- 0:01Speaker 1: We are here for is Anski Kratz Brown we have
- 0:06Speaker 1: a brawl to discuss or we are going to take
- 0:09Speaker 1: one moment to toss some flowers to AJ. You predicted this,
- 0:15Speaker 1: it happened to a t. Connor Griffin signs for nine
- 0:19Speaker 1: years one hundred and forty million dollars. There's escalators in
- 0:22Speaker 1: there that could push it up to one fifty. There's
- 0:24Speaker 1: a signing bonus paid out over the next three years
- 0:26Speaker 1: that's twelve million. But I have a conspiracy theory, AJ,
- 0:31Speaker 1: this was agreed to when we first saw a busterer
- 0:34Speaker 1: one tweet posting the exact deal a week ago, and
- 0:38Speaker 1: then it's like, wait, you can't post that yet because
- 0:41Speaker 1: if he wins Rookie of the Year they get an
- 0:43Speaker 1: extra draft pick, but not if the deal is agreed to.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So you were like, yeah, they'll wait several days.
- 0:48Speaker 2: They did.
- 0:48Speaker 1: They waited a week.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Strange how that worked out, right? I mean, isn't this
- 0:52Speaker 2: old news?
- 0:52Speaker 3: Now?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Why are we talking about this? At the top of
- 0:54Speaker 2: the show, I thought we knew this, Like I don't
- 0:56Speaker 2: know we could go or so why are we bringing
- 0:57Speaker 2: this up now? Everyone already knew this was happening, or
- 1:01Speaker 2: even before Buster only was already talked about.
- 1:04Speaker 3: See before it was Buster Posey that broke it, according
- 1:07Speaker 3: to Scott, So now Buster only broke it. Arson Judge extension.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's true, it's real. Now it's official. He hugs his dad,
- 1:21Speaker 1: He gets the teammate showing up to the press conference.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Congratulations to Connor Griffin, nineteen years old, highest paid Pittsburgh
- 1:29Speaker 1: Pirate ever by guaranteed contract before he steps foot in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the big leagues. Now he's in the big leagues. But wink, wink,
- 1:38Speaker 1: this one was done beforehand. You're seeing the news pop
- 1:40Speaker 1: up again because it is now official. And now let's
- 1:44Speaker 1: charge's charge. Yeah literally, jorgesel Layer charging the mound to
- 1:52Speaker 1: aj and going after Raynaldo Lopez. He did not like
- 1:55Speaker 1: the hit by pitch and then the pitch that gets
- 1:58Speaker 1: close to buzzing the tower off him first time around.
- 2:01Speaker 1: He's also got ridiculous video game numbers against him. I
- 2:04Speaker 1: don't want to bury the lead to sixty two year
- 2:06Speaker 1: old Walt Weiss was the one who came in to
- 2:08Speaker 1: save the day and prevent so Laer from hurting more humans.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, he owned him. He owned Lopez, so fine,
- 2:18Speaker 2: what did Lopez do? He brushed him, by the way.
- 2:20Speaker 2: The pitch that hit him he almost swung at by
- 2:22Speaker 2: the way. Let's not for I mean, he was like
- 2:24Speaker 2: a oh man, and he like nicked his hand. It
- 2:27Speaker 2: wasn't even I mean, I don't know, Kratz, maybe you
- 2:29Speaker 2: and I have different opinions on this, but I didn't
- 2:31Speaker 2: think it was really even that close to him. I mean,
- 2:34Speaker 2: it hit him obviously, but it wasn't like right here
- 2:36Speaker 2: at his head. It was more kind of out here,
- 2:38Speaker 2: just I want to back him up a little bit.
- 2:40Speaker 2: And then the next one was kind of the same thing,
- 2:42Speaker 2: and he almost swung at both of him. And then
- 2:44Speaker 2: he went and I give wore a celeire credit. He went,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and there was some talking first, but he went. But Kratz,
- 2:51Speaker 2: where's Jonaheim? Jonaheim just back there like the umpire, Like,
- 2:55Speaker 2: hey man, great job on the on the abs so
- 2:58Speaker 2: far this year. Like oh, by the way, your guys
- 3:00Speaker 2: charging the mound, Like isn't that your number one job
- 3:02Speaker 2: as a catcher to not let that guy get there?
- 3:06Speaker 2: Took him down form tackle.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know what you all star
- 3:11Speaker 3: catchers do, but as the backup catcher, if that dude
- 3:14Speaker 3: gets out there. That is a big time fail. That's
- 3:17Speaker 3: almost you should get cut, like you cannot let anybody
- 3:20Speaker 3: get to your pitcher, especially in that case. It wasn't
- 3:23Speaker 3: like it wasn't like hit him, sprint out there. It
- 3:26Speaker 3: was culminating. And you saw Jonah him on the one
- 3:29Speaker 3: close up that I watched. He was just kind of
- 3:31Speaker 3: in the background. He was like looking over and then
- 3:34Speaker 3: he saw him say something and he looked back over again.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Oh crap, need to get him. And then if you
- 3:40Speaker 3: watch the replay that we're watching right now, it's real tough.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Jonah's getting he's getting boxed out by like first and
- 3:48Speaker 3: third base coaches. Weiss is in there before him. But yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 3: it was a big old melee. That's two big boys
- 3:55Speaker 3: that are going after each other too.
- 3:57Speaker 2: By the way, it is get the way. Yeah they're
- 4:02Speaker 2: both getting suspended. But my thing is is like once,
- 4:05Speaker 2: like fine, so there got there. But there's that split second.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I've been in these before where there's that split second
- 4:10Speaker 2: where you have to make a decision what am I doing?
- 4:13Speaker 2: And your first instinct as a catcher is to grab
- 4:16Speaker 2: the dude that just charges your picture no matter what.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Right if he punches you, fine, you deal with the punch,
- 4:22Speaker 2: but you got to make sure that dude does not
- 4:24Speaker 2: get any swings on your picture. He can't get any
- 4:26Speaker 2: licks on your picture no matter what. If you hold
- 4:29Speaker 2: him and your picture hits him, great, that's good. But
- 4:32Speaker 2: you can't let and this is not not Jonah Hunt's
- 4:34Speaker 2: probably never had the mound charge, never even thought about
- 4:37Speaker 2: because nobody really does it anymore. But that's rule number
- 4:40Speaker 2: one as a catcher is that guy does not get
- 4:42Speaker 2: a swing on your picture. And he got a lot
- 4:44Speaker 2: of swings. And I was just shocked because then Joe
- 4:46Speaker 2: to drop your glove, Jonah, and use both hands and
- 4:49Speaker 2: grab him and don't let him go, and then you're
- 4:51Speaker 2: gonna get tackled and punched and all that stuff. But
- 4:53Speaker 2: he cannot get a swing on your picture.
- 4:55Speaker 3: So I had one chance. I had one chance. In
- 4:57Speaker 3: my entire career. Prince fielders are an altercation. This was
- 5:01Speaker 3: in rookie ball, so we're talking two thousand and two.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And the dude that charged the mound was like two
- 5:07Speaker 3: hitters two hitters later, and I mean he our pitcher
- 5:12Speaker 3: threw up at his head, he ducked it, skimmed his helmet,
- 5:15Speaker 3: and he was ducking and he was already running out there,
- 5:18Speaker 3: so he had like three steps on me. I'm not
- 5:20Speaker 3: catching anybody. I threw my mask at him, I threw
- 5:23Speaker 3: my glove at him, anything to get him to get
- 5:26Speaker 3: away from our picture. But as soon as our picture
- 5:28Speaker 3: like started drifting towards first base, that's when I was
- 5:32Speaker 3: able to, you know, the momentum change, and I was
- 5:35Speaker 3: able to grab him, spin him off. And then when
- 5:39Speaker 3: I spun him off, he turned and our first basement
- 5:42Speaker 3: came in and just picked our first basement right off,
- 5:45Speaker 3: right in the nose, just blood everywhere. Tremendous story.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Wow. Uh Well, I had it to have it once
- 5:56Speaker 2: to me, and it was Miguel Olevo and he charged
- 5:58Speaker 2: DJ Carrascal at the basis loaded and I was and
- 6:01Speaker 2: I listen, he almost charged he. It was base loaded,
- 6:05Speaker 2: and he threw a pitch up and then didn't mean to,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and Olivo swung at it and actually hit him. And
- 6:10Speaker 2: then the next pitch he threw in the same spot,
- 6:11Speaker 2: this time he almost swung at it and did hit him,
- 6:13Speaker 2: and he charged him out and the base loaded, and
- 6:16Speaker 2: so he ran out there and I got him, and
- 6:19Speaker 2: I saw DJ at the players. The players thing we
- 6:21Speaker 2: did in spring training and we were laughing about it,
- 6:23Speaker 2: and I said, DJ, what's the one thing I taught you?
- 6:25Speaker 2: And he's like, if you grab the guy, I hit him.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And I'm like, exactly, because I grabbed, I run out there.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I have Alevo wrapped up. He went to hit him,
- 6:32Speaker 2: He put his arms like, you know, kind of widened
- 6:34Speaker 2: out and I and I went right between his arms,
- 6:37Speaker 2: so I had his arms behind his back and he
- 6:39Speaker 2: was he was stuck like this right before anybody got there,
- 6:42Speaker 2: and DJ Carrasco takes his glove and just goes hey
- 6:45Speaker 2: and didn't do anything, and I'm like, hit him. He
- 6:48Speaker 2: was not coming out here to say hi, I hit him,
- 6:51Speaker 2: and then of course everyone gets there, all hell breaks loose.
- 6:53Speaker 2: A Levo tried to actually hit me in the pile
- 6:56Speaker 2: and I ducked and ended up hitting jose Gian, which
- 6:59Speaker 2: was kind of, you know, funny enough for for not
- 7:01Speaker 2: for me, if not for Joseva for me because he
- 7:03Speaker 2: was trying to hit me, and uh, that was it.
- 7:06Speaker 2: But but I mean I was like, this, dude, I
- 7:07Speaker 2: don't care how big or fast you are, you ain't
- 7:09Speaker 2: getting because he had at some point, they have to stop,
- 7:11Speaker 2: right so before they swing, they're not running out there
- 7:14Speaker 2: and tackling them. They always stop. And that's the split
- 7:16Speaker 2: second where you got to get him as a catcher.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yep.
- 7:20Speaker 1: But I'm happy to say this and stop.
- 7:22Speaker 2: I like this, So Scotty, are you kidding me? Let's
- 7:25Speaker 2: we need more of this? Yes, this brings attention. I
- 7:28Speaker 2: mean they're gonna say, oh, it's negative attention. Who cares?
- 7:30Speaker 2: Remember when hockey when they dropped the gloves USA and
- 7:33Speaker 2: Canada before the game's even started. Guess what everyone watched
- 7:37Speaker 2: next time usavers Canada. Guess what everyone's gonna watch next
- 7:40Speaker 2: time the Braves and the Angels and Ronaldo Lopez play.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I mean it might won't be until next year. They're
- 7:45Speaker 2: gonna want to see or so there and Rinaldo Lopez
- 7:47Speaker 2: face off. I mean it might be bad press, but
- 7:50Speaker 2: it's still people talking about baseball.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah it's us again talking about seat geek over thirty
- 7:59Speaker 1: five million download, number one rated ticketing app. And guys,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know what I like to do. I like to
- 8:03Speaker 1: look ahead and be like, hey, let's make some plans.
- 8:05Speaker 1: The day that I have pinpointed is Sunday, April twelfth.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Aja the pitching pairings. You know how you just picked
- 8:13Speaker 1: some days where First of all, I'm a guy that
- 8:14Speaker 1: likes to look if I'm going to hit a game, right,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and you got the busy schedule, I'm going to go
- 8:18Speaker 1: to a game that's got a marquee pitching matchup if
- 8:19Speaker 1: it's up to me. So you've got Diamondbacks Phillies with
- 8:23Speaker 1: Gallon against Painter on Sunday. You've got Twins and Blue Jays.
- 8:27Speaker 1: If you want to see Todd Bradley coming off with
- 8:29Speaker 1: brilliant performance against the Tigers, he's pitching against Max Schurzer.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Jose Soriano is not getting talked about enough in the league.
- 8:36Speaker 1: We're trying to bring him upretty frequently. He's off to
- 8:38Speaker 1: a nasty start. Freddie Prault is pitching for the Mets
- 8:40Speaker 1: on Sunday. I'll contras back on the mount actually against
- 8:43Speaker 1: Scooble on Sunday. You've got Schlitler against McClanahan, Yankees raise
- 8:48Speaker 1: on Sunday. I mean, I just keep going down the line.
- 8:50Speaker 1: These are the guys that you want to watch. Bubba
- 8:51Speaker 1: Chandler for Pittsburgh's pitching, Logan Gilbert's pitching, Jacob Degram is pitching,
- 8:55Speaker 1: Chris Sales pitching like that is the day to go.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Grab a ticket for a game on sea Geek.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I mean the weather's getting nicer out out east here
- 9:04Speaker 3: in the North, I mean Sasaki is going against the Grom.
- 9:07Speaker 3: You could. Yeah, there's a few places you want to be.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Does Seakeek allow you to buy a ticket to two
- 9:13Speaker 3: different games and be at two different cities.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yes, okay, they do. You can buy tickets to two
- 9:20Speaker 1: different games, and if the places are close enough, you
- 9:23Speaker 1: can go to both games. Day games, yeah, you can
- 9:28Speaker 1: do the day night. I mean it's not easy to
- 9:29Speaker 1: pull off, but you know, if the White Sox and
- 9:31Speaker 1: Cubs are home at the same time, Yankees are Mets,
- 9:34Speaker 1: or even if you want to be really bold and
- 9:35Speaker 1: trying to go from Philly to New York, you can
- 9:38Speaker 1: pull all.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Of that off. I've done it. It's possible, or you
- 9:41Speaker 3: have it.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Is definitely possible. I've done stuff like that too. The
- 9:44Speaker 1: best way to do this, though, is use the code
- 9:47Speaker 1: Territory one zero. If your next set of tickets at
- 9:50Speaker 1: sea Geek, that's ten percent off. Any tickets with the
- 9:53Speaker 1: promo code Territory one zero. Make sure you click the
- 9:56Speaker 1: link in the description to download the app, have that
- 9:58Speaker 1: code automatically added to your account so you can use
- 10:00Speaker 1: it later. Props to sea Geek. Yeah, and if it's
- 10:04Speaker 1: happening all the time, every day, Okay, it's rarely happening.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It has become a true novelty in the sport. I
- 10:10Speaker 1: mean it might happen to that extent a few times
- 10:14Speaker 1: the entire year, over thousands and thousands of games in
- 10:17Speaker 1: Major League Baseball. So I certainly don't think we have
- 10:20Speaker 1: a problem there. And you administer suspension, so that holds
- 10:22Speaker 1: some weight. Rinaldo Lopez is a starting pitcher, so you
- 10:25Speaker 1: imagine he's going to get at least five games. So
- 10:27Speaker 1: they try and kind of like miss a start. What's
- 10:31Speaker 1: what's the problem for?
- 10:32Speaker 3: What what's your to get five? For getting charged?
- 10:37Speaker 1: Well, he punched back.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Well if that's the case, then somebody should just not
- 10:41Speaker 3: a designated charger. Hey, we're facing We're facing Garrett Crochet
- 10:46Speaker 3: charge them. Oh crap, all right, here we go.
- 10:50Speaker 2: How do you think Robin Ventura got out there? Do
- 10:52Speaker 2: you think Robin venturea charge? And Nolan Ryan, because you
- 10:55Speaker 2: they had a thing before the game, they said he's
- 10:57Speaker 2: going to hit somebody whoever he hits has to go
- 10:59Speaker 2: to the mount and get him out of the game.
- 11:01Speaker 2: That adventure is just happened to be that guy, and
- 11:03Speaker 2: then asked Robin, he was not happy about this.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So you think it'll only be on solaiocrats. I'm I'm
- 11:10Speaker 1: not saying what you think should happen. I'm saying what
- 11:12Speaker 1: you think will happen. You think only Solaire gets game
- 11:16Speaker 1: suspension punishments.
- 11:18Speaker 3: I think Lopez will get fined. I do think he'll
- 11:22Speaker 3: get fined or maybe even suspension. But he didn't like
- 11:26Speaker 3: he did he cause Like to me, if major Legue
- 11:28Speaker 3: Baseball looks at it and says, oh, yeah, he caused this, like,
- 11:33Speaker 3: I would have to see more evidence to say, because
- 11:35Speaker 3: I don't feel like he was throwing at Solaire. Did
- 11:37Speaker 3: he have to move Solaire off the play? Yes, he
- 11:39Speaker 3: was hitting six hundred often. It was his fifth home
- 11:41Speaker 3: run of his career off of one guy. That's a
- 11:43Speaker 3: lot you got to move him. But I don't think
- 11:46Speaker 3: he was like maliciously going after him. Now, are they
- 11:48Speaker 3: going to get him for swinging at Solaire with the
- 11:52Speaker 3: ball in his hand? Or maybe he like provoked him
- 11:55Speaker 3: to come out there. Maybe I could. I could see that,
- 11:59Speaker 3: but like somebody comes and charges me, I'm not just
- 12:03Speaker 3: going to stand there and be like, I'm not getting suspended.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Hit me, hit me, hit me, No, like you're gonna
- 12:10Speaker 3: fight back. I don't think that's just he should get
- 12:12Speaker 3: suspended for that.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Soor Lea thought he was thrown at. Of course he's
- 12:18Speaker 1: going to say that. He was asked by an MLB
- 12:21Speaker 1: dot Com reporter if he thought he threw out him
- 12:23Speaker 1: on purpose. He said he didn't miss with the other
- 12:25Speaker 1: hitters like that, like he missed to me, So I
- 12:28Speaker 1: think it was intentional. And remember he homeward, he's got
- 12:32Speaker 1: a history against him. Then he gets hit by a pitch. Yes,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you can make the case that was not intentional at all.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And then that one missing up and in certainly caused
- 12:40Speaker 1: the Angels to be pissed off, primarily so Lair, but
- 12:43Speaker 1: I will include all of the Angels. Remember last weekend,
- 12:46Speaker 1: we just went over how there was a little bit
- 12:49Speaker 1: of action towards Mike Trout and then he eventually gets
- 12:52Speaker 1: hit by a pitch. But the same reporter, Jack Jayne said,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Angels lead MLB it hit by pitches so far in
- 12:57Speaker 1: twenty twenty six, Kurt Suzuki on if the team is
- 13:00Speaker 1: frustrated with getting hit quote, it is part of the game.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But there's going to come a time where enough's enough.
- 13:05Speaker 1: You don't want to get hit by pitches. Ad I
- 13:07Speaker 1: think that time came for the Angels.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Go get him. You wanted to stop, Go get him,
- 13:12Speaker 2: make him stop. Though that means they're pitching inside. And
- 13:15Speaker 2: I was never a big believer. And when this team
- 13:18Speaker 2: leads the world and hit by pitches, so it's it's
- 13:20Speaker 2: you know, sometimes it's also the hitters don't get out
- 13:23Speaker 2: of the way right, So sometimes hitters are taught to
- 13:27Speaker 2: stay in there and take it. So I don't know.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I think it's all depending on how your teaming made up.
- 13:32Speaker 2: But listen, good for Horace clere Man. He had a
- 13:34Speaker 2: problem with Ronaldo Lopez. Ronaldo Lopez said, come get some
- 13:37Speaker 2: and he tried, and Renaldo Lopez got the best shot
- 13:40Speaker 2: in with the ball in his hand. I mean, that
- 13:42Speaker 2: was the best part of this. He punched him with
- 13:44Speaker 2: the ball in his hand. He didn't even he didn't
- 13:46Speaker 2: even drop the ball and throw, and then he kind
- 13:48Speaker 2: of if you watch it, there was a little wabble
- 13:50Speaker 2: and soor lera after he got hit by with the
- 13:53Speaker 2: ball in his hand, but he kept throwing. But he
- 13:55Speaker 2: was throwing like open hand punches. He wasn't really like
- 13:58Speaker 2: it was weird. It was like open hand punches.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Those are not as effected as effective as closed.
- 14:05Speaker 2: Hand with a ball with a base ball in it.
- 14:09Speaker 1: True, true, it was great.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Listen, what why's a badass? We know that. We've talked
- 14:17Speaker 2: about it with him. He's a like a twelve degree
- 14:19Speaker 2: black belt in jiu jitsu or whatever he is. And
- 14:21Speaker 2: even though he's like I'm old now, he's still strong
- 14:23Speaker 2: when you see him. He's strong in person and he's
- 14:26Speaker 2: quiet and he's nice. But I guarantee you piss him off,
- 14:29Speaker 2: he'll go full black belt on you.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Did you guys see what David O'Brien put out the
- 14:33Speaker 1: former Braves reporter. He told the story about how Walt
- 14:37Speaker 1: Weiss essentially took out Josh Donaldson like pinned him years
- 14:41Speaker 1: back when he when donald was pissed off about his
- 14:44Speaker 1: place in the batting order.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, don't mess with what Wiss. We've said it. We
- 14:51Speaker 2: said it before. We told we asked him in person,
- 14:53Speaker 2: and he didn't want to talk about it. But do
- 14:55Speaker 2: not mess with Walt wise he will he'll lock you up. Listen.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I always tell people this. I all my kids this
- 15:00Speaker 2: all the time. No matter how tough you are, there's
- 15:02Speaker 2: always someone out there that can kick your ass and
- 15:05Speaker 2: you don't know who it could be, and you don't
- 15:07Speaker 2: know it, and it's usually the guy with the cauliflower ears.
- 15:10Speaker 2: That's also the dude you probably don't want to mess with.
- 15:13Speaker 3: More the fanny pack. So fanny pack or cauliflower ears
- 15:17Speaker 3: are the people you don't mess with. Just life advice.
- 15:22Speaker 1: He's a full service manager, I'll put I'll put it
- 15:24Speaker 1: that way. I'll bring up the exact wording from David
- 15:28Speaker 1: O'Brien here. He said, remember when I mentioned Walt Weis's
- 15:31Speaker 1: MMA training and workouts back when he got hired as
- 15:33Speaker 1: Braves manager. I must admit I never thought i'd see
- 15:35Speaker 1: him use it in his new job. But there you go,
- 15:37Speaker 1: a couple weeks into the season, already take down an
- 15:39Speaker 1: imposing player. And he was talking about this back and
- 15:43Speaker 1: forth with Donaldson. He said, only two to three others
- 15:45Speaker 1: witnessed it, but the club hause it just emptied out
- 15:47Speaker 1: for batting practice. He was still there interviewing Mike Soroka.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Two dudes came flying across the room, one with the
- 15:52Speaker 1: other in a choke hold, knock over a large potted
- 15:55Speaker 1: plant a few feet from us. Which of them was
- 15:58Speaker 1: administering the choke hold the older gentleman? It was something
- 16:01Speaker 1: I'll tell you that you don't forget moments like that.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You don't if your coach chokes out a player, you
- 16:10Speaker 2: definitely don't forget that. Now, I give Dave o brian credit.
- 16:12Speaker 2: He didn't talk about this for a long time, so
- 16:14Speaker 2: I give him credit. Apparently you can trust Dave o
- 16:16Speaker 2: brian because most most reporters would have wrote that right
- 16:19Speaker 2: away before they got out of the clubous it would
- 16:21Speaker 2: already been tweeted. So I give Dave O'Brian credit for that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, credit that that is true. Right. He's retired now,
- 16:31Speaker 1: so he's gonna lay the stories out last part here.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Does this provide any kind of spark for you, Aja,
- 16:38Speaker 1: I mean, you weren't here the other day when we
- 16:40Speaker 1: talked about Wilson contraras, actually that was yesterday. But does
- 16:44Speaker 1: any of that kind of stuff fire up, fire you up,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you know, brawl whatever? It is not that the teams
- 16:49Speaker 1: needed it. Both the Braves and the Angels off to
- 16:51Speaker 1: a pretty good start.
- 16:54Speaker 2: No, I don't think so. I think this is they
- 16:56Speaker 2: don't play each other for a long time, so I
- 16:58Speaker 2: think this will just go away. I think it's it's
- 17:00Speaker 2: fun to talk about today, but as a team. Again,
- 17:02Speaker 2: I've been in these before. They don't linger very long,
- 17:04Speaker 2: especially on teams that don't play each other. I mean,
- 17:06Speaker 2: the Braves and Angels won't play each other till next year,
- 17:08Speaker 2: So it's not a thing. It'll go away. It's cool,
- 17:13Speaker 2: you know, it's cool, and it's something fun to talk about,
- 17:15Speaker 2: but I don't think it carries over. It means much
- 17:17Speaker 2: other than it's a great story for everyone to tell.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And then I guarantee there's guys in the clubhouse last
- 17:22Speaker 2: night and today they're going, oh, let's see where he was,
- 17:24Speaker 2: let's see what he did, And they're going through their
- 17:27Speaker 2: teammates and they're finding the guy that didn't do anything.
- 17:29Speaker 2: They're like, huh, you didn't do anything?
- 17:30Speaker 3: Where were you?
- 17:31Speaker 2: What took you so long? Where were you?
- 17:32Speaker 3: You know?
- 17:33Speaker 2: Krats how it is, what these things happen. Everyone goes
- 17:34Speaker 2: through the tape about a million times and just looks
- 17:37Speaker 2: for every person they know, Oh.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Yeah, let's finish with this and then we'll get ready
- 17:42Speaker 1: for our first guest. Say Langeleier is joining us, krats,
- 17:45Speaker 1: Can you show everyone what Ronald Lukunya Junior did when
- 17:49Speaker 1: he was running in bro.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I mean he was like he was like in uh oh,
- 17:55Speaker 3: what's the he just I mean, he came running in
- 17:59Speaker 3: and he was like, let's go, oh, we're ready, here
- 18:01Speaker 3: we go. What is it the arm wrestling movie where.
- 18:04Speaker 2: He's over the top, Bro, come on over the.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Top, he goes. He goes, when I moved my hat
- 18:09Speaker 3: from here to here, I am ready over the top.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Sebby didn't have a Russian accent.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Who wasn't?
- 18:20Speaker 2: No, that was that was your Philly stallone accent.
- 18:24Speaker 3: So it wasn't.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I forget who it was then, but it was still loone.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It was stallone. It was over the top, he said,
- 18:32Speaker 2: when I turned my hat around, it's like the start
- 18:34Speaker 2: of an engine.
- 18:36Speaker 3: That's what it is, okay.
- 18:37Speaker 2: Because he was a truck driver. Remember it was called
- 18:39Speaker 2: Hawk and Son by the way, Hawk and Son was
- 18:41Speaker 2: the name of the truck driver. He had the machine
- 18:44Speaker 2: in his truck where he just sit there and go
- 18:46Speaker 2: and then he had to beat the big guy with
- 18:47Speaker 2: the big mustache, the food made at the end that
- 18:50Speaker 2: no one could beat. And he did the little with
- 18:52Speaker 2: his fingers. He did a little move with his fingers
- 18:54Speaker 2: where he went over the top.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I clearly didn't watch it as many times as AJ has.
- 19:00Speaker 2: So anyways, Scott's like, what are you guys talking about?
- 19:05Speaker 1: I didn't watch that episode of foul Territory? Was that
- 19:10Speaker 1: an all show or a Tricia show?
- 19:13Speaker 2: Great flick, great flick.
- 19:15Speaker 3: It was what they would play. It was what they
- 19:17Speaker 3: would play during Sunday Night Baseball and MB Network. So
- 19:20Speaker 3: that's probably why you missed it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: M Yeah, I was always sleeping during those movies.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 19:26Speaker 1: That's what he said.
- 19:29Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 19:30Speaker 1: That's what he said. You know, it's a sneaky good quote,
- 19:37Speaker 1: John Schneider. And first we'll start with his ejection yesterday,
- 19:41Speaker 1: well timed. AJ. The Blue Jays are struggle city right now,
- 19:45Speaker 1: and a lot of it has to do with the injuries.
- 19:47Speaker 1: We'll get to some of those later, but he did
- 19:50Speaker 1: really lay it all out. He put it all out
- 19:52Speaker 1: there in his ejection after the Dodgers took them down again. Well,
- 19:56Speaker 1: during the mist of that game.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, he did. That was a lot of frustration
- 20:03Speaker 2: I think for Schneids, between the injuries, the beating they
- 20:06Speaker 2: took the night before Monday when I was there and
- 20:09Speaker 2: position players pitched for both teams. I mean, listen, this
- 20:13Speaker 2: is one of those that was almost like, I have
- 20:14Speaker 2: to do this to try to get some emotion on
- 20:16Speaker 2: my team. And he did it, and he got his
- 20:18Speaker 2: money's worth and his fate. When his face went red,
- 20:20Speaker 2: you were like, Oh, this is not gonna end well
- 20:22Speaker 2: for him. He's gone. But I want to ask Kratz
- 20:26Speaker 2: a question because we kind of had this conversation after
- 20:28Speaker 2: the game I did on Monday the Dodgers in the
- 20:30Speaker 2: Blue Jays, is it more? Is it worse that you
- 20:33Speaker 2: lose fourteen to one. You're losing fourteen to one and
- 20:35Speaker 2: you have to pitch a position player in Heineman who
- 20:38Speaker 2: came in, or that the Dodgers went out there and said,
- 20:41Speaker 2: we don't think you can do anything, and we're gonna
- 20:43Speaker 2: pitch Mickey Rowe in the night instead of one of
- 20:46Speaker 2: our use one of our bullpen bullpen arms, which one's worse,
- 20:50Speaker 2: not even close.
- 20:51Speaker 3: It's the fact that the other team is beating your
- 20:53Speaker 3: brains in and they use a position player to finish
- 20:56Speaker 3: the game out. I'm not saying it's I'm not saying
- 20:59Speaker 3: Dave Robert was wrong in doing that. I think it's
- 21:01Speaker 3: gene I don't know. I think it's a genius because
- 21:04Speaker 3: you get every inning you save, and that's why when
- 21:06Speaker 3: you're losing, you do that. Every inning you save, you're
- 21:09Speaker 3: you're good to go for the next two or three days.
- 21:12Speaker 3: But the fact that they couldn't they couldn't even use
- 21:15Speaker 3: up their bullpenut like, that's way worse, way, way, more embarrassing, way,
- 21:19Speaker 3: whatever words you want to use.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Agreed.
- 21:26Speaker 1: So Schneider also had obviously his team's getting messy with injuries,
- 21:31Speaker 1: especially to their rotation. So Schneider had a quote about
- 21:34Speaker 1: Patrick Corbin and we've been covering him for years in
- 21:38Speaker 1: the game. He's popping back up here with Toronto and
- 21:42Speaker 1: he's going to pitch, I believe, on Friday. So Schneid's
- 21:46Speaker 1: who's a really sneaky good quote. I know if I
- 21:48Speaker 1: Tello for the Giants is still in the show these days,
- 21:50Speaker 1: but don't sleep on John Schneider. The feedback he got
- 21:53Speaker 1: about Patrick Corbin from his old teammate Max Shuzer quote.
- 21:58Speaker 1: I think Max called him a sod dog. It was
- 22:01Speaker 1: the first time I've heard that. I guess he just
- 22:03Speaker 1: kind of does what he's told and pulls the sled. Ah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Have you heard of the term slod dog.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I've heard of a sled dog, but I've never heard
- 22:12Speaker 2: of a sod dog. I mean, listen, back sometimes speaks
- 22:16Speaker 2: his own language. So just let him go. Just let
- 22:19Speaker 2: just let him roll, because maybe he was talking out
- 22:21Speaker 2: of his blue eye instead of his brown eye. I
- 22:23Speaker 2: don't know, but I don't know. Sometimes you gotta let
- 22:27Speaker 2: Max just go.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I don't know. I looked up. I looked up AI
- 22:32Speaker 3: sod dog. Sod for Dogs provides a natural absorbit non
- 22:36Speaker 3: toxic surface for pet potty training. I don't know. I'm
- 22:42Speaker 3: not sure sod dog. But I know what Patrick Corbyn
- 22:45Speaker 3: does do. He doesn't say boo about anything. He comes
- 22:49Speaker 3: in and gets a contract with the NATS, wins the
- 22:51Speaker 3: World Series and takes it on the chin for the
- 22:54Speaker 3: next few years because his e er isn't very good.
- 22:57Speaker 3: And you know what he keeps doing coming out there.
- 23:00Speaker 3: He keeps showing up every single day, making every one
- 23:03Speaker 3: of his starts during that time. He didn't duck away.
- 23:06Speaker 3: He didn't duck away like you see some dudes that
- 23:08Speaker 3: get contracts and they're like, I just can't make it.
- 23:12Speaker 3: He showed up and he actually kind of reinvented himself
- 23:16Speaker 3: towards the end of that contract and end last year,
- 23:19Speaker 3: where he's still the same guy that's making all his starts,
- 23:23Speaker 3: but he had better numbers. So I don't know that
- 23:29Speaker 3: is high praise coming from Max Schurzer. If a dude
- 23:32Speaker 3: just is going and knows that this dude just goes
- 23:34Speaker 3: out there he said, does what he's told and helps
- 23:37Speaker 3: the team win.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Yep. And that's why he's still in the league too.
- 23:41Speaker 1: That's a big part of it. As he gets up
- 23:43Speaker 1: there in years, let's get to a guy who does
- 23:47Speaker 1: go very deep in his outings and is super reliable,
- 23:50Speaker 1: but a little bit pissed off. San Dielo Contra removed
- 23:54Speaker 1: from last night's game, the game that his team ultimately lost.
- 23:58Speaker 1: He was responsible for the two is that we're on
- 24:01Speaker 1: hitting a walk. He was like writy on deck and
- 24:04Speaker 1: they decided to remove me. So the quote from him,
- 24:08Speaker 1: as tweeted by Isaacazook from Fish on first part of
- 24:10Speaker 1: the e Fty Network quote. I feel like I deserved
- 24:13Speaker 1: to be asked how I feel before getting taken out
- 24:16Speaker 1: of the game at ninety five pitches and already on deck.
- 24:18Speaker 1: But I respect the decision. Should this have been handled differently?
- 24:24Speaker 1: A j If the Marlins want to take them out,
- 24:26Speaker 1: they take him out. But do you have to handle
- 24:28Speaker 1: it differently with your acem.
- 24:32Speaker 2: No, it's a it's a It depends on how what
- 24:36Speaker 2: your relationship is. I feel like Sandy's been so good
- 24:40Speaker 2: for this team for so long, and there's his numbers.
- 24:45Speaker 2: What kind of want that guy on the mound. I'm
- 24:47Speaker 2: not gonna lie. Did you think he could go? Yes,
- 24:50Speaker 2: Sandy's the guy who wants to finish every game. He's
- 24:52Speaker 2: kind of like an old school guy in that respect.
- 24:56Speaker 2: He wants to go nine innings. He doesn't want to
- 24:57Speaker 2: go six or seven or whatever it is. He wants
- 24:59Speaker 2: to go and from the Marlins. I kind of want
- 25:02Speaker 2: to let him do that because isn't he going to
- 25:05Speaker 2: get treated anyways? So why are we even having this conversation, like,
- 25:09Speaker 2: let him pitch as much as he can for them.
- 25:10Speaker 2: I don't know, know, it's a weird conversation. And Clayton
- 25:14Speaker 2: McCollugh knows him better than we do, but we all
- 25:16Speaker 2: know that Sandy wants the ball for nine ins.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I think I think the beauty of Sandy is he
- 25:21Speaker 3: says this if they win the game, too, like he
- 25:25Speaker 3: wants to be out there. It's not because they lost,
- 25:29Speaker 3: It's because he wants to be out there, and I
- 25:31Speaker 3: think he is their best option, especially with Pete Fairbanks down. Now,
- 25:35Speaker 3: if you watch the game last night, when he walked
- 25:39Speaker 3: off the mound, when he walked off into the dugout,
- 25:42Speaker 3: he took his hat off and tip tipped his hat
- 25:45Speaker 3: to the crowd as he was walking off in the
- 25:48Speaker 3: at the end of the eighth and I saw Clayton
- 25:53Speaker 3: McCullough go down the tunnel and talk to him. Now,
- 25:58Speaker 3: obviously we have no idea what he says, but did
- 26:01Speaker 3: he think he was coming out of the game at
- 26:03Speaker 3: that point? Was that hat tip for something else? I
- 26:07Speaker 3: don't know. But if you're told, hey, you're back out there,
- 26:11Speaker 3: I don't know that Clayton McCollugh needs to necessarily ask
- 26:14Speaker 3: you if you're okay, like he had just gone CG
- 26:17Speaker 3: the time before. It's early in the season. Yes, I
- 26:20Speaker 3: get it, you're dealing, but pushing it to the limit.
- 26:25Speaker 3: I mean the manager. The manager is the one. The
- 26:28Speaker 3: manager is the one that needs to make that decision.
- 26:30Speaker 3: But yes, you're one hundred percent right, Scott, that your ace,
- 26:34Speaker 3: your number one, is treated differently. Everybody will be treated fairly,
- 26:38Speaker 3: but not everybody will be treated equally. Like you talk
- 26:42Speaker 3: to him more than you would talk to a Yuri
- 26:45Speaker 3: Perez who's also a good pitcher but hasn't earned the
- 26:47Speaker 3: same clout as Sandy. And maybe maybe Clayton doesn't didn't
- 26:51Speaker 3: know how to handle it because Sandy last year wasn't
- 26:53Speaker 3: going to this point.
- 26:56Speaker 1: He also is hit with the triple whammy runners on
- 26:59Speaker 1: base that he's responsible for both score that's number one,
- 27:02Speaker 1: number two blown save two outs, and Elie de la
- 27:07Speaker 1: Cruz comes racing home on a while pitch from Bender
- 27:11Speaker 1: that's two, number three. Team lost the game, So it's
- 27:15Speaker 1: the triple whimmy. It sucks, so postgame you're going to
- 27:17Speaker 1: be pissed. I'm actually wondering a little bit of a
- 27:19Speaker 1: conspiracy here. Aj Sandy's starting to get a little more
- 27:23Speaker 1: open with the me. I love it, of course, we
- 27:25Speaker 1: love when guys are speaking their mind. He wasn't pleased
- 27:27Speaker 1: with being removed from the game. Last time around. He
- 27:30Speaker 1: had the CG and he's like, that was fun, but
- 27:33Speaker 1: nobody was here. We're getting some quotes from Sandy's popping
- 27:36Speaker 1: up on this segment pretty frequently lately.
- 27:38Speaker 2: I like it. Those guys get more comfortable, they open up,
- 27:41Speaker 2: and that's what we like. We want guys to be comfortable.
- 27:43Speaker 2: We want guys to open up and you know, be themselves.
- 27:47Speaker 2: And Sandy's doing that. And listen, Sandy's earning the respect.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Sandy's got a cy young Sandy's got the respect of
- 27:52Speaker 2: the Marlins organization and the respect to people in baseball.
- 27:55Speaker 2: He can say and do what he wants at this.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Point, and I like it in twenty twenty, playing that
- 28:00Speaker 3: at the end of the season, obviously there's no fans
- 28:02Speaker 3: in the stands he was in. I had just gotten
- 28:05Speaker 3: done catching a bullpen. I wasn't playing, but he was
- 28:08Speaker 3: in the outfield and he stopped me and the pitching
- 28:13Speaker 3: coach or the assistant pitching coach at the time, because
- 28:16Speaker 3: it wasn't anyway whatever, And just hearing him talk like
- 28:20Speaker 3: he rarely do you talk to the opponent, but the
- 28:23Speaker 3: fact that you know just hearing the way that he talked,
- 28:26Speaker 3: hearing the way that he like he commands like a
- 28:29Speaker 3: presence about him, and so I'd love to talk to
- 28:32Speaker 3: him now at six years later, six full seasons later,
- 28:37Speaker 3: he commands that type of presence. And I think he said,
- 28:39Speaker 3: I think he would say the things that he said
- 28:42Speaker 3: this year other times. Maybe they just didn't put a
- 28:44Speaker 3: mic in front of his face because he's not He's
- 28:47Speaker 3: not afraid. He's not like, in no way is he
- 28:49Speaker 3: disrespectful about it, but he's not afraid of saying what
- 28:52Speaker 3: he thinks. And he's earned that clout now. But he
- 28:55Speaker 3: was kind of like that in twenty twenty, where it
- 28:57Speaker 3: was like you knew what he was about. He was
- 29:00Speaker 3: about going CG, he was about the Marlins winning, and
- 29:05Speaker 3: he was there for the boys. So I love that
- 29:07Speaker 3: we're getting it in the media now.
- 29:10Speaker 1: He's about to get a lot more of the spotlight
- 29:12Speaker 1: if he keeps pitching like that. He is going to
- 29:14Speaker 1: be the most talked about pitcher over the next couple
- 29:17Speaker 1: months because the Marlins will trade him and AJ. We
- 29:21Speaker 1: had David Sampson on while you were gone, and Samson
- 29:24Speaker 1: thinks that the Marlins are going to essentially trade him regardless.
- 29:27Speaker 1: As long as the asking price has met, they could
- 29:30Speaker 1: be leading the division. And Samson, a former Marlins executive,
- 29:33Speaker 1: thinks that the way that the current front office operates,
- 29:36Speaker 1: they will they look for their asking price. It hasn't
- 29:39Speaker 1: been hit yet, but as soon as it's hit, boom,
- 29:42Speaker 1: he's gone, because it's all about maximizing every player in
- 29:44Speaker 1: their return. That's what Samson said. Still be myers, but
- 29:48Speaker 1: they'll be sellers too. No.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of what the Marlins have always done, right.
- 29:52Speaker 2: They try to thread the need and be good, but
- 29:54Speaker 2: they're never really that good except for the two years
- 29:56Speaker 2: they win the World Series, and then other than that
- 29:58Speaker 2: they don't really seem to try. Fans perspective, David Simpson
- 30:02Speaker 2: said something else. I saw on a clip. What was
- 30:04Speaker 2: the other thing he said? And I was like, what
- 30:05Speaker 2: is he talking about? And I forget what it was now.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Oh man, I'm sure he did say something else and
- 30:11Speaker 2: I was like, what is he talking about?
- 30:14Speaker 1: Was it CBA stuff?
- 30:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:17Speaker 2: There was a clip and it was the abs on
- 30:19Speaker 2: every pitch, That's what it was. And I was like, no, No,
- 30:23Speaker 2: that's yeah, that's yes, abs on every pitch. I'm like,
- 30:27Speaker 2: and then, didn't you say the ABS wasn't good or
- 30:29Speaker 2: didn't you say it wasn't good because he wants it
- 30:30Speaker 2: on every pitch? And I'm like, no, because here's what
- 30:34Speaker 2: people ask me every every place I go, every everywhere
- 30:38Speaker 2: I go. The first one of the first questions people
- 30:39Speaker 2: ask me is what do you think of the ABS?
- 30:41Speaker 2: And I said, you know what, It's done, more than anything,
- 30:44Speaker 2: proved how right umpires are most of the time, because
- 30:47Speaker 2: most of the time they're pretty dang good. Now they're
- 30:49Speaker 2: adjusting to a new thing too, because it's not a
- 30:52Speaker 2: three D zone like they're used to calling. But it's
- 30:55Speaker 2: proving that these umpires are pretty dang good.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it was last night in the Yankee
- 31:01Speaker 1: game where the ump was yelling back like, Hey, if
- 31:04Speaker 1: you don't like my freaking call, then challenge it. I mean, that.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Is good.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I want all of that. I want the league to
- 31:12Speaker 1: actually promote that telling umpires, if someone says a word
- 31:15Speaker 1: to you, tap your head at them. Yeah you don't
- 31:20Speaker 1: like it, challenge it. That's good. I'm with you, though, aj.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I like the way the current setup is. I just
- 31:28Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just saying I respect the opinion.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Some people just say, you know what, I don't. I
- 31:31Speaker 1: want every pitch to be called uniform by a machine,
- 31:36Speaker 1: and I don't agree with it, but I respect it.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I don't think it's like a crazy thought, and I
- 31:40Speaker 1: think it could happen someday even if we don't want it.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I hope not, because I'm looking also to be entertained,
- 31:46Speaker 1: and for me, this is playing out exactly the way
- 31:48Speaker 1: I wanted to. This is entertaining as hell to watch
- 31:51Speaker 1: these games right now and then watch the missus get
- 31:53Speaker 1: turned around. I think we'll talk about the Mets game
- 31:56Speaker 1: at some point too. Aj they thought they were out
- 31:58Speaker 1: of the inning, and who was at Brazaband thought he's
- 32:02Speaker 1: out of the inning. And then all of a sudden,
- 32:04Speaker 1: you know, all Freddy Peralta's runners scored because the call
- 32:08Speaker 1: got flipped. I mean, that's just good drama. It's extra
- 32:11Speaker 1: drama agreed out of the moscows. Let's run through a
- 32:24Speaker 1: few things that stood out from yesterday. Paul Skeens took
- 32:28Speaker 1: a no hitter into the sixth inning, and we also
- 32:30Speaker 1: have a little quote from him. He said, a long
- 32:32Speaker 1: way to go. I'm excited to see what it turns
- 32:34Speaker 1: into I don't even think we're playing our best baseball yet,
- 32:36Speaker 1: which is scary to think about. It's going to be
- 32:38Speaker 1: a lot of fun. Yesterday was what they call a
- 32:41Speaker 1: babbit performance by the offense, like anything that they put
- 32:45Speaker 1: in motion was turning into offense for them. You had dribblers,
- 32:48Speaker 1: you had just balls finding the right spots. And that
- 32:52Speaker 1: also included Connor Griffin contributing a couple runs on his
- 32:55Speaker 1: space hit late in the game to make it a
- 32:58Speaker 1: seven to one win. I think it was five to
- 32:59Speaker 1: one at the time. That turned into seven to one,
- 33:01Speaker 1: and Schemes was Skeens. He was himself, so everyone relaxed.
- 33:06Speaker 1: He's fine. Is he the face of the team anymore?
- 33:11Speaker 1: And AJ ask you this because Skeens was just talking
- 33:14Speaker 1: to the media after the Connor Griffin extension and he
- 33:18Speaker 1: gave that title to Griffin already.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Well, I think he kind of said a tongue in
- 33:25Speaker 2: cheek because he has a long term deal and Paul
- 33:27Speaker 2: Skeins does not. Yeah, and that means that the pirates
- 33:31Speaker 2: are Everyone assumes that the pirates are just gonna shot
- 33:34Speaker 2: Paul Skins at some point. So I actually liked this
- 33:36Speaker 2: quote and much like we just talked about with Sandal
- 33:39Speaker 2: Contra and how he's kind of opening up a little bit.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Maybe we're getting a little bit more of Paul schemes
- 33:44Speaker 2: and he's starting to open up. We're actually getting see
- 33:45Speaker 2: him smile now every once in a while, which was
- 33:48Speaker 2: not a thing of the past.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Wasn't wasn't anything to smile about. He was he was
- 33:54Speaker 3: going out there. He was literally on his own island
- 33:56Speaker 3: for a little bit. And the organization's clearly ate some moves.
- 34:00Speaker 3: But yeah, he's the face. He's the face. Like the
- 34:05Speaker 3: team made these moves because of Paul Skins. How many
- 34:08Speaker 3: teams do you say, oh, man, you know this team,
- 34:12Speaker 3: they have some good players, like we'll try to build
- 34:16Speaker 3: around them, and then not actually do it, Like Paul
- 34:19Speaker 3: Skins made the Pirates go out And maybe they had
- 34:22Speaker 3: to spend just over a million dollars too, I mean
- 34:24Speaker 3: a hundred million dollars, so maybe that had to do
- 34:27Speaker 3: with it. But they looked at it and the easiest
- 34:30Speaker 3: stat was before this season, Paul Skins in his career
- 34:34Speaker 3: to almost two full seasons, just shy of it would
- 34:37Speaker 3: have been forty three to one had his team scored
- 34:40Speaker 3: three or more runs in every one of his starts.
- 34:44Speaker 3: That's a lot to ask, I get it. Three runs
- 34:46Speaker 3: is a lot to ask. Oh wait, no, it's not.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Actually like the Pirates sat there and they go, who like,
- 34:54Speaker 3: we do need to build around this guy. So as
- 34:56Speaker 3: much as I actually agree with it, Connor Griffin is
- 34:59Speaker 3: the new face of the organization. Everything this team is
- 35:03Speaker 3: gonna do is gonna be because of Paul Schemes and
- 35:06Speaker 3: his ticking time bomb. That is his day of when
- 35:10Speaker 3: the Pirates get rid of it.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Mm hmm. He also gave up the first home run
- 35:16Speaker 1: of the season by a Pirates starting pitcher Sandero. Belive it,
- 35:23Speaker 1: he's the only guy on the rotation right now that's
- 35:25Speaker 1: given up a home run. It's embarrassing.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Trade them and release them.
- 35:31Speaker 1: That's really impressive DFA a testament to the whole staff
- 35:37Speaker 1: on the topic of money pitching. TODJ. Bradley looks different,
- 35:42Speaker 1: you know, big fastball, out of movement, nasty splitter, and
- 35:46Speaker 1: he completely outshined Trek Scoogle. The Twins got to school
- 35:50Speaker 1: and knocked him out of the game a game. Todd
- 35:53Speaker 1: Bradley was freaking dealing in a four to two win.
- 35:55Speaker 1: So ten strikeouts, no walk, six and a third, one
- 35:58Speaker 1: run ball, a gleam in posting the fastball, averaging ninety
- 36:02Speaker 1: six point four splitter nine swings and misses. So now
- 36:05Speaker 1: through three starts he has a one oadra twenty two
- 36:09Speaker 1: strikeouts to four walks, and sixteen and two thirds innings.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Kratz wasn't he on with us soon after he got traded,
- 36:16Speaker 1: or maybe we were just talking about a quote from
- 36:17Speaker 1: him and he said, how you know, he's starting to
- 36:21Speaker 1: focus on the prep side. So it did sound like
- 36:24Speaker 1: you're very classic change of scenery candidate, and he went
- 36:28Speaker 1: from a team that usually is able to take a
- 36:30Speaker 1: guy like that and unlock something, but it's the reverse
- 36:33Speaker 1: this time.
- 36:34Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's less of a change of
- 36:36Speaker 3: scenery and more of a wait a minute, I can
- 36:39Speaker 3: be traded. Wait a minute, I'm approaching free agency. Wait
- 36:42Speaker 3: a minute, I'm ridiculously talented and I haven't unlocked everything.
- 36:49Speaker 3: Like we should have known this was happening when that
- 36:51Speaker 3: when that information came out, and he was like, you know,
- 36:54Speaker 3: if I do some prep, like I've seen some other pictures,
- 36:57Speaker 3: do prep, like I should try to do that. And
- 37:00Speaker 3: dudes are probably like, what, like, you haven't been doing
- 37:02Speaker 3: this stuff. You've just been pitching like based on your ability.
- 37:06Speaker 3: That's crazy and it is crazy. But if he is
- 37:09Speaker 3: actually doing if he's implemented these new things. And then
- 37:13Speaker 3: we talked about his stuff plus yesterday increasing as much
- 37:16Speaker 3: as it has the fact that he's elevated his velocity,
- 37:20Speaker 3: his I think he got two more inches of induced
- 37:23Speaker 3: vertical break. Yeah, these numbers kind of match up to that.
- 37:27Speaker 3: And you're kind of like, he's kind of a guy
- 37:30Speaker 3: that we want to see continue, see what happens here
- 37:34Speaker 3: because he could he could go to another echelon that
- 37:37Speaker 3: would you know, make him a perennial All Star, because
- 37:40Speaker 3: you don't forget he's still only twenty five years old,
- 37:43Speaker 3: like some dudes are just barely breaking into the league
- 37:46Speaker 3: at this point.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Tous Rellley's been great. I talked to him spring training
- 37:51Speaker 2: and they were talking about how well he looked in
- 37:52Speaker 2: spring training when I was at Twins camp. And he's
- 37:56Speaker 2: been great. And then also, what was the big thing
- 38:00Speaker 2: about the Tigers last year? What couldn't they do especially
- 38:03Speaker 2: in the postseason? It oh boom, guess what they're not
- 38:09Speaker 2: doing again this year?
- 38:11Speaker 1: Hitting?
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yes, hitting, And what did they address this offseason when
- 38:17Speaker 2: they made all the moves pitching, pitching, hitching. Oh okay,
- 38:22Speaker 2: just asking for just just asking for a friend here.
- 38:27Speaker 2: No homers, see that. See the home runs down right there.
- 38:29Speaker 2: They have seven homers on the year, seven homers. Their
- 38:32Speaker 2: OBP is not great. They do walk. Put the strikeouts
- 38:35Speaker 2: up there now though their strikeouts are no boy, no,
- 38:40Speaker 2: no no. They strike out a lot.
- 38:43Speaker 1: And they might end up relying too much on a rookie.
- 38:46Speaker 1: You know, we've talked a lot about this with the
- 38:47Speaker 1: Red Sox McGonagall comes up. I think some in the
- 38:50Speaker 1: organization feel like he's already their best hitter. I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 1: that's good and bad. This is his first season, so
- 38:57Speaker 1: we'll see what happens. They might be shopping for a
- 38:59Speaker 1: little offense at the trade deadline. The last shout out
- 39:01Speaker 1: for this game, Ryan Jeffers is the ABS whisperer. He
- 39:05Speaker 1: has overturned ten calls already this season. That included two
- 39:10Speaker 1: ending ending strikeouts that were balls and then turned in
- 39:13Speaker 1: two strikes and a strike three, So good for him.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Derek Shelton pointed it out. He's like he's got it.
- 39:18Speaker 3: You know.
- 39:18Speaker 1: It's the situation at the time, and obviously the zone right,
- 39:21Speaker 1: because it's not just knowing the zone, it's knowing when
- 39:23Speaker 1: to use that because if it's a closed call and
- 39:25Speaker 1: you get it wrong, you got to be careful. You
- 39:27Speaker 1: can't use those up too early.
- 39:28Speaker 3: No perfect, No, No, you're right, but perfect isn't. I
- 39:31Speaker 3: think there should be a stat for perfect before the
- 39:34Speaker 3: seventh and then perfect after the seventh. Because I saw
- 39:37Speaker 3: a game the other day it got down. I think
- 39:39Speaker 3: it was a Marlins game. It got down. I think
- 39:44Speaker 3: Hicks was behind a dish. They had two left and
- 39:46Speaker 3: there was one out, one out in the ninth inning,
- 39:49Speaker 3: and he was just like, yep, challenge it and it
- 39:51Speaker 3: was like an inch and a half off, and now
- 39:53Speaker 3: the next one was just at an inch off. So
- 39:55Speaker 3: it was like, use it up, like you can't. You
- 39:58Speaker 3: can't take them with you. You can't save him up
- 40:00Speaker 3: for the next game. So I don't think perfect is
- 40:03Speaker 3: necessarily gonna be the end all be all with abs,
- 40:07Speaker 3: but we'll.
- 40:08Speaker 1: See, yeah, and we can do that, by the way,
- 40:11Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 40:12Speaker 2: By the way, I mean, I caught a game the
- 40:14Speaker 2: other day and it was the Braves Royals and Drake
- 40:18Speaker 2: Baldwin questioned one and he was a ball and he
- 40:21Speaker 2: thought it was a strike and he did it in
- 40:22Speaker 2: the top of the first and it caught and it
- 40:25Speaker 2: clipped the you know, the corner or whatever. It was
- 40:27Speaker 2: a strike, you know whatever. He lost the challenge. First
- 40:30Speaker 2: hitter Ronald Acune comes up on like a one to
- 40:33Speaker 2: one pitch ball clearly in the strike zone. Dude, dude,
- 40:37Speaker 2: lose it. I mean it was all in the pink
- 40:39Speaker 2: on the screen. Praise are out of challenge is four
- 40:41Speaker 2: hitters into the game, four hitters into it? You can't.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I mean, Ronald Cooney, you're a superstar, but you can't
- 40:47Speaker 2: in that situation. You it's got to be four inches
- 40:50Speaker 2: off the plate for you to do that in the
- 40:51Speaker 2: first inning.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Yeah, the Twins have that problem. I mean these are
- 40:56Speaker 1: all small sample size right now, but the Twins have
- 40:57Speaker 1: the same problem. I think he's got a similar success
- 41:00Speaker 1: right right now. Mount Walner is one for four. I mean,
- 41:02Speaker 1: he's a dude who takes a ton of pitches. But
- 41:04Speaker 1: you can run yourself into some trouble, and you know,
- 41:07Speaker 1: I wonder what the rates start looking like for certain
- 41:10Speaker 1: players and if teammates get pissed off. If you're a superstar,
- 41:13Speaker 1: maybe you get like a little bit more leeway because
- 41:15Speaker 1: like if Akunya does challenge a pitch in the first
- 41:18Speaker 1: inning and it ends up turning into a longer at bat,
- 41:21Speaker 1: that he turned something into. I mean he is the igniter.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Still there are other good bats there, but Ronald could
- 41:26Speaker 1: score in the first inning. That could set the tone
- 41:28Speaker 1: with Walner. You got to be careful based on what
- 41:31Speaker 1: your game is. And by the way, we have a
- 41:33Speaker 1: Twin show and a Tiger shows. We're talking about both
- 41:35Speaker 1: these teams. So Twin City's Territory is one of the
- 41:37Speaker 1: newest shows we have, so please go check that out
- 41:39Speaker 1: if you're a Twins fan. And then let's move on
- 41:41Speaker 1: to the Mets. There's the QR code, by the way,
- 41:45Speaker 1: for Twin City Territory, but for the Mets therefore, and
- 41:48Speaker 1: oh since losing Jan Soto to a calf strain, so
- 41:51Speaker 1: everything that we expected to be true is true. Aj
- 41:54Speaker 1: the Mets are better without one soda. Please don't clip that.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I'm kidding, but he is out and other Mets are
- 42:00Speaker 1: stepping up right now. And this is also giving a
- 42:02Speaker 1: chance for some abs and playing time. The Mets have
- 42:04Speaker 1: had like this underrated logjam going on. It's not like
- 42:08Speaker 1: it's stars. But between Brett Batty and Mark Fientos and
- 42:12Speaker 1: now Ronnie Mauricio who gets called up and this is
- 42:14Speaker 1: his last year to get options or they have to
- 42:16Speaker 1: figure out if he's going to be part of the
- 42:17Speaker 1: team long term. His first ab of the year ends
- 42:20Speaker 1: up being a walk off hit for the Mets, so
- 42:23Speaker 1: they end up winning four to three in that one.
- 42:25Speaker 1: They're doing okay right now with Soto, at least for
- 42:27Speaker 1: these first four games, and I mean they're on their
- 42:30Speaker 1: best run here, four game winning streak.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Small small sample size, small sample size. Listen, are the
- 42:37Speaker 2: Mets better without one? So don't know over the long run. No,
- 42:40Speaker 2: But for any team with a bunch of players like
- 42:44Speaker 2: the Mets, it's not like the Mets have nobody on
- 42:45Speaker 2: their team. They have a bunch of really good players.
- 42:47Speaker 2: They can cover it for a little while and depending
- 42:49Speaker 2: on who they're playing with, the matchup is that kind
- 42:51Speaker 2: of stuff. So yes, they're they're doing fine, they're doing well,
- 42:56Speaker 2: and that's good. That's good for the Mets, it's good
- 42:58Speaker 2: for Mets fans. And you know, they're seven and four,
- 43:01Speaker 2: they're off to a nice start. This is kind of
- 43:04Speaker 2: what we thought the Mets were gonna be if they
- 43:05Speaker 2: get any kind of pitching, they're gonna be fine. Right
- 43:07Speaker 2: now they're getting pitching. And also, you know, I know
- 43:09Speaker 2: you're a big believer in the scott Who are they.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Playing the Diamondbacks?
- 43:15Speaker 2: They're good for that? And before that?
- 43:20Speaker 1: Who was the last series?
- 43:24Speaker 2: And they play the Giants at some point they played
- 43:26Speaker 2: the Giants Padres A bunch of those teams.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but those aren't bad teams.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Padres are not playing well. Check the Padres right now.
- 43:32Speaker 2: They are not playing very well right now.
- 43:34Speaker 1: I understand, But but what did you say? Yeah?
- 43:38Speaker 2: Who you're playing? Right crats? It's not who you play,
- 43:44Speaker 2: it's when you.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Play in scott It's not like they're running into the
- 43:47Speaker 1: Rockies then the Cardinals or something. These are I mean,
- 43:49Speaker 1: the Giants and the Padres are playoff contenders.
- 43:52Speaker 2: How are they playing right now? You're gonna put the
- 43:54Speaker 2: You're gonna put the Giants right now as a playoff
- 43:56Speaker 2: contender with the way they've started.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Contender. I'm not saying they're getting in, but they're content.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Okay, Then are the Pirates a playoff contender?
- 44:03Speaker 1: Mmm? I'm not drinking that way. No, I can't do it.
- 44:09Speaker 1: They do this every year. That one, I would rather
- 44:12Speaker 1: play the Pirates late in the year because they're not
- 44:14Speaker 1: built for depth. That's like the Angels too. You don't
- 44:17Speaker 1: want to play the Angels now, you want to play
- 44:18Speaker 1: them at the end of the year when they always
- 44:20Speaker 1: look like crap because they don't build themselves depth by
- 44:23Speaker 1: the depths wise either, and you know you're looking to
- 44:25Speaker 1: the miners for a little reinforcements up those guys are
- 44:28Speaker 1: already called up.
- 44:29Speaker 2: I mean, I'm summarized the either do the A's and
- 44:32Speaker 2: they always stink at the beginning of the year and
- 44:33Speaker 2: they're good at the end of the year. So it's true.
- 44:36Speaker 1: I can't explain that one the A's have a nightmare
- 44:40Speaker 1: one little run that they go through. So and hey,
- 44:43Speaker 1: maybe that happens to the A's this year, because I
- 44:45Speaker 1: don't think they got enough pitching. But uh, for the Mets.
- 44:48Speaker 1: The one other thing I wanted to point out a
- 44:50Speaker 1: j because I was curious to see how this goes down.
- 44:52Speaker 1: They've been on the money with their bullpen editions. Devin
- 44:57Speaker 1: Williams and Luke Weaver have pitched ten innings, They've given
- 45:00Speaker 1: up no runs, They've punched out ten. That is what
- 45:03Speaker 1: you pay for.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yes, it's almost like somebody picked Devin Williams to be
- 45:09Speaker 2: Reliever of the Year this year.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Trying to think that would have been incredibly good looking,
- 45:17Speaker 3: really tall. I'm not really sure who that would have been.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Who said Devin never pays for dinner. All those all
- 45:23Speaker 3: those are characteristics of you know, somebody who would say that.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Mm hmm, just saying so far, so good.
- 45:32Speaker 2: But it's so early, though, Scott, because you know, like
- 45:34Speaker 2: you said, you know, they fade. He didn't have enough depth,
- 45:36Speaker 2: so he fades in the half their second Ascott's we always.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Said your picks might fade. You're off to a really
- 45:41Speaker 1: nice betting start too, but your picks might fade. We're
- 45:43Speaker 1: only even No, I'm just answering back. Sometimes I don't,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but we have time today, so I'm actually answering back
- 45:52Speaker 1: because we don't have to rush to a guest, but
- 45:54Speaker 1: we do have to say bye to Eric, so A
- 45:56Speaker 1: J and I get to go on it even a
- 45:59Speaker 1: little bit more. Here.
- 46:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna leave. I'm gonna leave, but I want you
- 46:02Speaker 3: guys to be nice to each other, Okay, especially you, Scott.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Like normally AJ is the pissy one, don't be so
- 46:07Speaker 3: mad with AJ. Okay, just be nice since I'm leaving.
- 46:10Speaker 1: You know why, because it's cold where I am right
- 46:12Speaker 1: now and it's pissing me off. But don't worry. I
- 46:14Speaker 1: will be down to hang out with AJ next week. Oh,
- 46:18Speaker 1: on a lighter note, you want to do something fun?
- 46:20Speaker 1: Not really, let's do injuries suck. We had to do
- 46:28Speaker 1: a really lengthy segment the other day, AJ, and now
- 46:30Speaker 1: we have updates on most of those injuries. So let's
- 46:33Speaker 1: start with the one that knocks the pitcher out for
- 46:35Speaker 1: the entire season, probably heading into next season two. He'll
- 46:37Speaker 1: miss time.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Man.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Kate Horton looked really good last year, ends up finishing
- 46:42Speaker 1: in second place for Rookie of the Year to Drake Baldwin.
- 46:44Speaker 1: We didn't have him. Did we have him at all?
- 46:47Speaker 1: Now I'm forgetting in the playoffs or no? He was
- 46:49Speaker 1: out right for the postseason.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Oh he missed the post He missed the Brewer Series,
- 46:52Speaker 2: remember right now. And that was a big deal for
- 46:55Speaker 2: them because they had to throw a boyd on short rest.
- 46:57Speaker 2: There was a whole there was a whole lot of things.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It was an and to see him walk out, he
- 47:01Speaker 2: has had tears in his eyes remember when he walked
- 47:02Speaker 2: off the mount I mean, right there, there's the picture.
- 47:04Speaker 2: But oh that sucks for that guy. And it just
- 47:09Speaker 2: keeps happening in scott We got to figure this thing out.
- 47:10Speaker 2: I don't know how, but we got to figure this
- 47:12Speaker 2: thing out.
- 47:12Speaker 1: You're saying, like the elbow surgeries in general.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yes, we got to figure out a way
- 47:19Speaker 2: to slow these down somehow.
- 47:22Speaker 1: Marlin's online one, Hi, I would like Sande al Contra.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I'm willing to pay the price now. I have invested
- 47:29Speaker 1: a lot in my team this year. If I'm the Cubs,
- 47:31Speaker 1: they already have all their best prospects. Remember they traded
- 47:33Speaker 1: for a guy named Cabrera.
- 47:34Speaker 2: They already the Cubs already have all their prospects they
- 47:36Speaker 2: got or the Marlins do they have Casey and the
- 47:39Speaker 2: rest of that crew they got for that and that?
- 47:41Speaker 2: So the Cubs like, we don't have any more left.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Sorry, guys, it's gonna be tough. I mean, we're going
- 47:49Speaker 1: to talk about the Red scene. They're playing really well.
- 47:52Speaker 1: They're on a nice streak. Brewers fired, They're a little better.
- 47:56Speaker 1: The Brewers are the Brewers. There's a lot of competition
- 47:58Speaker 1: here right now in the Central the card are going
- 48:00Speaker 1: to be in their own lane, but the rest of
- 48:02Speaker 1: the Central looks like it's going to be pretty competitive.
- 48:04Speaker 1: So it's a tough blow for the Cubbies. And yeah,
- 48:07Speaker 1: you're not going to see Kate Horton probably until middle
- 48:09Speaker 1: of next year, maybe next pitching, maybe exactly next pitching
- 48:14Speaker 1: injury Hunter Brown. So we knew it was shoulder. Now
- 48:17Speaker 1: we know it's grade too muscle strain. And the Astros
- 48:21Speaker 1: actually consider this good news for the shoulder because they
- 48:24Speaker 1: said it's a muscular thing. It's not any damage in
- 48:28Speaker 1: terms of issues with any of the bones or the structures,
- 48:31Speaker 1: you know. So it's strictly muscle I guess, not like
- 48:34Speaker 1: any ligament ear or whatever. And I'm just going off
- 48:37Speaker 1: what I'm reading here in stories and quotes right now
- 48:39Speaker 1: that's in front of us. But he's going to be
- 48:41Speaker 1: shut down. He'll get re evaluated in a couple of weeks.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It sounds like he'll get shut down for a few
- 48:46Speaker 1: weeks and then you start the ramp up again. That
- 48:48Speaker 1: means he's going to miss a good chunk of the
- 48:49Speaker 1: first half of the year.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I no, there goes my cy young pick. By the way,
- 48:53Speaker 2: we just talked about how good my picks are going.
- 48:54Speaker 2: Way to Gho, Scott, you ruined it. It sucks for
- 48:59Speaker 2: the Astros. It sucks for Hunter Brown more than anything.
- 49:01Speaker 2: It just it just sucks. Man. Injuries suck, like the
- 49:03Speaker 2: thing below me says. But yeah, shoulders never good. We've
- 49:06Speaker 2: how many times we talked about shoulders just never good.
- 49:09Speaker 2: I don't care if it's muscle or what. Shoulders just
- 49:11Speaker 2: are never good.
- 49:13Speaker 1: No. And then if you're watching the Astros, you're seeing
- 49:17Speaker 1: a lot of the innings from last year gone in
- 49:20Speaker 1: terms of starting rotation. So here's Chandler Rome. He said
- 49:23Speaker 1: they're missing four hundred sixty three and a third of
- 49:25Speaker 1: the eight sixty two. So that's more than half the
- 49:29Speaker 1: innings they received last year from their rotation. In from
- 49:31Speaker 1: Berbalde is Hunter Brown for most of those innings. Then
- 49:34Speaker 1: Ryan Gusto, who threw the team's third most innings last season,
- 49:37Speaker 1: And nobody would have gotten that trivia question right outside
- 49:39Speaker 1: of Houston. But they did pick up guys over the offseason.
- 49:43Speaker 1: And this is where a tatsu Yami comes in. Big.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I know the first start was rocky, but I mean
- 49:48Speaker 1: I think and since then better, I think that he's
- 49:51Speaker 1: going to be special for them in a huge addition,
- 49:53Speaker 1: so they're going to need the rest of the rotation,
- 49:55Speaker 1: so loud. Yeah, he's been good. I think Mike Burrows
- 49:57Speaker 1: is going to be good middleish rotation guy. I think
- 50:01Speaker 1: May has got I was the high guy on him.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I was like, I think that he's got top end stuff,
- 50:06Speaker 1: Like I think he could be a number one or
- 50:08Speaker 1: number two starter in terms of this stuff, Like he's
- 50:10Speaker 1: got three sliders. That reverse slider is it has the
- 50:14Speaker 1: what six six inches or so six seven inches of
- 50:17Speaker 1: break on it and it's going the wrong way. Then
- 50:19Speaker 1: he's got the traditional slider, he's got the gyro slider.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I mean, he looks different out there. If he can
- 50:25Speaker 1: command the fastball, I think he's going to be special.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It's not the perfect replacement because Hunter Brown's top three
- 50:30Speaker 1: in the American League. But I think the Astras are
- 50:33Speaker 1: going to be okay. I think it's going to be
- 50:34Speaker 1: a fight still, you know, with them and the Mariners.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I still have the Rangers a notch below them. Like
- 50:42Speaker 1: right now, if I'm teering that al West, I think
- 50:44Speaker 1: the Astros and the Mariners are up here, then I've
- 50:47Speaker 1: got the Rangers and then I've got the Angels.
- 50:49Speaker 2: In the A's even without Hunter Brown.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Even without Hunter Brown. If Hunter Brown's out the whole year,
- 50:55Speaker 1: it's different. If Hunter Brown misses let's say six weeks,
- 51:01Speaker 1: maybe a little bit more that I think they can
- 51:04Speaker 1: withstand that.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Okay, that's right. I just gotta have a question for you.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I just saw this.
- 51:09Speaker 2: The White Sox are playing right now, and it was
- 51:11Speaker 2: a three to two pitch and the runner stole. Sorry
- 51:13Speaker 2: this is not on topic, and I don't really care,
- 51:15Speaker 2: but I want to ask out this question because I
- 51:16Speaker 2: don't know the answer. And the runner stole from first
- 51:19Speaker 2: and he slowed down and it was called ball four,
- 51:21Speaker 2: and the umpire obviously was like, it's ball four, but
- 51:23Speaker 2: the White Sox guy tagged him out. What happens if
- 51:26Speaker 2: the hitter or the catcher goes boo boo boom boo
- 51:28Speaker 2: boo challenge and the hitter shuts it or the runner
- 51:31Speaker 2: shuts it down because he thinks it's ball four, but
- 51:34Speaker 2: then the call gets overturned. Is he is he considered
- 51:36Speaker 2: out even though he stopped thinking it was ball four.
- 51:39Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 51:40Speaker 2: That's a good question.
- 51:42Speaker 1: My guess is now, I mean, instead dead ball at
- 51:44Speaker 1: that point, because then you're reviewing it. So that's not
- 51:47Speaker 1: a thing, right.
- 51:48Speaker 2: I don't know, but he was. If the catcher comes up,
- 51:50Speaker 2: throws boom, the runner sees ball four, he stops what
- 51:53Speaker 2: you see all the time on ball four, and the
- 51:55Speaker 2: second baseman tags him even though he's not you know,
- 51:58Speaker 2: he's technically supposed to run through it. Is he considered out?
- 52:01Speaker 2: If they change it to strike three.
- 52:07Speaker 1: What do you think should happen? I mean, the rules
- 52:08Speaker 1: already start, I think, But.
- 52:10Speaker 2: If you're the catcher, you're like, man, I just hose
- 52:12Speaker 2: that dude a second and he's safe. He would have
- 52:15Speaker 2: been out if it wouldn't have been, if the Empire
- 52:17Speaker 2: would have got it right. I don't know. It's interesting.
- 52:19Speaker 2: This is why the automatic the automatic thing is interesting
- 52:22Speaker 2: because what happens if it's called ball four and the
- 52:24Speaker 2: catcher launches into center field and the guy keeps going
- 52:26Speaker 2: to third but it was called ball four, Well, that
- 52:29Speaker 2: sucks too for the catcher. How come they always do
- 52:30Speaker 2: these rules against the catchers.
- 52:33Speaker 1: I think they need you on the rules committee. You
- 52:35Speaker 1: would love the rules committee. What they do is you
- 52:37Speaker 1: get to talk about the rules and then they ultimately
- 52:40Speaker 1: don't really care what you say because the vote belongs
- 52:42Speaker 1: to the league, so they just take your input on
- 52:45Speaker 1: the rules. While we're on that really quick and I
- 52:49Speaker 1: side step for a moment too. Shane Smith for the
- 52:53Speaker 1: White Sox got optioned. What's the deal there? For the
- 52:56Speaker 1: All Star last year? The opening day starter? And I
- 52:59Speaker 1: know he had ther walk issues yesterday, but I mean,
- 53:02Speaker 1: you punched out eight, he didn't allow any runs. He
- 53:05Speaker 1: gave up one hit. Like, if you got to work
- 53:07Speaker 1: on the control, can't you work on that in a
- 53:09Speaker 1: bullpen session?
- 53:12Speaker 2: I don't know what to say on this was. This
- 53:14Speaker 2: was when I saw this come across, I was shocked.
- 53:16Speaker 2: I was like, wait a second, he's three starts. I mean,
- 53:19Speaker 2: as there is ten, he's got eight and a third.
- 53:21Speaker 2: He's got too many walks, true, but it's also been cold.
- 53:24Speaker 2: I don't know, he's got a lot of whip. He's
- 53:26Speaker 2: got a high whip. It seems like a short leash
- 53:29Speaker 2: for me. For somebody that was your opening day starter,
- 53:32Speaker 2: I mean you fall out of love with the guy
- 53:33Speaker 2: after three starts. I guarantee you can go through a
- 53:36Speaker 2: lot of guys careers and find some guys with three
- 53:39Speaker 2: starts that have had this in the middle of a season,
- 53:41Speaker 2: but it doesn't come up. So I don't know. I was,
- 53:44Speaker 2: I was surprised by this one. I mean, I don't know.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I don't know who they have, who they're calling up
- 53:49Speaker 2: to replace him, is the question. I mean, they start
- 53:51Speaker 2: tailor every game, so maybe he's going to be stretched
- 53:54Speaker 2: out into starter because he goes one inning like three
- 53:57Speaker 2: out of four games every time.
- 54:00Speaker 1: That's a weird one for me. I mean, to let
- 54:03Speaker 1: someone lose so quickly back down to the minors. He
- 54:05Speaker 1: was a role five picks that you couldn't do that
- 54:07Speaker 1: last year, but now you can do that because I.
- 54:08Speaker 2: Mean he made the All Star team last year. He
- 54:10Speaker 2: was your opening day starter, so you were you were
- 54:12Speaker 2: rewarded guy for a great year making the All Star team,
- 54:15Speaker 2: and say, hey, you're the opening day starter. Oh, by
- 54:17Speaker 2: the way, you get three starts and you're going to
- 54:19Speaker 2: triple A. It's again, I must say this in White
- 54:21Speaker 2: Sox fans. Don't get mad at me. But the White
- 54:24Speaker 2: Sox aren't gonna win the World Series this year. I'm sorry,
- 54:26Speaker 2: it's not going to happen. They're not going to win
- 54:28Speaker 2: the World Series. So if this is a guy you're
- 54:30Speaker 2: counting on for the next three four years. Don't you
- 54:32Speaker 2: want him to figure it out at the big league level?
- 54:34Speaker 2: He had three bad starts. What happens if his next
- 54:36Speaker 2: start he goes out and he shoves against whoever he
- 54:38Speaker 2: pitches against. We don't know that answer.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder if there's something else to the story here,
- 54:44Speaker 1: because that one just was not making a lot of
- 54:46Speaker 1: sense to a lot of people when they saw it
- 54:47Speaker 1: on social media this morning. And for the rest of you,
- 54:50Speaker 1: if you're placing tonight, good luck to you. Also, there's
- 54:53Speaker 1: an odds boost token that you might be able to
- 54:55Speaker 1: find in your bed MGM account to score a bigger payout.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Just add any MLB bet to your bet slip, activate
- 55:01Speaker 1: that token, lock it in. If the bet hits, you
- 55:03Speaker 1: cash out with an even bigger payout. Gambling problem, We're concerned.
- 55:06Speaker 1: There's help, call one eight hundred gambler. What more, We
- 55:14Speaker 1: still have more injuries to get to AJS. I know
- 55:18Speaker 1: we talked about Addison Barger having some ankle issues. They
- 55:21Speaker 1: officially placed him on the injured list. In the past
- 55:23Speaker 1: twenty four hours, we learned let's see about Alejandro Kirk's timetable,
- 55:29Speaker 1: which is about six weeks. There's a screw and his
- 55:32Speaker 1: thumb from surgery that they put in there. This is
- 55:35Speaker 1: the list at this point, I'm going to read it out.
- 55:36Speaker 1: So the Blue Jays injured list as of April seventh
- 55:39Speaker 1: to twenty twenty six, and all the players they've placed
- 55:41Speaker 1: on it in the last month. Alejandro Kirk, Anthony Santander,
- 55:46Speaker 1: Addison Barger, Jose Berrios, Shane Bieber, Boden Francis, Cody Ponce,
- 55:51Speaker 1: Trey Savage, Mimy Garcia.
- 55:53Speaker 2: Whoa, it's a lot. By the way, Uh, Barger's ankle
- 56:01Speaker 2: was like this big normally this big. It was like
- 56:05Speaker 2: this big. I don't know, it was huge. I didn't
- 56:08Speaker 2: see it, but I heard all about it from uh
- 56:11Speaker 2: the Blue Jays people, Hazel May Shulman, the Shulman, the
- 56:14Speaker 2: Shulman family.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Uh.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Cale Joseph works for them. By the way, I will
- 56:21Speaker 2: say this, I went to Toronto. I had not seen
- 56:22Speaker 2: the new stadium. Good job Blue Jays, Good job Blue Jays.
- 56:27Speaker 2: You guys crushed it. And I got to dance. I
- 56:30Speaker 2: got to do the Blue Jay dance on Monday night
- 56:33Speaker 2: in a boring game. So that was that made my night.
- 56:36Speaker 2: What's the dance, Let's go Jay's and you're like, let's
- 56:41Speaker 2: play all mm hmm, and then they do something like.
- 56:48Speaker 3: I don't think y m c a ish.
- 56:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's good. All the all the all the
- 56:52Speaker 2: Toronto fans know it, so it's good they do it
- 56:54Speaker 2: in the seventh inning stretch.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Good.
- 56:57Speaker 1: It's a good time.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Toronto, Toronto, and you wouln't understand, Scott.
- 57:01Speaker 1: I've been. I haven't been for the new park, but
- 57:03Speaker 1: I used to go.
- 57:04Speaker 2: We used to do a lot of nice, nice job
- 57:06Speaker 2: on that place. Man, it's not even the same thing.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It is high up on the list. I liked it
- 57:11Speaker 1: when it was there the way it was, so I
- 57:14Speaker 1: can only imagine if they've sweetened it up what it
- 57:16Speaker 1: looks like. So I'm excited to check it out. And lastly,
- 57:19Speaker 1: it is not sweet Caroline in Boston. So the team's
- 57:22Speaker 1: off to a bad start, although they did pull off
- 57:24Speaker 1: a much needed win last night. A couple of injury updates.
- 57:27Speaker 1: First off, Tristan Cassis tried to swing it did not
- 57:30Speaker 1: go well. He is going to go for imaging, according
- 57:32Speaker 1: to Alex Korra. So that was just a continuation of
- 57:35Speaker 1: what's going on with Cassis. It's not good. I know
- 57:39Speaker 1: we mentioned it already the other day. It I'm not
- 57:40Speaker 1: going to beat it down, but they're not relying on
- 57:43Speaker 1: him right now. Johann Oviedo has a flexer strain and
- 57:46Speaker 1: he has shut down for six weeks. That's probably why
- 57:49Speaker 1: Kratz left the show early today. AJ. That is a
- 57:52Speaker 1: tough blow for the Red Sox. They traded for Ovieda.
- 57:56Speaker 1: They were really excited about picking him up. They thought
- 57:58Speaker 1: that they were going to unlock some thing with him.
- 58:00Speaker 1: They still might, but now they're gonna have to wait
- 58:02Speaker 1: a while.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Yeah, this sucks, and Crats is the most upset about
- 58:08Speaker 2: this more than anybody because Oviedo, as we all know it,
- 58:10Speaker 2: is his favorite player, the castest thing on the castest
- 58:17Speaker 2: thing is just like whatever, dude like, he hasn't played
- 58:20Speaker 2: in so long now, I don't even know. I don't
- 58:22Speaker 2: even know what's wrong with him at this point. So
- 58:23Speaker 2: someone's gonna have to keep me up on why he
- 58:25Speaker 2: needed imaging in the first place. But the Oviedo thing
- 58:28Speaker 2: was a guy they were really counting on to maybe
- 58:29Speaker 2: be a late a back end starter or a multiple
- 58:32Speaker 2: innings guy to their bullpen. So to lose him for
- 58:34Speaker 2: six weeks. Anytime they say forearms train, you get worried
- 58:37Speaker 2: about the next one, which is the Tommy John. You know,
- 58:41Speaker 2: it's the Red Sox and just one thing. It seems
- 58:44Speaker 2: like one thing after the other for the Red Sox
- 58:48Speaker 2: and no matter what they do. I love Craig Breslo
- 58:50Speaker 2: as a guy and as a teammate, but it seems
- 58:52Speaker 2: like no matter what he tries, it hasn't worked so far.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Other than the Crochet trade and signing.
- 58:58Speaker 1: That has worked brilliantly. That is true, yes, and some
- 59:01Speaker 1: younger players from the last regime that have looked really good.
- 59:05Speaker 2: It's got box too. I don't know how much time
- 59:07Speaker 2: we have, but uh, speaking of the Red Sox, we
- 59:10Speaker 2: didn't get we didn't get talk about the Wilson Contreras
- 59:12Speaker 2: thing because I wasn't on go for it. But when's
- 59:17Speaker 2: the last time you saw a player come out and
- 59:18Speaker 2: say I'm gonna get somebody, meaning like I'm gonna really
- 59:21Speaker 2: get somebody and then they do it and then they
- 59:25Speaker 2: literally like literally karate kicked was it Hamilton and the
- 59:29Speaker 2: shin which is not cool. Now. Now, back in the
- 59:32Speaker 2: day you got hit. You look at the second basement
- 59:35Speaker 2: and short sign and be like, I'm coming for you, dude,
- 59:37Speaker 2: because I just got smoked to watch out. And they
- 59:40Speaker 2: knew and they knew how to get out of the way.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Guys aren't used to getting out of the way now.
- 59:43Speaker 2: And he went in there hard and and he got
- 59:46Speaker 2: in and mis punched him out and told him. You know,
- 59:48Speaker 2: he said some things we can't say on television. I
- 59:51Speaker 2: just you just don't see this anymore. That's what I
- 59:53Speaker 2: was so surprised about it. And his brothers on the
- 59:56Speaker 2: other team, and you got Murph yelling at him, and
- 59:58Speaker 2: you got this is good, man, this is good for
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: the game.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: I like it.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Now they don't play again for another year.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: But I like this.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Yeah, it is good juice right, it's you wish it
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: was within the division. You're not going to really get
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: to see this.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: When have you seen a guy what did he say?
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: He's like, I'm going to go get him or what
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: ad conturer say?
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: He's like he said that post game, so that within
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: the game though he did it.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but he was still like, if they
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: hit me again, I'm going to go get someone else.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: He's like, exactly messing around. I'm not messing around here.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: This is a lot of people saying that he needs
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: to be suspended, including Eric Kratz, who had a little
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: bit of virality yesterday on social media when he called
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: for that because you're threatening, and he was alluding to
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: how Cole Hammils did that years back and then hit
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Bryce Harper and he got suspended. So for president, do
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: you think do you think that he should be and
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: do you think that he will? For me? I don't
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: think he should be.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I don't think I don't think he will. Listen, he
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: got smoked for the how many of her times? Until
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: you've stood in the box and gotten hit by a pitch,
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: you don't realize how mad you are at the time.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: And then you have no repercussion as a position player
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: because the pitcher don't hit anymore. So you can't tell
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: your picture to go throw the picture after he hits you, right,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: and so your only recourse now is to try to
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: You can't run over the catcher anymore, and you really
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: can't honestly go get the second basement anymore. So you're
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: just pissed, and I get Listen, say what you want
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: about Wilson Trevors. He plays with his emotions and when
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: he gets REVVD, it's hard to take him off that
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: red line. So I don't know, I don't have I
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: didn't really have as big of a problem as this.
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: I actually thought it was great. It was finally we
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: got some action.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: Yeah, wake the team up, because they're off to a
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: slow start too. But with Wilson, I mean, I think
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: a lot of the pent up frustration had to do
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: with the past. With that particular case, I mean, he's
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: on the plate, they're pitching up and in like it
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: did They certainly weren't going after him in that case, like,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: oh yeah, I'm Brandon WOODRIF and I want to load
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: the bases right now.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: And go after and see here's my thing. If you
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: didn't do what or hey, slur, did you got a
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: problem with Brandon Woodrow. He hits you all the time.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: There's sixty feet six inches between you, and go and
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: get him. He beat Go get him. That's it. Go
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: get him, cheezy, go get again, Go get him. It's
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: not gonna happen again because they don't play each other
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: for another year. Now, go get him. If you're that mad,
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: you know what you should have done. He should have
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: his brother was catching. He should have just fought his
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: brother and then they could have talked about it at Thanksgiving.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: That would be fun. It's a it's the one time
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: as an adult you can just completely brawl it out
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: with a family member and not get arrested. So there's
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: that if you would like to do that, exactly right.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Let's finish on a on a high note, on a
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: nicer note, So let's slap. I had two things aja
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: thirty seconds each. Let's start with Skip Schumacher, who's a
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: great dude getting some fan participation. Here a young kid
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: who was on the field for early BP, and he
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: let him come on on the field and help him
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: out as he was hitting fungos. Pretty cool.
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Love this love fan interaction. Love any chance you get,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: Skip cats it, Skip gets it and we know this
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: and it was pretty cool moment. This kid will never
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: ever forget this moment.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that way to go, Skip. Awesome and all captured
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: to show everyone on social media. And then we had
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: seventy seven cent dog night.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: Oh so mad I wasn't there, So mad I believe it.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: You missed that over one hundred thousand of them sold.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: That number was from the seventh inning and they still
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: obviously finished out the game with I'm sure more they
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: probably ended up at like one twenty five k. It
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: was to celebrate their inaugural season back in nineteen seventy seven.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Seventy seven cents? How much is a hot dog regularly?
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Do you think at the parts there eight to.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: Ten dollars at least?
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: No more? I love this, so youse seventy seven cents
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: they bought sold one hundred thousand hot dogs. That's got
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: to be some kind of record. It's got to be
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: some kind of.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm sure the margins are still excellent. It's
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: not costing much to is.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: That Canadian seventy seven cents or America?
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: It is?
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: And I actually know because we work with one sponsor
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: on another show when it's an exchange rate thing, So
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I know right now that Canadian dollar matched up against
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: the US dollars actually better than it's been for a while.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: So take that for what it is. I don't really
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: understand a lot of it, but it is Canadian dollars.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: So seventy seven cents what is that in US dollars?
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: I'm not going to be able to ask my AI
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: in time, So.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: That's not even a looney. That's not even a looney.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: It's definitely not a tuny. What does that mean, You've
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: never You've never been to Canada. Yeah, so they're one
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: they're one dollars or loonies and they have a loon
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: on them, and the tunis are two dollars coins, so
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: they call them loonies and tonies.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I'm a cashless guy, I'm a credit card guy.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Got to keep up, bro, You're the reason they got
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: rid of pennies. It's all you.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Oh, it is definitely me. I'm campaigning to get rid
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: of nichols and quarters two.
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: What about dimes? You love dying?
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I love that. I love me a good time.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: It's dime bags.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Yeah,
