Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Reparenting Radio.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I'm Lisa Watson, Architect of Human Transformation.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: This is a space for leaders, parents, and anyone ready to break old patterns, regulate their nervous system, and show up in their life with clarity and self-trust.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: If you're ready to change the way you lead, love, and live, you're in the right place.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Let's begin.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: Hey friends, welcome back to Reparenting Radio.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Today I want to talk about something that I believe is becoming increasingly more and more important, and that is this feeling that people are having of apathy, disconnection, and just not feeling like their usual selves.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Clients tell me often, I don't know what's happening to me.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: My old life doesn't fit anymore, or I feel like I've just changed and I'm questioning everything.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: I don't seem to care about the things that I used to care about anymore.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I don't want to keep chasing money.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: I don't want to continue with this hustle culture.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: I don't want to stay busy just to stay busy anymore.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I'm looking for something more meaningful.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: I'm looking for something simpler.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: And nowadays all I want is peace.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I can completely relate because I have been feeling it too for many, many years.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And maybe you have also.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: In fact, I did a video about it a couple years ago about this feeling that I had about just feeling, you know, like, eh, and I had no motivation to do anything.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And that video got over three million views, and it still gets comments every day about how people can relate to it.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: So I know that it's something that's really happening out there, and I want to shed some light on it.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Because maybe you've noticed that yourself that you're becoming less interested in impressing people or less interested in keeping up with the Joneses or trying to prove yourself to anyone.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've even started questioning relationships that once felt completely normal.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Maybe you woke up and realized I'm just not comfortable here anymore.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And maybe success doesn't look the way that it used to.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're craving slower mornings or more time outside, less noise, less drama, less consumption.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Maybe you've started asking yourself questions like, who am I if I stop trying to make everyone else happy?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Or why doesn't the life I've worked so hard to build actually feel fulfilling to me anymore?
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Or what if I've been living someone else's definition of success?
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: If any of those resonate, I want you to know something.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: You're absolutely not alone.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Trust me, 35,000 people commented on my video, so I know you're not alone.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And I certainly don't think you're broken, because we know that that's not the case.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: We're patterned, we're not broken.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: But I think that something else is changing.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: And depending on who you ask, you'll hear very different explanations.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Psychology has one, neuroscience has another, spiritual traditions have one.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Some people describe it as an awakening, some call it a collective shift in consciousness.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Others talk about the age of Aquarius.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Some point to increasing solar activity or the planets and stars arranging in a way that they haven't for decades.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Others find meaning in the Schumann resonance, and it spikes to explain how it is that they're feeling.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: And personally, I resonate with the idea that we're living through a collective shift in consciousness.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: I find perspectives like the Age of Aquarius, increasing solar activity and the Schumann resonance meaningful as part of that picture, personally.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: And you may see it differently, and that's okay.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: You might explain what's happening through psychology, neuroscience, spirituality, another aspect of your faith, or simply life experience.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: But what interests me most isn't convincing people which explanation is right, because I don't need I don't need anyone to agree.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: But what interests me is that regardless of the language that we use, more and more people seem to be asking the same questions.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Who am I beneath the conditioning?
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Why doesn't my old life fit anymore?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And why do I feel like I'm becoming someone different?
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: And as I've been thinking about it, I've realized that for the last decade, I have immersed myself into childhood development, the subconscious mind, nervous system regulation, human behavior, trauma and patterns.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: And I've worked with parents, I've worked with couples and leaders and people trying to heal relationships, people trying to heal themselves.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: And at the very same time, I've been doing the same thing with myself.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: We can call it shadow hunting, I guess.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: That resonates with some.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: I've always been deeply curious about consciousness, ancient wisdom traditions, quantum ideas, astrology, and just you know, the bigger questions of why we're here.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: For a long time, since I was a young teenager, actually.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And I've been able to kind of keep those, you know, my two worlds separate, my spiritual world and and my just regular day-to-day living world.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: And the reason I have is honestly because it just felt safer, safer for the marriage that I was in, safer for the level of um understanding of the people who I discuss these topics with.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: It was better just to kind of keep it to myself for many, many decades, actually.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: One world felt accepted, evidence-based, professional.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: I could share it.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And the other, well, people tend to get uncomfortable, and maybe that's understandable when you're talking about things that are on the fringe.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: But lately I have found myself asking a different question.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: What if they aren't separate at all?
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: What if they're simply different languages describing different aspects of the same transformation?
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Because whether we're talking about neuroscience or awakening, the invitation feels remarkably similar.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Become curious.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Notice the unconscious programs you've been living from.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Notice the stories you've inherited.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Return to who you were before fear convinced you that you had to become someone else.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: That's the work that I've dedicated my life to.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Not because I want everyone to believe what I believe, but because I've watched hundreds of people transform when they become aware of the subconscious pattern shaping their lives.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: Every single day over the past several weeks, I've been posting something I call one minute of awareness.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And every day is a different pattern.
- 8:24SPEAKER_00: People pleasing, overexplaining, conflict avoidance, reassurance seeking, fear of rejection, the need to control outcomes.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And every single day people leave comments saying, Oh, I thought that was just my personality, or wow, that fascinates me, or thank you so much for these videos.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: This really helps.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Because what we often believe is our personality is actually a pattern, a brilliant adaptation our nervous system learned to help us survive a particular emotional environment.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And if it was learned, it can be unlearned.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: And that's incredibly hopeful because it means we're not trapped, we're not fixed, we're not destined to repeat the same emotional loops forever.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: We simply become aware.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: And awareness creates choice.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Maybe that's what awakening really is.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Awakening isn't becoming more spiritual, it's just becoming more conscious.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: It's finally seeing the subconscious patterns that have quietly been running your life.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: It's waking up to the realization that you're a programmable being and you've been programmed in ways that are disempowering you.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: It's recognizing that your voice in your head isn't always the truth, and realizing that you've spent years living in survival mode when you're finally ready to live from authenticity.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's why so many people feel different right now.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Not because they're falling apart, but because they're beginning to see the identities that they've been carrying.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: And once you see them, it's very difficult to keep pretending they are who you are.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: One of the biggest things I've learned through working with people is that the nervous system doesn't necessarily prefer what's healthy, it prefers what's familiar.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Think about that.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Healthy and familiar are not the same thing.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: If criticism was familiar, love can actually feel uncomfortable.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: If chaos was familiar, peace can feel boring.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: If unpredictability was normal, consistency can feel suspicious.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: If your worth depended on achievement, rest can feel unsafe.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: If your identity became the responsible one, the strong one, the caretaker, the overachiever, the peacekeeper, then who are you when you stop playing those roles?
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: That's what we're going to talk about.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Because I think understanding why change feels so uncomfortable is one of the most important parts of this entire conversation.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: So why does change feel so uncomfortable?
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Because we're not simply changing behaviors, we're changing identities.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: And that's a very different thing.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: If you've spent 40 years believing your worth comes from taking care of everyone else, who are you when you begin setting boundaries and stop people pleasing?
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: If you've always been the responsible one, who are you when you finally ask for help?
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: If you've built your identity around being productive, who are you when you choose rest?
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: If you've spent your whole life trying to earn approval, who are you when someone disapproves of you?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: And you no longer chase after them trying to explain yourself.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Those aren't just behavior changes, those are identity shifts.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And identity shifts can feel incredibly uncomfortable because our nervous systems often interpret unfamiliarity as danger.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Not because it is dangerous, but because it's unfamiliar.
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: And that one realization can really change your perspective on things because suddenly instead of asking what's wrong with me, you're asking, What have I practiced for so long that it now just feels like me?
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Just it's just who I am.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: And that's a very different question, a much more empowering question.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: Because patterns, they're not permanent, they're practiced.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: And what has been practiced can be practiced differently.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: And that's really what the entire reparenting method is about.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Not fixing yourself, not becoming someone better, not trying harder, but becoming conscious enough to recognize the patterns that once protected you, and gently teaching your nervous system that it no longer has to live from survival.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: I don't think that most people are actually afraid of change.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: I think we're afraid of letting go of the identities that have kept us safe.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: And really, like to me, it feels like jumping, jumping off a cliff or jumping into the abyss.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: You don't know what's next because you've never felt it, you've never practiced it.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: It's scary to walk into the unknown.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: The people pleaser, the achiever, the caretaker, the perfectionist, the strong one, the peacemaker, those identities probably served us beautifully at one point.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: They were intelligent, they were adaptive and creative.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: But if you're listening to this today, maybe you've simply outlived their purpose.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's why life feels different.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Because something inside of you no longer wants to keep performing, it wants to start living.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: And whether that's because of psychology, lived experience, neuroscience, or because we're ascending as a planet, and we're all being forced to let go of the lower emotional vibrational frequencies like shame and fear and survival.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: So that means we gotta take off our masks and we gotta start living authentically.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Because deep inside you, that authentic part of you wants to start living.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: And whether you explain what's happening through neuroscience, psychology, spirituality, or the age of Aquarius, I think something fascinating is happening.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: People are asking better questions, and people are starting to question the systems.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: They're questioning work, education, relationships, medicine, the government, religion, what success looks like.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: We're even questioning ourselves because people are becoming curious, and curiosity is the beginning of consciousness.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: One of my favorite quotes says, The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your questions.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: And I think we're asking different questions now.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Not how do I become more successful, but what actually matters, not how do I make more money, but how much is enough?
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: And not how do I fit in?
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: But what feels true to me and not how do I impress people, but who am I when I stop performing?
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: Those feel like entirely different questions, and they lead to entirely different lives.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: I don't know exactly why this collective shift is happening.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: I believe I'm pretty close in my understanding, but I don't think any of us truly know.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Some people believe we're moving into a new age, some people think that's woo-woo.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: Some people believe increased solar activity in Earth's electromagnetic environment play a role, others also think that's woo-woo.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: And some believe we're witnessing the natural evolution of human consciousness, where others simply believe people are just becoming more psychologically aware.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: Maybe, maybe not.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: What interests me isn't proving one explanation, it's recognizing the invitation.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Because regardless of why, the invitation seems remarkably similar.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Become more conscious, become more authentic, become less afraid, become less reactive, become less controlled by unconscious programming.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: Become more intentional.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Isn't that exactly what we've been talking about here?
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: At least that's what I've been talking about for years.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Every episode, every client session, every newsletter and blog that I write, every video that I produce has been pointing back to the same truth.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: You are not your conditioning, you are not your coping mechanisms, you are not your trauma, you are not your survival strategies.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Those things happened, those patterns developed, but they're not the deepest truth about who you are.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: And I think that's why this work feels so hopeful to me, because I don't believe healing's about becoming someone new.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: I believe it's about remembering who you were before you believed you had to earn love, before you believed your worth depended on achievement, before you believed you had to make everyone happy, before you believed conflict meant you weren't safe, before you believed your voice didn't matter.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: That's why I call it reparenting.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Not because we're blaming our parents, not because we're trying to rewrite the past, but because we now have the opportunity to consciously offer ourselves what we may not have consistently received during the years our subconscious mind was developing.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: Awareness, safety, compassion, permission, choice.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: And maybe that's what people are really longing for right now.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Not more information, not another productivity hack, not another achievement, but permission.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Permission to slow down, permission to question, to rest, to disappoint people, to stop pretending, to become more authentic.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: Maybe the exhaustion so many people are feeling, and the disconnection and the apathy isn't because life has become heavier.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's because the identities we've been carrying have become too heavy to keep carrying.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Think about it.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: If you've spent decades trying to prove your worth, that's exhausting.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: Been there, done that.
- 21:15SPEAKER_00: If you've spent decades pretending you're okay, that's also exhausting.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: And if you've spent decades suppressing your emotions, yeah, been there too.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: That's exhausting to the core.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: If you've spent decades living someone else's definition of success or a life, that's exhausting.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Your soul, your nervous system, your consciousness, whatever language feels right to you, it's simply saying I'm ready for something different.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: I'm ready to drop back into my authentic self.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: And if that's true, don't panic.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Get curious.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Because I don't think you're falling apart.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: You're just letting go.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe you're remembering.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: Maybe you're becoming.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're finally returning to the person you've always been beneath the conditioning.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: And whether you call that awakening, healing, growth, consciousness, or simply maturity, I don't think the label matters.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: I think the invitation is what matters.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: Become aware.
- 22:37SPEAKER_00: Question everything, especially the stories you've been telling yourself about who you have to be.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Because awareness will always precede transformation.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: And if the world really is changing, which I believe it is, maybe the greatest contribution any of us can make isn't trying to change anyone else.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's becoming a little more curious ourselves, a little more compassionate, more authentic.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: One choice, one pattern, one relationship, one conversation at a time.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Maybe the greatest shift happening right now isn't happening to the planet.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's happening inside people.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: One nervous system at a time, one family at a time, one act of kindness at a time, one conscious choice at a time.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: Maybe the future isn't something that simply happens to us.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's something we participate in creating.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Every time we choose awareness over conditioning, presence over performance, love over fear.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Maybe So let me leave you with one final thought.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: What if the person you're becoming isn't someone new, but someone you've always been, that has been waiting patiently beneath the conditioning for you to remember.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for spending this time with me.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: And until next time, get curious.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: Keep becoming aware.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: And remember, you're not broken.
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: You're patterned.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: And patterns, they can be changed.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Thank you for listening to Reparenting Radio.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: If today's conversation supported you, take a moment to subscribe, leave a review, or share it with someone who knows they were made for more than the patterns that they inherited.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: If you're ready for serious inner work and real transformation, personally or professionally, you can explore my leadership pathways at Lisa-Watson.com.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: And if you're raising little ones alongside your own healing, you'll find my children's books at awakentheone.org.
