- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, the truth about sorority life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts, me, Gia Giudice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Fessler. Hi, everybody. I'm so excited
- 0:14Speaker 2: to be joined. Well, I feel like I'm the one joining,
- 0:17Speaker 2: but Jen Fessler and Joan. Hi, everybody. We are here
- 0:25Speaker 2: for the Dirty Rush podcast. We're waiting for Gia, so
- 0:27Speaker 2: we're just going to start. She's going to jump in
- 0:29Speaker 2: when she gets here. But I love all things Rush
- 0:35Speaker 2: because sorority life was such a big part of my
- 0:38Speaker 2: life in college and actually still is. So whenever I
- 0:41Speaker 2: get the chance to do the Dirty Rush podcast, I'm
- 0:44Speaker 2: so excited to do it. Not only, you know... because
- 0:48Speaker 2: of the sorority life, but because I get to see
- 0:49Speaker 2: your beautiful faces.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I love every time you come on. It's like, first
- 0:53Speaker 3: of all, well, you and Joan both, you sort of,
- 0:55Speaker 3: to me, look the part. You just both look like
- 0:57Speaker 3: sorority girls.
- 0:58Speaker 4: We wore pink today.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Pink.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm wearing my pink.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Purposely wear pink, but.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I mean, I know, but like, you're just both so.
- 1:06Speaker 3: blonde and young and perky and young.
- 1:10Speaker 2: I'm 63.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm so old.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Literally, I was just telling Joan before you came on,
- 1:14Speaker 2: these might look like highlights, but this is all gray.
- 1:17Speaker 2: And literally, when we're done, I'm going to the hair salon.
- 1:19Speaker 2: That's my girl.
- 1:21Speaker 3: That's my girl.
- 1:22Speaker 5: I was in a sorority in the 80s. I'm so old.
- 1:27Speaker 5: I felt that some of the questions were like, what
- 1:29Speaker 5: did you wear at Rush? I'm like, I have absolutely
- 1:31Speaker 5: no idea what I wore at Rush.
- 1:32Speaker 1: It's ridiculous.
- 1:33Speaker 3: I mean, whatever I fit into at the time.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Exactly.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And there were no pictures.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:37Speaker 2: No pictures, right?
- 1:38Speaker 3: Well, have you guys been keeping up with Rush Talk?
- 1:42Speaker 3: I guess that's mom talk, tick talk. Now there's Rush Talk.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Rush Talk is amazing.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I don't know how these girls are doing this. No,
- 1:52Speaker 3: I don't either.
- 1:53Speaker 2: And I have college age kids. Well, almost. Blakeslee will
- 1:57Speaker 2: be there next year. But we wanted to get together
- 1:59Speaker 2: to talk about sorority, sorority recruitment and all things fashion
- 2:04Speaker 2: when it comes to the new recruits and what they
- 2:07Speaker 2: have to think about. My gosh, it's crazy how much
- 2:11Speaker 2: they have to think about.
- 2:12Speaker 3: It's upsetting actually a little bit, but.
- 2:14Speaker 4: I agree with you again. I want to talk about that.
- 2:17Speaker 3: One of my friends online reached out and said, and
- 2:19Speaker 3: sent me like 85 at Texas there, whatever rush videos.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Cause now all the girls are dancing and she's like,
- 2:26Speaker 3: we did not look like this. And I'm like, I'm
- 2:30Speaker 3: not even sure I was in that sorority anymore.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I couldn't be in it. I couldn't spend enough money.
- 2:35Speaker 4: I couldn't dance well enough. I would not fit in.
- 2:39Speaker 4: I worry a little bit. That's part of it. First
- 2:41Speaker 4: of all, have we lost sight of why we're going
- 2:44Speaker 4: to college? Number one, in my mind. I feel like
- 2:47Speaker 4: we have.
- 2:48Speaker 5: You know, the beginning, first couple of weeks of college,
- 2:50Speaker 5: it seems like are all about sororities and, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 5: about sororities. And so much of it now feels like
- 2:56Speaker 5: a class system to me that you have to be
- 2:58Speaker 5: so wealthy or so connected to be in a sorority
- 3:03Speaker 5: these days.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Look who's joined us. Little Miss Gia Giudice.
- 3:07Speaker 4: We needed some young blood. Thank you.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Hello. So nice to meet you.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Great tan, Gia. Great tan.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 3:15Speaker 3: We're talking about Rush Talk.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Probably a lot different from when you were in a sorority, right?
- 3:21Speaker 1: How the times have changed.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You think?
- 3:24Speaker 2: All of us.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah. We should have brought our pictures from Rush because.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I know.
- 3:31Speaker 3: I mean, I just, I look back at it. I mean,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I had that, I had a head of just curly
- 3:36Speaker 3: hair that I was scrunching, scrunching, scrunching, like a big
- 3:39Speaker 3: triangle on top of my head. And then some, I
- 3:42Speaker 3: don't know, some ruffly outfit was just all wrong.
- 3:47Speaker 5: I think I had the blonde like feather look all
- 3:49Speaker 5: the way down as much as I could get. And
- 3:51Speaker 5: I think I had a light blue puffy dress.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 3:54Speaker 4: That's the only one I remember.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Some of these insopics are so funny.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I mean, I'm looking at all these. We have several
- 4:00Speaker 3: pictures here. It feels like these girls are kind of
- 4:03Speaker 3: going back to this sort of 50s housewife vibe. Is
- 4:06Speaker 3: that true, Gia?
- 4:07Speaker 1: I think it's maybe not to the extent, but I
- 4:10Speaker 1: think everything does still come back. And I think it's
- 4:14Speaker 1: a lot of like the floral pattern that I'm seeing.
- 4:17Speaker 1: And even just like the flowy sundresses. I think that's
- 4:21Speaker 1: kind of what's been coming back.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Like more, um, Love Shack fancy.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Like a Love Shack fancy vibe. Like that's kind of
- 4:29Speaker 1: what it is.
- 4:30Speaker 5: The pictures that I'm looking at here, the bows are gigantic.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Gigantic.
- 4:35Speaker 5: I am like, they take up, they're like the size
- 4:37Speaker 5: of their entire width of the girls.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that top row with the bow skirts
- 4:44Speaker 1: are maybe a bit out of my comfort zone, but
- 4:49Speaker 1: I feel like the puppy sleeves are coming back. That's like,
- 4:52Speaker 1: those are very cute with some dresses, but I think
- 4:55Speaker 1: the bow skirts are a bit much. A lot.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And not only are they huge bow skirts, but they're
- 5:01Speaker 2: also in this super shiny, like.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Tap-a-dog.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Yeah, like really thick material, kind of like you would wear...
- 5:10Speaker 2: at a wedding in the eighties.
- 5:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. That's the vibe I was getting.
- 5:15Speaker 5: And like the pink is so pink, like it's Barbie
- 5:19Speaker 5: candy pink.
- 5:20Speaker 3: I feel like if you guys, there's this one dress
- 5:22Speaker 3: we have, we are all looking at under the puppy sleeve.
- 5:24Speaker 3: That looks like, to me, it looks like Daisy Kent
- 5:26Speaker 3: in that first picture, the white, that little white dress
- 5:29Speaker 3: with the puppy sleeves.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. I mean, I know a lot of people,
- 5:32Speaker 1: especially from Bama Rush know Kyle and Darnell. And she's awesome.
- 5:37Speaker 1: She just recently graduated University of Bama, but her sister
- 5:40Speaker 1: is still a student there. What?
- 5:42Speaker 3: Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. What?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Who?
- 5:44Speaker 2: What?
- 5:44Speaker 1: Where?
- 5:45Speaker 2: What?
- 5:46Speaker 1: Kylan Darnell. So she basically... I want to say she
- 5:53Speaker 1: started Rush TikTok. She went really viral at the University
- 5:56Speaker 1: of Alabama. And she kind of showed the girls like,
- 6:01Speaker 1: Hey guys, get dressed with me for my first day
- 6:03Speaker 1: of Rush. And she was really into it. A full-blown
- 6:09Speaker 1: sorority girl at heart. Loved every second of it. Embraced it.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Loved the outfit planning. And she was very... she was
- 6:17Speaker 1: very intricate with how she planned her outfits. She had
- 6:20Speaker 1: some of them even designed, like very meticulous about everything
- 6:25Speaker 1: that she wore when it came to rush, but it
- 6:28Speaker 1: was always simple, but cute. Sometimes she went over the
- 6:31Speaker 1: top of course, but it was the detailing and her
- 6:35Speaker 1: outfits that really, um, Kylan Darnell is actually, um, the
- 6:39Speaker 1: blue bond in the hair and makeup. Like she's the
- 6:42Speaker 1: blonde with the curly hair. Yes. Wow.
- 6:46Speaker 3: That is what in the JonBenet Ramsey is going on there. Really?
- 6:51Speaker 2: I need to look her up because I, my daughter
- 6:55Speaker 2: will be maybe going through rush next year. Okay. I've
- 6:57Speaker 2: got her. Um, I, you guys before in, in prepping
- 7:01Speaker 2: for this podcast, I called a friend of mine who
- 7:05Speaker 2: I went to Indiana university with, we were both red steppers.
- 7:09Speaker 2: So we danced for the football team and she has
- 7:11Speaker 2: I think I've talked about it here on dirty rush
- 7:14Speaker 2: before she has an organization called crush my rush. And
- 7:16Speaker 2: I guess, I think you guys have quoted her sometimes
- 7:19Speaker 2: or her company or whatever. And I was like, I
- 7:22Speaker 2: just want to know what you, what tips you give
- 7:26Speaker 2: to these girls based on like the fashion, like what
- 7:28Speaker 2: do you recommend that they do? And she said, the
- 7:31Speaker 2: number one thing is just to be yourself. So this
- 7:34Speaker 2: Kylan Darnell is like, you know, getting things made like
- 7:38Speaker 2: for her, For her personality. So really just showcasing your personality,
- 7:43Speaker 2: I feel like is big.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Well, and that's what she... I mean, she is from
- 7:47Speaker 1: a small town in Missouri. Grew up on a farm.
- 7:50Speaker 1: This girl, Kylan.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Kylan is.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Got it. She literally just got to Bama and embraced it.
- 7:57Speaker 1: She grew up in the pageant world a little bit,
- 7:59Speaker 1: but I mean, she also was fully... grew up on
- 8:03Speaker 1: a farm in Missouri has cows, horses, like you name it,
- 8:06Speaker 1: like ride side by sides, like can also get like,
- 8:10Speaker 1: get down and dirty in the mud, but then can
- 8:12Speaker 1: also like glam up for sorority rush. Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 3: But now everybody else is trying to look like her.
- 8:18Speaker 3: So how are they trying to be themselves?
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, she definitely did set the bar. I mean, honestly, I,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I think the best thing it's like, you obviously have
- 8:27Speaker 1: your three rounds. Obviously the last round, which is prep
- 8:31Speaker 1: round is like your most, like you should dress up
- 8:34Speaker 1: the most for pref and I feel like now whenever
- 8:38Speaker 1: I get asked of like what people should wear during
- 8:40Speaker 1: pref round I feel like just like silk nice like
- 8:44Speaker 1: cocktail dresses I feel like it's like a fancier vibe
- 8:47Speaker 1: but then for the two rounds prior to it like
- 8:51Speaker 1: you can also be wearing really cute skirts with body
- 8:54Speaker 1: suits or nice sundresses yeah like I just feel like
- 8:58Speaker 1: you can also pick a dress that best suits you,
- 9:02Speaker 1: but just follow that category.
- 9:04Speaker 2: I have a question though, because Jen was saying that
- 9:07Speaker 2: at a lot of the schools now, they actually are
- 9:11Speaker 2: giving them t-shirts. Did you have to wear a t-shirt?
- 9:14Speaker 1: I did.
- 9:15Speaker 2: And what do you do? Cause she was saying that
- 9:17Speaker 2: you get a t-shirt like two days before sometimes. So
- 9:20Speaker 2: you can't even plan what you're gonna wear on the bottom.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Like you would just have to pick out something and
- 9:25Speaker 2: hope that it matches.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah, not gonna lie. I'm like trying to think back
- 9:29Speaker 1: onto like what I wore. It was a black shirt.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I wanna say this was probably during open house round.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Everyone wore the t-shirt during the first round so that
- 9:38Speaker 1: everyone was cohesive as they were going through the houses. But,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and then, yeah, I think I literally wore jeans, like
- 9:45Speaker 1: ripped jeans.
- 9:47Speaker 5: I love the thought of, Like having that as like
- 9:50Speaker 5: the standards. So everybody kind of dresses a little bit
- 9:53Speaker 5: the same because I feel like maybe you are dressing
- 9:56Speaker 5: in a way that you wouldn't normally dress. So you're
- 9:58Speaker 5: like showing yourself in a different way. And maybe you
- 10:01Speaker 5: would end up in a sorority or like that really
- 10:04Speaker 5: isn't a great match for your personality. And I looked
- 10:06Speaker 5: at like these outfits and these girls are all dressed
- 10:09Speaker 5: like really very differently. Like there's a girl that is
- 10:12Speaker 5: from University of Oregon and she actually has jeans and
- 10:15Speaker 5: a belly shirt on. And then they're the one that's
- 10:18Speaker 5: next to her who is at the University of Miami.
- 10:20Speaker 5: And she has a much like kind of straight cut
- 10:23Speaker 5: black dress, black and white dress on. I feel like
- 10:26Speaker 5: their personalities are coming out in these outfits. And if
- 10:30Speaker 5: everybody is trying to dress like over the top with
- 10:32Speaker 5: the big bows and the puffy sleeves and looking like
- 10:35Speaker 5: everybody else and everybody has the flowered skirts on, then
- 10:38Speaker 5: everybody's now looking the same and you're not really showcasing
- 10:41Speaker 5: your personality.
- 10:41Speaker 4: And I just wish that. Like that would be more important.
- 10:45Speaker 3: I don't know at that age, you know, it's like,
- 10:48Speaker 3: I go back to my 18, 19, whatever year old self.
- 10:52Speaker 3: I think that whatever was going on with my friends
- 10:55Speaker 3: at that time, there was so much, what are you wearing?
- 10:57Speaker 3: What are you wearing? What are you wearing? What are
- 10:58Speaker 3: you wearing? I definitely was not trying to find myself
- 11:01Speaker 3: in like, this is who Jennifer is. I was trying
- 11:03Speaker 3: to look the part, right. And make the, the houses
- 11:07Speaker 3: want me. and fit in.
- 11:09Speaker 1: And you do, you tend to wear what your friends
- 11:11Speaker 1: are going to wear. You send outfits in your group chats.
- 11:15Speaker 1: You kind of base it off of all that. But
- 11:17Speaker 1: I mean, open house round, that was definitely where I
- 11:20Speaker 1: received the t-shirt. And that is the most casual round.
- 11:24Speaker 1: You are literally speed dating where you are going into
- 11:27Speaker 1: each one of these houses for like maybe five to
- 11:29Speaker 1: 10 minutes. So the like wearing a t-shirt and jeans
- 11:33Speaker 1: and maybe some sneakers or a cute flat because now
- 11:36Speaker 1: like the ballet flats are coming back. But I feel
- 11:40Speaker 1: like that is I think I wore a t-shirt, jeans
- 11:43Speaker 1: and sneakers. And then as the rounds go on, you
- 11:45Speaker 1: get more and more dressed up like second round. You
- 11:49Speaker 1: have sisterhood and then prep.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Well, I think with the casual outfits, like I love
- 11:54Speaker 2: a jeans look, you know, but you can make that
- 11:58Speaker 2: your own by adding jewelry, accessories, like all of that stuff.
- 12:02Speaker 2: So I feel like, yeah, with shoes. And I feel
- 12:05Speaker 2: like it is really important. Like, yes, everyone's trying to
- 12:09Speaker 2: kind of fit in. But what Jen was saying to
- 12:12Speaker 2: me is her advice was to not try to fit in,
- 12:15Speaker 2: to actually stand out, like not in a weird way, obviously,
- 12:19Speaker 2: but stand out and show your personality however you can.
- 12:23Speaker 2: And if that means jewelry, like fun jewelry or a
- 12:26Speaker 2: statement piece or something personal, like your grandmother's pearl bracelet
- 12:31Speaker 2: or something, you know what I mean? Like something that
- 12:33Speaker 2: could maybe spark up a conversation.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Even the way that you do your hair. Totally. Yes.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Something that like gives a little take into your personality.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Let's talk about the money of it all. You guys,
- 13:03Speaker 3: that's gotten crazy. So Bama rush, right? So we have
- 13:08Speaker 3: different girls in these videos. There are, I'm seeing Hermes
- 13:12Speaker 3: sandals for $ 900. Uh, well, Aqua skirt from Bloomingdale's very reasonable.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Of course, $ 42 Van Cleef, $ 5, 100 Van Cleef, yellow gold bracelet, seven,
- 13:23Speaker 3: two Cartier bracelet, Cartier ring. I mean, crazy G. I mean,
- 13:26Speaker 3: you're the closest to this. Is that what's going on?
- 13:29Speaker 3: And I mean, that's Bama, but... That is Bama.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But I think also a lot of these girls, if
- 13:34Speaker 1: a lot of these girls do have nice jewelry on
- 13:36Speaker 1: their wrist, it's obviously probably most likely coming from their parents'
- 13:39Speaker 1: bank account. Right. So it's not coming from them. And
- 13:42Speaker 1: I think it's just like Christmas gifts. And you really
- 13:46Speaker 1: can't knock these kids for getting nice Christmas gifts from
- 13:49Speaker 1: their parents. Yeah. But when you're looking at like the
- 13:53Speaker 1: outfits of it all, I don't think the outfits are that...
- 13:58Speaker 1: that outrageous. Yes, they're wearing very expensive, maybe accessories and
- 14:02Speaker 1: jewelry on their wrists or their handbags. But that very
- 14:05Speaker 1: well could also be passed down like from their parents.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Totally.
- 14:08Speaker 1: But an aqua skirt from Bloomingdale's address from Bloomingdale's, even
- 14:13Speaker 1: if you go on Amazon, there's so many good finds.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And Amazon also has a little bit more like some
- 14:20Speaker 1: outfit choices that are also on the more expensive side,
- 14:24Speaker 1: like some dresses that are, you know, two, yes. And that,
- 14:28Speaker 1: and that are $ 200, but then they also have some
- 14:30Speaker 1: dresses that range to like the 40 to $ 90 range.
- 14:34Speaker 1: So I think it's all about where you're looking, but
- 14:37Speaker 1: you know, you could even go to Bloomingdale's. Aqua is
- 14:39Speaker 1: one of the brands that I've seen in Bloomingdale's for
- 14:43Speaker 1: years now. And you're shopping at Bloomingdale's, but you're getting
- 14:46Speaker 1: a skirt for $ 40. So I think it all ranges.
- 14:49Speaker 1: And I think a lot of these children, like a
- 14:52Speaker 1: lot of these kids going into school also get a
- 14:54Speaker 1: lot of their, a lot of their access from their parents.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Look at Miss Gia calling sorority girls children. How old
- 15:00Speaker 3: are you now, lady? What are you, 20?
- 15:02Speaker 4: Crazy kids.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Crazy kids. The children. Look at Gia Chudai, she's all
- 15:09Speaker 3: grown up.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I mean, and what, what about, dupes. Like if you
- 15:15Speaker 2: really feel like you need a Van Cleef, whatever, there
- 15:20Speaker 2: are so many dupes out there.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Yes, there are. Yep.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Amazon is selling literally a bracelet stack of like what
- 15:26Speaker 1: girls wear, which like is Van Cleef, Cartier, like whatever
- 15:29Speaker 1: it is, they will sell a stack of them and
- 15:32Speaker 1: you can literally buy it and put it on your wrist.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I think it's all about how you
- 15:36Speaker 1: present yourself and accessorize the, you know, your jewelry mixed
- 15:40Speaker 1: in with something a handbag or whatever. It's all about
- 15:43Speaker 1: how you do it because nine times out of 10,
- 15:46Speaker 1: no one's going to know.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you think that like, for me at my age,
- 15:50Speaker 3: I'm over labels. I'm saying that I'm not putting a
- 15:52Speaker 3: big umbrella. I'm not saying I'm not going to ever labels,
- 15:55Speaker 3: but I'm really trying and enjoy more wearing things that
- 15:58Speaker 3: don't have labels now. But I think there's, is that,
- 16:01Speaker 3: is there any kind of a trend towards that? I'm
- 16:03Speaker 3: asking Gia, just at your age, sort of less labels, more, no,
- 16:08Speaker 3: you're looking at me like, nope.
- 16:10Speaker 1: No, no, I don't think that. No, like, I mean,
- 16:13Speaker 1: I'm just guilty because I do love, you know, not
- 16:16Speaker 1: even wearing not even wearing labeled like clothing. I honestly
- 16:20Speaker 1: don't really love the way labeled clothing looks. It's whether
- 16:25Speaker 1: I go into a store and I really like a
- 16:26Speaker 1: handbag or a piece of jewelry, but I don't really
- 16:31Speaker 1: love the monochrome like clothing. look of clothing. And that's
- 16:35Speaker 1: why I really never want to buy designer clothing. But
- 16:40Speaker 1: I think also when you're in college, it's not as
- 16:43Speaker 1: intense like maybe now. But my personal preference, it's like
- 16:48Speaker 1: if I'm going out and I'm going to like frat
- 16:51Speaker 1: parties or bar college bars, I'm definitely not like loading
- 16:56Speaker 1: up my wrist with You know, like I'm just not
- 16:59Speaker 1: doing that. And I, you know, I'm also not bringing
- 17:02Speaker 1: my Chanel purse to the bar, like a college bar.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So I think there's, you know, I think there's a range.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Like when you're in, when I was in college, I
- 17:11Speaker 1: would get my going out bags off of Amazon and you,
- 17:15Speaker 1: or if you don't like, you know, or she in it,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but there's also great brands now on Amazon called like
- 17:21Speaker 1: the JW pay, such a great bag brand where like,
- 17:26Speaker 1: they have such cute bags. And I don't know, I
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't think it's worth it, especially when you're in college. And,
- 17:32Speaker 1: you know, I don't think it's a top priority. I
- 17:35Speaker 1: think there's a lot of other ways that you can
- 17:37Speaker 1: accessorize yourself. There's also so many other jewelry brands now,
- 17:41Speaker 1: where you can find really, really cute jewelry that doesn't tarnish.
- 17:45Speaker 1: And it's, you know, just a better option.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Rush appropriate.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Yeah, I think about the girls that like, maybe they're
- 17:55Speaker 5: first generation going to college or they just don't, like
- 17:58Speaker 5: I grew up very, very middle-class and being in sorority,
- 18:01Speaker 5: I like, I had to pay for it myself. My
- 18:02Speaker 5: parents said, you know, we'll send you to college, but
- 18:04Speaker 5: you're paying for all your extra stuff. And how hard
- 18:07Speaker 5: this would be for people like that were in that situation,
- 18:10Speaker 5: like how intimidating it would be to walk in the
- 18:12Speaker 5: sorority house with all these girls who have all so
- 18:15Speaker 5: much and they're walking in there like very plain dress,
- 18:18Speaker 5: or I just think it'd be so intimidating.
- 18:20Speaker 4: And I kind of put myself.
- 18:22Speaker 5: In their shoes a little bit. Like, what do you
- 18:23Speaker 5: think about that. And like, maybe it's really not fair. And,
- 18:27Speaker 5: you know, having maybe that t-shirt carry through for more
- 18:31Speaker 5: rounds would allow maybe a more diverse, economically, at least
- 18:36Speaker 5: diverse group of people in the house.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I like that. I like that idea.
- 18:40Speaker 2: It just depends on the college. It depends on the
- 18:43Speaker 2: sorority because I feel like I've talked to, you know,
- 18:46Speaker 2: a lot of girls and whether they're worried about what
- 18:50Speaker 2: they're wearing or not. It depends on the college. It
- 18:53Speaker 2: depends on the sorority. And if you want to be
- 18:56Speaker 2: in a more academic sorority, there are definitely options at
- 19:00Speaker 2: different sorority, at different universities. So I feel like it
- 19:02Speaker 2: just depends on where you're going. We know that the
- 19:07Speaker 2: SEC schools are going to be the place where people
- 19:11Speaker 2: are trying to dress to impress, and they're going to
- 19:14Speaker 2: be wearing all of the you know, the preppy, the
- 19:16Speaker 2: love shack fancy, all of that stuff, you know, going
- 19:19Speaker 2: into it that that's the deal.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:21Speaker 2: So I feel like if, if being a part of
- 19:24Speaker 2: a sorority is something that you want to do in college,
- 19:28Speaker 2: then definitely do your research in terms of like the
- 19:32Speaker 2: sorority life at different colleges and then make your decision
- 19:36Speaker 2: from there. You know, I don't think it all, every
- 19:39Speaker 2: single sorority across the United States is, is like as
- 19:44Speaker 2: gung-ho as Bama or Ole Miss or whatever, Oklahoma, you
- 19:48Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 19:49Speaker 3: Or Okra. Arkansas or whatever.
- 19:51Speaker 2: So I feel like there's a fit for everybody.
- 19:54Speaker 3: You just have to do your research. Actually, Joan and
- 20:11Speaker 3: I just did a pod on dorm rooms and how
- 20:16Speaker 3: insane that has gotten and how much money is being
- 20:20Speaker 3: spent by interior designers and things are, pillows are being
- 20:25Speaker 3: custom made and people are coming in. with the wrecking
- 20:28Speaker 3: crews and.
- 20:29Speaker 5: With their designers, like literally interior designers are coming with
- 20:32Speaker 5: them to college.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah. But guys, I remember I would go on
- 20:36Speaker 1: this one website. I'll look it up right now. I
- 20:38Speaker 1: got my whole dorm room from there and it was
- 20:41Speaker 1: so easy. Yeah. That's what it was.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but this is not that, what we were talking to.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Oh, I know. I know. And I mean, that's a
- 20:49Speaker 1: bit insane. I had the cutest dorm room. I got
- 20:51Speaker 1: the wallpaper. Everything was from Dormify. I did it myself
- 20:56Speaker 1: and it looked great. But yeah, I get it. And again,
- 21:00Speaker 1: but that is not like, not everybody has to be
- 21:03Speaker 1: like that. If you want to do that and you
- 21:06Speaker 1: choose to do that and you have the means to
- 21:08Speaker 1: do that, amazing. But you can also make your room,
- 21:13Speaker 1: your outfit, Or your, yeah, yeah. Like literally look just
- 21:17Speaker 1: as expensive as the person who got an interior designer
- 21:20Speaker 1: in their room. Like I bet you, you could do
- 21:23Speaker 1: the same exact thing by yourself. And I was even
- 21:27Speaker 1: just looking at some of these outfits like, yes. Okay.
- 21:31Speaker 1: And if you look at some of them like Bama Rush, okay.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Then you go to Texas AMM and then, you know, TCU.
- 21:39Speaker 1: all of these schools are predominantly down South because I
- 21:42Speaker 1: could tell you right now, like when Rutgers university, like
- 21:46Speaker 1: they didn't care about what designer you had on you.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But as you keep kind of going down, like even
- 21:52Speaker 1: to Texas at A & M and TCU, the outfits,
- 21:56Speaker 1: you know, look at the outfits because you can accessorize
- 22:00Speaker 1: with any type of jewelry that you want. But this
- 22:02Speaker 1: girl is wearing that brand that I was talking about,
- 22:04Speaker 1: JW pay dress, $ 139. I mean, you know, Steve Madden
- 22:10Speaker 1: heels for $ 80. Steve Madden literally does dupes of absolutely
- 22:14Speaker 1: everything now. Like there are, and JW Pay, they are
- 22:18Speaker 1: on Amazon and they're also, I think on Revolve. And
- 22:22Speaker 1: then speaking of Revolve, Revolve now has a sorority rush section.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And yes, people look at Revolve and are like, wow,
- 22:30Speaker 1: Revolve is so expensive. But there's also very affordable brands
- 22:34Speaker 1: on Revolve as well. So now that they do have
- 22:36Speaker 1: a sorority rush section, you can kind of just like
- 22:40Speaker 1: sort through it, see what works best for you. But
- 22:43Speaker 1: like a brand that I know is so common that
- 22:46Speaker 1: I always look at on Revolve is Superdown, where they
- 22:49Speaker 1: have really, really reasonable prices. Like No, not overall. Some
- 22:54Speaker 1: things are over $ 100, but very reasonable. And now they
- 22:58Speaker 1: literally have a rush section. I'm sure they have outfits
- 23:01Speaker 1: that are very expensive off of Revolve, but then outfits
- 23:05Speaker 1: that are also really reasonable. Also, E. Newton Jewelry now
- 23:10Speaker 1: also has a recruitment-ready section for jewelry. I know another
- 23:15Speaker 1: great brand is also... EP jewels. She is, you know,
- 23:20Speaker 1: a young entrepreneur who created a jewelry company and she
- 23:24Speaker 1: has amazing jewelry as well. So like there are ways
- 23:27Speaker 1: that you can make these outfits and you will look amazing,
- 23:30Speaker 1: but you also don't need to be spending thousands.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Here's a little tip from your 58 year old friend,
- 23:35Speaker 3: Jen Fessler, who is so computer savvy and technology wise,
- 23:41Speaker 3: take the outfit. that you love, and you put it
- 23:43Speaker 3: into something called AI. And then you say, where can
- 23:48Speaker 3: I get this exact look for less? And you put
- 23:51Speaker 3: in a budget. I know I'm not teaching any 18-year-olds
- 23:54Speaker 3: out there what to do. But if it's my daughter
- 23:58Speaker 3: who's already graduated, I'm saying, get on your little friend,
- 24:02Speaker 3: chat GPT, and you find out where to get that
- 24:05Speaker 3: for $ 100.
