Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome out once again to another edition
- 0:05Speaker 1: of the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. It is our sixth episode.
- 0:10Speaker 1: The rosters are final in the NFL, which means only
- 0:15Speaker 1: one thing is possible. We're one week away from the
- 0:19Speaker 1: regular season and the hype is real for every team
- 0:24Speaker 1: in the NFL because now these games mean something. And
- 0:29Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, I am once again, Talon Master Jay,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and I'm being joined by my two guys, Supernova and Brandon. Gentlemen,
- 0:37Speaker 1: what is going on today? How excited are you guys
- 0:42Speaker 1: that we have real football coming up?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Hell-a-frickin'-lujah. This offseason has been both... infuriating and boring at
- 0:57Speaker 2: the same time and i'll exacerbate on.
- 0:59Speaker 1: That one a little later and nova how about you uh.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Well by the time of this recording i had an
- 1:08Speaker 3: earthquake this morning let's start.
- 1:10Speaker 1: That off oh my goodness now first things first are
- 1:14Speaker 1: you okay.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Yeah i was only at 3.4 but it woke me
- 1:18Speaker 3: up and it did not allow me to sleep again
- 1:19Speaker 3: i have sleep issues.
- 1:22Speaker 1: Uh brandon i think it's safe to say we all
- 1:25Speaker 1: have sleep issues and i mean nova's in college truth
- 1:29Speaker 1: i mean nova's in college so he already knows the
- 1:31Speaker 1: first rule of sleep that they teach you in college
- 1:35Speaker 1: uh sleep it doesn't exist.
- 1:38Speaker 2: As someone else who is also in college i can
- 1:40Speaker 2: attest to.
- 1:40Speaker 1: This and as somebody who uh spent six years in
- 1:45Speaker 1: college i can attest to this the only difference The
- 1:49Speaker 1: only difference is that you guys don't have to commute
- 1:53Speaker 1: 40 minutes to college.
- 1:55Speaker 2: That's entirely valid, but at the same time, I also
- 1:57Speaker 2: spent the first four years out of high school double
- 2:00Speaker 2: majoring in political science and economics. So that was already
- 2:04Speaker 2: just like team no sleep, and I'm the captain, cheerleader, president,
- 2:07Speaker 2: CEO of the whole freaking nation, apparently. Because that's how
- 2:11Speaker 2: much coffee I had there at that point in time, too.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Hey, you're talking to someone that doesn't even drink coffee.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. Brandon, he doesn't drink coffee.
- 2:20Speaker 2: He'll learn. He'll learn. Okay.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I do spend 40 minutes to an hour just to
- 2:27Speaker 3: get to college. Anyway, I would give or take LA traffic,
- 2:30Speaker 3: but at the same time, I'm also doing college. I'm doing,
- 2:32Speaker 3: you know, obvious media work for high school football. And
- 2:36Speaker 3: this coming Saturday, I'm going to be back on commentary
- 2:39Speaker 3: on the alien empire media group, San Bernardino Valley college football.com.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It's going to be returning home and we will have
- 2:45Speaker 3: the broadcast on Saturday and hopefully it doesn't rain.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Now, will that broadcast be live, Nova?
- 2:52Speaker 3: It will be on YouTube. Awesome.
- 2:54Speaker 1: So, ladies and gentlemen, we will have a link in
- 2:57Speaker 1: the description of this video. So when that goes live,
- 3:00Speaker 1: go and check out Supernova doing his high school broadcasting
- 3:04Speaker 1: out there. Weather permitting, of course, because let's face it.
- 3:08Speaker 2: L.A.
- 3:08Speaker 1: May not be Florida and it may not be North Carolina,
- 3:11Speaker 1: but it does get rain. It does get this thing
- 3:14Speaker 1: called rain.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's specifically the El Nino season. And, well, there's
- 3:19Speaker 3: already a hurricane on the Pacific Coast.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Oh, you mean the breeze? Yeah, I mean, you know,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you know, the the super El Nino, the one that's
- 3:26Speaker 1: going to apparently make Florida's average temperatures in winter, supposedly
- 3:33Speaker 1: in the low 70s. I'll believe that when I see it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, but anyway, Saturday, it'll be a junior college football,
- 3:41Speaker 3: San Bernardino Valley College. They came away with a win
- 3:44Speaker 3: against Antelope Valley College in week one, and hopefully they'll
- 3:46Speaker 3: continue to winning ways week two against LA Valley.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Hey, well, let's hope for that. Yeah, there's a lot
- 3:54Speaker 1: of valleys out there in the LA school district. I
- 4:00Speaker 1: wonder if there's any in death, Brandon.
- 4:05Speaker 2: That's a very multifaceted question there, but that's a different
- 4:09Speaker 2: philosophical conversation for another day.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go along with the episode. We're grinding too long.
- 4:16Speaker 3: We got a lot to take care of today.
- 4:17Speaker 1: We got a lot to take care of. And before
- 4:20Speaker 1: we get into everything, ladies and gentlemen, I do also
- 4:23Speaker 1: want to throw out for our high school side of things, Nova,
- 4:25Speaker 1: because you are doing your high school and I'm doing
- 4:28Speaker 1: my high school. I want to shout out my high
- 4:30Speaker 1: school that I've been doing the PA announcing for. Their
- 4:32Speaker 1: head coach just got nominated as of the time of
- 4:35Speaker 1: this recording for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Coach of the Week.
- 4:40Speaker 1: in the Tampa Bay area. So, so he is, uh,
- 4:45Speaker 1: one of four coaches that if he gets an, if
- 4:48Speaker 1: he gets enough votes, he will earn $ 2, 000 towards the
- 4:53Speaker 1: betterment of his, uh, program. And after you destroy your rivals,
- 4:58Speaker 1: 41 to 13, I think it's safe to say he
- 5:01Speaker 1: should be the winner of this week. But then again,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's high school football. Now, the fun thing, though,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the rival high school, they did just christen a brand-new
- 5:15Speaker 1: turf field. I know, right?
- 5:17Speaker 3: Turf in Florida?
- 5:19Speaker 1: Outside? What is going on here? But evidently, it was 41-13.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I did not go to that game because I was
- 5:28Speaker 1: not paying for that ticket.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Isn't that just real?
- 5:34Speaker 1: That is the realest statement, but... Speaking of tickets, ladies
- 5:39Speaker 1: and gentlemen, we do want to have a brief entertainment
- 5:43Speaker 1: segment on today's episode, because as you know, we are
- 5:48Speaker 1: NFL fans. We do a lot of NFL recordings, but
- 5:51Speaker 1: there's something that connects the three of us together outside
- 5:57Speaker 1: of our NFL fandom. And There was some kind of
- 6:01Speaker 1: an event, Brandon. There was some kind of an event.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think it was in San Francisco, something like that.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Something like that. Something over the last weekend. It was
- 6:14Speaker 1: like a really big event. Nova, what's this event I'm
- 6:22Speaker 1: thinking of? It's on the top of my head.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Well, I'm very happy Brandon didn't mention it because that
- 6:27Speaker 3: would have been such a meme of the century. But
- 6:30Speaker 3: because we don't get to mention it, it's the Pokemon
- 6:32Speaker 3: World Championships.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yes, it was the Pokemon World Championships, ladies and gentlemen.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The three of your wonderful hosts on this podcast, we
- 6:42Speaker 1: are all Pokemon fans as well. And because we were
- 6:47Speaker 1: watching the World Championships with bated breath, This year, we
- 6:50Speaker 1: wanted to just briefly talk about the finals of the
- 6:54Speaker 1: Pokemon World Championship because for the first time ever in
- 6:58Speaker 1: that franchise's history, they were in an NBA arena for
- 7:04Speaker 1: their World Championship finals. They held every one of their
- 7:09Speaker 1: finals in the Chase Center, the home of the Golden
- 7:12Speaker 1: State Warriors. Now, Nova... As people will see, you do
- 7:17Speaker 1: have your Anaheim Worlds jersey on right now. But I
- 7:22Speaker 1: think it's safe to say for all three of us,
- 7:25Speaker 1: if you would have told any of us, let's say
- 7:28Speaker 1: 10 years ago, because it was the last time they
- 7:30Speaker 1: were in San Francisco, if somebody would have told you
- 7:33Speaker 1: 10 years ago, hey, Pokemon's going to go into an
- 7:36Speaker 1: NBA arena, what would you guys have said to that person?
- 7:42Speaker 3: Well, I would have been saying, well, you're hoping for
- 7:44Speaker 3: something big to happen. to the franchise, you know, you
- 7:48Speaker 3: had to like accommodate to like the popularity of the
- 7:50Speaker 3: competitive video game circuit for the time, because around 2016, 2017,
- 7:53Speaker 3: that was actually when I first got into VGC as
- 7:58Speaker 3: a whole, you know, it wasn't as popular as it is.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I mean, Pokemon as a franchise is still popular, but
- 8:03Speaker 3: I think with modernity comes even more popularity and, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 3: more people get into the franchise and that's when you
- 8:10Speaker 3: get the big boom. And, you know, I was the
- 8:11Speaker 3: first recipient of the big boom when the, world championships
- 8:14Speaker 3: returned to anaheim last year in 2025 and held worlds
- 8:18Speaker 3: inside an arena but it wasn't an arena that was
- 8:22Speaker 3: like you know in the caliber level the chase center
- 8:25Speaker 3: which it was just like a convention center arena but
- 8:26Speaker 3: it was still historical and i still have my pictures
- 8:29Speaker 3: from it which i'm probably going to be sharing with
- 8:32Speaker 3: you guys behind the scenes but to go from a
- 8:35Speaker 3: convention center arena to the chase center i think that's
- 8:39Speaker 3: like the biggest jump i've ever heard and Pokemon knew
- 8:42Speaker 3: what they were doing as soon as they saw the
- 8:43Speaker 3: success in Anaheim.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Exactly. To kind of piggyback off of that, because of
- 8:52Speaker 2: what they did last year for Anaheim's Worlds and the
- 8:56Speaker 2: fact that they modeled their layout to that of an arena,
- 9:01Speaker 2: I think they already had the precursor of an idea of, hey,
- 9:04Speaker 2: this is going to be in the Chase Center next year,
- 9:06Speaker 2: which is why they announced Anaheim and San Francisco as
- 9:11Speaker 2: simultaneous announcements. So the fact that they had such a
- 9:15Speaker 2: very large success and a very resounding, you know, hey,
- 9:20Speaker 2: look at this, I absolutely love this, from what's supposed
- 9:24Speaker 2: to resemble an arena to actually being in an arena,
- 9:28Speaker 2: arguably of one of the more modern-day popular NBA dynasties
- 9:32Speaker 2: in the sport, you know, says a lot to the
- 9:36Speaker 2: accomplishment into the popularity explosion to that recently of the
- 9:40Speaker 2: Pokemon franchise. Yeah.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I mean, there's been a massive explosion of the franchise.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I mean, and now they're going to Singapore next year.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Are you guys going to make the 19 hour flight? Yeah.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, absolutely not. Yeah. I'm not going to Singapore.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Unless i somehow go to san diego and win the
- 10:01Speaker 3: regional it's not.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Happening yeah that would be me with atlanta or uh
- 10:09Speaker 4: maybe get in top four at chicago for naic but
- 10:14Speaker 4: I mean, it was incredible to see and the layout
- 10:17Speaker 4: that they had for the chase center.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say we saw how it
- 10:22Speaker 1: was last year with how you said Nova, you were
- 10:26Speaker 1: there at that convention center arena. Did you like the
- 10:31Speaker 1: presentation of the arena itself? And what do you think
- 10:36Speaker 1: was better about the chase centers arena?
- 10:39Speaker 3: I mean, I definitely will see the only negative I
- 10:41Speaker 3: found was the people reporting that there was the, People
- 10:45Speaker 3: saying that they were sold out in space, and then
- 10:47Speaker 3: you notice there was still open space in the arena,
- 10:49Speaker 3: which I think was the only negative I found from
- 10:52Speaker 3: the Anaheim Conventions Center arena. But otherwise, I did enjoy
- 10:56Speaker 3: the presentation. I did get to see Giovanni Schiske win
- 11:00Speaker 3: with Karidon and Lunala, which was... Call it shocking how
- 11:04Speaker 3: you will, because Karidon took a surprising turn for Worlds.
- 11:08Speaker 3: But from going to... Well, it seemed to me it
- 11:11Speaker 3: looked like empty space from social media complaints to... hardly
- 11:14Speaker 3: any wasted space in the Chase Center. Fast improvement.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, very vast improvement from the Chase Center. I'm looking
- 11:24Speaker 1: forward to what happens next season, but I do want
- 11:29Speaker 1: to end this little entertainment discussion with a very honest
- 11:34Speaker 1: question to the two of you guys. If Pokemon comes
- 11:38Speaker 1: back to the U.S., in 2028, we know worlds in
- 11:42Speaker 1: 27 is going to be in Singapore, but if they
- 11:45Speaker 1: come back in 28 and they were going to do
- 11:49Speaker 1: an NFL arena or an NFL stadium for the world
- 11:53Speaker 1: championship finals, which stadium would you want them to go to?
- 12:00Speaker 3: I have the obvious answer. We just stadium, Las Vegas.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:05Speaker 2: With, I, um, It'd have to be an indoor stadium
- 12:11Speaker 2: of some kind because you have your pick of them, obviously.
- 12:16Speaker 2: But as long as it's in an indoor stadium, I
- 12:19Speaker 2: think that would be something to take consideration of. Sending
- 12:23Speaker 2: them to the black hole is crazy.
- 12:25Speaker 3: I mean, come on. Are you not seeing the popularity
- 12:30Speaker 3: since Las Vegas?
- 12:31Speaker 2: It's not. I was going to say it's not improbable
- 12:34Speaker 2: because they hold regional. They start holding regionals in Vegas
- 12:37Speaker 2: every year now so far. And that doesn't do anything
- 12:40Speaker 2: but attest to the popularity of it because, you know,
- 12:44Speaker 2: and to kind of, you know, to kind of wrap
- 12:45Speaker 2: up our little nerd tangent here before we get into
- 12:48Speaker 2: the actual point of the podcast, you know, I played,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you know, magic competitively for over a decade and, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 2: it wasn't up until toward the tail end of everything
- 12:58Speaker 2: that they started getting these bigger venues and hosting events
- 13:01Speaker 2: in Vegas themselves. And even so, even still as Vegas
- 13:05Speaker 2: convention centers still filled up relatively quickly, So to have
- 13:10Speaker 2: one franchise that's been in existence for longer than something
- 13:13Speaker 2: like Pokemon has kind of really takes value to be like, hey,
- 13:17Speaker 2: look at where everything's going lately.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's definitely fair, Brandon. And I mean, at
- 13:23Speaker 1: least for me, I mean, naturally, I would say go
- 13:26Speaker 1: to Atlanta because you got to be a Mercedes-Benz stadium.
- 13:29Speaker 1: That's biased. I would actually say the stadium that I
- 13:34Speaker 1: say that they should go to I've got two in mind.
- 13:38Speaker 1: The first one is Dallas, because you think that Jerry
- 13:44Speaker 1: Jones wouldn't be able to milk that kind of exposure,
- 13:49Speaker 1: even though he'll be in Irvine while Pokemon is in Dallas.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You don't think he'll find a way to make some
- 13:57Speaker 1: money off of that? Like, that's the first thing. Plus,
- 13:59Speaker 1: I mean, the World Finals on that Jumbotron is... Like,
- 14:05Speaker 1: you want to talk about Jumbotron beyond Jumbotron? That is
- 14:09Speaker 1: the definition of a Jumbotron. Am I wrong?
- 14:14Speaker 2: Unfortunately, no.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Unfortunately, no. The other one that I would like them
- 14:19Speaker 1: to do, if they ever went back to it, the
- 14:23Speaker 1: Titans are scheduled to open up their new stadium in
- 14:27Speaker 1: Nashville in February. I would love for them to go
- 14:32Speaker 1: back to Nashville and have the finals in Nissan Stadium.
- 14:37Speaker 3: The new one or the old one? Because remember, the
- 14:39Speaker 3: old stadium is called Nissan Stadium as well.
- 14:41Speaker 1: The new Nissan Stadium that's opening up in February. Because
- 14:45Speaker 1: that one's going to be a dome. It's going to
- 14:48Speaker 1: be enclosed and everything.
- 14:50Speaker 2: So.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I would say go to that stadium because then you
- 14:54Speaker 1: could still have the, uh, world championships up until the
- 14:58Speaker 1: finals had that in the convention center. And if you
- 15:03Speaker 1: want to do Pokemon XP, Pokemon XP on Broadway, huh? Anyone?
- 15:09Speaker 1: I mean, we, we, we already have, we already have
- 15:13Speaker 1: a cow girl in a kit for Pokemon champions. So
- 15:18Speaker 1: why not?
- 15:20Speaker 2: I mean, at least any sort of world champs would
- 15:23Speaker 2: perform better than the Titans have lately.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Technically, we could say that.
- 15:30Speaker 2: If you're going to hold it in Nashville, at least
- 15:32Speaker 2: hold it true to it.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I mean, hey, we could say the same with Dallas
- 15:35Speaker 1: and the Cowboys.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 15:39Speaker 2: I say that about them every year, though.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we do say that about them every year.
- 15:45Speaker 2: But.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Let's segue on, ladies and gentlemen, because we are going
- 15:51Speaker 1: to talk very briefly about week three of the NFL preseason. Because,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean, if we're going to be completely honest, guys,
- 16:00Speaker 1: I think I speak for all of us when I
- 16:02Speaker 1: say this. Does anybody really care about the final week
- 16:06Speaker 1: of the preseason?
- 16:07Speaker 3: I mean, yes, to a degree. Oh, I see we
- 16:12Speaker 3: have the answers, huh?
- 16:14Speaker 2: We'll see. We kind of, we do have different answers.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And for what we discussed in a pre-show, you know,
- 16:18Speaker 2: before we actually started recording, you know, for, for the Patriots,
- 16:22Speaker 2: it was just kind of, I guess I'll just go
- 16:23Speaker 2: ahead and tackle this one while we're at it. I'm
- 16:27Speaker 2: just going to go and throw this out there. This
- 16:29Speaker 2: was Cleveland's Superbowl. This was Cleveland's Superbowl. If you're going
- 16:36Speaker 2: to try to play against the Patriots who are playing
- 16:39Speaker 2: third and fourth string players, occasionally throwing out baron morton
- 16:42Speaker 2: there just to see what he does because of his
- 16:44Speaker 2: prior week's performance and you have dylan gabriel go 12
- 16:47Speaker 2: for 15 186 and three scores you know that's that's
- 16:51Speaker 2: that's your shining moment i'm already saying there that that's
- 16:55Speaker 2: that probably would have been a better choice than nashawn
- 16:57Speaker 2: watson at quarterback but hey thank god cleveland finally had
- 17:00Speaker 2: their super bowl on week three of the preseason.
- 17:04Speaker 3: And nobody showed up.
- 17:06Speaker 1: And in all fairness, much like the video I saw,
- 17:10Speaker 1: because I don't know if you guys are fans of him,
- 17:12Speaker 1: but I like Tom Grassi's videos.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I do too.
- 17:18Speaker 1: I loved the one, the most recent one, it was
- 17:21Speaker 1: being a Cleveland Browns fan in 2026, where.
- 17:25Speaker 1: The guy gets fired on the phone. Then he walks
- 17:29Speaker 1: in and he stubs his toe on the door. Then
- 17:32Speaker 1: he gets told by the news. In other news, the
- 17:35Speaker 1: food you are eating is being recalled. Yes, you, that
- 17:38Speaker 1: food right there. In other news, Nick Chubb is retiring.
- 17:43Speaker 1: In other news, Deshaun Watson has been named the starting
- 17:46Speaker 1: quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. All right.
- 17:51Speaker 2: You want to go ahead and open that bag for worms.
- 17:52Speaker 2: We'll go ahead and talk about that one. Get that
- 17:54Speaker 2: one out of the way. I said last week, Deshaun
- 17:57Speaker 2: Watson should have never seen another snap in the fucking NFL.
- 18:00Speaker 2: And then at turnaround that same week, he turns around
- 18:03Speaker 2: and talks about how much his fans hate him, how
- 18:06Speaker 2: much they cheered him on whenever he tore his ACL
- 18:10Speaker 2: on that same field. And then you're going to turn
- 18:12Speaker 2: around and be like, oh, I'm QB1 now? Oh, well,
- 18:15Speaker 2: I guess I should have had those comments then, huh?
- 18:18Speaker 2: That man should have never seen a lot of day
- 18:19Speaker 2: on another NFL field, much less the CFL.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I was going to say, literally the day after we
- 18:24Speaker 3: recorded that episode, he got named a starter, and Talon
- 18:27Speaker 3: had the best reaction to it.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I had the best reaction. I was like, you have
- 18:33Speaker 1: got to be fucking kidding.
- 18:35Speaker 3: And I called it, too. I called it, too.
- 18:38Speaker 2: And absolutely insane behavior. I hope that franchise goes 0-17
- 18:43Speaker 2: for the next 10 years because of this.
- 18:45Speaker 3: So there's going to be two 0-17s, huh? Sure, why not?
- 18:51Speaker 3: I mean, I need to check that right now.
- 18:57Speaker 1: I mean, the fun thing.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I think we have the same train of thought.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You guys probably do have the same train of thought.
- 19:03Speaker 1: And I don't know if you guys saw this information.
- 19:05Speaker 3: No, they don't. They don't play each other. They don't
- 19:07Speaker 3: play each other.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Sweet. There's going to be two 0-17 teams in New
- 19:10Speaker 2: York Giants and the Cleveland Browns.
- 19:16Speaker 1: But I don't know if you guys saw this information
- 19:18Speaker 1: today with Deshaun Watson. Apparently Todd Munkin came out during
- 19:22Speaker 1: a press conference. I think it was yesterday as of
- 19:25Speaker 1: our recording. And he said he has not watched any
- 19:29Speaker 1: of Deshaun Watson's prior 18 starts in Cleveland. And you're
- 19:33Speaker 1: still going to name him the starter after what you
- 19:35Speaker 1: saw in the preseason?
- 19:36Speaker 2: I was going to say, he doesn't need to watch
- 19:38Speaker 2: anything else from his previous 18 starts preseason. All he needs,
- 19:41Speaker 2: that man threw it straight into the ground like he
- 19:43Speaker 2: was avoiding a freight train.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Or maybe it's the fact that he doesn't trust your
- 19:47Speaker 3: nor Dylan Gabriel.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Or maybe he just doesn't have good quarterbacks.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, he's only just thinking Deshaun Watson's the
- 19:58Speaker 3: best of the three.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I mean, it could be. I mean, Brandon, it could
- 20:03Speaker 1: be worse for Cleveland, you know?
- 20:08Speaker 2: You know, You're right. Shador Sanders could have been named
- 20:12Speaker 2: the starter.
- 20:12Speaker 1: That probably would have been better. Oh, see, Nova, I
- 20:19Speaker 1: thought I cherry-picked him to make a dig in Atlanta.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I thought about it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: I thought about it.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Yeah, see, I thought I teed him up. Like, I
- 20:28Speaker 1: put the ball on the tee, and I gave Brandon
- 20:30Speaker 1: the driver. I'm his caddy, and, well, he hooked it
- 20:34Speaker 1: into the woods there.
- 20:36Speaker 2: No, no, I just resisted the intrusive thoughts that happened there.
- 20:40Speaker 2: We'll get to them later. It's fine.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Oh, we'll get to them later.
- 20:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:45Speaker 1: That's what we like to hear. Outside of that game, because, again,
- 20:52Speaker 1: Brandon was very excited about that with the Super Bowl
- 20:56Speaker 1: for the Cleveland Browns. Gee, I don't know. Which preseason
- 21:02Speaker 1: game from Thursday night do you guys want to talk about?
- 21:06Speaker 3: Wait. No, mine's on Friday.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Don't give me my pick.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Never mind.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Um, I don't know. Maybe Rams charges, I guess.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Why not? Let's talk about the battle for LA and
- 21:21Speaker 1: why the Rams are essentially the team to beat because
- 21:27Speaker 1: they went, they went undefeated in the preseason Superbowl champs
- 21:31Speaker 1: inbound for the Rams.
- 21:34Speaker 2: So I would like to go ahead and preface this
- 21:36Speaker 2: by saying that as of the recording of this episode,
- 21:39Speaker 2: the Rams have opened up the favorite at the start
- 21:42Speaker 2: of the season to win the Super Bowl this year.
- 21:46Speaker 2: That is L.A. favorites, or Vegas favorites, rather, I should say.
- 21:51Speaker 2: But then, another interesting statistic to that is that every
- 21:56Speaker 2: year for the last 20 seasons that a team has
- 22:01Speaker 2: opened up as preseason favorites to win the Super Bowl,
- 22:04Speaker 2: they don't make it.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And what was the last scene with Dunso in terms of, like, betting?
- 22:14Speaker 3: Modern betting.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Oh, if you hadn't told me earlier, I could have
- 22:18Speaker 2: told you, but now I gotta look it back up again.
- 22:19Speaker 3: While we do that, we wasn't supposed to talk about
- 22:26Speaker 3: this game under the fact that Justin Herbert does look
- 22:29Speaker 3: a little concerning, but I think he made it up
- 22:32Speaker 3: with that deep pass to Quentin Johnston, and the Rams,
- 22:35Speaker 3: I mean, they obviously look fine. I do have a
- 22:39Speaker 3: bit more concern for the Chargers, though, after that game.
- 22:43Speaker 4: I mean.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I don't really put a lot of... Sorry, Tal, I
- 22:46Speaker 2: didn't mean to cut you off, Bob. I don't really
- 22:49Speaker 2: think putting Herbert in a lot of things there, because
- 22:51Speaker 2: he only attempted three passes.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah, again, that one deep ball to Quentin Johnson was
- 22:55Speaker 3: the best one. Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah, and DJ... Whatever the last name is that I'm... Yagalele? Sure,
- 23:05Speaker 1: let's go with that.
- 23:07Speaker 3: That's literally his last name. You don't want to try
- 23:09Speaker 3: to pronounce it.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I am going to take your word for it.
- 23:13Speaker 1: I am going to butcher it so bad that I
- 23:15Speaker 1: don't even want to try and pronounce it. But I mean,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I guess 11 of 18, a buck 41. And apparently
- 23:24Speaker 1: Ty Simpson played well enough in this game that Dan
- 23:29Speaker 1: Orlovsky tried saying that the Falcons should trade for Stetson Bennett.
- 23:34Speaker 2: They should.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Obviously over Cooper Rush.
- 23:38Speaker 2: They should.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I'll take Jack Strand over Cooper Rush.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Try to trade for Ty Simpson with the way he's
- 23:46Speaker 2: been playing. Oh, man.
- 23:49Speaker 1: It appears as though quarterback play is not good in
- 23:54Speaker 1: a lot of locations right now to the point where
- 23:57Speaker 1: everybody needs a quarterback unless you are the Patriots, the Ravens,
- 24:03Speaker 1: the Rams.
- 24:05Speaker 3: The Seahawks.
- 24:06Speaker 1: The Seahawks. The Vikings. I mean, technically the Steelers, but
- 24:12Speaker 1: the Steelers might have their answer.
- 24:17Speaker 2: 49ers. Raiders.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Bengals have some. There's a lot of teams with quarterbacks,
- 24:23Speaker 1: and there's a lot of teams without quarterbacks.
- 24:25Speaker 3: The Bills and the Chiefs are the next two.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah. note the afc east fan just nearly vomited because
- 24:38Speaker 1: you said a team in his division with a quarterback.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Actually let me bring in some brandon hate as well
- 24:43Speaker 3: because i want to join in on this hate everyone's
- 24:45Speaker 3: saying the bills have the bills fans are just like
- 24:49Speaker 3: milking to josh allen constant saying that everyone else is
- 24:52Speaker 3: saying josh allen's best quarterback and come on he could
- 24:56Speaker 3: be the best quarterback but he's prone to making mistakes
- 24:58Speaker 3: i mean did you not see his last game against denver.
- 25:01Speaker 1: But then again, in all fairness, that was Denver's defense,
- 25:03Speaker 1: and Denver's defense was very good.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Correct.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Brandon can agree to me that I
- 25:10Speaker 3: don't think Josh Allen was the best quarterback in the league.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I mean, sure, he was the best quarterback last year,
- 25:16Speaker 3: but there's definitely better. He's like top five for sure.
- 25:19Speaker 3: He's not the top one. Well, you may be right.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Counting your chickens there on Friday no because I don't
- 25:29Speaker 1: I mean has Josh Allen been revealed yet on the
- 25:32Speaker 1: NFL top 100 I don't think he has.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Right no and pretty much everyone's saying he's gonna be
- 25:37Speaker 3: number one yeah.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Because Bajon was just named today at number three.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So yeah Bajon's number three yeah.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I believe they only have two and one.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Left yeah there's two and one left.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and Stafford.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Because Bijon was three. Yeah, Stafford was four.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Thank you for bringing up Matthew Stafford. You're going to
- 26:01Speaker 3: say his MVP doesn't count because Josh Allen's the better quarterback? Wait, what?
- 26:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's definitely an option there. Also, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: just love the fact that in the top 10 for
- 26:14Speaker 1: the top 100, I just want to point this out here.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Patrick Sertan, no change. from the last time he was
- 26:22Speaker 1: on the top 10. Jameer Gibbs at number nine, up
- 26:26Speaker 1: 18 spots. Micah Parsons at number eight, up 28 slots.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Number seven, Puka Nakua up 34 slots. Number six, Christian
- 26:36Speaker 1: McCaffrey up 67 spots on the top 100. Jackson Smith
- 26:42Speaker 1: and Jigba, not applicable last year, evidently. Stafford at number four,
- 26:51Speaker 1: up 55 spots. And Bajon Robinson at number three, up
- 26:57Speaker 1: 59 spots. You're going to tell me that Bajon was
- 26:59Speaker 1: only the 62nd best player in the NFL last year,
- 27:03Speaker 1: and Matthew Stafford was just barely in the top 60?
- 27:08Speaker 3: Their ranking's going to rank, King, because, well, everyone's subject
- 27:11Speaker 3: to their own opinion. It's just like single-season performance. This
- 27:13Speaker 3: is how you did in that year.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I'm just surprised that JSN wasn't even on the top
- 27:23Speaker 1: 100 last year. That, I think, is the most shocking
- 27:26Speaker 1: part of the top 100.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Wasn't DK Metcalf still on the roster right then?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yes, because JSN was drafted in 2023. Okay, that.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Makes a lot more sense.
- 27:38Speaker 2: At the same time, and also just worth noting that
- 27:41Speaker 2: JSN cracked the top 100 with Sam Darnold as his QB.
- 27:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a pretty good quarterback.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I mean, he's a Super Bowl champion. He's done something
- 27:51Speaker 1: that the Jets haven't been able to do since Joe Namath.
- 27:57Speaker 2: God. Jets are going to do it. Speaking of, there's
- 28:04Speaker 2: a what?
- 28:05Speaker 1: There's a reason their team acronym is Just End the Season.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Speaking of the last time, speaking of Super Bowl runs
- 28:17Speaker 2: and whatnot, to answer our earlier question, and this is
- 28:22Speaker 2: a very painful answer, the last team to enter the
- 28:30Speaker 2: preseason as favorites to win the Super Bowl and made
- 28:34Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, won the Super Bowl, but made it,
- 28:41Speaker 2: was 2007 when the Giants beat the Patriots 17-14. Yeah,
- 28:49Speaker 2: because I got to looking at that one. I was like, oh, man.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Gee, Nova, I wonder why Brandon would be all dejected
- 28:57Speaker 1: reading that stat.
- 28:59Speaker 3: I mean, that roster was stacked. What can I say?
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Anyway, what's the next game?
- 29:10Speaker 2: Anyway, heartbreak. Enough of that one. Thanks for that. Appreciate y'all.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Led me to my old doom, apparently. I'm going to
- 29:17Speaker 2: spiral the rest of the night.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I didn't ask that to target you. I just wanted
- 29:20Speaker 3: to ask for a stat.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I don't know, man. I think you had it out
- 29:23Speaker 2: for me.
- 29:23Speaker 3: I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. If I did, I
- 29:25Speaker 3: would have went harder.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I might as well rip the band-aid
- 29:30Speaker 1: off on this one because we spoke about a game
- 29:34Speaker 1: to monitor on Thursday for the preseason. Why don't we
- 29:37Speaker 1: go to the Friday and rip the band off that
- 29:41Speaker 1: was Atlanta beating the Miami Dolphins but let's let's just
- 29:46Speaker 1: be real on something did the Falcons really win or
- 29:50Speaker 1: did the Dolphins just decide okay you're here we'll give
- 29:56Speaker 1: you the points we'll give you the win like Was
- 29:59Speaker 1: there really anything significant about this game?
- 30:04Speaker 2: The only thing that was– sorry. Yeah, Tua says 7
- 30:09Speaker 2: of 8, 95 yards.
- 30:11Speaker 1: That's all right. Okay, 7 of 8, 95 yards. Kyle
- 30:17Speaker 1: Pitts with a nice 37-yard screen pass where people were like, oh,
- 30:21Speaker 1: my God, Kyle Pitts looks slow now. What happened to
- 30:24Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts?
- 30:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:29Speaker 1: What else happened in that game?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 30:32Speaker 1: James Pierce had back-to-back sacks, and now we won't see
- 30:36Speaker 1: him for eight weeks.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yep.
- 30:39Speaker 2: What were you alluding to, Brandon? What?
- 30:43Speaker 3: What were you alluding to before we got to a thing?
- 30:47Speaker 2: So the whole speaking of to a thing, all I'm
- 30:49Speaker 2: saying is the man had more likes on his Instagram post, apparently,
- 30:52Speaker 2: than he did passing yards in a game.
- 30:56Speaker 1: How is that even physically possible, Brandon?
- 31:00Speaker 2: Because when you use a burner account to comment on
- 31:03Speaker 2: your own picture to hype yourself up, it kind of
- 31:08Speaker 2: gains a little bit of traction, apparently. It kind of
- 31:10Speaker 2: makes the news.
- 31:13Speaker 1: If you guys can't hear that, that is me banging
- 31:17Speaker 1: my head on the microphone.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Just, why? Why? Like, I'm just saying, I think Tua's
- 31:24Speaker 2: brains are just grits at this point.
- 31:30Speaker 1: At this point, I'm just like, why?
- 31:32Speaker 2: Why?
- 31:33Speaker 1: Why?
- 31:34Speaker 3: I was at.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Work and someone started talking about that. And I was like,
- 31:40Speaker 2: you cannot make this up. Please show me. And they
- 31:43Speaker 2: pulled it up and sure as hell enough, he's commenting
- 31:46Speaker 2: on his own picture. On Instagram, under his own account.
- 31:50Speaker 1: You've got this!
- 31:51Speaker 2: We're so proud of you! Who is we, Tua? Do
- 31:54Speaker 2: you suddenly have multiple personality disorder? Are you suddenly schizophrenic?
- 31:59Speaker 2: Do you have CTE? What has happened here? This is
- 32:04Speaker 2: a Kevin Durant situation all over again, except with a
- 32:06Speaker 2: worse player.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I actually think Kevin Durant's worse than Tua.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I could agree with that. Look, all I can say
- 32:18Speaker 1: about that decision, about what happened with that is at
- 32:23Speaker 1: least Tua didn't fumble the ball in the preseason game, right?
- 32:27Speaker 3: That's always a positive.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Are you sure?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Oh, don't tell me you're alluding to that.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Are you sure about that? Oh, no. Because he definitely
- 32:39Speaker 2: fumbled the ball and he lost the fumble.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Oh, Christ on a cracker.
- 32:50Speaker 2: And Brian Robinson Jr. Both fumbled.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Well, running back is different than the quarterback, but he
- 33:02Speaker 1: fumbles again. He evidently doesn't know the meaning of the
- 33:09Speaker 1: phrase burner account.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Bro's asking for Michael Penning so bad.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Man's got butter fingers. He's got cheese grits for brains. Like,
- 33:19Speaker 2: I don't know what more you could want out of
- 33:21Speaker 2: a quarterback, honestly.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I mean, if you ask my brother, Atlanta should take
- 33:28Speaker 1: Will Levis because apparently Will Levis is the same as
- 33:32Speaker 1: Michael Penix.
- 33:34Speaker 3: In what way?
- 33:37Speaker 1: Stats, win-loss record, the fact that Penix has the same
- 33:42Speaker 1: record as Levis, but Levis had far worse talent. Um,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and according to my brother, Michael Penix is a bum.
- 33:51Speaker 1: He's not good.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Wait, hold on.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 33:55Speaker 2: He's wrong.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Does it have more starts than Penix?
- 33:59Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:00Speaker 1: And that was another reason. Uh, Like, Levis has more starts.
- 34:05Speaker 1: He had Derrick Henry for a while. Granted, it was
- 34:08Speaker 1: one year, but he still had Derrick Henry. He's had
- 34:12Speaker 1: whatever was originally the remnants of Calvin Ridley. But, you know,
- 34:18Speaker 1: Ridley has slowly turned the corner to where he could
- 34:22Speaker 1: be serviceable. But, yeah, no. Will Levis, not a good quarterback.
- 34:29Speaker 2: And I....
- 34:31Speaker 1: Was not a fan of my brother's take right there.
- 34:35Speaker 1: When he said that about Levis and panic, he actually
- 34:38Speaker 1: said that if Levis was in Atlanta, Levis could be
- 34:42Speaker 1: the starting quarterback.
- 34:46Speaker 3: I'm going to hold on that one because of Jack Strand, obviously.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:50Speaker 1: Shout out to Minnesota state more head for this guy.
- 34:58Speaker 3: And I look, If he comes to Atlanta as hero,
- 35:03Speaker 3: I'm going to be genuinely surprised.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Look, I don't think he's going to start a game
- 35:08Speaker 1: for Atlanta. I really don't think that's going to happen.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But what I will say is the way that he played,
- 35:19Speaker 1: his decisiveness, his accuracy for the most part was pretty good.
- 35:25Speaker 1: But I am sticking... with number nine as the quarterback
- 35:30Speaker 1: because number nine, a.k.a. Michael Penix Jr., a.k.a. Mr. I
- 35:39Speaker 1: Have No Knees, a cough, Brandon.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Look, I'm just saying, you're going to be in for
- 35:46Speaker 2: a real rude awakening when Tua gets named QB1 by
- 35:49Speaker 2: some miracle of God in Congress. Well.
- 35:54Speaker 1: It still doesn't change my prediction for week one, which
- 35:59Speaker 1: I will reveal that decision during episode seven when we
- 36:05Speaker 1: discuss week one predictions and why certain things will happen
- 36:11Speaker 1: certain ways.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Okay, so sorry. I know I keep derailing y'all, and
- 36:17Speaker 2: I really apologize tonight. I'm just kind of into it tonight.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I'm over here looking at Pinnix and Levis, and honestly,
- 36:24Speaker 2: I kind of got a side with your brother here.
- 36:27Speaker 2: I'm sitting over here flipping through their stats on two
- 36:33Speaker 2: different tabs, and honestly, there's not much of a difference.
- 36:36Speaker 2: There's not much of a difference.
- 36:38Speaker 3: No, there is a difference. It's the starts.
- 36:41Speaker 2: I mean, it's the starts, yeah, for sure, but performance-wise,
- 36:45Speaker 2: it's really about the same.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, except Glamis has done it more, which I think
- 36:50Speaker 3: is bad.
- 36:51Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm getting to see your talent's brain
- 37:00Speaker 2: about to explode right now.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Oh no, it's going to explode later on, don't.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Worry. I may be pulling a Red Foreman right now
- 37:10Speaker 1: behind this camera.
- 37:14Speaker 3: I'm the only one with the camera on.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Oh, man. But, yeah, we will talk about Atlanta's roster
- 37:24Speaker 1: in a little bit when we talk about any surprises
- 37:28Speaker 1: to the final rosters on these teams. But I think
- 37:32Speaker 1: it's safe to say that let's move on to a
- 37:36Speaker 1: different game on Friday. Nova, how about them Ravens?
- 37:41Speaker 3: Yeah, another dominating performance by the Ravens and Jesse Minter again.
- 37:44Speaker 3: So once again, the Ravens finished undefeated in the preseason.
- 37:47Speaker 3: They were one of four teams to do so. And
- 37:49Speaker 3: first thing I got to point out, because obviously I
- 37:51Speaker 3: wasn't able to watch that game because of videography work.
- 37:54Speaker 3: So I really don't want to really, there's not even
- 37:57Speaker 3: one of the rare times I don't get to watch
- 37:58Speaker 3: the Ravens. Just, you know, something else took my attention.
- 38:01Speaker 3: But from Kevin Ostreicher on Twitter, in Jesse Minter's first
- 38:05Speaker 3: preseason as the Ravens head coach, Baltimore outscored their opponents 78-13.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Doing a regular season.
- 38:13Speaker 1: And it could have been 84, Brandon.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Guys.
- 38:18Speaker 1: It could have been 84.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Don't remind me. I guess I could have been depended
- 38:22Speaker 3: as well. Tyler Loop. Two missed kicks. Albeit they were
- 38:28Speaker 3: about 50. That's still not good. There's a 51 and
- 38:32Speaker 3: a 58 yarder.
- 38:34Speaker 2: The Ravens have had a historical notion of being able
- 38:38Speaker 2: to kick 50 plus yarders. What do you mean? That's
- 38:41Speaker 2: their thing. We don't talk about them anymore. I'd say
- 38:44Speaker 2: in general. I didn't mention any names.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I don't remember hearing a name. I
- 38:50Speaker 1: just heard 50 plus yard field goals.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I know, and I still miss it because those are
- 38:55Speaker 3: like the same person.
- 38:59Speaker 2: You mean the same guy who's going to be a Jet?
- 39:02Speaker 3: I don't know about that one. But yeah, Tyler Luke
- 39:04Speaker 3: missed 51 and 58. And since preseason, perfect on extra points,
- 39:09Speaker 3: but five for eight on field goals. And he's been
- 39:12Speaker 3: the only negative in the preseason.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Well, I mean, if the only negative is the kicker, Brandon,
- 39:19Speaker 1: I think it's safe to say that, you know, NFL,
- 39:23Speaker 1: I know you guys are at 345 Park Avenue. You
- 39:26Speaker 1: might as well just tell Tiffany's to ship that stuff.
- 39:30Speaker 1: trophy down to Baltimore Maryland I.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Was gonna say they might play hack a shack with
- 39:36Speaker 2: the field goal kicker.
- 39:39Speaker 3: I'm gonna get to that like later because there's definitely
- 39:40Speaker 3: been a roster news for the Ravens and I gotta
- 39:44Speaker 3: tell you on my for you page on social media
- 39:47Speaker 3: on Twitter mostly negative about tyler loop and you're like
- 39:50Speaker 3: why haven't we cut him and i think this is
- 39:54Speaker 3: his make or break here at this rate.
- 39:56Speaker 1: It might even be a make or break mid-season for
- 39:59Speaker 1: tyler loop.
- 40:02Speaker 3: Yeah i feel bad for the fantasy owners that took
- 40:03Speaker 3: tyler loop because uh spoiler alert none of us took him.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Yeah none of us took him on that but moving
- 40:11Speaker 1: on to another preseason game on friday night um let's
- 40:17Speaker 1: see oh we could talk about how the buccaneers got
- 40:20Speaker 1: shut out by the jaguars so in the battle of
- 40:24Speaker 1: florida the cats beat the pirates oh yeah no wait
- 40:32Speaker 1: But actually, no, you know, nobody cares about that.
- 40:35Speaker 2: I mean... Not particularly.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No, we really cared about the Vita Vea extension.
- 40:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't even think he played in that
- 40:45Speaker 1: game on Friday night. And if he did, I didn't
- 40:47Speaker 1: hear anything about it.
- 40:48Speaker 2: He did not. He did not play.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Well, then, yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I mean, you know, you get shut out by the Jaguars,
- 40:58Speaker 1: and now they get ready for a different... type of
- 41:02Speaker 1: cat coming in, what is it? Week one. 11 days,
- 41:08Speaker 1: because they welcome the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Please, Buccaneers, give them the Vida Veya show.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I mean, if they're going to get the Vida Veya show,
- 41:19Speaker 2: they better have their team perform as well as their
- 41:22Speaker 2: punter did, because their punter happened For 10 punts for
- 41:26Speaker 2: 487 yards.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Oh, hell yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 1: Not as good.
- 41:33Speaker 3: As Ryan Eckley, but that's pretty good.
- 41:36Speaker 1: Not as good as Ryan Eckley, but that's always a
- 41:40Speaker 1: good thing. Other action on Friday night. The Carolina Panthers
- 41:47Speaker 1: barely beat the Houston Texans. Apparently, Kyle Trask had almost
- 41:54Speaker 1: 150 yards, but nobody cares about Kyle Trask because he's
- 41:58Speaker 1: not good. I mean, even the University of Florida fans
- 42:01Speaker 1: don't care about him, and they're inclined to like everybody
- 42:04Speaker 1: that comes in and out of their school. They tried
- 42:06Speaker 1: telling me Felipe Franks was going to be the next
- 42:09Speaker 1: big thing.
- 42:10Speaker 3: Cough, cough, Anthony Richardson.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Speaking of hot garbage.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Speaking of hot garbage there, but the Texans 0-3
- 42:22Speaker 1: in the preseason. Should we sound the panic alarm on
- 42:25Speaker 1: CJ Stroud if he doesn't get an extension by week one?
- 42:28Speaker 3: Oh, I actually do have something to report on, ironically.
- 42:32Speaker 3: He said he had a $ 50 million extension, but he
- 42:34Speaker 3: turned it down. I'm sorry.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Like, ugh.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Like, why are you turning down 50 mil?
- 42:46Speaker 3: Because he's betting on himself. He thinks he's 60 million.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Not on your life.
- 42:53Speaker 3: That's why he's betting on himself.
- 42:56Speaker 2: So I looked this up because I didn't believe it myself.
- 42:59Speaker 2: This is the first time hearing of it. And literally
- 43:02Speaker 2: I pulled it up and Google search pops up with
- 43:04Speaker 2: an ESPN Insiders report that the Houston Texans are prepared
- 43:07Speaker 2: to offer a contract exceeding the 50 million per year threshold.
- 43:13Speaker 2: But Stroud is apparently prepared to bet on himself and
- 43:17Speaker 2: play out the 26 season without a new deal.
- 43:22Speaker 1: Oh boy. I mean, I get that he is like
- 43:26Speaker 1: one of, one of, if not the only quarterback that
- 43:29Speaker 1: ever came out of the Ohio state university to actually
- 43:34Speaker 1: be worth a damn in the NFL. But I mean,
- 43:38Speaker 1: the sample size ain't all that great for the Ohio
- 43:41Speaker 1: state university. So, again, I don't see $ 60 million out
- 43:48Speaker 1: of that kid.
- 43:48Speaker 2: I don't see $ 50 million out of him.
- 43:51Speaker 1: We said it with Baker. We don't see $ 50 million
- 43:54Speaker 1: out of Baker.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I think this makes sense for him to do, but
- 44:00Speaker 3: at the same time, that's a big gamble you're risking.
- 44:03Speaker 3: You're risking that. Hey, I can clean up the playoff mistakes.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I can show you guys that I.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Can be better.
- 44:07Speaker 3: And again, this Texans team is really favored to do well,
- 44:10Speaker 3: but the 0-3 in the preseason, I don't think it's
- 44:13Speaker 3: a panic button to sign for mostly the Texans defense.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I think it's a panic sign for the backups.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I mean, if anything, Nova, this is what I'm going
- 44:21Speaker 1: to say about the Texans and C.J. Straub betting on himself.
- 44:24Speaker 1: You really want to bet on yourself with that offensive
- 44:26Speaker 1: line protecting you?
- 44:29Speaker 3: That is a choice, actually. That is a choice.
- 44:31Speaker 2: I mean.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It'd be one thing if he had an offensive line
- 44:36Speaker 1: like Atlanta's offensive line or New England's offensive line or
- 44:42Speaker 1: Chicago's offensive line. If you want to bet on yourself,
- 44:46Speaker 1: then okay. I won't give you any, an argument, but
- 44:49Speaker 1: this is the Texans offensive line. We're talking about here.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Not good. Like, do I need to get the gift
- 44:58Speaker 1: out of not great, Bob?
- 45:01Speaker 2: Not great.
- 45:02Speaker 3: How is that not soundboarded yet?
- 45:05Speaker 2: I mean, so I have to say, to kind of
- 45:08Speaker 2: play off of this, I'm looking at the draft class
- 45:12Speaker 2: for CJ Stroud. And you have to realize the QB
- 45:15Speaker 2: class for 2023 was not great at all. And I
- 45:20Speaker 2: was saying this as somebody who was an Alabama fan
- 45:22Speaker 2: and saw Bryce Young take a number one overall to
- 45:25Speaker 2: the Carolina Panthers. I still, I didn't think he was
- 45:28Speaker 2: great in college. I still don't think he's great now.
- 45:30Speaker 2: And at the same time, Anthony Richardson was in the
- 45:32Speaker 2: same draft class.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:37Speaker 2: I heard the chuckle on that one. Exactly.
- 45:39Speaker 3: It says a lot about that draft class.
- 45:42Speaker 2: It says a lot about that draft class because Anthony
- 45:45Speaker 2: Richardson was number four overall.
- 45:48Speaker 3: What did the cold staff see in him, though?
- 45:51Speaker 2: Apparently they saw him as a comparison to Josh Allen.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what's going on there. But I
- 46:06Speaker 1: can tell you what is going on that also happened
- 46:10Speaker 1: on Friday night. Apparently Josh Johnson helped the Bengals go 3-0,
- 46:18Speaker 1: so might as well be crowning the Bengals King of
- 46:23Speaker 1: the North, right, Brandon?
- 46:24Speaker 2: Ooh, the amount of comments I could make to that
- 46:29Speaker 2: one right now.
- 46:31Speaker 3: You can see this on the camera.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I'll repeat it. I'm actually not even paying attention. I'm
- 46:36Speaker 2: actually not even paying attention. Oh, it was just a
- 46:37Speaker 2: thumbs down. I expected a middle finger, but that's fine, too. No,
- 46:41Speaker 2: I mean... No, the Ravens were definitely the better AFC
- 46:45Speaker 2: North team this preseason for sure. Outside of the kicker position.
- 46:50Speaker 2: But I think that goes without saying.
- 46:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that goes without saying. I think the
- 46:57Speaker 1: only other game on Friday that we really need to
- 46:59Speaker 1: care about. Wait a minute.
- 47:01Speaker 2: I care about two games.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Which game are you caring about on Friday night?
- 47:07Speaker 2: So the game is really kind of a toss up here.
- 47:10Speaker 2: So I'll just kind of pick between the two. The
- 47:13Speaker 2: game that I kind of cared about was Green Bay, Arizona.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Because Green Bay said, hey, here's Kyle McCord. Play this
- 47:22Speaker 2: whole game. Where this kid proceeded to go 22 for 35,
- 47:27Speaker 2: 226 passing yards, four TDs, no picks, and a 119.5 QBR. Okay.
- 47:32Speaker 1: I mean, okay, yeah, that's impressive.
- 47:37Speaker 3: I actually do have something to bring up Friday. A
- 47:40Speaker 3: second tie has occurred into preseason.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Oh, Jesus. Not another one.
- 47:48Speaker 3: Seahawks Chiefs went 9-9. Ugh.
- 47:55Speaker 1: Not again.
- 47:56Speaker 3: And this was apparently Jalen Milrow's tryout.
- 48:01Speaker 1: This was a tryout for Milrow? And he couldn't even
- 48:06Speaker 1: beat the Chiefs backups?
- 48:08Speaker 3: I mean, he didn't lose to them, technically.
- 48:13Speaker 1: No, but, I mean, I'm looking at it, 16-26, 223 yards,
- 48:20Speaker 1: one touchdown, no picks. Meanwhile, Garrett Nussmeier, 22-34, a buck 98,
- 48:27Speaker 1: no touchdowns, one pick. Yeah, really not much to say
- 48:33Speaker 1: about it other than, yeah, we had another tie. But, again,
- 48:37Speaker 1: this is preseason. Does anybody care about these results?
- 48:42Speaker 2: Absolutely. Again, as a Bama fan, I kind of was
- 48:46Speaker 2: hoping Jalen Milrow would actually look better than what he did,
- 48:49Speaker 2: but he just doesn't. He doesn't look good at all.
- 48:54Speaker 3: I also got to bring up a side note, Talon,
- 48:56Speaker 3: since you brought this up weeks ago about the whole
- 49:00Speaker 3: roster number 1D, because I figured that one out. Apparently,
- 49:03Speaker 3: I don't know why this is a thing in the NFL,
- 49:05Speaker 3: but this is a thing in junior college and in
- 49:07Speaker 3: high school, but people can wear the same jersey number
- 49:10Speaker 3: on offense and on defense. I don't know why that is.
- 49:16Speaker 1: I mean, I knew about like the college side of things,
- 49:18Speaker 1: but it was just weird. seeing it in the NFL,
- 49:21Speaker 1: even for preseason with the 90-man rosters. I knew that
- 49:25Speaker 1: they did it in college, that they had, you know,
- 49:28Speaker 1: a number five on offense or a number five on defense. But, yeah,
- 49:34Speaker 1: I mean.
- 49:34Speaker 3: It's just a side note. Nothing really too serious. It's
- 49:36Speaker 3: a little, like, hopefully... clear of the answer that we
- 49:39Speaker 3: never got the answer all that all the time back then.
- 49:42Speaker 1: True you did you did say you were gonna have
- 49:44Speaker 1: that that information for me because you know i'm reading
- 49:47Speaker 1: this stuff and uh i'm just like why like why
- 49:51Speaker 1: does it look like a number 130 or something like that.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Well it says again i'm very much the type of
- 49:58Speaker 2: person that if i don't know the answer to something
- 50:00Speaker 2: i'm gonna look it up And apparently the general consensus
- 50:04Speaker 2: answer is because the rosters are obviously much larger than
- 50:07Speaker 2: the regular season, and there's much less unique numbers to
- 50:13Speaker 2: spread amongst every player. That's apparently just a simple answer.
- 50:18Speaker 2: It's because there's not enough unique numbers to give everybody
- 50:21Speaker 2: on that roster who hits that field.
- 50:23Speaker 3: That actually does make sense.
- 50:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that actually does make sense.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Uh.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Before we wrap up week three of the preseason, guys,
- 50:33Speaker 1: I'm going to ask you this live and then we'll
- 50:36Speaker 1: make this decision now. Do we want to play the
- 50:39Speaker 1: ticket guessing game for week one since we probably won't
- 50:43Speaker 1: have enough time to do it next week?
- 50:46Speaker 3: I mean, if we're doing this for week one, sure.
- 50:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:51Speaker 1: What is the lowest week one get in price?
- 50:58Speaker 2: Ooh, ooh, ooh. I'm looking at the schedule, and I
- 51:00Speaker 2: can already tell you which one it is.
- 51:02Speaker 1: All right, Brandon, make your pick.
- 51:05Speaker 2: I'm over here looking at the schedule. It cannot be
- 51:07Speaker 2: anything else other than New York, Tennessee.
- 51:09Speaker 3: I was going to say the same thing, man.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Okay, so both of you guys are locking in New
- 51:16Speaker 1: York and Tennessee?
- 51:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the Jets and the Titans.
- 51:22Speaker 1: All right. That is for the cheap ticket. What is
- 51:27Speaker 1: the most expensive ticket? I will give you guys this forewarning.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I do not have a ticket price for the 49ers
- 51:36Speaker 1: and Rams because that is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
- 51:40Speaker 2: I think that one's streaming exclusively on Netflix, too. I'm
- 51:45Speaker 2: going to be incredibly biased here. Sorry, was it never?
- 51:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I was actually going to mention, if that game
- 51:52Speaker 3: was in SoFi, I would have said that one for sure,
- 51:54Speaker 3: because you know how Niners fans like to storm from
- 51:56Speaker 3: NorCal to SoCal.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 51:58Speaker 3: But the Netflix thing, I think I might be a
- 52:01Speaker 3: lucky recipient that it will be locally broadcasted because it's
- 52:03Speaker 3: the Rams.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he does have a point, Brandon, because it is
- 52:09Speaker 1: the 49ers and the Rams.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Absolutely. Absolutely. So if that's since that's obviously just going
- 52:16Speaker 2: to be broadcast through a streaming service, What is your
- 52:20Speaker 2: actual pick? I picked the first one, so we'll give
- 52:23Speaker 2: this one to you. I have my answer, but mine
- 52:25Speaker 2: is an incredibly biased answer.
- 52:28Speaker 3: I don't know where my answer stands.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Okay, but before we go with that one, I will
- 52:34Speaker 1: at least just, we'll count out the NFL kickoff game
- 52:38Speaker 1: because again, that's the NFL kickoff game. Naturally, that one's
- 52:42Speaker 1: going to be the most expensive get in price.
- 52:45Speaker 3: Ah, we're going to be like Patriots, Seahawks, great.
- 52:47Speaker 2: I don't even think that really has anything to do
- 52:49Speaker 2: with it. It's literally the rematch of the last year's
- 52:51Speaker 2: Super Bowl. Like, of course, that's going to be the
- 52:53Speaker 2: highest ticket price.
- 52:55Speaker 1: That's fair. I'm just putting it out there that it
- 52:58Speaker 1: is the kickoff game, so it is the most expensive.
- 53:03Speaker 1: But outside of that, what game is the most expensive
- 53:07Speaker 1: get-in ticket?
- 53:09Speaker 3: I'm going to guess Bill's Texans.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Okay, Nova is going Buffalo and Houston.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Give me just a second. I've got to pull this up.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Let's see who I'll play as.
- 53:26Speaker 3: And actually, speaking of Bill's Texans, I wonder how Josh
- 53:29Speaker 3: Allen's going to perform against that Texans defense a second time.
- 53:34Speaker 2: We'll find out. That'll be something to discuss for sure. But, okay,
- 53:40Speaker 2: so here's my thought process. I think, and again, this
- 53:46Speaker 2: is kind of biasly speaking, this is also kind of
- 53:48Speaker 2: playing off of the point of view of the beginning
- 53:52Speaker 2: of the NFL season. the typical point of view of
- 53:55Speaker 2: broadcast journalism. I think that outside of the kickoff game,
- 54:01Speaker 2: the most expensive game is going to be Dallas, New York.
- 54:05Speaker 2: And the only reason that I think that is because
- 54:07Speaker 2: that is the first Sunday night football game.
- 54:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:11Speaker 2: So, so I mean, outside of that, if, if we're
- 54:15Speaker 2: going to, we're going to give that the same treatment
- 54:17Speaker 2: as we do new England, because they're the kickoff game,
- 54:20Speaker 2: then obviously, you know, Dallas, New York being the Sunday
- 54:23Speaker 2: night football game. Those are probably going to be the
- 54:25Speaker 2: top two most popular games of the, of week one.
- 54:28Speaker 2: So if I have to pick outside of that, holding
- 54:30Speaker 2: that same principle, I'm going to go on a left field.
- 54:34Speaker 2: I'm going to go on a left field swing here
- 54:35Speaker 2: and say Miami Vegas as the most expensive game outside
- 54:39Speaker 2: of Dallas, New York.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Okay. So you're locking in the, uh, Dallas and giants.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Uh, Yes, cowgirls giants. All right.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Well, I will tell you guys, and I will use
- 54:58Speaker 1: this sound effect. Because you guys picked the cheapest ticket.
- 55:09Speaker 1: The Jets and Titans tickets as low as $ 24.
- 55:13Speaker 2: You know, that's $ 24 for a week. One game is crazy.
- 55:19Speaker 3: That's actually a steal if you think about it.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Second cheapest is Cardinals at Chargers at only $ 39.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Oh, see, I thought that was more expensive than SoFi,
- 55:29Speaker 3: but whatever.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And then evidently the Ravens at the Colts is $ 47.
- 55:34Speaker 3: Oh, if I could have made that trip to Indianapolis.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I mean, you can. I mean, it's only what? What
- 55:41Speaker 1: do you think, Brandon? A 15-hour drive?
- 55:43Speaker 2: I'm not good with geography, so I'm going to just
- 55:46Speaker 2: say it. I'm still taking your word for it.
- 55:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not doing that.
- 55:51Speaker 1: All right. And for the most expensive ticket, Nova goes Buffalo, Houston.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Brandon goes Dallas and Giants. And that's the closest I
- 56:03Speaker 1: can get to a debt on Brandon's got a Dallas job.
- 56:09Speaker 3: I didn't want to hesitate. I kind of hesitated on
- 56:11Speaker 3: that one because I was thinking, well, I know it's
- 56:13Speaker 3: a Sunday night game, but who really is going to
- 56:14Speaker 3: buy a hardball stocks of the Giants? But then I
- 56:17Speaker 3: got to remember Cowboys. It's the principle of a.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Sunday night game, and it's a Dallas game. But where
- 56:22Speaker 2: is Miami Vegas in comparison to that?
- 56:25Speaker 1: Miami Vegas, $ 251.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Is that the next most expensive one? Uh-huh. What? I
- 56:38Speaker 2: should be all the prices right, man. What?
- 56:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:42Speaker 3: You're ready to tell me an epic clash between the
- 56:44Speaker 3: Bills and the Texans. Is it at least second?
- 56:47Speaker 1: The Bills and Texans is $ 157 to get in.
- 56:52Speaker 3: All right.
- 56:54Speaker 1: And the Packers Vikings would be in third place of
- 56:59Speaker 1: most expensive at $ 224.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I mean, it's a rivalry game, so I guess that
- 57:04Speaker 3: checks out.
- 57:06Speaker 1: I mean, technically Atlanta and Pittsburgh is $ 1. 63 to get in.
- 57:12Speaker 1: And that's Akershire Stadium, which I... Look, Nova, you're a
- 57:16Speaker 1: Ravens fan. I think I speak for maybe Ravens fans
- 57:19Speaker 1: as well on this. How stupid is that name for
- 57:22Speaker 1: the Steelers Stadium?
- 57:24Speaker 3: I mean, why would you take away Heinz? What kind
- 57:27Speaker 3: of sponsorship behind the scenes happened there?
- 57:31Speaker 1: The world may never know.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Politics, I tell you.
- 57:37Speaker 1: Yeah, politics. But we will get on to the week
- 57:42Speaker 1: one predictions next week, ladies and gentlemen. But we are
- 57:46Speaker 1: going to do our preseason before the regular season division rankings.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Because everybody loves rankings around these parts. Am I right? Oh,
- 58:04Speaker 1: come on, crowd.
- 58:06Speaker 3: You did that to yourself. Don't lie.
- 58:08Speaker 1: I know. I just had to be fun with it.
- 58:11Speaker 1: I just had to be fun.
- 58:12Speaker 3: I find your lack of faith disturbing.
- 58:18Speaker 2: Ravens 1, 9, and 8 confirmed.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Oh, hell no.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Let's talk about it guys so we've got eight divisions
- 58:31Speaker 1: let's rank the divisions in terms of who is going
- 58:35Speaker 1: to win them and who is not going to win
- 58:39Speaker 1: them we'll start with the afc east who is winning
- 58:42Speaker 1: that division i.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Know brandon's answer i just trying to figure out mine
- 58:48Speaker 3: because i'm at 50.
- 58:50Speaker 2: 50 yeah my answer is not changing here Yeah, I
- 58:54Speaker 2: don't think my answer is changing either.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Should we just chalk us down for the Patriots?
- 58:59Speaker 2: Patriots, Bills, Dolphins, Jets. In that order.
- 59:05Speaker 3: See, I have the same thing, but I haven't really
- 59:07Speaker 3: just conflicted by the whole Patriots-Bills thing because I see
- 59:11Speaker 3: a lot of Bills you know, they're going to be like,
- 59:13Speaker 3: this is our year. And then everyone's just saying, oh,
- 59:17Speaker 3: everyone on social media is saying the Patriots schedule is tougher,
- 59:19Speaker 3: therefore they're not going to win the division. But like,
- 59:21Speaker 3: how tougher is it?
- 59:23Speaker 1: So Buffalo's becoming the AFC version of the Cowboys is
- 59:26Speaker 1: what you're trying to tell me.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Pretty much. Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
- 59:30Speaker 3: I can't really tell a gauge because I'm pretty sure
- 59:33Speaker 3: the Bills got worse from coaching alone because I'm pretty
- 59:36Speaker 3: sure Brandon Bean's still the problem in the Bills, but
- 59:39Speaker 3: Josh Allen can just go to Josh Allen. I really
- 59:42Speaker 3: just don't know, but I will go Patriots for now,
- 59:45Speaker 3: but I think it'll be rather close.
- 59:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it'll be rather close too, but I'm
- 59:51Speaker 1: going to at least disagree with Brandon on one thing.
- 59:53Speaker 1: I'm going to have the Jets finishing with a better
- 59:55Speaker 1: record than the Dolphins. It's not going to be much better,
- 59:59Speaker 1: but the Dolphins have one of the worst rosters I've
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: ever seen in the history of football. They are going
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: to be lucky to win three games, and they're lucky
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: that I'm giving them three.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Funny how me and Brandon both of the Jets are
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: going to do worse.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised if they
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: finished with the same record, but Miami finishes with a
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: better head-to-head.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: I mean, that's fair. Moving on to AFC North.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: All right, here's another bias lock-in.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Yeah, here's another bias lock-in.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I mean, if this isn't the year the Ravens finally
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: bounce back and win the North, I don't know what
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: to tell you.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: I will go out on a limb here. I will
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: say Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Whoa, you think Pittsburgh's finishing second?
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: I will say in Aaron Rodgers' last season, they will
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: finish in second place in the division. They will be
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a wildcard team.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: Oh, so nothing's changing. Okay.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: No, I don't think they're winning the division. I think
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: it's Baltimore's to lose. But I do think Pittsburgh... As
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: it stands right now, might have a better roster than
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: the Bengals. And again, if it's the last season of
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers in the NFL, I do believe that the
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Steelers are going to play a little bit more motivated.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: They're going to play a little bit more inspired. football
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: because they don't want aaron rogers to go out eliminated
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: in the regular season i will say though that i
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: think pittsburgh's i'm pulling up their schedule right now i
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: would actually say it'll be neck and neck with baltimore
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: up until week 17 i think uh by this generous Well,
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: because week 15, they play the Ravens. They play the
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Ravens two times in the last four weeks. So I'll
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: say Baltimore gets them in week 15 to get that
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: early advantage in the head-to-head. And then it comes down
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: to week 17, like probably Pittsburgh loses that week and
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Baltimore wins. So that way, even if the Steelers split
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the season series with the Ravens, the Ravens win the
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: division on the tiebreakers.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: See, because I'm actually thinking Cincinnati finishes second place. I
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: actually expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to regress. And I do
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: expect the Bengals to at least take advantage of the
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: Steelers' regression. But at the same time, if Joe Berger
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: is hurt again, I can't see your logic.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, again, it's mostly offensive lines for me. Like,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: if you don't have a good offensive line, I'm kind
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: of hesitant to... to trust your total overall output, even
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: if your skill position players are really good or your
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: offensive play caller is really good. If five can't beat four,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: I don't care. You ain't winning.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Hey, thank goodness you're buying some of our stock. We
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: do not have Daniel Paolelli anymore.
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: Yeah, and apparently neither do the Giants.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: We got Vega Ioane now.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Uh, moving on. I watch, you know, Brandon did, what
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: did you say on the AFC North? I, I actually think,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: like you said, it's going to be, uh, Baltimore's division to.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: Lose, but I actually also agree with you in that
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: it's going to be Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland. And the
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: reason that I think that it's not because I think
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: Pittsburgh has a better roster because I think that they're
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: going to play more inspired or anything of that nature,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: but Just because it's Aaron Rodgers' last hurrah, I think
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: it's going to be based purely on the fact of
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: the type of coaching connection that McCarthy and Rodgers already have,
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: especially during this time in Green Bay. So you have,
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: even though he's technically a new head coach to Pittsburgh,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: he's already very familiar with how Aaron Rodgers can play,
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: even at an older age. So I think that alone
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: is going to give them more of a competitive advantage
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: in especially even as a newer head coach to a
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: newer system, to a newer team, even though McCarthy performed
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: very subpar in Dallas, I think, I think his comfortability
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: with Rogers is going to play a lot of key
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: into it. All right. All right.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: I love how y'all unanimously Cleveland in last place.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: No, it's not even up for discussion on Cleveland. Um,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: But I think this might be the first division where
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: we really have a lot of different opinion. The AFC South.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Oh, boy. I am.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: This might be the hopium talking here. I'm going to
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: ride with Indianapolis to win the AFC South.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Look, man, if you want to go ahead and jump
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: to the ruffling the feather segment, you could have just
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: said so.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: I guess we may as well at this point. I
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: was following the random segment.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'm going to ride with Indianapolis to
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: win the South. And then I'm going to have Houston
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: in second, Jacksonville in third, and Tennessee in fourth.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: I have different opinions about this one.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: I have different opinions.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: So I have Houston at first. I have Jacksonville second.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: I still believe in Trevor Lawrence and co with we
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: and co. And I still think that they're going to
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: be strong. I just think the Houston, Texas defense is
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: going to carry. I have India third, but I think
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: they'll be fighting for that final wildcard spot. And then Tennessee,
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: I kind of am assuming you're just going to get
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: five wins and hopefully Robert's solid. It's a nice beginning
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: in Tennessee.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Well, Brandon, what do you got on this division?
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm actually with Nova on this one. I think
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: it's Houston's division to lose. As long as C.J. Stroud
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: doesn't throw four picks in a playoff game again, I
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: think they'll do pretty okay.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Watch that be the reason he doesn't get that contract.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: I absolutely fully believe that, and that's why I mention it.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Because at the end of the day, C.J. Stroud might
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: be betting on himself, and he is a great quarterback.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: He truly is. but his football IQ has not been
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: the best thing in the world lately. That being said,
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: I do think it's going to be Houston, Jacksonville, and Tennessee.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: I think Tennessee is going to be go light. I
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: think they're going to have at least three wins. I
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: don't think they're going to get really anything better than that.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Huh, so you think I'm being generous with five?
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: I think you're being generous with five. I think that
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Tennessee Titans roster is a slightly better comparison to the
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: roster that Miami has.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Oh, absolutely. At least Cam War could be something. But
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: at the same time, there's been recent controversies within the
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: journalism side for Tennessee. Apparently they took away so many
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: reporters' rights.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting. But let's round out the AFC with
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: the West. Who is going to win the West? How
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: will the West be won? Yeah, I think it was
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: safe to say we were all going to pick Denver,
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: aren't we?
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Um, I hear everyone on social media that it's going
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: to be the Chargers or the Chiefs. That's all I've
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: been hearing. That being said, I think this will be
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: a really even three-team race. I wouldn't be surprised if
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: the AFC West has a piece of four seed for
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: the division winner. I think it'll be Denver by at
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: least by one game. I think it's going to come
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: down to a tiebreaker, and I think you're going to
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: hear me out for this one. The Chiefs are second.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Chargers third. Vegas fourth.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Honestly, that was my ranking.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: That That is also my ranking. And that is also
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: one that I'm still kind of dying on that hill
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: of because I think Patrick Mahomes is a very mid-quarterback.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: But at the same time, on a very serious note,
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: I do believe that Mahomes is going to have that
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: regression that we talked about from his ACL tear. And
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: if Denver performs anything like they did last year, And
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: if Bo Nix stays healthy, I definitely think Denver's going
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: to carry the AFC West.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Yeah, my only question, Mark, is how is Mike McDaniel
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: going to impact the Chargers? And how will that defense
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: be impacted now that Jesse Minter's not on the team anymore?
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: That's really my only question, Mark.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Yeah, that's definitely fair.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: I love McDaniel. That's OC for Justin Herbert. I love it.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: I think Herbert's offensive game is going to take an
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: incredible step up. But with the Chiefs just having Mahomes
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: and Kelsey and the NFL holding their hands still, I
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: think that's probably going to be what they got to
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: overcome to jump over the Chiefs.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that's definitely a fair one. But that is the
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: AFC side of the division rankings. Let's move on to
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: the NFC. And let's start with the NFC East. Wait
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: a second. I got to find them. Where are my pom-poms? Guys,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I can't find my pom-pom so I can cheer for
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: the Cowboys like Michael Irvin right now that they're going
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: to be the team since the 72 Dolphins.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: That's not happening. Let's be real.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: What was it that Stephen A. used to say all
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: the time? Stay off the weed.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Oh, you mean stay off the Wii?
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Anyway, I had the Eagles winning the division. Well, it
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: won't be pretty. It will not be pretty.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: No, I agree. It won't be pretty, but I also
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: have Philadelphia winning that division as well.
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: I had the Commanders in second place.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Whoa.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I don't think that's that tall of a... I don't
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: think that's bold of a take, honestly.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually think the Cowboys will be better, but
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: I don't think by much. I think this will be
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: another one of these three-team races for that four-seeded NFC.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: I actually think the Commanders do get better with Jaden Daniels.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Hopefully back healthy, if that offensive line can do something.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: And then there's the Giants.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: We're just going to figure out how to win a
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: fifth game and not offend Jaden Daniels.
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Wait a second, Brandon. Did I just hear Nova correctly
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: that the NFC East is going to be fighting for
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: the four seed?
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: That's a tall take, man. That's a tall take.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: I just think they're going to be losing too many games.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I'm sorry. We still have another division to get to
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: that basically has the four seed reserved for whoever wants
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: to win it.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: Do you really think the NFC is better than the
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: three seed? I don't think so.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: Fun fact. Fun fact. 2026 NFC strength of schedule. Washington
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: Commanders ranked 16th hardest. New York Giants 17th hardest. Dallas
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Cowgirls 20th hardest. Philadelphia Eagles, 23rd hardest in the NFL.
- 1:11:40Speaker 3: See? It's going to be difficult.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but again.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: That's not a high difficulty level.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's also not the four seed. I mean,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: do we want to just skip over the north and
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: go to the real four seed? Who's winning the freaking south?
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: Where are your takes at the east end before we
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: go there, then?
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Uh, I'm going to pick Philadelphia to win the division,
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: but I will say Dallas finishes second. And then I
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: got Washington third giants.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: For Philadelphia, Washington, Dallas, Owen, 17, New York giants.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: No, I said Philadelphia, Dallas, Washington, New York.
- 1:12:26Speaker 3: No, that's what Brandon said. Brandon is agreeing with me.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: No, that's my, that's my take. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh.
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I jumped the gun. Maybe I should stay off the weed.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: No, maybe you should actually lay off the James Daniels jokes.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: No, that's me.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's Brandon. I make six jokes a podcast,
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: so that way I'm over the number five.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: But you gotta chain five and six together, though.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: But you know, but Well, also, as long as we
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: don't do 6 and 7 together.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: Hopefully not, because social media keeps buzzing about it. I
- 1:13:05Speaker 3: just wish that meme would just go away.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Thank you!
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: I'm banning you from this podcast for a 6-7 joke.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: I didn't say it! Talon did!
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I think that's who he's trying to ban, not you.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: He's trying to ban me.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: Anyway, South rankings. I actually had a hard time with
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: this one, because I initially had the Saints... winning this
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: division but now that all the injuries have happened i
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: changed my mind i think it's tampa.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Okay i'm just gonna remove nova from the podcast for
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: about two seconds here for for even considering picking new
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: orleans to win this division look i'm saying it right
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: now I'm going to pick Carolina. I'm an Atlanta fan,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: but I'm a pick. I'm a ride with Carolina to
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: win the division because they won it last year. And
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: because this division is so horrible, I'm going to ride
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: with last year's winner. But don't be surprised if Atlanta
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: or Tampa usurps them. But I will say Atlanta finishes second.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Tampa finishes third and New Orleans finishes last.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: You just really hate New Orleans, don't you?
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: I mean, the city is beautiful. The team is just bad.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: I wouldn't agree with that. They've been better over the
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: last few years. Like, this isn't the worst team I've seen.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: No, that would just be the Cleveland Browns, the New
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: York Jets, the Arizona Cardinals, and the New Orleans Saints.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: See, the rest of my settings are weird because I
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: had to say it's winning, but God, it's hard to
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: pick two from four because all these teams are worthy
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: of being last. And I'm going to throw out my early,
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't make the playoffs, Todd
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Bowles is getting fired.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely. Todd Bowles is getting fired if Tampa doesn't
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: make the playoffs this season because you can only lose
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: so many pieces of the puzzle And before somebody realizes
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: there's only one constant here, we're losing all these pieces.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: We're keeping this one.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: Yeah. I think the rest of my sayings are weird.
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: Cause like I have, you know what?
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Screw it.
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: I'm gonna go for it. Carolina second, Atlanta third, New
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Orleans last, but I think I wouldn't be surprised to
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: be separated by three games.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: So if we're going by, if we were to go
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: by rather, the strength of schedule for the NFC South. Then,
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: assuming it holds true, and assuming they all play up
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: to the level that it's supposed to be, or they
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: all fall victim to the level it's supposed to be,
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: however you want to portray this, the New Orleans Saints
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: have the second easiest SOS in the NFL this year.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: Followed by Atlanta with fourth easiest SOS. Tampa Bay at 12th,
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: and Carolina at the 10th hardest. So if we go
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: by that SOS, it'll be New Orleans, Atlanta, and Tampa Bay, Carolina. However,
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: I personally think it's going to be Carolina, Tampa Bay,
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: New Orleans, Atlanta. I heard the groan. I heard the groan.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: That wasn't a jab at Atlanta. That was actually a
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: very serious opinion. I genuinely think that's how it's going
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: to fall into place. I think Bryce Young is going
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: to continue to take that step up and actually escalate
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: coming off of his performance last year. And I think
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: Caroline is actually going to finish with a record that's
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: better than 500 this year. I think Tampa Bay is
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: going to be right there on their heels. I think
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: people are going to realize that they should probably stop
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: underestimating the Saints combined with the fact that they have
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: the second easiest SOS in the league. And then Atlanta
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: can't figure out their quarterback problem.
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I was going to ask that, like how much of
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: your putting Atlanta in last had anything to, was it
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: solely because of the quarterback or was there another factor?
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: That was never my answer.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: It's pretty much the QB factor, because honestly, neither one
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: of those QBs, neither Tua nor Penix, are going to
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: be anything that's... They're not going to be anything that's game-defining.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: They're really not, unless Tua steps up and decides he's
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: going to play how he did at Alabama, or Penix
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: steps up and plays like he did for Washington. Like,
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: I mean... It's... Neither one of them have shown... the
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: progress that I thought that they probably would have made.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: And I think this is very comparable to Marcus Mariota
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: and Jameis Winston coming out of their CFP runs. Neither
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: one of them really lived up to the hype that
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: they established in college. And I think it's really going
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: to be indicative on the Falcons this year with two
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: QBs who pretty much had the exact same path.
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: See, and then my additional reason would have been the defense,
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: because remember, James Pierce is suspended for eight weeks, and
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: I actually think they actually go on a terrible start
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: and then strong finish again and being the cliche.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: I mean, again, that will be one that I naturally
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: I'll be looking forward to myself. Now, again, when it
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: comes to week five, when it's you versus me, Nova,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: we will see how Atlanta's pass rush handles against Lamar Jackson,
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Derrick Henry and everything else when it comes to Baltimore
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: but I was also going to ask Brandon like how
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: much of him picking Carolina to win has to do
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: with the fact that he's a Bama boy and he
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: wants his Bama boys to do well in the NFL.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: So that means he would be riding with Bryce because
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: of how Bryce played at Alabama. But again, this division
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: is such a crap shoot that it's just better. If
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: we pick the, like we pick the winner here and
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: let's just move on.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: For, uh, we skipped that for a bit. Let's go
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: back there.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Honestly, that one might be the toughest, uh, Yeah, I
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: think it's going to be all four teams.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I won't go that far. I mean, look, as much
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: as I, and I just, we'll be talking about it momentarily.
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: I just picked up Kyler Murray in fantasy, but this
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: might be a hot take. I'm going to say the
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Vikings still finished last in the NFC North, and I'm
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: saying it's a three-team race between Green Bay, Detroit, and
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Chicago League.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: See, I had the Packers finishing last still.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: I think that's a tall take. I do.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I seriously think that Micah Parsons' injury is going to
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: hold him back.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: I don't think Micah Parsons is that good. I don't
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: think he's team-defining.
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: Then why is he in the top 10 of the
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: NFL in 100 this year?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: Because it's a popularity contest.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: That's only a player's vote. It's not a fan vote.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: If it was a fan vote... Well, then that'd be
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: a whole nother can of worms that I think for
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: all of our sanity's sake is better that we don't
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: open that up. But I'm actually going to say that
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: Detroit wins the NFC North this year. And I'm actually
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: going to say Green Bay barely outpaces Chicago, but I
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: will say this division gets three playoff teams in Green Bay, Detroit,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: and Chicago.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely.
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: I don't think it will.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: I mean, that's my thing. I'm saying Detroit owns the
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: North yet again because they're going to be playing better.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: I'm going to say Green Bay. They will probably struggle
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: a little early out of the game with no Micah,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: but I think they will finish second place. I'll have
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: Chicago in third at like a nine and eight record
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: and then Minnesota at fourth place.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: See, I have Detroit, then Chicago, then Minnesota at third,
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: and Green Bay last. I'm not... I really think it's
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: going to be cutting close if Minnesota makes the playoffs.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: I just think the NFC is actually a lot closer
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: than people would like to admit, but I wouldn't be
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: surprised if there were three teams. Or maybe, in fact, four.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: I think it would be historical.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Mine, I think... I think the Lions win the NFC North,
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: and I don't think it's close.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: You think Chicago doesn't have a chance?
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: I think Detroit wins the NFC North, and I think
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: they only drop two games.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Oh, whoa.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: And I say that because, again, statistics, plus they have
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: a very high-octane offense. They also have one of the
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: easiest schedules in the league this season. If you think
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: about how well golf has been playing and think about
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: how well that running back tandem is led by Jameer
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Gibbs in that backfield, they have one of the easiest
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: schedules in the league.
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: And you don't think Drew Pett seems to be the problem?
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: What's that?
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: And you don't think Drew Pett seems to be the problem?
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: The old coordinator for the Lions?
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think it's going to
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: be in consideration. I don't think this is an up
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: year for everybody in general. And the fact that they
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: have an easy strength of schedule is just going to
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: be the cherry on top. I don't think Minnesota finishes last.
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: I think they finish third. You know who I think
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: finishes last? I think it's Chicago. Whoa, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I think it's Chicago. I think Caleb Williams is going
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: to go against, again, taking strength of schedule into comparison here.
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: I think Caleb Williams is going to see the schedule
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: and he's going to be like, what the hell have
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: I gotten myself into? Because the Chicago Bears have the
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: hardest schedule in the league.
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: I really do see that all three of us are
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: going different last place recipients.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: Going to be Chicago.
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: I think Caleb Williams, not only because of their strength
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: of schedule being the hardest, one of, if not the
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: hardest in the league, I'm also a very firm, superstitious
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: believer in the Madden curse. Because if you think about it,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: Caleb Williams was just on the cover of Madden.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Isn't that not real? Didn't somebody win.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember who did it. Was it Mahomes
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: or was it Brady?
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I think it was Mahomes, right?
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I can definitely see it being real,
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: but it's never been, like, true.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: Well, and it was Mahomes for Madden 20, because I
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: think he had a small knee injury earlier that year,
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: but they went on to win the Super Bowl that
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: same year. I think that's the only real instance of
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: it kind of being true. you know, defied, I guess,
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: for lack of a better term. But Mahomes' injury wasn't
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: even that serious. So arguably, the Madden curse just didn't
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: happen that year. Yeah, he got hurt, but he still
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: came back to play that same season.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: Fair enough, I guess, yeah.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fair enough. But now let's wrap it up
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: with the final division, the NFC West.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: And.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Well, I think we all, I think pretty much everyone
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: and their mother knows who the favorite is to win
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: in this division, right? Yes. It's the Seattle Seahawks.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: Yes, exactly. I'm glad you said that. I was like,
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: there's no way you're going to be saying the Rams fans.
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: I mean, yes, I know I'm local to the product,
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: but there's really, this is a super team. Yes, but
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: I don't think it's going to win the division because
- 1:25:22Speaker 3: I still have high hope on Sam Darnold and that
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: Seahawks offense, you know, just staying on a high level.
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: And I expect Mike McDonald and that dark side defense
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: is just continuing to be ravaging opponents. And it's really
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: going to be a two-team race in the NFC again
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: between the Seahawks and the Rams. Yeah.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: And I mean, naturally you want to, you want to
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: give the Seahawks the benefit of the doubt early. I mean,
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: they're defending Superbowl champions, but Last time I checked, the
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: Seahawks didn't have Richard Sherman, Cam Chancellor, and Earl Thomas
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: all un-retire to come back and play. And then they
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: trade for... I'm not going to go with the Miles
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Garrett route, but.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Who was it, Rob?
- 1:26:15Speaker 2: 2014-15?
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Von Miller.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: That would have shook leagues back then.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: Yeah, speaking of which, breaking news from the last time
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: from that episode, Aaron Donald unretires and has signed a
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: one-year deal with the Rams.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it's very simple.
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: He's back!
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: He's back to what? Break his back? He's 35 years
- 1:26:49Speaker 2: old playing DB in a younger league.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: No, he's a defensive tackle.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. He's in
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: a younger league. Oh, sorry. My apologies.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, you said DB, so we're like, wait
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: a minute. Aaron Donald is now playing corner?
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: DT.
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: DT. Yeah, he's 35 years old playing in a league
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: with younger players. I just, I don't know. I said
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: this before in our chat kind of off to the side.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: I don't think Aaron Donald really makes a difference for
- 1:27:27Speaker 2: that defense, whether he plays or not.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: I guess that's the reason he's not one of the captains.
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: Yeah. True. I think they're more for the vet support
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: than anything.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I have a share between all of us. I
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: had a Niners third, Cardinals last.
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'm going Seattle, LA, San Fran, Arizona.
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: LA Seattle San Fran.
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: Oh, you think the Rams win in the West?
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: I mean, look, it's, it's a very tough one for
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: the NFC West. I mean, naturally I'm pulling for Seattle
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: because you're the defending champions. Naturally. Like I said, with
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: the Carolina one, I'm going to lean in that general direction,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: but I, When you also are the defending world champions,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: you kind of get that extra line of support from me.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: So that's why I'm going to go with Seattle. But
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: let me just throw this out here for you guys.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: I want to i want your guys's honest take on
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: this if aaron donald we know he's coming back um
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: if he gets uh i'll throw a number out there
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: 11 11 and a half sacks 11 and a half
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: Is that a positive for Aaron Donald or a negative
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: for the rest of the league that a guy can
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: come off his couch after not playing for four years
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: and still get double-digit sacks?
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: I think that's a positive for Aaron Donald.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: I think it's both.
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Well....
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: That's going to be our rankings of the divisions. So
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: I think all that's left. I mean, we were just
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: talking about like I did like a stat. So we
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: might as well talk about this, guys. Why are we
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: in the same fantasy league?
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I got we call out wide here. Like, why
- 1:29:49Speaker 3: do you do this to us? I get reiterated this again.
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I've not played fantasy football in 11 years. And you're
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: making me come back to this.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: I just.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: I saw that and I understand he randomized it. But
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: I don't think he randomized it well enough. Because I
- 1:30:12Speaker 2: was going to be like, come on, man. You got
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: to redo this. You can't put all three of us
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: in the same fantasy league. Because now that's just going
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: to add an extra layer of shit talking to our podcast.
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: And it's going to be fun. No, don't worry.
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: You're not going to take it into the podcast. I
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: think all of us have a clear objective at this point.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: None of us. We all agree on this. Let's try
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: not to finish last.
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I mean, that's definitely fair that we don't want to
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: finish last. I mean, we're in a 14-team league also.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: guys so i think it's gonna be very difficult for
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: us to finish.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Last i mean we think fantasy yeah.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Okay okay and other breaking news uh brandon has just
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: revealed who he's gonna be for halloween he's gonna be
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: barney stinson.
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: What He's too young. Yeah, he's too young for that reference.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: What kind of horror movie are you talking about?
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: Well, that's a whole other conversation for a post-show podcast.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: Might as well put that one on Patreon and just
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: kind of just be like, here's the age. Here's how
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: young Nova actually is. He doesn't know any of this.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Um, but I, I will say this about our fantasy
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: league because I did throw this out to wide. Um,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: and I will pull this up. So you guys know
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: about this. I put this in the fantasy football chat
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: in that server. Um, let me, let me find, Oh, uh,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: this was from Jack settlement on Twitter. Um, The last
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: place punishment for Jack's Fantasy Football League is to watch
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: every 15-plus minute Skip Bayless rant consecutively on a live
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: stream that he makes from NFL kickoff until the Super
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Bowl and then rank them.
- 1:32:25Speaker 3: I definitely don't want to be doing that because I've
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: lost respect to Skip Bayless five years ago.
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: That is why it's the perfect last place punishment.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: And that's why I'm saying that our objectives should just
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: have none of us finish last, because I don't think
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: any of us want to do it.
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: I mean, I may listen to a couple of Skip's rants,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: like maybe every so often I'll listen to him, but
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: I would much rather listen to Stephen A rant.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: I don't know if I listen to the eater at them.
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: And I will at least also run this by everybody
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: that I have our team. So for yours truly, my
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: team is Matthew Stafford, Derek Henry, Chuba Hubbard, Drake London,
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: Emeka Egbuka, Sam Laporta, DK Metcalf, Aaron Jones, Harrison Mevis,
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: the Broncos defense, Sam Darnold. Who's this guy? Who's this guy? Yeah,
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: who's this guy? Jaden Blue, Kalon Black, Tyler Algier, Calvin Ridley,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Rashad Bateman, and TJ Hawkinson. That is my team. Let's
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: move on to, where is his name here? Let's do
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: Nova's team. Nova has... Lamar Jackson, Kyron Williams, Tony Pollard, LaDeeDee,
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: Mekon K.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I hate you for this.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: It's LaDeeDee.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: No, no, Brandon. I think we understand. It's LaDeeDee. You
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: know your name. You are LaDeeDee Mekon K.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I know what you're referring to.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Jordan Addison, Dalton Kincaid, Hunter Henry, Xavier Worthy, Brandon Aubrey,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: the Texans in the fifth round of the draft, mind you,
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: to where even the software was saying reach.
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: What? Twice on him, for that matter. Twice.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: I had a strategy for this fantasy draft. It's the
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: same strategy I had 11 years ago, and I'm sticking
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: to it.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: And then his bench is the Patriots defense. Chase McLaughlin,
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: Pat Friermuth.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Is it Robert Flournoy? Ryan.
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: Ryan Flournoy. He's got two M. Washington. So this is
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: the B. Robinson, Bajon Robinson. And Tyler Schock. And then finally,
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: we have May and Prey. That is Brandon's team. By
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: the way.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: So, before you get started with that one, I would
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: just like to preface this by saying I picked my
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: starting lineup, picked my backup QB, and then turned auto-drafter
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: on and went to bed. Oh my god.
- 1:35:39Speaker 3: Speaking of the auto-drafter, that thing sniped several of my
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: picks and I was not happy about it.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and I remember I sniped Derek Henry in round one.
- 1:35:49Speaker 3: He was at the top of my list.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Also, I forgot to mention, Nova's team is called Supernova
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: The Return, and my team name is Working 9 to 5.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: A little bit of a tribute to the late, great
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: Dolly Parton, but as an Atlanta fan, it's with Michael
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: Penix and Drake London. So... And then finally, we have
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Brandon's team, a.k.a. May and Prey.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: That's clever, and you know it.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: All right, what are his quarterbacks? Tell everybody about the
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: auto-drafter results for Brandon. He has Drake May as his
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: starting quarterback. We're shocked. And Jared Goff. What did the
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: auto-draft give him?
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: The auto-draft first.
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: Let's do the bench first.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: Okay, we'll do the bench first. I'm trying to remember
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: these guys' names. Darren Waller, Dontavian Wicks, D. Myers, the
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: wide receiver for Cincinnati. Okay, that's why I don't know
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: his name. Travis Hunter, T. Tucker.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: Is that Trey Tucker?
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: Yeah, it's Trey Tucker.
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Okay, Trey Tucker. R. Davis. It's Ray Davis. Ray Davis.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: And that's his bench. His starting lineup right now as
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: it stands, we said Drake May, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentry,
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Zay Flowers, Marvin Harrison Jr., Travis Kelsey, Blake Corum, Jalen Coker,
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: Chris Boswell, and the Seahawks defense.
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: I'm actually kind of happy with the team. The bench
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: is incredibly subpar, but I'm pretty happy with the starting team.
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: I don't know how the hell I'm going to use
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Travis Hunter if he's going to play both sides of
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: the ball every single game, but, you know, okay, we'll
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: cross that bridge when we get to it.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: Yeah, cross that bridge when we get to it. But
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, make sure you let us know on Twitter.
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: You guys have our links in the description of this podcast.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: Let us know who has the best team of the
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: three of us and why it's me.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: No, that is clearly not correct.
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: I had to say the bias. I had to throw
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: some trash talk out there.
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Look, I said it before and I'll say it again.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: It's an 11-year-old strategy for me. I just wanted to
- 1:38:23Speaker 3: make sure I had my people when I could as
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: the earliest possible. That was the strategy.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: Texans in the fifth round.
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: That's not the worst thing. It's like, I didn't want
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: to risk the snipe.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I mean, it was just so funny when that happened.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen a software. Brandon, have
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: you ever seen that before with a software? It's not
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: even so much the group, the player base was like, huh?
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: What's going on here? Like what happened with Ashton Gentry
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: going first overall?
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: I was trying to pay attention to that chat. Nobody
- 1:38:59Speaker 3: said a thing. I must have missed it.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: I know why it said. Like we were all just
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: being like, damn sleeper with all like, uh, like, like
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: sleeper from the top rope and whatever.
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: I mean, twice.
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: It's you twice. Yeah. I mean, I thought it was
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: kind of weird because it did it to me once.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: And it was because they called me taking Kelsey in
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: the fifth round to reach, which I don't necessarily agree with.
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: I think thinking him in the fifth as a Titan
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: is fine. Yeah. Great. It's not the best, but it's fine. However,
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: if I remember correctly, yours was taking the Houston Texans defense.
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: First and foremost, I'm sitting here like that's a that's
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: a fucking early ass.
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: My only defense is I didn't want them to get sniped.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: I mean, I was sniped. They're hanging from me.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: I can't remember what the other one was. I want
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: to say the other one.
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: It was Brandon Aubrey.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it was Aubrey. It was the kicker. It was
- 1:40:03Speaker 2: an early kicker.
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: And if you didn't notice, I got two kickers in
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: the lineup.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: I mean, two kickers in the lineup isn't all that horrible.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: Not unheard of.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: No, it's not unheard of. Usually it's just you have
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: your kicker when he's on the bye week and drop
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: some random bench player, pick up another kicker, and then.
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: That was my strategy the whole time. I want to
- 1:40:31Speaker 3: make sure I have spots on the roster for the
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: bye weeks.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: I mean, that's definitely a fair strategy. But again, we've
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: got 14 weeks of the NFL regular season to go
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: with this. And I believe the first matchup of our
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: season between any of us. Let's see.
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: I'm not favorite in mind. I'll be real with you.
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: So Brandon and I play in week three. That might
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: be the earliest time any of us play each other.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: But I'm going to look at Nova's team real quick.
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: Let's look at the schedule. Oh, no. You guys play
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: each other week two. Oh.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: Yeah, we play each other week two. And then I
- 1:41:30Speaker 2: turn around and play it down week three.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: And as a matter of fact, Nova and I don't
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: play each other until week 13. Oh, my God. Like,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: that's kind of crazy, ain't it, Brandon?
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that's something. Let's see. Y'all play each other 13.
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: I think I play him a second time, right? No? Yeah,
- 1:41:56Speaker 2: I play y'all two and three. Yeah, that's fun. I'll
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: play the easy two over y'all. It's fine.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: That is not going to happen. I have my options. Although,
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: I'll be 100% real with you. I was not happy
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: with my Tony Pollard pick, but that's a different story.
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's Tony Pollard, so... He's not.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: Terrible, but I don't have much faith in a Titans O-line.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: I don't have any faith in it either, so.
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: We will see what happens there, but I think we've
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: handled everything. So ladies and gentlemen, it is time for
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: us to ruffle some feathers because it is time for
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: the end of the preseason. Oh, I mean, I think
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: it's only safe to say that we go with Mr.
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: I have the greatest hot takes of all time. So
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: he started with one.
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: So Brandon, what do you got today?
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: Oh my goodness. I really haven't thought much about it
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: this week. I kind of figured my hot take would
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: be Chicago finishing last in the NFC North. Figured that
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: one was pretty okay. But even though we kind of
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: discussed the rankings earlier and figuring out where we thought
- 1:43:26Speaker 2: people would realistically finish within each of their particular divisions...
- 1:43:32Speaker 2: I would genuinely like to say, and this is my
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: preference for a hot take, that I think the Chiefs
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: will finish just above 500. Oh, you're.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: Going to finish 9-8?
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: I think they're going to finish 9-8. I think a
- 1:43:47Speaker 2: lot of it has to do with the fact that
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: their roster is not as talented as it has been
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: in recent years. I think it's going to have a
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: lot to do with their Mahomes regression. And I think, honestly,
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: I think Andy Reid's on his way out the door.
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: And I also think we can add this one for
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: funsies if we want to. I also think, and I
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: really hope this is not the case because I did
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: take him in fantasy.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: I think that.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Kelsey also regresses because I think he's put a lot
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: of extra time and effort into his marriage to good
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: old T-Slift.
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: Hmm. So you're saying he's going to put more time
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: into his personal life is going to affect them?
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: The 918, I don't think it's too unrealistic, but.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: It's not too unrealistic. Like I said, I think my
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: Chicago take earlier was probably my hot take for the night.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: See, I actually thought it was the Indianapolis take.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see either or.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I could see either or myself with that.
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: At least for me, like all I can think about
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: with the ruffle and the feathers is I'm going to
- 1:45:11Speaker 1: ruffle Brandon's when I say this. I know we got through.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: I mean, Nova, we made it almost two hours into
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: this podcast without a joke about it. But I'm going
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: to say this. The 49ers, even though we said they're
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: going to finish in third place, I say they're not
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: going to have another injury thanks to the electrical substation
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: all season long.
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you were going to be like, just
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: this one week, I said they're not going to be
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: near the substation. They're in Australia.
- 1:45:41Speaker 2: You think the substation sacrifices have been fulfilled?
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: I mean, if anything, I would say that, you know,
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: they have to watch out for the dingoes and whatnot.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: but outside of that, it was kind of difficult this week.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: There really wasn't anything. Once the regular season starts, we'll
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: be able to really get some people fired up because
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: we at least will have some real games to talk about.
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll be giving game previews, which actually make a
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: lot more sense to give hot takes.
- 1:46:15Speaker 2: I can't wait till we come back from week one
- 1:46:17Speaker 2: after the Patriots walk away with a W.
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: What shall be mine? Because we're saving the preview stuff
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: for next week. What do I want to throw to
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: the dartboard? I'm going to throw something and see if
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: it lands. Is there anything in mind that I want
- 1:46:37Speaker 3: to say? Raven's finished. Okay, you can have two takes.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: And also, that's not happening. I promise you, it's not happening.
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: I was trying to think.
- 1:46:59Speaker 3: Oh, Aaron Glenn gets fired mid-season.
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: I can see it.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see that.
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: I think the Jets are going to finish last. I
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: think they're going to take this serious and be like, yeah,
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: we're done with him mid-season and it's just going to
- 1:47:17Speaker 3: continue the Jets' misery.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: I mean, it's the Jets. You can't really be too
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: surprised at their misery.
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: But yeah, but I really do think Aaron Glenn's going
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: to get fired midseason, like maybe week five at the earliest.
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: That might actually be a little bit more of a
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: juicy take there, Brandon, don't you think?
- 1:47:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd say at least midseason. Like when is their
- 1:47:45Speaker 2: bye week? Week 13. Yeah, I would definitely say he
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: gets fired before the bye week if they're going to
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: fire him midseason. Looking at the Jets schedule, if I
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: feel like I have to pick something, it's after they're
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: lost to Kansas City in Kansas City. Yeah.
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: I just don't think Aaron Glenn survived me this season.
- 1:48:06Speaker 4: No.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: I don't think I can see that either. But outside
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: of that, I mean... That is another successful episode of
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, we want
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: to thank you guys once again for all of your
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: support on this podcast. We appreciate you guys sticking with
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: us through the preseason because as the preseason got closer
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: to the end, so did the ability to really talk
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: about anything, really.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: I think just one more thing. Is there somebody in
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: Atlanta that's still on the final roster that you are
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: not happy about? Let's end it on a bang.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: All right. I'm going to try to be calm on this.
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: I'm going to try to be calm.
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: Don't worry, viewers. This is the finale segment. We want
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: to end this with a bang.
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: What the hell is J.D. Bertrand doing on the Atlanta
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: Falcons roster anymore? What is going on here? The guy sucks. Oh,
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: my God.
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: You feel better? You feel better?
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: You cut Zach Robinson for a waiver. You put Zach
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: Robinson on the waiver wire, and then you just brought
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: Zach Robinson back Even though Zach Harrison, geez, I'm losing
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: my mind here. I'm saying that our defensive end was
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: the really shitty offensive coordinator we had the last two seasons.
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: You're going to send Zach Harrison to the waivers so
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: you can get your waiver claims that Ian Cunningham said, oh,
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: we were surprised that we were going to even get
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: these waiver claims. Yeah, I believe that. when I see
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: it because you then said in the exact same press
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: conference that Zach Harrison was in the weight room sometimes
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: by himself getting himself healthy and getting himself strong and
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: you're going to put him out on the chopping blocks
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: but you kept number 40 give me a.
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: Break fireworks in other news a sudden 40 minute Patreon
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: episode appears oh And it's just Talon ranting about this
- 1:50:30Speaker 2: the entire time. Thanks, Nova. We almost made it.
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: No, no, we did make it. I just wanted to
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: end it with fireworks.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: You succeeded. Well, yeah, you succeeded with some fireworks. Look,
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: I'll be making more of these. rants during the regular
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: season when I see that mother trucker going on the
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: field and he is going to be a deer in
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: headlights ones that Brandon and I have to avoid on
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: a regular basis when driving at night is that the
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: truth so I am going to have some of these
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: thoughts during the regular season As will I. At least
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: in the terms of the NFL preseason. I think it
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: was bullshit that Zach Harrison was waived. This guy got kept.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: And now Zach Harrison is back on the Falcons roster.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: So technically, all is well in the Zach Harrison.
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: Actually, there's someone else that I think Brandon got a
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: little excited for as well. Joe Milton was cut by
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: the Cowboys, but then signed with the practice squad after
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: he was thinking, oh, please bring Joe Milton back to
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: the Patriots.
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: God, please bring the man with the cannon back to Patriots.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: But no, it's fine.
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: Anyway... And then my last fireworks. Why did we sign
- 1:52:01Speaker 3: Jake Moody instead of Matt Prater?
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: Because anything's better than Tyler Loop.
- 1:52:10Speaker 3: I don't think Jake Moody's any better, but I guess
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: it's better than nothing. But it's in the tactics squad now.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: That's my only complaint. That's my fireworks.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
