 19:44that you have like. But then how did it all start?
- 19:50You You go here. Thank you very much.
- 19:55As I've said, I intend to become a lawyer or a chartered
- 20:00accountant due to the influence or what I grew up to as a
- 20:08motivator from the late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola and I got my
- 20:15admission into Federal Polytechnic Offa.
- 20:20In 1992 and I got my English with upper credits.
- 20:32I also got my ancient D in 2000. Ohh is 1998.
- 20:41Yes 1998. Sorry, I got my HND in 2004 with
- 20:49upper credits. I suppose you came out.
- 20:52I supposed to come out with decision, but you know the
- 20:58lecturer. Then when they do not have
- 21:01decision and you want to become the first person to have the
- 21:04decision, they will say no. In Nigeria it works.
- 21:07No you can't get that decision. We came out with a lower credit
- 21:12offer credit, therefore my GP was 3.57 and 3.47 and 3.50 is
- 21:21his decision level. So deliberately was called down
- 21:26to 3.47, so that's not a problem.
- 21:30It's it's making sure. How did you feel about that at
- 21:33at that point in time? Thank you.
- 21:35Thank you very much. I have felt bad because when I
- 21:39was in school, I led the school academically and politically.
- 21:42Yeah. And during that time, everybody
- 21:45expects me to her decision. So.
- 21:47I was not feeling. I was feeling bad in.
- 21:50Fact, but not knowing that it's a blessing these guys.
- 21:54As soon as I came out with the decision I will be going to bank
- 21:58to go and walk and other things the moment I have.
- 22:01That's I. Said I'm going for another
- 22:03degree. I can't accept this as my
- 22:06degree, so I need to pursue my BC.
- 22:12As a result I enrol for BSc programme at University of Benin
- 22:19and you know I told you I sponsor my education at a point
- 22:24I could not complete that. But because I see how the dream
- 22:27to have my BC, I have BS in Economics and also shallow BSc
- 22:36in Accounting and Finance from the University of Derby.
- 22:40In. UK over there.
- 22:42I also have my master in finance and in Accounting and Finance
- 22:49from the University of Northampton with merits.
- 22:55Uh during this this period I look for CES 2008 UH.
- 23:05I finish my CPA. I got qualified in 2000 and
- 23:1012/20/12. At the same time I got qualified
- 23:15with ICON. I got my CD Fours before I can
- 23:20become Associate Chartered Accountant with ICON and 20 2013
- 23:282013 I hello for Certified Fraud Examiner and I was you know
- 23:36about one in that diet I think I see have my my my my my result
- 23:43yeah I'm the number one and because of my score we you need
- 23:48to pass four people pass with 75 and above and saw my score
- 23:53939596 Investigation, Fraud examination, accounting and
- 24:03examination is focuses and I score very high to the extent
- 24:08that my name is #1 the lease. When the qualified candidate was
- 24:12released, I was also adopted as Certified Fraud Examiner.
- 24:17Uh, Fast forward in 2018. I become a Fellow of Icon in
- 24:292018. I become a fellow of Icon and in
- 24:3620 2020 no same 2018 and become a fellow of AC.
- 24:49In 2020 I become a fellow of Chartered a soft transition of
- 24:56Nigeria. And also, I'm a Financial
- 24:59Reporting council member. I can sign up with financial
- 25:05statements and many other qualification short courses that
- 25:13time will not permit us to to be mentioning.
- 25:17Especially when you work in angio space you need to be doing
- 25:21those courses. So all this is what I do to
- 25:26become what I become in life and I thank God for His mercy and
- 25:36also for his love over myself and my family.
- 25:46Despite having this knowledge, I decided to transfer this
- 25:53knowledge to other people coming up.
- 25:58Uh, as I've said. You.
- 26:02Are part of my products and I have many more that are
- 26:08lecturers like me. Are produced nothing less than
- 26:1210 lecturers and also produce more than 3000 Chartered
- 26:18Accountants on my credits in my school that was Co funded by my
- 26:26professional colleagues likes of Chimerica is Aribe the chairman
- 26:33of Top Notch learning Centre in likes of Uchi your 4.
- 26:40The Ponya CEO of Top Notch, now Director of Finance in likes of
- 26:50being a Ajayi. The CEO of Top Notch.
- 26:56He likes. So was sadly.
- 26:59Berman, e-mail Daniel the director of strategy.
- 27:10In in terms in like in the likes of lads at the other day with me
- 27:18with a pleasant memory, we decide that we decided that we
- 27:25should transfer this knowledge and ensure we bring the best out
- 27:32of the people that want to become a chartered accountant.
- 27:37During the time of our intervention, it was the time
- 27:40corporate reporting was introduced.
- 27:43It was the time strategic financial management was
- 27:47introduced and is giving students a mirage.
- 27:52We look at it that we have that capacity to to to to to to
- 27:58demystify those courses. That is the reason why we are
- 28:04not having a lot of Chartered Accountants.
- 28:08You know, for the Internet or what?
- 28:10Of course 2013, right? The.
- 28:15Qualification you were doing in 2013, I think after a C you did.
- 28:19Yeah, yeah, I now become a certified for Examiner.
- 28:25OK, 2013, right? Yes, in 2013.
- 28:30In 2018 I become a fellow of instead of Chartered Accountants
- 28:37of Nigeria. In 2020 I become fellow into
- 28:43same 2018 fellow of EC. 2020 Fellow of CITN?
- 28:53No. It's 2020 Fellow of C2021,
- 28:56Fellow of CITN, and a lot of short courses like A the.

- 29:18ending book and ebook Business School from Airwatch University.
- 29:23Yes, I have a strategic planning certificates and many others
- 29:29short course certificate. Especially when you work in an
- 29:33NGO space, I would not stop. Will continue to learn
- 29:38everything and. To put the icing on the cake.
- 29:442013 just last year I was awarded Dr of Philosophy in
- 29:50Accounting from Lincoln University College, Malaysia.
- 29:57Wow, that's that that that is that is a very, very big deal.
- 30:01And that is a lot. But there are have you lost
- 30:04count of the number of degrees and certifications that you
- 30:08have? Thank you very much.
- 30:12Ohh. You will agree with.
- 30:15Me that I I lost Charlie briefly because I was unable to mention
- 30:21the short courses that are attended in various university
- 30:26and the one attended with USAID, CDC and many organisations where
- 30:33you work in Angel space. So the only one I can remember
- 30:38vividly is those that has to do with the one I've mentioned so
- 30:42far. So if you have estimated number
- 30:46like how how many do you think they would be?
- 30:48Ohh. Qualifications are the one I can
- 30:54lay my hand on and remember Now they will be like 20 but we
- 30:59still have more of that. Actually bad, but they are short
- 31:05courses certificates. OK, OK.
- 31:07For the short courses, if you're estimated number, what would
- 31:10that be? That would be like 28 or if not
- 31:1530. Wow.
- 31:17Wow. So it means that you have like
- 31:19more than 50. Yes.
- 31:23Satisfactory. That's.
- 31:24I love. I love learning.
- 31:27It's part of me. Infants.
- 31:29You. You you know the way I do, I can
- 31:31still come to you and learn. The moment I know that you have
- 31:34some knowledge in some area, I always come down to learn.
- 31:42Even when it's my son or daughter, I always like
- 31:45learning. You can't claim monopoly of
- 31:50knowledge, but. That you know that they have
- 31:54that knowledge and learn everything.
- 31:56I think we're all brilliant thing which you know, having
- 31:59more knowledge is the more you learn, the more you discover
- 32:01that you don't know. Yeah.
- 32:04Because yeah, the more. You know the more you get to
- 32:06know that you don't really know. So I love, but I think our
- 32:09creative certificate course or podcasting so that he.
- 32:15I really thought students. What?
- 32:19What is student? Because the teacher?
- 32:22Yes, so. It's our pride in my school,
- 32:25Federal Polytechnic Offa. When I Rs just came in, they.
- 32:30Invited me. They didn't say because I
- 32:32graduated. Yeah, they all sat down and I
- 32:36took them. I found this one too if others
- 32:391615 then and I swam to IS41I lectured them and they were very
- 32:47happy. They gave me a recommendation
- 32:48letter not say because they are my lecturers but they know that
- 32:53I have the new invoke knowledge that is currently raining.
- 32:57So. The.
- 32:58Moment you have any any certificate courses, I will be
- 33:04glad to a rule. I know that my own money will be
- 33:07cheaper compared to outsider because we are your lecturer
- 33:11reader this. Yeah, interesting, right.
- 33:15So I think a lot of the people that are going to be watching
- 33:17this. Would not even have an idea of
- 33:19what IFRS is. So let's try to, like, simplify
- 33:23it, right. So IFRS is International
- 33:25Financial Reporting Standards, right?
- 33:27And you know it's in the world of accounting.
- 33:31IFRS I think came in like the late twenty 10s there are about.
- 33:372010, yes, you're right. But then previously we were
- 33:42using the, the gap science, yes. Yeah, the, the respective gaps.
- 33:47And the gaps are generally accepted accounting principles,
- 33:52right? So basically they like the
- 33:55accounting. Frameworks for accountants in
- 33:58different countries, right? So.
- 34:00Just to give. People context now.
- 34:04These. People that change, you actually
- 34:06used the previous gaps, which is the framework that we reasoned
- 34:11previously. However, with the world's
- 34:14transitioning into a global village right, they needed
- 34:19something more unified to in in order to have simple.
- 34:28Ohh how, how how how how do I put this?
- 34:30Now you know the. Simple fact that and the
- 34:32convergence of a standard. That will be used across the
- 34:37globe. Right, so.
- 34:39Like how? How did he feel for you?
- 34:42Right. Being one of the early experts
- 34:47in the field of, you know, IFRS and like, what would you say I
- 34:53first did for your career? Because I know that it really
- 34:56protected you into the world. I made you like very, very
- 34:59relevant in the world of accounting.
- 35:02So like what would you say? I would like like what?
- 35:05Importance would you put you. Know on the early adoption of
- 35:09IFRS for yourself right in your relevance globally in the
- 35:15accounting profession and of course like what would you say
- 35:17indeed for your career as a as a as a person.
- 35:22Thank you very much. This is a good question and I
- 35:26want to let you know that International Financial
- 35:29Reporting standard brought me into limelight as you have
- 35:35actually added to that and I want to let you know that we
- 35:42have financial accounting standard Board of US, we have
- 35:49International accounting standard Board of UKISB
- 35:54residence. It's the CA studies are assisted
- 36:02me a lot. I looked for AC the moment I
- 36:05finished my first degree in in accounting as efficient under.
- 36:16You know there are some dichotomies between BC and and
- 36:22during that period I decided to get my BSc also study AC.
- 36:28So during the time of studying etc etc already.
- 36:34Use IIS. We don't.
- 36:37Use the gap in Nigeria to study etc.
- 36:43When? I was doing the icon is when we
- 36:45are using Nigeria, got bought for Inc We use IAS International
- 36:50Accounting Standard Board. You know it's because of the
- 36:53global convergence where ISB and the Financial Accounting
- 37:00Standards Board, five of us and other global body decided that
- 37:05we must have a convergence in order to enhance international
- 37:09cross-border trading. So that an investor can read a
- 37:14financial statement of US, a financial statement of Canada or
- 37:18Japan in the same language. That is the reason why this
- 37:24world not decided. The individual country decide to
- 37:29adopts IFRS. So before Nigeria adopted higher
- 37:35fares and started studying highs and IFR races.
- 37:40Remember his IAS? That's UK is using International
- 37:47Accounting Standard. Vote.
- 37:50Yes, I is international accounting standard but emulated
- 37:57or or or propagated and established by ISB.
- 38:02But because there is difference between principle based
- 38:06accounting and rule based accounting, Rubens accounting,
- 38:11you follow the rules principle based accounting.
- 38:15The standard emphasise that you must do what will enhance fear
- 38:21presentation. So that fear presentation cop
- 38:25any fraudulent director that want to perpetrate fraud using
- 38:30financial jargons or accounting engineering he we arrest them.
- 38:35That standard we arrested because they feared presentation
- 38:39says If this standard will give to you will not give you fair
- 38:45presentation. Adopt that fear presentation to
- 38:48present and make additional notes to the account so that we
- 38:53understand the basis of you using that approach you want to
- 38:56use. So if a director want to
- 38:59perpetrate for saying this standard say I should do this
- 39:02because standard say I should do this and there is a gap in in
- 39:05that standard maybe there is a lacuna.
- 39:07The standard of already provide a solution by saying a fair
- 39:11presentation even when the standard have a gap and you know
- 39:14that what you want to present when enhanced representation do
- 39:18that. But in Rupees you will agree
- 39:21with me that we have some saga Financial scandal, the
- 39:27parliaments and theworld.com saga.
- 39:30All those use rubies. And if you agree with me before,
- 39:37I too eventually can be measured at lower of cost or net
- 39:44realisable value or but now we've changed it to lower of
- 39:50course and net realised value some of what I'm submitting to
- 39:54you. Is that the?
- 39:58Highest. Was study during the ACA.
- 40:06This and the moment Nigeria adopted IFRS.
- 40:13It is straight or easy ride for me to key in.
- 40:19And we are the first foremost people in Nigeria that left
- 40:25child High Ferris among other people.
- 40:30Yeah, OK. They'll probably I think we got
- 40:32just proceed to talking about your professional.
- 40:39And business card value also worked with them.
- 40:42You have added value to a lot number of organisations.
- 40:46So can you like talk us through the organisations you've worked
- 40:50with, you know, right from like qualifying and you know the
- 40:53businesses you've also been involved in?
- 40:56OK. Thank you very much.
- 41:00The I was I served in Abia states in 2004.
- 41:06I worked with ABI pension board where I contributed my quota.
- 41:12Understanding those people that their pension is you and those
- 41:18who are genuinely see alive and those who are not alive.
- 41:21I was able to bring out the record and the ministry was very
- 41:25happy with my service. Immediately after service I work
- 41:29for Ali Hawa, those Russian company.
- 41:32As an engineering company I work like a year.
- 41:37Some months before I join an audit firm, the Major Lazer
- 41:41Bosanko, I join us Audit assistant.
- 41:45I rose to the position of Audit Manager.
- 41:49Currently, even when I've left the organisation, I'm a partner
- 41:54in that audit firm because of my the media circle.
- 42:01After the media articles were cool.
- 42:03I work with catering service as finance specialists handling
- 42:10Gabby leader Miller Gate and leader Gator Project.
- 42:16On the Gate projects call SSS Sustainable System of Cassava.
- 42:25The projects was implemented. You know your states also being
- 42:29with states to grow cassava in order for Nigeria to have a
- 42:34border Food Gate Foundation supported that project and the
- 42:38financial specialists for that project.
- 42:41I worked with cutting the service on that project and also
- 42:48global from projects and also small projects with USAID, I
- 42:54left casually release service to a public sector organisation
- 43:02called Abuja Technology Village. Abuja Technology Village.
- 43:10When I joined, I showed their financial statements.
- 43:15Then the account is not robust the way I want it.
- 43:20This is your public sector, yes, yes, but then how do you feel
- 43:26moving from private sector to public sector like?
- 43:29Thank you. I love it.
- 43:31I don't want to say too much, but then I don't want public
- 43:34sector. That is like let me just see
- 43:36like a lot of inefficiencies that how did you help them?
- 43:42Surprisingly. Surprisingly, I I left the
- 43:49public space because it is that is going on over there.
- 43:54I will share my experience. With that coming.
- 43:57While working in an NGO. You.
- 44:00Know the amount given to me is sufficient but I received a pay
- 44:07increase from Abuja Technology village a TV so I was attracted
- 44:13with that amount. Getting their their account is
- 44:17not a robust as I want. I ensure that I put the account
- 44:20up to date, but funny things that is going on, there is a in
- 44:25public sector, the Auditor General will come, the public
- 44:30account committee you need to go and even many things like that.
- 44:35That is not the problem, but you know the issue.
- 44:42I cannot contend with that. In fact there was experience
- 44:45because it's a public organisation.
- 44:48We have account with CB. We have accounts with CB and in
- 44:53the past before I joined the hardly reconcile that account in
- 44:57CBM. But I said no I I was.
- 45:02I was employed as finance and account lead.
- 45:05I'm the number one person finance there.
- 45:08I have a colleague of yours. Oladipupo laddish.
- 45:14Ohh wow. Together.
- 45:16He's my staff there in a TV, so. All at the football we work
- 45:23together and ask him please go and get me the bank statement,
- 45:28let's reconcile. From CBA.
- 45:31The bank statement was brought before us.
- 45:33We started our reconciliation. We.
- 45:35Just noticed that there are millions of naira catered away
- 45:40from the bank statements. Immediately, I went to the
- 45:45managing director. Mrs Away, a Bunny and I told her
- 45:51ma. There are some money that moved
- 45:54out of this account. I'm not aware of it.
- 45:58And what happened. She was shocked as well.
- 46:01She's not aware of it as well. And you know me as an external
- 46:08auditor with audit experience. I need to dig further.
- 46:12And immediately, said Examiner. Immediately I go to the CBN.
- 46:20I told them I want to see the mandate that brought that money
- 46:23out. I got a copy.
- 46:26I go to the police station, report the matter because the
- 46:31copy of what I got. I saw a signature of a signatory
- 46:36to the accounts. The managing director was a
- 46:39signatory to the account. Mike wish Let me just spend the
- 46:45second name because we have many Mic.
- 46:48Mr Mike. To the account and.
- 46:53Like. Surprisingly, if forge the
- 46:58signature of the MD, use his own signature and also forge my
- 47:05handwriting. You know I'm not a secretary,
- 47:08but I'll be the one to prepare the mandate just for the MD and
- 47:13himself to sign. So he followed my handwriting.
- 47:18It is so. Signature.
- 47:19And these things came through at the CBN we are talking about
- 47:24almost 68,000,000 then I think in 2015.
- 47:31Hmm. So what I did immediately, I
- 47:36talked to the If police want to work, they will work for you
- 47:39diligently. They.
- 47:41Track his number, we are able to track him to where he is.
- 47:44They picked him up but surprising thing that I want to
- 47:47bring on bodies at a A an internal auditor of the
- 47:53organisation now went to the police station where they said
- 47:57they should lock me up to. I was I was married.
- 48:00I said is it not me that brought this to use people attention.
- 48:05Have you been reconciling your statement before What my
- 48:08intervention has finance and account lead made us to be
- 48:12reconciled this account and you are.
- 48:14So if I'm part of it I would not expose this.
- 48:17I told the police. Even the police people are
- 48:19saying is your signal, your handwriting is 1, the user said.
- 48:23My writing was forged. So are you saying I collided
- 48:27with the corporates? That should not happen that the
- 48:32moment you decide that you will lock me up in the police station
- 48:36I will escalate this to the extent that the presidency and
- 48:39the the people that are in Nigeria we hear about this
- 48:42because I saw, I saw the flood and and and escalated the fraud.
- 48:49So at the end of the day the police now said they should
- 48:52allow me to go. So the moment they are able to
- 48:56get hold of the corporates and in Spain back gradually, I
- 49:00resign for that public space and go back to my NU.
- 49:05A lot of integrity issues, right?
- 49:08Because you know, in our professional integrity is one of
- 49:12the core values of of our profession, right?
- 49:15Professional behaviour, competence.
- 49:18Do you care? It is really difficult working
- 49:23in those kind of terrains. Wherein you know.
- 49:25That objectivity and integrity is likely to be impaired, but
- 49:29you know, big kudos to you for for the great work that you have
- 49:33been able to contribute, you know, in the difficult terrain
- 49:36of the Nigerian public public sector.
- 49:40But then, like, how did you get into?
- 49:43Lecturing. Thank you very much.
- 49:48Side by side. Thank you.
- 49:52I used to tell people that if. You want to make money.
- 49:57You can't rely on one particular job.
- 50:01Having just one salary is not sufficient for you to make
- 50:05money. And I think that is what you to
- 50:08invite in you that makes you to be who you are today, you.
- 50:14Can hear one. One salary and make it.
- 50:17He can only take care of necessity and what you need
- 50:20around you. So I works currently as a
- 50:24Director of Finance and Admin at health system.
- 50:28Consults health system consult is 1.
- 50:31Implementing the grants history in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi with
- 50:38head office in Abuja. I also lectured with top notch
- 50:42learning centre and Director of study.
- 50:46I also have a consulting firm wish myself and my partner we
- 50:53are. They are consulting for clients
- 50:58that need our financial experts office at Maitama Theme Park
- 51:04Consulting. Now to your question, how do I
- 51:07start lecturing is a passion that I developed when I was in
- 51:14school. As I've said, God gave me some
- 51:18intellectual capability, to the extent that I used to understand
- 51:23whatever my lecturer. Just a glimpse of it.
- 51:28I will be able to develop more on it.
- 51:30So while in school we have a particular party.
- 51:36That used to produce the president for the departments
- 51:41and the the the school called mandates and I look at it that
- 51:45how can we take them off the seats.
- 51:50What I did before then I've started lecturing, teaching
- 51:54one-on-one with my colleagues, my friends, that doesn't
- 51:57understand what we learned in the class.
- 52:00But I now decided let me make it a full scale and use that to
- 52:05entice people. So I started lecturing and the
- 52:10one student in accounting insurance.
- 52:13So they, they, they, they, they, they, they they enjoyed the
- 52:17lecture. They were not well, in fact
- 52:20those courses that are giving them problem in the school I
- 52:24lecture them, they do well in the exam and they pass the exam
- 52:27with ease without getting into problem with the lecturers.
- 52:31So as a result that have increased my lecturing capacity
- 52:35and skill. So some of my lecturer also now
- 52:40observe that they asked me to assist them to lecture the
- 52:44junior class. You know, it happens in
- 52:46university. Where?
- 52:48You just become like unnamed assistant.
- 52:54Without the. Salary.
- 52:57God bless you. So you just do that.
- 53:00And not knowing that I'm increasing my capacity,
- 53:04preparing myself now, getting to serve I.
- 53:09Was working in the at the pension board as I've said
- 53:13earlier. But because of my passion for
- 53:17lecturing, I also look for a secondary school all.
- 53:22About the These Queens of Apostle Umbrella in Abia states
- 53:26in this sequel to Local Government and Lecture
- 53:29Accounting and Lecture Mathematics and also Economists,
- 53:35she likes to lecture or teach. OK, either of the two.
- 53:38Because in secondary school is teaching, so I thought they were
- 53:42discourses. It boosts my lecturing capacity
- 53:46as well. The moment we now finish service
- 53:51immediately I wrote for my AC. So during the course of
- 53:56receiving lecture, I also lecture some of my friend to the
- 54:00extent that we will not finish the AC.
- 54:04I started my lecturing with Pratima in Lagos, then that was
- 54:11employed when I came to Abuja. I continued my lecturing with
- 54:15Grating and the final quest. Finacle is also an AC lecturing
- 54:21centre, so sometimes we not decide that we will have our own
- 54:26and then we inform the MDC or brought him that in a dire time
- 54:32we'll be moving to have our own tuition centre.
- 54:36Myself, Mr Chimuka is a rebel FC, FC, UH and many other
- 54:43qualification because of time and also Mr which your four FC,
- 54:48Mr Ginger Jiji FC and OSAS you bless him us and blessed memory.
- 54:59It's a deal with me. I, building Desmond would have
- 55:03decided to form top notch learning centre which I was the
- 55:07pioneer director of study. Until now I'm the director of
- 55:11study. I've asked them to give me
- 55:12another rule, but they said I should stay.
- 55:16I for sure will. So we now started lecturing.
- 55:21People get qualified even. With the courses that give
- 55:27students. Mirage FM and corporate
- 55:30reporting, we are able to demystify it and people pass as
- 55:34if there's no tomorrow. So from there, we believe that
- 55:38times will not be like this forever, will not decide to
- 55:41bring ones and. Tutor them, Mentor them.
- 55:44How to become electoral yourself.
- 55:47Joshua. Early days.
- 55:51We have UH Gabriel, which saw and Lasisi Sunday Feliz among
- 56:00others that have become. Chartered accountant and a
- 56:04renowned lecturers now. So that's sorry.
- 56:07Sorry to interrupt you. You know, like that that that's,
- 56:10you know, phase of my life, that part of my life is something I
- 56:13always appreciate so much and you know putting you on the spot
- 56:17telling you right now I'm very, very big on gratitude, right.
- 56:21I would like to say, you know thank you very much for that
- 56:24opportunity, right. Because.
- 56:25For. Me.
- 56:26It gave me the opportunity to be able to express myself, to be
- 56:29able to utilise my gift, to write my talent.
- 56:32You know of communication, right?
- 56:34Because for me communication has always been my thing.
- 56:37But then I was now opportunity to be a finance professional.
- 56:40So putting it together, it's helped me.
- 56:43He gave me a platform to be able to utilise my gift, my talent,
- 56:48right And that is the reason why I have still not left the the
- 56:52what's our group? Because I.
- 56:55Was part of the. Family, regardless of whether I
- 56:57have still. Yeah, that's right.
- 57:01So really, being a teacher is something that.
- 57:04I I very, very much appreciate as a person and interestingly.
- 57:08You know, when I came to the UK, the very first time I attended
- 57:11church in the UK, I saw somebody who told me, ohh, I know you,
- 57:15you taught me Nigeria. I was like, wow, the keypad that
- 57:22you have. You know, as a as a teacher is
- 57:24something that is very, very phenomenal.
- 57:27It's phenomenal how you you change people's lives just by
- 57:31impacting knowledge in them. So I am very grateful once more.
- 57:36Sorry for the. Almost welcome.
- 57:40You are, you are, you are. You are testing that this what
- 57:45I'm saying is factual because you are a living testimony and
- 57:49many others and when you are electoral you are very happy.
- 57:53You may be in a mall, somebody will pay for you.
- 57:56You may be many places aside from payment you have a self
- 58:00fulfilment life. You live a self fulfilled life.
- 58:03In fact, talking like you have said, as a communication expert,
- 58:07now you you find it easy, it's flow easily, you that will stand
- 58:12in a class to lecture for 10 hours.
- 58:14So is it this communication of anything that you do for one
- 58:17hour or two hours that will be a problem?
- 58:19No, it comes, it flow naturally. You hardly get tired because you
- 58:25connect your nose when to talk, the diction, when to stop, when
- 58:30not to talk, when to listen and when to react.
- 58:34So I'm happy that you are one of us and you are still one of us.
- 58:39That is the reason why you are UK today.
- 58:43That's the reason why you see on the WhatsApp lecturing platform
- 58:47of corporate reporting, financial reporting and
- 58:49financial accounting team and we are proud having you as one of
- 58:55us. Thank.
- 58:55You very much. I'm happy, yes.
- 58:58When? When, when?
- 58:59When your mentees, you are a mentor to other people now, so
- 59:05you have moved from the level of mentee to mentor.
- 59:10So it's just that we would not be bad mentor.
- 59:15By the. That's what the lighter note So
- 59:19that's how the electorate or teaching career has been is from
- 59:24the. Do the best Polytechnic this to
- 59:28this present moment. Wow.
- 59:30Interesting. So what?
- 59:31Like, what would you say have been the highs and lows?
- 59:33Of your of your career so far? OK, when it comes to the
- 59:38challenge, yes I will. I will.
- 59:41It's too, you know, as a lecturer and professional
- 59:45practise. Let me start with lecturing the
- 59:47highs at. We had induction of starting
- 59:54with 67 Chartered Accountant. We move to 87 Chartered
- 59:58Accountant, we moved to 101 Chartered accountant each diet
- 1:00:03we keep increasing and the last diet we have 101 Chartered
- 1:00:08accountant making it the 12th induction ceremony, ambassador
- 1:00:12induction ceremony where we have nothing less than.
- 1:00:17It's council members. Hmm.
- 1:00:22Guessing that occasion 8 council members is the highest ever.
- 1:00:28In. Fact the second deputy Vice
- 1:00:30President of ICA Imposing of AJA sufferer to Segue Simia MNI FC
- 1:00:37and all the treasurer of the great Institute of Chartered
- 1:00:40Accountants of Nigeria and many other council members were
- 1:00:44present at that induction. I think it has never happened
- 1:00:49like that in any tuition centre in Nigeria and it was televised
- 1:00:53by TV. To hold head this I think that
- 1:00:58alone we are happy and also our produce.
- 1:01:03A Senator our produce and as of Right member and have also
- 1:01:08produced a Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue.
- 1:01:11So. I.
- 1:01:13Think. For the lecturing career, where?
- 1:01:15Where? We are happy.
- 1:01:17We are gonna place us and we are hope that's where singling
- 1:01:21places that's the down aspect of it is where I have you know.
- 1:01:30Human beings are different when I have one of my mentee, you
- 1:01:35know, in Joshua. You naked, That's your youth.
- 1:01:38We have UJ. We have J great guys.
- 1:01:45You girl. I brought him to an.
- 1:01:48Organisation. Where I work in an EU, doesn't
- 1:01:53have. Experience of equal.
- 1:01:55Packaging got a good job. Something happened in the
- 1:01:58organisation. E Because he's a lecturer in Top
- 1:02:05Notch and he played a significant role because
- 1:02:11something happened in the organisation, he now he told me
- 1:02:14that he cannot lecture in Top Notch again I.
- 1:02:20Felt bad because there was a gap, but you know me as a
- 1:02:24person. Immediately, I called the
- 1:02:27Gabriel. Wisher said.
- 1:02:29This is a guy I know you can do it, and you have to do spirit.
- 1:02:33Fill the gap and let no student feel that there is a gap and
- 1:02:38with. Almighty God he was.
- 1:02:42Able to fill that gap and that same time is when you are going
- 1:02:46for good, you are going to UK that time.
- 1:02:49So I have. That big?
- 1:02:51Gap. But.
- 1:02:53With God almighty, Gabriel rose to that occasion.
- 1:02:57So that is the aspect of it when Gabriel for for for
- 1:03:08professional. Yes, I told you about Abuja
- 1:03:14Technology village. There is another one that
- 1:03:17happens. At the Ty Danjuma.
- 1:03:23There is some financial misappropriation that I I
- 1:03:29quickly raise alarm off but the board could not look at it
- 1:03:35because they thought I am giving wrong information.
- 1:03:39But it's not up to two months that I left.
- 1:03:42They need to sack the. CU and say, oh what I've said,
- 1:03:45I've actually had their writing, but they failed to listen to me
- 1:03:50as at that time. But when that did it, they were
- 1:03:53able to see that yes this is a fraudulent activities but they
- 1:03:59can't come back to come and say oh we are sorry this is what you
- 1:04:03are actually saying. We are able to get to the root
- 1:04:06of the matter. So that is in the professional
- 1:04:09practise, you know, accounting job.
- 1:04:11To be director of finance or finance manager you need to be
- 1:04:15very very careful even when you didn't want to.
- 1:04:20Even when you didn't want to perpetrate fraud, you will ask
- 1:04:24somebody below you or above you that perpetrator and you cannot
- 1:04:28exonerate yourself. You need to be very very careful
- 1:04:31if fraud is perpetrated the first person organisation they
- 1:04:35will pick up easy finance is the finance manager or director of
- 1:04:38finance at the case. May be before they would
- 1:04:41investigate that you are not part of that fraudulent
- 1:04:45transaction. Thanks, will have gone so.
- 1:04:48Always. Safeguard yourself and ensure
- 1:04:50that this job you are doing as a Director of Finance is a
- 1:04:53delicate job. You need to deploy professional
- 1:04:56competency as and UK as our ethics demand so So what would?
- 1:05:02You say have been the. Highest.
- 1:05:04You've actually talked about the loss.
- 1:05:06Yeah, the eyes is. I was a.
- 1:05:11I. Rose to the point of become a
- 1:05:14director of finance and admin on the USAID funded project and
- 1:05:18also a director of. Audits in the CDC funded
- 1:05:24projects The head of audit CDC funded projects.
- 1:05:29The Head of finance in USAI. D.
- 1:05:31Project And these are the two big funder in the whole NGO
- 1:05:35space. So that has been there for me.
- 1:05:39Umm, so, So what? What great things?
- 1:05:41Would you say you're most? Proud of, you know in life
- 1:05:44generally. Like what are those things?
- 1:05:46What happened? The greatest I would've.
- 1:05:48Said I'm proud of is you and. Many others.
- 1:05:53Have made to become a lecturer and can speak anywhere, any day,
- 1:05:59anytime. I.
- 1:06:03Feel honoured. I feel honoured.
- 1:06:05I feel honoured to, to be honest, right.
- 1:06:07But then, like, how's the journey being, you know,
- 1:06:09balancing, you know, career and family?
- 1:06:12Like has it been work? Like my life like.
- 1:06:17How do you achieve? I think, I think I.
- 1:06:20Have a little gap there, I will be sincere.
- 1:06:23With you, I have a little gap. I bought.
- 1:06:26I've told myself in 2025 I will correct all the gap.
- 1:06:31I think I married somebody. I will call my sister, my junior
- 1:06:35brother, my junior sister, my mommy, because she understands I
- 1:06:42was unable to balance the home. I must be factual but when it
- 1:06:47comes to work, I did my work diligently lecturing give my
- 1:06:51best. But when it comes to the home,
- 1:06:53my wife understands. I live.
- 1:06:55I live home several am. Sometimes I come back home 9 PM,
- 1:07:0110:00 PM. The children will have slept.
- 1:07:04She took care of the home front, but the weekend that I supposed
- 1:07:08to be with them as well Several AM 8.
- 1:07:12I'm here at the lecture ground to lecture students of recent
- 1:07:17because I've. Developed some lecturers, so I
- 1:07:22now I spent two hours on Saudi Sunday.
- 1:07:26You know we. Stand lecture by 12:00 so I will
- 1:07:29have some three hours four hours to bond.
- 1:07:32With the children, but to me I know it's not sufficient and my
- 1:07:36wife know that it's not deliberate.
- 1:07:38So in 2025, since I have many lecturers now in my foods, I
- 1:07:44cannot have time just to get there and put my blessing.
- 1:07:48Whatever they are doing and dot the eyes are crossed the tea.
- 1:07:53So I will, I will, I will not like to you, I've not been
- 1:07:57balancing the home front. Most of my time is for the
- 1:08:01lecturing and for the official work.
- 1:08:03But this holiday I promised. Them and I fulfil my promise.
- 1:08:08They spent two weeks with me. We bonded together.
- 1:08:12Play what actually you do. Play sneaker ladder.
- 1:08:16Play Scrabble together for two weeks I took.
- 1:08:19Them to my hometown. In a charade, your promotion and
- 1:08:23we went to our people, went to many places.
- 1:08:26I bonded with them for two weeks.
- 1:08:27We just returned back from our trip, so IN2025I.
- 1:08:31Said. I will see him.
- 1:08:33Prove that and give more attention to family, less
- 1:08:36attention to lecture and work. We are not getting younger, we
- 1:08:40are getting older the. Deputy and he it's, I think
- 1:08:46maybe just to make you happy in some ways right.
- 1:08:49And the fact that your sacrifice, you know, towards
- 1:08:53developing other people is actually paying off, it should
- 1:08:58be some sort of compensation to yes, you see, you see.
- 1:09:03You see the great impact you've made in, you know, the lives of
- 1:09:06persons like myself and you know.
- 1:09:08Numerous other people out there. I.
- 1:09:11Hope that you know these these success is.
- 1:09:14Actually to keep you going and you know.
- 1:09:18Also also glad that you are making it up, you know on the
- 1:09:22home front at this point in time, so for.
- 1:09:26For the next question, you it's it is about like your the highs
- 1:09:30and lows of your personal life. But before we get to that, right
- 1:09:33I me know you personally and you haven't been my lecturer.
- 1:09:37You know, at some point I I see how you used to bring in.
- 1:09:42Personal stories of your life. In order to.
- 1:09:46Help people understand. The.
- 1:09:49Principles. The concepts that you teach in
- 1:09:52accounting and finance, right? Are there.
- 1:09:54Like Eddie, You know stories of your life you're willing to
- 1:09:57share on this podcast that you feel would.
- 1:10:00Be a great lesson for young people's rights to learn for or
- 1:10:05to learn from. Rather, you know things that
- 1:10:08happen to you. Personally, that form to your
- 1:10:11highs and lows in life and, you know, moderate you as a person
- 1:10:15and you kept you going. Yes, thank you very much.
- 1:10:20We we branch on it the other time, but I will just.
- 1:10:23Give it full flesh. Now in life things are not
- 1:10:28always straightforward like that, but keep this principle.
- 1:10:33Too. Had a good attitude towards
- 1:10:38anybody you meet in your life. Good attitude and prayerful with
- 1:10:44that God. We always made that way where
- 1:10:49you think there is no way. In fact, with good.
- 1:10:53Attitude and good attitude is when.
- 1:10:56You see some people. That are needs and you give them
- 1:11:00things. They didn't ask for it, but you
- 1:11:03know that they are in need. You give them many I need today
- 1:11:09make it true little I give to them and I'm going to wear You
- 1:11:15are asking the question I'm just.
- 1:11:16Laying the background the moment you are giving, the moment you
- 1:11:22give. To the needy.
- 1:11:24You are lovely suffer. Even when it's has some some
- 1:11:31plots from the enemy or some plot from the bad people, you
- 1:11:36will never fall into it because God in his finished mercy we
- 1:11:40look at it. No, not this.
- 1:11:42My, my my my beloved that. Is helping people.
- 1:11:46Either they asked or they did not ask.
- 1:11:49He used his own church mind or most mind to to help.
- 1:11:53So this trap you are setting this person would not fall into.
- 1:11:58It. Where am I going?
- 1:12:00You see? With good attitude, I was able
- 1:12:04to sponsor my academic to a PhD level and I know that that's the
- 1:12:09highest level. Of education.
- 1:12:12With good attitude, I was able to see that.
- 1:12:20Is where you work hard. Have good mind ensure that other
- 1:12:27people around you are happy. Feeds them off with one job or
- 1:12:33the other. Today I can tell you nothing
- 1:12:38less than 50. Jobs, nothing less.
- 1:12:41Than are fees. One or two people, some I did
- 1:12:44not even remember again. But if I did not do that.
- 1:12:48Other people will do it. We'll have the.
- 1:12:51Opportunity and I'm doing it, so it's assists.
- 1:12:56In my family, I would like to inform you it's not that we are
- 1:12:59brilliant, but we hardly me and my family hardly go to hospital.
- 1:13:06We are. I always travel.
- 1:13:09But God always prevents me from accident.
- 1:13:13Is not that I'm very. Special but.
- 1:13:15I knew that those good things you are trying to do to people
- 1:13:20that face that they did not ask for it, but you know that they
- 1:13:23are in need. Don't wait for them to ask.
- 1:13:25And you are doing it. God will use that to protect
- 1:13:30you. Straightforward in my.
- 1:13:32Career. I work in an organisation where
- 1:13:37a director of finance was arrested by.
- 1:13:41Police. Though I'm not the director of
- 1:13:43finance, I'm the head of all the internal compliance.
- 1:13:49They kept him. In custody for four days and.
- 1:13:56The owner of the the the the CEO.
- 1:13:57Of the organisation have she has that reckless way of addressing
- 1:14:03staff. In fact, many staff cannot look
- 1:14:07up to her and challenge her same.
- 1:14:11Thing she want to apply to the extent that.
- 1:14:13She brought in a DS to come and pick me up, but.
- 1:14:18Because God in His finite mercy, is higher than anybody the day
- 1:14:26She. Plotted it they.
- 1:14:28Said I would not leave the compound immediately.
- 1:14:31I I I lodge the complaint to AIG's office in Moses Zone Zone
- 1:14:377. Zone Zone 3 AIG Office that's in
- 1:14:45my. Organisation.
- 1:14:47I was instructed that the CEO said that you know, go live out
- 1:14:50of the gate and have already close.
- 1:14:52This is 520 and my closing time is 5:00 PM.
- 1:14:57But we got the DSS could not mobilise to come and pick me for
- 1:15:04unknown offence. I left the second day I came to
- 1:15:10office. I documented that.
- 1:15:14That. My right was trampled upon not
- 1:15:17to leave the premises. For what I did not know anything
- 1:15:20about. The CEO did not answer.
- 1:15:23And she did not reply my mail on the 5th full day.
- 1:15:27The next two weeks because they have been plotting.
- 1:15:31And. They want the DSS to come.
- 1:15:33And you know. DSS that they are plotting to
- 1:15:36come is a legal duty. You can only use CSS when
- 1:15:39somebody want to topple the the, the, the, the, the, the
- 1:15:44government of that time during that period because that's my
- 1:15:49statement in a police station, topple the government or cause a
- 1:15:54problem to Nigeria sovereignty. But when is office matter?
- 1:16:00I think it's a civil case. You go to police station to
- 1:16:03report. So I've reported to the police
- 1:16:07it did she wants. Me to.
- 1:16:09Share a session on the. No, no, no, no.
- 1:16:14SOP reviews, and that's a way. She did that the same thing she
- 1:16:20did when the person I called Director of finance was sharing
- 1:16:25a meeting before a police came to pick him and they allow him
- 1:16:28to stay for four days. Same thing was applied to me.
- 1:16:33I was asked to share a particular SP review meeting.
- 1:16:39I didn't know what happened and this.
- 1:16:43I have not. Done that before.
- 1:16:45It's something just asked me. To stroll out, I picked my car.
- 1:16:49Stroll out coming back. DSS is already in front of our
- 1:16:54office with their pickup. One person drive the other
- 1:16:58person by the driver side have a gun, two other person at the
- 1:17:02back with gun so that they will pick me and put me in the
- 1:17:06middle. Well, I saw them.
- 1:17:08I greeted them the security. That I used to give money.
- 1:17:13To that said, Uh, these people. Are here this but I would I
- 1:17:20would not allow them to enter because the Chief security
- 1:17:23officer is not around and they ask that they want to see HR
- 1:17:31person. The HR person was will point to
- 1:17:34somebody. They will pick.
- 1:17:36You're not. Going to my head that.
- 1:17:39So I want to enter immediately. I turn back and I go to zone 7
- 1:17:44and says. This I'm suspecting.
- 1:17:48Actually. Materialise Police Station in
- 1:17:51police a IG office 07 now decides to write.
- 1:17:58I invite the CEO to the police station and this is how we are
- 1:18:03able to settle the world because they.
- 1:18:06Told her that I'm doing my job as a compliance director because
- 1:18:10if anything goes wrong, the FCC will first speak me before they
- 1:18:14pick anybody in the organisation has compliance.
- 1:18:17So they ask compliance and. So.
- 1:18:20These are what actually I would say that in the career is the
- 1:18:26downside of it but as I finance person you.
- 1:18:32Always. Expect this, but Please ensure
- 1:18:36you do play professional competence and due care.
- 1:18:38Your creativity is standing out. Your integrity is standing out.
- 1:18:43Your your professional behaviour is second to none.
- 1:18:47This. Will protect you.
- 1:18:49Interested Vantastic. Work so.
- 1:18:53What? What skills are our competences?
- 1:18:55Do you think you have right or people do not know about ohh
- 1:19:01you're really? Proud of.
- 1:19:03I mean. A real I'm proud to be a good MC
- 1:19:08of a programme. But many of you did not know
- 1:19:10that I'm a good MC. Yeah, so that is one of the
- 1:19:17skill. Umm a good driver.
- 1:19:19I I think at Abuja to Lagos which is 678 kilometre are
- 1:19:28through the road not less than 28 times or more than that.
- 1:19:32So to Lagos are coming back. I'm a good.
- 1:19:36Driver and also I'm a good swimmer.
- 1:19:40Many of you are not aware of that.
- 1:19:42I'm a good swimmer, Phillips. Michael Phelps of Nigeria It's
- 1:19:51just it's picking up on a good MC.
- 1:19:54I know that you are a good MC. I think you know why you used to
- 1:19:58teach us back in the days. I used like a lot of interesting
- 1:20:03stories to illustrate your point.
- 1:20:06I remember 1. The Rhapsody.
- 1:20:08Rhapsody. City.
- 1:20:11Today. You said one or two of this.
- 1:20:16You know, for these stories, you know.
- 1:20:21Please. OK, let me do that of Raceday
- 1:20:26dead. OK, one of it I think in Uniben
- 1:20:31there is a friend of us that are the gates.
- 1:20:35Many people that go to university will understand what
- 1:20:37I mean by the gate is a popular place that students reside.
- 1:20:43There is a guy called. Chinedu.
- 1:20:46He attended the living was its pastor, Christchurch Living
- 1:20:54Faith No World. Yes, Christ Embassy.
- 1:21:01So yes, yes, there is. A magazine or quarterly release
- 1:21:10or monthly release. Core Rhapsody and Pastor Chris
- 1:21:14is a doctor. He would not expect any of his
- 1:21:18member to do that. You can.
- 1:21:19Sir. But not during the time we'll be
- 1:21:22having lecture in the class. You just see the Chinedu at the
- 1:21:26gate saying bye day today, bye bye.
- 1:21:38Ohh, not that she didn't do. Please.
- 1:21:41It's not the time that you're supposed to be selling Rapsody.
- 1:21:45We're in class. I'm moving here today into the
- 1:21:48realm of first class Plus and believe me you he came out with
- 1:21:55pass. He's not doing the right.
- 1:22:00Thing at the right. Time selling Rhapsody is good,
- 1:22:03but not where you need to be in class.
- 1:22:06The other one is our friend is an artist, we are a uniben.
- 1:22:12All four is. An artist, he used to know how
- 1:22:14to draw people. When he sees you, he will draw
- 1:22:18you within 10 minutes and that joy will look, that image will
- 1:22:23look through of yourself so funny.
- 1:22:26In that game and show us. 2 Queen Maker.
- 1:22:34Chukwuemeka. Having concert in worry.
- 1:22:39America, you that we know. That you are an artist.
- 1:22:42Yes, you are a real artist, but not artists of displaying or
- 1:22:48holding concerts To be a musician, no, he said.
- 1:22:51Forget bio amanatidis. This is when I look at it.
- 1:22:55That what your friend is doing. Good thing you need to mobilise.
- 1:22:59So we now work together to worry.
- 1:23:03They not give the. Mike to our friend to start

- 1:26:41The third is. Our current.
- 1:26:42President Bola Ahmed. I'm not an APC stalwart.
- 1:26:51I'm not a physician. But you know the people that.
- 1:26:57Knows the, knows follow. Them they are knowledgeable like
- 1:27:01you in lecturing or myself in lecturing.
- 1:27:03When it comes to I can I type my student?
- 1:27:06Gonna say we are the icon. It means you know the subject
- 1:27:11and you know. You know people must will follow
- 1:27:14you because they know that you know and you also know that you
- 1:27:18know. So to him is funny enough.
- 1:27:23Is a chartered accountant. Is a professional.
- 1:27:25Accountant as well, and also we know by His Grace, with the
- 1:27:30economy reform before the end of this year since will be falling.
- 1:27:35Into shape. What?
- 1:27:38What? Are spread over 20 years.
- 1:27:40Cannot. Just be revamped within one
- 1:27:44year, but I think things will get better.
- 1:27:47That's for for the UH leaders. When it comes to female.
- 1:27:55I didn't know why, but she she's late as well.
- 1:27:59I have one late and also a living one.
- 1:28:03Professor Dora quietly. Ohh.
- 1:28:08You agree with me? That she's a legend that.
- 1:28:14Yes, we want to. Stabilise Nigeria Drug and other
- 1:28:20artists but unfortunately we lost our very, very passionate.
- 1:28:29Very. Very passionate indeed.
- 1:28:32And for the second person is meeting number.
- 1:28:41Why when he was a? Senator.
- 1:28:43She always advocate for female gender based violence.
- 1:28:49She's part of those who supported to promulgate the
- 1:28:55gender based violence child rights.
- 1:28:59And many other. Things that has to do with
- 1:29:01female also she has attained a particular stage from Senator to
- 1:29:11the First Lady of Nigeria. Thank you.
- 1:29:15It's just the interesting SO. My own last question to you is
- 1:29:18what advice would you give to young people in general?
- 1:29:22In order to enable them to access or, I want to let the
- 1:29:26young people knows. That there is no shortcut to
- 1:29:30success. No shortcuts to success.
- 1:29:34Whatever you know, you are passion for.
- 1:29:36Go for it. Giving your best be.
- 1:29:40Persevere. The resilience and adopt these
- 1:29:43two things, attitude matters a lot.
- 1:29:46In fact, our young people, you know where I'm from, a Yoruba
- 1:29:50extraction in Nigeria we respect.
- 1:29:54A. Lot.
- 1:29:55And when you respect, you will see that people will respect you
- 1:30:00more. And it gives you that fulfilment
- 1:30:02that you didn't step on any toes.
- 1:30:05You, you. You, you, you, you.
- 1:30:08You are welcome. Should so attitude prayerful, is
- 1:30:13not by power, but by the grace of Almighty God.
- 1:30:17Also, whatever you know you are. Doing that you you are exactly
- 1:30:24you do it with ease. That is your area of core
- 1:30:28competency. Develop that area.
- 1:30:32Uh there is a Europa added that say Africa you work in Kodu into
- 1:30:39lap meaning that somebody that use force Yahoo.
- 1:30:45Yahoo. Yahoo Plus to look for money.
- 1:30:51They do. Still long.
- 1:30:53To enjoy. That money.
- 1:30:56There are many. Ways.
- 1:30:58To make it through the Internet, you can use your page, your blog
- 1:31:04and other things to make a legit money.
- 1:31:06Not using human being like your girlfriends to make money.
- 1:31:11It won't last. Long so that's my advice for the
- 1:31:14youth. Be persevere.
- 1:31:17Develop your skill. What You know you?
- 1:31:19Know how to do best, which is that we project you to the
- 1:31:23limelight. Thank you.
- 1:31:25Thank you very much, Sir. So at the end.
- 1:31:27Of the port we. Have a tradition during the
- 1:31:30previous guest leaves the question.
- 1:31:32For the next guest, right. And of course the current guests
- 1:31:36would leave the question for the next person.
- 1:31:39So the question I was there for you is from a chart of the
- 1:31:42content as well. She, she's a manager with PwC
- 1:31:45UK. She's a she, She's a career
- 1:31:49coach, right, and mentor and that is all red colour and then
- 1:31:55he wants to do. One question she asked for you,
- 1:32:00so she says if the person that has the solution to a major life
- 1:32:06problem that you have. It is a well known enemy of
- 1:32:11yours. That is, that person is enemy of
- 1:32:14yours, right? Would you?
- 1:32:17Go to the person for the solution.
- 1:32:21Or will you? Would you rather just lock up?
- 1:32:23What would you do? In that kind of.
- 1:32:25Situation, yeah. This is a great question, but to
- 1:32:33be sincere. I.
- 1:32:35Told you, I'm a politician, but I didn't play Nigerian politics.
- 1:32:38Maybe in the future I can, but for now I don't play it.
- 1:32:41But in politics no permanent. Enemy No.
- 1:32:46Permanent friends in politics? No.
- 1:32:50Permanent. Enemy and no permanent friend.
- 1:32:53I know other bukola will have put this question.
- 1:32:58To. Get.
- 1:33:00A an intellectual reaction, if I'm the one.
- 1:33:05I will tell. You.
- 1:33:06I will go. I made that.
- 1:33:11Because if you look at it. Before now, President Tinubu has
- 1:33:18an issue with the late accurate in some years back, but.
- 1:33:23He didn't. Allow that one to affect the
- 1:33:26relationship and the cement that relationship.
- 1:33:29They become friends. During his own election,
- 1:33:32Akeredolu and his team was able to deliver on those states.
- 1:33:35So there is no permanent enemy, no permanent friend.
- 1:33:41So to me to answer, I will go to that enemy to provide that
- 1:33:45solution because that enemy today will become fluent
- 1:33:49tomorrow. Who tells you that your friend
- 1:33:51today will? Not become enemy tomorrow.
- 1:33:55There are no. Covenant trends of fools.
- 1:33:59Interested. Interested.
- 1:34:01Articulate there you go. There you have the response to
- 1:34:04your question. So what question would you like
- 1:34:07to leave for the next guest? Sir, My own question is this.
- 1:34:12And is very dicey. Um, what weight?
- 1:34:18Will the. Next guests do.
- 1:34:22In this situation you have. A lady.
- 1:34:27That's. You love so.
- 1:34:29Well, but she. Loves you, but she's not.
- 1:34:33Showing you she. Loves you she not going to
- 1:34:36special prayer they told her that you have a.
- 1:34:41The Short Life to live on Earth. That's the only thing.
- 1:34:47She can do is to do. Fasting and prayer for 70 days
- 1:34:54and during this period there must not be any intimacy between
- 1:35:00you and that girlfriend, that is, you must not have had.
- 1:35:04Affairs with the girlfriends. So because of that, the lady now
- 1:35:07decide to hold up to herself and pretend that she she did not
- 1:35:10love you but praying for you. Our friends.
- 1:35:16Also. Have a.
- 1:35:18Problem where all the uh boyfriend or fiancee jittered
- 1:35:24her? Well, she disguised herself not
- 1:35:28to let people know that she's. From a wealthy?
- 1:35:30Family where the father have willed the estates and
- 1:35:35everything that has to do with her father, so the husband that
- 1:35:39will marry her. Now.
- 1:35:44The. Friend now decided to come and
- 1:35:46beg on behalf of that girlfriend you love, but she's not showing
- 1:35:50you love but she have internal love for you.
- 1:35:54Did not decide during the beg both of you.
- 1:35:58Now have connection and she wants to marry you.
- 1:36:04You want to marry her? She now goes home.
- 1:36:07Show you to the uncle people in possession.
- 1:36:10They will all the properties the dilemma I had.
- 1:36:19We are there we are. Coming, I've yet to complete it.
- 1:36:23All the property to you. It did some months to your
- 1:36:29wedding, then you now met. With.
- 1:36:33You and are now go to greet that your friend's girlfriend that do
- 1:36:37not show you that. She loves you.
- 1:36:39That girlfriend now? All these.
- 1:36:42Stories to you that. Now you now have enough life to
- 1:36:46live on earth. Who will you marry and?
- 1:36:50You have been told not to marry two wife.
- 1:37:00That's cool. The next guest has some serious
- 1:37:06work cut out for them. This is, this is.
- 1:37:11This is because the first one thank you to live.
- 1:37:14Longer on earth, the second one bring words to you.
- 1:37:21OK, interested. Interested.
