- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you for joining us.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you for having me.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Keisha, you're popping in the streets.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're popping, Keisha.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And I met you just from seeing your content.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Like I don't, I don't even think at that time I was following you.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: I was just seeing some content.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So I went deep deep diving a little bit.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, man, Keisha, you got it going on.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Like consistency, good message.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And I reached out.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: You didn't know who I was, and you like, I'm here.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely had to show up.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: I appreciate you for having me.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Um, I really want to just highlight like current purpose.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: It serves so many things.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: So I'm happy to like talk through that today with you.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: Explain a little about what really, you know, how we got to where we are today.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're going, I want to know how it came about, what is it?
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: We're going deep.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Let me read this bio first.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: This is what the streets are saying.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: You haven't heard this, by the way.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Like this is this this is, you know, your first time hearing this.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So let me know if we need to change anything or if we hit the mark.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: It says, today's guest is a powerhouse of intentionality and a true architect of community.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Keisha, known to her growing audience as her own purpose, is a dedicated advocate for women who are ready to stop drifting and start living with a clear, defined mission.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Keisha's platform isn't just about inspiration, it's about infrastructure.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Through her Her On Purpose brand, she creates spaces, both digital and physical, where women can reconcile their faith, their personal goals, and their professional ambitions.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: She is a master of the hard truth, consistently proving that true transformation only happens when you are willing to get honest with yourself about your starting point.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Whether she's hosting, empowering workshops, curating high-energy content, or dropping gems of wisdom on social media, Keisha moves with a service over ego mantra that makes everyone around her want to level up.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: She's a social worker in her own right, connecting women to the resources, confidence, and community that need to scale their own stories.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Ladies and gentlemen, Keisha.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: Wow, let's wait.
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we can clock that up.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: We can clock that up.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: They do.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you feel me?
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: We can get into it.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Great job.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: Maybe hearing that it just gave me chill bumps because it it described me, I think, and what the mission is behind her on purpose.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: So you you respond on.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, thank I appreciate that.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Listen.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: That's very that's awesome.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: I had the easy part.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Like this is you, you're living it out.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: And I just made a post yesterday talking about on this show, we love to give people their flowers because I don't know.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: You know, sometimes you get so in the grind that you don't stop and realize, like, oh yeah, bro, this is me.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I am, I am doing this.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: You know, so when you hear this about yourself, what are some of those things that come to mind?
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Like, what's the first thing that stands out to you when you hear something like this?
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: The first thing that came to mind was like, man, I really thriving in my purpose.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: Um, I think to me, I'm just out doing the work.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: And so, like hearing it back, you said it really well.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Like, you don't often give yourself the flowers.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: You often just, you know, you're on the path.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: You know, a lot of times you don't hear or see yourself.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: And so truly, it's just a testament of like my journey.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: And so I think when hearing that, first thing that comes to mind is like I've arrived to the purpose and I feel like where God has called me to be.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: And clearly it's being recognized in that way.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 3:53SPEAKER_02: I feel like I'm on the right path.
- 3:55SPEAKER_02: So that's I think that is the only thing.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that I can actually, when listening to that, connect with myself.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: It's like I'm I'm I'm there.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: Not a I'm not uh let me take that back.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: I'm steadily growing.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but I'm on the right path.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: No, you what you're saying is you're walking in alignment.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And I was talking to my homie the other day.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: I'm like, man, there is no feeling better than being where you need to be.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: You might not have the Maserati, you might not be in the mansion, but like if you know this is where God has me and I'm aligned, there is no feeling better than that.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: There's no feeling better than that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: Because it's ultimately what I am doing.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: We may be, you know, getting the recognition, but it's unlocking something for someone else.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: That's what it's rooted in.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: It's like what I'm being able to go and do is kind of help thousands of other people get on a path.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: And that's, I think, the reward from all of it.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: So I'm blessed, you know, I'm grateful that I am now, but truly it's for the people.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: It's for the women that need it.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: And so if it's being recognized in that way, then we we're we're in alignment.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: I want to hear about her on purpose and how it came about.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: But before we get there, who are you, Keisha?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Where do you come from?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Like, take us back as far as you feel comfortable.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And and let us know.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Upbringing.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Like, okay.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Cause when I hear you speak, there are two things that stand out.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: One thing is purpose, and then the other thing is this pay it forward mentality.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So there are elements of community, and I have a responsibility of service.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And those things don't just happen.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Like they have to come from somewhere.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: So let it so give us upbringing.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: All right, let's get into it.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: So I'm Keisha.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: We know we did the introductions, but like really, when you see me, you don't see like I grew up in Memphis.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: And if you know what Memphis is, I grew up in a rough city, right?
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: So I'm from the from the hood.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Memphis, Memphis.
- 5:51SPEAKER_02: Memphis, Memphis, North Memphis, to be exact.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: But coming from Memphis, like it was really, it's really an environment where they even gonna sink or swim.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Not a lot of people make it out of Memphis in a successful way.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Um, so I truly never really understood anything other than how to survive, like as a young woman.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Um, and so Memphis really taught me like the core of who I am, and that's just the grit, the grind.
- 6:17SPEAKER_02: But it also taught me like to appreciate what I had.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: And so growing up in Memphis, you know, I'm a uh daughter of a pastor.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: So my dad was was pastoring, you know, all of my life growing up.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: And so I got to watch him run a ministry through Memphis at the same time.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Pops.
- 6:38SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I grew up in a mixed household where I had brothers in the streets, you know, so I got to see everything.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Everything I got to see the good and the bad and the ugly.
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: And so trying to navigate Memphis or trying to find purpose was always a challenge for me.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: And so at some point, you know, through school, um, in relationships, I started having children and single mom.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: Um, and so I think a testament of where I am today is just knowing two things I need to do.
- 7:08SPEAKER_02: One, I need to be successful for my family in order to provide provide for them.
- 7:13SPEAKER_02: Um, and two, um, I need to be able to make it out of Memphis one way or another.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: And so I started getting into strategy of like, how am I gonna do this?
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: Because you truly don't know anything else when you're growing up around all of the things that truly keep you anchored in poverty.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Can we shout out to the single moms real quick?
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Shout out to the single moms.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: We gotta shout out to all the moms out there, moms in general, but particularly the single moms.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Like my my mom raised us, she it was three of us on my mom's side, and for years it was just her and us.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: And you know, as a mom, there's so much pressure.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: It is to do what you're supposed to do, make sure your your kids don't have to worry about certain things.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And so life was lit for us.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Like I didn't realize, you know what I'm saying, that this year mom made$8,000 gross, you know what I'm saying, to take care of three kids.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Three kids.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And so I used to, you know what I'm saying, just really enjoy certain stuff.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: But now that I'm older, you know, I would never forget a conversation I just have with my mom.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Every now and then I'll call her and be like, mom, thank you for the sacrifice.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I'm growing now, bruh.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Bills be high.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Bills are high.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: Food is high.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: Like you understand.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: So I'll be calling my mom, like, mom, thank you so much.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Woo whoop.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: And Keisha, one day she said, it was a pleasure, and I'd do it again.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: But it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't wish single parenthood are my worst enemy.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: On she is so right.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: Let me explain something to you.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: You don't get a break.
- 8:45SPEAKER_02: You don't have anybody to come in and shift and switch with you, right?
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: It's all you the end of the day for your children.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: And so, like to be up against that with like the world and how everything is going, even thinking 10 years ago, however long ago, being a single mom is a lot of pressure.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: And so as a woman, you know, you have at that point a certain amount of choices that you can make, a few choices.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: And so for me, I figured like this was it, right?
- 9:15SPEAKER_02: And so, like, I was a single parent.
- 9:16SPEAKER_02: Keisha was a single mom, Section 8, government assistance in the theme of like what you're pointed to go and do.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: So I feel like you know, being a single mom is just really it's it's a challenge.
- 9:30SPEAKER_02: And so uh yeah, your mother is right.
- 9:33SPEAKER_02: We wouldn't want to waste it on anyone, like that's still that is not a good position to be in.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: And so to then have, and then you're a young man, right?
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: And so to I have boys to be a single mom raising young man, that's an that's another, another, you know, category of sure.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: But um in all of that, for me, I really understood you gotta make it out.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Is not it.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: And so I started really working really hard on just my core career, um, you know, finding jobs, education, things like that that can help propel me and family.
- 10:08SPEAKER_02: And that's what I did.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: And so um at some point, you know, I started working for uh retailer and you know, just took my journey.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: They took me all around the world.
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: And that's kind of how I literally, literally moved myself out of uh Memphis.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: But in that, um, I think as a woman, if we can just focus on like women in the day-to-day of you know what we face, you know, I feel like everything that I've gone through from single mom to relationships to having to like pay the bills on my own and you know, just dealing with all types of things, I felt like I became a really good candidate to be an advocate.
- 10:46SPEAKER_02: But it wasn't like really um a choice.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: I started like at some point, like seeing myself on the stage.
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: I was having dreams.
- 10:56SPEAKER_02: Um, and there were visions coming to me through my life over the last, I would say, 10, 15 years while I'm going through the struggle of me seeing myself helping other people.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: I couldn't connect it back then.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: And so I just focused on, you know, continue to show up at work, do things.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: And so at some point, I'm like, these things keep showing back up to me.
- 11:21SPEAKER_02: What is this?
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Um as mentioned earlier, I grew up in a Christian household.
- 11:26unknown: Right.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: So there was always God included.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: I always went and been in church and established a relationship with God alongside of all of the things.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: And I felt like that was always what I was going back to and praying, God, show me what your purpose is for me.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: And then I could never see it.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: It took, I moved to Bentonville, and and that was probably the best thing I did because before then um there were so many distractions.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: Atlanta.
- 11:54SPEAKER_02: So I moved from Memphis, Tennessee, um, in about um and I lived in Atlanta for like six years.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: And in Atlanta, if you know Atlanta, it's plenty of things to do.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 12:07SPEAKER_02: Um you know, so I just really focused on my career still.
- 12:12SPEAKER_02: Um, and then ultimately I got an opportunity, probably like four years ago, maybe five, to go to Womany Balls.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: And it's basically a conference where Sarah Jake's Roberts, uh, she brings out like so many women, and you come there, and I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but somebody told me to go.
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: Um, and it was just like a really eye-opening experience that taught me and really showed me myself for the first time.
- 12:38SPEAKER_02: And I was able in that moment, through like their preaching and stories and unpacking of generational trauma and all the things where I really saw full circle.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, God, I see what you're trying to say.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: And so I really continue to put the work in on myself.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: It took a lot of internal work.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: What do you mean it showed you yourself?
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: Um, meaning, so throughout the years, like I would see myself envisions that I felt like I wasn't worthy of.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: Meaning, um, you're showing me something that I would never be able to achieve.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: So it doesn't even make sense for me.
- 13:17SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm just a single mom.
- 13:19SPEAKER_02: So like that doesn't make sense for who what I'm saying.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, this might be the wrong person, guy.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: Like what?
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That it makes no sense because I was a person who like I got saved, but before then, it's just, you know, you're out, you're hanging out, you are in the worldly things.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: I'll just sum it up to that.
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: I never saw myself in a position to then be mentoring and providing guidance to women who were like me because I was one of them.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: You get what I'm saying?
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: So to see myself full circle at Woman Evolved, I saw what God was trying to show me of you know, this need to be.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: And so I saw that through Sarah Jakes Roberts and her story, and then I saw it through many of the other speakers, and the whole event is amazing.
- 14:10SPEAKER_02: So I recommend that any any woman looking to kind of grow or just don't know, go to that.
- 14:15SPEAKER_02: Um, I give away tickets every year, but um, it's an amazing event.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: But what it did for me was to unlock a new level where I was able to finally clearly see where God was trying to take me.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: And even at that moment, I didn't know how I was getting there, but I knew what needed to be done.
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: So I kind of just continued to focus on myself, and then I started to come up with these ideas of like, okay, what can I do now to kind of deploy some things to the community?
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: And and it we just went from there.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Her own purpose was born, and and it was it was it was look, it took off.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it took off.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: When you say it was born, what are you envisioning at the beginning?
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Like what like her own purpose starts?
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: Are y'all meeting weekly?
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Is it a is it just a social?
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like how did you so I I made a mistake uh when I first got like when I started getting visions of myself and like it was like a community.
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: It was like me leading these women, and we would meet up, you know, virtually, and also I would have groups in different cities, and we would come together and just focus on like core topics for ourselves, and then we can go out um and help the community give back to other women and like host workshops, and then we could do like we could bring in business years.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: And so it started out as like this community focused around bringing women together who were like me, yeah, single moms, women that just didn't know what they needed and they kind of needed some boosting.
- 15:52SPEAKER_02: And so it started off in a vision like that.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: But I kind of spoke the same way to a friend, and the friend told me, no, that ain't it.
- 16:01SPEAKER_02: So it kind of shut me down for a few months until the vision kept coming back.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Y'all still friends?
- 16:06SPEAKER_02: No.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: I need something to sip too.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: No, we're not.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Um, but hopefully they can see now like the vision that's coming to life.
- 16:18SPEAKER_02: But um with that, I when I don't let me stop.
- 16:23SPEAKER_02: When God sends you a vision, yeah, you gotta be able to accept it and learn not how to communicate it out because everybody's not going to be able to see it.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: I'm glad you took it there.
- 16:33SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: So that's something that I live to learn.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: One more time, Keisha, because somebody back there ain't listening to this part right here.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: One time.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: One more time.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: Anytime God sends you a vision, right?
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Do not communicate it.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: Because the vision that God is giving you is gonna be way bigger than even you can understand, but definitely whoever you're speaking to.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: So they're gonna cancel out that plan, right?
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: They're gonna speak negatively on it, and you won't even know that that's the way the enemy is working to kind of stop you.
- 17:07SPEAKER_02: Because he listened if Voter, Akisha, we gotta take it there.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: This is what the folks need to hear.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: If you accomplish that thing that God has given you and put inside of you, you're gonna bless so many people.
- 17:22SPEAKER_02: Um and that's not where the enemy wants you to go.
- 17:24SPEAKER_02: So, like, it's really important to make sure you keep it to yourself.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: You don't you don't share that today?
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: Maybe it was this morning, it could have been yesterday, something came in my spirit.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Protect the promise.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: You have to protect the promise.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: The promise.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Because if it like you said, if now if you would have succumbed to that the temptation to give up.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: If when your friend told you, like Keisha, no, I don't see it, that ain't never gonna work.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: It's it's this year and folks don't trust nobody no more.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: What make you think you can do, then this would have never happened.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: That would have been the seed.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: That would have been the seed that that caused everything to, you know, dry up and wither.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: So it's important.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: And luckily, God said, Let me keep working on her.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: He kept sending me visions, and I was like, no, I think there's something here because it keeps coming back.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: And it's very clear of like me speaking to women on the stage or like things that I wasn't doing.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:21SPEAKER_02: So, you know, first and foremost, like that to me, I think was really what kept me going back and being curious about what that thing was.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: So when God send you something, most of the time it's contrary to your natural thought pattern.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: In my experience.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: So, like for you, it's like, wait a second, how I'm gonna be on stage, like I don't even know how to talk to folks in front of a state.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: Or like, I like I'm not even on there right now.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: Who are these people?
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah.
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to go see Beyonce in concert.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: That part, right?
- 18:52SPEAKER_02: That's not what I focused on right now.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: So like I think it kept me grounded in the reality of where God was trying to take me.
- 18:59SPEAKER_02: And truth be told, there could have been several things and roadblocks along the way.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: Um, but it's it it actually happened because I stayed consistent against all odds.
- 19:11SPEAKER_02: And so even now, like it's it's it's it's consistency and like going back to do the video or make the time to talk to the individual and reached out, or make the time to spend time with the let you know, the community.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: Um, so I I think for me that's been helpful.
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but it started out as just a community focused and then eventually it became okay, no, we gotta start talking about Jesus a little bit.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: So it transformed over time from not only um and I call it buckets, like we have buckets where we focus on women and their development.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we focus on young girls and you know, giving them skills to equip them to go and be whatever they would like to be and be successful.
- 20:01SPEAKER_02: Um, and then we have this bucket of like, let's go to Bible study, because ultimately this bucket is gonna help drive all the other things.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: Incorporating God into that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Um, was a big piece.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So Keisha, I feel like we need to put an applause right here.
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's yeah, like that's one thing I've seen you do really well, and and with my my limited knowledge of you, I can even feel it in this conversation.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: You do a really good job of connecting the digital world and your actual reality.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: And I think you integrate them both well.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: I got a friend of mine, his name is we call him King Pip.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: That's that's just his nickname.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: But I was telling him on an episode, like the person that you see online is the person you meet in person.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Oh, yes.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: And that's that's tough to do sometimes.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: It's really challenging, you know what I mean?
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: But I feel like you do that.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: And I'm curious, how were you able to build this digital world, you know, when now things is shallow and they're superficial and folks don't really care.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: They just doing whatever.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Like, how were you able to take her on purpose from being solely uh in-person, you know, connection to creating this space now, this community now that's online that still has that same level of intentionality and genuineness?
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: How were you able to do that?
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: Really great question.
- 21:26SPEAKER_02: I think overall, one being authentic to what my core purpose is in the whole thing.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Because first, I will be clear and say, I didn't go out and say, I want a social media following.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: No, that was never the goal.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: I just focused on the community.
- 21:44SPEAKER_02: Let me create an event.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: Like I think I did a vision board party here.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Let me get people out, you know, of their element and kind of start ministering to these women.
- 21:53SPEAKER_02: Um, so I started with just being on focused on the core thing and posting about it, right?
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: And in that, um, having an intentional post around what God is placing on my heart.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: Um, and then now, now that there is a social media following, there's consistency.
- 22:12SPEAKER_02: I need to make sure I'm posting because it's reaching someone that needs it.
- 22:16SPEAKER_02: I'm looking at comments and you know, feedback and I'm reaching people in Africa, like all over the world, reaching out to me saying, What you just said touched me.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: So that's what is fueling the post.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: I'm not posting just to get the follower, yeah.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: Just to connect with the person that needs to help.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: So I know I'm doing that when I'm speaking, and I may do it in a funny way or tensuate to get the attention.
- 22:41SPEAKER_02: But the goal is to achieve, at the end of the day, I told you something that you're gonna go back, you're gonna think about it.
- 22:48SPEAKER_02: It's gonna marinate and just to see.
- 22:51SPEAKER_02: So I think that to me and is important and just being who I am.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: So if I get off track or out of tune, if you see a post, it's like, okay, I'm trying to do something that that is not in alignment with what you know I'm focusing on.
- 23:06SPEAKER_02: But I think it's rooted in um just having a plan to be very vocal about what God is placing on me.
- 23:15SPEAKER_02: And sometimes I'm like, I don't want to, like, I don't want to make a video today.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And it happens because people inbox me and be like, I haven't seen a post in a while.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Like people are following me looking for me.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: So it's it's bigger than than than me.
- 23:31SPEAKER_02: Um how I knew it took off is because I have like real celebrities try me in, like Tamar follows me, Tamar Bracky.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Um, Clarissa Shields like the post.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: Like we can go Kelly Rowland like something.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Like I I could take that and share all of those things, but I don't because it's not about that.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: It's like the content's reaching people that I may never meet, but the purpose is there.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: So I think it's being authentic with what God is you know telling you to do and listen.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: Like you have to listen, like ultimately, if you're in alignment with him, everything else will come.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: And I hope that makes sense because no, it makes here's the thing, Keisha.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Sometimes what we want is we want a different answer.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: You do, you know what I'm saying?
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we want a different answer.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: We want you to tell us, like, oh, if you do this and then do that and put a little seasoning over here, then all of a sudden it's gonna hit.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: But like all I hear you saying is the main thing stayed the main thing.
- 24:37SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 24:38SPEAKER_00: Trusted what you were being deposited, and you followed up on it.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: And show up authentically and you like that's it.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Real people love real like content that's authentic.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: Like, that's just the truth.
- 24:51SPEAKER_02: And so when you find the rhythm in posting, which you should be posting at least, I say three times a day, but at minimum.
- 24:58SPEAKER_02: At minimum, um, connecting with your audience so they're craving that content, but you need to also just be making sure that you're being authentic um and in every post.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: It's really important.
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: Um, uh you could be making content about anything.
- 25:16SPEAKER_02: You can leave a camera recording, like you can build content.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Authentic piece.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Just here go my question.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Because you and you're giving us some gems, Keisha.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: You you cooking right now.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Here is what I find is a challenge.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: A compliment that I give people in 2026 is man, you feel like a real human.
- 25:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: Which that shouldn't be a compliment.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Like we all should be, but you know, because we are so inundated with data and information and the social systems that we set up.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: If this this post don't get a thousand likes, I don't even feel no, you know what I mean?
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: That my whole day ruined.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: So but you talk about being authentic.
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: I feel like we're similar in in stage of life and maybe even generation, is what I'm trying to say.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: But our generation gets it a little bit tough, I feel like, because we were introduced to social media as social media was growing up.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: So when so when social media first came out, it was a highlight reel.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: It was only to show my polished best bit on snap.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: I gotta get the stain up, I gotta edit them.
- 26:23SPEAKER_00: You see what I'm saying?
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:24SPEAKER_00: And and so that's what we were taught to do.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: But like you're saying, it's the opposite now.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: Like now, the more polished, buttoned up, like people see right through that and they don't want to see it.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: They don't want to see it.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: They want to see the real deal.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: So, how do we, as people who have been taught, oh, you gotta show your best self and nobody want to see the vulnerable moment?
- 26:45SPEAKER_00: Like, how do we flip that switch and be authentic?
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: Like that, and I'm just gonna be real with you, Keisha.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: That's something I I still learn.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Like, how do you show up and be authentic on social media?
- 26:56SPEAKER_02: You do want, so you do want good content, you want people to follow you, you want to be able to have a purpose when posting.
- 27:03SPEAKER_02: You will find your people, right?
- 27:05SPEAKER_02: Your people will find you.
- 27:06SPEAKER_02: If people are not following you, you will find the group that will.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: You stamp that.
- 27:10SPEAKER_02: But I I stamp and approve.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:13SPEAKER_02: Um, I think that you have to be okay with yourself.
- 27:18SPEAKER_02: And I say that in the most basic way because if you are focused too much on how you look, how you sound, oh, do I have on the right shirt?
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: Let me get the lighting correct.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: None of that matters.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: Just be yourself.
- 27:31SPEAKER_02: But you first, before even getting to social media, you gotta be okay with you.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: You gotta be okay with how you show up.
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: You can't, you can't confident.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: Like you as an internal person, like when that's when if you're too focused on it being right, you'll never be ready.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: Just do it and be authentic to what who God created you to be.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: You are that way for a reason.
- 27:58SPEAKER_02: You have these gifts for a reason.
- 28:00SPEAKER_02: Quit trying to polish them up, like just be yourself.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: So I think that's the best advice I can give anyone is accept who you are.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: And if you're not exactly where you want to be, then that's okay.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Keep working, but don't alter yourself to fit into someone else's story because it's just not who God is calling you to be.
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: So that's the best thing that you could do.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Keisha working, we follow you, support you.
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know, drop your Venmo, okay?
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: Like plug everything you need to plug right now, Keisha.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: And I feel like we need to do a part two.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: I already feel like that because I got so many good.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: We need to do a part two, we need to run it back.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: We could we could set that up later, but sincerely, you gotta be okay with yourself first.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Like that's that's it.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: That's baseline.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: It's the basics.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Where can we follow you and keep up with you?
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: And what's what's going on with you?
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Get plug everything right now.
- 28:55SPEAKER_02: Follow me on Her on Purpose on Instagram.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: You can go to our website, it's her on purpose.net.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: Go to that website.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Um, right now we're really focusing on um our next big thing.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: Um, it's a Bible and brunch.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: So I'll be posting that information.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: Um, we're also starting a Bible club.
- 29:11SPEAKER_02: So, like a study club.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: I'm looking for women all around the world.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: Um, my following is huge.
- 29:17SPEAKER_02: And so it's gonna be some virtual components to that.
- 29:19SPEAKER_02: But really, just follow me um and tap in if you have any questions or needs, because truly, what her on purpose is for is for the woman who needs development in any way.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: And so that's why I'm here.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: And so I'm a resource for those women, the single moms, the women who are doing well in their career, but maybe stuck.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: That's what we do with her on purpose.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: I love to contact, you know, connect with you guys.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: How can we support you?
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: What do you need from us?
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: Share my just share, share our posts, um, show up to the events, right?
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: Um, and if you don't want to show up to the event, share it with someone who might.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: Um, someone, if you're not ready, right?
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: Um, send it to someone who may follow or need it.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: You may be hearing this and be thinking about somebody else that needs it.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: So share it.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: Keisha, thank you for your time.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: This was a great conversation.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Yes, it was.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: I enjoyed it so much.
- 30:14SPEAKER_02: Thanks for having me.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: We'll see you next time.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: All right.
