- 0:00Speaker 1: It's still Jenny.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition The Still Realbo Show,
- 0:20Speaker 2: Episode number seven and sixty four for October three, twenty
- 0:24Speaker 2: twenty four. Welcome to this week's edition of s RT
- 0:29Speaker 2: You I am one After the Show, I Am Jeff Pecker,
- 0:34Speaker 2: joined every single week from my host, the one Only,
- 0:36Speaker 2: Doctor Trey Franklin. Doctor Trey. Can you believe it's been
- 0:39Speaker 2: five years since Dynamite launched?
- 0:41Speaker 1: My friend, h Can I believe it's been five years? Yes?
- 0:46Speaker 3: Because as you get older, time flies by, and so
- 0:50Speaker 3: I have no concept of time anymore. Like stuff I
- 0:53Speaker 3: think happened like a year or two ago.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I find out was like ten. So has it? Do
- 0:59Speaker 1: I feel like it's been five years?
- 1:00Speaker 2: No?
- 1:01Speaker 3: But there have there been times during aw's run that
- 1:05Speaker 3: I've been watching and go, God, this one episode feels
- 1:08Speaker 3: like five years.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah. It's wild. When you're younger, you're in the adolescent's age,
- 1:16Speaker 2: you're going through school. Everybody would tell me, like, enjoy
- 1:18Speaker 2: this time because time flies by once you got out
- 1:20Speaker 2: of high school. And there is nothing more true than that.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's like a lock at the switch
- 1:27Speaker 2: and it's been five years, and that is like that
- 1:31Speaker 2: in any stage of life. Watching my son grow up.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It's been three months, nearly four months, and he is just,
- 1:38Speaker 2: you know, completely changed since from when he was born.
- 1:41Speaker 2: And I'm sure that's going to continue on and on
- 1:43Speaker 2: as life goes on here. But that is one of
- 1:46Speaker 2: those bits of advice that you always hear that is
- 1:49Speaker 2: so frigging true, is that time flies by. And that's
- 1:52Speaker 2: what I was thinking about on Wednesday night watching Dynamo.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I'm like, man, it's been five years since AW Dynamite launched.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I remember all the build up towards AW, watching the
- 2:03Speaker 2: YouTube shows to start launching AW, whether it was being
- 2:07Speaker 2: the Elite Cody had a show, then they had some
- 2:09Speaker 2: of those specials like in Las Vegas and February to do,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and now it's double or nothing, And here we are
- 2:15Speaker 2: five years later. AW is a brand that is well known.
- 2:20Speaker 2: It's you know, I think it's recognizable by probably outside
- 2:26Speaker 2: folks in professional wrestling here and there. I think it's
- 2:29Speaker 2: it's gained enough momentum where people are like, oh, AW,
- 2:33Speaker 2: that's that other WWE like wrestling promotion and it's like, yeah, yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 2: kind of that's it. But here we are five years later,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and it's amazing, Doctor Try. I mean they really, I
- 2:48Speaker 2: know they've had their ups and downs, but they changed
- 2:52Speaker 2: professional wrestling for the better ultimately.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I mean we talked about it leave on last week's show.
- 2:59Speaker 3: You know, the different and the contract negotiations and the
- 3:03Speaker 3: way they run their business and being more talent friendly
- 3:08Speaker 3: than what WWE was under Vince. I mean, you go
- 3:11Speaker 3: back to the pandemic era. They changed the way the
- 3:14Speaker 3: shows were shot, they changed different things, like they've They've
- 3:17Speaker 3: changed wrestling for the better for the most part there.
- 3:21Speaker 3: You know, there are certain things that I kind of
- 3:23Speaker 3: wish they put the genie back in the bottle on
- 3:24Speaker 3: a little bit, but you know, their way of doing
- 3:28Speaker 3: things has changed the industry. And that's what you and
- 3:30Speaker 3: I always talk about, was like competition is good for
- 3:35Speaker 3: all businesses because it breeds new ways of thinking, new
- 3:40Speaker 3: ways of doing stuff. And they've done a fantastic job
- 3:43Speaker 3: of that over these five years.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, WWE Professional Wrestling was complacent for twenty plus years.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I mean TNA made a run at WE, and really
- 3:54Speaker 2: they got I don't want to say they didn't get close,
- 3:57Speaker 2: but they did not get as close as AWS. I
- 3:59Speaker 2: mean TNA on Spike TV at one point, which a
- 4:01Speaker 2: major network now known as the Paramountain Network, and they
- 4:05Speaker 2: were out there on the national televised audience. Ring of
- 4:07Speaker 2: Honor had a good cult like following amongst wrestling fans
- 4:11Speaker 2: that is similar to ECW. They were on the Sinclay're
- 4:14Speaker 2: broadcasting network, but they never kind of broke through like
- 4:18Speaker 2: an ECW did in the late nineties. Is that third
- 4:20Speaker 2: brand in professional wrestling? It wasn't really until AW came along,
- 4:25Speaker 2: had some money that they could throw around and was
- 4:28Speaker 2: doing the complete opposite of WWE where it truly changed
- 4:32Speaker 2: professional wrestling for the first time in twenty plus years
- 4:35Speaker 2: and it was a breath of fresh air. They have
- 4:38Speaker 2: done amazing things to really challenge the norm and kind
- 4:43Speaker 2: of take their business model and make it the norm.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Where would WWE have been in the last five years
- 4:49Speaker 2: if it wasn't for AW pushing them to get better, creatively,
- 4:52Speaker 2: to get better and taking care of the professional wrestlers
- 4:55Speaker 2: to get better for making sure their fans leave home happy.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Would that have all happened if AW wasn't pushing the norm.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So huge hat tip to AW on celebrating five years
- 5:09Speaker 2: of AW Dynamite this past Wednesday. I thought the one
- 5:14Speaker 2: thing that was actually lacking from this past week's edition
- 5:16Speaker 2: of AW Dynamite was not many lookbacks to some memorable
- 5:22Speaker 2: moments in AW history. I know they would have them
- 5:24Speaker 2: coming in and out of breaks. I would like to
- 5:26Speaker 2: see some sort of video package looking back at the
- 5:28Speaker 2: last five years of AW Dynamite. I thought that was lacking.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It's nice to get a little nostalgic from time to
- 5:34Speaker 2: time and look back at the good times that was
- 5:37Speaker 2: in the early days of AW Dynamite. With that said,
- 5:41Speaker 2: Doctor Trey five years celebration for AW Dynamite, what are
- 5:46Speaker 2: some of the moments, memories, matches that stand out to
- 5:49Speaker 2: you from the last five years of AW Dynamite on
- 5:51Speaker 2: TBS and formally TNT.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I mean, for me, like some of the sixty Man
- 5:57Speaker 3: or sixty minute Iron Man matches that Brian is a
- 6:00Speaker 3: with with Hangman and Kenny Omega, Like those are great matches.
- 6:07Speaker 1: God, you kind of caught me.
- 6:08Speaker 3: I wasn't prepared for this question, and so I'm trying
- 6:10Speaker 3: to run through some stuff. Honestly, even this is as
- 6:13Speaker 3: crazy as it may sound, like the Jericho Orange Cassidy
- 6:16Speaker 3: feud stands out to me and A lot of it
- 6:19Speaker 3: was just because it was a little bit different. It
- 6:20Speaker 3: was a little bit wwe ask you had the giant
- 6:23Speaker 3: orange juice spot that they brought back up into the
- 6:26Speaker 3: current feudis in with.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Man.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Trying to think of some other ones. Those are ones
- 6:31Speaker 3: on top of my head that kind of stand out,
- 6:35Speaker 3: and just maybe some of the like the times you
- 6:38Speaker 3: get to see the new people, like the first time
- 6:41Speaker 3: I got to see the new Malachi or excuse me,
- 6:43Speaker 3: the House of Black entrance on AW and how it
- 6:46Speaker 3: differed from WW. Seeing the different presentations of guys we
- 6:50Speaker 3: knew from other shows and then getting to learn who
- 6:53Speaker 3: the hell Sammy Gavara is, Who the hell Darby Allen
- 6:56Speaker 3: was like learning some of these, you know, the pillars
- 6:59Speaker 3: of AW and seeing them on a big stage and
- 7:04Speaker 3: it had actually becoming household names for me.
- 7:07Speaker 2: One of the big things that stands out as favorite
- 7:09Speaker 2: moments from AW Dynamite was the pandemic era of AW Dynamite.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I remember those first couple of weeks when everybody was
- 7:19Speaker 2: legit locked down, not really going out, and I was
- 7:23Speaker 2: so relieved and happy, and when television that I recognized
- 7:26Speaker 2: was coming on because there was not a lot of
- 7:27Speaker 2: new content at the time, and I remember that they
- 7:30Speaker 2: think they did a show at Daily's place and then
- 7:33Speaker 2: they went and did some shows at the Nightmare Factory
- 7:36Speaker 2: and it was the TNT title Tournament when they launched
- 7:38Speaker 2: that championship, and it was just like a breath of
- 7:42Speaker 2: fresh air. And I think some of their best work
- 7:45Speaker 2: was done in front of barely anybody during the pandemic.
- 7:48Speaker 2: I mean, they really came into their own during the pandemic.
- 7:53Speaker 2: And then when they were in Daily's place for whatever
- 7:56Speaker 2: those fifty plus weeks, I think it was almost like
- 7:59Speaker 2: six seventy weeks of programming from March twenty twenty to
- 8:04Speaker 2: about June twenty twenty one was memorable. I mean, they,
- 8:08Speaker 2: like Doctor Trey pointing out, they made w change the
- 8:10Speaker 2: way that they did their presentations for programming for a
- 8:13Speaker 2: period of time when WW was doing the shows out
- 8:15Speaker 2: of the PC that they really broke through there and
- 8:20Speaker 2: I think it was some of their best again, some
- 8:22Speaker 2: of their best stuff with nobody around. And you know,
- 8:25Speaker 2: I kind of I kind of missed the days where
- 8:28Speaker 2: it was just aw dynamite because I think creatively they
- 8:31Speaker 2: did their best stuff. I get why they need two shows,
- 8:35Speaker 2: especially with the amount of people on their roster that
- 8:37Speaker 2: they have, but the way that they used to build
- 8:39Speaker 2: those AW dynamite shows early on, from like nineteen to
- 8:42Speaker 2: twenty one, maybe twenty twenty two a little bit. We're
- 8:46Speaker 2: so well done, creatively, very organized, great approach that has
- 8:50Speaker 2: obviously unfortunately been lost as time has gone on in
- 8:53Speaker 2: AW because creative is something that is often a sticking
- 8:57Speaker 2: point with me as a fan watching where it's like
- 8:59Speaker 2: a lot of stopping. There's the stretches where they're really
- 9:01Speaker 2: really good, from like March this year till up until
- 9:05Speaker 2: all out and yeah, it's been fun. I mean the
- 9:09Speaker 2: OSPRAMJFF match that recently took place stood out to me.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Brody Lee's debut, Matt Hardy's debut, Malachi Black's debut. I
- 9:20Speaker 2: know you mentioned him. He showed up surprisingly during a
- 9:23Speaker 2: show in Miami, one of those first shows back on
- 9:26Speaker 2: the road, and he was not expecting. AW but wwat
- 9:30Speaker 2: that snafu with his contract where he was like an
- 9:33Speaker 2: NXC talent and not only thirty days instead of ninety
- 9:36Speaker 2: days to let his to let his contract lapse. Yeah,
- 9:42Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's just been a really fun run.
- 9:45Speaker 2: I think of a lot of great stuff there various
- 9:49Speaker 2: different times in the early stages of aw Dynamite and
- 9:54Speaker 2: how exciting that was. And you know, I think of
- 9:56Speaker 2: episode number two, Private Party defeated Young Bucks was stood
- 9:59Speaker 2: out to me. I mean, that was a really fun moment.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And you know, you look back at those early aw
- 10:05Speaker 2: Dynamite days and you're like, man, they still got that
- 10:08Speaker 2: in there, and they could still get those crowd reactions.
- 10:10Speaker 2: They kind of went old school on Wednesday Night. Aw
- 10:13Speaker 2: really love showing the crowd shots, and rightfully so, because
- 10:15Speaker 2: they've not had a chance to really do that over
- 10:18Speaker 2: the last six months unless it's a pay review. So
- 10:21Speaker 2: I mean, massive accomplishment here, Doctor Trey. And there's some
- 10:25Speaker 2: more things to celebrate in regards to all of the wrestling.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But I think if you asked me back in October
- 10:32Speaker 2: twenty nineteen, would we'd be talking about the five year anniversary,
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, in five years from now, I would say yes,
- 10:40Speaker 2: But you never really know when that type of stuff happens.
- 10:43Speaker 2: So I mean that's a huge accomplish, the accomplishment for
- 10:46Speaker 2: them to still be here for five years, to still
- 10:49Speaker 2: be a very solid number two in the United States
- 10:51Speaker 2: for wrestling, promotion and to really push the envelope and
- 10:55Speaker 2: change things for the better when it comes to the
- 10:58Speaker 2: world professional wrestling.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 3: I mean if you had asked me that if they'd
- 11:02Speaker 3: be around in five years, I'd say yeah, because look
- 11:04Speaker 3: at TNA, like you and I, well you and Eric,
- 11:06Speaker 3: you said, have a running joke and we did it
- 11:08Speaker 3: on our show as well, like was t and A
- 11:10Speaker 3: going to be in business in a year? And that
- 11:13Speaker 3: ran for fourteen fifteen years? You know, if they're going
- 11:17Speaker 3: to make it. So I always kind of thought they'd
- 11:19Speaker 3: make it to this mark. I just didn't know if
- 11:22Speaker 3: they'd be able to grow or if.
- 11:23Speaker 1: They'd have to downsize.
- 11:24Speaker 3: And I think they've done an admirable job of slowly
- 11:29Speaker 3: growing their brand awareness. It may lack in some other areas,
- 11:33Speaker 3: but like you said, if you go around talk to
- 11:35Speaker 3: people who are kind of, you know, borderline wrestling fans
- 11:39Speaker 3: and you ask what AEW is, they're gonna be, Oh,
- 11:41Speaker 3: that's that other show that's kind of like WWE. That's
- 11:44Speaker 3: where Chris Jericho is, or that's where you know John
- 11:47Speaker 3: Moxley is or Daniel Bryan or somebody like that. They'll
- 11:49Speaker 3: they'll mention one of those guys. So I think they've
- 11:52Speaker 3: done a great job with that. I mean there, I mean,
- 11:54Speaker 3: obviously there are always some things that you can tweak,
- 11:56Speaker 3: but it's a.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Learning curve like there.
- 12:00Speaker 3: I mean, just think about this, Like the amount of
- 12:02Speaker 3: information that you learn in that your son will learn
- 12:05Speaker 3: from birth until the age of five, like Samy's doing now,
- 12:09Speaker 3: is incredible, And what you learn from kindergarten through fifth
- 12:12Speaker 3: grade is a five year window and you learn a
- 12:15Speaker 3: ton in that space.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They've done a lot.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Of learning, tweaking, changing things, trying new things out. So
- 12:23Speaker 3: I give them all the props in the world to it.
- 12:25Speaker 3: And you know, one of my favorite things I forgot
- 12:27Speaker 3: to mention was, and you brought it up, was when
- 12:28Speaker 3: we're doing those daily the daily Plaza places or shows
- 12:33Speaker 3: that having the wrestlers around the ring side and hearing
- 12:36Speaker 3: an MJF or hearing you know, Sean Spears in the
- 12:39Speaker 3: time or something talk trash to a guy in a
- 12:43Speaker 3: match that he's not involved in. I thought was so
- 12:46Speaker 3: clever and so witty, and it was actually a way
- 12:49Speaker 3: of like character development for guys that maybe weren't on
- 12:53Speaker 3: the show like that. That stuff was really really well
- 12:55Speaker 3: done and really fun and next thing, you know, you
- 12:58Speaker 3: see NXT doing the same thing a month later because
- 13:01Speaker 3: they all realized, hey, that's a great idea. We could
- 13:04Speaker 3: have some feedback and not just these empty arena matches
- 13:08Speaker 3: that we've been having. So but yeah, like I'm really
- 13:11Speaker 3: happy for that company. They've they've they've come a long way,
- 13:14Speaker 3: and you know they can keep growing. You just keep
- 13:17Speaker 3: learning and adapting and business is more about adapting and
- 13:21Speaker 3: surviving than anything else, and they've done a good job
- 13:24Speaker 3: at that.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Yeah, very very much.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So.
- 13:26Speaker 2: I also think I remember you were mentioned like wrestlers talking.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That's like how I got introduced to Coltman Austin Gun
- 13:32Speaker 2: because they would like lose their minds on the outside
- 13:35Speaker 2: of the ring as the crowd back then. So props
- 13:39Speaker 2: all around, Awn was It was a very celebratory day
- 13:42Speaker 2: on Wednesday for AW, so outside of the five year
- 13:45Speaker 2: anniversary of Dynamite, it was officially announced by Variety that
- 13:49Speaker 2: AW had signed a multi multimedia rights deal with Warner
- 13:53Speaker 2: Brothers Discovery. We had heard about this for some time
- 13:55Speaker 2: that this was intimate, intimate, and it happened also intimate,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I mean, it was a very intimate situation with Warner
- 14:02Speaker 2: Brothers as well. The deal is reportedly three years with
- 14:06Speaker 2: a four year with an option for a fourth year.
- 14:09Speaker 2: The fourth year would be at a substantial increase in price,
- 14:12Speaker 2: according to Dave Meltzer. Variety also said that AW programming
- 14:17Speaker 2: will streave live on Max simultaneously for the US subscribers
- 14:21Speaker 2: and will be available to stream on demand starting in
- 14:23Speaker 2: January twenty twenty five. Their pay per views will be
- 14:26Speaker 2: available on Max, but at a discounted price. What that
- 14:30Speaker 2: price is, nobody knows. That's a little bit concerning, because
- 14:35Speaker 2: I was hoping that with this new deal that it
- 14:37Speaker 2: would go over to Max and it would be a
- 14:39Speaker 2: similar price point to what ww's doing on Peacock. But
- 14:42Speaker 2: I guess AW had said that, you know, WA and
- 14:45Speaker 2: UFC are basically losing their shirts now on pay per
- 14:47Speaker 2: views by only having them up there for four ninety
- 14:52Speaker 2: nine a month on Peacock. There was a report out
- 14:55Speaker 2: there from Sports Business Journal, according to Russell Puris and
- 15:00Speaker 2: Fightful Select, where it stated that they were reporting that
- 15:04Speaker 2: Warner Brothers Discovery had an equity stake in AW. That
- 15:07Speaker 2: has been something that has been long rumored since AW launched. Reportedly,
- 15:12Speaker 2: thus far, neither AW nor w or Warner Brothers Discovery
- 15:15Speaker 2: have confirmed this. Additionally, PR contracts contacts at both companies
- 15:19Speaker 2: stated they've never heard of that aspect of Warner Brothers
- 15:22Speaker 2: Discovery having equity in AAW and then finally aw's new
- 15:26Speaker 2: deal with Warner Brothers Discovery is closer to one hundred
- 15:28Speaker 2: and eighty five million per year, not to previously reported
- 15:31Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty million, according to a source close
- 15:34Speaker 2: to the situation that comes via Russell Votes. Also through
- 15:38Speaker 2: the Russell Puris Twitter feed. Sean ross Sapp also confirmed
- 15:43Speaker 2: that that is what he had heard as well, so
- 15:45Speaker 2: a three year deal with a fourth year option, whether
- 15:47Speaker 2: it would be an increase at one hundred and eighty
- 15:48Speaker 2: five million a year. They will be on HBO Max airing,
- 15:53Speaker 2: it will be streaming and also Next Day and there
- 15:55Speaker 2: will also be a discounted price for pay per views
- 15:58Speaker 2: on Max Doctor Trey. This is for Dynamite and Collision.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Rampage was not part of the press release. Nothing new
- 16:07Speaker 2: as of yet with Rampagne. There's been rumors that there
- 16:10Speaker 2: will be a show on Fox, but this for the
- 16:14Speaker 2: Friday show. Rampage may be done completely in twenty twenty five.
- 16:18Speaker 2: There may be a new show called AW Shockwave on Fox,
- 16:21Speaker 2: but we'll talk about that once it happens down the line. Nonetheless,
- 16:25Speaker 2: let's look at the deal here at DOTG Trade. This
- 16:27Speaker 2: is very big. This is great news for professional wrestling.
- 16:29Speaker 2: This is great news for professional wrestling fans, and this
- 16:32Speaker 2: is obviously great news for AW. Your thoughts on the.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Deal, Yeah, it's good for everybody evolved because not only
- 16:40Speaker 3: do you get you know, for Max, you get to
- 16:43Speaker 3: stream Dynamite because there are people like me that you know,
- 16:47Speaker 3: I stream everything. I don't have satellite, I don't have cable,
- 16:50Speaker 3: so I don't get TBS or TNT on my streaming platforms.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I do have Max because it comes with my AT
- 16:58Speaker 3: and T subscription, so I can now watch dine in
- 17:01Speaker 3: my life and not have to go to you know,
- 17:03Speaker 3: some alternatives excuse me, some alternative sites to try and
- 17:07Speaker 3: watch it.
- 17:07Speaker 1: It's good for wrestling fans.
- 17:08Speaker 3: We got three more years guaranteed pretty much of professional wrestling.
- 17:14Speaker 3: If if the Fox deal goes down and you get
- 17:16Speaker 3: some more wrestling on FS one, I doubt it will
- 17:20Speaker 3: actually be on main Fox, but I think FS one
- 17:23Speaker 3: things like.
- 17:23Speaker 1: That is good. It's great for the wrestlers.
- 17:26Speaker 3: It's more money being generated into the company, so they
- 17:29Speaker 3: can you know, play with salaries, raises, you know, things
- 17:33Speaker 3: like that. Overall, it's just it's just good in general.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And then for like I said, for Max, it's great
- 17:38Speaker 3: because you get that. Plus there's still an opportunity for
- 17:42Speaker 3: them to stream you know, past episodes of Dyna, My,
- 17:45Speaker 3: past episodes of Collision, Ring of Honor, stuff from Days
- 17:50Speaker 3: of Old, because Tony Kahan bought the library, so there's
- 17:53Speaker 3: more content available for Max, which has been struggling with
- 17:57Speaker 3: content for a while. Like I like, literally yes to
- 18:00Speaker 3: Day was the first time we've turned bax on in
- 18:03Speaker 3: probably six months, just because they haven't had anything new.
- 18:06Speaker 1: To watch that we were interested in.
- 18:08Speaker 3: So getting more content on these platforms is great for
- 18:11Speaker 3: everybody involved.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, this is great. I guess there were remembers about
- 18:16Speaker 2: Ring of Honor potentially going a true TV, but that
- 18:19Speaker 2: wasn't part of the deal. It's I think Meltsa reported
- 18:22Speaker 2: earlier today that everything with Ring of Honor is status quo.
- 18:26Speaker 2: If you are an AW hater for whatever reason, you
- 18:30Speaker 2: should be celebrating this because this is good for whatever
- 18:34Speaker 2: you like. If it's w E, if it's new Japan.
- 18:36Speaker 2: If it's whatever, If it's whatever, you like that it
- 18:39Speaker 2: is an AW. This is good because we need more
- 18:43Speaker 2: wrestling promotions on network television schedules in the United States
- 18:49Speaker 2: and beyond. Like we need that. We need both companies
- 18:52Speaker 2: to push one another. And you should be cheering on AW.
- 18:54Speaker 2: If you don't like, like, we could sit here, we
- 18:56Speaker 2: could bash their creative we could bash their matches, we
- 18:58Speaker 2: could bash their cards long they are whatever, But this
- 19:02Speaker 2: is ultimately we are still pushing for them to be successful,
- 19:06Speaker 2: and this is a form of their success. So I'm
- 19:10Speaker 2: very happy for them. The thing I'm going to be
- 19:13Speaker 2: watching with a very keen eye here, Doctor Troy again
- 19:16Speaker 2: is the discounted pay per view prices. I want to
- 19:19Speaker 2: know how much it is and like, what is a
- 19:21Speaker 2: fair price for me to want to spend that money? Again,
- 19:26Speaker 2: I was hoping, what if you had a Max subscription,
- 19:29Speaker 2: you'd be able to watch AW pay per views, but
- 19:32Speaker 2: there's still going to be a paywall behind there. I mean,
- 19:34Speaker 2: what is a fair price if you're already subscribing to
- 19:37Speaker 2: Max to also make the pay per view for available
- 19:44Speaker 2: for the fans, And that could actually open up the
- 19:46Speaker 2: door for WWE Togo. That's interesting. Maybe we'll do that
- 19:48Speaker 2: in the future, which I don't want to have happened.
- 19:50Speaker 2: I have everything that is good for aw, that's not
- 19:53Speaker 2: what I want to have happened. But I was hoping
- 19:55Speaker 2: that I would be able to watch the pay per
- 19:56Speaker 2: views VA Max Doctor Trey. That won't be the case.
- 19:59Speaker 2: What is a fair price point then, in that realm.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Right, I think that's the best price for the point
- 20:08Speaker 3: for them, because hey, you've already conditioned your wrestling fans
- 20:12Speaker 3: to ninety nine, like we heard it for for god
- 20:15Speaker 3: knows how long on the network, and then you know
- 20:18Speaker 3: you have Peacock. But nine ninety nine is a good
- 20:19Speaker 3: conditioning price, especially if you're already paying for a Max subscription.
- 20:23Speaker 3: On top of that, it's just extra money for Mac
- 20:29Speaker 3: for Warner Brothers, I mean that they're that's just gathering,
- 20:32Speaker 3: that's just double dipping into your client base. Anything more
- 20:37Speaker 3: than that you're gonna have, You're gonna have fans and
- 20:39Speaker 3: just go, yeah, I'm already paying ten bucks, twelve bucks,
- 20:43Speaker 3: fifteen bucks a month for Max.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I really don't need this.
- 20:47Speaker 3: I mean, it's just to me, it's more about just
- 20:50Speaker 3: price conditioning, and then that way you can still say
- 20:52Speaker 3: that you're in the same ballpark as WWE, and you
- 20:56Speaker 3: can sell that to advertisers as well, so you can
- 20:59Speaker 3: get that great rec pieces or Reces sponsored Darby Ellen
- 21:04Speaker 3: Coffin match or something.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Didn't they do like Cracker Barrel in the early days
- 21:08Speaker 2: of AW where there's like a Cracker Barrel match.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, WW has done more than anybody else.
- 21:13Speaker 3: So like the Dorito's Mountain Dew, you know, all that
- 21:16Speaker 3: fun stuff, you know, but you got me for like
- 21:19Speaker 3: aw's got to do a Red Bull ladder match, you
- 21:22Speaker 3: know something like that.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Hey, money talks, money talks. So we'll see there's more
- 21:27Speaker 2: details that funnel out in regards to this deal. Congratulations
- 21:29Speaker 2: to AW and Warner Brother Discovery. Another at least three
- 21:32Speaker 2: years on TNT and TBS programming, potentially another four years,
- 21:36Speaker 2: and I guess we'll keep an eye on whether or
- 21:38Speaker 2: not there is an actual stake in AW from Warnbro Discovery.
- 21:43Speaker 2: There's always been that rumor, and now you've got conflicting
- 21:46Speaker 2: reports for like the first time. Now you've got some
- 21:48Speaker 2: real solid people out there talking about it, and they're
- 21:52Speaker 2: saying both sides are basically saying I have no idea
- 21:55Speaker 2: what you're talking about that is not the case at all.
- 21:58Speaker 2: One of the people who helped become a founder of AW,
- 22:02Speaker 2: Doctor Trey, is the current we Champion, Cody Rhodes. He
- 22:06Speaker 2: is now in WWI. You want to talk about moments
- 22:08Speaker 2: that I was, like my mind, BLEW is two and
- 22:10Speaker 2: a half three years and Cody's gone from AW. But nonetheless,
- 22:14Speaker 2: Cody rhoads and is in WWI. He's the Wee Champion.
- 22:17Speaker 2: He has a very big match at Bad Blood over
- 22:21Speaker 2: the weekend. He'll be tagging with the Roman Raids to
- 22:22Speaker 2: take on SOLOSIKOA and Jacob Fottwo. We'll preview that here
- 22:25Speaker 2: in a little bit. But one of the things that
- 22:29Speaker 2: we've been talking about for sometimes that he became champion
- 22:31Speaker 2: was our concerns of him becoming vanilla, his storylines not
- 22:35Speaker 2: being compelling, his story lines not being entertaining, historylines not
- 22:38Speaker 2: being interesting in him kind of floundering a bit as
- 22:41Speaker 2: a world champion. So there was some concern on our part,
- 22:44Speaker 2: and I think that they may have found a potential
- 22:47Speaker 2: storyline that peaks at least my interest. Doctor Try. I
- 22:50Speaker 2: want to get your thoughts on this thing. So I
- 22:53Speaker 2: feel like Cody Rhoads finally has a good storyline as
- 22:56Speaker 2: champion for fans to sink their teeth into storyline is
- 23:00Speaker 2: him tagging with Roman Rains on Saturday and Kevin Owens
- 23:04Speaker 2: and Randy Orton kind of looking at him as a
- 23:06Speaker 2: quasi trader for tagging with Roman Reigns. I like the
- 23:11Speaker 2: interactions of the last two to three weeks on SmackDown,
- 23:13Speaker 2: whether it be with Rhodes and Owens, Roads with Orton,
- 23:16Speaker 2: or Roads with both Orton and Cohen Kevin Owens in
- 23:20Speaker 2: the rain this past Friday's edition of SmackDown. I'm digging
- 23:24Speaker 2: that because it makes so much sense. One of the
- 23:28Speaker 2: worst things in professional wrestling, especially during the time where
- 23:31Speaker 2: Vince had the creative books, is you would have two
- 23:33Speaker 2: enemies that had this really intense feud and then two
- 23:38Speaker 2: months later they would be tagging with one another like
- 23:40Speaker 2: nothing ever happened, and it would be like, well, how
- 23:42Speaker 2: do come we never explain how we get here? Well,
- 23:45Speaker 2: Cody tagging with Roman, how they built that up makes sense.
- 23:50Speaker 2: All the stuff around it, and how he would be
- 23:52Speaker 2: looked at by his peers is something that typically is
- 23:56Speaker 2: not included in these types of storylines, or it's typically
- 24:00Speaker 2: lost over. I love that two people who were at
- 24:05Speaker 2: war with Cody Rhodes against the Bloodline, Kevin Owens and
- 24:08Speaker 2: Randy Oran are basically like, what the hell are you doing, dude,
- 24:12Speaker 2: and they want to kind of call him a trader,
- 24:15Speaker 2: but they don't get there. It seems like Kevin Owens
- 24:17Speaker 2: has one foot in there where you could see him
- 24:19Speaker 2: turning on Cody Rhads at one point Randy Orans kind
- 24:22Speaker 2: of like shrugging his shoulders a little bit. But I
- 24:24Speaker 2: watched that on SmackDown. Light bulb went off and I
- 24:27Speaker 2: was like, We've been talking about this for a long time.
- 24:29Speaker 2: We want a good Cody Roads storyline. I think we
- 24:32Speaker 2: found it, Doctor Try. I'm really digging what they're doing
- 24:34Speaker 2: as part of like this character development with Cody Rhoads,
- 24:37Speaker 2: Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, and of course the stuff that's
- 24:40Speaker 2: being included with him tagging with the Roman Reigns at
- 24:42Speaker 2: Bad Blood.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:44Speaker 3: It's actually one of those things that you and I
- 24:46Speaker 3: have talked about, I mean several times over the years
- 24:48Speaker 3: of the show. Like I remember, you know Sena and Orton,
- 24:51Speaker 3: you know, having their feuds, and it was like two
- 24:53Speaker 3: months later seen in Orton or in a tag match
- 24:55Speaker 3: together and they would do the whole like, I don't
- 24:58Speaker 3: think I trust you.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Well, I don't think I try chew that much either,
- 25:01Speaker 1: But it was never like as as.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Poignant as what we're seeing right now. And then you
- 25:08Speaker 3: never have anybody question John Cena or Randy ordes so
- 25:11Speaker 3: why they're tagging with the other. And you know, it's
- 25:13Speaker 3: always one of my favorite things in wrestling the bitch
- 25:16Speaker 3: about is when your good guy is getting beat down
- 25:19Speaker 3: by four people and nobody comes out to save him. Well,
- 25:23Speaker 3: is he really a good guy ie if nobody in
- 25:25Speaker 3: the back wants to come help him. So this storyline
- 25:28Speaker 3: is like the perfect combination of little nitpicky things that've
- 25:31Speaker 3: had over the years where you're like, okay, Cody and
- 25:34Speaker 3: Roman pretty serious feud. I mean literally, like Roman and
- 25:38Speaker 3: Rock were trying to destroy Cody less than a year ago,
- 25:42Speaker 3: and now he's teaming with Roman. I love the way
- 25:45Speaker 3: they played out with the Roman where Roma's not asking
- 25:48Speaker 3: for Cody's help, he kind of doesn't want it, but
- 25:52Speaker 3: Cody's kind of positioned himself that like, hey, the enemy
- 25:55Speaker 3: of my enemy is my friend.
- 25:57Speaker 1: All right, this makes sense.
- 25:58Speaker 3: And then you really have two people that like you know,
- 26:02Speaker 3: have great storyline history at the bloodline and with Roman
- 26:05Speaker 3: in particular, going dude, what the hell are you doing?
- 26:08Speaker 3: Like we trust you, we love you, but we don't
- 26:11Speaker 3: trust him. What are you walking yourself into? It's a
- 26:15Speaker 3: great storyline, the fact that it takes away from real life,
- 26:19Speaker 3: Like if you have somebody in your life who hates
- 26:22Speaker 3: somebody with a passion and then all of a sudden,
- 26:26Speaker 3: out of nowhere, they're helping that guy out for some reason.
- 26:29Speaker 3: You're like, dude, what are you doing? That makes no sense?
- 26:31Speaker 3: Like you hate that guy, Like what's going on? I
- 26:35Speaker 3: love when they I'm not saying that this is not
- 26:37Speaker 3: one of those instances where they're blending. They're blurring the
- 26:39Speaker 3: lines with the reality and storyline, but this is a
- 26:43Speaker 3: situation where you're taking a real life situation, in real
- 26:47Speaker 3: life emotions and transposing it into wrestling, which is one
- 26:51Speaker 3: of those things that we love, Like we love when
- 26:54Speaker 3: art imitates life, and this is one of those really
- 26:56Speaker 3: good segments where it's imitating life.
- 27:00Speaker 2: You've heard the words in titles that they have now
- 27:03Speaker 2: wa of character development, and that is so important, so
- 27:07Speaker 2: poignant and so true, and I love that they have
- 27:10Speaker 2: job titles that have that name in their job title
- 27:13Speaker 2: because of the importance behind it, because it's it plays
- 27:17Speaker 2: a massive role in creative and maybe sometimes with these
- 27:20Speaker 2: writers they're not thinking about, Okay, this this loose end
- 27:23Speaker 2: is well, we can just kind of forget about out
- 27:25Speaker 2: that and the fans will remember it anyway. I remember
- 27:27Speaker 2: you used to reading reports that like they would think
- 27:29Speaker 2: in creative fans will remember this anyway. We'll just you know,
- 27:32Speaker 2: start doing it this way, and so be it well
- 27:35Speaker 2: forgetting some sort of history that took place three, six, nine,
- 27:39Speaker 2: twelve months prior. And I love that WA is choosing
- 27:42Speaker 2: not to ignore it. And that's one of those things
- 27:45Speaker 2: that's always been a bugaboo and I just like it.
- 27:47Speaker 2: And because when as time goes on, as I get
- 27:50Speaker 2: more invested in I watch at home and they put
- 27:53Speaker 2: these little pieces of the puzzle together, I'm going to
- 27:56Speaker 2: be more likely excited, entertained, and looking forward to the
- 28:01Speaker 2: crescendo of this all. And that is what WW is
- 28:04Speaker 2: doing so so well, I know we just praised AW.
- 28:09Speaker 2: I'm gonna pick on them a little bit, but creatively,
- 28:12Speaker 2: this is where they are lacking in a lot of things,
- 28:15Speaker 2: and it's a very minute and small thing. Because I
- 28:18Speaker 2: watched so much of AW I do not miss their programming.
- 28:21Speaker 2: But take, for instance, I was watching Collision recently, and
- 28:25Speaker 2: up until this point, Rouche was aligned with the don
- 28:29Speaker 2: Kallis family. He had they had done the storyline, he
- 28:32Speaker 2: had joined don Kallis family, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: And he kind of saw as time went on with
- 28:38Speaker 2: the will Ospray Kyle Fletcher Kenoski Takeshka stuff that roushe
- 28:42Speaker 2: was not part of the don Challis family randomly anymore.
- 28:46Speaker 2: It was like, where's Ruce. Maybe he's away, maybe he's injured.
- 28:48Speaker 2: I have no idea. Well, they do a segment on
- 28:51Speaker 2: Collision where he like reunites or restarts l I j
- 28:58Speaker 2: for like no reason at all, and I'm like, but
- 29:02Speaker 2: what happened to the alignment with the don Kallis family.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Why isn't he with don Kallis anymore? Zero explanation. I'm
- 29:10Speaker 2: picking I on AW here, but that is something I'd
- 29:13Speaker 2: like to see where just a simple segment, Ruth just says, hey, listen,
- 29:17Speaker 2: I've decided to go in my separate ways from you.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I appreciate what you've done for me, but I have
- 29:21Speaker 2: something up my sleeve, will still remain friends or whatever,
- 29:24Speaker 2: and they close out the segment. But that is the
- 29:26Speaker 2: stuff of professional rights, and that comes to mind, like
- 29:29Speaker 2: in recent times, while probably most things people are like
- 29:32Speaker 2: skipping over, that is something that kind of like reminds
- 29:38Speaker 2: me of moments that there's been gaps in storylines. And
- 29:42Speaker 2: that's the thing that I like with WWE's doing right now.
- 29:44Speaker 2: And the same point, I will say, I'll talk good
- 29:46Speaker 2: here about AW Dotor Trey. I like the stuffing that
- 29:49Speaker 2: they're doing with Moxley, Claudio Poc Danielson and Wheeler Da.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I like the stuff with Da. That is some good
- 29:58Speaker 2: character development. They closed out the five Your Anniversary with
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yuda tagging with Danielson taking on Claudia Unpack. I eventually
- 30:05Speaker 2: think you'da does turn on Brian Danielson. But you're seeing
- 30:08Speaker 2: some good character development. Bad character development again with AW
- 30:12Speaker 2: that I understand. When did Marina Shaffir just get a
- 30:15Speaker 2: Russian accent? Right? I believe she's Russian. I may be
- 30:22Speaker 2: completely wrong. I'm gonna say Eastern European accent just to
- 30:25Speaker 2: be on the safe side here, But again, those are
- 30:28Speaker 2: times where there's been good character development and bad bad
- 30:31Speaker 2: character development, and it is so important profession rustling for
- 30:34Speaker 2: fans to get that.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Yeah, what what was the name of the group that
- 30:40Speaker 3: they formed to back MJF when he climbed the ladder
- 30:43Speaker 3: to the devil so to win the briefcase? Oh, the firm,
- 30:48Speaker 3: the firm, And then like it just gone. And there's
- 30:50Speaker 3: never been an explanation to that.
- 30:54Speaker 2: You know, they basically said an interview, is that like
- 30:57Speaker 2: once Punk got injured and the whole brawl loud thing happened,
- 31:00Speaker 2: that it like completely screwed everything up, but then they
- 31:03Speaker 2: never really followed up with it.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean we've we've seen that wrestling before
- 31:08Speaker 3: where they start something, an injury kind of derails it,
- 31:11Speaker 3: but they still make it work or they still dance
- 31:15Speaker 3: around it for a little bit, and then there's but
- 31:18Speaker 3: there's usually a write off or a finality to it,
- 31:22Speaker 3: not just completely dropped. You know. Dear God, I'm just
- 31:26Speaker 3: waiting for Triple H to call Roderick Strong and be like,
- 31:30Speaker 3: wasn't when did Marina get in accents? You know, just
- 31:33Speaker 3: having Kobe flashbacks here, But like you know, like you said,
- 31:36Speaker 3: like the different little small subtleties of stuff the way
- 31:40Speaker 3: things are going on. Remember back when when the Fiend
- 31:44Speaker 3: was on top and everybody he wrestled changed afterwards, whether
- 31:49Speaker 3: it was Seth Rawns or Brian or Daniel Bryan or
- 31:51Speaker 3: whoever it was he was in the ring with. And
- 31:53Speaker 3: you see that now with a guy like carrying cross
- 31:56Speaker 3: like he had the interactions with with a Xavier was
- 31:59Speaker 3: and now we're seeing darker sunning. Xavier Wood's coming out.
- 32:01Speaker 3: He's had the interaction to Miz and then Miz turns
- 32:03Speaker 3: on our truth. Like, to me, those were great little
- 32:06Speaker 3: callback things, and you know, it always drove me nuts
- 32:10Speaker 3: when I would hear that, Oh, wrestling fans don't remember this.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Wrestling fans don't remember this.
- 32:15Speaker 3: If you're a fan of professional wrestling, you're in the
- 32:19Speaker 3: same book, in the same boat as Star Wars fans,
- 32:22Speaker 3: Star Trek fans, soap opera fans, comic book fans, and.
- 32:25Speaker 1: We remember everything.
- 32:28Speaker 3: We remember every detail of every interaction that goes on.
- 32:34Speaker 3: And it just used to drive me nuts when stuff
- 32:37Speaker 3: like that would go on, and we're like, hey.
- 32:39Speaker 1: Like, you know, I brought up a couple weeks ago.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I think I was like, when did Roderick Strong, Like
- 32:44Speaker 3: all of a sudden like hook and shake his hand
- 32:45Speaker 3: after a match like I thought he was a Like
- 32:47Speaker 3: things like that drive wrestling fans nuts.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It's that thorn that gets into our brain.
- 32:54Speaker 3: It's still I mean, to this day, Jeff, I still
- 32:57Speaker 3: don't know who the hell Katie Vick is.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Well, I none of us should, none of us.
- 33:03Speaker 1: But I mean I I and I had.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I had came up with my own storyline, like my
- 33:09Speaker 3: own theory in my head as to why that whole
- 33:11Speaker 3: thing played out.
- 33:12Speaker 1: And I was like, Okay, I have to.
- 33:14Speaker 3: Make up my own backstory to get that thorn out
- 33:18Speaker 3: of my brain. But different little things like that, We'll
- 33:22Speaker 3: just eat at people forever until there's, you know, some
- 33:26Speaker 3: kind of conclusive finish to a storyline.
- 33:30Speaker 1: We need beginnings and ends. We don't need just beginnings
- 33:33Speaker 1: and no ends.
- 33:33Speaker 3: And we don't need just random ends with no beginnings
- 33:36Speaker 3: like we need concrete storyline. Character development, which when I
- 33:41Speaker 3: heard Shawn Michael's introduced as the was he the senior
- 33:44Speaker 3: vice president of character Development.
- 33:47Speaker 2: That's where I heard it on n NEXTD on c W.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, that's an awesome title that that
- 33:53Speaker 3: gets you a promotion.
- 33:53Speaker 1: I think with the title like that.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that there's I like it in a
- 33:58Speaker 2: title because it is a major vocal point. There's not
- 34:01Speaker 2: just creative, it's like, how do I start to care
- 34:04Speaker 2: about these wrestlers? And that's the thing that at any
- 34:08Speaker 2: point of our wrestling fandom, whether it was caring about
- 34:11Speaker 2: Sting taking on Rick Flair or to take on Rick.
- 34:18Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of who else there Hogan during Hulcomania,
- 34:21Speaker 2: Steve Austin going after Vince McMahon, Brett Hart, Sean Michaels
- 34:27Speaker 2: Rock Austin Like there was a character development behind a
- 34:30Speaker 2: Doctor Trey and I'm just happy that they're doing that
- 34:33Speaker 2: right now with Cody Rhoades. So, I mean, that's that's
- 34:36Speaker 2: pretty exciting to see that. Yeah, speaking of Shawn michaels In,
- 34:42Speaker 2: character development is new role with w E. Let's talk
- 34:46Speaker 2: a little bit about the NXT debut on the CW Network.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Some notes I had written down Doctor Trey Roxane Perez
- 34:52Speaker 2: shockingly defeating Julia thanks for the help of the returning Corra.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Jade wes Lee defeats Zachary Wentz in an awesome street fight.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Austin Australian female star Delta appears to be NXT bound.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Trick Williams wins the NXC Championship. I'm still not feeling
- 35:07Speaker 2: Trick Williams matches, and then Seampunk takes out Ethan Page
- 35:11Speaker 2: to close the show, which was pretty funny. During the confetti,
- 35:14Speaker 2: you just see a gts. Overall, I thought it was
- 35:16Speaker 2: a great, crowd, solid show. I don't know if I'm
- 35:19Speaker 2: digging the new NXT logo yet, but those are some
- 35:22Speaker 2: of my thoughts from NXD on the CW network.
- 35:26Speaker 3: I actually really enjoyed the show. I actually watched it live,
- 35:28Speaker 3: which is a rarity for me with kids and everything
- 35:32Speaker 3: else going on the world. That rock Stand and Julia
- 35:35Speaker 3: match was really good. There's a couple of spots in there.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Once again Julia brand new to the company, but I
- 35:39Speaker 3: thought they did that match really well. The Core Jade
- 35:43Speaker 3: return was surprising because I didn't know she had been
- 35:45Speaker 3: kind of cleared to come back. But that was great
- 35:49Speaker 3: that the I mean, everybody lists the show knows. I'm
- 35:51Speaker 3: a huge Wes Lee fan, known the guy for forever.
- 35:54Speaker 3: I've known Zach Wentz forever now as well. That was
- 35:57Speaker 3: just one of the most fun, entertaining. Like Street Fight
- 35:59Speaker 3: match is in a long time women's tag match was
- 36:04Speaker 3: a little bit kind of but and I'm kind of
- 36:07Speaker 3: with you, like the Trick getting the belt back. The
- 36:09Speaker 3: crowd loves Trick Williams, but man, I can only I
- 36:13Speaker 3: can only watch so many of his matches and I'm like,
- 36:15Speaker 3: it's still kind of off at times. To me, that
- 36:18Speaker 3: was more of a hey, let's put the belt back
- 36:20Speaker 3: on Trick to let the crowd go home happy. I
- 36:23Speaker 3: guess his character development arc of trying to figure out
- 36:26Speaker 3: if he could bounce back after losing the title and
- 36:29Speaker 3: having to go talk to all the former champions, get
- 36:32Speaker 3: beat up by Pete Dunn, and then now defeat you know,
- 36:35Speaker 3: Ethan Page is kind of the.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Climax of this.
- 36:39Speaker 3: And I'm really looking forward to Saria's show because the
- 36:42Speaker 3: orcuse Me next Tuesday show in Saint Louis. The Tony
- 36:47Speaker 3: d Obafemi on Miss TV was was pretty entertaining and
- 36:51Speaker 3: leading into this match and then, uh, I don't know
- 36:54Speaker 3: if it's been announced, but I saw it on Twitter
- 36:56Speaker 3: Randy Orton and Javon Evans that.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Has been announced. I mean they're basically setting it up
- 37:03Speaker 2: for a wild rcho.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Yeah, like I am, I am I'm all in on
- 37:07Speaker 3: that match because it kind of reminds me of the
- 37:11Speaker 3: Mustafa Aldie Randy Orton stuff before Mustafa got hurt and
- 37:15Speaker 3: we got Koche Maney out of it.
- 37:17Speaker 1: So I'm really excited for the show.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I like. I don't know if I like the tweaks
- 37:22Speaker 3: to the belt. I think it's kind of necessary, but
- 37:24Speaker 3: I do like they say, hey, it's new, it's new show.
- 37:26Speaker 3: We got you to get new belts. The logo, eh,
- 37:29Speaker 3: But I like that it's already being referred to as
- 37:32Speaker 3: the Black and Silver era, So I don't know if
- 37:35Speaker 3: I like. I mean, I like it because it's close
- 37:37Speaker 3: to Black and Goal but not quite there. But also,
- 37:40Speaker 3: as a forty hundred fan, I hate the Raiders and
- 37:41Speaker 3: they're the Black and Silver.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Okay, I'm born.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Hey, that's fair enough. Sometimes when those things happen. As
- 37:47Speaker 2: sports fans, we see our sports fandom come out professional wrestling. Yeah,
- 37:51Speaker 2: it was a very solid debut on the CW network.
- 37:56Speaker 2: NXT has been a really good brand over the last
- 37:58Speaker 2: six months or so, and it's been a very solid
- 38:01Speaker 2: year for them, and I hope it. Hope it continues.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I presume Stephanie vak Kor will be coming soon to NXT.
- 38:10Speaker 2: I think maybe there's some rumblings for her to appear
- 38:13Speaker 2: in the Saint Louis show. The Tony d Obafemi storyline
- 38:18Speaker 2: is Rocky three, which is kind of funny because it
- 38:21Speaker 2: wasn't the whole thing Moxley was complaining about with Sam
- 38:24Speaker 2: Punk during the aw stuff. I like Punk a lot
- 38:30Speaker 2: in NXT as well. I think he's a great fit
- 38:34Speaker 2: when he's on that brand. Again. I think the only
- 38:37Speaker 2: takeaway Doctor Trey is I hate to say this because
- 38:40Speaker 2: I really like him as a character. The entering workers
- 38:43Speaker 2: not that much, and I don't know if they have
- 38:45Speaker 2: any other choices right now, but I just is it
- 38:48Speaker 2: possible that w W is potentially pushing Trick Williams down
- 38:52Speaker 2: our throat a little too much?
- 38:56Speaker 3: Maybe because he's he's probably the biggest NXT merch mover,
- 39:00Speaker 3: because whoop that Trick is a fun little chamber, but
- 39:03Speaker 3: he get behind. I'm just wondering if this move is
- 39:07Speaker 3: setting up Tony d to defeat Oba Femi, for Oba
- 39:11Speaker 3: to move up to the heavyweight contendership, you know, and
- 39:15Speaker 3: move that along, and then we get Trick and Oba
- 39:18Speaker 3: down the road, and then we can do two African
- 39:21Speaker 3: American men fighting for the NAC Championship, that type of stuff.
- 39:24Speaker 3: He's kind of doing the Carmelo trick angle, but with
- 39:28Speaker 3: a much bigger man. I'm just curious see what they
- 39:32Speaker 3: do with some of these guys that have been in
- 39:33Speaker 3: the undercard, like O Wesley his he O run. What
- 39:36Speaker 3: do you do with Oba Femi since he's been the
- 39:38Speaker 3: champion for so long? Do you use the time to
- 39:40Speaker 3: move him up so and then now what do you
- 39:43Speaker 3: do with Ethan Page with him dropping the belt?
- 39:45Speaker 1: How does that whole thing play out?
- 39:47Speaker 3: So it leaves some questions in the storylines and does
- 39:51Speaker 3: when Stephanie vakor comes in, do we get Stephanie and
- 39:54Speaker 3: Julia against Roxanne and Korra Because I'm kind of on
- 39:59Speaker 3: board for that one.
- 40:00Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I think that is a potential direction that
- 40:03Speaker 2: they go and keep an eye on the NXC women's
- 40:06Speaker 2: division because that is about to explode here very soon.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I mean, they were very, very good under and mid
- 40:12Speaker 2: card in the NXC women's division. I said months ago,
- 40:15Speaker 2: I thought it was one of the most deepest women's
- 40:16Speaker 2: division in all professional wrestling, and I feel like we're
- 40:20Speaker 2: on the verge of it. Exploding here in late twenty
- 40:23Speaker 2: twenty four and certainly in twenty twenty five with some
- 40:25Speaker 2: really big additions. Delta, who I've read some good things
- 40:28Speaker 2: about from the Australian wrestling scene. As I mentioned before,
- 40:31Speaker 2: Stephanie Vakhor, who we saw at Forbiddendor in aw New
- 40:36Speaker 2: Japan back in June, Julia who we've been seeing here.
- 40:39Speaker 2: Roxanne Perez has been really good as a heel. Cor
- 40:42Speaker 2: Jate is really good as a heel, so I'm happy
- 40:43Speaker 2: to see her back. Klonnie Jordan has been very fun
- 40:46Speaker 2: as a North American women's champion. So yeah, keep an
- 40:50Speaker 2: eye on the NXC women's division, folk, because that may
- 40:53Speaker 2: be the most exciting wrestling division in all of professional wrestling.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Soon enough, so views on the CW Network. I did
- 41:02Speaker 2: not know I had the CW Network, so that was
- 41:04Speaker 2: very exciting to find once they made this announcement. So
- 41:07Speaker 2: congrats all around, very solid show. Looking forward to Saint
- 41:09Speaker 2: Louis this upcoming Tuesday. Speaking of upcoming shows, Doctor Trey,
- 41:14Speaker 2: we have Bad Blood premium predictions here takes place this
- 41:18Speaker 2: Saturday from the State Farm Marine in Atlanta, Georgia. Before
- 41:20Speaker 2: we go match by match, Bad Blood is an old
- 41:24Speaker 2: wrestling pay per view. It was the debut of Helena
- 41:28Speaker 2: sel Seawn Michaels and The Undertaker back in ninety seven.
- 41:32Speaker 2: I think it will be on October fifth, ninety seven.
- 41:35Speaker 2: It was then in your House Bad Blood. When do
- 41:38Speaker 2: you think the last WA bad When was the last
- 41:42Speaker 2: time WA had a pay per view named bad Blood?
- 41:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna say s i' musa say two thousand, two
- 41:51Speaker 3: thousand and one.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Very close. It was two thousand and four, So twenty
- 41:55Speaker 2: years later, Bad Blood has returned. Let's get to the
- 42:00Speaker 2: first match on the card here. It's gonna be Damian
- 42:04Speaker 2: Priest taking on Finn Balor. This is a tough one
- 42:07Speaker 2: to call Doctor Trey, but I'm gonna go with Damian Priest.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:12Speaker 3: This one's tricky because typically these rivalries last a little while,
- 42:17Speaker 3: and this is their first one on one meeting. I
- 42:20Speaker 3: think I'm gonna take Finn stealing a victory here, So
- 42:23Speaker 3: I'll take Finn stealing one from Damian Priest to set
- 42:27Speaker 3: up the rematch with some kind of you know, stipulation
- 42:30Speaker 3: on it.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Next match is Live Morgan taken on Rida Ripley for
- 42:33Speaker 2: the WA Women's World Championship. Dirty Dom we suspended above
- 42:37Speaker 2: the ring in a shark cage. Who do you like
- 42:39Speaker 2: in this one? Doctor Trey?
- 42:40Speaker 3: See this one's tricky also because liv won the last one,
- 42:44Speaker 3: so you expect Ria to get a revenge. But if
- 42:46Speaker 3: I'm not mistaken, the last couple times we've had people
- 42:50Speaker 3: in shark cages, the heels have won those matches, Like
- 42:54Speaker 3: I remember Paul Ellering being in one for an AOP
- 42:57Speaker 3: match in NXT and he was able to drop stuff
- 43:00Speaker 3: down to help them win. So I think I'm gonna
- 43:06Speaker 3: take Ria thoughs I think everybody wants to see Ria
- 43:08Speaker 3: get the wins. I think I'll take Ria getting the
- 43:09Speaker 3: win in becoming the new women's champion.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take Ria Ripley as well. I'm really
- 43:14Speaker 2: looking forward to this one. I like the sharkage element,
- 43:16Speaker 2: I like Dirty Don being in the shark cage, and
- 43:19Speaker 2: this has been a good few but I think it's
- 43:21Speaker 2: time to put the championship back on Rihea lives had
- 43:23Speaker 2: a great run with the title, but I'd like to
- 43:26Speaker 2: see Ria get the championship back on because if she
- 43:28Speaker 2: doesn't get it now, I guess when will she get it?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Because we're gonna head into war games, which she may
- 43:34Speaker 2: be involved with, and then we're looking at what maybe
- 43:37Speaker 2: the first episode on Netflix, maybe they do a rematch
- 43:40Speaker 2: with her and live for that episode, because you got
- 43:42Speaker 2: to figure that's gonna be who huge episode. So I
- 43:45Speaker 2: can't see them going a couple more months without Ria
- 43:48Speaker 2: having having the championship around her way. So I'm gonna
- 43:50Speaker 2: go with Ria Ripley to regain the WA Women's World Championship.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Next batch year is Naijacks defending the WA Women's Championship
- 43:58Speaker 2: against Bailey. I'm gonna take Naya Jackson this one. And
- 44:01Speaker 2: for all the good things that we say about creative,
- 44:04Speaker 2: well I like the creative that got us to this match,
- 44:06Speaker 2: Doctor Trey. I just kind of feel like that the
- 44:08Speaker 2: SmackDown Went's division has been a little bit too one dimensional,
- 44:11Speaker 2: with Nijack's Bailey matches taking place a lot.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Yeah, outside of Naya Bailey and Tiffitty Stretton, who I
- 44:17Speaker 3: don't even know who else is on the SmackDown Women's
- 44:19Speaker 3: roster pretty much like that's pretty much all we ever see.
- 44:22Speaker 2: So yeah, really Blair Davenport's on there, but that's kind
- 44:26Speaker 2: of falling off.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Yeah, but I thought Blair was doing stuff with the
- 44:29Speaker 3: Unholy Union at times, and they're on raws, so it's
- 44:32Speaker 3: just like she's on their roster. But then we see
- 44:35Speaker 3: her pop up on PL's they get involved in, you know, Alba,
- 44:39Speaker 3: Fire Island Dawn matches. So I'm looking forward when they
- 44:43Speaker 3: shake their rosters up to get some more women back
- 44:45Speaker 3: on SmackDown or with SmackDown goes to three hours. I'm
- 44:48Speaker 3: with you, though, I'm taking Naya to retain just because
- 44:52Speaker 3: it feels like she needs a little bit of time
- 44:54Speaker 3: with the Belt. I know it's hard to book this
- 44:57Speaker 3: because Nya's amm and she has Tiffany stretton kind of
- 45:01Speaker 3: his backup, but I mean this could be where she
- 45:04Speaker 3: gets on an dominant ron and she goes, you know,
- 45:08Speaker 3: three hundred days with the Belt, and then whoever thrones
- 45:10Speaker 3: are is a big push.
- 45:11Speaker 1: So I'll take Naye at retaining right now.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Keep an eye on the stuff with Tiffany Stratton. They
- 45:15Speaker 2: are starting to lead up to the idea of Tiffany
- 45:20Speaker 2: eventually turning on Nie and maybe cashing in. I thought
- 45:23Speaker 2: this whole stuff with n I was gonna be leading
- 45:24Speaker 2: to the return of Charlotte Flair Queen versus Queen but
- 45:27Speaker 2: there's some rumors out there that Charlotte may not be
- 45:30Speaker 2: back in twenty twenty four at all from the injury
- 45:32Speaker 2: she sustained back in December of twenty twenty three. Next
- 45:37Speaker 2: match here, and I think I thought this match should
- 45:39Speaker 2: be headlining main eventing the show Doctor Trey. According to reports,
- 45:42Speaker 2: it'll be the opener CM Punk versus Drew McIntyre in
- 45:47Speaker 2: a Helen of Cell match. Who do you like in
- 45:49Speaker 2: this one?
- 45:50Speaker 3: Yeah? See, baby Faces and Helen of Cell matches typically
- 45:55Speaker 3: have the upper hand, so I'm gonna take Punk. Plus
- 45:58Speaker 3: I feel like they might move Punk on to Gunther
- 46:00Speaker 3: or something else, so I'm gonna say Punk getting the win.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take Seampunk as well. The reports out
- 46:06Speaker 2: there right now that we'll be getting Punk and gun
- 46:07Speaker 2: through here soon enough. And then what is reportedly main
- 46:11Speaker 2: eventing Doctor Trey will be Cody Roads and Roman Reigns
- 46:13Speaker 2: taking on Solica Coo on Jacob Fat two. This is
- 46:16Speaker 2: a real tough one to call. I want to choose
- 46:19Speaker 2: Solo in Jacob Fat two, but I'm gonna go with
- 46:21Speaker 2: Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in this one to win
- 46:24Speaker 2: this match.
- 46:25Speaker 3: Do you feel like our predicted Survivor series wargame match
- 46:29Speaker 3: with the Bloodline against the OG blood Line is completely
- 46:32Speaker 3: out the window, and we get Cody, Roman, Randy and
- 46:35Speaker 3: Ko against the New Blood Line.
- 46:37Speaker 2: I do think that may be the direction, not even Yeah,
- 46:40Speaker 2: I was thinking that during that actual actually that segment
- 46:43Speaker 2: where Cody was talking with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton
- 46:46Speaker 2: and they were setting up I think the tag team
- 46:48Speaker 2: match later that tonight for SmackDown.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Yeah, So, on one hand's kind of disappointing that we
- 46:53Speaker 3: might not get O G Bloodline against New Blood Line
- 46:56Speaker 3: anytime soon, but that with the storyline, it could be
- 46:59Speaker 3: very freaking does do we get Ko or Randy turning
- 47:02Speaker 3: on Cody in the cell for war Games? But it's
- 47:07Speaker 3: hard to pick because I really want to pick Solo
- 47:09Speaker 3: and Jacob because I think I think they need the
- 47:12Speaker 3: win more than Cody and Roman, so I think they
- 47:18Speaker 3: wanna take the upset. They're gonna take Solo and Jacob
- 47:20Speaker 3: getting the win over Roman and Cody.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Who should be main eventing Bad Blood in your opinion,
- 47:25Speaker 2: by the way.
- 47:26Speaker 3: See I'm punk and Drew McIntyre. Yeah, it's the better feud,
- 47:31Speaker 3: it's the more I mean that's the feud. I mean
- 47:33Speaker 3: you look all the blood all of a sudden they've
- 47:35Speaker 3: put into this. Like, I get the storyline is great,
- 47:38Speaker 3: but you know for Cody and Roman and all that stuff.
- 47:41Speaker 3: But I mean, this feud has kind of carried the
- 47:43Speaker 3: company for the past four or five six months.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I think something big is going to happen and that
- 47:49Speaker 2: is why this match is headlining Bad Blood. I don't
- 47:54Speaker 2: know if you saw the clip this week, Doctor Trey,
- 47:56Speaker 2: but Cody Rhodes was on the Pat McAfee show and
- 47:59Speaker 2: they clip I think on McAfee's account or something, and
- 48:04Speaker 2: it was some sort of and wrestled Puris pulled it
- 48:06Speaker 2: off of Twitter and Cody Rhodes going around thinking everybody
- 48:09Speaker 2: for having him on the show. And you hear Pat
- 48:11Speaker 2: McAfee said, I heard we're getting the big Guy back
- 48:15Speaker 2: this weekend, and Cody kind of was like caught off guard,
- 48:19Speaker 2: like holy crap, he knows and he's like, what big
- 48:22Speaker 2: guy are you talking about? And I think it was
- 48:25Speaker 2: something like like the big Guy And to me, I
- 48:27Speaker 2: jumped to either Paul Hayman or the Rock, so it
- 48:32Speaker 2: could be Paul Hayman returns. That's the big guy that
- 48:36Speaker 2: Pat McAfee's talking about, but I'm also thinking when he
- 48:39Speaker 2: says the big guy, he may be meeting Dwayne the
- 48:42Speaker 2: Rock Johnson. I think something big is going down this
- 48:45Speaker 2: Saturday at Bad Blood.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Doctor Trey Well, and if that's the case, I saw that.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I'm sure he saw it too.
- 48:52Speaker 3: Brock Lesner has been added back onto the WWE page,
- 48:56Speaker 3: so Brock could be a big guy.
- 48:58Speaker 1: But I don't think Brock fits in here.
- 48:59Speaker 3: But if Rock comes back, I mean Rock and solo
- 49:05Speaker 3: against Brock and Roman at some points, you know, like that,
- 49:08Speaker 3: it would be kind of cool, and we've never seen
- 49:09Speaker 3: that happen. So yeah, I do think if this is
- 49:13Speaker 3: the main event, you're getting something big to happen at
- 49:16Speaker 3: the end of the match, because otherwise you'd go with
- 49:18Speaker 3: punkin McIntire.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Yeah, So interesting times ahead to here Bad Blood this
- 49:22Speaker 2: Saturday from Atlanta, Georgia. We will recap and review it
