- 0:04Speaker 1: Hi, Hey, you going?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey, how are you Mitch? If I go yes, that's
- 0:09Speaker 2: me awesome.
- 0:10Speaker 1: How are you good? How are you?
- 0:12Speaker 2: I'm good, I'm good. Nice shirt by the way, Yeah.
- 0:16Speaker 1: The butterfly.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I think I've got some tatty butterfly tattoo as well.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got mine's butterfly. I don't know if you
- 0:23Speaker 2: can say it. It's it's lyrics on my arm. Don't worry,
- 0:29Speaker 2: we got it.
- 0:29Speaker 4: We got it.
- 0:32Speaker 2: That's so funny. How are you good?
- 0:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not too bad. I've had a few lessons
- 0:36Speaker 3: today and it's it's winding up.
- 0:39Speaker 1: So teaching obviously, yes, yes.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Yes, your drums or guitar neither.
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm the vocalist.
- 0:53Speaker 2: The vocalist I see teaching. That's awesome to screamer.
- 0:58Speaker 1: When like, I know that all of it, everything in between.
- 1:02Speaker 2: That's what I say. I don't I sing a capital letters?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, there you go. That makes sense right.
- 1:09Speaker 2: So yeah, likewise awesome. So you guys have just dropped
- 1:12Speaker 2: a fresh new album.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, we have really excited about that. That's it's been
- 1:18Speaker 3: a long time coming. So we're very very happy to
- 1:23Speaker 3: have put it out to the world now. And we're
- 1:25Speaker 3: receiving some really cool feedback from it, So that's.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Great, awesome, awesome, Yeah, because you guys have been doing
- 1:31Speaker 4: your things for a little while now, since the twenty
- 1:33Speaker 4: ten is it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I think almost fifteen years. It's all fifteen years.
- 1:38Speaker 2: If not, you're almost.
- 1:43Speaker 3: If not, it's not like twenty eleven ten somewhere around there.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But yeah, a long time.
- 1:48Speaker 3: So we've had quite a lot of releases actually over
- 1:51Speaker 3: that amount of time.
- 1:52Speaker 4: But yeah, is it your first full album or is
- 1:55Speaker 4: it just.
- 1:56Speaker 1: No, so this is our sophomore record.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So our first first album was Costly Signals
- 2:05Speaker 3: that came out March second, twenty twenty.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Right, wow, okay, so it was a bit of a
- 2:09Speaker 2: gap from when he.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Started to very much and sadly, so we brought the
- 2:14Speaker 3: Wreck Costly Signals out in twenty twenty and I think
- 2:18Speaker 3: maybe not even two weeks later COVID.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Right, So we had had organized lots of tours.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Course, yeah, yeah, actually going down here the album with
- 2:31Speaker 3: a lot of people.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 2:33Speaker 2: But yeah, when you've got a tour that was planned, that's.
- 2:36Speaker 3: We had multiple plans, so there's a bit of a
- 2:39Speaker 3: kick in the guards.
- 2:40Speaker 1: But so yeah, it's been five years. I mean, look, realistically,
- 2:45Speaker 1: the writing did not necessarily take five years. There are
- 2:49Speaker 1: a couple of.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Songs that we were actually, funnily enough writing before Costly Signals.
- 2:55Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, so back catalogs, and we ended
- 3:00Speaker 3: up putting them on the new record. They were they
- 3:01Speaker 3: weren't fully fledged songs, they were just riffs and bits
- 3:04Speaker 3: and pieces.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But yeah, we ended up.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Throwing them on the new record, and we were a
- 3:10Speaker 3: little bit unsure about how this record would be sort
- 3:12Speaker 3: of taken by a lot of our community or the
- 3:18Speaker 3: metal community.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It's been really great so far.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Oh that's awesome.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys have had a bit of time to
- 3:24Speaker 4: you know, to build that fan base, and I think,
- 3:26Speaker 4: you know, with COVID, that's really strengthened a lot of
- 3:29Speaker 4: you know, artists, you know, where they found they found
- 3:33Speaker 4: their groove so to speak, partly, but yeah, it's I think.
- 3:39Speaker 3: A lot of people got the opportunity to like, like,
- 3:42Speaker 3: it's it's kind of like a double edged sword because
- 3:44Speaker 3: a lot of people had the opportunity to listen to
- 3:46Speaker 3: our previous record cost of Six when they weren't doing anything,
- 3:50Speaker 3: they had been nothing to do.
- 3:52Speaker 1: So absolutely, but you know, the sort of.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Reference that we've had from this record so far from
- 4:00Speaker 3: our audience has been super cool. Yeah, we're happy to
- 4:04Speaker 3: at least not have gone downhill.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It's possible.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Why don't you guys have got a certain you know,
- 4:10Speaker 4: its status. I think it just grows from there. You might,
- 4:13Speaker 4: you know, sometimes it may be a hiatus from here
- 4:16Speaker 4: to there, and but you know it's I don't think
- 4:19Speaker 4: you never go downhill. It's you know, artists and musicians
- 4:22Speaker 4: are like fine wine, you want to get better with age.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Thank you for that.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Ali, That's okay, include this, which is not going to happen.
- 4:32Speaker 2: We'll cut this good out. It's like, you know, I
- 4:36Speaker 2: see the like the little signs on the road. It's
- 4:38Speaker 2: like Koala's crossed here at dusk. It's like they do
- 4:42Speaker 2: they know about daylight saving.
- 4:43Speaker 5: It's like, okay, so I know it's not dust yet,
- 4:54Speaker 5: all right, maybe we should get this going.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Okay. So yeah, so you're your outBut it is cool.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Our album is called Deeper Wells of Meaning of Meaning.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I'm out on the twenty eighth of this November, twenty
- 5:09Speaker 3: eighth of November.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And you've got some pretty awesome artwork too. It's pretty.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I like the artwork for the album. It's so it
- 5:14Speaker 2: ruins me of one of the Delta Rigs older albums
- 5:18Speaker 2: they did.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Oh also, I think I think I remember a lot
- 5:21Speaker 1: of this stuff.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Actually, yeah, we literally had a review done recently from
- 5:29Speaker 3: some glad from South America.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I'm not a man, I believe, I'm not.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Sure, and he said something about, like the the art
- 5:36Speaker 3: looking somewhat seventies.
- 5:39Speaker 2: It does.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't know if I agree with that.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I mean, like, I think it's cool that.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I'll do a screenshot of like the Rigs one that
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm thinking of, and yeah, and yours and put them together,
- 5:50Speaker 2: because no, it is, it's very seventies.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It's very I get it, because it's it's you know
- 5:55Speaker 3: what what we try to go for, I guess in
- 5:58Speaker 3: one weird way.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Other is that you know, like we know that we're
- 6:04Speaker 1: a band that really likes.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Vinyl, right yeah, yeah, yeah, you know how important it
- 6:08Speaker 3: is to have cool art, right and not.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Not just on a CD, but like on a vinyl
- 6:15Speaker 1: so that we see it.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Holden, sit there and listen to a bit present have
- 6:20Speaker 3: to you know, like flip the you know, look at
- 6:24Speaker 3: the listen to the words, read the words along with it,
- 6:27Speaker 3: so on and so forth, and we were really happy.
- 6:30Speaker 1: So Adam Burke his name is.
- 6:32Speaker 3: He's an American artist, I believe, don't quote me on that,
- 6:36Speaker 3: and so we actually had him as a part of
- 6:43Speaker 3: our last record, Costly Signals, but it was an artwork
- 6:47Speaker 3: that he had previously already done that we had to
- 6:50Speaker 3: use for Costly Signals. Yeah, in twenty twenty. And this
- 6:55Speaker 3: new record did be worlds of meaning we commissioned him
- 6:59Speaker 3: to do, so we awesome.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Is this the first time you guys have done vinyl?
- 7:03Speaker 3: No, So Costly Signals was a vinyl and I think
- 7:07Speaker 3: it's a double LP. So Christy Signals went for just
- 7:10Speaker 3: over an hour. Yeah, wow, so it was a double
- 7:14Speaker 3: vinyl sort of thing.
- 7:15Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a really nice, nicely produced vinyl. Yeah
- 7:21Speaker 3: one is just as cool. And we've got some really
- 7:25Speaker 3: interesting colors going for some of the special editions.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Oh that's cool.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I just was having that conversation with with Matt from
- 7:35Speaker 4: I'm Seen before because they've just read at least that
- 7:37Speaker 4: fortith anniversary and it's on vinyl as well.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And forty but yeah, and it's the vinyl. It just
- 7:46Speaker 2: gives you that. I mean, it's the edge really but
- 7:48Speaker 2: even like the wax that you can use, like the
- 7:50Speaker 2: awesome colors you can repress the minutes. It's dope, it's
- 7:53Speaker 2: the way to do it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: We just we just love being able to hold something.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Oh I don't believe the.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Real artwork that Adam Burke he did which isn't an
- 8:05Speaker 3: oil painting so yeah right, no, Ai, it's not digital nothing.
- 8:10Speaker 3: He sits there and paints these things from start to finish.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Which is amazing.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Yeah. So like commissioning him to do so was very
- 8:19Speaker 1: very expensive.
- 8:20Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, really really well worth it because I think
- 8:24Speaker 3: like a good twenty percent of the thumbs up that
- 8:28Speaker 3: we have on you know, the album that we've done
- 8:31Speaker 3: recently has been because the artwork kind of matches or
- 8:36Speaker 3: suits the musical movement.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Yeah, and it is then you've got a gig and
- 8:41Speaker 4: you're like, especially if it's a festival and you've got
- 8:42Speaker 4: a couple of artists and you see the difference between
- 8:45Speaker 4: them merch and like, you know, you want to have
- 8:48Speaker 4: good artwork and it's integral and even the design of
- 8:51Speaker 4: the merch like it's you know, sometimes like the coolest
- 8:54Speaker 4: merch is not necessarily your favorite band, which is a
- 8:57Speaker 4: bit sad sometimes like.
- 8:58Speaker 3: No, well, dude, I I merch from bands that I
- 9:01Speaker 3: don't even listen to, yeah, you know what I mean.
- 9:05Speaker 2: And thing, but like as from something. I got one
- 9:09Speaker 2: of the Waifs because it was literally like a like
- 9:12Speaker 2: a record player, and I'm just like, that's dope. But
- 9:14Speaker 2: it was old school. We had beas Wars come over
- 9:17Speaker 2: a few months weeks ago, and and I love different merch,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and they had like these rugby shorts and I'm like, yes,
- 9:23Speaker 2: I'm gonna.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Mow my lord. Yeah shorts, Rugby shorts.
- 9:27Speaker 2: These are so cool even like, you know.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I've always said to the city guys things like beer,
- 9:37Speaker 3: what are the stubby coolers?
- 9:39Speaker 1: Stubby coolers? Yeah, Americans would call them beer cozies. So
- 9:48Speaker 1: here's the deal. Do you remember those those frisbees we
- 9:54Speaker 1: used to get as kids, which were just.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Like a like a little like metal or or i
- 10:02Speaker 3: don't know, a little sort of bar and they would
- 10:06Speaker 3: put fabric over it and you could almost like fall
- 10:09Speaker 3: oh yeah.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, like the twisty ones, Yeah yeah yeah, like
- 10:12Speaker 4: the pop up tents and stuff.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Yeah, like exactly the same thing. Right, We've always wanted
- 10:17Speaker 1: to get those sorts of because I have.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Seen a band do little Frisbee ones and but it
- 10:24Speaker 4: was made out of I think it was wet sup material.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But it was a good idea of merch.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I thought many years ago, I was like, we should
- 10:30Speaker 3: get frisbees made because how much cool like and as
- 10:34Speaker 3: if you can get like plastic frisbees made, they fucking
- 10:37Speaker 3: you know, pull people's teeth outs.
- 10:40Speaker 1: You can do it yourself. Those little fabric ones way cooler.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, And you know, I.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Think majority of bands make their money through merch.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Now merch, you know that's that that's been standard for
- 10:58Speaker 4: for a fair while.
- 10:59Speaker 2: But buy more vinyl and.
- 11:01Speaker 3: I'm like, yes, you know, vinyls really helped bands out
- 11:04Speaker 3: because absolutely more expensive to produce, make more money from them.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And the thing is it's more of a keepsake than
- 11:13Speaker 3: just a you're throwing your car and you forget about.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So it's something that.
- 11:19Speaker 4: You will put on, you know, and we don't even
- 11:21Speaker 4: have anything at the moment, like it's a digital download.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Its like you know.
- 11:26Speaker 3: That bi vinyls don't even have vinyl players to play
- 11:29Speaker 3: them all that.
- 11:30Speaker 2: You know that that that joy of like you know,
- 11:32Speaker 2: digging for records, you know, finding like an obscure piece
- 11:35Speaker 2: and doing cool stuff with her. It's true. The Vinyl Reviver,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you know, I'm all for.
- 11:41Speaker 4: It, and I think personally that it actually sounds better
- 11:45Speaker 4: on a good sound system.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I think that, you know, the recording on a good
- 11:48Speaker 1: sound system.
- 11:48Speaker 4: Yeah, correct, Yeah, you're not like like your old you
- 11:51Speaker 4: know one from you from the lounger and back in
- 11:54Speaker 4: the edities.
- 11:55Speaker 3: No, well, you know, like it's it's really cool. My
- 11:59Speaker 3: Greek so my Yea Bubu used to have this really
- 12:03Speaker 3: old school.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Sort of piece of furniture which was they were my
- 12:10Speaker 1: shelf and this and that.
- 12:12Speaker 2: From his master's voice or something like that.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Hang on, that is so cool. It is his master's voice.
- 12:19Speaker 2: That was, like, it really is.
- 12:21Speaker 1: And do you know do you remember what the logo
- 12:23Speaker 1: for his master's voice that.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Was a little dog and like that the ground. Yeah, dude,
- 12:28Speaker 2: that's so cool.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I love this I remember anyway, regardless.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Final is the way to go. It is. Yeah, you
- 12:36Speaker 2: guys are touring with your new release.
- 12:39Speaker 1: So we do have plans to tour in twenty twenty six.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Got a show coming up just locally though, don't you
- 12:47Speaker 4: in l a Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So we've got the launch show on the thirteenth, Yeah, too.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Far away it.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Is. That's with Adriatic Wings of Thanatos.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And Kaiper Oh cool, awesome.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yeah, so we're going to have a great time doing
- 13:06Speaker 1: that just to our friends and fans.
- 13:08Speaker 4: And yeah, Adelade's got such a cool like you've got
- 13:11Speaker 4: a really strong music, you know, seen down there.
- 13:14Speaker 2: It's it's pretty awesome.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, we're very we're very blessed.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think a lot of other Australian
- 13:21Speaker 3: states would you know, undermine Adelaide as not being you know, like.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Out of the artists that I speak to that most
- 13:28Speaker 4: the majority of them Brisbane Adelaide. There are so many
- 13:31Speaker 4: others from Adelaide that I had interviewed and spoke to
- 13:33Speaker 4: over the tight.
- 13:34Speaker 1: That's what I want. That's what we all want, right, and.
- 13:37Speaker 2: It's great and you get them from everywhere. But yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 2: just the the amount of times I'm like, oh, hailing
- 13:44Speaker 2: from Radelaide yet Againdelaide, I've always thought it here.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Well, you know, hopefully soon. We don't have any official
- 13:54Speaker 3: plans to tour at the moment, but yeah, we're right
- 13:56Speaker 3: on it and hopefully we do a few next year.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Yeah, like literally since COVID we hadn't had the time
- 14:07Speaker 3: and money to do so.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And you know, just like the it gets a little
- 14:12Speaker 1: bit fluffy.
- 14:13Speaker 2: It does. It gets to tour, you know, it gets
- 14:15Speaker 2: a bit expensive, you know, so much you need to
- 14:17Speaker 2: win the old band here and stuff. Earl.
- 14:19Speaker 1: There is a tough country to tour in. It can be, Yeah,
- 14:24Speaker 1: well it can be. I think it is to be.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, even just doing the majors, you find that.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Expensive.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Every single capital city city is as far away as
- 14:37Speaker 3: it can be.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it's true.
- 14:39Speaker 4: We've got that space and distance and you know, even
- 14:42Speaker 4: on a tool bus.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Then it becomes a time factor.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Yeah, we don't generally drive. That's that's almost more waste
- 14:49Speaker 3: of time. We love going to Perth, but it's just
- 14:52Speaker 3: so expensive.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yeah it is.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It's we love Perth, like.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I think we've got a really nice following in Perth
- 14:59Speaker 3: and it's yet it's sad that we can't get there
- 15:02Speaker 3: as often as we would like to be.
- 15:04Speaker 1: Yeah, So hopefully we're.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Doing a lot more touring in the next couple of years,
- 15:10Speaker 3: but specifically in the sort of early to mid of
- 15:14Speaker 3: next year.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Because you guys are independent as well. You're not signed
- 15:16Speaker 2: to a label.
- 15:17Speaker 1: No, we are. We were.
- 15:19Speaker 3: We were previously independent right for the release of costly signals,
- 15:23Speaker 3: but recently we've re signed to wild Thing. So yeah,
- 15:29Speaker 3: so we were with wild Thing many years ago when oh, gosh,
- 15:34Speaker 3: I'm not going to give you specific data.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Some time ago.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we were with wild Thing some time ago when
- 15:42Speaker 3: we were pretty heavily involved with Caligula's Horse and a
- 15:45Speaker 3: lot of those other like prog.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Bands in Australia.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Yeah, we'd always you know, kept involved with wild Thing
- 15:52Speaker 3: and the guys from wild Thing, but we chose to
- 15:57Speaker 3: sign with them again because it's going to help us
- 15:59Speaker 3: and it's.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Not absolutely Yeah, it helps with motion, it helps with
- 16:03Speaker 4: you know, touring sometimes it's all of that. Sometimes it's
- 16:06Speaker 4: good to have someone else to you, not very non
- 16:09Speaker 4: binding contracts, which most of them guys are pretty good
- 16:11Speaker 4: at the days.
- 16:13Speaker 3: The cool thing about it is is that we're friends
- 16:15Speaker 3: more than anything else.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I've got that relationship with our label as well.
- 16:19Speaker 4: It's yeah, yeah, it's and it's good. You know, it's
- 16:23Speaker 4: good to have that, you know, established behind you as
- 16:26Speaker 4: well as the as say, a friendship and just to
- 16:30Speaker 4: just give you that a little bit of elevation, and
- 16:32Speaker 4: you know helps when you connect other musicians and artists together,
- 16:35Speaker 4: because then you can you know, if you're doing it.
- 16:37Speaker 4: You know, it's like a little mini tour with a
- 16:38Speaker 4: couple of other bands.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Then you know that bible. Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I'd like to say I guess that Wild
- 16:44Speaker 3: Things have really helped us out throughout our career as
- 16:48Speaker 3: a band.
- 16:49Speaker 1: That's cool, you know, twenty ten two.
- 16:52Speaker 2: That's nice, you've got that history.
- 16:53Speaker 1: More in the future, it's beautiful, right.
- 16:55Speaker 3: We get along so well with the owners and the
- 16:59Speaker 3: guys that of do all of that stuff. We're just
- 17:03Speaker 3: I guess realistically, in the future, we're just going to
- 17:06Speaker 3: be touring this new record and hoping that people enjoy
- 17:09Speaker 3: it and slowly, slowly start writing new music.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Oh that's always fun, isn't it. Sometimes it happens in
- 17:19Speaker 2: the most least expected ways.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Well, this took a long time to create, so hopefully
- 17:24Speaker 3: the next doesn't. And I know I said that about
- 17:26Speaker 3: the last one. Hopefully this doesn't take five years.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Well, the good thing is that there's there's no step path.
- 17:34Speaker 4: You know, what makes it all, doesn't it. It's everyone's
- 17:36Speaker 4: doing their own thing these days. I think that's another
- 17:38Speaker 4: incredible thing that you know, do what works for you
- 17:40Speaker 4: and it's still guaranteed of you know, it's no, it
- 17:44Speaker 4: doesn't rule anything out. You still can make it happen,
- 17:48Speaker 4: which is embraces that flexibility that we've I think we've
- 17:51Speaker 4: adopted in all parts of our life and working from
- 17:53Speaker 4: home and all shit, that makes our lives much easier.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Where to go. Well, look, thank you so much for
- 17:59Speaker 2: coming and having chat with us and heavy and wait,
- 18:01Speaker 2: I'm out of here.
