- 0:09Speaker 1: Aye, sure it alone. Welcome to the Naughty but Nice Show.
- 0:16Speaker 1: I'm your host, Rob Shooter. It's Monday morning. Garrett is
- 0:19Speaker 1: off today because we're taping really, really early in the morning.
- 0:23Speaker 1: I'm doing a ton of TV all day about Kate Middleton.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I wanted to make sure we got our podcast done
- 0:30Speaker 1: brighton early by nine o'clock every morning, we have a
- 0:33Speaker 1: new episode for you. So I'm up early today doing
- 0:36Speaker 1: the podcast by myself. But I'm never really by myself. Naughties,
- 0:41Speaker 1: you're there with me, holding my hand along the way.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Let's jump into the show. What time is it, my friends?
- 0:48Speaker 1: It is tea time. So today's episode is gonna focus
- 0:52Speaker 1: on Kate Middleton. Friday, we got the breaking news about
- 0:56Speaker 1: her cancer diagnosis, and today we're going to dedicate the
- 1:00Speaker 1: show to all things Kate, and we're going to do
- 1:03Speaker 1: it in a nice way. Okay, big story. At the
- 1:07Speaker 1: top of the show, there have been calls for Stephen Colbert,
- 1:11Speaker 1: Andy Cohen, Kim Kardashian, and even Blake Lively to apologize
- 1:17Speaker 1: after they all mocked Kate Middleton. So the criticism directed
- 1:22Speaker 1: at Colbert, Kardashian, Cohen and others for mocking Kate Middleton's
- 1:28Speaker 1: disappearance and spreading rumors about her personal life reflect a
- 1:34Speaker 1: broader concern about the lack of discretion and empathy in
- 1:39Speaker 1: the public discourse, especially when it evolves around someone's personal struggles.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Let me remind you coldbar made fun of the royal couple,
- 1:51Speaker 1: even bringing up old rumors about a potential and alleged
- 1:55Speaker 1: and fair that William may have had may not have had. Also,
- 1:59Speaker 1: Kim Karda is involved in the controversy. Before Kate announced
- 2:04Speaker 1: that she had cancer, Kim did push these conspiracy theories
- 2:08Speaker 1: and now she's been criticized for spreading quote harmful misinformation.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And who can forget that Andy Cohen, who always has
- 2:17Speaker 1: to get in on the action, he didn't believe that
- 2:20Speaker 1: the video of Kate at the farm market was real,
- 2:25Speaker 1: sparking more speculation there, and then onmid Scobie that's Megan
- 2:29Speaker 1: Markle and Harry's friend. He is getting pushed back too
- 2:33Speaker 1: because he tweeted and then deleted a tweet about Kate
- 2:36Speaker 1: Middleton's cancer announcement, and this people are saying is really insensitive.
- 2:42Speaker 1: So what we're getting to here, naughties, is how this
- 2:46Speaker 1: was handled before Kate revealed that she had cancer. While
- 2:52Speaker 1: it's acknowledged that the royal family is subject to public scrutiny,
- 2:57Speaker 1: there is a call for greater discretion and empathy, especially
- 3:02Speaker 1: when dealing with such sensitive medical issues. I think we
- 3:06Speaker 1: can all agree on that the focus should be on
- 3:09Speaker 1: support in individuals like Kate during difficult times, rather than
- 3:13Speaker 1: perpetuating rumors and sensatializing the headlines to try and get
- 3:19Speaker 1: cliques or in Andy's case, Kim's case, attention. So overall,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I think there's a recognition that the Palace's handling of
- 3:27Speaker 1: this situation was not good, but also to maybe our
- 3:31Speaker 1: response didn't have the compassion that it needed to have.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Liam McSweeney, who's one of the Real Housewives, a former housewife,
- 3:40Speaker 1: is going after Andy Cohen saying his remarks were cruel.
- 3:43Speaker 1: She said, quote Andy Cohen gets a kick out of
- 3:46Speaker 1: being cruel to women, and Kate Middleton is no exception.
- 3:50Speaker 1: She concludes by saying, quote, I hope that after she
- 3:54Speaker 1: was forced to publicly talk about her cancer diagnosis, Andy
- 3:59Speaker 1: will muster up the decency to apologize to her. People
- 4:02Speaker 1: with power need to lead by example. Now that's exactly
- 4:06Speaker 1: what Blake Lively has done. Blake made fun of Kate
- 4:10Speaker 1: Middleton and that photographer now Blake feels terrible about it
- 4:14Speaker 1: and has apologized. Do these other people? Does Stephen Colbert,
- 4:19Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian, Andy Cohen? Do they owe Kate an apology?
- 4:24Speaker 1: Insiders are saying that they should be ashamed of themselves
- 4:27Speaker 1: for mocking Kate Middleton now that the truth has come out?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Do they owe her an apology? Hey? Go vote on
- 4:34Speaker 1: our Twitter page at naughteen nice Rob or our Facebook
- 4:38Speaker 1: page which is Nordy goszimb and be sure to check
- 4:41Speaker 1: back tomorrow to hear your results. Okay, more Kate news.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Harry and Meghan have reached out to Kate and William
- 4:50Speaker 1: following the cancer diagnosis of Reveola. So in the wake
- 4:55Speaker 1: of Kate's heartbreaking diagnosis, Prince Harry and Meg and Markel
- 5:00Speaker 1: did extend their support to both Prince William and Kate.
- 5:05Speaker 1: The Sussexes reached out to the Cambridges in a private
- 5:08Speaker 1: communication on Friday. So on Friday they put out a
- 5:12Speaker 1: public statement wishing them well, but insiders are now saying
- 5:15Speaker 1: they did reach out privately the royal family Kate William.
- 5:19Speaker 1: They have emails, they have cell phones, they have iPhones
- 5:22Speaker 1: and so you can reach them now. Harry and Meghan
- 5:25Speaker 1: they have Kate's number, they have an email, so they
- 5:28Speaker 1: have reached out to her. However, insiders tell me that
- 5:33Speaker 1: Kate has yet to respond. Sources say that there's really
- 5:39Speaker 1: a lot of tension still between the Sussexes and the Cambridges,
- 5:42Speaker 1: and ultimately hear a lack of trust. They just don't
- 5:46Speaker 1: trust Harry or Meghan anymore, and they're frightened that if
- 5:49Speaker 1: they respond, Harry and Meghan might run and tell Oprah
- 5:52Speaker 1: or Gail King or somebody else in the media. So
- 5:55Speaker 1: it's better to just keep them at arm's lengths. But
- 5:57Speaker 1: at the same time, if somebody reaches out to you,
- 6:00Speaker 1: isn't it a bit rude not to not accept it,
- 6:03Speaker 1: to not acknowledge it. They're in a difficult position here.
- 6:06Speaker 1: What would you do if you were Kate Middleton and
- 6:08Speaker 1: you've got an email a text from Meghan or Harry
- 6:11Speaker 1: really saying they had their deepest sympathies here. And I
- 6:14Speaker 1: do believe that. I don't think for one minute, no
- 6:17Speaker 1: matter how bad things are between the brothers, between Kate
- 6:21Speaker 1: between Meghan, I think here there is a human decency
- 6:24Speaker 1: when somebody is sick, when somebody has cancer, you put
- 6:28Speaker 1: all that to one side, don't you, just for a
- 6:29Speaker 1: minute put it to one side and you focus on
- 6:32Speaker 1: the humanity of this. So I think Harry and Meghan
- 6:36Speaker 1: did that, but they did not get a response out
- 6:40Speaker 1: of that. Also, two insiders are telling me that Harry
- 6:43Speaker 1: and Meghan have opted out of returning to the UK
- 6:46Speaker 1: to London and mid Kate's crisis. So the decision by
- 6:51Speaker 1: Harry and Meghan to not go to London amid all
- 6:54Speaker 1: the news around Kate has sparked a little bit of
- 6:57Speaker 1: a controversy here, reigniting within the royal courts. So they
- 7:02Speaker 1: can't really win here. If Harry and Meghan went to London,
- 7:06Speaker 1: they flew over to London to see Kate, some people
- 7:09Speaker 1: would say, Oh, it's got nothing to do with them,
- 7:11Speaker 1: stay away, stop coming. It's a pr stunt. That's what
- 7:15Speaker 1: they said when Harry went to visit his dad, King Charles,
- 7:19Speaker 1: after Charles disclosed that he had cancer. Now if they
- 7:23Speaker 1: went over to see Kate, the same thing would happen.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Some people would say, Oh, they're just there to get attention,
- 7:29Speaker 1: they're making this about themselves. However, if they don't go.
- 7:33Speaker 1: People will say they're heartless, they're cruel. What should they
- 7:35Speaker 1: do here? I spoke to several different PR experts friends
- 7:38Speaker 1: of mine who have worked for some of the biggest
- 7:41Speaker 1: stars in the world, and they don't agree, which shows
- 7:43Speaker 1: you how complicated this situation is. If they turn up,
- 7:46Speaker 1: yes it's a wonderful thing, but they might not be
- 7:49Speaker 1: able to get in. It's not like going home to
- 7:51Speaker 1: see your sister in law your dad, where you just
- 7:54Speaker 1: ring the doorbell and you walk in. No, you need
- 7:56Speaker 1: an appointment to get into the palace, and if these
- 7:59Speaker 1: two just up, they might not get in. How humiliating
- 8:03Speaker 1: would that be? A standing on the steps of the
- 8:06Speaker 1: palace with your suitcase in your hand and nobody opening
- 8:09Speaker 1: the door. So I don't think they're going to go
- 8:11Speaker 1: until they know that they're well wishes will be accepted,
- 8:16Speaker 1: and they don't know that until Kate or William respond
- 8:20Speaker 1: to their emails, which they've not done yet. Complicated, isn't it.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I had a falling out with my sister, but when
- 8:26Speaker 1: things went bad, I shot over to Britain and everything
- 8:30Speaker 1: suddenly was right. There's nothing like a life threatening illness
- 8:36Speaker 1: to put it all into perspective, and that's what I'm
- 8:39Speaker 1: hoping here. If there is a silver lining to this awful,
- 8:43Speaker 1: awful news, it's maybe Harry William, Kate Megan can put
- 8:48Speaker 1: it all to one side, just for a minute and
- 8:51Speaker 1: realize that they are family, that somebody here is suffering.
- 8:55Speaker 1: But it does not look good. I broke this news
- 8:59Speaker 1: over the weekend and I'm bringing it to you. It's
- 9:01Speaker 1: been picked up everywhere. Kate personally wrote that cancer speech,
- 9:06Speaker 1: so a mid mounting speculation about her health, the Princess
- 9:10Speaker 1: of Wales took swift action, personally drafting a poignant speech
- 9:15Speaker 1: addressing her recent cancer diagnosis. Kate felt compelled to address
- 9:21Speaker 1: the rumor directly, recognizing the overwhelming support from her family
- 9:26Speaker 1: and people around the world. She penned every word of
- 9:30Speaker 1: the speech herself, ensuring that it was authentic. And now
- 9:35Speaker 1: some people are saying she did the speech she only
- 9:37Speaker 1: did the speech because she was driven by trolls, not
- 9:40Speaker 1: true mindsiders are telling me that, contrary to speculation, Kate's
- 9:45Speaker 1: decision to go public with her cancer was not influenced
- 9:49Speaker 1: by online trolls, but rather the timing was carefully chosen
- 9:55Speaker 1: by Kate herself, not just the words, but the timing
- 9:58Speaker 1: was chosen by Kate herself to consider the well being
- 10:01Speaker 1: of her family and the need for privacy. With the
- 10:04Speaker 1: Easter holidays marking the start of the children's school break,
- 10:09Speaker 1: Kate strategically opted to share the news at a time
- 10:14Speaker 1: when her family could be together to process it privately.
- 10:18Speaker 1: She didn't want the kids at school when this news
- 10:20Speaker 1: came out. Children can be cruel. Everybody's watching this around
- 10:23Speaker 1: the world. She wanted the kids to be with her,
- 10:26Speaker 1: with William and so that is why she waited. And
- 10:29Speaker 1: I think we can all understand that. Over the weekend,
- 10:34Speaker 1: the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge expressed their gratitude
- 10:39Speaker 1: for the global outreach here so according to a spokesperson
- 10:43Speaker 1: at Kensington Palace, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been
- 10:48Speaker 1: profoundly touched by the heartfelt messages that are pouring in
- 10:54Speaker 1: from around the world in the UK the Commonwealth of
- 10:57Speaker 1: the world. The statement rare as follows quote. They are
- 11:02Speaker 1: extremely moved by the public's warmth and support and are
- 11:07Speaker 1: grateful for the understanding of their requests for privacy at
- 11:12Speaker 1: this time. That's a really important point in this statement.
- 11:16Speaker 1: The Palace wants us to back off to give them
- 11:20Speaker 1: some time, and so that's part of the statement. But
- 11:24Speaker 1: I think it would not be right for them not
- 11:27Speaker 1: to acknowledge the overwhelming support that Kate, that William, that
- 11:31Speaker 1: the family has received. So what's this tell me That
- 11:35Speaker 1: Kate did not expect this. Obviously, she knew it was
- 11:38Speaker 1: going to be big news. A princess, a future queen
- 11:41Speaker 1: having cancer, that's big news. But she didn't expect this.
- 11:45Speaker 1: People are lining up outside the palace, Buckingham Palace with
- 11:49Speaker 1: flowers they want to reach out to Kate. I had
- 11:53Speaker 1: some family members who went to the palace last night
- 11:55Speaker 1: and they said it was like an eerie silence. It
- 11:58Speaker 1: was really quiet around the palace as everybody stood there.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Actually reminded a friend of mine of the death of
- 12:05Speaker 1: Princess Diana, where people just turned up unannounced at Buckingham Palace.
- 12:09Speaker 1: They really wanted to buy some flowers to leave a card.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And so this is happening not only in Britain but
- 12:16Speaker 1: around the world. Okay, quickly, before we go to break
- 12:20Speaker 1: and naughty but nice exclusive, Carol Middleton has moved into
- 12:24Speaker 1: the palace amid all her concerns and she no longer
- 12:29Speaker 1: trusts the Windsors. So Carol Middleton, the mother of Kate,
- 12:33Speaker 1: has moved into the palace to stand by her daughter
- 12:37Speaker 1: as she courageously undergoes treatment for cancer. We know now
- 12:41Speaker 1: that she has been getting chemotherapy for the last month
- 12:44Speaker 1: or so, so in response to the distressing revelations, Carol,
- 12:50Speaker 1: who has chosen to remain by her daughter's side, is
- 12:53Speaker 1: offering unwaiving support and comfort to her daughter. Sources tell
- 12:59Speaker 1: me the following quote. At the end of the day,
- 13:03Speaker 1: the Middletons no longer trusts the Windsors to protect their daughter.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Carol is now the boss. She's running the show as
- 13:11Speaker 1: far as Kate is concerned, not the king. Now this
- 13:15Speaker 1: sounds shocking, doesn't it, And that statement it's a lot,
- 13:19Speaker 1: But I do understand this. If I were sick, if
- 13:22Speaker 1: I had cancer, my mom would be by my side immediately.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I think if you have children, if you have parents
- 13:28Speaker 1: that are still with us, you know exactly what I
- 13:31Speaker 1: am talking about. And there is some validity here to
- 13:35Speaker 1: be worried about the Windsors. They just have not been
- 13:38Speaker 1: good at this. Megan Markle said that she had tremendous
- 13:42Speaker 1: trouble in the family. When she went to them telling
- 13:45Speaker 1: them she had suicidal thoughts, they didn't really respond. Princess
- 13:49Speaker 1: Diana has said this too as an institution. As to
- 13:53Speaker 1: the firm, they're not good at these personal crisis moments,
- 13:59Speaker 1: and that's why Kate needs her mom Carol there. I
- 14:02Speaker 1: really welcome this. I hope Carol and her husband William
- 14:06Speaker 1: are working together with one purpose here to get Kate
- 14:10Speaker 1: into a good place physically mentally. She's going to need
- 14:15Speaker 1: all the support she can get. It's lovely having people
- 14:18Speaker 1: around the world, strangers reaching out, but at the end
- 14:22Speaker 1: of the day, when you're not well, you want your family,
- 14:25Speaker 1: you want your mom, you want your partner, you want
- 14:27Speaker 1: your friends. I'm told Kate's friends have been brilliant here,
- 14:31Speaker 1: really protecting her, really being with her. I'm sure she
- 14:34Speaker 1: feels a relief that now the secret is out. She
- 14:37Speaker 1: told it on her own terms. She didn't tell it
- 14:39Speaker 1: until her kids were home from school, and now the
- 14:43Speaker 1: secret is out and a lot of people, including Andy
- 14:46Speaker 1: Cohen and Kim Kardashian have egg on their faces. Okay,
- 14:51Speaker 1: we're going to take a quick break and we will
- 14:52Speaker 1: be right back. Welcome back to the Naughty Boot night show.
- 14:57Speaker 1: I'm your host, Rob Shooter, continuing with our Kate Middle
- 15:00Speaker 1: and Special. Okay, let's get to the polls. DA last show,
- 15:05Speaker 1: we announced it was our whole question before we realized
- 15:09Speaker 1: that Kate had cancer, that Meghan Michael had hired a
- 15:12Speaker 1: top photographer to take the photographs of Archie and Lillibut.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Our question was is this a coincidence or is this shady?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Was Meghan doing this because of all the drama about
- 15:24Speaker 1: the Mother's Day photograph, the artificially digitally enhanced photoshopped photograph.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Now Meghan's going to take a picture of her kids.
- 15:34Speaker 1: She's going to be in the picture. Do for this
- 15:36Speaker 1: one isn't gonna be photoshop. This is going to be
- 15:38Speaker 1: taken by a top photographer. What do you think coincidence
- 15:41Speaker 1: or shady? Let's have a look. Oh, eighty five percent
- 15:45Speaker 1: think it is shady. The timing of this is just
- 15:48Speaker 1: so off old Meghan. I'm with the Nortise. Don't forget
- 15:52Speaker 1: to vote on today's Paul will go to a Twitter
- 15:54Speaker 1: page at Naughty Nice Rob or a Facebook page which
- 15:58Speaker 1: is Naughty Gossip and to check back tomorrow to hear
- 16:03Speaker 1: your results. And now it's time for a nicest of
- 16:08Speaker 1: the day m King Charles visited Kate Middleton in his
- 16:13Speaker 1: dressing gown after surgery when both of them ended up
- 16:17Speaker 1: in the same hospital. So despite his own health concerns,
- 16:20Speaker 1: including his treatment for an enlarged prostate, King Charles made
- 16:25Speaker 1: regular visits to Kate at the London Clinic following her surgery.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Witnesses have described him as quote toddling in a dressing
- 16:36Speaker 1: robe down the hospital hallway to offer support to his
- 16:40Speaker 1: daughter in law. The Times of London very respected, is
- 16:45Speaker 1: highlighting the closeness between King Charles and Kate Middleton. This
- 16:49Speaker 1: was on display when they were both both in the
- 16:53Speaker 1: same hospital. Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles has
- 16:57Speaker 1: maintained close contact with Kate in the weeks since their hospitalization.
- 17:02Speaker 1: I'm told they are talking all the time. The visual
- 17:06Speaker 1: the King quote toddling down the hallway in a dressing robe.
- 17:10Speaker 1: He wanted to see Kate. He knew she was in
- 17:13Speaker 1: the hospital, he found out about her diagnosis and he
- 17:16Speaker 1: wanted to be there for her, despite the fact that
- 17:19Speaker 1: he has cancer himself. And nicest of the day and
- 17:24Speaker 1: now I noticed the daydy naughty, naughty critics out there
- 17:28Speaker 1: are slamming Prince William over the fact that Kate made
- 17:31Speaker 1: her cancer video by herself. They're even drawing comparisons to
- 17:36Speaker 1: the famous iconic Princess Diana tajh my Whole photograph. So
- 17:42Speaker 1: the criticism directed at William for not being by Kate's
- 17:45Speaker 1: side during the cancer announcement video has really taken me
- 17:49Speaker 1: back by surprise so much comparing it to Princess Diana's
- 17:52Speaker 1: iconic shot outside the taj Mahal, implying that William was
- 17:57Speaker 1: absent from his wife's side like Charles was absent from Diana's.
- 18:02Speaker 1: This is nonsense. Insiders tell me Kate's decision was to
- 18:06Speaker 1: do it alone. It was not William's decision. It was
- 18:09Speaker 1: Kate's decision. They had this conversation what should it look
- 18:12Speaker 1: like visually? After all the missteps with the Mother's Day photograph,
- 18:16Speaker 1: they wanted this to be Kate. She was at Windsor
- 18:18Speaker 1: they filmed it on Wednesday of last week, and she
- 18:21Speaker 1: wanted to tell her story by herself. There was talk
- 18:24Speaker 1: about putting the kids in the in the picture in
- 18:26Speaker 1: the frame, but that's very distracting young children. They were
- 18:29Speaker 1: going to have William sit next to her, holding her hand,
- 18:31Speaker 1: but they also decided to know this wasn't his moment,
- 18:34Speaker 1: it was hers. Kate wanted to do this by herself.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I think it was a beautiful image to put her
- 18:39Speaker 1: outside on a bench with the daffodils behind her. It
- 18:43Speaker 1: was a brilliant, brilliant, brilliant image. I'm glad they didn't
- 18:46Speaker 1: put her in a tiara or a crown. I'm glad
- 18:48Speaker 1: she was casual in jeans and a stripee sweater. I
- 18:51Speaker 1: think it was just perfect. And those that are criticizing
- 18:53Speaker 1: William about this shirt up, Okay, let's end with a
- 18:57Speaker 1: moment of rob. You get a rob, you get a rob,
- 18:59Speaker 1: you get a right today's moment of Rob. I want
- 19:02Speaker 1: to explain why this story is so big. And I've
- 19:04Speaker 1: been criticized too for talking about Kate. Some of you
- 19:08Speaker 1: want me to just leave her alone, to not talk
- 19:10Speaker 1: about her, and I just wanted to have a quick
- 19:11Speaker 1: conversation about that about personal privacy versus public service. So
- 19:17Speaker 1: the situation around Kate has raised lots of important questions
- 19:21Speaker 1: about the balance between privacy and public service and obligations
- 19:26Speaker 1: for members of the monarchy. On the one hand, the
- 19:29Speaker 1: Palace asserts that family members should have some level of
- 19:32Speaker 1: privacy despite their roles as public servants. However, this clashes
- 19:38Speaker 1: with the expectations of many who feel entitled to a
- 19:41Speaker 1: certain amount of access to the Royal Family, especially considering
- 19:46Speaker 1: the significant financial support they get from taxpayers. Now, historically
- 19:51Speaker 1: there is a precedent here. Queen Victoria temporarily withdrew from
- 19:55Speaker 1: public life after the death of her husband, and Queen
- 19:58Speaker 1: Elizabeth had the famous motto I have to be seen
- 20:02Speaker 1: to be believed, underscoring the importance of a public presence
- 20:07Speaker 1: for maintaining public support. Now, ultimately, the Royal Family, like
- 20:12Speaker 1: any any other individual, should be entitled to a period
- 20:17Speaker 1: of sick leave. However, who are amongst us as naughties
- 20:21Speaker 1: here who can disappear from their job for months and
- 20:25Speaker 1: not tell their boss what is going on. Some people
- 20:29Speaker 1: here would argue that the boss of Kate Middleton of
- 20:31Speaker 1: the Royal family is the public. I know we've got
- 20:35Speaker 1: different opinions about this, and I promise you we will
- 20:38Speaker 1: cover this topic with decency, with kindness towards Kate. If
- 20:43Speaker 1: you feel like we haven't done that in the past,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm truly truly sorry. It was not my intention. We
- 20:49Speaker 1: love celebrities. Here, we are naughty, but we are ultimately nice,
