- 0:01Speaker 2: My name is Brady Drake.
- 0:02Speaker 1: There's Go. She is massive on TikTok, over eleven million followers,
- 0:07Speaker 1: named the Australian TikTok Creator of the Year, and she
- 0:10Speaker 1: is Brady Drake. We have a live in the studio now.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Good morning, good morning, Oh my god. I have so
- 0:16Speaker 2: many questions.
- 0:18Speaker 3: First of all, I know it can get really hectic
- 0:20Speaker 3: and overwhelming, but.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Amy is also an influencer.
- 0:24Speaker 2: No are you in the grand scheme of things? Even
- 0:28Speaker 2: million crazy?
- 0:30Speaker 3: And I can't even go to a local westfield without
- 0:33Speaker 3: being stopped, mostly by mums because it's a lot of
- 0:35Speaker 3: mum content.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well it used to be. I can't imagine. Can you
- 0:38Speaker 2: even walk down the street without being stopped?
- 0:40Speaker 4: Actually not really anymore, which is crazy, Like I can't
- 0:43Speaker 4: even comprehend it. I just because I'm a girl from
- 0:46Speaker 4: woy Woy and I'm like, what people actually watch me?
- 0:48Speaker 1: So Central Coast, New South Wales. Tell us how it
- 0:51Speaker 1: all started? Then? I mean, eleven million followers And it
- 0:55Speaker 1: wasn't on purpose, was it?
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:56Speaker 2: It was it just organic. It just happened accidentally.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Back in twenty nine, I just posted a video and
- 1:01Speaker 4: it went viral and I got hooked. I love making videos,
- 1:04Speaker 4: so I turned my hobby into my career.
- 1:06Speaker 1: When it was the first video, I was.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Me and my best friend Jinny, and I kind of
- 1:11Speaker 4: lied in the video, probably shouldn't have. I was like,
- 1:13Speaker 4: she's from South Korea and I'm from Australia and we
- 1:15Speaker 4: traveled the world together.
- 1:16Speaker 2: She lived an hour away from me. But it went
- 1:19Speaker 2: viral so good, and it was like my career was
- 1:21Speaker 2: built off a line.
- 1:21Speaker 4: And I'm just kidding.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I had I did a video and same thing probably
- 1:25Speaker 3: around twenty nineteen as well, went viral, and it was
- 1:28Speaker 3: literally like me taking the piss.
- 1:30Speaker 2: It was this thing that I had thought up of,
- 1:32Speaker 2: like why don't you dress really nice at home? Because
- 1:34Speaker 2: obviously I'm a home.
- 1:35Speaker 3: With three kids under the age of four, so I
- 1:37Speaker 3: look like garbage every day. And it was just me
- 1:40Speaker 3: taking the piss out of like cleaning the toilets and bringing.
- 1:43Speaker 2: In the washing but dressed up. And it got like
- 1:45Speaker 2: nineteen million.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's just so good. Random videos just go
- 1:49Speaker 3: viral and then that's it. You put on the map.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, you can't really pick it right.
- 1:54Speaker 4: No, I just brought my personality into every video. And
- 1:56Speaker 4: people were like, oh, she's kind of cool. Sometimes it's
- 2:00Speaker 4: so real and relatable. Yeah, I've how to look at
- 2:02Speaker 4: your videos.
- 2:02Speaker 3: And then didn't you kind of get even more traction
- 2:05Speaker 3: when you started doing up old homes?
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah? I went to the outback Broken Hill and started
- 2:10Speaker 4: renovating homes with my dad twenty one.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, so why outback Broken Hill?
- 2:17Speaker 4: Well, my mum is actually from the outback, and so
- 2:19Speaker 4: I did a little trip out there and I was like,
- 2:21Speaker 4: I love this place. And now, funny enough is like
- 2:24Speaker 4: I go out there to retreat and to like rEFInd
- 2:26Speaker 4: myself because like city life gets a bit too hectic sometimes,
- 2:29Speaker 4: so I'm like, Broken Hill is my safe place.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Did it ever start becoming a little bit too much?
- 2:34Speaker 3: Because I know when you do grow so quickly and rapidly,
- 2:38Speaker 3: and all of these offers and these opportunities come for
- 2:40Speaker 3: you and you want to kind of jump on them
- 2:41Speaker 3: because you're like maybe they won't come around a second time.
- 2:44Speaker 2: But then, did you ever feel like pressure to constantly
- 2:47Speaker 2: show up online? And did that have a toll on
- 2:49Speaker 2: you at any time?
- 2:50Speaker 4: It wasn't necessarily like pressure to make videos. I love
- 2:53Speaker 4: that and I'll do that for the rest of my life.
- 2:54Speaker 4: It was more so I got a lot of anxiety
- 2:57Speaker 4: through it because I didn't know how to handle it.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I feel at home by myself with my phone, and
- 3:02Speaker 4: then I've kind of just been like shoved into the
- 3:04Speaker 4: spotlight and I didn't know how to handle it properly,
- 3:06Speaker 4: and so I got a lot of anxiety from that.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Was that the comments and dms and stuff. Is that
- 3:10Speaker 1: nasty stuff you were getting?
- 3:12Speaker 2: There was?
- 3:12Speaker 4: But I also have the best online community in the world,
- 3:15Speaker 4: so I just stick to my own followers on like,
- 3:17Speaker 4: I'm not reading anyone else unless they know me.
- 3:19Speaker 2: It's just like going everywhere and being recognized.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I felt like I didn't know how to handle that
- 3:23Speaker 4: at first, yep, But now I've kind of I've kind
- 3:25Speaker 4: of got my grasp on it, and I love it.
- 3:27Speaker 4: It's the best thing.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Tell us about this docu series that you're doing with
- 3:30Speaker 3: Stan What is it? Just? Is it about your life
- 3:33Speaker 3: and what you've got going on?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's called pure average.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty much behind the scene, look onto how to
- 3:39Speaker 4: navigate a world that I kind of got shoved into
- 3:43Speaker 4: in the best way possible. So it's behind I just
- 3:46Speaker 4: let people in a little bit deeper and closer, and
- 3:48Speaker 4: it talks about self worth and body image. And you know,
- 3:51Speaker 4: I go through a little bit of a heartbreak on
- 3:52Speaker 4: the on the show as well, and you don't see
- 3:55Speaker 4: his face. But then directly after the show finished, I
- 3:58Speaker 4: met a lovely, sweet, beautiful man who I'm dating. Now.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Okay, so my key has a few videos that he's
- 4:04Speaker 3: been putting up on his socials, right, we just want
- 4:07Speaker 3: to get your feedback on how he could potentially improve.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Does he have what it takes to become an influencer.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I mean, I've been a radio guy in my life, right,
- 4:15Speaker 1: so this this stuff doesn't come naturally to me. This
- 4:18Speaker 1: is me swimming.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Fisherman and he's been caught. Yeah, you know what.
- 4:31Speaker 4: I think you're the next You're the next big thing.
- 4:35Speaker 2: To him. I need your autograph before I leave. Please
- 4:38Speaker 2: that it's terrible.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I love your lies, Brian. You can see a being herself.
- 4:43Speaker 1: No lies, pure average is out now only on stand.
