- 0:45SPEAKER_00: So stick with me today with this episode because today is a solo episode.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: This is not a series.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: And the title of my episode today is called Shattered Plates.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And I'm probably guessing that you're wondering, well, what in the world is that?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm gonna tell you.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I want to talk today about trust.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Trust.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Have you ever had your trust broken?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Have you ever trusted someone or you broke your own trust?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Have you ever dealt with that?
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I think we all have.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I know I have.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Have you ever been at a point in your life where trust, um, you just feel like you can't trust anyone?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Like you just, there's just no way, no how.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I'm not, I'm just not trusting a thing.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So I think we all want to be trusted, and I think we all want to be able to trust.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: But what happens when trust fails?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: When trust breaks, it's like a shattered plate hitting the ground.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: When a plate hits the ground and it breaks into all of these pieces, yes, we can take them all back up and put them back together, but we will never be the same.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: We are all like shattered plates.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: We all have missed the mark at some point in time in our lives.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Either we have let someone down or someone that we trusted let us down.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Can you really can you relate with that today?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: I'm hoping that whoever I'm talking to today can relate to what I'm saying.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: So I want to I want to talk about trust and the shattered places.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: When is it a good idea to actually trust people?
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Like, are we making wise decisions in who we put our trust in?
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Because I think sometimes some of the failed attempts at life are because we trusted the wrong people, or we trusted ourselves when we should have been trusting people.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: So I think that some of our attempts can be um or could have been changed, and the outcome may have been different had we thought about actually who we're putting our trust into.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: So I wanted to talk to you about, I want to talk to you about this about when is it a good idea to actually trust people?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And nobody's perfect.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: There's not a there's not a perfect perfect person in the entire world which we know this.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Okay, and and when we say we want to trust somebody, we want to, we want to really believe um when we put that trust in them that they are trustworthy.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So, but how do we know?
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: How do we know?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: They say it's safe to trust someone when you are able to predict one's behavior with around 75% of accuracy.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not sure about you, but I'm not always good at predicting.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So I think that changes the percent, the percentile a little bit depending on your predictability.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's a that's a little bit different topic for later, but so basically, um, with what what whatever they have demonstrated to be trustworthy and they have followed through with it with with at least about a 75% follow through.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: So you've seen them do it, um, you've watched it, they've they've earned the trust because things that you've done, they've come they've completed whatever you've asked them to do with at least a 75% accuracy.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Now it can't be 100%, okay, because there's no way we we just can't have such an expectation on someone that it has to be a hundred percent.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: For one, that's just too much.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: That's too much to even ask, even of yourself, okay.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Try starting there, okay?
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: You want 100% accuracy, start with yourself first, okay?
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: So that brings me to this.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: When should you trust yourself?
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: When is a good idea for you to actually just just trust you, only you, okay?
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: When you are confident in what you value and in your judgment, when facing doubt and having faith in your instincts, that's when you should trust yourself.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's when you have to take responsibility for your choices.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: But the best way to be trustworthy in taking responsibility for your choices and your actions is by being honest.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: Honest is a huge, vital key in being trustworthy, honesty.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: So when we want to trust someone, we want to know that they're going to be honest.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: So let's say I give, let me use an example.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Let's say I give my daughter$20.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: My daughter and my grandson, they like to go to the store and the gas station and get like snacks or treats or or whatever.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: So I send them to the store with$20 and I give them a certain amount of money to spend, and I kind of expect to have a certain amount of money come back.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, that you know, just kind of what we do.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: I mean, I just don't throw out a whole$20 bill and say just go spend it on junk, okay?
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: So, but I don't mind if they go get themselves a small treat and get rewarded for you know whatever it is they're getting rewarded for, but I want my change back.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Now I'm trusting them to go make these decisions.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Okay, they they've been given the instruction, they know what to do, and I'm trusting them with it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: So when they come back and I want my money back, my change, it needs to be, it needs to add up.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: The money needs to add up, okay?
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: And if it doesn't, then you kind of lose trust in that.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And you have to ask them, hey, what happened here?
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Where did the money go?
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: You know, that's that doesn't usually happen with with my kids, but um, that's just an example I wanted to share with you because what if the money didn't come back?
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: You would have to ask them, and then you would have in the back of your mind a little bit of doubt and a little bit of untrust with that individual, so that the next time you hand them$20, you're gonna have to really think, is this really the person I want doing this for me?
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So, how much of that 75% accuracy accuracy with trust is it is it there?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: So when you trust yourself and being honest with who you are, you need to know that when someone's counting on you and they want to trust you, you have to show them the same accuracy, the same accuracy.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes we want to trust other people, but we're not trustworthy.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: We drop the ball.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: So even though I know that when we've all become shattered, which I believe every single person on the entire face of this earth at one time or another has had um a disappointment because somebody they trusted didn't follow through, or something they trusted themselves to do and they didn't follow through, and it just didn't pan out for them, okay?
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Or themselves.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: So when you're thinking about trusting and being honest, you have to think about your integrity.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I love integrity because integrity literally means doing the right thing, like when nobody's watching.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: So, so do you trust them to okay?
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm trusting you and I'm or I'm trusting me, or I want you to trust me in this.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: That means when when they're gone and you're all alone, that's where your integrity like gets gets challenged.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: And it's and it's a trust.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: They're trusting you to have good integrity, they're they're trusting you to have you know a good mindset, be honest, um, and and doing what you're doing for the right reasons.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: So when should you when should you trust no one?
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: When when ever should you trust no one?
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: No one at all.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: Well, I let me tell you this.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: If that is you and you trust no one, I want you to understand that that is a psychological stronghold, and that is a stronghold based on feelings.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: So because our feelings have been hurt and we've had some breakage along the way, we've been dropped and shattered a few too many times.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: We we get to a point where we just absolutely trust no one, no one at all, not even yourself.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: You're like, I'm tired of being broken, I'm tired of being shattered.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: This is not ever gonna be the same again.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: So, why would I put any trust in anything at this point?
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: So I'm not gonna trust anyone.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: That is a stronghold, my friend.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: That is such a stronghold, and that needs to be crushed, by the way.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: That is a stronghold that we should be tackling because we need to not have the mindset, the mentality, the emotions and feelings that come with we trust no one.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: Like we we it could be our church leaders.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: Like, I've heard so much talk about churches a lot lately about should we go to church, should we not go to church?
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: I don't go anymore, I don't go to church anymore because people aren't trustworthy.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't know if I agree with what the pastor's saying and the yada yada yada yada.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: There's no trust.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: There's no trust in anything, it seems like we don't trust anything, and we're basing that off from how we're feeling and our emotions.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: So, yes, it's good to be mindful and cognizant of certain things, but if we're stuck in it for the fact that we've been broken in it, then that brokenness is not healed.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, it needs to be worked on.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: You need to start piecing that plate back together bit by bit.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: May not be perfect, may not look as good as it used to before, but you're putting it back together and you're working on the healing process of it.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: It needs to be worked through.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: That's something that definitely, definitely needs to take place.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you this question when do you trust God?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Sometimes for myself, I should just say for myself because I don't want to um just point a finger and just make an assumption because people are like, no, you're just you're making an assumption.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Um and I kind of am, but I'm gonna talk about me personally.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: I went through periods in my life when I didn't trust God.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I did not put my trust in God.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I actually put my trust more in people, knowing that they were gonna let me down, because even though we put expectations on people, we know that they are failable.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: They can fail at any point in time.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, they can quit, they can stop, they can change their mind.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: They just don't have to.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: They don't have to be trustworthy if they don't want to be.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: They don't have to do what you're asking them to do just so they can gain your trust.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: So when do we trust God?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Okay, when are we trusting God?
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: When I was away from God, and throughout my entire lifetime, I lived on a sporadic roller coaster that um took me to many churches, in and out of churches, in and out of churches, in and out of churches.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: And I used to think, man, I I've got to find a church where I can find God.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Okay, first of all, I want to let you know, you don't have to go to church to find God.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: God is all is all over the place.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: He's everywhere.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: You can find him right here, right now, wherever you're at right now, God is there.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Um, you don't have to wait to go to church, you don't have to wait until you become a perfect individual or or until you get your mess cleaned up in your life, or whatever it is that you're going through.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: You don't have to wait for that.
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: God is waiting right now for you.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: So let's just say that.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: But when do we put our actual trust in God?
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: For me, it took um certain situations where nobody else was there, and I knew I couldn't do it by myself.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty, I'm a pretty strong individual, and I think God equipped me with certain strengths in my life, but he did not equip me to have these strengths without him.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: But sometimes I got it in my my thick scrolled head that I didn't need anybody but me.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: I didn't need anybody.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm I'm a solo individual and I've got this.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: I could take care of my own.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I don't need anything, I don't need anyone.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: You know, that kind of attitude and mentality, that's a terrible attitude to have excuse me, I need a drink of water.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: But when we trust God, everything changes.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Everything changes.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: So I want to share a scripture with you.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Let me share the scripture.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I'm excited.
- 13:47SPEAKER_00: I love to share scriptures.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: So if you have your Bibles, grab them, put them out, put the word of God in your hand.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: Let's get to reading, okay?
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: I want to look up um Proverbs 3, 5, and 6.
- 14:01SPEAKER_00: Um, my preference Bible is the King James version, but you can read whatever you want.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna tell you what to do or what not to do when that when it comes to which Bible you choose.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: I just prefer this.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: I prefer King James or even the NIV.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: I prefer NIV too.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Um so or the, I'm sorry, the K or N KJV, sorry about that, the new King James version.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Um, anyhow, in Proverbs, which is located, um, Proverbs is located before Psalms.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I got tongue twisted there, and um, I mean after Psalms, see, twisted.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: My mind, woo, it's spinning.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, Proverbs is located after Psalms, but before Ecclesiastes in the Bible.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: And I like to share that with with you guys because when I was learning to figure out where some of these things were in the Bible, I was flipping all around.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: And it's also in the the the old test, okay.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: It's not New Testament.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Okay, so it's helpful when somebody is sharing a word with you to give you a little bit of in instructions on or directions, if you will, to how to get to that address in the Bible.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Okay, so Proverbs 3, 5 and 6.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: Sorry, that water's like oh says, but trust in the Lord with all thy heart.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Lean not on your own understanding.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Oh boy, have I ever done that.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: In all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: He's gonna give you the direction to go, he's gonna show you where to go and how to get there.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: This, this, my friends, right here.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: This book is a lifeline, it's a roadmap, it's a GPS system.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: It is whatever you need um to get where you're going in in this world.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: Um, it's gonna be your comforter, it's gonna be your guide, it's gonna be so many things for you.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: This is why it says, lean not on your understanding, and in all my ways acknowledge him.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Well, what's one way to acknowledge him?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: By getting into this word right here.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Getting into this word and start reading it and start trusting what it says.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Start trusting it.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: And I know we're talking about trust, so I'm thinking, well, if I'm having an issue trusting, how am I gonna trust the word of God?
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: Okay, well, the Lord says trust in the Lord with all your heart, and and do not lean on your own understanding.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: That means what you what you understand about other people or what you understand about yourself when it comes to trusting, because they fail.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: People fail, we fail.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: We we we are not 100% perfect.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: That's why there's a 75% accuracy rate and not 100%.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: But let me tell you what, God is the 100%, the 100%, he's the whole pure, like peer.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: You know, he's not no watered down version, okay?
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: So we need to not lean on our understanding, but we need to acknowledge him, and he's gonna show us the way.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: So I want to share a quick testimony with you before I wrap things up here.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I'm trying to keep my my time um on point today.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: I wanted to share a story with you, real quick.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: I've had situations in my life where I've had to solely trust God, like I just had to lean on him, I didn't have any other choice.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I knew I didn't know what to do, and I didn't have anyone else there to lean on, and I just called out to God.
- 17:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that's you, if you've ever encountered that.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: I'm hoping that you have, but I want to share a little story with you.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: Um, when I was um a foster mom, and that was about six, seven years ago, um a situation happened in my home.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: And one of my foster kids um pulled a grand theft auto on me and stole my car.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: He was 16 almost or 16, 17, almost 17, I think.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: Anyway, he'd already been, you know, in trouble for grand theft auto a couple of times before he came to me.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: And I literally was for the longest time just sleeping with my car keys.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Like I had a lanyard, and I would either have it around my neck or I'd have it under my pillow and I'd have it right to where if someone tried to pick my keys, I would feel them because I didn't have trust in this individual.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: But I had come home one night because my mom was in the hospital and um I was dealing with just some issues, and he knew I was burdened, he knew I had a lot on my plate, so he kind of he kind of knew like when to kind of figure out when to get my keys.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Like, so after I came home, got the kids to bed, I went to bed and um woke up, and one of my other foster sons is like, um, hey, um, so and so is not here.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: He's not here.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: The the screen is off.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, oh, okay.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: And he he we already all knew that he had done the grand theft auto thing.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: So this kid literally like because he would brag about it, this kid would brag.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: So this other this other child that was still at the house, he he thought about it and he ran out the front door, and sure enough, my car was gone, you know, just bye-bye, gone.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, and I hadn't even had the car for a year, and um, you know, and I just put a you know, a new engine in it, and because that blew up right after I bought it.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: And it's like just you know, certain things.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: But anyway, long story short, the kid is freaking out.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: He's freaking out, and I didn't have time to freak out because I had seven foster kids in my home, in which went to five different schools, in which now I don't have a vehicle to get some of these kids to the bus stop, to to the drop-on, to the school, to the corner, to all of these places that I normally would drive these kids to.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: And I was kind of freaking out because I was like, I didn't even worry about the car.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: My concern was, how am I gonna get these kids everywhere?
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: And I thought, man, I'm like, okay, Lord, you know, I literally just stopped and paused in my living room after walking around for a few minutes trying to gather my thoughts.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: And I was like, God, what whatever this is, I'm just gonna trust you.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: I have to just trust you.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, I've got to take care of these situations, and I can't freak out right now.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: I can't just, I could have flipped my lid.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: I could have been yelling and screaming and mad and pooting and hollering and what have you.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: And and even, even this young man was like, Aren't you gonna call the cops?
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: And aren't you?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah, but I gotta get the kids to school first.
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: He goes, What do you mean first?
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: And I said, That is car is not as important as getting you kids where you need to be.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: I need to just get you guys to school.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: I'll worry about the car afterwards.
- 20:50SPEAKER_00: I have insurance, we'll just I'll figure it out.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: So get the kids to school, long story short, get the kids to school.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Call my car insurance.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm just like, Lord, I don't know what I'm gonna do now.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: I don't have a car.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: I have seven kids.
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: And some of these kids go to school like way up in the mountains.
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: And um, I have to drive them to a faraway bus stop so that they can go up into the mountains because that's just where they lived before they came to live with me.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And so I was like, I, you know, I was just really worried and concerned.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: And I thought, oh my gosh, I'm I'm not gonna let this freak me out.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna let this do this to me.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: God, I'm gonna just trust you.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: Whatever you're doing here in this situation, I am going to trust you.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: So got a hold of my insurance.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: My car had a 30-day um car rental on there.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: So I got 30 days for no cost at all.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: They nothing at all.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: They even came and got me, took me to the car lot to pick out the car.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: And of course, they only had a it was a four door, but it was only like five seats, and my car had nine seats.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking we're gonna be sitting on top of each other, and we were for a couple of times, and I I had to get my friends involved to help me juggle getting these kids to and from their bus stops and picked up and doctors' appointments and other appointments that had to take place.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: And it was a little bit sporadic and a little bit crazy.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: And mind you, I worked out of town and my mom was in a nursing facility out of town because she was ill and in a rehab because of a medical condition that she was having taken care of.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So I had all of this stuff compiling on me.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: And I just like threw my hands up and said, God, I don't know what you're doing, but I'm just gonna trust you.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: Just gonna trust you.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: I have to.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: I mean, you know, you can't even write this stuff.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Like it's just everything was just piling up.
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: And so I thought, you know, I'm gonna call the guy at the car dealership where I bought the car and see what he can do to help.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: I know that I had purchased an extra um package for that car, and I didn't know exactly what all that entailed.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: I knew that when my engine blew up, it was a$22,000 engine, and I only had to pay like$700 of it.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: And so I knew that I had this extra cushion because I paid for some extra stuff when I bought the car.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: Thank goodness.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: That was a wise choice.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: So I called him up, and um, this is a guy that I've been buying cars from, mind you, for years.
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: And not like every other week because his cars are garbage, but because his cars are good.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: I've not ever had a problem one time with any car off his car lot ever.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And I think if I did, he would he would correct it.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: So I called him, I told him what happened with my card, gave him the rundown, the whole spill, the story, and all that.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And he's like, Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: And he goes, Well, what do you want?
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: What kind of car do you want?
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And I said, Well, I think I I go, I have in mind an actual car that I really do want, but I don't know that you're gonna have it.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: He goes, Well, what is it?
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Just tell me what it is.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: I said, I want a Yukon.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: I want a Yukon with it's gotta have nine seats.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: I want some foot room.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: I want there to be some room in the back so that we don't have groceries on our lap and just a couple of amenities to where we would be more comfortable than what we were in the car that had just previously been stolen.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And he said, excuse me, he said, Well, guess what?
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: You're in luck.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I'm looking at two right now, and one of them I know that you're gonna fall in love with.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: He goes, I know that you're gonna love it.
- 24:23SPEAKER_00: He goes, why don't you come and look at it?
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: And if you like it, take it home.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: And I said, What do you mean, take it home?
- 24:29SPEAKER_00: And he said, I want you can take it home.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: I said, but I haven't filled out an application, I haven't done my credit check, I haven't, what about the down payment?
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Um, what is this gonna cost me?
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: Yada, yada, yada.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: All of this thing that was going through my brain.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my goodness.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: I go, are you I go, are you kidding me?
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: And he goes, No, I'm not kidding you.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: And I was like almost in tears because my heart was so full when he just said, just come and if come and look at it, and if you like it, it's yours.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: So I did.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: I like got a ride over there.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Um, and I said, uh, I didn't even take the rental car.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: This is how much I trusted this process.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: Got a ride over there, had them drop me off.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: And they said, Well, what aren't you gonna need a ride back?
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: And I said, I don't think so.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: I have a good feeling about this.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: And so I went and I talked to him, and he showed me, and him and I took it around the block.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: And it was a one-car owner, only had 40,000 miles on it, had never been in an accident, the people hardly ever drove it.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: It was like brand new, actually.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: And even for the year that it was, it was a little bit older model, but it was in really good condition, and I needed something that was gonna work for all the kids that I was taking care of.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: And so, long story short, um, I drove it home that day.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: And I remember asking him and uh trying not to get emotional because I was just smitten that he trusted me without even feeling out anything just to drive that car off the lot and take it home.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: He said, I know you and I trust you.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: He said, You're good people.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: And he goes, I'm sorry what happened to you happen, but I want to help you.
- 26:08SPEAKER_00: I want to help you through this, you know, because this is a lot, this is hard.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: You know, what you're going through is not something that's easy.
- 26:14SPEAKER_00: And he goes, You're you're handling it pretty well, from what I can tell.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: But, you know, this is really good.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Like this is good stuff, okay?
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: And so I was so thankful, I was very thankful.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: And um my heart was just like, wow, so full.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: And I remember pulling up to the house, and the kids came out of the house, and they're like, We have a new car, and just the excitement and the ooze and ahs.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: And and I remember thinking, God, this was you.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: This was all you because I didn't have time to worry, I didn't have time to freak out and all of these things.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: I had in that moment, in that time frame, I had to put my trust in him.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: I had to trust that something was happening for a reason, and I had to trust that it was good, and it turned out to be amazing.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: So I want to encourage you today.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: I really want to encourage you.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: This is just like one story testimony I could give you, I could give you a lot, because there were times in my life that I didn't trust anyone.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: Raised in a broken home, you know, went through a lot of abuse, um, was in and out of foster homes, um, one minute wanted, one minute not, and um a lot of brokenness.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: My plate was shattered to where I'm surprised it could be put back together.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: And I know one thing for myself that happened, and I'm gonna share this and I'm gonna bounce.
- 27:45SPEAKER_00: Um, is that the more my plate got shattered, the more I trusted no one.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: But we have to go through, we have to go through and think about um when we're piecing it back together and we're starting the healing process from from all of that that brokenness, we have to think about what God wants us to do.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: God wants to direct us, direct our path.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: So we need to lean on him.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: We need to not lean on ourselves.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: And it's okay to trust.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: It is literally okay to trust.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: Make sure that when you're trusting people, you know, and you can even ask God, God, is this person trustworthy?
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: Lord, I'm I'm praying ahead of time that I'm gonna put my trust in this individual, you know.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: And and it's okay to pray for the person that you're putting trust in.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: It's okay to pray for yourself if you try to put trust in your own self.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Work out your work out the honesty part, make sure that you're being 100% legit and real with yourself.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: That these are gonna have good outcomes if you do this.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: And it's gonna take that feeling of I can't trust no one, that mindset, that psychological stronghold that needs crush, it's gonna start not showing up anymore.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna have that on the back burner to where I'm just gonna convert back to no trust, no one, you know.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: So keep it simple, but keep it real and trust God.
- 29:10SPEAKER_00: Just just trust God.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: This is just some advice I want to give you guys today.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: And I'm hoping that this is helpful.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: And I hope that um I have led you to feel like, you know, that you know, I want to be trustworthy.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I want someone to trust me just as like I want to trust other people.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: So be that person, be the person that can be trusted, okay, within yourself.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: If that's something you need to work on, then work on it.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: There's nothing wrong with it, with working on yourself.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: So I want to thank you all for being here today and putting, you know, your time and effort into sitting with me and and chiming in.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: And um, hopefully you've learned something and I've helped you in some way or another.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I am a Christian life coach.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: If um you need coaching on anything specifically, some strongholds that you're really having trouble getting past, um reach out to me.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: I I write my programs specifically individually for each person that um I coach.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: So, not all programs are like cookie cutter, all the same for everyone, because I think everyone is individual and we all have different um aspects, we all have different needs.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Um, we have all we we all have different broken pieces.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: None of them, nobody's plate looks like my plate.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: My plate doesn't look like yours, even though it's shattered and broken and put back to put back together many times, it's still not gonna look like yours.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: So um, if you need help, if you need prayer for anything, reach out to me.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: I'd be glad to pray for you.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: If you have any questions about anything I've shared today, feel free to message me and ask away.
- 30:47SPEAKER_00: If I don't know the answers, I will try and find the answers.
- 30:51SPEAKER_00: I am one that likes you ask me something, and if I don't know it, um, so I don't, yeah, I'm not a know it all.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: I don't know everything.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: And like everybody else, you know, there's nobody that knows it all.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: So if you want me to find something for you, I'll try to find it.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: And if I can't get the answer, you know, then I can't, but I will do my best.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: So I just want to thank you all for being here.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: I love you all.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: I hope you have a great and amazing day.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: And come back for our next episode.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Episode number six will be right around the corner.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: And I hope you have an amazing day.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: Take care.
