- 0:00Speaker 1: Now this is the Mark Simon Show on sevent ten
- 0:04Speaker 1: wor Hey, well, thank got it Friday, Oh my god,
- 0:14Speaker 1: they get this week over with. We got a lot
- 0:16Speaker 1: to get to. We'll get to a crazy mom Donnie,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and what's he going to do with the police department.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We've got some intel on that. We'll get to that
- 0:25Speaker 1: coming up. We'll get to at least Stephonic running for governor.
- 0:28Speaker 1: There should be the end of Kathy Hoko. We'll get
- 0:32Speaker 1: to MSNBC. They're in their final week now of being MSNBC,
- 0:38Speaker 1: and a lot more to get to the shutdown. There
- 0:40Speaker 1: might be some kind of vote today, not necessarily to
- 0:44Speaker 1: end the shutdown, but to begin towards the end of
- 0:47Speaker 1: the Who knows what these people are going to do.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The shutdown continues today's day. They do that ten cut
- 0:53Speaker 1: in flights at a lot of airports. Now, it sounds bad,
- 0:58Speaker 1: and it is bad, but it's not as as bad
- 1:00Speaker 1: as you think, because we did this before. Remember they
- 1:02Speaker 1: were having problems with Newark Airport and the controllers, traffic controllers,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and it was all messed up, and they decided to
- 1:09Speaker 1: cut the flights ten percent for a while. So we
- 1:12Speaker 1: went through this already at Newark. They'll do this at
- 1:14Speaker 1: a number of airports, and what they cut are the
- 1:17Speaker 1: emptiest flights they can find. They are not a lot
- 1:19Speaker 1: of empty flights nowadays, but some less populated than others.
- 1:23Speaker 1: They'll cut those and combine them. So if you're traveling,
- 1:27Speaker 1: you'll see some delays. You'll also see some really crowded,
- 1:31Speaker 1: cramped planes, fewer flights and more people on each plane shutdown.
- 1:38Speaker 1: The problem is the polling is all over the map.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Some show that the Republicans are getting the blame, some
- 1:43Speaker 1: show Democrats are getting the blame. One of the problems
- 1:49Speaker 1: it's hard to poll because President Trump the idea when
- 1:52Speaker 1: he did the shutdown was to make it as the
- 1:56Speaker 1: least painful that he could make it. Don't cut anything
- 1:59Speaker 1: you don't have to cut. And you know when Obama
- 2:01Speaker 1: did the shutdown, he was the opposite. He tried to
- 2:03Speaker 1: make it as painful as possible. They wanted to make
- 2:07Speaker 1: the Republicans look bad, so they closed down a lot
- 2:09Speaker 1: more than they had to close down. They closed down everything,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and they deliberately tried to make it very painful for
- 2:15Speaker 1: the public. They closed down things that you didn't even
- 2:17Speaker 1: need to close. I mean there were World War Two
- 2:21Speaker 1: monuments that don't require any staffing of any kind, but
- 2:23Speaker 1: they still close those down, that put that yellow barricade
- 2:27Speaker 1: tape all over it, just to make it look as
- 2:29Speaker 1: ugly as they could. The president doing the opposite.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Here.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Hey Elis Stefanic has announced she is running for governor.
- 2:38Speaker 1: This was not unexpected. Here she is.
- 2:42Speaker 3: It is clear we need a new generation leader to
- 2:44Speaker 3: step up and bring common sense and deliver results the
- 2:47Speaker 3: issues that I hear from not just in my district,
- 2:49Speaker 3: but all across the state. People are struggling with high
- 2:52Speaker 3: taxes in New York State. It's an affordability crisis. If
- 2:54Speaker 3: you look at utility rates, insurance rates, it is running
- 2:57Speaker 3: families and small businesses out of this state.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Okay, see, now it's an interesting situation. You just had
- 3:04Speaker 1: a guy win the mayoralty, a Democrat, and he ran
- 3:08Speaker 1: on affordability and that sort of stuff, which is odd
- 3:11Speaker 1: because it's the Democrats that caused it. The Democrats have
- 3:15Speaker 1: run every inch in New York for the last fifteen years.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Democrats at mayors, governors, legislature, city council. The whole thing's
- 3:24Speaker 1: been run by Democrats. So if it's an affordability crisis
- 3:27Speaker 1: and this crisis, and in that crisis, it's all the
- 3:30Speaker 1: Democrats fault. It would make sense to switch parties if
- 3:34Speaker 1: that party just gave you all these problems, switch parties
- 3:36Speaker 1: so it'll be easier for Stephonic to campaign on that.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Hochel can try campaigning on affordability. But she's been in
- 3:43Speaker 1: charge for eight years, and before that, Cuomo for years,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and it's her legislature, all Democrats, So it's going to
- 3:52Speaker 1: be tough, very to Here's the Stephanic's first campaign commercial.
- 3:56Speaker 4: From the ashes of Kathy Hockel's failed policies, New York
- 4:01Speaker 4: Real Rise like we always do. The spirit of the
- 4:05Speaker 4: empire state cannot be broken. All we need is a
- 4:08Speaker 4: courageous leader ready for the fight. A least Dephonic will
- 4:14Speaker 4: make New York affordable and safe.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Now, Stephanic an upstate congresswoman, and you remember in those
- 4:22Speaker 1: hearings where Hokel had to testify in the congressional hearings,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it was Stephonic that really went after her on crime,
- 4:29Speaker 1: on everything else. I want to make sure you understand
- 4:31Speaker 1: that this simply says that we will cooperate with Ice.
- 4:34Speaker 3: No, it does not say that I read what it says,
- 4:36Speaker 3: and let me talk to you about the results. Do
- 4:38Speaker 3: you know who secure a kan is? You should, as
- 4:41Speaker 3: the governor of New York State?
- 4:42Speaker 5: Do you know refresh my recollection?
- 4:45Speaker 3: He was an illegal migrant in New York and do
- 4:47Speaker 3: you know what crime he committed in addition to being
- 4:50Speaker 3: here legally?
- 4:50Speaker 6: No, I do not, you do not.
- 4:52Speaker 3: This was widely reported. He found a fifteen year old girl,
- 4:56Speaker 3: threatened her with a metal pull, told her to get
- 4:59Speaker 3: into the back seat of his car, He took her
- 5:01Speaker 3: clothes off, and he violently raped her in Albany, New York.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah, now, Hokel had a really rough time testifying in
- 5:07Speaker 1: front of Stefanic. I'm sure this will be used in commercials.
- 5:10Speaker 5: These are horrific crimes.
- 5:11Speaker 3: In their heart, they're horrific crimes that are committed on
- 5:14Speaker 3: your watch. You sign this executive order on your first
- 5:17Speaker 3: day in office. You sign it again and again this January.
- 5:21Speaker 3: We deserve a governor who stands up for law abiding
- 5:24Speaker 3: New Yorkers, doesn't put illegals first, but actually puts New
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yorkers first. I appreciate Rather than going after the viral moment,
- 5:31Speaker 3: I suggest you no, no, no, I'm standing up for
- 5:33Speaker 3: New Yorkers zone. Rather than addressing the illegals in New York,
- 5:36Speaker 3: you are prioritizing your far left sanctuary state policies, which
- 5:40Speaker 3: you put in place with executive orders.
- 5:43Speaker 1: So based on this kind of stuff, it would be
- 5:45Speaker 1: pretty easy I think for Stefanic to beat Hochel in
- 5:47Speaker 1: any debate now is the only complication for Stephanic. Bruce Blakeman,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I'm hearing, wants to run for governor. Bruce Blakeman is
- 5:56Speaker 1: the best county executive in America, done a phenomenal job
- 6:00Speaker 1: in Nassau County, just got re elected. Governor's race would
- 6:04Speaker 1: be next year would be you know, Nassau County will
- 6:06Speaker 1: not be happy to lose Blakeman, but it's worth it
- 6:09Speaker 1: if he can be the governor because then he can
- 6:10Speaker 1: fix the whole state. So at least Stephonic would have
- 6:14Speaker 1: to go through a primary battling Bruce Blakeman. That won't
- 6:17Speaker 1: be easy. I mean, you know, I'd have to go
- 6:22Speaker 1: with Blakeman on that. You know, like Stephonic, but Blakeman's
- 6:25Speaker 1: the best and in aal not national, but a big
- 6:30Speaker 1: statewide race for a governor. New York City is half
- 6:33Speaker 1: the votes in a governor's race, New York City is
- 6:36Speaker 1: half the votes. Now, if you study the history of this,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you got to win at least thirty five percent of
- 6:41Speaker 1: New York City as the Republican. To get elected governor,
- 6:45Speaker 1: you got to win thirty five percent of New York City.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It's not easy to do as a Republican. But in
- 6:50Speaker 1: the primary, that's a little different. So it'd be Blakeman
- 6:52Speaker 1: against Stephonic in the primary, and who knows, who knows
- 6:57Speaker 1: who else the other people will jump in there. You
- 6:59Speaker 1: never know, maybe Andrew Giuliani will try it again. Maybe
- 7:04Speaker 1: who knows, Maybe Lee Zelden Board in Washington may come
- 7:08Speaker 1: try it again. But Blakeman, Stephanic. It's a great situation
- 7:12Speaker 1: to have a couple of great candidates. So we'll see
- 7:15Speaker 1: who gets through that primary. Mom, Donnie, Now, the big,
- 7:20Speaker 1: big nightmare is the police department. That's the problem. He's
- 7:25Speaker 1: already named five people on his transition team. They're all
- 7:28Speaker 1: ex to Blasio, people to Blasio administration, one's from the
- 7:31Speaker 1: Adams administration. But the most important thing is keep people safe.
- 7:35Speaker 1: If you got safe streets, you got everything. So will
- 7:39Speaker 1: Jessica stay as police commissioners she hadn't said anything yet.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Now this could get interesting. We'd want her to stay.
- 7:49Speaker 1: She's done a good job. She might not stay just
- 7:51Speaker 1: simply because she doesn't want to work with Mom Donnie,
- 7:53Speaker 1: or she doesn't like some of his policies. And if she,
- 7:56Speaker 1: you know, she'll want to run against him in four years,
- 8:00Speaker 1: so she may not want to stay if she leaves.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Who's the police commissioner. This is the big fear with
- 8:05Speaker 1: Mom Donnie. Everybody thinks he's going to put Al Sharpton
- 8:08Speaker 1: in charge of the police department or something like that,
- 8:11Speaker 1: some crazy left wing sort of a character. This is
- 8:15Speaker 1: the big, big worry. But this is not bad news.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Apparently this is from the inside of the Mam Donnie world.
- 8:24Speaker 1: If he has to pick up police commissioner right now,
- 8:26Speaker 1: highest on his list is the Suffolk County Police Commissioner,
- 8:30Speaker 1: Rodney Harrison. He's not a bad guy. Rodney Harrison, Suffolk
- 8:36Speaker 1: County Police Commissioner. He's been there for a couple of years.
- 8:40Speaker 1: He ran the he actually ran the department and left
- 8:43Speaker 1: at the end of Steve Balloone's term as county executive.
- 8:47Speaker 1: But he's the guy that he formed the task force
- 8:49Speaker 1: that finally got the Gilgo Beach serial killer. He was
- 8:53Speaker 1: with the NYPD. He retired in twenty twenty one as
- 8:56Speaker 1: chief of department. That's the highest uniform position, so everybody
- 9:00Speaker 1: thinks he's a good guy police Former police Commissioner of
- 9:03Speaker 1: Suffolk Rodney Kay Harrison looks like that right now would
- 9:07Speaker 1: be Mom Donnie's choice. And if Jessica Tish will stay,
- 9:11Speaker 1: it looks like they'll make Harrison the deputy mayor in
- 9:15Speaker 1: charge of public safety, so he'd be overseeing her and
- 9:20Speaker 1: I don't know what their relationship is or she'd want
- 9:23Speaker 1: to work under him, But we'll see, Tish. I think
- 9:27Speaker 1: we'll wait and see who's appointed, who's going to be
- 9:30Speaker 1: what before she decides anything. Now, for the last thirty years,
- 9:34Speaker 1: new mayors have always ended up bringing in their own
- 9:37Speaker 1: police commissioner. It's just tradition, you know. When Rudy Giuliani
- 9:42Speaker 1: took over, Ray Kelly was the police commissioner out. He's
- 9:45Speaker 1: the greatest police commissioner ever ever. And I remember talking
- 9:51Speaker 1: to Rudy Juliana at the time. He knew that. He
- 9:53Speaker 1: just said, I can't keep you know, a previous guy.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I have to have my own commissioner. Some just think
- 9:59Speaker 1: they got to have her own person in there. So
- 10:01Speaker 1: it's highly unusual to keep a police commissioner. We'll see
- 10:04Speaker 1: if this is the one time where it actually actually happens. Now,
- 10:08Speaker 1: you keep hearing everybody's gonna leave. People are all going
- 10:11Speaker 1: to run away from New York. They always say they
- 10:13Speaker 1: said that when Deblasio so offic Some people did, but
- 10:16Speaker 1: not as many as you thought. It's not as bad
- 10:19Speaker 1: as you think. George Santos has announced he's leaving New York.
- 10:23Speaker 1: He's George Santos leaving New York. He lives in Queen's actually,
- 10:29Speaker 1: so he said he can't stay here under mom Donnie.
- 10:32Speaker 1: But I don't think that's a great loss that George
- 10:35Speaker 1: Santos is leaving. Now you could say, well, why does
- 10:37Speaker 1: he just move to Nasau County, Bruce blakemhan you can
- 10:39Speaker 1: trust him? Well, that's where Santos had all his trouble
- 10:43Speaker 1: in Nassau County. I don't think he wants to go
- 10:46Speaker 1: back there. Hey, congratulations Elon Musk, who was the richest
- 10:52Speaker 1: man in the world. That's quite an honor, quite a headline.
- 10:55Speaker 1: To be the single richest man on earth. That's an
- 10:58Speaker 1: incredible unbelievab accomplishment. Well, now another accomplishment. He's now the
- 11:03Speaker 1: highest paid guy in the history of the world, biggest
- 11:07Speaker 1: compensation package ever in the history of the world. Tesla
- 11:11Speaker 1: the board of directors approved his new pay package, which
- 11:14Speaker 1: is the new pay package is one trillion dollars with
- 11:19Speaker 1: a t one trillion dollars. It's unbelievable. But apparently he
- 11:25Speaker 1: threatened to leave the company if he didn't get it,
- 11:28Speaker 1: and the Tesla board was scared as can be. They
- 11:32Speaker 1: don't think the company can exist without Musk. Now, to
- 11:36Speaker 1: get the trillion, he'll have to hit a series of
- 11:38Speaker 1: performance marks. He's fifty four years old. He uh oh, hey,
- 11:43Speaker 1: he's still the richest guy. He's the richest guy in
- 11:45Speaker 1: the world. Four hundred and ninety billion. Four hundred and
- 11:50Speaker 1: ninety billion. I think about that. If you had four billion,
- 11:55Speaker 1: you'd be unbelievably rich. But four hundred and ninety billion.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Let's say there was a hole in your pocket and
- 12:03Speaker 1: you didn't know it, and ninety billion fell out of
- 12:06Speaker 1: your pocket and you lost it. You're still worth four
- 12:09Speaker 1: hundred billion. It wouldn't really matter. I don't even know
- 12:12Speaker 1: why you even work. This is like five hundred billion.
- 12:16Speaker 1: If you put that, if you just invested it, you'd
- 12:18Speaker 1: have five billion a year in income. Five billion a
- 12:22Speaker 1: year in income. You couldn't spend that if you tried.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But guys like this love to work. He'll be awarded
- 12:27Speaker 1: all kinds of stock in twelve tranches first round. If
- 12:33Speaker 1: it hits, there's all kinds of targets you have to
- 12:37Speaker 1: have to sell. He has to deliver twenty million vehicles,
- 12:41Speaker 1: Tesla hats has to hit two trillion in valuation. He
- 12:45Speaker 1: has to deliver one million of the Optimus human eyed robots. Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 1: that's next. The robots are coming. If they get all
- 12:53Speaker 1: the hurdles, Tesla stock would explode and be worth eight
- 12:59Speaker 1: point five trillion, with Musk getting a quarter. That's so,
- 13:03Speaker 1: that's how they'll end up with a trillion dollars in income.
- 13:07Speaker 1: And let's say it doesn't work out well and they
- 13:09Speaker 1: only hit two benchmarks, then he'll earn twenty six billion
- 13:13Speaker 1: from that. This is unbelievable. You know, he'll be earning
- 13:16Speaker 1: more money than Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, and Jensen Huang
- 13:21Speaker 1: in the video combined. Combined, seventy five percent of shareholders
- 13:26Speaker 1: voted in favor of the proposal that just terrified of
- 13:29Speaker 1: losing him. They don't think anybody else could run the
- 13:32Speaker 1: company like that. Unbelievable. Hey, Dave Portnoy, here's another one.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Portnoy says he's gonna pull Barstool from New York City.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Their headquarters is here. He's threatening, he says, I hate
- 13:45Speaker 1: the guy. He's threatening to pull out and move Barstool.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Portnoy just bought a thirty million dollar house in Miami,
- 13:52Speaker 1: so I imagine that's where he'd move it. You know,
- 13:57Speaker 1: people go, you know, on their phone. That's how they
- 13:59Speaker 1: are in the You read the newspaper on the computer,
- 14:02Speaker 1: you read your websites, you read your book on a kindle,
- 14:05Speaker 1: you do all that. That's all changing slowly. People don't
- 14:09Speaker 1: want to read anymore. It's incredible how lazy people are getting.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And wait till AI takes over, you're going to see
- 14:15Speaker 1: laziness like you've never seen. So a lot of people
- 14:18Speaker 1: don't want to read a book on a kindle. They
- 14:19Speaker 1: want talking books. They don't have to hold it, look
- 14:21Speaker 1: at it, move their eyes. They don't want to have
- 14:24Speaker 1: to do that. They want to just have a talking book. Well,
- 14:28Speaker 1: it's affecting everything else newspapers are starting to realize they've
- 14:32Speaker 1: got to start talking. It can't just be print. The
- 14:35Speaker 1: New York Times has been working very hard on what
- 14:38Speaker 1: they call the post text era, so they're quickly moving
- 14:43Speaker 1: to platforms where everybody's talking, all the writers doing audio
- 14:47Speaker 1: and video. So when you go to the New York Times,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you don't have to tire yourself out reading. You can
- 14:52Speaker 1: just listen and watch. So all their big writers columns
- 14:57Speaker 1: are turning into talking heads. This is the big thing
- 15:00Speaker 1: audio video. At some point, if you've got no time
- 15:04Speaker 1: machine and went to five years from now, there might
- 15:05Speaker 1: not be any print of any kind anymore. Everything is
- 15:08Speaker 1: just talking and video. Hey, oh, you will be with
- 15:12Speaker 1: us later this hour, Clay Travis. Clay Travis will be
- 15:15Speaker 1: here in a few minutes. We'll talk to Clay Travis.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He's got a new book out. And then, uh, well,
- 15:21Speaker 1: a lot more to get to and we'll take some calls. Next.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten is the number.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. If you're
- 15:32Speaker 1: listening to Mark on the iHeartRadio app, save time and
- 15:35Speaker 1: tap the preset button.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 15:38Speaker 7: Now back to the Mark Simone Show on WOOR.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to H. David
- 15:45Speaker 1: in Brooklyn. David, how you doing.
- 15:48Speaker 8: Hey, good morning, How are you good? Okay, I just
- 15:51Speaker 8: want to if you give me thirty seconds, I make
- 15:53Speaker 8: my point. You speaking yesterday that the election turnout was
- 15:56Speaker 8: only forty five percent, So I want to explain something
- 16:00Speaker 8: my training statistics. I think forty five percent is actually
- 16:04Speaker 8: too high. And I'll splaink to you why New York
- 16:06Speaker 8: City does not have a system of people removing themselves
- 16:10Speaker 8: from the from the voting world, Meaning when someone registers
- 16:12Speaker 8: to vote in New York, then they move to Florida
- 16:14Speaker 8: from they move wherever. They don't call up.
- 16:16Speaker 1: People do not know. That's a good point that the
- 16:19Speaker 1: actual total might be higher, but people aren't.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Hey.
- 16:21Speaker 1: By the way, you don't have to say give me
- 16:23Speaker 1: give me thirty sent you be interesting. If you're really interesting,
- 16:26Speaker 1: you can stay on. You'll be on for ten minutes.
- 16:29Speaker 1: If it's not so interesting, it might be ten seconds.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Let's go to Mike in Florida.
- 16:33Speaker 9: Mike, how you doing, good morning, Mark, Yes, Mike, just
- 16:38Speaker 9: to get off the politics for a couple of seconds.
- 16:40Speaker 9: I was cruising YouTube and I came across a bunch
- 16:43Speaker 9: of Neil Sidaka videos and I was wondering if you
- 16:47Speaker 9: were friends with him, and also, how short is Neil Sedaka?
- 16:50Speaker 9: He looked. It was one where he's dancing, he's singing,
- 16:53Speaker 9: there's a bunch of dancing girls, and he looks like
- 16:55Speaker 9: he comes up to their waist.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Well, no, he's not. He's a good friend of mine.
- 16:59Speaker 1: He's not. He's not tall, but I would say he's
- 17:01Speaker 1: five nine probably okay, maybe he's five five nine. But
- 17:06Speaker 1: you know, when they put you in the show with
- 17:08Speaker 1: the dancing girls, they're always like six feet tall, these dancers.
- 17:11Speaker 10: So true.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, but he does, he's doing.
- 17:14Speaker 10: He's pushed.
- 17:15Speaker 9: He's in his eighties.
- 17:16Speaker 10: I know that.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, you can see how he's doing because if you're
- 17:19Speaker 1: follow him on Facebook or online, probably on YouTube too.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Every couple of days in his own apartment over there
- 17:27Speaker 1: on the Upper East Side, he makes these videos. Him
- 17:30Speaker 1: at the piano and he sings some of his songs.
- 17:34Speaker 1: He might want to get a little better dressed for them.
- 17:36Speaker 1: It's usually him and his pajamas.
- 17:40Speaker 9: He's an underrated genius.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I say, Oh, he's a brilliant guy. And he's one
- 17:43Speaker 1: of the few artists in the world. Like some of
- 17:46Speaker 1: those videos, you'll see him do laughter in the rain
- 17:47Speaker 1: just at the piano. He's one of the few guys
- 17:49Speaker 1: in real life can When he does it, it sounds
- 17:52Speaker 1: exactly like the like the recording, exactly like the record.
- 17:55Speaker 9: That's impressive.
- 17:56Speaker 1: You know how many times you go to a concert
- 17:58Speaker 1: and they're doing their hit and it doesn't sound anything
- 18:00Speaker 1: like the single that you've heard for years. But now
- 18:03Speaker 1: that that sounds perfect. Thanks for calling, Mike. Let's go
- 18:06Speaker 1: to Aaron in Indianapolis. Aaron, how you doing good?
- 18:10Speaker 10: Boarding?
- 18:11Speaker 6: Mark?
- 18:11Speaker 9: I want to talk about the new.
- 18:13Speaker 5: Incoming New York mayor.
- 18:15Speaker 11: Yes, I think I think we should extend the peace
- 18:18Speaker 11: offering and send him some gift boxes of ham sandwiches.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I don't know what that means, but I think we
- 18:24Speaker 1: should send him to Indianapolis. Let him run your town
- 18:26Speaker 1: for a little while. It didn't like that. I had
- 18:30Speaker 1: a lot of silence there. Let's go to Bill in Pennsylvania. Bill,
- 18:34Speaker 1: how you doing okay?
- 18:37Speaker 12: Mark?
- 18:37Speaker 11: It's I'm wondering why right ways like Stiftanic use the
- 18:41Speaker 11: word affordability. Those are the leftwards, but we should be
- 18:45Speaker 11: using your slogan common sense.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Well, we use that a lot. Now President Trump uses
- 18:51Speaker 1: that a lot.
- 18:53Speaker 11: I know, but it should be the rallying cry. Everybody
- 18:56Speaker 11: says that they that these people are saying, you know,
- 18:59Speaker 11: afford a bill, and they're going to wait across the
- 19:01Speaker 11: country with that slogan. We should respond by saying. Commons says, well,
- 19:08Speaker 11: we do, we do, we do.
- 19:09Speaker 1: President Trump, as I say, he says it a lot.
- 19:11Speaker 1: You can't decide what the big slogan is. You can
- 19:14Speaker 1: just keep saying it. Then you see what catches on.
- 19:16Speaker 1: For some reason, the affordability caught on with the public.
- 19:19Speaker 1: They like the word, you know, it's like branding. Sometimes
- 19:22Speaker 1: it catches on, sometimes it doesn't. But affordability it's a
- 19:27Speaker 1: big issue right now. But you got a lot of
- 19:29Speaker 1: the President's policies and a lot of the things in
- 19:32Speaker 1: the pipeline going through the economy that will bring prices down.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So in six months prices might be a lot lower,
- 19:38Speaker 1: and then it won't be a very good word for
- 19:39Speaker 1: a campaigning anymore. Let's go to Susan and Brooklyn. Susan,
- 19:43Speaker 1: how you doing, Hi?
- 19:44Speaker 13: Great? Mark, love your show. I just have to make
- 19:46Speaker 13: a comment. I received my two hundred dollars inflation refund
- 19:51Speaker 13: check from local. And the thing is they tell you
- 19:55Speaker 13: on this to keep the stub on the top to
- 19:58Speaker 13: file with your twent five taxes. And it even says
- 20:02Speaker 13: it on the check. This is insane. I'm being taxed
- 20:06Speaker 13: on money that I was already taxed on.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. Does that mean you have to
- 20:10Speaker 1: pay taxes on it just because you have to keep
- 20:12Speaker 1: the stub?
- 20:12Speaker 13: Well, it says this refund is issued on your income
- 20:15Speaker 13: tax return for the years shown below tax year twenty
- 20:19Speaker 13: twenty five.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I don't know. You got ask an account? That might
- 20:22Speaker 1: mean you don't have to pay tax on how come
- 20:23Speaker 1: I didn't?
- 20:24Speaker 9: I didn't get it?
- 20:25Speaker 11: Check?
- 20:25Speaker 1: How come I didn't get one?
- 20:28Speaker 13: I don't know. Maybe you make too much money? What
- 20:30Speaker 13: can I say? Mark, have a good day.
- 20:32Speaker 1: All right, thanks for calling. Hey, We'll take a break
- 20:35Speaker 1: for the news, get caught up on everything, and when
- 20:38Speaker 1: we come back, we'll talk to Clay Travis. Last night
- 20:41Speaker 1: was the Patriot Awards in Long Island, Fox News, Fox Nation.
- 20:45Speaker 1: They do this great Patriot Awards. First, lady was there,
- 20:49Speaker 1: Erica Kirka. Clay Travis was there. He's also got a
- 20:52Speaker 1: new book out. We'll talk to him about that. But
- 20:55Speaker 1: first let's get all the latest news. Let's get caught
- 20:58Speaker 1: up on everything on seven to ten Insight from the inside.
- 21:04Speaker 4: This is seven to ten Wrson Show.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Well with us right now, Clay Travis superstar. Of course
- 21:12Speaker 1: you listen to Buck and Clay and every day twelve
- 21:16Speaker 1: noon to three, the Clay Travis Buck Sexton Show noon
- 21:19Speaker 1: to three every day right after me. You seem all
- 21:21Speaker 1: over television of course, OutKick all that stuff. And he's
- 21:23Speaker 1: a best selling author. This is another bestseller that has
- 21:27Speaker 1: just come out. His new book is called Balls. It's
- 21:31Speaker 1: actually a fascinating book. And Clay Travis, thanks for actually
- 21:34Speaker 1: coming into the studio.
- 21:36Speaker 7: Well, thank you for having me. Most importantly, thanks for
- 21:39Speaker 7: being a tremendous lead in for the show for all
- 21:42Speaker 7: these years. And you are dominating in New York City
- 21:45Speaker 7: as you long have, and we appreciate you passing the
- 21:48Speaker 7: baton to us at noon, and we get to talk
- 21:51Speaker 7: to a lot of people all over the country and
- 21:53Speaker 7: certainly a lot of people in New York who are grappling,
- 21:57Speaker 7: as we were talking about off air, with what has
- 21:59Speaker 7: been a challenging week, I think, to say the least.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's been a long week. I don't know, we'll
- 22:06Speaker 1: get through this, and let's talk about the book first.
- 22:08Speaker 1: That's an interesting subject because it's called Balls, but it's
- 22:12Speaker 1: about sports, and you know, I never thought about it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I read this book the Democrats going into all these
- 22:20Speaker 1: dangerous areas with people, but screwing around with sports. Yeah,
- 22:24Speaker 1: that's bad.
- 22:24Speaker 7: Well, I think there's a sense among young men that
- 22:29Speaker 7: they have been villainized for many things that they've had
- 22:32Speaker 7: absolutely nothing to do with at all. And I think,
- 22:36Speaker 7: when when I think about my lifetime, I feel I
- 22:39Speaker 7: grew up in the era that girls and boys should
- 22:43Speaker 7: be treated equally under the law. And Title nine probably
- 22:47Speaker 7: is a is a strong component of the era that
- 22:49Speaker 7: I grew up in. But it wasn't that there was
- 22:52Speaker 7: something wrong with being male or being female. It was
- 22:56Speaker 7: that both sexes should be able to espid to be
- 23:00Speaker 7: the highest level of success possible, which seemed very very
- 23:04Speaker 7: healthy to me. And then in the last I would
- 23:07Speaker 7: say decade, certainly we moved into a world where being
- 23:11Speaker 7: male there was something wrong with it and something toxic
- 23:16Speaker 7: with it. And so many young men who are growing
- 23:19Speaker 7: up in this era are looking around and saying, there's
- 23:22Speaker 7: a couple of anecdotes in here but one of my
- 23:24Speaker 7: favorite is one of my kid's friends came home one
- 23:28Speaker 7: day with me and he said, mister Clay, we learned
- 23:32Speaker 7: today at school that white men cause all the problems
- 23:34Speaker 7: in the world and we're the reason that everything is awful.
- 23:37Speaker 7: And they told us, you know that we have all
- 23:40Speaker 7: this power, And he said, my mom doesn't even let
- 23:43Speaker 7: me pick what I eat for dinner, mister Clay, what
- 23:47Speaker 7: power do I have? And it's a silly, funny anecdote,
- 23:52Speaker 7: but I think it kind of gets at the representative
- 23:54Speaker 7: issue here, which is we have created a world where
- 23:59Speaker 7: young men feel like they're blamed for everything, given credit
- 24:02Speaker 7: for nothing, and in this twenty twenty four election, they
- 24:07Speaker 7: pushed back against that in a pretty aggressive way.
- 24:10Speaker 1: So do you think Democrats targeted sports thinking it's too
- 24:13Speaker 1: macho or was it just a yeah.
- 24:17Speaker 7: I don't know how targeted it was or how much
- 24:19Speaker 7: it was just a natural outgrowth of their attempt to
- 24:22Speaker 7: take overall culture. But this book goes into to me
- 24:27Speaker 7: when it really began in earnest and you may remember
- 24:30Speaker 7: this story, some of your listeners will, but it kind
- 24:33Speaker 7: of feels like a long time ago now because so
- 24:36Speaker 7: many stories have happened since. But Michael Sam was a
- 24:40Speaker 7: star defensive end for the Missouri football team in the
- 24:44Speaker 7: SEC SEC player of the Year defensively, I think, but
- 24:49Speaker 7: like a lot of guys going to the pros, they
- 24:50Speaker 7: saw him as not an ideal fit. He wasn't big
- 24:53Speaker 7: enough to play defensive end, he wasn't fast enough to
- 24:56Speaker 7: play linebacker. There are all these issues, and so he
- 24:59Speaker 7: ended up getting drafted late. And when he got drafted,
- 25:02Speaker 7: he made out with his boyfriend on ESPN. You know,
- 25:06Speaker 7: they were sitting there with a camera right in his face.
- 25:08Speaker 7: And then the entire Michael Sam's story was obsessively covered
- 25:14Speaker 7: by ESPN. And that was the first time I remember
- 25:18Speaker 7: someone becoming a star of coverage without being a star.
- 25:23Speaker 1: On the field.
- 25:24Speaker 7: The only reason people were following that story was because
- 25:28Speaker 7: he was gay. And when I go back and look
- 25:30Speaker 7: at it now, then you had Caitlin Jenner's situation, certainly
- 25:33Speaker 7: Colin Kaepernick taking a knee. They tried to turn sports
- 25:37Speaker 7: into politics by any other name. And you know, I
- 25:42Speaker 7: came one of my prior books as Republicans by Sneakers Too,
- 25:46Speaker 7: which is from the Jordan era, when hey, I want
- 25:49Speaker 7: my excellence in athletics to speak to anybody, Why would
- 25:52Speaker 7: I want a way into politics and alien eight half
- 25:55Speaker 7: the country, which I actually think is the way that
- 25:57Speaker 7: a super smart sports league or a super smart athlete
- 26:01Speaker 7: would be. And by the way, this all culminated to
- 26:04Speaker 7: me with Leah Thomas winning a women's swimming title as
- 26:10Speaker 7: a man. And also for those people who remember it
- 26:14Speaker 7: in the twenty twenty bubble when the NBA players actually
- 26:18Speaker 7: took their own names off the back of their jerseys
- 26:22Speaker 7: and replace them with political slogo, which is it's all crazy,
- 26:26Speaker 7: but that is chronicled here as what we saw in
- 26:29Speaker 7: twenty twenty four was I think a backlash to that era.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Well, get the book. It's fascinating. It's Klay Travis's new
- 26:35Speaker 1: book called Balls, and it really explores all of this.
- 26:38Speaker 1: But why did guys like Roger Goodell, Why did they
- 26:42Speaker 1: cave to this? Why didn't they stand up for their sports?
- 26:45Speaker 7: Because they did what was best for them personally that
- 26:48Speaker 7: was worse for the league's I think it's such a
- 26:50Speaker 7: good question. If you're an old white guy and you're
- 26:53Speaker 7: making forty million dollars a year, as Roger Goodell is,
- 26:57Speaker 7: and your league is made up a majority black athlete.
- 27:00Speaker 7: Do you want to be the guy that steps in
- 27:02Speaker 7: front of the media train to be seen immediately by
- 27:07Speaker 7: all of the sports media as the old, racist, white
- 27:10Speaker 7: guy who is trying to run the league. I think
- 27:13Speaker 7: he recognized, and certainly the owners did that this was
- 27:17Speaker 7: bad for the overall brand of the league and bad
- 27:20Speaker 7: for the outreach of audience. But they did what was
- 27:25Speaker 7: in their best interest to preserve their jobs as opposed
- 27:28Speaker 7: to what was in the league's best interest.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Now, there are some psychologists to say that's the reason
- 27:34Speaker 1: the Democrats go so crazy about Donald Trump, that's the
- 27:36Speaker 1: reason for this Trump arrangements in him, that he's such
- 27:39Speaker 1: an old fashioned, macho, kind of fifties kind of guy,
- 27:43Speaker 1: and you think that's part of.
- 27:44Speaker 7: The well, look, I think the reason why the left
- 27:46Speaker 7: hates football in general is because it represents alpha masculinity.
- 27:51Speaker 7: I mean, there is no woman who's ever going to
- 27:54Speaker 7: make a football team, And in order to play football
- 27:58Speaker 7: at a high level, you have to be a physical
- 28:02Speaker 7: beast who puts your body on the line every single play.
- 28:06Speaker 7: And you know, there's a reason that football, and obviously
- 28:10Speaker 7: it's much less serious, has been analogized so often to
- 28:14Speaker 7: warfare because it's just physical carnage on the field, our
- 28:18Speaker 7: most aggressive. There's a great quote at West Point one
- 28:24Speaker 7: of their football coaches, and I'm not going to remember
- 28:27Speaker 7: it perfectly, but on you know, basically, the idea was
- 28:30Speaker 7: at West Point, we train men through football to be
- 28:33Speaker 7: able to eventually win on battlefields because it's about following orders,
- 28:39Speaker 7: it's about being in the right position, and so there's
- 28:42Speaker 7: always been a militaristic components of football that I think
- 28:46Speaker 7: also makes left wingers a little bit uncomfortable.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Wells all about Clay Travis Gain his latest book. It's
- 28:51Speaker 1: already a bestseller, but go get the book. It's called Balls.
- 28:55Speaker 1: You'll love this book. Hey Clay Travis, you founded OutKick Now? Yeah,
- 29:00Speaker 1: you way back in the beginning all the big sports
- 29:04Speaker 1: sports Illustrated, ABC, ESPN. How come they didn't see you coming?
- 29:08Speaker 1: How did you get ahead of them?
- 29:09Speaker 7: It is I think we have the most culturally influential
- 29:13Speaker 7: sports site now at OutKick, and Fox now owns it,
- 29:17Speaker 7: and we have a lot of impact. I think that's
- 29:22Speaker 7: part of what I write about in the book is
- 29:24Speaker 7: I think there's an advantage to being sort of a
- 29:29Speaker 7: speed ship a speedboat when everybody else is an aircraft
- 29:33Speaker 7: carrier because it allows you to adjust on the fly
- 29:38Speaker 7: quickly and see oncoming issues without having to run everything
- 29:43Speaker 7: through a bureaucracy in order to make it happen. And
- 29:46Speaker 7: so I think also the thing that is remarkable to
- 29:49Speaker 7: me is not that OutKick worked and continues to work
- 29:52Speaker 7: so well for Fox. It's that no one's ever competed
- 29:56Speaker 7: with us.
- 29:57Speaker 2: You know.
- 29:58Speaker 7: I sometimes look around and I say, boys, it's like
- 30:00Speaker 7: I invented beer, and nobody else will come out with
- 30:03Speaker 7: their own version of a beer. So that's maybe the
- 30:06Speaker 7: most remarkable thing about it. And if people aren't familiar
- 30:09Speaker 7: with the story of OutKick in sports, I think there's
- 30:12Speaker 7: a business and entrepreneurial story that is built into into
- 30:16Speaker 7: this book as well.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Absolutely, we'll get the book. It's a brand new book
- 30:19Speaker 1: from Clay Travis called Balls. You will love the book.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Listen to Clay Travis and Buck Session today noon to three,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and of course you'll see them all over television. But
- 30:28Speaker 1: the book is called Balls. Go get it. Clay Travis,
- 30:31Speaker 1: thanks for starting.
- 30:33Speaker 7: Thank you for killing it for us for so many
- 30:35Speaker 7: years as the lead in. We really love this station
- 30:37Speaker 7: and everything you guys do and we look forward to
- 30:41Speaker 7: talking with you guys for years and years to come.
- 30:43Speaker 1: All right, we'll do it again soon. Thank your Simon
- 30:48Speaker 1: show on woor oh, I don't know, it's been quite
- 30:58Speaker 1: a week. You got the MoMA putting together a transition team.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Another big fear besides what he'll do with the police department,
- 31:06Speaker 1: is the anti Semitism of Mom Donnie, the anti Semitism
- 31:11Speaker 1: that surrounds him. You know, he's been going on Morning
- 31:14Speaker 1: Joe there that crazy Morning Joe Swamp Joe at MSNBC,
- 31:21Speaker 1: and also a regular guest on the show is the
- 31:24Speaker 1: director of the ADL, you know, the Defense League. So
- 31:31Speaker 1: apparently Joe Scarborough has decided to arrange a meeting between them.
- 31:37Speaker 1: You know, it's one of the biggest institutions that represents
- 31:40Speaker 1: Jewish New Yorkers. He said, it's important that they sit
- 31:43Speaker 1: down with Mom Donnie and engage with each other because
- 31:48Speaker 1: the Defense League has pointed out, you know, Mam Donniel
- 31:50Speaker 1: bragged that he went to a synagogue, but they'll point
- 31:52Speaker 1: out the only team he goes to a synagogue's an
- 31:56Speaker 1: anti Zionist synagogue. So this will be an interesting Now.
- 32:00Speaker 1: The only problem is it's Morning Joe. It's MSNBC, so
- 32:03Speaker 1: Scarborough says, So we may may add Al Sharpton to
- 32:08Speaker 1: the meeting, but we'll see, you know, and it's one
- 32:13Speaker 1: thing to just go meet with these people. It's just
- 32:15Speaker 1: a gesture and you need much more than gestures. Here. Hey,
- 32:19Speaker 1: we'll get We had a lot to get to. In
- 32:20Speaker 1: the next hour. We'll get back to Mom, Donnie and
- 32:22Speaker 1: we'll get to we'll get to MSNBC. It's their final
- 32:27Speaker 1: week coming up. There'll be no more MSNBC. It's not
- 32:29Speaker 1: going to switch to something called ms now. But rebranding
- 32:33Speaker 1: is very, very dangerous. We'll talk about that in the
- 32:37Speaker 1: next hour. Now, I'm here every day ten to noon,
- 32:39Speaker 1: or you could listen to the podcast that way, you
- 32:42Speaker 1: can listen to any time you want, day or night.
- 32:44Speaker 1: And by the way, if you're a podcast listener, there's
- 32:45Speaker 1: a bonus segment that's not on the air that you'll
- 32:48Speaker 1: get every weekend back after the news seven to ten
- 32:51Speaker 1: WR here's more marks alone on sevent ten. Woor Well,
- 32:58Speaker 1: it's been quite a week. It's it's over. It's over.
- 33:01Speaker 1: We need a weekend to recover. It's getting cold out
- 33:04Speaker 1: the Rockefeller Center tree they cut it down. It's on
- 33:07Speaker 1: its way. It'll be here there too. That's how you know.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I guess summer's over. Rockefeller Center tree is on its way.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I was in the Central Park. The skating rink is open.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I guess. I guess summer is finally over. Hey, By
- 33:22Speaker 1: the way, if you want to look at leaves, changing colors,
- 33:26Speaker 1: the leaves, apparently, this is the peak weekend around here,
- 33:31Speaker 1: around the New York City area, in Long Island, Connecticut,
- 33:35Speaker 1: New Jersey, this is the peak weekend. So do it
- 33:39Speaker 1: this weekend. Nancy Pelosi has announced she will not seek reelection.
- 33:45Speaker 1: That's great news. President Trump was asked about it. I
- 33:49Speaker 1: think she's an able woman. I'm glad she's retiring.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I think she did the country a great service by retiring.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I think she was a tremendous liability.
- 33:58Speaker 1: For the country. Now you're saying, well, way would he
- 34:03Speaker 1: say that? He shouldn't talk like that? Why does he
- 34:05Speaker 1: talk like well? Because a couple of days before, did
- 34:07Speaker 1: you hear what she said about him? She's on a
- 34:10Speaker 1: being interviewed by somebody on some show. To listen to
- 34:14Speaker 1: the hyperbole, listen to how crazy they get.
- 34:16Speaker 13: He's just a vital creature.
- 34:19Speaker 1: The worst thing on the face of the earth. But anyway,
- 34:22Speaker 1: you think he's the worst thing on the face of
- 34:23Speaker 1: the earth.
- 34:24Speaker 7: I do, Yeah, I do.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Yeah. They just get so crazy about him. They get
- 34:31Speaker 1: so crazy, we're gonna there's a couple of prominent psychologists
- 34:35Speaker 1: who actually said, what sets them off so much? Why
- 34:38Speaker 1: is he? You know, they hated Bush and they they
- 34:42Speaker 1: hated Reagan and they went after him, but this is
- 34:44Speaker 1: beyond anything. Some psychologists think it's because you know, they're
- 34:48Speaker 1: trying to be so woke and you know DEI and
- 34:54Speaker 1: he's just like this old fashion macho guy, old fashioned
- 34:59Speaker 1: nineteen fifty these sort of macho kind of it's that
- 35:03Speaker 1: that sets them off. And then there's some psychologists that
- 35:08Speaker 1: say it's like daddy issues, Like they've got massive daddy
- 35:11Speaker 1: issues with this guy, but he just sets them up.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I mean, listen to her, this is nice. If I
- 35:17Speaker 1: played the clip and I didn't say who she's talking about,
- 35:19Speaker 1: who would you guess you probably think she's talking about
- 35:22Speaker 1: Iatola Komanie or Putin or bin Laden. But if you
- 35:29Speaker 1: didn't know who she was talking about, the worst thing
- 35:34Speaker 1: on the face of the earth. But you think he's
- 35:36Speaker 1: the worst thing on the face of the earth.
- 35:38Speaker 2: I do.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty funny. Now. The only sad thing about
- 35:43Speaker 1: her leaving it was great to watch her trade stocks.
- 35:46Speaker 1: She was the greatest insider trading in the history of
- 35:49Speaker 1: the world. Nobody you know, you're allowed to do insider
- 35:52Speaker 1: trading in Congress. So a lot of people made a
- 35:54Speaker 1: couple of millions. She made, like, got close to a
- 35:57Speaker 1: billion dollars. Now, listen to this over the last ten years.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Because of her insider trading. Over the last ten years,
- 36:04Speaker 1: Nancy Pelosi outperformed Warren Buffett Buffett's stock portfolio. Buffett grew
- 36:11Speaker 1: his portfolio by one hundred and eighty five percent. Pelosi
- 36:15Speaker 1: grew hers by seven hundred and twenty percent, almost four
- 36:19Speaker 1: times the gains. You got to give her credit for
- 36:22Speaker 1: at least for that. The greatest insider trading in the
- 36:25Speaker 1: history of the world. In her case, it was legal.
- 36:28Speaker 1: So a last Stephonica is going to run for governor.
- 36:31Speaker 1: She's why would she announce it now? It's a year
- 36:34Speaker 1: one year away. Do you really need a whole year? Well, okay,
- 36:36Speaker 1: it helps, you know. Some say that was the big,
- 36:39Speaker 1: big problem with Cuomo. He was just so dead all
- 36:43Speaker 1: through the primaries. He didn't wake up until the last
- 36:45Speaker 1: two weeks. One reason you start early. It gives you
- 36:49Speaker 1: an excuse to go around and campaign, not in the
- 36:51Speaker 1: big places, but in the little places. That's why the
- 36:54Speaker 1: candidates go to Iowa year ahead. You go to these little,
- 36:58Speaker 1: tiny places where nobody's really going to watch. You know,
- 37:00Speaker 1: you're not gonna get a lot of coverage, which is good,
- 37:02Speaker 1: but you do speech as you meet with voters, and
- 37:04Speaker 1: that way you hone the message. You're really you know,
- 37:07Speaker 1: six months of that and then you're ready for the
- 37:10Speaker 1: real campaign. You have developed a message, a stump speech,
- 37:13Speaker 1: You've really got yourself up to speed. So that's why
- 37:15Speaker 1: you do it a year ahead of time. Now, Hokeel
- 37:18Speaker 1: is going to have a huge problem. Normally, these Democrats
- 37:22Speaker 1: will campaign on affordability and whatever crisis. Well, now you've
- 37:28Speaker 1: got a Republican who can just look at you and
- 37:29Speaker 1: say you're the one in charge for the last eight years.
- 37:32Speaker 1: It's your fault. You created it. So I don't know
- 37:34Speaker 1: what she's going to do about that. The other big
- 37:36Speaker 1: problem she has is a Mom Donnie problem. You can
- 37:39Speaker 1: assume a year from now, Mom Donnie will have been
- 37:41Speaker 1: a terrible, terrible mayor, and she endorsed them. She is
- 37:45Speaker 1: going to have to deal with that picture of her
- 37:47Speaker 1: and him they pose together holding their hands up together,
- 37:51Speaker 1: clasped hands. So she's going to have to answer for that,
- 37:56Speaker 1: and that's not going to be easy. It's going to
- 37:58Speaker 1: be a big problem for her. Hey, MSNBC a week
- 38:03Speaker 1: from today will no longer exist. Friday, the fifteenth final
- 38:08Speaker 1: day of MSNBC. It's gone. They'll rebrand it as they'll
- 38:12Speaker 1: call it MS now. They gave people a tour of
- 38:16Speaker 1: their new studio. They've been kicked out of Rockefeller Center.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Their new studios kind of small, it's a little cramped.
- 38:23Speaker 1: They'll be operating out of there. But you know, there's
- 38:25Speaker 1: a lot of branding experts that say they may not
- 38:28Speaker 1: realize how dangerous this is. You know, it's gonna be
- 38:30Speaker 1: the same show, same anchors, won't look as good because
- 38:33Speaker 1: it'll be smaller studios. They will no longer have NBC
- 38:36Speaker 1: News resources or correspondence or all of that. But anytime
- 38:42Speaker 1: you rebrand, you know you could just change you know, well,
- 38:45Speaker 1: if you said yeah, but they just changing the name
- 38:47Speaker 1: or they're just changing the logo, it can affect things.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Look what happened to Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel just changed
- 38:56Speaker 1: the logo and they redecorated the stores. Rebranding is very, very,
- 39:03Speaker 1: very dangerous, so it'll be interesting to see what happens now.
- 39:07Speaker 1: MSNBC apparently is worried about the dangers of rebranding, so
- 39:12Speaker 1: they put together a few million dollars to do an
- 39:14Speaker 1: ad campaign to promote the new brand. You'll start seeing
- 39:17Speaker 1: that everywhere. And this is a company that was spun
- 39:20Speaker 1: off from NBC in comcasts, so a few millions a
- 39:24Speaker 1: lot of money to them, but it's going to be
- 39:28Speaker 1: quite a struggle. Hey, Hey, speaking of television, sometime today,
- 39:32Speaker 1: I'm going to go over to the Paley Center. You know,
- 39:34Speaker 1: that's like the Museum of Television and Radio. They call
- 39:37Speaker 1: it the Paley Center. But this is the final weekend
- 39:41Speaker 1: it's there, and I want to The museum is going
- 39:43Speaker 1: to be there forever, but what's there for the final
- 39:47Speaker 1: weekend is Johnny Carson's actual desk and parts of the
- 39:51Speaker 1: Tonight Show set. I want to go over there and
- 39:53Speaker 1: see it before it goes away. It'll be there through Sunday.
- 39:56Speaker 1: At the Paley Center. You can actually see the actual
- 39:59Speaker 1: Johnny Carson, which is that's pretty cool. And then Paley
- 40:04Speaker 1: Fest actually begins. Now they got a whole bunch of
- 40:08Speaker 1: big events. The check the schedule. You can get tickets.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Where there's Trisha Yearwood, is there Ted Danson, who's got
- 40:13Speaker 1: this hot news series on Netflix. Just go to a
- 40:17Speaker 1: pale museum dot org. It's all for a very good cause. Hey,
- 40:21Speaker 1: there is some good news this week. Looks like John
- 40:23Speaker 1: Brennan that the dirty, dirty CIA director will be indicted.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Apparently they are preparing indictments against him. They will go
- 40:33Speaker 1: after him. Hopefully they'll get him. But even if they don't,
- 40:36Speaker 1: just put him on trial. This is the dirtiest CIA
- 40:39Speaker 1: director we've ever had. Also a communist, by the way,
- 40:43Speaker 1: I mean literally he admits to having voted in presidential
- 40:48Speaker 1: elections for the communist candidate. Now that's the kind of guy.
- 40:50Speaker 1: This is CIA director. You know, Comy was at one
- 40:53Speaker 1: time a communist. He's talked about earlier in his life
- 40:56Speaker 1: being an actual communist. He tries to pose some sort
- 40:59Speaker 1: of Apublican he's always always been very left wing Democrat,
- 41:03Speaker 1: but he admits earlier in his life he was an
- 41:05Speaker 1: actual communist. Do you remember the McCarthy stuff. McCarthy hearings.
- 41:10Speaker 1: If you even happen to walk into a Communist party
- 41:14Speaker 1: meeting or a Communist club meeting, you were banned from
- 41:17Speaker 1: society for the rest of your life. These guys were
- 41:19Speaker 1: actual communists, declared communists. Komy Brennan. Also remember it was
- 41:25Speaker 1: Brennan who signed that ridiculous letter from the fifty one
- 41:30Speaker 1: former intelligence officials who said the Hunter laptop was Russian disinformation.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Absolutely insane stuff. You hear all this talk. Everybody's moving,
- 41:41Speaker 1: everybody's leaving. Everybody's fleeing New York because of Mom Donnie.
- 41:45Speaker 1: I don't know, well, there'll be some people to leave,
- 41:48Speaker 1: but everybody's going to leave that fast. We went through
- 41:50Speaker 1: this with the Blasio same thing. Everybody's leaving. Some people did,
- 41:55Speaker 1: but not a lot. But they're panicking in Florida. And
- 42:00Speaker 1: all the homes that are available in Florida. You know,
- 42:03Speaker 1: they figure everybody will move to Florida. Now all these
- 42:05Speaker 1: rich people moved to Florida, so the homes that would
- 42:08Speaker 1: be that were available are all getting snapped up like crazy,
- 42:12Speaker 1: not by New Yorkers but by local Floridians who, apparently,
- 42:16Speaker 1: in the last weeks since Momdani have flooded the market
- 42:20Speaker 1: because they're afraid all these New Yorkers will come down
- 42:23Speaker 1: and buy everything, and when they start buying like crazy,
- 42:28Speaker 1: it'll drive the pricest way up in Florida. So local
- 42:31Speaker 1: Floridians started buying stuff. There were homes that were on
- 42:34Speaker 1: sitting on the market for months with no activity that
- 42:37Speaker 1: all of a sudden had dozens of offers Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- 42:41Speaker 1: And these homes are getting snapped up at the fastest
- 42:44Speaker 1: rate they've ever seen. Condos that sat through the whole
- 42:47Speaker 1: summer with no bidders now have multiple offers. It's going
- 42:51Speaker 1: on all over the East Coast, Miami, Boca Palm Beach.
- 42:55Speaker 1: In fact, they're starting to see it in Orlando and
- 42:57Speaker 1: other places. Floridians happen up these homes because they know
- 43:01Speaker 1: it's going to drive prices up like crazy. Hey, you know,
- 43:05Speaker 1: podcasting is a big thing.
- 43:07Speaker 10: Now.
- 43:08Speaker 1: There's two kinds of podcasts. There's the real ones, the
- 43:11Speaker 1: professional ones. iHeart is the biggest podcast in the world.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Serious is a big podcaster Spotify obviously, but nobody's bigger
- 43:21Speaker 1: than iHeart. And we've got all the top top names
- 43:23Speaker 1: in the world podcasting. Now, the other part of podcasting
- 43:27Speaker 1: is every amateur now has a podcast because anybody can
- 43:31Speaker 1: do it. Now, if you talk about a professional podcast,
- 43:34Speaker 1: we have millions and millions and millions of listeners. If
- 43:37Speaker 1: you're Joe Rogan, you got forty million listeners or whatever
- 43:41Speaker 1: he's got. The one with President Trump, the campaign podcast,
- 43:48Speaker 1: I think that hit one hundred million listens at one point.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Even my podcast will hit ten million this year. Ten
- 43:53Speaker 1: million listens. We did nine point four million last year.
- 43:57Speaker 1: But it's a big deal these podcasts. Now. Netflix wants
- 44:04Speaker 1: to get into the podcasting business. They want to seriously
- 44:06Speaker 1: get into the podcasting business. Netflix of course the number
- 44:10Speaker 1: one best known streaming place, but they think that's not enough,
- 44:14Speaker 1: that you better expand all of that. So they want
- 44:16Speaker 1: to get into podcasting. They're making a deal. Well, they're
- 44:20Speaker 1: in talks with Serious XM YouTube. By the way, it's
- 44:24Speaker 1: a huge podcaster. So Netflix is talking to SERIOUSXM to
- 44:28Speaker 1: combine and have all of their podcasts. Now. They want
- 44:32Speaker 1: to do it audio and video. SERIOUSXM has some big
- 44:36Speaker 1: podcast Caller Daddy Morbid, Dateline NBC. But they're trying to
- 44:41Speaker 1: strike some kind of deal. Earlier they made a deal
- 44:44Speaker 1: with Spotify. They got to Bill Simmons podcast, Zach Lowe
- 44:49Speaker 1: Conspiracy Theories, and some others. Now, the biggest podcaster of
- 44:52Speaker 1: all is iHeart. There's nobody bigger than iHeart. Hollywood reporter
- 44:57Speaker 1: says Netflix has also approached iHeart Media about a similar arrangement.
- 45:03Speaker 1: iHeart has some of the most important podcasts in the world,
- 45:05Speaker 1: like the Breakfast Club done over there, right across the hall,
- 45:09Speaker 1: and stuff you should know. Now, there's some trade magazines
- 45:14Speaker 1: this morning writing that it sounds impressive, but that they
- 45:19Speaker 1: think Netflix is way too late, way too late to
- 45:23Speaker 1: get into this, that they've missed the boat on it.
- 45:25Speaker 1: They'll never catch up. You know, when they started with
- 45:28Speaker 1: the streaming stuff, they were ahead of everybody else. That's
- 45:32Speaker 1: how they got so big. And you remember at the time,
- 45:37Speaker 1: you kids today, you won't know what I'm talking about.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Before Netflix, if you wanted to see a movie at home,
- 45:44Speaker 1: you had to go to a store like a Blockbuster
- 45:46Speaker 1: video store, and you had to rent the movie for
- 45:49Speaker 1: a day or two. One time it was on a cassette,
- 45:53Speaker 1: a VHS cassett, and you'd have to rewind it. If
- 45:56Speaker 1: you didn't rewind it before you brought it back, you
- 45:59Speaker 1: get fined, and then later it was a DVD. This
- 46:02Speaker 1: sounds crazy. Can you imagine a twenty three year old listening.
- 46:05Speaker 1: What what do you mean you went to a street. Yeah,
- 46:07Speaker 1: you had to go to a blockbuster, rent the thing,
- 46:10Speaker 1: bring it back. You had to go back the next day.
- 46:14Speaker 1: And state of the art was they put it like
- 46:16Speaker 1: a slot in the door, so he didn't have to
- 46:18Speaker 1: go during the day. You could go late at night
- 46:20Speaker 1: and drop it through the slot. But then Netflix started.
- 46:24Speaker 1: Netflix actually started, I think it was DVDs. It was DVDs,
- 46:27Speaker 1: and then they started streaming. Eventually they got rid of
- 46:29Speaker 1: the DVDs and streaming took over. So but again podcasting,
- 46:35Speaker 1: they're way too late to jump on board. Hey King Charles, boy,
- 46:40Speaker 1: is he out to get this? Prince Andrew. He stripped
- 46:42Speaker 1: him of his title, the Duke of this, the Duke
- 46:45Speaker 1: of that, the Earl of the Duke of Earl, whatever
- 46:47Speaker 1: the hell he was. King Charles keeps taking things away,
- 46:50Speaker 1: kicked him out of the wherever he was living, such palace,
- 46:55Speaker 1: taken everything. Final humiliation, he stripped his brother of his
- 46:59Speaker 1: other tie. He was left with Royal Highness and Prince
- 47:03Speaker 1: so he's no longer any of that stuff.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Now.
- 47:06Speaker 1: This is all because of the Jeffrey Epstein, Gallaine Maxwell stuff.
- 47:10Speaker 1: This woman wrote a book with all the allegations, but
- 47:14Speaker 1: it's never been proven. Nothing's been proven. Just because somebody
- 47:17Speaker 1: claimed it hasn't been proven. But on the other hand,
- 47:21Speaker 1: he's never denied it. He's never actually denied the allegations.
- 47:25Speaker 1: So the only thing he has left he's a Vice
- 47:27Speaker 1: Admiral of the Royal Navy. That title given him in
- 47:30Speaker 1: twenty fifteen. He did spend twenty two years in the
- 47:34Speaker 1: Royal Navy and he actually saw active service. Was a
- 47:38Speaker 1: helicopter pilot during the Falklands War. Ooh, a helicopter pilot.
- 47:42Speaker 1: This is like Mikey Cheryl. Two of them could start
- 47:45Speaker 1: a little helicopter company there. But this Prince Andrew, I
- 47:49Speaker 1: don't know what he's gonna do. If I were him,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I would just leave. Just hey, come over here, come
- 47:53Speaker 1: over here. They'll treat Hill like a big tabloid star.
- 47:55Speaker 1: But he would face charges if he came out of here,
- 47:59Speaker 1: so that's why he has to stay in England. Hey,
- 48:02Speaker 1: we'll take some calls in a minute. Eight hundred three
- 48:04Speaker 1: two one zero seven ten is the number eight hundred
- 48:08Speaker 1: three two one zero seven ten.
- 48:11Speaker 7: Did Mark on Demand by setting a pre sad for
- 48:14Speaker 7: his podcast on the iHeart Radio app. Now back to
- 48:18Speaker 7: Mark Simon on.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Wor Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to Uh,
- 48:25Speaker 1: let's go to John and Florida.
- 48:26Speaker 10: John, how you doing morning?
- 48:28Speaker 2: Mark?
- 48:29Speaker 11: Mark bum Sean go from retail for the airlines.
- 48:32Speaker 10: To pick up the controller salaries and then reimbursed them
- 48:35Speaker 10: when the government comes back.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Well, those airlines don't make much money to begin with.
- 48:40Speaker 1: The profit marginal an airline is practically nothing. It's almost
- 48:44Speaker 1: impossible to run an airline. As Donald Trump used to
- 48:48Speaker 1: point that out. You know, uh, he used to explain
- 48:50Speaker 1: that he went to business school with all these geniuses.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Some of them became billionaires, and some of them didn't
- 48:56Speaker 1: make that much money. And he said the reason was
- 48:58Speaker 1: some of them went into the right business. Is they
- 49:00Speaker 1: went into oil and made billions. Some of them went
- 49:02Speaker 1: into airlines and you can barely make a living there.
- 49:05Speaker 1: It's not easy on those airlines. I know they they
- 49:09Speaker 1: can be really awful to customers, but good news is
- 49:13Speaker 1: they're not making much profit those airlines. Let's go to
- 49:16Speaker 1: Georgia and Long Island, George, how you doing fine?
- 49:19Speaker 10: Mare, Just a quick statement, Mendani has some type of
- 49:23Speaker 10: cult following where you can get a million votes like
- 49:26Speaker 10: he did.
- 49:27Speaker 2: I think you'll have an impact on the governor's election.
- 49:29Speaker 10: Whether it be fin as we just said.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Now, it's not a cult following. When you win
- 49:33Speaker 1: a majority of the votes in New York City, that's
- 49:35Speaker 1: more than a cult. That's a lot of people, but
- 49:38Speaker 1: a lot of that. These younger people who you know,
- 49:43Speaker 1: indoctrinated in all these universities, haven't seen a lot of history.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Don't know that Every so often, every twenty years, somebody
- 49:49Speaker 1: comes along with this socialist nonsense and it always fails.
- 49:54Speaker 1: And anytime the government jumps in and decided they're going
- 49:58Speaker 1: to do stuff for the poor, always the rich that
- 50:00Speaker 1: benefits the most from it. In the end, he always
- 50:03Speaker 1: figured out how to benefit from it. Let's go to
- 50:05Speaker 1: Nick and basking Ridge. Nick, how you doing hi?
- 50:09Speaker 6: Mark? You mentioned Trump arrangement syndome, and I have a
- 50:14Speaker 6: three word explanation of exactly what that is. Ego hates ego, Well,
- 50:25Speaker 6: that could be.
- 50:26Speaker 1: That could be also, But a lot of psychologists ever
- 50:29Speaker 1: talked about this. They think it's just that he's everything
- 50:33Speaker 1: that they they tried to stamp out in life, like
- 50:36Speaker 1: old fashioned macho macho man and just this like alpha male,
- 50:43Speaker 1: this like old good, old fashioned American moxie. They thought
- 50:47Speaker 1: they stamped that all out. They don't want to see
- 50:48Speaker 1: that anymore. Let's go to Bill at Bradley Beach. Bill,
- 50:51Speaker 1: how you.
- 50:51Speaker 12: Doing right, Mark?
- 50:53Speaker 11: Good morning.
- 50:54Speaker 12: Well we've got Jefferies on saying about and across the
- 50:59Speaker 12: living and every thing. Yet the Democrats couldn't care about
- 51:02Speaker 12: the fifty year high inflation for four years out of
- 51:05Speaker 12: the Biden dictatorship, where they actually eliminated the dollar store.
- 51:10Speaker 12: When they left, everything was twenty five and more everything
- 51:14Speaker 12: in the country.
- 51:15Speaker 1: What are you saying, Democrats are hypocritical? You can't believe that.
- 51:19Speaker 1: That's not the Democrats, I know, hypocrites. Why that's unheard? Yeah.
- 51:25Speaker 6: No.
- 51:26Speaker 1: The funniest thing is you watch these videos where they
- 51:27Speaker 1: all say Trump talked about getting rid of the filibuster,
- 51:31Speaker 1: and they all have these you can see these online,
- 51:33Speaker 1: all of them, Bernie Sanders, Obama, all of them saying,
- 51:37Speaker 1: why that's Unamerican, that's a threat to our democracy. To
- 51:41Speaker 1: get rid of the philibuster. Then you'll see it cut
- 51:44Speaker 1: together with the video of them from four years ago
- 51:45Speaker 1: saying we must get rid of the philibuster. It's anti American,
- 51:48Speaker 1: it's anti democracy. Let's go to Carl and Sayerville, Carl,
- 51:52Speaker 1: how you doing, by Mark? How are you good?
- 51:55Speaker 2: You know Mark, the incoming marriage. Do you think he's
- 51:57Speaker 2: going to like maybe scale down the Independence Day celebration
- 52:02Speaker 2: and shorten the Thanksgiving Day pro You know, I didn't.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Talk about that. I didn't think about that. Oh that's
- 52:11Speaker 1: a very good point. I didn't think about that. Excellent point.
- 52:14Speaker 1: You know this guy, you know, he can't raise your taxes.
- 52:17Speaker 1: He can't give you free busses. That's not in his power.
- 52:19Speaker 1: But I didn't think about that. He can start getting
- 52:23Speaker 1: rid of the Rockefeller Center tree. He could eliminate the
- 52:26Speaker 1: Columbus Day parade. He could. I don't know. That's because
- 52:30Speaker 1: it's tough to do. That would be really tough for
- 52:31Speaker 1: him to do. But you're right, we got to keep
- 52:33Speaker 1: an eye on that. Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn. Vincent,
- 52:36Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 52:37Speaker 10: Good morning, Mark, Good morning Anthony from the Bronx. Mark,
- 52:41Speaker 10: Maybe Mondomio stall outdoor loudspeakers around city Hall and instead
- 52:47Speaker 10: of a minaret. We'll have to call the prayer every day.
- 52:50Speaker 10: The Muslim called the prayer Uh Mark, speaking about the
- 52:55Speaker 10: Communists and everything about how dur mccartty day to day
- 53:00Speaker 10: come after you. Right after they caught and executed to
- 53:05Speaker 10: kidnapper Sacco and Vanzetti of Uh Lucky Limberg's child in
- 53:11Speaker 10: my grandfather's building at the time, and my mother was
- 53:14Speaker 10: alive and living there. She told me on the top
- 53:18Speaker 10: floor there was an Italian Communist living there with his
- 53:21Speaker 10: wife and his kid, and one day the FBI came
- 53:25Speaker 10: to arrest him, came to get him uh for Communist activity,
- 53:30Speaker 10: and the punk that he was, he locked himself in
- 53:34Speaker 10: the apartment and the punk killed his wife, killed his kid,
- 53:39Speaker 10: and then killed himself because he couldn't face the music.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Mark.
- 53:43Speaker 10: I wanted to ask you man, and you're.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Out there story, yeah, Mark.
- 53:50Speaker 10: I don't think Jessica Tish is going to take uh
- 53:54Speaker 10: Mandami to Commun's offer to be police ammission and his
- 54:00Speaker 10: ruma has it that she wants to run for mayor
- 54:04Speaker 10: or the next time around, and she would she would easily,
- 54:08Speaker 10: She'd have the money she could self fund. And I
- 54:12Speaker 10: don't think she wants to be her name in any
- 54:14Speaker 10: way in her family's name associated with Zora Mandanmi. She
- 54:19Speaker 10: doesn't need that because she'll fill out. She'll finish out
- 54:24Speaker 10: her term with Adams. She's doing a great job and
- 54:28Speaker 10: why would she want.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Bad No, she probably won't risk it for Vincent. Great call,
- 54:32Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. We were hearing if she leaves mom,
- 54:36Speaker 1: Donnie's looking at Rodney Harrison, Suffolk County Police Commissioner. That's
- 54:41Speaker 1: the guy he's looking at, former NYPD Chief of Department.
- 54:44Speaker 1: So that's not the world's worst choice. But hey, when
- 54:47Speaker 1: we come back, Roger Friedman will be with us, Great
- 54:52Speaker 1: entertainment reporter. We'll talk to him next on seven to ten.
- 54:55Speaker 1: W O. R.
- 54:57Speaker 4: Marks On.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Well, Roger Friedman, the great entertainment reporter. His website is
- 55:06Speaker 1: showbiz for one one dot com. We're trying to get
- 55:13Speaker 1: all right, he'll turn up. But as for showbiz four
- 55:15Speaker 1: one one dot com. There's new stories there all the time.
- 55:19Speaker 1: We are looking for him. Uh and he'll turn that
- 55:22Speaker 1: him there, Yeah, I see him there, We got him.
- 55:25Speaker 1: He'll turn up. It's Showbiz four one one dot com,
- 55:30Speaker 1: great entertainment site. News stories every day there. Roger Friedman,
- 55:33Speaker 1: how you doing Roger Friedman. Are you there? I am, Oh,
- 55:41Speaker 1: there you are.
- 55:42Speaker 5: I've just endured the Grammy nominations.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Yeah, so tell us about the Grammy nominations.
- 55:49Speaker 5: Well, uh, it's the all the pop people who you
- 55:54Speaker 5: know on the radio if you're fourteen, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber,
- 56:00Speaker 5: they're the main names. Lady Gaga got seven nominations for
- 56:04Speaker 5: her Man Eater album and she's going to win. The
- 56:08Speaker 5: others are just superfluous in the traditional pop section, which
- 56:15Speaker 5: is more for you and me.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Actually, I believe or not, I listened to ze like
- 56:19Speaker 1: that stuff.
- 56:19Speaker 5: Okay, I like one Sabrina Carpenter, who I just saw
- 56:23Speaker 5: by the way at the garden and loved her Manchild
- 56:27Speaker 5: album and song got nominated. And that bunny Billie Eilish
- 56:36Speaker 5: got nominated for a song that I thought came out
- 56:38Speaker 5: the year before. But all right, but it's Luther Kendrick
- 56:43Speaker 5: Lamar for his song Luther with Sizza.
- 56:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:47Speaker 5: But those are the ones. But the really the category
- 56:51Speaker 5: that you and I would enjoy the most would be
- 56:55Speaker 5: traditional pop, and that's Barber streisand Jennifer Hudson, Elton John
- 57:03Speaker 5: and Brandy Carlisle. Those are the main names you know
- 57:07Speaker 5: who didn't get nominated for that category, which I really
- 57:10Speaker 5: would have liked to was Ringo Star. He had this
- 57:12Speaker 5: great country album called look Up, and they didn't do
- 57:15Speaker 5: anything for it.
- 57:18Speaker 1: But I really liked that album.
- 57:22Speaker 5: I really liked it. But you know, I would say
- 57:26Speaker 5: that Chapel Roane, she's nominated. But it's really the Grammys
- 57:32Speaker 5: are very narrow at this point because they're really just
- 57:35Speaker 5: looking at the top chart stars. They're they're they're looking
- 57:40Speaker 5: for a good TV show, which you can't blame them.
- 57:42Speaker 5: They want ratings, which are necessary to stay alive, and
- 57:47Speaker 5: they're not going into really like diverse or interesting things
- 57:51Speaker 5: you know that might surprise you, which they've done in
- 57:54Speaker 5: the past. This is a very straightforward list of you know,
- 57:58Speaker 5: top forty hits, commercial it's that kind of thing.
- 58:01Speaker 1: Well, but that's what we did that in the nineties,
- 58:03Speaker 1: the two thousands, they we did that.
- 58:06Speaker 5: No, yeah, it's been a little better in the past.
- 58:09Speaker 5: But the TV show February first, it'll be a big,
- 58:16Speaker 5: big show. And if they get some of these people,
- 58:19Speaker 5: if they gets Loffe, she's do you know who she is? Yeah,
- 58:24Speaker 5: she's a fabulous singer around there. Phil being good shaped.
- 58:29Speaker 5: They nominated some Layla Biali really but for Winter Songs,
- 58:37Speaker 5: and we're going to have to look her up and
- 58:39Speaker 5: see who she is Best New Artist. Those are all good.
- 58:43Speaker 5: And this guy Somber. You know who Somber is? Yeah, Okay,
- 58:48Speaker 5: he's twenty years old. He's from the Lower East Side.
- 58:52Speaker 5: He's about nine feet tall. He's the son of the
- 58:57Speaker 5: guy who does all the booking like the Elton Shawn
- 59:02Speaker 5: and am Fhar shows and that kind of thing. He's
- 59:04Speaker 5: got a big I never knew his name is Andy Boose.
- 59:08Speaker 5: I never knew that he was a musician himself. And
- 59:12Speaker 5: his son's name is Sean Boose and I guess the
- 59:15Speaker 5: middle initial is M, so it's SMB. And he calls
- 59:18Speaker 5: himself Somber. He said two massive hits are three massive
- 59:22Speaker 5: hits on the charts all year, and a big album
- 59:26Speaker 5: into a debut album, and he's going to win Best
- 59:29Speaker 5: New Artist. He is the Best New Artist. So he's
- 59:32Speaker 5: a real New York story. I think he dropped out
- 59:35Speaker 5: of school like seventeen to become a rock star and
- 59:38Speaker 5: became one sort of overnight.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 59:40Speaker 5: So that's a big New York story.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Hey, where are the Grammy's being held this year.
- 59:45Speaker 5: Grammys are in Los Angeles February first, from the what
- 59:49Speaker 5: I call the Staples Center, what others called the Crypto
- 59:52Speaker 5: Crypto crypt dot com. And they'll be preceded by two events.
- 59:58Speaker 5: Music Cares Person of the Year Award on the Friday
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: of that weekend is going to Mariah Carey and she'll
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: show up sometime that evening, probably not on time, but
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: sometime that evening. The next night, Clive Davis throws his
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: annual pre Grammy dinner.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: He'll be.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Almost ninety four years old by then, Please God knock Wood,
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: and it's going to be that'll be an amazing night.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: So the Grammy weekend is going to be terrific. And
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: it's the last Grammys. I believe it's the last Grammys
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: on CBS. CBS blew their chances to have the Grammys
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: for the next ten years, and after this January goes
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: to NBC.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: Oh all right, yea, Roger VI, tell me, what's the
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: deal with this Michael Jackson movie? Good bad? What is it?
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: Oh?
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: So the Michael Jackson movie. I'm looking forward to it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: But originally the plan was, this is crazy. The plan
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: was to have a lot like three hour where they
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: were going to take you through the nineties and the
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: two thousands where he gets arrested and there's like you know, molestation,
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: charged and trials and all this other stuff. And finally
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: someone came to their senses and said, nobody wants to
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: see that in the movie. So they went back. They
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: went back and made a film that ends, you know,
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: around the time of nineteen ninety like after bad and
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: thriller and dangerous and when he's at the peak of
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: his career before the bad stuff comes, and that movie
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: will be terrific. And it's very similar in that way
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: to the MJ musical playing on Broadway and around the world,
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: which is a huge hit, by the way, huge And
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: that also stops at the end of the nineteen eighties
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: when Michael is at his peak powers and you know,
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: adored by everyone. The next twenty years are you know,
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: a crazy time. They see that in a documentary, that's fine,
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: but nobody wants to see Michael going to court and
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: I'm just not going to work. Yeah, So I Jermaine
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: Jackson's son Jafar is playing Michael in the movie, and
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: there's a great cast that goes with it, and there's
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: going to be Walter Wall music, and my prediction is
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: it's going to be like Bohemian Rhapsody. People are going
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: to come out dancing and they're not going to think
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: about any bad stuff.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: Despite the fact that Michael had all that scandal that
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: we covered extensively and minutely, he is still one of
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: the top ten recording artists in the world. His estate
- 1:02:33Speaker 5: is worth a billion dollars. The records sell like crazy.
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: Thriller has been on the charts for the last month
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: because of Halloween, so there's no question that the movie
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: will be a hit. But that's that's what the movie
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: will be. Now today, I hear they might make a
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: second movie. My advice is, do not make that second movie.
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: Stop stop, well, well things are good.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: You know, yeah, we'll go a minute left. Tell me
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: tell me of Broadway. What's the hottest thing on Broadway?
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: The latest newest, hottest thing on Broadway, the.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Latest, hottest, newest new thing on Broadway.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: Tom Hanks?
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: I know Tom Hanks is off Broadway and he has
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: a show called This World or Tomorrow. The prices started
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: out at four hundred dollars a ticket, and nobody bought
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: the tickets that tell a couple of last week that
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: you could buy a ticket on any night in any section,
- 1:03:26Speaker 5: because no one was going to spend four hundred dollars.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Now they've cut the price by fifty seven percent. The
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: really good seats are two fifty nine, and decent seats
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: and very decent seats are one sixty nine. So now
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: everyone can see this play. Who wants to see a
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: regular play. I have friends who went in the first
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: week and said, it's a slight play, but charming and
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: the cast, it's wonderful to see them all on stage.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: It's at the Shed in Hudson Yards. It's a small theater,
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: so you can see Tom Hanks. You know, you'll be
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: able to see him, really see him, and you know,
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: I'm probably not going to go, but I think a
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: lot of people will go. And already several nights are
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: sold out because at you know, one hundred and sixty
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: nine dollars a seat, people will go for that.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, good thing about off Broadway. There's no bad
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: seats because it's a small theater.
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: You're close with, Yeah, there are no bad seats. And
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: then if you're thirty years old or younger, the tickets
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: are forty five dollars.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Okay, but if you're thirty or younger, you're not going
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: to know who this guy is.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: If this Tom Hanks, that might be a problem. Yeah,
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: but you and I would have gone at thirty years
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: old because we're old souls.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: There you go. Well, great stuff, Roger Freeman. Check out
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: his website. There's new stories every day there. Showbiz for
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: one one dot com, Showbiz for one one dot com.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Roger Friedman, thanks for being with us, Thank you, take care, hey,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: and now I'm here every day ten to noon. But

- 1:04:55Speaker 1: other segment that wasn't on the air. But you can
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: get get the podcast of this show and place you
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: get your podcast, or you can just go to seven
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: to ten WR dot com onor Well, I'm glad this
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: week is over. It's been a rough week here in
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: New York. The good news, all the big democratic politicians
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: are gone right now. They're gone all weekend. They're all
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: in Puerto Rico. They have this conference after every election.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: It started as after the election, just to you know, unwind,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: go take a break, candidates, we'll go down to Puerto Rico.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: But now it's every Democratic politician, official lobbyist. It's a
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: lot of wheeling and dealing, whereas Curtis would say, whining, dining,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: pocket lining, that kind of stuff. So it goes on
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: all weekend. They'll be back on Monday. I'm just warning you, Hey,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: we're out of time. I'll be back Monday every weekday
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: ten to noon, or listen anytime. Get the podcast, and
