- 0:00Psalm 17 from the book of Psalms.
- 0:04First, let's pray. Dear Lord, please let the Holy
- 0:06Spirit give us insight, wisdom and understanding with what we
- 0:10read. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:16Psalm 17A prayer of David. Here's what David says.
- 0:22Hear me, Lord, my pleas. Just listen to my cry.
- 0:26Hear my prayer. It does not rise up from
- 0:29deceitful lips. Let my vindication come from
- 0:32you. May your eyes see what is right.
- 0:36Though you probe my heart, though you examine me at night
- 0:40and test me, you will find that I have planned no evil.
- 0:44My mouth has not transgressed, though people tried to bribe me.
- 0:49I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your
- 0:53lips have commanded. My steps have held to your
- 0:57paths. My feet have not stumbled.
- 1:00I call on you, my God, for you will answer me.
- 1:04Turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
- 1:07Show me the wonders of your great love, You who save by your
- 1:11right hand, those who take refuge, and you from their foes.
- 1:17Keep me as the apple of your eye.
- 1:20Hide me in the shadow of your wings from the wicked who are
- 1:24out to destroy me from my mortal enemies who surround me.
- 1:30They close up their calloused heart, their callous hearts and
- 1:34their mouths speak with arrogance.
- 1:36They have tracked me down. They now surround me with eyes
- 1:40alert to throw me to the ground. They are like a lion hungry for
- 1:45prey, like a fierce lion crouching in cover.
- 1:49Rise up, Lord, Confront them. Bring them down with your sword.
- 1:53Rescue me from the wicked by your hand.
- 1:56Save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose
- 2:00reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for
- 2:06the wicked fill their bellies, may their children gorge
- 2:09themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little
- 2:13ones. As for me, I will be vindicated
- 2:17and will see your face when I awake.
- 2:20I will be satisfied with seeing Your likeness.
- 2:24And that ends Psalm 18. I'll read what the study Bible
- 2:27has to say about these. So how could David have claimed
- 2:31not to not have transgressed? David was speaking poetically.
- 2:36He considered himself innocent of wrongdoing, at least when he
- 2:40compared his actions to the violence and wickedness of those
- 2:43around him. Another possibility is that
- 2:46David knew his motives and intentions were right.
- 2:49On other occasions, however, when he saw himself in light of
- 2:51God's holiness, he confessed his sins before God, like in Psalm
- 2:5551. So also I will add to what the
- 3:01study Bible said. We also don't know when David
- 3:04wrote this. So David had a long life and
- 3:08there were different times of his life, probably that where he
- 3:11was closer to God or where he was not guilty of things.
- 3:16But then there were certain times of his life also where he
- 3:19was guilty of things and God rebuked him for it and they had
- 3:23that relationship. So reading this Psalm, we really
- 3:27from this Bible, we don't know when it was written at what
- 3:30point in his life, but surely at this the point of his life, the
- 3:33way David was expressing everything, he had not done
- 3:36anything wrong. It seems like he was wrongly
- 3:39accused. When you read the first ones,
- 3:41he's you know, he says that that my plea is just and he's
- 3:48listening to his listen, please listen to the cry and his
- 3:51prayers. It doesn't come from deceitful
- 3:53lips and vindication. Let my vindication come from
- 3:57you. So it sounds like being wrongly
- 4:01accused of something. And then he acknowledges that
- 4:03God examines him and tests him. And then he proclaims that he is
- 4:10guided by God's commands. Well, throughout most of his
- 4:14life he he was, I guess not 100% because we know that he did
- 4:20things that were against God's commands.
- 4:23But we also know that God said that David was a man after his
- 4:27own heart. So he did, and many of it he did
- 4:32obey God and he did reflect on God's laws and he pursued.
- 4:38They were delightful to him. I mean, like I mentioned in
- 4:41another podcast, the way David talks about God's commands, it's
- 4:46like he treasures them. And that was something that
- 4:50stood out to me. One of the first times that I
- 4:51read through the book of Psalms was just like, that seems so
- 4:55unusual to me, but that is the way David was or that's the way
- 4:59he became realizing that God's words are good, they are
- 5:03righteous, they are filled with justice, All the things that he
- 5:06proclaims about God. The other thing that he does say
- 5:11in here is he's showing that he has confidence and trust in God
- 5:15and then he places his request to God and he's requesting
- 5:19refuge and protection. And then he's contrasting with
- 5:24his enemies. He's saying they're unreceptive
- 5:26to you. They're they're arrogant,
- 5:28they're the enemy. And then he's pleading for God
- 5:30to rescue and save him from them.
- 5:33And then he also says, which I think is really interesting,
- 5:36that this verse in 14 by your hand save me from such people,
- 5:42Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life.
- 5:49I want to talk a little bit more about that at the end, about, I
- 5:53guess worldly rewards versus God's Kingdom rewards.
- 5:58So that'll come a little bit later.
- 6:01And then in the very end, he seems pretty certain about God's
- 6:07Kingdom. And a lot of times the Bible
- 6:10talks about when someone dies that they go to sleep.
- 6:12And that seems to be what David's alluding to here because
- 6:16he says, As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your
- 6:21face when I awake. So that sounds like he
- 6:26understands there is a resurrection.
- 6:29I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
- 6:33So he has confidence that he is going to see God.
- 6:36How did God reveal this to him? We're not told, but he seems
- 6:40very confident in what he says. And I've I've looked at some
- 6:45other scriptures that I want to talk about how God reveals
- 6:48things to people and that'll come later at the end of this
- 6:51podcast. So I'm going to go back now to
- 6:56the study Bibles, questions and answers.
- 6:58And it says what? OK, what is the apple of the
- 7:04eye? This imagery suggests the pupil
- 7:07of the eye. The psalmist use the metaphor to
- 7:10describe something that is carefully protected and guarded.
- 7:15So I looked a little bit deeper into this and the pupil like it,
- 7:20it is carefully protected and guarded.
- 7:23If the pupil of the eye is injured, it's it doesn't usually
- 7:28recover from that. So it's to be guarded like our
- 7:33eyes are to be guarded. But then when I looked up what
- 7:37the apple of the eye meant in traditional like ancient
- 7:41Israelites, what that meant to the ancient Israelites.
- 7:45And the explanation was when you look into the apple, or not into
- 7:50the apple, but in the pupil of someone's eye, you see a
- 7:54reflection of yourself. And this has been mentioned
- 7:59before about God seeing his reflection within people like he
- 8:05in the book of Genesis, how he made mankind in the image of
- 8:11himself. So it's like when he sees into
- 8:14the eyes of the person, there is the reflection of God.
- 8:17So that's another way of looking that at this, you know, it's
- 8:20either extreme care and protection or something that you
- 8:23are just so pleased with the apple of the eye.
- 8:27So how does a shadow offer protection?
- 8:30This is a conventional Hebrew metaphor, metaphor for God's
- 8:34protection and care. As a shadow provides relief from
- 8:38the merciless desert sun, and as a bird covers her young in the
- 8:42nest, so God provides a place of refuge.
- 8:46Jesus expressed his concern for the people of Jerusalem in a
- 8:50similar manner, saying that he longed to gather them as a hen
- 8:56gathers her chicks under her wings.
- 8:58And that's from Matthew 2337. Then it says, when did David
- 9:05hope to see the Lord? David was not writing a detailed
- 9:09analysis of life after death, so we can't really draw much from
- 9:13these words, but we do know that David saw a glimmer of eternity.
- 9:19He expected to awaken from death's dark sleep so that he
- 9:24could see God. That's pretty cool.
- 9:26This is like in the BC time frame, like that long ago God
- 9:30was revealed and God speaks to people.
- 9:33And so there are some things now I'm going to go through my my
- 9:38thoughts as I read through this and things that stood out.
- 9:42I will start with going through the verses and when Lord or God
- 9:48is expressed, then I wanted to, you know, differentiate between
- 9:55those those words and in this everywhere where Lord is used is
- 10:03it means like I said before, it's like, I mean the breath of
- 10:12life, God's name, it's God's personal name, which we hear it
- 10:18called Yahweh, we hear it called Yehovah.
- 10:22So it's probably that's kind of how it's set, it's stated.
- 10:28So anyway, it is Lord is expressed in that way.
- 10:34So it's God's personal name that David is using.
- 10:37But then there is one time where it's not and there's a singular
- 10:40form referencing God. Ale is the word in Hebrew.
- 10:45So I call on you ale for you will answer me.
- 10:50So he's singularly talking to God the Father.
- 10:54That's who I believe these words represent as far as I my
- 10:59understanding right now. And let's see what else was
- 11:04there. So that's about God and where
- 11:07he's referenced. And unfortunately, I started
- 11:11this podcast before I actually researched and pulled up verse.
- 11:16Well, I researched it first, but I didn't have all the verses
- 11:18pulled up. So it's going to take me a
- 11:20second to call up a few verses that I wanted to reference in
- 11:27here, so I just have the first one.
- 11:33Something that came to mind was in verse 14 when I was reading
- 11:38that. Here's the verse from Psalm 17.
- 11:40By your hand. Save me from such people, Lord,
- 11:44from those of this world whose reward is in this life.
- 11:50When I read that, I thought about a parable that Jesus
- 11:53talked about the rich man and Lazarus.
- 11:57So I want to read that parable to you from it's found in Luke
- 12:02chapter 16, verses 19 through 31.
- 12:06I'll read it to you first and then just talk a little bit
- 12:08about it. So there was a rich man who was
- 12:12dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day.
- 12:19At his gate was a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and
- 12:25longing to eat what fell from the rich man's table.
- 12:30Even the dogs came and licked his sores.
- 12:34The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him
- 12:39to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was
- 12:44buried in Hades where he was in torment.
- 12:49This is talking about the rich man in Hades where he was in
- 12:53torment. He looked up and saw Abraham far
- 12:58away with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, Father
- 13:04Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of
- 13:08his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in
- 13:14this fire. But Abraham replied, Son,
- 13:19remember that in your lifetime you received good things, while
- 13:24Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here and
- 13:30you are in agony. And besides all of this, between
- 13:35US and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those
- 13:42who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone crossover
- 13:50from there to us, he answered. Then I beg you Father, send
- 13:56Lazarus to my family, for I have 5 brothers.
- 14:00Let him warn them so that they will not also come to this place
- 14:06of torment, Abraham replied. They have Moses and the
- 14:11prophets, let them listen to them.
- 14:15No father Abraham, he said. But if someone from the dead
- 14:19goes to them, they will repent. He said to him, if they do not
- 14:25listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be
- 14:29convinced. Even if someone rises from the
- 14:32dead. There is so much in this
- 14:36parable, a lot of biblical truths that come from it.
- 14:41So I'm going to try to quickly talk about that.
- 14:44So first thing, this rich man, he's living life.
- 14:49He's got all of his rewards and and we and we see by this one
- 14:54sentence where he says that no father Abraham, he said, but if
- 15:01someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.
- 15:04So that's how they, his family, the rich man's family might not
- 15:10be in the same place as he is. He is in Hades and he's being
- 15:15tormented. Hades is the word for you know
- 15:19what a lot of people call hell. So he are in maybe it's not
- 15:24hell, actually, it's it's this place that is for those who
- 15:30probably, I guess those who eventually will be thrown into
- 15:33the burning lake of sulfur, but it's a temporary place, just
- 15:40like what they refer to some. This is also referred to as
- 15:44Abraham's bosom. Like that's where he was.
- 15:46I don't know. I don't remember what version of
- 15:48the the Bible where it says that, but because this says that
- 15:54Lazarus was by his side. So sometimes you'll hear that
- 15:57called Abraham's bosom, but it's because he, Lazarus, the, the
- 16:03poor man, he was a beggar and he was always longing to just get
- 16:10like a little bit of what the rich man had.
- 16:13And he had sores. There were all kinds of issues
- 16:16with him. And he sat at the gate, he was
- 16:19begging, he had to beg for everything he had.
- 16:21He had nothing in this earth. And Jesus is telling, Jesus is
- 16:26the one who told this parable. So that's really important.
- 16:29So this is the Son of God telling people a, a story.
- 16:34Maybe it even was true, I don't know.
- 16:37But he was telling them this story and he was making some
- 16:41points to them, to us. Because it's written in the
- 16:44Bible and we can learn from it too.
- 16:46So even if somebody has everything in the world and it
- 16:49looks like they are successful beyond belief or just like that,
- 16:54everything is going well for them.
- 16:56And they, you know, sometimes that we see that with people
- 16:59where they are kind of wicked people, they're evil people.
- 17:04They are definitely not focused on the Lord and they are still
- 17:08successful. And a lot of people say, well,
- 17:11that's not fair. That's not just like, why do an
- 17:14even Job complained about that? He was like, why does it seem
- 17:17like some of these people, you know, just who are so far from
- 17:21God have things so good? Well, part of it's probably
- 17:26because of God's enemy helping them out in that way.
- 17:29But that's being really short sighted when we think about what
- 17:33we have here on earth. And it's also a reminder that we
- 17:37shouldn't solely focus on what we have or what we achieve here
- 17:43on earth because as Job and there's, I don't know, there's
- 17:48another prophet who says it too. I can't remember which one now,
- 17:52but naked I came into this earth and naked I will leave.
- 17:56So we don't take anything with us.
- 17:58And if we're living solely for what we have here on the earth,
- 18:03it's going to be short lived because we were created to be
- 18:07eternal beings. We will be eternal beings.
- 18:10The question is, after our testing period here on earth,
- 18:13where do we end up? Do we end up in God's Kingdom or
- 18:17do we end up in the burning lake of sulfur?
- 18:19We have control over that. We have control over that.
- 18:24When we choose to believe in Jesus, repent of our sins, and
- 18:30receive the Holy Spirit, then we can know know for a fact that we
- 18:35will be in God's Kingdom because God tells us that God is
- 18:39forgiving. There's nothing that we have
- 18:42done that we could have ever done that God cannot forgive.
- 18:47There is one blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
- 18:50So if we just outright hate God and everything about him and his
- 18:54Spirit and all of that, yeah, there's no forgiveness for that.
- 18:58Also, if we take the mark of the beast, there is no forgiveness
- 19:02for that. That's probably, it probably
- 19:05equates with blasphemy of the Holy Spirit because you are
- 19:07completely and utterly rejecting God and showing your allegiance
- 19:12and worship to something else now that hasn't come out yet,
- 19:15but that's prophesied to come in the future.
- 19:17So the only way that you can, the only sin that cannot be
- 19:22forgiven is the one where you just reject God in total.
- 19:27Reject Jesus, reject the Father, reject the Holy Spirit.
- 19:32That's the the only thing that is the way I understand the
- 19:38blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. So other than that, anything
- 19:43that anybody has done can be forgiven, but you have to be
- 19:46sincere about it. It's not when you go to God and
- 19:49ask for forgiveness. It's not OK, forgive me this
- 19:52time so that I can do it again and then confess it because God
- 19:55gives, you know, he's merciful and forgiving.
- 19:58Don't put God to the test and then don't think that you know
- 20:02there are times there. There are examples in the Bible
- 20:05where God just says. OK, that's it.
- 20:08I'm going to turn you over to the stuff that you keep going
- 20:11to. You keep rejecting me and you
- 20:12keep going to that. Fine, you can have that.
- 20:16And I don't know when that point is, and I don't, you know, so I
- 20:20wouldn't test God because eternity is forever.
- 20:25Our life here on earth is what? Maybe no more than 120 years.
- 20:29That's a very short period of time.
- 20:32You know, our life is described as but a vapor.
- 20:35I think it's James who says that, or maybe Jude, I'm not
- 20:39sure which one. But we're just, our life is
- 20:41described like a vapor, like it's here and gone pretty
- 20:44quickly. And but eternity is not.
- 20:48That's a different thing. So don't be short sighted on
- 20:50this earth and get yourself so wrapped up in what you achieve
- 20:55here on earth because ultimately it doesn't matter.
- 20:58Your character will continue, your soul, what you choose, that
- 21:03does matter, that matters to God.
- 21:05And so when we're looking at this parable that Jesus told
- 21:08about the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man had everything, but
- 21:13apparently he didn't repent. And that's what he said.
- 21:18You know, it's his words that said, hey, if you tell them,
- 21:21then my family can repent and they cannot be like he actually
- 21:26in this parable he was. Well, I don't even know if it's
- 21:29a parable. It doesn't really.
- 21:31I mean, it just it's a story that Jesus told.
- 21:35In this story that he told, it doesn't really say that.
- 21:42I don't know where I was going with that because my mind got
- 21:44distracted to other things. But so I guess here's something
- 21:51like if, if there's a lot of bad things happening in your life
- 21:54and yet you know the Lord, don't worry because in the future in
- 21:59God's Kingdom, it will not be that way.
- 22:02And, and as we see in Bible history that God typically
- 22:08restores or doubly blesses, often he doubly blesses someone
- 22:12who is faithful to him and who has endured a lot.
- 22:16And he kind of does the opposite.
- 22:18He takes the very simple and makes them grand and He takes
- 22:23the very humble and puts them in a high position.
- 22:27It's all like God does the opposite of what we would see
- 22:30here happening here on the earth.
- 22:32And so we have to remember who God is and that He is our
- 22:37Father, that he made us and He has certain plans for us.
- 22:40And the way we respond to God is going to be the outcome of where
- 22:47we end up. Just like here, the rich man, he
- 22:50never repented. And it was his words that said
- 22:54that they will repent like his family.
- 22:58He's like, go to them. And it's really, it's kind of
- 23:01it's sad when you think about it, because the rich man now
- 23:04he's he's having that remorse, but it's too late.
- 23:08That's the thing that I the other point that's really
- 23:10important. So there is this false story
- 23:16about purgatory that churches made-up, that there's this
- 23:20temporary place. If you're not, you know,
- 23:23prepared, I guess. No, that's, that's a lie.
- 23:27This parable or story about the rich man of Lazarus tells us
- 23:32once somebody dies, they go to the place where they're going to
- 23:35be. So there's the good, let's just
- 23:39say the good place to go and the bad place to go.
- 23:44Hades was the bad place to go where he was in torment.
- 23:47That's the bad place to go. The good place was where Abraham
- 23:51was and the poor beggar. And and then what Abraham said
- 23:57to him, he said basically he said we can't go there and you
- 24:01can't go here. So there's a huge separation.
- 24:06So after we die, there's not this like neutral position where
- 24:12we could do anything to get in a different place.
- 24:16No, as soon as we die, we're either in the bad place or the
- 24:22good place. And that's what Jesus, Jesus
- 24:25himself, who knows, he's the one who reveals the Kingdom of God,
- 24:29reveals things about God to people.
- 24:31He's the one telling us this, that after death you're either
- 24:36here or there and you can't go back and forth and you can't go
- 24:41to somebody who's in the other place.
- 24:43It's complete separation. And the beggar who was suffering
- 24:49while he was on earth, it says in verse 25, he is comforted
- 24:53here, but then the rich man is in agony where he ended up.
- 25:00And he said, you know, Abraham was telling him, remember, in
- 25:05your lifetime you received your good things.
- 25:08So his good things, his material things, his worldly things were
- 25:12more important than God and he got them.
- 25:16That's what he wanted. God gives us our desires and
- 25:22when we stay resistant to God, you know, it, it does say like
- 25:27there's, there's different points.
- 25:29Like I said that it's kind of fearful to me is that, you know,
- 25:33like you can be rebellious to God and keep on being
- 25:36rebellious. And at a certain point God will
- 25:38just say, OK, that's what you want.
- 25:39You can have it, but that's not necessarily a good thing.
- 25:43But sometimes people can be so stubborn with what they want and
- 25:47not reconcile themself with God. And if they happen to die during
- 25:53that time, they're going to be someplace they don't want to be.
- 25:57And there's no way of going back and forth.
- 26:00And I thought this was really interesting too, where the rich
- 26:04man is saying, well, just go, you know, if somebody is
- 26:07somebody dead comes back to life and tells my family, then
- 26:12they'll repent. And and then he says, this is
- 26:15verse 31. He said to him, if they didn't
- 26:18listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be
- 26:23convinced even if someone rises from the dead.
- 26:26Don't you think that's pretty interesting?
- 26:28Because Jesus is probably referring to himself.
- 26:31He's probably referring to this is what's going to happen after
- 26:36I die and I rise. People are still not going to
- 26:39believe they had the Moses. They had not the Moses.
- 26:43They had the prophets. They had Moses and the prophets
- 26:47already. And then Jesus dies and rises
- 26:51from the dead and people still do not repent.
- 26:57We're living in a world today where people still do not
- 27:00repent. They do not turn away from the
- 27:02things that God says don't do these things.
- 27:06They don't turn away from those when we become obedient to God,
- 27:10that's showing God that we love him.
- 27:13I'm not saying that our works get us into heaven because
- 27:16people get so their, their minds are so messed up with this works
- 27:21and obedience and all of this and people are so confused, but
- 27:26they are the only way that we get into God's Kingdom is
- 27:33through Jesus. Jesus is the way, the truth and
- 27:38the life. There's nothing that we can do
- 27:41because first of all, we are not good.
- 27:44So if we're not good, that means we sin and the wages of sin is
- 27:48death. So there's nothing we can do.
- 27:54But the gift of life is by the Spirit.
- 27:58And Jesus said we must be born again.
- 28:01So we have to put our past behind us.
- 28:03We have to repent of our past because we're all sinners.
- 28:06We all sinned. But it's like, how do you
- 28:08respond to God? How do you respond to what Jesus
- 28:11did for you and for me on the cross?
- 28:14How do you respond to that? Do you say, OK, you did a lot
- 28:19for me and I respect that and I love you for doing that.
- 28:26I'm grateful, therefore I'm going to obey your commandments
- 28:31because Jesus said if you love me, obey my commands.
- 28:34And the Father said the same thing.
- 28:37So we can't get away from obedience.
- 28:38It's not earning our way into heaven.
- 28:40It's showing our gratitude for God, to God for what he did and
- 28:45that he gave us away, Jesus, that we could be in his Kingdom.
- 28:51So tying this back to Psalm 17, it says by your hand, save me
- 28:57from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward
- 29:03is in this life. So we don't really necessarily
- 29:08having a reward in this life isn't such a great thing.
- 29:11It's more it's better to have the reward in eternity.
- 29:17And David was definitely recognizing that.
- 29:22So then the last verse. As for me, I will be vindicated
- 29:26and will see your face when I wake.
- 29:29I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
- 29:33So here is where I I didn't look it up.
- 29:38So I'm going to try and do a quick search and get to the
- 29:42verses that I wanted to reference.
- 29:45So in see about where it was Oh I know I looked at the wrong
- 29:53one. Sorry.
- 29:55This is why I didn't I just didn't realize that I had not
- 30:04done this until I started the podcast and I usually just
- 30:07record straight. I don't have any editing on
- 30:12this. This is just however it turns
- 30:13out is how it is. OK, so I looked up reveal so you
- 30:18could do this too. And I looked up in the NIV
- 30:20version and there are several verses that I wanted to talk
- 30:24about. There's there's 8 verses in
- 30:25here, but I don't know that I'm going to cover every single one
- 30:28of them. But Numbers chapter 12, verse
- 30:32six, I'm here's where I went with us.
- 30:35So somehow David knew that he was going to be vindicated.
- 30:40He knew he was going to see God's face when he awakes.
- 30:43So he knew there was going to be a resurrection and he would be
- 30:48satisfied with seeing your likeness.
- 30:52So that's interesting too, seeing your likeness.
- 30:54So it's not like seeing you, but it's seeing your likeness.
- 30:57I wonder if that's Jesus like this, like he didn't really know
- 31:01who it was, but he was like, there's something, there's
- 31:04someone that's your in your likeness.
- 31:06How did David know these things? I don't know.
- 31:09It doesn't say how he knew. I was wondering that myself.
- 31:14And then I looked up reveal like how did God reveal this to him?
- 31:17And then I also looked up dream because I know God reveals
- 31:20things in dreams. And those are the two topics
- 31:22that I'm going to talk about as this podcast gets wrapped up.
- 31:26So reveal in numbers 12/6. He said, listen to my words.
- 31:31When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord reveal myself
- 31:37to them in visions. I speak to them in dreams.
- 31:42So this is the first time when you look up reveal in the NIV
- 31:46version that it comes up. So this is back in Numbers and
- 31:49it's the Lord saying that he reveals himself in visions and
- 31:54dreams when there is a prophet among you.
- 31:59So I think that's really interesting.
- 32:03David did a lot of his Psalms that he said were describing
- 32:09like Jesus's death on the cross. We'll get to that eventually.
- 32:12So in a sense, David did have prophetic things like or he saw
- 32:20future things. So, but it doesn't necessarily.
- 32:25I haven't seen somewhere where it talked about David actually
- 32:28having a dream, but I did see other people having a dream and
- 32:31I'll talk about those. But God reveals in visions and
- 32:35in dreams. Then in first Samuel 2 verse 27
- 32:41it says now a man of God came to Eli and said to him, this is
- 32:46what the Lord says. Did I not clearly reveal myself
- 32:51to your ancestors family when they were in Egypt under
- 32:55Pharaoh? So Eli was one of the priests
- 32:59that were there and God revealed himself at that time to your
- 33:05ancestors family. Well, I'm not, you know, I'd
- 33:08have to I didn't do this deep dive search, but I wonder if Eli
- 33:12was somehow related to Joseph, because Joseph definitely had a
- 33:17revelation from God that we will we will talk about.
- 33:20He was one that received dreams, but this there's a lot more to
- 33:25that. But God revealed himself like
- 33:27how does he reveal himself today?
- 33:29He, God can reveal himself through the word of God.
- 33:33He can reveal to us through dreams and visions and some I,
- 33:38I, I think those are the safest. Actually the word of God is the
- 33:42safest way. And dreams we have to be careful
- 33:45of because we have to make sure that they are from God.
- 33:50Then let's see, I want to, let's see reveal.
- 33:57OK, in Matthew Chapter 11 verse 27, all things have been
- 34:04committed to me. This is Jesus, Jesus talking.
- 34:08All things have been committed to me by my Father.
- 34:12No one knows the Son except the Father and no one knows the
- 34:18Father except the Son and to those to whom the Son chooses to
- 34:25reveal him. So there were times where one
- 34:29time that just comes to mind was Jesus asking Peter, who do you
- 34:34say I am? And Peter says he's the he goes,
- 34:39you are the Messiah. And Jesus says to him, you know,
- 34:43there's no way you could have known that except if the Father
- 34:46had revealed that to you and Jesus only did.
- 34:50You have to remember too, that Jesus, everything he said and
- 34:52did was not of his own. It was he was doing what he saw
- 34:57the Father do. So he also said that and then
- 35:00you there's another example of that too, where Jesus was with
- 35:03the woman at the well and he knew all things about her.
- 35:08And then actually, then he actually revealed himself to her
- 35:13that who he was, that he was going to give her the water of
- 35:17life, that or who he gives the water of life to.
- 35:22They would never be thirsty again.
- 35:25And so in Luke chapter 10 verse 22, it's the same thing that
- 35:33Matthew 1127 says all, so it says, all things have been
- 35:38committed to me by my father. No one knows who the Son is
- 35:43except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except
- 35:47the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
- 35:52Now here's another interesting one about Paul and his
- 35:56revelation. Now Paul had a vision.
- 35:58That's how he found Jesus when he was on the road to Damascus
- 36:03and and Jesus, his name was Saul at the time.
- 36:06And Jesus said Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?
- 36:10And and Saul became blind. And then Jesus told him how he
- 36:14would become unblind, how he would get rid of that blindness
- 36:18and and Saul or Paul was obedient and he became known as
- 36:23Paul and then started preaching about Jesus.
- 36:26So he had a, a drastic life change, especially because
- 36:30before that he was zealous, a Jewish zealous, zealous person
- 36:34for his faith. And he didn't like Christians
- 36:37and he persecuted Christians. And I think he was even present
- 36:41when Stephen was stoned and he didn't do anything about that.
- 36:45So he was, he was forgiven, obviously he was forgiven and he
- 36:49became a messenger of God to the Gentiles.
- 36:54And and so anyway, what Paul says in Galatians 116, it says
- 37:03to reveal his son in me so that I might preach him among the
- 37:08Gentiles. My immediate response was not to
- 37:11consult any being. Now I need to read the sentence
- 37:17prior to that, so let's start over.
- 37:19But when God, who set me apart from my mother's womb and called
- 37:25me by His grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I
- 37:31might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response
- 37:35was not to consult any human being.
- 37:39I did not go to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I
- 37:43was, but I went into Arabia. Later I returned to Damascus.
- 37:50So Paul was. I also should have read probably
- 37:54verse 14 where it says this is Paul speaking.
- 37:57I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among
- 38:02my people, and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my
- 38:06father's. But when God, who set me apart
- 38:10from my mother's womb and called me by His grace, was pleased to
- 38:14reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the
- 38:18Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult a human
- 38:21being. So Paul was, like I said,
- 38:28persecuting Christians, but God has a purpose for each of us
- 38:34when he makes us, when he creates us.
- 38:37And that revelation of who God has called us to be happens at
- 38:42different times in people's lives.
- 38:44So Paul is advancing in in age. I don't, I mean not I think he
- 38:52was. I don't know what age he was by
- 38:54this text, but he was very intelligent about the law, the
- 39:00Jewish law, and he was very zealous about it.
- 39:04And he was very zealous about the traditions and, and as we
- 39:08learned in Scripture, Paul was really prideful and because of
- 39:12everything he knew. And so he was standing firm on
- 39:20his belief and he was persecuting the Christians until
- 39:24Jesus said, what are you doing? And then I'm paraphrasing,
- 39:29obviously. And then Paul has this complete
- 39:33change of heart and then starts telling everybody about you,
- 39:37Jesus. Now, The thing is that God
- 39:40revealed his son like that. He acknowledges that God
- 39:42revealed that he was pleased, I guess, with what Paul was doing,
- 39:45but he needed to redirect Paul and he revealed his son and then
- 39:51his son in me. So there's that close
- 39:53relationship that Paul then had with Jesus so that he would
- 39:59preach about Jesus among the Gentiles.
- 40:03And Paul didn't rush and say, oh, I got to go to the apostles,
- 40:06the disciples of Jesus to find out more.
- 40:09No, Paul had a direct revelation from God.
- 40:13It didn't contradict what's in the Bible.
- 40:16It supported what is in the Bible.
- 40:20And so it's, it's very interesting.
- 40:22So God revealed in a very unique way with, with Paul.
- 40:28So it was a vision. So it's really interesting how
- 40:33he did that. And like I said, I researched
- 40:38the way that God reveals other things in dreams.
- 40:42So I, I want to talk about those real quick.
- 40:44I'll try to make it quick because there are 18 different
- 40:47times where someone gets a dream, a message from God.
- 40:54So the first time that I found dream reference from God was in
- 41:00Genesis chapter 20 and it was Abimelech.
- 41:03I believe he was a king that Abraham and Sarah were traveling
- 41:08and he knew Sarah was really pretty and they were married and
- 41:13he was afraid that because she was pretty that they would take
- 41:19her and kill him so that they could have Sarah.
- 41:25Well, so then he told Sarah basically, let's lie and say
- 41:29you're my sister that way they won't kill me.
- 41:32They may still take you, but they won't kill me.
- 41:34So Abraham's acting out of fear and and he does that, they agree
- 41:40to do that. And I think it was like 1/2
- 41:42truth because I think it was, you know, they were not exactly
- 41:46like St. Well, they definitely were not
- 41:48the same mother and father, but they were they were related.
- 41:53And so it was 1/2 truth. But it was certainly done
- 41:57deceivingly because Abraham was acting out of fear and he was
- 42:00trying to protect his life. So we can see even a really a
- 42:04person who God used in a great way was a struggling human being
- 42:09just like all of us. So Abraham essentially kind of
- 42:13lies and tells, you know, that he's not, they're not married.
- 42:18And so Abimelech takes Sarah Soraya, I guess Soraya at that
- 42:23time, and he's going to sleep with her.
- 42:26He's going to take her as his wife.
- 42:28He's going to sleep with her. But he has a dream that warns
- 42:33him that he will be as good as dead if he touches her.
- 42:38And so he refuses it. But he's really angry with
- 42:41Abraham. Abraham, like, why did you do
- 42:44this to me? But God revealed to him before
- 42:47he did anything and and God knew that he had a clear conscience.
- 42:52He wasn't intentionally trying to sleep with another man's
- 42:56wife. He had no knowledge that Abraham
- 43:00and Sarah or Sarai were married. And so this is where God warned
- 43:05Abimelech. And I don't know, I have, I
- 43:08didn't do a full research on Abimelech, but I don't think he
- 43:13was a godly person. He was probably worshipping
- 43:17other gods and God came to him in a dream.
- 43:21So that I think that's important.
- 43:22So it doesn't mean that just godly people can have dreams
- 43:26from God. God changes people's hearts
- 43:29through dreams. We'll see that.
- 43:31So the next time I saw a dream reference was in Genesis chapter
- 43:3528, and it was Jacob. And Jacob had a dream of us a
- 43:40stairway where angels were coming up and down those
- 43:42stairways. And then he saw God or something
- 43:45like God. And God promised to, I guess
- 43:50affirmed the, the, the covenant of giving him the land, the land
- 43:56that he had promised to the ancestors, because we went from
- 44:00Abraham or yeah, Abraham at the time, Abraham to Isaac and then
- 44:04to Jacob his son. And so this was another dream
- 44:09affirmation from God that he was giving Jacob, who is renamed
- 44:14Israel, the land. And so this is God's promise.
- 44:18God did affirm something that was spoken to his ancestors in a
- 44:22dream to Jacob. Then in Genesis chapter 31,
- 44:26Jacob had another dream. He had gone to find a wife and
- 44:33he really liked Rachel. And Rachel had a sister named
- 44:37Leah. Leah was older than Rachel.
- 44:40So Jacob, I guess her father or Laban was the one who is.
- 44:45Yeah, I was just, I believe it was her father, father or uncle,
- 44:50I can't remember which. But somehow he was, he was like
- 44:54in, I think it was his daughter, like Leah and Rachel were his
- 44:57daughters. So Jacob went to Laban and
- 45:01wanted to, or he had to work for Rachel for seven years to get
- 45:07her as his wife. And so he does that.
- 45:11He works for her for seven years.
- 45:13And then on the night of his honeymoon, Laban slips his older
- 45:19daughter Leah in there because she's older.
- 45:21And so that's the first one he's going to give away.
- 45:23So that's a really strange story.
- 45:25But Jacob sleeps with Leah. I don't quite get that, but
- 45:30whatever, it works. So then he wasn't really happy
- 45:34about that. But then he had to work another
- 45:36seven years to for Rachel, the one he really wanted.
- 45:41And that was always his favorite wife.
- 45:43And he had to work for Laban for 14 years to get the two wives
- 45:50who happen to be sisters, which such a disaster.
- 45:54Anyway, that's another Side Story.
- 45:57But along that way, he was taking care of Laban's goats
- 46:04and, and they were dividing up livestock.
- 46:07And Laban made a deal with them that I guess if they were
- 46:13streaked or if they were spotted, or we know if they were
- 46:16speckled, you know, those would be yours and these would be
- 46:19mine. And so there was a division
- 46:21about what the goats look like, who would get what.
- 46:25But Laban was constantly like moving the bar, like always with
- 46:29Jacob, he was not treating him well.
- 46:32Just like Jacob wanted Rachel at first.
- 46:35So Laban gets another seven years out of him of work.
- 46:38And the same thing with like, the goats.
- 46:40He was, you know, trying to take advantage of Jacob.
- 46:44But Jacob had a dream about these speckled, spotted and
- 46:48streaked goats. And it turns out that whatever
- 46:54Laban chose, or whatever Jacob was supposed to get, even if
- 46:58they changed, Jacob got the better end of the deal.
- 47:02He got more goats than Laban, and that's because God was doing
- 47:06it. And Jacob, I don't think he
- 47:08realized because I think he did something like with their water
- 47:12and he was thinking that he had to do something to make it
- 47:14happen. But ultimately it was God's
- 47:16provision. God saw what Laban was doing and
- 47:20so he was like, no, you're not going to do this.
- 47:22And God stepped in AT and then made Jacob prosper.
- 47:28So that is another way that a dream revealed this to Jacob.
- 47:34It was God's Providence. Then in Genesis chapter 37,
- 47:38Joseph, he starts having dreams. First he dreamed of sheaves and
- 47:44you know, the grains and the sheaves and that they were
- 47:46bowing to him and he told his family about it and they
- 47:52probably thought he was extremely prideful and they
- 47:55hated him because it of it. Well, I don't know if it was for
- 47:58that first stream, but then he has a second dream kind of
- 48:01affirming what the first stream was saying.
- 48:03And it's about the sun, moon and 11 stars.
- 48:07So right here we see how this ties in to the Book of
- 48:11Revelation about the the 12 stars and the tribes of Judah
- 48:19that that represent are the tribes of Israel.
- 48:23I'm sorry, the tribes of Israel, Judah is one of the tribes, but
- 48:28how the 12 stars represent Israel, all the 12 tribes of
- 48:32Israel. So Joseph is one of those, but
- 48:34he sees 11 stars and they are bowing down to him like
- 48:38everything is bowing down to him.
- 48:40Well, again, his family just thinks, wow, this guy is really
- 48:43prideful and they don't like the stream.
- 48:45And they, his brothers are jealous of him and they want to
- 48:51kill him. They don't kill him.
- 48:52They put him in a pit. And then ironically, some
- 48:55Ishmael people come up and take Ishmaelites come and take him to
- 48:59Egypt. And that just changes
- 49:01everything, changes his desk. I mean, like, God was showing
- 49:05him in a dream that he was going to, you know, be someone that
- 49:11would be at a higher level. And that's really what happened
- 49:14that came to bear. Like, Joseph didn't know what
- 49:17this dream meant. But then after he gets to Egypt,
- 49:20all of a sudden the Pharaoh likes him and he puts him in a
- 49:23high position. He was #2 to the Pharaoh.
- 49:26And then his dreams didn't stop. In Genesis chapter 40, Joseph
- 49:31has dreams about the cup bearer and the Baker.
- 49:37And they weren't always Joseph didn't.
- 49:39Yeah. Joseph didn't have the dreams.
- 49:41They had the dreams and then they were asking Joseph to
- 49:45interpret them and so he to God and he gets the interpretation
- 49:49and one is restored and the other one is destroyed.
- 49:53And those are not really good words to both of them.
- 49:56There's good words to 1 and a bad word to the other.
- 50:00And so that comes true. So he sees that and then Pharaoh
- 50:09has a dream now. So he is not a godly one.
- 50:12He's worshipping all these other people are these other like fake
- 50:16gods, probably fallen angels. And he has a dream.
- 50:20He has several different dreams, but he has a dream that about
- 50:23fat cows and skinny cows and healthy grain and scorched or
- 50:28wind scorched grain. So, you know, a good harvest and
- 50:33a bad harvest and fat cows and skinny cows.
- 50:36And he doesn't know what to do it.
- 50:38What is this dream? But it was really troubling him.
- 50:40And Joseph interprets the dream and he realizes from God, God
- 50:45reveals to him and you know in probably prayer that this is
- 50:51going to be a famine. And so you have to stock up.
- 50:54Well, that's what Joseph advised Pharaoh to do.
- 50:57They did it. They had plenty.
- 50:59And that's how Joseph gets united with his family.
- 51:02They come to get the grain because the grain Egypt had the
- 51:06surplus that they had stored away.
- 51:08Everybody else was suffering. And so it's just you can see how
- 51:12God's Providence works and how He orchestrates all these
- 51:16things, but yet let's us all have our free will in doing what
- 51:19we choose to do. But God reveals things to
- 51:22certain people. And what God says is when you
- 51:25seek me, you will find me. And we know that Joseph was
- 51:30seeking God. Then we have in the book of
- 51:33Judges Chapter 7, verse 13, there's this unnamed man who is
- 51:40referenced. He's talking about Israel's
- 51:43success over the Midianites and Gideon overhears him and
- 51:48realizes that God is going to let Israel be successful over
- 51:53the Midianites. And that does hold true again.
- 51:55So this man, it's like he's not even significant in the Bible.
- 52:01He's unnamed. No one even knows who he is, at
- 52:05least from the Bible, what I read.
- 52:06And but yet he was he saw God revealed to him something it was
- 52:15in a dream and it was about this bread or something that get
- 52:19tossed into this tent area. I don't remember the whole dream
- 52:22but you can read a judges Chapter 7 if you are interested.
- 52:26But just showing like God can talk to insignificant people.
- 52:32He can talk to bad people, he can talk to good people, but he
- 52:36can talk to people in dreams and give people information.
- 52:41We have to make sure that it doesn't contradict the Bible
- 52:43though. So in first kings chapter 3
- 52:47verse 5 it talks about Solomon. I didn't even realize this.
- 52:51I thought it was just Solomon praying.
- 52:52But it was Solomon having a dream where God said what do you
- 52:57want? And Solomon asked for wisdom or
- 53:01discernment and then God promised that in a dream and
- 53:04promised him even more than that and that all came true.
- 53:08But this was in a dream and then it was went because Solomon was
- 53:14young at the time and he didn't think he could do it.
- 53:17And and God basically encouraged him and showed him that he could
- 53:22in a dream and and blessed him in a dream.
- 53:25And then that came to they came to be reality.
- 53:28I mean, that's how you know, if it really was God.
- 53:30Well, does it actually come true then in the book of Job, Job
- 53:37chapter 33, verse 14, God speaks through a dream and he may speak
- 53:44in their ears and he, he can also give them terror with
- 53:52warnings to preserve them. And Job describes a dream as a
- 53:57night vision. So it's a dream is a vision in
- 54:01the night a night vision. And so dreams and visions,
- 54:05they're very similar. I guess a vision is something
- 54:07somebody sees in the daytime, but the dream is something that
- 54:11a vision that somebody sees at night.
- 54:13And so Job was aware that God spoke through dreams and he may
- 54:18even speak into somebody's ear, or he could terrify them with
- 54:22warnings. But the purpose of that was not
- 54:25to create fear, but to preserve them so they could see what was
- 54:29coming and they could take action on it.
- 54:32Then in Jeremiah chapter 23 verse 25, we see that there are
- 54:36lying prophets who have false dreams.
- 54:41Now I don't know the source of those dreams or if people just
- 54:47make it up and they say they have dreams but they really
- 54:49didn't. Or if they actually have dreams
- 54:52from the enemy I guess is where it would come from.
- 54:56So that's why we always have to see if the dreams match up with
- 55:01Scripture and and there's you have to be careful of that
- 55:06because not all dreams, you can't trust people who just said
- 55:10they had a dream from God. That's the point.
- 55:13OK, then in Daniel chapter 2 verse 3, Nebuchadnezzar, he's
- 55:18not a godly man at all, but he gets a warning and he's told
- 55:26about a statue and it's, it's kind of like pride and, and God
- 55:31basically gives, well God gives the revelation to Daniel because
- 55:36Daniel seeks God to understand the dream.
- 55:40I guess Daniel is aware that, OK, God does speak to people in
- 55:43dreams. Now here is an ungodly man, but
- 55:46the only way I'm going to know about this is if God tells me.
- 55:49And then God tells him about these 4 kingdoms that the statue
- 55:53represents and Daniel shares that with Nebuchadnezzar.
- 55:57Then in Daniel chapter 4 verse 5, Nebuchadnezzar has another
- 56:01dream. He dreams about this tree.
- 56:04And then Daniel does the same thing.
- 56:06He gets an interpretation from God about the dream.
- 56:10And basically, Nebuchadnezzar is going to go crazy and it's going
- 56:16to happen for seven years. And the purpose of it is to
- 56:19humble him and for him to repent and get rid of his pride and
- 56:24then honor God. And that actually all happened.
- 56:28So God used it to probably turn him away from eternal damnation
- 56:33and for him to become a believer, a believer in God, the
- 56:38true God. So then then Daniel starts
- 56:42having dreams. Well, he has a dream.
- 56:45He has a lot of things happen to him In Daniel Chapter 7, Daniel
- 56:50has a dream that terrifies them. It's about the four beasts and
- 56:53it's about the end times. And people talk about it and
- 56:57it's, you know, ties into the four different kingdoms that
- 57:00Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about.
- 57:02So it's like God is building dream upon dream and that I've
- 57:07actually experienced that before where 1 dream helps you
- 57:10understand the next dream. And, and it's very interesting.
- 57:14But that's what happened with Daniel is he has his dream about
- 57:17the four beasts and very detailed about the different
- 57:21kingdoms that would come. And then he has a in chapter 8,
- 57:25he has a vision about a ram and a goat.
- 57:29And those have some end time significance.
- 57:32And then in Chapter 9, he has an Angel visit visitation where he
- 57:39is told about the 70 sevens, like how long all of this will
- 57:43take to happen. And then in chapter 10 he has a
- 57:49revelation or a vision after he fasts and he then Chapter 11 he
- 57:56has a, I guess it's the visions of the kings of the North and
- 58:02the South and you know, the future.
- 58:06I it's pretty much the Antichrist that people call the
- 58:10lawless 1. He gets a vision of who that one
- 58:13is. It's revealed to him in a very
- 58:16cryptic nature. And then in chapter 12, he has
- 58:20another dream about the end times that terrifies him about
- 58:23this beast. And it basically says seal up
- 58:27the vision for this is about, you know, the end time.
- 58:30So this is about the the future, like very far into the future,
- 58:34even our future. So Daniel's dreams were in the
- 58:37BC before Christ time frame. And here we are thousands of
- 58:42years later, and we know what's going to happen because we know
- 58:46that Daniel was able to interpret dreams for the for
- 58:51Nebuchadnezzar. So he was a tried and true
- 58:55prophet. And what he says or what he had,
- 58:58the visions that he had are going to come to fruition
- 59:02someday. So people are interested in in
- 59:05what Daniel had, what Daniel revealed from his dreams that's
- 59:10written in the Gospel or not in the Gospels in the Bible.
- 59:14Then Joel chapter 2, verse 28, he had a prophecy about future
- 59:20dreams, that people in the future were going to have
- 59:23dreams. And so that also happened.
- 59:26We know in Matthew chapter one verse 20 Joseph, he had a dream
- 59:33where an Angel told him about Mary where he didn't get
- 59:36divorced from her because she was pregnant with a child and
- 59:40the Angel revealed to him why that happened.
- 59:43Then in Matthew chapter 2 verse 12 Joseph had another dream
- 59:48where he was warned about Herod and changed his travel plans as
- 59:52a result of the dream. Again God warning in a dream and
- 59:55this was to protect Jesus. This is Joseph the father of
- 59:59Jesus, not Joseph from the Old Testament that we were talking
- 1:00:02about. Then we have another person who
- 1:00:06is again unnamed in Matthew 27 verse 19, who gets a warning
- 1:00:12dream. This is Pilot's wife.
- 1:00:14He's the one that was going to determine the ultimate fate of
- 1:00:18Jesus. And his wife had a dream and
- 1:00:22warned him and said, don't have anything to do with that
- 1:00:27innocent man referring to Jesus because she had some dream that
- 1:00:32tormented her. So she was warned.
- 1:00:36Don't you know, get yourself out of that?
- 1:00:38So she warns her husband. And I think, you know, they say
- 1:00:40that Pilate washed his hands of it and said, you know, I'm
- 1:00:42turning it over to you. I'm not having anything to do
- 1:00:44with it. He listened to his wife.
- 1:00:46Thank God I spared his eternity. You know, if he was, you know,
- 1:00:49going to follow through with whatever if he was worn from God
- 1:00:55and not obedient to him, then in Acts chapter 2 verse 17, they
- 1:01:02repeat, it's repeated the Joel prophecy that in the last days
- 1:01:07God will pour out his spirit on on so many.
- 1:01:12And you know, we are certainly seeing God's spirit being poured
- 1:01:17out on people. This is I'll read it's Acts.
- 1:01:21Let's see Acts 2 verse 17. So I wanted to read that.
- 1:01:30Now here it talks about this is what was spoken by the prophet
- 1:01:34Joel. That's verse 16.
- 1:01:36In the last days, God says I will pour out my spirit on all
- 1:01:43people. These are not just prophets.
- 1:01:48This is your sons and daughters will prophecy.
- 1:01:53Your young men will see visions, Your old men will dream dreams,
- 1:02:00even on my servants, both men and women.
- 1:02:06I will pour out my spirit in those days, and they will
- 1:02:11prophecy. I will show wonders in the
- 1:02:15heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and
- 1:02:20billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to
- 1:02:24darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great
- 1:02:30and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the
- 1:02:35name of the Lord will be saved. So this is this was talking
- 1:02:45about when Jesus returns and everyone who calls on the name
- 1:02:50of the Lord will be saved. So this is really important and
- 1:02:54I will, I'm going to talk about something a little bit personal,
- 1:02:57a lot personal, but I think important too, because as I
- 1:03:03researched dreams and as I saw why God gave people dreams and
- 1:03:06what he did, I've shared this a little bit here and there.
- 1:03:10And, and as I've said, God uses just normal people, regular
- 1:03:14people. He can use bad people, He can
- 1:03:16use good people and, and there's no one who's good, but God can
- 1:03:21speak to anybody. But the message that he gives to
- 1:03:25people, sometimes it is personal, sometimes it's
- 1:03:27encouragement. I'll just tell you what happened
- 1:03:29to me. I was, I always said I was a
- 1:03:34Christian. I grew up in a Christian
- 1:03:35household and I always believed in the Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
- 1:03:42I was taught that. So I believed it and I never
- 1:03:45doubted it. And, and so I had that faith my
- 1:03:50whole life. But at a certain point, what I
- 1:03:54realized actually, when a certain point, when I actually
- 1:03:56read the Bible for the first time in 2000, 19, I realized
- 1:04:02that I didn't know what was in the Bible and I was not living
- 1:04:10like a Christian, even though I was calling myself a Christian,
- 1:04:14I wasn't living like 1. And so I had a big challenge.
- 1:04:19How would I respond to it now that I knew that?
- 1:04:24And there was also some scripture too that just said,
- 1:04:27I'm going to paraphrase because I don't have it memorized, but
- 1:04:29it's basically says like, if you don't know about something,
- 1:04:33you're not judged by that. But once you know something and
- 1:04:35then you do it, you're judged by it.
- 1:04:37So unfortunately or fortunately so I still say fortunately that
- 1:04:41I read the Bible because I'm so glad that I found this out now
- 1:04:44before I died. But so I, I then knew that I
- 1:04:51wasn't living right and I knew that I should be living
- 1:04:54differently. So finally I kept struggling
- 1:04:59with like, does it really say this?
- 1:05:01Does it say that? And I was like researching and
- 1:05:03looking into it. That's, you know, my sinful self
- 1:05:06trying to say, well, trying to get a loophole in the law.
- 1:05:10Well, there wasn't a loophole in the law.
- 1:05:12So then once I discovered there wasn't a loophole in the law,
- 1:05:16then I was like, OK, So what do I do now?
- 1:05:19Well, I have to make a decision. And then I decided, all right,
- 1:05:23if I make this decision, I can't be a hypocrite.
- 1:05:25I'm going to have to live it out.
- 1:05:27I'm not going to just do it for a performance and say, hey, look
- 1:05:32what I did. Look, I'm a Christian, you know,
- 1:05:34I'm, I'm announcing my faith. I'm announcing that Jesus is my
- 1:05:38savior. Jesus was my savior all the
- 1:05:40time, but Jesus was not the Lord of my life.
- 1:05:44And so when I decided I, I struggled with should I get
- 1:05:47baptized because I was baptized as an infant and I thought,
- 1:05:51should I get baptized again because my parents did it for me
- 1:05:54when I was an infant, but now it means something different.
- 1:05:58It means that I'm basically committing that I committing to
- 1:06:02Christ, you know, that I want to live in obedience and I want to
- 1:06:07be reconciled with him. And and so I finally, after some
- 1:06:13debate and some postponement because of COVID time frame, I
- 1:06:18finally got baptized in 2021. And that was my decision to no
- 1:06:25longer be a hypocrite and to be obedient.
- 1:06:30That's really what I was the my statement to, to God and my
- 1:06:34gratitude. And so that very night I started
- 1:06:38having dreams and I've had over 110 dreams since then.
- 1:06:45I've had the name of Jesus, the power of Jesus, Bible verses,
- 1:06:51Scripture, promises, warnings, encouragement, all sorts of
- 1:06:59things. Most of them were personal to
- 1:07:02me. And, and I had, I mean, I was
- 1:07:06shown things in my life. And, and so you could say, OK,
- 1:07:09you were reading the Bible. That's what a lot of my family
- 1:07:11said was you were reading the Bible.
- 1:07:13So you're probably having all these dreams because you were
- 1:07:15reading the Bible. Well, I was reading the Bible
- 1:07:16for two years prior to my first dream.
- 1:07:19What a coincidence to have your first dream like this biblical
- 1:07:23dream on the night of your baptism.
- 1:07:26Well, that's what happened to me.
- 1:07:28And then they continued. And the things that were
- 1:07:31different about the dreams that I had was a scene from my dream
- 1:07:35would happen later in my life. And it would be so shocking as I
- 1:07:40would just be going along with the normal life, you know, not
- 1:07:42even expecting anything. And all of a sudden I would see
- 1:07:46something that I saw in a dream and it would stop me in my
- 1:07:49tracks just like, whoa, I saw that in my dream.
- 1:07:54And this started happening repeatedly.
- 1:07:57And then I started really wondering like, what is going
- 1:08:00on? Because I never had this happen
- 1:08:03my whole life until my my baptism.
- 1:08:07And so then I started trying to figure out like, what's causing
- 1:08:11me to have these dreams? Why am I having these dreams?
- 1:08:13Are other people having dreams like this?
- 1:08:15And then I started buying books. Like, how do you know it's God's
- 1:08:18voice? How do you know if it's the
- 1:08:19enemy? Where does it come from?
- 1:08:21Is it your voice? Is it your own imagination?
- 1:08:23And I started researching all of this and, and I found that there
- 1:08:28are many, many people who are having dreams today.
- 1:08:33And you can just search probably YouTube and talk about dreams or
- 1:08:38end time dreams and you'll probably come up with a lot.
- 1:08:42And so I started listening to some of these other people
- 1:08:44because I wondered, are they getting the same information
- 1:08:47that I am? Are we getting a same message?
- 1:08:49And some people have different, you know, dreams and things.
- 1:08:52But lately, more recently, it seems like everyone is saying
- 1:08:59kind of the same thing. And it's very much like the old
- 1:09:02time prophets that we're say repent.
- 1:09:08And that's what I'm hearing from people who are dreaming and, and
- 1:09:13it's does line up with scripture.
- 1:09:16And I, I noticed this morning when I was looking at dreams and
- 1:09:20it says something about Pharaoh having two dreams.
- 1:09:24He had the dream about the, the cows and then the dream about
- 1:09:27the grain and had to do with famine and the time frame.
- 1:09:31But he had two dreams that were similar and they had the same
- 1:09:33message. It was a warning message and
- 1:09:36when God wants to speak something of importance, well,
- 1:09:39here's what I I sent it to actually to my sister today
- 1:09:42because I never paid attention to this verse.
- 1:09:46But then when I read it today, I was like, oh gosh.
- 1:09:53So it was in Genesis 41 verse 32 it says the reason the dream was
- 1:09:59given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly
- 1:10:05decided by God and God will do it soon.
- 1:10:11So then I thought about my dreams because I had one dream
- 1:10:16that was repeated 3 times and months.
- 1:10:20First it was like weeks apart, then it was months apart
- 1:10:25actually like almost a not quite a year maybe it was like 9
- 1:10:29months later, which is ironic too when you think about birth
- 1:10:32pains. Nine months.
- 1:10:35So the first dream, the first room that I had was on 4/4/22.
- 1:10:41Kind of interesting numbers also just that mathematically.
- 1:10:47But that was my very first dream.
- 1:10:49And it was what I'll say that I've come to know is the rapture
- 1:10:54or the resurrection, the resurrection, the rising to, to,
- 1:10:59to Christ. And I had my very first, that
- 1:11:03was my very first stream and what my, when I experienced it,
- 1:11:08I started going up into the sky. There's a lot more detail, but
- 1:11:12I'm not going to bore you with that.
- 1:11:13I started going up to the sky and it was like I could see like
- 1:11:17pictures like NASA has, where everything is like beautiful
- 1:11:20colors and, and sparkly. I called it like glitter or
- 1:11:23something, you know, it was just like this incredible awesome,
- 1:11:28like outer space kind of, you know, stuff in the atmosphere
- 1:11:34and and I was just like in awe, just like, wow.
- 1:11:38And I was like, this is real. And I, that was my reaction was
- 1:11:42just like, I was overwhelmed with awe and just how I was
- 1:11:47like, Oh my God, this is real. And I actually said, Oh my God.
- 1:11:50And then I kind of apologized to God.
- 1:11:51Like, I don't want to take your name in vain, but I was just
- 1:11:55really impressed by everything. So I wasn't using it in a
- 1:11:58negative way, but literally that came that loose thoughts came in
- 1:12:01my head when I was dreaming this.
- 1:12:04But anyway, I, I was just so impressed by that.
- 1:12:07But then all of a sudden, I remembered the books that I had
- 1:12:11delivered and the books that I had delivered that day.
- 1:12:14And they were sitting on my kitchen table in real life.
- 1:12:16This was in my dream. I was like, who's going to give
- 1:12:20those books out? And the books, the title of the
- 1:12:22books was The Resurrection and you.
- 1:12:27And so I woke up immediately after that.
- 1:12:30And, and so that was my first rapture dream.
- 1:12:36That was just like the end of the dream.
- 1:12:37But before I realized it was the rapture, everything went dark
- 1:12:41and I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.
- 1:12:44And then light came and then there were like clouds.
- 1:12:48And then I saw that something that was symbolic of the
- 1:12:51rapture. And I was like, Oh my gosh, it's
- 1:12:53the rapture. And then I put my arms up and I
- 1:12:55started ascending in the sky. I didn't leave all that detail.
- 1:12:58There's even more detail than that.
- 1:12:59But like I said, I don't want to get this too long.
- 1:13:01It's already long enough. So that was my very first dream.
- 1:13:05Then my second dream that I had was in a, in a, in a place.
- 1:13:11And there was this one of the people that was in my first
- 1:13:13dream was in my second dream. But then there was a different,
- 1:13:16a third person who is a different person in my dream.
- 1:13:19And we were at this place and we could see the sky in all
- 1:13:24different directions and, and there was like this watchtower
- 1:13:29that was there too. And then all of a sudden while
- 1:13:32we were there, everything went pitch black.
- 1:13:34So it repeated exactly like what happened in the dream maybe a
- 1:13:39week prior or something, I can't remember.
- 1:13:41I have to look up where I wrote down in my journal and I didn't
- 1:13:44do that before this podcast. But it was not.
- 1:13:46It was there's some space or some gap into the second dream.
- 1:13:50But in my second dream, I said to the people who were with me
- 1:13:54in my dream, I was like, don't, don't worry.
- 1:13:56Don't get concerned. I know it's pitch black, but the
- 1:13:59rapture is going to be next. And I learned that from my first
- 1:14:03dream. And I recalled my first dream in
- 1:14:07my second dream. And so I was basically saying,
- 1:14:10don't worry, don't be afraid. And then I woke up.
- 1:14:13It was a really, really short dream.
- 1:14:16And then like I said, about nine months later or so, I have this
- 1:14:20dream that is is so realistic. It looks exactly like where I
- 1:14:26Live Today. And I was going into the kitchen
- 1:14:30to get coffee in the morning. Everything looked exactly like.
- 1:14:34Sometimes you have dreams where you know, it's your house or
- 1:14:36whatever and but things look different.
- 1:14:39Well, this is 1 where it was my place and it looked exactly like
- 1:14:43it does. And I was going to do what I do,
- 1:14:47you know, just to go get a cup of coffee and it was light
- 1:14:50outside and then all of a sudden it went black.
- 1:14:57And then the emergency warning system sirens went off and
- 1:15:03everything because it was pitch black.
- 1:15:05I was like, I didn't know what to do.
- 1:15:07So I laid down and then when I laid down, I felt this was the
- 1:15:13different part of the dream. I felt this pulling across my
- 1:15:18shoulders, across my chest, like a magnet.
- 1:15:20It wasn't like a hand grabbing or anything.
- 1:15:22It was like a magnet. It was like a drawing.
- 1:15:24Like I was laying on the ground and I felt this like pulling.
- 1:15:28And then I was like in a third person viewpoint where I was
- 1:15:34outside of my body and I was looking at my body and I could
- 1:15:39see myself and I started rising. And as I started rising up to
- 1:15:44about the level of the refrigerator, I woke up.
- 1:15:49So that was like my third dream. And so I don't know, like I
- 1:15:54after that dream, the first two dreams, they were the very
- 1:15:58joyful feelings, this one. And I was, I think my expression
- 1:16:02to God was it was in my dream. It was like, dear God set mercy
- 1:16:09on me. That was what came out of my
- 1:16:10mouth in my dream. And so I knew I was going to
- 1:16:14God. And so there's I don't I don't
- 1:16:18really know. I mean these were definitely,
- 1:16:21there is no question in my mind that they were resurrection type
- 1:16:25dreams and every single all three dreams had everything
- 1:16:31going black before it happened. And listen to the Acts chapter
- 1:16:382, verse 20 and numerous times in the Bible and even in the
- 1:16:43Book of Revelation chapter 6. And many of the other prophets,
- 1:16:48like I don't remember if it was Jeremiah or Ezekiel, but it was
- 1:16:52the other prophets too. They all talk about everything
- 1:16:55going dark before the coming of the Lord.
- 1:16:59So in Acts chapter 2 verse 20, it says the sun will be turned
- 1:17:02to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the
- 1:17:06great and glorious day of the Lord.
- 1:17:09So I really don't doubt that this is the dreams that I've had
- 1:17:16are about the day that Jesus returns and in the day that we
- 1:17:22go to meet him in the air. Like I have no no doubt about
- 1:17:26that. But when I, I guess, you know,
- 1:17:31the question that we all have is how soon is this going to
- 1:17:35happen? It, you know, like some of these
- 1:17:37prophets had dreams and things that like Daniel, we're still
- 1:17:42waiting for his vision of, you know, in chapters 89101112, all
- 1:17:51those things to be fulfilled. So if he had these dreams or
- 1:17:55visions and thought they were going to happen the next day,
- 1:17:57they didn't. So there is another dream though
- 1:18:01that I had and I'm not going to share the whole dream, but what
- 1:18:05I'm going to say about this dream again, I, I have a feeling
- 1:18:08about what it is. And it had actually, I had the
- 1:18:12stream in 2021 and it featured the year 2026.
- 1:18:20So I had that dream. We will see if anything happens
- 1:18:25this year. And, and I know people will
- 1:18:29criticize if anybody says, well, no man knows the date or the
- 1:18:33hour. Well, I'm not saying the date.
- 1:18:36I'm not saying the hour. I can't say any of that.
- 1:18:41I wasn't given any of that. I was, I was given 12 blank 2026
- 1:18:47in my dream and and it could mean other things.
- 1:18:51It it doesn't necessarily have to mean that it's the return of
- 1:18:56Jesus. It could mean something else.
- 1:18:58And I don't know whether the 12 was the day of a month or if it
- 1:19:04was the month because date formats can be written
- 1:19:09differently. And then I also don't know if it
- 1:19:12was just something in my own creation, my own imagination
- 1:19:17with all of the other dreams that I have.
- 1:19:19I did take it seriously and I have taken it seriously.
- 1:19:23And that is part of the reason why I started this podcast years
- 1:19:28ago when I did, because if I don't say anything and this was
- 1:19:34from God, it would be too late. Like I wouldn't have shared this
- 1:19:38with people. But if I share this with people
- 1:19:41and it really does come to pass and it was from God, then
- 1:19:45whomever hears it and reflects on their life, the the message
- 1:19:50basically that I get from it is that we need to be prepared.
- 1:19:55We need to be ready to meet God at all times.
- 1:19:58And that is nothing different from what's in the Bible.
- 1:20:03And but it's here's what the significance of this is, is that
- 1:20:08I think a lot of people are not taking their faith seriously.
- 1:20:13They're very careless with their faith.
- 1:20:17They don't think about God. God is not a priority in our
- 1:20:21lives. God was not a priority in my
- 1:20:23life either. And over these past few years,
- 1:20:27God has become my priority in my life.
- 1:20:31I struggled with that and I shared that with God.
- 1:20:34He knew I was struggling with it already, but I shared it with
- 1:20:37them. You know, like I, I was like, I
- 1:20:38know I should have you as priority, but I didn't.
- 1:20:41I had other things and, and I, I shared that with him.
- 1:20:46He did, He must have helped me because the only way we can
- 1:20:50overcome any of this is through the Holy Spirit.
- 1:20:53And I believe that I probably received the Holy Spirit when I
- 1:20:58was baptized because that was my complete surrender.
- 1:21:01That was me honestly saying, OK, I'm not going to be a hypocrite
- 1:21:04anymore. God knew my heart.
- 1:21:06He knew what I that I truly meant it.
- 1:21:08He knew it was hard for me to do that, but I chose to do that.
- 1:21:13And then, you know, it says if we seek him, you will find him
- 1:21:18and and we are promised the the spirit when we believe and was
- 1:21:22that the beginning of my true belief?
- 1:21:24It probably was it was my true like, you know, we're in a
- 1:21:27covenant relationship with God and and that's what Jesus prayed
- 1:21:32for. He says, you know, Father, you
- 1:21:34know, make them one as we are one.
- 1:21:39You know that I and you and you and me and and that's what what
- 1:21:43Jesus wanted for all of us to share that relationship with the
- 1:21:47Father that he had has and and him and just, you know, the Holy
- 1:21:53Spirit, everything, you know, becoming that one.
- 1:21:57And, and so I share this with other people because you know,
- 1:22:02you, you may not believe anything I say or think I'm some
- 1:22:06kind of weirdo. And I, you know, can't blame you
- 1:22:10for that. You don't know me.
- 1:22:11So you may think that of me, but I'm just sharing it.
- 1:22:16Not anything about me, but about you and your relationship with
- 1:22:20God, like pursue God, get to know him, seek him, ask Jesus
- 1:22:27for the Holy Spirit, if you don't know already that you have
- 1:22:30the Holy Spirit because it is important for us.
- 1:22:36I mean, it's, it's, it's Jesus said no one can enter the
- 1:22:40Kingdom of God unless they are born of the spirit.
- 1:22:43We have to become a new creation.
- 1:22:45That's a changed life. And the only way that changed
- 1:22:48life happens is through the Holy Spirit.
- 1:22:51So don't try to do it on your own.
- 1:22:52Don't try to be like, well, I need to be better or I need to
- 1:22:55do this. No, just come to God the way you
- 1:22:58are and just say God help me and he will do it because he loves
- 1:23:02us and because he forgives. So don't let anything stand in
- 1:23:08your way of your relationship with God.
- 1:23:11Nothing. Make him the priority.
- 1:23:13That's really what I want to share with everybody.
- 1:23:16And just make sure that you're ready so that you're not a rich
- 1:23:20man talking about Lazarus and you're not, you know, the rich
- 1:23:25man in the story that Jesus told saying warn my family, warn my
- 1:23:29family so they don't end up here.
- 1:23:32The time is now and, and I don't know, we'll see.
- 1:23:37Like I will keep doing this podcast as long as God permits
- 1:23:40me to do it. And we'll see if anything
- 1:23:43happens in 2026. We'll find out if I was just,
- 1:23:48you know, had some imagination. So I, I'm fine.
- 1:23:52I, you know, like, I'm not trying to be anything more
- 1:23:55important or anything. I, I could care less and none of
- 1:23:58this matters to me. All I do care about is I, I
- 1:24:01knew, realized how far I was from God and I'm so grateful for
- 1:24:07what Jesus did. And I don't want other people to
- 1:24:10miss out on God. And I see a lot of people and
- 1:24:17missing out because they're not taking this serious and they're
- 1:24:21not turned to God. So this is a plea, turn to God,
- 1:24:28repent and turn to God. And he's loving, merciful, and
- 1:24:31forgiving. And that's all I have to say.
