Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: This medi podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host Spencer new Arth and
- 0:16Speaker 2: today we're joined by Randall, Brody, Max Alyssa, Reva.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Nate, and Corey.
- 0:21Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:23Speaker 2: Meteater's for verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 0:27Speaker 2: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 0:29Speaker 2: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Choosing and for the stat of the week.
- 0:33Speaker 2: This week we're looking at the most common category for
- 0:37Speaker 2: question ten. Randall wasn't satisfying that I only looked at
- 0:40Speaker 2: our last ten episodes to get that status, So today
- 0:43Speaker 2: I present to him a version that looks at our
- 0:47Speaker 2: last thirty episodes. During that time, the categories of wildlife,
- 0:51Speaker 2: natural history, cooking, and woodsmanship combined to be the final
- 0:55Speaker 2: question twenty seven percent of the time, Conservation was thirteen
- 0:59Speaker 2: percent of the time, I'm fishing was twenty three percent
- 1:02Speaker 2: of the time, and hunting was thirty seven percent of
- 1:05Speaker 2: the time. Hunting was the final question four more times
- 1:08Speaker 2: than fishing in our last thirty episodes ending this conspiracy
- 1:13Speaker 2: that fishing gets more representation as question ten Randal, Well, you.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Know what they say, perception is reality that you know
- 1:21Speaker 1: what they say fake news.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I think it just means we need to direct our
- 1:26Speaker 3: hate or our frustration towards Brody for just being tests right.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Oh, I've been saying.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Here's our Infrequently Asked Question segment. If you have a
- 1:36Speaker 2: Trivia related question for our crew, send it to Trivia
- 1:40Speaker 2: at the Mediator dot com with the subject line I FAQ.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Matt Lappin says, what's the weirdest question someone has sent you? Matt,
- 1:48Speaker 2: I would say it's less about like the specifics of
- 1:51Speaker 2: what's in the question. It's usually more about how it's
- 1:54Speaker 2: delivered or when it's sent. Last night, for example, I
- 1:57Speaker 2: got five questions sent during the super Bowl, which makes
- 2:00Speaker 2: me wonder, like, what are you doing that you're not
- 2:03Speaker 2: in on this like national event of watching the Super
- 2:06Speaker 2: Bowl that you're like, I'm going to write an email?
- 2:08Speaker 5: Uh?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Inspired? Were they all questions about nachos?
- 2:13Speaker 2: No, it was totally unrelated. It was Uh it's just
- 2:16Speaker 2: like not on that person's radar, which is cool. I'm
- 2:19Speaker 2: glad that we have those listeners.
- 2:20Speaker 4: What do you respond with are you watching the No.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But I should have thought about it.
- 2:24Speaker 2: I was like, oh, the first one came there, and
- 2:25Speaker 2: was like, oh, another one, and then another one five
- 2:28Speaker 2: people during the Super Bowl. Another thing is I've probably
- 2:32Speaker 2: gotten in the history of the Meat Eater Trivia inbox,
- 2:35Speaker 2: fifty people who have sent me a fax to the inbox.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So then what I get is like a piece of
- 2:43Speaker 2: paper that someone wrote on that they then and then
- 2:45Speaker 2: they then walked to a fax machine and then sent
- 2:48Speaker 2: the facts to the trivia at the meat eater dot com.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Uh.
- 2:51Speaker 2: That's a really special way. It's amazing to send me
- 2:54Speaker 2: a question. So that's probably the weirdest question. Were those
- 2:57Speaker 2: fifty folks who have sent me faxes?
- 3:00Speaker 6: We should do a fax only episode one time.
- 3:03Speaker 2: You find some common in those questions from the people said,
- 3:07Speaker 2: there you go, We've already got the branding. Say it again,
- 3:10Speaker 2: ran just the facts, just the thing.
- 3:12Speaker 1: If I knew how to do that, I'd do it
- 3:13Speaker 1: all the time. It would be so funny setting a fax.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, let's get a fax machine for your office, right,
- 3:21Speaker 2: and they'll just fax each other day.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Uh.
- 3:24Speaker 2: So that's that's the weirdest question. People sending me faxed questions.
- 3:28Speaker 2: All right, we have some housekeeping for today. I want
- 3:30Speaker 2: to tell you about an upcoming event. This Friday, Valentine's Day,
- 3:34Speaker 2: The Meat Eater Crew is hosting the Grand Slam after
- 3:37Speaker 2: Party at the NWTF Convention in Nashville. Me cal Clay
- 3:42Speaker 2: and Giannis will be there to celebrate turkeys, and at
- 3:45Speaker 2: the party there will be live music in live trivia.
- 3:48Speaker 2: The show starts at eight forty five and tickets are
- 3:51Speaker 2: on sale now for forty dollars. Come hang with us
- 3:54Speaker 2: on the most romantic day of the year and you
- 3:56Speaker 2: might just get lucky winning a Raffle prize. God WTF
- 4:00Speaker 2: dot org for more details.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Masterfully done.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Uh Cliffhanger right there?
- 4:05Speaker 2: All right, The Shelby and Extra today is a five,
- 4:08Speaker 2: so I'm putting us on perfect score a lot. With that,
- 4:10Speaker 2: we're onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I need to know what I stand and win everything.
- 4:21Speaker 4: How's that? Just tend to win everything?
- 4:30Speaker 1: Gamon suckers.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Question one. The topic is conservation. As always, this will
- 4:36Speaker 2: be multiple choice. Which of these people does not have
- 4:39Speaker 2: a national forest named after them?
- 4:42Speaker 4: Is it?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Davy Crockett, Annie Oakley, Mark Twain, George Custer, Which of
- 4:52Speaker 2: these people does not have a national forest named after them?
- 4:56Speaker 4: Is it?
- 4:57Speaker 1: Davy Crockett, Annie Oakley, Mark Twain, George.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Custer, Confident, Randall and Brody quick to answer, Oh wow.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Who's calling you? Brody? Is it important? Oh? No, not important? Yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 1: hang up?
- 5:21Speaker 2: Which of these people does not have a national forest
- 5:23Speaker 2: named after them? Davy Crockett, Annie Oakley, Mark Twain, George Custer.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers? We
- 5:31Speaker 2: have Nate saying George Custer. Corey says Annie Oakley. Reva
- 5:36Speaker 2: says Annie Oakley, Randall, Annie Oakley.
- 5:39Speaker 1: That's a trick question, dude, Nate's a recent transplant.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Alyssa, Max and Brody all say Annie Oakley, they got it.
- 5:45Speaker 2: The correct answer is Annie Oakley. Tell Nate why he
- 5:48Speaker 2: should know that one?
- 5:49Speaker 6: Because it's like, we're like, how many miles.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Away eastern Montana?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Probably what two interre miles? The Davy Crockett National Forest
- 5:58Speaker 2: is in Texas, Mark Twain National Forest is in Missouri,
- 6:02Speaker 2: and Custern National Forest is in Montana. Although there's no
- 6:05Speaker 2: Annie Oakley National Forest, she does have a museum, festival,
- 6:09Speaker 2: TV show, and Broadway musical named after her.
- 6:12Speaker 4: That's what I was thinking of.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Do you know what the Broadway musical is?
- 6:17Speaker 1: That's right? Are you familiar with it?
- 6:18Speaker 4: Though not really?
- 6:20Speaker 5: What kind of gun is it?
- 6:21Speaker 1: Phil Winchester model exactly? I actually don't know what it is,
- 6:28Speaker 1: so I don't either.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Question two, the topic is hunting, and this next great
- 6:32Speaker 2: question is via Nathan Noble. This monopod company is named
- 6:37Speaker 2: after North America's smallest falcon. This monopod company is named
- 6:45Speaker 2: after North America's smallest falcon. Room is not quite as
- 6:55Speaker 2: confident on question two.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Are we talking about cameras or guns? Well, the category
- 7:05Speaker 5: is hunting, I know, but when you say monopod, I
- 7:09Speaker 5: think cameras.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Some people with a camera spencer.
- 7:13Speaker 2: This monopod company is named after North America's smallest falcon.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I don't see any of our players with an answer. Quiet, Randall,
- 7:26Speaker 2: do you have an answer?
- 7:28Speaker 1: I can think of a company. Okay, Brodie, I got
- 7:32Speaker 1: an answer.
- 7:33Speaker 2: This monopod company is named after North America's smallest falcon.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Hmmm, I'm just trying to go through birds.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Right now.
- 7:48Speaker 2: For North America's smallest falcon. We may have a zero
- 7:52Speaker 2: percenter on question two.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That's disappointing index. Yeah, how do you feel about your answer?
- 8:01Speaker 4: Randall?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Uh, I don't like it. Okay, but I have two guesses,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and one I know is a company. This monopod company
- 8:13Speaker 1: is named after North America's smallest falcon.
- 8:17Speaker 3: I'm looking up Annie Oakley's guns right now. She had
- 8:20Speaker 3: so many guns from all kinds of brands. I'm sure
- 8:23Speaker 3: six Hours also one of them.
- 8:27Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, Yeah, I'm not gonna get it.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Nate saying Mavin.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Corey says peregrine, uh Reva says man Fioto, Manfrodo, Manfrodo.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Randall says kestrel, Alyssa says red Max without an answer,
- 8:50Speaker 2: Brody says kestrel. The correct answer is kestrel. Brody and
- 8:57Speaker 2: Randall got that one, right, tongue. The average kestrel is
- 9:01Speaker 2: about the size of a mourning dove. Besides being the
- 9:04Speaker 2: smallest falcon on the continent, they are also one of
- 9:07Speaker 2: the most common and most colorful. The bird goes by
- 9:10Speaker 2: many nicknames like the sparrowhawk, killie hawk, grasshopper hawk, and mouser.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I just think of a wind check thing.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah, That's what I was thinking of.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Explain, you know, the little ballistic wind calculating weather meter
- 9:25Speaker 4: like jump coasters will have them or whatever.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Now, Steve was in here recording vo before this show,
- 9:30Speaker 2: and he must have said the word kestrel fifty times.
- 9:33Speaker 2: So I'm glad nobody was listening to closely. Did you
- 9:35Speaker 2: catch on to that?
- 9:36Speaker 3: Phil, Yes, spoilers for an upcoming episode of A Hunting History.
- 9:40Speaker 1: What a coincidence?
- 9:41Speaker 2: He said, kestrel A whole bunch yep. Question three, The
- 9:44Speaker 2: topic is The topic is cooking. The Escafier School of
- 9:49Speaker 2: Culinary Arts says this type of knife is ideal for
- 9:53Speaker 2: working with small vegetables and his quote basically a mini
- 9:57Speaker 2: chef's knife. The Escafier School of Culinary Arts says this
- 10:04Speaker 2: type of knife is ideal for working with small vegetables
- 10:08Speaker 2: and is basically a mini chef's knife. Our room is
- 10:13Speaker 2: very confident on this one. It's everybody ready. Oh, we're
- 10:18Speaker 2: waiting on Riva.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We can give you some time, Riva, give the audience
- 10:23Speaker 1: some time as well.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Sure your other players are watching you. Now, though Riva
- 10:29Speaker 2: put a lot of pressure.
- 10:31Speaker 1: I'm staring at the board say that I find myself
- 10:33Speaker 1: using this type of knife very often.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Not what I reach for a lot, you know what.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I don't either, but I like it. Now I'm wondering
- 10:41Speaker 1: if I have it correct or if I'm using the
- 10:44Speaker 1: knife that I think I'm using.
- 10:47Speaker 4: We couldn't find our knives in the move, and I
- 10:49Speaker 4: use this exclusively for like the last three months.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Okay, very familiar.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I find this knife to be my sixth finger
- 10:56Speaker 2: when I'm in the kitchen.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Reva, do you give up? Okay, I use it.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Nate and
- 11:08Speaker 2: Corey saying pairing, Reva says Parry Randall, and Alyssa and
- 11:14Speaker 2: Max and Brody saying pairing.
- 11:16Speaker 1: They got it.
- 11:17Speaker 2: The correct answer is pairing, and the spelling of that
- 11:20Speaker 2: is p A R I n G.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Good thing doesn't count, that's right.
- 11:26Speaker 2: They say. A pairing knife is great for peeling veggies,
- 11:30Speaker 2: removing seeds, deveining shrimp, and trimming meat. Most pairing knives
- 11:35Speaker 2: have a blade that's less than three and a half
- 11:37Speaker 2: inches long, making them I deal for precise cuts.
- 11:41Speaker 1: So you guys aren't using paring knives.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Stuff like that.
- 11:45Speaker 6: I just grabbed the old pocket knife.
- 11:46Speaker 2: True, I use it for everything because I cut myself. Yeah,
- 11:51Speaker 2: knives all the time, so that one less.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Knife to cut yourself on. Yeah, I'm always cooking in
- 11:55Speaker 1: my sweatpants, so I don't have a pocket knife.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Question forward, the topic is wildlife, and this next great
- 12:02Speaker 2: question is via Philip Weeder. Hold what nice animal was
- 12:07Speaker 2: on American nickels between nineteen thirteen and nineteen thirty eight?
- 12:15Speaker 2: What hoofed animal was on American nickels between nineteen thirteen
- 12:18Speaker 2: and nineteen thirty eight? Brody and Randall and Nate, We're
- 12:23Speaker 2: all confident.
- 12:24Speaker 1: In their answer. A nickel on a nickel? Oh, nineteen thirteen,
- 12:30Speaker 1: I'm thinking nineteen. I'm trying to remember what you call
- 12:33Speaker 1: a coin collector. It's a fun word.
- 12:35Speaker 2: I could google that for you. You think there's a specific name,
- 12:38Speaker 2: like a rock hound.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's not a rock it's like a it's
- 12:42Speaker 1: an ologist, a numis a numis maddest. Yeah, that's what
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm thinking of, is it? Yeah?
- 12:50Speaker 2: Yeah, as met new missmatist numismatist.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Maybe there you go. Maybe it's a funny word though,
- 12:59Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. That's why I was making
- 13:01Speaker 1: that face.
- 13:02Speaker 2: What hoofed animal was on American nickels between nineteen thirteen
- 13:06Speaker 2: nineteen thirty eight.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It's everybody ready because we don't have any nomismatists in
- 13:13Speaker 1: the house. No, Max, you like your answer.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Let me see if you should like your answer.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you should go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 13:23Speaker 2: We have Nate and Corey saying bison, Revas Donkey, Randall
- 13:28Speaker 2: says buffalo, Alyssa says horse, Max and a Brody say buffalo.
- 13:34Speaker 2: The correct answer is bison, were.
- 13:36Speaker 6: Buffalo talking about African buffalo.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Those coins are referred to as the Buffalo Nickel. Teddy
- 13:45Speaker 2: Roosevelt expressed dissatisfaction with the artistry of American coins in
- 13:49Speaker 2: nineteen oh four, which launched a new era for the
- 13:52Speaker 2: US mint. The Buffalo nickel was considered one of the
- 13:55Speaker 2: most beautiful coins, but also one of the most flawed.
- 13:59Speaker 2: The Nichols wore down three times faster than most coins,
- 14:02Speaker 2: with the words five cents regularly rubbing off. The Buffalo
- 14:06Speaker 2: Nickels stopped production after twenty five.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Years for that reason. What's on it now?
- 14:11Speaker 2: Thomas Jefferson and or no.
- 14:15Speaker 1: The is it the Jefferson Memorial?
- 14:18Speaker 2: I'm not sure when they do it a coin they're
- 14:21Speaker 2: obligated to make it for twenty five years, and they
- 14:23Speaker 2: knew pretty quickly the Buffalo nickel was not the forever coin.
- 14:27Speaker 2: So as soon as that twenty five years was up,
- 14:29Speaker 2: they were done with the Buffalo nicks.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Sounds like pennies are done for two now.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a great super Bowl. To someone else
- 14:35Speaker 1: is dissatisfied with the artistry of American.
- 14:39Speaker 2: That that was a moment where it's like someone writing
- 14:41Speaker 2: to the meat eater in box when Donald Trump is
- 14:43Speaker 2: tweeting about getting rid of the penny, Like, I know
- 14:46Speaker 2: you're at the game, dude. Question five, the topic is fishing.
- 14:51Speaker 2: The National Weather Service defines this as quote sustained surface
- 14:57Speaker 2: winds of thirty four to forty seven knots. The National
- 15:04Speaker 2: Weather Service defines this as sustained service winds of thirty
- 15:09Speaker 2: four to forty seven knots. Brody and Randall and Nate
- 15:15Speaker 2: all quick to answer. And question five, the topic is fishing.
- 15:25Speaker 6: You got web service, keep me entertained here.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Sustained certain of thirty four to forty seven.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I thought that was a.
- 15:36Speaker 6: Great answer, but you got time to change it if
- 15:38Speaker 6: you Brody, stick with your God.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah, the seat next to Brody is kind of a
- 15:45Speaker 1: risky choice next to Brody. I know, I like it. Clearly.
- 15:51Speaker 5: He doesn't show me his answers, though.
- 15:55Speaker 6: You want to see my answer?
- 15:56Speaker 2: Yeah, m hm hm did you consider that?
- 16:01Speaker 4: No?
- 16:01Speaker 2: Okay, Max and Brody? Oh wow, Brody is going back
- 16:10Speaker 2: to his whiteboard. The National Weather Service defines this as
- 16:15Speaker 2: sustained surface winds of thirty four to forty seven knots Randall,
- 16:20Speaker 2: Do you have this one right?
- 16:21Speaker 1: I think so. I think so as the captain in
- 16:24Speaker 1: the room. A lot of pressure to get this one right.
- 16:29Speaker 1: An ex captain, I have an expired license. Let it
- 16:33Speaker 1: be known. We'll call you the expired captain.
- 16:36Speaker 4: That's fair.
- 16:38Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Is everybody ready go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 16:44Speaker 2: have Nate saying Gail Force. Cory says hurricane. Weava says headwind.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Randall says Gail. Alyssa says high tide. Max says straight
- 16:56Speaker 2: line wins. Brody says Gail Force. Correct answer is gayl
- 17:02Speaker 2: About half of the room got that.
- 17:04Speaker 1: At least right.
- 17:04Speaker 5: I put down something that was like, there you go,
- 17:06Speaker 5: something closely wind related.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, Gale wins are between thirty nine and forty six
- 17:12Speaker 2: miles per hour. Winds that are forty seven to fifty
- 17:16Speaker 2: four miles per hour are severe gales, fifty five to
- 17:20Speaker 2: sixty three miles per hour are storm winds, sixty four
- 17:23Speaker 2: to seventy two miles per hour are violent storm winds,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and above seventy two are hurricane wins. Phil, we're halfway
- 17:32Speaker 2: through the game of trivia. Give us a scoreboard update.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Oh what do you know? I'll just say it, brilliant, Randall.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I mean, I've got a perfect game. They're tied out
- 17:42Speaker 3: in first place. Nobody behind them has four points, but Nate, Corey,
- 17:47Speaker 3: and Max have three points, Alissa has two and Riva
- 17:49Speaker 3: has one.
- 17:51Speaker 6: How many's Max got three?
- 17:53Speaker 5: Three better than the last time?
- 17:55Speaker 4: Phil, checking on your direction?
- 17:59Speaker 6: Yeah yeah, Question six, Look, I would love I do cheered.
- 18:04Speaker 6: I just love it if you if you want warm,
- 18:08Speaker 6: it's hard.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Hey, we're halfway there.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Who knows you were sitting in this seat won last
- 18:12Speaker 1: time of joy I haven't let you have it back.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Question six. The topic is natural history. The Organ Trail
- 18:23Speaker 2: video game made this nine letter disease famous, which has
- 18:28Speaker 2: symptoms like diarrhea, fever, vomiting, weight loss, and stomach cramps.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Oh, All, right.
- 18:37Speaker 2: The Organ Trail video game made this nine letter disease famous,
- 18:42Speaker 2: which has symptoms like diarrhea, fever, vomiting, weight loss, and
- 18:47Speaker 2: stomach cramps.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Phil, would you get this one right?
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yes, Spencer.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Are you surprised how much Organ Trail did you play
- 18:57Speaker 2: in your day?
- 18:57Speaker 4: You know what?
- 18:58Speaker 5: Here?
- 18:58Speaker 3: Here's the thing. So our computers and in my elementary
- 19:01Speaker 3: school when we had like library computer time or whatever,
- 19:04Speaker 3: when I was seven or eight, we had two games
- 19:06Speaker 3: we could play. One was the Oregon Trail.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Oh, and is the other one Finding Carmen San Diego. No,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I did.
- 19:12Speaker 4: I did say that at home.
- 19:14Speaker 3: But there was another game called The Incredible Machine. I
- 19:16Speaker 3: don't know if anyone played this, but it's basically you
- 19:18Speaker 3: you could design your own Rube Goldberg machines on like
- 19:20Speaker 3: a two D plane and with all kinds of like
- 19:22Speaker 3: little interactive parts and stuff. Okay, And that was always
- 19:25Speaker 3: more fun to me than the Organ Trails. I didn't
- 19:27Speaker 3: play a.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Lot of Organ Trailer. Oka.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Our our singular game, I think was Finding Carmen San Diego,
- 19:34Speaker 2: and I would credit that with what I feel like
- 19:36Speaker 2: is an above average geography knowledge. The Oregon Trail video game,
- 19:42Speaker 2: which has this which excuse me. The Organ Trail video
- 19:46Speaker 2: game made this nine letter disease famous, which has symptoms
- 19:48Speaker 2: like diarrhea, fever, vomiting, weight loss, and stomach wraps.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Oh, I can't wait to see what this is.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Sometimes it's an incredible answer on multiple levels.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Okay, Max providing high entertainment to uh Phil and Brody.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Watching his whiteboard. It's everybody ready, Let's go.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Ahead and reveal your answers. We have Nate saying dysentery.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Corey says listeria, Reva says dysentery, Randall dysentery, alyssa dysentery,
- 20:32Speaker 2: Maxwell says measles with a creative spelling. Brody says dysentery.
- 20:38Speaker 2: The correct answer is dysentery. About ten percent of those
- 20:43Speaker 2: who traveled the real Organ Trail died, with disease being
- 20:47Speaker 2: the biggest killer. Virtual pioneers were all too familiar with
- 20:51Speaker 2: other causes of video game death, being exhaustion, snake bites,
- 20:55Speaker 2: broken bones, drowning, blizzards, and starvation.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Randall, did you ever play the Organ? Oh? I loved it.
- 21:02Speaker 1: You got twenty shots when you're going hunting, remember that
- 21:05Speaker 1: the little bullet things, and.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Well they always they've like changed the game throughout the eras,
- 21:09Speaker 2: and so I don't know how long like twenty shells
- 21:13Speaker 2: has been.
- 21:13Speaker 1: And then it would it would just say, you killed
- 21:17Speaker 1: eleven hundred pounds of meat, you can only bring two
- 21:20Speaker 1: hundred with you. So it's a good wrinkle in the Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: good on them. Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Question seven, the topic is conservation. This canal, which was
- 21:31Speaker 2: famously blocked by a container ship in twenty twenty one,
- 21:35Speaker 2: has given passage to over one hundred non native fish
- 21:39Speaker 2: to the Mediterranean Sea. This canal, which was famously blocked
- 21:46Speaker 2: by a container ship in twenty twenty one, has given
- 21:49Speaker 2: passage to over one hundred non native fish to the
- 21:53Speaker 2: Mediterranean Sea.
- 21:58Speaker 1: What do you got, Randall? Nothing? I mean I got something,
- 22:04Speaker 1: but it's just too far afield. Really do you have
- 22:10Speaker 1: this one right?
- 22:10Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 22:11Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, World Traveler.
- 22:13Speaker 4: Well that's what I'm saying, dude. I feel like there's
- 22:15Speaker 4: so many bones given to Montana residents in this game,
- 22:18Speaker 4: because I.
- 22:20Speaker 6: Feel like you could word this question differently for like
- 22:24Speaker 6: every major canal in the world.
- 22:26Speaker 2: It's great, sure, Yeah, that's that's uh, that's part of
- 22:29Speaker 2: media trivia. Over one hundred native fish to the Mediterranean Sea.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Do you have this one right, Brody?
- 22:39Speaker 6: I think so okay, I mean I remember the whole thing.
- 22:43Speaker 6: I can pay I can like see your picture.
- 22:46Speaker 4: I'm trying to remember the ship's name. Oh that I
- 22:49Speaker 4: do know. It was ever Given, ever Given. That's it.
- 22:52Speaker 1: But you could be right too.
- 22:53Speaker 4: I think it had two names. That was confusing.
- 22:57Speaker 6: Hm hmm, let's go flip them Overfore someone gives this away, Well,
- 23:03Speaker 6: I got to google what it was called first.
- 23:04Speaker 1: It was the Ever Given. Is everybody ready.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Nate saying
- 23:11Speaker 2: Sue as Corey without an answer. Reva says Sue Az,
- 23:16Speaker 2: Randall and Alissa and Brody say the siue Az Canal.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Max says red Sa Canal. The correct answer is.
- 23:25Speaker 1: The Siuez Canal.
- 23:27Speaker 2: The siue Az Canal was completed in eighteen sixty nine,
- 23:31Speaker 2: connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. Since then,
- 23:35Speaker 2: over four hundred non native marine species have migrated into
- 23:39Speaker 2: the Mediterranean via the waterway. Most notable of them is
- 23:43Speaker 2: the lionfish, which now has established colonies off the coast
- 23:46Speaker 2: of Israel.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Go ahead and give yourself half a point.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Thanks, thanks Brody.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Question eight the topic is wildlife. And this is our
- 23:56Speaker 2: listener question of the week, which was won by Meggie
- 23:58Speaker 2: Green for sending this great question. Maggie is going to
- 24:01Speaker 2: get a board game signed by the crew. If you
- 24:04Speaker 2: want a chance to win our listener question of the Week,
- 24:06Speaker 2: then send your question to Trivia at the meat Eater
- 24:08Speaker 2: dot com. This musician used to host short nature documentaries
- 24:13Speaker 2: called Pleasent It Earth. Question eight, topic is wildlife. This
- 24:22Speaker 2: musician used to host short nature documentaries called Pleasent It Earth?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Brody, you have this one right?
- 24:30Speaker 6: I should hope so?
- 24:31Speaker 2: Okay, Nate and Randall both have answers as well. Max,
- 24:35Speaker 2: do you have this one right?
- 24:36Speaker 4: I don't know, Brody?
- 24:37Speaker 5: Do I.
- 24:39Speaker 6: Hey count yourself a winner?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Max was giving us a review of the halftime show
- 24:45Speaker 2: before we turned on the mics. One to ten, Max,
- 24:49Speaker 2: how good was the Kendrick Lamar halftime Show? I didn't
- 24:52Speaker 2: like it, but I like the beef that was going on.
- 24:55Speaker 1: But do you like Kendrick? Do you listen to a
- 24:57Speaker 1: lot of Kendrick? Kay?
- 24:58Speaker 5: I don't even know if I can tell you one song?
- 25:01Speaker 1: It probably wasn't Probably didn't like it.
- 25:04Speaker 2: So one to ten Max, Uh give it a three?
- 25:09Speaker 4: I liked it.
- 25:10Speaker 5: How it was like a real life music video happening
- 25:12Speaker 5: the whole entire time.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought that videography was cool, that that was
- 25:16Speaker 1: that is fun.
- 25:18Speaker 2: That's an experience made for us at home, not the
- 25:20Speaker 2: people in the stadium. That's got to be a real
- 25:21Speaker 2: bore to watch that happen in front of you. Again,
- 25:25Speaker 2: this musician used to host short nature documentaries called Pleasant
- 25:29Speaker 2: It Earth.
- 25:30Speaker 5: But speaking of the super Bowl, I saw this guy
- 25:32Speaker 5: on a commercial a couple of times.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Okay, is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 25:38Speaker 1: We have Nate saying Snoop Dogg.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Corey says, Kendrick lamar Reva, and Randall and Alyssa and
- 25:47Speaker 2: Max and Brody say Snoop Dogg.
- 25:49Speaker 1: They got it.
- 25:50Speaker 2: The correct answer is Snoop Dogg or what's his full name?
- 25:53Speaker 1: Randall Calvin Brotus.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I think I clearance was in there somewhere, but I
- 26:01Speaker 2: think I think you're right.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think you're right.
- 26:03Speaker 4: He's right.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Snoop would make these unscripted videos for the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Here he is narrating a fight between an otter and
- 26:12Speaker 2: crocodile's struggling to identify the otter, take it away?
- 26:16Speaker 4: What you do with your boy?
- 26:17Speaker 1: Big snoop dogg Okay, let's look at another animal.
- 26:21Speaker 3: These are.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Beavers'll look like, oh my god, that's a crocodile. That's
- 26:29Speaker 1: wally gaty. Look how they stand up on They told like, hey,
- 26:32Speaker 1: we got to get up out of here. Come on,
- 26:34Speaker 1: he got them cornered right now? Oh wow, what they're going?
- 26:39Speaker 4: Ahead?
- 26:39Speaker 1: Up wood?
- 26:40Speaker 4: He the ain't scared of him?
- 26:43Speaker 1: What is these animals? Give them the ones that eat snake? Son?
- 26:49Speaker 4: Is the mongooses?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Wow, it's about twelve of them, cause they didn't back
- 26:54Speaker 1: to gata up. I ain't never seen the gator get
- 26:57Speaker 1: punked by no mongolses.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Retreat retreat, Yeah, back up, yeah, leading balls.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Hey, I love that.
- 27:11Speaker 2: You can hear the wheel spinning if he says these
- 27:13Speaker 2: things are beavers mongooses. Phil, we have two questions left.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Give us a scoreboard update.
- 27:22Speaker 3: Yeah, you're thinking in the last place. You've got Corey
- 27:25Speaker 3: with three points coming out, Next is Reva and then
- 27:29Speaker 3: Max is four point Five's got a half point job Max?
- 27:32Speaker 3: And how that happens.
- 27:33Speaker 1: It looks bigger than the rest of ours.
- 27:36Speaker 3: For actually, Alissa has five Nate has six, and Brody
- 27:42Speaker 3: and Randall still have their perfect game with eight points,
- 27:46Speaker 3: and Nate is the only one who can catch up.
- 27:49Speaker 3: But let's you know, let's set serious room.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Nine. The topic is cooking.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Encyclopedia bridge Tanica defines this nine letter Italian word as
- 28:03Speaker 2: quote a first course or appetizer in Italian cuisine. Hmmm,
- 28:12Speaker 2: we've stumped the room with this one. Encyclopedia Britannica defines
- 28:17Speaker 2: this nine letter Italian word as a first course or
- 28:21Speaker 2: appetizer in Italian cuisine. Easy, Nate could possibly catch.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Nate. It's optimistic.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Freaking Annie is gonna haunt my dreams.
- 28:43Speaker 1: But you missed two.
- 28:45Speaker 4: But you guys are all going to miss this, and
- 28:47Speaker 4: then I'm the next one won overtime.
- 28:50Speaker 1: There we go. There's still a path. Huh, it's just
- 28:56Speaker 1: not going to come to me.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Encyclopedia Britannica defines this nine letter Italian word as a
- 29:02Speaker 2: first course or appetizer in Italian cuisine.
- 29:06Speaker 4: You are a cooking question monster, Corey.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Do you have this one right? Yeah? Okay, Corey and Nate.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Or we're going down together.
- 29:15Speaker 5: I'm trying to make up some word, right now, make
- 29:19Speaker 5: it Italian answer.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Your hint is that it's a nine letter Italian.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Don't look at mine.
- 29:26Speaker 2: It's not as a first course or appetizer an Italian cuisine.
- 29:32Speaker 4: I could sing you guys happy birthday in Italian if
- 29:35Speaker 4: you wanted.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Wow, you know what I would like that?
- 29:39Speaker 4: Well, hold on after the question.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Steve's birthday is on Thursday, and he's Italian. He's got
- 29:45Speaker 2: a vowel at the end of his last name. You
- 29:47Speaker 2: could come in and sing him Happy Birthday.
- 29:50Speaker 4: I will be in Salt Lake.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Damn season, just thought a bit, Spencer.
- 30:00Speaker 4: I know I should just shut my mouth.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Randal is squirming. Yes he is Randall, and I had
- 30:06Speaker 2: reservations at an Italian restaurant we do today nights, but
- 30:09Speaker 2: because of the snowstorm, I couldn't make it through the pass.
- 30:13Speaker 2: But had we gone there, maybe Randall would have gotten
- 30:16Speaker 2: this one right.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Yeah, mother nature.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Though all right, TikTok, Yeah, a first course or appetizer Italian?
- 30:26Speaker 5: Did you look at my answer?
- 30:29Speaker 4: What's your answer? I had this time?
- 30:32Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 30:35Speaker 2: We have Nate and Cory saying anti pasta.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Reva says order.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Randall says Antipasta Lissa without an answer, Max without an answer,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Brody says antipasta. The correct answer is antipasto or antipasti.
- 30:53Speaker 2: If you put antipasta, we'll give it to you. Often
- 30:56Speaker 2: gets corrupted to that version.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I just kept thinking of like when you go some
- 31:01Speaker 1: Italian restaurants have like primo secundi and they just enumerate them,
- 31:07Speaker 1: and I was just stuck in that headspace.
- 31:08Speaker 3: That's where I was.
- 31:09Speaker 1: I needed to get on a different menu, so I
- 31:11Speaker 1: appreciate that. Oh help.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Antipasto is the singular version of that word, and antipasti
- 31:20Speaker 2: is the plural antipasco. Antipasto can come in the form
- 31:24Speaker 2: of cured meats, sausages, olives, anchovies, sardines, fresh fruit, pickled veggies, mushrooms, shellfish,
- 31:31Speaker 2: and cheeses. Some examples of antipasto from the medeater dot
- 31:35Speaker 2: com include venison, tartar, walleye wings, and pickled gizzards.
- 31:39Speaker 5: I made tartar yesterday.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Antipasto, Max, Yeah, that was very good. All right, here's
- 31:44Speaker 2: a correct answer review so far. One was antioki two,
- 31:47Speaker 2: kestrel three, pairing knife, four, bison five, gale six, dysentery
- 31:54Speaker 2: seven Suez Canal eight, Snoop DOGG nine, Antipasto. Going into
- 32:00Speaker 2: question ten, we have Randall and Brody tied up with
- 32:03Speaker 2: nine correct answers. The topic is hunting, and this question
- 32:09Speaker 2: is via Adam Brennan. Give the first name of either
- 32:13Speaker 2: man that Pop and Young is named after? Randall, quick
- 32:18Speaker 2: to answer, Brody is now backed into a corner. Give
- 32:23Speaker 2: the first name of either man that Pope and Young
- 32:25Speaker 2: is named after?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Randall? Do you have this right with certainty?
- 32:29Speaker 4: Yes?
- 32:30Speaker 1: Could you name both men? Okay?
- 32:33Speaker 2: Maybe cross one out though, and that that can be
- 32:37Speaker 2: some flavor text for when I read your answer, but
- 32:40Speaker 2: then we know which one you want to make it.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Give the first name of either man that Pope and
- 32:45Speaker 2: Young is named after. Brody doing a lot of writing, Brody.
- 32:53Speaker 1: How's that process going going? Okay?
- 33:00Speaker 2: Randall is very optimistic, Brody, he could name both of
- 33:03Speaker 2: them if he had to.
- 33:05Speaker 1: We're just looking for one, though.
- 33:06Speaker 6: Are you trying to like get in my head or something?
- 33:08Speaker 1: Come on, try and do it.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I just create some drama for our listeners to enjoy. Well,
- 33:14Speaker 2: the rest of you sit here in silence. The first
- 33:18Speaker 2: name of either man that Pope and Young is named after.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Do you have this one right, Brody, we'll find out.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I was going to be shocked if he didn't know this. Wow.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I thought this was going to be just a wash,
- 33:29Speaker 1: like a good old fishing question, you know, the old
- 33:32Speaker 1: saying just another fishing question.
- 33:36Speaker 3: I've also noticed that Spencer has not chosen a fishing
- 33:39Speaker 3: question for the last question. Made me very I don't
- 33:43Speaker 3: think yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I think that's good for the health of the game.
- 33:47Speaker 2: That's a flaw, so I better fix that. And now
- 33:50Speaker 2: I've overcorrected it.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's like the NFL and quarterback rules.
- 33:53Speaker 4: You know, it's everybody ready, No, I'll give me one second.
- 33:57Speaker 4: Not that it matters.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Date, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 34:05Speaker 2: We have Nate saying, John Corey says, Brian Reeves says,
- 34:10Speaker 2: bring him Young, Randall says Saxton he crossed out. Arthur
- 34:15Speaker 2: Alyssa says Adam, Max says, Bishop Brody says George. The
- 34:22Speaker 2: correct answer is Saxton and Arthur or Art Randall got
- 34:27Speaker 2: that one right. Doctor Saxton, Pope, and Art Young have
- 34:34Speaker 2: been called the fathers of bow hunting. They learned archery
- 34:37Speaker 2: from a man named Ishi, the last known survivor of
- 34:41Speaker 2: the Yanna tribe in California. Is she taught them how
- 34:44Speaker 2: to stock and kill game using obsidian arrow points. Hoping
- 34:48Speaker 2: Young was created in nineteen sixty one, which is a
- 34:51Speaker 2: few decades after Saxton and Art died.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's a great factoid. Which one the issue?
- 34:57Speaker 4: Yeah? The issue?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Did you know about issue? I did, Randall. I actually
- 35:02Speaker 1: spent when we were down in Mexico. We spent like
- 35:06Speaker 1: a good twenty minutes. Try to remember the name issue. Okay,
- 35:10Speaker 1: but I did come up with it then too, just
- 35:12Speaker 1: like Annie Pasto. And here you are now at the
- 35:15Speaker 1: Perfect Game. I think our first perfect.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Might want to pay attention to bear Grease over the
- 35:20Speaker 5: next few months.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Oh why is that?
- 35:21Speaker 2: Riva say?
- 35:23Speaker 1: It's a really fascinating story.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Okay, Randall has the perfect Game. I think the first
- 35:28Speaker 2: perfect Game of twenty twenty five. That means Meat Eater
- 35:32Speaker 2: is going to double its donation from five hundred dollars
- 35:34Speaker 2: to one thousand today. Where is that money going?
- 35:37Speaker 1: Let's send that money to the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership TRCP.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Getting one thousand dollars from Mediater and Randall. We've been
- 35:46Speaker 2: on an overtime drought again this year. I think we've
- 35:50Speaker 2: had zero of them in twenty twenty five.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Well, not complaining. We didn't go to overtime this this round,
- 35:57Speaker 1: so it was like, yeah, let's.
- 35:58Speaker 4: Keep it that way.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Wins with ten, Brody right behind him with nine. That's
- 36:02Speaker 2: it for this week's game of Meat Eater Trivia. Join
- 36:04Speaker 2: us next week for more Meat Eater Trivia, the only
- 36:07Speaker 2: game show where conservation always wins.
- 36:10Speaker 7: Spencer, Yeah, Spencer from South Dakota. He's the host, using
- 36:16Speaker 7: those smooth mellow tones. He lays them questions down, and
- 36:25Speaker 7: he likes taking those two and three year old bucks.
- 36:30Speaker 7: It is an avid amateur
- 36:33Speaker 5: Lock
