Transcript
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome to Cheesy Popcorn.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_01]: I am your co-host, not your host, co-host.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: And of our, and I'm joined by my very good friend and comrades and arms, Mr. Chris Miles.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_00]: But if he keeps this up, he might just be the host.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, everybody, welcome to episode number this is the next ring.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Does he know?
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: Does he know?
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's the 9th.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's episode 39, and the episode is going to be about worse directors.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: So that'll be an interesting mix to see the things that you have come up with first of the release one that we've both agreed on.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: Probably, but if you're going to mention him first, I'm going to pull it off of my list.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Because there's no sense in both of us mentioning it.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: He is probably the quintessential, when you think of worst directors of all time.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: But that's okay that we agree.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: So worse that they actually did a movie about it, which is actually really good.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it wasn't Johnny Depp, the thought Johnny Depp was the lead in that movie.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was an older actor, it wasn't Johnny Depp.
- 1:22[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, but it was Martin.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we'll get to that a little bit later.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Mall, I don't think so.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to that a little bit later.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: First, as we do on every single show, we talk about the movies that are coming out this weekend, we review a movie that we solve that came out from last week.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, we'll get to the main topic, which is worst director.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: So while NMR is looking up the actor who played,
- 1:49[SPEAKER_00]: this particular worst director will get to the list of movies.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: So the first one that's coming out this weekend is called Backrooms which is like a horror movie.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I shouldn't say like a horror movie it is a horror movie but they're calling it a horror movie that's unlike other horror movies because it just goes back to basics and I'm just going to say this it basically looks boring.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So moving on, the next one is pressure, which is what I would call like a historical war movie, which revolves around, I think it's 72 hours before D-Day, and the instances that happened before and why there was, quote, unquote, pressure to go to D-Day.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: And then last but not least, these, by the way, are all coming in theaters, only is the bread winner, which is the only comedy of the bunch.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: And each single author's only three movies that are coming out this week.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's because people don't want to compete with Star Wars, the Mandalorian, and Grogu, or maybe even Mortal Kombat II, because it's still doing good.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if Michael was much of a competition to either one of the two of them.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really think Michael is like a summer blockbuster movie.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Well, when I was standing in line, I'd say 80% of the people bought Michael tickets.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow, wow.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Good for that.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: And as you know, there weren't a lot of people in our theater.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Our theater was about half full.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Or it could have been half empty, depending on how you look at it.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, you're the one who had nine people in your row, so.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I had six.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, you had seven.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you count it correctly.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: You can't count the weapon.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't counting the weapon unless you're now a weapon.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know about that.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know about that.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: But someone did.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, anyway.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: We'd like to see that as we move on.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: He likes to sit in the front row, folks.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: Like the front row where you have the little, the little banisters so that you can put your, your feet up, but he doesn't understand it.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Anyone that's over the, the height of five eight would be extremely uncomfortable in those seats because there's nowhere to go.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so moving on, those are the movies that are come out in theaters.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Again.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: Backwards, back rooms, I'm sorry, back rooms.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I said it looks like a massively boring horror movie.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: It looks really like dumb.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like it really crosses a lot of lines.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: It just, so, okay, if we're gonna break it down what the movie based the horror aspect of the movie,
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's gonna plan people have claustrophobia.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I came up with.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it plays on people who would like to go to escape rooms.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: And this is like the ultimate, okay, danger when you go to an escape.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: This is the ultimate escape room movie, I think.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: But you don't get out apparently.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: That's kind of not what I took away from it.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I took away from it like the real world coming through into like a single room and the room was able to evolve and move around and create all kinds of other corridors and all that kind of stuff.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, philosophical, I don't...
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: Either way, they said it was trying to get back to horror basics, and I said it looks like it's basically boring, so there Yeah, I just don't think it's my cup of tea, but so why are we wasting precious vocal time I'm talking about a movie that we don't?
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: Someone else want to like it.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, if you like it leave a comment in the comment section, because I can't see anybody who would like this game.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_00]: So pressure
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: I talked about pressure as well, too, but this is all like you were looking up who played this particular background.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say it because why, oh, I was, yes, who was it?
- 5:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was Johnny.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, look at that.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_01]: Directed it.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: So who knows their move?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: Who's directed at it?
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't remember.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_00]: And we're talking about directors today.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't know who directed it.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because when I think of bad directors, I don't think of bad director.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think of the director of that movie as a bad director Okay, so pressure you don't have a presence of the audience.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting you continue your thing about leaving the audience in the dark So that they'll have to go to Google just like you had to do because it'll make him hear a comment Like hey, what was Ann of our talking about?
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: I won't make him leave comments.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: It'll make him walk away
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: that could happen.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: The point of the show is to get them the information, which clearly you don't want to do.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I said, so when we were talking about the movies that the three main movies, and there's literally the only movies that are coming out in theaters this week, by the way, there are some limited releases, but again, we don't usually talk about them on the show because
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: We're not sure if they're going to be in your area, right?
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: But these are going to be in the area.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: But these are the three main, these are the only movies that are really coming out this week.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's because of Star Wars from last week.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody wants to compete with that.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I kind of agree.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about pressure.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Pressure seems like it's a movie that you're going to want to go see, because it's all about the three days before the day.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I like Brendan Fraser.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I, I, okay.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Anthony Morris is the director.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: He did Hotel Mombai, which was an excellent film.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: So, okay.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I'm looking for something really good here from Anthony.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: I may call him later.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: You may be disappointed.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think so.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think this will be looks like a, can you either be good or it could be a flop.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: I like period pieces.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: I can't start to fuck up a period.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard to mess up a period piece.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you do it right and you have the
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: You have to have the right locations in the right costume.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: You need the right tampons for a period piece.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: That's really what you mean.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the way.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: And we got that out.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: Moving on.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead with a bread winner.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: But wait.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Nightbark Nazi.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Just in case you wanted to know, folks, this is part of the review.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because I already talked about all these movies.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: But clearly, he wants to go back over them.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: Are you not just filmed of you?
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I know.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: It's just filmed.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Mandy Moore's in it.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I know, Mandy Moore's in it.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Kume on that nangini?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Colin Jost.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Colin Jost.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: What is it?
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: Host?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Who?
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know Colin Jost said in it in that life?
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying it right.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the guy that's married to the kind of Jonathan.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Right, exactly.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: They get their ups and downs too, I'm sure.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying right.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: You want to buy a million dollar vote, she wants to buy a two million
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: Some people have a big argument.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: She's got the money for it.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: So can we move on now?
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: Since we already reviewed all the movies that I already talked about, I do like Kumeil Nangiani.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: He's very funny.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: So, but here's my one comment.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to see that one.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to see both pressure and that one.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Here's, I'm not a huge Nate Bargazzi fan.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's got this show now, the average American, if you're seeing that talk show?
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of fun, but it's kind of, I don't know.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's okay, but I'm not nuts about him.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: The premise looks pretty cool.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see how it turns out.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and this is another one of those movies that I think is just going to be in.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what I'm thinking.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: I think pressure is going to be better.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: So if I had a choice between two, I'd say pressure for this show, but I'll probably go see breadwinner with dors.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because she wants to see in the previous and like now that's a movie.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we'll probably go see that.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so also, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_00]: Also coming out for streaming is a brand new releases for streaming platforms only and that's looks Right, are you gonna keep guessing or are you just gonna let me give the information you can give the information okay apple TV propeller one way night coach which was written and directed by
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: See, he doesn't even know, John Travolta.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and you know his love for airplanes.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: That's not John Travolta.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's the Beegees.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: But that's from his movie.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but that's not John Travolta.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't sing that song?
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: No, he didn't sing that.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: So let's stay on one another.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: Let's stay on the focus.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's not from the same movie.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: No, but that's he's saying that that's about the only time he's saying and that should be the last time He sings, but anyway, that's good.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't need to sing move it on.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a nice voice moving on Because nobody cares what you think about his voice on HBO Max.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, miss you love you
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: I saw something about that, but I don't have HBO Max, I just have to see a preview on that one.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we know.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm under the fixed income, cause I know you're under fixed income, which is why I tend to do some of these streaming movies because I know you can't do that, correct?
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: So, I might, I-
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: Brad winner to me just look like it's gonna be and pressure could be one way or the other.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a big history movie guy.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_00]: I know Some of them are good.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: Some of them are just okay, but So I might pick one of these two and review them propeller one way night coach looks kind of interesting
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: Just from the previews, I know it doesn't sound like it's a thing, but it's like a kid in his fascination with airplanes and kind of like his how he grows up and all that kind of stuff.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: And this one way trip that he takes on a night coach airplane that's like from the East Coast to the West Coast.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds kind of interesting.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, we'll see, I might go see breadwinner because that's probably about the only other movie.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: That's about the only movie playing in theaters that I'm even remotely interested in.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know if I'm going to waste five bucks on it.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: So I will see.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: But we do have movies that we're going to review.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to get a review of pressure.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: Or we're going to get a review of breadwinner.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe a review of one of these two streaming We're going to review pressure.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: So you have committed to pressure.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm committed to pressure.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Work best on the pressure.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Bullshit.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so the one thing that we did agree on was we were going to see the same movie for this week
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: So we went and we saw Star Wars, the Mandalorian, and Grogo.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_00]: We even went to the same theater at the same time.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: At the same time.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not the same time.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Not the same.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Next to each other though.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, we can't sit next to each other.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: People will talk.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, they look good you and say, I should have recorded the phone call that you made to me before we went to go see this movie.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway,
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: You want to go that route?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: I see.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, yeah, there was a phone call.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what time are you going to see the movie?
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I like to sit up in the front row.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: So I could put my feet up on the bar and bubble bubble.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: So make sure you get it taken up in the front row because that's what I'm going to do.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: And the whole time in my head, I'm going right.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to stand in probably one of the longest lines because it's a Star Wars movie.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you're going to just get your ticket.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I went ahead online, like I always do.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: I don't mind paying the extra dollar, or whatever it is, to get the thing online on the half of my seat already set up.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: But the funny thing is, is that I picked a row that there was nobody in and then there ended up being like four or five people in my row, aside from me, whereas your row already had like six people in it.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was the first one in my row.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Of course you were.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: And then there were only six of us in the row.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: Of course you were a couple, but you had two men to learn.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then two men to learn.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there were three at the, I think there were three totally dressed up.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_01]: There were either three men to learn.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: There were either, I think there were four people on the far end.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the spirit.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think you had eight total if I'm being honest.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I got to do a rant before.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: So did you get hit with the spear?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: Is that what you walked in?
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: When you walked in, you had your ticket digitally.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: You saw the line in the lobby, correct?
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: There was one cash here.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: One cash here.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_00]: So all of a sudden, by the way, folks, this is absolutely nothing to do with the movie.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_00]: Just so you know, so if you want to read, if you want to fast forward, probably fast forward for the next five minutes, because you probably going to go on about five minutes.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_00]: Go pee.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's not five minutes.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: So if you
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's five minutes.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's start the time operation.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you picture a cashier all the way to the right of the lobby and then there's a booth in the middle for a cashier and then there's a far end booth at the other end of the lobby.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: So this is big long line.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's only one cashier.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: She's working really hard in doing a great job getting people through quickly.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: However, some guy from the theater decided to open another register, which was smart.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Except, they took the very last booth.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: which meant that the people who were waiting 10 minutes in line at the which was the front of the line.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: Those people that just walked in and got and went back to the line went to that register and also became the front of the line and got in ahead of us, which is just wrong in my opinion.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: He should have seen the situation, and then he should have opened the booth closer to the other cashier, and through his little speaker that they have said, who is next in line?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: Not, let's start from the bag of the line and let everybody in that just got here.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's my rant.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_00]: Batman.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: You feel better.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: You may go first that you just wasted like 55 seconds.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was like 30.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you actually a 51.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: 99, but I didn't start it when you started your answer.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's about 55 seconds.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's nice.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: So 55 seconds of nothing except for you renting about how somebody opened the window.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: A register.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: Whatever.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Not fair to make people who are last become first.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things about this world that are not fair.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: There's two things.
- 15:27[SPEAKER_01]: You make go first on the Mandalorian, sir.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: All right, and I will cease to speak.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: No, you won't.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: You'll interject.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like you always do, you just see you just did.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: All right, so I'm going to start this off with I am a child of Star Wars.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: That means I saw Star Wars for the very first time in the movie theaters in like the 70s, early 80s.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I've been a fan of Star Wars since then.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: So I grew up as a kid, not saying that you haven't.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_00]: But what I'm saying is I was a kid when Star Wars came out.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_00]: They're big, big reference here.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a reason why I'm saying that because a lot of critics like to say a lot of things about a lot of the different Star Wars movies.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_00]: and some of them are right some of them I mean everyone's entitled to their own opinion so there is no right or wrong because it's your opinion right and that's just what it is your opinion may not agree with mine my opinion may not agree with yours but I say all that or the fact that I am a Star Wars fan from the beginning just to say that I was pleasantly surprised with Star Wars the Mandalorian and Groku I came in with a thinking it's probably going to be just as bad as season three was
- 16:31[SPEAKER_00]: of the Mandalorian because I thought the first two seasons were great.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_00]: The third season I was kind of like you're struggling here.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_00]: But I will say this.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_00]: The movie felt like three episodes of the Mandalorian all put together just to make this story.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_00]: It felt like they just chained a bunch of like bounty hunts together into one, two hour and I think it's 12 minutes long.
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: Episode to do what it did.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_00]: However,
- 16:58[SPEAKER_00]: It worked.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_00]: It was entertaining.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_00]: I was very entertained by a couple of things.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_00]: The relationship between the Mandalorian and Grogu, I thought was entertaining.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: I was also entertained by the first appearance, at least as a live action appearance, of Mbro.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_00]: And for those of you that are Star Wars nerds, you know exactly what I'm talking about, for those of you that are not Star Wars nerds, Mbro is the other bounty hunter that's featured in this movie.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, that's a spoiler alert.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: However, if you know the body hunters, you know who Embrow is, he's the one with the hat that looks like the hat from the guy from Mortal Kombat.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: Shanksu, I think his name is, but I can't remember if I've thought my head.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so that was kind of cool for me because I was like, oh, wow, cool.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: It's another bounty hunter.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_00]: And as you can imagine, stuff does happen between the two of them.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm going to say.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: Other than that, I, another thing that I thought was really cool is that job, this is a spoiler, or by the way, job with the hot sun is featured in the movie.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I like the fact that he does something that you're not expecting in the do.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: I also like his interaction with the grogu.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like a weird father-son uncle, like Lord Sith Lord Jedi Master, father-son kind of weird thing.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting, and it's entertaining.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very interested, that part of the storyline was very interesting to me, and I thought it was really good.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_00]: If not cliche, I guess, a little bit, because of the way it holds the whole thing started.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not going to get into any more details, because I feel like I've already done a lot of that.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_00]: But here's why I say that.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: There are a lot of people out there who have said that they're comparing this relationship similar to the return of the Jedi's situation.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I said I was a kid growing up because to me return to the Jedi was probably one of the greatest of the three movies.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Although now as an adult, I say empire was a little bit better.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably one of the only sequels in my mind that really actually worked very well.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_00]: Usually sequels are not that great.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I thought empire strikes back was great.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: However, the Ewoks.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_00]: were amazing, and a lot of people, a lot of critics are like, all the U.S. were just really dumb.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_00]: They weren't, they didn't need to be there and everything like that.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_00]: And I disagree.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think, Grogu now proves that point even more because of how popular he is.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: And then also his four little buddies that were in there, Babu fork and the gang as well, who are little, like, monkey mechanics, so to speak.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: So there's all that the storyline it was interesting.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: It moved along.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_00]: I don't I do feel like
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: About three quarters of the way in, it started to get a little slow, but before that I feel like it, it's been through pretty well.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: I wanna, or work that a nice pace.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: The special effects are great.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're exactly what you would expect.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't usually talk about soundtracks, but I will talk about this soundtrack.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was great.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was modernized, and I appreciated that because there were a couple of songs in the soundtrack that I thought were really good.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: Kind of cluby is a vibe, so to speak, as well.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_00]: So that was kind of cool.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: So much so that I actually,
- 20:06[SPEAKER_00]: What did I do?
- 20:07[SPEAKER_00]: I forget the name of the app, but so much so that I actually pulled up the app.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_00]: I shizam the song in the middle of the movie theater, which is one of the things that I like to do when I like a song.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_00]: cinematography, good.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_00]: The action's really good.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_00]: I love the puppeteering and the things that he did with Grogu.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm interested to see where this story goes.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_00]: I really want to know, I think a lot of us want to know more about Grogu.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_00]: I really think that's what it boils down to.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: But,
- 20:32[SPEAKER_00]: other than that I think it's a great movie.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's funny when you look at the ratings on rotten tomatoes like they don't they're not very good.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think they gave them like a 63% and like if you look at like popcorn which is the one that a lot of people go to or like non-critics go to they gave it like an 89%.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to give it like a 7.5
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think it's great.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think Ludwig, uh, Gorason score, uh, keeps the classic Star Wars magical live and also modernize it as well.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and it's, it's a fun movie.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think it's family friendly.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Grogu Factor plays huge in the movie.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's probably the big angle to it.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, and it was interesting to see the way that they, uh,
- 21:20[SPEAKER_00]: They had the Mandalorian work through the entire thing and an odd to some older Star Wars as ships and equipment and stuff like that.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_00]: So overall, like I said, seven and a half.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_00]: And surprisingly enough, all he said was the first two words before I started talking.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: So like big applause to you.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: You see the flat line big applause to you for actually not talking over me during my review So Okay, good job So we went to a 730 show like we said wasn't sold out
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: about half, it was like paper about half, including, like we said, the four, the two mandalorians who were there with helmets and little weapons and stuff, although I thought only one of them was fully dressed up.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Only one was fully dressed up, but the other one had a helmet too.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Initially, I thought the helmet was, they were given popcorn away in a helmet, like they sometimes do, but that was nothing.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_01]: And to be honest with you, I had forgotten that people dressed up for movies
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, I love Pedro Pascal, but I'm not sure this was a role for him.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_01]: It was until he took his helmet off, it was kind of okay, but once he took his helmet off, you clearly have not seen any of the episodes of the Mandalorian.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is he the Mandalorian?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: He has been the Mandalorian through the entirety of that.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I never, I didn't see any of that and I didn't, I didn't like him in the, in the, in the stretchy guy.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: Fantastic.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Four.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: I remember we, we, we, we reviewed that too.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Here's a question.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: And just when I was looking at the credits, I didn't understand why George Lucas wasn't part of the production producer team here at all.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: Just all I said was based on characters by George Lucas.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because he's not part of it anymore.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_00]: He hasn't been for quite a few years.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Ever since it got sold Disney, he took his hands off of it.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I just don't.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's what was missing for me was the George Lucas touch.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: For me, there were too many huts.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_00]: Wait a second, and I'm sorry.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_00]: Cause now I'm the one that's interrupting you all the time.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: Did you see the last three Star Wars movies?
- 23:46[SPEAKER_00]: Not a 789?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, then that explains a lot.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Lucas is not been involved since last.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know, I just since six.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: Well, three, if you want to be technical, because I would have been the last release.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think there was just, and here's what I think was missing.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's, I'm coming up to that.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they were like huts heavy, whereas like a little Tahitian village huts here, huts there, huts there, the twins.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: All that stuff, too much for me.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_00]: Spoiler alert on the twins.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, too much for me.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the effects were definitely equal to the task.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Effects are great.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: The fighters coming out of the cat, the, what did he call it?
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't call it a castle, they called it something else.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: Where the twins are, when they come out through the holes, and then the wings unfold, cool effects, cool effects.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I don't understand what purpose Grogu had here.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: Other than just, he's cute, and people would laugh whenever he did something cute.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he looks like Yoda, so I'm assuming that he is either related to Yoda or becomes Yoda, but he didn't have any of Yoda's fighting ability or powers except for one or two times in the movie.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's also a baby.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yoda is like centuries old.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: I understand.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: So is this going to be Yoda?
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: Is that the premise?
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: Was my question that I kept saying over and over again?
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: you need to watch the TV series okay so I'll do that anyway it was fun it was entertaining i thought it was too long little too long maybe 20 minutes too long and i thought there were places where it was really slow it was fast fast fast and slow and fast fast not sure what the connection was with the goony weaver at all unless she's in the series
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: she's been in the series okay so I didn't know that but you know every time I see her I keep thinking what is going to be some kind of alien thing that's going to happen here where she's going to fight one of the huts or something and she didn't so I need to pause you for a second because I'm going to answer your question about Yoda slash grogu they are not the same the Mandalorian takes place years after
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: So what is dead the man to learn let me finish the takes place years after return of the Jedi okay so yes Yoda's dead so Yoda's dead and Grogo is a Yoda like alien who should eventually become Yoda is Okay, but I didn't I didn't see that and the other thing that I really I lost was he's got the copilot
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: that's kind of an alienish guy, too.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: And they just like, they bring him in, they bring him out, they bring him in.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: There's no, it's not like a Chewbacca skywalker connection there with those two at all.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_00]: When did Chewbacca have a connection with skywalker?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: With Han Solo, Han Solo.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: Chewbacca and Han Solo, I'm in.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: What Chewbacca got close to Luke, too?
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm saying the Han Solo Chewbacca relationship,
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: wasn't there with this guy with the Mandalorian and the co-pilot that he had that appeared to be a team, but it didn't connect, I'm sorry, didn't connect for me.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: So I thought it was entertaining, and I thought, you know, I told you at the end of the movie that it kind of had a, you know, like a Star Wars feel was back again, but I think it really was lacking.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, whatever George Lucas added to the first six, I kind of felt was missing here.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_01]: There was a point in the movie when it gets slow that I found myself opening my eyes and saying, oh, how the fuck did he get there?
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: When the little baby hut gets to the back to the gets caught again, I miss some of that.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: Again, spoiler alert.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: I miss some of that.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't say what he did.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I gave it a 6.5.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: Would I watch it again?
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'd probably watch it again because it was entertaining and I like those kind of movies, but I don't think it lived up to the hype.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I was totally, I thought at some point, Grogu was going to like take out 8 million stormtroopers, like Yoda didn't.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: and it never came to that.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_01]: Me ate a lot of little snacks.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: He had fun with the little baby hut.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: He did do a couple of levitation things and then I won't tell you where.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_01]: Spoiler alert.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but other than that, I mean, I don't know.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: And the little monkey mechanics?
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, they're okay, but they weren't anything great either.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean a lot of it was really like over the top just the the in the water when he was in the water It's kind of like spoiler alert.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't say anything about it I just said when he's in the water.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I said when you get to that you don't even know that he's in the water So that's a spoiler alert.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've done that spoiler alert.
- 28:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's in water Could be a tub taking a bubble bath We don't know that
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: So that's my six and a half.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna give it a not too far off from you.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: You just said seven and a half.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: I give it a say.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now here, I will say you were further back.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you saw things I didn't see because I was further up and I was really worried that the guy was gonna take his weapon and start firing upon us.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're referring to the other audience member who is dressed as I was the leader.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I kept looking to my left.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_00]: So let me ask you this, since you haven't seen the TV shows.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: What is Amanda Lauren?
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: is a bounty hunter.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, goes after the people who are still left from the empire who are trying to return the empire back to power.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, which is completely different from the other two Mandaloreans that were introduced before this one.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I didn't see those two.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: Jenga fat.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they were not their Mandalorian.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but they weren't they weren't a huge part of the story back then What are you nuts?
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: Chango fat is the whole reason that the freaking stormtroopers came about Oh, yes, yes, yes Griss Mr.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm your father.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: Mr.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_00]: I know nothing about Star Wars.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's I'm reviewing this movie.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Right, exactly.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Take us out to another
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: region.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Another planet.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: This movie is self-contained.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_00]: So here's the best part of this review.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: You've got to review from somebody who I'm not going to say I'm a full Star Wars nerd, but I've been probably hold my own in a good game of trivial pursuit Star Wars.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: To a person booney.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: You haven't even seen the three.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: What kind of shampoo do you have even?
- 30:52[SPEAKER_00]: You have even...
- 30:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because that's a question that they're going to ask because they showed you shampooing they shoot her shampooing her hair somewhere in solo they showed you somewhere because
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was Han Solo.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_00]: These are all jokes that he came up with folks that he's trying to set up and take care of.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: What has nothing to do with the movie?
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Baka.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_00]: Has nothing to do with the movie?
- 31:14[SPEAKER_00]: Trivia question.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: No, they're not.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're joking.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're joking.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_01]: You see, they're making up.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a boss.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't care.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_00]: She never watched your hair in any of the movies.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: She did, actually.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, she did not.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_01]: Where?
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: In return of the Jedi.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: No, she did not.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: She did.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, she did not.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Well, she didn't watch it, but she went to a salon.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_01]: and she had a petty, manny petty, and her hair done.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_00]: Was it in the Ewok village too?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: What couldn't be an Ewok?
- 31:40[SPEAKER_00]: They're too short, really?
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 31:43[SPEAKER_00]: What was the last time you saw her turn to the judge?
- 31:45[SPEAKER_00]: Was the obviously... 1986?
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to say who watched her hair, but someone did.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, anyway, moving on, that's our review of Mandalorian.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: Mandalorian, okay.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Mandalorian and Grogu, interesting.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_00]: You got a review from somebody who knows a few things about Star Wars as somebody who clearly never watched the Mandalorian TV series.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I said I didn't.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: I said I didn't I based this my review on this movie only this movie is a stand-alone movie You brought up, but you brought up how it doesn't have a George Lucas feel right
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going back to the original six right so you're you're referencing the original six while you're comparing them to the six star wars movies the there was character relationship development with like I said Han Solo and Chubaka princess Leia and Luke Yoda and Obi-Wan Darth Vader and the Emperor there's they they developed those what's the Emperor's name Hashimoto
- 32:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's an easy Star Wars trivia question.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's a fail on your part.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: The Emperor Hashimoto.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's not his name.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: You were thinking, yeah, that's an Emperor from the Chinese.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: Dinosaur.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: No, but it's not the Emperor.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the Emperor from Star Wars.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: The correct answer, folks, is Palpatine.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: So moving on.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was his nickname.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's what people call them when they want them.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: You've obviously been to the dark side.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, and back.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: So there we go.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: All right, down to bed, the record.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_00]: Unlike other people say, once you go to the dark side, you never go back.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_00]: That ain't true with me.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, moving on, moving on.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_00]: So why don't you get started with your list of worst directors?
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll start with the one we both automatically come to mind.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that Edward D. Wood Jr. Of course, you're to put in the D with that.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Who is the often the worst director of all time?
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: It mostly from the 50s and a little bit in the 60s, I think.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: He just was the quintessential bad director, which
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: leads, led him to become sort of a B movie called Director and his movies are kind of cult too.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: People watch him watch him because there's this lure of how bad could this guy be, kind of thing.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then there was a movie that as I correctly pointed out, Johnny Depp starred in about Edward B Wood, which was a really good movie.
- 34:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it was directed by, oh, I can't tell you because you don't know.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. movie guy.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'll tell everybody else, Tim Bird.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: But don't tell Chris.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: All right, do you want to meet my other ones?
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: OK, Eddie Murphy directed Harlem Knights.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the movie itself was in that great.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: Seth MacFarlane, a million ways to dying the West, horrible, and Adrian Groenberg, Rambo, last stand.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: which was a movie that never needed to be made to begin with in my opinion.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I understand they are coming out with one more called Rambal, the last gelo at the cafeteria.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: And who probably get it?
- 35:18[SPEAKER_00]: Does it mind?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_00]: That's your list.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: That's my list.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's only three.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 35:24[SPEAKER_01]: Ever since story about Harlem, nice though.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's your site sorry we do now right red fox was in it Red fact got a role in Harlem nights.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's your site story the site story is that Red fox at the time was fighting with the IRS he didn't get any residuals at all from
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: Sanford and son that wasn't done in those days back then you didn't get residuals from reruns even though they're on all the time now And so he basically died Penilis and all we money still to the IRS and his famous comment when they asked him about Any Murphy Richard probably putting him given him a part in Harlem Knights.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: He said hell That one for me they wouldn't be here They'd give me a partner movie a small little partner move.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: They could have paid off my taxes what they could have done
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: that's it.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_00]: That's your side story.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just an interesting red red fox.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he was a, I thought, let's say, for instance, was one of the, one of the funnier sitcoms of it's time back then in the day.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_00]: So, okay.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: I will flatline now.
- 36:31[UNKNOWN]: Okay.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see if that holds true.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, all right, so yes, we both agreed about Mr. D Wood or Edward D Wood, of course he had to add the D in there, you know, for obvious reasons.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Who did this for director?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what it stands for, but anyway, but you didn't mention the movie that he's widely paned for, which I thought was interesting.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's plan nine from outer space.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't think I needed to say that we were just somewhat directors in the movies.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it helps to give a little bit of background.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_00]: So we're also going to go, I'm going to go with Uvee Boyle, Uvee Boyle.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: Uvee Boyle?
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: Oh.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_00]: What movies is he directed?
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Morning at Tiffany's.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, see, the silence is- And even at Macy's, right?
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: No the name, no the movie, I do know the name.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, why?
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Because he was a bad director.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: Of what movies?
- 37:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's a particular genre of movie that he's known for doing bad with.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they're horror movies don't.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's your clothes, but not that clothes.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: thrillers?
- 37:43[SPEAKER_00]: So he is critically cartooned.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_00]: Hand, are you done?
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: I thought you were flatlining.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's critically panned for his film adaptations of popular video games.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: Such as Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, and Blood-Rain, which were all friggin' terrible movies.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_00]: A couple of them are good video games.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: House of the Dead is okay, but it's more of a stand-up shooter kind of thing.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, so there's that.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also going to go with Timuazzah, Tommy Wiseah, who directed Rote and starred in a movie called The Room.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_00]: Which came out in 2003 and please if you've never seen it do yourself if they ever don't see it I actually saw it because a friend of mine said, oh, it's really good He was playing a joke on me the room the room.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_00]: It is ridiculously Bathily stupid
- 38:36[SPEAKER_00]: Moving on, my next pick is going to be Coleman Francis, who directed a trilogy of ultra-low budget, incoherent, and aggressively bleak films in the 60s, most notably the beast of Yuka Flats and Red Zone Cuba.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_00]: But let's be honest with each other or Cuba, depending upon how you want to pronounce it.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_00]: But let's be honest with each other.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_00]: I think most of these directors that are on the worst director list have directed movies that just have stupid names.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_00]: If you really think about it, although I'm going to add one, because I don't know why in the world you would ever want to make a Elron Hubbard movie.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_00]: or I shouldn't say movie.
- 39:20[SPEAKER_00]: Why you would make want to make an L-RON hovered novel into a movie.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to add one to the list because it's probably one of the worst ones of all time.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_00]: Roger Christianson.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_00]: Directed a movie called Battlefield Earth.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, with John Travolta.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was terrible.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_00]: But you didn't know I knew that.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was horrible.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_00]: It was so bad that I think even even Travolta fans were like Travolta.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_00]: This is a new logo.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he hated it.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_00]: I know he did.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's why you know Travolta was in it because he completely came out and he was singing it.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_00]: and it's a good thing.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_01]: There are no songs in it at all.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_00]: And then last but not least, and everyone, a lot of people are gonna hate me because of the fact that they like this particular, they like this particular director's relationship with Adam Sandler, but Dennis Dugin.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you've ever saw in Jack and Jill or if you saw just go with it, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_00]: He actually won Razzi's for those two films.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, there aren't too many.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_00]: There's only a few Dennis Dugan movies out there that I think are actually halfway good.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_00]: Most of the stuff he touches is just plain boring and garbage.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_00]: That's my list.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_00]: Two surrogate with me or disagree with me, that's up to you.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_00]: But there's my list.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't disagree with you.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I appreciate that you don't disagree with me.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's the first.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_01]: Just means I don't disagree.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_00]: Do you realize that that makes actually no logical sense whatsoever?
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: I went out here to make logical sense.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're here to review movies.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's what we did.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_00]: You don't agree with me, but you don't agree with me.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_00]: So that means you disagree with me.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: So we can agree.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: You literally have to disagree to agree.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_00]: You have literally just posted a double negative.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, there you go.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's two pictures that come out on one film.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: A double negative.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: And if you went through Fred Fox, you never get those negatives again.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, that's going to be a forever.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_00]: So at 39, we've titled it.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_00]: Worst Directors, although I think what we should title is instead is as you like to put it, the return of the Star Wars franchise, question mark.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_00]: which is what you said as we left the movie theater but anyway so yeah but anyway that's episode 39 stick around folks because of course we've got plenty more episodes on the portfolio for you yeah episode 40 perhaps you should finally come through with the bet that you lost and reimbursed me for the bet of the of the whole Oscar things yeah and worse my hypothesis never got him so you know if you're going to do something come up with it all right
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so episode five gets at the dollar tree, right?
- 41:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'll find out.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: You should do that.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: Episode 40 going to be trying to get one that's not expired.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for considering my health.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate it.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_00]: By buying me some processed food anyways.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: It's a dollar fed in another way.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: And not a dollar anymore.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: This should change the name.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_00]: Could you be any cheaper?
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: I could.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 42:20[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: I could go to like a food pantry and try and see the other.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think you can beat that.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you could probably dump your knife.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, that's going to do it for this episode folks and until the next episode, which will more than likely be about worst costumes from movies.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: But until that episode, make sure you save us some popcorn.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: Some cheesy popcorn.
