- 1:11life. This generally encompasses the
- 1:14vast majority of individuals. As long as they are fixated on
- 1:19these external matters of the body, the life and the mind,
- 1:24they do not tend to pay attention to the larger context
- 1:28within which they live. Their lives.
- 1:30The purpose, the big picture so to speak as per the proverb,
- 1:36they cannot see the forest for the trees.
- 1:41At a certain point something may intervene and change the nature
- 1:44and direction of their focus and attention.
- 1:48It may be a peak experience of some sort.
- 1:52It may be a tragedy that intervenes it may be a natural
- 1:56and growing sense of dissatisfaction with the rewards

- 2:13individuals begin to seek for and refocus their attention on
- 2:18their spiritual path. A disciple asks, when can one
- 2:24say that one is truly entered the spiritual path.
- 2:28The mother answers, quote, the first sign, it is not the same
- 2:33for everybody, but in a chronological order, I believe,
- 2:37is that everything else appears to you?
- 2:40Absolutely, without importance your entire life, all your
- 2:46activities, all your movements continue if circumstances, so
- 2:50arrange things. But they all seem to you utterly
- 2:54unimportant. This is no longer the meaning of
- 2:57your existence. Existence, I believe this is the
- 3:00first sign. There may be another, for
- 3:04example, the feeling that everything is different of
- 3:07living differently of a light in the mind, which was not there
- 3:11before of a piece in the heart, which was not there before, that
- 3:17does make a change. But the positive change usually
- 3:21comes later. Very rarely, does it come at
- 3:25first, except in a Flash at the time of conversion.
- 3:29When one has decided to take up the spiritual life, Sometimes it
- 3:34begins like a great illumination, the Deep Joy
- 3:38enters into you. But generally afterwards, this
- 3:43goes into the background for there are too many imperfections
- 3:47till persisting in. You, it is not discussed, it is
- 3:53not contempt, but everything appears to you.
- 3:56So uninteresting that it is truly not worth the trouble of
- 4:01attending to it. For instance, when you are in
- 4:05the midst of certain physical conditions, Pleasant or
- 4:08unpleasant, the two extremes meet you say to yourself, it was
- 4:14so important to me all that, but it has no importance at all.
- 4:20You have the impression that you have truly turned over to the
- 4:23other side and quote, reference SRI aurobindo, and the mother
